Rambling and rambling..
Edit: this post is old and so most of the stuff here has been dealt with. DNI transharmful/transid and pro para.
---
This is not really everything I wanted to talk about but I figured just putting my thoughts in order would be good. Opinions from people experiencing this or similar situations is very welcome !
I don't hear anyone's voice, and that's like the number one thing I keep reading about, "just ask them if they're there", nobody and nothing answers
But I feel intense dissociation (depersonalisation and derealization with some memory loss ?) and personality shifts where I feel like I'm completely different people or I feel like these thoughts aren't mine at all, but what confuses me is that it's still me ? Sort of ? I don't feel like it is but I'm there, I'm conscious of the events happening even though I mostly forget them after
It is incredibly overwhelming, I don't want to feel like this, if it is someone or something else, I don't want to be involved
These are usually moments where I experience intense emotion or where I feel like a different being that don't feel like me (a magical girl, an angel and a visual novel character), and that things are just very wrong for no reason
Overall I am just confused and upset because this gives me a headache when it happens and dissociation is just never fun
I've been reading on median systems and possibly monoconsciousness but I dont want to jump on those labels before exploring different possibilities, because it might not be plurality at all (another option I'm exploring is BPD, for the dissociation and lack of sense of self and the intense emotions)
Either way thanks for reading

Here’s some positivity for bordergenic systems!
A bordergenic (or BPD) system is a system who formed due to having borderline personality disorder. This post is for those systems!
Shoutout to bordergenic systems who use parts language!
Shoutout to bordergenic systems who have lots of emotional parts and very few apparently normal parts!
Shoutout to systems whose BPD has made it difficult for them to access the care they need!
Shoutout to systems who were misdiagnosed, undiagnosed, or who took a long time to receive their diagnosis due to the complexities of their disorder!
Shoutout to bordergenic systems who struggle to deal with their BPD symptoms every day!
Shoutout to bordergenic systems who are getting help and no longer struggle so much with their system or disorder!
Shoutout to bordergenic systems who feel unseen and unheard due to most system spaces being specifically for endogenic systems or for systems with DID/OSDD!
We’re a mixed origins system with a BPD diagnosis - we know how challenging it can be living with this disorder on top of being a system! Please don’t be too hard on yourself or your system for displaying symptoms of your disorder, struggling to find community and acceptance, regressing/backsliding, or dealing with any other aspect of having a system caused by BPD.
You and no one else in your system can change how your system formed, who you are and how you came to be this way. Please know that you are lovely, vital, and important part of the plural community just the way you are!! Bordergenic systems will always be an integral part of our plural community - we love you, we’re rooting for you, and we wish the very best for you! Keep your chin up and know that there’s a place for you here just the way you are. You don’t need to change yourself or try to fit in in order to be accepted. You already fit, and we’re so happy to have you in our community!

I need a system version of this post so
Shoutout to systems that have so many comorbidities they still feel like freak alien outcasts even in plural groups & safe-spaces where everyone else is real weird together and gets along really well.
Shoutout to systems that feel conflicted about loneliness bc it’s supposed to make us feel sad but instead it so often is practically the most comforting thing we’ve ever experienced
Hang in there or something :3

Bordergenic and BPD Systems
I recently saw a post claiming that BPD can't form systems, and thought I should comment on it.
First, let's try to define what a system is in the context of multiplicity. Generally, when we're talking about systems, we're talking about a group of internal agents with their own consistent sense of self that's distinct from other agents in the system.
Among other things, BPD is closely associated with voice hearing, with studies showing prevalence ranging from 50% to 90%.
As I've discussed before, dissociative identity disorder specialists Dolores Mosquera and Colin Ross have put forth the theory that many of the intelligent voices heard in psychotic disorders are parts of a person's system as well.
It should stand to reason then that if voices in BPD voices also demonstrate self-consciousness, then they too would fall under the system umbrella, just as other forms of hallucingenic systems with psychotic disorders would.
Of course, not every voice heard by voice hearers demonstrate self-consciousness. Not every person experiencing auditory-verbal hallucinations is a system. Some voices may just be intrusive thoughts with no consistency or sense of self.
Unfortunately, I can't find any studies into the agency of voices of AVH in BPD, nor any addressing their longevity or if these have consistent senses of self over a long period of time.
One thing is clear. As more research is being conducted, AVH are increasingly found to be more closely related to DID than to Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders. DID is also more closely linked to other forms of hallucinations, such as tactile and visual hallucinations. DID voice hearers also are more likely to hear multiple voices and the voices are more likely to start before the age of 18.
All of this supports a conception of AVH as not being psychotic symptoms but dissociative symptoms.
Some would say that treating these voices as separate and engaging them would increase dissociation and make symptoms worse, but I would look back to the article on treating hostile voices which says the opposite.
Tumblr media
If we apply this same standard to consistent, self-conscious voices in BPD, actually treating these voice like the hostile voices mentioned in that article and building communication would be beneficial to reducing dissociation between them, while ignoring the voices would be harmful.
There is a lot more information I would like on experiences of people with BPD with voices. A lot more questions I have about the experiences of AVH in BPD. (For example, do the voices correspond with different "states" the same way alter voices do, or are they a completely unconnected phenomenon?)
But my position is that anyone who experiences the voices of other people in their head with their own agency and consistent sense of self can be considered a plural system, whether these voices originate from Schizophrenia, BPD, or are not associated with any mental disorders at all.
I'm still learning, but if systems with BPD say that BPD caused their systemhood, I will 100% believe and support them. 😁

"Narc" Abuse = Emotional Abuse
It's funny seeing something so relatable to you on instagram regarding family trauma or relationship drama in general then you look at the tags to see it is tagged under "Narcissistic abuse" AND "Emotional abuse". FYI they are the same thing, one is an incorrect and ableist version while the other is the correct version.
Then you get to the comments and it is so MUCH worse, especially when someone is trying to educate these people who refuse to educate themselves and trauma dump to justify their ableist views and why they use narc abuse as a term to describe an abuser.
NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) stems from trauma that causes an emotional imbalance, which causes unwanted out-lashes towards those they love and are close to. This is why ACCOUNTABILITY is important for the person with NPD (or really any disorder that has horrible symptoms that one cannot control), it is also important for the other person to understand that the person with NPD cannot control their symptoms. You can be hurt because it is an emotion that will happen regardless, but you cannot use ableistic terms on them especially if they are trying to heal and trying to do better
Narc Abuse DOES NOT EXIST and if you believe it does your are an extremely horrible and disgusting person who needs more therapy than people with NPD do. Don't use terms that aren't for you to use and don't just water the term down because you gained the wrong information and choose to believe it instead of listening to those who struggle with the stigma every single day

Some of our experiences as a system with BPD, Autism, and ADHD
Often times, when we split in BPD terms, we also split new fragments or alters.
We have a lot of trouble differentiating between people we’re fixated on and our favorite people.
Our favorite people are the same for everyone in system.
We have alters who hold BPD symptoms, our host being the main BPD symptom holder, and those alters are much more dependent on our favorite people. They tend to be a bit dry with people who aren’t our favorite people, and while we try to make sure they don’t come across as rude, we struggle with conveying tone because we are autistic.
When we split new alters, if they’re fictives, their source is most likely to be from one of our hyperfixations or special interests. Because of this we are a bit wary about consuming new media.
We speak very impulsively, especially when splitting, and we often say things we don’t mean. However, this is not an excuse for any negative behavior.
Our littles and BPD symptom holders are the ones who struggle most with impulse control, which often leads to arguments in-system.
Our inability to focus properly worsens when we’re rapid switching and/or blurry.
We will most likely add more to this as times goes on :3c

our system almost definitely formed after childhood, around the same time my other mental health issues became more disabling, and probably exists in part due to and/or is heavily affected by our bpd and the trauma i faced as a young teenager. however the way we function is usually best described as non-disordered plurality, as that itself isn't a disorder for us. and most of our origins can't be described as traumagenic. i think we use neurogenic because for most of us, our reason for being in a system is simply because we're a system, if that even makes any sense.
we have headmates who split directly off of me because of stress, headmates who believe they come from another world, fictives who formed out of hyperfixation, fictives and brainmade members who formed out of roleplaying, kintypes who became autonomous, headmates who are like me but younger, headmates who formed because i wanted them to, and plenty of other types.
