BnHA Chapter 410: Kacchan Fights a Baby

Previously on BnHA: Kacchan was born and then he grew up and murdered the Demon Lord.

Today on BnHA: Kacchan fights a baby. Tomura and Deku finally remember that they were supposed to have been fighting too this entire time, and get on with that once again. Tomura is all, “[literally just reaches out and grabs Deku’s face because Deku’s main character powers suddenly abandoned him in a fit of confusion].” Deku is all, “[chops off Tomura’s fingers which is somehow not even in the top twenty of violent things that have happened in this series in just the last five chapters].” Tomura is all “joke’s on you I still got your quirk :D” and fuck me he actually stole Danger Sense, what the fuck.

logically I knew AFO still had to be alive somehow because he’s too big of a villain to go out that easily without a proper sendoff. but deep in my heart, I’m still secretly disappointed

it just isn’t fair, lol. this guy has died more times than Rasputin and he’s still out here scheming his schemey schemes. when oh when will it end

sir you did not just say you had yet ANOTHER unused trump card up your sleeve??

(ETA: the translation isn’t fully clear here, but I think the trump card he’s referring to is the whole “I’ll just go back inside him and join the part of me that was already in there and we’ll take over Tomura’s body again together” plan that he was trying to pull off. I think. if not though, that’s certainly something worth speculating about.)

well as always the psychology in this series is unironically fascinating! he just wants acknowledgement at the end of the day, huh. just wants some love and attention. too bad he was born in a rat-infested hellscape and learned all the wrong lessons and turned into a crazed omnipotent murderlad

I actually had a theory about this! well more of a wishlist item, really. I can’t remember if I’ve actually posted about it yet or not. but it’s like. you know how Deku and Kacchan are always being really dramatic about holding hands? wanting to hold hands; not wanting to hold hands; being afraid to hold hands; holding hands via proxy, etc. etc.?

and you know how both Endeavor and All Might have each done their own version of the victory pose that Kacchan is referring to here? with each one using a different hand?

so you see, I was thinking that it might be nice. might be a little poetic and all that. if at the end of the fight, Deku and Kacchan did, in fact, hold hands. and then did the victory pose together. and it became like their iconic hero moment. them standing there together. having accomplished their goal and defeated TomurAFO through teamwork. realizing their shared childhood dream. and sharing that moment of triumph with each other and with the world, ushering in a new era of heroes

anyway yeah. I was thinking that might be a pretty good ending. but it looks like Kacchan maybe really is about to pass out here now, lol, so maybe not? anyways time to finally scroll down

oh hey it’s a random pre-battle flashback mysteriously taking place in Troy “a few days before the battle” even though I thought they only moved into that place the night before the fight

I love how Katsuki immediately narrows his eyes (I assume. we can’t see for sure but that’s the vibe I get) at Jeanist and has to resist the urge to call the police on him for that pun

so Hadou’s wondering what Jeanist is talking about because they already evacuated the civilians, so what else are they trying to protect. and Edgeshot is all, “well obviously we’ve gotta protect everyone’s future,” which is a nice... rearshadowing?? for him saving Katsuki’s life later on lol

and now Mirko is all “get to the fucking point already.” which, same

so Jeanist says that Tomura is an even bigger problem than AFO, because at least AFO doesn’t want to murder everyone on the entire planet. and he concludes with “he’ll probably try to touch the ground and use his quirk.” which is a conclusion that I have to say wasn’t really worth two pages of flashback buildup for, considering that we all figured that out years ago

I’m guessing this is all just some sort of awkward transition back to Deku’s fight now lol

and now we’re getting two pages of exposition on how long it would theoretically take Tomura’s Decay to spread throughout the city, and then the entire country, yikes

damn. talk about stakes

and now finally back to Deku!!

shoutout to everyone who correctly predicted that Deku was once again talking out of his ass when it came to being out of Gearshifts. we all knew. unlimited supply

they’ll never admit it, but you know the other OFA Vestiges secretly resented Shino a tiny bit for being the only one of them to not be gruesomely murdered. bet they all feel guilty for thinking that now

Shino and Banjou also seemed to have this cute little pseudo-rivalry thing going on, so I really feel bad for Banjou now. :/ he looks so horrified in that bottom right panel

gotta admit, I did not see this coming in the slightest. OFA has been this immutable “I do what I want!” quirk for so long that I never thought Tomura or AFO would actually succeed in stealing it, even partially. that shook me to my core

BUT, it’s also really exciting to me because it’s going to make this battle much more interesting if Deku can’t use his get out of jail free card. shit just got way more real and I’m here for it

lastly, so! let me tell you guys my prediction. I still can’t see Tomura being the final villain lol. I just can’t. it feels too anticlimactic. if I’m wrong, I’m wrong, and I’ve certainly botched MANY predictions in the past, but I have not yet learned my lesson from any of it and I will not apologize lol

so here’s what I think. Deku and Tomura battle it out for the next chapter or two, and Tomura snatches up more of Deku’s quirks one by one. we see all of the Vestiges disappearing and the mood gets more and more desperate. eventually we’re down to just Kudou and Yoichi. Deku is panicking, but for some reason Kudou seems even MORE panicked

Kudou/Gearshift eventually gets stolen too, and it looks like this might finally be it for Deku (I have no idea how he’d stop Tomura from Decaying the ground once Blackwhip gets stolen, btw, but maybe Katsuki or someone else interferes in desperation towards the end). but just when it looks like Tomura is finally going to take the last piece of OFA, Deku’s vibes suddenly do a 180, stopping Tomura in his tracks

cut to the OFA Moon Gorgeous Meditation Realm, where Deku and Yoichi are staring at the door -- yes, that door -- in shock. because it’s finally been opened (now that the other Vestiges are no longer there to keep it at bay). and just like that, enter AFO, for the THIRD FUCKING TIME :D :D

tl;dr, HERE’S HOW HORCRUX!DEKU CAN STILL HAPPEN!!! wait where are you all going. wait come back

anyway so wow that was a really bizarre chapter that I truly thoroughly enjoyed, which should probably be a bit concerning. on to the next two week break! (for anyone who’s not aware, Shounen Jump will be on break next week, so yeah.) I’m on chapter 391 now. so close but still so far. the end of the year has gone by too damn fast tbh

I love the buildup towards this part. Malleus was written as if he was intimated by Rollo during the fight, but then his mask of being "weak" falls off and its actually revealed that he is not intimidated by Rollo at all, in fact the way this scene's vibes gives off??? He was looking down at him, with his 'plans' and his stupid delusion about antagonizing him.

I love when TWST reminds us that Malleus is a king. ✨✨

He hides off this personality that he truly believes he's too superior than anything, that he's undefeatable.

Not gonna lie y'all, I think Malleus won't be defeated by the flowers, he emphasized this from the start, that he's fighting Rollo because the flowers will be problematic for Briar Valley, but not him yk.

Plus, this is Meleanor's kid😂 Mother didn't birth a weak dragon‼️

I think this part also mirrors in Book 7 where the Silver Owls was convinced they caught Meleanor but she just laughed at them and declared that they'll decimate every human in her sight for being insulting as to think they can ravage her land and defeat her lol.

Also the fact that Henry basically narrates her as if she's the villain of humanity by calling her a witch... It parallels to Rollo seeing Malleus (even though he didn't do anything) as the root of all evil yk.

Also possible theory for the Kind Bellringer and the Just Judge??? We all know that their story is written more peaceful here than the Disney movie.

But one thing that's strange is that No one knows what the Bellringer was fighting for even if he's considered a hero of Fleur City-- at the same time, we don't know how Rollo even got the flowers (aside from studying ancient flora)--- Basically, Fleur City lore has many plotholes and no one knows what it is and why is that-- Its like Briar Valley history...

We know the crimson flowers are a reference to the scene where Quasimodo released lava around the Notre Dame to prevent Frollo from entering....

What if in Fleur City as well,,,, Quasimodo (as the Kind Bellringer here) rebelled as well against the Just Judge (Frollo) as well?? But the Just Judge is instead credited as "the saviour of Fleur City" because the evidence of the Bellringer acrually being the saviour is burned up or smth, thats why Fleur City's history has many gaps in them...

Also the Just Judge being the actual villain in the history but remembered as a hero now because of misinformation.... It matches Rollo's punishment that he'll forever be complimented by the actions he didn't do, and its up to his guilt whether he can stand living as a fraud who actually harmed the same people thats highly regarding him rn.

Also i feel like this event was made for Idia instead, it felt like Idia was the main character imo...

I just feel like the event couldve given their dynamic more light because its so intriguing that they went to similar trauma but have different outcomes...

In a way Rollo is what Idia wouldve become if he continued tormenting himself for Ortho's death alone...

He said to Rollo that "is removing magic what your brother wouldve wish?" I think thats very telling that even if its tragic that Robot Ortho's creation was fuelled by Idia's grief and defiance that Ortho is forever gone, it was suitable for Idia's pain to remind himself that Ortho wouldve wished he goes on... as is very telling of Book 6's ending about Ortho's refusal on Idia's suicide by going with him on the Underworld...

also because I think Rollo would need some person like Idia whos blunt for regular reality checks just so he wouldn't blinded by his delusion again and ransack the world 😭😭

oh hey!! great selection of characters. Makes me really happy you wanting to know more about them! I love them a lot, but Sir Valentine more, as Zerion's personality and setting is pretty nebulous still. info about them both under read more!

Zerion is some sort of cartoony super villain, heavily inspired in the night of the bald mountain monster interpretation from Fantasia(disney)

I think he's a very strong dark mage or something. Right now I have him reduced to a joke. A cartoony villain living his slice of life, but always awaiting action, the smallest spark chaos, to join in, in a world where nothing ever happens. He has his sidekick, Vampina (I think that was her name). A vampire chick who lives in the moment and is Zerion's servant, as long as he provides him with some blood every now and then

she almost never pulls off that relaxed smile from her face, her brain usually has no thoughts more than "can i eath this?" "I can eat this" Both of them are pretty evil. I remember once i tried to sketch out a first chapter, where they had a visit of income tax department agents, coming to remind Zerion he hadn't paid his taxes, and both Zerion and Vampina made a whole intricate plan on how to get rid of them and torture them, to show the government they're not to be fucked with. Though, all their scare tactics were just confusing, failed magic tricks for the men, now tied to apparent non functioning electric chairs, looking at each other through their sunglasses, stoic faces, while confused to what Zerion is yapping about in his villain monologue, while Vampina eats a stale bread in the BG. ---------------------------------------------------------

I don't have much about Sir Valentine either, but I certainly have drawn him more. For now, His name is Sir Cannon Valentine, but we'll get to that in a bit.

This MAN, is some warrior who died in his armor but is back by some whack magic, and he's impatient, easily irritated, screams instead of talking, and I've always imagined having him a strong accent. He's here to fight and go headfirst into everything bc he really cannot die.

As of 2024, Sir Valentine is Sir Cannon Valentine (you can still call him the first version), BECAUSE, besides him being reborn and inmortal, angry and ready to fucking obliterate anything in his way, now his body works as a canonball

He went through my manic episode of redesigning many of my characters, after getting a taste of Pizza tower's cartoony characters, and became this. Much more functional, easily drawn, flowy. he just works, i can animate him in a snap of fingers. Still consistenly working to improve his design even more.

I will probs change the story, but this guy is resucitated as a last resort for a war between kingdoms, as a mistake, bc they wanted to revive some other guy, but got mistaken and went to his thomb. This guy revived him, after a ritualistic dance and some lightning

and then he is like "oh wait I fucked up", and Valentine is like "TOO LATE BITCH I'M FREE!!" and blasts away from him, as a cannonball, fueled by his own fire and methane gas from the catacombs he is in lol. This story is very not much constructed, but I love Sir Valentine a lot, and the characters I can surround him with. I see him falling for a bourgeoisie woman, or a princess even, bc all my stories need the romance, I'm nothing without the romance. I am also thinking of including another character of mine, Sayen, as the daughter of this death guy

Sayen previously appeared as a participant in a nsfw comic in my twt alt account lol. I love her and her design very much.

I had an idea for a Twisted Wonderland romance series for the Housewardens. So first of all each character is set in the universe of their respective villain and yk have lore of it.

Lemme tell u about each idea I have:

Riddle Rosehearts- Reader finds themself in the world of Wonderland where they meet Ace and Deuce who have a crazy strict Queen, Riddle. Rather than a bunny who’s late, it’s Grim! He’s late to get food!!

Leona Kingscholar- Leona was outcasted from his family and lives on the other side due to nearly killing his Brother. The reader was an abandoned baby adopted by a lovely lion couple also so is an outcast in their own way but still accepted. As Reader befriends the king (Leona’s Brother forgot his name too lazy to google) being a caretaker of Cheka with Jack. One day the reader spots Ruggie stealing some food and follows to the other side.

Azul Ashengrotto- Had turned the sea kings daughter into sea foam for not getting true loves kiss, so the sea king gave him the same fate. Azul now unable to speak and fully human has to find true love. Luckily the Reader works for the palace and finds him, taking care of him.

Jamil Viper- The reader falls for Jamil at first sight when he saved them from guards when they stole. As they tried to pursue Jamil, Jamil was planning to take down Sultan Kalim with mind control, so he could become the king.

Vil Schoenheit- After being found in a cave with Grim by Neige and the seven dwarves, the reader eventually finds out this new world where they’ve never been and hardly remember anything and would eventually meet the evil queen, Vil.

Idia Shroud- A character based off Hercules has swooned the reader, to which Idia kidnaps the reader to mess with the guy and distract him from his goal of taking down the phantoms. Eventually the reader and Idia get along and he lets her go because he realizes it’s wrong, only for the reader to come back.

Malleus Draconia- This one is kinda hard to make lol, but anyways Malleus cursed the king and queen neighboring Briar Valley for not inviting them to where their first child will prick their finger on a spindle hitting their (insert whatever birthday u want) birthday. Lilia felt awful and offered to hide the baby from the palace for the meantime until their (insert the next year of cursed birthday), the baby is of course the reader and lives together with Silver as siblings until Malleus finds the reader and doesn’t know he cursed them.

Not full ideas but yeah there u go i’m too lazy to do it rn tho since i’ll have to rewatch and reread sm…

Alright but hear me out.

In the original sa2. The emeralds were vital for Gerald's plan, they needed them for the giant laser or whatever. And they were "easy" enough to get in the game world were they are usually scattered across the world.

But in the movie universe they are all together as the M.E. guarded by Team Sonic, and while Shadow is a powerhouse and he'll probably have some help idk if they would just go attack them like that, at least not when there's really nothing stopping say, Sonic, from just using the powers of the emeralds to go super and kick their asses (I don't think sonic would do that immediately but if I was a villain I wouldn't risk it).

So what if they have to be sneaky about it, like oh I don't know, maybe using the fact that they have a nubian on their side...one with speed that would surely spark Sonic's curiosity, one that just happens to be the same species as him, the one other hedgehog he has ever met, maybe said hedgehog arranges an "accidental" meeting with Sonic, with the intention to get closer to him, either to get his trust and access to the ME or to capture him and use him as a bargaining chip, to make the rest give it up to save Sonic.

Or at least, that was the plan. Because maybe, the races,games and random competitions, start to be a little fun, maybe the way Sonic can't stop talking becomes a little less annoying a a little more endearing, maybe, as he is dragged around town, blue arm around his shoulders, he finds that maybe vengeance isn't the only thing in his mind.

(Then something happens that reminds him of how terrible people can be and he betrays Sonic who, at some point during the breakup arc, will call out Shadow for been a traitor. A liar. A faker, if you will.)

(Inspired by me randomly remembering this one fic I read AGES ago where shadow decides to befriend sonic in order to betray him. It was really good but I always forget the name lol)

Oh I definitely sense a betrayal or a hint of a change of heart in Shadow or even Sonic at some point. Like for Shadow, “why does the doctor think this hedgehog is the root of all evil/the only reason why the doctor wants to destroy the world. He literally almost cried when he tripped on a rock. I can’t even make him worse cause he’s so stupid.” And for Sonic, “why is this guy even working with Eggman??? Dude doesn’t even know how to eat a chili dog. OR EVEN KNOW WHAT A CHILI DOG IS!! It’s like he was just born yesterday! You know what, I can fix him.”

And as for betrayal, I wrote something up for a past ask about my betrayal idea scenario: Sonic goes on his own and returns back to his home for safety and Shadow follows him there. They meet but don’t fight, just talk. Sonic shows him around town and talks about how he grew up alone and without a proper home (also showing him his old hobbit hole), and how when he met Tom, all of that changed. Tom, Maddie and Green Hill accepted him and his brothers. “It became my home, and it can be yours too.” Sonic shows Shadow his house and introduces him to Ollie (that’ll be so cute). They have a bonding moment but all that gets interrupted by Stone’s drones since he can track where Shadow is. Sonic comes to realize it was a trap, but Shadow never intended it.

Was it one of the other SWKs XD ? Either them or Hunstman.

But how would the others (fam and dimensional) react to discovering this particular baby is the reincarnation of the demon that was really close to destroying the world and remaking it in her image? Like, the double take has to be legendary.

Oh it was def Huntsman who made the "beer belly" comment. He has no filter. SWK was the one who punched him, cus of shared hormones with Mac. Then the other spiders smack Huntsy on the back of the head for good measure. Sandy has to physically lift his mans out of there before they try returning him to Diyu with the receipt. Huntsman apologized via hand-woven silk baby blankets.

Whilst the parents knew from the beginning that LBD has reincarnated into their daughter (they were there obs), most of the fam hear about "Yuebei = Reincarnated LBD" from gossip or hearsay. Also the Mayor equally has no filter - he walks straight up to Macaque with an armful of baby shower gifts and waves at his stomach like; "Hello, my lady! Enjoying your new accommodations?". The friends and fam present are like "Lol what?" and SWK and Mac just decide to spill the beans.

The adults are initally freaked out ("So are we talking... fresh slate? Or is she gonna come out with the creepy whispering and bone mechs?"), but once it becomes clear that Yuebei won't have the memories or mind of her previous incarnation, the adults all sigh and just chalk it up to weird reincarnation nonsense. Pigsy expresses how he feels sorry for the kid, as he too reincarnated from a jerk (Zhu Bajie).

The kids freak out a little more. You know already how badly MK and Bai He takes the situation. Nezha ends up being the voice of reason; pointing out tha he himself is a demonic reincarnation and he can't remember squat about who his soul used to inhabit. It takes the kids a lot longer to be cool with the "Baby sister might be the Devil" situation.

As for the Wukongverse? It's a mixed bag. Under read more for spoilers

LMK Shadowpeach: *explaining what happened when they went to Diyu to sort out unrelated undead stuff* LMK!Mac: "So yeah, our unborn daughter is the reincarnation of the Bone Demon that tried to destroy all of the Mortal Realm and remake it in her image." Reborn!SWK: "I pray that your enemy will be born knowing that they will be loved in this lifetime." LMK!Mac, tearing up: "Aww... thats actually really sweet of you to say-" 2000sCartoon!SWK, interupting: "Because if they turn out to be evil, we wont hesistate to bury them!" :3 LMK!Shadowpeach: *hormonal crying. Either way it's gonna be hard for her to be a villain when she can't even stay awake for more that two hours." I see you sometimes reblog some stuff about TMNT 2k3, which was my real first introduction to the franchise, and I'm always down to see people talk about it, SO who is your favorite character/turtle from the series, what is your favorite arc/episode, and how do you think the 2k3 boys would react to your Rise separated AU and vice versa? 👀

Donnie all the way. Pretty much every other iteration of TMNT besides Rise, Donnie is my top pick—hands down, no contest, always (I mean, Rise Donnie is still my fav but it’s a closer race between all four of them than usual lol).

And I love the Drako arc cause it’s got my fav episode SAINW and we meet Usagi! Also I love the Monster Donnie eps. Even though he’s hardly in those, it really shows how much his bros love him and what they’re willing to do to get him back. I do have to say with 2003 tmnt it’s been like years so I don’t remember as much as I’d like but I’m actually rewatching it now and the theme song has been recycling in my head for the last three days lol.

Also I’ve def got some 2003 Easter eggs in my Sep!AU, and I’m always looking for places I can add more!

Also I want Bishop to make a Sep!AU appearance. 2003 Bishop was the best villain! I did not like what they did to him in the 2012 ver. I want evil bastard man!

And I’m sure at some point I’ll have the 2003 boys show up in some goofy Sep!au comic. I have plans for the 2012 boys to meet the AU gang but I’ll have to think about anything further than that and get back to ya!

helloo was gonna ask about vox's power and purpose. i wonder what's on your mind since vox's best power was to control a large community in origin. how bro gonna protect the hotel by watching around? (just remembered he owns val and vel's souls so hb style? lol) does he even have the overlord bff to help fighting eve? or will he?

being mysterious and wanting to see people suffer doesn't sound like him. (and al as vox is actually scary like is he still a sadistic? hell cant handle all of that.) in one sentence, wanted to hear your plans about ugly ass tv man

Ok because Alastor and Vox swap role in this AU and HH never show us both of thei real purposes so we will have to be honest here, we didn't have a plan for what he wants now. Yes, he is under a contract like Al. Yes, he wants to break free but I think what Vox wants will be more than that because in the end, he is still a real greedy piece of shit.

Hard for us to explain everything when in SS1, we don't get to know much about both him and Al but only their surface personalities. But we want to build a deeper personality for Vox than just being a cringy villain that simply wants more power. He is 50s and has already been in Hell for more than 100 years, we want him to be a bit more mature and knows what he wants, but not even the other Vees know about his plan. Like when he's in front of everyone in the hotel, he shows his business side, combining with some of his real personality, showing Emily that he "cares" and wants to help.

But in reality, Vel and Val can predict that Vox has smt big planned in his mind because if Vox really wanted to help, he would have helped the hotel become famous but instead he keeps the hotel's reputation low and did shitty commercials...

Well, for Vox, he didn't act mysterious but I think the interesting thing about him is that he still shows the hotel more of his true personality. People will still hear him screaming "FUCK YOU ALASTOR!!!" in his tower and start asking "This is like the fifth time this week.", seeing him tired when he has to worked too much, knowing about his little duet with Alastor causing Lute to ask Emily again, "You sure this is the guy who can help us with the hotel?"...

Basically, he didn't act like Alastor and show that he has it all and that he's perfect or something like that. People in the hotel know about his loser side, plus he joins in more of the hotel's activities than Al in the original series even if he doesn't want to. This makes people let their guard down and rarely ask about his real motivation through time. For Alastor, people can tell he is hiding something because he act mysterious, he is evil and can't be trusted but with Vox, the more the season went on, the more they questioned is this the real him or not? He may not care about seeing people suffer or not but we think he sure wants more than just power. This is the Vox we want to build, we guess so?

About his power, yes he can still hypnotizes people and use that on the intruders so they kill each other and themselves, he can even upgrade the hotel so when intruders come, a hologram shield will turn on and weapons can come out anywhere and kill them all.

He didn't have any bff, and only 2 can be considered as his besties. He fooled them and took control of their souls. His relationship with other overlords either on neutral terms or on bad terms. Still, he can still find an army just not the cannibals like in the main series from asking help from another overlord, the one that we think will likely to have had some business deal here and there with him in the past, likely to buy and care about his products - Zeezi.

I guess that's all that we have in our head for Vox for now. We may change some or add more for him in the future. But I guess we're also excited to imagine his interaction with the hotel members.

What was racist and sexist in borderlands 3? I played it once so long ago and never finished so I can barely recall what happened in that game. I have no plans to go back to it either but I really would like a refresher on this :) the only thing I can remember is the bs they pulled with Aurelia

ive answered this a couple of times before and ill link my answers below but the whole Katagawa jr/Promethea arc is rooted in racist stereotypes, Aurelia being completely re-written into a villain for no reason (yes even the writers have stated they have no idea why shes evil now lmao), and then the clusterfuck of a mess that was guns love and tentacles all just makes the game uncomfortable.

Also, many people forget Balex's entire character which is...?? i hate my ex girlfriend??? like i genuinely do not see why he hates her so much lmfao other than for breaking up with him. he's a type-a incel character that is supposed to be 'funny' to the audience and others and its just violently uncomfortable. Aurelia again comes up here where she suddenly calls the players 'whores' for no reason?? like she has a point in tps where she refuses to curse at the robot but for some reason every other word that leaves her mouth is 'whore' ?? That isn't even getting into the fact vaughn has a girlfriend he got from rigging a game show -> said woman also has no speaking lines and only ever screams gibberish lmao

did you have any scrapped ideas for Dr69 like scrapped characters and stuff?

Man it took me a while to remember all the scrapped stuff for DR69 but I think I have a good list of things.

First, there are actually a few scrapped characters that never made it into DR69's cast.

The most interesting scrapped character in my opinion would have to be Hat Kid (a hat in time). She was in fact meant to be the protagonist! However, since they canonically don't speak (as in a silent protagonist) I didn't know if it was possible to even use them (especially for trials) so she was replaced with silly lovely Luigi

I had also planned to add Dr. Robotnik/Eggman (sonic), Marie (splatoon) and Isabelle (animal crossing) but only decided against it as I knew next to nothing about each game's respective lore (esp sonic which I thought fans would get mad at me for lol)

Additionally, Greg Heffley (diary of a wimpy kid) was going to be a character, a potential killer at that, but was scrapped due to me being unsure how to really display him in the fic. After all, his only two versions are a flat drawing and his depiction in the films (and at the time I was iffy on using live action characters, you can see that has changed hehe)

Matt Major (parappa anime) and Cricket (warioware) were both going to be added as I really liked those two at the time. However they were both rejected as I thought they were too obscure (and Cricket was replaced with Ashley as I thought she was more well known being in smash, generally the most popular character from warioware, and since I liked her as well). Of course lucky Matt made in into UDG69 although we know the current fate of that fic (rip) Next, here's some scrapped story/scene ideas that never made it into DR69:

Originally, I had actually planned Mario to be revealed more villainous when exposed as the ch1 killer. Yeah, the whole "Mario is evil" shebang where he actually only cared about himself and murdered just to get out, and Luigi having to deal with the revelation his brother was a terrible person the entire time. I'm don't remember 100% why I changed it, but I'm kinda glad I did. I feel like Luigi has more sympathetic motivation with Mario remaining a genuinely good person up until the end.

In chapter 4, there was going to be a scene where Luigi would stumble upon Fluttershy and Ayano having tea together in the dining hall. It was meant to be "the only two currently surviving girls having a nice moment together" but I think I never went through with it due to pacing and the uncertainty on if it was worth having the scene at all.

In chapter 5, Brian was actually supposed to show the first chapter of his book to Luigi. However, this never happened due to me... never actually figuring out what exactly he wrote. Like, his whole book writing was to do more with his escapism, especially as the killing game went on, more than the content of whatever he was writing. Also, I could never find the right moment to add it in as Brian was always in a sour mood in context. You could theorise what he wrote if you'd like, or even interpret as him never writing anything at all until he wrote that letter to Parappa.

Another chapter 5 thing was a scene where Luigi would stumble upon Brian and Parappa having a heartfelt conversation. This idea came to me, like, way early to me because I had always intended for the two dogs to interact at some point. It's implied they did spend time together during chapter 5, but you never really see it too often through Luigi. I also never added it due to it not really fitting anywhere properly.

This came to me just now while writing this but I think I wanted to do a bonus mode for DR69 but never did. I'm only mentioning it as it was going to involve Luigi finally having a FTE with Mr. Krabs. I didn't plan what they would talk about, but I assume Mr. Krabs would talk about his restaurant (to reflect why he was so insistent in creating a crew) and some spongebob lore lol

Thoughts on Book 9, halfway point

Okay so im in Book 9, right? End of Phase 1 of Skulduggery Pleasant.

And I remember, back when I read it as it came out, that I hated how it ended, how everything was so fixed on Darquesse, that I was relieved that she was finally gone from the story (lol) and that I went into Phase 2 weirdly exhausted. Book 9 actually made me abandon SP until something like Book 12 was out?

Now, according to my Kindle, Ive read 94% of Phase 1. Im somewhere around Chapter 56 of Book 9, so Im about halfway through.

And I have to say.

Its such a full book? So much happens? And its so all over the place? Okay we are here now, and now we are here. Brides of the Blood Tears, other dimension, back again, Darquesse, Mirror Image revival, future perspective telling us its all gonna be okay, and and and.

I think Im overwhelmed by this book. Last Stand of Dead Men was utterly enjoyable. But it felt like the book had purpose. Book 9 on the other hand feels like its desperately trying to write itself out of the godhood of problems it created. It wants to do justice to everything Darquesse was built up to be and yet still defeat her.

The problem is that the strategies are simply not very clever and knowing in which direction its going also makes so much of it appear cheap because it wasnt really relevant later?

Darquesse is both built up to be non human and yet appeals to humanity. And I suppose theres a point made there but its... shes just not fun? I think she never was as a villain. Her whole speech about how changing energies is not killing someone and then through like five minutes of group time she remembers "oh fuck, yeah nope that was wrong". Its so weird. Its so jarring. The character feels inconsistent in their own darn book.

Its not that its badly written. Tanith returning is great. Billy Ray is such an utterly human figure in this one and I genuinely feel bad for him (as he evidently truly loved Tanith as a Remnant). Skulduggerys treatment of the "other" Nefarian Serpine shows so much character growth. China is more and more actually an involved character. And a few others I cant remember.

I just.

I dont know. Its a weird feeling because many of the books I have read over the last dozen weeks were also in my head as "not actually that good storywise but well written" and some of that has turned out wrong! I always enjoyed reading them but some stories are much better than I remember.

But I think I arrived at this point in which the story is too large for the books. I care about the characters. About the world. But I dont know if I care about the stakes anymore. I dont know if Darquesse matters to me anymore. What does she even say about humanity? What does she reflect? That we can grow? That we are inherently evil? These are all things better illustrated by other characters.

Is it supposed to be a play on the Phase 2 reveal of Valkyrie being actually a Faceless One? Is Darquesse a shard of said ungodly evil? If so, wouldnt we have benefitted from said reveal in the Phase of its relevancy? Why is it so late?

I think SP sometimes suffers from the Star Wars "Skywalker" symptom of everything being connected at all times.

I dont know. This is weird. I still have 6% and around 50 chapters to go but Im unsure now. I stand before the mirror of literary interest and wonder if there is anything substantial to be seen.

And I know I'll enjoy the book. Its well written. I love Landy.

But having read them all in a row in such close succesion makes me realise how somewhat badly planned they are and how many massive plotholes there often exist.

Maybe the story got too big. I dont if i'll be exhausted. But Im a little worried.

Eggman is a villain. Remember when Eggman dominating the world was a thing in Sonic Forces? Pretty sure many suffered for that. He's really a menace like he had Sonic as a prisioner and didn't bother to unalive him IN THAT MOMENT just because he enjoyed more the idea of making others lose hope via him? Or the time he didn't care that Infinite dissapeared and instead get full mecha not giving a damn about his "indestructible invention". I don't think he even saw Infinite as nothing more than a weapon this is why I believe he was actually a sentimental creature with his memory completely erased, similar to Surge and Kit but this is more of a headcanon than a fact lol. Whatever the true is this only shows what you have said earlier about Eggman, that all his inventions are disposable no matter what

To know this isn't the worst he has done is something that shouldn't be ignored lol

YEAH Forces got it so right... It got absolutely everything right about Eggman and its only flaw is for such an important and significant role to the plot. He deserved way more screentime to see the full extent of his actions and plan on screen and spotlight in his temporary glorious victory and progress in taking over- but his characterization was perfect.

Forces is an example that Eggman is smart and capable and despite his massive ego, he has very real reasons to be as proud and confident as he is with his real 300 IQ genius and skills. It also shows that he has a reason to be so determined to win because he CAN in fact accomplish his goals, he just can't keep it as long as Sonic is around but it counts.

But I also like how he kept Sonic alive and imprisoned for six months so he could finish and show off his completed empire to him and break his last bit of hope and fully prove his victory and superiority over him before "banishing him" (definitely killing him lol) because it would've been much more satisfying to him than just killing him immediately.

Also while only present in English and people have their different opinions, I like the idea Sonic was tortured and that it's said to be Eggman specifically and not Infinite. I'd like to believe he would be delighted to toy with him in a few ways once he gets his hands on him, primarily psychologically. Love to imagine him having his fun with him.

He only saw Infinite as a tool and a weapon he'd use up for all he's worth and drop the moment he no longer needed him because he doesn't share, or failed him before. Everyone has always been vessels for Eggman to manipulate and use for selfish gain and later discard like they're nothing, while others are enemies and obstacles to be destroyed, and everyone else is so worthless and insignificant to him that all they should be are mindless slaves to the empire. Everything is his to use and destroy as he pleases.

I adore how Infinite is yet another example, even despite his loyalty to him the whole time. It never makes Eggman see them as anything more, doesn't make them any more worthy, and still don't deserve a fraction of his power in ruling the world in the end because everyone and everything is beneath him and disposable no matter what.

That's a cool idea for Infinite! What also works is him being heavily manipulated by Eggman after discovering their shared desires through the phantom ruby, and maybe the Jackal Squad's doom and his hatred to Shadow was yet another way to take his devotion to the empire further and allow him to use the phantom ruby on him.

And even despite his lack of genuine long term respect and value of any of his lackeys and how they'll always be temporary and worth nothing more than what they can do for him no matter how badly they get hurt is bad enough, it is indeed not even the worst thing he's done and that's why he's a magnificent evil bastard through and through! 💜🥰

In my opinion, I always think it would be good when it comes to the myth of Persephone and Hades to also not villify Demeter. You could make an overprotective mother, but also show that Persephone still loves. And again make Hades flawed but eventually learns his lesson. Also you can make Zeus as much as an asshole as you like. But Disney's Zeus is off limits for that but he's more like an insenstive jerk at times.

Absolutely! That’s what I tried to do with ‘Til Death. I didn’t want to make Demeter the villains because she really isn’t a villain. She loves all of her children equally, but unintentionally shows favoritism towards Persephone. She’s just an overprotective mom that wants what’s best for her daughter and Persephone knows this, but she struggles to communicate with her mother that what she (Demeter) thinks is right for her (Persephone) is different from what is actually right for her. She loves, honors, and respects her mother and is worried she’ll lose all of that if she says anything that seems “disrespectful” (even though sharing your feelings isn’t disrespectful).

I know there’s one Disney fanfic I read in AO3 where they made Demeter sorta the “villain” by secretly manipulating Persephone so she isn’t able to interact with Hades and I do think that’s a clever idea, but I agree with you that I don’t think Demeter should be vilified. Demeter seems like a gentle goddess who can be stern and strict and even scary when she needs to be, but all in all, she’s kind and caring and wouldn’t go as far as manipulating her own daughter in order to keep her from seeing her lover. She’s overprotective, but she’s not that overprotective, y’know?

And yeah, Hades is certainly a “bad guy”, but he does learn his lesson most of the time (most being the operative word lol) when his plans fail and he remembers not to go through with that particular plan next time he tries something sinister and evil lol. Hades is a villain, but he’s not like all the other disney villains. He has a little bit of decency and mercy underneath all that evil lol (of course, I always bring up the baby Hercules thing because that was pretty cruel, but he obviously learned his lesson from that). Also it’s hinted in a lot of other Disney media that Hades wasn’t always a bad guy he was just treated like a bad guy and sorta became what they painted him as after a while. But yeah, he does usually learn his lesson when it comes to his evil deeds and whatnot.

Oh and yes Disney Zeus is certainly not a villain (unlikes the og Zeus who was totally the worst lol), but he is indeed an insensitive jerk who can be a little selfish at times. He gets so caught up on being the king of the god that he doesn’t notice things (like the fact that his little brother hates him and was literally planning to overthrow him for 18 and was also the reason why his son became a demigod and had to be raised on earth by mortals). But I agree that Zeus isn’t a cruel lr evil god. He makes poor decisions and he can be insensitive when it comes to others’ emotions, but he’s not a villain.

Engage 9 - 11

Spoilers and thoughts below the cut. Pretty big spoilers for the story this time.

You know it's a good sign when I'm already making plans for the next playthrough. I still want to finish Three Hopes, but Engage is so much fun to play, and there's already so many things I want to do differently to optimize more.

Alcryst and Celine's C support was pretty deep for a C support. They bonded over worrying about their older brothers dying.

Chloe is such a hopeless romantic.

I sense Louis and Chloe may have a romantic leaning support. She understands his ways and he finds her interesting. Their hobbies overlap. He said some stuff that could easily sway romantic is anyone but Louis was saying it . . .

Alfred is so fucking precious, omg. It's so funny remembering people were suspicious of him after his official art was released. Like, I doubt it would even occur to this guy to do something shady or devious. His and Yukana's support started pretty good.

One of my favorite things about Alear is that she's not stupid. Sure, the MC is very basic and generically heroic, but isn't annoying either. Doesn't rush into battle. Isn't irritatingly naïve, etc . . . It's nice.

I'd really like to know more about why Brodia keeps invading the mage country. They said some generic stuff about the mages wanting to wake the fell dragon up, but I hope there's more too it than that.

Oh, shocking, the Brodian king dies (is dying, got shot by that baddie). I'm so surprised. Parents. Dying in my Fire Emblem?

I have a feeling Ivy will be recruitable soon. All her retainers felt guilt fighting the divine dragon, and now her dad left her here to just die. She also lost her ring to us, so that's probably lowered her status on the enemy side too. She also offered her allies a chance to retreat. Definitely doesn't seem evil.

Found Citrinne and Diamant's support interesting. Diamant says he doesn't plan on waging wars when he's king. He acknowledges that it's good for his nobles because it makes them rich, but otherwise is something he wants to avoid. Citrinne supports this and seems to have some kind of diplomatic/messenger role in Brodia.

One of Alfred's talents is making flower garlands 😊. Pretty sure I'm picking him for my S-Support. He's just too adorable, plus I think he and Alear work. Right away he offered friendship and help, and they just have compatible personalities.

Forget Alfred being Dimitri's child, Dimitri is Alfred and Diamant's child. Like he is a bit like both of them smashed together.

Ok, I'm worried. Marth told me I need to stock up on supplies before ch 10 started. This reeks of back-to-back chapters.

I want Rosado on my team so bad already. And Hortensia is not annoying me anymore. She seems honestly worried about Ivy and seems to have no idea what her father is up too.

The artwork for all the places in this game are gorgeous.

Another parent bites the dust. The Brodian king got corrupted. I feel bad for the two brothers.

I made Alcryst attack his own dad. The dialogue made me feel so guilty. It made me feel much worse than Diamant's, until his second half. Alcryst is really growing me as a character too.

Glad the good guys actually tried to kill the villain even though he begged for mercy. That mysterious hooded person showed up (bet it's that girl Alear keeps talking too who had chains on her legs). Also bet it's brainwashing thing. Edit: At least 1/2 guesses right. Ok, probably 2/2 right since this version has never spoken to Alear.

Fell dragon about to eat the king lamo. Literally ate him in a cut scene lol.

Ok, so the 4 wolves are 3 unhinged people and the old guy, who is either a Camus or recruitable later.

Oh. Shit. We just lost the rings. Honestly, I'm more upset seeing all my old protagonists getting turned evil against their will than losing them in gameplay. To be honest, I didn't use them THAT much. It hurts way worse seeing red Marth, Sigurd, Celica, Micaiah, Roy, and Lief.

Losing the Time Crystal. THAT hurts like shit.

Our team took a major L. Honestly, good. 3H's storyline blows this one out of the water, but part of the issue with it was that Edelgard always got her ass kicked except in CF where you just romped over everyone as easily as everyone railroaded over her.

I'm really regretting bringing Citrine and Amber right about now. They're dead weight compared to everyone else who more or less can handle themselves with Alfred, Celine, and Yukana being neigh unkillable at this point.

Fuck yeah! Ivy is here to help me out. And her retainers.

She brought rings. She brought the time turning thingy. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Thank GOD. It's annoying as fuck to reset an entire chapter over a misclick or something and I can't ever let anyone die. I literally think I allowed one person to die the entire time I've played Fire Emblem lol, and this was before turnback was ever a thing too. Zelkov is my new favorite for this. I could kiss him.

Ah!!!! Lyn. And Lucina 😭😭😭😭😭 My girls. 😭😭😭 Lamo, Alear confused Lucina for Marth.

Ok, that chapter was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I stopped after ch 10 yesterday and was wondering about 11, but not too bad. So far, the difficulty balance in this game is pretty good.

Ivy MVP. Happy to have her after that.

Alear, Alcryst, and Diamant all being like "I'm sorry. It's my fault!" Ivy being like "kinda is a bit my fault." Meanwhile Alfred is just awkwardly sitting here being like . . . "I'm the only who didn't make a dumb call here."

I like seeing Alcryst get angry with Ivy. It seems so human. I like the royal characters so far a lot, except Hortensia but she's growing on me. I just wish Celine also got more attention.

This kinda feels a bit like the end of a part 1.
