There is a post that lives in my head rent free and that is the one about Steph being 6 feet tall and that she's about Jason's height

As seen in these panels here.

This lives in my head for a few reasons:

A, if Jason gets badly hurt, like he breaks his leg, but for some reason red hood is needed, steph could have a brief stint as red hood, adding to the portfolio of aliases she's already acquired.

2, I want Steph to have been taller than tim when they were dating, so that most of his romantic interests are taller than him(I'm not sure of the height difference between tim and Bernard, but screw it. make all of Tim's love interests taller than him)

3, Steph calling everyone around her shorty-pants or some variation, no matter what height they are. Solomon Grundy? Hey how you doing, short king?

4. Steph being Bruce's height. That's all the thoughts there.

5. Steph giving out head pats at all times. Whether it's to be cute or to be a menace is to be debated. Like it's cute when it's with Cassie, and definitely to be a menace when it's Damian, but what about dick or Harper?

Anyway, steph deserves to be at least 6 feet tall.

leaving a lil rant here :]

I love Tim and his ships sm. Me personally, I only really ship TimKon. Those two are perfect for eachother and have so much clear queer coding that it’s crazy, and they have dialogue that’s just. gay shaped.

I also get TimBart, I don’t ship it romantically but I get why people do!! Tim and Bart are close as well, and the balance they get between ‘depressed tired wet cat’ and ‘living breathing embodiment of adhd’ is great.

I also get TimBartKon, they’re a trio. They are always a trio, so many people like to bring up how TimKon has so much coding and one of the big examples they use is when Tim tried to clone Kon. You know who else he tried to clone? Bart.

The only Tim ship I don’t get is TimBern, or any ship involving those two. When Bernard first appears, he’s Tim’s bully. He actively makes fun of tim and puts him down and then that character is forgotten about until Tim comes out as bi, then they just rework his character and go “haha guys this is his boyfriend not bully ygs are crazy” and just forget about all the bad stuff Bernard did? Reworking a character is great and all but, it just feels a bit weird and out of place for me. There’s always going to be that certain toxicity for TimBern, at least for me.

okay, im gonna start off by saying you have all the right to not ship them, and im not here to defend timbern as a ship. im here to defend BERNARD DOWD.

first thing bernard does is give tim advice about teachers, and he clearly says they're gonna be good friends.

if bernard was a bully, tim wouldn't hang around him so much. besides, i hate it when people place tim as a helpless little boy who would get bullied. he has put himself in situations where he looks weak on purpose to keep his identity safe, but he's not a victim at all. tim is a social butterfly because he's really good at masking and reading people.

not to mention, both bernard and darla push tim a lot because they're trying to get him to open up and be closer to them, but he keeps pushing them away. tim is a professional liar.

and when tim has to quit robin and start hanging out with normal people, he invites bernard over.

and bernard is acting relatively normal, and he wants to play video games and talk about how hot tim's stepmom is.

bernard is a normal teenager who has no idea one of his friends is the hero he's so obsessed with. he even shows concern for robin dying and makes up an entire conspiracy theory about batman havin a robin orphanage. you can tell he's afraid of robin being gone for real because at this point they haven't seen robin in months bc tim retired.

i dont know what about all of these interactions gave you the vibe that he's a bully because all i see is a normal teenager teasing his friends and being jealous tim gets more bitches.

im not saying that bernard was never mean or weird around tim, but he definitely wasn't actively bullying tim.

bernard is obnoxious and cocky, yes. but thats just because they wrote him as a real person. he's the school's chameleon, maybe even a little bit of a loser, too. he knows everyone but keeps a safe distance so that he doesn't get pushed into a box. im not sure if, at this point, he was already in a cult or being indoctrinated, but when we see his parents and the dowd home in tim drake: robin that just doesn't look right.

also homie talk about "forgetting all the bad things bernard did" (which in my opinion is none but okay lets follow that logic) everyone forget about all the bad things batman did to tim, he was not a kind and loving mentor, he was cruel to both tim and steph. we forget that batman was kind of an asshole to damien in the beginning. all those things are forgotten for the sake of the batfam.

in conclusion: we're just so used to the idea that superheroes can only ever form strong friendship bonds by having near death experiences together that we forget that the secret identifies exist and that the people who know them by their legal name also means a lot to them. after all, these people are the reason why they're heroes.

Ok this is gonna be weird bc it's a less popular ship/rarepair but I haven't found much Tim/Bart angst specifically and I was wondering if you could do some?

Bart can canonically break the fourth wall. He knew when one of his comics was canceled and he's aware that he's part of a bigger story. And it wouldn't be a stretch to say that he knows, at least in a sense, that everyone sort of takes a backseat to the batfam. So he's aware that Tim is the main character of Young Justice's stories.

Bart was supposed to be the funny speedster friend. He never meant to develop feelings. But it's Tim. Smart, dedicated, messy-in-a-cute-way Tim who doesn't realize how magnetic he is.

While Tim's stealing kisses from Steph on patrol, Bart's sitting on top of a Central City skyscraper, wondering what it'd feel like to have Tim there instead. He pictures the wind billowing under Tim's cape and messing up his hair, and flexes his fingers on the concrete ledge while imaging what it'd be like to have Tim's hand in his own.

Both in and out of costume, he sees the tension between Tim and Kon. The teasing, the momentary touches, the heart-to-hearts. Sure, he and Tim have them too, but with Kon, Tim just seems... different.

One time, they're having a sleepover, just the two of them. They lose track of time playing video games, until Tim dozes off on Bart's shoulder. And Bart just freezes. He doesn't know what to do and he doesn't wanna wake Tim up, so he just stays like that. Hours crawl by and it takes everything in him to resist playing with Tim's hair. Eventually, Tim wakes up and Bart goes back to pretending it's all cool.

Then Tim comes out and starts dating Bernard, and Bart pulls back. He's glad for Tim, but he can't help but long for what could have been. While Tim and Bernard are having dinner on the rooftop, Bart is in his room with the curtains drawn, slow dancing by himself to a song Tim introduced him to years back.

Nobody knows. Not Kon or Cassie. Not the Flashes. In a life written for mass consumption, this is the one thing Bart has to himself. And he's accepted that Tim's never gonna see him as more than a friend. Happy endings are for main characters. Bart's just there to root for him.

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

hmmm. how do i put this. it's like... the way karl kesel treated him as a self-insert for his own teenage fantasy self or whatever sometimes. obviously this comes out in the way he gets preyed on by adult women and this is played off as cool and chill, but it also comes out in the way a) kesel writes his flirting. sometimes it's very endearing and cringefail, and other times he's kissing women without consent, and that's played off as chill and fine because kesel thinks it should be and the women in question almost always are fine with that, but also b) he writes off concerns about indigenous hawaiians in kon's narrative (like silver sword or ...man i'm forgetting that kid who gets jealous of him and has powers about it for a minute, but that narrative). and like. yeah. white man in the 90s wrote this for SURE. i don't think it's like, written in the absolute poorest taste imaginable, because there's a lot of ways where it seems almost like they were trying to be respectful of native hawaiian culture, but then there's shit that's so far off the mark it's like. dude. and it's very evident that it just reflects karl kesel's own views much more than any character in-narrative.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

lmaooo that's a toughie!!!! fanon kon at large is just. straight up not my boy. however there's a subset of fandom who leans into him being genderqueer/gnc/trans a lot more than canon ever has and i looove that. trans kon truthers lets go ♥

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?

LORD. tim/ber/kon is the one that makes me roll my eyes hardest, alongside the rarer but no less irksome ber/kon. it's like... this is 100% not about kon as a character. this is about tim. ber/kon is almost funny in that it's entirely about tim but with tim himself cut out of the picture. but tim/ber/kon is just "let's take tim's most popular two fanon love interests and just shove all of them together!" and i have yet to see Anything even remotely try to convince me why kon and bernard should give a shit about each other. like, MAYBE you could sell it as a loooong slow burn, but i just. i don't see it man. putting the rest under a cut bc i AM gonna ramble about why i dislike it, so if you like tim/ber/kon or tim/ber and don't wanna see that, keep scrolling here👍!!

this is also partly bc i just... man i really wanted to like bernard and tim/ber but there's nothing there. i knew i didn't like rebirth tim characterization going in when i read tdr but i was hoping i'd at least find some crumbs. it's all just ... like there's no substance to it. there's no conflict, no character flaws, no "why do they even like each other???", no particular way they seem to help each other grow. it's just tropey "told, not shown" fluff where megfitz insists they are SO in love and perfect for each other, over and over, without backing that up really at all, and it just holds absolutely no appeal to me. and when it's just tim/ber i'm like yeah ok sure it's not my thing but whatever. but when people start trying to shove kon into there i'm like NO!!!!!! sdjkfhkd like im just SO unconvinced and it feels like such a great steaming heap of Nothing.

the main reason that is is that to me a relationship needs to have an arc. it can't just be stagnant. if there's no conflict, if there's no room for growth, if there's no development, it falls apart in my eyes. it doesn't feel like a real story about actual people. and as far as the tim/ber dynamic established in tdr, there's just. nothing. even the fact that bernard apparently somehow knows that tim is robin, which should be a HUGE source of conflict, is completely glossed over. it never comes up in any way.

like, we know that tim wants to tell people, but holds back out of a sense of duty. in robin '93, he agonizes about this with steph. but when bruce tells her his identity without his consent - which steph tells him bruce did immediately - he flips the fuck out!!!! he panics and runs away and he's furious with them both!!! so you'd ostensibly think that bernard knowing, and then not telling him he knows, would be sowing the seeds for an explosive conflict later down the line. especially because bernard now knows that tim is just. lying to him. all the time. shamelessly and blatantly lying through his teeth. and sure, it's for a good cause. right? but you'd think that in a relationship that's only just been established, just for a few months, that would also be offputting!! you'd think he'd start getting more and more unhappy that tim is just constantly lying to him and he knows it!! because he knows it about the robin secret, but what else might tim be lying to him about??? he knows now that tim has no qualms just lying to his face all the goddamn time, and he's... FINE with that???? there's this giant secret they're both dancing around and it's set up that there's just. N O T H I N G done with that. it drives me up the wall. i found this absolutely infuriating to read. both of them just being so one-dimensionally "oh we're in looooove so nothing else matters" that it erodes not only tim's specific characterization but bernard's ability to react like . idk. a human being? it just feels like running into dead end after dead end.

so yeah adding kon into that mix makes me want to tear my hair out bc it just feels SO surface-level. it's like... how much of him are you gonna shave off to fit him into this soulless, conflictless mold? it's like how i get annoyed when tim/kon fics ignore kon being genuinely really upset tim didn't share his identity with the team in yj98, but worse. because identity shit REALLY matters to kon. kon has never dated anyone who didn't know he was superboy. all of his civilian friends in sb11 know he's superboy. like, he does Not get close to people if he can't share that. it would be!!! a source!!! of conflict!!! but i've never seen Any ship content for tim/ber/kon that isn't just either completely declawed fluff that's just oh hehe tim has two boyfriends, or "kon angsting over tim dating someone else uwu" bullshit, which occasionally leads into completely declawed "tim has two boyfriends" fluff. it just does such a disservice to every character involved imo.

So I had a thought...

What if Tim Drake got kidnapped one day for ransom, but for whatever reason the ransom never got paid (parents were out of the country and never received the call, or failed the dropoff, etc.) and the kidnappers decide to just... keep him.

Now, what if the kidnappers were Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, Harley looking for a big payday and Ivy getting dragged into it because Harley didn't tell her the whole plan before just showing up with a whole ass kid.

They fall in love with little Tim and decide that if his parents don't want him, they do, and Tim gets two loving, doting parents out of it. And, of course, as he grows he starts taking after his moms and leans a bit more towards the eco-terrorist side of the family, which in turn means that the batkids get to have their own kind-of villian that's about their age that they all grow up fighting.

Like, just imagine:

Bruce has to decide how to handle a smart as hell kid coming up as a new Gotham criminal.

Nightwing's 'this child needs a big brother' instincts clashing with his 'fight the bad guy' instincts.

As Tim never took over Robin after Jason died, the two have a whole different relationship.

Ivy and Harley figuring out how to raise a small child, and later a teenager while maintaining their night lives.

Tim and Steph dating and his moms having a hard time being normal about their baby growing up and falling in love.

Ivy talking with him about being safe and moving at his own pace and how to talk to boys while Harley is freaking out in the background planning his coming out party when he tells them he's bi.

Them giving the shovel talk to either Kon or Bernard would be GOLD bc one is a hero and the other is basically a star-eyed puppy.

Tim being raised as an only child means that he gets ALL the attention.

Harley and Ivy raising absolute hell should any of the bats go after their son.

Tim would definitely try to recreate Ivy's lab accident and end up with plant powers leading him even more towards eco-terrorist.

Just imagine, Tim with Ivy's green skin.

Just... the three of them would be such a great family and I can't stop thinking about it.

Okaaay....this is just my headcanon but but but here's a thread on each Batfam member's sexual orientation (some of them might be unpopular opinion but it's my opinion so...)

- Bruce Wayne is bi, he might have been bi-curious at one point if he is not 🥹 playboy, charming, flirtatious and rich, he's everyone's dream. And I don't think the Bat himself is in denial of his sexuality, in fact, though lowkey, he might just be casually talking about his flings to Alfred if he didn't consider feelings a scary thing.

- Please forgive me for saying this but Dick Grayson feels like a straight guy who's very comfortable with his sexuality that he doesn't mind the gay jokes and he himself would make non-homophobic queer jokes towards his friends (regardless of their sexuality).

- Jason Todd is either bi or straight, because of that Judd Winick interview and because he's giving major bi friend vibes (trust me I'm bi), who leans towards dating girls but he might have been too jaded or fearful of commitment to be in a relationship so he's still single til this day. But he might also be similar to Dick, he might be a straight guy who is constantly attracting queer friends and is ok with that. Maybe he just has a smart mouth and wants to tease or provoke other guys to the point that it seemed queer as a hetero man, like how guys irl do? I dunno, but he could either be bi or straight, he gives off both vibes to me honestly lol. I can’t decide on this one.

- Tim Drake, similar to canon storylines, bisexual, need I say more? Though I'd like to see them build Tim and Bernard more cuz Bernard is a bit too similar to Steph now, and Tim and Kon also have a very interesting dynamic so I am very conflicted. I like the fact that even though they've broken up, him and Steph are still friends. I really appreciate healthy relationships like that (i...if of course you look past the fact that he might have wanted to unalive her dad).

- Stephanie Brown feels like she could be pansexual, she's chill and she doesn't mind being in a relationship with someone of the same gender, of the opposite gender or genderfluids or trans. But to get the most accurate impression of her, I will spend my time reading Batgirls. For now, her vibes scream pansexuality to me.

- Damian Wayne is straight, but he is just not into relationships. Though I also like his dynamic with Jon, I can't see them as more than friends (but you're welcome to ship them, it's actually a cute ship but bc they're literally children so I just can't see anything more than platonic). I know the Asexual Damian trope is also very popular but to me, he seems like a straight guy who, like Jason, is not into relationships due to the nature of his worklife.

- Barbara Gordon feels like she could be straight or bi, that's up to intereptation, but for the most part to me, she seems to be straight, I mean she loves a guy named Dick so...and her interactions with BoP members seem very platonic to me. But other headcanons are also cool, please enlighten me.

- Duke Thomas is straight, he's like that one YA romance novel live action main character, an awkward teenager except he's a metahuman and also a vigilante. Yes, he's sassy and funny and nice, I know, but his vibe doesn't scream queer to me.

- Cassandra Cain is bisexual because of her interactions with Tim and Steph in the comics. She's the quiet bisexual friend/lover that everyone is comfortable with. And I love, love that about her. Yes, Cass seems to be the downright not heterosexual, hell, she might have been more into girls than guys.

- Kate Kane is 100% a lesbian, this is not a headcanon. She's so gay that nothing about her is straight, not even her name.

- Ok, weird one but I think Alfred Pennyworth might also be bisexual, he could have banged the queen as an agent in his younger years then started dating the prince a year later. Or he could be demisexual, who knows, maybe he loved someone when he was younger, then something happened and he can't find himself being in another relationship with anyone else, and also younger Bruce only had him so he didn't have time for dating.

Sorry, idk much about Harper so I can't say fo sho.

Edit: my take on Cassandra Cain before anyone comes at me with their extremist anti batcest bs again (and unless you're here for Bruce and Damian as a couple, I don't even think batcest is a word that should exist) and here. Don't go looking for dramas, be polite to other people please. Just because you don't ship it doesn't mean you should act like an asshole about it. Their interaction happened in canon and I simply stated the fact with pictures from the actual comics, I don't ship them as a couple because well, I just....don't? But it's not like I'd care or I'd be grossed out if anyone ships them because well, a ship doesn't harm anyone nor does it affect my life, but going for harassment and being aggressive about what other people like, that has nothing to do with you or your life... you're the weird one and maybe you should touch grass or get some real life friends to talk to because that's just sad.

i'm too lazy and perfectionist to write fics, but know that in my head lives a fic where in a fit of desperation, trying to maintain some sort of status quo and unquestioned past, kon and cassie start dating again

this jumpstarts a bunch of gender and sexuality realizations bc they can't actually ignore cassie's permanent tension with cissie (and almost every other woman she crosses paths with), and kon's entire relationship with gender and sexuality, and also the impact of his childhood

too many things have happened, and they're not in a place where they can just go back into the comfort zone of compulsory denial (heterosexuality)

maybe roxy comes back to help give some sort of closure to kon – maybe he looks for her and he doesn't find her

i think rose wilson should come back too bc she's the one that pushes cassie's buttons in a way she can't ignore

bart's a good friend but also he's surprised that they don't know they're queer because he thought they all knew – he can't believe there's still drama about all of this

anita is mad at cassie that she always pushes for cissie to return but not anita, the one who actually misses hero life (does she? or does she want to be wanted back in the team?)

greta wants everyone to get along please

ray's still kon's friend and has some advice

kon is really happy for tim btw, and is just mad that tim is too busy in gotham with that boyfriend of his, what's his name anyways, barry? bob? beauford? steph says he's cool, but it's not like tim took the time to introduce them yet, but he's super happy for tim, and not at all hurt that he's dating someone else (who said that)

tim is having a crisis because balancing his civilian life with his hero life is HARD, has always been, and he thinks bernard might know he's robin, and that should be good, should make things easier, but– he doesn't know what comes after the but, but there's one for sure

cissie misses her young justice days in the sense that she misses spending so much time with her best friends, and she gets that's what cassie misses too, but being arrowette carried too much baggage that she doesn't want to touch with a mile foot long pole, and if cassie asks one more time she's gonna do something they both regret

people on my dash are already going on about how it would be "in character" for tim to cheat on bernard with kon... we got a cute timkon moment but At What Cost

oh nooooooo.........

i am once again begging people to acknowledge that the last time Tim actually cheated on a partner was when he was like 14 around 1996 (so literally 20+ years ago) with Jubilee during the DC vs Marvel crossover. anything after that point really wasn't Tim cheating for one of several reasons.

[more ranting about this under the cut, mostly me repeating things i've said before about this subject]

right. so. a short list of reasons anything post-DC vs Marvel & DC/Marvel: All Access wasn't actually Tim cheating:

The characters were not in an actually established relationship at the time- this is like the stuff during Red Robin era where Tim had moments with Tam and Lynx in a similar timeframe. Because yes Tim was in the early stages of getting with Tam then, but they definitely did not get to a 'we are exclusively together now' point during the book! She was absolutely his main love interest, and if the book hadn't ended bc of the New 52 they probably would have made up from their fight towards the end and gotten more formally together... but we didn't actually get there. Totally fine to think he handled those situations with each girl poorly- he definitely did imo- but it wasn't cheating.

There was messed up timing between books when Tim's solo changed writers- stuff with Zo and Cassie slightly overlapped due to this... but also not even as much as people seem to think. [I made a whole timeline about this a while ago, yellow is Teen Titans/Cassie and pink is Robin/Zo]

Most panels of 'Tim kissing another girl while he was dating x!!' being shown as proof of him cheating are taken entirely out of context and the girl kissed Tim without his consent (at least 9 unique women that I could name off the top of my head have kissed Tim without his consent. several of them do become his love interests but they were not together at the time these kisses happened). Especially relevant info imo is that any and all cheating happened while he was dating Ariana (he kissed Steph early in his solo while dating Ari, and then also the earlier mentioned thing with Jubilee. Those are the instances of cheating), he never cheated on Steph (she mistakenly thinks he's cheating on her twice, with Star and then Darla, but he wasn't actually).

Then also for that messy thing in the New 52 with Cassie and Kiran on the boat the same night.... first of all New 52 Tim is barely Tim, but even so he wasn't dating either of them, like nothing was formal there. If anything the bigger problem is he was the person Kiran cheated on Bart with... but that's not to mention uhhhh Tim was literally under Trigon's influence for ALL of that.

Soooo yeah! Having modern day Tim actually cheat on Bernard is not something I think would be in character at all.

What I do think could be in character in regards to Timkon stuff at this moment (obviously all of this is unlikely, but just in terms of 'hypothetical situation') would be Tim coming to the realization of 'wait... did I like Kon... do I still like Kon?' and then having internal struggle over what to do with that information since he also likes and is dating Bernard. Tim is the kind of person to end up with feelings for more than one person at the same time, leaving him feeling torn between them. I think there's been plenty of time in his books devoted to that sort of thing over the years.

But him just deciding to cheat on the person he's in a committed relationship with isn't even really what happened in the canon instances of him cheating- the time he kissed Steph was because he'd almost died and she was the person there to save him, it was a 'holy fuck im ALIVE' heat of the moment thing... and then with Jubilee it was him stranded in the Marvel Universe as they were all told they needed to fight for the survival of their worlds and mostly a 'hey I don't know if i'm gonna survive or ever see my friends and family again but this girl is into me so lets make the most of it' situation that he promptly no longer wanted to be part of once he was back on his own world and the danger was gone. I think the context behind those two situations matters a lot when discussing Tim and the idea of cheating/how in character it is for him, but lots of people love to just gloss over it.

Like, if someone was more specifically saying "Tim and Kon ending up in a super dangerous 'one of them almost dies' situation and having a heat of the moment kiss" would be in character, I at least definitely get where that's coming from based on past canon. But saying it'd be in character for Tim to just choose to cheat on Bernard with Kon under normal circumstances? No way, man.

and steph!! dc would not be the same without her and i love it. who else gets to say they’ve been batgirl and robin, PLUS an ongoing, different, third identity they created early in their teens? practically oracle’s favorite? she’s iconic. i don’t really like the romance aspect, but i love them as friends.

anyway i know a certain extent of his friends haha, i feel like this is kind of a disappointing answer but-? i’m more than willing always to catch up on things if you have recs lmao

I Thought I'd try out blurbs!

Fic where I give Kon a "Speak Now" moment at a Timber wedding, bc all I know is angst and I thought I'd play around with this idea :)

Characters: Kon-E/Superboy, Tim Drake, Bernard Dowd (mentioned), Jason Todd (briefly)

“Thank you, Kon”

Tim looked over at his best friend, illuminated in the fireworks. His undone bowtie fluttered in the wind, blue eyes lit up with the neon busts of color. He sniffed and clapped a hand on Tim’s back,

“Couldn’t do anything less for my best friend's wedding, right?”

Tim smiled.

The rooftop was quiet other than the firework show above, Kon had taken him up to watch when the guests and music started to feel like too much. Bernard went somewhere with a couple of their old high school friends, probably watching the fireworks from below.

Bernard. Tim’s stomach did a little jump. Bernard, his husband, probably forever. He felt like a kid, stupid in love and stupid optimistic. Just for tonight, he didn’t care. The world could be perfect. He had Bernard, his family, his best friends. He smiled up at the fireworks.

Pretty perfect.

The ceremony was short and sweet. And small. Kon and Cassie and Bart in the wedding party, Dick, Jason, Cass, Duke, Damian, Steph, Kate, Bruce, Luke, Harper, Cullen, Babs—

Well, small for their family. A few relatives on Bernard’s side came (though they left pretty quickly) but mostly high school friends came to give their congratulations.

The after party…had been open to more guests. “Wayne” guests (though Bruce had assured him that they didn’t have to) but he and Bernard managed. That and Kon pulled him up to the roof to get some peace and quiet. And fireworks.

He breathed a sigh, the grin not quite leaving.

“I think I’m really….really happy, Kon”

He glanced back over.

Kon wasn’t looking at the fireworks. He was staring at Tim, a look behind his eyes.

“Kon?”

“Yeah?”

The firework show was ending now, a huge finale of lights and colors danced across the night sky. Kon’s eyes glistened in the brilliant oranges and blue’s. Like he was about to cry.

“Hey" he said, turning away from the brilliant lights, "You okay? What’s wrong?”

He shook his head, absentmindedly looking out over the hotel grounds and then at the gravel of the roof.

“Nothing–nothing’s wrong”

Tim took a step closer, shortening the gap between them. Kon kept his eyes glued to the ground and shoved his hands in his pockets.

“Come on, you’ve been weird all day, I know you,” another round of ‘boom’s’ sounded as more fireworks went up, “What’s wrong?”

Kon pursed his lips.

“...I’m sorry”

Tim blinked,

“What?”

“I’m sorry, Tim” his voice broke, he cleared his throat and took a deep breath.

“What are you talking about?”

“I’m in love with you”

Tim's breath caught in his lungs. Someone shrieked with laughter in the parking lot below,

“...What?”

Kon brought his gaze up to meet Tim’s eyes. Tear tracks shone in blue, green, gold, red.

“Kon–not funny”

“I’m serious”

Tim took a few breaths, looking anywhere but–but Kon’s face.

“I’m sorry–”

“Why would–why would you say that?”

Kon remained silent, hands in his pocket,

“Kon–I”

I spent years in love with you, I didn’t know how to say it, you’re my best friend, I’m getting married–I am married.

“I know”

“You–you’re my best friend, Kon, and-”

“Stop”

Fireworks sizzled and popped overhead. They just stared at one another.

“I know I…I should have said this a long time ago”

Kon's face twisted into something pained,

“I know there’s no way to fix this, I know this is selfish and fucking stupid, but I–” He cut off, breath shaky, and Tim had to fight down the instinct to comfort Kon, step forward and pull his best friend into a hug.

“I’m not asking you to–to do anything, or leave Ben, you guys are great together and I—-I am so happy for you.”

Tim just stared, the pit of his stomach falling further.

Kon rubbed his forehead with the palm of his hand. He laughed,

“I had to tell you…” he bit his lip, “I had to tell you once.” he let his hand fall to his side.

A single firework screamed and popped, showering them both in a violent pink.

“You don’t have to say anything,” Kon said.

“You don’t have to answer me or–or say anything or—” he squeezed his eyes shut, “Or ever see me again, and I’ll understand…I just…I just had to tell you”

This time Tim slowly nodded. Because somewhere he did understand. A lump stuck in his throat…things would never be the same for them. That was why Tim had kept his own feelings secret for so long...afraid of the rejection, afraid of losing Kon (The irony rang painfully in his chest). But that was years and years ago. And before he’d met Bernard. Before he’d even come to grips with who he was.

“That’s it i guess” Kon nodded stiffly, “I-”

The door to the roof opened, fluorescent yellow shined on the gravel.

“Someone’s looking for you Timmy” Jason stood outlined in the doorway, leaning on the handle with a hand on his hip. The grin dropped from his face when he saw Tim and Kon standing there.

Kon took a look at Tim, saying something unvoicable, and flew off into the night.

general opinions: I only accept the good canon <3 yj tim is my everything i ADORE him. i could go on forever trust me bc he's my fave. i have problems with comics from all eras, not just post n52, but i've gotta say as much as tt2003 had its shitty moments, it made me ship timkon so hard lmao. gotta love it. i love tim's angstier side in red robin. he's so funny and so relatable. i miss pre-new52 tim so much. my fave version of him had got to be yj and parts of his robin run, though (only parts bc some writers SUCKED - looking at you, bill willingham)

Steph:

ship with: cass, kara, tim (but tbh as much as timsteph is so, so cute, i feel like steph and cass would be SO great lol)

general opinions: steph is one of dc's most interesting characters, and the way they've treated her is absolutely criminal at times (i could go on forever but like. it's 4:41am here). but i just love her so much - she's so strong and so much fun and she means a lot to me - so cheerful and so different in some ways to the rest of the batfam. she's a badass queen and i wish she was batgirl again (though she's cool as spoiler but like. she was robbed lol)
