I think everyone is different and needs an individual solution to solve their problem. But if you want to know about my personal experience: I’m a ride or die / all or nothing kind of person and I just deleted all of my social media (facebook, instagram, etc.) I know there are people out there who can organise their screen time but I am not one of them. I turned off notifications for my message system and i just logged out of social media, deleted the apps or the account and decided on what I want to do with the time I gained from this step. I still love to listen to music or sometimes I look for recipes or try YouTube home workouts but I’m not voyeuring other people’s life over the internet anymore. I don’t need to know what celebrity x or old classmate y is doing because I didn’t care back then to be honest and I still don’t care - difference is I’m taking the “I don’t care about them” into action. I have 24 hours just like everyone else and I want to make the most out of it. I try to give myself 1h in the evening where I answer my messages and emails. I hope this was helpful, I’m still finding my way for my own personal social detox but as soon as I figured things out, I’ll make a more organised post about it. Thanks for the ask!
