Aesthetics Of My 2023 Reads- Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover

My first major re read of the year. I love this book despite some of the awful subplots like Anika having a crush on him and the Peter, Mj dynamic I still enjoyed it.

Second time had me appreciating the book even more than I already do. It was very fun one of my favourite characters was Maya Lopez who was some how written way better than she was in Hawkeye.

Prequels need to develop the characters to the point they are in the orginal story and this story did that perfectly. Allowing us to understand why Peter does not give up throughout the game and why he comes to care about Miles. It also shows his strong morals.

Another character I liked was Blood Spider who was similar to Peacemakers Dad. With how blood thirsty and angry Bingham was as well as bigoted you couldn't help but hate him.

Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover Aesthetic

For This Book I decided to go for a gritty black and white pallet as this book is really dark and feels like a detective horror movie when reading it. I also have a photo of live action Maya as we don't have a model for her as she's obviously not in the Insomniac games but might be in a Daredevil game but I really don't want to spoil the novel's ending.

Hope you like it. I can't believe we're half way through the reading year.

Just imagining what it would be like dating Loki and living with him, and like trying to get him to do chores. Just like imagine if it were raining outside, and so you haven't left the house in almost a week. At first it was kinda nice because you'd sit in Loki's lap while he's stretched out on the couch, braiding your hair while you're watching movies or listening to music or reading.

Loki is kinda lazy because he grew up being pampered by servants and his mother on Asgard, but he loves a clean home and being surrounded by nice things. He doesn't love doing chores, though. You guys would be lazy together for those first few days. Then the dishes would pile up, the plants would need watering, and the mailbox would be full of unpaid bills.

Since Loki is clueless about how bills work you would go to your desk by the window, grab your laptop, and the little pink spray bottle for the plants. "Get the plants, please," you'd say.

Loki would roll his eyes and probably over water the plants, but then magic them back to perfect health later -- you'd never need to know. Then he would start on the dishes, and you'd be on the phone arguing with the bank or insurance company. Then he throw himself down on the couch and look at you accusingly because for some reason you always insisted on balancing the bank account by hand and it always took forever.

"Y/N." He would say quietly and impatiently you while you chewed on your pen.

"Not now," you'd say, waving him off. "I'm almost done."

And Loki would flick his wrist, sending the pen flying from your hand.

"Loki!"

"Y/N!"

"What if the app is wrong?" You'd ask. "What if the account overdrafts and I have to pay a fee?"

Loki would round the desk. Then he'd reach over your shoulder and close the laptop with a click. "Then I'll get you more money to pay it off with."

"You wouldn't do anything illegal, though?" You'd ask uncertainly because it'd obviously be hard to tell if Silvertongue was lying.

"I make no promises," he'd smirk down at you. Then he'd pick you up, throw you over his shoulder like a ragdoll, and bring you back to the couch with him.

Something I realized awhile ago is Carol in Captain Marvel (2019) is probably so emotionless because of what the Kree did. Parts of her were missing/locked away which would affect her moods and personality. She’s more direct and soldierly. That starts to fade away when she realizes where she came from.

Now in The Marvels (2023), Carol is shows a lot more emotion even in scenes where it’s just her and Goose. She’s not as closed off and she’s more mature with her emotions (like reflecting on her feelings and then apologizes for snapping at Kamala). We learn later she’s been trying to recover her memories which would definitely allow her personality to show through in this movie. We also see her be a bit awkward with emotions around people, and that’s probably due to her still holding herself to a “soldier” standard and being fairly isolated in space. She’s more comfortable with Valkyrie and Fury and later on Monica and Kamala.

This was definitely character development and I don’t think Brie Larson should’ve played the character any differently in either movie. We’re supposed to see two different characters here. In Captain Marvel, it was Vers for the most part until her story is revealed. In The Marvels, it was Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.

Hello Everyone, I'm Melody and I'm a Nonbinary nerd who is heavily into other fandoms such as Marvel, Star Wars and Animal Crossing. This use to be a Sander Sides page but I've gotten tired of that fandom pretty quickly so I instead want to dedicate my tumblr page to stuff I'm actually passionate about. So on here expect lots of fun posts but I can't promise that I'll post often.
