The Madrigal-Fontana family
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mateo Vicente Madrigal Fontana
He is a twin, and the oldest child of his family. His gift is to make astral trips to any part of the world by meditation. When he's using his gift, a third eye glows pink on his forehead and he can also levitate. He's the edgy cousin of the family.
Fun facts about him:
Mateo doesn't like his middle name (Vicente). The only one who can call him that is his mother.
He's a calm boy, but gets into trouble very often 'cause he has no filter and can sound "rude."
He's Itzel's favorite child, and they're very close.
He and his twin sister are the closest, and do many things together, and although sometimes he can't stand her and treats her rudely, he's always behind his sister, protecting her.
He likes poetry and is a hopeless romantic.
His favorite place is the beach, and he goes there whenever he needs peace.
When he uses his gift, the pink third eye that appears on his forehead is real and functional. His sister sometimes pokes it to annoy him.
He likes to meditate in Dolores' room.
He's the only one of the Madrigal-Fontana children who got Bruno's wavy hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dalia Elizabeth Madrigal Fontana
She's Dalia, Mateo's twin sister. Dalia has the gift of making clones of herself and other people. She can make up to five clones, and they function as a hive mind if she wants. She can also let them act on autopilot. She's daddy's little princess, and the spoiled brat of her family.
Fun facts about her:
Dalia is Bruno's favorite child. The two of them formed a very strong bond since she was a baby, and Bruno fulfills many of her whims. For the same reason, she grew up accustomed to getting what she wants, and if she doesn't get it, she gets frustrated and cries. She knows that's not okay, and it's something she's still working on.
Since she was a child she's very involved in the theater that her father founded and he relates a lot with her cousin Camilo, so she loves to act, and her biggest influences are the two of them. For that reason she got a gift similar to Camilo's.
Her way of showing affection, in addition words of affirmation, are her jokes. She likes to play pranks on her close family and friends.
She shows off her family quite a bit, and she's a big fan of her parents' relationship.
She gets into trouble easily because she is very talkative, mischievous and witty.
She has a strong sense of loyalty toward her loved ones, so she's the first to defend them when they are getting attacked. More specifically, Bruno and Esmeralda.
Her best friend is her twin brother, and they both watch each other's backs.
She is a good girl, but it's better to have her as a friend than an enemy, because she brings out the worst side of her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perla Esmeralda Madrigal Fontana
And this is Esme, the youngest of the Madrigal grandchildren. Her gift is earthbending. She's a sweet and naive girl, and since her power is directly related to her emotional strength, she's unable to get out of control. She has had problems in the town due to the limited scope of her power, and they often compare her negatively with her father.
Fun facts about her:
Esmeralda is considered the baby of the family, and her parents and siblings treat her as such.
She is abuela's favorite granddaughter because of her resemblance to Bruno, and since Esme was a child, she's been overprotective of her.
She's also very close to Julieta's daughters, especially Isabela. As a child she took her gardening together, which influenced her gift of earthbending.
Despite being introverted, she has always been a very sociable and kind girl, although a little naive.
She is such a crybaby.
She takes guitar lessons with her dad and Mirabel.
She also likes to do crafts with her mom. The two of them are in charge of making the scenery for Bruno's plays.
She is the most attached to Bruno's rats of the Madrigal-Fontana children, and there isn't a day when she doesn't have a rat on top of her.
Of her siblings, she's the most similar to the Madrigal family, and she inherited many of her abuelo Pedro's traits.
She doesn't get along well with her maternal grandmother, who has always preferred her sister Dalia for being more like the Fontanas.
I don't think I've ever published anything of my fankids here, sooo... here they are! I tried to use a color palette consistent with the Madrigal family, without filling it completely with green. It was also very fun to make the patterns representative of their gifts.

I remember seeing something in your tags where you said you had a few ideas for episodes for the Encanto series. Do you mind sharing them with me? if you want of course. (I've already written the basic premise for seasons 1-4 but I'm happy to hear any ideas you got)
ooh of course! these are just some brainstormed thoughts nothing substantial but
- mirabel gets her new room (because we didn’t see it in the movie)
- julieta cooking with her daughters as a bonding exercise
- bruno goes out into the town with his sisters and they talk to the townspeople about everything
- mirabels having nightmares/flashbacks of casita falling on her and starts thinking there’s cracks everywhere
- antonio and Dolores doing literally anything I love them
- alma falls back into old habits but the family’s there to steer her in the right direction
- luisa gets a fun part in her room! (Based on the concept art)
- the husbands + bruno have a boys night out !
- isa and Dolores have a heart to heart when they plan to spend the day together
- camilo and Bruno put on a play for the whole community and the whole family helps!
- pepa brings bruno around to try new things since he’s missed so much
- madrigal grandkids have a sleepover
- triplets flashback to when they first get their gifts and it’s the first week of absolute CHAOS in the encanto
- day of little candles themed ep where alma and the family go to the river and alma tells them all about pedro (maybe a flashback to life before dos oruguitas)
- isabela adjusting to her new identity and the villagers still subconsciously think of her as her “perfect” version
- someones birthday and the family throw the best party ever
- mirabel and bruno reflect on what’s changed and how the future can be scary
- this one’s entirely self indulgent but mirabel goes to the local seamstress to get advice and ends up being taken on board as an assistant
- camilo and Marco get all the town kids to partake in the ultimate encanto football match
- luisa having a day off where the family do everything for her (she deserves it)
- christmas ep because why not!
- flashback to grandkids as younger for some preteen Dolores and isa moments
- antonio starts school and is super nervous and struggles a bit but he has his family for support
- mirabel not being used to having attention on her all the time and feeling like she has to live up to new expectations because she’s “the miracle” (this isn’t her being a leader or anything this is literally just her brain assuming they expect stuff from her)
- triplets bday!! (Can be from any time)
- mirabel and Antonio have a picnic
- Dolores and Mariano get a date set up for them by camilo
- madrigal sisters talk about their feelings from when mirabel went missing
- agustin and julieta have an anniversary coming up so agustin wants to make it the most special ever (shenanigans insue)
- pepa and felix go out for the night and pepa is insanely talented on the dance floor
- all the parents go away and Bruno is left to babysit
- isabela wants to make some friends after not having many due to her wanting to keep up appearances
- Dolores wants a new outfit and goes to mirabel for help
- luisa stands up to the donkey man
- julieta and alma moments
I cant think of more on the spot so if anyone wants to leave suggestions in comments!

Yandere Camilo Madrigal
Word Count: 2,034
Tumblr media
The town of Encanto was extra energised. The bustling streets were more rowdier than ever, the children asking more questions than usual. The atmosphere screamed of excitement and a certain H/C-haired individual was living for it.
You didn't know what was causing people to be so elated but you weren't complaining. It was rather nice to watch from your window. You bet it would be even better going down there and experiencing it for yourself.
With a grin, you scurried out of your room, dashing down the stairs before pecking your mum on the cheek and opening your front door. "Bye mamí!"
"Don't forget to do your chores mija!"
With a skip in your step, you walked out into the sunny streets. Whatever was happening, Pepa must have been thrilled for it.
"Y/N!" The sudden voice coming from your right startled you enough to cause you to jump.
"Ah, José, what's up?"
"Felicidades!"
You blinked twice, an eyebrow quirking upwards not soon after.
'Felicidades'? Why was he congratulating you?
"Uh, thanks I guess?"
As he walked away to join the hustle and bustle of the streets once again, you were left standing in a bubble of confusion.
Before you had time to ponder, though, your arms were grasped by another pair and you were brought up to a lady's face.
"Felicidades, Y/N!" With that, she let go of you before taking off in another direction.
Okay, that was the second time someone had congratulated you today. Weird.
You brushed it off, maybe they were congratulating you on your work ethic or something?
"If it isn't the woman of the day!"
"Mariano?"
Sure enough, there stood Dolores' husband in all of his muscular glory.
"Y/N! I bet you're the most excited out of all of us, huh?" He smiled down at you, beaming with delight.
"Remind me what I'm excited for again?" You were so lost.
"Huh? You've forgotten so quick? You were the one telling everyone about it just the other day." It was Mariano's turn to be confused.
"I was?"
"Yeah, you were going around to almost everyone announcing it with a huge grin."
"Wait wait wait, what was I announcing?"
"That Camilo would propose to you today!"
"Lo siento... WHAT?!"
This was news to you - even though you were, apparently, the one to announce it to everyone.
"What's the matter, cuñada?"
Did he just call you-?!
"Mariano, are you 100% sure it was me going around telling everyone?"
"Who else could it have been?"
Well, you had no recollection of going around announcing your best friend would be proposing to you so, unless you were drunk out of your mind that day, it must have been Camilo posing as you.
That slimy little-.
"I should go, your future sister-in-law will have my head if I'm not back in time." His wink that followed after did nothing to soothe you.
In fact, you didn't even register his words, too busy bubbling up with fury at what the Madrigal you've known since childhood did.
With gritted teeth and eyes as narrow as a river, you made your way to Casita, the building housing the very Madrigal you were furious with.
"Felicidades, Y/N!"
"I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU, AMIGA!"
"FELICIDADES!"
"I can't believe you got so lucky! I want a man like Camilo!"
Every comment that followed after your presence only proved to further enrage you, hot lava filling your veins and steam practically pouring out of your eardrums. Your footsteps were loud and you were sure Dolores was already covering her ears (you'll apologise to her later).
Your whole demeanour screamed of anger like no other.
Casita opened its doors for you, the tiles on the floor already seemed to be shaking from fright and fear for the Madrigal you were about to flip at - yet it made no move to stop you.
"CAMILO!" Your voice was booming, demanding attention right away - attention that was not refused.
"Sí, mi amor?"
Your head tilted upwards, meeting his gaze and that signature smirk you would usually adore but now, found to be quite mocking.
Look at him, leaning against the railing at the top of the stairs so casually as if he'd done nothing wrong. The audacity of the man caused your nails to dig further into your palm, leaving crescents indented in your skin.
"WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" You made no move to lower your volume, uncaring for whether or not the other Madrigals heard you and came to investigate the commotion.
"Whatever do you mean, mi cariño?"
"YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN!"
"Do I?~"
"Camilo." Your tone was stern, a contrast to his playful and mocking one. "Please explain to me why EVERYONE BELIEVES I AM BETROTHED TO YOU?!"
"Hmmm, they seem to think that because of you, amor."
"You know damn well that it wasn't me who went out onto the streets and told everyone you would propose."
"Well, it sure looked like you."
"Did it now?"
The coy behaviour of your childhood friend did not sit well with you. In fact, it only served to piss you off further.
"Camilo, I know you shapeshifted into me and went around telling everyone you would propose today."
"Woah, that's quite a big accusation you have there, cariño."
Oh, you were so sick of his bullshit.
"Don't be coy with me, Madrigal."
"How am I being coy, Madrigal?"
The audacity he had to be declaring you a Madrigal was so unbelievable.
"I am not a Madrigal."
"Not yet."
Your eye twitched, teeth grinding against each other in complete and utter agitation.
"Y/N?" Your attention was drawn away from Camilo and towards his abuela. "You're here early. Dios mío, we haven't even set up the table!"
"Señora Madrigal-!"
"Please, mija, call me abuela." She walked over to you, extending her arms so that she could cup your cheeks and bring you closer to her face. "Such a beautiful girl. Perfect for my Camilo."
Although you weren't facing the aforementioned male, you could tell he wore the biggest shit-eating grin on his face than ever.
"I don't know, Señora. Wouldn't calling you that be disrespectful?" Your eyes darted around, refusing to meet her own as you wondered how you would tell her that you would not, in fact, be accepting Camilo's 'proposal'.
"Nonsense, you are my soon-to-be granddaughter-in-law. You can call me abuela."
"No, you don't understand, Señora, Camilo-."
"Y/N?!" They just keep coming, don't they?
"Señora Pepa, hola."
"Please, call me mamí!" The rainbow that showed up over her head was enough to let you know that she was very excited. No wonder why the weather was so great today.
"I don't think-."
A small body crashed into your own, arms wrapping around your waist. It was Camilo's 10 year-old brother, Antonio.
"Ah, Antonio." Your arms instinctively wrapped around the boy, patting him lightly on the back as though he were your own brother.
"I'm so glad you'll finally be able to be a hermana to me!"
Okay, too many people believed Camilo would actually propose to you. He better end this practical joke of his before you end it for him.
"Camilo." You called for the male who was still leaning against the railing at the top of the stairs, watching with a smirk as his family smothered you with affection. "Are you going to tell them what you did or should I?"
"Whatever do you mean, mi vida?" He refused to let up.
With a piercing glare sent in his direction, you went through with your threat. "Camilo was the one who announced that he would be proposing to me while posing as me."
When his smirk didn't falter, you started doubting yourself. Why was he not panicking? You just told his family of his wrongdoings, he should be scared out of his mind.
"We know, mija." Pepa's casual words froze you, a slight chill going down your spine.
"Wha-what?"
Camilo's smirk only grew wider.
"We wanted to surprise you!" The innocent smile Antonio sent you caused your whole core to shiver in discomfort. Was he even aware of what he was saying? What his family were doing?
"Look." Your hands let go of Antonio as you reached out for the tablet in Señora Alma's hands.
There, you witnessed an image of you and Camilo stood under a canopy, holding each other's hands as you gazed into one another's eyes. Your attire was as clear as day, a wedding gown.
Your pupils shrank as you continued staring at the prophecy before you. It was one of Bruno's prophecies... and his prophecies always come true.
"I'm just so glad it's you that my Camilo has decided to settle down with. You are a wonderful chica, Y/N. You would make for a wonderful Madrigal." Pepa squealed, the sky seeming even more brighter than it already was.
Your eyes didn't leave the plate before you, refusing to believe that it would come to fruition. You didn't love Camilo, you never had, he was always just your mischievous best friend who managed to put a smile on your face whenever you were feeling down. This prophecy, this prediction... it can't be true.
"Do you see that, mi vida?" You almost didn't register the fact that Camilo snaked his arms around your waist, pulling you into his chest and laying his head on your shoulder as he gazed down at the tablet with you. "We're perfect for each other, even fate believes it."
You trembled as your fingers grew weaker, your grip losing it's strength.
"Will you marry me?"
BONUS!
Did fate really believe you were perfect for each other?
Well, no, no it didn't. In fact, fate believed you were perfect for another guy.
But... fate could always be changed, right?
The first time Camilo asked his Tío Bruno for a prophecy regarding you did not go well.
"Who. The. Fuck is that?" He shook with rage, gripping the glass so tightly that it almost shattered under the tension.
"Sorry, kid, can't change fate. Wish I could help you out more." His Tío shrugged it off, used to the negative reactions to his visions by now.
'Can't change fate' huh? What if one of the people in said 'fate' just... magically disappeared?
Camilo's frown contorted into a smirk, malicious intent practically radiating off of him.
"Nothing's impossible though, right Tío?"
.
.
.
"CAMILO!"
The flutter of his heart told him exactly who called out his name.
"Sí, mi cariño?" He turned around with his signature playful smile resting on his face, his cheeks tinted by the slightest bit - as they always do when he spoke to you.
"Did you hear about Andreás? He went missing the other day."
"Really?" Had he been a little less good at acting, you probably would have noticed his surprise was not genuine.
"It's such a shame, he was such a sweet boy. I really was starting to befriend him." Camilo saw the way your lips tugged down into a frown. He couldn't help but feel even more anger towards the topic of the conversation, how dare he bring a frown upon your beautiful face?
"It really is such a shame."
Such a shame that he didn't kill that rodent sooner.
.
.
.
"Would you look at that. The prophecy's changed. Good for you, kid!"
The feeling of utter satisfaction flooded through him as he gazed down at the picture displayed in his hands.
There we go, just as he wanted. He just needed to help fate out a little.
Translations:
Mamí = mum Felicidades = congratulations cuñada = sister-in-law lo siento = sorry mi amor = my love mi cariño = my sweet mi vida = my life sí = yes tío = uncle abuela = grandma chica = girl
In case you couldn't tell, this takes place 5 years after the movie.
Idk if any1's even into Encanto anymore lmao.

The second wip of the Reincarnation AU series; Isabela’s death.
Featuring another sketch at the end.
Time skip of fourteen years. What happened between Mirabel and Isabela’s deaths? You’ll never know.
Comments are always appreciated.
Warning, sensitive topics below: murder and character death.
~~~~~~
So Much Hides Behind My Smile
“Knock, knock? Mi flor? Are you in there?” Someone asks, opening the door.
Isabela is sat at her vanity, carefully taking out the flowers she’d woven into her hair that morning. From the mirror’s reflection, she can see Milagro stood in the doorway, her family going about minding their own business just behind.
It had been a busy day, of course. Her perfect, albeit long awaited, wedding.
“Of course, mi vida. Did you need something?”
“I just came to see you,” he answered, shutting the door behind him. He laughed, walking over to her, just about to set a hand on her shoulder. “Well, it’s been a long day but we’ve finally made it to the wedding night—”
“Get the fuck out of my room.” Isabela snarls.
Milagro blanks for a minute. “Um… where else am I meant to sleep?”
“I don’t care. It’s not my problem.” She seethes, turning back to the mirror.
“In case the rest of the day didn’t clue you in, mi flor, we are unfortunately husband and wife now. It very much is your problem. And from what I understand, the sooner you have a baby, the happier your Abuela will be. Which you’ll have a hard time achieving if you don’t want me here.”
“If you so much as touch my shoulder, I will rip your penis off and feed it to my carnivorous plants.”
Neither says anything more.
But it takes exactly two seconds for them to act.
Milagro goes to charge his entire body into hers but is yanked onto the floor by throned vines, as Isabela throws herself straight onto him.
“How dare you treat me like this!?”
“How dare you!? This is my room and don’t you forget it!”
“Just because you’re a Madrigal doesn’t mean you can get away with everything, princesa!”
They scratch and hiss and hit like wild jaguars, fighting over the last scrap of meat.
It just keeps going.
Not only does he deserve it and worse, she can let out all the steam that’s been building inside her.
~~~~~~
“A perfect match,” Alma hummed, as Bruno poured them all another round of wine. “Isabela deserves the best and that is what she has. They will both bring so much good to the Encanto.”
“I can’t believe it. Where has the time gone?” Bruno added.
Pepa nodded, still drying her hair. “It feels like just yesterday Isabela was born and now she’s married and going to have babies of her own.”
“That will be our Lolita soon,” Félix smiled.
“I’m too young to have grandchildren! We’re too young to have grandchildren! No offence, Mama.”
Alma was in too good a mood to even remotely care.
“Is it really Dolores’ wedding next?” Bruno asked, teasing. “Because I had a little peek into the future and I saw—”
“NO! DON’T YOU DARE RUIN IT! I DON’T WANT TO KNOW!” Pepa shrieked.
Bruno held his hands up in surrender as his sister began a play fight with him, Félix laughed riotously.
“Hey, I was only kidding!”
“Well, I don’t believe you!”
Alma chuckled too, before getting up. “I am going to check on Julieta and Agustín.”
“You do that,” Félix said. “I’ll keep an eye on these two.”
The rest of the grandkids, all of whom were drunk, were out in the courtyard, hyper as anything.
Camilo, Antonio and a variety of animals were dancing while Dolores played some lively tune on her bandola; Luisa singing a completely different song over the top.
Honestly, you wouldn’t know they were adults.
On any other day, she would probably have scolded them and sent them to bed. For now though, she is happy enough to just leave them. They aren’t hurting anyone or causing any trouble, to be fair.
Agustín and Julieta were sat quietly in another room, without the wine. Julieta has been in an odd state for the past few years with seemingly new cure, and Agustín has always preferred to keep some distance from his mother-in-law when he can help it.
But they should be together right now. This is Isabela’s day and they have all been her biggest supporters.
“They certainly make the happy couple,” Alma said, taking a seat beside them.
“Indeed.” Agustín agrees. “I had my doubts about this match, but I’m glad that I’ve been proved wrong.”
“So long as my girls are happy, then I’m happy.” Julieta declares.
“Well, mija, I can attest that Luisa is definitely happy.” She paused, trying to get the pair to hear the carryon happening outside. “And trying to make herself a soprano, apparently.”
After some wonky, forced long note from Luisa, they broke into laughter.
“It’s nice to see the kids are still enjoying life and spending time together,” Agustín remarked, smiling fondly.
Julieta’s smile drops.
“Not all of them.”
~~~~~~
Long after Milagro is gone and her temper has cooled, Isabela heads downstairs.
It’s late now.
The rest of the family is in bed. Or at least in their rooms.
She doesn’t know where Milagro went after she kicked him out, probably the guest bedroom, but she doesn’t care enough to check. He can sleep outside for all she cares.
She heard some footsteps on the way to the kitchen, but brushed them off.
One of Antonio’s animals, no doubt.
In the kitchen, she makes her way over to the coffee pot. It’s half full, just needs to be reheated - no doubt Luisa has beaten her to their usual midnight drinks.
Casita takes over, sliding her signature cup along to her.
“What do you think of all this, Casita?”
A few tiles clink.
“Mirabel? I’d be lectured for at least two hours about failed marriages in history or something if she was still alive.” Isabela glanced to the side. “Can’t imagine how she’d take this… knowing I just went back.”
More clinking.
“Well, what was I meant to do? I couldn’t say no.”
A cupboard smacks her shoulder, lightly.
She chuckled. Taking off the wedding ring.
“Haha, good point. You know, I always thought getting out of the Guzmán engagement would make me happy, and now I’m about two seconds away from committing murder.”
The beams squeak supportively.
“It’s nice to know someone’s got my back.”
The coffee pot, ready, is tilted over Isabela’s cup, filling it to the brim.
“Maybe I’ll let it happen. Let the family see he’s awful and then I’ll be free.”
It smells as good as usual, there’s an underlying hint of something that isn’t coffee though. She shrugs, and drinks it anyways.
Luisa’s been drunk since the ceremony ended, who knows what she’s put in here since. It’s probably alcohol - that she’s added in some spark of creativity. And Isabela isn’t too against the idea of alcohol in her coffee at all - it’s an idea she’ll try later, when she isn’t about to go to bed.
It doesn’t taste any different though.
She lets Casita dispose of the ring.
She returns to her room steadily, not paying much attention to the beautiful decorations that have been hanging since this morning.
It’s one of the odd times where she wasn’t the one to decorate Casita in her flora - it was her day. Abuela had made it very clear that she didn’t want Isabela to lift a finger.
She never really got a chance to admire them this morning either. She’s spent most of the day outside of Casita and when they have been home, she was in her room, getting ready with Dolores, her maid of honour.
Ah well.
They will still be there tomorrow.
All that matters now is that she’s alone, out of that hideous wedding dress and can sleep off her frustration with a drink.
She doesn’t bother switching on the light, just clambers into bed and setting the cup on her bedside table.
The café con leche is as inviting as always.
Tumblr media
[Note reads, not in Isabela’s handwriting:
Dear family,
This is not about you, this is about me. I can’t cope with the pressure of being the perfect Madrigal any longer. I was not made to be a wife and mother - my most sincere apologies to Milagro, mi vida. I tried. You should not blame yourselves. I hope whatever is is next is better than this.
— Isabela]
Last one!! Mirabel’s design and info!!
(I totally did not forget to post her yesterday-)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mirabel one of the madrigals i spend a lot of time on! She left 10 years ago like Bruno, just the difference is that she doesn’t say in the walls, she stays in the attic, sometimes maybe in the walls but her place is the attic. How does she know that no one would go to the attic? Cause no one’s been going in there for years 🤷‍♀️ sometimes mirabel goes outside because she doesn’t like it to be stuck in the house for too long yk- the reason she left was because she couldn’t handle the town and the family no more :| since she’s been in the attic she has a adopted quiet a few animals, she named the biggest and strongest cat Luisa since she reminded her of Luisa a lottt! She’s pretty lonely in the attics, 5 years ago she was still in contact with one person (her best friend) but she didn’t want her burdens to be on her so she broke the contact. Meanwhile in those years she has made a lot of presents for her family, they always questioned from who they were from (some even believe it’s from her) they never complained about the presents though.
Currently she loves spoiling Dolores with presents n all that stuff since she’s talking to her!! (Yessss she’s senorita mariposa) she feels bad for lying but it’s needed.Her clothing is also some project that has been going on, she lost her earrings in the years and couldn’t find it afterwards (Isabela was the one who found it and that made her hopes just go higher that mirabel is alive) she struggles with sleep because her schedule is messed up fr- She made her ruana plain and long on purpose! Since it’s a cover, and it keeps her (mostly the cats) warm.
She misses her sisters a lot, seeing them suffer makes her so upset. Sometimes she just wants to get out of the walls\attic and hug them till forever, but she knows that she will never do it. Plus her sisters aren’t the only ones she’s missing, her little sobrinos are also important to her, she misses them too, even if Dolores has never meet her mirabel already feels bad that she hasn’t been there at her birth. Out of all her sobrino’s she misses Camilo a lot, he was like a little brother to her and she feels so so so guilty to leave him. She hates to see him in his current state right now and she would’ve done anything to change it, if she only had the strength.
I haven't written Encanto fic in a minute, huh? Anyway I banged this out in half an hour to stop me killing my co-workers, enjoy!
Tumblr media
One of the girls was passing it around in the back of church. This silly little folded paper star; you picked a number and a colour and it told your fortune. "You'll marry a rich man," Sofia Quintero whispered, to a chorus of giggles. "Pepa; do you want to try?"
Pepa Madrigal tossed her shiny auburn curls over one shoulder. "No thanks," she said haughtily. "I don't need toys to tell me my future. I can see it whenever I like."
"Pleeeeease Bruno!"
Pepa hung on the end of her brother's ruana as he stomped from room to room. "Please let me see. It's important! I can't let Sofia Quintero and her stupid piece of paper win."
Bruno ignored her.
"I'll do your chores for a week?"
He paused; just for a second, but Pepa noticed. Pepa always noticed. To everyone else, her brother was as hard to read as still water; to her, it was nothing at all.
"Please?" she begged. "Please. Please please please please pleeeeee--"
"Alright, alright!" Bruno stamped his foot, sandal slapping on the tile. "Jeez, Pep; what does it matter anyways?"
Pepa's face darkened. "It. Matters. You're a boy; you don't get it."
"Bruno's shoulders slumped. He didn't think it had anything to do with being a boy. But there was no arguing with Pepa when she got like this. "Ugh. Go get Juli. Might as well make it a party."
And a party it was; Juli smuggled snacks up to Bruno's room after bedtime and Pepa brought some blankets and stuffed animals from her room. They hadn't had a sleepover in Bruno's room in years.
"Ooooooooh!" Juli crowed as, in hues of green, an older version of Pepa was dipped by a handsome, dark-skinned man. "Oooooooooooh, Pepa, he's handsome!"
"I know," Pepa simpered; gracious and faux-humble, like she'd won a prestigious award. "I know."
Bruno wrinkled his nose as the man closed the distance between his lips and Older-Pepa's. "D'we have to watch the kiss?"
"YES!"
"Okay, okay, fine."
"Do me next," said Julieta, leaping onto Bruno's back and shaking his shoulders. "Me next, me next! I want to see my true love, Bruno!" She sighed dramamtically, her eyes going wide and dreamy. "I bet he's strong and graceful and a little bit bad. Not bad-bad, but just...bad enough. You know?"
Bruno had no idea.
Sand fell all around them as the vision ended. "Okay, Bruno sighed, handing the tablet to Pepa without even glancing her way. She squealed happily and kissed her future husband's glass cheek in delight. "Gimme one'a those arepas first. Gotta get my strength back. I'm fourteen, yanno. No spring chicken."
"Thank you Brunito."
"You're welcome, Oven Girl. Glad I'm here for you two to - to exploit."
"Bruno!"
"Don't make us feel bad; that's not fair!"
"S'okay, I'll accept payment in baked goods. Lucky for you."
As much as he complained, Bruno relished the time with his sisters. It was a memory he often looked back on fondly as they grew up, especially as the girls started courting and fell in love. It was nice to see their lives unfolding like that; like the end of the story written just under a folded piece of paper, out of sight for everyone else but them.
So when Dolores came to him - nine years old, shyly tugging on the hem of his ruana - and started talking bout one of her little playmates using some fortune telling game in school that day, he chuckled softly under his breath. "Sure, kiddo," he said, hoisting his sobrina onto his shoulders. "C'mon. Let's go see your husband, huh?"
...He raised his eyebrows in surprise at that. Favorite people? Was he included on that list? Julieta just smiled and turned back to the dishes. It took Bruno a moment, but he also slowly resumed his duties, finding he couldn't put away the little smile on his own face that had arrived at the thought that he might be someone's favorite.
I drew from my fic La Traes again for @encantober-official Day 2 - siblings. This scene is a little exchange that happens between the triplets--the OG siblings. You can find the whole thing below the cut.
“You need to get out of the house, hermanito,” Julieta had said to him gently one evening after dinner as they washed dishes together. “It’s…been a while, sí?”
“Eso se queda corto,” Pepa had mumbled as she dumped some more dishes into the soapy water, earning a glare from both of her siblings. [ That's an understatement.] She widened her eyes at them as if to say What? Am I wrong?
“I’m just saying ,” Julieta continued, pointedly moving past Pepa’s comment, “that it might do you some good, to have a little more change of scenery.”
“I-I think I’m doing just fine,” he replied a bit defensively. And he did. He went for walks with Dolores around the perimeter of Casita, down to the river where it ran past the southwest edge of the grassy lawn. Sometimes he’d wander out back behind the house, napping in the afternoon sun before it disappeared behind the mountainous wall that guarded the back of their home. Compared to the previous ten years, he was a veritable expeditionist now.
“Of course you are,” Pepa said, putting an arm around his shoulders. He hunched them in response, glancing at her suspiciously.
“Y-yeah?”
“Yeah! You’ve made it to the edge of the grass! That’s like, what, un kilómetro cuadrado, yeah? A completely normal amount of space for a person to exist in.”
[One square kilometer.] Bruno’s frown deepened. “You’re mocking me.”
Pepa winked at him.
“A-alright, alright,” he said, waving his hands in the air beside his head in surrender. “I’ll, uh, I'll go to the banana fields tomorrow. As long as it’s not a harvest day,” he added, pointing a finger at Julieta, who rolled her eyes good-naturedly at him. “Or an irrigation day. Or you know…a-a day with other, um, other people there.”
The busyness of rebuilding Casita last year had given him enough social interaction outside his immediate family to last him quite a while…a very long while. Thankfully, he’d been able to largely lose himself in the organized chaos of it all, and Mirabel had been particularly helpful, working as a liaison between him and anyone he’d had to interact with, smoothing the awkwardness away with her easy conversation and joyful presence. And he had managed to largely ignore the curious stares that came from, well, from pretty much everyone until the novelty of his return had worn off. Well…at least he had pretended to ignore them.
“I don’t want to pressure you, arenoso,” Julieta said gently, putting a slightly soapy hand on his shoulder. “I just don’t want…”
…don’t want you to get lost again. She’d let her sentence trail off, but the unspoken ending hung awkwardly in the air anyway. They’d both turned back to their dishes, with Pepa standing stiffly beside them, hugging a freshly dried plate to her stomach. The cloud above her head darkened just a little. Bruno winced down at the soapy water as the silence surrounding them grew painful.
“H-hey, maybe you can spend the day with Antonio tomorrow?" Pepa offered nervously, popping the tension like a soap bubble. "He needs a…a break …from routine, too."
Bruno and Julieta looked at their sister with matching frowns, both narrowing their eyebrows in concern. It would have been comical or even sweet to see the same expression mirrored between her two siblings again…if she didn’t feel the weight of the very same concern pulling down the corners of her own mouth.
Antonio had been struggling to find a place for himself in the Madrigal visits to town. Before his gift, he might have shyly clung to Mirabel’s skirts or played in the dirt while Pepa rained on the fields, never quite brave enough to venture out to play with the other children on his own, refusing to speak to the adults that smiled down at him. Pepa worried about his shyness.
But now a different problem had presented itself. Antonio was now more than happy to engage with anyone and everyone, possessing a newfound courage with his animal friends by his side, but his animal friends were also decidedly wild, and even Antonio could not control every move they made. Just last week, some monkeys that had trailed him into the town had wandered away and found some storage crates of fruit, working together to drop them from the roof of a nearby house until the crates smashed open and spilled out a feast that was then fit only for them. The owner of the crates had not been happy.
Most of the jungle animals had largely maintained a healthy, fearful distance from the bustling, busy streets of the Encanto for the fifty years it had occupied the valley, but Antonio’s warmth and friendship seemed to have blurred that boundary, and Abuela was struggling to find a balance between loving encouragement and civic order. And when Abuela struggled with something, all the Madrigals struggled with her, in one way or another.
“...Mamá suggested that maybe Antonio might spend some time in the forest paths, playing with his gift,” Pepa explained, putting away the plate so she could pull at her braid. A knowing glance between all three siblings conveyed the underlying meaning of the word play—learn to get it under control. “Félix was going to take him, but you two get along so well, Bruno. Maybe you could spend some time with him, and you both could enjoy the fresh air. You know. Bonding?”
Bruno blew out an exaggerated breath, his cheeks puffing and his shoulders dropping dramatically. He pulled his mouth to the side and looked at Pepa with an expression of reluctant concession. How could he say no to a whole day with his sobrino? He loved the kid. And the very fact that Abuela had been the one to suggest the break from town…well. He knew what that felt like. No matter how nicely she put it, how lovingly she intended it, he knew it would feel like a punishment to Antonio. That thought…well that thought broke his heart a little.
“...F-fine,” he mustered in response. “We’ll go for a walk in the–- ” he swallowed dryly“ –- i-in the forest.”
A bit of sunlight broke through from behind the cloud above Pepa’s head, and Bruno couldn’t help but flash a small, crooked smile up at it. She pulled him sideways by his collar and planted a kiss on his cheek, which he winced at but accepted gratefully. Julieta nudged him with her hip.
“There you go! That will be fun,” she said happily, clearly convinced this was a fantastic solution for all parties. Bruno was not so sure. “Take Mirabel with you, too, if you want. You know she’d love to join her two favorite people for the day.”
Bruno had raised his eyebrows in surprise at that. Favorite people? Was he included in that list? Julieta had just smiled and turned back to the dishes. It had taken Bruno a moment, but he also slowly resumed his duties, finding he couldn’t put away the little smile on his own face that had arrived at the thought that he might be someone’s favorite.
So here he was now, sharing a picnic blanket with a sloth and a capybara—among other crawling, flittering things—nursing a bruised ego after having been tackled by a six year old on a jaguar, all because he was a pushover who couldn’t say no to time with his sobrinos.
Caray. The things I get myself into…
Deceiver Chapter 1 - Villain Camilo au (rewrite)
Tumblr media
TW: Some cussing
As always likes, reblogs. and comments are appreciated. Questions are fine as well.
Special thanks to @miracles-and-butterflies and @evostar for the inspiration.
These past several months have been the best fun Camilo has ever had. He bonded a little more with his family and that's the best thing he could ever ask for. Pranking people with Isabela, games with Dolores & Antonio, relaxing/talking about whatever with Mirabel/Luisa, and writing stories with his new Tio Bruno. Ok, well he's not new but still.
Not only that, but he's not forced to perform or babysit some random kid anymore. Don't get him wrong, he loved performing and babysitting but...it was getting a bit much for him.
A few years after his ceremony, it became expected for him to perform. To make people laugh. So much so that people would actively seek him out in hopes for him to make them laugh.
After he turned nine, he was given children to babysit. A few cousins on his papa's side of the family. No biggie. But after that, word spread around the Encanto, and he just became the designated babysitter of the place.
2, 3, 4, sometimes six or seven kids at a time that he was forced to look after. And at the time, he couldn't refuse. The family image was on the line and wanted to make abuela the miracle proud.
So, he dealt with it. All the times he wanted to relax he had to perform to make crowds or kids happy. If you need an extra Luisa you can just go to him. He can’t mimic her build and the strength she would have without her gift to help carry or lift whatever you needed…To hell with his own relaxation.
“Hey, it's Camilo! Tell us a story,  we know you have a good one to share”
“I’ve been down lately, say something to lift my spirits”
“Say something funny, I'm so bored!”
Any time he tried to refuse he would be peer pressured into it. Or told how he was supposed to help. Sometimes he would get scolded if he said no too many times.
"You are a Madrigal for god's sake, you can't help me for a couple of hours?"
"Just take Elicia now, I'll be back in a couple of hours!"
"What's with the attitude?!"
"You watch that attitude young man, or I'll tell Alma how rude you've been."
And usually, when asked to go to a certain place, he usually has to be someone else.
"Hey, I need you to be me for a couple of hours. I do not want to go to that wedding"
"Can you be me at my sister's birthday party? I really don't want to go"
"I need you to be me and go on a date with my girlfriend. She's really been getting on my nerves lately and I just need to break"
"You're Camilo Madrigal, right? Turn into Isabela and do something funny"
Just constant pressure to be that happy go lucky town jester, doppelganger, and babysitter. Not to mention that his gift was taxing on his body. Every shift took more energy out of his body but how was he supposed to explain that? To children especially?
All the food he ate would barely even give him the energy he needed because he would be out of it two hours after breakfast or lunch.
There were days where just wanted to pass out from exhaustion, but he couldn't, you know why? Because he was Camilo Madrigal, Alma Madrigal's grandson, a bearer of the Miracle his abuelo died to give.
He was never allowed to be sad, angry, or any version of upset. Just a happy sunshine boy who would make you smile if you demanded asked him to. Camilo can’t even remember when he actually let himself feel anything besides joy.
But after the magic left...that all stopped. And even when someone tried to pin a child on him, one of his parents, sister, or primas would shoo the person away in their own way.
Things were getting so much better for him and the family as a whole. Sure...there are some issues that haven't been said on Camilo's part but...he has all the time in the world to say something right?
He has all the time in the world to tell his family that he has trouble understanding who he is. How he has trouble seeing who the person is in the mirror when he looks at it. When he looks in the mirror he’s too scared to see whether it’s himself or someone else hiding underneath.
How he still has issues letting himself feel negative emotions but…the magic isn't going to come back to distract everyone. So everything is going to go great.
-
Camilo watched as his hermanito gave Mirabel the doorknob. His smile widened and his heart swelled at the wholesome sight. As she walks up to it, they all come close.
"We see how bright you burn"
He sings with his family. He, his Hermana, and parents smiled warmly at her.
"We see how brave you've been"
"Now see yourself in turn"
Mirabel's sisters and parents do the same. Everyone in the family, including Abuela, looks at her proudly. She finally makes it up to the new family door. Tio bruno now stands beside tia julieta and tio agustin. Man, has he grown since the start of all this. Still a little skittish and scared of people but he’s genuinely trying and making progress.
All of them stay behind her, silently showing that it's her time to shine. She puts the doorknob in the hole and as soon as she does, magic sparks from it. Camilo's heart raced with fear...this isn't happening. He watched as the magic swirled around the house and all over the Encanto. Feeling the magic pulsate through his veins again.
No.
No. No. No. No. No. No! No! No!
NO!
This can't be happening right now. Not after all this time, it can't be. The magic felt agonizingly warm within his body. He never wanted to feel this warmth ever again in his entire life.
"Hola Casita!" Mirabel smiled and waved at the home.
The happy house started making music with its tiles, doors, windows, and anything else it could finally control again. With so much excitement, Casita bounced the stone floor under Mirabel and welcomed her in first.
"Come on! Get in here!"
youtube
Casita did the same for everybody and slid everyone in using the ground they stood on. The joy was ultimately infectious to everyone but Camilo. He was still trying to process what the hell was going on.
"Calm down Camilo, our gits aren't back. It's just Casita, that's all" He thought to himself as everyone was piled in. "Surely, they wouldn't come back...right?"
Boy was he wrong, one by one, gift by gift. Isabela got her flower powers, Antonio could speak to his animals, Luisa got her super strength back. Pepa was happily dancing with small bits hail over her head. Felix cheering her on as always.
That must mean...no, no no no, it didn't. It couldn't have. He's happily gift less.
But he knew his gift was back. He could feel it in his very soul. Camilo was scared, frightened even. Does this mean things will go back to how it used to be?
Was he going to be the town jester and doppelganger and babysitter again? Was he now going to constantly be told to be someone other than himself?!
No, no, he won't let that happen.
Camilo looked around at the scene. Everyone seemed so happy and jovial while he was in a state of turmoil. Milo was feeling overwhelmed. He has to make this stop. He has to-
Suddenly, the tiles under his feet moved him to the center of the courtyard. Snapping him out of his thoughts.
Wait, what's happening?! he thought as his eyes looked around confused. The family all posed as the camera was brought out and bounced over to them with a rat on top of it.
"Everyone together!" Alma said cheerfully
Huh?!
"La Familia Madri-" Everyone was cut by Casita making them all huddle in too close together. Resulting in a funny but cute family photo.
After the family broke apart a little bit, Milo was given some space to think. If you could call it that. His mind was practically racing with all those horrible memories of how things used to be.
Dolores looked at him as she heard his heart racing. To be fair, everybody's hearts were racing but she was the closest to him at the moment.
She looked at his face. He wasn't smiling. He looked perplexed to say the least...and a little scared. Which was odd, this was supposed to be a joyous moment right?
She stepped a little closer to him and put her hand on his shoulder. A small way to get his attention.
"Milo...you okay?" She asked softly and quietly, he was close enough for him to hear but quiet enough for others to barely acknowledge.
There's no candle...nothing to snuff out. Nothing to make the magic go away. It's going to happen all over again. No one is going to want me for me anymore. I have to get rid of it. GET RID OF IT! GET RID OF IT! But how?! Did Mirabel bring it back? no...wait, the doorknob...THE DOORKNOB-
"Camilo?!"
Dolores spoke a little bit louder as she nudged his shoulder. Camilo looked at her in shock and looked around. His heart was still going rapidly.
"Camilo are you alright?!" She asked him while she looked into his eyes. She saw panic in his eyes, and he wasn't saying anything...he must be having a panic attack.
Her concerned voice alerted her parents Pepa looked at her son and stepped a little closer, putting her hand on his cheek.
"Mijo, are you okay?"
Camilo finally snapped out of his thoughts "I- I uh...yeah, I'm just...shocked is all" he chuckled nervously. Which wasn't a lie, he was shocked.
"Your heart was going really fast milo, are you sure-"
"I'm sure Dolores!" Camilo answered with a slightly irritated tone. He didn't mean that. Quick idiota, change your attitude "Heh....I'm okay, I'm happy"
Ok, very odd. He was telling the truth but there was something he wasn't saying. Dolores, Pepa, and Felix could see it.
"Mijo...if there's something wrong you can say it." Felix said sincerely.
"I'm fine papa, really"
The party continued and everything was going well. Camilo joined in on the fun as well. But only to appear just as happy as everyone else was. But on the inside, he was feeling everything but happy.
"The magic is back now" a voice in his head said.
"You know what that means," Another voice said.
"Everything will go back to how it used to" another said.
"You're going to be the villages Mamita and bufón again"
"It'll all go back to everyone never wanting you, just someone who doesn't even act or look like you"
What is happening?! Where are these voices coming from...why are they saying this to me... Camilo thought to himself.
"We're saying it because it's true milo. Everything is going to go back to normal...unless you take that doorknob out of the front door of course."
This was becoming very concerning to him...but he felt like they were right. He didn't want to go back to that, he can't go back to that! He needs that doorknob gone.
When he noticed the attention wasn't on him, he snuck out to the front of the house and stood in front of the door.
It was a happy little door. It had everyone on it as a family. Cami couldn't deny that it was a sweet sight. But he wasn't really in the mood right now for sentimental value. He looked down at the doorknob, staring into it intently. It glowed so beautifully with that 'M' carved into it. Oh, how he hated it.
"Go on!"
"I can't!"
"Just take it already!"
"What if it doesn't work?"
"You want to go back to how things were? At least try it!"
Camilo internally argued with himself for a few more seconds until he reached out and gripped out. He tugged softly the first time, no budge. He tugged harder, still, it didn't budge.
“Puta madre!! Why Mirabel, WHY?! You just have to fuck everything up don’t you?!” Camilo seethed to himself. There was definitely no way of removing the magic this time. That doorknob more than likely wouldn’t budge unless Mirabel herself wanted to remove it.
He wanted to cry, he wanted to scream, to punch something ANYTHING! This isn’t fair. He can’t go back to being other people! He can’t go back to babysitting every kid in Encanto without a choice in the matter.
“I don’t even know who I am at all and it’s all their fault! Those soul sucking ungrateful villagers. I never even got a thank you for watching their kids! Never a “thank you” for pretending to be someone else for them! I'm not going to let anyone force me back into that corner, EVER! I will burn this entire encanto DOWN to the ground before that happens again!”
Camilo’s heart was racing fast as he stared at the glowing door. Those smiles were so adorable…so mocking. He looked at the glowing version of himself “drawn” onto the door. He reached up to it and touched it.
The door felt sickeningly warm to the touch. He could feel the music from inside vibrating off of it. Milo took his hand away with a scowl etched into his lips. He chuckled but there was no joy in it. Only disdain.
Before he could think anything else the door swung open and hit him straight in the face, knocking him down.
“OW!” Camilo groaned as he sat up off the ground clutching his face.
“Huh? Oh sorry Milo, I didn’t know you were there” A voice said apologetically. Camilo instantly recognized it as Isabela’s.
He looked up and saw her. She was completely covered in a variety of pollen colors but the most obvious one was dark blue. She held her hand out and Camilo begrudgingly took it. Next to her was a giddy and bouncy Antonio.
“Did you kick the door open?!” He said as he rubbed his hurt nose.
Isabela shrugged, “Yeah, lo siento. Now come on, Casita said that some of us have new additions to our gifts. Antonio wants you to try something”
Camilo looked down and was met with Antonio’s beaming face, “Cami! Dolores can turn her gift off when she wants too, that’s so cool right?! Isabela can make all kinds of plants now, even poisonous ones! I’m not sure what I or mama or Luisa can do yet but I want you to try something!”
Camilo took in all of that information and reminded himself that he wasn’t smiling, so he pretended that he was just as happy as Antonio, “Oh really? Well, what do you want me to try?”
“Try shapeshifting into animals por favor!”
Milo was taken back by that, animals? He remembered trying that once as a kid and nothing happened.
“I- I don’t know tonito-”
“Pleeeeeease!” Antonio begged with that adorable smile and big eyes. Who can say no to that
Camilo sighed and kneeled down to be at his hermanito’s level “fine, any specifics?”
“A jaguar, like Parce!” Antonio bounced with anticipation and joy.
The teen boy looked up at Isabela, who just shrugged and put a hand on her hip as she waited. He looked back down at Antonio and stood back up.
“Well…worth a shot” Camilo shrugged and closed his eyes.
Milo focused on the image of Parce in his head and breathed a deep sigh. His eyes closed and breathing calm. After ten seconds he opened his eyes. He looked at Antonio and up at Isabela, then down at the ground.
Paws…he sees paws! He tried to circle around but he would just trip over himself seeing as it’s the first time he’s walking in cat form. But that didn’t deter him at all. He was ecstatic.
“I- I did it! I turned into jaguar! I can shift into animals-”
“Pffft-” Isabela snickered and Antonio giggled at the sight. Camilo assumed it was because he was walking funny. Nope.
“You missed a spot primo!” Isabela pointed at her face
“Que?”
“Your head isn’t a jaguar head. And you have a human backside” Antonio giggled. In a quick pace, tonito asked Casita to open the front door. The house obliged and did what it was asked. Before Camilo could get a word out Antonio shouted that everyone come see Camilo in a jaguar form.
“No wait! Don’t!” Milo wasn’t a fan of his weird shifting quirks. They always acted up at the worst times and he hated it. Now was one of those times. The more he tried to shift back into any other animal or just himself he would just shift into a different animal with strange human likeness.
By the time people were outside they saw the amalgamation that was a half donkey, horse, and teenage boy. It caused people, especially his family, to laugh at this shifting quirk. It was causing him to panic and shift more uncontrollably.
He didn’t want this, he didn’t want to be the town entertainment again. Milo stopped to focus on the ground. In this form his legs looked to be a donkey's legs, horse torso, and a capybara face with his normal hands and hair.
Alma came up to him with tears in her eyes as she chuckled, “aye milo, still trying to make everyone laugh I see”
This isn’t happening right now…it couldn’t be. He wanted this to be a horrible dream but all of it felt too real to be. The laughs were so loud and annoying. His heart was beating really fast and all he could do was just look around in embarrassment.
Pepa saw the panic in his eyes and her smile quickly faded, as well as her rainbow. She quickly walked over to him. Felix noticed her expression and followed suit.
Pepa stood by him and patted his head in order to calm him down “Cami, you alright?”
Camilo looked up at her and looked back at everyone else. He was not okay. He needed to not be the center of attention right now. He tried to shift into his human form but that just caused so much more embarrassment for him.
Not to mention that all of this unorthodox shifting was hurting him. His bones and skin just shifted into so many things so many times. It was painful.
Please stop! Please stop! Please stop! Please stop! Please stop! PLEASE STOP! He thought to himself. With a final scream of frustration he finally shifted back into himself. He checked himself over. Normal hands, normal face, normal body, normal feet.
His breathing was quick and uneven. His heart beating a thousand beats per second. And…he was crying. Tears were falling down his cheeks and his body was shaking.
“Camilo” Felix looked down at his son with concern and bent down to pick him up by the arm. “Hey, hey mijo! Breath, look at me!”
The teen couldn’t hear him. In fact, Camilo could still hear and see the villagers laughing at him. Even if they weren’t anymore. The laughter got louder and louder to him, never stopping.
This frightened Camilo and he ran past all of them. Pushing and knocking over whoever he can to get inside Casita. The voices calling out to him were unheard as he rushed up Casita’s stairs and into his room.
It was still the same as it used to be. A large theater with a big stage. The only difference was that the lights were much brighter than they used to be. And they were directly on him and followed his every movement as he ran past the audience seats and on top of the stage.
He moved the curtain back and his old king sized bed was there with all of its yellow, orange, and red pillows, blankets, and sheets. On the right of his bed was a large rectangular mirror with the classic round light bulbs decorating all sides of it.
“Casita…please,” Camilo whimpered as tears fell down his cheeks. Laughter was still echoing in his head. “Make it stop!”
He covered his ears like his hermana used to when noise became too much for her.
Why is this happening to me?! I just want things to be normal! Why can’t I be normal, why can’t this family be normal?! Camilo fell to his knees and tightened his hold on his head.
Why did Mirabel have to touch that fucking doorknob! This is all her fault, her fault, her fault, HER FAULT! Everything was fine before that. My life was going to be normal and now it’s back to how it was! Those people are going to use me again…no…
Camilo’s eyes widened as he stumbled upon a thought, “Those people…those ungrateful ass people! How dare they laugh at me?! After all the turmoil I went through to make them happy…that’s how they repay me”
The teen boy chuckled, then giggled, and soon he started to laugh. Loudly and Maniacally. This was it, Camilo finally snapped.
“I’ll make them pay”
On the outside of his room, Dolores was downstairs at the kitchen table trying her best to listen in on her hermano. But she couldn’t hear anything. She did hear him crying but then it just stopped as quick as it started. The only thing she could hear was his heart beat. There was a thought that he was just doing this to get attention but Camilo would never do that.
“Do you hear anything?” Pepa asked with concern in her voice. The only reason she didn’t barge into his room is because Felix stopped her. He wanted to see him too but didn’t want to overstep a boundary.
Dolores shakes her head, “No, mama his room is soundproof”
Antonio looked up at his hermana and parents, “Is he gonna be ok?”
Felix looked down at his youngest son sympathetically, “He’ll be ok mijo, he was just uh…a little embarrassed”
“A little my ass” Pepa thought to herself as she was stroking her braid. A small gray cloud over her head.
“He was crying though” Antonio doubted and sank back into his chair a little bit.
The table went quiet as everyone went into deep thought. He looked really panicked, hurt (both physically and emotionally), and embarrassed. Most of them thought he may have been having a panic attack but Dolores informed them his heart rate has slowed down. Which was also a calming thing to know for her as well.
“If I was in his situation I would’ve cried and ran off too” Bruno admitted quietly as he fiddled with his fingers.
Camilo breathed in a deep sigh and stared at himself in the mirror. For once in a long time, Camilo saw his face staring back at him. He was sure of himself now…and knowing that put a sinister smile on his face.
He tilted his head as he noticed something…man he needed a wardrobe change.
I need a better style than this. Oh! I know Mami and Dolores would love to help me with that! Tonito and Papi would too. Milo stood up and walked away from the mirror, swiping the curtains out of his way and walked down the stage stairs.
Once he made it out of his room he closed his door lightly and leaned his back on it.  A big and chipper smile appeared on his lips. A soft and happy voice to go with it.
“Dolores, can you and Mami come upstairs please? I want a makeover”
Encantober prompt #17: Home
“Are you gonna eat that?”
Bruno turned to look at the young man in the yellow ruana eyeing the plate that rested on his lap. He’d barely put a dent in the big, heaping slice of pastel borracho that Julieta had served him. Bruno raised a brow. “It’s rum cake, Camilo. You know your ma would have a hurricane if I gave you any.” Camilo pouted. “There’s a bunch of people here,” he said, gesturing to the crowd that filled Casita’s courtyard. “Lots of distractions. She’ll never know.” “I know!” Dolores piped up, appearing on Bruno’s other side.  “Are you gonna tell on me?” Camilo asked with a smirk. “Because I think Mamá would be more interested to hear who you’ve been sneaking around with after dark!” He shifted into the form of Mariano, leaning forward in front of his uncle and puckering his lips at Dolores. Bruno shrank back a bit, trying to keep his plate balanced on his lap as he shifted on the small stool he had moved to a dim, quiet corner of the courtyard in order to distance himself from the festivities.
Dolores crossed her arms and turned away with a huff. Mirabel came up behind Camilo and elbowed him in the side, causing him to revert back to his original form. “I told you to check on him, not his food!” she hissed. She looked at Bruno. “Tío, are you okay? Don’t you want to join Mamá and Tía Pepa? They’re about to open presents.” She nodded toward the center of the courtyard, where a round table piled high with wrapped packages tied with twine and brightly-colored ribbons awaited the birthday girls. Bruno clutched the brim of his plate, staring straight ahead at the gift table. “I can see fine from here,” he murmured, even as both Luisa and Agustín, the two tallest members of the family, moved directly in front of the table, blocking his view.
Mirabel looked from them to Bruno, who didn’t seem to notice that a rat had climbed onto his lap and was now helping itself to the pastel borracho. She had a feeling he wouldn’t want one of his furry companions to get drunk, so she gently lifted the plate off his lap and set it on a nearby window ledge. Only then did Bruno break his searing gaze into nothingness and look up at her.
“You can’t open your presents from here,” she told him, with a hint of a well-meaning smirk. Bruno stared at her as if she’d sprouted a second head. “I have presents?” “Of course you do! It’s your birthday too, isn’t it?” “Well, technically it is,” Bruno conceded, “but Mamá said she wasn’t sure if I was born before or after midnight because Papá was too busy holding her hand to check his watch, so…” he lifted a hand and made a so-so gesture. “You should call dibs on tomorrow so you can have your own birthday party,” Camilo mumbled through a mouthful of cake. Mirabel spun around to see him helping himself to the plate she’d set aside. “CAMILO!” “It’s alright,” Bruno muttered, standing up. He set the rat on the ledge beside his plate and brushed the crumbs off his ruana. “Parties aren’t really my thing.” The rat approached the plate, which Camilo permitted when it became clear that it was only interested in lapping up the excess icing around the cake. Mirabel grabbed Bruno’s hand. “Come on! You still have to open your presents!” Bruno shook his head and made a feeble attempt to extract his hand. “I’d really rather not. It’s their party, not mine.” He nodded to where his sisters were standing by the gift table. “My presence would sour it.”
The miserable look in her uncle’s eyes was enough to make Mirabel let go of his hand. Bruno slowly put his hood up, and the face of the man under it was not Hernando the Fearless, but rather, that of a despondent stranger. While gifts were being opened to the cheers of friends and family alike, the nearly forgotten Madrigal began to grow more and more distant, until finally he had turned away, intent on shuffling away into the shadows. Before he could, however, a gentle hand had taken his, turning the palm face-up, and placed a small, light package in it. Bruno stared at the present, wrapped in the same parchment paper that held the big chunks of chocolate that Julieta bought from the market when the girls were dealing with that time of the month. He was tempted to hold it to his nose for a whiff of chocolate residue, but decided against it. Mirabel would probably think he’d spent too much time with his rats if his first inclination was to sniff the gift she’d just given him. He gave his niece a questioning look. Mirabel wrung her hands together. “I’m sorry it’s not something better,” she murmured, looking at the ground. “Between rebuilding Casita and other things, I didn’t have a lot of time to work on something big.” She must have sensed Bruno’s eyes on her, because she finally looked up and offered a shy smile. “I hope you like it.” Bruno said nothing, too surprised by the gesture to even remember that perhaps he should say something. He looked down at the package again. It was tied with a simple bow of emerald green yarn, which he carefully undid. Inside was a piece of cloth which, upon unfolding, revealed itself to be a handkerchief. A dark green hourglass had been embroidered in one corner, and in the opposite, a light green rat. The remaining corners contained two letters, stitched in gold: B in one corner, and M in the other.
Bruno stared at it for a long time, slowly turning it this way and that in order to take in each and every detail. He looked up at Mirabel. “This is beau–”
“THERE HE IS!”
Bruno nearly jumped out of his skin when a thick hand clapped him hard on the back. Felix chuckled and drew him in for a one-armed hug. “Thought you could sneak away, eh birthday boy? Get your culo over here! You’re missing your own party!” Bruno could only squeak in protest as his brother-in-law effectively had him in a headlock as he was dragged toward the center of the courtyard. Moments later, the scruffy third triplet was dumped rather unceremoniously between his sisters.
Bruno glanced about nervously, attempting to regain his composure after being literally strong-armed into the spotlight. A rumble of thunder caught his attention as a menacing little cloud formed over Pepa’s head. “Ay, Felix, I said not to force him!” she hissed, placing a protective arm around her brother.
On Bruno’s other side, Julieta touched his shoulder. “Are you alright, hermano? You know you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.”
Bruno sighed and shook his head. “No, it’s fine. I’m here now, so…” he shrugged. He knew it was worse to show up and then excuse himself than to not be there at all, so he accepted his fate. The handkerchief was still in his hand, so he quickly folded it up and tucked it into the breast pocket of his shirt, making a mental note to thank Mirabel properly when he got the chance. All Bruno could do now was stand there, shoulders hunched, looking as small as possible as he prayed that his fifty-first birthday was the one that would surely give him the gift of camouflage. All the while Agustín gave a rambling speech about the best esposa, cuñada, and cuñado a man could ask for. It wasn’t until the crowd applauded that Bruno finally allowed himself a peek at the gift table.
He blinked. All of the presents had already been opened. Not one of them had been for him. He hadn’t really expected anyone to give him anything, but his heart sank a little nonetheless. That meant that, aside from Mirabel, nobody had thought of him. Not even his own sisters. Maybe it was for the best. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
When it was over - when the party was finally over and done with - Bruno excused himself and headed up to his room. And it was there, lying in a large pile against and around his door, that he found them. One present from each and every member of the family, from Alma to Antonio. Bruno stood there, staring in utter disbelief, like a child finding presents under the tree on Christmas morning. “We thought you’d prefer it this way,” said Pepa, standing beside him. “We know you don’t like crowds or big parties, especially on our birthday,” added Julieta, at his other side.
Bruno looked from one sister to the other, trying but failing to get any coherent words out. He gulped some air down, managing to choke a little. “It’s not… this isn’t…” “You can open them in your room, if you want,” Julieta told him, “and then thank everyone at breakfast tomorrow morning.” Bruno shook his head, gesturing frantically with both hands at the presents. “I don’t… I…”
Pepa sensed his rising panic and squeezed his hand. “Relax, Bruno. The party’s over. It’s just the three of us right now. You can tell us what’s wrong.” Bruno looked up at her, feeling for all the world like a storm cloud should be forming over him for once. After a moment, he hung his head with a heavy sigh, a soft murmur escaping him. “What was that?” asked Julieta. “I said, I don’t have anything to give you. Either of you,” Bruno said, giving her a sidelong glance through the hair that hid half his face.  The two women exchanged a look over their brother and, as if communicating telepathically, moved as one to embrace him. “Idiota,” Pepa muttered. “Do you think we care about that?”
“We’re just glad you’re home,” added Julieta. “That’s all the gift we need.”
“But -” “But nothing,” said Pepa. “We had ten birthdays without you. Ten birthday wishes that never came true. But now you’re here and that’s all that matters. Now shut up and let us love you.” For the first time that evening, Bruno very nearly chuckled. He would have hugged them both back if his arms weren’t currently pinned to his sides by them. “Well, you know, I never really left. I was here the whole entire time. And birthdays weren’t really all that different. I just went from being a wallflower to literally living inside the - Pepa, you’re raining.” Pepa promptly released him, wiping a tear from her cheek with one hand while shooing her cloud away with the other. Julieta took a step back as well, now holding her brother’s hand. “You were here, but you weren’t home, and that made all the difference in the world,” she whispered. “And you’re all we ever wanted.” “But you still owe me a wedding present!” Pepa told him, hands on her hips. This time, Bruno laughed.
— DOLORES is someone who is hard to prank, considering that she hears everything, and constantly alert just in case someone needs help.
Any suprise made for her, are all failure. The super-hearing lied about having no clue, but admit it to you after the party since she doesn't want anyone's efforts go to waste.
You made a deal with Camilo, which is written on paper so Dolores can't hear it. You need to trick your beloved, any trick that will make her off guard and you need to do it by the end of the week, or you'll have to give him all the food he wants for a month. If you win, he'll make sure to help you buy the earmuffs, for girlfriend's incoming birthday.
It's challenging since she can hear your steps, breathing, as well as heartbeat. You need to be calm and collected to be able to do it.
Taking your tiple with you—you rush to the la casa Madrigal. You took off your slippers and put on another pair of soft ones, so your steps are quiet enough to make Dolores comfortable. You use your finger to tap against her door instead of knocking with knuckles is a habit you made yourself for your significant other.
You might not know it, but the super-hearing appreciate all the small things you made for her. "Hermosa, Good to see you!" You greeted once you opened the door, revealing the girl of your dreams sitting by her cello, turning away from the intrument, her lips formed into a smile.
"About time you show up," you giggled at her words, peeking at her lips, before taking sit at a nearby stool.
"I discovered this melody last night, do you wanna hear it? Only if you want to of course!" The softness of you voice is enough to make Dolores melt on the spot.
"Sure, I'd love to! Your music is always amazing." It's not a suprise that Dolores loves music, she always has ever since she's a child. She loves hearing all kinds of it, that was until she received her gift. Everything change from then on, before she met you.
"You already heard it last night, didn't you?" Playfully rolling your eyes when she let out a squeak, knowing that she already got caught. "It's fine, did it let you sleep though?"
"It did, thank goodness for that! Last night is very loud, especially those married couples..." lightly giggling at her statement, you move your fingers to the strings and stroke. Grimacing at the off tone.
"My sister might have played with this earlier," you adjust the strings, as Dolores waited patiently, scooching near while watching you with her big adorable eyes, and a warm smile at her face.
As you work, your mind caught something you thought could work as prank. While thinking of how the plan will work, you're focusing of relaxing your breathing and heartbeat, you know she'll find out you're messing with her once you did that trick.
"And done!" You exclaimed, stroking it once again satisfied by musical sounds it produces. "I'm doing to get some water downstairs, do you need anything, amor?" You stood up, grabbing the emtpy glass cups by the shelves, that you assume she forgot to bring down.
"A water will be fine as well," she respond, turning around to play with her cello once again, "careful walking with those glass, love you."
"I will!" You mentally give yourself a pat on the back when you heard her squeak once again. Focusing at your heartbeat and breathing, you successfully grab two glass of water, sipping a bit of it, before going back to a Dolores suspiciously giving you a side glace. "Here you go, mi vida. Now where were we?"
Throughout the time, you can feel the brunette's eyes on you. You ignored her stares— you know that she's waiting. Your heart pump faster as her stare is turning into a glare. You can feel yourself sweating, but need to keep calm. This is your only chance to buy those earmuffs, and you're not gonna let it slide.
Time past like blink of an eye, as you say goodbye at your significant other. "Today was great, mi vida. See you tomorrow, alright?" You say your farewell, locking your lips with her plump ones, smiling in contentment. Her arms snake over your shoulders, and pull you in for more, you didn't expect her to pull you deeper into it, but didn't complain.
You're the one to pull away from it because of the lack of oxygen your lungs are begging to have. No words exchanged as you and the brunette stared into one another, breathing heavily.
Dolores was the first one to break the silence, "see you tomorrow, te amo [name]," her slender fingers run to your hair, you beam at her sweet affection. You almost said it back if it aren't for your eagle-like eyes, spotting two of her siblings by the balcony.
Camilo's hand covering Antonio's eyes, the little one complaining about what's happening, while the teen made a silent gagging expression at the two of you.
Oh right, the prank. "Don't acknowledge them, it's his fault for spying," the super-hearing dismissed her brothers, taking note to herself to hit him later, for ruining your romantic moment.
Chuckling at her words, you continued with your plan, "I know, I gotta go now, bye lori." Peeking at her cheek, you turned around to go home, and tell the shape-shifter about you successful pla- "oooww, ow, ow, ow!" You exclaimed as the girl of your dreams pinch your ear, pulling you to face her.
"You're forgetting something." She reminded, softly patting you cheeks. Her brows knitted together, she knows and Camilo blew it for you. You're not gonna give up though.
"Oh, of course!" You replied, peaking her at the lips, before turning back and trying to run off, but you're not fast enough.
The super-hearing caught you by the back of your collar. Pulling you back, "you're not leaving until you say it, and we both know I know about your little tricks. So, stop with the playing, [nickname]."
Defeated, you whine bit. You were close, if only Camilo didn't show up, she won't know. "I'm sorry, I have to do it! Love you, 'Lores."
"Love you too, but I have to say, you're good."
"Learned from the master!"
— It was a scary experience to you that last time you prank CARLOS. He almost killed Camilo thinking it was him, you never dared to do it again. Though, today is different, you'll do it again but a prank that is something that will made him think what he did wrong, well in fact he did.
Carlos forgot your birthday, for the rest of the day you've been thinking he's planning a surprise for you. But no, the whole day he's acting as if it's any other one, doing his usual things that he do daily.
You two have been together for few months, you know when his birthday is, so how come he doesn't know yours? You two talked about it that's why you know when his was, did he forgot yours? Or didn't check the date? Maybe.
You were reading a book by your desk near the window when a shadow sudden block the light from the sun. Carlos sat near you more on the window in front of you, reading along the words from the literature, you didn't acknowledge his presence and continue with you activity.
The boy in maroon frown, usually you've notice him and give him your sweet cheek kisses before talking about your day.
"Hey," Carlos called out, popping to the chair beside you not after turning it around so the back rest is in front of him.
"Hi Carlito," you greeted, not giving him any attention as you flip another page. The troublemaker waited for another word from you, but is met with silence.
"Why Aren't you talking? Speak to me." He requested, more like demanded. He's not used to this routine, he's not used to your silence, he's not used to you ignoring him.
No one ignores him.
"Hmm?" That was the last straw for him. taking the book from you, he successfully gain your attention that he's unconsciously craving. "Give it back,"
With an eye roll, he stated. "Oh, now I've got you to notice me. I feel loved." Said Carlos, sarcasm lingering in his voice. The book just above his head.
"Quit playing around, just give it back." As much as you want to mess with your lover, he needs to know you're mad at him. The problem about that is; he never takes things seriously.
The troublemaker's heart dropped when you turned around and fix your desk, ignoring him, he'll never admit that it hurts him. He's too spoiled with your affection that he doesn't know what to do when you ignore him.
The troublemaker is taken aback, but didn't show it. Hiding it behind in a raised brow, making it look like he's questioning your odd behavior; a part of him does though.
He knew he made a mistake, but kept denying it. What did he even do anyway?
Ignoring your words, he continued, "What's so special about this anyway? You've already read this a thousand times."
"But I just got to my favorite part!"
"You'll get it back when you get it back." You don't know how much he wants to peak on your pouty lips. Placing the book on the highest place he could find in your room, before leaning into nothing so he could fall onto your bed. You just stared at him as he made himself comfortable, you really don't know how this would end. "Why are still standing there? C'mere."
But his heart went back to besting animatedly when you came to his side once you put everything neatly on your desk. Though it irked him when you cuddle by his side with a gap between you two and your back is facing him. "What shit are you pulling?"
"What do you mean?" You know he doesn't like swearing in front of you, but when it comes, you know he's very much pissed off.
"[Name], there's a fucking gap between us, and you're telling me you don't know what I mean?" He cussed, pulling you deeply into him your back hitting his chest. The troublemaker buried his face in your neck, hot breath came in contact with your skin. "If I did something, say it. I'm no fortune-teller."
Neither of you said anything afterwards, he let you draw small shapes on his hands as well as arms. He gave you time to process your words before saying it to him, which is mostly unlike him. Carlos gave you small pecks as a sign of affection with a bit of rue. He wants to know what he did, he not good at being aware if his tease can be turned into insults.
"My birthday." You mumbled, snuggling deeper in his arms.
"Your what?"
"My birthday, you forgot my birthday..."
"Oh." He paused, realisation hit him like a brick. his mind bring him back to that same day, you weren't your usual self. you're enthusiastic about something that day, but as the day pass by he notice you became gloomy by every second. though, he only thought you were tired. "Sorry- what... how can i make it up to you?"
Thinking of what you want was something harder than you expected, "I don't really know. You can think of something."
The boy hummed in thought, his arms feel goosebumps as your fingers trail across it, writing the words love you repeatedly but of course he doesn't need to know that. and idea struck you. "I out of ideas, but—" he sighed, though it sounded with guilt as well as embarrassment, "I'm sorry, i can come up with something tomorrow. i won't forget it this time."
there are rare times where carlos would apologise, he delivered his sorry in a lazy tone, yet he means it all.
"it's alright, it was childish of me to do that." you smiled at him, carlos stared at you, analysing your features before he spoke again, loosing his trace.
"yea, you were an idiot." he yelp as you pinch his arm that you were just caressing a second ago.
your laugh has a nice ring in his ears, he erupt a low chuckle with you. he buries his face into your neck, your fragrance gives him comfort that he can't describe with words. "i love you, i'm sorry."
"i know, it's okay." and there it begins. mischievous creept up to your face, but he shows no signs of confusion.
carlos then again sound his thoughts, thinking you only respond to his sorry. "i love you, [name]." his voice is soft, and full of sincerity. making you melt of the spot. moments like this are something to cherish with him forever.
but sometimes he will get the taste of his own medicine. "i know." you replied, you felt giddy yet you pretend to doze off to slumber as you feel his arms tight around you.
"te amo, mi vida." his voice is firm yet gentle, as if demanding and begging for you to say it back. you can feel his breath by your neck
"mhm." is what he received. you wanna play like that?
chop.
"ack-!" you yelp, as he bit you by your shoulder. "why did you do that for?" looking back at him, trying to escape his grasp.
carlos kissed where he had bit you, before demanding "say it back."
"say what back?"
"i love you, say it back. right now. do it."
"carlito, i just want sleep."
"no you're not sleeping until— hey!" he exclaim, you hid under your blanket cutting him off. a huge smile is plastered on your face.
that gleam however, is wipped off when you feel a heavy body on top of you. crushing you. "you're heavyyy, off!"
"say i love you too, then I'll get off."
"no!"
"why not? i know you love me, say it back."
you emerged from you blanket, looking at him with a frown. "carlitooo" you whined as you try to push him off.
"amoooor" he mocked, inching his face closer to you. peaking at your lips, a smirk breaking into his face as he pulled away. "i love you."
pursed your lips together, your try not to break into how he kept his gaze at you. with a heavy sigh as well as an eye roll. you finally said it back, "i love you too."
"there you go," kissing you again, before he get off of you, bringing you body to his embrace. cuddling into your sheetings. "it wasn't so hard, was it?"
"it was challenging." he breathes a laugh at your reply.
"I'll take you on a date tomorrow, rest for now. idiot."
Giant siren au, where Antonio isn't part of the family he's a human orphan Pepa found on the beach after the family sunk a ruthless pirate ship that kidnapped him. Pepa was the first and only one to find him before comforting him and assuring him she would never hurt him and that when will keep him safe.
Mirabel was the second siren Antonio met. When mirabel went to check on her tia, she noticed a small little human boy in pepas hands. Mirabel spoke gently to the adorable little boy and introduced herself, Antonio did the same. Then he was introduced to the others who quickly accepted him. Julieta just wanted to cuddle the little thing, Augustine and Felix smiled at the little boy and the young adults/teens just washed him with affection, especially Dolores. Camilo did like the little guy but sometimes trys to make it like he's gonna eat Antonio. ( He would never) Antonio feared him for a while but eventually got used to him.
When Alma heard about it, she was abit concerned. But when she met Antonio, all worries left her mind as all she felt now for Antonio is care and love. Never in her life did she think she would love a human like it was her own baby. ( He is now)
The family grew to love little Antonio, Mirabel always hung out with him and played and gave him older sisterly affection when ever he wanted or when ever she wanted. At first Antonio was still afraid of her but now he sees her as his sister. He would cling on to her face and hug her, swing on her hair and hug her giant fingers. She would pin the boy down and tickle him. She loved Antonio, she didn't want anything bad to happen to him. The family new that humans are very vulnerable. So they will keep Antonio safe. He was their new baby.
Pepa always looked after Antonio like he was her own child. As her love for him grew so did Antonio's love for the family. At one point Antonio was being smothered (gently) in kisses by Pepa as he was laughing hard. As he was trying to escape her fury he accidentally says " Mama stop" as he giggled she stopped and he realized what he said, he felt embarrassed he tried to apologized only to be pressed against her soft cheek as she hugged him and said " My baby" Antonio's eyes were filled with joyfull tears as he hugged her back. Pepa herself was crying softly. Happy that Antonio was now hers. The family grew fond of Antonio that they were sad for him to go. But he didn't have a family or a place to go... until now.
Antonio was now apart of the family and he was happy. So we're the family. Other sirens got to meet the little boy and all loved him. He was proof that not all humans are bad.
One day Antonio was tired from playing Pepa was wide awake. She place him on her chest as he leaned on her and fell asleep the giant siren placed a hand over him for warmth. Antonio says " love you mama" Pepas smiles as her heart melts with love and responds " I love you, Antonio madrigal"
THIS IS SUCH A COOL. AU??? OF AN AU WHATTT <333
This could actually work. I think I mentiomed it before, but giant sirens really like human children, and will care for them, especially if they're found in wreakages or alone. (this also leads to a giant rift in the already rocky relationship between sirens and humans because...sirens have a habit of taking kids off the docks and beaches.)
The family would totally love him <333 Especially Pepa and Felíx. Antonio actually gets really attached to the family too, really fast. They’re the first time he’s felt like he’s belonged somewhere. And the Madrigals love him dearly. It wasn’t a surprise to the others when they found Pepa doting on him and. Well, crying. Meanwhile Antonio was asleep.
Tumblr media
Antonio probably can swim underwater for a long time, not only can he hold his breath but he can see pockets of air and uses those to breath lmao
Webby as Mirabel
Mirabel has no gift, and Webby is not tied to the McDuck family in blood, so she has no gift either. In fact, nobody even allowed such a thought, so they even didn’t try. I’d like to end the story with Webby’s becoming the new the Number One Dime the Miracle Candle’s keeper.
As far as their family ties are concerned, everything here remains like the cartoon, and does not change under the state of affairs in Encanto. Beakley is still Webby’s grandmother. Scrooge has just become the father of Della and Donald. Donald and Daisy are the parents of May and June. Dell is the mother of triplets.
It’s not that the relationship between Webby and Scrooge is that important. I love this storyline twist in dt17 and it can be in this au too, but I can’t say that it is absolutely necessary, it seems to be superfluous
The main character will be Webby. On the day of receiving gifts, May and June, born on the same day, were afraid to go alone and refused to do it without Webby.
Ugh, going all the way up to two doors knowing that she would never be a part of the family and get any gift... it must hurt
It was Webby who noticed how the house began to collapse, because there was discord in the family. With their quarrels, the gifts weaken. So she intended to help everyone.
Their main conflict was Della, or rather her disappearance. So the Webby began to reveal this secret.
She found a prophecy by which Della flew away and suffered a plane crash. Unlike Bruno, whose poor predictions were not believed, Della herself did not believe her predictions. She believed she had the right to change her fate with her gift.
I don’t really want to take a flight into space because a rocket crash is too much
Why did Scrooge cover it up and get angry at every mention of his daughter? Because he kept Della’s faith in the ability to change her destiny. But after the crash, he changed his mind. For this reason, he ignored Webby’s words about the destruction of the house because he had seen the prophecy about it, and he was convinced that fate cannot be changed.
Scrooge broke it. But Webby collected it and saw herself in the end against the background of the destruction of the house.
Webby loved her family so much, so she decided to go out on emotion to prevent it. But during the escape, Della caught her. She was quite alive, ha
Della had indeed crashed the plane, but she had survived with the loss of her leg. She lived inside the walls of the house, unwilling to return.
She gave an answer to Webby’s questions. It was not only Scrooge who looked at the prediction incomplete. Della dropped the memory first, splintered from it a small piece that did not allow one to look beyond the image of Webby. There was Della too. And just like Webby, she loves her family too, but she thought it’s better without her
Kinda similar, right?
It’s only then Webby realized how stupid and wrong they both are when they run away
They rerun Della’s gift and watch the entire memory to learn how to prevent it.
Della looked at the girl condescendingly, seeing herself in her, but allowed her to. Because if the outcome is predetermined, her efforts will not make it worse.
Webby really saw how she helped her family, in particular, the triplets who first quarrelled when they began to slowly discover the secret of Della.
At this time, Gosalyn as Mariano came to court with Dewey.
I don’t mind them as a couple, but I just want them to feel like friends in that au
Later, Webby extorted the confession that Dewey did not want to marry, he did not know if he loves Gosalyn in that way
So… Webby was trying to make up with everyone and she’s even doing it well until Scrooge told her that he didn’t see the good in her actions
How do those words of Abuela resemble those of Scrooge "you are not part of the family!"
And the house collapsed…
Webby escaped. Scrooge talked to her heart-in-heart. They found an understanding. Della jumped on the donkey, said it’s her fault, she had predicted it. Tearful reunion of father and daughter. Repair of the house. Webby is a new keeper.
The end :з
SORRY IS IT TOO MUCH, HUH?
Am I Too Late For a Miracle?
“What is going on!?”
At the sound of Abuela’s approaching voice, Mirabel and Isabela stop talking, quickly standing up.
“Abuela, it’s okay,” Mirabel tries gently. “Everything is okay—”
“What are you talking about? Look at our home! Look at your sister!” She gestures sympathetically to Isabela and the surrounding mess. “It wasn’t enough that you ruined her proposal, now you have to do this too—”
“Please, listen, I-I didn’t. Isabela wasn’t happy…”
Mirabel turned to her side, where Isabela no longer was. Her sister had wandered off behind Abuela, towards where their parents and Luisa had appeared.
At the other side of the room, Tía Pepa, Tío Félix, Dolores and Camilo have also walked in on the scene.
All of them staring her down.
“I don’t want to hear another word from you.” Her gaze hardened.
“Abuela, you don’t understand, the vision—”
“You have to stop, Mirabel! The cracks started with you; Bruno left because of you; Luisa’s losing her powers, Isabela’s out of control because of you! I don’t know why you weren’t given a gift, but it is not an excuse to hurt this family!”
Cracks emerged around the pair, though neither seemed to pick up on it in the moment.
Mirabel’s heart broke.
She opens her mouth but is silenced immediately by a hand in front of her.
“I’m sorry,” she whimpers. “I didn’t want to hurt us—”
“Enough!” Abuela thunders. “You don’t get to cry about what you’ve done. There isn’t a punishment worthy. How dare you speak to me about our miracle! How dare you hurt this family! How dare you break our home! How dare you try to harm our miracle! Let me tell you, young lady, I regret the day you were born. You have brought nothing but misfortune at every opportunity! I never would have kept you here if I’d known what a burden you were going to be! You are a disappointment. You have always been such a disappointment. A pathetic excuse for a Madrigal, a granddaughter, daughter, sister and whatever else is in your never ending list of failures. You don’t deserve to be in this family.”
The floor between them cracks, separating them. Abuela silently gasps in surprise and confusion, eyes glued to the damage; Mirabel flinches back, one hand at her heart and the other covering her mouth to prevent any fearful screams getting out.
“No, no, no!” Pepa suddenly cries.
Félix follows her gaze. “The candle!”
As if on cue, the cracks spread. One in particular splitting the house in half and knocking the candle off its perch, the candle flickers and the building shakes subsequently.
Dolores grabs onto the wall to steady herself and Camilo, firmly held by the ruana in her other hand. Isabela lurches forward to keep Abuela in her feet. Pepa almost falls into Félix. Luisa, barely fazed, secures Julieta and Agustín with either hand.
Mirabel, who had been knocked to the floor, shakes her head and recovers herself, setting her eyes on the candle.
“Casita, help me up there!”
The house tears off a line of railing, flipping it into a makeshift ladder for her.
Meanwhile, Camilo had taken the back staircase and was sprinting along the corridor towards Abuela’s door. Using his shapeshifting abilities to parkour through any suppose obstacles.
Isabela creates herself a vine to swing from and pull herself to the candle. Just as she gets close to the ledge, her door fades. The vine quickly dissipates into nothing.
She screams. Casita uses its beams to catch her, gently dropping her to the floor.
Camilo’s door flickers out next. He was mid-jump as the notably tall Josè and just as his hand goes for the edge of the roof, he shifts back to himself and misses. Casita’s other line of railing bends outwards for him to grasp on, breaking his falls as he lands beside Isabela.
He stares in horror at his own hands, his older cousin looks similar as the plants around them shrivel quickly and die.
Nearby, Antonio is stood frozen, watching as his own door goes out. It is immediately thrown off its hinges as the animals come bursting out, running and flying away into the wilderness.
“Careful! Antonio!” Félix remarks, quickly scooping the boy up. As his door comes crashing down to where he was just standing. With the boy in his arms, Félix makes for the exit. “We have to get out of here!” He throws over his shoulder to Julieta, Agustín and Pepa, who are doing everything but that.
“Mirabel?!” Julieta shouts.
Just as she tries to go after her daughter, Casita ripples it’s tiles in powerful waves forcing them out.
“Mirabel!” She cries again, almost tripping to step over Casita.
“Mirabel! You have to get out!” Agustín yells.
“Mirabel—”
The family is thrown out front door at that point. Luisa manages to break Abuela’s fall, Félix does the same for Antonio.
Bruno races on the inside of the walls that are crumbling and piling with dust, quickly shoving every rat inside his ruana. He retrieves Hernando’s bucket, slams it onto his head and crashes head first through the walls.
He tumbles out into the grass below, lifting the bucket as he eyes everything in disbelief. It’s been so long since he’s seen the outside; who would have thought it would be like this?
“Mirabel?!” Julieta cries in alarm, reaching out over Abuela’s shoulder. Casita hasn’t thrown her out. She’s still there. Struggling on her short legs to reach the candle. “Mirabel! Leave it!”
“Mirabel! The house is going to fall!” Félix hollers up.
Pepa twists anxiously at her braid. “Mirabel! Get out!”
“Mirabel!” Agustín shouts.
Casita shifts its tiles and Mirabel finally grasps the candle, panting in relief. Just as she dusts it over, the walls come crushing down around her.
The roof jolts downwards without warning, sending Mirabel hastily over its edge. She cries out. The stairs rise, sliding her onto the ground.
She sits up, eyes going wide as the building caves in. She closes her eyes, adjusts herself to lean over the candle, cradling it like something fragile in her lap. Various pieces of furniture stack themselves protectively around her, trying to shield her from the incoming attack.
“Thank you, Casita.”
~~~~~~
Dolores wailed in agony outside.
Her gift, unfortunately, seemed to be one of the last to fade.
She gripped her own ears tightly, nails digging into the skin, almost determined to rip them off. Over the top of her own hands were Isabela’s and Luisa’s, both her cousins looking at her with such concern.
Abuela was still stood frozen, Julieta and Agustín hovering beside her. Her father was off to the side comforting Antonio with help from Camilo. Her mother was partially sidetracked by something, no someone, in the distance. Townspeople were starting to gather further behind them all.
“Mirabel?!” Julieta cries in alarm, reaching out over Abuela’s shoulder. “Mirabel! Leave it!”
“Mirabel! The house is going to fall!” Félix hollers up.
Pepa twists anxiously at her braid. “Mirabel! Get out!”
“Mirabel!” Agustín shouts.
And Dolores just had to hear it.
Each item, each beam, each tile hit the floor and shatter, one after the other. Mirabel’s cries of absolute terror. It’s clearly her voice, but it sounds nothing like her. All haunting and broken. Dolores thinks she hears Mirabel calm, both realising Casita has sheltered her, and they whisper, “Thank you, Casita.”
And then there’s the deafening cracks as Bruno’s tower comes loose.
It falls.
And falls.
And takes Mirabel’s head down with it.
Dolores heard her splutter on her own blood and air. Her body coming to a silent and abrupt halt. Wherever it lands, Mirabel’s head is still alive. Her glasses smash on impact and cut into her cheeks. She hears the eyelids flutter open and the lips move, trying to scream, no doubt at the sight of her own headless corpse. But she doesn’t have her vocal cords to do that. The eyes blink again, straining to look away. Then nothing.
Casita breaks.
There’s a ringing in Dolores’ ears, in everyone’s ears, when Casita is completely gone and everything is still.
Two doors that had been sheltering Mirabel’s body fall apart, one squeaks open and shut one final time, as if saying you’re welcome. As if the house didn’t just let Mirabel die.
She covers her mouth and drops to the grass. Isabela being the only thing keeping her upright - Luisa had already walked off to her father.
“Shush, it’s okay, I’ve got you. Lola, I’ve got you,” Isabela whispers, holding her against her.
It’s been ages since she and Isa have been this close.
In spite of herself, Dolores can’t help but take the opportunity and tightens herself around Isabela.
Julieta pushes Abuela aside, running into the building. “Mirabel!” She calls, searching the debris.
“Everyone okay?” Agustín asks around. “Is everyone okay?”
“How could this happen?” Luisa questions nobody in particular.
Félix shakes his head in disbelief. “The Encanto is broken…”
“What do we do now?”
“My powers… they’re gone.” Camilo sulks. “And what about Antonio? What’s he going to do?”
Isabela taps her shoulder. “Dolores? Are you okay? Can you hear me? You aren’t listening to me.”
Dolores looks stunned.
She realises.
“My gift,” she mumbles. “Our gifts. They aren’t gone. I can still…”
She can’t bring herself to finish.
Isabela looks unconvinced, but doesn’t say anything. Though she does wave her hand half-heartedly, only for a cactus to suddenly pop out from the ground beside them.
“Mirabel!” Julieta cries in relief, finally spotting the familiar teal among everything. She races over, checking the girl bottom to top for injuries, as she always does; Dolores didn’t need her hearing for that, her Tía always does that. She tries to imagine what Julieta sees. The embroidery must be snagged and torn, the candle must still be glowing in her hands, she’ll be covered in dust and blood— and then Julieta screams.
Dolores figures she worked it out.
“Julieta, come quick!” Her mother calls in the distance, pointing at Bruno, who is not so-subtly hiding in the grass. “Julieta!”
The healer just collapses in front of the body, shrieking in anguish, reaching out but can’t bring herself to touch Mirabel’s severed neck or anywhere else.

Corpse Bride!AU
Eighteen-year-old Mirabel Madrigal is preparing for her wedding to Mariano Guzman - a marriage not so much of love as of convenience: the magic of the Madrigal family can fade at any moment, and a new generation of gifts is needed. While rehearsing her speech, (“with this candle I... will burn my abuela and our magical home”), she places a ring on a twisted branch and is transported to the afterlife, where she finds herself betrothed to a mysterious “dead groom.” She doesn’t know who he is and is desperately eager to enter the world of the living. At this time, a certain evil la bruja takes the form of Mirabel in order to enter the Madrigal family and take possession of their miracle. No one realizes about the substitution, with the exception of Antonio, who immediately understands that this is not Cousin Mirabel. The same thing is told to him by the animals who saw that Mirabel - the real Mirabel - was suddenly carried away to the kingdom of the dead.
In the Kingdom of the Dead, meanwhile, Mirabel learns the story of the “dead groom” - and realizes that this is her tío Bruno, who disappeared 13 years ago. That same witch already wanted to get the family miracle, she convinced Bruno to get married secretly and poisoned him immediately after the wedding - but Casita did not open the door for her and the witch had to retreat for a while. Mirabel and Bruno recognize each other. She sees what kind of person he was: romantic, with an open soul and a kind heart, and she is filled with empathy and compassion. She realizes that she is starting to fall in love with him. Bruno, noticing this, gives her the ring and helps her return to the world of the living - and they end up just at the engagement of the false Mirabel and Mariano. Bruno interrupts the ceremony by telling the truth - his sisters and Abuela are shocked. The false Mirabel sheds her disguise and tries to attack Abuela to take away the candle, but Bruno rushes to intercept her and defends his mother. The witch, laughing, declares that she will not retreat anyway, because the dead cannot harm the living - and then the rats, under the leadership of Antonio, add rat poison to the wine. The witch drinks it and falls dead. Bruno wishes happiness to Mirabel and Mariano, preparing to finally leave for the world of the dead, but Mirabel stops him by putting a ring on her finger and pronouncing a wedding vow - from the bottom of her heart and with sincere love (a small insert from Beetlejuice - marriage with the living returns the dead man to the world of the living) . Mariano marries Dolores, Abuela does not object to the marriage of Mirabel and Bruno - after all, she missed her son so much, and everyone celebrates two weddings concluded out of love, instead of one out of a sense of duty.
a small plotbunny that we came up with this evening))
