Reader squeaks, avoiding another cannonball heading his way as he flies away
Finally, he managed to reach his destination, an emergency boat intended for use if the main ship sank.
Reader, however, had a much different intention for said boat, intending to escape his captivity at the hands of Captain Krieg.
Don Krieg's face drops as he watches the ship take off.
"Shoot the little rat down!"
Another shriek escapes him as he raises the sails, giving the small boat speed and creating distance from Krieg and the incoming cannonballs
'Shoot for the sails!'.
Don-Kreich and the rest of his crew frantically fire their remaining cannons.
He flinches as one of the cannonballs lands dangerously close, the small boat shaken by the force of the waves created in turn
He sighs with relief as he makes enough distance from the main boat to be out of range of the canon
“I did it…” he mutters, the reality of what just happened to him hitting the young boy as they slowly sink down, rogue tears gradually increasing until a river of tears fell from his eyes, sobbing for his father and the safety on his embrace, exhaustion catching up to him as sleep enveloped him.
Reader was woken up by the ship impacting with a much bigger boat
“Ow,” he whines, rubbing his head, looking up and awing; he had stumbled upon a giant ship if one could call it that, a fish making the underside with a building in the middle.
“B..?” he squints at the words in front of the weird shape, unable to make out what the collection of letters read; he flutters up and into the vast ship.
He sneaks all the way towards where he sees bustling of people, hiding behind a pillar and peeking out, spotting a blond man smoking on the railings of the ship
He squeaks as the man turns his head his way, and he quickly dart back behind the pillar
“Hmm?” Sanji watches the strange sight, tilting his head
Reader peeks his head out again, taking a glimpse at the man, darting back once they see the man staring at him
Sanji watches the child curiously before heading over to the person of interest
He squeals as he peeks out again, only to see the man right before him, slowly backing away, tears welling in his eyes
Sanji looks at the child, his expression softening
“Hey, what are you doing out here all alone?”
“I-I I “
Sanji kneels down in front of the boy.
“Are you alright?” he asks
“I -I want my daddy.”
Sanji looks concerned. “Do you know where he is?” he asks
He shakes their head
“Oh…how about you just come with me to my kitchen then…we can get something to eat at least,” Sanji says
He stares at his hand hesitantly
“Hey, I won’t hurt you, alright? You look like you could use a nice meal. C’mon,” he says, offering his hand
He slowly puts his hands over his
Sanji gently takes the little hand as he starts walking, headed to the kitchen
“What’s your name, kid?” he asks
“Reader”
“And where are you from, Reader?”
“Ummm, im from Papa’s island!”
“Hmm…and how did you end up all alone out here?”
“A bad guy took me,” he said, stretching his wings out
“I see…let’s see if we can find you some food then, ok?” Sanji takes the boy to the kitchen
“Okay!”
Sanji puts the little one on a chair before making them some food
“Here…” Sanji gives him a warm bowl of soup
“Thank you, Mister!”
“You’re welcome…” Sanji says kindly
“That was really yummy, Mister.” he smiles, kicking his feet and lightly flapping his wings in content
“Umm, what's your name, Mister?”
“My name is Sanji…nice to meet you, Reader.”
“Hi, Hi, Sanji!”
“Oi Assitant Headchef Sanji! We need you on the floor! We don’t have any waiters! They ran off yesterday!”
Sanji looks up from his workstation and then turns back to the child; he sighs
“I gotta help these idiots out there. Could you wait for me on the platform? You have a nice view from there; once im done, I‘ll help you find your father; does that sound good?”
“Okay! But you have to promise to come back and help me find Daddy!”
Sanji smiles.
“Do not worry, im a man of my word. Go on now and wait for me there; I’ll be there shortly.”
"Okay." he smiles flying toward the upper balcony
The next hour was a blur to the small child, from meeting the future King of the pirates on the balcony to seeing him comedically try to convince Sanji to join his crew to laughing joyously as Luffy and Zoro quarrel to a feeling of fear and dread enveloped him as the familiar gold armored man came barging in, carried by the hungry man, asking for food and pummeling Sanji to the ground and shooting all the chefs when he received the food but did received refusal to his demand of handing the restaurant To him.
He now found themselves crying in the hands of the blond cook as he soothed down his loud sobs and cries.
Sanji sighs softly as he takes a handkerchief and gently wipes his tears
"Hey, Hey, it's okay; he's not gonna touch you again, darling."
"H-H-he came back, he came back, and Mister Sanji and the others got hurt!"
"Hey now, I will never let anyone hurt you, alright?" Sanji pulls the child close to him
He grunts as Don Krieg starts demanding food for his crew; needing food to feed a hundred people, he gently passes over the kid over to Zoro, who happens to be the closest to him; once they had managed to calm down the child, their sobs now simply reduced to heavy breathing.
"Stay here, Darling, i'll be right back
"Where are you going?" a chef questions
"Im going to the kitchen to prepare enough food for a hundred people," he mutters, taking a drag from his cigarette as chaos erupted in the restaurant once again, punches being delivered until Zeff walked out and handed a bag full of food for Krieg's crew
Zoro rolls his eyes, glancing down at the child. In his arms
"Oi, where are your parents?" he questions
"I don't know where Daddy is."
"Who is your dad?"
"Umm, Daddy!
"Of course," He grunts
"....That hawk-eyed man whose glare is sharp enough to kill a man," the hungry man mutters as they both tune in back to the conversation
"That's Daddy!"
"What?!" he said, ruffling through his pockets and pulling out a wrinkled old paper with a familiar face on it
"Is this your father?"
"That's Daddy!"
"You're the child of H-
His discovery Is cut short as a tremendous force cuts the huge galleon in half, making the baratie sway violently.
"Look out!" He growls, moving reader out of the way as the swaying throws the chairs and tables around, almost taking with it Reader.
He squeals at the sudden collision and movement; they look up a Zoro
"Are you okay?"
He, however, does not respond, eyes glued in front of him, staring at the ship that was slowly sinking to the sea, and in front of it floated a raft with a familiar man sitting on it.
"DADDY!" he cheers, wriggling out of Zoro's grasp to fly towards their father, barreling right into him
Mihawk catches the young child, gently holding him in one arm.
"There, there..."
"You're here," he mutters
Mihawk nods, gently running his fingers through his hair
"I am," he says, looking down at him
"Are you unharmed? Did they hurt you?" he said, gesturing to Zoro and their aquentainces.
He shakes his head
"They helped me, they gave me food, and they took care of me."
He hums at their answer
"Damn you, what did we do to you?! Why the hell did you have to follow us all the way out here!" a crewmate of Krieg sneered, pulling out two guns and shooing the swordsman
"Why? What impertinence to ask such a question; I came because you had the nerve to take something from me," he said, deflecting the bullets from him and his child with ease.
"You really are the strongest... I set sail to meet you," Zoro says, slowly stepping closer
Mihawk glances at him and then down at Reader.
"Stay here; I will return shortly," he said, placing him down in the raft and stepping into what remained of Krieg's ship towards the ex-pirate hunter
They engaged in a few words and then engaged in the one-way battle, Mihawk not moving from his spot as he easily bested the green head with his tiny dagger; impressed with his ambition, ferocity, and conviction, he asked for his name, and gave him his respect and honor of bringing him down with all of his force, using Yoru.
"Stand Strong, Roronoa; I will wait for you at the top. No matter how many months or years pass, I will wait for you to surpass my sword."
He smiles as he watches as Zoro raises his sword and promises Luffy never to lose again
"You make a good team; I'd like to see you in the future. You have my thanks and respect for taking care of Reader while I was gone," He says, walking away to his raft and scooping said child, smiling again as they giggle and nuzzle into them.
"Farewell

5 years old...
jisung played in the the garden of dawn court palace, chasing a butterfly around in the garden. "ow!" he heard a scream , then crying. he got up , following the noise. he came across a girl his age, that he's never seen before.
he approached , standing over your body. "are you okay?" you looked at him through your lashes, tears in your eyes. "i..i hu..rt my knee." you sobbed holding your leg. "let me see." he bent down, you stared at him in suspicion, your wings wrapping flapping behind you. "i..i do..n't know you." he proudly huffed his chest. "i'm han jisung, im gonna be the highlord of dawn court. you smiled, sniffling. "i'm _." he waved. "now you know me, let me see your leg." you moved your hand. "you're bleeding." he grimaced.
"what are you gonna do?" the boy put his hand on your knee, healing it. "see it's better." he helped you up. "wow! how did you do that?" you dusted off your dress. "i have powers, you don't?" you showed him your wings. "i can fly." you started levitating, but you were quickly picked up, immediately recognizing your father. "what have me and your mother told you." you giggled. "no flying until my wings are stronger." he put you down.
"dad i healed her leg." jisung pointed. "see she was bleeding now she isn't." jisungs father chuckled, high fiving him. "good job." "i see they've met already" jisungs father talked to yours. "me and your dad have been friends since we were kids too." "my daddy is gonna protect your daddy, that's what he told me." jisung didn't like that. "my daddy doesn't need protection, he's the high lord." you frowned. "that's why he needs protection, duh." the two older men laughed at their children.
"they're gonna be bestfriends."
10 years old...
"we're gonna get married one day." you stared at your friend in disgust. "no we won't." you said eating your sandwich in one of dawn court gardens. "mhm, today in class i learned about mating bonds, and we're gonna be mates." he took a bite of his sandwich.
"you don't choose your mate jisung, it just happens." you explained. "well, then it has to happen." you shook your head. "that's not how that works." he shrugged. "i don't care, i'll make it work."
"we're gonna get married."
17 years old...
"you start training to be a high lord soon." you frowned, sitting at the same spot you once met when you were five. "and my mom says i need to start attempting to find my mate." jisung heart stung at the mentions of your mate, but he ignored it.
"what if we don't have time for each other?" he saw the worry in your eyes. "hey." he grabbed your hand. "we won't let that happen, i swear." you leaned your head on his shoulder, his head rested on yours. "swear?" you held out your pinky, he grabbed your finger.
"i swear."
now...
"i can't believe this!" you and your dad stared at each other rolling your eyes. "good morning mom." you thank the kitchen staff who sat the food on your plate. "my daughter is gonna die alone." she was being dramatic. "wow, way to still have hope." you scoffed, taking a bite of your toast. "you're 23, soon to be 24, and you still haven't found your mate, oh no! what if he's illryan , or worse human." you turned to your dad for help.
"honey, please, she still has time." you shrugged, smirking getting an idea. "you know mom you're right, he could be human or illryan." your mom gasped. "or worse, i could say no, and we'll watch as the faerie slowly go insane." your mom looked like she was about to pass out. "_, enough." your dad silently fistbumped you.
"i'm glad you both find this amusing." the housing staff came over to give her the morning tea she'd always drink. "drink this and calm down." mrs.kim said.
"oh! what about jisung, didn't he use to say you'd get married one day." your eyebrow quirked up. "oh yeah, you'd use to say no all the time, that you were just friends." you said. "what about him? it's been what 5 years, we aren't friends anymore." you said. "why, did you two fight?" your mother said.
"uh no, he got busy with training, and i moved on to finding new friends." you turned to your dad. "how has he and his family been, you see his dad almost everyday?" you questioned. "he's preparing for his move up to highlord." you nodded. "has he found someone." you looked down at your fingers.
you didn't mean to fall off with jisung, but he became invested in his training, and you became a second thought, so you distance yourself, finding some new friends, and branching out finding yourself.
"no he hasn't actually, his father was just telling me his wife was also hounding him about finding his mate and be wed." your mother spoke up again. "you need to meet him and wed, i don't care if he isn't your mate, you'll eventually love each other." you shook your head. "i have to meet haechan and karina to go dress shopping, i'll see you guys later." you stood up.
"that donghyuck boy is the reason you won't marry, always hanging around him." you rolled your eyes, walking aways. "if my mate is scared of haechan, then we can't marry, that's my platonic soulmate." you fluttered your wings, making your dad yell, "no flying in the castle, you'll break something."
"she's at it again?" haechan asked as you walked through the shops looking for a dress with karina. "this time she blames haechan." the boy was offened. "i thought she liked me." he exclaimed. "oh she does, she just also believes you're the reason why i haven't found my mate yet." karina laughed. "funny, my mom thinks the same thing." she picked up a dress. "wow, im offended."
"what about this?" you shrugged. "it's alright." the girl huffed. "it needs to be perfect or my mom is gonna flip, you know how she isn't when we don't look the best. "well what is it for?" haechan said. "i told you, jisung is having a court party tomorrow night, he's planning on courting a wife, aren't you gonna be there?" you weren't even aware of the party.
"yeah, aren't you friends?" haechan said. "i always thought you two would be wed, you spent every day together, i thought you were dating, with the way your wings would flap like they do when you like someone." you slapped haechans shoulder. "they don't do that, and i haven't talk to jisung in like 5 years."
"yeah then what about jen- it wasn't because of that, and we agreed to not speak about it." you interrupted. "well anyway, you have to come, i mean your dad is his dad's second in command, it will be weird if you don't come."
you thought about , should you go?
"what did you do?" jisung stared at his parents in disbelief. "son i had nothing to do with this , this was all your mothers doing." he turned to mother.
"what else was i supposed to do, you're about to become highlord soon , you need someone to help you run dawn court , your dad didn't find me until after he became high lord and the first three years while he was in reign were horrible." jisung's dad sat there offended. "love you too honey."
"that's not what i mean, what i mean is you need someone by your side while you rule." jisung couldn't believe his mother. "a courting party , you thought that was a good way to go?" she nodded.
he scoffed , "what's the harm in even trying , who knows , what if your mate is at the party." he scoffed. "i've given up in trying to find them a long time ago." his dad spoke up. "i always thought it would be _."
"_?" he hadn't heard that name in such a long time.
"yeah, the way you'd go around screaming that you'd one day marry her." jisung cringed at his younger self. "she was such nice girl , what happened to you guys anyway?" he shrugged. "we grew up, i haven't seen her like 5 years, im pretty sure she's dating haechan." his mother hummed. "her poor mother haechan is a lot, that's too bad."
jisung had to get out of there, making his way into town, making his way through all the shops, stopping to talk to the towns people, his parents his mother was gonna make him lose his mind about the party, a party that he didn't even want. jisung was fine without a mate , he never felt like he needed one after he met you , he always thought you two would just platonically be together for eternity. of course he looked at other girls , but he never saw a long future with them— because he had you.
but then you both drifted apart and he just didn't care about the whole mate or wedding thing. jisung didn't know why he stopped reaching out , now he's about to find his new wife , become highlord—it's all moving faster than he could handle , he wished he still had you to talk about, he wished he had his bestfriend.
jisung was caught in his thoughts, he hadn't realized he was walking straight into someone , until it was too late. "ow!" he remembers that high pitched cry of pain.
"_?"
you looked up at the person who pushed you down. "jisung." he helped you up. "h..holy shit, it's you." he wanted to hug you, but he knew that might've been weird. "jisung, hi."
"shit, im an idiot, are you okay?" you nodded , brushing yourself off. "this was nothing, i've taken harder falls." he laughed. "yeah, remember when you fell down the steps after trying to fly." you pouted. "you promised not to bring it up." you laughed. "im sorry." there was a silence, jisung stared at you- when did you get so pretty?
you let out a cough , and jisung's face turned red, knowing he'd been caught staring. "h..gow have you been?" he stuttered "good, you, i heard you're having a courting party coming up." oh my god , who told you. "my mom planned it without my knowledge." he said. "your mom is at too, my mom has been hounding me." you said.
"you want to know something funny , my mom told me she thought we'd end up together." your laugh, made his heart beat faster. "m..my mom said the same thing." he laughed. "i guess we really did spend all our time together, now you're about to be wed, and im- where have you been." haechan interrupted you guys. "karina is freaking out , she needs our to impress her mother." you sighed, jisung was upset , he didn't want you to go.
"well i guess, i have go help, i hope to see you soon." he nodded, and you turned to walk away. "wait." he stopped you. "a..are you coming to the party tomorrow." was he asking you to come. "i mean both of you can come if you want." he said. "cool bro, we'll be there." haechan said. "sure sungie, we'll be there." he couldn't help but smile at the old nickname.
"great , i'll you there- you both i mean." his ears were red. "okay, bye." you waved , as haechan dragged you away, jisung was so happy you were coming to the party, so happy that he wasn't even upset with his parents anymore , he's just glad he gets to see you again.
"mrs.kim be honest." you stood in the mirror as the older lady helped you get ready. "does this dress look good?" you spent all rest of the day before dress shopping with karina and haechan. "i think it's beautiful." she tied it up in the back. "but i can't help but wonder what's with sudden change of mind, yesterday you showed no interest in the party, now you're stressing?"
"karina has infiltrated my brain i guess." you lied, you were just excited to see jisung. he really did grow into his looks, all the training payed off too, his buff arms , small waist, he really matured in the best kind of way. "mrs.?" mrs.kim bought you back from your weird thought about your old friend. "huh?" you said. "i said you're done , your families carriage should be here soon to take you guys to the party." you nodded , face hot from the thought.
"okay, you got this, it's just jisung , i mean you've knewn him his whole life, it's nothing." you sighed, but why did you kind of hate the fact it was under these circumstances, that you'd be seeing him?
"dude, this is the third suit , i think they're all fine." felix watched his friend pace back and forth, he had come all the way from day court to the party. "jesus you're a wreck, i thought you didn't want this party anyway." jisung fixed the robe to his suit. "i didn't." he said. "what changed your mind?"
you did, he was so excited to see you again, you definitely didn't look the same as you did 5 years ago, you lost all the baby fat from your face, your figure was enough to make anyone stop and stare, not to mention your boo—"you there?"
felix tapped his friend who drifted away. "y..yeah, i'm sorry, i guess i don't want to disappoint my parents, they're really looking forward to this night, well my mom is." he lied, hoping his friend didn't notice his red face. "you'll do fine, you'll find your future wife tonight and in a week you'll be sworn in as highlord, it's finally happening bro, your life is just beginning." why did he feel like it's about to end.
you and your family stepped out your carriage, greeting everyone outside, before making your way inside, you were met at the door by the han family. "my lord, my lady" you bowed. "_, look at you, you're grown into such beautiful woman." you thank, ms.han. "soon we'll be having one of thess for her." you roll your eyes at your mother.
"hey!" you seen haechan and karina waving you over, you turned to them. "if you'll excuse me, it was nice seeing you guys." you bow, turning to walk away.
"you look good." haechan complimented. "i would've taken the compliment had you'd been looking at the outfit and not my boobs." he smiled cheekily. "can't blame me, they're sitting up perfectly." karina scoffed. "are you serious?" he shrugged, you shook your head at the boy. "let's go get something to drink."
"_?" you turned upon hearing your name. "hey jisung." he was stunned, you looked gorgeous. the way the dress fit you, it had him thinking about your figure once again, your curves the way the dress made them pop, the color was perfect against the iridescent color of your wings— your boobs, he didn't mean to look, but the way they sat , he couldn't help it. "jisung?" you waved a hand in his face. "kinda lost you there?" you laughed.
"whoa, you look beautiful." you smiled. "you don't look so bad yourself." you weren't wrong, he looked good the way the suit fit around his arms, the corset attenuated his waist. "t..thank you." he stuttered. "are you having fun?" you nodded. "you know i've never been a fan of big parties." he nodded. "me either."
he was about say something when both your mothers approached you. "it's great to see you two together, but in order for this to work, you actually have to talk to other faerie girls." his mother grabbed his arm, dragging him away. "and at least try and to talk to other guys, jisung's mother just asked when are you and haechan gonna be wed." you scrunched your nose up in confusion. "why?" you laughed. "that isn't funny, go mingle." you turned to jisung who was talking to a brunette faerie from summer court, you frowned.
as the night went on, the party grew, different faeire girls approaching jisung, he didn't find any interest in them, he kept looking at you, you spent half the time dancing with haechan or karina, he couldn't help but wish he was the one dancing with you.
like right now, he was supposed to be talking to the day court faerie felix introduced him to, but he was too busy scanning the room for you , he had noticed you were no longer there. "dude, what the hell, that's the 3rd faerie i introduced you to that you've completely ignored." felix snapped his fingers in his face. "i..i need some air, i'll be back, if my mom comes looking for me, tell her i've gone to the restroom." he walked away from the confused boy.
it was starting to get crowed, so you found yourself wandering around the castle, until you came to the spot where you and jisung once spent all your time together. "i guess we had the same idea." you recognized the voice, smiling. "i guess so." you moved over , so he could sit next to you.
"we used to spend all day out here." he said. "it was our spot." his body froze as you put your head on his shoulder, quickly calming down. "this is where you promised to marry me." he cringed. "i was 10, and you rejected me." he laughed. "now look at you, finding your bride to be." his heart stung, he didn't want to, he wanted to be with you, you were his forever.
"_?" you stared up at him through those pretty lashes, he couldn't help it, he brought his hand to your face. "sungie what are- hmph ." he pushed his lips against yours, and it was like everything clicked together.
"i knew it." he mumbled against your lips, you laughed, pulling away. "you had to ruin it." you slapped his shoulder. "did i?" he pulled you into another steamy kiss, pushing his tongue into your mouth, tongues fight for dominance. "j..jisung." you moaned as he kissed along side your jaw. "jisung , i need you." your eyes were blown out , lips swollen from his rough kisses, you looked so beautiful.
he reached his hand up your dress, touching you were you needed him. "you're so wet." he tapped your swollen clit, you whined. "been thinking about you all night." he smirked, rubbing circles against your clit. "have you, naughty girl." he pulled your panties to the side. "been thinking about you too, every since yesterday." he took your hand, placing it at his hard cock. "y..you feel how hard i am baby, you've really grown up." he moaned as you massaged him through his pants.
"f..fuck baby i can't cum in my pants." he unbuttoned his pants, you pulled his cock out from his pants, running your finger over his aching tip. "that's it pretty girl -shit- jerk me off." he added another finger, speeding his pace.
it was lewd, both of you basically getting each other off, in the secret spot of the castle, but you both didn't care, all you cared about is getting your releases, your's which was quickly approaching.
"j..jisung, i..im gonna cum." you moaned, grinding against his hand. "you gonna cum for me, being a good girl and cum for me." he brought his hand up to your boobs squeezing them, running a finger over your nipple. "fuck!" you gasped, cumming on his fingers. "good girl, grind down on my hand." he rode out your high.
"f..fuck princess, the party, they're probably looking forus." you quickly sped up your movements, he bucked up against your hand. "are you cumming sungie?" you purred in his ear, he closed his eyes nodding. "cum for me." you whispered in his ear. "k...kiss me please." you pulled him into a messy kiss, he moaned into the kisses, cumming into your hand. "ngh!"
you brought your cum covered hand, to your mouth, licking it clean. "fuck you're perfect." he pulled you into another kiss. "there was no way you were my mate." you smiled, before everything came hitting you full force. "the party." you exclaimed. "shit we have to go." he tucked himself away, and you both tried to fix yourselves, before separately making your way back to the party.
jisung frantically tried to find his mother, to tell her what happened, that he found his mate. "mom!" he finally found her. "mom!" he ran up to her. "great heavens where have you been, i've been looking everywhere you!" she exclaimed.
"that's not important listen it's about the arra- don't worry , it's been settled, you are to be to married to yoojung of summer court." he shook his head no, but she wasn't even listening, presenting a girl in front of him. "this is yoojun." the girl in front of him bowed. "w..wait mom- enough it's been talked about between the parents already." the older lady tapped on the glass , getting everyone's attention, the girl stood close to him , he moved over, his eyes turning to you , he could hear his heartbreaking at the look in your eyes.
it felt like someone was stomping on your heart, as you watch jisung's mother gather everyone, the brunette standing next to jisung signaling it was too late, you both were too late. "everyone we have found the future lady of dawn court, yoojung." everyone began to clap, except you and jisung, he was staring directly into your eyes, almost like he was begging for you to tell him your next move. you shook your head no, and frowned, you both knew it was too late.
you wiped the tear that fell from your face, as someone touched your shoulder. "hey, where have you been?" haechan and karina walked up to you. "oh uh, i went to get some air." karina looked into your eyes. "wait, have you been crying?" you shook your head, laughing. "happy tears, my bestfriend is getting married." you lied straight through your teeth. "ah that makes sense." haechan hugged you. "it's okay, you still have us." you shook your head. "yeah i do." you pulled away.
"im gonna go find my parents, they're probably trying to sneak out of here, my mother will be pissed if she doesn't get to sleep on time, you know how she is." they nodded saying there goodbyes, you just do desperately wanted to get out of there, quickly making your exit.
"_, wait!" jisung ran after you, grabbing your wrist , stopping you. "we can stop this." he grabbed your hand. "jisu- it's nice to meet you." yoojung held her hand out. you had no bad blood, but you damn sure didn't want to give her a handshake. "say hello." your mother snuck up behind you. you put on your best fake smile, holding your hand out. "it's nice to meet you too." your mother smiled. "isn't it exciting." ms.han walked over. "definitely, congratulations jisung." your mother said.
"are you guys leaving?" you mother answered. "yes, we must leave now." she said. "oh well will you be there when our jisungie is sworn in as highlord?" you prayed your mother said no, but it seems like whoever above was out to get you. "of course, after that is the wedding right." his mother squealed in delight. "of course."
jisung bit his lip, he so desperately wanted to say something, he wanted to put a stop to this, but all he could do was look into your sad eyes, as you walked away with your parents.
"everything alright dear, you seem out of it?" your father asked you as you began to walk up the steps to your room. "im fine." you said. "just really tired." he smiled. "well goodnight, see you in the morning." you nodded, continuing on your way to your room, just ready for the day to be over.
for the next week that's all everyone could talk about, it's like you couldn't escape the talk over jisung marriage and him becoming highlord soon. "im sorry girl, this must sting like hell." karina said after you told her everything. "your mate getting engaged to someone else." it did sting like hell, it felt like being stabbed with knives in the stomach.
not as much as your mother forcing your blinds open on the day of his sworn in. "i don't know what's gotten into you, but you're not gonna mope around here any longer, today your bestfriend will become highlord, with his fiance by his side you should be happy." was she trying to kill you. "now get up it's much to get done before tonight." she pulled you out of bed, forcing you to get ready for tonight.
"jisung did you hear me?" yoojung clapped in his face. "huh?" she sighed. "i said are you excited for tonight, you become highlord." he nodded unenthusiastically. "yeah of course." the boys really didn't care about that, the only thing on his mind for the past week was you, he missed you, it seems like the week you were away hurt more than the entire 5 years you weren't talking ever since he found out you were his mate.
"is everything okay?" yoojung held his hand, but it didn't feel like yours. "i'm fine." he took his hand away. "i'm gonna go see if everything is settled for tonight." he walked out the room, leaving the girl.
"why do i have to wear this?" you groaned as your mrs.kim tightened the corset of the dress. "i can't breathe." you winced. "you can breathe later." your mother said. "i don't really want to go." you sat down, letting them put the shoes on since you could barely move. "well suck it, you're going and you're gonna smile." your mom sternly spoke. "got it?" you faked smiled just to piss her off. "we'll work on it."
"jisung, the guest are sitting, you ready?" yoojung walked into his room. "i guess, let's do this." he reached his arm out so she could take it. "no." she said. "what is it?" she sighed. "im not stupid, i know you don't want to marry me." she said. "i'm sorry it's just- that you've found your mate, your bestfriend." he was shocked. "don't be shock it's not like it was hard to see." she said. "i'm sorry." he spoke up after a few seconds of silence. "don't be, i'd rather know now, then be caught in a love affair later down the rode." he laughed. "what are we gonna do?"
"well you are gonna man up to your mother, and tell everyone the wedding is off and that you've found your mate, and im gonna go back to summer court and hopefully i find my mate too." he smiled, finally giving her a genuine smile. "i wish you nothing but the best." she smiled back.
"you too han jisung."
the sworn in was long and boring; not to mention jisung looked so good, and it didn't help your poor heart everytime he turned to look at you. soon the sworn was over and everyone stood and bowed to the new highlord of dawn court, clapping.
"that thing was fucking boring." haechan complained at the party after. "god i would die if i had to do that." karina snickered. "dawn court would be in ruins if you were highlord." you watched them go back in forth with each other, shaking your head.
"h..hello." jisung stood up to get everyone's attention. "well first, i want to thank everyone for coming." he started. "but there's something else i wanted to talk about about." he said, looking at you. "what are you doing?" you mouthed. "the wedding is off." mumbles of 'what's' filled the ballroom. "jisung wha- no mom i need you to listen to me, for once" he said.
"the wedding is off, because i found my mate finally." he looked directly at you, you felt the stares on you. "after all this time, i've found my mate, it's been staring me in the face since i was five years old." he laughed. "and i won't be able to be happy if she isn't by my side, i let her go for 5 years and im not ready to let her go again." it was silent, nobody said anything. "i love you." you spoke up, he smiled. "i love you too."
"jisungie, im so sorry i didn't listen to you, i just wanted what was best for you." ms.han spoke up. "i found what's best for me." he said. "i know, she'll make a wonderful bride." he nodded. "i know."
once the initial shock went away, the party actually started , your mother was practically in tears when she ran up to you. "my baby won't marry a human or haechan." which the boy was very offended by. "she does love you, i promise." you reassured the boy , jisung came up to you , wrapping his arms around you.
"hi." he whispered into your neck. "hello." you smiled. "get a room, no one wants to see that." haechan gagged. "yoojung is free, why don't you try and talk to her." you said. "fine, only because i don't want to be a third and karina has ditched me." he walked away.
"yoojung is gonna love him." han took your hand. "let's go." you looked at him confused. "go where?" he smirked. "to get a room." you scoffed. "seriously at your party?" he cocked his head to the side. "didn't stop us before." your face heated up, remember the the night of the party. "let's go."
he guided you to his room , away from everyone. "i got you all to myself." he pushed you down on the bed, hovering over you. "my pretty mate." he whispered in your ear, grinding his clothed erection against your heat. "j..jisung, please." you let out a breathy moan. "i..i need you inside me."
he stood up, undoing his pants, letting them fall to his ankles, he pushed your dress up on your hip, pulling your panties down. "such a pretty pussy, can't wait to taste it." he rubbed his cock, up and down your cunt, teasing your clit. "pl..lease n..no teasing." he cursed under his breath. "you're so cute begging for me to fuck you." he pushed his tip into your clenching hole.
"w..want me to fill you up, fuck you full." you nodded. "p..please- shit! " you moaned as he pushed fully into you. "s..shit, been waiting to feel you since the party." he rocked his hips , fucking into you. "s..sungie, please- faster." he held your hips as he fucked you at a animalistic pace. "f..fuck baby, i don't think i can last with you clenching around me like that."
"fuck jisung!" you screamed as rutted into you, your high was approaching quickly. "jisung, im gonna cum!" he groaned, his head dipping into your neck to leave little marks. "so -shit- your mines, your body is mines." he repeated in your ear. "who's pretty pussy is this." you were a moaning mess, coil in your abdomen about to snap. "answer me." he hit particular spot, making you yelp. "yours it's yours!" you screamed.
"good girl, now you can cum." he kissed your lips, you came with a cry of his name. "that's it, -fuck! im gonna cum." his thrust became more frenzied as he chased his own high. "ngh, fuck!" he came with a string of curse words and your name.
"i don't want pull out just yet, i just want to stay here with you." he layed on top of you. "we have to go back to your party." he pouted his lips, you kissed them. "okay just a little longer." he smiled at his success, and you two sat there is silence for a while before , he let out a little chuckle. "what's so funny."
"i told you that i'd marry you one day, and you didn't believe me, now look at us."

Bigger Than The Whole Sky is Elsa singing to her unalive baby.
"I'm never gonna meet what could've been, would've been, what should've been you"
"You were more than just a short time"
"Did some force take you because I didn't pray?"
Kay byeee!!!!
I'm gonna hurt you. :)
No words appear before me in the aftermath Salt streams out my eyes and into my ears Every single thing I touch becomes sick with sadness 'Cause it's all over now, all out to sea
A few days after the birth of Elsa's children as Jack was taking care of them, elsa walked around in the garden she had started to cope with things. All she could think about was the baby she lost. North had told her that she was going through post partum depression, and that certain thoughts and feelings would be eminent. Elsa sat down on the bench as tears streamed out of her eyes. She thought back to the baby she lost almost 300 year ago. Why did she lose it? Was it something she did? Something she didn't do? "Everything I touch dies..." She whispered with her hands on her face.
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye You were bigger than the whole sky You were more than just a short time And I've got a lot to pine about I've got a lot to live without
*300 years ago* Elsa sat in the bathroom. There was blood around her, and on her. What does she do? How does she clean this up? She can't flush... "Goodbye my love," Elsa whispered to her baby. Her baby who could've been bigger than the whole sky. "I have to live without you now.... I'm sorry," Elsa muttered as she locked the bathroom door and started wiping the blood up with an old towel.
I'm never gonna meet What could've been, would've been What should've been you What could've been, would've been you
When Elsa was finished cleaning the bathroom she sat there in silence. She's never going to meet her baby. The baby she had longed to meet ever since she found out. What would it have been? What could it have been? How was she going to tell jack...? "No... he doesn't need the pain..." Elsa muttered to herself as she determined she wouldn't tell him about the baby.
Did some bird flap its wings over in Asia? Did some force take you because I didn't pray? Every single thing to come has turned into ashes 'Cause it's all over, it's not meant to be So I'll say words I don't believe
*present day* Elsa was sitting on the floor now, dried tears on her eyes. Jack came into view. "Snowflake? What's wrong my love?" He asked as he rushed to his wife. "Where are the kids?" Elsa asked. "With anna.... Tell me what's wrong," Jack stated. Elsa broke down. "Did someone take my baby because I didn't pray enough? Or because I did something? Everything I touch turns to ice. It dies and it cant..." Elsa ranted. Jack knew exactly what she was talking about. Their baby that died almost 300 years ago.
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye You were bigger than the whole sky You were more than just a short time And I've got a lot to pine about I've got a lot to live without I'm never gonna meet What could've been, would've been What should've been you
*a few years ago* The adventure was over, and Jack could finally process what had happened. Elsa had been pregnant and... she lost the baby... Jack sat there in the room alone as he thought about what she went through... and how he was never able to meet his child... "Im... I'm never gonna meet that kid.... its.... they're gone...." Jack whispered as he processed the miscarriage.
What could've been, would've been you What could've been, would've been What should've been you What could've been, would've been you
Still in the garden, Jack held Elsa close to him as both of them thought about who their kid would've couldve and should've been.
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye You were bigger than the whole sky You were more than just a short time And I've got a lot to pine about I've got a lot to live without I'm never gonna meet What could've been, would've been What should've been you

I already commented on ur post asking for asks so just in case u didn’t see.
How do u figure out ur art style?
How did you drak fabric so well?
How do you draw body types so good?
Can you show me how to do the shiny effect you use for armor or golden stuff?
How do you draw such intricate people?
what is one of your first Zelda memories?
what are some Zelda core memories?
when did you come across the linked universe fandom?
I am also working on a au, it’s on my page and you shouldn’t have to scroll far, but long story short it’s called
linked universe: broken chain
and I was wondering if you had any ideas for additions to the new chain of links?
also there’s more details I’m thinking about posting later for the au, but if you have any design ideas for characters then I would love to hear/see them
also:what is your favorite OUTFIT(not person) to draw?
what one do you think is the prettiest or coolest? what one do you think looks funky/off? Is there anything you would change? What feels weird about them?
sorry if that’s too many questions, but you needed a distraction so I provided, I know ur probably not feeling good right now so I just want to make sure your at least happy, I know what it feels like to need to keep your mind from wandering. But also:
I hope to the golden three you’ve been feeding, watering, cleaning, medicating, sleeping, and generally taking care of yourself because i might pop though my iPad, through the internet, through whatever your using to read this, and into your room to strangle you and take care of you my self because you deserve it! You make so many people happy with your art and interactions and it sucks to know your in a less than great mood to say the least. So take this as you will, but more importantly take care of yourself and get some sleep, because I know you are probably reading this at fuck o clock at night. *makes pointed, intense metaphorical eye contact* I mean it, try and take care of thine bitch self. *smacks you with affection*
ill toss my reply under a read more since its a long ask eheh
ive already answered the questions in response to the reply you sent to the post and i greatly appreciate all the questions youve offered !!
what is one of your first Zelda memories? playing skyward sword !! i really REALLY enjoyed the wing ceremony - the introduction to flight using motion controls was one of my favourite things. i could spend hours flying around and using the wii-mote to pick a direction or flap the wings. it was gorgeous in my eyes as well. skyloft was a safe spot that i did not really leave, i was less interested in the rest of the game aside from faron. twilight princess as well !! i quite enjoyed running around on epona or in the wolf form. i did not get much done in either game, but i was mostly there for the sights, anyway.
what are some Zelda core memories? zeldacore memories ... my grandparents have an orchard that we would go pick from. sometimes if the apples werent good they would take us to a public orchard to pick apples there. when i was a kid i would grab a sword [ foam, of course ] and go out with my sister and we would hack down weeds and also pretend to battle one another to protect fake kingdoms that we would make up on the spot upon being questioned about it JFGHDFG we enjoyed running around and hiding in the orchard from one another. the same grandparents had some woods back behind their house, we'd go take walks through there sometimes and skuttle around thru the weeds and such.
when did you come across the linked universe fandom? mmm thats a good question. im pretty sure it was the start of 2019-ish? maybe 2020? im not very good with dates, but i knew of lu before i joined the server [ im no longer in that server tho ] !! i didnt really get into the fandom or whatever side of things until later, seeing as i was obsessing over loz at the time and ended up finding lu as an extension of that hyperfixation :)
what is your favorite OUTFIT(not person) to draw? i would have to say im biased towards my legend design's outfit !! i like adding details and embroidery to it. if we went with JUST canon lu outfits i would say im biased towards hyrule or twilight's :)
what one do you think is the prettiest or coolest? same answer as above !! my own for legend, but hyrule and twilight are pretty neat lookin. for Pretty i would have to say four - his tunic is rather ornate, especially when it comes to the embroidery in each square.
what one do you think looks funky/off? is there anything you would change? what feels weird about them? honestly i think wind's could do with some updates and upgrades, but im not entirely the best at designing characters either. his model has definitely gotten better over time though !! i think its the shirt and pants. i havent played his game(s?) so i couldnt entirely give answers on what i would change.
and i GREATLY appreciate the questions and your concern. youve no reason to apologize - im quite honoured tht u took the time to even type any of this out to send to me !! i am doing my best with what ive got currently, but rest assured im caring for myself just fine !! i definitely was readin that at fuck-o-clock at night ( and am answering this at the same time, if not worse !! its 5am just about now )
ill be heading off to bed here soon, but i have been thinkin on how to respond to this HDFGGDG no need for the smacks of affection, tho appreciated!! ill be cozied up and asleep soon enough :)
as for your au; ill check it out when i wake !! im sure its fascinating, feel free to toss an ask again on some information / the ideas behind it in here :)
have a good night / day !! here is to hopefully better times in the future

Life [Wilbur Soot/Fundy]
BOOOM HI HELLO HOW ARE YOU UH UM SO I WAS INSPIRED WHILE I WAS BORED AND THEN THIS IS HOW THIS ONESHOT CAME TO BE. ITS NOT GOOD, BUT ITS DECENT. You’re gonna be taking Sally’s place so, uh, I’m sorry, Sally, you’re just another salmon. Still love you though  THIS TOOK SO LONG TO MAKE DEAR GOD ITS BEEN IN THE WORKS FOR LIKE A MONTH LMAO
ALSO, KEEP IN MIND THIS IS C!WILBUR/SMP!WILBUR
⚠️CUSSING, AFAB READER, PREGNANCY, THIS IS A REALLY LONG ONE SHOT OH MY GOD, PLATONIC FUNDY RELATIONSHIP SO YEAH⚠️
Pronouns: she/her or they/them [you’re referred to as wife, mom,, that stuff, but you can change those if you want]
You hummed as you strained out your clothing beside the river near your home. A smile graced your face, [Eye Colour] eyes glinting happily in the warm sunlight of that fine summer day. Autumn would soon turn the land into a seemingly barren wasteland, though, so you decided to savor every last bit of happiness the hot days brought you.
Hanging the large amount of clothing upon thin clothing lines, you dumped out your bucket and made sure nothing got in the lake. Walking back inside of your home, you set the buckets in the corner of the cozy cottage and walked back outside. Your brown boots thudded quietly against the cobblestone path that lead into the woods around your home that would eventually be covered in snow.
A sudden childish giggle made you turn to the fields that were a ways away from your house, right in front of the sparsely scattered trees to the right of your little house. You furrowed your brows in confusion as a blur of yellow, white, and red rushed over to you.
“Hello there.” You couldn’t help but stare as the child looked up at you silently. “What are you doing here, little one?” He only blushed, his face flushing a vivid red before he ran off. You shrugged and continued your trek into the forest.
//
You watched as flakes of snow fell delicately onto the muted green coloured grass, bundled tightly in a burrito of quilts that you and your mother has made together. You shuffled slightly from your position on your warm bed, closing your eyes as you waited for sleep to consume you.
It seemed life had other plans, though, as a faint light came toward your home, edging closer and closer until you could make out a figure, their clothing a great contrast to the paw snow. They were shivering visibly, clutching their arms as their lantern shook in their hand.
You frowned as you peeled your blankets off of you, pulling your boots on quickly. Grabbing a lantern cage, you lit the candle inside of it and hurried outside, feeling nervous as the figure hurried over to you.
Soon enough, they were standing in front of you, a miserable look on their face, their eyes red and puffy as their teeth chattered together.
“Come inside,” you didn’t care for introductions or your safety. This person seemed nice. “I’ll start a fire. Uh- there should be a few blankets on the sofa. Would you like anything to drink? Warm milk, tea? I’m not gonna offer coffee because it’s late, so I’m sorry about that.”
“Just water, please,” they croaked out. “I’m sorry for the intrusion. I was headed off in search of territory to claim. Turns out I chose the wrong day. God, it’s cold.” You let out a quiet laugh as you carefully tossed some wood into your fireplace, lighting the material on fire. Almost immediately, the flames grew and you sat up, placing your flint and steel on the fireplace mantle.
“I’ll go get you your water. Go warm up.” You urged before you walked into the kitchen to get the brunet some water.
//
““And then Tommy ran off!” Wilbur howled with laughter as he told the story of how he managed to lose his father in the forest close to his family home. ““Phil was looking for us for hours!” You smiled at the story as you carefully sewed up your friend’s heavy coat, making sure the patches were relatively the same colour as the rest of the jacket.
“You never really tell me about your family, so why are you telling stories now?” You commented, threading the needle in your hand through the fabric and back out of it, pulling the thread tightly. You snipped it with your scissors, placing the needle down to look for any other holes as Wilbur flushed a bright red.
“W-well— one day, I want you to meet my family, so- this sounds so fucking stupid. Never mind, forget about it.” He covered his face in his hands as you bummed, picking up a patch and laying it out on the brown fabric.
“What you’re saying is that you would introduce me to your family because you like me that much, huh?” No answer came from Wilbur, though he did let out a flustered groan as you chortled.
//
You placed a kiss upon your new boyfriend’s cheek, causing the brunet to laugh as he shrunk away from your lips
“Stop it,” you only grinned at the man, kissing various areas of his face in retaliation. Wilbur laughed harder, pushing you away gently as his face scrunched. ““It tickles!”
You grabbed his face in your hands and he looked into your eyes for a moment before you began attacking his face with kisses. When you pulled back for a break, Wilbur copied your actions from earlier and rubbed his thumb across your cheeks with a smile. He leaned his forehead on yours and let out a breathy sigh, closing his eyes as he basked in the moment.
“I love you so fucking much, [Y/N].”
//
““Dont be scared, darling,” Wilbur mused as he gently rubbed his thumb in circles on the back of your hand, lightly squeezing every few rotations. “Techno’s made sure to keep any weapons away and Tommy might be a little less wreckless. I’ll make sure to tell them during dinner.” You nodded uncertainly, playing nervously with the bracelet Wilbur had made you way back when the two of you first started as friends.
Wilbur rapped his knuckles on the door, his other hand never once letting go of yours as the two of you waited. A bit of shouting was heard through the door, slightly muffled, though it was evident that it was coming closer.
The door was flung open by a blond boy, his blue eyes shooting us to meet Wil’s not even a second after he opened the door. A grin was on the boys face as he turned and shouted for Phil [who Wilbur had told you was his father]. Soon enough, a blond man with a bucket hat trodden over, frowning at Tommy.
“Listen, motherfucker, you may be living here, but I’m not gonna fucking let you live if you keep fuckin shoutin.” You froze nervously and glanced over at your boyfriend. He just sent a small, awkward smile onto reassure you before he turned to look down at the two.
“Are you really gonna argue in front of my wife?” Wilbur piped in, feeling himself become giddy as Tommy and Phil shot their heads over to look at you.
“You brought a girl over?!” Tommy yelled in surprise as he stumbled back, eyes wide as he observed your movements skeptically.
“Wil? Can you come over here real quick? I just need to talk to you.” Phil forced a smile as he grabbed the taller man’s ear and yoinked him over to a different room, leaving Tommy and you alone.
“Hi,” you smiled nervously, raising a hand in a half assed wave.
“Do you happen to be American?” The blond asked, leaning his face over to stare at you.
“I mean- I’m a water nymph. I don’t really know if that counts because we usually just have different accents, but we never take into account where anyone’s from.” You laughed, scratching your cheek.
“Well where are you from?” Tommy urged, crossing his arms.
“To be specific, I came from the North Sea right by the Netherlands. I don’t really think that’s important though.” You shrugged.
“So you’re Dutch? Speak it.”
“Im not necessarily Dutch, I was just born in the North Sea, Tommy- I think you’re a Tommy. You seem like a Tommy.” You cleared up, ““The only reason I learned English was to communicate with certain humans.”
“Okay.” The boy sighed, shoulders slumping forward as you let out an amused chortle, “I’ll leave you alone. For now.” Tommy backed up, turning into a room while a big, burly pig person ducked under the doorway, a large sword in hand and an uninterested expression on his face. As he turned to the door, he spotted you and his eyes widened momentarily before going back to their half lidded position.
“Who’re you? Phil didn’t- oh. Oh, today was that day. Oh my god, how could I forget it?” The hybrid smacked his forehead harshly, ““I’m so sorry.”
You laughed, waving your hand dismissively as the pig moved to the side to let you in. You carefully stepped into the warm house and the tall hybrid closed the door behind you.
“Dinner’s nearly done, so you can go sit down in the living room. If you need anything, Phil has ears all over the place. Just look at those crows.” Techno motioned over to the few crows that perched themselves on the window, letting out quiet caws. You waved at the birds and they flapped their wings in response.
“They seem nice.”
//
You sat next to your husband, hand intertwined with his as Phil smiled over at the two of you.
“So, anything new happening with you two?” The blond man inquired, placing his hands on the table.
““I mean,” Wilbur laughed, turning over to look at you. “Would you like to tell them, dear?” You nodded, a grin on your face as you sat as straight as you could.
“I’m pregnant,” you said, your voice surprisingly calm. Tommy let out a shocked ‘‘what the fuck??’, while Techno choked on his food, slamming a fist onto his chest.
Phil was quiet, eyes wide in shock as he took in the information.
“Pregnant? With Wilbur’s kid?” You nodded, swinging Wilbur’s hand as Tommy cheered.
“Im gonna be a fuckin uncle! Yeah! I’ll be the best damn uncle ever!” He cackled, leaning back as Techno snorted.
““Can I teach them PvP?” You and your husband glanced over at each other before shaking your head.
“Maybe when they’re old enough to know what they’re doing.”
//
““Hello, my precious baby,” you cooed gently, holding the newborn as they let out a quiet sigh. ““My baby. You look just like your father.” A warm but tired smile was on your face as your baby opened their eyes, brown meeting [Eye Colour].
“Love, is the baby okay? Is she doing alright?” Wilbur called nervously through the door, to which you laughed.
“Yes, they’re doing great,” placing a gentle kiss on the baby’s nose, they brought a hand up and lightly tapped their nose.
//
““Fundy! Come here!” You cheered, reaching your arms out to the toddler. They giggled, waddling over to you. Their scab covered knees were littered with bandages and the red overalls they wore were much unlike what Wilburs would have wanted your child to wear, but it was your kid! They deserved the best!
““My precious baby,” you placed a kiss on their cheek, causing the brown haired child to giggle and wipe the kiss from their cheek. You grinned, littering their face in kisses as they squirmed, ““My little champion!”
“Yah! Cham-champion!” They babbled, bringing up a finger to chew on as you set them down and smoothed out your dress.
““Alright, sweetheart, papa will be here soon, so make sure to tell him what you want to tell him, alright?” Your boy nodded, a goofy grin on his face as he reached over to one of the toys you had brought.
//
You cradled your son’s head as he sobbed, shaking his head in denial as to what had just happened.
“He-he’s gone, mama!” He choked out, wrapping his arms around you tightly. His tears stained your shirt, though the feeling didn’t bother you as you rocked your son back and forth, combing your fingers through his hair.
“Fundy, it’s okay,” you cooed, ““He doesn’t have to live with all the mistakes he made in the past anymore. Who knows, maybe he’ll come back?”
““But what if he doesn’t? That was his last life and- and it’s gone! My dad’s gone!” Letting out a pained wail, he continued to sob. And you let him.
He had gone through so much.

““Who the hell are you and what are you doing around my son?” You sneered, standing in front of your son as the transparent figure stared at you curiously.
“You don’t remember me?” They asked, voice echoing as they tilted your head. “I- [Y/N], it’s me! Your husband! I- I am your husband, right?”
“My husband didn’t push away his son and focus on a failed country more than his own fucking family.” You loaded your crossbow, aiming it at the ghost. ““You didn’t come to his birthday parties, didn’t get him anything, you barely paid attention to him when your country was in the spotlight! You’re no husband to me.”
“Mama-” Fundy gulped nervously, ““Mama, please.”
“You know what, whoever the fuck you are? You’re no damn husband to me and you never will be. Now leave me and my son alone, for fuck’s sake.”
The ghost was silent as you turned, leading the man beside you toward the house at the top of the hill, though a small smile made its way onto his face.
“She’s the one I married?” He murmured, moving his hand to where his heart was, “Was she really the love of my life?”

shadow and bone rewatch s1e6 while drinking mid-range scotch
I wish I have a face that is as unlined and pretty as Ben Barnes' when I'm 39
Arken you dirty dirty liar
the face Alek is making at his lies that he knows are lies firstly because he knows the art of lying so well and also because he can read people very well
okay Ivan is kind of a bad bitch with his smirk at Arken's lies
alek's eyes narrowing and his little smile when Arken says 'im an entertainer' bitch I love this show
*grabs hand, pulls up sleeve, and discovers Arken's hand is full of marks indicating successful passages through the fold* 'well, that is certainly entertaining' I love this man with all my heart
him screaming is so fucking hot, is that weird for me to say
Nina being the Darkling's spy is quite interesting
Ben giving the Darkling crazy eyes when Arken owns up to his guilt is so cool
also wtf is Arken a fool trying to negotiate with possibly the strongest man in the world
kind of loved the darkness literally eating him
also love Alina learning to use her powers better when she is alone than when she is with anyone else, wish we got to see the cut in this season as per the books, ah can't have everything I guess
the camera pan to Jesper's gun at his side, amazing
god Jessie is literally so beautiful I need to see her bring Alina to the peak of her power so bad
netflix you better renew this series to let the plot run to its completion
HOW THE FUCK DID THEY CAST THE CROWS SO PERFECTLY
INEJ FUCKING TREMBLING JUST THE TINIEST BIT AS SHE BOWS SLIGHTLY TO ALINA SGSHSBSJJSJSSJ MY TWO QUEENS
'And where is my Summoner?' my little Darklina heart ouchie I really wish you hadn't used and manipulated her like this Alek it was incredibly fucked up especially considering you actually caught feelings
'Ivan and I won't fail you' oh Fedyor my baby, my angel, you don't deserve what is coming
Helnik literally recreating Titanic lmao stop this is a joke
I too would jump off the raft if I came to consciousness to see a gorgeous woman with magical powers with her hand on my back
omg but why is ryevost so pretty though
'I know exactly how she felt. The King's soldiers treated me the same way... I'm not myself today.' why must you do this to me, why must you fuel my darklina soulmates agenda idiocy
I don't quite think I have a problem with the Zoya Darkling relationship as much as I have a problem with the line they chose to reveal it to use with.
my drink's over and I don't know if I should have another, considering that it's 7 am
the tenderness with which he looks at Zoya and takes her hand and then when he says 'I shall relax when I have Alina' makes me believe more that the man that is reduced to tears time and again in front of Alina could in fact be the master manipulator I know him to be
god I can't wait for Zoya's character arc
'I speak six languages, it's part of my job' why is Nina literally the fucking coolest
Alina blinding the oprichniki was so hot, I can't wait to see more of her power and her ruthlessness
I know I've said it before but good god is Jessie Mei Li gorgeous
HER LITTLE SMILE AMONGST ALL THE PANIC AS SOON AS SHE SEES MAL, THE AUDACITY OF THIS SHOW TO MAKE ME FEEL THIS WAY
THE SCORE COMING IN AT THE RIGHT MOMENT, THEIR HANDS MEETING, HER SMILE AGAIN DHDHSBSNSNSNSNAN IM IN PAIN
REALLY?! YOU'RE GONNA GO DIRECTLY FROM MALINA TO HELNIK WITH NO CONCERN FOR MY HEART?
I simply cannot get over Calahan's accent lmao it's really funny
'im not afraid of you' he says to the insanely gorgeous girl with magic
HIM HANGING HIS HEAD IN DEFEAT TO INDICATE NINA HAS MADE VALID POINTS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I CAN'T BREATHE
'You're just a man. Like all the others.' she says and then forgets her train of thought looking at him as he strips. god I love this
not sleeping all night and then scotch is not a good idea, I think
'I promise not to ravish you' 'I hate the way you talk' her hand on his chest, his hand gripping hers, my fucking heart feels like it's about to explode
good god these shooting locations and sets are so beautiful
Alina throwing the flask at Mal and Mal going 'OI!' I fucking can't, I guess I am a
simp for childhood friends to lovers, give me more of that banter and childhood friend energy, I am thriving
wow it literally seems like they took book! Mal sl*tshaming book! Alina and made show! Alina sl*tshame show! Mal, hmm, interesting
'They would have split us up!' MAL'S LITTLE SMILE AT THIS, and the 'You wrote me letters?' Mal's nod, the Malina yearning stare, the Malina hug, 'thank you for finding me' 'always. I'll always find you.' NO MALINA YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE MADE ME ABSOLUTELY FUCKING FERAL
I understand they had to split time between my ravkan babies and the crows and that is why there were several aspects that were sort of not reflected on enough but Alina's training at the Little Palace, Alina's cut, Mal's personality, a teensy bit of backstory for the crows, maybe one lockpicking scene from my boy Kaz
random note: we have far too many idols and paintings and pictures and whatnot of Hindu deities in our house apart from the specially designed temple (we are Hindus, so maybe it's not that weird but it's a little weird)
Kaz's cane is a literal star, it's so beautiful my heart wants to explode
'Why would Heleen get the Crow Club?' *literally fucking gets up and walks aways instead of answering the fucking question* I LITERALLY CAN'T BREATHE I'M LOSING MY MIND
'I know that voice' WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO MAKE ME FIGHT FOR PLATONIC SHIPS IN FANDOMS
'We won't starve' omg get you someone who packs food for you when you go on the run together hiding from your ex who wants to capture you and use your powers as a weapon against your consent
Mal looking surprised at her summoning sunlight, Alina looking cautiously at him waiting for him to disapprove or run for the hills in fear or smth like that, 'I'm sorry it took me this long to see you... But I see you now' my dumb little shipper trash heart ouch
they really said we're gonna feed you this part asian couple as the protagonists in this show in 2021 and guess what I'm eating it's really tasty I'm very satisfied as a south asian
NINA'S LITTLE SMILE WHEN MATTHIAS WAKES UP WITH HIS ARM AROUND HER
'I can feel how much you hate sleeping next to me' 👀👀👀 BITCH SAID IMMA SPILL THE TEA AND THEN SHE DID
it's 8 am and guess what I'm getting another drink my parents have c*vid and are in govt qu*r*ntine centres there is nobody to supervise or stop me
I too say 'Why do you have to say things like that?' to my pretty crush when she flirts with me
Nina smiling at Matthias bragging about his conservative ways is my aesthetic
'No, it's not natural for someone to be as stupid as he is tall and yet, oh, there you stand.' MY FUCKING QUEEN
Matthias laughing uncontrollably at Nina saying something which isn't even that funny is a whole ass vibe
Kaz Brekker saying 'The Black General' ooh fuck yeah
YESSSS STEP OUT OF THAT CARRIAGE ALL SEXY BLACK GENERAL
isn't alcohol supposed to like kill germs? well, the amount in my system definitely will
I love my crows so much (always but this time particularly for setting that alarm in the stolen carriage)
ooh Polina recognising Inej by the knife yesss let's go writers
this Ivan Jesper showdown is all I needed from life and yet did not know about
Ivan taking off his cloak was, um, sexier than I wanted it to be
I just realised how thirsty I am going to sound in this post
'Has no one told you that keftas are Fabrikator-made and resistant to bullets, hmm?' 'Oh, I do love a challenge' LITERALLY EVERYTHING
im sorry to be pointing out flaws in a perfect show and adaptation but the line delivery on 'You robbed me of my brother, now I'll rob you of your life' from Polina was kind of weak
'You're a-' *gets knocked out with the back of a gun* LMAO we love the hints
got excited at the prospect of kaz v. zoya until I realised they will not be letting the opportunity of kaz v. darkling pass up
my goodness is Amita Suman a splendid actress
I AM NOT KIDDING WHEN I TELL YOU I SQUEALED WHEN I SAW DARKLES EMERGE OUT OF THE SHADOWS IN FRONT OF MY BABY BOY KAZ
THERE BEING ACTUAL FEAR OR ATLEAST DOUBT ON KAZ'S FACE, THE LITTLE BACK STEPS AS
THE DARKLING WALKS TOWARDS HIM, AAAAH I CAN'T
THE DARKLING STOPPING AT KAZ SAYING 'SHE FLED ON HER OWN' AND THE HINT OF TEARS THAT WE SEE IN HIS EYES
'IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR SHE WASN'T INTERESTED IN BEING A CAPTIVE ANYMORE' YOU TELL HIM, KING
*ACTUAL FUCKING TEARS IN THE DARKLING'S EYES AS THE SHADOWS APPROACH*
NOT ME YOWLING LIKE A HYENA THAT THIS CHILD OUTSMARTED THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN EXISTENCE WITH A FAKE MAGIC TRICK
'Are you sure you added enough cloves?' literally warranting a wide ass smile from my queen Alina making my entire fucking day
for some reason, no matter how much I push it from my mind, Ben Barnes dressed up as the Darkling, dancing to 'push it' keeps coming to mind, it's absolutely ridiculous
I got somehow distracted with interviews but good things came out of that as it gave my body the time for the booze to kick in
and I would just like to say that I love Leigh for all she has given me
Alina is so fucking compassionate, I have no much love for her. I can feel her guilt and her sorrow as Mal talks of Mikhail and Dubrov
don't particularly like how the stag plotline is woven in, could have been executed better
'You're afraid you might start to like me?' *flaps furs like a bird's wings in frustration*
'I DO like you' my fucking heart you idiots
the sexual tension is so palpable and the moment is so intimate I simply cannot
OMG SHE FUCKING FELL
that moment where you think he might let her fall despite having read the books and he doesn't and he tells her his name I- <3
YOU DARE TRANSITION FROM A HELNIK SCENE TO A KANEJ SCENE YOU REALLY HAVE NO MERCY FOR MY HEART HUH
people have talked about this endlessly but Freddie's little jaw tic after he says Inej because Inej is wounded and he can't physically bring himself to help her I fucking cannot
THE MUSIC PICKING UP AS KAZ LOOKS TO THE DARKLING'S CARRIAGE I CAN'T WITH THIS SHOW ANYMORE
and now for one of my favorite scenes in television and cinematic history, David Kostyk throwing a book at Jesper Fahey without even knowing who he is merely because he opens the door of his carriage and says hello to him before getting knocked out by Kaz Brekker while trying to run away
Immediately followed by another, the scene with David Kostyk raising his finger to put forward his point in front of the Darkling and the Darkling trying to let him know he doesn't have to before obliging is one of my favourite scenes in the world
also sir please stop being devastatingly attractive in your glorious appearance with your face and your black kefta and cloak because all that comes to mind is Ayesha Erotica's Emo Boy and I'm afraid that is terribly inappropriate.
'No, you look great.' *literally looks down from embarrassment or blushing* MALINA RIGHTS?
THE LOOK ON THE DARKLING'S FACE BEFORE HE SAYS 'NO ORDINARY TRACKER, NO ORDINARY GIRL' BITCH IM OUT OF BREATH
'ORPHANS OF KERAMZIN, REUNITED.' 'ADORABLE.' HE FUCKING SNEERED IRL I FUCKING CANNOT
GOD IT'S SO GOOD

Everyone has that one thing that makes them squeamish or afraid. It’s natural. Ironically Tom, who has played Spiderman for the five years of his life is afraid of spiders. Harry gets spooked with loud unforseen noises, Harrison is afraid of snakes, and Tuwaine is terrified of mirrors in the dark. For Y/N, birds were her greatest fear, so imagine to her surprise when she finds out the boys bought a couple of chickens.
“You what?!” Y/N freaks out after she sees Tom holding a pair of chickens in both hands.
“C’mon love. We ran out of eggs, so instead of going to the store, Predator and Ranger can lay them in the backyard.” He reasons, adorning his boyish smile that he knows Y/N could never resist.
“But live chickens?!” Y/N repeats as she looks at the two clucking and bobbing their heads. She cringes in fear as she sees the chickens make eye contact with her. Her toes curl, and her arms wrap around her own body. “This is probably a bad time to tell you, I have a serious fear with birds.” She confesses through her teeth.
Tom laughs at her response, thinking it was a joke until he saw how Y/N’s face did not change. “Oh my god seriously?! You’re afraid of birds?!” He asked.
Y/N raises her eyesbrows, gesturing as if he should have known that. “Would I be acting like this if I was?”
“But why? I mean look at their cute, wittle faces. How can you be scared of these babies?” Tom responds in his baby voice as he pays his attention to the chickens.
“Look at them!” Y/N squeals. “The eyes. The beak. The claws.”
“Darling, they’re harmless.” Tom responds, stifling a laugh.
“Yeah? Well so are spiders but I don’t see you manning up to them! Plus, did you know chickens are the descendants of T-Rex?” She questioned him as if the viable information would frighten him.
Tom threw his head back, laughing at Y/N’s responses. “Spiders are a different story! You should have seen that tarantula they brought on the press tour. Y/N, chickens wont attack you.”
“Yes they will.”
“No they wont.”
“Yes, they w—”
“Look, why don’t we make a bet.” Tom inquires. “If I can get you to over come your fear of birds and hold Predator or Ranger by the end of Quarantine.... I get to name our first child.” He smiles brightly.
Y/N laughs at his proposal, not believing what he’s offering. “We’re not even engaged yet!” She exclaims. “Let alone, pregnant!!”
“Not yet, you aren’t!” He says excitedly. “But one of these days, I am going to put a ring on that finger and we are going to have beautiful babies. Im just planning ahead!” Y/N gives him a knowing look, which only made Tom shrug his shoulders and sigh in defeat. “But I guess if we’re talking about prizes now...I get to pick the movies for Movie Night for the next year with no complaints, but I still get to name our first child.”
Y/N rolls her eyes, smiling at the thought Tom had put into their future. The fact that he had already planned having her in his future with a kids, made her heart swell even more. “Ok, deal. You got till the end of lockdown.”
As the month passes by, Tom tried his best to slowly introduce the chickens to his girlfriend. His first attempt started with getting Y/N comfortable with a feather. He figured baby steps with introducing a harmless, soft part of a chicken would ease her uneasiness. “See baby, look how soft Ranger’s feather is. It almost tickles.” He tries to tickle her with the feather, but Y/N slowly backed away, cringing in fear. “C’mon darling. It’s just a feather. It’s not going to bite.” He laughs. Y/N shakes away the fear as she holds the feather smiling and admiring the lightness and fluffiness.
“Hey, this isn’t so bad.” She laughs nervously, playing around with the feather. Tom nods, feeling proud of the accomplishment he’s made. Baby steps, he thought to himself, knowing hes this much closer to naming their future child.
Unfortunately, it was short lived when Harrison decided to sneak up on Y/N while she was admiring Ranger’s feather. She squeal and jumped, as she made her way back up to their shared bedroom.
“Way to go Mate.” Tom says sarcastically. “I was this close too.”
“What?! I thought she was joking!” Harrison defended himself, laughing at the fact that Y/N really did have a fear of birds. “C’mon she craves fried chicken almost every day. There’s no way anyone would believe it!”
Tom continued to build up Y/N’s confidence with birds through the lockdown period. He let her watch them from a very safe distance, introduced her to baby chicks, and the more exposure she got, the more Y/N started to relax. But the real test came when a pigeon flew into their house. Will Smith was the name for the newest member of the Holland Home. Y/N and Tom froze when it started to chill in the living room. “It’s okay darling. See he’s just minding his own business. Look.”
Tom gets up and starts filming Will for his insta story, showing him the way out to freedom. He constantly looks back at Y/N to gauge her reaction, and was happy to see her smiling and shaking her head at the ridiculousness of it. After all, when do you ever see your boyfriend escort a pigeon out of the living room during Quarantine Season? “Good work. Love your work. Great form.” Tom encourages Will as he bobs his way out. A slight mishap happens when Will takes flight in the kitchen, which made Y/N squeal, her fear flooding in a tiny bit but not enough to make her run for the hills like last time. As the pigeon flies out to freedom, Tom comes back to the living room. “See a mangy little pigeon was nothing.”
Y/N lets out a slight giggle, as she makes room for her boyfriend. “Yeah...Will Smith wasnt too bad.” She admits. “Though I must say the commentary did help.” Y/N pauses to think for a second. “Actually, I think Im ready to hold Predator or Ranger right now.”
Tom lifts his head up with surprise. “What?! Seriously?!” He asks. Y/N nods at his response. “Only if you want to Y/N. I don’t want to force you to do anything that’s uncomfortable.”
“This...sounds like a totally different conversation right now.” Y/N laughs at her implication of the conversation.
Tom rolls his eyes, looking at her with seriousness. “I mean it Y/N. Don’t force yourself, if you don’t think youre ready to hold them.”
“We can start with petting them, and if I feel really good...I’ll try to hold them.” Y/N plans out as Tom grabs her hand to head her to the chicken’s den.
“Lads..today is a memorable day in history. Thats right, get your cameras out because Y/N is going to touch Predator and Ranger for the very first time.” Tuwaine annouces, cupping his hands around his mouth to make his voice even louder.
Harrison and Harry hold out the two chickens, who calmly lay in their arms. Tom is right beside Y/N, hilding her hand for support. “Are you ready gents?! Y/N pet them chickens!” Tuwaine yells out.
Slowly Y/N approaches the two chickens, letting her hand out. Predator and Ranger cock their heads up as they see the hand coming towards them. They don’t bother to move and remain very still. Once she made contact, Y/N lets out a slight squeal as she rubs down their sides. Realizing they neither jerked or flapped their wings, Y/N had grown more confident with her chicken handling. “Wow..they’re actually not too bad. They’re such cute little things.” She says.
“Do you wanna hold one?” Harry asks as he starts to lend the Predator to Y/N. The moment he’s about to lay Predator on Y/N’s open arms, she starts to flap her wings uncontrollably and make a noise. Ultimately it made Y/N cringe in fear as she ran to the door. “Well at least that she touched them.” Harry encourages Tom.
Tom shrugs his shoulders, as he laughs at the response. “She touched the chicken and that’s all that matters.” Tom thinks for a moment wondering if it counted as an automatic win. “Wait Y/N” he yells running after her. “Does this mean I can name our child Peter Benjamin Holland?”

Here Be Dragons | Bellamy Blake x Male Reader
Tumblr media
Fandom:The 100
Pairing: Bellamy blake x male reader
Summary: M/N tells Bellamy the stories of dragons and what they mean in grounder culture.
A/N: Oh look! An insert that isn’t star wars or marvel, how refreshing ;). I really love Bellamy, not as much these last 2 seasons, but I still love him! So this takes place in a world where the 2nd Praimfaya never happens so...yay no space or Primes also I just watched Game of Thrones so I was like, dragons. I hope you like it and don’t forget to send in some requests :).
Tumblr media
Bellamy walked down the gravel path heading straight for the gates. Some people waved at him and seemed like they wanted to talk but he was on a mission and was not going to stop for anybody. “You off to go see your boyfriend bell?” Anybody but her anyways. Stopping in his place Bellamy turned to look at his sister. Octavia stood there arms crossed with a wicked grin on her face, she knew exactly where her brother was going. Bellamy bit his lip and looked at the ground then back at Octavia,he looked like a kid that had just been caught.
“Actually,I was about to go on a patrol. You know perimeter sweep.” A lie,but he wasn’t about to let his sister know that. “Besides, even if I was going to see (M/N) that’s my business.”
Octavia’s smirk turned into an even wider smile,as she let out a little laugh. “You totally are about to go see (M/N),and it might be your business but if I recall right you never got off Lincoln's case when we first met.” Bellamy pointed a finger at her. “To be fair he kidnapped you.” Octavia’s mouth gaped open. “He did not! He saved me and you know it!” She punched his arm but only in that sibling banter. “Anyways you should go do your “perimeter” check.” Bellamy turned and started walking away when Octavia called out “Make sure to wear protection!” With that, she turned and walked off leaving Bellamy blushing hard and with one question in his head, where DO you find protection in the apocalypse?
                                                . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
(M/N) stood deep enough in the treeline to watch Arkadia from the distance. After everything Skaikru has done he doesn’t trust them,he only trusts the hand full of good people he’s met from there. One of them being Bellamy. Speaking of Bellamy,(M/N) watched as the man in question walked towards the spot they agreed to meet at. (M/N)’s eyes meeting Bellamy’s,the two embraced in a deep hug both having missed each other.
Taking a step back (M/N) took a breath. “I’ve missed you. I’m glad you were able to get away.” Bellamy smile at (M/N). “I told Octavia I was going on a perimeter check, she knows I lied.”  (M/N) let out a small chuckle, turned around and started walking away. “You’re sister is too clever for her own good. Come on,I want to show you something.”
The two of them walked for what seemed like hours, both catching each other up on what’s been going on in their lives. Bellamy realized that they were no longer in Skaikru or Trikru territory and wondered where they were going,Polis was the other direction so they weren’t going there. “So are you going to tell me where we’re going?” (M/N) looked back at Bellamy and smiled “You’ll see it’s a surprise. Don’t worry we’re almost there.” Continuing their way, both men arrived at the mouth of a cave. (M/N) turned to Bellamy once more and held out his hand. “Take my hand and be quiet,We can’t startle it.” Bellamy took (M/N)’s hand. “What do you mean startle it?” “Sssshhhh”.
(M/N) lead Bellamy through the cave. Luckily enough the cave wasn’t that dark thanks to it being pretty much just a tunnel. When they got to the exit of the cave tunnel they discovered a large oasis surrounded by large tall walls of rock,a large waterfall cascading down from one of them. (M/N) crouched down and motioned for Bellamy to do the same,he put his fingers to his lips as a warning to stay quiet and then pointed to something in the oasis. Next to the water asleep was a large animal Bellamy had never seen before, honestly the radiation changed so many animals it probably looked completely different before the bombs dropped. The animal looked to be a large reptile of sorts, with large wings and black scales and long horns. All at once things clicked into place,he’s heard of this type of description before from story books. Bellamy was looking at a dragon.
“We call them Tikol.” (M/N) said in a whisper. “My people say they were unleashed on the world during Praimfaya. This one is small but that’s because it’s still young, when it grows more it will be large enough to block out the sun.” (M/N) looks to Bellamy with a smile. “My people say they are dangerous,I say they’re friendly if you treat them with respect.” With that (M/N) stood up and slowly started walking over to the creature.
“(M/N) what are you doing?” Bellamy quietly shouted. “Come back over here, that thing could be dangerous.”
(M/N) ignored him and continued on. Reaching into his bag he pulled out some meat he had packed away for this. The dragon lifted it’s head as it sensed (M/N) getting closer, looking at him. Extending the hand with the meat out,(M/N) offered it to the dragon. “It’s okay. We’ve done this before...you’ll be okay,I won’t hurt you.” The dragon seemed to relax at this and took the meat,(M/N) placed his hands on the dragons muzzle. He turned back to where Bellamy was still crouching. “It’s okay. You can come here, just do it slowly.”
Bellamy wasn’t exactly sure what was going through his head but soon he was standing and slowly walking towards (M/N) and the dragon. The eyes of the creature seemed to peer into his eyes and he wasn’t sure how to respond to that. Eventually Bellamy was standing next to (M/N) in front of the dragon, honestly he still couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“It’s okay Bell. Here” (M/N) took Bellamy’s hand in his and slowly held it out to the dragon. The creature smelled his hand for a while, but then it leaned its head in so that Bellamy’s hand could hold it’s muzzle. Bellamy let out a breathe he didn’t realize he was holding. “This is incredible...so dragon’s really exist.” He saw that (M/N) was looking at him. “I guess,so im guessing dragons were a big thing on your time in space?” “It was mostly just from stories,no one believed they existed.” “Well now there's a “dragon” in front of you,I named him Cagon. Would you like to go for a ride?” Bellamy’s head quickly turned to (M/N) with wide eyes. “Ride? You mean like on the dragon?” (M/N) shook his head with that bright smile of his. “No I figured we’d ride the tree over there....yes on the dragon!” Before Bellamy could answer,(M/N) pulled him up onto Cagon’s back. Standing Cagon stretched out his wings and started walking, and then running, and then finally they took off.
Bellamy’s eyes were shut,he couldn’t see them being lifted into the air but he could definitely feel it. Opening his eyes,he could see (M/N)’s back in front of him and when he looked to either side he could see Cagon’s wings flapping and below them the ground far below. “Are you doing okay back there Bellamy?” (M/N) shouted over the wind. “I...I’m doing just fine (M/N),maybe we should go back down?!” (M/N) look back at Bellamy and smiled “Oh come on we just got up here, just give it a little more time!”
After the initial fear of being so high up with little to no safety,Bellamy started to relax. The cold wind rushing past his face, the sound of rushing wind roaring in his ears. He felt at peace. Here in the sky there was no fighting,no arguments,no worries,He and (M/N) were alone with each other. Wrapping his arms around (M/N),Bellamy set his head on his lovers shoulder. The other man letting his head fall on bellamy’s,the two men felt the world fall away from them. (M/N) turned his face a little and kissed Bellamy with as much fire as a dragon. It wasn’t too strong or too weak,it was like they were two people ready to face the world and its challenges. Cagon continued to flay off with the two into the far off distance, later they would have to once again separate and return to their clans, but for now they we’re each other’s clan.

Hen, Chick (and Hawk)
A concept sent to @yandere-love-love-love got me started on this fic, and the first thing I’ve written on my new laptop! Still getting used to the keyboard and it sucks! :D Anyhooo, this is written from the pov of the kid, purely because I thought it would be a bit more interesting.
You didn’t like the new apartment.
It was small; your apartment was nicer. It was big. Daddy called it an eyrie. Your room at home was big and soft- it had to be, to accommodate your wings (you were big enough now that you could keep your flapping under control, but it was annoying at home, where the worst meant Mommy and Daddy finding out you lied about brushing your teeth, but here that meant knocking into something, and after a couple of weeks your wings were sore). You didn’t have any toys here either, and that was no fun.
Mama liked it here though, you could tell.
You didn’t get it.
At home, Mama didn’t need to work. She didn’t have to leave. She could play with you all day if she wanted, or lay in bed all day. But now Mama went to work every day and left you with an elderly neighbor named Mrs. Saito. Mrs. Saito was nice, you guessed, but she was old, and didn’t really want to play, or do anything very interesting.
You missed Daddy.
You wanted him here, now. But Mama wouldn’t let call him, or tell you what was going on.
It all got fuzzy when Daddy had to leave town- he said he’d be gone for two weeks, but he’d bring back lots of presents to make up for it. Mama had hugged him tight when he left, and cuddled you when you started siffling. That day, Mama was jittery. She kept disappearing into hers an Daddy’s room. When Daddy called that night, to tell them good night, Mama had picked up and told im about her day, then let you talk to him.
But the moment that you were off the phone, she’d said you were leaving.
And you didn’t have any choice but to go with her.
You slept in the car the first night. Then you walked everywhere. There was a tiny motel room where the water was brown and the sheets had cigarette burns. It took two weeks for Mama to find a job and another month to get the apartment.
“When can we see Daddy?” You whined that night as Mama tucked you into bed.
Mama frowned and looked down at you, carefully tucked away for sleep, your wings folded gingerly.
“We aren’t.” She admitted, and you didn’t understand. Why wouldn’t you go home? Wasn’t this just a vacation?
“B-but I want Daddy!” You whined, your eyes getting hot with unshed tears. Mama sniffled and climbed into bd beside her, pulling you close.
“I know baby, but it’s better this way.”
But you didn’t understand.
So Mama told you a story.
It wasn’t a nice story.
But you never asked when you were going back to Daddy again.
You think about your Dad more than you want to admit.
It’s hard not to think of him, when wings sprout from your back, soft white and itching to fly. But you don’t, because that quirk would be too noticeable.
(Mom paid someone in the Quirk Registration offices to lie- you’ve got a weak quirk on paper, something about sensing changing wind currents. You don’t fly. Your wings are always folded neatly beneath your clothes, feathers plucked as soon as they grow in.
Mom cries every time you do it.
But she doesn’t stop you.)
You look like him too. You hate that.
But Mom doesn’t flinch when you move too quickly (a memory that you recovered when you were ten), or spend a scary amount of time with hat blank-faced stare when you do something that reminds her of him anymore (something that she did but used to hide). So things are okay.
You think about the story.
(The first time she told it, it was the bare bones.
There was a man who fell in love with a very unlucky woman.
He followed her and learned everythig about her; her name, where she lived, what she did, what she wanted.
And he approached her and wooed her and she loved him so much. Everything moved so fast her head spun, but that was alright, she thought, because she loved him.
She married him.
And then things got bad.)
Things are nice now. Normal. You’ve moved out of the dingy apartment and the gross hotel room. Now you live in a nice neighborhood. Mom has friends that she goes out with on Thursday nights. You usually hang out on Sundays- they remind you of when you were little and it was just you and Mom, because Dad-
(Her new husband always wanted to know where she was. He always kept her busy, and soon her other friends faded away. He was angry whenever she suggested going back to work because he could provide- why would she need to work?
She let him isolate and manipulate her until one day she went out without telling him.
For no reason she decided one day that she wanted to go out. If he loved her, she said to herself, he’d understand her need to breathe, to be away from him, just for awhile.
She didn’t do much that day, just walked around. Did some window shopping.
But she never entertained the thought of calling her friends. Or leaving him.
When she came back that evening, he was waiting at the door for her. He dragged her inside and that was the first time he hit her.)
Mom’s gonna be late tonight, so you’re probably just gonna get pizza and do your homework. You’re thinking about calling your friend Chi and bitching over the latest garbage episode of your guys’ least favorite show that you both watch unironically.
You like Chi because his favorite hero wasn’t Hawks. Well, there was more to it than that, but it made your friendship easier, purely because you didn’t have to look at your Dad’s smug PR smile on his merch everywhere when you went to his house. Chi preferred All-Might, something you both had in common.
But the thing is, you feel uneasy.
It’s nothing new, you always feel like that. Anxiety, Mom calls it, looking guilty. So you don’t tell her about it. It’s not her fault that you’re always scared that Dad’s coming, that he’ll find you both. You keep your long nights secret- nights where your breath is shallow and rattles in your throat and you can’t breathe because you’re so sure that he’s outside the window waiting waiting waiting
But you get home without incident. You unlock the door, lock it behind you, change into some sweatpants and text Mom you made it home safely. Then you study- math’s kicking your ass. You learn better by doing, and sitting still has and always will be a nightmare.
Mom says you get that from him.
But she didn’t sound sad when she said it. You’d been in the teacher’s office, again, because you didn’t get it, you got frustrated, so you lashed out. Mom had to leave work. You felt awful. But she didn’t yell at you or anything. She let the teacher talk, agreed you were in the wrong and then you talked about it at home. When you finally told her how hard it was she’d nodded and petted your hair.
“We’ll work on it together.”
And you did.
You learned how to listen, how to pay attention. Little tricks.
You’re not stupid, you just needed extra attention.
(And not because you don’t have a dad, like the PTA mom’s hush-whisper about)
Around 6 you order pizza, checking your phone. Chi hasn’t called you back. Mom’s messaged you to remind you not to stay up too late and that she loves you.
Love you too, ma, you text back.
(After that, her husband didn’t let her leave the house. He kept her locked in the bedroom. Sometimes he drugged her to keep her quiet. He’d come home and fix dinner and bring her out and feed her as if she were some pet.
But now the woman knew what kind of man she’d married. She began to fight him, using the pain to spur her onward.
One night she nearly got away.
But by nearly, she almost made it to the door.
Her husband dragged her back to the bedroom and he hurt her.
-Mom shows you the scars on her back when you’re 10, because you didn’t know how bad it was and you wanted to know.
You traced the scarring carefully, with gentle fingers. You could imagine the feather in Dad’s hand. Brighter red than the blood welling up. He’d taken care that it was scar, would pull if she moved a certain way.
Hawks, the letters said, because she’d never escape being his-
And after that she couldn’t fight him, because then she was going to have a baby.)
You take a break after you order. Your eyes are starting to ache and your hand is cramping. You could call it a night reasonably. Instead you shower and unbind your wings, sighing as you flex them. You’d be lying if you sad that you didn’t worry about what the constant plucking and binding was doing to your wings.
There’s a knock on the door and you scramble to grab your wallet.
“Coming!” You shout, running because, well, pizza.
But when you open the door and standing there, holding the pizza box is your Dad, smiling like nothing is wrong. Like you saw each other this morning, not 6 years ago. Like he isn’t a monster.
“Dad,” you say quietly, gripping the door. His smile is every bit as predatory as his name.
“Hey eyas! Gonna let your old man in?” You notice that his foot is wedged against the door. You couldn’t close it if you wanted. Or, rather, if you had the presence of mind.
But all you can think about are the scars on your Mom and how much he scares her still. What will he do to you?
Dad’s still waiting, and laughs a little, “c’mon kiddo, pizza’s getting cold. We can catch up til your Mom gets home!” There, there’s that darkness that you know is there, never noticed as a kid.
Wordlessly, you step aside and let him in, trying not to tremble.
You know what he is, and you hate him. But that’s still your Dad. And he wants to know all about you.
“You don’t deserve to know me!” You snap, interrupting his steady stream of questions as he goes through your phone. You shove your pizza away and stand up to leave- to run.
But your Dad’s wing flares out, blocking the door and cornering you. Dad just looks up at you without moving his head.
“Kiddo, sit down. We’re gonna have a talk now, okay?”
You know what he can do with those wings. Mom tortures herself and watches his televised fights. There’s a reason that he’s #2. So you sit your ass down. He nudges the pizza towards you again.
“Tell me, why don’t I deserve to know you? Is it because I didn’t find you immediately when your Mom had a moment of insanity and stole you?” You open your mouth, but he keeps talking, eyes flashing. “Do you have any,” he takes a deep breath and tries to lower his voice, “any idea what it was like when I came home and you both were gone? Bags packed, no note, your mom’s ring just there on the counter-!”
“You can’t even tell the truth now, can you!” You demand, because damn the neghbors, hopefully they’ll cal the cops. “You called her nightly to make sure she was where you put her! How long until you rushed home because you knew she’d found a way out, a way to get us out and stay safe-”
“Safe?!” He snarled, “I finally track you down and you’re terrified of me, your wings are- are plucked, living illegally-”
“Mom has a legal job-!”
“Lying to the Quirk Registry Office is a crime, along with kidnappig.”
“You kidnapped her! You isolated her and hurt her and raped-”
His backhand is sharp and snaps your head to the side.
“Don’t you ever say that again.” Hawks voice is dangerously low, and goosebumps break out on your skin. Your cheek hurts- it’s gonna bruise. But you don’t move. “I love your mother, I did everything for her, to keep her safe, and happy. Sometimes people don’t know what they want,” remarkably, he smiles again, and you want to hurl. “She needed me, and she needed a baby- and now she needs to be reminded exactly why you don’t kidnap your child and hide them for 6 years.”
“Dad-”
“Love is a beautiful thing, kiddo,” he cups your hand and curls his wing around you, and you stifle a sob.
You...you have good memories of your Dad.
Memories that you don’t like thinking about, because he’s a monster, good memories of him aren’t fair.
But dad taught you how to groom your wings and held you when you were scared. He took you to the doctor when you got sick and surprised you in the morning with omelettes and cheese because he wanted to show his family that he loved them. When sat on his lap he’d wrap his wings around you and you felt warm and safe and you’re crying now, you can’t help it as he hugs you close and strokes your hair.
“Love is so beautiful, and I can’t let anything ruin that,” he coos, kissing your head.

two if by sea
Just a little something I wrote for my wonderful friend Ghost (@wxnderingstxrs-fr) of our boys, because he keeps having people not write him things when they say they will and it makes me sad because he writes the best stuff. So. Helios and Eleven belong to me, Helios’s boyfriend(s) Tza and Forge belong to him. <3
He wasn’t born for the Sea. Nor was his breed—nowhere in his heritage was there any trace of the Tidelord’s blood, any call to the waves. Not in his Wildclaw father or his Pearlcatcher mother, hailing from the Plague flight and the Wind flight…
And yet, there he sat, his whiskered face to the breeze and his magenta eyes closed serenely. Helios curled his claws into the sand, beaten smooth by the tide. He wasn’t entirely sure how much time had passed—minutes, hours? The sun was behind him; he couldn’t track its progression across the sky, but it had not yet stretched into afternoon. Minutes, then. With a small sigh, he settled down into the sand against his better judgement. It was always a pain in the tail to shake all of it out of his apparel later on (though if he was lucky, apparel would…not be a concern this evening), but it was soft. Welcoming against his scales as he basked in the streaming sunlight.
Tza had gone for a walk on the isle with Eleven, who was all-too excited to show off the improvement of her magic. His adopted daughter had taken a liking to the Coliseum in the wake of the tragedy a few months back, using it to channel her fury until she found herself taking a true liking for combat. While sending her off with Petra for extended periods of time deeply unsettled him, she was always thrilled upon return. Helios had a sneaking suspicion she would end up coercing her father into showing her different applications and techniques. It was likely they wouldn’t return until the sun began its descent toward the horizon, but the Pearlcatcher was content—Eleven was happy, Tza was happy. Camano would be too, if she made it home from the Marketplace before Tza returned home. He was content to wait to spend time with the tiny Skydancer if he knew his daughters were happy.
Just as he laid his head down, intending to shut his eyes and doze off for a bit, a shadow passed over the sun, tinting the insides of his eyelids with a brief flicker of black against the red. The Guard wasn’t active on this side of the territory today, that he knew—no one was supposed to be, anyway. He quietly praised the deities that the shape had been far too large to be Petra, and he hadn’t heard any clumsy flapping. Curious, the Pearlcatcher opened his eyes, just as something large landed with a rustle of feathers in the sand behind him.
Helios whirled around, on his paws in an instant, ears pricked and a warning snarl already curling his lips. Even if there was no threat, whoever this asshole was had disturbed what was looking to be a perfectly good nap—
“Oh.” Helios flattened his ears a bit, straightening up out of his crouch. He blinked bemusedly at the Wildclaw that stood just a few meters away, his single eye wary as he brushed the sand away from his forearms. “Forge. Hey.”
The metalsmith only nodded in response, squinting up at the sun before surveying the horizon. “’S hotter here than I thought it’d be,” he mumbled. “I dunno how you wear all that withou’ melting.”
“Well hell, you want me to take it off?” Helios scoffed at him, sinking back onto his haunches. He hadn’t seen Forge since he left from his extended stay in the Ends with Tza’s clan, helping his mate recover and the clan rebuild itself. He and Tza had visited one another periodically, of course, but the metalsmith seemed to always make himself scarce. Perhaps out of respect. “Hello to you, too. Welcome to the Sea, where it’s hotter than the Ends. Like everywhere else in Sornieth.”
The Wildclaw smiled wryly, and Helios was happy to see that whatever weird little seeds of friendship that had been sown still grew. “Aye, you know what I meant.” He shook himself out a bit, his massive wings ruffling. “Jus’ trying to make conversation.”
Helios shook his head, turning back to face the ocean. He thumped his tail against the space next to him pointedly, an invitation for the other dragon to sit. “How about ya tell me what you’re doing here? Not that I’m not ecstatic to see you, of course.” He widened his eyes and held up a paw, mocking cautiousness.
Forge looked mildly surprised at the question, looking at Helios quizzically as he sprawled out and made himself comfortable. “Tza didn’t tell you? He was s’posed to let you know I was coming t’visit Eleven when I finished up with a set of shelves for Keeper’s supplies…and t’help him fly home and all.” His brows knit in worry. “Save you a trip, aye.”
“Oh.” Helios shrugged, then pointed his head back to face the ocean. “He took off with Eleven a little while ago, only the Tidelord knows what they’re up to. Hooligans.” The Pearlcatcher smiled fondly at the mental image of the pair of Skydancers frolicking together, squawking and chittering like the bizarre little birds they were.
“If you want to go look for them? I can take you. I figured I wouldn’t intrude, she sees me all the time.”
“Nah. The starling needs the time with his daughter. It’ll do ‘im well, I’ll catch up with her later,” Forge replied. He swung his head back to look at Helios. “If that’s, ah…all right with you, I’m content to just. Lay here.”
“You could do that,” Helios mused. “Or, if you wanted, you could try taking a swim. That was Tza’s brilliant idea when he came to the Sea for the first time, it went extremely well.”
Forge coughed out a rough-sounding laugh, and Helios joined in with a quiet snicker. “Yes, swimming with two iron legs. Rust and weight to pull me under. Only thing that’d go better would be throwing a twiggy Skydancer into the water.”
The laughter hung in the air between them for a moment before silence descended. Helios hadn’t realized both of Forge’s legs were prosthetic, and he almost wanted to ask how the Wildclaw lost them. Almost. He knew damn well that was against his better judgement. Can always ask Tza later, I guess.
Had the pair not laid together in mutual silence before, Helios would’ve been shuffling his paws and searching for something, anything, to say to fill the void. The rush of waves on the shore seemed to satisfy Forge; he watched intently with his single eye, glancing back and forth between the surf and the horizon. It was almost funny, to see such a weathered dragon whose scars spoke very clearly about the amount of life he had lived, so full of wonder about some damn water. The shit that Helios annoyedly wrung out of his dress at the end of every day, the shit he had to dive into at his superior’s commands.
And there Forge was, enraptured by the tide’s pull. Helios wanted to comment on it; make a crack about having never seen water before, or a simple question about whether the Wildclaw had seen the Sea from the ground. It just…seemed too peaceful a moment, though. The Pearlcatcher opted, for once, to hold his tongue.
The Wildclaw must’ve read his mind. “Sorry if ‘m quiet,” he said, tracing a single claw in absentminded patterns through the sand. “Never been here before. It’s real pretty. Very, very different from anywhere I’ve lived.”
Helios let out a soft huff of amusement. “Yeah, heh. I was the same way when I came from the Floating Isles, and the Isles literally float above an ocean. I don’t mind the quiet if you don’t?”
“Nope.” His reply was simple, but there was a warmth to it that Helios latched on to. Those nagging feelings of jealousy had long dissipated since they had worked together to help rehabilitate Tza, replaced by a cool acknowledgement of Forge’s importance to the little Skydancer. Maybe even a small liking for the Wildclaw’s honesty and gruffness—both could be refreshing, coming from a clan full of dragons with too many damn feelings. Forge had never been anything but kind to him, after the initial tension of their meeting.
Alas, the peace did not last. Perhaps five minutes had passed before a cry of “INCOMING!!!” shattered the quiet, and something heavy pelted into Helios, knocking him over in the sand.
“’Ey!” he yelped, kicking the Skydancer off of him with a bark of laughter. “Go beat up on someone else for a change, kid!”
Eleven leapt back, avoiding a blow from Helios’s foot, and flashed him a cocky grin. “I warned you and everything, Helios.” As she stepped back, Tza came trotting out of the underbrush, wings tucked close to his back and wearing a sheepish smile.
“I, ah…forgot to mention Forge was comin’,” he said, those cyan eyes of his holding a trace of worry as he met Helios’s gaze. The Pearlcatcher rolled back over and heaved himself to his paws as Eleven threw herself at her Wildclaw father to greet him.
“Don’t you worry about it, little bird,” Helios murmured, bumping his snout against Tza’s cheek. “We’re friends now, remember? I only tried to beat the shit out of him one time.”
“Not funny,” Tza snipped at him, but the small smile on his face spoke otherwise. He rested his head against Helios’s neck for a brief moment before turning away to where Eleven and Forge were standing.
“You traveled safely?” he asked Forge, flicking his tail against the Wildclaw’s shoulder. “Could’a flown faster, with those huge wings of yours, she’s been talkin’ my ear off about seein’ you again—”
“’Course I did.” Forge eyes briefly flicked to Helios, almost a habit now when interacting with Tza, before continuing. “We were jus’ talkin’ about taking a walk, her showing me around the territory a bit…if that’s. Okay?”
The question was aimed more at Helios than Tza, it seemed, but it was Tza who responded. “I’m tired, you two need to see each other. I got her to myself, now you two go. Have fun.” He waved his paws in a shooing motion toward the stretch of beach, and Helios chuckled quietly.
“You’re positive?” Forge began, but Eleven cut him off.
“Dad, he wants to be alone with not-Dad and talk. Probably about you.” She smacked him with her tail, eerily similar to Tza for a moment, before marching off down the beach.
“Eleven, we’ll be talking about how high-maintenance you are,” Helios called after them, smirking at the blush that crossed Tza’s face at the implications of being alone together. Tza’s headfeathers flared indignantly, and he turned to make his way past Helios, back inland and away from the water. He gently brushed against the Pearlcatcher as he went: a suggestion to follow and walk together.
Helios looked on fondly for a moment as Forge padded down the beach with Eleven. A smile had painted itself its way across Forge’s rough-featured face as his daughter gestured and chattered wildly. It was funny, really, how Helios had misjudged the metalsmith’s stone-faced exterior and taken him to be so no-nonsense. He knew firsthand that any mate of Tza’s would feel some degree of ruthless protectiveness over him, warranted or not, but…he suspected there was a soft heart under his scars and prosthesis. Far from the snarling creature Helios anticipated and feared. The Pearlcatcher stood there for a moment, watching down the beach as the pair grew smaller and smaller.
“Hey, you big oaf. You comin’?” Tza asked from behind him, his tone playful and blessedly light.
The Pearlcatcher had grown accustomed to the feeling of his face melting into softness whenever he heard Tza’s voice. It’d been…years, now. That specific sort of softness he was embarrassed of at first, feeling like a sappy hatchling, saved specifically for the little Skydancer that. Well, held his heart.
What he wasn’t accustomed to was his face haven already fallen soft.
Oh, fuck.

She has no throne. Girls without thrones should not have knights, but hers won’t go. Princess Zelda – the girl who killed Calamity – would love to fade into legend, but Link’s bought a house, he’s fighting off monsters, and he’s selling giant horses to strangely familiar Gerudo men. She'll never have any peace now. (ao3)
(chapter one) (chapter two) (chapter three)
They cross a trio of traveling merchants on their way toward Hebra.
There’s an outbreak of fever among the Rito, something Teba wrote Link about, something… strange. A sleeping disease that comes quickly and then smothers the afflicted incrementally, relentlessly, to death over the course of a few weeks. Link sent the message back that they’re coming to help. Fruit purchases would seem secondary, but Teba’s boy, Tulin, likes Lurelin star fruit and Link has a notion of spoiling the kid. So he picks out a dozen, sorting non-bruised specimens from a large saddle-strapped basket.
Zelda watches Link’s process while trying very hard to appear that she’s not watching him because then he might become self-aware of the faces he’s making when he carefully thumbs the skin of an unsatisfactory fruit and puts it back. He kind of wrinkles his nose, looks apologetic, and tried another.
Draga, who is not hiding that he’s watching, says, “Teba is the warrior who fought with Link to subdue Vah Medoh. Correct?”
“Correct.”
“Not the one with the accordion.”
“No, that’s Kass.”
“Kass is the traveling musician?”
“Hence the accordion.”
“Do the Rito know about Link?”
“No. They think he’s a great-great-grandchild of the Champion and Link doesn’t, you know, argue with them.”
“You’re both unbelievable.”
The other two merchants – a spice-trader, and fish-merchant respectively – are eyeing them a little. The larger one, the fishmonger, sits forward on his horse a little bit, squinting as though he just can’t quite get a proper look at the three of them. Zelda isn’t sure, but the fishmonger might be day-drinking if the slack-muscled blinking is any indicator. The spice-trader looks nervous. Like a woman waiting to jump in to break up a fight, like she just knows something is going to go wrong in the next few moments. She’s certain.
And then fishmonger says, “Oi, you’re that fuckin’ guy,” and the spice trader literally starts appealing to the gods.
It takes Link a second to realize he’s being spoken to. He frowns, in the middle of counting out payment, and doesn’t answer.
“Link right?”
Link ignores him.
“Yeah, thought so. Jessie, you shouldn’t sell to ‘im.” The fishmonger hiccups, cheerful in his bearing of bad news. “He’s a demon, ya know. Traded his fuckin’ soul to the Mountain Lord for power.” Another hiccup. “People saw ‘im. Riding the beast of Satori Peak across Hyrule Field. No lie.”
Zelda and Draga exchange a look. It’s not… a surprised look.
Link’s ignoring the man, calmly ties the fruit-bag to Epona’s saddle to evenly distribute the weight. He selects one of the starfruit, however, and careful sinks his teeth into it. That way, it stays in place while he mounts up. Once seated, facing his abuser, Link doesn’t make any move to eat the fruit, just sits there with it in his mouth, staring. The star-fruit is just the right size to make him look a little like a dog with a ball. Fishmonger, too busy expounding on his story, doesn’t notice.
He’s wagging a finger now. “It’s people like you… you are the reason…”
Link reaches up and slowly takes a bite of fruit.
“You are the reason that… this kingdom is going to the dogs. You. People like you.”
Link proceeds to slowly eat the fruit while maintaining the polite, emotionless expression of a person trapped in line with the town’s fanatical but harmless whackjob. Occasionally, he gives a sympathetic nod. Yes. He is a monster/demon/changeling/whatever. A were-creature. A whatcha-ma-call-it. The other merchants look ashamed. Maybe they look a little afraid, but that’s mostly because Draga looks really aggravated mounted up on his giant war horse looking Lynel-sized and murderous in his dark traveling gear and glaring. Eventually, they route the drunk man away, hushing him loudly as they go.
Link wipes his mouth with the back of his hand and waves cheerfully.
“You rode a god?” Draga demands when they’re alone.
Link looks abashed and goes back to eating his fruit, discretely kicking Epona into a trot.
“You’re joking. Tell me you’re joking.”
Draga follows him, sounding a little desperate.
“Link, are you joking?”
Link rides away faster.
“Link!”
Zelda watches them zig-zag up the road like an absurd cat and dog, racing away too quickly for Maru to bother catching up. They’ll circle back after Draga finishes yelling. Knowing that, Zelda takes a moment to enjoy the quiet as the distance grows. Soon, she can’t hear anything but Maru’s hooves on the road. She closes her eyes then, gathering her hair at the back of her neck and turning her face into the sun. For a moment, it’s just that feeling – sunshine on her face and the rhythm of Maru walking down the road. She smiles at little. She smiles a lot. She’s not sure what to do with it – the excess of happiness in that moment so she lets it just breathe.
She feels a tug, just a little, like a thread twined around something somewhere behind her breastbone and running down her right wrist.
When she opens her eyes, Link and Draga have stopped to circle back.
But the sun and the happiness are easy to focus on and she’s looking forward to making fun of them when they get back to her. The point is, she does not think anything of the tug.  Nothing at all.
Serenne Stable is populated primarily by trappers, traveling merchants, Leviathan researchers, and Rito flying in from the north-west part of Hebra. The main room’s crowded. Loud with guests both coming and going. Link is at the front desk smiling at the innkeeper in that way that will probably get them a discount. Zelda would tell him to knock it off, but there’s something kind of fascinating about watching strangers get charmed by a man she sees so often she has no unbiased perspective of him. She and Draga claim a table near the back of the common room and start dumping gear on the floor, glad to be off the road for a moment.
“I can never tell,” Draga says, taking a seat, “which Rito are male or female.”
Which might be a strange break into conversation, except one of the Rito, a red-feathered hunter by the looks of them, is pulling Link aside to speak with him near the front door.
“Can’t help you there,” Zelda says, sitting down across from Draga. “There isn’t much in the way of sexual dimorphism in their race, at least not now. I think in different ethnicities of Rito, there are definite phenotypical signs, but so many of them have inter-married now that’s hardly a reliable checklist to refer to.” A beat of quiet goes on too long as Zelda catches the look Draga’s giving her. “Uh, that is to say… I don’t… I don’t know either.” She coughs. “That one might be male through. He’s kind of… tall?” As though there were not tall female Rito. She bows her head. “I don’t know.”
Draga’s leaning back in his seat, which is putting some real strain on the carpentry.
He’s watching Link, who’s got his hands on his hips, listening to the Rito. The hunter is making a comment, Zelda thinks, about the feather token braided in his hair because they kind of touch it with the edge of one enormous wing, lifting it from where it hangs against his chin. Which means, when they move it, they touch Link’s face. Both Zelda and Draga kind of… tilt their heads concurrently. Link doesn’t seem bothered. Perhaps he knows the hunter. He’s not smiling but doing that calm neutral stare that says, without a single word, I’m listening. You have my attention. The Rito laughs, then kind of bends down to say something, softly enough that Link has to turn his head and let them put the long, wicked curve of their beak near his ear.
“I think,” Draga says, rocking back on the legs of his chair and openly trying to get a better angle. “I think that Rito is preening his hair…”
Zelda snorts.
“Link’s not giving a damn thing away, but I think that’s what’s happening there.”
“Is he getting red?”
“A little.”
“That’s probably what’s happening then.”
“Is that flirting?”
“For Rito? I mean… well, it’s a little more than flirting, I think.”
Link takes a seat at their table a few minutes later. He’s just a little pink, but otherwise calm. He puts a single brass room-key on the table between them – meaning he’s sprung for a party suite and soft beds. Zelda is, very briefly, distracted by the imminent possibility of a bath and extremely soft sheets. Link presently goes about the task of unpacking things from his bag, putting his bow on the table, beginning his routine for weapon repairs with a kind of singular focus. He does not look up at either of them while he does this, though it’s obvious he can feel their expectant gazes against the top of his head. He digs a bag of roasted almonds from his pack and starts eating them. Studiously, even professionally ignoring them.
“Do you know that Rito?” Zelda asks conversationally.
He nods once, curtly.
“Who is… she? He?”
Link eats a handful of almonds and says, through the lot, “He.”
“What did he ask you about?”
Link, swallowing audibly, points at the feather in his hair.
“What about it?”
“It can mean things,” he says ambiguously.
Zelda laughs. “Like what?”
Draga grins, folding his arms. “Did Fyson give you an admiration plume?”
Link stiffens.
Zelda gasps in delight, hands coming together against her lips. “Oh! Oh, did he? Is that what they look like now?” She flaps a hand at Draga when he frowns at her. “No, see, one-hundred years ago a Rito would give a feather on a necklace or something more formal. Is it less formal now? Do they just put it, like, in their head feathers now or…? Oh. That’s sweet. Does it still mean what it used to mean? Because back then it was like this… well, it was kind of a declaration you were interested in them, but it could be just for great admiration or…”
Link rather pointedly flips his cloak’s hood up and pulls it down low over his eyes.
Draga sits forward, boots flat on the floor, still grinning. “Did that Rito come on to you because you have it?”
Link’s turning red now. He just sits there for a moment, turning redder, then, “Maybe.”
“But you turned him down?”
Link yanks his hood off so he can give Draga the full effect of his glare. Draga is entirely unaffected. He’s got his chin propped in his palm now, kind of smiling in self-satisfaction. Zelda has both hands clasped under her chin. Link, seeing this, tosses both hands up and gives them a very clear sign with one finger and starts to go back to weapon repairs. Or, at least, he starts to. But Draga sits forward and reaches over to hook two fingers around the offending braid, lifting it so he can look at it more closely.
Link side-eyes him, but doesn’t move away.
Draga studies the detail work. “You don’t mind it when Rito men give you their attention?”
Link arches a brow. Then, after a moment, with careful enunciation: “No,” he says, “I don’t.”
“Hmm. Discount rooms. Admiration plumes. Zora armor.” He flips the braid with a teasing grin. “Do you get marriage proposals everywhere you go?”
Link stops blushing. Instead, all the blood backs out of his face and he tries, unsuccessfully, to smile.
Zelda’s hands just drop, however, and all traceries of previous delight evaporates.
Draga, sensing he’s made a mistake, immediately sits back. “Sorry. I meant nothing by that.”
Link gives up on the defensive smile and the void left in his expression doesn’t seem to fill. He starts signing.
‘Do you know Zora wedding traditions?’
Zelda translates.
Draga shakes his head. “I don’t.”
’Zora don’t make armor for their betrothed. They usually hand-craft jewelry.’ Link waits for Zelda to finish translating. ‘Zora royalty are expected to lead soldiers in battle, physically, to be on the field. So, Zora princesses craft armor with lightscale for their intended.’ Here Link touches a spot just below his throat, near the dip of his collarbone. ‘Lightscale is here, on a Zora. Only the females. Thin as paper, harder than diamond. A Zora princess can spare the one over her heart and the scale that grows back will be twice as tough, every time.”
“Doesn’t that leave the princess vulnerable for a time?” Draga asks softly.
Link laughs. Once.
“Yes,” he says.
That’s the point, he does not say. That she bares her heart for her people. That she might risk death for them.
Link’s looking very hard at the table in front of him, at his hands resting there among the tools and weapons he’d started to work on. No one says anything for a while. Zelda can’t even remember Link unpacking Mipha’s tunic – feather light scale-mail, so strong it can turn aside any blade, and so obviously a treasure he doesn’t dare wear it openly lest it draw attention. She does know, sometimes, discretely, he wears it under his tunic in place of regular mail. She catches him, sometimes, touching the filigree in the sleeves beneath his shirt, like one counts off beads on a rosary.
Maybe that’s how Draga saw it – caught Link in a thoughtless moment remembering the dead.
He waits until Link’s shoulders relax a little before speaking again, quietly.
“Did you ever get to see the Lightscale Festival?” Draga looks at Link. Gets no response so he elaborates. “The Zora hold the Lightscale Festival every year when the rains come. All Zora come back to the Domain. On the festival day, they send down the river, with their prayers, hand-crafted lanterns made from the shells of ocean creatures. Everyone knows this, because all the rivers in Hyrule carry tens of thousands of lanterns to every corner of the kingdom… and every one of them has her name written inside.” Draga leans forward a little. “I lived in a land where no rivers reach and even I know Princess Mipha was a wonder.”
Link has his eyes closed. His hands are fists on the table top.
“I’m sorry, my friend. I… didn’t make the connection.”
Link tries to say something but can’t get the sound to touch his tongue. His hands don’t move from the table where Zelda can see he’s clenching them so tightly the bones of his knuckles are pushing white beneath the skin. His palms will bleed where his nails dig in. Link finally signs something, but he doesn’t… do it properly. He just slowly spells out the words so he doesn’t need to raise his hands much. Like moving too much will disturb an old wound, like he can go still enough to avoid it.
Zelda translates for him.
“Mipha and I… grew up together.”
“I knew you grew up with the Zora,” Draga murmurs. “I just didn’t assume who specifically.”
The silence goes on long enough (Link struggling visibly to say anything for long enough) that Zelda swallows the terrible heat in her own throat. She moves on reflex, her hand moving to touch Link’s hand, then stops, unsure. But she can’t take it back now, so she lays her fingers carefully over his hand.
“Do you remember,” she asks, “that time Revali and Urbosa were fighting about how to position the Divine Beasts? They fought about it for three days straight.” She swallows, pressing on into his silence. “They just… couldn’t stop fighting. About everything. I thought they were going to kill each other before the Calamity even came. Honestly, it was very disheartening. I…” Zelda doesn’t know how to finish that sentence. She tries a new one. “Do you know that they stopped fighting because of you and Mipha?”
Link finally looks up. Gods, has he always been this blank with grief? Has it always been this obvious? When he’s holding still, no longer moving, was it always this clear? How did she miss it? She grabs his hand with two of hers, holding tight.
“That day you two were sparring and… Anyone could see it – that you’d trained together for years. That you trusted each other. Mipha was the fastest, the deadliest with her Beast but the quickest to… to be gentle when it was right. She was so much… better at everything and I loved her too. Have I ever said that?” She swallows, hard. She’s not allowed to cry this time. “Mipha brought everyone together. Everyone. And I… I am so sorry for…”
Link’s calm buckles.
He grabs her hand too tightly, crushing her fingers in his, but she ignores it. The bone-bruising pressure is a relief, an echo far, far away. Because the pain has snapped to the forefront of Link’s entire being and, for a second, it’s there on his face – twisted up and ugly, a knife wound, a fucking certainty. All the stillness and silence and calm scraped away to the raw face of it – the fact of it: That he is alive and Mipha is dead twice over, her body consigned for 100 years now to the tomb Vah Ruta. Her shade departed. No burial rites in the face of the final battle. Nothing left at all.
Zelda is, she knows, a whole century too late for condolences.
But Draga has no concept of that. He doesn’t live in their distorted timeframe. He just moves forward and places a hand against Link’s shoulder and says:
“I’m sorry she’s gone, Link.”
And it’s so normal of him. Like their just people. Like they’re anyone else.
She thinks, perhaps, they don’t know how to do that anymore.
When the first spasm of weeping hits Link, it’s not actually at the table but in the stairwell as they move their things to their room for the night. He hits the wall like his right knee gave out suddenly and Draga grabs the back of his tunic. He says nothing, just waits. Link recovers. Physically, literally bites it back, keeps hauling his things up the steps and into the hall. Zelda waits. Draga waits. The second spasm hits Link in the door to the suite. Again, he swallows it back. Makes it two steps into the room. The third spasm floors him.
Draga, seemingly prepared for this, lets Zelda pull Link onto the nearest bed while he goes about unpacking food from a rucksack. He ignores Link’s hyperventilating, his shaking, the way he doesn’t seem aware of the tears running from his closed eyes, or how he keeps grinding his teeth instead of sobbing. Draga just kneels in front of him to push things into his hands: A napkin with a piece of gummy cake and canteen of something that smells like honey and turpentine. Link opens his eyes long enough to shake his head, trying to refuse it, but the bigger man just presses both insistently into his lap.
Link hisses, frustrated.
“Just eat it and drink,” Draga says.  “You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to after that. Okay?
Link barely manages it, but he does manage. It’s hard to cry and eat at the same time. Maybe that’s the point. Whatever is in the canteen sends him into a fit of coughing, but by the time he finishes, the hyperventilation is slowing and the uncontrollable shaking smoothing out. Draga takes the empty napkin and the canteen and sits forward enough to – with an inquiring slowness – reach a hand toward Link. When he nods, Draga carefully uses two fingers to turn his face into the lamp light, watching his pupils react to the brightness. Satisfied, he turns the touch into a soft tap against the hero’s chin.
“You’re okay,” he assures them both. “Try to sleep.”
“What was that?” Zelda asks, a little suspiciously.
“Possibly the last Akkala honey-wine in the kingdom, but it seemed like the occasion.” He shrugs. “It’s, uh, strong.” A beat. “In a couple of ways.”
Which is about when Link collapses back on the mattress, body slack, and lies there breathing slowly, like every bone in his body just stopped supporting his weight. Zelda scoots back so she can peer down at him. Draga just stays where he is, kneeling, waiting. Link’s gaze is pale and unfocused, roving the ceiling for a while as the full effect of the drink unfurls warm fingers through his body. He inhales, but it’s shaky. Every breath has a rattle. He wipes his face with one hand.
“You can miss things retroactively,” he says.
That probably shouldn’t break Zelda’s heart. It does though.
Later, lying in bed, Zelda runs her fingers through Link’s hair, not sure if that’s soothing, not sure how to touch him at all. He feels like a river interrupted. He shivers in her arms and its dangerous. Like she could break a circuit inside him and all that terrible agony would jump off his skin and hit her blood like lightning. She holds him anyway. Fully clothed, waiting for the sun to rise, waiting for light to move across the walls, for Link to catch his stuttering breath, for Draga to move from where he’s sitting with his back against the bed, arms folded, also wide-awake and waiting.
“Thank you,” she says much later. After Link’s breathing slows and deepens.
Draga turns his head. “No trouble,” he says in Gerudo.
“I never knew how to talk about her.”
“There is no right way to speak about the dead and no right way to comfort the living. Just make your best guess.”
“She was everything to him.”
“You’re probably right.”
A beat.
“Akkala honey-wine is worth its weight in gold, you know.”
Draga stands up, slowly, stretching when he gets to his feet. “Don’t tell Link. He’ll just feel guilty for not enjoying it.”
“Thank you, though, Draga. Really.”
He turns around to look at her. She can’t move because Link’s sleeping on her arm, his head against her shoulder, one arm around her ribs. They didn’t undress, so they still smell like the road. When she moves her head, she can smell campfire smoke in Link’s hair, the sour aroma of salt and sweat. Their legs are tangled, one of her knees crooked slightly between his legs, his right boot heel hooked behind hers. Draga tilts his head and, for a moment, she can’t read the way he’s looking at them – curled together like cats in a blanket.
Then, very carefully, he moves one hand toward hers, where she’s idly running her fingers through Link’s hair. She stops so Draga can, gently, tuck a section of wheat-gold hair behind the other man’s ear and, for a moment, lay his hand against the top of his head. Then she can read his expression – this formless kind of regret. A mirroring grief that wasn’t there before but she knows instinctively. Zelda isn’t sure what to say or where that’s coming from, what wound or rivaling loss… so she just lays her hand over Draga’s. She threads her fingers through his from the top so her fingernails scrape just slightly at Link’s scalp and they both feel him sigh, deeply, in his sleep.
Draga catches her eyes then, just for a second.
In that second, Zelda becomes aware, suddenly, of her palm pressed against Draga’s knuckles. Of all the bones in her hand, of all the bones in Draga’s hand, of Link’s breath against her collarbone – all three things common as sunlight and boring as bread in any other context but this moment suddenly. Link turns his head a little against her shoulder. She ignores it. She smiles, loops her fingers more firmly though Draga’s and holds his hand tightly – converting the moment into something more recognizable to her.
“Thank you,” she whispers. “I’m glad you’re here.”
Draga gives her a half-smile. “I just wanted a horse, you asshole.”
She has to physically choke back the laugh to keep from waking Link.
  “There’s a wolf following us.”
“Just one?” Link says, not looking.
“Yes,” Draga says slowly, clearly registering Link’s non-concern. “But it’s… big.”
Link cranes his neck to look over his shoulder, twisting in his saddle to see. Zelda looks too and sure enough, there’s a wolf on the road behind them. For a moment, she doesn’t get what Draga means when he says it’s big for a wolf since the average wolf is nearly twice size of a grown man on all fours. But then she realizes that the perspective is tricking her eyes. She thought it was nearer than it is. The wolf is quite a distance back but it just happens to be the size of a pony. It’s loping easily along the edge of the old forest path.
Draga pulls Arbiter’s reins, turning his horse around in the road. The wolf stops. They wait a while. The wolf doesn’t move. Cautiously, they set out again down the road and, in step with them, the wolf breaks into a trot. Like a Hylian Retriever headed for the farm. Draga stops again, this time reaching for his bow.
But Link says, unexpectedly, “Don’t.”
Zelda looks at him. “Link?”
“We’re downwind from it.”
“So?”
“The horses aren’t spooking,” Draga says warily.
Link stares up the road at the wolf, face… interested but blank. Eyes fixed on it in a way she’s not sure she understands. For a moment, she thinks the light in his eyes is animal green, back-lit by fairy luminance, but she can’t be sure. He pulls Epona around to face the beast. The wolf cants its massive head at him. Now that she’s really looking at it, the beast’s fur seems matted. Like it’s got its hackles up or… No. Not that. It’s just… almost maned, like a lion alone the back of his neck and spine. Storm gray, cream under belly and jaws. She can’t quite make it out, but she thinks there’s a marking on its forehead – like a sigil whorled there in ink. Its eyes though – bright almost phosphorescent blue in the dark mask of fur.
“What is it, Link?”
“A god maybe,” he says.
“Of what?” Draga murmurs.
“The forest.” Link hasn’t taken his eyes off it. “Or wolves.”
Draga surreptitiously glances at Zelda. He’s palmed the massive recurve bow from his back, his other hand resting on the quiver at his hip. They’ve traveled together long enough that Zelda knows Gerudo gods don’t walk the roads of their sacred lands in physical forms and, to him, there’s some question in his mind what is divine and what is demonic in this kingdom. She can feel that tang in the air that suggests he’s idly pulling some sorcery to bear – close to his skin, like heat off a stone. Link doesn’t seem to notice – or if he does, he doesn’t care – because he dismounts. Epona seems equally indifferent, lipping his shoulder fondly as he moves toward the wolf.
“Link,” Draga says through his teeth.
When he’s ignored, he looks at Zelda.
“I don’t… think it’s dangerous,” she says. She glances at Draga. “What are you feeling?”
He lowers his voice and in Gerudo, says, “Like it ripped my throat out in a past life.”
Before she can react to that, Link kneels in the middle of the road, one forearm braced against his knee, opposite fist set against the dirt. She can’t hear it, but she’s pretty sure he’s speaking – words low and unfamiliar. The giant wolf tilts its head back and forth, like its listening to whatever he’s saying and, for a moment, Zelda could believe it: a rogue of god wolves hearing a traveler’s prayer on the road, the forest bending inward with every divine lupine breath…
But then the giant wolf kind of bounces on its forelegs. Then it bounds forward in a single terrifying lunge, so fast Link jerks back but not fast enough and – the beast knocks him down and drags a giant tongue from his chin to forehead. Then it barks, panting, and bounds off into the trees, vanishing into the underbrush.
Link sits there, kind of stunned, blinking.
Draga lowers his bow and the air around him seems to cool.
“Mad,” he says, turning his horse around.
Link scrubs his face and turns to look at Zelda. He seems genuinely perplexed.
“You should stop being strange in front of Draga,” Zelda says, ignoring his confusion. “He’ll catch on if you don’t rein it in.”
Link just grins at her.
Maybe Link wasn’t taking the fight seriously. Maybe it’s been a while since he fought a person and not a monster.
Either way, he seems genuinely surprised to find himself flat on his back all the air knocked out of him. For a moment, he just kind of lies there, eagle-spread, looking puzzled. Draga looms overhead. He’s holding that claymore-sized scimitar one-handed. He seems vaguely unimpressed. Link nurses the region just below his sternum where – after blocking a blow like a cannonball – Draga swatted his defense aside and put a back-handed pommel in his gut. He grimaces, struggling to sit up, and Zelda can’t remember the last time she saw anything short of a Lynel put Link in the dirt.
“Focus or I’m going to hurt you,” Draga says.
“I’m not healing either of you,” Zelda shouts from her seat very far away. The horses are penned around the log she’s sitting on, grazing boredly around her. She raises her voice. “This is going to end badly!”
“Don’t worry,” Draga calls. “We’ll be back to Lynel hunting or dragon chasing or army killing or whatever terrible thing you’ve found for us to do.”
“Healing sick Rito children you mean? That?”
Link sits up, warily.
Draga smirks at him. “You best just use whatever magic you have, Hero. I plan to do some cheating of my own.” A beat. “I didn’t hit you that hard.”
Link climbs back to his feet, wrinkling his nose at his opponent.
“Forgot how to lose?” Draga asks, squaring up casually. “Or does that sword do all the work?”
Link hefts his sword a little and rolls his shoulder. He eyes Draga sidelong as he a takes up defensive stance across from him. They’re not using shields which Zelda thinks might be more to Draga’s advantage than Link’s – the man with double his reach, height, and body weight. But then again, Link’s never up to size against any opponent. It also rarely makes a difference against Link’s inhuman precognition and speed. And, more to the point, Link has that blade in hand and there’s nothing in the universe that stops him, truly, when it’s awake.
“Ready?” Draga says, the scimitar up, angled slightly between them.
Link exhales, then nods.
It’s instant. Draga darts across the space between them so fast Link only just manages the footwork to block. Zelda’s palms itch. She rubs them together as Draga slams Link’s sword aside in a series of deadly rapid swings, each one hitting with such force that the third blow throws Link staggering. Draga’s fast despite his size. He’s immediately in Link’s guard for the follow through, slashing at his open flank. Link has to dive-roll to the right, scramble back then somersault away from a two-handed downswing.
Draga’s sword slams into the ground like a pickaxe. Link lands cat-like then lunges. Draga’s wide open, fully committed to his previous swing and – Wrong. Draga pivots, raking the ground with his free hand and flings gravel directly into Link’s face. He flinches. Draga puts a boot in his chest and hits Link so hard he skids in the dirt for three meters before rolling back on his feet. He looks shocked. He coughs, grips his ribs with one hand, blade up with the other.
Draga inspects a long tear in his shirt, a shallow cut in his light mail from his hip to his shoulder – a defensive swing, struck before he could kick Link out of range. Draga eyes him, clearly deciding on another attack. But Link’s giving him a look: confused, almost hurt, blue-eyed and just on the edge of anger. He wipes the dirt from his face, pointedly.
“This isn’t tournament rules,” Draga says, a little exasperated. “Cheat back, hero.”
Link tilts his head. There’s something a little… predatory about how he does that. He rotates the sword in his hand a little… then grips the hilt, hard, like he hadn’t had a proper hold before and Zelda feels the change, a focus running from the blade to his palm to his boots and rooting him in some previously untapped current in the earth. Grounding him. The hair rises along her arms and she sits forward, frowning. Link squares up again. Draga does too, slowly. He can smell the change the same as she can but she can tell it interests him. She can feel that… shapeless density Draga has coming to bear somehow. Like extra gravity, like the world pulls in more tightly around him and he brings his blade to bear.
Zelda shivers. Digs her nails into the mossy wood beneath her.
“Ready?”
Link nods.
Zelda catches the spilt-second grit in the dirt when they both leap forward, where their boots push off the earth – then the deafening explosion when Draga’s sword connects with the divine blade and explodes. Not snaps. Explodes. Like a black-powder charge detonating between them. Draga hits the ground on his back, snarling, armor smoking. The tang of metal and defensive magic – thick, almost sickly sweet, and likely the only reason Draga’s head is still attached. The remains of the scimitar rain down in brittle pieces, the hilt landing somewhere in the woods.
Zelda’s on her feet immediately. “Draga!”
Link lands in a crouch. She’s never seen that expression before – that razor-thin edge of grief and shock where she can see him replaying the thousand alternate universes where his friend is dead by his hand.
He throws the Master Sword down and dashes forward. Zelda is already on her knees beside Draga who’s levered himself up into a sitting position, grimacing as he inspects his sword arm. There’s blood. A lot of blood. The entire limb shakes either from the pain or struck tendon. There’s a gash in his palm and his fingers, like the hilt of his own sword turned against him and cleaved through his glove into his hand. Bone glints in the red pulse of blood and Link stares at the wound, speechless. He tries to say something, but the syllables stick so violently they almost manifest a stutter.
Draga shakes his head. “No. I goaded you into it. It’s not your fault.”
“You’re an idiot,” Zelda snaps at him, heat gathering in her palms. She does not look away from her work, one hand holding his wrist, the other cupping the back of his knuckles. Her fingers start to glow internally. “He broke your wrist and most of the bones in your hand and you’re lucky that’s all it did. You knew what the blade was. Why on earth did you try this?”
He shrugs. “Wanted to see what the Lynel felt like.”
“The Lynel felt dead, Draga.”
“Well, I don’t. So, all’s well, princess.”
“Do not ‘princess’ me while I’m gluing your arm back together.”
He nods, almost thoughtful. “Can I tell you two something?”
Link makes an exasperated noise of assent.
“What?” she grouses, eyes fixated on the knitting skin beneath her fingers.
“I think, if I’d managed my focus a little better… I’d have had that exchange.”
Zelda looks at him. She’s not sure what his face is telling her when she studies him for any sign he’s joking, that he’s serious about defending against the blade that seals evil when Link’s holding it with any real intention. He seems calm, polite. She doesn’t think he’s unrealistic about things and that concerns her – his sincerity that he can beat Link. That he’d like to. She feels a shiver climb her spine, a cold crawl in her body. What? For gods’ sake it’s just Draga. Link’s hovering anxiously behind her, watching her undo the damage – the familiar recapturing of stray blood and the atomic stitching of muscle and skin. She erases any sign that there was a fight between them.
“There,” Draga says, showing Link. “No harm done and nothing a couple fairy tonics couldn’t undo, even if Zelda didn’t loan us her expertise.”
She feels Link start to smile without looking, a quiet glow of relief.
“You’re not immortal,” she says. “Being brave or reckless doesn’t make you immortal.”
Draga, flexing his hand, looks sharply at her. Link too, because he recognizes the words and the tone. Zelda looks over her shoulder at him, glaring.
“You know better,” she says.
“Zelda…” Link starts to say, but she’s already on her feet and walking off.
“Don’t fight again!” she says, loudly.
She can’t explain her panic, the cold rise of hair and gooseflesh, the heat behind her eyes, her mouth bone dry. She can feel them staring after her, confused. Good. They will think she’s just mad at them for injuring themselves, upset generally at their recklessness, their bloody-mindedness – the usual sensible reasons for being mad and not this… instinctive terror. A terrible de-ja-vu. It’s in the roots of her teeth, in her palms, the marrow of her bones. She stays away from camp until her hands stop shaking.
When she comes back, Link and Draga are seated cross-legged facing one another in the grass.
Link is signing, ‘I love pie.’
Which seems odd until Draga awkwardly mirrors Link’s hand-motions and says, “That seems lengthy for a hello.”
Link maintains his cool. “No. It means ‘hello’.”
Draga signs, ‘I love pie.’
Link smiles.
“Like that?” Draga says, suspicious.
“Yes.”
And suddenly, Zelda is less anxious than she was before.

PW: First Encounters of the Valto Kind
Phantomwing shenanigans. Jokan leaves his young daughter, Torvi, in the care of her uncle, Malaanskar for a short while, but a certain visitor makes everything go a little sour.
AKA: Kid Torvi is a bundle of office-wrecking chaos and Valto is a huge asshole. Also lame title because I’m half-dead here trying to also write my prelim exam so I can actually be a PhD candidate.
“I’m busy.”
“Please. It’s exam week, and I can’t leave her alone. Not after what happened with the oven. It’ll only be for a couple hours.”
There was silence from the mass of muscle and feathers and stately stoicness on the other side of the office.
“Just a couple of hours, no longer,” Jokan repeated, almost pleading at this point.
Eventually, Malaanskar sighed, ruffling his feather crest and running a hand down his face. Claws framed the scar across his bow and nose bridge, and Jokan grit his teeth at the sight, remembering just how he’d gotten that particular trophy.
“Right. Fine,” the Stormwatch captain rumbled, shaking his head. “I’ll watch her for you.”
“Thank you-”
“You tell her to be on her best behavior, Torvalkaalos,” he continued, lips curling back slightly over an imposing set of fangs. “She’s not only your daughter, but my niece as well, and I won’t have her soiling what I’ve built, here, with her antics.”
“Understood, sir,” Jokan mumbled, nodding. “She won’t be a problem.”
“I hope so.”
***
She was a problem. A four-year-old problem shedding feathers everywhere as she climbed and hopped and flapped around Malaanskar’s office.
He checked his desk clock.
Visskhet…
It had only been half an hour.
“Mal! Uncle Mal, look at meeeee!”
The scraping of claws on wood brought his gaze up to the series of shelves to his left. Plaques and mounted medals and trinkets from all over decorated them and, in the center of one shelf, perched between an ornate trophy of crystal and a sculpture welded together from the scrapped metal of a hunting rifle, perched his niece, oversized wings and gangly limbs poised for flight.
“Don’t do it,” he warned, feathers flaring. Torvi grinned.
“Dad said I gotta practice!” He flinched as she snapped open her wings, nearly knocking over everything on the shelf with her. “Watch me! I’m gettin’ pretty good, I think!”
“No, don’t-”
“HERE I GO!”
“NO!”
She launched herself up, wings driving down into the shelf.
The force of her take-off ripped the shelf from the wall.
Objects fell.
Torvi’s upstroke crashed into another shelf, sending everything on them flying as well.
A cacophony of noise followed - screeching, shattering, clattering.
Malaanskar jumped from his perch, hissing.
As the proverbial dust cleared, he saw Torvi sprawled half on her back, legs and tail propped up on the wall, the remains of his work spoils scattered around her.
“Oops,” she said, rolling over and hopping to her feet. “Welp, gotta try again!”
She shook bits of crystal from her feathers before flapping over to the file cabinet and starting to climb up.
Malaanskar lung-snarled, the sound shaking the windows and sending Torvi back to the floor, hands over her ears.
“TORVIHARI!” he roared, slamming a hand on his desk hard enough to rattle his bones. “ENOUGH!”
She cowered, hissing back up at him.
“Shutupshutup! Too loud!”
He regarded her for a moment, quieting as he saw several scrapes and cuts on her arms and wing-shoulders.
Cleaning the floor and gluing his trophies back together would have to wait.
Nudging his head toward the perch in the far corner, he sighed.
“Wait over there. I’ll get the first aid kit.”
Nodding, she scuttled over to the perch, climbing up and curling her wings and tail around herself. Satisfied, Malaanskar made for the exit, looking back at her before letting the curtain fall behind him.
“No more flying indoors, alright? Once I get you patched up, we’ll go out onto the runway and you can flail around out there.”
She nodded again, ears perking back up slightly.
“Right. I’ll be back.”
And then he was airborne, making a beeline for the infirmary, head throbbing.
How Jokan even survived raising that bundle of chaos was far, far beyond him.
***
Torvi picked idly at her scrapes, starting to feel the sting of them. Looking at her handiwork on the opposite wall of the office, she stuck out her tongue and laughed.
It looked better that way, she thought. More natural, less…stuffy.
Yes, it had earned her an ear-stinging roar from Uncle Mal, but the promise of a more open place to practice flying made things better.
Maybe she’d actually get more than three feet off the ground this time.
Hearing claws impact the stoop outside, she perked up, hopping in place on her perch. Uncle Mal was back, no doubt.
However, the Tyrkovan that pushed past the curtain was not Uncle Mal.
He looked a bit like him, though.
Same markings, similar build.
His eyes, though, made her shiver, made her want to hide.
Uncle Mal had bright yellow eyes, like Dad. This guy had...gross grayish eyes. Like herself. And they weren’t stern and stony like Uncle Mal’s or smart like Dad’s.
They were slimy. Cold. Unnerving as they scanned the overturned office.
“Hmm,” the new guy hummed, nearly gliding over to the mess and kicking some of it with his feet. Torvi didn’t like his voice, either. It was just as slimy as his eyes were. “Maybe this’ll knock ‘ol’ Lightkin’s’ ego down a few notches. All his pretty little things, scattered, broken...it’s beautiful.”
Then, he turned around, and Torvi hissed, wrapping herself in her wings. He was looking right at her, face blank like...like...like one of those painted Human masks.
Blank, dead-looking masks attached to wigs of stringy stuff that didn’t move like feathers did, worn by reenactors at the history festivals Jokan had taken her to. She’d cried when she’d first saw them, to her embarrassment, and Jokan had held her and assured her that they were fake.
‘Resin and faux hair, Torvi. A dead facsimile - nothing to be scared of. Nothing like the real thing.’
This slimy Tyrkovan’s face was like those masks, though it was real. Alive.
And Jokan wasn’t here.
“Well, well. What do we have here?” He approached, staring down at her, and she bared her teeth. “Are you the troublemaker that caused all this commotion and destruction?” He smiled, and it barely even started to reach his eyes. “Well done. Wish I could’ve seen it.”
She said nothing, still baring her teeth.
“I have no manners,” the new guy chuckled, wings outstretched slightly, boxing her in. “My name is Valto. That’s Ariitaalos Valto.”
Ariitaalos - that was Uncle Mal’s flight-name.
“Seems my dear brother caught himself a fledgeling for a few hours-ah, wait. You’re Jokan’s little tail-dragger, aren’t you?”
A hand shot out, snatching her from her perch and hoisting her upright by her scraped wing-shoulder. Valto stood her in front of him, his eyes seeming to drill into her as she struggled out of his grip, hissing in pain.
“Let’s see. Strong shoulders, deep chest, sharp reflexes - yes, you’d make a passable Verkorant for sure, should that stunted, pontificating, past-worshipper realize that he has no rights to raise you-GAH!”
Valto hopped back, a scrape on his shin leaking blood.
“YOU SHUT UP ABOUT MY DAD!” Torvi screeched, scrambling back onto her perch, foot talons stinging from the kick. Using the perch for some extra height, she flared every last feather on her person and snapped her wings out to their full span. “YOU...YOU SHUT UP AND EAT DIRT YOU GROSS-EYED FREAK-!!!”
The next thing she knew, she was batted sidelong into the wall by a massive wing, talons pinning her to the floor.
Valto leaned over her, face still horribly blank.
“I didn’t say anything about your father, Torvi. Nothing but his name.”
Torvi scratched at his ankle, hissing and spitting.
“Yeah you did! You called him a stunted, pontiff...pontificat...WHATEVER! GET OFF OF ME!!!!”
Some kind of sour look crossed Valto’s face, his pupils pinning a moment before it all ironed out again into that expressionless mask.
“Figures you’d be as myopic as that superstitious short-wing. Ignorance like that is infectious.”
Whatever he was about to say next, however, was interrupted by more claws on the stoop and the rustle of the curtain.
“Torvi, I hope you haven’t knocked anything else over- YOU.”
Valto cast a glance over his shoulder, removing his foot from Torvi’s chest and taking a step back.
“Ah! Brother. So good to see you aga-”
“Get out.”
Uncle Mal’s voice was steelier than usual, cold and hard and sharp. Torvi could practically taste the raw dislike laced in it.
“But I was just having a pleasant conversation with my-”
“GET OUT.”
A hand seized Valto’s feather crest, and he was pulled back with a loud squawk. Torvi rolled over and sat up quickly enough to see Uncle Mal practically tossing Valto out the exit, wiping his hands on his uniform after doing so.
That done, he pulled down the metal curtain, locking it at the bottom and snarling through the message hole for good measure.
“Did he hurt you?” he asked, voice now urgent. When Torvi didn’t answer immediately, he hustled over to her and easily lifted her back onto her perch, face even with hers. “Tell me. What did he do? What did he say?”
“He just said some mean things about Dad, that’s all,” Torvi finally mumbled, shrugging. “I don’t like him.”
“Good,” Uncle Mal sighed, ruffled feathers smoothing out slightly. He took a moment to retrieve the first aid kit and began to clean Torvi’s scrapes and cuts. “Listen to me, Torvi. If Valto comes near you again, don’t be afraid to fight him off. Don’t be afraid to fly away. And for Avar’s sake, don’t listen to anything he spews from his maw, do you understand?”
Torvi nodded, puffing her chest out.
“Got it. Hey, I kicked ‘im in the shin!” She chirped proudly. “See?” Grinning, she held up her foot, claws still flecked with a bit of blood.
She’d never seen Uncle Mal smile before. And, as slight as it was, his eyes crinkled at the edges.
“That’s the spirit.”
He continued to clean her wounds, having to bandage a decently deep one on her shoulder. As he reorganized the first aid kit, she hopped down from the perch and flapped her wings expectantly. “Are we going to the runway now? Can I practice flying?!?”
Uncle Mal clicked his teeth together as he shut the kit.
“Hmm...no.” He held up a hand to stop the whine that almost made it out of her throat. “We’re going to the gym, and I’m going to teach you a bit about self-defense.”
Torvi’s jaw dropped.
“Wait, does that mean I get to kick and punch things?!?”
“In a sense...it’s more about not getting punched and kicked yourself, but in a sense…”
“YES!”
“NO, TORVI DON’T TRY TO FLY IN HERE AGAIN!!!”

Mass AU Starter List
You can find explanations to all of the AUs here. If you reblog this, mention which AU you’re pulling from, if you want it to be in a new thread, msg me, moving on. The Soulmate Dimension is not included because that world is only open to ships with chemistry, and must be plotted ahead of time.
Extra Warning: Some of these control other characters, so if your character/muse is mentioned in a given drabble, we can IM about it and change the scenario, or you can take them over after the starter’s ‘completion’. I apologize to anyone I annoy.
ORIGINAL DIMENSION- (OD)
Tempest placed a small necklace down on the counter, doling out about ten rings to the cashier. They nodded, smiled, and gave the woman her necklace. Tempest left, hearing a ‘have a good day, kid!’ following behind her. She just barely bit back a low groan of annoyance. It didn’t matter how many years passed, being called a child when you’re physically twenty is grating. Being mentally about thirty-nine and hearing that?... Yeah, it’s just thoroughly old by then.
CONTROL DIMENSION- (CD)
Tempest growled, clutching her head as the grass swirled beneath her. Stars and galaxies burned like fire behind her eyes, bones flapping to keep her afloat. She could feel the very essence of her soul that was poured into the invisible ligaments between each bone, creating her horrid wings. Tempest gathered all of her power, feeling Mephiles advance within the battlefield of their brain. She pushed with all her might, falling to the ground with a limp THUD. Thank goodness for her crystalline skin... But that landing still hurt... Her wings flicked weakly.
“... I hate... You- oh, you’re just saying that, dear...- Get... Out...- Not until I have what I want~..-...Screw off, Mephs…”
Digital Escape Dimension- (DED)
“Everyone always speaks of what it would be like to be a god, controller of reality..” A few million games were tossed to the left. Her visitor was due any minute, but Tempest could barely bring herself to care. Visitors had been scarce. Who in their right mind would want to meet the woman who lay comatose on a lab table, plugged into an endless game system? “... But really, it’s heaven and hell all at once.” She pulled forth a game, looking over its title. The world loaded around her as Tempest touched her feet down on the shore. A new outfit coated her without a moment’s hesitation as she turned to her right.
Subnautica’s alien base lay before her, barren and waiting.
“... The only thing that makes it better is when others visit... But how often is that, truly? Once in a year? A decade?... Never?....” Tempest trailed off as she began walking. Curse Mephiles, curse his poison, curse her body for falling to it... One day, if Tails plugged in, she’d thank him for giving her this escape.. Then she’d cry. When was the last time she’d been visited?... Who knew... Time was immeasurable in the digital landscape.
Royalty Dimension- (RD)
Tempest held her sword at her side, facing the king of another nation. Another negotiation, another day.
“You do not dress like most princesses, princess Lock.” The woman grit her teeth, facing the man who was easily a hulking giant.
“... You’d do your best not to cross me, nor my kingdom, King Eggman.”
Rockstar Dimension- (RSD)
“Ohmygosh, Toxin is performing tonight!” A fangirl squealed, ripping a poster off of its post. Tempest easily hid a sigh as she took a sip of her energy drink. Of course, fans would be fans. Didn’t mean she wouldn’t try to get away from them, all the time. On the bright side, no one recognized her without her signature smoky purple sunglasses and glittering t-shirt. Dressed in a plain tank top and pants, she looked like anyone else...
“I NEED THE ALBUM!” A boy yelled from nearby. Tempest found herself rolling her eyes. The album would be released that night, yes.. She’d get a few more in millions, but gosh.. Hearing it always annoyed her. Everyone only loved her for the fame, for the money. To them, she was a ticket to the highlife. It made her hate them all... Save the particular few who even knew who she was... Which was her private staff. No one else, not even her parents.
Deities Dimension- (DD)
The star swirled with energy as Tempest brought it inwards on itself, collapsing all it had been into nothingness. The black hole created sucked up planets and fellow stars alike, destroying a countless set of useless tries. Tempest despised being so small, so unworthy like the major deities.. But she did love her black holes... And caring for those who prayed for her aid.
It was not often she found one worthy of her aid.. But when she did, they found themselves within the realm of fortune and peace, whenever she approved it. But her wrath... It left nothing, not the smallest iota, that one had been good. Praying to her was often a misery, for many found themselves attacked by misfortune and pains that would never relax... Not until they showed a purer heart than their initial soul.
Tempest sighed. It had been generations since anyone prayed to her.. Being a minor deity (and so fickle), she had few followers who cared for her. Her temples all fell to ruin, but she couldn’t blame her charges. She truly was a small speck against the other deities- so powerful and majestic, less fickle than she... But, such was eternity.
Hope you had fun reading them all- and I hope you enjoy if you choose to interact with any of my crazy children. Love ya’ll, have a good remainder of your waking hours!

Silver Silence Part 9
Pairing: Bucky x shy enhanced reader
Summary: Bucky finally finds himself able to live at the compound with the team, but finds it difficult to repress his feelings for his new very shy and gentle teammate.
Word count: 2,044
Warnings: Swearing as always
NOTES: feedback is really appreciated, sorry it took a while and sorry it’s a lot of information.
“Miss (y/n), Mr. stark requests your presence in the conference room immediately.”
A voice jerked you out of a blissful slumber, one filled with fantasies of how tonight’s date would go with Bucky. You groaned and rolled over, peering at the red screaming numbers of the clock.
7:13 am
“Tell him I’m on my way.” You mumbled back to the AI, luckily though he caught it and left you at peace. Your voice sounded slightly scratchy and robotic, as if static was clouding the used to be clear audio that was your man made voice.
You lazily stumbled out of bed, throwing on the nearest clean- or semi clean- shirt and pants and made your way down to the conference room.
When you arrived, all the avengers stood like a pack of wolves around a table, pointing angrily at different areas on an electronic map. It wasn’t long until tony noticed you, and spoke up, earning the attention of all other heroes. “Morning sleeping beauty.”
“Good morning.” You replied, but your voice had gone almost completely robotic, causing your hand to shoot up to your throat in worry. Everyone’s eyes were wide and concerned; all except Tony’s who simply smirked.
“Ah, I was afraid this would happen.” He pulled a small box, almost resembling an altiode tin out of his pocket and opened it, taking out a small chip. “Not to worry, iv thought of everything, as usual.”
He walked up to you and without warning, turned your head, moved your hair, and plunged the small square behind your ear.
“I created this little port back here for upgrades, that way surgery isn’t always necessary.”
He stepped back and motioned you to try it out.
“Thanks tony.” You tried, and it was clear, yet it seemed all eyes were still wide on you. “What?” you asked.
And that’s when you heard it, it wasn’t your voice, it was Tony’s, clear as day.
“Please don’t tell me this was your intention, when you said you updated her software.” Steve mumbled.
“Tony! What happened, did you give me your voice!” you shrieked.
“Calm down, calm down. No, although I’m sure you’d love that.” He hurriedly tried to explain. “Think of someone else; think of their voice, their tone.”
“What do you mean think of someone else?!” you yelled in frustration, and your sure if anyone closed their eyes they would think tony was having an argument with himself. “Why?!”
“Think of someone else, someone’s voice, just try it.” He pleaded.
You furrowed your brows but then began thinking of the first person that popped into your head. Unfortunately between your worry and anger that person was still Tony, and you had to force your mind to navigate to another individual.
Your mind went straight to Bucky, you wanted to pretend it was because he was staring at you from across the room, eyes turned in concern, but you knew it was because he was always on your mind.
He was like malice on cheap wallpaper, he was always there and his presence, his thought, his being clung to your mind. You concentrated on his voice, its low hum, its warm vibrancy, and you found yourself captivated.
You mumbled and stuttered until actual words formed, and luckily not a robotic, or stark tone.
“I swear to god if you don’t fix this-“you stopped abruptly. Your voice, it was exactly how you imagined it. It was Bucky’s voice, crystal clear, so much so that a few members of the team looked back at Bucky to be sure he hadn’t said anything. His eyes were wide and his face was drawn into an almost awe struck expression
“There you go!” tony cheered.
“Now what! I want to sound like me!”  The tone of your voice was still low, and you had to remind yourself that Bucky wasn’t actually saying anything.
“Just think about your normal voice it’s not that hard.”
You huffed and forced your thoughts on your own voice.
"why did you make it this way in the first place.” You questioned, surprised to find your voice in its normal tone.
“You lost your powers.” He sighed, and then quickly continued as your eyes narrowed. “- which was a good thing for your health and all, but it made you pretty useless on the field.”
“I was never on the field anyway.”
“Yeah, yeah I know, but I had always planned you to be, you’re a smart kid, I want you to be with us out there.” He paused and fished a small remote device out of his pocket, “here, this will hopefully help with all the controls, the thinking part is more of a last result.”
You took the remote from his hands, and peered down at the light up touch screen.
“What could I even do with this on the field?”
“Your new vocal cords allow you to copy anyone’s voice that you hear. This will be perfect paired with a little hand to hand combat training from Natasha.” He glanced at the red head, who glared at him, then back to you with a smirk. “you can talk to an opponent, get his vocal frequency, take him out, then easily talk through his comms.”
He looked damn proud of himself, only causing Steve’s annoyed expression to deepen.
“and what if that ‘opponent’ is speaking a different language.” Steve interjected.
“Oh!” he grabbed the device from your hands, and fiddled around with it after typing in four different security codes. “There, speak.”
You felt like a dog but did anyway.
“Jo të bisedoni me mua si im një qen.” You covered a hand over your mouth.  (“dont talk to me like a dog”)
“Kjo eshre ajo qe gjuha!?” (what language is that?!)
you where sure that no one could understand you, so its not as if questions was effective, that is until tony looked down, seeming to be reading something. “uhhh- Albanian.” Tony stated. “Ndryshoje ate perseri!” (change it back!) he again looked down at the screen. scanned it and began typing. “better?” he asked “god i hope so.” you responded. He handed you the device again, then began to walk out the door. only then did you notice to translate audio controls he was using.
“We’ll use you on our next mission, try to practice with it from now until then.” He was followed by Steve, Natasha, Thor and Wanda.
You stood there, glancing towards Bucky then back down at the screen in your hands.
------------------------------------------------
That night you spent almost 4 hours picking out the right outfit. You finally settled on professional looking white blouse and black slacks. It was hard to except comfort in wearing a dress, especially for how fragile your body used to be, instead you decided you’d slowly work up to that.
After doing your makeup and hair, you went down to the common room and found Bucky waiting patiently on the couch, his body lined in kaki pants, and a navy blue dress shirt. When his eyes locked on you, he stood.
“Y-you, I uh…” he stuttered, “You look amazing.” You blushed as he then rubbed the back of his neck and quickly grabbed his gray blazer from the back of the couch. “Are you ready?”
You nodded meekly.
It was a funny thing, being so nervous around him, you’d kissed him before, talked to him plenty, and he took an unusually fast likening to you. But still you felt butterflies in your tummy and simultaneously  felt those butterflies flap their wings of fire to cause it to churn.
Nervous, yes that’s what you still are. The whole way there, clinging to Bucky’s arm, and the entire time you waited to be seated.
And then, you weren’t.
You were flying on cloud 9, staring into pools of ocean and laughing with the sound of liquid gold that poured from his mouth.
“You really broke 6 bones while trying to play tennis?” he chuckled.
“Yeah well I was an hyper child.” You replied, but then he stopped for a moment, thinking.
“(y/n)?” he asked softly, peering over the candle light as you pressed a glass of wine to your lips.
“Hmm”
“What happened before Tony found you.”
You coughed; choking on your drink and feeling some pour down your chin, but quickly wiped it before it could touch your blouse.
“Sorry, I’m just curious, you don’t have to-“
“No, no. it’s alright Bucky.” You cleared your throat. “Id start at just before they took me in but it probably wouldn’t make any sense.”
“Start were ever you’d like”
You smiled.
“When I was little my dad was always a little… worried, about me.” You gulped. “More so then most parents, but out of anything I think in a way.. He was scared of me.”
“Scared of you?” Bucky questioned.
“My mom died, when I was born. But the doctors never knew why. And I think in a way he blamed himself… but even more he blamed me.”
You took a deep breath and let it out through your mouth.
“As I grew up, he started to notice my frail state. I broke bones so often a hospital room became like a second home, and as such my father spiraled down into debt.”
“So he did the only think he could think of.” You looked up at Bucky, his expression hard and concerned. “He put me up for adoption.”
“How… how old where you?”
“Ten.” You smiled. “Ten, and id already broken every bone in my body at least once.”
“I was an active kid, I loved sports, I loved dares, but when I was put into that home, I was on lock down. A couple times even in a padded cell.”
The waiter came to pick up menus, asking about choices and smiling sweetly at you. But Bucky didn’t remove his eyes from your face, he was frozen.
“Did you ever….” He trailed,
“No. I never got adopted. I was there from 10 to 18 and not once was I even allowed to be interviewed.”
You gave a humorless laugh.
“Defective, that’s what they’d call me. So I felt I needed to prove to them, and my father I could live on my own.”
“So I left, an 18 year old with no money, family or friends, and I got a job.”
This time you laughed, you laughed in good heart and watched Bucky smile softly at the sound.
“’Terry’s seafood.’ I always smelled like tuna and grease. But I found a little apartment, and I lived, I lived and I didn’t break a single bone for 2 years.”
“What happened?”
You shook your head.
“The third year wasn’t bad. Minor injuries., the 4th and 5th was just bad relationships and insomnia but the 6th … I was in car crash, broke so many bones I was in the hospital for months, and when I got out… I was so far in debt, so lost in the pile of rent, that I couldn’t get back up.”
The food finally arrived, but being so engaged in the conversation, neither of you began to eat.
“The whole year before Tony found me was hell. I lost my job, my home, everything. It was like a nightmare, because I finally saw my dad in myself. Not even I could deal with me. I was so much baggage; I couldn’t even live with myself.”
“And… the blast?” Bucky wondered. But he had the most heartbroken look on his face. One that he got when he wanted to say something but couldn’t. And you knew him well enough to know that it was probably something to contour your inner turmoil.
“I broke my leg.” You wiped a hand down your face. “I broke my leg, and I had no house, no job, and a mountain of debt, I couldn’t go to the hospital, but I also couldn’t walk, which means I couldn’t find food. So I was angry, I was livid. Why me. Why did I have to carry around this burden of glass skin, and then… I just kind of lost it.”
You poked around your plate with your fork.
“I didn’t mean to do so much damage Bucky… I really didn’t.” you mumbled.
“Well I’m glad you did.” He chuckled.
“Why?”
“Well… because we met.”
