Wow another annual already! The Flash Vol 2 Annual 2 - The Old Detective Dodge
Tumblr media
So here’s the thing. I was all geared up to review 19, but in one of the issues I own (23 to be exact) there people writing in about how they liked Annual 2. I checked fandom wiki and it says this came out after issue 28, but I have in my hands hard, physical evidence that this just isn’t true. SO without further ado, let’s start the Annual!
Ah yes, starting strong with the infamous Devo shirt. Gotta say, I love how he wears red and yellow so often.
Tumblr media
Hold up. “I’m going so fast, you can’t even see me. That isn’t being naked.” Is THAT his logic? Wow. The implications.
Lol Wally’s dad is just like, “Yeah I tried to kill her, we can all agree on that. But it wasn’t personal!” And then next thing you know he’s accusing Wally of treating his parents like servants when was literally just a kid. :| You tell him, Wally.
Tumblr media
Literally Wally: “Dad that’s fascism.”
Lol don’t get your hopes up that your dad has any moral fiber.
Tumblr media
Rudy I’m shaking my head, but at least we know you’re into aliens now.
Tumblr media
This guy just doesn’t quit, does he?
Tumblr media
But I will say, while I’m not super interested in either of Wally’s parents, I like that they’re really taking a moment to have some interactions with him and his dad. Wally wants to know more, and I guess I do too.
Look at how cute he is with his stack of no anchovy pizzas.
Tumblr media
Then once again Wally is concerned with money. He’s got amazing powers, but he isn’t capitalizing on them. But maybe it’s hard to do when you’ve seen your dad take money making to such a bizarre extreme.
Lmao the brick thieves are just like “dang those guys really aren’t gonna wake up I guess”
Tumblr media
Good lord the entire building got destroyed???
Tumblr media
Oh wait the thieves are UNDER THERE? aslkdjlkjdf And Rudy’s just like “they’re brick thieves, they can die.”
So that gets wrapped up, then Wally goes home and has to listen to his mom give her side of things, which he’s clearly So Enthused about. 😅
Tumblr media
Mary, your obstinance is killing your boy.
Tumblr media
This would make a great out of context panel. 🤣 He’s trying to find his dad’s office, and oops not that door! (this panel is also the reason im tagging as “spicy” which is my slightly nsfw tag)
Tumblr media
This is making me laugh
Tumblr media
And then they find the boyfriend and Wally has to talk his dad from lowkey shooting him.
Wally: I’m with the Titans, I can help. Rudy: And I’m a Manhunter!! Wally: *about to slap someone*
This lady’s kids (?) hate chili dogs, so Wally’s like sounds good to me. Lmao what if this was just the end of the issue.
Tumblr media
Well shit why’s Wally’s mom here all tied up??
Ahhh and he’s doing that bullet time thing where everything’s standing still and he has time to survey and remove all the bullets.
Fond parting words from Rudy.
Tumblr media
And Wally’s reply that of course Rudy didn’t get to hear.
Tumblr media
And of course...
Tumblr media
Final thoughts:
Talk about romps, THIS was a romp. Did Wally get closer to his dad? Did he learn enough to understand why he’s the way he is? Honestly, probably not. But it’s still his dad, as much as his mom is still his mom. They’re both rotten people and make him feel like shit, but at least he got to ask some questions and get some answers (kind of). It was a fun story, and had a lot of funny moments. I feel like things have had quite a bit more humor lately.
And NEXT TIME finally I will review 19!

Joe Burrow x Reader
One of Joes friends flirts with you
Tumblr media
Joe walks into the bathroom, shirtless, and in a pair of black slacks. His muscles ripple across his abdomen, dipping down towards the top of his pants.
He holds up two button down shirts by the hanger. “White or blue?”
“Did you come in here just to show off your body?” You tease making eye contact with him in the mirror as you put on your lipstick.
A smirk crosses his face as his eyes gleam with pride. That’s exactly what he did. “I need your advice. White or blue?”
“White. I like you in the traditional black and white suit.” You smile.
“Blue it is.” He teases and flashes you a wink as he heads out of the bathroom.
You roll your eyes and continue to get ready. Tonight was the NFL Honors party. A ton of players from all different teams across the country would be gathering for the annual awards show to honor the seasons best players. Joe was up for a few awards, you expected he’d win at least one.
He’s comes back into the hotel bathroom a few minutes later looking sexier than ever. You wondered if he had any idea how hot he was.
“How’s it look?” He questioned, looking himself up and down and the mirror.
“Incredible.” You can’t take your eyes off of him. “Can you help me into my dress?” You ask, slipping off your robe and stepping into your long gown.
“You look stunning, baby.” He presses his lips to the back of your neck as he zips the dress.
You and Joe made your way to the party and spent the first hour talking with other players and Wags. There were only a handful of other players from the Bengals, so you took the chance to meet some of Joes competitors.
As Joe wandered off to chat with other players, you took the opportunity to sneak out to the bathroom. As you turned the corner to the quiet hallways, you run into a familiar face. As the only 2 Quarterbacks here tonight, Joe and Patrick Mahomes would be giving a speech together. You’d met Patrick a handful of times before at similar events. You always thought he was handsome, but unlike Joe, he was quite cocky.
“Hey Patrick.” You smiled and the quarterback reached out to embrace you in a hug.
“Hey Mrs. Burrow.” He greeted you. “Good to see you!” As you pulled away from the hug Patrick’s hand lingered over yours.
“Not Mrs. Burrow quite yet.” You laughed, flashing your engagement ring on the other hand. “Good to see you too! Is Brittney here?” You asked.
“No she couldn’t make it. Lots going at home with the kids.” He took a step closer to you, if that was even possible. His hand left yours and found its way to your hip. His fingers lightly danced across your hip bone. “You look beautiful.” He is close enough now that his breath coats your lips. “Joe wouldn’t mind if we caught up for a bit, would he?”
“Has anyone ever been able to tell you no before?” You ask in a whisper.
“Never.”
“Well I guess there’s a first time for everything.”
His forehead crumpled as his face fell into a frown and he blinked down at you. “What?” His hand slips from your hip.
“Enjoy your night.” Your turn to make your way back to the party. As you scan the room your eyes immediately lock with Joes who has just witnessed this whole incident.
He storms over to you and nearly ran over Patrick on his way. Up until this moment, Patrick had been one of Joe’s idols, but he wanted to gouge his eyes at for looking at you like that. Like you could possibly be his when you so clearly belonged to Joe. Hadn’t Patrick even referred to you as ‘Mrs. Burrow’ a moment before?
Patrick’s eyebrows shot up when he noticed Joe approaching.
“Baby, why don’t you go find our table.” Joe places his hand on the small of your back and guides you towards the room.
Joe had two crystal glasses in his hand and forced one towards Patrick. “Hey, Man.” He greeted his competitor. “Before our speech I have one question.”
You could see Patrick’s shoulders visibly fall, thinking he wasn’t going to get in trouble for flirting with you.
“When you touched my fiancé just now, which hand did you use?” Joe asked, his voice full of anger. “Your throwing hand?”
Patrick froze. “What - I -“
“My finance.” Joe took a step closer to Patrick. “Long blonde hair, black dress. The most beautiful woman at the event.” Joe pressed his drink to his lips.
“I - I -“ Patrick’s stuttered response stood no chance against Joe.
“I don’t want to see you near her again. In fact, when we sit down, you better not even look at her.”
Joe turned on his heels and made his way back into the room to find you.
Familiar hands find your shoulders and a kiss is planted on top of your head.
“I’m sorry, baby.” Joe takes a seat at the table next to you. “This will be the last time I agree to work with him.”
“It’s okay, Joey. It’s not your fault.”
“I refuse to work with someone who treats people with disrespect and behaves that way in public. I put him in his place, and if I had the choice, I’d do it all over again. He’s a jackass, and I love you. You’re mine. All mine. Mine. Mine. Mine.” Joe gives you a reassuring smile.
Players begin to take their seats and you both see Patrick making his way to your table.
“I’ll see if we can move tables.” You start to slide your chair out.
Joe grabs your hand to stop you. “It’s fine.”
“Are you sure? You did try to fight him less than ten minutes ago.”
“And I’d do it all over again if I saw someone touch you like that. Let’s make him jealous and rub it in his face.” Joe gives you a smirk and wink.

Merry Christmas
Tumblr media
Summary: It’s the most wonderful time of the year. You and Natasha are off to the annual Stark Christmas Party. Little does the team know that a special surprise awaits them.
Genre: Fluff
Pairings: Natasha x reader, Avengers x reader (platonic).
Word Count: 2.7k
Warnings: None
A/N: This is part 2 to Happy Thanksgiving! I recommend reading it first, but it can be read as a stand-alone story as well. I hope you enjoy!
“Be down in a minute, malyshka!” Natasha called from your bedroom.
You were standing in the kitchen eating peanut butter out of the jar topped with chocolate sauce. A “homemade Reese’s” you dubbed it. Your first pregnancy craving that had Nat popping down to the corner grocery store at 2 am for the dynamic duo of ingredients.
“No worries, love!” Already dressed for Tony’s annual Christmas party at the compound. Clad in a green Sequin-Lace Halter Twist-Neck Jumpsuit, your baby bump beginning to show.
The click of Natasha’s high heels signaled her arrival a few moments later in a sleek long-sleeved red scoop-back midi dress that hugged her in all the right places.
“Wow, Nat. You look beautiful. Red is most definitely your color.”
“So you prefer it over the black,” she smirked as she put on her earrings.
“I didn’t say that now, did I,” with a wink.
“The baby enjoying its homemade Reese’s?” grabbing her clutch.
“Very much! I was thinking,” Putting away the chocolate and peanut butter. “Tomorrow we could make fudge!”
“Ah, because the baby has such a sweet tooth?”
“Yes,” you giggled.
“Well, whatever the baby wants, I suppose,” wrapping her arms around you in a loving embrace before leaning down and kissing your stomach.
“You ready to drop the baby bombshell tonight?” Patting the top of Nat’s head.
“Yes, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous,” sighing as she stood up. These are the same people who freaked out when they found out Clint had a family. How are they going to handle this?”
“Like the amazing aunts and uncles they were meant to be,” grabbing Natasha’s hand. “Plus, I think announcing it with the Christmas crackers is a cute idea.”
“I hope so,” placing a soft kiss against your lips.
“Frankly, I’m more surprised Yelena hasn’t blabbed yet.”
“Oh, that’s because I warned her if she told anyone I would make her run with me every morning at 5 am until the baby is born.”
“Well played,” high-fiving your wife.
“Thank you,” she smiled. “Now come on, let’s go get our holiday cheer on.”
*^~^*
The drive to the compound was even more beautiful during the holidays. A light snow fell as you passed house after house dressed in beautiful Christmas lights. Natasha placed her right hand on the center console. You softly intertwined your fingers with hers and placed a soft kiss to the back of her hand.
You are greeted by a rush of warm air upon entering the compound lobby. Natasha shook the delicate snowflakes out of your hair and off your coat. You both step onto the elevator and are welcomed by the soothing voice of FRIDAY.
“Merry Christmas, ladies. Welcome to the annual Stark Christmas party.”
“Merry Christmas, FRIDAY. How’s the party so far?” You asked as the hum the elevator carried you up to living quarters.
“The party is in full swing. Mr. Stark is currently treating guests to a medley of Christmas carols.
“Of course he is,” you giggled.
“You know, he only plays that baby grand piano when he gets a bit tipsy,” Nat said. “When we got home from our month-long undercover mission in Romania, he celebrated on the jet and then made us all listen to his rendition of Dancing Queen.”
“Aww, and I missed it!” Feigning disappointment.
The elevator dinged and the doors opened to joyous noise and laughter. An abundance of greens, reds, gold, and silver flashing here and there, adding opulence and brightness. Classic poinsettias tied in tradition, and shiny bows and foiled paper glistened under the 12-foot tall Noble Fir Christmas tree, inviting their recipients to sneak one open before the actual day.
“Hey, the Romanoff’s are finally here!” Clint exclaimed as his kids rushed over to both of you.
Nate jumped into your wife’s arms as you hugged Lila and Cooper. It seemed like every time you saw the Barton kids they had grown a bit more. It was thanks to Banner and Cho that you were carrying a child that would be half yours and half Natasha’s. Looking at Clint and Laura’s kids and how they resembled their parents, you couldn’t wait to see what features your little plum would inherit from each of you.
“How’s my little namesake?” Kissing Nathaniel’s cheek. Have you been practicing the punch and kick combinations I taught you?”
“Practicing the what?” Laura asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Oh, nothing,” Natasha smirked as Nate giggled.
“You two look great, I love the green and red thing you’ve got going on,” Clint said.
“Thank you. Lovely Christmas sweater by the way. I especially love Rudolph’s glowing nose.” you pointed.
“Hey, the Barton’s are the cream of the crop when it comes to ugly Christmas sweaters.”
“Clearly,” Nat teased.
“I’ll take your coats,” Cooper offered.
“Why, thank you. What a gentleman,” you winked at Laura as you handed him yours and Natasha’s pea coats.
You scanned the room and noticed Wanda putting the finishing touches on trays of Christmas cookies. You put a hand on Nat’s shoulder and motioned toward the kitchen. She gave you a quick nod as you meandered over to the counter.
“Wanda, Wanda, Wanda… what do we have here?”
“Y/N! It’s so good to see you,” wrapping you in one of her signature hugs that you loved so much. “This is my parents’ Christmas cookie recipe,” she proudly declared. “I convinced Tony and Pepper to let me handle the desserts this year. So, we’ve got cookies, the Viennese torte is in the fridge and the pumpkin pie is cooling.”
“Wow, you have been busy,” you smiled. “Anything I can do to help?”
“Yes, you can take a cookie and go mingle. I’ll be done in a few minutes,” handing you a charming little cookie decorated like Santa. You took a bite and couldn’t believe it. It was the best cookie you had ever tasted.
“Mhmm, Wanda! This is amazing.”
“That is why I will always vouch for homemade over store bought goodies. Now seriously, go mingle,” shooing you away.
You turned back around to see your wife sitting by the fireplace talking to Steve, champagne in hand. As you started to across the room you were intercepted by a festively-dressed Kate and Lucky.
“Y/N! Hey, oh my gosh, I haven’t seen you in so long! How are you?”
“I’m good! I see you and Lucky are enjoying the party,” petting the Golden Retriever.
“Absolutely, say hello to Santa Paws and Mrs. Claus!” Kate exclaimed. Unfortunately, we’ve lost Yelena. She’s our elf,” glancing around the room.
“Wait, Yelena’s dressed as an elf?” Eyes wide. “Oh, that’s fantastic.”
“Yeah, if you see her will you send her our way? We’re supposed to be taking the photo for our holiday card tonight.”
“Nothing would make me happier,” you smirked with a hand on Kate’s shoulder.
You bid the young archer and pooch farewell and rejoined your wife.
“Hey, deka,” Wrapping her arm around your waste.
“Y/N, I was just telling your wife that she needs to find her holiday spirit and come Christmas caroling with us next week,” Steve said.
“Natasha singing? I’m not sure that would be good for community morale,” you joked
“Says the woman who performs one woman tributes to Harry Styles in the shower?” Nat giggled.
“Hey, my rendition of Sign of the Times is highly praised, I’ll have you know.”
Tony and Pepper join your little huddle with Morgan in tow.
“Romanoffs! You have to try this Hot Buttered Rum,” Tony remarked.
“Oh, I love Hot Buttered Rum, but I think I’ll stick with sparkling cider tonight,” you said “Nat would probably love some though, right, love?”
“Sure,” grabbing the glass from Tony’s hand as Steve looked back at you curiously.
You peered down at Morgan who was sitting on the ottoman next to the fireplace. Ever since you found out you were pregnant you were drawn to children like never before.
“Hi, sweetheart! You look so pretty tonight,” kneeling down to the little girl’s level.
“Thank you, Aunt Y/N,” she grinned.
“Are you excited for Christmas? You are clearly at the top of Santa’s nice list this year.”
“Really?!” Morgan squealed.
“Oh, absolutely, I have a feeling the man in red is going to be very good to you this year,” you winked.
“Did you hear that Daddy? Aunt Y/N said that I’m on the top of the nice list!”
“I sure did, squirt. I didn’t realize Aunt Y/N was so tight with St. Nick,” eyeing you coyly.
“Oh yeah, we’re on a first name basis. I’m surprised you’re not?” Smirking at the billionaire. You loved Tony like a brother, but you enjoyed giving him crap.
“Trust me, Mrs. Romanoff, I’m much closer to Santa than you are.”
“Really, do you have a direct line to the North Pole?”
“Are you having milk and cookies flown in from Holland? Because you know those are his favorite,” raising an eyebrow at you.
“Ooookay, that’s enough,” your wife placing hands on your shoulders from behind. “You both know Santa. You both have giant egos. Merry Christmas,” Nat mocked. Come on Tony, let’s go grab some hors d'oeuvrs for our better halves. I’ll be right back, detka,” leading the billionaire toward the kitchen.
You couldn’t help but admire Natasha as she walked away. Looking back over her shoulder, she smiled at you with all the love in the world. You just about melted right there in front of the fireplace. Snapping out of your love daze, you noticed Pepper grinning at you.
“What?”
“Oh, nothing. I just can’t help but notice how glowing you look tonight,” as Morgan pulled her away towards Clint’s kids and Steve strolled away to join Bucky in conversation with Rhodes.
“Pssst… Pssst!”
You turned around just as a styrofoam snowball was about to hit you in face. You caught it in one swift motion.
“Nice catch,” a Russian voice said.
“Yelena, where are you?” Glancing around not seeing your sister-in-law.
“Over here,” poking her head out from the behind the seven-foot snowman next to the pool table.
“Oh, now don’t you look adorable as an elf,” you giggled.
“If you weren’t pregnant with my niece or nephew you would be hanging upside down from the rafters right now.”
“You know Kate and Lucky are looking for you, right?”
“Why do you think I’m hiding behind the giant snowman? Kate Bishop forced me to dress in this saccharin American Christmas costume and now she wants photographic evidence of it.”
“Because she loves you, silly,” your arms crossed over your chest.
“Detka, it’s time for dinner. Let’s go—“Natasha stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of her sister. “Oh my God,” she burst into laughter.
“Tred carefully, sestra,” Yelena threatened.
“No, I love it. I think this qualifies as new mission suit attire,” poking the bell dangling from her elf hat. “Maybe you can get Stark to upgrade this outfit with Widow Bites.”
“Do you have a death wish?” Yelena sneered.
“Come on you adorable elf, it’s time for dinner,” placing an arm around your best friend’s shoulder.
*^~^*
You took your seat next to your wife at the Astoria Grand Giovani dining table. Natasha quietly squeezed your hand. You looked over with a shy smile and a festive blush on your cheeks.
Pepper stood up from her seat next to Tony at the head of the table. “Before we enjoy this lovely holiday feast, I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how grateful we are that you’re all here,” grasping Tony’s hand. “Everyone in this room knows how precious life is and we don’t take a moment of it for granted. We love you and Merry Christmas.”
“Here, here!” Thor declared a couple seats down from you as glasses clinked around the table.
A traditional Christmas dinner soon filled your plate. Roasted turkey with all the trimmings. Home baked bread, mashed potatoes and garden veggies gently roasted, drizzled in balsamic vinegar. The group drank, were merry, and told the most terrible of jokes.
Pregnancy mood swings were becoming commonplace and as the dinner wore on, you suddenly found yourself overwhelmed with emotion at the sight of your extended family enjoying the holiday season together.
“Y/N, are you okay?” Carol looked at you with concern in her eyes from across the table.
“Oh, yeah” dabbing at the corner of your eyes with your napkin. “I’m fine.”
“The holidays always make her a bit emotional,” Natasha offered laying her head comfortingly on your shoulder.
After dinner you helped Wanda serve the desserts. The Christmas cookies took their place in the center of the table, flanked by the Viennese torte and the pumpkin pie. Coffee and dessert wine circulated around the table.
The group of full bellies and ever so slightly sleepy eyes then made their way to the living room to relax. Christmas music softly enveloped the room as the kids were discussing what they hoped Santa was going to bring them this year.
“Okay, Kate Bishop. Let’s get this picture over with. I want to put on my pajamas,” Yelena announced as she stood from the sofa.
“Yay!! Okay, don’t move. Lucky! Here boy,” calling the dog who promptly romped over. “Vision, can you take the picture?”
“Of course Ms. Bishop.” Taking the Canon EOS R-50 from the archer.
“It is customary to say cheese before a picture, but since it is Christmas time perhaps you should say mistletoe?”
“Just take the picture,” Yelena deadpanned
“Mistletoe!” Kate yelled.
“We’re going to get one of these cards right?” Looking at your wife.
“I had Kate put us down for two,” she smirked.
*^~^*
As night fell, you rested your weary head on Nat’s lap as she ran her fingers through your hair.
Natasha looked at her watch. “You ready to drop the baby bomb?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be. I’ll get the Christmas crackers,” rising from the sofa.
“Umm, everyone. Y/N and I have a special gift for you all,” your wife announced nervously as you passed out the gold and silver novelties to the team.
“Christmas crackers? I have to be honest, I was hoping for something a bit more extravagant… Oww!” Tony whined, as Pepper pinching him on the arm.
You smiled with nervous anticipation as you reached for Natasha. The snap of the festive crackers echoed across the room. Clint was the first to reach inside and remove the tiny gift. A small round ceramic white ornament tied to a red ribbon appeared in his hand. Lila, Cooper, and Nate huddled around their dad to get a glimpse as Clint read the inscription.
“Uncle Clint?” Looking up at Natasha in shock.
“No way!” Sam shouted.
Wanda, Carol, and Kate all screamed at the sight of their own ornaments. Their names adorned with the title of Aunt.
“This is joyous news!” Thor crowed.
Pepper got up immediately and embraced you in a warm hug as Laura did the same with Natasha.
“How far along are you?” Wanda asked.
“Almost three months,” Yelena cut in.
“You knew?! Why didn’t you tell me?” Kate shouted; slapping her girlfriend on the arm.
“Because I want to sleep in!”
“I’m so happy for you, Nat,” Steve kissing her on the cheek.
Bucky wrapped his arms around you with a soft kiss to the top of your head.
“You ready to be Uncle Bucky?” Your eyes meeting his gaze.
“Oh God,” his face like a deer in the headlights.
“You’ll be great, Buck,” you giggled.
Bruce and Helen embraced Natasha in a tandem hug.
“I’m so relieved everyone knows,” Helen said turning to you. “Now we can openly discuss your pregnancy. Have you been continuing with your prenatal vitamins?”
And remember, you have an appointment on Friday,” Bruce interjected.
“Yes and yes,” you said as Natasha placed a soft kiss to your cheek and then another to your belly.
Tony walked up to you with that signature smirk on his face. You mentally prepared yourself for a signature Stark one-liner or some stupid joke. Instead, he took you by surprise when he wrapped you in a warm embrace.
“Congratulations, Romanoff. Looks like you do know Santa best.”

warnings: age-gap, adultery, mentions of cheating, NSFW scene hinted at
"Mrs. Bakugou look over here please!"
You squint against the harsh flashing of the paparazzi cameras, careful to not let your smile drop as you pose for them. Your feet were killing you in the heels your mother-in-law made you wear to match the custom dress she also had her say in designing for the annual Hero Gala. Thankfully your husband was by your side, hand on the small part of your back to keep you steady.
Peeking up at him through your false eyelashes that felt too heavy for your eyelids, you were envious that Katsuki wasn't pushed to smile for the cameras.
It was his role to be the brute, strong man while you played into the dainty, tempting trophy wife that was so small compared to his large size of pure muscles and testosterone.
You weren't a fan of the label his publicist team slapped onto you after you said 'I Do' to Japan's #2 Top Hero almost a year ago. Yet, being a trophy wife was better than being known as —
"Hey home-wrecker, you still talk to Uravity? I heard she's taking full custody of their daughter, would you like to comment?"
Bakugou moved to correct which ever journalist spoke out, and the they just loved that.
"Dynamite, are you on good terms with your ex wife?" "Does (Y/N) prevent you from seeing your child?" "Sir, did you only marry her to save your image?"
Their questions were harsh, as they were just mean. Thankfully the Bakugou family security moved in before Katsuki had to, and soon the pair of you were ushered off the red carpet.
You could still hear them calling out to you from behind the closed doors of the venue before another victim caught their eyes.
"Stupid fucking press, think they know everything," Katsuki mumbled before hiking up the stairs that led to the main ballroom where the award ceremony was held.
You hesitated at the bottom, staring up at the man who was your husband, the man who called you his wife. He was just as handsome as he was when he debuted as a hero even though now he was hitting his mid-thirties while you barely just turned twenty-two. The invasive questions that were thrown at you are rattling in your head, making it nearly impossible to move to be beside your Husband, The Hero Dynamite.
Katsuki notices you're not following him mid way up the stairs and scoffs before walking back to you.
"Stupid hag, I told her you don't know how to walk in heels," Is all he said before taking your hand and helping to lead you up the stairs.
You want to ask him about what the paparazzi was saying, if it was true that Ochako was trying to get full-custody of Katsumi. That meant he was lying to you when you asked if everything with his ex-wife was okay, right? And that last question... did he only marry you to save face —?
"What's wrong, you look like you're going to cry?" Katsuki asked quietly as a waiter showed them where you were sitting, up and center to the stage where the shiny awards were shown off on the platform.
You sit in the cushy seat, and not even the delicate decorations of the table; the shiny, white plates surrounding the centerpiece made up of what seemed to be hundreds of red roses— were enough to make you swoon and forget your worries.
Taking in Katsuki, how handsome he looks in his sleek black suit with the handkerchief peeking out of his chest pocket matching your dress, makes your heart clench.
You didn't want to cause a scene, or be an issue.
That's what Katsuki wanted, that's what he told you when you first met him.
"My wife is such a worrier, always on my ass and so damn dramatic." That's what he said, and it stuck with you because if he could leave her, a distinguished hero and the mother to his first and only child, he would leave you in the blink of an eye. Then what will become of you? The press would have a field day with that, "Fellow homewrecker gets her karma and now is heartbroken, single, and broke."
So, you suck it up, and shake your head. Putting back on your fake smile, your facade, you try being what he wants.
"Nothing at all baby, I'm just so proud of you," You lean in the gain a kiss, and it does make you a tad better when Katsuki grants you it.
———————
"Daddy!"
Thank god Katsuki had fast reflexives.
The moment the bedroom door is flung open, he's sitting up in bed. Katsuki pulls your naked chest to his and wraps the comforter up your shoulders to hide any naked skin from the view of his six-year old daughter Katsumi.
"'Sumi," He grits his teeth in annoyance but Katsuki never yells at his daughter. You hide your face into his neck, his body heat almost feeling scorching hot against yours as you blush red from embarrassment at almost being caught doing it by the little girl.
"Hi (Y/N)!" Katsumi yells when she spots your hair poking out of the comforter.
"Shhh," Katsuki shushes Katsumi, making her red eyes widen in worry. "(Y/N) is sleeping baby, what do you need?" Katsuki was sure that leaving his daughter occupied in her room with snacks and her favorite Bluey episodes playing on her TV would give him at least an hour to destress.
Katsumi cups her hands to her mouth, whispering, "I missed you guys and wanted to see if (Y/N) would play with me?"
Having Katsumi love you unconditionally was something you were immensely lucky to have, and her plea to play with you makes you teary eye at her sweetness.
Being identical to Katsuki in terms of looks, with his blonde hair and red eyes, she didn't inherit her father's temper. Katsumi was kinder and more willing to wear her heart on her sleeve, which made loving her easy for you.
Katsuki could feel the annoyance of being interrupted vanish at his daughter's sweet question, his hands that were anchored on your bare, bruised hips, gave you a gentle squeeze.
"Sure baby, let me wake her up and (Y/N) would love to play with you," Katsuki said.
Katsumi cheered before she quickly quieted down to not 'wake you', running out of the room after softly closing the door behind her.
You shimmy the blanket off you, both you and Katsuki red in the face from almost being caught.
"Do you need help with this?" You tease, rolling your hips to reignite the pleasure Katsuki was pulling from your body. His cock was still hard inside of you, seeing how he was almost finding his release before Katsumi interrupted.
Usually, Katsuki would take any opportunity to use your wet pussy to make himself feel good so imagine your surprise when he shakes his head no.
"I actually have to head to the office to finish up some reports from the week. Do you mind watching Katsumi until I'm finished? We could go out for dinner afterwards?"
Katsuki doesn't wait for your answer, he easily lifts you completely off his cock and placing you on the bed next to him before he gets up and begins getting dressed. You sit there for a bit, watching as your husband covers up all the love bites you left on him.
"Reports?" You ask, still in shock that he didn't finish what he started.
Katsuki's head falls back as he sighs, annoyance making his brow furrow as he puts on his shirt.
"Yes (Y/N), reports. They're important to hero work, you would know if you were one."
The last part bites, and it's the sting you needed to get up and dress yourself. Katsuki knew talking about your lack of having a quirk was a sore subject to you, you told him this countless times. Yet, he would bring it up time to time when he wanted to showcase how he was wiser, older, and knew what he was talking about and how you were stupid for questioning him.
You're having a pretend tea-party with Katsumi in the living room when Katsuki bids his farewell.
"Girls, give me a kiss for luck," He orders, and Katsumi springs up in giggles to give her father a big kiss on his cheek.
You are slow to make your way to him, still hurt by what he said and because he hadn't apologized.
Katsuki doesn't wait for you, he pulls you to him with a strong hand cupping your asscheek and giving it a squeeze. You kiss him, and he groans softly against your mouth.
"Tonight, we lock the fuckin' door, yeah?" He growls against your ear, too soft for Katsumi to hear as she already was back to playing.
It wasn't a proper apology, but the way your core tightened and your cunt leaked, it would do.
Later, as you now played princess in Katsumi's bedroom in front of her giant doll house, your mood began to damper again.
"(Y/N), does my daddy still pay you for babysitting me?" It was an honest question, and you knew Katsumi didn't mean anything by it but you still flinched at her words.
You try smiling the pain away, shaking your head. "Of course not silly girl, your daddy and I are married now."
Katsumi's sweet smile looks too much like her mother's and it reminds you of how Ochako would look at you when she'd come home from work: naive and so happy, oblivious to the fact that Katsuki had you bent over the bed he shared with her just moments prior to her return.
You had to look away so Katsumi wouldn't see the tears gathering in your eyes as you swallowed back the guilt you felt for breaking up the sweet girl's family.
Katsumi, still oblivious and not able to read nor have access to the internet just yet, still treated you like you were the best stepmom ever.
How many years do I have left before she only sees me as the other woman?
———————
Drop-offs were always awkward for you.
Despite the rumors the paparazzi spread, the relationship between Dynamite and Uravity was civil. Yet the relationship between you and Ochako was a bit strained, to say the least.
You hug Katsumi goodbye as she leaves to spend the week with her mother, before she gets into Ochako's car.
"No Katsuki?" Ochako asked with a raised eyebrow.
You cower under her questionable look, and you shrug. "He got caught up in the office again this week."
Your answer seems to be funny to her, and Ochako laughs before shaking her head. "I've heard that one before."
Saying nothing, you almost feel relief when the woman turns to walk back to her car before turning back to you.
"Let me give you piece of advice sweetheart, wife-to-wife," Ochako said coldly. "When Mr. Bakugou starts using the excuse of being 'caught up at the office', you better start claiming assets for the divorce."
Your eyes tear up, and your bottom lip quivers as the older woman rips into you.
"Trust me (Y/N), you don't want to keep holding on when he's already balls deep in someone else," Ochako warns, scoffing at your distress and walking away finally.
"I can't believe Katsuki liked them so young and stupid," The former Mrs. Bakugou said as she walked.
You openly sob as she drives away, Katsumi's confused face zooming past as you cry standing in the huge driveway of the house Katsuki owned.
It felt like your heart was ripped out of your chest, the idea of there being someone else when you've given your all for Katsuki and this marriage nearly drives you insane with grief. Karma was a bitch—
Your phone dings which takes your attention away from your pain, and you nearly cheer up when you notice a new message from Katsuki, only it read:
be home late, don't wait up
part two

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞- 𝐞.𝐦. (𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞’𝐬 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don’t rly go here at this current moment in time but i def want to start writing for eddie more so im partaking in @carolmunson’s writing challenge!! details found here!
pairing- eddie munson x fem!reader
summary- you’re teaching eddie some baking skills ahead of your family’s holiday party. eddie accidentally lets some insecurities slip. you reassure him how much you love him.
warnings- this lowkey got kind of angsty but only for a little, insecure!eddie but we love him
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
thump.
the collision of soft cushion against the back of your head mats your hair and stops you in your tracks. you pause for a moment, hands settling on the edge of the small trailer’s kitchen. you bite your lip, almost annoyed at yourself that you find his immature behavior so endearing.
“really, eds? are you five?” you chastise lovingly, promptly returning the throw pillow exactly the same way it came.
“oof!” eddie exhales as the pillow comes into contact with his soft tummy, “i'm sooorrryyyyy," he fake whines, sauntering over to your spot in the kitchen, "god forbid i want attention from my girlfriend! didn't realize that was asking so much!"
you roll your eyes at his dramatics but sink into his chest as he encircles his arms around your waist.
"what are we making, pretty girl?" he murmurs against your temple before placing a kiss there.
"my grandmother's famous sugar cookie recipe. you can be in charge of the frosting?" you lean your head back onto his shoulder as you ask the question, your sparkling eyes boring into his uncertain ones.
he sucks in air through his teeth, "i dunno babe, i'm no good at this. in case you forgot, i burn water."
you stiffen in his arms, "don't be like that," you quip, "that's not even true! and you know i hate when you talk about yourself like that. so in case you forgot, you can do anything you set that pretty little mind to." you punctuate your little speech with a kiss to his forehead, hoping it seeps through his brain and he finally understands how amazing he truly is.
"thanks, babe," he mutters sheepishly, his humorous reserve gone, "how do i make frosting? i didn't even know it doesn't always come in cans until just now."
you huff out a laugh, "i brought my recipe book for everything," you explain, pulling out a small notebook full of your grandmother's scribbles, "so as long as you have measuring cups and mixing bowls we should be all set."
he takes a second to rummage through his cupboards, pulling out white plastic cups with faded labels on them- 1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/4 cup, and so on.
"we don't have any like, nice measuring cups, is this okay?" he asks, voice still meek, cheeks tinted the slightest shade of pink.
“as long as we have the right measurements, i don’t care what they look like,” you flash him your sweetest smile before planting a big kiss on his cheek. you beam when his cheeks flush even deeper.
“soooo…” eddie starts, handing you two mixing bowls and taking one for himself, “who’s all going to be there this weekend?”
you could tell by the unusual nonchalance in his tone that he was nervous, but trying to play it cool. after a lifetime of harassment for being who he was, you knew that the pressure of meeting your family was resting heavy on his shoulders.
“pretty much the whole crew,” you say as lightly as possible, but you still see him tense. “eds. they’re gonna love you. i promise,” you tell him with utmost sincerity.
“really?” he scoffs, putting more elbow grease than necessary into mixing the vanilla cookie frosting, “you positive your picture perfect family is gonna be okay with you bringing some freak to their annual party?” his words have bite to them, and they make you pause. “the fact that your family even has an annual christmas party is beyond me.” he mutters under his breath.
you know what he’s doing, you’ve been here before. eddie sometimes feels insecure about the disparities of his upbringing, and you know by now that he doesn’t mean what he’s saying. his bitter words are his armor, protecting him from the vulnerability he shied away from for years. that doesn’t mean they don’t sting, though.
“eddie, if you don’t stop, we’re gonna have a problem,” you rest your spoon on the lip of the mixing bowl and turn to him, “i love you. everything about you, and my family loves me. which means that they’re going to love you no matter what, because you’re important to me.”
he’s still not entirely convinced, so you opt to pull out the big guns, “eddie. do you love me?”
his eyes snap to yours, wild and incredulous, “of course i do. what kind of question is that?”
“as cheesy as it sounds, that’s all that matters sweetheart. they’re going to see how sweet you love me, and that’s all they’ll need to know you’re amazing,” you thwart his attempts to make himself smaller, “unfortunately for you, babe, you can’t hide from me at this point. i see all of you, i know all of you, and i love all of you,” you move to wrap your arms around his middle, eyes boring into his so he can feel your sincerity.
“you-you really like that?” he chews his bottom lip, “all of me?” the last part comes out quiet, and your heart cracks in your chest.
“i love it, eddie. i love you. i swear i want to go back in time and beat up all those little assholes who made you feel otherwise,” you seal your words with a kiss on his lips, a hint of vanilla frosting dances on your tongue.
“thank you, my love,” he says when you break, squeezing you to his chest in an infamous eddie bear hug, “i love you too.”
the two of you stood there for a minute, your nails scraping at the nape of his neck as he held you close.

Always and Forever
Summary: You and Charles have a long history together. Will he finally come home to you?
Tumblr media
A long, smutty, angsty Charles Leclerc imagine.
You had known Charles since the two of you were kids. You families we close friends, so naturally your childhood meant being around Charles a lot. From a very young age you knew you had a crush on Charles, who wouldn't? Your families had always been aware of yours' and Charles' blossoming relationship, but Charles always gently shut down the thought of you getting together, using the excuse that he was older than you (only by 2 years). You had remained close friends, and when Charles started traveling more and more due to F1, you also became close friends with his brother Arthur. Arthur had always known you craved Charles more than you let on, more than anyone else in the family. He was always the one to comfort you whenever Charles had shut you down, or whenever you saw a new girl on Charles' arms in every country he visited.
When you were 22, and Charles was 24, thriving in his career, things changed between the 2 of you.
The Leclerc family had invited you and yours to their house for the annual Christmas dinner. It was a lavish dinner with the fanciest foods and the most expensive wines. You made sure to dress as sexy as you could, hoping to make an impression on the one you love. Yes, you can easily say you are in love with Charles. You opted for a satin white dress that hugged all your curves in the right places. Your heels were a high as the sky. Your hair was curled and pinned in a way that made you look stunning and your makeup was simple yet beautiful. You know you looked like a million bucks. To give you a boost of confidence, you decided to forego any panties or a bra. You boobs held the dress perfectly, and you couldn't wait to see Charles' reaction. You were no more the young Y/N, too young for him. You were now a beautiful woman, ready to take her step into the world.
As you entered the Leclerc residence in the heart of Monaco, your eyes quickly searched for him. You hadn't seen him for 6 months, him busy with F1, and you had started a new internship that was in Nice.
You heard him before you saw him, but before you could react and even look around for him, someone pulled you and whisked you away to a quiet place.
'Arthur, what are you doing' you whispered.
Arthur looked at you with sad eyes, he looked scared to even say anything.
After a few seconds of raising your brows at him, he finally started -
'Y/N, maybe we should just ditch the party and go out somewhere. We can have a nice dinner and then hit up a club with some friends.'
Confused, you questioned him again. 'why would we do that? Your parents are throwing an amazing party so why would we just up and leave to go someplace else?'
'It's...it's..-' he stammered. 'Charles. He's here with a girl. Alex.'
Your heart started to heat faster. You didn't know what to make of that. You certainly weren't prepared to see another girl on Charles' arms tonight. Not when you haven't even spoken to him for a few months, and not when you made an effort to get noticed by him, only for him not even give you a second glace.
'That doesn't mean its ok for us to leave the party. Your mum would be very upset with us' you said.
Arthur continued to look at you with a worried face.
'I'll be okay' you lied.
He simply nodded his head and took your hand, leading you back to the living room where everyone was mingling.
As soon as you entered the room you eyes found his. He flashed you his signature smile, dimples showing, eyes crinkling. You felt your heart start to beat faster. Maybe you should have taken Arthur's offer to leave. You felt him squeeze you hand, to let you know he was there for you. And you were grateful for that.
Charles and who you assumed to be Alex, made their way over to where you were standing. 'Y/N' Charles sweetly said, kissing both your cheeks and pulling you into a hug. Your body felt frozen, out of place. This was your Charles, your friend first and foremost, yet you felt like you were meeting him for the first time. 'Charles, how are you?' you managed to smile. 'All well. Oh, this is Alex by the way' he said, looking at her like she was the most beautiful thing in the room. He wasn't wrong. She was beautiful. So beautiful in fact. Her slim figure wore a lovely dress and her long hair looked so soft. You managed another smile. 'It's lovely to meet you.' Charles turned to you 'and this is Y/N, one of my first best friends.' Alex kissed both your cheeks in greeting.
You spent the rest of of the evening mingling with different people. Family members of the Leclercs, friends, when finally Joris, a very good friend of both you and Charles found his way to you. 'All okay?' He asked.
'Yep, all good. Actually getting a bit tired. I have an early drive back to Nice tomorrow to fetch some of my stuff. My internship is over so I'll be back in Monaco for a while'
'That's great. It will be nice to have to back. I miss our catchups' he smiled.
Hearing him say that made you think of the memories you had growing up alongside him and Charles. You always had the best time with them. Only now you couldn't imagine making yourself available to tag alone with them, especially with Alex at Charles' side.
'I need some air,' you croaked out and walked away.
You made your way to the back garden, desperate for some fresh air to breathe. It felt like you were holding your breath the whole evening.
As soon as you stepped outside you immediately regretted it. There was Charles. With this tongue down Alexs' throat. Hand up her dress. You wanted to be sick. This was one thing you could have gone without seeing tonight. It all happened in a matter of seconds. You hoped they didn't hear your heals clanking on the bricks. But they did. Charles' eyes immediately widened at seeing you.
'Y/N' he smiled and let go of Alex. ' I was hoping we could spend some time together. I'd love for you Alex to get to know each other better.'
What was he playing at? He knew you had a 'crush' on him, so why the fuck would he want you and his girlfriend to be friends.
'Oh, sorry for interrupting, I was just one my way out' you muttered, hoping he would shut up and leave you. You started making a beeline for your car, when he ran after you.
'Y/N what is this. You hardly talk to me for months, you somewhat ignore me all evening, and then you don't even attempt to get to know Alex better.'
By now you were fuming. You were hurt for sure, but angry.
'I have a busy life too, you know. You're busy traveling around the world, but I'm not sat here waiting to message or call you every second of the day. You could have tried to contact me too. But it all makes sense now. Alex is keeping you even busier that you can't even check up on a friend or congratulate her for graduating and getting an internship.'
'Oh yeah, it all comes down to Alex.' He scoffed. What? That was what he took away from your whole rant?
'Why can't you just be happy for me that I found someone and I'm in love?'
You felt tears start to sting you eyes.
He continued 'At least i can keep a partner and not have them cheat on me'
That was a dagger to you heart. He knew how broken you were when your ex cheated on you, then broke up with you, as if you had done something wrong. Arthur was away at the time, so it was Charles who comforted you. To have him throw those words to you, you didn't know who he was anymore.
'I need to go' you whispered as you walked past him to your car and drove off.
It was so surprise that you struggled to sleep that night. Arthur had texted, asking where you disappeared to. You told him you wanted to get enough sleep before your drive to Nice tomorrow.
You thought back at the night. It definitely didn't go the way you thought it would. But more so you were disappointed in the way Charles was towards you. Where was the boy who made you laugh, who showed you an endless amount of respect, who gave you flutters of hope every time he smiled at you. Today he only broke your little heart.
As you were deep in thought, your phone lit up and the noise of a new message. Your heart skipped a beat at the name that popped up
'CLC'
'Y/N, i apologize for my behavior tonight. You did not deserve all those things I said to you. I hope you find it in you to forgive me.'
Just as you finished reading that text, another one popped up:
'And i wish I told you in person - you looked absolutely beautiful tonight....goodnight..x'
You heart skipped a heat at reading that and you couldn't help but smile to yourself.
'Thank you, Charles. Goodnight' was all you said back to him.
A few months had passed since that night. Charles was back to his traveling, and you'd exchanged a few texts here and there, and even Face-timed once after he won a race.
One Friday night in, alone at your house in Monaco, when your phone rang with an unknown caller ID.
'Hello?'
'Y/N.' You would recognize that voice anywhere
'Charles' you smiled. 'Are you ok? Why didn't you call me from your number?'
'I uh..forgot my phone at home. Yours was the only number i remembered. I'm out at a nightclub..I wondered if you are able to come and fetch me? I really need to talk to you.'
'Of course I'll come fetch you, but is everything ok?' you panicked. But secretly felt happy that he only remembered your number.
'Everything will be better when you're here' he said into the phone.
Not 15 minutes later and you were pulling into the nightclub he was at. You saw him sitting at the curb, surprised he wasn't with any friends or anyone. As you parked, you got out the car and made your way to him.
'Charles are you ok? Why are you sitting here alone? Have you been drinking?'
He smiled 'very little, can i drive?' he stood up and took the car keys from your hand. You followed him and sat in the passengers seat.
He started the car and backed out onto the street, you noticed he was going in the direction of his house.
The car ride was silent, until you started 'Hey, what's going on?'
He looked at you. His eyes bore into yours.
'Alex and I broke up'
Oh. Oh you weren't expecting that.
'Oh, im so sorry to hear that, Charles.' To be honest, you weren't sorry.
'I'm not' he said.
You didn't really know what to say back. It was silent for few more minutes until he started again:
'Breaking up with her made me realize something'
You looked to him, waiting for him to continue.
'It's you'
Wait what? What did he just say? What's 'you'?
'Y/N, I'm sorry. I've dragged you along for too long. Given you hope. False hope. Even though I was lying to myself. I've always had feelings for you. You're always going to be my annoying little best friend, but I couldn't help falling for you.'
I'm sorry, are you hearing this right? Charles is telling you he...likes you? What? You had no words, you weren't sure if you could even voice a word right now. So you stayed silent.
He parked the car at his apartment basement and turned his body towards you.
'I know this is a lot to take in right now. But i needed you to know. I've wanted to tell you since last summer, but never had the guts to. Too scared to hear you tell me you've moved on from me. But i cant hold it in anymore. I really really like you Y/N.'
You were shocked. All you could do was smile but then a doubt crept into your mind.
'if you've felt like this since summer, why did you start dating Alex for the most part of the year?' you asked. It just wasn't adding up for you.
He sighed. 'I started dating her to try and forget about you. I couldn't bring myself to tell you how i feel and be shut down by you, so i thought finding someone else was the solution. I tried to distance myself from you.'
You didn't know what to say. Charles took you hand and kissed your knuckles.
'I still want to be with you Charles. I don't think there will be a time where i don't want to be with you.' you smiled at him.
The pair of you quickly made your way to the elevator to get up to the apartment. Everything was happening quickly. Too quickly even. But you both were so caught up with everything that was said.
The two of you stepped into the elevator. Standing close together, but before the door could even close, Charles had pushed you against the wall. His lips ghosting over yours.
'Can I?' he asked.
You couldn't form a coherent thought or word to say. You simply nodded.
His lips crashed into yours. They were soft and plump, and tasted even more delicious than you ever imagined them to be. (and yes, you imagined what they would taste like....a lot). You both smiled into the kiss. It very quickly got heated. The both of you battling for dominance. In the end, Charles won, as you opened up your mouth to him. You felt him suck on your bottom lip, before his tongue slid into your mouth, and explored you as if there was gold to find. Eventually he pulled back when the elevator dinged. You smiled at each other and walked rather quickly to his door.
As soon as the door was shut behind you, Charles scooped you up and carried you to his bedroom. He lowered you to his bed and began peeling his shirt off. All you could do was stare. Sure you had seem him shirtless before, but this was a whole new ballgame. Charles was looking at you like you were the most precious thing in the world. But he also wore a smirk, that had you wrapped around his little finger.
You took that as a new found confidence, and slowly shimmied out of your dress, completely forgetting you were alone at home before he called, and you weren't wearing any underwear.
Charles' eyes widened and you gasped, but quickly his eyes darkened, and all you could see was lust. Lust for you.
He pulled you flush against himself 'so fucking beautiful, i don't know why i waited this long to see you like this'
You felt a blush creep up your cheeks at his words. The two of you started kissing again. A dirty, sloppy kiss with teeth and tongues clashing. He moved down to your neck and very quickly found your sweet spot. That earned him the sexiest moan from you. 'Fuck' he muttered. He gently laid you down on his mattress and opened your legs up. You should have felt conscious, him staring into your most private parts, but you didn't. If anything, you felted so turned on. You'd dreamt about moments like this. To have your Charles look at your like this.
He started kissing a path up your thighs. Too slow for your liking. He was teasing you, and you both knew it. You moaned 'Charles please' and he smirked. He very quickly realized he would never tire of hearing you beg for him.
Suddenly without warning, his tongue licked a strip up your cunt. You were speechless, you couldn't even breathe properly. In no time he found your clit, sucking and pulling at it with this mouth, earning more and more moans from you. This is what you call eating your girl out. He was a professional. If it were an Olympic sport, he would win gold. Double gold even. The feeling was incredible. The noises in the room were obscene. All it took was a few minutes until you came crashing down. Charles made sure to lick up all of your warm juices, leaving nothing behind.
'So delicious Mon amour'
The nickname made your heart flutter. You grabbed his hair gentle and bought his face up to yours to kiss him. You could still taste your saltiness in his mouth. While kissing, you felt his fingers find your pussy. He slowly started rubbing circles on your clit. He kept getting close to your entrance, then moved his fingers further away. You gave him a groan 'Charles' you said breathlessly. ''What do you want Y/N.' He was smirking again.
He continued his movements, but still didn't give you what you wanted. You continued to groan, getting so worked up. 'You need to tell me what you want Y/N' Fuck this man is going to be the end of you, and is he really making you beg after making you wait practically your whole life for this day?
'Finger Charles, use your fingers, fuck'
And without a second thought the thrust two fingers at once. You both moaned in unison. You at the incredible feeling of his fingers hitting the right spots, him at the how tight you were.
You came a second and third time. Breathless, yet still needing more. You needed to feel him. In your mouth and in your cunt.
You slowly pushed him onto his back and climbed onto of him.
He took your boobs into his hands and started massaging them and pinching your pebbled nipples. 'Fuck Charles' you said as you felt him bring his lips closer and quickly take your one nipple into his mouth while he still played with the other. Once he had enough time with your boobs, you shimmied you way down his body and peeled off his jeans and boxers. His cock sprang free, smacking his stomach. He looked so painfully hard. But oh so beautiful.
'My turn to taste you' you cooed. Charles flashes you his signature smile with his dimples. 'You don't have to-' 'I want to' you interrupted him.
You took him in your hands. No surprise he was thick. And long. And there was a vein at the side that made everything that much hotter. What Charles did next sent a jolt of electricity to your core. He bent forward and let his spit dangle from his mouth down to his dick. If you weren't horny before, you definitely were now. You'd never seen anything hotter in your 24 and a half years on earth. 'Fuck me' you muttered. 'Well, that is the plan' he replied.
You lowered you mouth to take his cock inside it. Obviously, you couldn't fit all of him in, so your hand took care of the rest. You slowly licked a stripe up his shaft and suck the tip of him into your mouth. His pre-cum was already so delicious, you couldn't wait to get more.
'Hmm' you looked up to see his eyes roll to the back of his head, as he pulled your hair out of your face and held it behind your head.
'Fuck Y/N, you take me so well. You're fucking amazing at this' he muttered as you started to bob your head up and down, gagging slightly as you felt him reach the back of your throat.
'Fuck, im close Y/N'
'Come for me Charles, let go for me' and with that you tasted him. Salty and warm, and oh so delicious.
He bought you up to sit on his lap again, kissing you again for what felt like hours. Until he heard his phone ringing. Whining, you climbed off him so he could take the call. It was Arthur, you heard him speak in french 'Charles? Do you know where Y/N is? I've tried calling and texting her but she's not answering.' 'Charles had to keep a giggle in. I saw her at the club earlier, she said she was spending the night at her friends.' They're probably already sleeping, they got quite drunk' he said while sending you a wink. 'Ah okay' said Arthur, 'I wanted to invite her for Charlottes' birthday lunch tomorrow, you're coming right? It will just be the 4 of us and Enzo.' Yes, we''l be there...I mean..I'll be there' Charles said holding in a laugh. 'Great, see you tomorrow' Arthur said as he ended the call.
'How am i going to be in the same room as you and keep my hands to myself?' Charles said quickly. You could only laugh as he pulled you back into his lap, resuming his activities of kissing you as deep as he could.
You started to grind on him, and when you heard a string of french words leave him mouth, you finally, finally lifted yourself up and sank down on him. It felt like you were made for each other. He filled you so perfectly. You mind went blank, all you could think about was your Charles, finally coming home to you. He started meeting you halfway, lifting himself up and thrusting into you, as hard as he could. The room was filled more obscene noises, pants, breath, moans and swear words from the both of you. 'M close, Charles' you managed to say.
He quickly found your clit with his fingers and within seconds you came for a 4th time in one night. Your bundle of nerves were so sensitive, but you still couldn't get enough of him.
He slid out of you and switched positions. This time you were on all fours, and he slammed into you with no warning. 'Fuck, so tight, so fucking tight me ma belle' he panted.
'Charles, i'm close' you muttered, surprised your 5th orgasm was rolling around so quickly.
'Wait for me cherie' he said as he fucked harder and harder into you. By know you legs were shaking, and he had to hold you upright to balance you. You could feel his hot breath on your neck and in unison, you both came undone.
You both stayed in that position for a while, catching your breaths, until he slowly slid out of you causing the two of you to let out a groan. He quickly ran to his bathroom and came back with a warm cloth and wiped you down, leaving you feather kisses all over.
When he returned again, he climbed into the bed beside you can pulled you to his side. 'I know everything is happening rather quickly, but Y/N i want you to know i am serious about you. I've known you for a very long time and every single part of your being, inside and out, is incredible. I love you.'
You eyes started tearing up upon hearing that. You've wanted to hear those words since you found out what a 'crush' is or what 'feelings' are. You snuggled closer to him and kissed his nose. 'I love you too Charlie.' You fell asleep in each others arms.
The next morning you woke up slightly confused with where you were. Until the memories came crashing down. You tried to hide your smile before turning around in the strong arms that were around you. He was still asleep, slightly snoring. He looked as beautiful as ever, and you couldn’t believe he was yours. You took in his appearance. He had a soft smile, dimples peaking out, a good tan and the hottest jawline ever. You quickly pecked his nose as he started shuffling. His eyes flew open and within a second those dimples came to life. He gave you the biggest boyish grin and pulled you impossibly closer.
‘Good morning mom amour’ he whispered.
‘Good morning my love’
‘We’ve got lunch with the family today, care to join?’ He said, wiggling his eyebrows.
You threw him a genuine smile, secretly hoping more days like this would come.
Instead of saying anything, you kissed him. Hard and deep, and he kissed you back. He rolled onto you and removed your (his) tshirt.
Charles started meddling with your boobs, pinching your nipples and earning a moan from you.
‘I’ll never get tired of hearing that my love. It’s so fucking sexy’
To hear him say than in his raspy morning voice turned you on even more. Yes, you definitely were sensitive from last night, but you craved so much more.
Before you could continue, an idea popped into Charles’ head. He suddenly stopped his movements and swiftly removed himself from on top of you, got up and walked to the bathroom, stripping his boxers on the way. Shocked, you looked on. What is he doing you thought. He popped his head out a few seconds later.
‘Coming? Or non’.
You’ve never got out of bed faster than right now.
He had the shower turned on and once the water was nice and hot, you both stepped in. He started to shampoo your silky hair, massaging you, earning moans from you. You did the same to him in return. Suddenly your back hit the cold tiles and Charles knelt down in front of you, opening your legs. You held onto his hair, knowing what was coming. Only it wasn’t what you expected. You thought his mouth would be on you. But he angled the shower head to your most sensitive parts. You gasped as you felt the water spray on your clit. Charles gave you his signature smirk before adding his tongue, AND FINGERS to the mix.
You mind could form no coherent thoughts. You could barely hold your body up. Luckily Charles and his strong arms held you in place. He soon placed the shower head back in place and added two more fingers to you.
‘Y/N you look so fucking hot right now. Definitely a sight for sore eyes’
All you could do was nod.
As Charles felt you getting close, he stood up and replaced his fingers with his painfully hard cock. The stretch was a bit of a sting at first, but when he started pumping in and out of you, the pleasure made it all worth it. He was fucking into you harder than you’d ever had it before.
‘Fuck, Charles’ was all you could say. ‘Fuck fuck fuck’
He smiled, ‘I am fucking you mon amour. You’re taking me so well. So tight and needy for my thick dick’ he muttered, almost to himself.
Within minutes your legs were shaking and your warm cum released from you. You wanted to taste him again, so as soon as you knew he was close, you made him slide out of you and you got on your knees. Taking him as deep into your mouth as you could. Pumping what you couldn’t fit with your hands, and massaging his balls. No sooner than I minute later you could taste his deliciousness and he moaned and praised you for your activities.
You stood up and kissed him again. You could kiss him forever, as you felt his hands massaging your ass.
‘Charles I really am sore now, no more sex for a loooong while’ you said.
He laughed ‘as if. Let’s see who breaks first’
‘Is that a challenge? Let’s see who can’t keep their hands off the other at lunch later’ you wiggled your eyebrows at him.
‘Deal' he said with a smirk.
You needed to go home to change since it was already 11.30 and the lunch was for 12.15. You'd decided with Charles that he would drive the pair of you to the lunch. And if anyone raises eyebrows at the fact you came together, he would say you talked about it at the club last night.
You opted for mini summer dress that ended just above your knees, and paired it with a pair of wedges. Charles wore a simple white cotton button up and some shorts - it was just a casual lunch, nothing fancy.
As he parked the car at the restaurant, he turned to you and stopped your movements of getting out of the car. The next thing you felt were his lips on yours surely leaving a bruise. It was hard and rough, his tongue exploring your mouth once again.
Breathlessly, you both pulled away, smiling at each other.
'Just needed something to keep me going through lunch, since i can't even touch you, and until i get you back home to ruin you all over again' he said.
You felt your cheeks get red and you heart beat faster. Not knowing what you say, you smiled and sent him a wink, before climbing out of his pista.
Walking up to the table, everyone's eyes was on the two of you.
'Did you guys come together?' Lorezno asked.
'Yep,' you said, looking at Charles who had his shades on, the sneaky bugger.
'We saw each other at the club last night and decided to come together' he said back.
'Okay, Y/N, where have you been? You hair looks like its just been through a room full of fans' Arthur said, showing you a smirk. He knew something fishy was going on.
'Oh i had the window down in the pista, thats it' you said back.
Of course the only two chairs that were left were next to eachother, which meant the lunch would be 10x more difficult for you to keep your hands away from him.
'Happy Birthday Charlotte', you said kissing her cheeks and gifting her a stunning bouquet of flowers. 'I hope Enzo is spoiling you today,' you said sending a wink to Enzo.
So far the lunch was going well. Everyone was in conversation with each other and it was nice to catch up with Charlotte after a long time. The food and drinks were flowing nicely.
Nicely, until you felt somebody's hand creep up your legs, almost touching your most sensitive parts. You jumped in surprise, and started coughing, having to blame your wine go down the wrong hole. As you settled down again, it came back. This time you had to keep your blush at bay, and you sent Charles a pleading look. All he did was smirk at you, before removing his hand.
Two can play at the game you thought, as you sneakily bought you hand to rest on his bulge, feeling his dick grow hard as rock under your touch. He could barely even concentrate on what Arthur was saying, let alone engage in the conversation.
When he was sure no one was looking, he bought his lips to your ear and said 'behave, mon amour, or you'll be sorry later'
Just the thought of later caused you to squeeze your thighs shut together to release the ache between them.
'We're thinking of taking the yacht out after lunch, to watch the sunset. Care to join?' Enzo said looking at you and Charles.
You wanted to say no. To say you had someplace else to be. But they would surely notice Charles missing as well.
'Of course' you replied, while Charles gave you an annoyed look.
Some time later, all of you were out on the yacht. It was a beautiful day to be out on the waters, and you were glad you decided to come. Although you also wish you were tucked away in yours' or Charles' apartment with him inside you. Thinking about that only turned you on, and for the past 30 minutes you were having difficulty focusing on anything other than Charles and his fingers and his tongue and his dick.
A few more friends had joined your group, and Charles was currently sitting opposite you, sending what you could only describe as heart eyes in you direction. You tried to tell him to stop, but he wouldn't.
The sun was set and the sky was getting darker. Some were in the water enjoying the coolness of the water while others were just lounging around.
You decided you need some air, so you went to the other side of the boat and climbed to the bottom of the steps where the boat met the water, and dunked your feet in. It was nice and relaxing, until someone decided to join you.
'Having fun? Or would you rather be fucking' he smirked at you.
'Oh my god Charles' you whispered. 'You cant say things like that out loud. And get away from here. Its hard not being able to jump you as it is'
'Relax, amour. Everyone is in the water on the other side of the boat' he said as he slowly got into the water himself, and settled between you legs.
The last 24 hours had honestly been a dream Everything you've ever wanted had come true and you couldn't be happier.
'Are you ok, love?' Charles asked as he caught you deep in thought.
All you could do was smile and lean forward, bringing your lips to his.
It was a gentle kiss. Not heated like before. Just a gentle embrace between two people who love each other.
'i love you'' he whispered
'I love you too, my Charlie'
Things quickly took a turn as he started to slide your bikini bottoms down from under your dress.
Before you could process what was happening or worry about the others, you felt Charles gently push into you. To say the feeling was incredible was an understand.
'Fuck, mon cherie' he whispered. 'You feel so good' he said as he started to set a faster pace. You braced yourself, holding onto his shoulders, playing with his hair, moaning into his ear. Trying to be as quiet as you could.
Nothing was gentle anymore. Charles was slamming into you. Fucking into your cunt. Hitting all the right places.
'Charles' you moaned. 'I'm close'. 'Let go princess, but be quiet, unless you want the others to find me fucking you here' he whispered, smiling at you.
'Fuck' was all you could say. You were incredibly sore but you couldn't get enough at the same time.
Within minutes you reached your peak. It was so intense that you couldn't hold yourself together. Charles literally had to carry you into the water, to support you, as well as chase his own high.
'Merde' he gasped as you finally felt him splutter into you.
'You are so amazing, I cant get enough of you' he whispered as he peppered your face in open-mouthed kisses.
You could hear some voices getting closer to where the two of you were, so you quickly separated yourself from Charles and sat back on the step.
'Oooooh, whats going on here?' Arthur and Charlotte said as the approached you and Charles.
'Nothing, just chilling' you said, although your feet were inside of Charles shorts, playing with his willy, but the others' couldn't see that
Arthur gave you raised eyebrows. 'ooookay, well we are heading back now, just wanted to let you know. As he turned on his heel and pulled a confused Charlotte behind him.
'He so knows we're fucking. He knows me too well. And he knows you' you told Charles as he started getting out of the water.
He suddenly gave you a shocked look.
'What?' you almost jumped up because of the way he was looking at you.
'I took your bikini bottoms off of you and i think i let them go in the water' he said, barely holding in his laughter.
'Oh my god Charles, im wearing an almost see-through dress, and that was my favorite bikini' you said pouting.
'I'll buy you a new one amour. and wrap my towel around you. Whatever is under that dress is only to be seen by me, no one else' he said as he helped you on your feet and guided you back towards where the others were.
'Need a ride home?' Arthur asked you quietly. You felt your cheeks heating up. How could you say no without giving away the fact that your were fucking his brother?
'Um-' you started, but Charles quickly interrupted you.
'Y/N, do you still need me to take a look at the thing wrong with your car?'
Life saver.
'Yes please, if you don't mind.'
You looked at Arthur. All he did was smile and mutter 'okay'
'Thanks for the save''' you giggled to Charles as you both got settled in his pista again.
'No problem, babes'
You made a face. You weren't used to being called babes, or babe, especially by Charles, so to hear him say that made you wet. So wet. As if you've had a dry spell for the last 24 hours.
There was a sudden shift in the mood on the way back to your apartment.
'What's got you thinking so hard' you asked as you observed Charles.
He smiled a gentle smile. 'I know everything is happening really quickly, and I wouldn't change it for the world.. But i've realised i dont want to be away from you. At all times. I know that sounds crazy, because i travel so much, and although i would love for you to join me at every race, I can't expect you to leave home and work all the time. Don't get me wrong, i would gladly have you with me 24/7 if it’s something you wanted’ he paused. You waited for him to continue.
He looked at your with eyes that held so much love ‘join me for the triple header.’
You kept silent, rewarding him with a smile.
‘We just got together, and I don’t think I can go 3 whole weeks without seeing you’ he whispered.
‘Charles, I’d love to’ you gushed. Leaning forward and pecking his cheek as he showed you a full dimpled smile.
‘Mom amour’ he said softly, almost to himself.
Two days later (and A LOT of sex later) you and Charles were on a private plane to Austin. Arthur had joined you as well. You nor Charles had told him anything, just the shit-eating grin he had told you both that he knew everything.
As Charles had drifted off to sleep on the long flight, Arthur came to sit next to you.
‘Y/N, I am so happy that you finally got what you wanted. I don’t know how it happened’ he made a face ‘nor do I want to know’ he winked ‘but I’m happy. For the both of you.’ He spoke in French.
‘Thank you Arthur, and thank you for always standing by me. I appreciate you’ you said as your hugged him.
You’d arrived in Austin the day before media activities were to take place. Charles told you he wanted to take you out for an ‘Official first date’ in his words.
He wouldn’t tell you where he was talking you - all he said was ‘dress smart, as you always do’.
This time, you opted for a midi black dress that had a sexy slit on the side. You paired it with a stunning pair of black heels and decided on an up-do for your hair.
As Charles waited for you in the living room of your suite, he nearly choked on his breathe upon seeing you.
‘You know, maybe we should skip dinner. Just go straight to dessert’ he cussed in French as he approached you.
‘Charles! No. I’m very hungry and you owe me a ‘date’’ you told him.
‘Fine, but I might get arrested for public indecency’ he scoffed behind you as your closed your hotel door.
Of course, he rented a Ferrari for your time in Austin. As you settled in the car, his left hand graced your thigh the whole way to the restaurant. He tried, but failed, to get his fingers to enter your lacy panties.
Dinner was amazing. He really picked well. You chatted about everything and nothing at the same time.
Just as your were finishing actual dessert, an idea popped into your head. You excused yourself to go to the bathroom.
You don’t know where the confidence came from, you quickly removed your panties and scrunched them up in your hand. You topped up on your lipstick, and walked back to Charles with some swagger. He smiled as he saw you approach him. You held out your hand as he opened his to take what you were giving him.
When he checked what you gave him, his eyes widened in surprise.
‘Merde’ he muttered. You quickly noticed he was very ansty from then on. Mission accomplished, you thought to yourself.
Needless to say, Charles couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel. He fucked you in the car. Or rather- he made you ride him. It’s safe to say it was the hottest sex the two of you had had til today. The way his dick filled you up was no joke, especially with the limited space to move around. You were flush against him. Your nipple was in his mouth. His fingers were playing your clit. You were pulling his hair, surely leaving marks on his neck. It was hot. You moaned in unison as you came while he still slammed his thick cock into you. A few seconds later ‘fuck Y/N I’m cuming’
You stayed in your positions as you both caught your breathe. Gently kissing each other. Just as your lifted yourself up to let Charles pull out, he ordered you to open your mouth.
‘Open your pretty mouth Cherie’ he whispered. But not softly. It was harsh. You did as you were told, as Charles let his spit dangle from his mouth down into yours. The things this man comes up with. He is incredible.
Back at the hotel, you came a second, third and fourth time. This time though, not only from his cock, but from his tongue, fingers and wait for it-the shower head combo again.
Austin was an amazing race for Charles, and so was Mexico. It all came down to Brazil.
As you entered the paddock with Charles (not as a couple, yet) you couldn’t help but feel excited.
That quickly changed as you both entered the Ferrari garage and saw a familiar face. One you hoped you wouldn’t see so soon. You froze next to Charles, as you felt his face keep switching between you and the woman before you. She came up to you both and hugged him. But what caused you to shiver was the way her fingers ruffled through his hair. And he let her. You just looked at he both of them. It was like he forgot you were right beside him or something.
‘Y/N’ he started but before he could continue, you walked away. You needed some air. What is his ex doing here. Why did he let her touch him like that.
You walked through the paddock until you found a secluded area that hardly had any people. You sat down and tried to calm your breathing.
Maybe you read the whole situation. Maybe he was playing a game with you. But at the same time, he told you he loved you.
You stayed away for the remainder of the day. Charles and Arthur had called you multiple times but you told them you just need space as you returned to the hotel.
Quality was a disaster for Charles. He was started P10 for the race. You didn’t want to add to his problems because you knew he would be beating himself up for doing so bad, but at the same time your life and relationship was no joke.
He walked into your room around 7pm to find you sitting on the couch staring at the tv. He could tell you had being crying.
‘Y/N, please let me explain. What you saw was nothing. I don’t even know why or how she even was there. I guess I didn’t pull away because I was just as shocked as you were. But please believe me there is absolutely nothing going on between us. The last time I spoke to her was two weeks before we got together. I love you and only you. No-one can tell you otherwise’ he said as he sat next to you and took your hand into his.
You felt him wipe away a few tears you didn’t know were even falling.
He took your face in your hands and gentle caressed it.
‘I’m sorry if I over-reacted, but it was so hard to see the two of your together again. You sobbed into him and he hugged you.
‘And I’m sorry I caused you more stress, for not doing well in quail’
‘Whatever’ he said. ‘You will always be first’ he kissed your forehead.
Tonight was the first night since you got together that you hadn’t had some sexual activities with Charles. You just cuddled and fell asleep in each other’s arms.
The next few weeks went in a blur. Things were good with Charles, and before you knew it, it was time for the Leclerc's annual Christmas party again.
As you walked into their house hand in hand, you couldn't help but think back to a year ago. You were still pining over Charles, and he was pining over someone else. But that was then. This time, you were still pining for him, but he was yours, and finally, he was actually pining for you.
He took you up to his childhood bedroom before attacking your lips with his.
'Char,' you tried to say but he quickly swallowed your words by sticking his tongue down your throat.
'Shhhh, lets just be in the moment,' he said as he started to unzip your dress from the back.
You shimmied out of it while he got rid of his own clothes. He was not surprised to find out without any underwear.
'My girl' he smiled as he carried you to his bed and gently laid you down.
He opened your legs to find you like Niagra Falls. Juices already spilling out of you.
Confused, he looked at you.
'Are you already this wet, for me?'
'I'm always wet for you Char, you just found out sooner rather than later tonight'
He flashed you his dimpled-smile.
'I love you, and your juice, baby'
You didn't have time to say it back. He attacked your pussy with his lips. Licking and sucking, eventually sinking two fingers.
'Oh Charles, yes' you panted as you grabbed onto his bed sheets , trying to suppress your moans so no-one would hear what the two of you were up to. He continued his slaughter until you were practically shaking and whimpering underneath him.
'Fuck me' was all you could say as he bought his lips up to yours, pulling you in for a messy kiss. Cum and spit certainty ruining your makeup.
'That's the plan, amour' he said as you rolled him over so now your ass was sitting his obnoxiously large dick. You made out with him some more until you couldn't take it anymore. You needed to feel him in you.
You didn't even take off his pants or boxers properly - you practically pulled his dick out and wasting to time, you sank down on him.
Groaning in unison, Charles sat up and moved the two of you to the end of the bed. His mouth latched onto your boobs while he met up halfway to fuck into you. Once again, the room was filled with obscene sounds - bodies slamming into each other. Juices squeezes between the two of you, Charles' mouth sucking on your nipples, you panting and trying to catch a breath, moaning, and a splutter of french curses leaving his mouth.
Just as you were reaching you high, both your bodies' froze.
''Charles,' his mother knocked on his door. 'Are you inside?' she asked.
As much as you wanted , no needed, to moan, you couldn't hold back a giggle into Charles' neck.
'Yes maman, I'll be down just now' he tried, hoping she would leave.
But of course, she didn't.
'I really need to talk to you, I'm coming in' he said, oblivious to the fact that her son was fucking into his childhood friend-now girlfriend- like there was no tomorrow.
'NO! maman' but it was too late.
She walked in, to find you sat on her childs' lap, boobs in his face, while Charles looked at her with wide eyes. You, you couldn't find the courage to look back at her, so you simply hid your face in Charles' neck.
The room was silent for two seconds until Pascale finally came to terms to what she walked in on'.
'Oh my god, Charles, OH MY GOD Ý/N' she shut her eyes. 'I didn't see anything, I didn't see anything' she all but screamed, while Charles was still in pure shock, neither of you comprehending what was happening.
'Oh wow, I've waited for this day for so long. Oh no, not like that. I mean I've waited for the two of you to FINALLY accept your love for one another.' You and Charles both stayed silent. What is happening right now?
'When neither of you said anything, again, Pascale whispered, rather loudly, ' You know I think I'm gonna go now. I'll leave you two. But please don'' be long, we've got a dinner to host.' and with that she closed the door.
'Fuck me'
'I....wow. I have no words' he stared at you, heart still racing from getting caught.
You laughed into his shoulder.
Slowly, he started a good rhythm again.
'Fuck, Y/N, you don't know what you do to me' he said through gritted teeth, still making you bounce up and done his shaft.
'Char I'm close, please' you moaned into his ear as his thumb found your clit and started rubbing circles and within seconds you came undone, walls clenching around his dick.
'Merde' he all but shouted as he felt himself spill into you, both your bodies shaking from the high.
You slowly felt your movements come to a halt. Content to just give yourselves a few minutes to come back to earth.
Little giggles filled the air as you both recounted the events of the last 20 or so minutes.
'I don't know how I'm gonna look at your mum again' you shyly told Charles.
'I don't know how the fuck I'm going to. I really hope she hasn't told anyone what she walked in on. We'd never hear the end of it' he said giggling back to you.
You quickly cleaned yourselves up and made yourselves look presentable again.
Hand in hand you walked back downstairs, just in time for the arrival of the other dinner guests. You parents included.
Pascale just smiled at you and Charles whenever she made eye contact with the two of you.
The evening was filled with good food, good wine, dancing and a lot of curious eyes.
As the night was coming to an end, you and Charles bid farewell to everyone and drove off in his pista.
'Well that was an eventful evening' you cooed to him.
The roads were quiet at this time of the night-or early morning. He stopped at the side of the road and got out of the car.
He walked around your side and helped you out the pista. You took a short walk to the edge of the hill, and overlooked Monaco-how beautiful she looked all lit up.
'It's beautiful' you whispered, more to yourself, as Charles wrapped his arms around you from behind.
'It is, not more beautiful than you though, mon amour' he said as he kissed your cheek.
You smiled as you held onto his hands and squeezed them.
'Move in with me' he suddenly said. We already spend almost ALL of our time together, either at your place or mine, so why not make it permanent' he said, kissing your cheek again.
You couldn't smile a bigger smile.
'Char, I'd love that' you said, turning around so you could give him a proper kiss this time. Nothing sexual, just pure love. You ended sitting on a near by bench, just basking in each others presence and the love you had for one-another.
Things had progressed well from then-on.
You'd moved in with Charles, graced each and every corner of his apartment with unbelievably good sex, attended as many races as you could. And before you know it your one year anniversary was coming up, when you'd be in Belgium for the GP.
You were due to join Charles in Belgium in a few days.
But today you woke up feeling man down. You met Carmen, George's girlfriend for lunch but halfway through you had to excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and be sick.
Must be something you ate, you thought.
Wrong.
You were so wrong.
Carmen lightly suggested you take a pregnancy test, then it hit you. It was no secret that you and Charles had A LOT of sex. A lot of unprotected sex. You were both clean, and you were on birth control. But you should have realized sooner that its not always going to do its job to the max, especially with the amount you fucked. And now that you think out it, you have been feeling low of energy the whole week.
'Shit' you muttered to yourself. You and Charles hadn't really talked about when you'd have kids. It was more of a 'yes, we definitely want kids, in the future.' Not near future.
Carmen drove you to the pharmacy and picked up a few different brands of tests just to make sure they were consistent. Back home, she waited for you in the lounge, while you took the tests.
By now you were hyperventilating. What if they come out to be positive and Charles doesn't want it at this point of his life? What if he pushes you away too?
'Okay, calm down,' you told yourself. 'You'll be okay. You and Charles will be okay' you whispered.
You peed on the 3 sticks, and then came the waiting game. It felt like time was frozen.
The longest 3 minutes of your life, when your phone buzzed with a message from Charles: 'I can't wait to see you baby xx' That put a smile on your face and warmed you up a little bit.
Until you timer went off. Bracing yourself, you gave yourself another small pep-talk, and finally checked the tests.
Positive Positive Positive
'Pickles' you mumbled, but you couldn't keep a smile off your face.
You needed to figure out what to say to Charles. You needed to prepare yourself for happy tears or sad tears.
As you arrived in Belgium, two days later, it was also the day of your anniversary.
As soon as you got to your shared room with Charles that morning he had pulled you in and his lips were on yours instantly.
'You're finally here mon amour' he mumbled as his tongue fought yours for dominance.
'Happy Anniversary baby' you said as you pulled away and hugged him as tight as you could.
'Happy Anniversary Y/N, I love you more than life.'
His words warmed your nerves. There was no way there were going to be sad tears when you told him. Right? You could only hope and pray so.
Since media duties for the race only started tomorrow, the day started with a good round of lazy sex and a beautiful bouquet of flowers from your boyfriend. Charles then took you on an unofficial tour of the city. He'd been here for 4 GPs now, so he had a couple of his favorite spots that he wanted to show you.
You had a lovely lunch at a tapas bar and then the afternoon was filled with more touring. You were glad today was a better day and you weren't feeling so ill.
You'd decided to tell Charles the news after dinner tonight. To make it a bit special, you had a onesie made in red that had a picture of a Ferarri and 'Baby Leclerc' written on it.
Dinner was lavish. He took you to an expensive restaurant meaning you dressed extremely smart with a black satin dress that showed your curved off in the most delicious way. It was no doubt that you would forgo any underwear today. Although once you told him the news and shed happy tears, you would go and change into some teeny lingerie for him.
As you got back to the hotel room, you told Charles you needed to talk to him, just as he was about to pounce on you. He said the serious look in your face and immediately backed away. He got so worried so you had to reassure him that everything was fine and it was nothing bad.
You made him sit on the couch while you went to get his gift.
Handing him the gift bag he couldn't take his eyes off of you.
He smiled and started to open it up.
By now your heart was pumping out of your body and you were shaking.
You bit your lip as he finally took the onesie out and looked at it, with a puzzled expression.
Then, he looked at your with wide eyes. You just gave him a smile.
Then his dimples flashed out at you. 'Y/N, is this for real? Are we actually having a baby?' he talked in quick French.
'Oui, we are, Charles'
He quickly pulled you in for the tightest hug.
'Oh my god, i can't believe it' he cooed in your neck.
Then he bought his hands down to your stomach and gently rubbed it, tears stinging his eyes and yours.
Pulling back, he had a brightest smile.
'Y/N you are such an incredible person. I can't tell you how happy you make me' he said, pulling you in again, this time for a kiss.
He breaks away to look that the onesie again, smiled growing impossibly bigger.
As you watched him, you wondered how you ever let yourself think Charles would be unhappy.
'I'll be back' you mumbled as you went to the bathroom to quickly change into your lacy black lingerie.
When you walked out and Charles looked you - let's just say he would die a happy man right now.
'Fuck me. What did i ever do to deserve you?' he said as he stood up and made a beeline to you.
He pushed you to the bathroom door and kissed you. He kissed you like there was no tomorrow. Full of passion. Full of love. And full of lust.
You opened your mouth to him and he explored all of your mouth, sucking into your bottom lip before giving you a small bite.
Quickly though, he removed himself from your hold and lowered down to his knees. He touched you stomach again and started talking.
'Hi baby, it's you daddy here.' he whispered, pecking your tummy.
'Mummy is keeping you safe, and i can only hope you turn out to be as amazing as she is. I love you so much, even though i just learnt about you not 10 minutes ago' kissing you stomach again.
You giggled at his words before pulling him to stand up again.
'He, or she, is only the size of a a grape right now' you told him.
'Grape or orange, i love them all the same. And i love you Y/N, so much'
'i love you too, my Charlie. I am so incredibly happy right now. I could burst' you told him.
'Oh non, please don't burst now' he laughed before his lips were on yours again.
'Wait, is it safe for us to have sex? Oh my god we had sex this morning. Are you ok? Is the baby okay?'
You all but giggled. 'Of course its safe my love. Plus, i am incredibly horny'
He didn't need to be told twice. He scooped you off your feet and set yow down on the bed.
'Let me show you how much i love you. Oh and i'm definitely fucking you with this still on, but another day' he said, pointing towards your lingerie. He quickly removed it before settling himself between you legs, aiming himself at your cunt.
He licked a warm strip up your pussy before sucking on your clit.
'Oh Charles. Fuck. You're amazing' you moaned while tugging on his hair.
'Cherie, you are the amazing one. Merde' he whispered before sinking two fingers into you.
It didn't take long to reach your first orgasm. He continued to finger fuck before you tried to move away.
'Need to feel you in me, Charles. Please. Please fuck me'
'A bit eager today, are we?' he smirked
'You fucking better get used to it. These hormones are not playing anymore' you laughed as he settled his weight on you.
He gently slid in and set a slow pace.
'Charles?' 'Hmm?' ha answered.
'I said fuck me. Not make love to me'
And so he did. He slammed into you. Filling you up so perfectly.
'Y/N' he breathed. 'You're so tight. Clenching around me so nicely. Fuck'
His thumb found your clit and you cried out. Your orgasm fast approaching. Charles as well finished rather quickly today. His warm cum feeling better than ever.
As you slowed down and both came down from you high, he slowly slid out of you.
As you looked down on him you noticed something.
'Char, you're still so hard' you said with a shocked face.
'Y/N, you don't know how turned on i still am' he said, almost shyly.
'Oh my god, please fuck me again. But this time i want to taste you, so finish in my mouth' you said as you both quickly found your places again.
You certainly were sore and sensitive, but you still couldn't get enough of him.
In no time you were crashing down again.
'Fuck, Charles' you moaned into his ear.
You quickly felt him pull out and place his feet on the floor as you sat up and took his dick into your hands.
He held you hair out of your face as you took him into your mouth and started bopping your head up and down.
'Fuck Y/N. Yes baby. Fuck' he all but screamed as he emptied himself to the back of your throat.
You swallowed everything you could.
You both tried to catch you breath as he sat back down on the bed and took you into his arms.
You were so overwhelmed. Now, you were crying.
'Are you okay Y/N? Did i hurt you? Shit, I heard you'
He barely held in a laugh. 'No Char, you didn't. I'm just so happy. I love you and out life so much.'
He kissed your forehead.
'I've never been happier my baby'
He got up to get a cloth to clean you both up the settled back into bed.
He pulled you to his side and just cuddled you.
'I love you, and happy anniversary amour'
'Love you too Char. Happy anniversary''' you replied back.
He kissed you. Long and soft. And you both were so excited for the rest of our lives together.
THE END.
Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed it!

Also who here knows how to make the masterlist thingymajobs? Because I don't and I want to make one
Chapter 2
A scream shattered the silence and my hand was up in the air before I even knew what I was doing as I uttered those four dreaded words.
“I volunteer as tribute!”
The second I said them Lysander was practically jumping in delight, a grin spread across his face as wide as can be as he proclaimed loudly.
“I believe we have a volunteer.” I stepped forward, ignoring the shocked looks Annie and Mags were throwing my way. Lysander babbled on and on for a few minutes about ‘how exciting for a victor to volunteer’, how ‘he was sure none of the other districts would have tributes’. I felt like throwing up, looking out into a sea of faces, most of them open mouthed, a few simply confused as if wondering who the hell I even was. I saw a couple of people who I used to know, refusing to meet my eyes. My ballet shoes hung by my side, a heavy weight pulling down, anchoring me to reality as my mind drifted.
I turned to Lysander and gave him a pathetic attempt at a smile, lips tilting upwards slightly, a flash of white teeth for a second. “Please,” he said, “Shake hands.”
I didn't realise what he said until Finnick stepped forward and held out his hand to me. My eyebrows furrowed and I bit my lip, twisting the sleeves of my cardigan again, holding out my other arm to hold his hand loosely before pulling it back quickly as I felt my mark burn slightly. He looked confused for a moment before his expression cleared and he put on a charming smile, waving to the crowd. As for me, I stood there silently, chewing on my lip worriedly, wondering why I volunteered, why I didn't even hesitate.
“Your tributes for the 75th annual Hunger Games!” Lysander yelled to the crowd over their obedient clapping as peacekeepers pointed guns at them, threatening to shoot. All of a sudden we were herded off stage and I was dragged to the same room I had been in all those years ago, the paint still peeling, a splintered chair and table on dusty stone. I took a few steps in and collapsed on the floor, chest heaving as I tried to take in deep breaths. I curled my hands into fists, nails cutting into the soft skin of my hands, a few tears dripping down my face but I heard heavy footsteps down the corridor and quickly composed myself, brushing away the tears and standing up, elegantly sitting down in the chair as the door opened. Mags walked in, escorted by a guard who muttered.
“Five minutes.” And closed the door behind him. Mags stared at me for a second before walking over and placing a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at her and she mouthed one word. Why?
I smiled slightly as I answered.
“She doesn't deserve to die. She needs to live and I'll do everything I can to get Finnick out and back to her.” Mags looked confused so I rolled up my sleeve and showed her my wrist. “He's my soulmate,” she blinked quickly and I continued,”And he doesn't love me but he loves her and they deserve to live.” She looked angry and somehow managed to croak out a few words.
“What about you?” I patted her hand, standing up and looking out the window.
“I don't matter, I just want him to be safe and sound. I want him to be happy, even if it's not with me.” She looked at me pityingly, brown eyes filled with emotion as she folded me into her arms; I broke down, sobbing silently into her shoulder, tears soaking the fabric. “I just can't let him die, not if I can do something about it.” I managed to get out between hiccuping sobs and sniffles. She comforted me gently, stroking my hair with wrinkled hands and all too soon it was time for her to go.
The door swung open and Mags scurried out before they could drag her away, the last thing I saw of her was her long grey hair before another person walked in and the door was slammed shut behind them. Annie stood in front of me. Long auburn hair tangled, sea green eyes gazing at me curiously. She took in my puffy eyes and red face streaked with tears saying nothing as she kneeled down and took my hands in hers.
“Why did you do that?” She asked quietly, not looking me in the eye, “Why would you give up your life?”
“We aren't so dissimilar you and I.” I spoke, removing my hands from hers and laying them on my knees. “The games,” my voice cracked,”The games left us both broken beyond belief. The difference between us is that you had someone there to build you back up after you came out. I didn't. Or I did, but they didn't care enough to stay. We've both been dropped and shattered on impact but you've been fixed, mostly, the cracks are still there and with the right push it'll all come crashing down. But me, I've got nobody and nothing left, everyone left me to crumble to pieces as if I would just be fine, but I'm not, I'm just a pile of broken glass waiting for someone to finally care and put me back together. So I volunteered. Because you have everything to lose; I’ve got nothing left.” Annie said nothing, just watched me carefully,
“I'll get Finnick out for you,” I whispered,”You don't have to worry about him. I promise.” The door opened and she was led out, throwing a last glance over her shoulder at me, a strange look in her eyes as if she knew something I didn’t.
I was left alone to my thoughts again. Wrapping the ribbons of my shoes around my hands repetitively. Wondering what it would be like this time around. Would I even have a chance at survival? I dismissed that one immediately, with victors like the ones from districts 1 and 2, plus Katniss and Peeta from last year, I wasn't getting out alive. I was good but not that good. I could throw knives perfectly, fight in hand to hand combat and tie complex knots with lengths of rope, I was even half decent at using a bow and arrow. But compared to others I was weak.
The door creaked open again but this time no one entered except some peacekeepers in their white uniforms and masks, they dragged me out, gloved hands twisting my skin. I shook my arms out of their hold and glared at them, they let me loose and marched me along the corridor to the exit where a car would be waiting. They opened the side door and pushed me in. My head knocked against the metal and I hissed in annoyance but said nothing. The car pulled away from the justice building and I stared out at it for the last time, the carved marble flawless and perfect but oh so cold. My eyes trailed over the shapes of people outside, cheering my name; screaming for the games to stop. They hadn't even known who I was before, why did they care now? Why did they care just as I was sent off to my death once again? Why did they care when all they had ever done was pretend I didn't exist?
How could they stand there and scream my name, their beloved victor, when they had never before known me? How dare they pretend to care about me. How dare they think I wanted this. How dare they congratulate me on my actions when the choice didn't even exist to begin with. In those moments I was filled with nothing but disgust for the people of my district. We were supposed to be united against the Capitol yet here they were excited for me to go back in. Granted there was the idea that if they didn't then they would be made an example of by peacekeepers for not complying with orders. But behind every forced action there is a planted seed that was simply nurtured to form the fully fledged evil.
I sighed, propping my head up on my hand as we entered the station, reporters from the Capitol waiting for the chance to get a shot of Finnick or I. We jolted to a stop and Finnick stepped calmly out of the car in front, waving to people, giving them his charming smile, playing up to his persona as the Capitol darling. I took a deep breath as he disappeared from sight, people screaming for one last look at him, and pushed down the handle to open the door. I stepped out and was immediately assaulted by loud noises, too loud. They ripped through my skull and I flinched while I walked along the pathway that was cleared for me. They screamed my name and they wouldn't stop, it echoed in my head, their voices like nails as they raked down the walls I had built up in my mind to block out the bad and keep the good close. The peacekeepers surrounded my shaking form, tiny compared to the crowds gathered; herded me to the platform where the train was waiting. Sleek and silver, like a bullet, and just as fast as one.
I stumbled over the gap where the platform ended and the train doors opened, allowing me to topple to the floor in a graceless heap. I groaned and sat up, pressing a hand to the side of my head and frowning in annoyance as I felt the slightest of bruises there. My feet slipped out of my sandals so I picked them up in one hand alongside my pointe shoes and pushed myself to a standing position leaning on the wall of the train. I took a minute to calm myself, mentally preparing for the interesting conversation that was sure to come when I walked into the next compartment. I dropped my head forwards and wiped a hand over my face before sighing and reaching out to the handle, pushing it down.
I stepped in and three sets of eyes locked on me, standing awkwardly in the doorway.
“Hi.” I cleared my throat and they resumed their conversation. I relaxed in relief and dropped into a chair at the table, immediately reaching out for a plate. I filled it with all kinds of foods, meat, pasta, vegetables and more. A luxury I couldn't bring myself to afford with the money I had won, food I tended to steer clear of because in my mind it belonged to the Capitol and eating it made me one of them. But I figured I was going to die soon so I might as well indulge while I could. I speared a piece of fish and potato and it was halfway to my mouth when I noticed eyes on me again. Lysander was giving me a look of wonder as he leaned forwards onto his hands.
“So Y/N, tell me why did you volunteer? We need to know so we can spin this story to give you the best chance of winning that we can you see.” He smiled and bit into a leg of chicken, tearing the meat away with his teeth. My mind blanked, I couldn't exactly tell him the real reason I volunteered, that would not go down well with the current company, I glanced over to Finnick and my eyes widened as our eyes connected for a split second before I snapped my gaze back to my plate. I shrugged my shoulders and shoved the food in my mouth. Lysander’s mouth twisted into a scowl at my disregard for him and Mags, seated next to him, smiled down at her plate.
I swallowed my food and sipped on water in a glass next to me before I answered his question
“I didn't want her to die.” He spluttered in delight.
“I can work with that. A story of two best friends, one worried for the other's safety so she volunteers to save her from certain death.” I shook my head at his words.
“No. We aren't friends. I just didn't think she deserved to die and that's the only story you're going to tell.”
“But, but, but,” Lysander stammered under my glare.
“But nothing,” I said calmly, “There is no story, I volunteered because I felt sorry for her, nothing more nothing less. Now if you'll excuse me,” I shoved the chair back and stood up, “I'm going to my room and I don't want to see you, until morning.” With that I stormed out of the compartment, slamming the door shut behind me, rattling the ornaments and pictures hanging on the walls. My footsteps were heavy as I almost ran along the corridor, I finally reached the door I wanted and stared at it, remembering how seven years ago I had stood in the exact same spot.
My thoughts were pretty different about being in the Hunger Games now. Back then I had had no choice so it was just an unfortunate circumstance I found myself in with the added threat of death. Now it was more of an actual game and I suppose that was the point, throw previous victors into an arena together, seasoned killers, guaranteed chaos would ensue. They'd have the perfect show, death upon death that would look interesting and be absolutely brutal because the executioners would all know what they were doing. It would be the most viewed year of the games in history. They’d be making hunters into performers, fighting to stay alive for the cameras. Doing anything to gain sponsors. It wouldn’t surprise me if some people went too far. But most of all, we’d be angry. Angry that we had to go back, they’d promised we were done and now it seemed they lied.
I pushed the door open and stepped into the room. It smelled of fresh peaches and vanilla, the white bedsheet pulled tightly across the mattress, light green comforter spread across the duvet. I gently closed the door behind me and threw my sandals on the floor. I leapt onto the bed, sinking into the mountain of pillows piled up near the headboard. A headboard engraved with swirls of waves and shells to represent district 4, I looked closer and on every wave was a set of initials and a date, the initials of every other district 4 tribute in the history of the games and the date they were reaped. A tradition upheld by every new victim. I traced over my initials on one of the waves and picked up the knife I had taken a few minutes ago, I picked a new wave and ripped into it, my initials carved as deeply as possible. A message that I was not going easy. I would go but I would fight every step of the way.
I chucked the knife down and admired my handiwork. I was no artist but if I were this would be my best piece. Rolling over I stood up and made my way to the wardrobe. Opening it I found an assortment of clothes and night dresses. I picked out a white one that fell loosely to my knees and pulled my pointe shoes on, tying the ribbons around my ankles and standing up. Humming a song, I rose onto my toes, hands lifting above my head as I twirled around, the skirt floating around me. I kicked one leg into the air, leaning to the other side and bringing my arms close to my body, curving them in. I danced for what seemed like hours, lost in a world of my own as I spun around in circles, sweeping my arms above my head and out in front of me. Finally growing dizzy I stopped, one foot turned out in front of me, the other pointed behind me as I let my arms drop slowly to my side, my humming stopped and I opened my eyes. Remembering the reason I was here, to help Finnick. All urge to dance left me as I quietly undid the knotted ribbons, pulling the shoes off and staring at my feet, blistered and bruised. Plasters taped on them to stop the cuts being infected. I climbed into the bed, pulling the sheets over my body, shivering as the cold fabric touched my skin and then burrowing further into the warmth it provided. I yanked the comforter closer. Rubbing my cheek on the fluffy material, hand reaching out to turn off the lights, switch just in reach making a sharp clicking sound as I flipped it. My eyes started to drift closed in the darkness, my limbs tired from the exhausting day and I fell into dark oblivion.

The flight from Washington DC to Dallas is just over three hours long and you had agreed that it would be better to leave early in the morning on Saturday to arrive at his family's compound before lunchtime. The last two weeks have been a dream as you and Marcus spend basically all of your extra time together, sharing dinners after work and alternating beds for overnight stays. He's even come to his first Friday Night Dinner with your family, which makes it all the more appropriate that you're now flying with him to meet his.
Airline points used, Marcus was well aware that on a commercial flight, Agent Bailey would be much more comfortable with First Class and boarding the plane last. Allowing for the rest of the plane to embark so they were not filing past her and you. Now that the flight is closed and you are settled into your seat, he looks over at you with a smile. "Ready for chaos?" He asks playfully, picking up your hand. "My family is....energetic."
“I’m excited,” you assure him. You’re also nervous, but that’s natural. His big family is having their annual springtime get together for the start of baseball season and — according to Marcus — this is the biggest Pike family get together of the year. It’s a week of pickup games with his cousins, big family meals, revisiting old favorite haunts, and catching up on life. It used to be a way to help distract Marcus and his Mom as his Dad started out the new season every year and started traveling, but now it’s just their favorite reason to get together.
“Don’t feel like you have to do anything you don’t feel like.” Marcus insists. “Plenty of times half the cousins or wives and husbands end up in the stands watching and shit talking.”
“Baby if you think I’m not playing at least one game, you’re nuts.” Marcus has been so sweet about reassuring you and making sure you know nothing is expected of you on this trip, but frankly it just sounds like fun. Like the kind of happy chaos that is a complete break from your normal life.
He flashes you a grin. “I was hoping you’d say that.” He admits shamelessly. “After the games, we grill out or eat whatever we threw on the smoker that morning.” He shrugs. “It’s a party the entire time.”
“I’m looking forward to it.” You have been, and you are, and seeing him get excited would make the whole thing worth it even if you weren’t.
“Everyone is excited to meet you.” He promises. “Oh and mom asked if you had any allergies? Food or otherwise?” He shoots you a sheepish grin. “Forgot to ask.”
“Nothing at all. I’ll eat anything you put in front of me and sniff whatever weird Texas plants you guys have got.” A teasing grin counters his embarrassed one. “My brother and I did a campaign stop in Texas; I don’t think there was anything too sniffly in Austin. But I know the state is big.”
“Huge.” He snorts, smirking slightly. “You know what they say. ‘Everything’s bigger in Texas’.” He jokes.
"Oh yeah?" The smirk that forms on your face is immediate and you lean over to nudge his shoulder. "Is that how you grew up so big?"
“Not that big.” He chuckles. “My cousins – the males – are bigger.”
Snorting slightly, you can't help but laugh as you nudge Marcus again. "That sounds painful."
“Shit.” Marcus chokes and shakes his head. “I didn’t mean that.”
"Well good," you're still laughing, juvenile sense of humor on full display even if you're quiet. "Otherwise I'd feel bad for their spouses."
He snorts and leans into press his lips to yours. “I’m the biggest.” He boasts, completely lying and he winks to acknowledge that. Not like him and his cousins have compared…since before puberty.
"Naughty." It's chastising, but you giggle as you steal another kiss as you both settle back in your seats for a short but comfortable flight.
Marcus hums as the flight attendant comes by. “Do you want a mimosa?” He asks softly. “Start our vacation off right?”
"Why not? Let's have a fancy flight." First class is already a bit of an extravagance, and you smile at the flight attendant gratefully. They are well aware of who is on board – Agent Bailey had background checks run on the flight crew as a precaution – and discreetly point out your agent to the gentleman. "And a cup of coffee for the woman in the suit right over there? She'll say she doesn't want anything but I know she'd love a cup right about now."
“Yes madam.” He nods and smiles back at you, finding it refreshing that you aren’t over demanding like some political figures. One asshole really set his teeth on edge last month.
"Thank you so much." The last thing you want to do is make a fuss for the flight crew, and you sit back with Marcus's hand in yours. As nervous as you might be, this is going to be a good week.
“Anywhere you want to see in particular?” Marcus asks, stretching his legs in the extra space the first row gives you. “We don’t have to rent a car. Although I know Agent Bailey will want one of the Secret Service vehicles to follow.
"I want to see whatever you want to show me. Any place you used to hang out when you were growing up, or favorite local places, or even places you've never been that you've always wanted to go." It's his hometown, after all, even if he wasn't born there. Texas is where he became the Marcus that you know and love.
“There’s a band that’s playing Friday night.” Marcus tells you. “At the bar where I used to play.” He chuckles. “It’s my old bandmates.”
"One hundred percent." Your agreement is absolutely instant and there is a giant smile on your face. "No contest. It will be the perfect way to spend our last night in Dallas. Well...last night for now. I know we'll come back plenty of times."
“Awesome.” His grin is wide, happy that you would want to listen to some music and hang out. Potentially meeting old friends. “Then that’s what we’ll do. You’ll like the place.”
"I'll love it." Just like everything else this week, you're looking forward to it because it's something that you'll share with him. It's the early memories of your relationship, as you share the things with each other that made you who you are.
Tumblr media
The family compound is exactly that. A compound. Built during the first contract with the Yankees, Pike’s Place as it was fondly referred to, had started out as a way for Marcus’s dad to build the retirement home of his parents’ dreams and ended up being the multi-generational property it is today.
There are more than a half dozen buildings in the property, a large pool and a garden, and even their own personal baseball diamond. It’s like having a resort built specifically for his family. Stuck smack in the middle between a ranch to the south and another large family property to the north, no one would even have any idea that neighbors existed around here if they weren’t told about it.
The main house is a beautiful American Craftsman-style building with a deep front porch and a swing out front, painted bold blue and white against the yellow Texas sun. Matthew and Donna Pike’s house is well-appointed but far bigger than it looks on the outside, and all around it is a stunning garden that they keep together as a shared hobby. The backyard sprawls on endlessly, but for right now you can see more cars than people. It looks like everyone is congregating with Uncle Matt and Aunt Donna.
Marcus’s smile gets visibly wider the closer you get and when the car stops, he’s almost vibrating with joy. He’s not nervous at all, knowing that his entire family will adore you. “Are you ready?” He asks again, not even waiting to the reply before he is shooting out of the car to open the door for you.
“You didn’t tell me you grew up in the cutest place on Earth,” you tease happily, practically giggling at how picturesque it is as you get out of the rental car.
“It’s home.” He looks around the property proudly. “Even when we were living somewhere else because of dad’s job, this was always home.”
“It’s beautiful.” You squeeze into his side and grin back at Agent Bailey as she gets out of the second rental car. “I hope you get to relax a little while we’re down here, too. It’s got to be a hell of a nice change of pace from looking at the inn every day.”
Agent Bailey notes the fence that seems to stretch around the property with approval. “We might be more secure here.”
“Glad to hear it.” Anything that makes her more comfortable is more than okay with you. With as hard as she works, she deserves to be able relax whenever she can.
“Dad installed a fence when he had some fans come up to the house when he was on an away trip.” Marcus explains. They had done one of those ‘where the star athletes live’ things in the Sports Illustrated magazine and someone figured out where it was.” He shakes his head. “Dad was furious, and the compound got an upgrade.”
“Sounds like a solid response to me,” the Secret Service agent agrees as she looks around the property.
“Although, he does open the compound up for youth programs. Training, spending the day with baseball players.” Marcus smiles proudly.
“I love how proud of him you are.” You slip your hand into Marcus’s again and give him a beaming smile. “Time for the chaos, baby. Let’s do it.”
Marcus laughs as the two of you hear the playful shouts from the backyard. The little welcoming barbecue that your father had insisted on was already in full swing. He can’t wait to see how you take all of his cousins and nieces and nephews wearing name tags.
It only takes about a second before someone notices you, letting out a boisterous shout across the yard and garden. “Well, looky what the cat dragged in!”
“Charlie.” Marcus leans in to tell you as every head turns your way. “First cousin from my mom’s side. Can’t believe he’s the first one.”
“Is Charlie not usually this friendly?” You ask under your breath, smiling and waving as more and more heads turn your way.
“Just…unobservant.” Marcus hums, smiling wider when his mother drops her platter of finger foods on a table and rushes forward. “You made it!”
Dr. Donna Pike is a tall woman with a wide smile and honey brown eyes, but right now her most noticeable feature is her long arms which reach out to fold out her only son like a protective mama bird. "Flight was okay?" She asks, smiling at Marcus's nod before she shifts over to hug you in turn.
When she had been told that Marcus had found his soulmate, she had been thrilled. Not because he had to be with his soulmate, she wasn’t narrow minded like that, but because he’s always had so much love to give. She can only hope that you will do well receiving it and return a fraction of it back to him. The others hadn’t seen how pure his heart is. She says your name and squeezes you tight. “How are you? It’s such a delight to meet you.”
"Thank you for having me." Her hands are on your shoulder and it's instantly obvious where Marcus's beaming smile comes from. "I've heard so many wonderful things from Marcus about his family, I'm really excited to meet everyone."
“Well if anyone is too much, or we all are, you just tell us to go away.” She snorts, shooting you a grin. “We are a bit much as a collective.”
"I promise my threshold for much is very high." It has to be, with the kind of people that are always around political figures, but this week is not about you. You do smile again, though, and urge Agent Bailey to come closer than her usual three steps away. "And thank you for understanding that things are not very conventional for me right now. This is Agent Bailey. She's my duty agent and an absolutely superb human."
Donna smiles at the agent, although she doesn’t attempt to hug her. Aware that it might be deemed as threatening. “She is also extremely welcomed.” She nods and offers her hand. “I hope you can relax and have some fun as well, Agent Bailey. We have a comfortable room set up for you at the top of the stairs, just down the hall from them.”
"Thank you, Dr. Pike." Agent Bailey accepts the handshake gratefully. Some people perceive her presence as threatening and that just isn't the case. Especially not here.
“Please, call me Donna.” She insists. “Now, we’ve told the children they are not to ask about your gun, but I do hope that you will change out of your suit into more weather appropriate clothes?” She asks. “Texas is too hot for bespoke all day.”
Agent Bailey actually laughs at that, and you smile when she nods. "I'll be dressed down while I'm here, don't worry about that. Being conspicuous doesn't do much good in protection most of the time."
“Good.” Marcus’s mother smiles. “I’ve also taken the liberty of moving Marcus’s gun safe into your room. For when you are needing to secure it.” She frowns and looks towards Marcus. “Did you bring your own, sweetheart? I didn’t think to ask.”
"Very kind of you, ma'am, but not necessary." Agent Bailey assures her. "I have a portal safe in my luggage. Agent Pike also has his firearm so we'll both be secure and safe that way."
“Told you.” Matthew Pike snakes his arm around his wife and kisses her cheek. “Always overthinking. But I love it.”
"Precautions are good, sweetheart," Donna reminds him, but she smiles.
Marcus and his father could be twins, except for the older man has more pronounced wrinkles from a career spent in the sun. “So this is the gorgeous creature the universe paired you with?” He unwinds his arm from around his own soulmate to pull his son into a bear hug. “Aren’t you a lucky man?”
"I swore I was only going to do this once while we were here." Standing beside Marcus and practically vibrating, you know you probably look silly but you don't care. "Mr. Pike, I am a huge fan and I promise there will be no more fangirling from this point on, but I just wanted to say that once."
There’s a grin that matches his son’s, currently on both of the Pike men’s faces. “Marcus….she has taste.” He teases, winking at you and pulling you in for a hug. “You can fangirl all you like, sweetheart.”
“I’m just very excited to be here,” you admit, laughing as you hug your soulmate’s father in turn. “Marcus…he’s absolutely amazing. I hope you’re as proud of him as he is of both of you.”
“More-so.” Matthew promises, already liking you. “Although, let’s get you settled and a first drink in your hand before we introduce you to everyone else, hm?”
You and Marcus follow his parents through the house and Agent Bailey notes the features of the house with interest but doesn’t interfere. So far, everything is straight forward. She just hopes it stays that way. For your sake.
The tour of the house is easy. A large, open concept main living area is perfect for entertaining, and lines of sight. “Our bedroom is downstairs.” Donna explains. “So you kids will have the top floor to yourselves. Everyone else is staying in the bunkhouse this trip.”
The bunkhouse, as it has been explained to you, is the largest building on the compound which basically amounts to a Pike family motel. Plenty of parking and plenty of rooms to stay in makes it the place that is customarily occupied by Marcus's enormous brood of cousins. "And I'm sure Marcus told you," Matthew glances back at you as the five of you walk together. "But the basement is a game room. Foosball table, game systems, all that kind of thing."
“I was going to show her.” Marcus admits with a shrug. “But she’s bowled in the White House, I doubt our game room would impress her.”
"You are seriously underestimating my love of foosball," you assure Marcus. "I'm terrible at it, but I love it."
“Don’t worry.” Matthew chuckles. “My son excels at pool but cannot figure out a foosball table.”
"Then we can be terrible together," you decide, thankfully garnering a laugh from both Marcus and his parents.
“Which will be a lot of fun.” Marcus chuckles. “When bad weather rolls through, we enjoy the game room and there are people everywhere.” He warns. “One time, we had a checkers tournament, so all the little kids could be involved too.”
The group of you stop in the kitchen for large glasses of sweet tea, and Agent Bailey excuses herself to bring her things upstairs and change into some more civilian-oriented clothes. There are pictures of the family all around the house, but none as prevalent as the pictures of Marcus. His graduations, his triumphs, and some absolutely adorable childhood photos adorn the walls of the house, and you smile at every single one. At one time his wedding picture must have hung on these walls too, or other pictures of him and Lara, and for a moment your heart clenches with regret that he was ever hurt but swells with the knowledge that he’ll never be hurt like that again. The next wedding pictures on these walls will be of you with him, and those will never be coming down.
“Home sweet home.” Marcus hums, watching you take in the space that he had mostly grown up in.
“Ready kids?” Matthew Pike chuckles, opening the sliding kitchen doors to the backyard with great ceremony.
“Don’t worry.” Marcus quickly assures you. “Everyone has had their rabies shots. So they aren’t as feral as they seem.”
For all the teasing, the hugs from his cousins are immediate. They descend on you like a swarm of eager birds, flapping their wings and chattering away as they all introduce themselves and say how happy they are to see Marcus and to meet you.
Marcus smiles at every one of them. Greets them like long lost friends, which they are. They are the friends of his entire childhood and he's happy to introduce you.
A man wearing a name tag that marks him as Uncle Rob holds up two more name tags proudly — one emblazoned Marcus and the other Birdie. “Marcus told us you prefer your nickname,” his father explains with a grin.
“It’s perfect,” you assure them, taking the name tag with a bursting heart. “Absolutely perfect.”
“Uncle Rob is a treasure.” Marcus tells you as he is pulled into a hug and slaps his uncle’s back.
"Uncle Rob is his mother's younger brother," the man clarifies with a happy grin. "Four of the cousins are ours, but I won't quiz you on the family tree just yet."
"I appreciate that." Your laugh of acknowledgement comes easily. "But I've been studying, I promise."
Marcus laughs, knowing how worried you had been over this visit, and it seems as if you are blending in well. He reaches out and squeezes your hip affectionately. “She’s a quick study.”
"Probably mandatory." One of his cousins – her nametag says Selena – teases as she offers you a hug. "Can't imagine the way family debates go when your Mom is the President."
"They're....active." You admit with another laugh. The hug is readily accepted, too. Pikes are apparently very huggy people. "I'm just glad we don't have to come up with opening and closing arguments."
She laughs and nods. “No, but here you might be asked the ERA or RBI stats of anyone you are a ‘fan’ of.” She advises. “So beware.”
"I can absolutely handle stats." For some reason Selena's energy is a lot more calm and reassuring than some of the other cousins, and you feel a little more at ease with her at the moment. "Most of the time I've got those on lock even when nobody's asked."
“How do you take your hotdog?” She asks, narrowing her eyes playfully. “Get it right and we can be friends.”
"It's not gonna be what you want it to be," you laugh, though you do appreciate the way Selena measures her new acquaintances. "I'm from Philly, so pepper hash and spicy mustard."
Her frown is replaced by a smirk and she nods. “You didn’t say ketchup, so you’re good in my book.” She smirks, eyeing Marcus who is huffing and rolling his eyes. “I don’t claim her.” He snorts.
"Too bad," you tease back, looping your arm through his cousin's. "She's delightful and I'm adopting her immediately."
“She’s not housebroken.” He warns, ducking the playful swat she aims towards him.
"Neither is my brother, and we let him into the White House," you snort, laughing even harder when Selena snickers.
Matthew chuckles and he pats his son on the shoulder. “Too late now, son, Selena has charmed her.” He advises.
"I steal hearts," the woman beside you jokes, throwing you an exaggerated wink. "My parents named me after Selena Kyle. It's not my fault."
“Last year you said you were named after Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.” He reminds her with a grin, slapping away her hand again and tapping her chin fondly. “You were lying?” Of course she was, considering she was nine when Selena rose to fame.
"You should keep the Catwoman reference," you advise her with a grin. "Mysterious and nerdy. Very sexy choices."
“See?” Selena smugly grins at Marcus. “Your soulmate has taste.”
Marcus can’t help but grin at that. “So I keep hearing.”
“I have the very best taste.” You agree with that assessment wholeheartedly, leaning back over to Marcus to kiss his cheek.
That makes him laugh quietly and he leans in to hug Selena. “You do. Especially in soulmates.” He teases.
“Oh no.” Pretending to be grossed out, Selena rolls her eyes dramatically but is smiling fully at seeing her cousin happy. “Did you finally find someone as gross as you are when you’re in love?”
“Grosser.” Marcus hums, grinning at you lovingly. “My perfect match.”
“Stop hogging them!” A voice calls out from halfway down the yard, and yet another of Marcus’s smiling cousins can be seen lounging on a picnic table. “We all need to get our annual harassment in, ya know!”
“Oh god.” Marcus hangs his head, even as he laughs. He knows everything is in good fun and he will be harassing them right back.
Thank god for the nametags. You'd be utterly lost without them, even after the flashcards you made for yourself with permission from Marcus to scout his Facebook page for photos of his family. There are just too many of them. The conversations swirl and so do the introductions, but Marcus sticks with you. By the time everyone starts eating the conversation dies down a little and you find yourself at a table with Marcus, his parents, Selena, and her twin sister Harper. Plates of barbecue and cold salads come with fresh glasses of cold sweet tea or cans of soda, and the most relaxed atmosphere of chaos you've been in the middle of in a long time. In your book, this is vastly preferable to a State dinner.
“So what do you think?” Even Agent Bailey has a plate and a drink in her hand, talking to Rodger, one of his dad’s oldest friends. He always comes to these weeks. “She’s gonna relax some?”
"Seems like it." The sight of Agent Bailey socializing is like a miracle to you. A unicorn in real life if ever you saw one. "Any chance your Dad's friend is a beer guy? I found out last week that Agent Bailey brews her own as a hobby and I am endlessly fascinated by all the niche hobbies I keep finding out she has."
Marcus chuckles. “Rodger owns the brewery that supplies the Rangers with the Pike’s Pints.” He explains. “So he’s kind of a renaissance man when it comes to beer.”
"So she has a new best friend?" You laugh, leaning into his side as you eat. "That's fantastic. I hope she has some new ideas to be excited about by the time the week is out."
“My question is this…when does she have time?” He asks, shaking his head. “She’s always with you.”
"I don't think she sleeps." It's a question you've asked yourself plenty of times, but have yet to find an answer. "Apparently she has a dog and a husband and everything? A whole damn life. I'm so glad that doing the job she does hasn't kept her from it."
“Holy shit.” He snorts and looks back at the woman in question with more than slight admiration. “She’s a superhero.”
"She really is." There's no denying that whatsoever.
The meal progresses and his mother smiles at you. “So please, tell me about your inn.” She insists. “Marcus said that you have created a beautiful oasis.”
"It's my happy place." The question – and the description – make you beam. "And...sort of my first child, as well. I bought it from the previous owners a few years ago and my best friend runs the restaurant. It's a beautiful historical property in Alexandria, just outside of DC."
“It sounds like it’s your baby.” She smiles happily and nods. “He has had nothing but praise for it, and you, since his first phone call.”
"He's been wonderfully supportive. I couldn't ask for a more understanding or helpful partner." You do flash him a grin, though, and decide to rat him out to his mother just a tiny bit. "I do think the restaurant is at least half the reason he spends so much time there, though. It's amazing."
“He has always led with his stomach.” Donna snorts, shooting you a conspiratorial grin. “When he was a teen, he was always starving.” She intones dramatically.
"Isn't that how all teenage boys are made?" The laugh you share isn't at his expense, just shared amusement, and you pick up your sandwich again. "At least, my brother was always that way. I swear he ate six meals a day from ages twelve to twenty."
Marcus laughs and Donna rolls her eyes. “Marcus still sometimes eats six meals a day.” She snorts. “At least that’s the way it sounds when he calls. Always snacking.”
“That’s probably my fault these days,” you admit with a guilty grin. “I’m a snacker. Maybe that’s just another fun little quirk in the broad scheme of things.”
“I just have to run more.” Marcus chuckles, picking up a pickle spear and biting it in half. “So I can still beat everyone here stealing second.”
“We’ll see.” Selena narrows her eyes at him in challenge. “I’ve been training.”
“Oh you have, have you?” Marcus snorts and winks at his cousin. “Twenty bucks says I steal more bases than you.”
“Fine,” Selena shrugs, smirking as she leans back in her seat. “I’ll be out there stealing more hearts, anyway.”
“I’ve already got the heart I want.” Marcus informs her, picking up your hand and kissing the back of it dramatically.
“I love you, too.” Over the weeks, the promise has become stronger between the two of you and little daydreams about the future don’t seem so far off anymore — though you haven’t really planned anything beyond agreeing that you want to be together.
"See?" He smirks towards Selena with a fluttering of his lashes. "She loves me, so I am complete."
“You’re completely gross and I’m very happy for you,” Selena teases back. “You’ll have the picturesque wedding you always dreamed of, and a million kids, and make an east coast version of Pike Place.”
"Ohhhhh." He tilts his head curiously as he looks back at you. "Modern day Kennedy Compound?" He suggests. "Our version of Hyannis Port at the inn?"
“That’s a lot bigger than a little colonial cottage at the back of the grounds,” you remind him, but the idea makes your chest swell with absolute love. “But I think if we build at the back of the property we could do a bigger house and get away with it. People wouldn’t even be able to tell the two are connected.”
He smiles at the idea. "We will have to find out who owns the property adjoining yours." He hums. "Expand."
“So you’re already talking about a family, then?” His father, obviously enamored of the thought, smiles broadly. His son has always been a family man, even when that definition just meant his best friends were his cousins.
"We are planning out a lot of things." Marcus admits with a grin, unable to contain the happiness at the idea. "Not sure when that's going to happen, but we are on the same page."
“Maybe sometime before we’re too old and gray to travel all the way to DC?” Matthew jokes, although he’s only half joking.
You groan quietly and Marcus smirks as he looks at you expectantly. "Told you." He laughs. "You said your parents would be first, but I knew it was going to be mine."
“I’m still shocked my Dad didn’t bring it up at dinner last night,” you admit. You had been absolutely certain that your folks would use Friday night dinner as a chance to interview you about your intentions as a couple.
"I'm sure he wanted to." He laughs. "But we've classified that as Need To Know." He jokes.
“That may be the only way to survive with them.” Still, you can’t help but let the smile grow on your face. “By their standards, we’re taking positively forever.”
"I guess that means we should just run off to Vegas and get married." Marcus teases with a wink. "Really mess with their expectations."
“We would have four parents very upset with us,” you remind him. Every time you joke about getting married or have a little daydream it just sounds better and better, but you would never push him to elope. His family means to much to him, just like yours does to you.
"Yes they would." Donna points her fork at him playfully. "I don't care how you get married, I just want to be there."
“Yes ma’am.” That gets an instant agreement from you — not at all ready to set the precedence of going against your future mother-in-law about something like this.
"Good." She smiles in approval and smirks at her husband. "We will clear our schedules whenever they decide on a date."
"Well," you laugh, leaning into Marcus's side. "I guess you were right about not needing to worry over their approval."
“The fact that I love you is all my parents ever need to know.” He smiles and Matthew nods. “Marcus has a good head on his shoulders and a heart of gold. With you being his soulmate, you have to be the same.”

For dinner on your second night in Texas, Marcus promises to take care of everything and disappears with a grin on his face while his mother and Selena take you on a long walk around the large gardens of the compound. Anticipating a little girl talk and some bonding with his family, you had readily agreed.
“So how are you liking Texas, Birdie?” Donna asks curiously as the three of you stroll in the warm morning. You have been a dream to have visit and it’s obvious that you adore Marcus, so she has loved you being here. She just wants to make sure the feeling is mutual.
“It’s beautiful.” It’s not too hot yet, being the beginning of April, and walking around the compound is a nice way to settle in and work off the big breakfast everyone had this morning. “I’ve only been here once before and this is far less stressful.”
“I am sure the campaign trail was never relaxing.” She sympathizes softly. “Although, if you have to take up the trail again, we can offer you a respite from the questions and prying wherever we can.” With being her baby’s soulmate, she will be just as protective over you.
“I’m sure when re-election comes, I’ll be volunteering to come to Texas again just to be able to see my in-laws.” The thought is actually relaxing, to be able to take respite with such kind people, but the in-laws part excites you a bit.
“In-laws.” She beams when you say that. “Now I promise I won’t insist that you call me ‘mother’ or anything, but I hope that we can be friends.”
“Let’s start with Donna and Birdie and go from there,” you suggest, smiling just as broadly as she is. “I absolutely want us to be friends. Marcus loves you all so much and I know it means the world to him.”
“He is our only child, and we want him to be happy.” She promises. “But that doesn’t mean smothering him or not letting him live his life.” She laughs. “Matthew almost had a heart attack when he came home one break to find Marcus with shoulder length hair and an earring. But he never said a word.”
“Oh, please tell me you have pictures of that.” Marcus had told you about his long hair phase, but claimed no photos remained. You’ve been hoping that his parents have one tucked away somewhere.
Donna grins. “I have them all.” She promises. “Snuck them up to the attic before he could burn them.”
“He looks like the nerdiest member of Nirvana,” Selena snorts, giggling with the jovial malice only family can truly master.
“He was…too polite to really pull off the grunge look.” Donna admits, smiling at Selena’s almost evil outlook.
“He’s such a sweetheart.” There are hearts in your eyes when you say it and you don’t care to hide them one bit. “It’s—he’s better than I could have dreamed of for myself. Truly.”
“I have to confess….” Donna looks out over the gardens and sighs. “I have been so very worried about Marcus. He’s is such a loving man. He always has been, from the time he was a baby. But when he called me to say he had discovered his soulmate…” she looks back at you. “I was so very afraid that you wouldn’t understand his heart.”
“How do you mean?” She obvious cares for her son very deeply, and you do want to make sure that the relationship you have with her is honest. No misunderstandings if you can help it — which means asking for clarification. “Because he’s so giving and quick to jump in headfirst?”
“Yes….and no.” She admits. “Marcus is….well, he’s a caretaker. A fixer. You have a problem, he comes up with a solution. You feel tired and down, he will take some of your burden and try to cheer you up.” She sighs softly. “Oftentimes, so many women have been conditioned to be strong, independent, so they view that as misogyny or finding them helpless. It’s insulting to them and they resent him for it.”
“They don’t understand that offering care is his way of being supportive. It’s not that he doesn’t think they can do it themselves, it’s that he views being helpful as a romantic gesture as much as anything else.” You nod, understanding that entirely. “I think the hardest part for Marcus and me right now is that we’re both like that a lot of the time. Which means we’re constantly doing little fixes or giving little gifts or making little gestures. We’re still finding the balance.”
“That makes me feel better.” She admits with a smile. “You understand his need in doing it.”
“He wants me to know I don’t have to do it alone,” you acknowledge, offering her a smile as you walk. “And I want to make sure he knows the same.”
“You two truly are soulmates.” She chuckles. “And I have never been more happy to say those words.”
“Just as happy as I am to hear them, I promise you.” Stopping in your steady tracks, you touch her arm gently and offer her a slightly more serious look. “A lot of people interpreted the things I said on the campaign trail to mean that I’m against soulmates, but I’m absolutely not. I just don’t think anyone should be discriminated against for who they love. Anyone, and unfortunately a lot of people still believe only soulmates should be able to get married.”
“Those people…in my most professional opinion…” Donna snorts. “Are assholes.”
“Agreed.” You nod your head but Selena snorts at her aunts phrasing as the three of you start walking again.
“Do you have any specific plans while you are here?” Donna asks, curious if you had wanted to spend the entire time at the compound.
“I want to see whatever Marcus wants to show me.” It seems like an easy answer, but honestly you’re just here to meet his family and spent time with your soulmate. Anything more is a bonus. “Or anything you guys have in mind. I just…” you shrug in admission. “I never take vacations. So I’m reminding myself not to worry about work and trying to relax.”
“A workaholic.” She smirks slightly. “Something I’m very well-versed in.” She teases.
"Can't exactly stop yourself from taking work home with you when you live at work," you admit with a grin.
“As long as it’s work you love, I don’t see a problem with it.” Donna tells you.
"I really do." They already know that, of course, from how much and how proudly you talk about the inn. But still, you're beaming. "Marcus suggested we look at building our house on the property since I already own it, and I think it's only going to be a little while before we start in on that plan."
Building something together is something that Donna highly approves of. She nods. “Word of advice?” She offers with a smirk. “Have a general contractor negotiate any and all disagreements.”
"Noted," you agree instantly, knowing that Marcus's parents have a whole lifetime of experience in this particular area.
“It will solve a lot of arguments.” She rolls her eyes and laughs. “Over tile size!”
When Selena snorts out a laugh you have to suppose it's a family joke or at least and a family story, and you laugh too. "It's always something small, isn't it?"
“Yep.” She shakes her head and laughs. “One fight was about if the dishwasher should be on the left or right side of the sink.” She huffs. “Matthew rarely loaded the dishwasher, but thought that it continuously unfair to live in a right handed world as a leftie.” She rolls her eyes again, although it’s more amusement than annoyance.
Small things always seem large when they're under the microscope, and you can see how those things could get out of hand. But fortunately, from what you and Marcus have talked about so far, you're mostly on the same page right from the start. "I can see us tussling over little things pretty easily, but I think it will all turn out pretty well in the end. It's definitely a solid way to work through our skills in compromise and communication, though."
“Marcus knows how to communicate.” She promises. “He’s good at it, and if he’s not, I’ll give you free sessions.” She jokes, knowing the last thing any couple would want is to have an in-law involved.
"You'll be glad to hear that I have an excellent therapist to help me handle stressors and any manner of other unexpected event in my life that I need extra help in processing." The importance of simply having an impartial third party is not lost on you, but having a professionally trained and educated one is all the more important when possible stressors could include death threats sent to your family members.
“Very glad.” She nods and reaches out to pat your hand gently. “You are under a lot of pressure. That is obvious.”
"When we get back I have a meeting at the White House." Though you shudder for dramatic emphasis, it is unnerving. Those meetings about social outreach and the image of the First Family had gone well for Junie and Alex but since you're fairly certain what your mother will ask of you, you're dreading it.
“If you ever want to talk, just to vent, you can call me.” Donna offers softly. “Not in a professional capacity, although anything you say would be kept between us.”
"I really appreciate that." It's not something she has to offer. Not at all. But you're so grateful that your soulmate's parents have so far turned out to be wonderful people.
“Of course.” You might not take her up on the offer, but she wanted to extend it.
"And I hope you know you're always welcome in DC. Anytime, no hesitations." You swing back to grin at Selena on your other side. "You too. We could use another partner in crime."
“I am absolutely going to come visit.” Donna promised, and Selena nods eagerly. “Me too! I want to see this inn.”
"If you want to come and stay there, I'll have a word with the owner," you joke, and throw in a wink.
“And the food.” Donna insists. “Marcus has raved about your best friend, Sydney.”
"She's an absolute goddess." You promise them both. Building up your friends and loved ones is always easy for you. "Just the most talented chef you could possibly imagine. And an amazing person, to boot."
“She has to be.” Selena isn’t joking this time. “Marcus doesn’t waste time on people who aren’t amazing.” Now she gives a small, preening grin. “Which is why he loves me so much.” She jokes.
“I know what it is.” After about one full day of hanging out with Selena, you’ve narrowed down why it is that you are so comfortable with her, and it makes you laugh endlessly. “You’re exactly halfway between my best friend and my brother. Who are two of my top three favourite people in the world, despite the crap I give my little brother on a daily basis.”
“That sounds like a high compliment if I’ve ever heard one.” She laughs. “I’m the little sister Marcus never wished he had.”
“He loves all of you like siblings.” Even if he hadn’t said so explicitly, it’s easy to tell.
“We grew up together.” She agrees. “Even if we lived apart, summers together were important. Holidays spent driving each other and our parents crazy.” There’s a fond smile on her face. “Hopefully our kids will experience the same things.”
“I hope so, too.” The idea head settled into your bones and made you sunny with daydreams. “My siblings’ kids, too. The biggest family we can possibly make for them, since we never had any cousins growing up.”
“Pikes tend to assimilate the families that join them.” Donna shoots you a grin. “They are like the Borg.”
“That’s how we collected friends when I was a kid,” you laugh. The Pikes are definitely not like the Borg — they all feel far too much for that and you adore it. “Make friends with one of the three of us and suddenly you were just another family member.”
“That sounds familiar.” Selena snorts. “We love having people around. The more the merrier.”
“Absolutely.” The morning sun has hit the top of the sky but it’s not too hot, just making you stop warding off the crisp breeze as it disappears into a mellow midday.
“If you don’t mind me asking…” Selena hesitates. “There was some talk about you dating a Congressman?”
There it is. You were wondering how long it would take someone to ask the very fair question. At least it’s Selena and not Cousin Terry’s wife Hannah who seems to distrust you purely for being the daughter of a politician. Which…is also fair…just not a stereotype that applies to you personally. “I was. For almost a year. I was still seeing him when Marcus and I met, but…” you shrug your shoulders a little, with honesty in the sheepishness. “I fell in love with Marcus so fast, and so deeply. Even if he hadn’t turned out to be my soulmate, I still would have ended things with my ex.”
“I didn’t want to pry, I just hadn’t seen anything about a break up and wanted to know if you were ‘public’ yet.” Selena reassures you. “There’s already been a message in the family chat about not posting while we are here on social media. So we don’t potentially ‘out’ your relationship.”
“It will be out by Easter.” Breathing a sigh of relief isn’t subtle, so you swallow it down and simply tighten your smile into an affirmative. “He’s coming to the Easter Egg Roll at the White House with me. After that, just…try to be conscious of people asking about family photos? If you’ve got ones with Marcus and me in them, we’ll just ask everyone to keep them private. You know, friends only.”
“We are used to that.” She nods and sends you a smile. “We’ve got your back. Don’t worry. No one here is going to judge you. Besides Hannah.” She snorts. “And let’s be honest, she’s a bitch.” Donna chokes out a laugh, quickly smothered, and swats at Selena’s butt from behind you. “Selena!” She scolds, obviously still trying not to laugh.
“Oh.” This time the relief whooshes out of you, but you end up laughing. “So it’s not just me?”
“Hannah is…the least comfortable with the easy, familial closeness of our family.” Donna snorts. “When she first started coming, there was an…accusation.” She hums delicately.
“What could poss—” As soon as your mind spins on it for long enough to actually ask the question, your mouth falls open in horror. “Oh my god! That’s—obviously, obviously I don’t think that. Please know that I have never ever thought that.”
“You don’t think I’m sleeping with Terry?” Selena snorts. “Thank God!”
“No, I definitely do not think you’re sleeping with your first cousin,” you laugh but still shudder.
“Apparently, Hannah doesn’t believe men and women can be friends. Not even relatives.” Selena shrugs. “So if it seems like all the female cousins keep their distance from Terry, it’s not because he’s a pervert. He’s actually amazing. His soulmate is just fucking nuts.”
“Got it.” Even though you flash a thumbs up in acknowledgment, all you can think of is how glad you are that Marcus didn’t stay with Vanessa. She would have hated this for the exact same reason. Probably been Hannah’s only ally.
“Hannah isn’t all bad.” Donna adds, trying to soften it some. “Just….a little…set in her ways. But honestly, this is the only time of year they come. They rarely join other holidays.” She looks over at you. “And pleased don’t think that we expect you to come for every holiday, but we will invite you.”
“We’ll come as often as we can.” You can promise that easily, though you know sometimes he’ll have to work and you’ll have to be at official events with your family. “It…will be easier once my mother is out of office.”
“I understand.” Donna is well aware of the demands of public figures. She had to be seen at a certain number of games and it was her own personal mission to attend the post seasons games any time Matthews’s teams made it. “Just know that we want what is best for you.”
“And that is so much more appreciated than you could know.” Maybe she does. Maybe she understands every bit of it. But because you appreciate the honesty of the words from your soulmate’s mother so much more than you expected to, you leave the phrasing as it is. No stumbling or correcting.
Donna winks at you and links her arm through yours. “You and I are going to be good friends.” She predicts with a happy smile. Marcus is over the moon in love with you and from what she could see, you are much the same. There is nothing more than Donna could ever wish for her baby, to find a smart, loving, good person – and you fit that bill perfectly.

Most of the day is spent in the massive pool down by the bunkhouse, with a little day drinking and a whole lot of horsing around and even a little heckling when some of the cousins got into a competition over best diving form — which quickly degraded into silliest dive. Now it’s sunset, and you’ve thrown a shirt and shorts over your dried out swimsuit for Marcus’s surprise.
“Hey babe.” Marcus finds you again, smiling at the relaxed smile on your face and he hands you a new drink. “You look like you’ve had a good time.”
"Well howdy stranger!" A slight affectation in your voice is just to make him laugh, and you grin when it succeeds. "Where have you been all day? Did you have fun with your Dad?" Matthew Pike had disappeared after breakfast along with his son, and when you had remarked on it to Donna during your walk, she had just said not to worry.
“Of course.” He grins, unable to stop himself as he moves over to caress your neck. “I was taking care of a few things for tonight. Why? Did you miss me?”
"Every second." And you don't care who knows it either. You sit up in your chair and stretch a little more to kiss him, catching the fresh scent of the bodywash he favors as it mixes with his bergamot and musk cologne. He's fresh and clean and it makes you wonder what he's been up to as much as it makes you want to drag him up to his bedroom.
“Good.” He smirks against your lips and offers you his hand as he steps out of your sphere. “Come on.”
"Ooo, is it surprise time?" The look of delight on your face is undisguised as you readily take his hand to pop up from your seat. "I'm all yours."
“Yes you are.” He beams about that fact as he pulls you closer. “Say goodnight to everyone, Birdie.” He hums quietly. “We probably won’t see them again tonight.”
"Good night everybody!" You wave immediately, wrapping your arm around Marcus's waist and barely sparing a backward glance in favor of grinning up at him.
“Damn.” He whistles as he guides you away from the pool and over to the truck. He’s already talked to agent Bailey and cleared things with her, so he just nods as the two of you pass by.
“Damn what?” You pose, laughing a little as you wonder if he’s amused at how quickly you’re ready to leave just about anyone behind to spend time with him.
“I could be a kidnapper and you would just go willingly.” He teases, reaching out and tugging on your ear gently.
“You’d be the best looking kidnapper around and Agent Bailey would have a hell of a time bringing me home,” you tease, hopping into the pickup when he opens the passenger door for you.
“Yep, you have Stockholm Syndrome.” He teases, leaning in to steal one more kiss before he closes the door and hurries around the hood.
Once he’s back in the cab beside you, you flash him a grin. “Belle got a library, I got the softest dom in the whole world and awesome in-laws. I’m okay with it.”
“Softest dom?” He snorts, tilting his head while he tries, and fails to look offended. “I’m a hard dom.” He protests.
"How hard you fuck me when we get going is not what I mean," you clarify, settling into the corner of the seat as he starts to drive the two of you across the compound. "You have the softest heart in the world and I feel very lucky to be the one you've decided to give it to."
“I know.” He promises. “I was teasing. I want you to be happy, healthy and loved. That’s all I want.”
"I am. All three, absolutely." Leaning against his shoulder on the drive, you hum slightly and end up sounding a little sheepish as you look out the window. "I missed you today. Even though we weren't apart too long."
He chuckles slightly and lifts your hand to press a kiss to your knuckles and scrapes his teeth over the delicate skin. “I’ll show you how hard of a dom I am.” He teases. “I’ll put a collar on you.”
Not expected that reaction from him, you make a remarkably incoherent noise of interest and surprise before turning your head to look at him. "Don't tempt me with a good time, Pike."
He had been joking, but the way you react has him pausing. “Is that something you’re interested in?” He keeps the question casual, not wanting to seem like he’s pushing or judging, he’s doing neither.
"I always thought it sounded kind of sexy," you admit, wondering if he was just joking and not serious at all. "I mean it's not like...like something mandatory for me to be happy in a relationship, obviously. If--if you're not into that and at all and you were just joking—"
“Baby.” Marcus squeezes your hand. “Anything you are interested in is something we can talk about. If it’s an absolute no, then I’ll explain why. But I think it sounds kind of sexy too. Collars don’t have to be spiked dog collars where I pull you around on a leash and make you bark.” He snorts.
"A lot of day collars just look like cute little necklaces." Alright, you may or may not have done a little looking into it a few years ago with the guy you were seeing at the time. He was long gone now, but the idea had remained in your head. It was not something Sam would have gone for so it had never been brought up to him.
His brow ticks up, noting your interests and he hums. “They do.” He agrees. “Something sexy about being claimed, isn’t there?”
"Absolutely." He turns left at a pair of apple trees on the western part of the compound and keeps going, while you continue to snuggle next to him like a contented house cat. "I mean...I'm wearing a Pike family nametag. That's about as claimed as it gets."
“Not quite.” Marcus chuckles. “There’s definitely more claiming that can be done.”
"Is that a promise?" You tease, grin growing a little wider when he turns toward a tree line up ahead.
“Absolutely.” He follows the less worn paths through the trees, although it’s obvious from the tire marks through the grass road that someone has been there recently.
"So can I have a hint about where we're going?" This isn't a part of the property that you've been to yet and it's beautifully woodsy in a distinctly Southwestern way that you're finding fantastic.
“You’ll see.” The tree line gives way to clearing and Marcus smiles as the pond comes into view. “Right now.”
The little clearing in the trees is picture perfect. It looks more like a movie set than real life, the tree-lined pond ringed with fairy lights sitting side-by-side with a red and white checked gingham blanket and large picnic basket, and a small cooler to boot. "Baby," you sigh out the endearment excitedly. He knows you love surprises -- your family told him so -- but you weren't expecting anything. That, of course, it was makes surprises so wonderful.
“Now you know what I’ve been doing all day.” He tells you as the truck pulls to a stop close to the picnic sight. “Wanted to make this perfect.”
"It's gorgeous!" You breathe, practically squeaking with excitement as you turn to snuggle into his side as soon as he parks the truck. "Is this your old make out spot? Because if it is? It's an awesome choice."
“Maybe a few times?” Marcus shrugs his shoulders and gives you a boyish grin. “Not too many times.”
"Could make it one more." The exaggerated wink you aim at him makes both of you laugh. "If you wanted to, I mean."
“That was my evil plan.” Marcus admits without any remorse. “Bring you out here, woo you, make out with you.”
"Pretty good plan." Right about now he could undo your seatbelt and haul you into his lap in the truck and you wouldn't protest even for a second. "It's absolutely gorgeous, baby."
“Wanted to give you a special night.” He’s explains, unlatching his seatbelt so he can open the door and walk around to help you out.
“Every night with you is special.” As soon as you’re out of the truck you press in to kiss him, enjoying the lingering warmth of the early evening.
“So you’d rather go have dinner with everyone else than have a romantic picnic by the pond?” Marcus asks, reaching for the door handle. “We can go back…”
“Ohhhhh no.” You shake your head immediately. “We’re staying right here. In our perfect little oasis.”
“I thought you would say that.” Marcus chuckles as he takes your hand to guide you over to the blanket. “I brought wine, but we don’t have to drink anything stronger than lemonade.”
“Wine sounds nice.” You’ve been moderate in your drinking today, having two cups of water for every alcoholic beverage and making sure to eat, so you’re not worried about being too inebriated. “And very romantic, but I don’t ever doubt that from you.”
“Well. I know that it might not be the fanciest, but I wanted to make an effort.” He grins at your praise and both of you sit down on the checkered spread.
“You’re perfect level of fancy for me.” Once you sit down here starts to unpack things, and you fidget slightly on the blanket. “But…Speaking of…of that? I wondered if I could talk to you about an idea that I had.” The actual thought has been rolling around in your head for a while for uncomfortable reasons, but now that it’s Marcus it’s actually a nice thing you don’t mind dreaming about a little.
“Speaking of fancy….” He chuckles. “Alright. I’ll pour out the wine. You pitch me your idea and we will strategize.” He jokes as he opens the top to the wicker basket and produces two, picnic friendly wine glasses and sets them down to retrieve the wine from the cooler.
“Unless you had something else you wanted to talk about?” Maybe that’s what this beautiful picnic is and you’ve usurped the purpose of the night by jumping the gun, you can’t be sure.
“I’m wanting to talk about whatever you want, my love.” He promises as he uses the corkscrew to open the bottle.
“Very accommodating of you.” But that’s Marcus and you know it. Instead you focus on opening up the containers he’s packed away that are holding your dinner. “Do you remember I told you that my mother wants the three of us kids to all do…sort of…family publicity type stuff? Like Junie getting a dog and being willing to be public about it?”
“Yes.” He nods and pours out the wine into each glass. “You didn’t sound terribly enthusiastic about it, although you tried to put on a good front.”
“I’m not terribly enthusiastic about it.” You can admit that, especially to him. “Which is why I’m not sure if this idea is selfish or not.”
“Honey….” Marcus hands you the wine and takes the container with the cheese from you to open. “You are not a politician, you don’t seek the spotlight. Sharing yourself with the public in a way you need isn’t selfish.” He’s pretty much guessed that it has to be some idea about your relationship, and he’s okay with that.
“It’s selfish because it’s something I’m asking you to do with me.” The wine glass is cold in your hand, a soothing and grounding change from the warm day. Although now that the sun’s down it will be cool sooner rather than later. “Because I’m more comfortable and more confident with you beside me in that spotlight.”
“Whatever you need.” Marcus promises. “Undercover work was never exactly fun for me, and I’m out as a UA now that the picture of us dancing was posted in the papers.”
“I feel like I ought to apologize.” The wine he chose is fruity and dry, much more complex than you would but for yourself despite his claim that it’s not fancy.
“No, sweetheart, please don’t.” Marcus shakes his head. “I was aware pictures would be taken. It was my own choice. And I don’t regret it for a second.”
“I didn’t know art crimes required undercover work. Though I suppose it makes perfect sense now that I think about it.” And you’re definitely stalling, but you push it further by assembling a charcuterie bite from the containers around you.
“It’s rare, but I only took the last assignment where I went undercover was because I needed to get away after things ended with Teresa.” He explains.
"Well, you'll have nothing like that reason ever again." The idea of Marcus with a broken heart is too much to stomach, and the coping mechanism of assembling the perfect charcuterie bite for him now pushing the thought out of your mind.
“I know.” It’s freeing to know that you two are very much in the same pages. Despite the fact that being soulmates does guarantee happiness, you and him will do everything to make sure that your story is a good one.
"So...the thing I wanted to talk to you about..." Enough stalling. Time to be an adult. "Is not because I want to push you, or rush you, or anything like that. But...because I keep thinking about it and thinking that getting ahead of the curve is the only way to really control it, and controlling it will be so much less stressful and make half as much work in the long run."
You’re cute when you’re flustered, Marcus leans back on the blanket, completely relaxed as he takes a sip of his wine. “So are we talking televised wedding? Or just pictures?” He asks.
"We are not broadcasting the wedding." That's the point at which you draw the line, you already know that. It's too much. Too invasive even for a family in the public eye. "I was thinking more like...letting photos be released along the way. Like sharing engagement photos, or photos of dresses that I don't pick. Things like that?"
“I’m perfectly fine with that.” It’s an easy agreement, one that has him lifting a brow. “That was all?”
"Even if that includes sharing photos of your bachelor party or sitting down with a reporter yourself?" The fact that he's willing to agree to it so easily is utterly shocking to you, and you feel like you have to do your due diligence and double check. "Or even share part of the proposal?"
“Whatever you feel comfortable with.” Marcus agrees. “It’s like the family days at the parks or when mom and dad would have interviews.”
Sometimes you really do forget that he already has a frame of reference for all of this. That he understands being a family in the spotlight. You take a sip of your wine and build him another bite from the charcuterie containers, offering it to him with a grateful smile. "I love you. Completely. I really hope you know how grateful I am for you."
“Why don’t we plan to have photos released from our engagement, you and I can sit down with a reporter about the expectations of soulmates and politics. There can be a website for all this with links to charities or causes that you want to champion or bring to light?”
"I don't understand how you get even more perfect." When he takes the cracker from your hand you run a finger under his jaw and end up feeling heat in your cheeks all over again. "When we get back I'll talk to Mom and whoever from her team is supposed to be coordinating my media stuff. And..." That same hand of yours squeezes his knee gently. "This is not me trying to rush you into anything. I'm sure we'll get enthusiastic and rush all on our own."
“Us?” He feigns surprise and smirks slightly. “Maybe we will, maybe we will surprise ourselves.” He turns and kisses the palm of your hand. “But I doubt it.”
"I doubt it, too." It's a kiss from his lips that you want most, and lean forward to steal it without shame. "But I love that we're on the same page so easily."
“So after that birthday….um, debacle…” he makes a face. “Are you totally opposed to the idea of a surprise proposal or what?”
"As long as it's you proposing, a surprise is fine." Debacle is the right word, and you roll your eyes slightly. "I actually do love surprises. Mom told you that."
“You might have changed your mind.” The sun is setting and right on cue, the fairy lights that he had spent the majority of the day stringing around the pond come on.
The way you coo at the change in lighting is full of delight, and you lean into his side on the blanket with nothing short of delight on your face. "See this is why I love surprises. For things like this."
“I was hoping you would like it.” Marcus grins as you stare in loving awe of the lights as they play off the water and the sunset.
"You know...the back of the property at the inn has a little pond like this." You lean back against him and enjoy the view around you. "There's nothing around it really, so I haven't thought about putting a garden there or anything. But...it could be in the backyard of our house if we wanted it to."
“I think we could do that.” Marcus smirks and reaches out to touch the rim of his glass against yours. “Our own little escape.”
"And it's far enough back from the inn to soothe your very sweet concern over historically matching buildings." Which you love, but you don't want him to get so hung up on it that he ends up sacrificing another aspect of the house he might truly love.
“You have something else in mind?” He asks, wondering if you want something different for how you raise your children and where you live.
"I don't really know a hell of a lot about architectural styles," you admit. "I just don't want us to miss out on our dream house because we got stuck on making the buildings match. We can set our house back enough that it will have its own space."
“Any house that has you and our family in it is my dream house.” He promises, smiling at you happily.
"I love you, too." In a way that makes you feel like your heart is going to swell right out of your chest, but in the absolute best possible way.
“I know you do.” Marcus murmurs softly, wondering how he got so lucky with you. “I am a lucky man.”
Leaning back lets you kiss him, just a soft thing but tender and full of desire and promise before you pull back and smile at him softly. "I guess we're both lucky, then."
“Oh!” Marcus pulls out his phone, forgetting that he had programmed it and opens it up to the music app to start playing music. “Forgot that part.” He huffs. “Too eager to pour wine.”
You know even on the first song that it's a playlist of love songs. There is nothing more supremely on point for Marcus than a night like this, with all of the magic that he's infused into this beautiful little dinner. "I don't know how, but you keep making it better every second."
“That’s high praise.” He hums, putting together a bite for you and holding it out for you to eat. “I’ve enjoyed having you to spoil.”
“And you’re about the only person in the world I’ll ever let do it.” The admission comes with a laugh, and you place another soft kiss on his cheek. “Thank you for suggesting this trip, love.”
“I’m glad you got to come.” He admits with a smile as you take the offered bite and groan at the taste. “I know it was hard to take off last minute and I appreciate it. Next time we will have it planned better.”
“It’s less that it’s hard and more that I get very determined about being hands on,” you admit. “Malachi can run that place in his sleep during the day, and my managers are great. I just…always worry.”
“It’s your baby.” Marcus acknowledges easily. “It’s like a case for me. My team is incredibly proficient at their jobs, but if there is a stake out or some kind of op to be run, I like being there.”
“I’m grateful you understand.” Others hadn’t, and so the fact that Marcus is supportive of your need for work as well as your need for a family is very much appreciated. “And Sydney was joking about sending care packages to your stake outs if you wanted them, so I think your team is about to be very happy, too.”
“If she did, she would become an unofficial member of the team.” Marcus snorts. “They wouldn’t be happy with pizza anymore.”
“I’d have even more FBI agents on my doorstep,” you giggle at the image. “There’s already three of you, we’ll need to designate a dining room or something.”
“The Fed Room.” Marcus snorts, grinning at the idea. “It would never be empty.”
“Syd may have thrown a tiny bit of a fit when I told her I don’t want her to cater any of our wedding stuff,” you admit, cringing slightly as Marcus starts to open another round of containers from the picnic basket. “But she’s my best friend and will be my maid of honor. I want her there by my side, not stuck in the kitchen.”
“How about she can cater the engagement party?” Marcus suggests. “That way she’s involved but it’s not taking over her enjoying your wedding day.”
“I wasn’t even thinking about an engagement party.” The compromise makes you turn up your chin to look at him with wide, starry eyes. “It’s perfect. Just like you, love.”
“We have to have a party.” Marcus teases, kissing your nose. “The press can have the story of my proposal and the engagement party. That’s also a good way to keep our actual engagement to ourselves.”
“I’m so fucking glad you’re with me on this.” The honest laugh is stifled but full of relief as you lounge with him in the blanket. “I would never think of any of this and I’d just end up stressed out or going along with whatever anybody else planned to avoid having to think about it.”
“I will fix anything you ever ask me to.” Marcus promises. “But if you ever don’t like something, you never have to worry about me being upset by that.”
“And the same goes for you,” you promise him, with the same measure of seriousness in your eyes and honesty in your voice. “I hope you know that.”
“I know.” He picks up a grape to pop into his mouth. “You and I are very communicative.”
“I feel like I should apologize.” Your voice lowers slightly, the unsureness seeping through it.
“Why?” Marcus frowns slightly, not liking that comment at all. You have nothing to apologize for. He loves that the two of you are talking and planning your lives together.
“Past relationships…have not been as okay with my tendency to talk everything out at length.” It’s not something that you really ever planned on bringing up, since Marcus likes to dream and plan and plot like you do. But maybe it’s good that he knows, since it has slipped out without you meaning to. “I always felt like I was bothering them with it. And ended up apologizing a lot.”
He frowns even more, reaching out after he sets down to his wine glass and pulls you close. “Sweetheart, I want to talk things out. Even if it’s as mundane as brunch locations or if the entryway table should be moved.” He promises. “Please never feel like you should apologize. I want to hear everything you have to say.”
“You might regret saying that when I get going about the logistics of booking rooms for large parties.” It’s a decent attempt at a joke, even if it’s wry, and you lean into Marcus’s comforting warmth with a sigh. “I’m still getting used to the idea that you are as straight forward and wholeheartedly enthusiastic about this entire relationship as I am. It seems surreal but it’s too wonderful to be a dream, so I’m just doing my best to process the whole thing.”
“You process however you need to.” He kisses your forehead. “I’ll be right here to reassure you again. You’re my partner, my lover, and my friend.” He murmurs. “The most important person in the universe to me.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Depollute me, pretty baby,
Suck the rot right out of my bloodstream,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Under the chandeliers of the Great Hall, Finnick Odair is the sun.
Glittering as he waltzes between crowds of people; he is the centre of all attention. The flash of a smile there, a soft chuckle here, and it's enough to have the room hanging onto every word. He is honeysuckle and saccharine; stunning in his gilded suit; and it is all you can do to not stare.
You linger by the desserts table, in search of something edible. Piles of sickly sweet, oddly coloured food and yet none look like they wouldn't stab your throat on the way in. An ironic statement considering the company. Panem's most beautiful and wealthy all in one room; daggers behind their backs and expensive smiles. But you knew how it looked: the child of a senator refusing to make nice with the locals at her first gala. Half a dozen political players, actors, and the like had clawed over themselves to make a good impression with your mother - her vice-like grip around your arm. And every single one disappointed by the bumbling proctor she had thrown in her stead. You, dressed in a beautiful gown -  the latest in Cinna's collection - mimicking human interaction. None had the decency to even pretend to be interested.
Growing tired of awkward, stumbling conversation, you had resorted to hiding; in the corner of the hall, with the half-eaten cakes, where the workers came to gossip. Conversation with twice as much substance than the rest of the room. That's when you see him.
Finnick arrives late - of course he does - at  a lull in the night. From your vantage point, you see it all: elbows and whispers and manicured fingers dissecting his every move. When he shakes hands with a famous actress, the room erupts with: 'I wonder if they're dating? He's much too good for her…'. When he claps a hand on the back of a senator, good naturedly, they wonder: 'His ex? Have they made peace since the nasty breakup?'.
He was an enigma, and to say you weren't intrigued was wrong. You were not strong enough to resist the media frenzy surrounding Finnick Odair, Victor of the 65th annual games: handsome with his cropped sandy hair, high cheekbones and boyish vigor, despite it all. 7 years ago, he had captured the nation with his beauty, and grace. 7 years ago, you had watched not much younger than him, queasy at the sight. Your disdain for the games had started with him, you had to admit begrudgingly: how could someone so beautiful be forced into doing such ugly things? At fourteen? And how could the nation watch in awe?
You are brought back into the room by a sharp elbow at the ribs. A friend of yours; expectantly folds her arms in front of you.
"You're staring." she says, with a toothy grin. "You said you were immune, and now you're staring…"
You roll your eyes at Vonnie, quick to stuff a prickly treat into your mouth. Quickly, you flash pink tongue at her. "He's so shiny it's practically blinding. Hard to ignore."
She tries not to laugh, reserved when a group of socialites walk past. As soon as they leave, she splutters, "They seem to be ignoring you quite easily…"
Yeah, no shit. The older girl taps her fingers on the table, nervously, like she had something to say. She's dressed in an explosion of fabric: pink and purple and patterned, with a dusting of gold. Her hair is similarly styled, haphazard but regal. On you, you know it would look a mess; but on her, she looks like the models on the cover of Panem Weekly - leggy and striking and beautiful. You sigh into more desserts. They melt almost immediately; a trace of sugar and daydreams on your tongue.
"....do you think your mother would introduce us?"
Your eyes grow wide. "No… no…Vonnie, I will not make a fool of myself in front of Finnick Odair-"
"...but she would introduce us? Right? Right?"
Opening your mouth in protest, she's too quick for you; hooking her arm into yours and leading (dragging) you into the crowd. She flashes her stunning smile every now and then, throwing polite greetings like grenades with complete accuracy. You're at your mother's feet in no time at all.
A tight smile that doesn't reach her eyes. That's all she affords you before throwing you to the wolves. "-ah. Just the person I was looking for. Tell Minister Tragus about that outreach program you've been working on…"
An expectant beat passes, and then another. And another. Vonnie cuts in. "W-well we've been swamped in paperwork as of late trying to get it off the ground! But, Senator, your daughter has been absolutely amazing, never a day off, and poring over the legislature for a gap in the system. She reminds me of you, in that way," she looks at you warmly, and you squeeze her arm with thanks. "-oh, my name is Vonnie Dulaire, Professor-"
"Professor Dulaire's daughter. Or at least, one of them." your mother finishes dryly. She looks around seemingly preoccupied, looking for someone. Not 50m from where you all stand, she catches the eye of a man, who waves. "If you'll excuse me," She bows out, with a nod.
Hot on her heels, You and Vonnie follow. She stops momentarily, squinting accusingly at you. "You want something."
You stop to protest, but Vonnie interrupts. "Not want per se, but, uh, we were w-wondering if you had met Finnick… Mr Odair! And if you could… introduce us?" A quick nod behind her, and you try to back her up.
Her face is contorted, with a slight twitch at her eyebrow that tells you she's pissed, and you would get an earful when you got home. That smile again. The one she reserves for the cameras, that doesn't quite meet her eyes. She's tight-lipped and leads you towards the man that waved to her not long ago.
He's plump and jovial, with a handlebar mustache that curls up to the apples of his cheeks. Introducing himself as Finnick's manager, he stretches out a hand. You take it, and it's clammy with sweat. Vonnie is more outwardly enthusiastic, chattering about Finnick's most recent interview, and complimenting his style. She's good at making people feel at ease; conversation flowing like Panem’s finest ambrosia.
Your mother is curt when she steps away. She grabs your arm, squeezing cruelly. Imperceptibly, she breathes, "This is your chance to make a good impression. How many times must I tell you, this is a part of the job: you go the events, you suck up, you make appearances. Vonnie, the ditz, for God's sake is showing you up!" She pauses to take a glass of champagne from a passing waiter. From behind her flute, she continues.
"Everything I have done is for you. So you are not chained to a life with a husband you don't love and dithering children pawing at your skirt 24/7. Politics or no, you must play the game, my love-"
"I need some air." Your voice crackles. You don't look her in the eye as you walk away.
~~~
Away from the swirling lights, music and bustle, the night air is cool on your skin. You're on a balcony, tucked away from the gala, leaning over the edge with a small packed pipe in hand. It's the one thing about the ballgown you were grateful for; it's size made it easy to hide things in the tulle or the waistband. In your case, a beat up old pipe and lighter. You take a drag; and float on the moonlight that streams in.
20 minutes go by and you're still not ready to go back in.
The double doors open, to a man dressed in gold with his head in his hands. He slumps over the crowned railing and breathes in and out; erratic and shallow. Gentle sobs, barely audible. From this angle, he can't see you in the shadow by the balcony's side, but you can see him. Finnick Odair; in the gloom of the night. Not a god, not the sun. Just a man.
The realisation of who he is makes you jump, and your lighter falls with a clatter. The man looks around just as startled. You fall to your knees, patting around for your lighter in the dark. Finnick does the same, crouching at your feet to help you find it. Ah! There, by your pooling dress, a gaudy thing of gold and pearl. He hands it you, your fingers brush and… you're embarrassed. When he stands up, he motions for you to grab his arm; ever the gentleman.
Finnick gives you that smile; stunning and mischievous; but there's something about it that makes your heart sink. You'd know it from anywhere: the stony sheen of rehearsal, of strain - his body language completely different from a few seconds before. He stands straighter, with purpose, but it rings hollow. His eyes are still stinging from crying. His smile doesn't quite reach his eyes.
Wordlessly, you offer him a pull from your pipe. He cracks slightly, smile falling, and nods. He's shaking, you notice, as he brings his plump lips to the tip of the pipe, and takes a slow drag. Almost immediately, he doubles over coughing, a palm steady on the railing.
"D-don't… cough… laugh...coughcough…!".
"Is this your first time?" You can't help but giggle.
"No…. Y-yes." He's laughing too now. A genuine, belly-filled laugh.
"Look at what I do." You model a proper pull, breathing in with your chest, holding the smoke there and expelling. You tap at your breastbone. "You should feel it here. Now you try."
You hand it over, and he tries again. This time he only splutters. Not perfect, but better than last time. "You'll get the hang of it."
In the silence that follows, he does, taking careful drags as you pass the pipe around. It's nice to have some quiet after the overstimulation of the gala. You feel like a teenager again; sneaking out to smoke with Vonnie, but with less of the mindless chatter. When you finish, you expect him to leave. After all, it's what you'd do. Leave and refuse to acknowledge the 5 minutes of peace on the balcony. To draw a line between himself and the random girl he's met by chance.
But he doesn't. For some reason, he lingers, stealing a glance at you momentarily. Finally, he chews his lip and asks.
"Why are you out here?"
"Didn't realise you had a claim to this balcony. Have you marked your territory here or…?" You respond without missing a beat, purposefully staring down at the garden below.
"You know that's not what I meant. I haven't seen you before, and here you are-" He chuckles. "-on my balcony."
"How do you know?" You meet his eyes; firm, resolute.
"Hmm?"
"How do you know you haven't met me before? Maybe I bumped into you on the ballroom floor, or at the buffet?"
"I remember everyone at these things. It's always the same. Trust me, if we'd met, I would remember you."
"There's always a million people here…"
"And I remember them all." He breathes, a little wistfully. You didn't realise someone so young could even be wistful.
"That must suck. Every nosy reporter and suck-up? Every politician and creepy little shit-stirrer?" Oh. She's funny, he thinks. And not funny in the tight-lipped, fill-the-silence-with-small-talk way. Unabashedly, genuinely, funny.
"Yes. Every creepy little shit-stirrer." He repeats. Your words taste different in his tongue. Good different. "Thought I'd already met all the spoilt little rich girls, though."
You feign shock, and clutch the necklace at your chest. "You wound me, you really do."
Conversation is effortless with him, lazy in the haze of moonlight that wraps around you both. Shamefully, you didn't think he would be all that smart; too beautiful to have a use for sharp wit and humor. Perhaps the talk shows and television were rotting your brain; he was wonderfully perceptive and you almost struggled to keep up with his pace. Almost.
And so you talked. About anything and everything. What he had for breakfast, the newest music, the weather, the hidden intricacies of capitol life. All the while, tiptoeing around the reality of the situation: that he was the Finnick Odair, perhaps the most sought after man in all of Panem. That he came here to cry on a balcony - clearly, running away from something. To be fair to the man, you wouldn't think it; he was humble and gracious, laughing with a serf like you easily. Fleetingly, you forget yourself, only reminded when the willowy light cut his face just so; handsome, beautiful; and you were blinded by the sun.
You talk until your throat aches and your legs are sore. Behind you, the gala winds down. Again, Finnick seems reluctant to leave, to break the spell you are both under. A normal conversation. A weight off his shoulders; if only for a moment. A natural lull in conversation, and you're skittish, suddenly aware of the time.
"I should go." You say softly.
"I should too, suppose." He looks a little sad, resigned to a small smile.
"Good luck." You nod and walk towards the door. He stops you, clasping a hand in yours. You're looking at each other, and all you can feel is his palm in yours. It's a little rougher than expected, and warm, dwarfing yours. The feeling tethers you to him.
"Good luck." He nods, squeezing your hand. He is doe-eyed and gorgeous in the widowed light. Stepping closer, he opens the door. Finnick Odair lets go and clicks down the hallway, leaving you with a pain in your chest and that feeling on your palm. He flexes his hand as he walks away.
He doesn't look back.
Motivations:
Cassandra Cain (Batgirl) & Jason Todd (Red Hood)
their moral codes directly oppose each other and are formed by extremely traumatic situations they were put in when they were children. jason sees himself in every victim and cass sees herself in every killer and i think they should beat each other up about it. cass's refusal to let anyone kill and her insistence that everyone can change if she can convince them has been explored multiple times but I think bruce's closeness with jason would add another interesting layer to her thought process. all that being said, I don't trust dc to actually pull it off
Duke Thomas (The Signal)
he's been in 2 anthology comics & alt universe him was in outsiders i believe in him this can be his year!! he's got lots of story potential if dc would let him have even just one full-length arc!!! I know, another Bat book, but listen this doesn't even need to be a particularly long running solo, in fact I'd say it should be 24 issues (without crossovers), no annuals max. Duke as a character has been around for over a decade at this point and still feels incoherent. With each new appearance there seems to be some kind of retooling involved: he has been a meta with a secret cosmic backstory and ambiguous immortal heritage (infinite blood???); he has been Gotham's Robin, but not Batman's (as he would prefer it, given his healthy mistrust for adults who position themselves as helpful and then don't do anything); he's been Gotham's day time hero (with no reference to how it would affect his full time education), and he's been an Outsider (in a book that somehow managed to focus on everything except the team at its core). Every new appearance has seemed to throw something new onto him, often contradicting what has come before, but the foundations are shaky. It seems he is perpetually being set up for his next great arc without ever receiving any payoff. His most consistent appearance has been in Wayne Family Adventures where his character has been simplified down to New Guy with occasional flashes of, insecure and also The Normal One™. I maintain that a single contiguous run with a stable creative team, could be his Giffen & Rogers Blue Beetle. One run to clearly lay out who he is and provide a road map to his comfortable future as occasional backup in Tec. This run would: reassemble the We Are Robins crew (themselves an interesting and diverse set of characters who have been poorly utilised in everything afterrwards); focus largely on street level crime, distinguishing itself from other current Bat books; allow time to build out Duke's relationships with the other Bats (particularly Cass, Bruce, Damian, Stephanie, and Harper), and provide a coherent resolution to the matter of Duke's parents (including Gnomon) and of his powers.
OWEN MERCER READING GUIDE
Owen Mercer is the son of Digger Harkness (Captain Boomerang) and Meloni Thawne, having been conceived while Digger was trapped in the 30th century. Owen never got to learn Meloni was his mother, and it was never revealed how Owen was sent back to the 21st century.
Owen longed to meet his birth father, but when Digger was killed after a mission to assasinate Tim Drake's father Jack Drake, Owen took the mantle of Captain Boomerang, Jr.
Owen's time in comics was short, but eventful. He was a member of the Rogues, Suicide Squad, SSoSV and Outsiders; before he was killed in Blackest Night.
Owen Mercer is brothers with Bart Allen aka Impulse.
This list contains all the comics Owen had been in, in chronological order.
