TWST Fic "Her Ivory Crown": Chapter 4
I am dubbing this the 'boys start getting agro' chapter lol

Ch. 4: Claiming Territory
"Ugh...seriously? We finally get off that island and manage to have some real fun and here he comes throwing marriage in your face like a magic grenade? I swear..." Manari sipped the drink in front of her with an annoyed expression.
Reine had calmed down after her two friends convinced her to take her break with them at Azul's 'mini' Monstro Lounge cafe but her stomach was still in knots. Elise frowned at the untouched pasta on Reine's plate, "He really got to you, huh?" Reine merely sighed quietly and Elise gently wrapped her arm around her, "Hey it's alright! Don't worry about that right now, ok? Manari is right, we came here to help with AND enjoy the festival so no more royal court drama for today."
"Or ever," Manari chimed in, "besides I don't think even Zehn would come bug you with them around." She gestured to the towering Jade and Floyd as she sipped the last remnants of the tropical drink in front of her. The loud slurping noise seemed to summon the twins immediately to their table. Jade was professional and smooth as silk, his smile never wavering as he swapped Manari's empty glass with a fresh drink he had already prepared. Either he was that good or the girl was predictable as this was her third glass.
"Thanks, Jade! Hey, you guys wouldn't be for hire, would you? Reine's got a guy that won't take a hint."
The twins turned to the mostly monochrome princess and Floyd immediately noted her defeated expression, "Ehhh someone is bothering Mantie Ray?" his expression quickly turned sinister, "I can squeeze him until he turns blue or goes 'pop'..."
Jade didn't seem bothered by his twin's tone whatsoever as he chimed in, "Oya~ Floyd...that won't do. You don't want to leave any evidence behind, you know?" his sharp-toothed smile matched his brother's.
The three girls exchanged concerned looked before Elise smiled up at the eel brothers, "Um that's very kind of you to offer, Floyd, but no thank you. I wouldn't want you to get your lovely suits dirty. Or your gloves for that matter." Floyd immediately switched back into his usual silly self and giggled.
"Ahh Star Fishie is so nice~ I wanna give you a squeeze~" Jade quickly pulled his brother back before he could pounce on the poor girl.
"Wait...did he just call you guys a starfish and a manta ray?"
Looking down at her mostly black and white uniform with angular diamond points, Reine could see the resemblance. Maybe. Jade offered an explanation in his calm voice, "Floyd likes to give others nicknames from creatures of the sea. It's something he's done since we were children. Miss Elise, or 'Star Fish' as Floyd calls her, has become a familiar face so it's no surprise."
Elise giggled, "I think it's cute."
"So what about Azul? What's his nickname?" Manari looked at the glasses boy across the way, charming guests left and right with a pleasant smile.
"Azul is Azul. Buuut Azul is also an oc-"
"Jade! Floyd!" the charming smile on Azul's face was replaced with a disappointed frown as he suddenly appeared at the table, "other guests are waiting. Stop bothering these ladies with your chatter."
"Ehhh...Mantie is sad and you're being lame, Azul," Floyd pouted. Twins were shooed away from the table despite Floyd's protests before Azul returned to his welcoming demeanor.
"What's this? Is something wrong, Your Highness? Is the food not to your liking?? That won't do."
Reine felt a pang of guilt and gave the Octavinelle leader a reassuring smile, "Oh no no, everything is perfect. I'm sorry. I just have a lot on my mind. I should probably return to my dorm's exhibit, however, I've been away too long."
"What? Reine, your girls are doing fine without you, come on. You've been pushing forward nonstop ever since you completed your mother's trials and were named the crown princess. An extended break won't kill you." Manari never beat around the bush about anything so why should she start now?
"Listen to your friend, Your Highness, it's no trouble at all. I'll bring you some dessert myself. On the house for all three of you and a nice discount for your dorms as well." Azul seemed to be acting out of generosity but in truth, the octopus never missed an opportunity once he sniffed it out. One taste of their special gelatos and he knew the Sacred Crown girls would be back for more in no time, tenfold as the word no doubt spread. So much that the discount he so kindly extended to them wouldn't even matter. Of course, those Royal Sword punks would still have to pay full price.
"I suppose a few more minutes wouldn't hurt..."
-
"Byyye Mantie, Star Fishie, and Tiger Barbiiiee~" Floyd and Jade waved the girls off as they left the cafe. Manari felt oddly happy about also earning a nickname from the odd twin like it was a badge to a special club or something. Elise waved to the boys and thanked them for the seashell hairpin she was given for visiting their cafe for the third time. Apparently, the booth had a points system. What Elise didn't know was that the hairpin was supposed to be reserved for guests on their seventh visit. Must have slipped the brothers' minds. Oops~
"Three times already? Wow. That's some serious dedication you got there, Elise."
"What? The food is delicious and I adore their underwater decor! It's gorgeous."
Reine seemed to space out as her friends bantered back and forth. She felt foolish as she tightly clasped her hands together, trying to forget how shaken she had felt earlier. Why did she feel so surprised when Zehn took the conversation towards courtship? It wasn't exactly a mystery, in fact, Zehn's information was at the very top of the stack of profiles she had been given of every boy that wished to become her suitor. It was all organized in a thickly bound portfolio for her to look at while she was here. She groaned to herself as she remembered leaving it back in her room on the vanity, completely untouched. He did check all the boxes she was groomed to look for: he had a flawless pedigree, he was an excellent student and mage, he was handsome, he already had extensive knowledge and pride for their homeland, and she was lucky enough that he wasn't exactly a stranger either. They had known each other since childhood...well...sort of.   Any and every time they met, there were always at least two chaperones with them at all times and the number grew as they grew older. Each meeting was scheduled down to the very last detail every single time. Though there were others in line for her affections, Zehn was always in first place. In fact, their conversation in the tea garden was probably the first time in a long time they were ever "alone" together. Even so, Zehn had always had a polished, gentlemanly air about him and never hesitated to shower her with polite, appropriate affection when he could. Except for today...today he seemed so...
 "Reine? Hello?"
The rose princess quickly snapped out it, realizing they were back at Rosabyrine's garden already, "O-Oh! We're here, good good."
The two girls exchanged a look, "You're sure you're feeling better?"
Reine slipped back into her regal, elegant mode so naturally, it was almost unnerving, "Of course. Thank you for my much-needed break, girls. I appreciate it."
She gave her friends a hug before walking back towards the entrance but heard Manari excitedly call after her, "Hey! Don't forget! Scarabia's hosting a party in their dorm tonight! It's gonna be a blaaaast~ Don't try to skip out, ok?"
-
Alyssa reopened the normal rotation for the next group as Reine got settled at her table, quickly setting out a fresh cup and checking the tea. She said nothing but she was relieved when she saw that Zehn was absent from the garden and the next group coming in. Once she was seated, she sat up straight and let out a sigh. Everything is fine, she thought to herself.
"Good afternoon, Miss Reine."
Reine looked up to the familiar voice and smiled brightly, "Riddle Rosehearts. How nice to see you again."
The Heartslabyul leader bowed to her and reached for the teapot as the princess began to stand up, "Please let me. I don't mind."
She watched him expertly pour her tea before pouring his own with a playful grin, "You've done this before I see. Just what one would expect from the Heartslabyul King."
The redhead's heart swelled with both pride and a flutter of bashfulness as he sat down and quickly changed the subject away from himself, "You are very kind, Miss Reine. How are you enjoying the festival?"
"Very much so. Your school is full of surprises. All good ones, of course," Riddle felt relief wash over him hearing this, "I even met a few of your juniors earlier," Aaaand it was gone.
"I see," he said a bit too stiffly, "I trust that they behaved themselves...?"
"Yes. They were wonderful boys," Reine laughed genuinely for the first time since the incident earlier that day.
After a while, the bell rang but Reine raised her hand to signal that she wanted to keep her guest's company a bit longer. Riddle was surprised but not unhappy. The two of them kept talking about the festival, who all she had met, her favorite things so far, and other normal every day topics that allowed the flow of conversation to stay relaxed and made her feel at ease. It was...nice. So nice that Reine raised her hand at least two more times. After a while, Riddle even had the pleasure to hear her candid laugh once again.
"I can't believe the hedgehog fell right into the teapot! The poor thing!" She chuckled at Riddle's story. He sighed and smiled at the memory, "Ace has never been the best shot in our croquet games. Thankfully the pot was empty."
The bell rang again for the last round of the afternoon and unfortunately Reine herself had made it a rule that the girls could forgo passing their guests along for three turns and three turns only. She pouted a bit to herself when she realized she had reached her limit but quickly recovered. She didn't want Riddle seeing such a face on her.
"Thank you for such good company, Riddle, but I'm afraid I must let you go now."
They both stood almost in sync and Riddle took Reine's extended hand...and gently kissed the back of it, "Thank you, Miss Reine. It's been a wonderful tea party."
The princess felt a small bit of heat light up her cheeks as she smiled at the red-headed boy...
"My my~ How interesting~ These Night Raven boys do move quickly don't they?"
Manari's musically impish tone popped into her head, making her face feel more heated. Nonsense! Riddle was a very courteous young man who was being polite to his homeland's princess and nothing more! Nothing...nothing? And yet it felt like something different than when Zehn-NOTHING.
The princess cleared her throat and bid Riddle good day as he started to leave her table but quickly remembered something else, "Oh, Riddle? Your classmates from Scarabia invited us to a party tonight. They said everyone was invited. Will I see you there perhaps?"
Riddle did hear about the party and frankly, the very idea of being there, surrounded by loud music, rowdy dancing, and the two rival groups of male students being forced to get along while being in the presence of the rare female specimen didn't appeal to him whatsoever...until right now.
"Oh...Oh yes, I and the others from Heartslabyul will be there!"
Great Seven, what had he just gotten himself into??
-
Again...what exactly had Riddle gotten himself into?
Thankfully it was cooler by the Scarabia oasis now that the sun had gone down but also cold enough to warrant a large bonfire which several students were dancing around like a well-coordinated riot. Mostly the boys of Scarabia and the girls of Almascaber, with Kalim, Manari, and Manari's vice dorm leader, Jinnah, in the epicenter. Poor Jamil had tried to stay on the outskirts of the group, not wanting to draw attention to himself, but the two girls leading the pack wouldn't hear of it. Thus Jamil found himself being dragged into the fray by an enthusiastic Jinnah.  Riddle saw Elise and some of her dorm talking and dancing about with some other boys from Octavinelle and some more agreeable Royal Sword students that didn't seem to bother the first group of boys as much. Here and there, he recognized the other girls from Sacred Crown but Reine was nowhere to be found.
"Reine is over by the pool if you are looking for her, RRRiddle."
Riddle nearly jumped out of his skin as the chuckling cat boy snuck up behind him, "C-Che'nya! Stop doing that! Besides...h-how do you know I'm looking for her specifically?"
Che'nya's smile widened, "Hmmm? You've been standing alone for a while nyow, just looking back and forth like a lost little red rrrabbit...looking for a white rrrabbit purrhaps? Hmm hmm~" before Riddle could protest, the feline continued, "Reine looked like she had fun at the tea purrty today so maybe she's looking for you too, nya? Besides...it would seem he can't find her either."
Riddle's eyes followed the direction that his friend's floating head nodded to. On the other side of the crowd, Zehn Cavalier was peering about the area as if he were trying to locate a certain face. Riddle felt that same prickling sensation as before spread through his chest and set off towards the oasis pool without another word. Che'nya hummed in delight before fading away once again. When Riddle finally made his way through the crowd and into an empty open area, he took a breath of the fresh night air, already exhausted from just trying to navigate all the chaos. There was a small path through some palms trees that led him over a dune and to the edge of the actual oasis pool. Reine was standing at the very edge looking up at the stars. She looked so peaceful with the breeze brushing through her now loose, unbraided wavy hair that fell to the middle of her back. After being in her uniform all day, she and the other girls had changed into their gym clothes which were basically a t-shirt in their colors and either shorts or joggers. Reine was glad she had enough foresight to choose her black joggers that had white rose and diamond shapes along the sides, given the night's chill. Riddle almost felt guilty for disturbing her in this quiet moment but she looked so...different. Not that different was bad! Of course not, he would never think that! The princess could wear whatever she wanted and it would be perfectly acceptable regardless! ...Riddle then realized he had just been standing there, staring at her back like some sort of weird stalker, and gently cleared his throat before things got more awkward.
 "Miss Reine??"
She turned to face him, a look of surprise in her violet orbs that still somehow shined in the dark, "Riddle! You're here..." she looked down at herself and felt a wave of embarrassment, "goodness I look strange like this, don't I?"
"N-No! Not at all, you look....very comfortable."
An awkward silence hung in the air for a couple of beats. The only things that broke it were Riddle's internal voice cursing his lame response and Reine's sudden laugh.
"Well, you are right about that. I didn't think my dorm heels would get me far in all this sand. That and...well I'm not that great at dancing outside of a ballroom setting to be honest," the princess shyly fidgeted with the hem of her white t-shirt, "Do...do you dance at all, Riddle?"
The redhead honestly couldn't remember the last time he had to. He was probably in the same boat at Reine, really. His mother had taught him proper ballroom dances and etiquette starting at a very young age so that sort of dancing came far more naturally. But this...
"I'm afraid not. At least not like this," he turned back towards the crowd of students clearly having a fantastic time, letting loose to the upbeat music. The princess understood perfectly and her empathy shone in her modest grin.
"Aren't we a pair of wallflowers," she sighed playfully, making Riddle smile awkwardly as he silently agreed.
-
Zehn was growing impatient. He searched the large crowd over one too many times and to no avail did he find the princess he was looking for and no one had seen her for over an hour, allegedly. He let out a frustrated sigh as his posse gave him the same answers that he had gotten from the other students as well. The little rose somehow slipped away without anyone noticing. Just when he was about to leave to try again another time, Elise came into his view. He knew that Elise was one of Reine's closest friends. Manari being the other but she was currently surrounded by a flock of fellow dance team members and that foolish Al-Asim character. He also knew Elise was easier to deal with and less stubborn than the commoner dorm leader. Thus a much easier source to utilize. Zehn shifted through the crowd with ease, getting closer and closer to the dark-haired princess. Just as he was about to put a hand on her shoulder....he noticed two very long shadows come from behind him. He wasn't exactly prepared for what or who was attached to said shadows.
"Oiii....why you bothering, Star Fishie?"
Floyd and Jade towered over the mage, both staring directly at him with conflicting expressions; Jade, calm but with a grin that didn't reach his eyes, and Floyd, like an unhinged attack dog on the edge of biting. He swore the gold eye on both of their faces was glowing but he refused to show how unnerved he felt on his face.
"I don't believe we've met. You're...friends of Lady Elise's?"
Neither one of the twins liked how this suspicious guy strained the word "friend" as if it was such an unbelievable concept. They both smiled down at him, showing off their pointy teeth.
"You could say that," Jade replied smoothly, "she is currently enjoying her time in our dorm's care...so maybe you should wait your turn and come back when you have better manners." Floyd giggled wildly at his brother's words, making Zehn feel even more uneasy about the two of them. Elise was none the wiser to the conversation happening behind her but Zehn could clearly see other Octavinelle dorm members around her shooting him pointed looks, reflecting the same energy the twins had. He said nothing before shoving past Jade and retreating to another corner of the crowd. Now that the twins had scared Zehn off, Floyd grew bored and unapologetically cut in to dance with the princess himself while Jade merely stared after the rude mage with a frown on his face.
Zehn resumed watching over the crowd from a distance, his aggravation growing. The twins clearly had Elise blocked off and made no illusions about the boundaries they had set. Manari was out of reach as well because of these irritating Raven boys. Jamil was giving him a suspicious look at the very moment as if he could sense Zehn's intentions a mile away. To the girls, these Night Raven students were probably just being friendly and entertaining them as their hosts. But to Zehn, he could see something else in their eyes: these guys were like animals staking out their territory and weren't about to let any 'intruder' even attempt to move in. It annoyed him to no end. The final nail in the coffin was Reine finally making an appearance...with Riddle Rosehearts at her side, gently holding her arm and guiding her down the sand dune's shift path and the two of them joining the others in the crowd.
"Very well..."
Despite the late hour, the girls returned to their foster dorm and the night ended with all seven dorm leaders sitting in the parlor, 'swapping notes.'
"Soooooooo...where were you during the party, Reine? You disappeared for quite a while."
Naturally, she was the first one in the hot seat. Manari was like a bloodhound when it came to getting straight to the heart of the matter.
"After today, I didn't feel like dancing. So I went to explore the oasis. And Riddle found me. So we talked for a while. That's all." Just the facts, that was her story and she was sticking to it.
"That's all huh...?" Manari had a grin that would put Che'nya's to shame.
"Yes, that is all," Reine rebutted with a strong poker face that quickly turned into a mischievous grin, "Honestly, I'm surprised you even noticed, Manari. You seemed to be plenty busy dancing your heart out with the Scarabia dorm leader and his second. And no one else...? How interesting..."
"Oooo~ she's got a point, Manariii~" Elise laughed.
"Oh says you, 'Star Fishie'! You have no room to talk and you know it. Hell, I'm surprised you have room for anything with all those Octavinelle boys wrapped around your dainty little fingers," Manari laughed right at Elise's gasping face after hitting her with a nearby pillow, making the other girls burst into laughter before resuming their own conversations.
This was definitely not the first late-night gossip session these girls had had in the past. Reine could remember other late nights back on their campus between phone calls. Talks of upcoming events with Royal Sword Academy. Talks specifically about Prince Rielle and Prince Yasmine between Manari, Elise, and herself...but now...Reine's ears picked up other fascinating bits of exciting talk from the others as her two best friends continued to pick on each other.
Charlaine mentioning how beautiful Pomefiore's dorm and uniforms were, how eager yet terrified she was to talk to Vil Schoenheit again to Petra who seemed very distracted by whatever she was looking at outside the window.
"I-I've seen all of his movies! He's amazing! I even brought the latest copy of the fashion magazine he modeled for in the spring. Do you think he'll sign it for me?!"
Petra, who normally never voiced any interest in this sort of thing, was listening to Charlaine but also trying to convince her that the 'tall, dark fae boy with horns' was real and was even pointing out the window to prove it but all Charlaine saw were green fireflies floating about. Petra eventually gave up and continued to listen to Charlaine spew more information about Vil's latest Magicame posts and beauty regiments.
Adela and Hebe, the more mature third years that normally stuck together, talking about Leona of all people. Idia had yet to make an appearance in person, much to Hebe's disappointment.
"He is a bit wild looking, isn't he? He's kind of attractive in his own way though right?" Hebe was definitely the kinder of the two. Adela smirked as she continued to file her nails while they talked, "Oh he is quite handsome...he'd make an excellent throw rug for my library." This made Hebe snort-laugh profusely, "Adela, you're terrible!"
Twenty-four hours max, that was how long they had been on Night Raven's campus and apparently, that's all it took for these new boys to take over their thoughts and words. Reine found her theory proven as she turned back to her two besties who were currently debating who was a better dancer: Kalim or Jamil.
"Hmmm, I dunno. Don't get me wrong, Kalim is SO much fun to dance with but Jamil's got some moves. He's just weirdly shy about it for some reason..."
Reine's memory flashed back to the party when she and Riddle returned to join the others. How happy and completely in her element Manari looked. How natural Elise seemed to be while being the center of attention. Neither one of them ever boasting or misleading any of the boys in their company. They were both just that alluring naturally in their own ways.
"You two looked like you were really having fun out there," Reine smiled.
The two other girls leaned in close to her, secretive grins on their faces, "you looked pretty happy yourself when you finally came back you know....you sure nothing happened by the oasis?"
The ivory princess just shook her head, eliciting disappointed groans from her friends, "We really did just talk. It was nice."
Manari and Elise noted the soft smile on their friend's face. Well, that was certainly something. The excited talk was interrupted by Adela clapping together her hands to quiet the rest of them, "It's very late, my darlings. Off to bed with you. We need to be in top form to support our boys in the Magift game tomorrow."
Petra was the first to protest but not because of the sudden push to go to bed, "Ugh why? We don't even get to play in the match! I finally make Captain and we can't even play? It's not fair."
No matter how much she begged, pleaded, and yes even tried to bribe their Headmistress to let the girls have a chance for the festival, Petra and any other interested candidates were turned down flat. It was an on-going tradition, because of course it was, that the girls were invited to attend Royal Sword's games and cheer them on as their sister school. Since they would be playing a match against Night Raven tomorrow, the girls were expected to attend in full force and support - as Adela put it - 'their boys' at the match tomorrow in the audience.
"I understand you are frustrated, my dear, but it is what it is. Besides...you know they are undefeated. We wouldn't stand a candle wick's chance. Even Night Raven College has yet to beat them in a standard game and we've seen how talented they are," Adela gently patted Petra's head like a loving older sister, trying to curb her disappointment. It didn't work at all but Petra resigned herself to a silent pout instead of continuing to argue.
"So we're just expected to show up, watch them crush their rivals per usual while pretending to be all impressed, and wearing their colors right? Sounds nice and boring," Manari rolled her eyes.
"In so many words, yes," the regal blonde stately flatly, "although I do believe our rose's beau has taken over as their captain, no? That should be an interesting change."
"Ew don't call him that, nothing is official!" Manari practically hissed at the notion of Zehn Cavalier being Reine's 'beau' or anything close to it. But Adela was correct, Zehn was picked as the captain specifically for this match against NRC. So he would be there, front and center, and expecting the girls to be sporting his team's colors in support. Especially Reine...who was not completely sold on the idea after the day's events. However, she did have another idea.
"It is tradition for us to wear RSA's colors for their matches. So of course, we will honor that and support our brothers...but in light of the circumstances, I think it would be nice to honor new friendships with our traditions as well. Don't you girls think so?"
"Meaning...?"
Reine's eye sparkled matching her growing smile, "Meaning...we're going to need more colors and ribbons. And maybe a few embellishments as well."
--------------------------------------------------
Re-reading through this I remember just how much of a smear on Royal Sword's good boy rep Zehn is lol. The villian bois don't like him, the good bois don't like him. No one likes you, Zehn Cavalier.

Cherry Blossom Confessions 🌸 Okkotsu Yūta x Reader
Pairing: Okkotsu Yūta x Reader (can be read as any gender, no pronouns used) Genre: fluff Word Count: 1 423 Summary: Yūta spills a well-kept secret Prompt: accidental confession A/N: Firs time writing for Yūta! Also, I wanted to post these stories in time with the local cherry blossom, but it keeps delaying because the weather was too cold (on Wednesday it snowed even). I’m just gonna start posting and hope the cherry blossom will eventually catch up with me.

Pink petals drifted through the air, looking like snowflakes in the warm afternoon light. It was only late March, but the sun had already gained back a lot of its power after the colder winter months, making you smile contently to yourself as you closed your eyes and held your face into the sun, trying not to let yourself be distracted by the person at your side.
Yūta was, for once, out of his school uniform, and instead dressed in an oversized shirt and some wide jeans which made his slim figure seem to drown in fabric. But it looked good, unfairly good even. You could tell he was fiddling around with his necklace, even without looking at him, and you couldn’t shake the feeling that he seemed nervous.
“What’s wrong,” you asked eventually, unable to take his fidgeting any longer.
You had known him for a good while, and his behaviour now was more like he had been when you had first met him. Back then he had been jumpy and shy, always expecting the worst of people. But as he had settled more into the life at Jujutsu High, the shy and easily scared boy had turned into the open-hearted, funny, and fiercely loyal friend you had gotten so attached to.
“Nothing,” Yūta’s answer came almost too quickly, making you raise your brows before you blinked open your eyes and turned to look at him.
He had cut his hair a little since winter, the formerly long strands having been trimmed into a new haircut, which made him look gentler than the rather harsh look he had been sporting before. His grey eyes met yours defiantly, as if he was challenging you to question his reply, but you didn’t do him the favour. Instead, you continued watching his face.
Recently he had started getting cute freckles over his nose that now started to turn a darker shade as he blushed under your inquisitive gaze. You wondered if he could tell your own cheeks were heating up, too.
“Anyway,” you shrugged, tearing your gaze away from him and focusing back on the pink petals of the cherry trees you were sitting under.
Silence engulfed you for a while, but you couldn’t quite tell if it was the good or the bad kind. You also didn’t know what you were supposed to say. Which was weird, considering you never had any problems of engaging in conversation with Yūta. You always found things to talk about, to joke about, even if it was only Gojo-sensei’s latest shenanigans.  But somehow it suddenly felt as if this silence was important, as if it were the preparation for whatever was to come next. What a strange sentiment…
“You’re beautiful.”
Confused you turned to Yūta, who was still watching you, his eyes widening as you met his surprised. He had never said anything like that before, usually his compliments were limited to your fighting in training or during missions.
Quickly you looked away, unable to hold his gaze any longer.
“Uhm, thanks…” you trailed off. Certainly he had to pick up on your embarrassment now, right? Your warm cheeks, the way you subconsciously had started playing with a blade of grass underneath your hand… you quickly pulled your hand away and intertwined it with the fingers of your other hand to stop the motion.
“Did I say that out loud,” Yūta wondered, a hint of amusement, but also embarrassment in his voice.
“Yeah, …”
He chuckled, and you glanced at him from the corner of your eyes. He had averted his eyes, and instead was staring up at the branches over you as he was chewing on his lip, clearly thinking hard about something. Suddenly he snapped his head back at you, almost startling you with the sudden motion, but it was obvious he had come to the conclusion of whatever he had thought over.
“I don’t tell you enough. Actually, I think I’ve never told you, but I always think you’re beautiful,” he confessed, his voice lacking any of the embarrassment from before and instead sounding determined now.
“Careful,” you chuckled nervously, “what will Rika think?”
Rika. Probably the biggest reason why you had never dared thinking of Yūta as anything other than a friend. You didn’t exactly feel like getting into a fight with a special grade curse over your classmate.
“Oh, she knows I think you’re beautiful,” Yūta shrugged, his voice returning to the more relaxed tone you usually knew from him.
“Does she?
“Yes, of course she does. I talk to her about you all the time.”
You furrowed your brows and turned back to look at Yūta. He had leant back, hands propped behind him against the grass, eyes closed. Black lashes rested against his pale, lightly freckled skin, and shadows of the cherry blossom danced softly over his features. He looked like an angel, you thought, or like the protagonist in some rom-com.
“You talk to her about me?” You hated how small your voice suddenly sounded.
“It’s not so strange, is it,” Yūta asked, his eyes still closed as he let the shadows slip over his face. “I have to talk to someone who won’t judge me. And Inumaki just keeps insisting I should finally confess to you. I can’t hear it anymore.”
You blinked, once, twice, wondering if Yūta was aware of what he had just said. And then you wondered if what he had just said meant what you think it meant.
“Confess what?”
The way Yūta tensed up revealed that he had not been aware of what he had just said. His eyes snapped open and quickly he sat up.
“I-”
The way he looked at you now, with widened eyes, and clearly insecure reminded you painfully much of the way he had looked at you in the first weeks of knowing you, always scared he had or was about to say something wrong, always worried you’d laugh at him, attack him, make fun of him or were out to hurt him.
“I- I didn’t…” His eyes kept skipping over your face as if the words he was supposed to reply with were writing in your features. After a few moments of stuttering around, he squeezed his eyes shut. “Confess that I like you,” he blurted out. “And have liked you for a long time. I didn’t want to tell you because I don’t want to put you in the weird position of rejecting someone who-”
“Yūta, Yūta!”
You interrupted the ramble he was picking up, instinctively bringing your hand up to his cheek. He still had his eyes closed, but instantly relaxed into your palm.
“Relax, it’s okay,” you assured him. “I like you, too.”
It took him a moment, but then the rest of the tension in his body fell away, and he blinked his eyes open.
“You do?”
The hope in his voice tucked at your heart and you nodded with a gentle smile.
“Yes, I do, you idiot. How couldn’t I?”
Yūta blinked at you, clearly surprised by your answer and uncertain what to do next. It took a few moments before the confused expression in his eyes melted away and was replaced by the joyous glimmer you loved seeing in his eyes so much.
“Then go out with me,” he demanded, a smile beginning to tuck at his lips, which turned into a proper grin as you nodded in agreement.
You were about to pull your hand away from his face, but he caught it in his, and keeping your eyes fixed on yours, he lifted your hand to his lips to place a delicate but lingering kiss on your knuckles, never breaking eye contact. The action drove heat into your cheeks, which only seemed to raise his confidence as he carefully lowered your hand and scooted closer to you.
“How about,” he leant in, his face right in front of yours now, “how about I take you out for dinner after this.”
You smiled at his suggestion and nodded. “I’d love that.”
“Perfect,” Yūta nodded to himself.
Then he wrapped an arm around your shoulder and gently pulled you backwards until you were laying in the grass, squeezed against him, looking up at the blue sky above you through the pink petals of the cherry tree. Suddenly he groaned, making you raise your eyebrows at him again even though you knew he couldn’t see it.
“What’s wrong?”
“Inumaki will be so pissed that he didn’t get to come up the ultimate confession-plan.”

Team Building (Eddie Munson x Store Manager!Reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
Summary: No one does Halloween quite like the Hellfire Club, and you just so happened to have promised to join them.
Previous Part: Closing Time
Warnings/Themes: AU where the Upside Down doesn't terrorize Hawkins. Reader works at the Claire's at StarCourt. Eddie works at TapeWorld. Mutual Pining and Slow Burn, Fluffy Fluff, Trick or Treating
Note: HAPPY HALLOWEEN and welcome back to the Store Manager Verse. I actually wanted to be further along with my chronological releases but it just never happened. This one is definitely probably one of the best timed releases with the holiday but there's a minor note that there's...maybe a reference to a yet-to-be published installation of the story. Eddie and SM are gonna be going on a little road trip at some point and will meet some of SM's family. DONT EVEN WORRY ABOUT IT FOR NOW. Just enjoy the shenanigans.
You can find my masterlist here for more featuring our resident Store Manager and all of my other writing.
Please do not interact if you are not 18+.
Enjoy!

"You look cute today."
"Thanks!"
"You need to look less cute next week. We're doing zombies, remember?"
"Got it."
Every day.
"Did you pick up that fake blood from Melvalds like you promised?"
"Yeah it's at home."
"Ok great because...because I was a little afraid you were gonna forget about our plans."
"Don't worry Eddie."
He reminded you every day.
"Ok so we're meeting at Gareth's at 4 on Thursday."
"Alright I'll be there."
"No, uh, glitter makeup? We're going for realism. Shock and awe."
"I swear to god!"
Every day for an entire week, whether he was scheduled to work or not, Eddie showed up at Star Court to remind you that you had promised to go Trick or Treating with him and his friends.
It was cute endearing.
October--and more specifically Halloween--was one of your favorite times of the year at work. It was laid back and fun. No pressure from either Back to School or the Holiday rush, you could "dress up" with little costume pieces or fun makeup every day, and you could have a bowl of candy at the cash wrap that made everyone's day a little bit brighter.
And outside of work, you'd really embraced the season.
Correction, Eddie made you embrace the season.
Before moving to Hawkins, Halloween had always been incredibly...commercial. Costumes and decorations from the little seasonal aisle at the drugstore. The biggest display of candy at the grocery store that you needed to stock up on unless you wanted your house egged.
And your social life consisted, mainly, of outings with your coworkers. Pumpkin patches and haunted hayrides almost always became team building activities. That wasn't to say your coworkers--new and old--weren't your friends too.
But with Eddie...it was different.
A harvest festival outside of Muncie, horror movies late at night during a thunderstorm, warm apple cider at Merrill's Farm while looking for gourds that were shaped like your heads. Pumpkin carving on the porch at the trailer, cutting out bats and cats from black construction paper, and now Trick or Treating with his friends.
You thought, early on in your friendship, that it was just some throw away comment. But knowing him as well as you did now, you realized that he really meant everything he said.
Every promise was purposeful, especially when it came to the people he cared about. Which was why you were sure he was determined to make the night perfect. Not only for you, but for everyone.
Especially the handful of little sheep that were newcomers to Hellfire.
"The freshman," he explained on Sunday as you worked on your costumes together. "They're little turds but...I dunno, they have potential."
You'd already heard about them at the beginning of the year as Eddie gushed about his new recruits; younger brothers that Eddie sort of always wished for but was thankful he didn't actually have.
"They're not gonna think I'm some like...weird old person right?" you laughed self-consciously, thinking back to Jeff's comment when you said you wouldn't buy them beer. And sure you were not that much older than Eddie, but you were sure you were ancient to a bunch of 14-year olds.
"You're the coolest person I know. And I'm the coolest person they know."
"You saw how my brother is though," you waved your hand dismissively. Jimmy's words--who would have guessed your boyfriend's not lame like you--wouldn't stop echoing in your head though.
Boyfriend. Boyfriend. Boyfriend.
Eddie still wasn't your boyfriend.
They must have echoed in Eddie's too because his cheeks flushed and he immediately became bashful. He ducked his head into his shoulder a little bit and refused to meet your eyes as he hacked away at the sleeves of the old flannel in his hands.
"Your brother," he finally replied, "is a little turd too. I'm sure the kids will worship you. More than they worship me. I promise. Everything will be alright."
---
Before you knew it, Thursday rolled around.
You were running late to get to the Emerson's to get ready thanks to a last minute visit from your DM. Who knew that pictures of you and your team for the company-issued costume contest would take so long?
Still, to save time, you decided not to change costumes until you got to the house. Seeing as Eddie had grand plans for everyone's face paint to make them look as close to Day of the Dead as possible, you figured you would be fine.
However, you were not expecting the entire gaggle of boys to stare at you with stars in their eyes as you stepped out of your car, duffle bag full of torn old clothes and gallon of fake blood in-hand, done up like a glam metal superstar.
Or as close to it as you could get with the accessories you carried at the store. Rainbow hair extensions and glitter spray, layers of chain jewelry, and too much cheetah print.
"You," Eddie began as he pushed through the group to get to you. His face was already a ghastly pallor thanks to a layer of facepaint from melvalds, exactly as he had envisioned. "Are a traitor and a turncoat, a disgrace to the uniform, and your status as Corroded Coffin's number one fan."
"I've literally never heard you guys play," you rolled your eyes at him.
"Did my lesson about the different types of metal mean nothing to you?" he clutched a hand over his heart and then reached out and fiddled with your jewelry. "And didn't I say no glitter."
"I just need to use the bathroom to wash it all off. Then you can make me gross and moldy like you."
"It's not mold. It's rot. Get it right." You flipped him off and he grinned. "Hey sweetheart."
"Hi."
"Nice of you to finally join us."
Eddie threw an arm around your shoulders and led you into the garage. You said hi to Jeff, Gareth, and Dave, and then he introduced you to the sheep.
Mike and Lucas and Dustin and Will.
They were all a little bashful as Eddie went down the line; it was reminiscent of when you met the others, except less fun facts and more silly tidbits meant to embarrass the kids.
Will the Wise whose worst stat was intelligence. Dustin who had a girlfriend in Utah--
"She's real, I swear."
--Mike who had already gone through two new characters because he couldn't roll to save his life. Literally. And Lucas who liked sports.
"Oh my god," you scoffed at Eddie. “You make it sound like sports are a scourge."
"They are."
"You like hockey."
"I," Eddie paused. "Tolerate hockey."
You grinned triumphantly and said hello to each of the boys before ducking into the house to get changed.
"Dude, she is way out of your league." you could hear Mike whine, followed by a dull thud of a fist hitting an arm.
"That's what we've been telling him the whole time," Dave cackled.
---
Eddie and Will were the masterminds behind the zombification process--bickering back and forth about what scar went where and how gross that pus should look as they applied facepaint--but all the boys tossed in their creative input.
"Oh my god, do you still have that rubber eyeball from lunch? We can glue it to Jeff's hand."
"What if--don't touch my hair--what if we--don't touch my hair."
"More blood! More! MORE!"
Before you knew it, two hours had passed, it was dark out and gaggles of Trick-or-Treaters were already filling the streets. Gareth's mom had set herself up on the porch with a bowl full of fun-sized candy and wished you all farewell as you took off down the sidewalk.
A veritable hoard of the undead, with ripped clothes, foaming mouths, blood-soaked hands, and pillowcases to double as treat bags.
To your surprise, there was a lot more to Trick or Treating than you had initially thought. All your childhood, you'd just gone door to door for a few blocks, rang a bell, got some candy, and at the end of the night traded treats with your brothers or your friends.
To Hellfire, it was just as involved as any of their DnD campaigns. And it's how you learned more about each of the boys, and surprisingly, more about their fearless leader.
Lucas and Mike were the perfect strategists and, as you began your trek, listed off neighborhoods that gave the best candy. You got the in-depth analysis between full-size and fun-size candies, chocolate versus peanut butter versus nougat, and you made a mental note to be more mindful of the choices you put out at the cash wrap for next year.
Dustin and Eddie were the navigators mentally mapping the distances between each neighborhood and how quickly and efficiently the group could get around.
"We should have just taken the van," Eddie scoffed when Dustin suggested Loch Nora first, the furthest trek of the night.
"No, then we'll end up back at Gareth's by 10. We just need to walk fast, it'll be perfect."
"And my mom is making a casserole for dinner," Gareth piped up. "She said you're all welcome to stay."
"Why don't we end at my place," Mike suggested. "We can just hang out in the basement and my mom will order pizza."
"No one wants to sleep in your dusty ass basement Wheeler," Dave scoffed.
"We're definitely skipping school tomorrow," Eddie pointed at all of the kids. "I hope you all know that."
Dave and Jeff, much to your surprise, were the "war generals" as they so graciously called themselves. They had a few rolls of toilet paper and a carton of eggs tucked away in their pillowcases, in case they came across--
"The enemies!!!" The older boys hollered into the starry night sky, quickly earning glares from other kids and parents as they passed.
"And who would that be?" you asked. The entire group looked at you like you'd grown a second head. "I'm sorry I'm not well-versed in Halloween mischief."
"Oh it's gonna be fun corrupting you." Eddie laughed wickedly, and started ticking off examples on his fingers. "People who tell us we're too old to trick or treat."
"I thought you said no one cared!" you exclaimed.
"Most people," he clarified, "don't care. But someone called the cops on us. What was it? Last year? Year before?" He looked at the older boys for confirmation.
"Mrs. Peterson who likes to sic her dogs on the kids who get too close to her rose bushes," Lucas offered next.
"If someone has their porch light on, but doesn't answer the door."
"When someone gives raisins instead of candy," Will supplied, ignoring Dustin's quiet, I like raisins.
The list went on: people who made fun of their costumes, the one house where the guy sat on his porch and douse kids with "holy water" for engaging in devilry.
"And Jason Carver," Eddie finished with a flourish.
They all looked at you for some kind of objection...or maybe your approval? You weren't too sure.
But at your soft nod, they all whooped and hollered and a few of the younger boys even took off running so they could jump and scare some of the kids who were just minding their own business.
"See?" Eddie asked and grabbed your hand in his as you followed at the back of the group. "And you were afraid they were gonna think you were some gross old lady. They're trying to impress you."
"Impress is a stretch."
"Ah ah ah," he shook his head. "I will hear none of it. I told them all that they were to be on their best worst behavior. Make sure you have the best time. That they are mere peasants here to serve the Queen of the Undead."
You let his hand go and pushed him away from you, even though your heart beat a little faster knowing he wanted them to behave around you.
"Go before I gnaw on your brains."
"You promise?" he waggled his eyebrows at you suggestively.
"Go!"
---
It was an eventful night.
You moaned and groaned and shuffled your way across Hawkins, just like the zombies in Romero's movies, to get all sorts of sweet treats. Candy and popcorn and fresh-dipped caramel apples that someone was making in their yard in Loch Nora.
The group successfully TP'd one house, and you'd even personally egged someone's front door after they called the gang delinquents. You were not athletic in the slightest, but you hit your target dead on, and basked in the boy's gleeful war cries.
You were grateful for Eddie's suggestion of sneakers because you'd walked more in those 4 hours than you had during any Black Friday or Christmas Eve double shift in your entire career. You were sure even a day at Disneyland couldn't hold a candle to the Hellfire Club Whistle Stop Walking Candy Tour of Hawkins.
The boys all took to calling you mom pretty early in the night after you stopped Jeff from chomping into a handful of starbursts.
"Your braces," you reminded him, motioning to your teeth. "You're gonna snap a wire; you hate the orthodontist."
He groaned and all of the boys started snickering. Eddie, of course, was quick to shame him.
"Listen to your mother!"
And the nickname just stuck.
Of course Mike--who you noticed tried to emulate Eddie most out of the group of freshman--had a retort.
"If she's mom," he said smugly. "Does that mean you're dad?"
The boys all started making kissy faces and you had to laugh as Eddie got a little flustered.
After watching him flounder for a comeback, you decided to help him out, so you crossed the distance and pressed a quick peck to his cheek before you turned and shook your finger at the boys in a disappointed way.
"Next person to sass your father," you started. "And you're all grounded." They all looked a mixture of confused and worried for a second.
"What does that mean?" Lucas asked nervously.
"It means you start the next session with half of your hit points," Eddie finally recovered, voice growling in a threat. The boys all clammed up and turned to head to the next house.
"Sorry about them," he shrugged and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Nah, it's ok," you smiled reassuringly. "They meant well. Still...til death do us part, I guess."
You both froze and you started panicking.
Why had you said that?
Still, Eddie was able to make it all better. He shuffled his feet and cracked a smile, then gestured to your costumes.
"Or uh...undeath. Considering."
Still, you had butterflies in your stomach every time one of the boys called you mom and dad for the rest of the night.
---
By the time 10 rolled around, you were back at the Emerson's house. Gareth's mom greeted you all excitedly with sodas and plates of hot buffalo chicken casserole with crispy tater tots on top, and you all sat in the garage to eat and divvy up your haul.
"So," Eddie slumped on the sofa next to you at some point after dinner was finished. You were tiredly watching Lucas and Dave argue the merits of Three Musketeers versus Milky Way and glad for the distraction. "Did you have fun?"
"Of course."
"Enough to do it again next year?"
"Is this your way of telling me you guys trick or treat every year?" you joked. "Because I kind of picked up on those hints all night."
"More like...I don't know," he sniffed awkwardly. "You still planning to be my friend next year?"
"Stop asking me that," you hit the back of your hand against his chest. "If I got to see you be a big dork with your gaggle of kindergarteners--"
"Hey!" came Will and Mike's whine from a few feet away.
"--and I'm still here, nothing's gonna scare me away Eddie."
He grabbed your hand to stop you from hitting him again, but stayed silent for a moment, eyes darting back and forth between yours as his tongue worried his lip.
You got nervous the longer he hesitated to say something, and once he did, you had the sneaking suspicion it wasn't exactly what he'd really wanted to say in the first place.
You hoped it wasn't what he wanted to say. Hoped it was just something he couldn't say in front of his friends.
"Then you don't mind if we do Alien next year. And before you say anything, I think I would make a great Ripley. I already have the hair for it and I'm pretty sure I have that same underwear."
"Sure Eddie," you agreed a little stiffly. "Sounds perfect."
He smiled, but it didn't quite meet his eyes.
Still, the two of you stayed huddled together on that couch for the rest of the night, surrounded by friends.
Hands held comfortably together.

the deltarune x welcome home crossover au... finally..... has some refs
ill give some super basic descriptions under the cut <3 but LOOK AT THEM AUGH
howdy pillar is a caterpillar monster (obviously) and an employee at 'sans grocery store, however he may as well be the owner with how he's maintaining it. he's fully expecting to become the owner one day. climbing the corporate ladder n all that! sans however is too lazy to make anything official.
poppy is a bird monster (also obviously) who works at the diner! she likes to bake as a hobby and is very good at it, but is far too anxious to start any business of her own. she likes to simply exist... make cookies for her friends.
sally is a lollipop/candy monster, sweet as sugar, who works as the school play teacher! despite her smaller size, she's loud and boisterous, and honestly would prefer to break into the bigger theatrical space - but for now, she'll have to prove herself by making her own plays and directing musicals for the school!
julie is a satyr monster who does a bit of everything at hometown - it isn't unusual to see her picking up oddjobs in every profession in the small town or even starting up her own activities for fun! it's never a dull day when julie gets up to something to bring the town together, whether it's festivals (just Big Parties Outdoors) or food stands!
frank is a vampire bat monster who lives with his husband eddie in their shared home-turned-post office. he works at the library part-time as a librarian, though his passion lies in bug collecting and teaching those curious about bugs as an entomologist. he's often dragged into julie's shenanigans to make sure her plans are reasonable and don't include her spending her life savings on colourful chalk.
eddie is a scarecrow monster who lives with his husband frank in their shared home-turned-post office. he doesn't have any employees working for him (aside from julie occasionally deciding to. help??? but who knows how useful that help is) so he does everything on his own as hometown's solitary mailman. he overworks himself quite a bit, and it doesn't help his memory problems makes it hard to keep track of all the mail, but he's dedicated to his job fully.
wally is a human! he is very normal and trustworthy. :) and definitely not opening up fountains to bring a certain entity into the real world, of course not.
barnaby is a canine monster and a self-proclaimed one-dog circus who performs for money. he at first simply visited hometown as a traveller, but found a new home there and has been living there ever since. he's often compared to sans due to the both of them having laid back dispositions and a knack for puns, however barnaby doesn't see it. they're obviously nothing alike, come on now.

Characters: George Weasley x reader
Summary: When George bumps into a familiar face he begins to realise what he truly wants for Christmas.
Word Count: 1167 words
Prompt: Best Friends To Lovers. Tugging You Closer By Your Waist. Coffee Shop. “You know you’re stuck with me right?”
A/N: This is the second of my Build-A-Festive-Fics so thank you to the amazing @achromaticerebus who put these prompts together for my favourite Weasley.
***********************************************************************
It was mid-December and George Weasley strolled through the enchanting scene of Diagon Alley, a swirling snowfall turning the bustling wizarding street into a winter wonderland. The shop windows were adorned with glistening decorations, casting a warm glow on the cobblestone streets. Everywhere he looked, green wreaths and twinkling lights illuminated the magical atmosphere, creating a festive charm that hung in the air. His breath visible in the crisp winter air, he couldn't shake the subtle ache in his chest. The laughter of couples echoed around him, their shared moments of joy accentuating his sense of loneliness. His eyes drifted toward a couple in front of him, heads close together, exchanging whispered secrets beneath the glow of a magical lamppost.
Trying to shake off the melancholy, George decided to visit his favourite coffee shop, "Brews and Brews." The aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and the warm glow of the fireplace greeted him as he stepped inside. The place was filled with laughter and chatter, providing a comforting backdrop to the holiday season.
As George waited for his order, his attention was momentarily diverted when he noticed someone familiar across the room, and a soft, nostalgic smile tugged at the corners of his lips. There you were, seated alone at a cozy corner table, bathed in the flickering glow of the firelight. You seemed completely engrossed in a book, a world of words and magic unfolding before you. George couldn't help but take a moment to watch you, the fondness evident in his eyes. The two of you had been firm friends since your school days, and this wasn't the first time he had found himself captivated by your presence.
Memories of shared laughter, late-night conversations in the common room, and countless adventures together flooded George's mind. But somewhere in amongst all the shenanigans, there had been a subtle shift that had taken place over the years; a shift that George had only recently begun to acknowledge. As he observed you, a warmth spread through his chest, and his heart skipped a beat. Picking up his coffee, he made his way over to you.
"Hey, stranger," George greeted with a playful grin, smoothly sliding into the seat opposite you. The rich timbre of his voice pulled your attention away from the book, and as your eyes met his, a genuine smile illuminated your face, recognizing the familiar presence.
"George! What brings you in here? I’d have thought you’d be working every hour you could up to Christmas," you remarked, curiosity lacing your words as you closed the book and set it aside.
George leaned back, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Well, you see, even pranksters need a break now and then and I thought I'd take advantage of the festive charm. What about you? Any exciting plans for the holidays?"
As the conversation flowed, the warmth of the fireplace mirrored the growing warmth between you and George. The laughter and shared memories from your school days echoed in the air, creating a comforting backdrop to the catch-up session.
"He didn’t! I always thought it was Lee!" Your laughter resonated through the cozy café, and George couldn't help but feel his heart swell with joy.
"I swear it was Fred! Honest! And that’s why Samson had to wear a hat for a month," George insisted, a playful glint in his eyes as he recounted the mischief from their Hogwarts days.
Your sceptical look only fuelled the mirth in George's expression. "And you had absolutely nothing to do with that?" you questioned; your tone laced with a hint of disbelief. The mischievous twins' reputation for pranks was legendary, after all, where you would find one of them it was fairly certain the other would be.
George responded with a nonchalant shrug, his expression confessing more than his words. It was clear that he was just as involved with the prank as his twin had been. The memories of their shared antics seemed to weave a thread between you, a thread that connected past mischief to the present moment.
Time passed in a blur, and before you knew it, the two of you were bundled up against the cold, strolling through a snow-covered Diagon Alley, and every step seemed to conjure up memories of laughter and shared stories. Beneath the gentle glow of the streetlamps, the soft light intermingled with the delicate snowfall, casting a romantic ambiance over the cobbled path. The crunching sound of snow underfoot accompanied your laughter as you exchanged tales of past adventures. The air was filled with a sense of enchantment, the flickering lights and the serene snowfall conspiring to create a moment suspended in time.
"I've missed this, you know," George admitted softly as the conversation lulled, his breath creating little puffs of steam in the crisp winter air.
"Me too. It's been too long since we've just hung out."
A comfortable silence settled between you, broken only by the soft crunch of snow beneath your feet. George felt the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air, and a nervous energy danced in his eyes as he searched for the right way to express what had been quietly brewing within him.
“I didn’t mean that I just missed hanging out. I missed you. I missed us.”
Your gaze met his, and the sincerity in his words lingered in the frosty air. George took a deep breath, hoping to summon the courage to delve into uncharted territory.
“You know you’re stuck with me, right?” you teased, a playful smile tugging at the corners of your lips.
George chuckled, a mixture of relief and affection evident in his expression. "Well, perhaps I want to be stuck with you."
The moment hung in the air, suspended between the snowflakes and the twinkling lights of Diagon Alley. The realisation of unspoken feelings coloured the atmosphere, as the two of you stood looking into each other’s eyes.
Suddenly, George reached out, gently tugging you closer by your waist. The gesture felt so natural, as if he had done it a million times before, and your hands came to rest against his chest. It was right then that George knew he couldn’t let this moment pass.
"You know," George began, his voice low and sincere, "if I’m stuck with you, that also means you're stuck with me, right?"
You met his gaze, a soft smile playing on your lips. "Good thing I wouldn't want it any other way."
And just like that, beneath the twinkling lights and the falling snow, George realised that the best Christmas gift he could have received was standing right in front of him. The transition from best friends to something more felt like the most natural progression, a love that had been quietly brewing for years, he just hadn’t realised it until now. Cupping your cheeks, he took a chance, leaning down and capturing your chilly lips in a soft but searing kiss. Perhaps this Christmas he wouldn’t feel so lonely after all.

Hii! I’m not sure if you have Heartsteel requests but I was wondering if you could do headcanons for the Heartsteel boys with reader (Gender Neutral) who’s a big fan of Halloween. Like, they go all out on their outfits and love to do escape rooms, haunted houses (rarely getting scared in them and solving a lot of the puzzles in the escape rooms) and also try to scare the Heartsteel boys?
Oh I could! Sorry for the wait, school and life kinda get in the way lol

Out of all the festivities, this is definitely his favourite one
While he's not as hyped as you, he likes seeing you preparing your outfit for the occasion
Maybe even helping you
Though he would insist on adding some "great' details
Would go with you to any "scary' attraction you wanted
He actually hoped to get some cuddles out of you because he was sure you would be scared shitless
But he was the one scared
Don't tell anyone tho
Would also probably like to have a quickie in the haunted house
He really enjoys going to escape rooms with you, since he can just stand back and look at you while you work on the puzzles
He loves when you try to scare the rest of the band with him
Like leaving a fake spider in Ezreal's favourite mug
You thought his notes were high? Wait till you hear him screeching about a spider
Or making Yone think there's ghosts in the house when he's sleep deprived and working (poor Yone)
Though you end up laughing too hard and getting caught
But the best was definitely scaring Aphelios
Since it was an occasion to take revenge for his pranks
This year it was hiding a fake severed hand in his bed
Maybe that was too far...he almost had a heart attack
And you two are his prime targets now
Yone
He isn't really a fan of dressing up, but would agree to do a costume with you
And holy shit did you pull through
He was amazed at your costumes
Though he's not a fan of scary attractions, not because he's scared, he just thinks they're cheap scares, but would do it for you
He wasn't amused at all, but as long as you enjoyed it, he was happy
Now escape rooms were more his thing
He enjoyed solving the puzzles with you
Rather than scare the other members with you, he tries to make you not do it
Especially since Kayn was really mad about your little prank of turning off the lights and grabbing him when he was watching horror movies. But if an occasion like that presents itself...
Aphelios
He and Alune didn't really celebrate Halloween as kids so you're determinated to make it up to him
Like making your costume with him
He really enjoyed it, especially cleaning up with you after ~
He got really scared in the haunted house, but actually liked it
But found the escape room kind off boring
As for scaring the other boys...He loved it!
You two decided to pull off a bigger prank and make the other boys think that there was a murder in their apartment before they moved in and there's a ghost there now
So you two began flicking the lights on them all the time, always covering eachothers backs
And doing other ghost shenanigans
Until finally, when they were busy you drew a chalk outline under the carpet and when they came back, pretended to trip on it, rolling it up a little and revealing a little of the outline
Needles to say, everyone was scared shitless
Untill you couldn't stop yourself and started giggling
They were so pissed at you two
Ezreal
He's not the biggest fan of Halloween, but can enjoy some aspects of it
Like making a cute costume with you
Maybe vampires? Or werewolfs?
Would ultimately let you decide, but would like something he can look hot in
Of course hated the haunted house since he got scared shitless
And just watched you do all the work in the escape room
He finally gets to get back at the others for teasing him all the time! Especially with your help
And you were more than eager to help
Especially since hiding in Setts plushie pile to scare him was cozy
And his reaction was priceless
Sett
He thought a matching costume would be cute
As long as he didn't have to wear sleeves
Was sure the haunted house would get you scared and wasn't sure if he wanted to go with you
But alas you needed your knight in shining armour
So he went
And surprise, surprise, he was the one scared
You had to be hugging him
But you enjoyed it
He was surprisingly helpful in the escape room
And he loved scaring the other boys
Like how you two made Kayn think he was haunted
Maybe he deserved it tho
K'Sante
He loved making your costume with you
You two looked the best no matter where you went to and Halloween was no exception
You both thought the other would get scared in the haunted house, but you both were just fine
In the escape room, he wanted to help you, but also enjoyed seeing you so focused and the satisfaction on your face when you solved a puzzle
But wasn't that keen on scaring the other boys
Maybe except Aphelios
He's still mad about the protein powder
That poor man was afraid to leave his room for a week after you made him think he found you dead
But it's all good now
And maybe he won't mess with his gains now

Ever After High x Twisted Wonderland AU Headcanons part 24: Way Too Wonderland
(Mini) special 7
AU concept
MASTERLIST
Warning: English is not my first language so sorry if it’s confusing.
I LIVE!!!
AND I’M BACK WITH A NEW HEADCANONS PART!!! ^^
I am so sorry making you wait for so long, a lot of circonstances in my personal life and very bad cases of writer blocks and lack of motivations got in the way! T_T
But now I did it! The new headcanons part is ready! :D
For this part, you asked for it, you were waiting for it! We’re now going into the Way Too Wonderland arc!!! :D
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-At NRC, after the festival’s events, the students were going on their daily lives, one student however seemed very distracted: Lizzie Hearts.
-Lizzie was being more home sicking than usual, especially ever since she received an invitation for her mother’s birthday.
-Things go similar to the EAH canon: the EAH transfers find out thanks to Brooke and are tricked into being spirited away in Wonderland but instead of the Evil Queen it's Milton Grimm and Snow White who tricked them.
-Since Apple is either a RSA students(Apple's Happily Ever After path) or locked in a mental institution (Apple's Badly Ever After path), Yuu and Grim took her place in the group for the Wonderland adventure.
-The TWST boys who get spirited away in Wonderland with the EAH transfers: the Heartslabyul gang.
-When Riddle learned there's a conspiracy against the current Queen of Heart, he went on board to help Lizzie and the others and the rest of the Heartslabyul gang got ropped in.
-Just like the EAH girls, the Heartslabyul gang, Yuu and Grim get Wonderland outfits.
-As they explore Wonderland, the group end up caught into Wonderland shenanigans and unwillingly step on Wonderland High ground making them meet Chase and forcing them to attend the school.
-Like in the canon, the group follow the school studying course to graduate and be able to leave.
-Riddle, Lizzie, Maddie and Kitty are the ones that come out the best in those classes.
-The others aren’t going bad at the class but some have big difficulties to go with the classes’s weirdness (*cough*Deuce, Ace and Grim*cough*).
-During their “stay” at the school the group meet Lily, the daughter of the White Queen.
-While talking with her, they learn she found out some times ago a book which looked very much like the Storybook of Legends(as she never saw it in person before Lily isn’t sure) and during a conversation with her mother through mirrorpads, the latter “advised her” to give the book to the Queen of Hearts for her birthday.
-She was about to add more when the group had to go back to classes.
-Back at NRC, everyone is actively searching for the missing students.
-Brooke was very frustrated to not be able to do anything to help, no matter how often she tried to contact someone through NRC’s mirrors but failed every time.
-She then discovered she can interact with objects, an ability she used to send a message which got found by Darling who then without wasting any time put on her armor, took Sir Gallopad and went to Wonderland through NRC’s well to go help her friends.
-She managed to infiltrate Wonderland High and to end up in the same classes than the NRC group and warn them about the conspiracy against the Queen of Hearts.
-Like in the EAH canon, Courtly made sure to make the classes impossible for the NRC group to succeed.
-At the chess game turned into a un-chess game Raven took Lily’s place as the white queen piece much to Lily’s frustration(‘I never get to play!”).
-Ace profit from the chess game changements to provoke a battle dance which result in a battle dance between Chase and Darling and give the opportunity for the others to sneak away.
-They get however intercepted by Lily who doesn’t understand why they sneak away like that and risking to fail their courses.
-When they explained to Lily about the conspiracy and the possible involvement of the White Queen, Lily was at first in denial ‘cause that would mean that not only her mother is involved in a crime against the Queen of Hearts, which is VERY severe, but also used her as a pawn which in the white chess kingdom and in the red chess kingdom is extremely serious.
-Headcanon: In Wonderland, using a chess piece which is beneath or against it purpose is a crime which could be very severe to an act of treason if the chess piece used is a royal piece.
-The others insist and told Lily to be on the look out and leave.
-Like in the canon, Courtly played with time and make the group failed their classes and get them sent to a trial.
-Things were not doing good for the group and they were about to be found guilty when Deuce objected that Courtly committed a more severe fault by having transgressed some of the Queen of Hearts rules.
-The rules in questions are “One must not play with time as, like with food, time must not to be wasted” and “Creating more no-sense in a no-sense society only disturb society’s order, this why, any no-sense perpetrator must be punished”.
-Courtly try to deny it but thanks to their magic the NRC group managed to prove she indeed messed with time to sabotage the group’s classes, which had also unwittingly sabotaged the classes of all the other students of Wonderland High.
-The more Courtly tries to justify herself or make up excuses, the more the group, particularly the Heartslabyul group, point out a Queen of Hearts rule she broke.
-Courtly, being so frustrated, end up snapping at them “WHO CARES ABOUT THOSE STUPID LAWS?!”.
-This put her in trouble with the caterpillar judge and in panic, Courtly teleported away thanks to a magical device.
-She teleported in her office to call Milton and Snow White in panic but the two told her to get a grip and that all is still according to plan ‘cause the White Queen reported to them that Lily had give the true Storybook of Legends to the Queen of Hearts for her birthday and told Courtly to go retrieve it.
-Meanwhile, Lily, still a bit shaken by what the NRC group told her, called her mother hoping all this was just a misunderstanding, but to her horror the White Queen confirmed that she was aware that the book Lily give to the Queen of Hearts was the actual Storybook of Legends and revealed that she told Lily to give the book to the Queen of Hearts ‘cause it was part of a plan to give the book back to Milton Grimm and to dethrone the Queen of Hearts to “Make things straight again”.
-She was even acting as if Lily was on board with the plan and ended up the call, leaving her daughter drowning in the horrible realization that not only her mother committed the crime of having used her daughter, her heiress, as a simple pawn but also for participating in a conspiracy against the Queen of Hearts.
-With the NRC group things realized that Courtly escaped to go steal the Storybook of Legends and quickly escaped Wonderland High to go to the Card Castle.
-Things go a bit like in the EAH canon and Kitty at one point vanished to go retrieve the book in the present room and Riddle, although at first upset to see Lizzie this distressed, quickly realized that the Queen of Hearts was doing an opposite game.
-Kitty reappeared smuggly when Courtly came with the “book” in her hands thinking she won and used a magical device to permit Milton Grimm and Snow White to enter Wonderland and give her the book.
-But when she asked them about her future “new destiny as Lizzie’s remplacement” like they promised only for Milton, Snow White and the White Queen to look at her as if Courtly was crazy and told her that there was no way she would take Lizzie’s destiny and that this plan was to push her and all the other “EAH students” to go back to the “rightful destiny” making Courtly realized that she have been tricked.
-But when Milton opened the book and try to defuse the illusion magic of the wonderland water, he realized it wasn’t the actual Storybook of Legends but a simple sketchbook stylized like the Storybook of Legends and then noticed a smirking Kitty holding the real book.
-See, when Kitty talked with her mother on Card Castle’s roof, the latter give her a sketchbook looking like the Storybook of Legends under the pretext that those were very popular in Wonderland and that she wanted to give it to Kitty as a gift ‘cause “it would be useful to her”.
-This gave Kitty the idea, once she appeared in the present room, the idea of replacing the disguised Storybook of Legends with the sketchbook so like this Courtly would find it instead of the real one.
-Furious, Milton Grimm by using his magic summoned strange dark creatures to attack the NRC group to take the book.
-The NRC group were shocked to see that the creatures’s aura was the same than the overblot monsters’s.
-The thing is: When Milton got interested in the overblot forms, he studied them, even collected the dark rocks from overblots to create minions with them and his magic.
-As the NRC group were about to fight, despite the creatures outnumbering them, everyone got suddenly interrupted by an army composed of the white chess piece students, Darling, Chase and all of them lead by none other than Lily.
-The White Queen tried to defuse the situation but Lily snapped to her that they don’t take orders from a traitor.
-With the White Queen’s confusion Lily is like “White Queen! You are accused of high acts of treason for having conspired against the Queen of Hearts and for having used your own heiress for a role beneath her role as a royal chess piece!”
-A battle happens with the chess pieces and the NRC group against Milton Grimm, Snow White, the White Queen and their creatures.
-Through the battle, Lily give orders and instructions to the chess pieces students like it was a game of chess.
-At one point, Raven found herself with the book and as she was about to be attacked by Milton’s creatures, she unlocked her unique magic “Mirror on the wall”.
-This unique magic permits Raven to create mirrors which act like portals that Raven can use.
-She use her new found unique magic to escape the creatures’s assault.
-Thanks to the efforts of the TWST group and of the chess pieces students, Milton’s creatures are little by little defeated.
-Snow White, enraged by how things are going, was about to use the little number of spells she knows to attack Raven only to be blocked and finding herself in a 1v1 against Vil.
-Courtly, that everyone forget about in the heat of the battle, enraged was about to take it out on Lizzie but Riddle spotted her in time and used “Off with your head” to put a collard on Courtly and incapacitate her.
-At one point, Raven noticed Milton Grimm being about to throw a spell attack on Vil, she used her “Mirror on the wall” to teleport herself just in time to throw herself between Vil and the spell, using the Storybook of Legend as a shield which made the spell and the book and turning it into ashes, much to the horror of Milton, Snow White and the White Queen and freeing officially the citizen of the Ever After world from the Destiny ideology.
-With Milton, Snow White and the White Queen been stunned in horror with what happened, Lily and Lizzie profited from the situation to make a direct attract on Snow White and the White Queen and as they incapacitate them both, Lizzie and Lily both tell with a smirk “Check mate!”.
-Seeing his allies defeated, Milton was about to retaliate, he got interrupted by the surprise apparition of the Evil Queen and the teachers of NRC who even destroyed the last creatures.
-Turns out the teachers back at NRC found also Brook’s message about what was happening in Wonderland and after they contacted the Evil Queen, they go to Wonderland through the way in the NRC’s well.
-Seeing they were surrounded, Milton and Snow White got no other choice but to retreat and escape, leaving the White Queen behind.
-Everyone celebrated the victory, the White Queen got arrested for her treason against the Queen of Hearts and got removed from her title as the White Queen and the title was then given to her daughter Lily.
-But the rejoices died down when the atmosphere became tense because of the presence of the elephant in the room: the Evil Queen, the one responsible for the curse in Wonderland, being present.
-But what shocked the Wonderlandians was the Evil Queen, being respectful toward the Queen of Hearts, bowing to her and solemnly apologizing for having put the curse on Wonderland.
-While the Queen of Hearts appreciate the Evil Queen came clean about her wrong doings, she still had committed a big crime against Wonderland by having put the poisoning curse which created more chaos in Wonderland and had broken the “Creating more no-sense in a no-sense society only disturb society’s order, this why, any no-sense perpetrator must be punished”.
-As the atmosphere was becoming a bit uncomfortable, Riddle came up with a solution with the Queen of Hearts rule 053 “You must replace anything you steal”.
-Since the Evil Queen had “stolen” the no-sense order of Wonderland with her curse which made the Wonderlandians madder, her punishment could be that she had to “replace” the no-sense order by removing the curse and bring everything back to “normal” in Wonderland.
-The Queen of Hearts, interested by the suggestion and intrigued by the fact that someone this young and who is not a native from Wonderland seem to understand her rules well enough to know how to use them, accepted the idea and decreed that as punishment for her crimes against Wonderland, the Evil Queen will had to remove the curse she put on Wonderland, punishment the Evil Queen accepted.
-With Raven’s assistance, the Evil Queen and Raven used their magic to remove the curse bringing Wonderland back to “normal” and removed the barrier and the Evil Queen is officially forgiven by the Queen of Hearts.
-Everyone was happy but then came the next matter: what to do with Courtly?
-After much discussion between the adults, it was decided that for having actively participate in the conspiration against the Queen of Hearts Courtly was going to be exile from Wonderland to NRC where she will be a student and being straighten up and being in house arrest where the teachers and the students will keep a very close eye on her.
-Once everything was settled, the Queen of Hearts invited everyone to her birthday party to celebrate the end of the curse.
-During the party the Queen of Hearts get to know Riddle, who was very honored to meet the current Queen of Hearts, and was very impressed by the amount of knowledge and understanding her daughter’s new friend had about her rules.
-If whoever who use the AU go with the Riddle/Lizzie ship: The Queen of Hearts will approve of the relationship, thinking Riddle is a fine young man perfect for her daughter and during a play of croquet during the party she will give Riddle a bright pink flamingo which Riddle and Lizzie will quickly understand the meaning as, as stated by the rule 069 of the Queen of Hearts rules “If the queen approve her heir’s relationship she must give her blessing during a game of croquet by offering her future in-law a bright pink flamingo”(made up rule for the AU).
-During the party Crowley and the other NRC teachers interrogate the NRC group about what happened to the Storybook of Legends and were very pleased to learn that the book was destroyed and Crowley happily announced that he will send a message to their world to be spread across Twisted Wonderland and the Ever After world to announce the wonderful news.
-As the party was going on, back in Twisted Wonderland and the Ever After world everyone received the news about the destruction of the Storybook of Legends, putting everyone in a euphoria, the Ever After world citizen were all overjoyed that they were finally officially free, that the destiny ideology finally came to an end.
-But back in the Never After realm Milton and Snow White, but particularly Milton, are enraged by what happened to the Storybook of Legends, falling step by step into madness in their anger and hunger for going back in control.

magic witch school franchises to support instead of h*rry p*tter
so with the hbo h*rry p*tter reboot being announced, here's some magic school/witch shows to give your attention to instead of giving the queen terf your time and money
little witch academia
Tumblr media
atsuko "akko" kagari attended a show by the witch shiny chariot when she was a child and being enamoured with her magic, decides she wants to be a witch herself. she enrolls at the magic school, luna nova. things are hard for her at first being the only student from a non magic lineage while everyone else are witches. and she does badly at school. however she grows throughout the show, both in her magic and in character.
the first half is mostly lighthearted and focuses on akko and her friends' shenanigans. the second half introduces an antagonist and is where the story starts picking up. there are some really emotional beats it hits. but of course akko triumphs through it all and picks herself back up - with some help from her friends of course.
mahoutsukai precure
Tumblr media
the thirteenth entry in the ongoing precure franchise. it follows a young girl named mirai asahina who spots a girl flying on a broom. on following the broom, she meets riko, a witch who's from the magic world and has come to her world (called the non magic world) in search of the linkle stone emerald. but when they're attacked by a minion of the big bad, they're able to transform into legendary witches known as precure.
this is more of a magical girl show and it doesn't completely focus on the magic school..there's also episodes that take place in the non magic world. but if there's one thing that's worth watching the show for, its the tight friendship between the main charcaters. they really feel like a found family. also the ending is one of the most emotional endings in the entire franchise.
this show is part of the ongoing magical girl franchise, precure. however you don't need to have watched the previous seasons to understand this season as all the precure seasons (excluding futari wa precure max heart and yes precure 5 gogo which ars sequels to previous seasons) are standalone stories
also a sequel for mahoutsukai is coming out in 2024 which will focus on the main characters as adults
witch hat atelier
Tumblr media
coco has loved magic ever since the day a mysterious witch at a festival sold her a picture book about its wonders. however, witches are born with magic, not taught, so coco is forced to give up that dream. one day, she sees a witch named qifrey work his magic by drawing glyphs. coco decides to try it out and discovers she can do magic by just drawing glyphs. however, when she accidentally turns her mother into stone. so qifrey takes her up as his apprentice so that she could learn magic, and hopefully reverse the spell on her mother.
coco is swept up into a world of magic snd everything she knows before is called into question. she also meets three other witches, tetia, richeh, and agott, who are also qifrey's apprentices.
one thing i adore about this series is its art. it is beautiful and gives off the magical fairy tale feel. all the characters are also really fleshed out. richeh's arc especially stuck with me as someone who has major beef with the education system in my country. it also addresses topics like ableism and systemic violence. there's also poc rep and lgbt rep (both canon and implied slow burn)
i will say if you're planning to go into this manga, trigger warning for chapter 49 because it discusses sexual assault (in a respectful way of course). if you're triggered by it you can skip that chapter and you won't really miss out on the plot.
also an anime adaptation has been announced and is currently in production.
ojamajo doremi
Tumblr media
this is technically not a magic school franchise but it is a witch franchise so i'm gonna go ahead and recommend it anyways.
doremi harukaze, the self proclaimed "unluckiest pretty girl in the world", dreams of becoming a witch. one day, she stumbles across a mysterious shop run by a strange old woman. taking a cue from what she's read in her stories, doremi recognizes the old woman as a witch. this turns her into a witch frog, as witches who are recognized by humans become witch frogs. with this doremi has to become a witch apprentice and learn magic in order to reverse the spell. she's later joined by some of her friends.
this is a kids show but its very fun to watch. it addresses some heavy topics in a way that's understandable for kids while still mantaining its lighthearted atmosphere. it also gets really emotional at times, especially towards the end of each season.
i will say that episode 12 of ojamajo doremi naisho has a character die of cancer (its never outright called cancer but its heavily implied). so if that stuff upsets you, you can skip that episode and you won't really miss anything in the grand scheme of things.
so these are some of my favourites. feel free to add more.

Hey, same anon that talked about the school magic barrier. So you think the magical barrier sucks? Because in the comments someone mentioned that, for example, Chenya broke in multiple times
[Referencing this post!]
Tumblr media
I wouldn’t say so? The students talk about the magical barrier as though it is strong and reliable (here’s an example from the beginning of book 6; Vil is surprised that there has been a breach):
Tumblr media
It wouldn’t make sense for the barrier to be weak or sucky when NRC is such a prestigious school that houses many important people. (Why bother erecting a barrier at all if it can’t protect the people it’s supposed to??) I think there must be some alternate explanation, either with Chenya or with how the barrier operates 🤔 (since we don’t have a lot of canon on either).
For the Chenya thing, it could really be a case of us not fully understanding his UM or his strength. Maybe he just knows a weak spot in the barrier he uses to sneak in (he isn’t exactly a stranger to this kind of thing; he also took advantage of Mrs. Rosehearts’ blind spot and snuck Riddle out of his lessons). If we want to run with the “Crowley is orchestrating everything” theory, then those hypothetical weak spots could be intentionally created by him to let Chenya in to trigger Riddle’s OB? Or Maybe Chenya is way more powerful of a mage than we think he is. It could also be that his UM works in such a way that it allows him to bypass barriers. (Like, if his UM makes him intangible and the barrier somehow doesn’t keep out intangible things.) We don’t have anything to prove that’s how his UM works, but we also don’t have anything to disprove it. This could also be the case for the ghosts that show up at NRC for Ghost Marriage, who also lack physical bodies and could breach the barrier just fine.
I saw a comment on the original post suggesting that the barrier was ineffective because it couldn’t even keep out trespassers on Halloween. I think the barrier works slightly differently in that case?? Like, if there are already people allowed in (for the Halloween festivities on-campus) the barrier isn’t capable of booting them out—ie a door can keep a wild animal out, but once the wild animal is already inside your home, the door is useless at protecting you. It’s also possible that whoever regulates the barrier magic (probably Crowley?) didn’t bother to recast the barrier after lowering it for Halloween guests because “it’s too much trouble” and the activities will be lasting a few days anyway; they might be waiting until post-Halloween to slap up the barrier again. (I’d imagine this takes a lot of effort, and they’d probably be worn out just from overseeing the Halloween events anyway.) This may also be the case for the Tsums, who drop out of a hole over the sky of Ramshackle. The portal is immediately bypassing the barrier and opening up overhead, inside of the barrier already.
… Ooooor it could just be as simple as “the lore is inconsistent, please suspend your disbelief for these details” since some of these stories would not play out at all if the barrier actually worked as intended all the time. We wouldn’t have Ghost Marriage, Chenya visiting, the Tsums (which Crowley confirms were able to bypass the barrier despite him reinforcing it) or Halloween shenanigans if the barrier didn’t conveniently not work 😂 You could call the magical barrier a plot device, honestly.

A/N: totally didn’t beta but just went back over to fix some things
Tumblr media
The addition of Criston to your household wasn’t necessarily a big change. He’d always been around, a family friend, dutiful guard, more of a father since your own was sickly and preferred his first child and her offspring. The man was there for most of the hardest moments of life, him and grandpa stepping in. He handled the boys, Otto a doting grandparent for you and Helaena. Alicent always just tried her best, neurotic as she may be.
They were married by the time you and two of your siblings had moved out. Aegon had been back home, fresh outta treatment and raw. Daeron was a junior in highschool. It seemed to be a marriage of convenience after your father died. Someone to support and guide the boys with fatherly love, keep things in array.
The wedding was quick and short, no hub-bub, no Rhaenyra or her family. A sharp snub but…what was new?
You hadn’t been home since he moved in. The ancestral home was monstrous, you wouldn’t have to see anyone if you so desired. But holidays were here and your finals were over. A long flight from your study abroad program in Yi-Ti’s capital would be rather horrid. While you centered on foreign affairs, Helaena was studying entomology and Aemond soon to be a forensic medical examiner.
There was always pressure to be the best— Aegon cracked wide open his freshman year. The rest of you had your own little chips and hairline fractures. Maybe not Daeron, the cheerful fellow. He was rapidly advancing to be on a professional football team at the mere age of 17.
You didn’t expect what it would be like at home for the Feast Day of the Father. Supposedly a cheery time, all the servants decorating the manor with garlands and shiny lights, a large ironwood in the foyer. Blue winter roses bloomed and bowls of smokeberry sat around. You couldn’t make it for the Harvest Festival as Yi-Ti didn’t celebrate that, luckily you were now on a school break. The memories of the past Feast Day were more unpleasant than anything.
Criston was to pick you up from the Airport outside of King’s Landing. You felt strange. He was a bit distant with you. Helaena too, but Aemond and Otto seemed to be the only ones she would open up with. Sometimes with you, mainly about her bugs.
You’d always held a childish affection for Criston. A shiver of embarrassment and goosebumps erupted on your arms at a memory. You were young, thirteen maybe? You’d gotten your period and the beginning of breasts. It was the Maiden’s day and you wore the prettiest white dress, hair and makeup done. Batting your eyes and blushing when Cole complimented, “A proper young lady, you look beautiful.”
You seethed with jealousy the rest of the evening, the Dornishman surrounded by maidens, holding young Daeron in his lap. Sharing a dance with Alicent and little Baela. Until a shadow loomed and his lips curled as he asked gently, “C’mon princess, you get a dance too.” You laid your head against his chest, pretending the dear family friend was your boyfriend.
Then it was over and that was that. Criston distanced himself further. Thinking about how you pressed yourself to his bigger body made you pinch the bridge of your nose. Now he was married to your mother. Hopefully Cole didn’t remember. Aegon sure had a field day, the prat.
You nodded off for the long flight, stopping over in Tyrosh before the arrival in King’s Landing. The familiar city line and bay gave a sense of nostalgia. The Red Keep no longer belonged to any royals so the Targaryen’s relocated to Summerhall and Dragonstone. Summerhall being Alicent’s home, while your half-sister lived on Dragonstone.
Jet lag was already setting in. Yi-Ti was many time zones ahead of Westeros. Grabbing your carry-on and other trunk of clothes and gifts you went to the usual terminal. As you hunched standing around others, shivering in the chilly air, a sleek SUV pulled up.
Just in time, some royal fanatics were beginning to notice a Princess in the midst. Criston ushered you into the car, quickly packing away the bags. Once climbing into the automobile he hummed, “Pack rocks in there? Good to see you princess, you look well.”
“Yi-Ti has wondrous gifts, I figured I would get some for the family. How’s Aegon?” The gold band around his left hand shone against the street lights. Criston’s mouth twitched, thinking over his words. He deadpanned, “Slow. He goes to meetings and such but is not having a good time at home. Alicent won’t let him back to school until he gets a year of sobriety. He’s working.”
You snorted, “Aegon, working? Wow.”
Criston rolled his eyes, offering a lopsided smirk. Your stomach fluttered a bit. He drummed on the steering wheel, questioning, “How is it out in Yin?” The fact he even knew the capital made you smile. You couldn’t help but gush, “Oh if I didn’t study the customs before I would’ve been laughed out. They’re a very complex society. I’m now fluent since living there. Very kind people, although a bit stingy.”
Criston let you babble about your foreign excursion, occasionally asking a question. He’d always been recognized as a good listener. Somewhere in your detailing of the history and the issues with Leng— sleep came back. Summerhall wasn’t a short distance.
The vague memory of being carried and shushed by pretty lips and a low timbre accompanied your strange dreams. You’d slumber deeply for the rest of the night.
Apparently morning too, jerking up at 2PM to speed shower off the airport grime and make yourself presentable for the family. Hustling down the stairs the smell of something cooking hit your senses— you didn’t realize how hungry you were.
Daeron was hovering in the kitchen while Criston cooked up some sort of stir fry, looking domestically lovely. Seven above, you needed to stop. Daeron did a double take and hugged you with a cheer, lanky arms holding suprising strength.
“Sister! I’m so glad you could make it, about damn time!” You hugged the baby of the family tightly, chuckling, “You try living across the world, jeez let me down! Daeron! I swear you grow a foot every time I see you.” Criston peered back to smile before returning to the task at hand.
You eyed your baby brother, chiding, “Looking ever the athlete. What are they pumping you with? HGH?”
He scoffed and flexed his legs, “No, simply protein shakes and plenty of exercise. Braavos FC is showing interest but mother wants me to go to school.”
“Do what you want Dare, not like everyone gets the chance to go professional,” you looked around, ”where is everyone by the way?”
Criston interrupted, “Aegon will roust eventually, your mother is working, Aemond in the library, and I think Hel is in the gardens with Otto. They’ll come around, I’m almost done- why don’t you two sit down I’ll fix some plates.”
The pair of you shrugged and did so, chattering about this and that. Aegon shuffled in, looking much healthier, but hair a mess and his clothes ill-fitting. He grumbled, pulling down a tight jumper, “I know I’m fat- piss off sis.”
“Well hello to you too big brother,” you laughed.
He huffed and hugged your seated form, a rare gesture from Aeg. He grabbed a soda and plopped down, yawning. Propping a chubby cheek on his hand, he complained about being out in the middle of nowhere and the irritable retail job he had.
Daeron began to chuckle. Aegon glared his way, mouthing something. You interjected, “What am I missing here?” Aemond’s stern voice filled the awkward silence, “Dear Aegon works at a lingerie store.”
“Women’s intimate apparel,” Aegon droned.
You guffawed, totally not surprised, the damn hound. Aeg muttered, “It’s more returns and angry old ladies asking about hosiery than a babe. Enough about me. Criston you done yet?”
Aemond, ever the prick, “Hope you made extra.”
Criston was in fact done now, placing the big bowl in the middle of the table, returning with some sauces and a side of Leng slaw. You blushed a bit and asked, “A street favorite in Yin, make this for me Criston?” All shades of purple eyes turned to the step-father.
His own olive cheeks darkened and he waved it off, “Just in case you missed the place.”
Lunch was eaten amicably besides Aegon and Daeron fighting over the last servings. To which Aemond snatched to bowl up for Otto and Helaena, informing Aegon he needs a diet. The eldest bristled, “I can’t help I’m always craving shit! I’m clean and sober, be happy about that!”
Things were escalating before Criston shut down the argument, dismissing everyone. You patted the dismal Aegon and softly uttered, “I’m proud of you Aeg.” He offered a brisk smile and stomped outside to light up a cigarette. You took the task of helping your step-father clean up.
It was a bit quiet, water running and dishes clanking. You almost bit your cheek bloody before blurting, “How has it been for you? A big adjustment, marrying into a bunch of loons.” He stared down at his hands scrubbing the plate, lips working around a response again.
“It’s alright. Quiet. Formal. Nothing new I suppose. I didn’t think I’d enjoy all of you back like I did. Brings some life around the place besides Alicent being a workaholic and Aegon moping. I’m a glorified house-husband.”
His dark eyes grew wide. Criston spluttered, “I- I don’t know why I said that. Father forgive me, that was rude.” His calloused hands scrubbed harder at the plate until you thought he might break it.
Grabbing a strong wrist, he jerked his pretty face to your own, panic poorly hidden. You stroked the softer skin on the inside of his wrist and murmured softly, “I know how mom gets. Your secret is safe with me.” You padded away, the man seeming stunned.
You’d go outside to catch some air, feeling a bit lightheaded and guilty getting in your step-father’s space like that. His little admittance was a surprise yet not. Criston was career military, before becoming the head of Royal Guard under Viserys. Rhaenyra dismissed him upon her assent and then he soon married mother.
You had expected less of a strain between the two, they had an obvious lack of chemistry, chaste kisses. Your mother picked up a lot of royal duties still, off working and traveling. Leaving poor Cole alone. Once again you needed to stop. Thoughts began to slip between the cracks.
Tumblr media
Aegon was out with his sobriety sponsor for the night. The wine flowed while he was gone. You’d finally gotten hugs and warm welcomes from Hel, Grandpa, and Mom. It was just family, smiling and giddy off the taste testing mother ordered. Even young Daeron was giggly and pink cheeked.
Aemond indulged slightly— the most you got was a looser tongue. Everyone shared stories around the crackling fire, laughing. Your own head was pleasantly swimmy, nestled next to your older sister. She seemed to be in the present for now.
Alicent and Criston shared the love seat, his long arm around around her perfectly postured shoulders. You kept making eye contact with him, blushing and looking away. Why was he staring? You launched into a story about Aegon trying to drunkenly ride a mule at the Crownlands Fair.
That seemed to release a barrage of other Aegon tales, making your sides hurt with laughter. Even a couple of Aemond’s sharp witted barbs at the few full Targaryen gatherings were discussed. The middle brother smirked and snorted, rolling his good eye.
It went on until everyone was either sleepy or borderline too drunk to continue. Your heart felt full, escorting Daeron’s drunk self back to his room. He mumbled with a goofy grin, “I love when you all come home, so much happier.” Tucking him in and grabbing a water out of his mini fridge, you made the teen swallow.
“What do you mean?”
“I dunno’ Aeg’s cranky, mom’s always gone,” he stopped and poorly whispered with wide eyes, “Mom and Criston don’t sleep in the same room.” Patting your brother on the head you gently scolded, “Don’t repeat that, take your meds and drink some water, night night Dare. Love you.”
“Love youuuuu, sorrryyyy.”
Quietly exiting his room you turned down the drafty hallway to meet the familiar dark pools of Criston’s eyes. He stared intensely, you peering back, an unknown force stalling you two. Eventually you padded to him, a little wobbly from the wine. He wasn’t quite sober either, faint Dornish accent lilting his voice toward the end of the night.
He licked his lips, still quiet. You peered upwards, the man towering over you this close. Your heart was beating rapidly, frantic feelings arising after Daeron’s admission. You whispered, “How long?”
He knew, blowing out a sigh.
“Eight months or so. I love your mother, alright dear?” His tone was wavering, weak, as if he was convincing himself. You stepped closer, enough to smell the sweet red on his carved lips. He inhaled sharply, hands balling at his sides.
“Why were you staring at me all night?”
“I could ask the same.”
He looked away, running a big hand through dark curls. Criston muttered, more to himself, “I can’t, not again.” Nodding in affirmation you stated, “You’re right, this is wrong. Good night Criston.” Pain bloomed in your chest turning away. Taking two strides a warm hand tugged your wrist, you biting back a squeak as the man maneuvered you into the wall.
He breathed, “We’re drunk. What is it with you Targaryens?” His warm forehead pressed against your own, hands secured around your waist. A whimper bubbled up from your throat, his warm body caging you in, impossibly toned thigh slotted between your own.
“Just kiss me, I’ve dreamt about this since I was thirteen.”
He groaned, seizing your waiting lips, gently kissing in measured movements. You arched into his hard frame, arms wrapping up around broad shoulders, fingers tickling at brown curls. Criston tilted his head, feeling his way in with sensual little laps. Opening for the elder you met his probing tongue, dancing slowly together as your lips smacked.
His huge hands came down to your ass, slipping under the skirt to hoist you further onto his hard thigh. You mewled again, Criston shushing with another kiss. He whispered into your ear, “Be quiet, hm? Bad enough as is.”
He returned to taking your mouth, quite enjoying the sloppy kisses. You shivered and he eagerly swallowed any noises, dragging your cunt across his thigh easily, aided by your bucking hips. The friction against your clit was sending you into a tizzy. Criston had to reluctantly place his hand over your mouth to muffle helpless whimpers.
He chuckled, “You sound so pretty, lovely, gods.” Instead he laid plush kisses down your sensitive neck and collarbones, humming in delight. You were sweating and drooling, climax quickly reaching an apex, wetness smearing all over Cole’s thigh.
Chest heaving and thighs twitching he ordered, “Now, come my lovely, come for your step-father.” Step-father? You gasped behind his palm, shivering and stiffening as your overstimulated pussy soaked through thin panties onto Criston’s thigh. He eased you down, bright teeth glinting in the low light.
You felt tears welling up, wiping at them aggressively. Nothing new, stepping on a bug made you cry. Certainly nothing to do with never having this again. No. The Dornishman seemed concerned, dark brows pinching.
“C’mon, I’ll walk you back,” he more or less ordered, hoisting you up bridal style. You sniffled, “Sorry, always do that after a good orgasm.” He scoffed, “Sure sweet girl. I’ll take care of you, no tears. Not like anyone pays attention, heads so far into their own asses.”
He gently placed you down, helping aid the still tipsy debacle of undressing and changing. A large shirt and panties would do. You climbed ungracefully into the bed, snuggling under the thick covers. Criston sat on the end of the bed, palm on your ankle.
“Are you leaving?”
He gave a sad smile, “I’m afraid so. I’m just down the hall.”
“Would you do this sober?”
He squeezed your leg, voice lowering, “It would’ve happened before you headed off I think. No one has paid me much attention in a while. You always seemed to idolize me, now I’m an old man fucking around with the girl he watched grow up.”
“I don’t care. When mom leaves again I want to fuck you.”
Criston rolled his eyes, “Now you’re drunk talking.”
“I mean it. I want you to fuck me. What they don’t know doesn’t hurt. Make me cum on your cock.”
Criston groaned, “Stop it or I’ll take you right now little princess. We’ll see.”
Tumblr media
It wasn’t long before the elder man had you bent over his bed, strong hips snapping into your weeping pussy. One hand pushed your back into an arch, the other pinching your sensitive nub. You slobbered and bit into the pillow, rubbing your tits into the rough fabric of the bed.
He panted, “Gorgeous girl, sucking me in, you wanted this huh?”
The rest of the family was out for lunch. You feigned illness, Criston offering to watch. No one batted an eye. Wasn’t long before he picked you up and snarled his intentions.
He smacked your ass, you keening, “Yesss- fuck yes— don’t stop! M’gonna come!”
Then tanned man plastered himself to your tinier frame, biting gently on your shoulder, muttering dirty little secrets. He roughly grabbed your jaw to get at your lips, fingers still maddeningly swirling around your engorged bud. He rasped, desperation tinging his tone, “Me too, mmfuckk, my perfect princess, gods!”
He swallowed up your wailing cry, body covering your own, like the man would envelop you if he could. He jerked your hips a weird way, you choking on your spit as his cock jammed into that sensitive ridged patch. Whining his name, heat and a strange sensation lit up between your legs, gushing helplessly onto the bed and the man’s cock.
Criston sounded like he’d died, groaning raggedly, cumming into his condom with a few more sloppy pumps, thighs trembling too. You fell forward, your step-father rolling right beside, chest quickly rising and falling. He managed, “I made you squirt.”
You nodded jerkily, moving weak limbs to curl into his perfect body. “That you did, daddy,” came the breathless reply. He grinned like a boy, smacking your thigh playfully, dark eyes sparkling. Criston laughed, “You need to watch yourself or I’ll eat your pretty cunt until you learn to watch your mouth.”
Stretching lazily you sighed, “That sounds like a good idea to me. I guess it’s good I’ll be hobbling around, they won’t realize I’ve had the daylights fucked out of me.” Criston twisted to give you a peck on the cheek, getting up to dispose of the condom. He called back, “Perfect, I love nursemaid duty.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Well, I like to say that time flies when you're having fun~”
Najma flips her hair with a sassy grin, laying on her stomach as she holds up her uno cards. You look away from the clock with an eye roll, sitting across from her and very much so winning uno. Her brother merely clicks his tongue, merely passing by the open door. “You never say that.“ It’s a quick comment as he continues carrying the laundry basket, earning an offended and annoyed gasp from his sister, who glares while you laugh.
That’s how most of your afternoons went in middle school, with you and Najma having fun, playing board games, karaoke, anything and everything as best friends would. With, on certain opportunities, Jamil. Who joined the shenanigans, briefly, but he made his presence known.
He was family. Even if distant.
Nonetheless, he was important, important as one could be. You wouldn’t say you were friends, more like close acquaintances, closer than most. Seeing as you texted each other occasionally, giving short life updates, or planning gifts for Najma. You even called sometimes, quick calls that never lasted more than five minutes cause something always seemed to happen, but he always promised to call back.
And you found yourself, with your knees to your chest and phone to your ear, listening. Sometimes you wouldn’t talk and you could hear him mutter equations under his mouth as he did homework, or when you ask if he had forgotten if he was on the phone, he’d respond ‘no’, short but he never did hang up til you were asleep.
You didn’t have feelings for him. You couldn’t. You wouldn’t. And all such thoughts were shoved into your own little Pandora’s box. Never to be open. No matter how tempting.
Even if his voice was deeper than you remember, that at times he sent shivers down your spine when he said your name. Or the photos he’d send to the group chat after Najma begged and bargained, photos in which you stared at for the longest time, committing them to memory.
You didn’t like him.
You stiffen a yawn, gripping your backpack loosely as you walk down the familiar path to the Viper house. One that you are very familiar with, to the point you even owned your own key. After Najma begged you to take one, cause you were both practically siblings. Walking up the steps and letting yourself in, kicking off your shoes by the entrance and dropping your bag off to the side, yelling your friend’s name.
She doesn’t answer. You let out a groan, wanting to simply eat a small snack and go before the crowd got too thick, especially after she was hyping up this local festival for weeks. You have expected her to jump on you the moment you stepped through the door. Seeing that, she swore up and down that you had to get there early for the best seats for fireworks.
“Najma already left. I'd assumed you were with her.”
You nearly choke, snapping your head up to the second floor, eyes nearly bulging out of your head at the sight of Jamil Viper, leaning over the banister, looking at you. Your throat goes dry, and you feel the box within shake. He looks different. Not bad different, but different. He has an almost softer look in his eyes and he looks relaxed. You open your mouth and close it, surprised, but before you could reply, your phone goes off. You check it and sure enough, it’s Najma.
Hey! Sorry, I had to leave early! But [Name] meet me there! Also, also Jamil, can you bring me my jacket, I left it! Thx <3
You had the ability to reach through your phone and strangle your friend, you would have. “I literally reminded her before she left.“ He lets out a sigh, pushing away from the wooden banister and shoving his hands into his pockets. He’s quick to grab his sister’s jacket and nudges his head towards the door.
“Let’s go.”
If you could curse the seven for what you’re experiencing, you would. The festival crowd is immense, with bodies pressed close to each other, while Jamil clasps your wrist. Your face burns and it’s hot—the box rattles—you don’t think you’ve ever been this close to him before. Maybe at dinner or during movies, but there’s always space. Either a pillow, or Najma making herself comfortable using both you and her brother for relaxation. His grip is tight so as to not lose you, but not painful. Leading you.
“Hey, let’s find somewhere less crowded.”
You nearly jump at the sound of his voice as he quickly slips into a small alley between two stalls. You both stop to catch your breath, before your eyes land on his hand that still holds you. As if noticing your gaze, he yanks his hand away with a cough, keeping his gaze from you. “She should be somewhere in this direction.”
You walk side by side in awkward silence. Each moment you can feel your shoulders grown tense and your lips pull together, before you let out a dejected sigh. Jamil glances. “This must be awkward for you—Sorry…. I’m sure you’re busy….”
A moment of silence passes, and you open your mouth to say something, before he beats you to it. “I don’t mind. Plans change all the time… And we’re friends, so you don’t have to be sorry.”
You choke at the word, friends. He views you as a friend. Maybe he could view you as—you shake your head. You give an embarrassed smile, “Friends? We’re friends?”
You had stopped walking, and he stands in front of you, turning to you fully.
The world is silent, and the wind is cool against your flesh. Prickling against the exposed skin of your cheeks and lips. The alley is dark, far from the others, far from the noise.
The first firework explodes with a loud bang, and your gaze follows. Bright colors and red and white illuminate the sky. It’s unreal. You feel the locked box within your rest rattle as you move your gaze back to Jamil. He has an odd smile, small, but there. He nudges his head. Beyond the winding alley is Najma and the rest of your friends. Completely and utterly unaware of you, watching the fireworks.
“We’ve always been friends, since forever. Nothing has changed.”
But it has.
A box in which you struggle to keep shut opens, and it fills you. Lights every nerve within your body, till you’re moving on your own. You can’t help but smile.
“Forever is kinda short. Someone I know always says, time flies when you're having fun.”
Jamil snorts, chuckling under his breath. “She never says that.”
Maybe you’ll bask in them. In these growing feelings, even if only for a moment. You bask in the warmth he provides when he’s near, in the attention he gives when you speak. You bask in it till the moment he goes. Until the moment he’s away, then these feelings will fade. They’ll leave and you won’t have to worry about being in love with your best friend’s brother.
Hey. I forgot to mention. I’ll be visiting home a lot more often. So, don’t be surprised when I return home suddenly.
… Or maybe they won’t.

JSHK 102
CALLED IT
No. 1’s power DOES allow you to travel through time within the school. Seriously, what is with Kamome Academy?
I first thought that we might go back to when Amane ‘killed’ Tsukasa, but in the flashback, Amane didn’t have his injuries yet. Maybe the injuries didn’t come from Tsukasa at all. Maybe something happened during the School Festival which ended up in a student dying and Amane and Tsukasa were somehow involved in it. Because of that, they faced extreme bullying? Or Amane ended up shouldering the injuries and he let himself get beat up because he considers it his fault that that student died? (Ooooh, what if it was Sakura?)
With everything that we now know about Tsukasa, I can’t help but have mixed feelings with him still. Bad end is him really just messing with Nene for nefarious reasons. Good end is him using convoluted time travel shenanigans to get Nene to somehow save Amane. Because I can’t help but think why is that Nene always seems to get roped into time travel involving Amane? Even if it was a supernatural effect of the school, it’s too coincidental that she ends up traveling to Amane’s past. So perhaps them being bound by the mermaid scale (red thread) factors into this. If the records (fate) can still be changed, maybe just maybe it’s Nene saving Amane which extends her lifespan.
MitsuNene bonding was fun. Nene as savvy as she is really is the wrong genre savvy. She keeps thinking she’s in a normal romcom when in fact she’s in a supernatural horror mystery. The MitsuKou was strong in this one with how Mitsuba relates Nene’s experience with Hanako to his own experience with Kou (‘Aren’t you afraid of falling deeper in love with him?’) Bad end says the parallels keep on getting cemented because Mitsuba and Hanako will end up as lost loves while Nene and Kou end up together. But I still can’t help but hope because the fact that Mitsuba lays it out so clearly here (‘You think you can stay with us forever.’) makes me think that this likely future is being set-up to be subverted. Because everyone knows that the obvious set-up is for this tragedy. There’s no way there’s a happy ending for all of them. But precisely because of that, that I think that AidaIro might subvert our expectations. And I can’t help but think that Tsukasa is somehow key to that.
