Arrogance. Alexia putellas x reader.
Let me know if you want a part 2.
You loved winning more than anything or anyone in the entire world and that was your biggest flaw. Brought up in the US soccer system, you were taught that winning is everything. You had set the precedent of joining the US women's national team as early as 17 years old which had never been done before. You were smart both academically and tactically. You graduated high school early, went to college early and proceeded to win the national championship all 4 years.
Your life always took the back seat to winning. You didn't have many friends. You didn't go out or party. You trained hard, you took care of your body, and followed a strict fitness routine. You were overall the best in your generation.
Being labeled as the best of your generation got into your head early in your life. Your strict regime made it hard for you to make friends and your cockiness and pride didn't help either. You were friendly but nobody ever dared to become your friend.
After college you moved on to the NWSL in which you won MVP , rookie of the year, and the championship in your first and second year. You had also won the world but at the same time. However, winning didn't fill the gap in your life that it once did. You didn't have to prove yourself anymore, you were renowned in the whole world as the best, everybody wanted to be you but no one wanted to be with you not long term at least. You were notorious for hooking up with people but you didn't want them to stay over for breakfast
As the years went on the international competition got harder. You were still the best but an upcoming Spaniard was raining on your parade. You were both head to head in matchies, a few tackles landing you warnings and yellow cards, and in awards. Both having very good stats you are head to head for the ballon d'or which she won that year.
You didn't talk to each other much. You can recall talking one or twice to each other . but you talked about one another a lot. The media seemed to spit you both against one another. You started hating each other in real life.
This summer your contract with Seattle fc came to its end and you chose not to renew. Offers were flying by but the one that caught your attention was Barcelona's offer.
They were willing to spend 1 million dollars on you. It was a precedent. No club had ever paid this much for a transfer. Thrie offer sticked your ego so much you accepted.
You have been playing at Barcelona for almost a season, scoring a hatrick at every game. Your relationship with your teammates didn't change. You were still space out.
The most important relationship was with your captain. Your rivalry with her was the second headline out of the b transfer. But you didn't pay her or the rivalry any attention.
Tonight you have achieved something you wanted to do for a long time. You have won the champion’s league. The locker room was celebrating the win and chanting your name. While everybody was dancing Alexia came to approached you and said “ congrats and thank u american”
“ no need capi.” you responded.
The flight back was fun, people were singing and dancing but the only thing you thought about was alexia. Her smell, her hand on your shoulder, her being thankful for you. You found yourself looking over to her from time to time. You weren't like this, you didn't day dream about people especially not the captain.
The celebration party took place in a bar. You were a few dink in when you looked over to you right yo find Alexia nursing a flute filled with champagne.
“Why aren't you dancing?” She asked.
“ I am not the type plus i am pretty sure y'all hate me.”
“And why is that “
“Don't know just a feeling.”
After that I went outside. I didn't smoke much but the nerves Alexia was giving me deserved some nicotine. As soon as I lit the cigarette I felt her hazel eyes glaring at me.
“ These things are gonna kill you, you know.”
“ I want to die young plus nobody would give a shit.”
“ I would give a shit if the most important person in my club was killing herself because she can't man up enough to talk to people. You hide behind your accomplishments. But you are just a normal girl just like any of us. You need people beside you.”
“ You are wrong about me. I am not scared of talking to people; they just would never understand me. I am a control freak. I don't like to give it up. People tend to hate that about me ” I say as I take the last puff of my cigarette. My eyes don't leave hers and the tension is through the roof.
“ I like to lose control from time to time.”
“ Capitana please don't play with me”
“ Currently I am not playing with you. Let me make you a deal. You go inside, have some fun and I will let you do what you want with the information you just heard.”
“ Why are you doing this?”
“ I don't know, I just care, I guess.

Jamie Tartt*The Bet
Pairing: Jamie x f!reader
Word count: 5794
Tumblr media
Warnings: jamie asking the reader out as a bet, prick jamie in the beginning, mentions of sex but nothing explicit, angst, a lot of fucks but this is Ted Lasso
Materlist here
“mate do you know who I am?” Jamie said, gesturing to himself as he Issac and Collin sat in the back corner of a crowded nightclub, “I’m telling you man I could get any girl in here. Guy too if I really wanted,”
“please bruv,” Issac scoffed, rolling his eyes. They were used to Jamie being a cocky prick on the field but after a few too many beers and Issac getting rejected twice in one night he was bitter and felt the need to prove something, “all you do is get laid. You’ve not had a girlfriend in like ever,” he said making Jamie roll his eyes this time.
“at least I can get laid. Getting a girlfriends easy,” Jamie said.
“nah he’s right mate,” Collin pipped up making Jamie roll his eyes yet again, “getting laid’s the easy bit, you can’t make them stick around,”
“Keeley stuck around,” Jamie tried to argue but this time his teammates just laughed, “what?”
“all yous did was hookup it’s not like yous were proper dating,” Issac said, Collin nodding in agreement, “face it Jamie girls only talk to you for sex,”
Jamie scoffed at the pair but the more he thought about it he was wondering if they were right. Sure, he and Keeley had been together for a few months before they split but every time, they saw each other it always ended in sex. Now he was thinking about it he wasn’t sure if he had taken her on an actual date the whole time, “if I wanted to, I could have a girlfriend,”
“prove it,” Collin said making even Issac raise an eyebrow, “if you can date a girl for a month and get her to be your girlfriend by the end of it, I’ll give you my car,” Issac let out a low whistle as Jamie laughed. Was he seriously considering this? A new car did sound nice though, “but no sex,”
“what?” Jamie said, well almost shouted as he ignored the confused looks from those around, “no sex for a month?”
“what are you some kind of addict?” Issac scoffed at the man, “Collins right. One month, no sex, serious commitment. Then you get his car,”
Jamie shook his head, scoffing as he leant back in his seat. He ignored the probing and teasing of his mates as he considered it for a moment. Sure, he could buy a new car but the feeling of driving Collins car to practise would be pretty sweet, “fine you’re on,” he said suddenly making both boys head snap around.
Collin for a second looked unsure before he added his final stipulation, “but we get to pick the girl,”
Issac and Collin had insisted you don’t find a girlfriend in a club so by the end of practise tomorrow they would assign Jamie his target. When the two came up to him in the locker room after practise Jamie almost regretted the bet when he saw their grin. “we’ve found her,” Issac said.
“the perfect girl,” Collin added, “oh and I’ve decided if I win, I get your car,”
Jamie shrugged as he stood from the bench, “fine deals a deal. Who’s the girl?”
When Issac pulled out his phone for a second Jamie almost felt bad. Almost. He recognised who the insta belonged to instantly. You were Rebecca’s personal assistant, so it was not rare for Jamie to see you floating around Richmond, but he’d never seen your insta before. “no sex yeah?” He said, taking the phone from Issacs hand to look through your pics, “bummer but a deals a deal. Its gonna feel so sweet driving that Lambo,” he grinned as he tossed the phone back to Issac.
“you’ve got a week to ask her out or you instantly fail the challenge,” Issac said, “and as the one not putting his car on the line I’m the captain of this bet,” Jamie rolled his eyes as Issac proceeded to lay down the law, “and if we find out you lied about any after date activities or skipped a date with her then you lose and will owe a fine of £1000,”
Jamie scoffed, gesturing like Issac was a mad man, “whatcha gonna do? Stalk me or some shit?”
“she’s pals with Sam so he’ll tell us,” Collin said before his eyes went wide, “which reminds me no one but us three can know,” he said before glancing around the locker room, “it’s a secret,” he whispered.
Jamie rolled his eyes before pushing past them both, “whatevs boys. Don’t worry I won’t gloat too much when I win,” he grinned as he walked out the locker room leaving everyone, but Issac and Collin confused.
It was as if as soon as the bet started you had disappeared. Jamie was used to seeing you running all over the place but the one time he saw you the first three days was you driving off in your beat-up car. For a second, he thought Rebecca should be paying you better. It didn’t help that each time either of his friends saw him they reminded him the clock was ticking.
On Thursday however when Jamie saw you walk past the gym door, he quickly dropped his weights, running out the room with no thought or care for Roy shouting after him to rerack his weights. You were heading in the directions of the locker room and Jamie saw this as the perfect excuse as he jogged up to your side, “looking for me,” he said making you jump, almost dropping your clipboard.
“Christ Jamie you scared me,” you said, trying to catch your breath and also not make a complete fool out of yourself. “but no, I’m looking for ted. Rebecca needs him to sign something,”
“funny that most girls want my autograph not his,” Jamie said, trying to put on his best charismatic laugh but when you only gave a small chuckle and not a giggle like he was used to him thought he may have to change tactics. “I’ll walk ya. I’ve gotta grab something from my locker anyhow,”
“that’s nice but you don’t have to,” you said, giving him a small smile as you clutched the clipboard close to your chest.
In truth while you were trying to stay professional right now you did have a secret crush on the famous football player. Yes, you knew it was cliche and you knew Jamie flirted with every woman on the planet which is why you were trying to not fall for his adorable smile right now, “ah come on let me keep you company,” Jamie laughed, knocking his shoulder into you, “gets lonely walking these halls,”
You laughed at his dumb attempts at flirting and hated how easily you were falling for it, “ah yes the three-minute walk might be the end of me,”
“good thing you’ve got me to keep ya going love,” he joked.
This banter and small talk were the longest conversation you think you’d ever had with Jamie, and you couldn’t help but notice that while ted was signing the papers, he hadn’t actually grabbed anything from his lockers. “tell you what love,” Jamie said as he held the locker room door open for you, “I’ll even walk you back to where I found you,”
“oh, wow Jamie Tartt, such a gentleman,” you joked.
As you neared the gym again, laughing at one of Jamies dumb flirty jokes you bumped into Sam who said hello with a very concerned look on his face. After he said goodbye to you and you headed back to your office he turned to Jamie with a far more serious look, “what do you think you’re doing?”
“eh nothing?” He said, completely caught off guard by the seriousness in Sams tone.
Sam sighed and stepped in closer to Jamie, “it better be nothing. She is a good girl she doesn’t deserve to have her heart played with,”
“calm down Sam I’ve no done anything,” Jamie said as he tried to get past his teammate, but Sam grabbed his arm to stop him, “seriously man I’m not gonna hurt her,”
“Jamie, I know what you’re like. And that’s fine you can do you. But I won’t let you hurt my friend,” Sam said sternly.
Jamie rolled his eyes as he took Sams hand off his arm, “for your information. I’m a changed man. I plan on being the perfect gentleman from now on, alright?” He said but Sam just narrowed his eyes, “honest man. Getting bored of all this casual pish ya know?” Jamie said as he stuck his hands into his short’s pockets.
It wasn’t fully a lie. Jamie had been getting bored of all the one-night stands and the drama that came along but Sam just narrowed his eyes further before silently heading back to the gym. Jamie rolled his eyes as he followed along and headed to jump on an exercise bike, ignoring how Sam had gone to go whisper to Issac.
A knock on your office door made you look up with a smile, “hey Sam, you alright?” You asked as you shut down your laptop for the day.
“yes of course,” he said as he walked into your office and slumped down onto the chair in front of your desk, “just wanted to see my friend, is that a crime?”
“I’ll allow it,” you laughed as you packed your bag, “you need a lift home?” You asked as you grabbed your car keys.
“I wouldn’t say no,” he grinned as he jumped right back out the chair and you both began your decent to the car park, “but I was wanting to talk to you about something,”
“what’s up?” You said as you locked your office door.
Sam sighed as he followed you through the corridors, “what’s happening with you and Jamie?”
You shrugged, honestly not sure yourself what was happening, “nothing really, we were just talking. Did he say something or?” You asked.
“kind of,” Sam said, his face screwing up for a second, “he said he was a gentleman now, but I worry. I don’t want you getting hurt,”
“I’m a big girl Sam,” you joked, nudging him, and making him laugh, “besides he’s Jamie tart. I doubt he meant it,”
“according to Issac he does,” Sam said which honestly made you more surprised than anything. You spoke to Issac even less than you had Jamie, so it was weird to think of him and Jamie having deep conversations about settling down, “apparently, he wants to settle down or something. I don’t know whether to believe it but why would Issac lie?”
“weird,” you muttered as you and Sam finally reached the car park and he held the door for you to slip out, “besides that doesn’t mean he wants to be with me,”
“don’t put yourself down,” Sam said, nudging you with his elbow as he sent you a reassuring smile, “he’d be lucky to even get one date with you,”
“you have to say that” you said as you rolled your eyes and pulled out your car keys.
As you were unlocking your car the door to the car park opened again and out walked a freshly showered Jamie, his hair still clearly damp. He didn’t have a right to look this attractive you thought but you’d been looking for too long as when Jamie looked up, he caught your stare.
He waved with a wide grin as he headed over to his own car across the lot. You gave a small wave back as you slipped into the driver’s seat. You glanced across through Sams window to see he was still looking at you and you prayed to god he couldn’t see how flustered you were as you tried to start the car. Sam had seen though, and merciless teasing followed you the whole drive back to his house.
Jamie figured he had time, so he spent the next two days flirting with you in the corridors despite Issac and Collin reminding him he only had to Sunday. However, Sunday was matchday and you were always in the owner’s box with Rebecca. While she was your boss you had grown quite close, so you often sat wedged between her and Keeley as you tried to keep up with the team.
“did Jamie just wave to you?” Keeley asked as Jamie ran onto the pitch. Your blush was undisguisable as you tried to shrug it off, “omg babes you fancy him?” She practically squealed as she clutched your arm.
“maybe I don’t know,” you said, hating the way his name was already making you smile. “he’s your ex though so- “
“nah babes go for it. I’ve got Roy now. Oh, we could double date how cute!” The rest of the match was spent with Keeley telling you how perfect it would be, and you figured if his ex-spoke so highly of him then how bad could he be?
The match went smashing with Richmond winning three nil and soon you were in the press room stood next to Rebecca as ted got interviewed and you took notes. You looked up confused when Rebecca nudged you, but she just nodded towards the door. When you looked through the window you saw Jamie lent against the wall by the door and when you looked back to Rebecca she just smirked and nudged you towards the door.
You silently chuckled at the fact she’d obviously listened to yours and Keeley’s conversation as you made your way to talk to Jamie. “hey,” you grinned, shutting the door behind you softly. “you did great out there,”
“was easy with you cheering me on,” he smirked as he started walking down the corridor with you following after him.
“who said I was cheering for you?” You joked.
Jamie held a hand to his heart in mock offence, “love you’re breaking my heart here. Here I was coming to ask if you wanted to go celebrate my glorious victory,”
“cocky much?” You laughed but rolled your eyes at the way he smirked, “fuck off not like that,”
“didn’t say a thing,” Jamie shrugged but the devious smile on his lips said something different. “c’mon whatcha say love?”
You paused for a moment, crossing your arms as you turned to face him, “what did you have in mind?”
“you, me, fancy restaurant,” Jamie said, stepping closer, his finger brushing over your cheek so gently it felt like a feather, “some nice wine. Just some wholesome fun,”
“wholesome fun?” You laughed, trying not to get lost in his eyes. It was unfair this allure he had on you.
Jamie chuckled softly, “course babe,” the pet names sounded so good coming from him and his accent, “haven’t you heard? I’m a gentleman now,” he said, his hand falling from your face making you miss his touch but laugh at the way he placed his hand over his heart, “scouts honour,”
“were you even a scout?” You laughed as he shook his head no with a cheesy grin, “suppose one date wouldn’t kill me,”
“trust me love. You won’t regret it,”
You didn’t want to say you were shocked, but Jamie was right. The night had been perfect. You ate some of the best food in your life, drank some ridiculously expensive wine, and even started to flirt back with Jamie over dinner. He really was pulling out all the stops.
He wore his best suit, with a shirt as well even if he couldn’t bring himself to ditch the trainers. He pulled your chair out for you, ordered dessert to share, he even insisted on walking you home at the end of the night. “guess that’s me,” you said as you stood by your front door.
“guess so,” Jamie smiled as he looked down at you, “told you you wouldn’t regret it,” he said, completely ruining the moment but making you laugh as you unlocked your front door.
“give it time. I might regret it later,” you joked as you opened your door, half wondering if Jamie was going to try invite himself in. You were also wondering whether or not to let him. The night had been good after all, and you weren’t usually so strict on the three-date rule.
“I’ll text ya yeah?” Jamie said since he had only just got your number on the walk home, “better not be a fake one you gave me,” he joked.
“you’ll have to wait and see,” you laughed. Maybe he wasn’t going to try make a move then you thought, “goodnight, Jamie,”
Jamie stepped forward. He’s going to kiss me you thought but instead he leaned in to leave a soft kiss on your cheek, “night love,” he said quietly before stepping back, grinning at the way he had left you speechless, “see ya soon babe,” he said as he began to walk down the street.
You waved after him, unable to speak before you closed the door behind yourself. This really had been the perfect date. Maybe Jamie was a gentleman now. When you went to get changed you felt your phone buzz and you laughed when you saw the text.
-just checking – Jamie
You laughed, texting him back instantly.
-as if I’d give you a fake number lol
Jamie grinned when he saw your reply before tucking his phone into his jacket pocket. However, as Jamie was walking home a thought crossed his mind. Fuck, what if he really did like you? Sure, Jamie knew the bet was probably a morally wrong thing to do but it was for a Lamborghini, Collins prized car. He spent the rest of his walk home telling himself it was alright, even if he did end up liking you what was the harm? He’d date you for a month then give you a clean, mess free break up.
Then another issue started. Jamie had fallen for you head over heels. You’d spent the whole night texting, the next week constantly flirting or hanging out after practise. Within two weeks you had been on three dates and Collin had commented on his dedication to win this car which only made Jamie feel worse.
He’d kissed you on your second date after visiting the movies. He even waited till after the movie was finished to do it. It did not help him not fall for you. If anything, it made it harder to stay away from you. Your third week dating you hung out every day whether it be grabbing lunch or making dinner at his house.
The only drawback was Jamie having to turn down your advances, insisting he wanted to take it slow. But by week four he didn’t even mind not having sex. The casual nights watching telly was enough for him. The way you would cuddle him on the couch or how you would lounge around his house with him, both of you wearing his sweats and hoodies. Seeing you in his hoodie melted his heart.
“three more days and the cars are yours bruv,” Issac had said to him during practise and Jamie realised a terrifying thought. What if you found out?
Jamie shrugged it off, trying to forget about it the whole time but it weighed him down the whole practise. Jamie deliberately hung back in the locker room that night, making sure he could catch Collin alone, “maybe we should call off the bet mate,” he said quietly as the last person exited the room.
“why? Scared she’s gonna dump ya?” He laughed as he patted his shoulder before leaving the locker room and now Jamie was left alone to feel like shit.
That was till a gentle knock snapped him out of his thoughts, “ready to go?” You smiled from the locker room door. Jamie put on his best happy face as he grabbed his bag, wrapping his arm around you as you headed to the car park.
The whole walk Jamie was silently thinking about the shit he had landed himself in. Then again, the bet never said he had to break up with you. Issac had said only him, and Collin were allowed to know. He could just let Collin keep his car and no one would need to know. Yeah, it would be fine. He was sure of it. Everything would be fine. Jamie had no idea how wrong he was and how badly this week was going to end.
Jamie tried to push it out of his head that night, but it was now the only thing he could think about. You were both laying on the couch, you being the big spoon while he rested his head on your chest. “You okay baby?” You asked while stroking his hair. “You’ve been quiet all day,”
Jamie was snapped out of his thoughts glancing over to you with a small smile, “Sorry love. Just one of those days you know?”
Jamie tried his best to act normal for the rest of the night but when it came time for him to say goodnight and head back to his place, he found himself unable to pull away when he hugged you. “You sure you’re good?” You asked, your face pressed into his chest while his head buried into your shoulder.
“Course love,” Jamie said, placing a soft kiss to your shoulder, “Just gonna miss you is all,”
“Jamie,” you laughed, pulling him off you, “You will see me in legit less than twelve hours,” you said smiling as you leaned up to kiss him gently, “I’m not going anywhere,”
“Promise?” He said, his eyes sheepishly looking to the floor.
You laughed as you reached out, taking his pinkie in yours, “Promise,”
For the next two days Jamie was extra cuddly, extra lovey dovey, and extra boyfriendy all round. You weren’t sure what had gotten into him, figuring maybe the one-month mark was a bigger deal to him than you first thought. You ended up getting dragged into one of Rebecca and Keeley’s girl talks and when you told them about it. “Maybe he wants to get serious,” Rebecca said as she snacked on one of Teds biscuits, “He might just be nervous about it all. I wouldn’t worry,”
“Yeah babes,” Keeley said as she gave your arm a squeeze, “Jamie legit adores you he’s probs just nervous cause you’re his first long term girlfriend,”
“You think?” You said, nervously picking at the threads of your jumper.
“Totally,” Keeley said, looking to Rebecca who nodded in agreement, “Maybe he’s just nervous about your one-month anniversary,”
“Is that really a thing?” Rebecca asked, sitting down her biscuits in disbelief at the idea one month was a big deal.
Even you looked to Keeley confused, “Well yeah,” Keeley said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, “Its sweet when you think about it. You’ve made him all soft,” she teased, poking your sides, and making you laughed. You were finally able to relax, and Keeley had even suggested getting him a gift.
The first gift you came up with that Keeley instantly agreed upon was sex. You really liked Jamie but this whole taking it slow thing was going really really slow. On top of making sure to wear something nice under your clothes on your one-month anniversary of your first date you had also gotten him, well made, a gift.
You didn’t exactly want to spend tons on a one-month gift, especially since Jamie had expensive tastes with his footballer salary, but you’d picked up a cheap football from a sports shop and a sharpie. You covered the ball in notes ranging from inside jokes to cheesy pick-up lines including ‘my favourite footballer’ and writing ‘you scored the best goal on’ then adding the day of your date. You were quite proud of it but just encase you took a box of chocolates as well.
The day had been so busy that you didn’t even get to see Jamie before you were rushed off to deal with a Rebecca crisis. No matter how busy you were you made sure to text Jamie at least once in the morning but when Jamie saw your text, he couldn’t help but smile.
-Happy one month anniversary babe, pick you up after work for a hot date?
Jamie was blissfully unaware of what was to come as he typed out his response before heading to the pitch. Collin had insisted the bet wasn’t over till the end of practice and Issac had let it slide, seeing the regret in his friends’ eyes when he realised, he was going to lose his car. Jamie couldn’t care less about the car though as he thought he was finally free from the bet.
He wanted to run up to your office as soon as practise ended but Issac insisted, he wait with him and Collin in the locker room till everyone else had left. When Danni finally left the room, waving bye to his mates as he left, Collin let out a heavy sigh as he pulled out his keys. “I can’t believe I’m doing this,” he said, his voice already choked.
“Mate its just a car,” Jamie said, already so fed up and wanting to find you.
“Bruv,” Isaac said, holding a hand to his chest, “a moment of respect,” he said, allowing Collin to whisper a goodbye to his keys as Jamie rolled his eyes, “Okay Collin its time. Jamie won the bet fair and square,” he said as he pried the keys from Collins hands and handing them to Jamie who sighed as he took them.
“I really, really thought she’d have broken up with you by now,” Collin said, shaking his head as he collapsed onto a bench, his head hanging low.
Jamie rolled his eyes at the dramatics of it all as Issac patted his shoulder, “I didn’t think he could go without sex for this long,” Issac added before nodding at Jamie, “Fair play mate but if you do dump her just don’t be a dick about it,”
“And for the love of god do not dent the car,” Collin pipped up as he lifted his head however when he did Jamie noticed all the colour draining from his face, “Eh mate. Bit of a situation,” he muttered, nodding his head towards the door.
Jamie spans around on his heels and his heart dropped to his stomach when he saw you stood there, tears already trickling down your face. Jamies mouth dried up as he searched for the words when the ball and chocolates slipped from your hand and clattered to the floor. “It’s not what- “Jamie tried to say but you were already backing away before turning to run down the corridor. “You fucking idiots,” Jamie yelled at his teammates before taking off down the corridor after you.
You’d think a professional footballer would catch up with you with ease but when Jamie ran into the car park you were already unlocking your car. “Wait,” he yelled, running over, and closing the door with his hand you’d tried to open.
“Why?” You spat, “Do you need me to prove you won?”
“Babe its- “Jamie tried to say, his hands reaching to hold your shoulders.
You slapped them away in an instant, “don’t babe me,” your voice was filled with anger but the tears streaming down your face was what broke Jamies heart, “You fucking used me. For some fucking bet. Is that all this was to you?”
“No of course not,” Jamie said, his hand grabbing his hair as he backed up slightly so at least you weren’t trapped against the car, “it was just some dumb bet but it’s not like I don’t like you. I really fucking like you,”
“Yeah right,” you scoffed turning to get in the car before stopping, “What did you even win?”
Jamie didn’t know if this would make it worse or better, but he knew lying was definitely the wrong choice, “Collins Lambo,” he said, his voice sounding more like a question as he waited to see your reaction.
“You only dated me because of a fucking car?” You yelled, not caring who heard anymore, “You broke my heart because of a car?!”
“I didn’t wanna hurt you-fuck,” Jamie said, his eyes growing wetter with each second as he tried not to throw up from the guilt, “I promise you that I like you. I think I fucking love you and I’ve never felt this way before and- “
You sighed, turning away as you tried to choke back a sob, “Be honest with me Jamie,” you said, refusing to meet his eyes, “If they hadn’t made the bet, would you have ever asked me out?” You waited for his response but when you turned round to see his jaw hanging open, his eyes wide, you knew the answer. “Don’t talk to me. Ever again,” you said as you jumped into your car and quickly sped off.
Jamie had well and truly fucked it. He felt like his body was on fire as he began to slap his own head, muttering a thousand fucks under his breath. Meanwhile you were trying your best not to be blinded by your own tears as you drove home alone to curl up on the couch and wallow.
A few hours passed and you were still on the couch with a massive tub of ice cream and a million texts from Keeley asking for a follow up from your ‘we broke up’ text. You couldn’t even bring yourself to text her back let alone go answer the door when someone rang your doorbell. Then it rang away. “Go away,” you groaned, sinking further into the couch.
Ring. Ring. Ring. The bell echoed through the house till you tore yourself off the couch, ready to go scream at the idiot at your door. But when you pulled it open and saw his big guilty brown eyes staring back at you, you couldn’t say a word. Especially not when you noticed the red puffiness around his eyes and the way they were already watering again.
“Is that my hoodie?” Jamie asked, his voice quiet and broken as he nodded to the oversized hoodie covering your frame. You paused for a moment before nodding silently. Jamie sighed, his eyes growing sadder, if possible, “Can I come in?”
You paused again, not knowing if your vocal cords could even manage the potential screaming match. Jamie shuffled on his feet, his eyes moving to the floor before you finally spoke, “Fine,” you whispered before heading back to sink into the couch.
Jamie followed, shutting the door behind you both and tentatively walking to your living room. His eyes scanned the room and he almost cried when he saw the ice cream, blankets, and crappy reality show on the tv. He’d made you cry. He’d broke your heart. No matter what happened he knew he could never forgive himself for that.
"I know I had no right coming over here," he started as he sat on the opposite end of the couch trying to give you as much space. You were already curled up on the other end, your eyes glued to the now muted tv as you avoided his gaze, "and believe me I know I don't deserve ya. But I couldn't walk away leaving you thinking I didn't like ya because I did and I still do," he said, his voice dripping with desperation as he searched his pockets.
He began to pull out one post it after the next making you look up at the sound of paper ruffling. They were all pretty crumbled up but Jamie picked them up one by one, "I love how smart you are and how you seem to know everything but don't explain things to me like I'm stupid," he began to read off the post it's chucking them on the couch before grabbing the next, "I love how when you laugh you look at the ground to try hide your face,"
"I love how we can lay on the couch together and not say a word
I love when you hold me and scratch my head
I love when you get sleepy during a movie and crash out on my arm
I love hearing your snores even if you pretend you don’t
I love holding your hand in public and getting to show you off to my friends"
Jamie continued as he read off at least 40 more post its which you picked up one by one as he grabbed the next. When he went to grab another your hand reached out to stop his and for a moment you allowed yourself to enjoy his touch, "I know it's not as good as the football," Jamie said softly, "but I mean it all. And I hate myself for hurting you,"
"you should never hate yourself," you muttered making a small smile creep on Jamie's lips, "When did it stop being just a bet?" you asked, scared for the answer.
"During our first date," he said making you look at him with a raised eyebrow, "I swear. I was blind for not seeing you before but on that date, it was--you were incredible. I couldn't stop thinking about you all night. I tried to call of the bet, but Issac thought I was just scared to lose," Jamie rambled before pausing for a moment and sighing," I never wanted to hurt you. I promise. You have to believe me," he said as he reached for your hand.
"It's just hard," you said, your voice already choking up again making Jamie almost cry himself, "and I really want to believe you because for fucksake Jamie, I love you too," the words he had longed to hear shot daggers into his heart.
"If you want to never hear from me again, I’ll go," Jamie said, holding your hands tightly and making you finally meet his eyes again, "but if you'll have me ill spend every day making this up to you. I promise. You, this, us. It's the best thing that's ever happened to me,"
You paused for a moment as Jamie's heart pounded in his chest, "One more chance," you whispered making Jamie break out into a grin, but you quickly added, "but if you so much as step a toe out of line,"
"I won't," Jamie cut you off as he gripped your hands tightly, "I’ll do whatever it takes. I’ll be the perfect boyfriend, honest," you couldn't help laughing a little at his eagerness. Jamie raised your hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to each of your knuckles, "

Secret Arrangement
(f/s) = favorite show
Warnings: slight violence, language, lil bit of kissing
Tumblr media
Natasha clutched her side, glaring at the (now unconscious) Hydra agent who had shot her.
"You ass."
"He can't hear you, you know." Clint said, appearing beside her.
"Yeah, but he's still an ass." She looked down at her side, seeing the hole from the bullet going straight through. Thunder booming in the background because of Thor's earlier lightning theatrics.
"We should get back so you can have Banner check that out."
"Yeah, I guess." Natasha winced slightly, the pain from the bullet wound spiking whenever she moved. They walked back to the quinjet, Bruce immediately getting up to check her wound once they were in. "What time is it?" she asked, hoping she wasn't late.
"It's 8," Bruce responded, patching up her side. "You have to go back to the compound, I don't have all the stuff to treat you."
"No. What time are we going to get back, Tony?"
"Probably around 10, why? Hot date?"
Yes, actually.
"I have plans at 9, is there anyway we can go faster?"
Tony turned around in the pilot seat, grinning at me. "Hell yeah, we can go faster."
 "Language!"
 •••••
Natasha looked at her watch, wincing when she saw that it was already 10 past 9. "So, are you still continuing your plans with (y/n)? Y'know since you're injured and all that." Clint asked.
Her jaw dropped. "How do you know about, (y/n)?"
They had been careful to keep their relationship a secret so that (y/n) would never get targeted by someone who wanted to hurt Natasha or get revenge on her.
He snorted. "Please, you've been my friend for years. You think I wouldn't find out about you being in a serious relationship with someone? But back to my question, are you canceling your plans with her or not?"
She looked around, making sure no one had heard him, only to meet eyes with Wanda who was sitting a couple meters away. She looked surprised, turning to Vision who was sitting on one side with Pietro on the other.
Nat sighed. "Yeah, I think so. I'm injured and I don't want to worry her so I'll wait til I'm all healed up then head home."
She was disappointed, she had planned a whole surprise for her and now (y/n) wouldn't get to see it.
 "Well...that's stupid."
 "What?"
"She's gonna worry more if you spend the night in the infirmary than if you go home late to your plans." Clint said, twirling an arrow in his hands.
"I have a gunshot wound," she said, emphasizing the words. "You don't think she's gonna worry if I go home right now?"
He shook his head, exasperated. "She's an Emergency Room doctor. She's used to that stuff and she'll know that your side will be fine. So yeah, she'll worry, but not as much as if you spend the night in the med wing. Let her treat your wound. "
"Hmm," she thought about it. The thought of seeing you even sooner was appealing. "For once you're right, Clint," she raised her voice, "Hey, Tony! Drop me off at my apartment complex!"
 •••••
"So, how exactly are you getting down?" Tony called out, keeping us hovering over my building.
"Just lower the rope ladder." Natasha responded, ready to get home.
"I'll do you one better," he said, then proceeded to land in the empty parking lot.
"Thanks, I guess, though seriously I could've just used the ladder," she told him, standing up from my seat.
"Yeah, but I wasn't gonna go down the rope ladder sooo," he said, also standing up from his chair.
"You're not coming with me," she stated firmly.
"Sure I am," Tony said with a smirk, "anyone else wanna come with me to see why Romanoff has been skipping out on us?"
"I already know why," Wanda said, sending me a knowing look. "But yes I'd like to come too."
Natasha sighed, mind readers are annoying.
"If Wanda is going I believe I should go too, " Vision said.
"Me too," Pietro chimed in, the rest of them quickly agreeing.
Natasha walked out of the quinjet, turning around and glaring at all her teammates. Steve, Tony, Thor, Wanda, Pietro, Vision, Bruce, and Clint all following her off of the aircraft. Natasha walked quickly, arriving at the apartment door quickly. They must've looked strange, the Avengers standing in the dark corridor outside of an upscale apartment, all of them still in their gear.
Natasha unlocked the door, opening it quietly. The hallway was dimly light, the scarce light shining from the living room. She could hear the sound of the TV, she smiled, (y/n) must be back to binging her (f/s). Nat turned around, shutting the door on her teammates, enjoying the shock written across their faces but wincing slightly from a pain that came from her side.
She heard the TV pause, "Tash?" Light footsteps came toward her, Nat moving to meet them.
"Hey, babe," she saw her, those lovely (e/c) eyes meeting hers as a delighted smile flitted across her face.
You moved to give her a hug only for her to stop you. You looked at her, confused.
At least, until she smashed her lips onto yours. You responded quickly, your lips moving together perfectly as she backed you up against the wall. Winding one arm around your waist while one held your face. You gasped into the kiss, bringing one hand to the name of her neck while the other settled on her hip.
Nat winced, stopping the kiss before continuing.
But you noticed the small flinch.
"Wait, wait," your mouth murmured against hers as you pulled away. Grabbing her hand and leading her to the couch, you lifted up her shirt. "Tash you should've told me," you sighed, looking at the stitches that Bruce had put there to close the wound.
"Didn't seem to matter-" there was a loud knock at the door, "I'll get it."
"No, you will not." You stood up, "I'll get the door and you relax."
You turned and walked down the hall, Nat heard her open the door and talk to someone. She stood up when she heard the many footsteps coming down the hall. You entered the room, the Avengers coming in after her.
She scowled, "I told you to relax, sit down."
"Lady Widow, who is this beautiful woman?" Thor asked.
Natasha held up her left hand, showing the simple gold and silver band circling her finger. "She's my wife."
"You're married?!"
 "The fuck?"
 "Since when?"
The Natasha Romanoff brainrot has set in, if you couldn't tell.

You went for a night out with your friends James Potter, Lily Evans, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. You loved getting to spend time with them as all four of them had been there with you through thick and thin.
The five of you had gone out to a club and you went to the bar to get another drink for yourself. As you were standing there, waiting for your drinks, it felt like someone was watching you. You glanced around and saw a guy standing a few seats away staring straight at you, and not breaking the stare, which scared you a bit.
“Can I help you?”, you asked him warily.
“Just admiring the view,” he said simply, while looking you up and down.
You turned away from him as the bartender put your drink in front of you. You picked it up and turned to leave, only to find him right behind you, and because of this, you almost walked straight into him. You spilled a little of your drink and it landed on the floor. You steadied yourself and as you did so, he took a step closer, closing you in. You could not get away from him. He made sure to put both his arms on the bar either side of you.
Knowing you could not get away from him, you glanced over where your friends were to see James looking concerned and staring at you silently asking if you needed help. You hoped how scared you were to get through to him as you looked him directly in the eye.
Thankfully, it seemed to as he turned to the other guys and said something to them, but you could not keep looking at them, because the idiot in front of you put his finger under your chin, making you look at him.
“How about we get out of here? I could show you what a real man feels like,” he told you.
You fought the urge to throw up in your mouth, but you didn’t have to do much as you felt someone wrap one of their arms around you, as they yelled, “hands off my girlfriend” at him and you realised one of your best friends; Sirius Black had come to your rescue.
He pulled you into his arms and kissed you. He pulled back and looked you in the eyes, “are you ok? Did he hurt you?”
You shook your head, and moved more into his arms. He moved his head down so you could whisper in his ear, “he didn’t hurt me, Siri, but he scares me and creeps me out. He won’t leave me alone.”
“That’s ok, doll,” he whispered back. “I’ve got you now.”
You put your head into the crook of his neck and hugged him as you heard him yell, “If you come near my girl again, I will hurt you.” His voice went deeper as he growled, “now leave.”
You guess he must have left because Sirius guided you to the bar stools and ordered drinks for both of you. The girl behind the counter told him, “they’re on the house. Not everyone would’ve done what you just did.”
“No, but she’s my best friend and the love of my life,” he told the bartender. He smiled softly down at you. “If you’ll have me, I’d love to be your boyfriend.”
You smiled up at him and you saw that he was looking at you with so much adoration, “I’ve been in love with you for the last three years, Sirius. I would be an idiot to say no.”
He kissed you and as you pulled away from each other, you leaned on him.
The bartender handed you your drinks. You turned and thanked her before both of you took them and proceeded to walk back to your friends.
Sirius wrapped his arm around you as you both sat down as he spent the next ten minutes telling the story and answering questions about it with so much pizazz to every one of your friends.
James, your best friend - aside from Sirius, smiled at both of you together, before laughing as he said, “we’ve been spending so long trying to get the two of you together and it turns out all it took was him saving you for him to get his act together and ask you out.”

“Come on man; I already explained things to you… I don’t have a girlfriend. Don’t be stupid.”
“Oh, is that the really the case?”
“Dawn… I know who you’re talking about and you’re dead wrong. She is just my best friend and there’s nothing else in the middle. I don’t know what made you think about anything about that.”
Dawn chuckled.
“What do you mean, Jae-in? Eve you called her as your ‘girlfriend’ at some point, right?”
“I did that because she’s a girl, right? She’s also my friend, so I think it just makes sense that I warrant myself calling her that. And by the way, I did that because of that one particular time that Shinwon and Kino drank their butts off and started asking stupid questions. I remember answering back at their claims just to make them both shut up. It was my only way out.”
“Well, sometimes things do work out like that especially with Shinwon and Kino. It’s funny how we don’t often see them talking together recently… “
“Hey, I don’t know what’s with you and the rest of UK, but why are y’all putting me in the hot seat now? You have no idea how much of a chore I had to endure with all the questioning from Hongseok and the others. Heck, even Yeri is being added to the mix and I can’t do anything about it. It feels weird that I’m complaining about this now, especially when I was so cool at it a while back but… I guess I was just uncomfortable talking about Soyeon especially to them. I only felt that when I was already relaying what transpired.”
“I don’t know about them… as far as I’m concerned, I just want to everyone else to be happy. I mean, look how well this first official date went with Jisoo. Like I said, if I don’t screw things up, this boat is sailing away smoothly. As a friend, I want those same things to happen to you guys as well, especially you, my man. I can’t even express to you how happy am I knowing my friends are good with Jisoo. It makes my efforts for her more relaxed knowing I have you guys behind me.”
“I’m happy for you man. It turned out to be a good idea that you brought us on this.”
“Wait, Jae-in… I just realized something…”
“Which is…?”
“You know with all of these happening… I’m sorry but I’ll have to introduce Soyeon to the conversation again. Do you mind?”
“Go ahead, I guess. We’re pretty much talking about her already at this point so might as well.”
Dawn scratched the back of his head just as he and Jae-in crossed a street towards a bright shop, of where they proceeded to continue on walking.
“I realized that… it’s been a while since you and Soyeon went dating, or went out, whatever… I just figured, you never introduced her to anyone else rather than the group, am I correct? I’m curious as to how she’d react with Soyeon given her personality is drastically different from most of us.”
“Who are we talking about? Is it Yujin?”
“Of course man, who else could it be? You know how Yujin works and how she’s so picky with stuff, especially those who date you. It’s funny to think how Wonyoung hated her so much back in high school and her predictions never came to fruition. You and Yujin were still friends up to this day. It’s hilarious when I think about how much that hated seeing each other because of you. I wonder how your ex would react once she finds out that you two have gone stronger ever since.”
“I get where you’re going at. Yujin is pretty much very nitpicky on whoever I’m dating, or having an intention to date but she has her reasons. After what happened with Wonyoung, she made sure to have my back ever since. She’s always been the brain in my heart, as I tend to act out of impulse without thought. I would go as far and say that she’s the voice inside my head telling me to think twice about things before heading in, which is exactly why I trust her so much. Also, you know how guys have that hint whenever a dickhead is hitting on a girl with malicious intent? Girls have that too, man, and Yujin’s been the one warning me of everything… well, at least until recently anyway.”
“Yeah, I know that. I just wondered, in case you introduced Soyeon to her… what do you think she’d say about her, then? Do you think she’s going to have the same thought like you did?”
“Knowing Yujin, she’ll be the first person to tell me to back off. All those realizations, all those reasons why I chose to end it with Soyeon… I’m sure she would have seen it coming before I even thought about it. It would feel as if she’d be the one to back off for me while I still can’t get the courage to do so. I don’t know; like I said: womanly instincts. She’d be sure to tease about it to me at some point along that, too.”
Dawn nodded.
“Well, in a way I envy you; girls are pretty hard to understand. At least you have Yujin there to help you out for things, especially on the red flags we guys are normally blind to.”
“I guess so… although with that whole thing with Soyeon, I never really told her anything. Joohyun-noona even knows more than her on this regard… I guess I never really had the chance to tell her as it went on… I just never thought of her as well. With how quiet she is, maybe she’s just really busy recently.
“You know what, come to think of it… I never saw Yujin since the semester began. I guess being on a different engineering department ought to show how dedicated she is compared to us, and how physically and mentally committed she is on school. Then again, I didn’t expect less from a high school top student. At least she’s not spending her weekends going to bars like we do.”
“Jae-in, but I heard that you barely join Kyungsoo and the others when they invite you out. I heard that you’re not even showing up.”
There was a pause, which involved Jae-in giving his friend a joking glare only for Dawn to return it with a smirk.
“Okay, Mr Smart-ass, I know you’re happy. I get it. I’m happy for you as well. I just don’t get why Yujin suddenly got dragged into this conversation out of nowhere. Point is I really haven’t talked to her for a while so she has no idea what’s going on with me. It might surprise her with how much shit I’ve been through without even being halfway across the semester.”
“Maybe that’s the point. I genuinely got curious how come she’s never heard of anything… surprised, even. You got to tell her and catch up, man. You two have been through a lot and she ought to know at some point. In that case, it would be better if it would be from you.”
Kim Hyojong and Yoon Jae-in reached the end path of the long street they have been traversing on. The skies have completely showed its vibrant purple hue as the day succumbed into the incoming evening. As always, Seoul’s bright night life had begun to bare itself amidst the baby steps of the twilight. Shops began to show their innate beauty along with the approaching evening, with Jae-in only being able to realize what he was missing right as he and Hyojong were about to part ways. He stood with his eyes on the marketplace’s humble horizon, its roof carefully etched to match the elegance of the incoming dusk.
Maybe I should. I do kinda miss that chaos of a girl as well.
---
After the grand culmination of Dawn’s plan, it was suffice to say that he had once again become incognito, but I quite expected that. I really could not blame him; after that good enough of a start, he ought to focus all of his efforts towards Jisoo if he really want to make the most out of what has been given to him. Plus, the rest of the United Kwangya have been really confined lately, with the conversations solely existing between the occasional appearances of Ningning complaining about how she constantly forgets her basic maths skills, Kino teasing her about it, Kyungsoo moderating all of them. Yeri and Shinwon became the new love birds of the group effectively replacing me and Soyeon, which was a good thing. Granted, we never really displayed our affection in front of our friends, even if it was just a group chat, but at least the rest of the members attention were focused on them and not us. They didn’t even bother to bring up the topic of Jisoo and Dawn for the rest of the conversations.
Still, there was no word from Soyeon, as expected. It was also rather odd that I don’t see her around campus, be it with Ningning or Kyungsoo even for just a chance encounter. I don’t know if she’s doing that on purpose or we’re really just not allowed to see each other with fate dictating what the best is for both of us.
But I guess I could not complain with that. At least she and I could get a huge breathing room.
With the threat of the exams just being around the corner, I figured I might as well grab the chance to catch up with a long-time friend of mine. Who knows when she’ll be busy again?
I messaged Yujin exactly on that night that Dawn and I went our separate ways. Well, given the really tight schedule of this particular woman, I had to arrange our next get-together after quite a long time. Days passed and it was another weekend, and like how it passed by with Hyojong I found myself on a local bubble tea shop with a rather high, wooden ceiling. It was this small, compact space with a natural vibe echoing off of it with the wooden furniture, floorboards, ceiling, as well as the entire house-like feel of it. The open windows raged from all around, with the rear exit offering a veranda filled with chairs coupled with the breath-taking view of the city.
As much as I love the feel of the wind grazing my face as we’d consume our respective bubble teas, with the length of Yujin’s hair it ought to get to her face at some point. I don’t want to ruin her experience here just because of that, so I elected to pick tables indoors.
“Jae-in, heya,” I heard her voice call from the entrance of the shop’s doorway, appearing all in her youthful presence as she supplied me with an enthusiastic smile. “You finally decided to ask me out, hmmm? Can’t seem to find the perfect fairy for all this?”
Ahn Yujin greeted me on the same way she would almost every time I see her, and that is always with a wide smile over her tall stature. She showed up today with the clear understanding that white was the colour for that meet, having decided to wear a matching white long sleeves and track pants, finished with her white sneakers that fixed the over-all get-up while a folded jacket draped over her arm. Yujin had once again decided to have her bangs, and I think it suited her perfectly. Seeing her on a hairstyle I haven’t seen her do since high school, and especially on this time that I haven’t seen her for a while, it felt so nostalgic and very comforting in a way. It did felt like a relief to see my best friend from highschool looking and glowing so well. I’d lie if I didn’t miss this girl one bit.
“Give me a break, Yujin,” I replied to her as I smirked. “This might be on me but it’s far from being a date. I already ordered and it’s already here for you. I was actually serious when I said that your tea might screw itself up when you come in late.”
“Excuse me, oppa; you’re the one who’s early. I’m just in time. If this tastes bad, I’m going to ask you for another one.”
“I’m willing to bet that it’s not. I made sure to get your favourite.”
“Is that so?” Yujin replied as she rather surprisingly took the space next to me instead of the chair opposite where I was seated. She placed the small hand bag she had with her and brushed her bangs before taking the drink ordered for her.
“You know that there is a chair opposite me, right?”
“Well, I can see that. I can also see that you’re smart enough to pick the couch for yourself. In that case, endure sitting there. At least you have a pretty fairy next to you; that’s not a loss whatsoever.”
“It feels like it’s you who missed teasing me, Yujinnah. It almost makes me feel bad that I treated you out here,” I replied to her as a joke, which immediately earned a slap towards my arm.
“Yah, fine I’ll just stop,” she said and then proceeded to sip from the drink I bought her. “So what’s up with the sudden call, Jae-in? Are you heartbroken again?”
Oh my god… the fact that I know she’s joking but at the same time being so spot on is crazy on itself.
Now it feels awkward to open up because she did it first like that.
“I guess that’s the case then. You’re silence is more than enough evidence for it. Plus, your face says it all,” she concluded before I could even speak.
It’s so hard when someone knows you so damn much.
“Come on now… of course at some point I’m going to have to ask you out for us to catch up. I know how busy your department could get, being stuck on huge Chem books and all. I’m surprised that you even squeezed me into your busy sched.”
“It’s not that hectic, Jae-in, really. Most of you people are pretty much exaggerating when it comes to our study habits as well as our activities.”
“Really…? So everything that I’ve been hearing was just an exaggeration? Is that why I never even managed to bump unto you if it was even just by chance? It’s like we’re not even in the same university, you know.”
“Well… actually… it’s not an exaggeration because it’s an understatement, really. Oh my… you have no idea how happy I am that you asked me out, actually. I’ve never felt so burned out recently. You not being my classmate take a lot of time getting used to.”
“You’re not used to being around that much of a girl circle now, do you?”
“It’s… It’s definitely different. The people I’m with now… I feel like they’re so pigeonholed into the one goal of the degree we’re all pursuing. I get that, but I’m naturally a fun and outgoing person so… having to stay back with them feels really hard, especially when I’m used to being with you and not taking things all too seriously while still making things work out. It feels impossible to do that now. I also kinda miss us walking home together and sharing some street food on the way to the apartment like we did before. I can’t do that now because… I need to be high profile to blend in. It sucks for my wallet, too.”
“Did I mishear you or did you just tell me that you missed me?”
Yujin nearly choked from her chocolate mix as she supressed a laugh. That was not really intentional.
“Maybe I did… this entire thing of us going out felt so refreshing to me. I’m being serious now.”
“Well, if that’s the case… I’m happy that I thought of asking you when I did. I just figured that maybe it was high time for us to catch up on a couple different axes. I also figured things have come really differently on our first semester away from each other. I was wondering how you’re dealing with the change.”
“I don’t think I have to worry about you now, do I?” She said; keeping her keen eyes planted on my drink at the desk. “I heard a lot from Kyungsoo-oppa. He told me that you’ve been hanging out a lot with them at bars every weekend. Is that true?”
“Umm…”
Well, technically…
“If that’s really the case, then I’m really envious. I don’t think I’ve touched a single glass of alcohol since we parted ways…. By the way, what did you order? What’s in your cup? I don’t think I’ve seen that before.”
What?
Yujin’s sudden interest to whatever I ordered really threw me off, but then again she was always like this. I was just starting to take in what was going on with her when she grabbed the drink from my end of the table and brought it closer to her face. Yujin then eyed the contents through the small hole of the straw, even closing her other eye to get a better view at it.
“What flavour is this, Jae-in? I don’t think I’ve tried this out before. It looks like a cookie and vanilla mix.”
“Oh uhh… it’s apparently called a Snow Leopard. I got it because I love cookies and cream flavoured things. It’s good. Try it out.”
With that, Yujin nodded and immediately went off to sip from my straw; her eyes lighting up. She then took her drink and slid it on the table towards my side as if beckoning me to taste the very thing I ordered for her. I casually took the drink and took a sip from her straw and my taste buds were immediately filled with the unusual chocolate flavour. I did not expect less from a triple chocolate mix that Yujin dearly loves.
“Damn… that was an experience. I might try that out for myself some time,” she exclaimed as she returned my drink to my side of the table. “I might have drank a bit so it’s a bit lesser than… yeah. You get it.”
“Don’t worry. I expected nothing less, Ahn Yujin.”
She slapped my arm and in turn smiling towards my direction.
“Well, anyway I’ll head us back to the topic at hand before I got distracted. I heard a lot of deals from Kyungsoo, you know; some of which even surprised me so much.”
“I actually did not expect Kyungsoo to tell you something, but that’s not saying that I didn’t want you hearing about me. It’s not like I’m hiding it or anything. It’s just… I was expecting that you’d know soon but from either Kino or Shinwon, not Kyungsoo. I wonder how that went down…”
“I’ll have you know, it was Kyungsoo who told me because he felt so concerned towards you. He didn’t entirely tell me of everything, because in his head those still deserve to be told by you. All he told me was things have been rough for you lately, and asked me to check on you whenever I had the time. They said you’ve pretty much gone incognito from them, especially recently. I guess when you asked me out for this one, maybe it was a huge deciding factor for me to go as well.”
“So I guess he knew that I’d reach you at some point. He’s not wrong. Be it that I’m reaching you out because I want to catch up on a couple of different matters, there’s no denying that thing have been crazy rough lately, especially the couple last weeks. Let’s just say that I’m dealing with the aftermath of that, as you know it affected me now less than it did with… with someone named Jeon Soyeon.”
“Ah, so that’s her name, huh? Well then, we have all afternoon, Jae-in. Now I’m curious. Tell me the entire thing. Tell me how you and this Soyeon girl ended up, and why you decided to cut ties with her once you felt it was wrong.”
---
The one thing that Jae-in loved so much about Yujin was that she has always been a good listener.
She merely sat throughout the entire conversation, merely giving her best friend the occasional nods and shakes whenever there was an interesting detail with regards to the story, but of course included with that were the extreme reactions from Yujin’s rather expressive face.  Given how confident he is with her, Jae-in elected to not only include his insights among everything that happened, but also the details he would normally reserve for himself; that included everything, especially intimate moments. As expected, Yujin gave him a face of alarm. The ghost of that expression seemed to have continued until he reached the latter part of his story.
“Well, I guess you can see now why I ended what was going on between us,” Jae-in said with a clear conclusion. “It’s crazy, right? We haven’t gotten halfway through the semester yet and I already have this on the bag. It speaks too much about how bothered I am with the sudden development.”
“My god, Jae-in… I didn’t expect this to be this involved! You know what, I haven’t met this girl yet and I already do not like the sound of everything. It feels like there’s nothing linking you together aside from your sudden outbursts of hormones, and that’s even trying to call it by the simplest of ways, believe me. You two are just horny, especially during all this.”
“I… I guess so…”
“You know, the fact that it turned out the way it did, it somehow reminded me of your ex. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who felt that, right?”
“That’s… well, most of the reason why I chose to back off largely was because of Wonyoung. Things have been… I don’t even know how to put it out, actually. I just felt that it was wrong to continue because it was something that I never wanted in the first place. It sucks that it even had to go to that degree that it was already too difficult to let her go given the circumstances. At this point, I’m just happy that I pulled it off.”
“As you should,” Yujin replied earnestly. She then proceeded to place her now-empty drink over the table and cross her legs afterwards. “My god, I could not even imagine how much of a sump we’ll have to go through again if she ended up being like exactly like Wonyoung. I would not be surprised if she did. I mean, look at her; she’s pretty much a girl who could get any guy she would like. They tend to get really reactive and loud expressing their feelings but when they don’t get what they want, the results would automatically be a disaster for the guy… for you, Yoon Jae-in.”
“Ummm…”
“Damn, can you imagine how things turned out with you and Wonyoung from before? Do you still remember how she hated me so much just for the fact that you’re my best friend… it’s as if I could do something about that? Hello…? What am I supposed to do? I’m not even wedging myself between you two and she acts as if we’re having sex in the dark.”
Jae-in chuckled.
“I do remember that; of course. We almost never go out together even for a small lunch out because he’s always like a detective watching me all the time. It’s so uncomfortable. I can’t even nod or greet you when we bump into each other while you have Wonyoung walking beside you, Jae-in. One small eye-contact between us, I immediately get a glare from her, Oh my god; I think she wants me to stop being your best friend back then. She wants me to be invisible when you’re around, like what the fuck?”
Jae-in chuckled and Yujin smiled at his reaction.
“You know, Yujin, now that I’m openly talking about this, that’s pretty much how it turned out before. You know how Wonyoung and I always argued about you; that she’s threatened of our friendship given how our relationship developed from us initially being best friends as well. She always thought that at some point, I’ll give her up for you. I’m pretty sure that it did happen, you know; I chose you as my best friend instead of sulking on our doomed relationship anyway.”
“Jae-in, hearing all this from you makes me want to go out and eat lunch with you, but not a normal one. We should make sure that Wonyoung sees it as well, just so we can show her how our friendship thrived further the moment that she was out of the picture. I want to show her that a guy and a girl could be friends without falling for each other.”
“You… you talk as if we didn’t really try to make something else out of this,” Jae-in remarked calmly. “In a way, we’re not really a good example for that, all things considered.”
“Well, the keyword was we DID try to make something out of it. It just didn’t feel right. I never thought that I’d ever be awkward to you, and I don’t want that one week of attempted dating to happen again between us. We’re soul mates Jae-in, and maybe that means that we’re destined to be the best of friends since the very beginning.”
“If you put it out that way, it makes me feel so happy that we chose friendship instead of making something impossible out of this one. You always had my back, Yujin. I’ll always be grateful for that”
“We didn’t work out, Jae-in, because I know that I’m not really your type,” Yujin said with a tone of humour, covering her mouth with her hand in the process. “And that’s okay for me, you know. I have no problems with it.”
“Wait, wait, that’s interesting, since you brought it up, what do you think my type is, exactly? What does Ahn Yujin think of Yoon Jae-in’s ideal girl and that is in terms of a lot of factors. Let’s hear you enumerate everything.”
“Ahh, so we’re in that stage now, hmm?” Yujin said before shifting her place on the couch and then rubbing her palms together. “Now this is interesting. Are you asking this from me so that you can confirm the similarities with what I’m about to say?”
“Maybe… or perhaps I could get an idea because I felt like I haven’t been running standards for a long time. It doesn’t have to be so complex, and you can base it on the previous people I’ve taken a liking on.”
“Well, I can’t do everything because we might take all afternoon… how about three?”
“Fair. Let’s do that.”
“Good enough. Well for starters, girls that are way too feminine do not pique your interest in any way, Jae-in. I’m pretty sure you are aware of that. You don’t like the typical text-book reserved, campus-crush kind of deal. You don’t like girls who are very well known because they are using fame to be something else. I get that it’s not that bad, but you’re not just into it because it feels fake. Does that make any sense?”
“It’s not something I would expect to come from you but I think I can understand it.”
“Good. Next, you’re more into people with strong personalities, which conflicts the other interest I just mentioned. I don’t know, but there’s a thin line between people you like who are have a very strong presence but not being over-all too feminine and vulgar about at the same time. I can get understand it in my head but I can’t find the words for it. I’ve been you friend for so long and I think I can understand it without words. I mean, I’ve met some people who were so timid and shy on the face value and yet they’re much defined once you get to know them. It’s kind of like that.”
The fact that she knows so much about me, up to this degree is somehow amazing and scary at the same time. It makes me wonder if I’m that much obvious whenever I’m with her.
But then again, maybe I am. I’m just that comfortable when I’ve with Yujin that I don’t seem to mind what kind of stories I spill to her. This conversation was way more yielding than I thought.
“Now for the last one, this one feels more like an observation from my end but somehow attracted to mature girls. It does not necessarily mean that you’re into girls that are older than you, but often enough age is often associated with maturity so I guess things tend to curve that way when it’s all said and done. It correlates. I guess there’s that sense of security that you get when it comes to people like that. In a way, it perfectly concludes all of the points I’ve stated previously.”
“I don’t think that… that it’s entirely true for Wonyoung. I mean, our ages are not that far apart you know.”
“Honestly, Wonyoung or even the Soyeon girl does not fit any of the traits I have mentioned. That explains why it was not a surprise that you decided to cut it off. On Wonyoung, I could understand, because at least you two developed from friends, but for the Soyeon girl, I guess it was pretty self-explanatory.”
“I guess so… I suddenly became conscious of the traits you mentioned, you know. I can’t bring myself to not consider them the next time that I take a liking into someone…”
“And you should, so that you won’t just fall on someone who barely even fits your standards. At least by then you’d be able to sort things out for yourself. I get it, Jae-in; love is one huge trial and error, but how many errors are you planning to bust through that you’ll finally let yourself loose for the world, hmm?”
“I… I don’t know.”
“Jae-in, you’re a very soft, kind-hearted person and that’s about one thing that I really love about you. I’m pretty sure that I’m not the first one who said that, but on times like these it’s working against you. You need to learn when to say ‘no’ and keep you standards to yourself, because at the end of the day you still need to look after yourself. Can’t date ever girl in the world to find out if you’re compatible or not, right?”
“I’m trying to keep that in mind, Yujin… it’s just that with this Soyeon situation, I let it unfold to a painfully hard situation to get out of before I even began to make a move. It’s a mistake I don’t intend to do again.”
Jae-in sat there in silence, keeping his gaze peeled towards the empty drink he had in front of him. He may have stayed in that state for so long that Yujin grew concerned. There was a sudden, surprising sensation from his left side, only for it to be revealed to be from Yujin’s end. Somehow through the silence, she placed her hand over his as an act of affirmation and assurance. She then clasped it, making sure that Jae-in felt the presence of her then and there.”
“Don’t think of it badly, Jae-in. I’m not blaming you for everything that happened to you. In fact, I really admire your courage for being honest to the girl. No one should take away the emotions you battled while you’re at it, as well. Also… as much as I’m trying to force these sorts of ideas unto you, in the end we’re still human beings. Things could not be bound ideally, as they say.
“Finding a perfect person definitely involves a bound of luck as well as a good stroke of fate. You’ll never know when you’ll meet her, or if you’ve even met her already. The range of your destiny could be someone you’ve already spent a long time being with to someone you accidentally tripped over on the way home. It’s easier once you let your heart welcome it instead of your mind.”
I honestly don’t know if she’s aware of the mixed messages she’s sending about. However, there’s no denying that things like this are pretty hard to understand. In fact, a woman’s heart is hard to understand, as I heard someone wise once said.
“Sorry, I got carried away,” Yujin said finally, returning them both back to earth once again as she shook her head. “We should go, Jae-in; we’ve stayed so long here that we’re already hogging the best seat in the entire shop. Besides, I want to walk the park for a bit if you’re game. Shall we?”
And with one final nod, Jae-in agreed. The preparation to leave was as quick as the decision to do so with Yujin being the first one to head on off for them both. However, as Yoon Jae-in and Ahn Yujin walk towards the wide doors of the welcoming shop, the young man was dazed with the apparition of their final conversation; clearly curious as to what kind of destiny the future holds for a guy like him.
He has a feeling that fate would confirm his destiny very soon.

Thank You, For Being You
Isaac Lahey x Fem!Reader Series
Shape Shifted
Omega Part 1 | Omega Part 2 | Ice Pick | Abomination | Venomous | Frenemy | Restraint | Raving | Party Guessed | Fury
Prompt: Lydia has been found but just when things were starting to look up, of course, new information appears to suggest other wise.
a/n: Hey guys! This is the next chapter and i think i found a name for this series, let me know what you think! Also how do you guys feel about this new chapter set up? If you guys like it, I’ll probably go back to the other two chapters and change it to this as well!
*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧
“So wait, what happened?” Scott was trying to explain to you what exactly happened after he ran off to find Lydia the night before. “I’ve already explained to you twice now,” Scott sighed packing his bag for school. You were leaning against his bedroom door, “Yes, I know, I know. I’m just- I’m just trying to process this whole thing.” You two made your way through the hallway, you weren’t concerned about Melissa hearing you two since she was already on her shift for the day.
“Okay, let me get this straight,” You began, “Allison’s grandfather, took a sword and sliced through a lone wolf, an omega, then proceeded to make some speech about killing all werewolves even though they’re supposed to go by a code?”
“Yes.”
“AND THEN to top everything off, Derek was with you?”
Scott sighed once more, “Yeah.” Opening the front door, you stopped on the porch, “What was Derek doing there?” His eyebrows scrunched together and he raised his hands, “How am I supposed to know?”
You rocked your head to the side, “Okay, okay, fair enough. I’m done, I promise I won’t bring it up anymore.” Just as the topic was dropped, Stiles pulled in front of the house. ‘What a weekend we had,’ you thought getting into the back seat. The whole ride consisted of Scott trying to convince Stiles that he would be okay during the full moon. You zoned out for most of the argument, up until you three made it to the boy’s locker room and it was still the current topic.
“Okay, we get it, you think you’ll be able to make it through the full moon. Can we please just drop it?” You grumbled since the whole debate was taking place with you in the middle, literally. “I’m serious,” Scott began which earned a huff from you and shake of Stiles’ head, “It’s not like the last full moon. I don’t feel the same.”
“Oh, does that include the urge to maim and kill people like us,” rebutted Stiles.
“I swear I don’t have the urge to maim and kill you.”
You scoffed, “Oh yeah, that’s super reassuring, thanks buddy.” Stiles pointed to you in agreement, “You know, you say that now but then the full moon goes up and the claws and fangs come out and there’s a lot of howling and screaming and running everywhere, okay?” The anxious boy didn’t even give himself time to take a full breath before his ramble continued, “And it’s very stressful on us and so yes, we’re still locking you up.”
Scott looked at you for support but only got a shrug from you, “Don’t look at me, I’m with him.”
“Okay, fine. But I do think I’m in more control now.” Scott conceited, “Especially since things are good with Allison.”
You and Stiles shared an unimpressed look, “Okay, we’re aware of how good things are with Allison.”
“They’re really good.”
“I- thank you, I know,” Stiles commented
“I mean, like, really good.”
“Alright I get it!” Stiles cut him off, “Please shut the hell up before I have the urge to maim and kill myself.”
“Why did my two best friends have to be boys,” you whined in complaint as Stiles wrapped his arm around you with a small laugh. Scott nudged your side before asking, “All right, did you get something better than handcuffs this time?”
“Yeah, much better,” Stiles took his arm off your shoulder to set his bag down and opened his locker but nothing could have prepared you for what came crashing out. Chains. Chains immediately came slithering out, getting the attention of not only the rest of the team but Coach as well.
“Kinky,” you muttered before Coach reached you. Both boys lightly smacked your shoulder as they stood silently and awkwardly, staring at the chains in panic while getting a judgmental look from Coach. “Part of me wants to ask, the other part says knowing will be more disturbing than anything I could ever imagine, so I’m gonna walk away. Y/N meet me on the field in a few minutes.” You chuckled, “yes sir, I’ll be right there.”
“That’s good. That’s a wise choice, Coach,” called Stiles.
Both boys lent down to start collecting the chains, Stiles pulling you down as well. Not a moment later, Scott’s head raised and his eyes glowed catching your attention. “What- what is it,” you placed your hand on his shoulder, your concern catching the sarcastic boy’s attention as well. Scott didn’t answer you right away, instead his head moved in every direction looking at everyone in the locker room.
“You okay?” questioned Stiles, “Scott.”
His focus was finally broken, “There’s another. In here, right now.” Your eyebrows furrowed, “Another what,” Stiles and you asked. “Another werewolf.” That sure perked your attention, your eyes quickly scanned the room with no success of finding what you were looking for. You reached for your bag and stood up, “We’ll worry about that when we’re on the field, I’ll meet you guys out there.” Both of them nodded and continued to pick up the chains as you made your way outside.
You were discussing line up for the next game with Coach when the team, including Scott and Stiles, came jogging out. “So what if we set Jackson up here for the first half so-.”
“Hey Coach! Scott wants to be in goal today!” Stiles jogged up next to you, you looked at the boy in confusion. Scott hated playing goal, since when would he ever volunteer to be in goal? Coach said nothing but waved it off and nodded his head as he took your clipboard and walked off to review your placement suggestions. You turned to Stiles when you knew Coach was out of hearing range, “What are you two up to?”
“Scott needs to be close to someone to catch their scent, so if he switches with Danny-.”
“It’ll allow him to be one on one.” You nodded and Stiles gave you that goofy proud smile he has. You reached over the bleachers and gave him the goalie gear, “I’ll let Danny know.” Stiles gave you a thumbs up, “Great, awesome, you’re the best,” he gave you a surprise kiss on the cheek before dashing off with the gear. You laughed in disbelief before turning to find Danny in the crowd, instead you ended up making eye contact with the tall boy that never failed to make you smile. Raising your hand up, you gave him a wave and he returned the favor with what looked to be a nervous grin. Before you could question it to yourself, the whistle blew signaling practice was starting.
“Let’s go! Line it up! Faster!”
Everyone took their positions and Coach blew the whistle one more time, throwing the ball in the air. What occurred next, physically hurt you to have to see. Scott sprinted past defense and slammed the runner down. You felt your whole body wince as you watch him visibly sniff the kid before pulling him up. Unsurprisingly, Coach said something about the situation. Of course it did nothing to stop the supernatural boy, he slammed the next kid down, and the next. Each time Coach commented on it, but it never stopped Scott.
Coach grabbed Stiles’ helmet and gestured for you to come over, “Stilinski, Y/N, what the hell is wrong with your friend?”
“He’s failing two classes,” you started.
“He’s a little socially awkward,” Stiles listed, “and if you look close enough-.”
“His jaw line is kind of uneven,” you both finished. Coach glanced at you before pushing the boy away and turning back to the field, “That’s interesting,” he mumbled, walking away. Danny was the next one on the chopping block and you turned your head away because this time around it was just a little too rough for you to bare. Stiles placed his hand on your back to give you some slight comfort, “That’s gonna hurt in the morning.” You nodded in agreement.
“McCall! You come out of that goal one more time and you’ll be doing suicide runs till you die! It’ll be the first ever suicide run that actually ends in a suicide. Got it?”
“Yes, Coach.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose, “This is so embarrassing.” Stiles hummed in agreement.
“Uh, Coach, my shoulders hurting. I’m gonna- I’m gonna sit this one out,” Jackson said making his way to the bench. When he walked away you had finally realized who was in front of you and Stiles. Isaac. He was breathing really hard but not out of exhaustion, it almost sounded animalistic. Stiles tried to see in front of him before looking at you in concern. The whistle blew once more and Isaac began running.
“I don’t like the look of this,” you whispered to Stiles.
“Me neither.”
You couldn’t believe it, Scott dashed once more and when the two collided they both went so far in the air before both landed on their hands and knees. When they landed you felt like something in you was different, you realized your were correct when Stiles broke you out of your trance. “Hey, look down hurry,” he pushed your head down before you could even respond.
“What the hell, Stiles!”
“Y/N, stop. Your eyes.”
“My eyes? What about my eyes?”
“Y/N. Your eyes are glowing purple.”
~
“His father’s dead.”
The three of you stood watching Stiles’ dad, two other policemen, Coach and Isaac talk as Scott listened in, “They think he was murdered.” You had barely come to terms that Isaac was a werewolf and now you have to process the fact that his dad was murdered? You guys can seriously never catch a break.
Stiles leaned in closer to you two, “Are they saying he’s a suspect?”
“I’m not sure, why?”
“Because they can lock him in a holding cell for 24 hours,” you answered.
“Like, over night?” Stiles nodded, “During the full moon.” Scott looked at you two, “How good are these holding cells at holding people?” You sighed and closed your eyes, you couldn’t bare the stress anymore.
“People, good. Werewolves, probably not that good.” Stiles concluded while looking at you, his hand was back to its position on your back but this time it was to get your attention. You glanced up to meet his eyes and you saw exactly what he was thinking, what he was asking. ‘Are you gonna tell Scott about what happened?’ You shook your head lightly and gripped his arm, slightly squeezing so he would understand to let it go. He sighed before looking back at Scott.
“Guys, remember when I said I don’t have the urge to maim and kill?”
“Yeah,” you both replied.
“He does.”
The group of policemen, Sheriff and Isaac began to walk away, but not without Isaac turning his head back to look at you three. While you know he was just looking at you guys in general, you couldn’t help but feel like his gaze was for you. Rubbing your hand down your face, you gave Isaac one last look before grabbing Scott and Stiles’ hands, “Come on, we better go if we want to make it to Harris' in time. You guys can’t afford to be late, he hates your guts.” They both nodded before letting you lead them back towards to school. For the first time since maybe you three were born, you guys walked together to class silent. There’s was not a sound created between you three until you made it to chemistry, the only class where you sat in front of them rather than between them or next to at least one of them.
“Why would Derek choose Isaac?” You heard Scott ask.
“Peter told me that if the bite doesn’t turn you it could kill you.” You were grateful that your desk partner was Isaac right now, because if it wasn’t, you were positive who ever would’ve been placed next to you would hear everything, instead the seat is currently empty. “And maybe teenagers have a better chance of surviving.”
“Does being a teenager mean your dad can’t hold him?”
“Well, not unless they have solid evidence or a witness. Wait.” You could hear Stiles turn in his chair, “Danny, where’s Jackson?”
“Principal’s office, talking to your dad.”
“What? Why?”
“Maybe because he lives across the street from Isaac.” You felt yourself freeze. God damn it. Jackson is the last person you would want to be talking to Sheriff right now. You quickly put your pencil down and raised your hand, “Um, Mr. Harris, do you mind if I run to my locker quickly? I forgot my notes in there after practice.”
“Hurry.”
You heard the chairs of your best friends squeak as they turned towards you quickly, “Y/N what are you doing?” Scott whisper yelled but you ignored them, you had to get to the office, you couldn’t let that weasel make it seem like Isaac could have done this, especially when there’s the issue of the full moon tonight as well.
“Thank you, sir, sorry about that,” you said rushing out the door quickly and making your way to the office as fast as possible. Just before you made it too far you heard Mr. Harris, “Who in the hell did that?” You laughed and shook your head, you could always count on those bone heads to never let you do anything alone. You made it to the office and could see Jackson already talking to Stiles’ dad, you huffed and sat down in the chair outside, your leg bouncing as soon as you hit the cushion of the chair. Not even a minute later, the boys joined you, sitting on either side of you like usual.
“You guys are such dumbasses, you know that? I could’ve handled this.”
“Absolutely not,” they synced.
You kept quiet deciding it was better to just listen to the conversation going on inside the room rather than argue. “Wait, so are you telling me that you knew Isaac’s father was hitting him?”
“Hitting him? He was kicking the crap out of him.”
“Did you ever say anything to anyone? A teacher, parents, anyone?”
“Nope, it’s not my problem.”
You felt every ounce of rage boil up inside you. Jackson knew? Jackson fucking knew everything and never told ANYONE. You closed your eyes and clenched your fists so hard you swear you could draw blood at any moment.
“Y/N? Hey Y/N, calm down. Scott.” You felt what you assumed to be Stiles’ hands then felt another pair, which had to be Scott’s on your shoulders.
“Hey, I know you’re angry but you have to find a way to calm down, you’re making the papers on the board almost fly off,” Scott tried to rationalize. You tried to take deep breaths but nothing was working, you finally felt your hands being grabbed and intertwined with theirs. You took a moment to focus on them and it started to work, squeezing their hands you dropped your head, a few silent tears escaping your closed eyes.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered.
“You don’t have to be sorry,” Scott reassured.
The office door opened, and you three parted, you took the opportunity to wipe your tears away as fast as you could. Scott looked in another direction and Stiles grabbed a magazine to try (and unsuccessfully) hide from his dad. When you were sure that all moisture was wiped away you met Sheriff’s eyes.
“Hi, Scott, Y/N.” You both waved before he cocked an eyebrow at his son and started to walk away. You touched both of their shoulders, “I’ll meet you guys later.”
They both looked at you, “What are you gonna do?”
“What I probably should’ve done a while ago,” you sighed earning you confused nods before you walked away.
“Sheriff.”
He turned around surprised to see you walking towards him, he waved to his deputy to let him know to keep walking before he gave you his full attention. “I need to talk to you.”
“I’m sorry kiddo but it might have to wait.”
“It’s about Isaac.” That got his attention, he kept your gaze for a moment before directing you to the side, “Okay what’s going on?” You opened your mouth to say something but no sound came out, you couldn’t bring yourself to say it. You took a deep breath before speaking once more.
“I knew.”
He didn’t say anything, almost as if he couldn’t believe what he just heard. “Well, to be more accurate, I was pretty sure. Pretty sure that Isaac’s dad was hurting him.”
“Well, that’s a lot to process. Did you ever say something, why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t, Isaac wouldn’t let me. He kept denying it, saying ‘it was an accident’ or ‘I fell off my bike’ stuff like that. And I never had any solid proof so I didn’t say anything because if I couldn’t prove anything I would be saying, I didn’t want to chance Isaac getting seriously injured.”
You finally let yourself meet his eyes when you finished talking, he took a breath before nodded and placing a hand on your upper arm, “I understand but why are you telling me this now?”
“Because I may not know him like I do Scott and Stiles but I know he wouldn’t do something like this. I know you have to follow the path you're given but you have to look at other options, please, Sheriff. He would never do this.”
Sheriff gave you a slight smile, “Okay kiddo, I believe you, I still have to do my job but just know I believe you.” You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding, “Thank you, I’ve gotta get back to class.”
“Okay I’ll see you later.”
“Yeah, bye.”
You parted ways, making your way back to the office, to see the boys come out. Scott grabbed your arm and began rushing you towards the doors, “Come on.” You try to look back at Stiles to question what was going on but Scott had pulled you down the stairs and around the corner before you even had the chance.
“What the hell is going on?”
“I’ll tell you later but for right now just forget about it and come on!”
You matched his pace as best as you could, reaching the heavy blue doors and when you pushed them open you saw a cop car. Inside was Isaac, you guys must have caught his attention because he turned back when you had slammed the doors open. Scott went forward more while you just stood and looked at Isaac, you didn’t know what to do. You couldn’t help him from here anyways since the car had already taken off and left the parking lot. You grunted out of frustration, “Great, what are we gonna do now?”
Scott never gave you an answer because Derek pulled up to the curb, “Get in.”
You scoffed, “Are you serious?”
“You did that, that’s your fault,” Scott finished for you.
“I know that. Now get in the car and help me.”
“Why should we,” you challenged, “You know, I’m starting to get real sick and tired of your demanding ass tone.”
Scott put his arm in front of you, stopping your advancing figure before you could make it to the car. “I’ve got a better idea. I’m gonna call a lawyer because a lawyer might actually have a chance at getting him out before the moon goes up.”
“Not when they do a real search of the house.”
“What do you mean?” Scott had now made it to the window of the car. “Whatever Jackson said to the cops, what’s in the house is worse. A lot worse,” Derek popped his passenger door open, Scott looked at you and you huffed gesturing towards the door, you got in.
~
“If Isaac didn’t kill his father, then who did?”
“I don’t know yet,” Derek replied.
“Then how do you know he’s telling the truth?”
“Because I trust my senses. And it’s a combination of them, not just your sense of smell.” You smiled ever so slightly at the sentence.
“You saw the lacrosse thing today,” Scott stated embarrassed.
“Yeah.”
“Did it look that bad?”
“Yeah,” you spoke up, catching their attention.
You continued your way through the house, until Derek had directed you two to the basement, “You wanna learn,” he pointed down the stairs, “then start now.”
Scott made his way down the stairs and you just stared, you were scared if you were being honest. Scared to find something that would tell you that Isaac really did kill his father. Because if that was true, there wasn’t anyway you could help him even with the pleading you had done to Sheriff. Derek gave you a pointed look, “You need to come down here as well,” you raised your eyebrows, “Why?” you questioned him.
“He wouldn’t want you to see what’s down here but I think it’s important that you do.”
You nodded slightly at his statement, if Derek thought that then it had to be a big deal, the only person he really trusted was Scott and now probably Isaac. It only took you a moment to decide as you started your way down the stairs as well with even more caution than Scott had possessed. “What am I looking for?” Scott had interrupted your train of thought, “Follow your senses,” answered Derek. You guys made it down the stairs, you looked around until you came face to face with a mirror propped up on the ground. You couldn’t stop staring at your eyes, you knew you needed to tell Scott as soon as possible but it had to wait. Until Isaac was safe, until you could provide some answers to keep Scott from worrying about you. Derek had just finished talking to Scott, when he had stayed behind and just in front of you.
“Derek.”
He turned, giving you the go ahead to talk. You made sure that Scott was occupied with looking around before going on, “I know trust between us is below zero but can I ask you something?” The dark haired man hesitated before nodding slightly, “On the field today, when Scott was, well you know...my eyes.. Stiles said they glowed purple.” The man gave you a confused look before his eyes relaxed slightly, “Are you asking if I know what you are?” You shrugged, “I guess, I don’t know, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that, I’ve made my locker slam shut on its own and almost made papers go flying across the room.”
He thought for a moment, looking at you up and down almost as if he was doing some kind of analysis of you in his brain, “I’m sorry but I don’t know what you are.” You sighed and shrugged once more, “It was a long shot I guess.” Derek took another moment to pondered and turned his head to you once more, “Did those things happen when your emotions were at a peak?” You slowly nodded, a little bit embarrassed to admit that the things occurring were due to you not keeping your emotions in check.
“Well while I can’t tell you what you are, it sounds like whatever you possess is carried out mostly by emotions so using them to your advantage is going to be what helps you keep it under control.”
You took some time to process what he said, it seemed so simple and yet you had a feeling that it was gonna be far from that. Instead of pushing your luck you just nodded along to show that you understood, “Thanks.”
“One more thing, Derek.”
“What is it?”
“Is Isaac gonna be okay?”
“I’m going to get him out of there, however, even if he gets out of this situation, he’s gonna forever have to deal with what he went through in this room,” Derek pointed to across the room. You turned to see an ice box with chains next to it, you looked back at Derek and he nodded for you to go over to it. You met Scott over there, both of you grazing your hands over it, a light flashed in your eyes.
“Open it.”
Scott and you turned to each other, nodding you both grabbed the lid and opened it. You gasped when you saw it, scratches, scratches all through out the sides of the freezer. “He was locked in here,” you said, your hand covering your mouth. You backed away from the box shaking your head, “I need some fresh air.” Scott didn’t get a chance to say anything as you sprinted up the stairs, placing your back against the wall you heaved to catch your breath. Tears slipped down your face, you couldn’t believe the sweet boy you knew was going through something so horrific. You had to get him out of there. You took your phone out of your pocket and made your way to your contacts, it was pointless though because the person you were planning to call had beaten you to it.
“Hey, I was just about to call you.”
“Yeah, I’m gonna need your help, Allison said that- hey are you okay, have you been crying?”
You sniffled slightly before clearing your throat, “It’s fine, doesn’t matter, what about Allison?”
“She said that one of her dad’s guys went out, Y/N, he had wolfsbane with him.”
“They’re gonna kill him.”
“Yeah, I’m on my way to come pick you up, just hang tight.” You nodded even though you knew he couldn’t see it, “Yeah, okay, see you soon,” with that he hung up. After you had told Scott and Derek what was going on, Stiles had arrived to pick you up. Scott decided to stay since it wouldn’t be safe with the full moon out tonight. Stiles phone rang while he was speeding down the road as fast as he could, you took it from his cup holder and answered it, putting it on speaker, “Hey, did you slow him down?”
“You could say that.”
“Alright well, we’re heading to the station right now.”
“Where’s Scott?”
“Isaac’s,” you answered, “you should probably get over there as well.”
“Does he have a plan?”
Stiles side glanced you, “Yeah, but not a very good one. And unfortunately we don’t have time to come up with anything better.”
“Hence the ‘you should get over there too’,” you tried to joke. You ended the call as both of you looked through his dash board window at the moon. You were running out of time. “He’s gonna be okay,” Stiles tried to convince you.
“I really hope so.”
You finally made it to the station, when you felt the nerves getting to you, “Hey.” You looked at Stiles, he placed his hand on your head, “We’re gonna save him.”
“Let’s just go before I have a panic attack,” your attempt to be funny was interrupted by Derek showing up at the window. Stiles rolled down the window to explain the plan, “Okay, now the keys to every cell are in a password protected lockbox in my father’s office.”
“The problem is getting past the front desk,” you continued.
“I’ll distract her,” Derek concluded
You raised your eyebrows in disbelief as Stiles kept him from walking away, “Woah, woah, woah, you- you’re not going in there.” Derek said nothing but glanced at the hand currently on his shoulder, “I’m taking my hand off,” Stiles released his grip.
“I was exonerated.”
You scoffed, “I was exonerated,” you mocked the werewolf, “Like that matters at all you dumbass.”
“You’re still a person of interest,” the boy next to you explained.
“An innocent person.”
You both let out a sarcastic laugh, “You?” You synced, “Yeah, right!” He continued to stare at you both before Stiles sighed, “Okay, fine. What’s your plan?”
“To distract her,” Derek dragged.
“Uh-huh,” you mocked once more.
“How,” Stiles expressed, “by punching her in the face?”
“By talking to her.”
“Okay, alright, give me a sample. What are you gonna open with?”
Silence.
“Dead silence,” the boy concluded, “that should work beautifully, got any other ideas?”
“I’m thinking about punching you in the face.”
You groaned, “Oh my god, can we just go, please,” the attention was now on you, “You both can argue later.”
There was a silent agreement before Derek made his way inside, allowing you and Stiles to both slip past the lady and into the Sheriff’s office. While you acted as look out, he punched in the code to get the key, “It’s gone.” Your head snapped towards him, “It’s gone? What do you mean it’s gone,” his hands slapped to his side, “I mean the key is not in the box, the guy must have beaten us to it.”
“Well, then let’s go, there may still be time.” Both of you rushed down the hallway, bumping into what appeared to be an officer, only for you to both realize there was blood. “Ah, sh-,” the man grabbed Stiles before you both could get away, “Hey! Let him go, you bastard!” You tried to pry the guy’s hand that was holding the syringe away from Stiles’ neck but it was no use you didn’t have the strength to overpower him. You could at least keep him from getting any closer though. Stiles had pulled the fire alarm and you made it to the holding cells, still struggling against the man when you all realized that one of the doors had been ripped off, Isaac’s door.
The guy had been pried off of you two as you both dropped to the floor. It was Isaac, fully transformed, you both scrambled behind the desk as he fought off the man. He left him unconscious and his attention was now on you, he began his advance but was very quickly interrupted by Derek’s roar. You shook off the shock, got back on your feet and rushed over to the now cowering Isaac.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay you’re safe.” He glanced at you, “You came,” you nodded with a soft smile, “Yeah, yeah I did.” His head landed on your shoulder lightly, clearly exhausted you let him be, raking your hand through his hair lightly.
“How did you do that,” questioned Stiles.
“I’m the alpha.”

Can I have a Shihouin chika x shy reader? The reader is very reserved and does not dare to go to others. She talks to her captain the first time by finding him naked in the public baths where she made a mistake for women. 💀Thank you in advance.
Hi!
This request have some kamonohashi ron feelings to it XD
Let me know what you think!
Tsuki's note 1 : not proof read, i am not having much time to check spelling, sorry!
Tsuki's note 2: i usually rather go with gender neutral, but... Attention:
Female! Reader
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have been a shinigami for a while now.
For some odd reason, you were asked to join the 2nd division - it's not like you are stealthy or anything. You were just a regular shinigami.
But due to your battle abilities, you were highly ranked - you rarely lost fights, when you did, you made sure to cause havoc.
Most would assume and think you are a very outgoing person because of your captain - Shihoin Chika.
But they couldn't be more wrong, oh no.
You are very shy. To point of not replying and blushing a lot when people talk to you.
Even with Chika, you barely exchanged words, unless, you had to give a report or something.
At least that was until one unfortunate day.
On your day off you decided to take a walk in the town nearby and take a nice bath on their onsen.
You got distracted by a few events happening in the town so you didn't notice how time flew by.
You went to the onsen pretty late.
For one side you were relieved that the possibility of seeing someone there was low, because it was late. But on the other hand, you would loose some sleep time. But you can't always win, right?
You double checked the sign to be sure you were walking into the female baths.
Usually you never went there naked or with just a towel, you usually had some kind of bathrob on while checking for people in the baths.
As you did so you saw someone there, you couldn't help but squeak.
And you did not go unheard.
The head turned around to reveal, your captain, seated in the water just staring at you, as you stared at him.
You could feel your face flush right away and before you could stutter/scream an apologize, you saw him smirk.
Obviously he teased you: " Oh, is the poor y/n so tired they have misread the sign?"
Well, you did not answer that. You rushed out and turned your back to read the sign. It read women. You entered the right bath.
You stood there a bit confused and dying inside. What were you supposed to do now?
While in your daze you heard a laughter, that sounded very far away.
You turned around to investigate, but before you could take one step forward, you heard a very familiar voice, calling for you.
You stopped right away feeling your face flush again.
More teasing came out of Chika, asking why you would be so shy - he didn't mind spectators.
You stuttered out that the sign was for women. That he was the one on the wrong bath.
You could hear the !! he made when the captain saw that you were right.
The small laughter resumed on the corner again.
Like a flash the captain passed by you only to bring two boys.
Both being held by the collar, like puppies.
Chika proceeded to scold them for doing that - although he was teasing you, apparently he was ok at being pranked at.
The boys looked horrified. Completely scared of him. You felt a tad bit of pity for the boys, but just a little.
When Chika let them go , they ran away so fast, they tripped on each other.
Your captain sighed complaining about kids.
You turned on your heels, said good bye to your captain and walked away. It was impossible to look at him now, just no.
He tried calling you out, as he noticed you wouldn't come back, he screamed an apology.
The next few days were painfully awkward for you.
Chika, on the other hand seemed just fine.
You managed to go up a few ranks soon, which meant you were around the captain more.
It did not help you at all with the extra awkwardness.
Things got even more awkward when someone asked about you, why you were promoted so quickly.
He even joked at some point: " yeah, me and y/n have grown a bit closer lately" with a wink at you.
You wanted to die, then and there. No idea if he actually meant it or not.
Probably not, right? I mean you had to have gotten this spot out of effort... right?

Ineffable (Dream of the Endless x f!Reader) - Chapter 5: Distraction
Also with Corinthian x f!Reader
Masterlist - Playlist
The Reader finds out more about Amelia, and her connection with Morpheus. Despite his reluctance, Morpheus opens up to the Reader, and they share a moment.
Tumblr media
She was my lover.
I had stilled in my seat.
But of course, I had knowledge of Morpheus' past lovers. As an anthropomorphic being who has been around since the beginning of time, it would only make sense for him to have had a number of lovers. I can imagine being an Endless can get quite lonely, albeit connection may not be as big of a priority as it is for mere human mortals.
One afternoon, Lucienne and I had been conducting research in her library, when the subject of Calliope came up. I had to improve my knowledge of Greek deities, due to a case with the Greek goddess Atë.
An unsuspecting farmer had been tricked into becoming her lover, and once the spell had been broken, he left her for a baker's daughter in his village. His true love. The ruinous Atë then proceeded to exact her revenge by plaguing the poor farmer's slumbers, resulting in his development of chronic illnesses.
Morpheus had tasked Lucienne, Gault and myself to handle this one matter, hence our extensive library sessions for that month.
"The nine muses, daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne, were goddesses of arts and sciences. The youngest of which being Calliope..." I had read aloud, when I was interrupted by Lucienne's soft sigh.
"Calliope..." She breathed, with a caring smile.
"Have you come across her before?" I inquired. I was and still am fascinated by how Morpheus and his creations had interacted with these beings, such as gods and goddesses, angels and demons, sorcerers and witches, among many others. Notwithstanding the fact that I was still reeling from my discovery of the existence of Morpheus and the other Endless. This was the stuff of stories, dreams, fantasies. None of this was a part of any regular, normal life.
But of course, I suppose I threw all normalcy out the window the moment I could intercept thoughts and move things with my mind. My ability to manipulate dreams only compounded things further.
Lucienne had told me of Morpheus and Calliope, and of their great love, and of their great tragedy. Once I discovered that Morpheus had just recently rescued her from a prolonged, cruel period of captivity, I could not help but feel for this beautiful and gentle goddess. In essence, a woman who will mourn the loss of her beloved son for eternity, who had lost the love of her life due to tragic circumstance.
Even then, that selfish nagging part of me had pulled at my vanity and my insecurities. I had asked myself how I could ever be worthy of catching the eye of the Lord of Dreams. Me, a dysfunctional yet relatively ordinary human, who was not a goddess nor a warrior queen.
I was just me.
Notwithstanding my unexplained powers, I was still very much flawed. I get anxious, and envious, and unlike someone like Calliope, I am someone who would be more vindictive. I would not just let someone like Richard Madoc run free.
I am not as gracious. I am not eternal.
But like her, I am drawn to Morpheus in ways that I can't deny.
Unlike her, I haven't had the fulfilling pleasure of having to call Morpheus my husband.
Husband. Him. I cannot deny that the notion seems so farfetched to me. He doesn't seem like the type to commit to one individual, not because of his lack of devotion, but more so due to his autonomy. His impartial approach.
It was hard to see him favouring just one being over all else.
Which is why I was sceptical to the possibility that he was so worried over me. That he might be jealous over my closeness with Corinthian.
Again, me.
After knowing about Calliope, I had subtly discovered more about Morpheus' other lovers, including Nada, Alianora, Thessaly, and Killalla. Although, I would wager that he has had even more lovers than these. Truthfully, it had frightened me how twisted some of these relationships became. How needlessly callous Morpheus can be. How he has been able to discard these lovers, each of whom I can imagine he once pledged undying devotion to. Which now brings us to Amelia.
I hadn't heard about Amelia. Not that I am entitled to this information, the kind of which is certainly not given freely to me, apart from the instances wherein I would insert it into my research inquiries with Lucienne.
So, she may be someone whom Morpheus keeps close to his chest. The reasons for which I have yet to discover. And I have a feeling that she is also someone who had been blighted by her failed relationship with Morpheus.
All this being said, Amelia had still once been the central person to Morpheus' existence.
And I can't deny that it tugs at my heart, because I don't want to think of him with anyone else. No matter how benevolent, or amazing, or deserving they may be.
I want it to be just me.
But who am I kidding?
"Your... lover." I enunciate the words reluctantly.
"Yes. She was. Clearly our time together had ended some decades ago, but now I fear I have to see her again. We didn't really separate on good terms, and there is a reason why I have to venture out to her, so this encounter will prove to be quite a confrontation." He looks down, and out of the window again. He seems determined to look anywhere but at me.
"There must be a reason why you have to see her now. What is it?"
His brows are furrowed, and he looks at me now. There is something he is holding back, and I am determined to find out.
"You can tell me," I press further. "I would have to know eventually, no? If I would have to dedicate my precious time to solving all this with you."
"Yes, you're right. But maybe now's not the time. Let me take you home."
How do I deal with this guy? He had just sent Cor away so we could discuss this mission in private, and now, he seems barely willing to clue me in past the main objective.
I relent. Some time later, when we reach the door to my apartment, I can barely hold myself up, the effects of the drug still in my body.
Morpheus hovers over me, probably prepared to prop me up if necessary, and I don't find the strength to wave him away. I'm also not sure I want to.
I open the door to my flat. "Welcome to my humble living arrangement." I say, moving out of the way so he can enter.
He walks in as if discovering a museum, his gaze lingering in certain parts, his steps slow and calculated.
"Try not to get lost." I attempt some humour, and his head snaps back to me, a smile growing on his lips. He closes the door behind him, and I take my shoes off, grateful for the little comfort it brings.
"It feels as if this morning was ages ago. What a day that was." I sit on my bed, stretching my legs out in front of me.
"Truly. I'll make sure the Dreaming will offer some respite for you later.
"Oh, uhm..." I wasn't sure if I should offer him a drink or a seat, or anything really. But I wasn't bothered by him being my space. He seemed like he belonged here. As if the walls recognized him to be familiar, as if he had already left his various black coats and trousers in my wardrobe.
I imagine him waking up in my bed, getting up and putting the kettle on. But perhaps that vision is too outlandish. First of all, Morpheus does not need sleep. Second, and more importantly, I cannot envision him laying down on my bed.
Not right now, not where we stand at least.
Cor would have strolled right in here, dominating the space, laying down on my bed with arms outstretched behind him. Completely at ease. And I would have looked on fondly, sipped my coffee, chatting with him from my place in front of my laptop.
But Morpheus is different.
He feels equally at home, but exudes a certain aura that elevates his surroundings. If he does choose to lay down on my bed, I'm almost certain my bed will cave in at his presence. He looks as if he should be worshipped. These four, thin walls would never be enough to enclose him.
He turns to me, as if sensing my thoughts. "Don't humans usually offer a guest something to drink? A bite to eat?" He raises a perfect eyebrow, and tilts his head, judging me in my own flat.
"But you... uhm... would you like something to drink?" I stammer, slightly embarrassed now. I was too lost in my musings, that I looked over a simple courtesy.
"I'm only messing around." He smiles, looking down like he's bashful. Morpheus doesn't usually try his hand at humour, and I wasn't sure if that was possible. At least, he's never tried it around me.
And that smile. I once thought that whoever Morpheus chooses to smile at must be a special sort of individual, as it happens so very rarely, and now he's directing one at me. After cracking a joke.
What a strange day indeed.
"Oh." I smile in return. "Lord Morpheus is schooling me about human conventions? Well, well, feel free to sit anywhere you'd like."
Still gently smiling, he walks over to my bed, and sits down next to me.
After a moment, I bring myself to look at him and ask, "Who is Amelia?"
He doesn't seem surprised by the question. He takes a deep breath, and settles into his story. "We first met in the year of 1701. She's what most humans of that time considered to be a witch. Although, in my opinion, that term is a bit reductive for someone like her. She's... more than that. She was a strong-willed, perseverant woman who had to deal with plenty of injustices in that age." He looks into the distance, as if the memory of her lies fresh in his mind.
A witch, huh. Again, reiterating my belief of Morpheus not really being in the habit of taking ordinary lovers.
He continues, "She is descended from one of the original witches, hence, her lifespan is significantly longer than even a normal witch, and which is why she still lives today. We met when she had tried to cast a spell on her friend, in order to shield her from constant nightmares. I thought that was endearing, to say the least. Needless to say, I sensed such a spell being cast and affecting some of the Nightmares in my realm, so I sought her out. I was prepared to be stern and exacting. I wanted to let her know that she must not meddle with my realm for any reason. But..."
A lengthy pause follows. He seemed as if he was choosing the right words.
"But she won me over. After quite some time. And... we loved each other."
"Loved." I echoed his sentiment, and I wish I said something of more substance, but I couldn't find the right words.
Morpheus is not mine. I should not be feeling so wretched upon hearing of his love story with another person, but I am.
I can't help it.
"Yes." He confirms. "I will always have a deep admiration for her, but I am not in love with her anymore. We had drifted apart for a while. I ultimately decided to leave her be, when she admitted that she had fallen for the same friend that she once tried to help."
"Oh. I'm sorry." I internally chastise myself for sounding robotic, simply saying the proper thing on cue. But I can't deny that their drifting apart made me pleased, at least for my sake, but I don't wish Morpheus any heartache.
"I'm not." He turns to look at me. "There's a reason why things unfolded that way. It was better for the both of us. And given the chance, she's not the one I want to be with anymore. I'm sure she'd say the same about me."
"No way, you? The Lord of Dreams? You're quite a catch." I punch his shoulder playfully, my nervousness directing my actions. I almost cringe at myself.
But then he says, "You're... unique, you know? So... unruffled. I've just shared a tale with not such a perfect ending, and you respond with a witty quip."
"I guess I've just dealt with a lot of worse things, and I tend to use my sarcasm as a shield. Amuses you well enough, though?"
"That it does."
He holds my gaze, and a few loud heartbeats later, I could swear I caught him leaning forward about an inch before he appears to catch himself, and moves back slightly.
"I hope you know that since you first joined us, I never wished for you to encounter dangerous situations like these. You may have abilities, but you can still get hurt. And I don't want that." His body continues to be angled towards mine, and I feel compelled to profess a similar sentiment.
"I appreciate that. But you don't have to worry so much about me. I may get into trouble sometimes, but I do my best to be aware, and to be prepared." I say, my voice softer than normal. We have been physically close like this before, times when we had to huddle over something in the library, or on a mission or task when we would have to be quiet and move closer so as to not alert anyone.
But this feels different. This feels more intimate. Closeness without any sense of urgency, and not simply being situational.
My hand lays beside me, and I freeze when he places his hand above it.
He stares at our hands together, like he is pondering over something.
I think back to what he said earlier, about how, given the chance, Amelia would not be the one he would want to be with. A feeling of hope bubbles in my chest, and with newfound bravery, I want to ask him about it.
But in that moment he says, "Perhaps you should rest. Sleep off the effects of the drug in your system. There can't be much left, but it's better to just rest."
He takes his hand off of mine, and I immediately feel the lack.
I sigh, "You're probably right." I still felt groggy, and I definitely needed a shower. Or two.
Standing up, I say, "I'll just get cleaned up, then go to bed. I'll see you in the Dreaming?"
"Always."
"Oh, and, I'm sorry I maybe didn't say this earlier but thank you. Really. For helping us. For everything that you do for me."
He stands, and nods at me, hands in his pockets. It seems like he's returned to the safety of his shell yet again. Different from the Morpheus who held my hand moments ago.
I'm not having that.
I take a few strides towards him, and before he could protest, I wrap my arms around him, squeezing gently and resting my head on his chest.
I feel him tense, and eventually relax, resting his hands on my lower back.
"Thanks again." I whisper, pulling back to look at him.
He gives me a delicate smile once more.
"Anytime, love."
End of chapter 5.

This chapter's shorter, and more mellow, but I feel like they needed a moment, after previous events.
It's a slooow burn, I know, but I prefer it this way, as much as we'd like to jump Dreamboat's bones already. 😅
As always, comment if you'd like to be added to the taglist. Thank you all for the lovely feedback!

Summoned
(So my "write a post a new PJO fic each afternoon" got derailed by going out of town, and the next one-shot is going to be significantly longer by the time I'm done with it, but here's the first page just to tide my new followers over for a bit):
Maybe the ocean would always be nice to her, but Thalia was having second thoughts about the camp’s lake.
“MotherFUDGE-!”
“Come on, Thali!” “You can do it, Grace! “We believe in you!”
“Shut UP,” she shrieked, grinning from ear to ear but doing her best to still sound annoyed. “I am never trusting you again, Castellan, never!”
Luke just laughed from the other canoe. Thalia took a chance and swiped her paddle along the top of the water, which did manage to splash the jerk but also caused her dumb boat to wobble wildly again.
“You’re only making it worse!” Percy did not have room to talk, seeing as he kept twisting in all directions on the bench seat in the middle of their canoe. Every time the stupid thing shifted underneath Thalia’s butt, she tensed up and tried to compensate, but then they’d bob the other way instead, and it was all a vicious cycle, okay?!
And she loved every minute of it.
“Just relax!” The big Hephaestus kid in the front spot tried to offer. “It’s like riding a pegasus- or a bike!”
Thalia almost yelled back that she’d never done either of those, thanks very much, but a face-full of water cut her off first. Sputtering, the girl wiped at her eyes, then glared at a highly unrepentant Annabeth gliding by in her own canoe. “You are so getting tickled later,” Thalia swore.
The shrieking-laughing-cussing kept getting louder and louder, until, inevitably, Percy leaned too far over the side to look at something underwater, and Thalia jerked forward to grab him, and the combination of too much weight and movement dumped all of them overboard. At least the Hephaestus kid, Becken-something, didn’t seem to mind: he just grabbed onto the tow line at the front of the canoe and leisurely started swimming for shore. Rather than follow, Thalia enacted her revenge, lunging through the water towards Luke.
“Oh shit-” his alarm got the other two Hermes kids to actually start paddling, instead of just messing around, but they didn’t get away fast enough. Thalia gripped the edge of their canoe, and capsized it too. By the time she kicked away from that mess, cackling, Percy had made his way over to Annabeth. Even if he’d wanted to, the kid didn’t quite have enough bodyweight to dump it over so easily - he just swam alongside instead, dropping his head down underwater every time Annabeth tried to bop him with her paddle.
Hands grabbed at Thalia’s ankle. She kicked back, and was rewarded a moment later when Luke surfaced, coughing and rubbing at his forehead. They proceeded to slap water at each other for a few minutes, gradually drifting closer to shore, until someone shouted their names from the small beach.
“Last one back is a rotten harpy egg!” And of course as soon as she said that, Thalia kicked Luke in the gut, knocking him back with a yelp and propelling her forward.
“Hey! No fair!”
She snickered all the way out of the water and back up onto dry land, where Hailey waited with some towels and a raised eyebrow.
“Chiron asked me to come find you guys,” the older girl said, when Luke staggered up out of the lake as well. “Probably ought to dry off and change first, before you go down to the Big House.”
“Yeah, fine,” Thalia agreed, way more cheerfully than usual. Whatever the old centaur wanted, it was not going to be enough to spoil her good mood. And she managed to keep that mindset, all the way through getting dressed in clean clothes and rejoining her friends and heading down to the camp’s largest building.
But her good mood dropped like a stone when Thalia reached the glass-wall porch, and saw Hermes sitting at the table.
She could tell the instant Luke spotted him too, thanks to the sudden death grip on her forearm. Hermes must have sensed his son in return, because he looked up from talking quietly with Dionysus. He tried to offer them a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
“Luke. Thalia.” The god’s gaze flickered down and to one side. “And you must be the new Perseus everyone’s been talking about.”
A smaller hand tucked itself inside Thalia’s grip.
“What do you want,” Luke demanded, voice flat and cold.
“Hey,” Dionysus warned, speaking before the other god could, “You better watch it with the tone, kid-”
“It’s fine,” Hermes cut him off. “He’s fine. It’s not worth getting annoyed about.” Thalia shifted her arm, and Luke’s hand slid down to where they could both hold onto one another. If Hermes noticed, he didn’t mention it. “Sorry to drop in unannounced, but you two-” He nodded towards Thalia, and Percy pressing against her side, “-are being summoned to Olympus.”
“No.”
“Luke-”
“No.” Thalia could feel her best friend start to tremble. “You can’t.”
“I have to, kid.” Hermes kept his words soft, but it didn’t make them any easier to accept. “Even gods can get orders from on high. And right now, I’m under orders to bring both of them directly to Olympus. No stops, no detours, no delays.”
Thalia swallowed. Then she turned in place, pulling on Luke’s hand until he met her gaze. “Go find Annabeth,” she told him. “Keep her busy until we get back.”
His face turned stricken in an instant. But he didn’t argue.

| Her Bad Boy| Part two| Niragi x Reader
Tumblr media
————————————
Y/n Pov
It was now morning, quickly getting out of bed , I head straight towards the bathroom to begin my morning routine. After brushing my teeth and cleaning my face I began to undress and step into the shower, as I step in the shower I began to relax under the hot water that was running down my body.
As I began to wash up , my mind began to think of Niragi. He is super hot, I blush at the thought, after a good hour in the shower , I turn off the off and step out of the shower wrapping a towel around my body and another around my hair, I quickly walk into my room heading to my closet, I start to see how through my clothes...t finding a outfit to my liking. Under wrapping my towel I start to put on my underwear and bra then following with my clothes
After putting on my clothes, I unwrap the towel around my head and put my hair in a high sleek ponytail adding my back bow to my ponytail, I then put on my glasses and grab my backpack, grabbed my phone off the nightstand and head out my bedroom locking the door behind me I head downstairs.
While walking down the stairs I start to smell waffles and bacon, checking the time 7:00 am, luckily I woke up earlier enough to eat a healthy breakfast, when I finally made it to the bottom of the stairs I look in the kitchen to see my mother cooking and my sister at the kitchen table reading a book. As I entered the kitchen I was greeted by my mother then my sister.
Mom: Morning honey , your up early today want some breakfast..?
Y/n: Morning momma *kiss her cheek* I would love to thank u
Sister: Morning y/n how did you sleep *looks up at her big sister*
Y/n: Good actually how about you Seo young *sits across from sister*
Seo young: good *smiles*
After after mom severed our plates we began to eat and continue our conversation. You might be wondering well where is your father... well he kind of disappeared like literally.... I was in 14 and my sister was 10 at the time, he told us he was going to the store to grab something for our mother who had a bad cold at the time , we waited for hours and hours by the never came back.
I still wonder where he could be or if he is at least okay.. I would then ask him for a explanation on why he just left us and never came back. Ever since then it's just been us. And we would do anything to protect each other no matter what.
My mom and sister was all I had left to live for , the people I love the most and I would never change it for anything in the world. When I finished eating I put my plate in the dishwasher grabbing my back bag and phone I did goodbye to my mother and sister and proceeded out the front door locking the door behind me. When I made it out of the front gate I plugged in my headphones and began to walk to the bus stop.
~15 minutes later ~
After walking for a good 15 minutes I began to get thirsty , looking around I noticed a store a few steps ahead, walking a little faster I enter red the store grabbing some banana milk I quickly payed and head back outside and continuing my walk to the bus stop.
Finally arriving to the bus stop , I then take a sit and began scrolling through my phone. After a while the bus showed up and I stood to get on the bus before I stepped on the bus I turned to look if I could spot out niragi from either direction but he was no where to be seen so I turned back to the driver and proceeded on the bus. As I payed I turned and head to my usual seat in the back of the bus.
Checking my phone I saw that it was 7:30 am only 15 minutes to school, so I layed my head against the window listening to my headphones, I then closed my eyes and decided to take a nap. After a while , I felt someone tapping my shoulder , quickly sitting up i turn to see a older women smiling at me , I then take out my headphones so I could hear he better
Women: hi honey I think it's your stop
After she said this I looked out the window to see that I was indeed at my stop, thanking the women I stand up and proceeded to get off the bus , on my way off the bus I noticed that niragi was no where to be found so I walk the next couple of blocks, as I began to walk I turn my headphone down to be aware of my surroundings, after walking for awhile I heard someone scream in pain, stopping in my tracks I began to search my surroundings, after a few minutes I hear the scream again and began to follow the noise.
After 5 minutes I found the source of the noise, quickly hiding behind the wall , I then peek around the corner seeing four boys and another on the ground, one of the guys next to him then pulled his shoulder making him sit on his knees, looking a little closer I noticed that it was....NIRAGI.
Quietly I continued to watch, as one guy being the bat to his shoulders and another hands him a ball, after throwing the ball in the air he then hit the ball causing the ball to smack niragi in the face, as I continued to watch I couldn't help but let a tear slide. After a while the guys left and I hide more so they wouldn't see me, when they were far enough I quickly ran to niragi.
Grabbing his face with both hand I noticed that he was bleeding from the mouth, nose and eyebrow, I then take off my book bag and began to search for my first ad kit that I keep incase of emergencies, I then take off his glasses and clean his cut.
Niragi: why are you helping me * whines from your touch*
Y/n: it's what friends do *continues to clean his scars*
After I finished cleaning his cuts I told him that they would probably scar up later on.
Y/n: you should go home and rest* helps niragi stand*
Niragi: *looks down*
After helping him up I turn to walk away but stop in my tracks turning back to face niragi
Y/n: you know you would look cute with a few piercings *smiles and turn back to walk*
Niragi pov
After she walked away, I started to walk home , I wasn't even in the mood for school anymore. After a while I sat in the bus stop silently waiting for the bus and listening to the traffic. I then zoned out and my mind once again went to y/n. While thinking of y/n I noticed the bus had stopped infront of me , I then stepped on to the bus, payed and took a seat.
After 20 minutes I arrived at my stop standing up and getting off the bus I began to walk the rest of the way home stopping at a nearby store on the way. After purchasing my hat I needed , I beam the rest of the walk home, finally arriving home, I take off my shoes and lock the door behind me.
Fully entering the house I see my dad in the living room while my step mother was cooking in the kitchen, heading straight to my room I close and lock the door going in he bathroom and getting undressed I look at the bruises over my body , taking a deep breath I turn the shower and turned on the hot water and step in the shower.
~ 1 hour later~
I step out the shower and wrap a towel around my waist and headed to my closet, grabbing some shorts and a random t-shirt , I then take off my glasses and put in my contacts and lay in bed.
I then remember what y/n had said , piercing huh I thought, after a while I grab my phone and search for the nearest piercing place. After finding a place with a affordable price , I grab my phone and grab my box that I keep hidden in my closet.
Taking a good amount of money I head out of the door and began my walk, walking a few minutes I arrive in front of the shop, entering I tell the lady at the front desk what I wanted. After a while of waiting I was called to the back following the lady , we then entered a room and I then took a seat .
~10 minutes later~
Looking in the bathroom mirror, I knew it would take a while to get used to but it'll be okay, leaving the bathroom and heading to the kitchen , I noticed that my dad's shoes were gone, hmm I guess he left I thought as I continued to enter the kitchen.
Entering the kitchen I see my stepmother sitting at the table, ignoring her I head straight to the refrigerator grabbing a bottles of water and a apple after grabbing some snacks I turn to walk out the kitchen but was stopped in my tracks
Stepmother: HEY *wathcing niragi*
Niragi: hmm * turns to her*
Stepmother: why are you home so earl....when did you get those *looking at niragi piercings*
Niragi: Today and why do your care *looking at her*
Stepmother: And who do you think your talking to * stands and walk towards niragi*
Niragi: No one *looks down and bites lips out of nervousness*
Stepmother: that's what I thought..but anywho*looks him up and down then smiles*
Stepmother: Have a girlfriend yet*still looking at him smiling*
Niragi: No... but I do like someone *looking down*
Stepmother: Oh *smile drop*
Stepmother: Well...is she pretty *anger in her eyes, forces a smile*
Niragi : yea *smiles and remembers y/n*
After I said that I felt a slap on my cheek, looking at my stepmother I noticed that she's anger , but why I thought but before I could ask her she slapped me again
Stepmother: IF I EVER SEE IF AROUND HER OR ANYONE ELSE ILL FUCKIN KILL YOU *yells and looks at niragi*
I continued looking at her in complete shock after she finished yelling at me she then tried to force herself on me quickly pushing her away and running to my room, quickly locking the door I sit on my bed terrified.
Did she really do that..? Did she really say that ..? Isn't she married to my father..? Are ok stepmothers like this..? As a million questions ran through my head I heard my phone go off signing that I got a new message, wicking grabbing my phone and unlocking it I saw that it was y/n
~text mode~
Y/n🥰: hey it's y/n I wanted to see if you were ok? Did you get home safe?
*Smiling at the text I quickly responded back*
Niragi: yeah I'm fine and I also made it home safe thanks for asking
Y/n🥰: that's good.. we'll
Gotta go let me know if you need anything ❤️
~text mode over~
After texting y/n I decided to take a nap since I had nothing else better to do and I for sure wasn't leaving the room anytime soon.

Chapter 10
“I know you have no reason to trust me, but I am forever indebted to Wakanda for saving my life. To Shuri for piecing me back together so that I can even stand in front out you today.”, Everett began to speak. “After all my years of service, I come here as a fugitive, abandoned in my own land by my own people.”, he felt the sting of Valentina’s strategy to arrest him in his own home. “But never have I ever felt so free. That I do not have to play by the rules of a corporation that runs for it’s own merit and greed alone.”, he continued. He didn’t need sympathy nor did he want acceptance. But for once, he wanted to do the right thing without having to be hidden in the shadows or having to be silent about those with whom his true allegiance lied. “I fear war is on its way to Wakanda.”, he dropped the bombshell, in its eruption, murmurs and gasps. Then the effect spread, arguments and raised voices, the quiet court dissolved into a street fight. “I have been warning you about this M'baku.”, one elder rose to speak. Others pointing fingers and taking aim, unity was stuck together with a band-aid. “We are not prepared.”, another rallied.
Namor knew about all this, he had an instinct that this day was coming sooner than he had realised. He had been waiting for this even since that day he buried his mother, he had to be reveling in happiness at the sound of it. Even as close as a few months ago, he would have danced to the sound of battle horns that his time for his vengeance had come. But his eyes could only find the one soul he never wanted to hurt again and his empty heart, filled with the little goodness she had shown him, broke. She sat their with worry in her eyes, her thumb fidgeting with the edge of her top, her sudden emergence into his life had made him question his deeply held ideas. The hatred he had kept safe for centuries, now simmered down, not of his pity for the world but because of the effect she had on him.
He took in the people around him, time slowing down. The king, the tribe elders and this man all vehemently trying to protect this land, an extension of his own turf. He thought of Talokan, they always had the comfort of the ocean, a resource man could never conquer, a force so strong that always fought for it's inhabitants. But Wakanda was just another country with set boundaries. They could never run if they wanted to. “The president wanted to call for the destabilization of Wakanda.”, he heard the man speak. He observed him, he was another person tied to the princess in the same manner he was. They both owed their lives to her. Most rulers would use such debts to keep control but she did it to free them, give them another chance for she always saw the potential bestowed in people. Her heart had always been set on peace ever since the first day he had met her, while he knew he had no peace left to trust in it. Then how can he negotiate for it?
Shuri remained calm but she knew that even for a capable ruler like M’baku, this was going to be a tough call to make. The proceedings were only a formality, the only course of action now was to prepare. She sensed a fissure amidst the five tribes. The votes to choose peace were dwindling. “We need an army.”, they all sanctioned. M'Baku asked for them to think of this rationally, “And then what? There could be a way to divert this conflict. If we had –
“We don’t have time.”, The leader of the border tribe spoke against M’baku. “Amonst the five tribes, we have always been put aside. Our wants and needs never listened to. W’Kabi served as an advisor and yet his one request was never fulfilled.”, he spoke and Shuri clutched the seat cushion, fissures were turning into cracks. “We have one last demand, if set aside, the border tribe will no longer be a part of this constitution.”, and there it was, the first crack. External conflict on its own was massive to handle, with the tribes fighting against eachother, it would bring the end much sooner, make it more absolute. “What is your demand?”, M’baku asked and the words that Shuri heard next gripped her heart. “Reinstate the Hatut Zeraze.”, gasps rippled through the room. “The dogs of war? Have you lost your mind?”, M'baku stood up from his seat. The border tribe leader refused to back down, he stood resolute in his demand. “The members of the Hatut Zeraze have long been dead.”, M'baku reasoned but his words were engulfed by the sound the doors opening. “Always quick to assume, M’baku.”, a figure spoke and as he came into the light, it all began to make sense. W’Kabi sauntered to the center.
Namor sensed a change in the dynamic, the air was held tight like a knife, a kraken had emerged from his sleep to attack a ship that had sunk a spear into his arm. "Who let you in, W'Kabi?", he watched M'Baku's face contort into pure rage for the first time. “I could never stay away from where I truly belonged.”, W’kabi stretched out his arms turning to see everyone, his gaze finally landing on the princess. “My condolences.”, he smiled. “Your brother was too soft for the throne.”, his words were like daggers, Namor watched the glare Shuri held, she flexed her fingers, like a warning. “The queen, may she rest in peace but we have to commend his work.”, Namor’s brows shot up when he saw W’Kabi’s finger point towards him. “He did what I couldn’t.”, he spoke squirming like a snake, twisting around his leg to retrieve the guilt he thought he was beginning to overcome. “His actions do not resonate with your ideals.”, Shuri spoke back. He didn't know what he had to focus on, W'Kabi's accusations or the princess redirecting his statement.
“Oh yes, our lands now infiltrated with them.”, he huffed. Namor felt the blaze flicker within him. He can take on the comments he spoke about him but never about his people. “But he and I share the same ideal, Princess. We want to cleanse the world. Now you have two choices. Either you sit this one out or," He snickered as he got closer. M’baku stood in front of him. “You can join your family.”, he finished his sentence. M’Baku’s chest heaved with anger but his eyes held fear for the first time since Namor had known him. But The blaze that burned with him turned into an all consuming fire, he gripped his spear, all he saw was red. Threatening her, right in front of him. He got out of his seat, closing the gap between him and this criminal in a second as he skated over the tiles, he got a hold of W’Kabi’s throat and held him up. His blood surging through his veins, a second away from crumpling what he held in his hand. “You and I are not the same.”, he held the tip of his spear over W'Kabi's cheek. “Kill me", he croaked, "and your beloved secret will be revealed right this minute.”, His rage disappeared, he let go, W'Kabi hit the floor as he scrambled to get back up rubbing a hand over his throat. His anger now switched to fear, the spear in his hand wavered. “What is it going to be M’baku?”, he hummed as he got up.
M'baku turned to see Shuri, he was her brother first, king second. He will not put her life at risk again and neither will he lose his valiantly to leave her completely alone. He had promised to Tchalla that he would look out for her. He was surprised by the Fishman’s loyalty to the throne or rather it was his fondness for the princess. W’Kabi was a spineless snake, honor or valour meant nothing to him. He sat back on the throne, he will not take his bait. “The Hetut Zeraze will be reinstated.”, he accepted his demand.
Everett recognized the smile full of glee on W’Kabi’s face. It was the same as Valentina’s.

hot summer night
🍶 miyako + iori // [day 6] exam (challenge) - for @digiweek 2022 for this day, i'm trying to write about that one dynamic (and perhaps two characters) i rarely wrote about. this fic was tricky to write and i even finished this the last one among all the digiweek contents i created. but that's what this day is about, right? and frankly i'm happy with the result! this fic was inspired by this fanart. the first time i saw it, i knew i had to write about iori accompanying drunk miyako someday. this fic sets before kizuna and before miyako left for spain. idk why i remembered miyako having an exchange program instead of being a full-time student in barcelona. let's just assume it that way in this case, and sorry if i was wrong. at least i correctly implied miyako as a gemini (this is canon fyi). also, no, this is not a romance fic between those two, even though it has hot in the title (sorry i'm on title block so i only snatched one of the script's song titles). there's a minor kenyako, though. happy reading!

Tumblr media
Iori found Miyako in front of his cram school that night in June, looking very standout with her purple strands and cherry-tinted lips. It was easy to be in the limelight when you wore makeup and shirts with striking colours among students with crumpled uniforms and weary faces after studying for the whole day.
“Iori-kuuun!”
Her high-pitched voice didn’t sound like a mature college woman, however.
Iori sighed, getting a second-hand embarrassment because everyone’s attention diverted to him after she echoed his name. He proceeded to walk out and approached her, asking the obvious, “Miyako-san, what are you doing here?”
“Meanie. Is that something appropriate to greet to your senpai?” Miyako pouted for a second before returning to her jolly mood. “I happen to be around so I figure I can ask you to accompany me for a dinner.”
He glanced at her feet and atop of her head, only to find something was missing. “Where is Hawkmon?”
“Oh, I told Hawkmon to fly to your house with some food from my konbini. Armadimon is home, ne?” she responded. “Come on, Iori-kun. It’s been a long time since we had fun just the two of us. Isn’t this a perfect time now that I’m going to leave next week and the others are too busy with their freshmen stuff?”
It was not a bad idea at all. He initially planned to grab a takeaway because his mother and grandfather were out of town, but now with Armadimon’s dinner settled, he didn’t have to worry about his partner starving alone.
He just didn’t know that Miyako also had her own plan of ordering a bottle of sake right when they just stepped inside the yatai tent.
Iori took a seat beside her, eyeing her ever so cautiously. He remembered the day Miyako turned twenty last May, and she decided to celebrate it by secretly grabbing a can of beer from her store. She posted its photo in their group chat, prompting joyous reactions from Mimi and Taichi, in addition to a jealous wail from Daisuke. Miyako then seemed to embark on her personal adulthood venture, trying different types of liquor ever since.
“…you do understand that I am still a minor, don’t you?” he said as he watched her pouring the sake into a cup.
“And why do you think that will stop me? It’s not like I’m asking you to drink along.”
“Just because I’m younger than you, that doesn’t mean I cannot tell you off.”
“Well, can you?”
He could, for real. He just chose not to.
Miyako then chuckled. “Don’t worry. It’s because you’re with me that I have to drink more responsibly. What will people say if they see a high schooler carrying a drunk woman home?” She took her first shot and whooped right after her cup was empty. “Ahh, this is sooo good! You’re going to love this once you turn legal.”
“To be honest, I cannot see myself drinking even when I reach the right age.”
“Aw, what a shame. I look forward to coming back here and sharing sake with you.”
He pondered, sipping his ice tea. “Well, perhaps I can make an exception for you.”
“Right? I don’t think lawyers can survive without attending nomikai,” Miyako instigated as she snatched the first fresh-grilled yakitori from their plate. “Speaking of which, is that what you really want to aim for? Go to law school and become an attorney?”
“That’s the plan for now,” Iori also grabbed a negima but did not bite into it before he finished with his answer. “I know it’s hard to enter a law school, so that’s why I sign up for cram school as early as possible.”
“Yeah, but I just—” Miyako sighed. “I don’t want you to keep studying and let your youth pass without having fun. You’re only in high school once, so do something crazy. Skip a class, have some dates, go on a summer vacation with your friends….”
Iori paused, looking at his faint reflection on the glass.
“I am having fun,” he continued. “I have a great time battling monsters and saving the world. It makes me realise that I want to fight for the right thing and help people to get out of iniquity. And I believe becoming a lawyer is a good way to accomplish that.”
He was aware of how idealistic he sounded just then. If he was with other people, they would certainly be laughing at his words, telling him that the world was too cruel of a place for justice to prevail and he should just stick to a dream that was more within his proximity.
But he wasn’t with other people right now. He was with Miyako, who cracked a smile while looking at him with proud glimmering behind her spectacles.
“That’s just really you,” she said. “I know you’re a good kid the moment I laid my eyes on you. And I hope you know that I’m always rooting for you, no matter what. After all, I’m the big sis who just loves my reliable Iori-kun a bit too much!”
And that was when Iori couldn’t help but giggle. He was used to people calling him mature even when he was a little boy, but once he wore the high school uniform and felt a lump growing in his throat, it was still surreal for him how he really reached the age of adolescence. That was why he was glad to have Miyako around because she was a constant reminder of how he would still be someone’s little brother.
Her phone suddenly vibrated above the table, and as she picked up to see what was on the screen, Iori noticed her face getting a bit red. Somehow, he reckoned it wasn’t because of the sake, yet he didn’t want to pry further so he chose another topic. “How’s your departure preparation?”
“No hay problema! I’m leaving on Wednesday’s noon, though, so I guess you can’t set me off to the airport.”
“Ne, sorry for that.” It was rather unfortunate for him that Miyako chose to fly to Barcelona instead of using the Digital Gate for the sake of enjoying that wanderlust feeling. Iori started to consider whether this would be the right time to skip a class just like she advised just now. “Is there anything I can help with?”
“Hmm. Just promise me to pick up when I video-call you,” she said before quickly adding, “oh, oh, I know! You can visit me during your summer break. Ask Ken and the others to join too!”
Just like that, he easily solved the puzzle. “Ichijouji-san?”
“Ah, yes! He’s helping me learn Spanish even though he’s busy with college,” Miyako responded, and Iori could hear her voice turn jovial at once. “He even texted me just now to check my progress. I think I should go meet him tomorrow.”
There was something stirring inside him that he tried to brush off by picking up another skewer. However, it was obvious he didn’t sound so thrilled when he blurted out, “Oh.”
And Miyako caught his reaction with pleasure. “I thought you no longer hate him.”
“I don’t hate him.”
“Are you jealous, then?”
“No.”
But boy, did he never stray too far from the truth.
After all, he was a little brother who just cared about his big sis a bit too much.

<BS:ZA> Chapter 2:
Tumblr media
Logo: RINNΞ
Tumblr media
When Kaitou and Koe were sitting down on the couch they remained silent, fiddling with their fingers or barely looking at the people in the shelter. Rev noticed this and decided to approach the two— grabbing a chair and dragging it near the duo. "Nervous?" He asked with a soft voice. The two unfortunately said nothing, Rev sighed and leaned back against the chair. "Nothing to be nervous about, we are going to introduce each other later on, so.." He chuckled and crossed his arms. "You better start talking later. '' Rev smiled and the duo just nodded.
When Rev left them alone, Kaitou looked at Koe and he let out a sigh. "Did he just threaten us earlier?" He whispered, just for the two of them to hear. "I believe so.." Koe whispers back.
"Do you think this is enough for all of us?" Suro asked, looking at Rev and Aysh. "I think that's more than enough" Aysh giggled as she grabbed the plates and utensils with Rev's help. "Ahh.. smells delicious" Rev complimented making Suro look away and awkwardly chuckling. "Hopefully it tastes good as it smells" Suro then turned off the stove, taking off his apron then hanging it by a hook stuck to a wall.
"Let the others know that dinner is ready" Suro commands and Rev follows.
Rev approached the Director's room first, he knocked on the door. "Toko, Dinner's ready" He said through the closed door. He didn't wait for a response and just walked to the next room. He knocked once again. "Rookie, Rinne, Dinner's ready" Again, Rev didn't bother to wait for a response and just walked back to the kitchen. The food is already set by the time he enters the kitchen, he spots Aysh trying to talk to the two friends who still refuse to talk.
Footsteps can be heard from the hallway, revealing Toko, Yuki and Nora. The three took a seat and continued to wait for the rest.
By the time Rookie and Rinne enter the kitchen, Koe and Kaitou are already seated thanks to Aysh (and Nora's) help.
"Should we introduce ourselves over dinner?" Toko asked while scooping the food and placing it on her plate.
"I don't mind," Nora smiled as she handed a cup to Yuki. "I'll start, My name's Nora, the second in command and Yuki's one and only" Rookie glared at Nora when she finished her sentence. "Was the last part necessary?" Rookie chuckled whilst taking a bite out of her food.
"I'm Yuki if you're wondering" They raised their hand and gave Koe and Kaitou a quick smile. "I mostly stay in the shelter when people are out on expeditions"
"I'm Toko, as you two might have heard already but I am the director. Basically like a leader, we take any lost survivors and take them to this shelter where we obviously give them a home and what not." Toko explained as she continued to devour the food on her plate. "Also, Suro, this is good" She complimented and Rev chimed in. "That's what I told him!"
He cleared his throat and looked at the duo. "Hello, I'm Rev. Just like Yuki, I look out for the shelter so I don't go on expeditions as much. Though they are times I will help out if needed" He smiled and proceeded to eat, then Aysh waves at the duo. “I’m Aysh, the one you’ll often find doing expeditions with Rookie” She explained then she looked at Rookie. “Hm..” Rookie hummed, taking a bite out of her food. “Aysh already explained my role so I don't need to introduce myself” Aysh rolled her eyes on this. “You already made a first impression on them, you know?” Suro added, Rookie’s ears suddenly turning red. It was quiet for a couple of minutes, everyone eating and savouring the delicious food that Suro cooked.
“You two already know who I am, but let me say it again” Suro said with a soft smile. “I’m Suro, you’ll often find me paired up with Aysh when going out with expeditions”
“Rinne, pleasure to meet you two, I am also on expedition duty, usually partnered up with Rookie. Unfortunately our girlfriends are currently injured and Toko put them in house arrest for today” Rinne introduced.
“What about you two? No introduction?”
Toko said, teasingly yet she still has a smile on her face. The two looked at their plate, still a bit awkward. Kaitou looked at his friend and chuckled. “I’ll introduce the two of us. I’m Kaitou, this is my friend Koe. We’ve known each other since our Middle school years and we’ve been friends up to now” He said with a smile on his face while Koe was just nodding along with everything Kaitou was saying.
“Is it rude for me to ask everyone’s status?” Koe suddenly asked, Rookie almost choking on her food and Yuki almost spitting out her drink.
“Oh, I-I’m sorry- I didn’t-” Koe stuttered but was dismissed by Yuki’s soft laughter. “No, no, it’s quite alright, it just took us off guard” Yuki shakes their head, reassuring the duo. “As you already know there’s me and Nora, Rookie and Rinne, then there’s Suro and Aysh. I suppose Toko is married to her work.” She listed and then looked at Rev. “Yes, I'm taken, though I'm not telling who.” Rev winked then got up from his chair and walked to the kitchen to place his plate on the sink.
“Introductions out of the way, it’s getting late so I suggest we take a rest” Toko said, getting up from her seat and looking at everyone on the table. “Those four will tell you the basics of expeditions” Toko pointed at Suro, Aysh, Rookie and Rinne. Suro giving the duo a thumbs up. “Be sure everyone rests up” She smiled. Everyone went to their own room while Toko helped out Yuki and Rev with the chores. Toko hands Yuki the dirty dishes while Yuki washes them and Rev wipes the table.
Morning rolls around and a couple of people have already stepped out of their bedrooms. One of which is Rinne.
He stepped out of his and Rookie’s shared bedroom, yawning and stretching his arms— while doing so, he didn't notice a certain someone was just behind them. "Rinne?" One called out which led to Rinne letting out squeak at the sudden presence. "K-Koe..! You startled me there.." He stuttered out, holding a hand to his chest. "Good morning," He added and he smiled at Koe.
"Good morning, Rinne, don't mind me walking around the shelter"
"Oh, go right ahead," He insisted, chuckling nervously. There was a bit of an awkward silence for a few seconds, enough time for Koe to scan Rinne from head to toe. "What's that on your neck?" Koe pointed out and Rinne tried to hide it.
"U-Uhm.. That's-" His eyes wandered everywhere but Koe's figure as he tried to hide the obvious marks on his neck. "Just.. Just some mosquitoes.. from last night, heh.." His face flustered as he tried (but failed) to come up with an excuse. Unfortunately for Rinne, another member stepped in.
"Yeah and that Mosquito's name is Rookie"
"AYSH!"
Aysh immediately scurried away while also giggling, Rinne’s face was tomato red.
It took a while for Koe to finally understand what Aysh was saying but noticing the situation he decided not to say anything and just chuckled at this. “Oh, don’t laugh!” Rinne pouted and stormed out the hallway and to the kitchen— Koe then soon followed suit.
A couple of hours later, Rookie then finally stepped out of the room, though still half asleep. She heads to the kitchen and spots Aysh, Rinne and Koe in the kitchen. Rookie yawned and walked over to Rinne and pressed a kiss on his forehead before going to the counter and brewing herself a cup of coffee. Aysh and Koe quickly glanced at each then looked back at Rookie. “Oh, yeah, that happened, huh” Aysh whispered to Koe, which he only giggled at. “We’re gonna accompany Koe and Kaitou for expeditions, right?” Rookie asked, grabbing a mug and spoon. “Suppose to, Suro’s getting ready, i’m not sure where Kaitou is” Rinne replied, taking a sip of his own coffee. “I’ll go get Kaitou” The two nodded, Koe stood up from his seat and stepped out of the kitchen. Rookie hummed and poured the hot water on her mug and started stirring it, she leaned back on the counter and slowly sipped her coffee.
“You alright?” Rinne asked and Rookie just nodded. “Tired,” Rookie muttered, still sipping her cup of coffee.
When everyone had eaten their breakfast they all waited for Rookie by the front door.
As for Rookie, she was having a quick chat with Toko.
“So, what do you want us to teach the kids?” She asked with her arms crossed.
“Just the basic survivals, give them some tips on how not to get killed and what not” Toko said while handing Rookie some weapons. “Tell them the shortcuts and easy routes” She then patted Rookie’s back and opened the door for her. “Just the basics, no need to be extreme” Rookie nodded and started walking to the others.
“Hey, think fast” Rookie smirked and threw the bat at Kaitou which he immediately catched. “Oh.. I like your reflex” She cooed then handed the spare weapon to Koe. She looked around and once everything was set she stepped out of the shelter. “Let’s go then” Rookie ordered and everyone also stepped out of the shelter— Suro locking the door behind him.
They were all walking down the street, Suro pointing to where the shortcuts are located and where it leads.
“There are hospitals here but the medicines and ointment are close to expiring,” Suro explained while pointing at an abandoned hospital. “We should definitely steal a car,” Aysh said out of the blue, sighing. “Why the sudden suggestion, hun?” Suro asked and Aysh only shrugged. “I’m getting tired of all this walking” She whined but still kept on walking, Rookie rolled her eyes but still kept her mouth shut.
“There’s also an escape route over..” Rinne looked around while dragging the ‘R’ in ‘Over’
“There!” He pointed at a parking lot. “How is that an escape route when it’s just a forest after?” Kaitou asked. He’s curious about the escape route Rinne mentioned. Rinne just chuckled and started explaining.
“If you keep walking… Or should I say running straight ahead you’ll find a cabin there” The group stayed silent, letting Rinne continue explaining. “That cabin is filled with all types of weapons and if you need time for yourself that's a good place for you!” Rinne said enthusiastically. “Is that where you’ve been staying when you’re not on expedition” Rookie teased.
“No, I don’t!” He protested and Rookie just giggled at his reaction. They all showed all the shortcuts and escape routes as told and even told the two a few combat tips.
Koe spotted a lonely zombie wandering around, he grabbed his pistol and aimed at the zombie’s head but before he could shoot Aysh stopped him. “Huh? Aysh?” Koe looked at her, she simply just shook her head. “You’ll attract those bastards. Dealing with an ocean of Zombies is a pain in the ass, you know.” She rolled her eyes and grabbed Rookie’s bat before charging in and smacking the bat hard on its head.
“On expeditions we don’t want any attention, obviously,” Rinne explained. “That's why you either put a silencer or your gun or go for the short range” Aysh soon walked over to the rest of the group. “Well, that’s all the basics for now,” Suro said, turning on his heel and starting to walk back to the direction of the shelter. Rookie sighed and looked at the two. “We can teach you more if you’re willing to take on expeditions”
“Of course you’ll have a partner or two so you don’t have to deal with the zombies alone,” Aysh added. “Anyways, let’s head back. My feet are killing me” Aysh whined and complained. The rest nodded and followed behind Aysh and Suro but before they could go any further Koe and Rookie heard a groan and a rapid footstep approaching. Rookie looked behind her and indeed there were two zombies approaching them, rushing at them. But before Rookie can pull out her gun.
Bang! Bang!
Gunshots were fired. Koe then opened his eyes to see the two zombies now laying down on the floor, one zombie had its head exploded to pieces while the other had a hole on its forehead. “What the fuck..” Koe muttered under his breath.
Rookie whipped her head up to where she assumed the gunshots were fired and there it was, on top of a building. Rookie squinted her eyes and she spotted a silhouette holding what she assumed was a sniper rifle.
“Rookie!” Someone called out, breaking her train of thoughts. Rookie looked away from the building and saw Rinne running towards her and hugging her tightly. “Are you alright??” He asked, while frantically checking for any signs of injuries or bruises.
“I’m alright…” Rookie paused, gathering her thoughts before replying to Rinne.
“I’m both shocked and impressed, honestly” She chuckled then grabbed Rinne’s hand, tangling their fingers together. “Let’s go back before more zombies roll around” Suro commanded and everyone followed behind Aysh and Suro. The rest of the group started to walk, except for Rookie. She looked up one last time to see the silhouette gone. Rookie shook her head and started to catch up with the rest.
The walk back to the shelter was quiet, everyone was too confused and shocked at what happened a couple of minutes earlier. The only sound being heard was shoes crunching against gravel, sticks, and rocks.
They finally reached the shelter after what felt like hours of walking, all six of them are craving for the comfort of their own bed. Aysh shoves her hand on one of the pockets and pulls out the key, inserting the key in and unlocking the door. “We’re back” Aysh announced their arrival, Yuki and Rev were on the couch— the two greeted all of them and went back to chit chatting. “Oh, Koe and Kaitou” Rev called out, grabbing the boys’ attention. “Before you two head to the bedroom, Toko and Nora want to talk to you both” Rev reminded.
“Someone’s in trouble? Already?” Rookie teased which earned a smack from Rinne. “Ah!-” Rookie huffed and walked to the room. “Don’t mind her, I’m sure Toko just wanna get to know you two” Rinne reassured and walked to the bedroom.
The two slowly approached the Director’s office, Koe lets out a deep sigh before knocking thrice on the door. The two waited for the muffled “Come in”  from the other side. Kaitou then slowly opened the door and peeked his head out. “Toko? Rev t-told us you needed us?” Kaitou mentally slapped himself stuttering. They shut the door once they entered Toko’s office. She pointed on the chairs that’s in front of her, insisting the boys to sit down.
“Relax you two” She lets out a chuckle. “I don’t bite”
There was a quick silence before.
“I shoot, instead” Toko grinned and the faces the two made had Toko laying her head on the table, trying to hold her laughter.
“Anyways, I just want to know about… well… know about you two in general, history, strengths and what not” Toko tapped her finger on the table waiting for the two to let out any sort of reaction or words of disagreement. “The history is optional, the strengths and weaknesses, maybe a bit prioritise”
The two sighed and they nodded.
“I suppose, we can tell you a bit of backstory,” Koe muttered, occasionally glancing at his friend. “That’s good, take your time. I’ll sit here and listen”

plot drop, january 2022,
this mimics an appointment with a therapist sasha was “advised” to take after finding out about her father’s disappearing.
January 2022 The Collective's Vanguard Starfleet ship Tenax Propositi landed on Sotiris, a large island on the planet of Leora. Were you on the vanguard ship? If so, how did you feel about the diplomatic approach taken by Collective delegates? How did you feel about the Leorans? Were you interested in their magic? If you were on one of the following passenger vessels, what made you want to move to Leora? What made you finally decide to take the hyperjump?
“sergeant soverall, it’s good to see you! please take a seat, would you like some coffee or tea?”
sasha could not stand overly bubbly personas (even though she used to be quite bubbly herself) and the therapist was definitely way too bubbly for her liking (and for this early hour). “coffee, please.”, she said, straightened her uniform and sat down on the obnoxiously formed couch. in front of the couch stood a small table and behind that the therapist’s chair. malea, her supervisor had called her, all heart-eyed and amazed, was as gorgeous as she had been told. at least for her age. the woman scurried around, took her notebook and a cup of coffee with her and placed both on the table.
“i heard you were on the vanguard ship? that must have been so exiting!”
since malea didn’t get a reply to her question and sasha stayed as silent and as unimpressed as she was before, her smile faltered a little. the sergeant almost felt sorry. almost.
“they were quite diplomatic, weren’t they? i’m sure things could have gone worse if they had taken a different approach.”
“oh, i’m sure the leorans would have enjoyed it if the collective blew up the whole freaking planet.” the words left her mouth followed by a snort. she wanted to go back to her apartment. immediately. “of course they were diplomatic. what else should they have done.” sasha didn’t think there was anything wrong with the way the collective approached new planets.
“and how do you feel about living on leora? about the leorans? their magic” the therapist proceeded to ask, simply deciding to ignore the horrendous joke she just made. her question earned nothing more than a shrug, only after she added “have you made friends yet?”, she received a reply.
“it’s fine. great even. the leorans are kind, the food is fine, their magic is interesting, the weather is good, the water is blue. of course i already made friends, i mean, i have been here for two weeks already and they gave me two weeks off after what happened, so i had absolutely zero chances to meet new people, but sure.” the truth was, she had been exploring the city and some other things in these two weeks and had in fact already found a new friend - her neighbor, but the therapist didn’t need to know these things.
“and how do you feel about your father’s-”
“listen.” that was the last straw, the thing that made her stand up. “i am not interested in talking about my feelings. i am as fine as i could be, as fine as i’ve been before i found out about what happened. i’m definitely not interested in staying here any longer. so could please just tell my supervisor that i’m fine and leave me alone? i’m sure you’re a great therapist, this-” she gestured around wildly, “is just not my thing. thank you.”
malea sighed, nodded. “if you don’t want it, you don’t have to do it. it’s fine.”
sasha managed to muster up a small smile and a “thank you.”, before leaving the room.
and she definitely had no intent on seeing a therapist ever again.
