Meeting of beasts

The night was rasping. Unforgiving winds graced the boat side by side. Taehyung felt every panicked breath and shouts along with the cold rain from the storm. He paid no mind to either, not when a friend was nowhere on sight.

However hard it was to see through all the commotion he was determined to find his mentor. He couldn't feel his presence, not yet taehyung told himself.

And that he did. Right under the water. Taehyung looked down on the border of the ship and without thinking he dived into the ocean.

Just like the rain, he felt as if he was swimming on ice, there were planks and hooks floating alongside him. Taehyung was careful to avoid any lost parts of the enemy ship, or rather what it used to be before it inexplicably sunk down in the blink of an eye. He forced the mystery to the back of his mind for now, he had someone to save.

Taehyung stopped. He felt a pulsing, not the familiar pulsing of any human, nor its warmth. This one was big, one that pricked his skin, it expanded thought his body and he could hear the palpitations of his own heart loud and clear. He saw a shadow moving closer and closer and taehyung thought for a moment he should get the hell out of there.

But a King does not bow to fear.

The shadow moved around him, it was something so massive it completely surrounded him. Quick. What should I do? Can I even fight this thing? Oh God what if it ate Jiyong. Taehyung was so lost in his thoughts he didn't see the creature charging at with its mouth wide open. Shit.

Taehyung barely moved himself out the creatures way. The pulsing got stronger. And the creature didn't seem to be done, with now glowing eyes it turned around to charge at him once again. It was approaching and fast. A King does not bow to fear. A King does not bow to fear. He repeated in his head.

Taehyung decided that shifting was the only option. But there wasn't enough time for a full shift. The creature opened its mouth.

Two wings spread from his back. Two massive pearl white wings and a crown of sharp horns made an appearance. Taehyung agitated his wings in the direction of beast. It did no damage but for some reason the glowing eyes were not so glowing anymore, its mouth had closed and there was a noticeable humanoid siren like appearance. It was grey, with the mouth of a shark and a feminine frame, though he could see some muscle on it's arms, along with some sharp nubs on various places of its--her body. In his human form, he is roughly the size of her eyes.

She tilted her head curiously and just stared at him. Taehyung should have felt small under her gaze, like some lab rat. But he only felt like the both of them understood each other. The pulsing he felt was no longer violent, it was calm.

Nevertheless, Taehyung needed to breath air and is now panicking, he is far from the surface. Wordlessly, the creature or whatever she was helped him get to...

So, my friend and I were working on a pirate au and suddenly inspiration just came to me I guess. I liked it so much I decided to post.

Although he may have a slightly different grasp of the rules to you... lion shifter!Jin x reader ~word count: 1.9k ~shifter au, domestic fluff Rating: pg ~warnings: basically nothing, ...the game is rigged? allusions to Lion King spoilers, that’s not a real warning but better to be safe haha ~a/n: this is my secret santa gift for the incredible Eva @aroseforyoongi!! I really wanted to write something you would like as a huge thank you not just from me, but from everyone at the net for being such an amazing team mom! Joining @thebtswritersclub is honestly one of the best things I’ve done this year and I appreciate all the hard work you put in to make it so amazing💖😊as for this fic, I have never written a shifter au before, but I couldn’t get over this idea, so I went with it. I hope you enjoy it!

“If you guys win?”

“You give me a kiss,” he said, smirking (you wish you could call it infuriating, but really, who were you kidding? It was endearing).

“Is that so?” you popped your hands on your hips, “and if I win?”

“Then… I’ll give you a kiss.”

“Ah,” you nodded, “I see. That is a good incentive. You’re on.”

Indulgent smile spreading onto his features, Jin leaned down with his lips puckered, but you ducked out of the way, holding him off at the shoulders.

“Not until I’ve won later!” you laughed, running from the kitchen and leaving him to fume loudly behind you.

“Yah! Don’t make me get my claws out!” he called.

But you knew he was already collecting up the dishes to wash.

Jin was sure he had convinced you to let your friends come for games night. In reality, you were going to say yes no matter what – they were your friends – but the promise of some love from your boyfriend was definitely worth stalling for.

To be honest, he was probably more than happy with giving you the love anyway. Aside from the obvious fact that he was your boyfriend, you had been working hard this holiday and he wanted to spoil you.

So some love, from him and from your friends, was certainly in order.

You knew his tactics for cheering you up. He probably knew you knew. But it didn’t matter – they worked perfectly every time, just as your ways worked for him when he was stressed or down. Good food was a must, and usually you two would end up on the couch as you stroked your fingers through his mane, hearing his deep purrs to affirm his lighter mood.

Of course Jin’s plan to make you feel great was a little more elaborate than that, only allowing you to snatch hugs while he called your friends and prepared what he called ‘nibbles’.

Eventually, you resigned yourself to stealing the snacks, although this didn’t go down well with Jin. After what must have been the sixth time he caught you sneaking away some popcorn, he promptly attacked you with a bear hug, pinning you onto the sofa while you squealed with laughter.

“I should have known,” you giggled, “all I had to do to get your attention was steal your food!”

“Okay, I get it,” he conceded, “let’s wait here until they arrive.”

Peppering your face with kisses, he slid off you and tucked you against his side. Though he flicked on the TV, neither of you paid much attention to it as you swung your legs over his lap and curled up against him, content with each other’s presence until the doorbell sounded.

Tae rummaged in the little basket Jin had prepared, eventually producing a card, being sure to cup his hands and hide it from sight. A smug smile stretched across his mouth.

Tucking the card into his pocket, he swaggered forwards to stand in front of you all; you were spread across the two sofas, according to which team you were on.

And so it began.

“A movie!”

“4 words!”

“First word…”

As he bent his knees, the shouting started straight away. Trying to focus on him instead of laughing at your friends, you watched as he settled in a crouching position.

“Kneeling!”

“Stooping!”

“Floor!”

“Why would it be the floor, Hobi?”

“Maybe it is, you never know!”

“It’s not the floor, look, he’s shaking his head!”

“Hey!”

Two ears had sprouted from Taehyung’s head, and now fuzzy stripes made themselves known on his face. Curling his fingers, he made a pouncing motion as he showed his claws.

“Scary?” Jimin guessed first.

“Hunter!”

Suddenly the frown melted from your face, the answer clear to you.

“Crouching! It’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon!”

Clapping his hands, Tae stood back up again, a proud smile coming your way. As he squeezed back in beside you on the sofa, you glanced at Jin. But though you had expected him to glare back at you from fear of losing your little game, however pointless it was, instead you were met with a cocky quirk of the eyebrows.

However, the way Yoongi’s eyes widened when he read his card gave you back some confidence. His cheeks turned bright red, but he huffed anyway and positioned himself in the middle of the room.

“I-I don’t know how to…”

“Yes you do Yoongi,” Jin urged, “get on with it.”

You weren’t sure you had ever seen a bigger eye roll than the one Yoongi gave, but he complied anyway.

“Okay… one word! Film?” Joon started, leaning forwards and studying Yoongi’s gestures.

“Nonono, that’s a musical,” Jungkook interrupted.

Yoongi nodded and moved on. Your eyes nearly popped out of your head when he turned to the side and started strutting, swishing his butt about with his hands on his hips. For someone who looked as embarrassed as he did right now, he was really going for it.

“Sexy!”

“Scarring?”

“Oh my god, is it Burlesque?”

“You’ve watched that?”

“It’s not Burlesque, look!”

The next to resort to shifting, Yoongi was now prancing around in a circle with his tail in the air.

“Tail! Bum!”

“Cat-rocity!”

“Jin, shut up-“

Even though you knew he was the most versatile shifter of the group, it still surprised you when he jumped and landed as a tabby cat, then a black one.

“Cheating! Cheating!”

“Hobi, Tae literally shifted in your round too.”

“I know! I know!” Jungkook leapt from his seat, hand dancing in the air, “It’s Cats! Is it Cats?”

“Yep,” Yoongi replied gruffly.

Turning back to his fully human form, he crossed his arms tightly as he sat back down.

“This is rigged!” you complained, “Charades is so much easier when you can change shape!”

“We can only change to one animal,” Jin replied as he got up to hand the basket back to your team.

“Sure does come in handy when your card is Cats, though,” you quipped in return, but Jimin had already got up.

Turning your attention back to the front, you watched as he swooped into the air, suddenly a small bundle of wings and feathers. Of course, he apparently had a tailor-made card as well. In fairness, it was quite entertaining.

Stopping in mid-flight, he brought a wing across his chest (over-dramatic, even as a bird) and flopped to the ground, landing in human form again, eyes closed.

“Death!”

“Getting shot!”

“Floor!”

“Hobi, what films do you know called ‘floor’?”

Back on his feet, Jimin was sticking his tongue out, waving his hands at the side of his head.

“Rude!”

“Childish?”

“A… a dead child!?” (he had fallen back to the floor)

“Time’s up!” Jin exclaimed then, eliciting groans from the three of you who slumped back on the sofa.

“Come on guys, it was ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’” Jimin got to his knees, “see? Mocking… bird… killed…”

“Too hard,” grumbled Tae.

Jin’s team was up next, and although they guessed Kung Fu Panda correctly, you thought it a fitting consequence that Joon was now stuck with fluffy black ears on his head. Usually a bear shifter, he clearly didn’t find it as easy as Yoongi to change it up.

Refusing to look at your scheming boyfriend, you focussed hard during the next round, not liking the fact his team was drawing ahead of yours.

However, their next turn crashed and burned, not without an intensely heated debate about the differences between Spiderman and Antman and how to suitably portray them.

Next up, you reached for a card, hoping you didn’t get a difficult one. If Jin could manage to fix the cards for the shifters among you, you hoped he would go easy on you.

Apparently not.

Despite not being able to change shape, you thought you acted out the Wolf of Wall Street pretty well. Jimin guessed it just in time, thankfully before you resorted to any of the… well, more explicit content.

Perhaps Jin had been hoping for that, you thought, smirking back at him as you took your seat.

By now the other team were back around to Yoongi, who, handily, had to act out the Cat in the Hat.

It didn’t take long.

From here on in, the game devolved into Jin’s laughter and your groans as the cards magically got harder for your team. Seriously, how can you go about Pulp Fiction in charades?

And then there was Jin, roaring in all his majesty and putting an imaginary crown on his head. There was no need for Jungkook to look so proud when he guessed the Lion King, anyone could have seen that. You were surprised at how long it took them, Jin having to throw himself from a cliff screaming and howling for them to guess it.

But who were you kidding? Of course your boyfriend was going to try to sabotage you, and you’d be lying if you said you weren’t having a good night, mind completely away from your work.

By the time you waved your friends off, you had laughed yourself sore at Hobi’s silly guesses and Jin’s dramatics, stuffed yourself with the damn nibbles and were ready to fall into bed and sleep happily.

On leaving the shower later on, you found Jin already waiting for you in bed. Seeing you, he grinned – that endearing infuriating grin – and spread his arms wide.

“Where’s my kiss, then?”

“No way!” you scoffed, sitting on the edge of the bed with hand over your heart, “you rigged that game!”

“Don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You liar, Mr Lion-the-Witch-and-the-Wardrobe. We totally would have won!”

“But you didn’t,” he smirked.

You narrowed your eyes at him, only to be assaulted by light tickles to your sides.

“Hey!” you gasped, suddenly finding yourself underneath him. And gosh, no matter how long you had been dating this man, he never failed to make the blood rush to your cheeks.

Triumphant smile adorning his face, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to your lips. They lingered there, and only pride stopped you pulling his face closer still. When he eventually pulled away, a grin spread onto your face.

“Ha! You kissed me! I did win!!”

Eyes widening almost comically, a look of anguish quickly took over Jin’s face.

“Aargh! Nooo!” he cried, melodramatic as always as he flopped back to his pillow.

The sound of your laughter was all that followed as you climbed into bed next to him, satisfied when his arms circled your waist to tug your closer. Until he started trying to pull you over to face him.

“Give me a kiss!”

“Nope!” you laughed, “I won!”

A valiant effort was made on your part to squirm away from your boyfriend, ending with several kisses to your face and neck as he aimed for, and missed, your mouth. Coming in breathless gasps, your laughter rang out in the dim room.

“Spoilsport,” he muttered eventually, though he failed to sound genuinely bitter.

Finally dissolving, you hid your giggles in his chest as you settled in his arms. It was only once your eyes slid shut that he whispered into your hair.

“Did you have fun tonight?”

Pulling away to look at him, even in the low light, you smiled widely.

hi 🙋🏻‍♀️omg thank u for asking !!! maybe this will get my writing juices flowing.. rn i’m actively working on p&m pt 4. but when i’m not feeling it i do tend to write a bit for other fics !

i have like 3 others wips i juggle around but i haven’t made enough progress to post anything yet

- song of the dragon :: usurper!myg historical au :: i have roughly 8k so far but i keep going back and editing the plot 🥲 i like the idea but .. how should i say this. it’s a fic that sounds better in my head 😬 so this one has been on pause for a few weeks until i figure out how to give it CPR. metaphorically speaking

- blue moon ritual :: kim line uhhh idk how to describe this one w/o making it sound weird LOL basically. in this fictional kingdom, u get chosen to carry the next heir. i have almost 6k for it but 🥲 it’s nowhere near done. i still don’t know if i should add plot to it. ah i want to make it a series but looking at my track record that’s probably a very bad idea. so my goal is to write it all out then post it in parts.

STORY SUMMARY: The magical world your grandmother told you about had always been real to you. Once she passed away, you find yourself honoring her memory by searching for the one magical creature she could never find.

CHAPTER SUMMARY: The leaders of the seven Shifter clans have a meeting, you find the Moongrove wolfpack led by Seokjin and Tulok, and Namjoon experiences odd feelings.

THREE

Namjoon entered the clearing after traveling for over two hours in the air. He had offered Jimin a ride in his sack, but the shifter had quickly turned him down, opting to use the unicorn’s magical powers to get them to the meeting area. Along with Jimin, Jungkook and Seokjin were brought by Taehyung. Hoseok had flown here on his own.

As soon as everyone had arrived, they shifted into human form, put on human clothes, and placed themselves around the small area. The seven leaders of the shifter clans looked at one another carefully. Yoongi sat on a tree branch, lounging lazily against the trunk, dark eyes watching as the others settled. Taehyung stood out among the trees with his blue hair and and a frilly blouse as he flicked his hands in the air and created a flower throne. Hoseok sat near him, and Taehyung happily made him another simple chair covered in flowers.

Jimin and Jungkook sat together surrounded colorful flora that didn’t grow in their woods, unused to be apart of the circle of leaders. Seokjin settled next to Namjoon, who had made simple chairs out of wood for them to sit on. When everyone was where they wanted to be in a circle, Yoongi gracefully made his way down the tree and completed the ring.

“It’s been a while,” Yoongi stated, sitting on the ground with crossed legs. “I heard the news of the Magic Mother’s journey to the Great One. Her guardianship of the woodlands has led all forest dwellers to thrive, to be happy.”

“I felt the magic threads dim for a long moment,” Taehyung murmured, unusually somber. He sighed and shook his head. “Miss Silvia was the purest of all.”

“Her successor has been found,” Seokjin stated.

“I’ve met her. Her name is ______, Miss Silvia’s granddaughter,” Hoseok interjected.

“A curious mind, a kind heart, and magical soul,” Jimin added.

“She has no experience with magic,” Jungkook recalled thoughtfully. He turned his gaze to Hoseok.

“No magic? How is she to be the guardian of the woodlands?” Yoongi asked, frowning.

“Namjoon,” Hoseok answered. Every pair of eyes turned to the dragon, who had been sitting calmly until his name was mentioned. Namjoon sat up straight, brows furrowed in confusion.

“Me? What does the Magic Mother’s successor have to do with me?”

“Does she want to take his magic?” Jungkook asked worriedly. Taehyung snorted from his throne, causing all eyes to turn from Namjoon to him.

“Of course not. She wants him to teach her.”

“How do you know?”

“Namjoon, how do you think? I felt it,” Taehyung explained, shrugging. Everyone thought quietly over the information that had just been passed around for a long moment.

“You were near her, what else did you feel?” Seokjin asked.

“Well, it was brief. She noticed me as soon as I stumbled upon her. I was in my natural form,” he added. “As soon as she realized there was a unicorn near, I left.”

“You’re avoiding the question, Tae,” Yoongi said in a low, almost threatening voice. As much as he considered these men to be his brothers, his mate was more important to him. If there was any darkness in this woman, then she could be dangerous to all.

“I can’t say much, because of the vision I had, along with the traits I gathered from her.” Taehyung gazed at each of the men as they stared at him, waiting. Hoseok began to tap his foot impatiently as Taehyung stretched the moment. Finally, Taehyung smirked. “Like I said, the Great One has decided I am not to share my visions. But, I will share the other information.”

Even the new members of this circle took Taehyung’s visions and commune with the Great one to heart. As a unicorn, most likely the last just like the forest dragon, he was to be respected. Unlike Namjoon, Taehyung enjoyed the attention it granted him much more than the dragon did.

“Tae, just tell us, don’t be over-dramatic,” Jimin murmured, a soft smile on his lips, holding back a laugh. Taehyung winked at him and grinned.

“Okay, okay. Appreciation, cleverness, duty, focus, honor, respect, trust… all good things. I did see a few things that could be considered negative.”

“That isn’t good,” Jungkook murmured to Jimin, who nodded and bit his lip.

“It could be worse,” Taehyung pointed out. “I saw regret, compulsion, pride….”

“What about magical abilities?” Namjoon interjected, which surprised the others. He wasn’t one to speak up unless it was important. Taehyung raised an eyebrow, a twinkle in his eyes. Namjoon narrowed his eyes at his friend, but didn’t ask anything more.

“Ah, what you think the granddaughter of the Magic Mother would have. Plant growth, water manipulation, animal communication, weather manipulation. Pretty much what Namjoon would know about.”

“And?” Namjoon asked softly.

“And there are things you will discover once you begin teaching her.” Taehyung turned his eyes from Namjoon, waving away the conversation. “Now, Yoongi, is there any news you and Sarah would like to share?”

“Sometimes I hate your abilities,” Yoongi mumbled, holding back a grin. “We are expecting. Our cubs should be arriving in a few days.”

Seokjin and Tulok are caring and intelligent alphas. Tulok is from another forest, and them finding each other was a miracle in itself. Maybe they will tell me the story of what brought them together, but it’s not my place to ask. I appreciate the Moongrove Pack allowing an old lady to attend the union celebration between two young members.

You saw the creatures slinking through the trees as you made your way over the worn path. Flashes of gray, black, and white appeared between the tree trunks. You stopped and stood still, listening to the sounds of the forest. The rustling of the leaves caught your ear, your eyes slowly moving toward the sound. A large gray wolf came confidently out of the shadows, head held high as they stared at you with a curious gaze. You turned slowly to fully face the wolf, wondering if this was part of the pack your grandmother had mentioned in her journal.

“I’m _____. I am looking for the Moongrove Pack.”

The wolf stared for a moment longer, then nodded. It walked toward you, causing you to hold your breath, not sure what this meant. Walking past you, the wolf looked over their shoulder and gestured with their large head to follow them. They slid into the trees and you followed, breathing much easier knowing it seemed friendly enough.

The wolf moved slowly than they usually would, you assumed, because it kept looking over it’s shoulder and stopping for a moment for you to catch up. You wondered if it was bothered by stopping often, but nothing was hinted at as you continued to follow. You walked half an hour, climbing up and over fallen tree trunks and moss covered rocks. You noticed you were going uphill, the slope gradual. The wolf stopped for a moment as you jumped off a particularly large trunk that was lying on the barely there path, then stepped into a small clearing.

You followed and your mouth opened in awe. Unlike Hoseok’s clearing with just flowers and trees, this one contained a small group of tent-like structures surrounding a community fire. Ten adults milled about around the fire or moving around the area doing different things, along four wolves of varying sizes. Six children played in an open area behind the structures with four wolf cubs, kicking a soccer ball around.

While you were taking this all in, the wolf had disappeared. When you realized it, you suddenly felt out of place. This tiny community was going about your business, and you were just walking in here without anything to offer. You felt a strong presence coming near you, and you turned toward the nearest tent to see a tall, broad-shouldered man walking toward you. Another man was accompanying him, walking in step on his side.

“______. Welcome to the heart of the Moongrove Pack territory. I’m Seokjin.” He kept his eyes on your as he bowed his head politely. He gestured to the man at his side. “This is Tulok, my mate. He was the wolf who led you to us.”

“Ah,” you answered, bowing your own head toward them. Of course it was one of the alpha’s of the pack, no one else would lead you here so quickly. The wolves must trust you, which was an exciting thing, considering how long it took usually. “Thank you for allowing me to come. My grandmother wrote about you and your pack in her journals.”

“Miss Silvia was of pure heart, and I can feel her blood in you,” Tulok said quietly. Seokjin took his hand and nodded toward you. By that time, the members of the community had noticed and started to walk toward you, wolves and humans alike.

“Are all of you shifters?”

“Yes,” Seokjin answered with a smile. “Come, let us introduce you to our large family.”

As soon as he returned to his home, Namjoon knew someone had been investigating around his barrier. Frowning, he walked the perimeter, picking up on the scent of the intruder. He also felt the uncultivated power left in their wake. It took a moment to recognize it, as he hadn’t been in direct contact, but it was very similar to the Magic Mother. When the knowledge you had been here while he was gone hit him, Namjoon’s heart beat quickly.

His mind filled with the need to find you, to talk to you, to just be near you. Overwhelmed, Namjoon gasped and stumbled to the porch, sitting on the step hard. He took deep breaths, confused by his reaction. He felt restless, the idea of bringing you here, keeping you here, overtaking any other thought.

“What’s happening?” he murmured to himself, closing his eyes as he focused his breathing. He purposefully cleared his mind, making himself concentrate on the sounds of the forest surrounding him. He heard the birds chirping, speaking to one another, and the leaves rustling as a deer wandered by unseen. After three full minutes of meditation, Namjoon seemed to get his emotions under control. “Taehyung would know,” he told himself.

Immediately, he shed his clothes, put them in the ever present sack, and shifted into his huge dragon form. He lifted off and headed toward one of the densest areas, where creatures like Taehyung would likely be. When he arrived, Taehyung was in a small area in human form, sitting on a throne of flowers and sparkles at a table with a few fairies and a leprechaun, which Namjoon had only seen one other time. Taehyung and the other creatures didn’t flinch, sipping their tea casually as Namjoon appeared, shifted, and dressed quickly.

“I feel like I just saw you moments ago,” Taehyung teased, putting down the delicate teacup. He turned to his guests. “I enjoyed tea time with you, my friends, but it seems my magical abilities are needed. Another time?” The fairies and leprechaun agreed and disappeared quickly into the thick trees. Taehyung turned to Namjoon in his chair and crossed his legs at the knee, patiently waiting.

“Something happened to me, and I’m not sure what it is. I was hoping you’d have some kind of information.”

“Dizzy, overwhelmed, thoughts of _____?” Taehyung propped an elbow on the arm of the throne and placed his chin in his palm. He smirked. Namjoon frowned, then narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

“What do you know?” he asked slowly. He disliked not knowing what was happening to him. It had helped him survive this long without too much trouble, knowing what was happening and what could happen. Taehyung must have sensed the dragon’s patience quickly wearing thin, a rare but frightening thing, as he sat up and turned his smirk into seriousness.

“What you felt,” he stated slowly. He stopped and took a deep breath, looking away in hesitation for a moment. Taehyung turned his gaze back to Namjoon, who crossed his arms and raised his eyebrows. “What you felt was the link connecting to your mate.”

Christmas Special: Day 18

-> Pairing: Taehyung x Reader -> Dragon Shifter!AU // Fluff -> Word Count: 2.3k -> Summary: Taehyung just wants to experience what humans do, whether it’s Christmas related or not. -> Warning(s): None

A/N: I really tried to make it under 2k guys. Also, I only skimmed this before post :)

“Good Morning, (Y/n)!” Jin greets as you enter his bakery so early in the morning.

You smile as you approach the counter, “Good Morning, Seokjin. Can I have two muffins please?”

He nods. He goes to collect your usual banana nut muffin, unable to hold his curiosity back, “Who’s the lucky duck to get the second one?”

“No one special.” You shrug, ignoring his knowing stare to grab some coins for him.

“Whatever you say~” He sings, handing over the goods and taking the coins for your breakfast. He waves to you, “Have a good day.”

“Goodbye, Seokjin.” You call behind you.

You were indeed meeting someone special today, but it was none of Seokjin’s business to know who this someone is. Only you needed to know, and it was better that the information wasn’t discovered by any unwanted listeners. Especially in the town you reside in.

As you get closer to the edge of town, you approach the farm owned by your friends Hoseok and Yoongi. Both of whom happen to be outside working at the very moment you walk by.

“Are you going back to the woods already, (Y/n)? You were just there last week.” Hoseok calls out, pulling your attention to him.

You shrug, “I’m meeting with someone today.”

“Oh, well, enjoy your time together.” He says, nodding and moving back to his work.

“Thank you, we will.” You say.

Yoongi, however, is not pleased by this answer. He comes to the edge of the fence where Hoseok won’t hear and narrows his eyes, “This special someone wouldn’t happen to be that dragon shifter, would he?”

“Why would that be any of your business, Yoongi?” You ask.

“Look, you know what they say about shifters.” He starts, already shaking his head and prepared to lecture you.

“And you know what they say about attractive, grumpy men, yet here we are.” You challenge.

He chuckles, “Cute. Very cute.”

You place a gentle hand over his, “I’ll stop by on my way back to assure you that I am very much alive.”

“Just watch for hunters if not the shifter.” He says, more of a plea than a warning.

You only nod and continue on your way to meet with the friend you had met months ago while searching for a good spot to rest. You’d come across the shifter right after a terribly violent change, and you didn’t have it in your heart to leave him so miserable. You aided the man until he could move on his own once again a few hours later, but you both had already grown a strong bond by the time it came to say goodbye. But now, standing in the clearing where you met, you can’t seem to find the man who promised to wait here for you.

“Taehyung?” You call out, scanning the area around you for the beautiful blonde hair you’d become accustomed to.

“Boo!” The noise in your left ear shocks you more than it should, sending you feet into the air out of fright. You turn to make sure you aren’t hallucinating and find the man behind you laughing as you try to catch your breath. “You should see you face!”

You’re shock is quickly turned into rage as you gain your senses once again. You step forward and playfully slap his shoulder, “You jerk, I brought you a muffin!”

“Wait, you did?” He asks. Gone is the laughter he just couldn’t hold in, now replaced with curiosity.

“Yes, but I’m not giving any of it to you now, you heathen.” You spit. Taehyung looks at you with a pout, resembling a small child who’d just had his toy taken away. You’ve seen this look before, but unfortunately for you, you haven’t mastered the art of ignoring it yet. You sigh, “Fine, but I hope you hate it.”

“I promise you I’ll hate every bite.” He takes the treat for your hands in excitement, licking his lips before taking a heafty bite of the treat. He lets out a moan, one that has you turning away to feign frustration to mask your embarrassment. Even if you hadn’t Taehyung was far more concerned with everything that you had planned for the two of you. “So, where are we going today?”

“Down the road to the next town over. It should only be an hour by horse once we stop by the farm on the way there.” You explain, already prepared for the journey you’d be taking today.

“Or I could get the both of us their in twenty…” He suggests, taking in another mouthful of muffin.

You sigh, “You know how stupid it is to fly in the open Taehyung.”

“But I’m always careful! Please, let me fly with you just this one time.” He begs. Once again, he uses that pout on you, and you can’t help but give in to his wishes once more.

“Alright.” You say.

Taehyung smiles and shoves the last bit of muffin into his mouth. In the few months that you’d known him, you’d never seen him shift before, so this would be a first for you. He has you stand behind a tree, watching from afar in the event he shifts and you’re too close to his wings. You watch as the blonde boy turns into a beautiful yellow dragon with two large twisted horns on his head and spikes going from the top of his head all the way down to the tip of his tail. You’re surprised, especially when you climb onto his neck when he offers it to you. He allows you to cling onto him as tightly as you require before he soars into the air with one leap of faith and a flap of his large wings. He takes you into the sky and you’re amazed by how beautiful everything is from so high up, and you’re even more amazed when true to his word you’re in the next town over within twenty minutes.

“What’s going on?” Taehyung asks after shifting back. The both of you listen to the music coming from the town just a mile ahead of you, hearing the happiness of the people within.

You turn to the hornless shifter with the biggest smile, “Welcome to the Winter Festival, Tae. This celebration is held every year in honor of Father Christmas before he makes his journey down from the highest mountain to spread love and cheer to us humans young and old. You said you wanted to partake in human customs, so I thought this would be nice.”

“You really were listening to me…” He says. He has a soft look in his eyes as he looks at you, and you can’t hide the blush that paints your cheeks from his intense glare. You reach for his hand and tug him towards the path leading into town, “Let’s go have fun.”

And fun you had. Thanks to Taehyung’s lack of horns and tail when he shifts to a human, he’s able to enjoy the festival without any suspicion of being a dragon shifter. This allows him to join you in the festivities the town pulls out for this day every year. You get to enjoy the smell and taste of fresh hot chocolate - and a small taste of some ‘special’ eggnog - you were able to enjoy the frozen pond that others skated on, join in on the games the children of the town would play together, and even enjoy the play held by the towns church. In every activity, you got to see the pure joy on Taehyung’s face, and it made risking everything to bring him here even more worth it.

“You humans are strange, but this celebration really is amazing!” Taehyung cheers. The two of you had moved away from the festivities for a short breather, watching from afar as couples and children danced in the town square to the music being played once more.

“The festival is really the best one of the towns.” You say. You catch the sight of something passing by you, and look up to find white flakes of snow beginning their decent for a fresh coat of snow. Even though you’ve seen it many times, you can’t help but to watch it fall with childlike wonder, “It’s snowing again…”

Taehyung observes you as you watch the snow fall, taking the moment to appreciate how your hair frames you face and the way your eyes light up at the sight of falling snow. You radiant smile makes his heart clench, and he has to use everything within him to turn away and focus on something else. Thankfully, he finds a distraction.

“We should head back now, I don’t want you walking home in the dark.” Taehyung says, pulling you out of your trance.

You sigh, “I can take care of myself, Taehyung.”

“I know, but let’s just get going anyways.” He suggests.

You’re not one to argue, and you both take your leave from the festival. You make the journey back to your special clearing and are ready to bid Taehyung goodnight when you hear shouting close to you. In the distance, you can spot lights that seem to keep getting closer and closer as you watch them and listen.

“What’s that?” You ask.

“Hunters.” Taehyung says. He grabs your hand before you have much time to think and immediately starts pulling you after him deeper into the woods to get as far away from the hunters as possible. “We need to move away from the town.”

You shake your head, still allowing yourself to be lead away, “But I need to be heading home.”

“If the hunters get you then you won’t be going home anytime soon.” He reminds you. You both knew very well that if the hunters found the two of you together, there was little chance that they would even think of sparing you.

So, you continue on after him, following him as quickly as you can in the snow and dimly lit wood. You’re surprised when you finally come across a strange looking cave, and suddenly it’s like you’re somewhere else entirely.

“What was that?” You ask.

“The entrance to my home. I know a wizard who resides in your town who charmed the entrance so no one but me and my friends may enter. I won’t say who he is, but he’s promised my protection from hunters in return for protection of his own.” He explains. His pace changes to a languid one and he leads you through the cave until he makes it an area much larger in size with very little decoration. “Welcome to my nest! Make yourself as comfortable as you can and I’ll be right back.”

You watch him walk away to another entrance that was obviously made for his dragon form rather than his small human body. This must be the main area of his nest for him, so he’s probably gone to another area. You can’t help but begin to wonder how big Taehyung’s nest may be until he comes back with a large ball in his arms. He throws it to the floor closest to his fire it and it unrolls to become a mattress. “This isn’t much, but I use it when I feel like sleeping in my human form.”

“It’s fine, Taehyung...Taehyung?” You’re taken by surprise when the dragon shifter begins to nuzzle into you, rubbing his face all over you in anyway he can. You’re stunned by his actions, almost appalled! But you can’t find it in yourself to stop him.

“I have to scent you while you’re here. Other shifters live close by, and I can’t have them thinking they’re in enough danger to find and kill you when it comes time for you to leave.” He explains. He continues with his ‘scenting’ until he pulls away to scan you over, nodding in affirmation that he’d done a good job with you. “That should do.”

You clear your throat and smile in appreciation, “Thank you. I’ll just get settled in for the night then.”

You bid Taehyung goodnight and settle onto the small mattress he brought you. It has a nice quilt to go with it, and being placed by the fire makes it even better. But you can’t shake off the cold that you can still feel seeping in through the cave walls. Taehyung’s quilt doesn’t do enough for you, being his body temperature can withstand this type of weather.

“Are you cold?” Taehyung asks after several minutes of you shuffling to get warmer.

“Just a bit.” You sigh. There was no use in denying that you were cold. What was he going to do anyway? Laugh at you? Taehyung wasn’t that kind of person- or shifter. However, you’re surprised when he begins to climb into the mattress behind you. You sit up and turn to him, “What are you doing now?”

He shrugs, “You’re cold. I may as well sleep next to you and help you warm up.”

“That’s highly inappropriate.” You remind him, refusing to give in to his albeit sweet gesture.

“Would you rather freeze?” He asks.

Thinking it over, sleeping next to Taehyung couldn’t be that bad, could it? Especially if it was going to keep you from freezing halfway through the night. Besides, just him sitting next to you was enough to spread more heat into your body. You sigh, “I suppose one night won’t harm anyone.”

“Good choice.” You don’t miss the way his boxy smile appears proudly on his face. He’s happy to pull you back down and press his chest against your back, letting his arms wrap around your body to pull you close. He nuzzles his face into the side of yours again, but this time you have no complaints on the matter with how warm and comfortable he is.

BTS Reaction: They help a wounded dragon shifter

Namjoon

Namjoon had found you unconscious and passed out in the woods. You had a rather large wound on your shoulder and an arrow sticking out of it. He pulls the weapon out of you and scoops you up in his arms to take you back to his cabin. He had been out walking in the woods trying to clear his head when he found you. He knew you had to have been a dragon shifter. There was no other explanation for your injuries otherwise. You must have changed back into your human form after hitting the ground, unable to keep up your form any longer.

Namjoon cleans and dresses your wounds and waits until you wake up. He hears you shifting uncomfortably, he places a hand gently on your arm and you startle awake.

“Who the hell are you? Where am I? What’s going on?” You try to sit up but Namjoon gently places a hand on your chest to lay you back down.

“You were injured. You still are, I found you laying in the woods. You need to rest. Don’t worry, you’re safe here I won’t hurt you.” You don’t know why, but seeing his sweet dimpled smile makes you feel like you can instantly trust him. You lay back down and fall into a peaceful slumber. Namjoon gazes at your sleeping form and feel a warmth spread through his chest that you were able to trust him so easily.

Jin

The last thing Jin was expecting to come across on his peaceful walk through the woods was a giant dragon. He had heard of dragon shifters before but had never actually seen one. He startled him to the point where he let out a yelp. You turned your gaze on him and he froze in his tracks. You try to be intimidating, fearful that he is going to try and harm you but when you see he doesn’t all of the fight leaves you. You turn back into your human form and Jin runs over to you.

“Hey, are you okay? What happened?”

“Do I look okay to you? Some one shot me and I couldn’t fly anymore so, here I am.”

“Let me help you.”

“You don’t even know me why would you do that?”

“Because clearly you are in a lot of trouble and you can’t help yourself.” He leans down and scoops you into his arms.

“Hey! Put me down!”

“Nope, no can do. You’re coming with me until you get better.” You let out a huff and cross your arms indignantly and he can’t help but laugh at you. You decide in that moment that you love the sound of it.

“What’s your name?”

“It’s Jin, what about you?”

“Y/n.”

Yoongi

It had been 4 days since Yoongi found you wounded in the woods. He had decided to take you in to stay with him until you got better, not wanting to leave you all alone in the woods. However he was quickly coming to regret his decision as the only thing you had done since arrived was whine at him.

“Yoongi, my arm still hurts will you cook me something to eat?”

“I literally just made you breakfast an hour ago.”

“I’m a dragon shifter, a wounded one at that I need me strength so I can finally leave your grumpy ass.” He pouts at you without even realizing it.

“Hey, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings. You are kinda grumpy but, for some reason I like you? I mean! I like it, your personality, your grumpy persona. It’s kinda cute. Oh my god I am just going to stop talking now.” Yoongi laughs for the first time since he’s taken you in and you smile widely at him. “I can’t believe I made the grump laugh.”

“Shut up. You’re so annoying.”

“But admit it, you’ve grown fond of me haven’t you?” Yoongi doesn’t say anything, just picks a pillow up off the couch and throws it at your face. You burst into laughter. Yeah, I have. He thinks to himself.

Hoseok

Hoseok was walking through the woods when he found you laying on the ground. You were still in your dragon form but he can tell you were hurt. He approached you cautiously, not wanting to startle you.

“Hey, my name is Hoseok. You don’t have to be afraid of me I want to help you.” His bright smile makes you warm up to him and you allow yourself to change back into your human form. “What’s your name?”

“Y/n. Why are you helping me?”

“Because you’re hurt?”

“Aren’t you afraid of me?”

“No. Should I be?”

“Only if you give me a reason to be.” You shoot him a glare and he ruffles your hair playfully.

“You’re cute.” You blush and it just causes him to let out another burst of laughter. “I can’t believe the big scary dragon is blushing.”

“Shut up Hoseok! I can turn back into a dragon and burn you to ash without thinking twice about it, you know!”

Jimin

Jimin had found you injured and carried you the whole way home. You kept drifting in and out of consciousness and remembered hearing what you thought was an angel singing, you thought sure you were dead. Until you woke up and realized that angel was none other than the man who saved you. His bright eyes and warm smile made you feel calm and at ease.

“Hey, my name is Jimin. You’ve been sleeping all day but, your body probably needed to rest and recover after what happened. You’re at my home.”

“Were you singing before?” He blushes and his eyes widen.

“Uh, yeah. Sorry I thought you were sleeping did I bother you?”

“No, you sounded really beautiful actually. I thought I had died for a minute there and an angel was singing and welcoming me to heaven.”

“If this is your way of hitting on me, compliments will get you everywhere.” You playfully smack his arm.

“No Jimin, I’m not trying to hit on you. Just, thank you for saving me.”

“You’re welcome.”

Taehyung

You woke up to see a man with dark brown hair and a wide boxy smile standing over you. You furrowed your brows in confusion.

“Oh good! You’re finally awake. I was starting to wonder if you were ever going to wake up it’s been a whole day since you passed out.”

“Um.. Who are you?”

“Oh! How rude I didn’t even introduce myself. I’m Taehyung, but you can call me Tae. I found you in the woods, you had a pretty bad wound on your back but I dressed it for you so you should make a full recovery.”

“Wait a minute it was on my back does that mean you..”

“Uh.. I’m sorry your other shirt was in tatters so I had to take it off of you and put one of mine on, but I swear I was just trying to help you I’m not some pervert I swear.” You look into his childlike eyes and you can tell he’s telling the truth.

“Thank you, Tae. For saving me.”

“I only did what anyone else would have done. Are you hungry? I made soup for when you woke up.” You nod your head and he brings you a bowl. He sits down on the bed and eats with you and you two spend the next hour just chatting and getting to know each other.

“Well.. I should probably get going since I am feeling better and-”

“No! I mean.. you just woke up you should stay another day at least just so I can keep an eye on you and make sure you’re really okay.” You eye him suspiciously but reluctantly agree.

“Alright. But I’m leaving tomorrow morning no questions asked, alright? I don’t want to impose on you.”

“You could never, but if that’s what you want then.. okay.”

Jungkook

Jungkook was walking in the woods and had seen you fall out of the sky. He quickly ran towards where you had fallen. He had never met a dragon shifter before but he had heard about them. He found your crumpled form laying on the ground and he was filled with concern for you.

“Hey, my name is Jungkook. Can you stand?” You weakly shake your head at him. He loops your arms around his neck and picks you up to carry you back to his cabin. He hears you mutter out a thank you before passing out. You don’t have any obvious injuries. He sets you down on the couch and lights the fireplace. You’re shivering even though it's not that cold outside. He drapes a blanket over you and goes to move away when you grab his arm and pull him close to you.

“Warm.” Jungkook is blushing furiously at being so close to you, but he doesn’t want you to freeze. He adjusts you so then you are laying on his shoulder, his arm wrapped around your shoulder to hold you in place. When you wake up the next morning and find yourself sleeping on a man you don’t know you scream and move away from him. Jungkook is startled out of his sleep.

“W-Who are you and why am I here?”

“I’m Jungkook, remember? I found you in the woods and brought you back here. You were sick and couldn’t walk.” Bits and pieces of a memory flash into your mind.

“Oh.. I remember now. You saved me. Thank you Jungkook. I don’t know what came over me I suddenly got really dizzy and then felt like I was going to pass out. I think I’ve been shifting too much and it drained me of my energy.”

“Well.. you can stay here for as long as you need to until you are feeling better. My home is your home.” You smile at him and thank him for his kindness. He returns your smile with one of his own and you can tell you’re in trouble by the way your heart is already fluttering.

A Fated Prophecy- The Library

The time of action came faster than they hoped it would. All of their time was filled with brainstorming strategies and making plans.

They had gone over every detail Thoth told them about Fukurokuju's library and with Yoongi's summation that it would be foolish to have everyone go, Jimin proposed the idea of choosing between those who've shown abilities.

Namjoon and Jaebum were in agreement that Yen should be one, as her jumping ability would be useful. They ha da hard time convincing the others of that.

Mark, Jinyoung, and Jin were against it because the Fates are not apart of the prophecy and using them for anything other than knowledge and travel purposes could have consequences.

Yugyeom was against it for reasons he didn't want to express. Once again a decision was made when Yoongi argued in Yen's defense.

Yen was a lock. Next up the debate for the other members. Adarra stated she was going and she'd fight anyone who told her no. She was looking directly at Jinyoung.

Jinyoung argued that he should go. His bid was rejected. Everyone including Adarra convinced him he'd be more worried about his wife than the mission. Hoseok put in his bid. Everyone looked to Yoongi to object. When he said it was a good choice everyone agreed.

Jackson was the last to put in his bid. "We don't know what's in there. Something has to be set in place for protection. It's a mythical library. Hoseok and Adarra are heavy hitters ability wise. Though Yen and I are also strong the both of us are also amazing at hand to hand." He argued his point.

Namjoon pondered in thought momentarily. "You make good points. The issue however remains the same. Just like Jinyoung your tie to Yen could put the mission in Jeopardy. It's a risk we can't afford to take regardless of your skill set."

After further deliberation the team was set. Adarra, Hoseok, Yen, and Mark would make their way into the library to retrieve the item.

The only worry left was about what they were looking for. Thoth had mentioned a Demon book but was that actually the item they needed? They couldn't afford to fail.

There was no more time to plan or deliberate. The time of action was here. The shadow time. The time of the evening set between sunset and darkness.

Hoseok, Mark, and Adarra held onto Yen waiting anxiously for the library to show. The others standing a distance away looking on in hope and worry.

As the library materialized Jaebum opened his mouth to speak words of encouragement but Yen jumped.

The four of them landed in a large hallway. Columns on either side with strange items on top of them. They didn't linger there wasn't time.

They made their way down the hall to a set of golden doors. The four of them enterd a massive room. Artifacts and books encased in glass everywhere.

In the center a glowing book stood. Without voicing their thoughts a loud the four of them silently agreed the center book was a misdirect.

They spilt up. Each one taking a side and corner. Working from the outside in. They weren't quite sure what they expected but emptiness and lack of boobytraps wasn't it.

Adarra was drawn to a tapestry hanging on a wall. The women felt familiar but she couldn't place her. "Yen! Come here."

Yen materialized beside Adarra startling the dragon shifter momentarily. "What cha need?"

"Does she look familiar to you?" Adarra asked pointing at the tapestry.

Yen looked and then narrowed her eyes. "That's Mut. One of the depictions of Donii or Gaea." Yen identified.

"Do you think this is significant? I mean it was her life tapestry that lead us here."

Yen nodded and moved closer. Both girls frantically searching around for something important.

Adarra ran her fingers across the wooden panel beneath the tapestry and heard a click. Yen moved beside her as a drawer opened. Both girls looked down.

A worn, tattered, and yellowed journal of sorts lay snug in a red velvet lined drawer. Adarra went to reach for it. Every fiber in her being screamed that this is what they were looking for.

Yen grabbed her hand stopping her. "Wait. We should call the guys over first. I have a feeling all hell is going to break loose as soon as you touch it. If we're together I ca get us out."

Adarra nodded and waited for Yen to call Hoseok and Mark. The book called Adarra. She was unconsciously reaching for it.

Her fingers wrapped around the frail book just as the guys reached them. The last thought she had was that Yen was right. All hell did break loose.

But they were gone. They escaped without fighting and injury because of Yen. Adarra held up their prize in victory so her family could see.

She was so caught up in the success of the mission she didn't register the shocked and worried faces staring back at her.

"How did you, How did you jump?" Jinyoung stuttered.

Adarra frowned not understanding. "What? Yen jumped us here."

"WHERE IS SHE?!" Tae screamed.

Adarra turned. Hoseok and Mark were behind her but no sign of Yen. She spun completely in horror.

Yen wasn't with them and the library was dissolving back into the shadows for another year.

Adarra fell to her knees.
