The implication that Nagi would suffer if he had to live the remainder of his life without Reo... "don't die before me"... i.e. 'do what you want but stay here'... he thought saying it would make Reo happy...

The fact that Nagi thinks they're similar -- much more similar than Reo seems to think they are -- makes their parting all the more bittersweet. It touches on the loner/outcast side of Nagi, to latch onto the first person to really connect with him and I like seeing that major part of his life actually explored in the oneshot. Like him living sparsely, alone, with no support system, is not just a goofy bit, it really does affect the way you perceive the world and your relationships.

I already liked and understood Nagi, but seeing it expanded on in the manga just made me love his character even more,, can we see them succeed and be happy in the main manga now,,, please,,

        No joke, period cramps hurt a lot. What's included in the monthly cycles are also mood swings, you're definitely ten times extra sensitive when it's that time of the month. Well today, you woke up quite late, maybe around eleven o'clock or so. Next to the wooden night stand, there's a white envelope. You take it and gently ripped off the cute little pink heart sticker on it. Then, you reached for the folded white piece of paper. The note read;

Y/n, you probably woke up to see this note by the nightstand. Around this time I'm probably not home. I may come home around nine o'clock, do whatever you'd like for the whole day. As always, I love you.

        You smiled reading the note and the "I love you" that Sae wrote down in black ink. After being fully awake (maybe lying in bed for an extra 10 minutes), you straightened the bed sheets and comforter then started feeling hungry and so, you headed down to the kitchen and made some breakfast. After eating some toast with avocado and eggs, you decided to take a shower and do some skin care. Finally, you just plop on the navy blue sofa and decided to just binge watch Tales of the Nine Tailed since it seemed interesting. You got your phone and scrolled on Twitter to see if there's anything new. Maybe after one or two episodes of Nine Tailed, you got sudden cramps. It felt extremely agonizing to the point where you thought you were on the verge of death. So now change of plans. For the entire day you're not going to be binge watching some k-drama but you're simply just going to wrap yourself in a blanket, tightly clench on your stomach while lying on the couch, play dead, and wait for Sae to come home.

        You hear the keys jingling and the sound of a door opening and closing. "I'm home" Sae calls out but it was dead silent. "Saeee..." you whine. Sae heads over to the couch and sees you lying down, wrapped in a white fluffy blanket. You sniffled, there were dry tear stains on your cheeks and he could clearly see them, your eyes were also quite puffy and red. "Angel, what happened?" Sae looks at you, a very concerned look on his face. "Cramps..." you pout. Sae gently strokes your head then heads to the kitchen to warm up some milk and a hot water bottle. A few minutes later, he then proceeds to give you a mug with warm milk and a plush-like hot water bottle. "Thank you." you then take a sip of the warm milk from the light colored orange ceramic mug. "You're welcome. Is there anything else you'd like?" "Hug..." you looked away, feeling a little embarrassed. Sae then kisses you on the cheek and embraces you in his arms for a long long time. You nuzzle against his neck, much like a cat. "Is there anything you'd like to do or watch?" your face instantly glows up. "I want to watch Spirited Away with you!!" A smile appeared on Sae's face. "Of course."

        About 50 minutes left, you fell asleep against Sae. Sae grabs the remote and turns off the TV, afraid that the sound and brightness would wake you up. This all ends when he whispers a "I love you" and slowly falling asleep next to you.

I've started thinking of my academics in a blue lock sense and it's actually working

like if you think about it, if you currently have the desire to do well, you've already got the baseline egoist mentality.

to build that up, you need a long term goal and short term objectives to reach that goal.

so like for example, to get top grades, I'm chemistry, I need to study all the content and make sure I understand it.

then after that, you have to devise a way to get to those top grades. you need to think about what makes you able to do well on the tests, and it has to be something unique to you. that's what your weapon is.

referring to the whole "making soccer from zero" thing, by putting all of these components into practice on a mock test, if you do well it will solidify your hope in yourself which will push you to do better.

then using the puzzle piece analogy, you need to find your chemical reaction to produce good grades. you have to find what studying techniques enable you to get there and put them together to create a formula.

then by optimising those studying conditions, you can produce more top grades.

ofc it's important to have something that is continuously pushing you towards that goal, so I think it's important to find out what that is before you do anything.

Isn't Nagi implying that he doesn't feel important to his parents?

When Reo says that this parents, unlike Nagi's parents, constantly meddle in their child's life, Nagi immediately says that it's nice. A vision of parents who are more active in their child's life really seems pleasant to him. When Nagi says "It means you're important to them" I hear an unspoken "Unlike me to my parents". Because his parents not only do not meddle in his life, but are simply not present in it.

And then there's this:

On the one hand, it's incredibly sweet. Because damn, these words really hit hard.

But on the other hand, it is also extremely painful. Because it's like it's the only nice thing he's ever heard from his parents. It's sad that Nagi was happy with such a minimum of care.

In shounen anime, when one character says something similar to another character (like Fushiguro's "If you die again, I'll kill you myself" or like countless "Don't die" of the numerous other characters), it hits different, because in each case, caring first was expressed through actions. One character was constantly next to the other. They didn't even have to say anything to show that this person was important to them.

And here, parents who give their son "freedom", tell him that it doesn't matter how you live, you don't have to be healthy or happy, we don't care, just don't die here kid (because we'd probably be in a lot of trouble if our deprived of care child died, right?).

We will pay for everything, the child will raise itself.
