Hi, sorry for the radio silence!
If your requests are open, can I ask for a wolfman x reader where the flyboys see the sonogram in Leo’s locker (he keeping it a secret but acting a little different) from the fwb fic?
I understand if you deny this request and respect your decision!
Sorry again,
Your biggest fan!

One month later…
“This is really happening,” you tell the two.
“I guess it is,” she nods.
“Yeah,” Leonard nods. “What are we talking about?”
Charlotte takes a deep breath, keeping her comments to herself. “I’m still surprised you’re having his baby.”
“So am I, Charls. So am I.”
“Hey. Why are you two ganging up on me?”
“We’re not,” you turn to face your friend, “are we?”
She shrugs and snatches the instructions from your hands and flips back to page one. “Okay, this- this just isn’t working. Should it be this hard to put a crib together?”
Leonard shrugs and tries to screw the bars for one of the side panels. “No.”
“No one asked you,” she snaps back.
You chuckle, “you just did.”
“I’m pretty sure it was a rhetorical question.”
She nods, pointing to him. “I knew I liked him.”
Your bottom lip sticks out as you fight the urge to fight back. Maybe a joke would be a better thing to say, lighten the mood a little. “I’m pretty sure you told me you hated him when you realized how close he was with your ex-boytoy and his best friend.”
“You’re a liar. She’s lying,” she hands him the screw he’s looking for.
“It’s okay, he didn’t like you either.”
“What?” Her head snaps over in his direction.
“I never said that. She’s lying,” he turns to you. “Stop talking, stop saying things. The changes you’re going through are making it harder on you to keep these things to yourself so just,” he shushes you.
There was a bit of tension in the air as Charlotte and Leonard finished building the crib.
-
Two weeks later
He quickly places the latest sonogram picture back into his locker at the sound of the guys coming in.
“We missed you up there… again.” Nick claps him on the shoulder.
He's quiet and doesn't respond, which isn't like Leonard, at all. It instantly puts the troublemaker on edge.
“Where’s your head at?” Pete asks.
“You’ve been off,” Rick comments, also wondering what’s going on with his friend.
“Nothing. It’s nothing- I haven’t- shut up.” He tries to fight the urge to blurt out the truth, but he knows you aren't quite ready for anyone else to know just yet.
You're trying to plan on having a gender reveal party- or something similar to that. He can't quite remember what you said, all he knows is that if you do plan on throwing a party, you'll be stressing out a lot.
"Maybe his old lady finally has him by the- well," Nick pauses, giving the guys a second to think. "You know what I mean."
Pete shoves his friend’s shoulder while Rick throws a crumbled paper ball at him. "Knock it off, knucklehead."
"She's not like that," Leonard chimes in, defending you.
"Is it that one chick you were talking to at the bar a while back?" Pete asks, taking his arms out of his sleeves, tying them around his waist so he can cool off.
"Uh- I mean, which- uh- who are you talking about?"
"The one who's close with Charlie, right?" Nick adds.
Pete grimaces with an affirmative nod. "Yeah, her."
"She's nice," Rick adds.
"If it is that one, I like her. She keeps you in line."
The cowboy hat lover let's out a fake chuckle, "you're so nice man. Yeah, it's her."
"You finally manned up and asked her out on a real date instead of lying to yourself. Dare I say," he wipes away a fake tear. "I'm proud of you."
Pete pouts. "Wait- now I'm lost."
"What he said? We need some background information," the mustached man gestures to him and his partner in crime.
Leonard rolls his eyes and quickly nudges his locker open just enough for him to grab his helmet, except he knocks it against the inside of the door and knocks off his pictures.
"I’ll help you," Rick offers, since his locker is right next to Leonard’s. He picks up a few random pictures everyone has seen (since they're more or less likely in them) and then he stumbles across a very special one. "What's this?"
Nick furrows his brows at the question and leans over, his brows instantly shooting up when he starts at the black and white, very familiar photo. "Oh, yeah. Dude, I'm going to need some background information like now because that," he points to it. "Is not something you can easily avoid. Also, congrats. Now you'll understand my struggle."
"And, what's that?" Leonard asks, snatching the photos from Rick's hands.
"Running on five hours or less of sleep with a newborn. I mean," he glances him up and down. "That is, if you two are going to do this together and you didn't leave her high and dry because, I'm not going to lie that'd be- the ultimate dick move."
"I'm pretty sure they're together, Goose."
"We'll, I can't just assume. What if she mailed him a letter and gave him a choice but he hasn't made one yet or he did and that sonogram is a reminder of what two people can create in the heat of the moment whether they love each other or not, huh. Explain that Mav."
Rick shakes his head and slaps the back of their heads. "You two, shut up. Wolf, what happened?"
"Uh, well-" He scratches the back of his neck. "We were "seeing" each other for a bit and then she left one night and then it was over."
"Oh, that's makes sense now."
"What makes sense?" Tom asks, with Ron coming in behind him.
"We finally got the official answer about why cowboy was depressed a few months ago," Nick tells him.
"It was a girl, wasn't it?"
"Yeah."
"I already knew that."
"Okay," he pushes past Pete and Rick so he can lean against the lockers closer to the blond. "But now we know our infamous Wolfman, has some- well, I don't mean to be crass but," he claps Leonard on the shoulder (again). "He's got some excellent cowboys in his holster."
It took everyone a moment to realize what exactly Nick is talking about and everyone in the room groaned.
"I know. I know, I'm not proud of it either but it was the best I could come up with."
"So..." Tom starts.
"Yes?" Nick replies.
"Not talking to you."
"Rude."
"Are you two-"
"I'm not going to miss anything in the bubbles life." The corners of his lips twitch upwards. "We just built the crib."
"Wow..." Pete nods.
"How long did it take?" The mustached man asks.
"It would have been smoother had Charlie not tried to steal everything. I had to restart everything she did."
"Wait until the mood swings come."
Ron shakes his head with a groan, "don't remind me."
"How old are your kids again, Slider?" Pete asks.
"Tony's going to be three in four months and Lindsay just turned one."
"One already? It seems like they were just born yesterday," Leonard says.
"Wait, till you understand that feeling... dad."
Leonard groans, laying down on the bench, placing his hat over his eyes. "Shut up, Pete."
"Never."
"Better him than me."
"You're both equally bad," Tom points out, glaring at Nick.
"But now you know a little bit of what you have to look forward to," Ron nudges him.
"Yeah, oh, I remember when we first heard Bradley's heartbeat. I cried."
"The heartbeat can make any man cry," Tom points out.
"Is there something you're trying to tell us, Icepop?" Nick asks.
"You're hearing things, mother goose."
"Not helping." Leonard pushes himself up.
"The most helpful thing we can say is, congratulations again and then we call your future baby mama and pass along the same-"
"No!"
Nick and Pete glance at one another with their eyebrows raised.
"You weren't supposed to tell anyone, we're you?" Tom chimes in, asking the very question they were thinking.
"I have to go out now, come on, H-Wood."
Leonard grabs his friend by his collar, forcing him out of the room.
-
Charlotte hangs up and grabs yours and her lunch. "I owe you."
You shake your head, "no you don't."
"I do. You won."
"He squealed."
She nods, sitting down on the couch beside you. "He did. The guys know and I'm sure Viper's going to know before the end of the day."
"Never bet against me. You know that."
She sets her cup down and quickly swallows her sip so she can whine. "Don't be mean. I get it, you're the queen of bets."
"Damn right I am."
"Should you be cursing around the baby like that?"
Your smile instantly falls from your face. "Oh my god. Mini wolf's first word is going to be some curse word, isn't it?"
"As long as you don't do it often... maybe you'll be fine?"
"You're not helping!"
"Don't start crying again, please."
-
"Oh, thank god you're back- oh," Charlotte holds the door open for Leonard and the others to walk through the door. "Why are there more of you?"
"Well, they- uh-"
"We know they know but why are they here?"
"We wanted to say hi," Nick chimes in, with Pete right beside him.
She narrows her eyes at the two and sighs. "Fine, come on in. You better have brought food, at least. We do have someone who's eating for two."
"We did," Tom lifts one of the many bags they have.
"Thank god, one of you was smart."
-
You walk down the hall at the sound of many people talking, people you know you weren't expecting. "Hello?"
"Hi, baby." Leonard pecks your cheek, "and baby." He places his hand on your belly, smiling. "How is our little bubbles?"
"Growing... but I was actually thinking of changing their name."
"Oh?"
"What do you think about mini wolf?"
"I think our baby's going to be very confused when they're born."
You nod, "yeah but I want to have a cuter nickname because you make me and mini wolf happy."
He smiles. "I’m happy to know that but I think bubbles was always a cute nickname. Now come on." He grabs your hand, "we brought a feast."
"Really?"
"Of things you probably shouldn't be eating but, we'll deal with better now."
-
"So," Nick says, extending the word. "Any names picked out?"
"Not yet."
"It'll come to you in the moment."
You smile and nod, "I hope so."
"Okay, we need to hear it from the source," Ron interrupts.
You furrow your brows. "Hear what?"
"What exactly happened?"
"Finally, things are getting interesting," Charlotte mutters.
"Can it, Charls."

New Taylor Swift prompts! 16, Matt/Foggy
16. I’ve missed you all this time (from this prompt list) I don't know what this is, but it's technically set in the 60s, even though I did not make that explicitly clear anywhere in the text and it serves no purpose beyond just...vibes. I mostly just wanted to write silly new year’s fic, don’t worry about historical accuracy or world-building, everyone be cool! happy 2024, you silly and sultry geese! on ao3 here 🥂✨
Matt can still hear the noise of the party, barely dampened even when he's several rooms removed. He’d be able to hear it from the lobby of the building, truth be told, but here he can still make out conversations without having to focus that hard. He tries to direct his senses somewhere else—somewhere with less overlapping chatter and clinking glasses and shuffling feet over plush carpets—and breathe deep, so that maybe he can regain some equilibrium and hopefully go back to the party in a few minutes and act normal. It’s almost midnight, after all, and who goes to a New Year’s Eve party just to ditch out before midnight?
“Matthew Augustus Murdock,” a voice calls out from the far end of the paneled hallway.
“Not my middle name,” Matt says, smiling, “as you already know.”
“But wouldn’t it be better if it was?” Foggy asks, as he slides down to sit next to Matt.
“Yes, I imagine I’d have lived a much easier and more successful life, if only my middle name was…what was it again?”
“Albert,” Foggy says, “or something. Who cares?”
“Good point,” Matt says, pressing his shoulder into Foggy’s happily. “How’d you find me?”
“I used the one and only superpower God graced me with: I’m like a homing pigeon for you specifically. I always know where to find you. It’s eerie, frankly, and damned useless, but—“
“Not to me,” Matt interjects, too readily. “I mean, for what it’s worth.”
Foggy nods, his overly long hair that he keeps meaning to get cut rasping over his shirt's stiff collar as he does. “That’s a good point.”
“I make those occasionally.”
“Occasionally,” Foggy repeats in a comically shrill, tiny voice, like he’s doing an impression of a cartoon mouse, for whatever reason. He’s a little drunk, clearly, which Matt could tell from the way he’s talking and the way he’s moving and the way he smells and, well, that’s probably enough evidence.
“If I’m ever in trouble, I know who to call,” Matt says, which is maybe too honest, but Foggy doesn’t have to know that.
“You wouldn’t even have to call, Matt,” Foggy replies, solemnly grasping his shoulder. “If you’re ever in trouble, I’ll know and I’ll come running.”
“I would pay real money to see you actually run anywhere.”
“You’d have to, my man. I imagine it would take a massive breakthrough in science for you to see anything at all, and those things tend to cost a pretty penny,” Foggy says, grandly. “And also, on a much more serious note, go fuck yourself.”
Matt laughs and collapses against Foggy’s shoulder. “I’m sorry, I just know how much you hate running.”
“Which means you’ve entirely missed the inherent capital-R romanticism of me offering to do it for you! Classic Murdock. Absolute philistine behavior. I should expect it by now.”
“Your gallantry is wasted on me,” Matt agrees, still doing that thing of being too honest.
“I know,” Foggy sighs, theatrically, “and yet, here I am.”
“Why are you here, anyway?”
“Missed you, came looking. Same as ever.”
“Aw,” Matt says, leaning into his side even more. “You’re right, I really don’t deserve you.”
“I never said that. You said that,” Foggy says, poking him. “But anyway, I lied and the real answer to your question is that I got tired of girls coming up to me and asking where my handsome friend had got to.”
Matt knows two things with a decent degree of certainty: Foggy hadn’t been lying when he gave his first answer (Matt would have heard it in his heartbeat and likely noticed any other number of tells that Foggy has when he does lie, besides) and that no one would have had to ask him to go looking for Matt after he disappeared. His joke about homing pigeon-like tendencies is more truthful than either of them would like to acknowledge. When Matt goes missing—as he very frequently does at these types of things—Foggy always comes to find him. Matt’s been doing this since way before he met Foggy—having overly heightened senses does not make crowded social functions more manageable in general—but he can probably admit that he does it more now that he knows someone will come looking for him.
He also knows that girls like Foggy a lot more than Foggy thinks they do. He’s always talking about how girls seek him out to get in with Matt, but Matt doesn’t really believe that. There have been a few girls, here and there, certainly enough that Foggy’s right to be a little paranoid about it, who have turned their sights from Foggy to Matt, which on top of being unkind is just bad business sense. Anyone with a brain in their head would see that Foggy’s the better option of the two of them. And Matt’s got plenty of flaws, but he’d certainly never take up with anyone who hurt his best friend, so it doesn’t work out the way anyone hopes it will, anyway, when they do. Still, he's sure Foggy could have found a nice girl to keep him entertained until Matt got back to the party, if he put his mind to it, and that maybe he'd just been looking for an excuse to duck out himself when someone asked about Matt.
“This is where I got to,” Matt says, with a slightly pathetic shrug.
“Who says I meant you?” Foggy asks, absently. “I have other friends that are handsomer than you!”
“Not only do you not have a single handsomer friend in all the world,” Matt says, belatedly unsure if ‘handsomer’ is even a word, but otherwise too confident to turn back, “you don’t even have another friend at this party.”
“I’m exceedingly charming, Matthew,” Foggy over-enunciates. “Everyone at this party is my new best friend.”
Matt loops his arm through Foggy’s and leans his head back against the wall. “Sounds like I’ve got a lot of competition.”
“You’re not having fun?” Foggy asks, the change of topic so sudden and his tone so unexpectedly serious that Matt has a brief moment of confusion that he means with this joke they’ve got going. It takes a second to realize he means at the party in general.
“It’s fancy.”
“Too fancy, you mean…”
“You know I don’t go in for all this stuff,” Matt says, shrugging.
“Like I do, you mean?” Foggy asks, lightly, even though Matt can feel him warming with embarrassment.
“Like I used to,” Matt clarifies, and trusts his meaning to be clear.
“Right,” Foggy says, and the tone in his voice is the one he uses exclusively when he refers to Matt’s ex-girlfriend from junior year who almost caused him to drop out. “Fair enough, I suppose.”
“You can head back. Really, I don’t mind. I just need a few more minutes.”
“No, you’re right. It’s…a bit stuffy, isn’t it?” Foggy muses. “I mean, I didn’t even know people still had apartments like this, outside of, well, the Rockefellers.”
The apartment belongs to the parents of one of their friends from law school and the only reason they have free rein over the place is because the parents are vacationing in Aspen with friends. Even without being able to see it, Matt can tell it’s a swanky place. The rug he’s currently sitting on is so plush that he can basically sink his entire hand into it. Every table he passed on his way to this hiding place smelled so strongly of Pine-Sol that there has to be a maid on staff, if not a team of them. He’s fairly certain this random hallway he discovered is actually a back passage to the kitchens, so the servants don’t have to be seen coming and going. He's not sure if he asked their host about it that they'd even know it existed. And Matt’s shoes, as well as most of his clothes, are secondhand.
“You were having fun until I made you feel bad,” Matt says, tucking his chin onto Foggy’s shoulder and trying to look contrite.
“No, I mean—I like having you around, Matt. You keep me honest,” Foggy laughs. “Two and a half years of law school, four years at an Ivy before that, I think I’ve just made peace with having to go to parties in uncomfortable clothes and to make conversation with people I don’t really like. I don’t think I’d call it fun, but it’s a social life of some kind, I suppose.”
“We should have gone to Josie’s,” Matt says, holding onto him too tightly, even with the excuse of a few drinks.
Foggy snorts, thinking of the beloved dive bar they sneak off to in Hell’s Kitchen whenever they can, whenever they’re home. It’s only a matter of blocks to get there, but sometimes, at school, it feels farther away than all that.
“I don’t dare imagine the caliber of our prospects for a kiss at midnight there,” Foggy says, with an exaggerated shudder.
“Can’t be any worse than our prospects here,” Matt replies.
Foggy whistles, low, under his breath. “You’re going to be disappointing a lot of nice girls with that kind of talk, Murdock!”
“Better to disappoint them now than later,” Matt says, fully burying his face in Foggy’s shoulder now. He gets like this when he drinks. Foggy's used to it.
“Oh, that’s right. You don’t do the whole ‘going steady’ thing anymore,” Foggy says, leaning in conspiratorially. “You’re too damaged and that means you’re never going to get married, so you’d rather not lead anyone on.”
“You say that like it’s not true,” Matt whispers back.
“It isn’t true, you moron!” Foggy laughs. “One day, some beautiful girl is going to turn your head so quick, you’ll have neck problems for the rest of your life!”
“Sounds uncomfortable,” Matt says.
“And I’ll be there,” Foggy continues, like Matt didn’t even speak, “laughing.”
“Well, as long as you’ll be there, Foggy.”
“Did I mention you’re a moron?”
“Yes. A few times now, in fact.”
“Then, I’ve done my duty.”
“And what about you?” Matt asks. “When’s somebody going to turn your head?”
“Somebody turns my head every goddamn day, it feels like,” Foggy grumbles. “The problem isn’t my head. It’s everybody else’s.”
“There’s plenty of girls who’d be more than happy to trap you in matrimony.”
“Hmm, well, I’m sure that’s true enough,” Foggy replies, thoughtfully. “I guess it’s more about finding someone you wouldn’t mind being trapped with.”
“And you haven’t found her yet, I take it?”
“No,” Foggy says, sadly. The girl he dated for most of their sophomore year—the one everyone had been certain Foggy was going to end up marrying—had just gotten engaged last month. Foggy still wasn’t entirely over it, Matt was pretty sure.
“And you’re certain she’s not here?” Matt asks, encouragingly.
“Unlikely,” Foggy says. “None of the girls here would be caught dead with me in the daylight. One of them might be unscrupulous enough to let me kiss her at midnight, though.”
“So, go back,” Matt replies. “Find the girl in that room with the lowest standards and lay one on her!”
“I will if you will.”
“I don’t know this for sure, but I do have serious doubts that any girl in the room will let the both of us kiss her at midnight.”
“I meant, you should—you know what I meant!” Foggy exclaims, embarrassed again.
“I was trying to be funny!”
“‘Trying’ being the operative word there…”
Matt sighs. “What’s the point of kissing someone at midnight when there’s almost no chance of seeing them ever again after tonight?”
“You’ve just described the point yourself! It’s just for fun, to start the year off right! There’s no pressure!” Foggy says, disbelieving. "What’s gotten into you? I thought zero expectations romance was your specialty!”
“Maybe I’m just not a New Year's kind of guy.”
Foggy hums thoughtfully. “Can I tell you my theory?”
“Your theory? About what?”
“About you, and New Year's, and all of that.”
“Oh. Sure. Go ahead.”
“I think you’re afraid,” Foggy says.
“Afraid?” Matt asks. “Of…New Year’s Eve?”
“You don’t want to participate in these silly little rituals, like kissing someone at midnight, because you’re secretly terrified that something good is going to happen to you, and then you won’t know what to do with yourself.”
“Really, Foggy. Be serious!”
“I am serious,” Foggy replies, casually. “You’re scared of being hit over the head with it again.”
“Hit over the head with what?”
“Love,” Foggy says, simply. “You felt it once and it nearly derailed your whole life, so now you avoid any situation where you might accidentally meet someone interesting or have more feelings than you’ve carefully rationed out for yourself for that particular day.”
Matt swallows, feeling utterly exposed. It’s not something he would have been able to say for himself an hour ago, but the words feel true to him coming from someone else. He doesn’t like anybody knowing him well enough to know all of that, though, and if it wouldn’t be so utterly obvious, he’d pull away from Foggy right now just to be safe. Like that would even help, he thinks reluctantly.
“You missed your calling not going into psychiatry, Foggy,” he says, stiffly, once he’s gathered his wits enough to form sentences.
Foggy’s hand, warm and a little damp, closes over Matt’s where it’s still resting on his arm. Matt wants nothing more than to flinch away from it, but he controls the urge in the interest of saving face.
“Don’t be mad at me,” Foggy says, quietly, like there’s a chance they might be overheard somehow and he wants Matt to be the only one who hears this. “I’m just trying to tell you that, in avoiding fun and frivolous things, you are not sparing yourself from being hit over the head. If you’re meant to get hit over the head, it’ll happen whenever and wherever Cupid so chooses. It’ll happen at the deli or the bank or while you’re waiting for the bus. Which means that the only thing you’re ultimately sparing yourself from is fun and frivolity, and that’s a stupid way to live your life. That’s all.”
“I think you just called me a moron again,” Matt says, weakly. He doesn’t know what else to say. The rest of it is...too much to consider.
“I called you stupid, actually, but I see your point.”
In the distance, Matt hears the noise of a crowd of people all simultaneously trying to shush each other, with limited success. He imagines even Foggy can hear it too a moment later when they all begin counting aloud.
“Last chance…” Matt says, tipping his head backwards in the direction of the room where everyone’s gathered.
“It doesn’t matter,” Foggy says, apropos of nothing, as far as Matt can tell. He’s about to ask what he means when Foggy continues, anyway. “I have someone who meets your criteria.”
“My criteria?”
“Yeah. You’ll only accept a kiss from someone you’ll see again after tonight, right?”
“Uh, I don’t think I said ‘only’, I just meant—”
“Too bad,” Foggy says, as the countdown reaches its conclusion. “Happy New Year.”
Matt’s halfway through formulating a question or an objection of some kind, which is the only reason he turns in Foggy’s direction at that moment. It’s clear from the noise of surprise Foggy makes that he absolutely had no intention of kissing Matt right on the mouth and was probably, in fact, aiming for his cheek, trying to be funny and charming after Matt was such a spoilsport about the whole kissing at midnight thing. If Matt hadn’t moved, there’s no doubt in his mind that that’s what Foggy would have done and then it would have been over and they’d already be laughing about it and moving on. But Matt did move and, even awkwardly off center, Foggy is kissing him on the mouth right now and they’re both just frozen like that, shocked and useless.
Matt doesn’t give himself much credit for genius. He’s reasonably smart, and can be even smarter if he applies himself to a subject and really studies up on it, but there’s plenty of people in any given room smarter than he is, most of the time. He has his moments, though, and this is one of them. He sees very clearly the two paths available to them. Down one, this moment stretches awkwardly and they allow it to become a source of discomfort and then outright pain that they'll avoid talking about for years, or maybe possibly forever. Regardless, it has the power to ruin their friendship and Matt simply can't abide that. Down the other, they don’t flinch from it and they don’t make it any stranger than it has to be and it becomes one weird but not fully objectionable moment in their long and storied relationship. They’re not going to trot it out as an anecdote at parties, sure, but they’re not going to become crazy about denying it happened either. If Matt can steer them in the direction of the latter, he thinks maybe it will all be okay, but it’s going to require him not to make matters worse. For whatever reason, the only way he can think to not do that is by kissing Foggy back.
It’s immediately apparent that, momentary genius or no, while it does not technically make things worse, it also does not make them better. Then again, Foggy makes a sort of interested noise as he feels Matt return the kiss, which Matt is infinitely better off for knowing about and having heard and being able to think about some other time when he’s alone preferably.
They don’t take it any farther than just that. They’re not necking in some random person’s hallway or doing anything truly objectionable. They just stay there, mouths pressed together so that Matt can smell (and sort of taste) the champagne Foggy’s had and the last cigarette he smoked and a hint of that sugary gum he always chews, even though he hasn’t had a piece since before they came to the party. It mostly feels, more than anything else, like they’re breathing together and it’s not sexy the way wild, passionate groping in the dark can be, but it’s intimate in its own unique way. Matt, against his own better judgment, puts a hand on Foggy’s cheek, and he doesn't really know why beyond just really wanting to and that seems to be reason enough.
Foggy doesn’t try to slip his tongue into Matt’s mouth—despite the alarming reality that the moment Matt realizes that’s not what he’s doing, he also realizes he’d let him—or try to escalate matters one bit. His hand is still grasping Matt’s collar from when he first pulled him in, but his other one doesn’t roam. His lips, still pressed to Matt’s, only move to exert a little more pressure and to alter the angle at which they meet slightly. He takes precisely zero liberties and makes no effort to get fresh with him at all. It’s very gentlemanly, and Matt doesn’t know what to do with himself because it doesn’t feel awkward or fumbling at all. It feels like restraint, and once he knows that, everything is different.
The tune of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ reaches him from the other room, but it’s drowned out almost entirely by the sound of Foggy’s heartbeat in Matt’s ears. Foggy must hear it too, though, because he breaks their kiss with the worst sort of gentleness, pulling back only enough for them both to have space to breathe but not far enough that Matt can’t feel that breath on his face.
Matt traces his thumb over the curve of Foggy’s cheek before dropping his hand back down into his own lap and licks his lips as he slowly turns away.
“Happy New Year,” he says, aiming for calm and unaffected and likely missing it by a lot.
“You too,” Foggy says, even though he already said it first. His heart is still beating too fast and too close and too loud for Matt to read his tone, which is too bad, because he’d really like to know how Foggy feels right now and if he feels anything like Matt does.
Because Matt feels like he’s been hit over the head.

Chapter Three
First thing her ears pick up on are the sounds of cars driving on the street with the occasional honking.
Despite the aching thrumming over her body, Y/N managed to open her eyes to take in the slightly darkened room.
She kept still as she took in the environment around her; at first the familiar edge of panic shot up her spine causing her to whip up in the bed she occupied. However, the longer she stared out into the room, the more it sank in.
The small bedroom complete with a bed fitted with olden sheets and a comforter, a modest dresser sitting against a wall covered in chipped paint and scrapped wooden panels acting as the floor.
It wasn’t a dream, everything that happened last night was real.
She was in Brooklyn, New York, in the 40’s.
Once the memories rushed back to her, Y/N took a deep breath, fingers carding through her hair while her arms rested on top of her thighs.
Then she wondered what time it was so she moved her eyes about the room, subconsciously looking for a digital clock and forgetting she wouldn’t find one. Though she found a small analogous clock sitting on the nightstand that read, 8:30am.
She hummed, knowing that it was about the same time she got up every morning.
Nice to know that even in traveling through time, she kept to a schedule.
Figuring she should get up, Y/N pushed the comforter from her legs and bundled them up at the end of the bed. Then quietly, she stood up from the warm mattress and tip toed over to the wooden bedroom door. Her fingers reached forward, taking the cool metal of the doorknob into her grip, the cold almost stinging the surface of her skin as she turned it. A clicking sound resonated into the room and she pushed the door open.
Y/N peaked out into the living room, seeing that Bucky and Steve were already up and running for the day.
Jeez. It seemed that even in the 40’s, Bucky and Steve were early risers too.
Before stepping out, Y/N listened in on their soft voices talking to each other.
“You think she’ll be okay? She seemed out of it.” Steve asked, as he poured himself a glass of orange juice.
Bucky, taking a sip from his coffee mug, shrugged then swallowed the contents. “I’m not sure, but she seemed alright for the most part. Besides, she doesn’t have anywhere else to go; it wouldn’t do us any harm giving her a chance to get back on her feet.”
Steve nodded in agreement.
The said woman smiled tenderly, mostly to herself, at Bucky’s words. They didn’t know each other all that well at this time, and yet Bucky was putting her needs before his own.
That was a rare gift to find in any time period.
Finally, she stepped out from Bucky’s room, quietly making her way to the side of the dining table.
At first, the boys didn’t notice her presence, however, once Y/N just a few feet from the table,  Bucky straightened himself up.
“Hey, good morning.” He greeted boyishly.
Steve whipped himself around to see Y/N standing there. “Good morning.”
She shyly smiled, head dipping down a couple of times. “Good morning, you two.”
“Did you sleep well?” Bucky asked, setting his cup onto the table; deep blue eyes never straying from Y/N’s delicate figure covered in nothing but his baggy white shirt.
“Yeah I did. You were right, it did get chilly in there last night.” She joked light heartedly, trying to keep the situation less odd.
“Were you able to stay warm at least?”
Y/N nodded. “Thank you, I really appreciate it.”
“No problem, and if there’s anything else you need, just let us know.” Bucky said, seemingly distracted by Y/N’s morning beauty.
Steve looked between the two adults then let out a cough causing Bucky to shake out of his thoughts. “So Y/N, do you want some breakfast?”
Her eyes snapped to Steve who stood from the tablwe. “Oh yeah, that’d be great. Thank you.”
He politely smiled at her, proceeding to pull out one of the dining chairs for her. She walked over and sat on the wooden material of the chair; it wasn’t exactly comfortable but she wouldn’t be sitting at the dinner table for a long time.
“What would you like?” Steve asked Y/N who had spaced out for a moment.
“What do you two have to eat?” She asked as she looked between the two men.
Bucky strolled into the compact kitchen searching for food. “We have - let me see - we got eggs, bread, oatmeal, cereal and….I think that’s all we got.”
“How about uh…oatmeal?” Y/N answered though it sounded more like a question.
Bucky scoffed with a grin. “Oatmeal? Unsure are we?”
Y/N laughed. “No, I mean oatmeal please.”
Then the dark haired man pulled out a sealed small packet of, what Y/N assumed was the breakfast food itself. He rummaged through the shared kitchen, eyes dancing over the different metal pans inside to find the one he needed.
As he began to prepare the simple meal for Y/N, she pulled her attention to Steve who had sat back down diagonal from her. “Did you sleep okay?”
There it was again, the look of startled surprise appearing across Steve’s face upon hearing her question.
She wondered, was it really so odd for someone other than Bucky to be concerned for him?
Nonetheless, he answered. “Oh yeah, I slept fine. Thanks for asking.”
“What about you, Bucky?” Y/N tested out the name, feeling a bit awkward for saying it despite having said it many times.
From what she could tell, it didn’t bother him as he stood over the stove waiting for the water to heat up, rubbing the back of his neck uncomfortably.
“Uh…well I slept about as well as one could on that rickety sofa.” He admitted, a small groan falling from his lips as he set his hand down to his side.
A pout formed on her lips. “I’m sorry to hear that, hopefully I won’t be taking up your bed for too long.”
“It's really not a big deal. Besides I'm the one that offered, didn't I?”
Y/N tilted her head to the side, “Well technically, you both offered your beds.”
The boys laughed at her witty comment, easing some of the tension in Y/N’s shoulders.
“That’s true, but still…” Bucky snickered, pouring the oatmeal packet into a bowl and then mixing it with hot water. “I wouldn’t worry your pretty little head about our sleeping arrangement.”
He picked up the bowl from the counter and brought it to the table, placing it carefully in front of Y/N.
“We said we’d help you out until you got back on your feet, and we meant it.” He added while taking his place at the table, across from her.
She smiled gratefully at him, and spared Steve that look as well. “And I am grateful for that.”
Bucky gave a slight nod, taking a sip of his coffee. And in the corner of her eye, Y/N saw Steve take a drink of his orange juice at the same time.
Y/N gripped a hold of the spoon already buried by the thick oatmeal and took a bite. The moment it hit her tongue, it burned and in a panic she quickly swallowed to make it go away; feeling the uncomfortable sensation of it traveling down her throat into her stomach.
Should’ve blown on it first. She scolded herself in more ways than one.
She managed to keep her distress on the downlow as neither one of the boys reacted to her searing her tongue off. Honestly, it was better that way, she already felt awkward around them.
Deciding to take another bite, Y/N first blew on the food before swallowing it, much happier that it didn’t burn her that time.
“Speaking of getting you back on your feet, do you have any other belongings with you that we might be able to pick up?” Bucky asked, thumbling the handle of his cup.
Y/N thought on it, gaze dancing about over the surface of the table. “Um…no, no there isn’t. Like I said before, that purse was all I had.”
“Well that means we’ll have to go out today and replace what got stolen.”
She quirked a brow up at the implication. “You don’t mean you’re going to replace it?”
“Well yeah..” He stated matter of factly, with a little hesitation.
“I can’t ask you to do that.” Y/N objected, her breakfast nearly forgotten. “That would be so expensive.”
Steve leaned forward, clearing his throat as he began to voice his thoughts. “But we can’t leave you with nothing to call your own.”
“The question of money isn’t a serious concern either; both of us have steady jobs so getting you something like clothes won’t be a problem.” Bucky added to further support Steve’s point.
Y/N listened to the two, becoming more and more conflicted because one, she wasn’t even from this time period so it would be pointless for her to buy things when she would ultimately leave, but she wasn’t even sure that she could leave or if she could when she’d be able to leave and if she was going to stay, she did need regular household items to live in this time.
Either way, she needed at least the bare minimum for a person to live semi-conveniently.
“I would feel guilty if you spent money on me; I’m not from around here.” Y/N still tried to reason with them, but they weren’t having it.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re from around here or not. You’re here now with us, and life can be difficult on your own so let us two gents help a pretty lady in trouble huh?” He teased confidently.
Again, the familiar heat rose to her cheeks and her heart skipped a beat in her chest. She was not used to this type of flirting from him. Back home, Bucky was much more subtle with his flirting; his self consciousness made him hesitant in any kind of romantic relationship. Therefore, to know that he was flirting in the first place, one would have to look under the surface to see what his intentions were.
To have Bucky, in a time she knew nothing about, being much more obvious in his intent was a shock to be sure.
Regardless, she shyly moved her head down to her breakfast. “O-okay…”
Once they had all finished with breakfast, Steve cleaned up the table and kitchen while Bucky searched through his closet for his smallest clothes for Y/N to wear, at least until they got to the clothing store a couple of blocks down the street.
He had handed her another white button up shirt, and a pair of brown high-waisted jeans with a belt. They were the smallest he could find, but they all soon realized that wasn’t going to work because as soon as she stepped out of the bathroom, the pants would not stay up properly.
Y/N had pulled the belt over the very last notch and it still wasn’t tight enough around her waist.
Bucky stood still, thumb resting under his chin as he contemplated what to do next. Then Steve made the suggestion that maybe a pair of his pants could fit, so he grabbed a pair and waited for Y/N to change again.
When she stepped out they saw immediately that with the coupling of Bucky’s belt, the pants did indeed fit around her waist so right after that, they left for the clothes shop down the road.
Though the clothes fit, it was clear they weren’t her’s, if the slighted stares of people walking by her on the sidewalk was any indication. Luckily, Y/N didn’t care what others thought about her clothes, she’d be wearing a different pair here before too long anyhow.
The three of them mostly kept quiet until they came into view of the shop Bucky had mentioned earlier that morning. Bucky pointed it out, and they jogged across the street to meet at the front door.
Steve stepped forward to open the door first, letting Y/N and Bucky step through before he did.
The first thing Y/N noticed was the counter with a lone bell sitting on top of it and nobody occupying the space behind it though that quickly changed as Bucky casually strolled up to the counter and tapped the bell, causing a ringing sound to echo through the small inside.
An older woman, probably about fifty years old, walked out with a pair of black glasses attached to a thin chain around her neck, and a maroon colored dress. Once her eyes set upon Bucky’s figure, she smiled brightly.
“Hello, dear, it’s been so long since I’ve seen you!”
He smiled back at her in return. “I’ve been busy with work.”
The woman then playfully slapped his arm. “Don’t give me that, James. You said the same thing when you were in school.”
That caused Bucky to laugh while the woman looked at Steve. “Hello, Steve, dear. How are you feeling?”
He gave a nod and a much more relaxed smile. “I’m feeling alright.”
“You staying out of trouble?” She asked inquisitively while raising a brow at him.
He laughed then too, bashfully, almost like she had caught him red handed. “Mostly.”
“Oh my word, boy! You’ll worry me and James to an early grave!” She let out a laugh of her own that time then her attention was pulled to the unfamiliar young woman standing between them. “And who is this young lady?”
“This is a new friend of mine, Y/N. She, unfortunately, had her stuff stolen and is in the market for some new clothes.” Bucky explained, pivoting himself to look back at the young woman.
The older woman walked around the counter to shake Y/N’s hand which Y/N politely reciprocated. “I’m so sorry to hear that dear. I’m Irene, nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too, Ma’am.”
“Don’t you worry, now. We’ll find you something real nice, something that..” She took a small step back to eye the baggy clothes she wore, her smile falling and expression utterly perplexed. “...will suit you much better.”
Y/N watched Bucky cough awkwardly while Steve avoided Irene’s gaze all together.
“Seriously, boys, you couldn’t have found something better for the poor thing to wear? Shame on you.”
Y/N might have laughed if she hadn’t felt embarrassed that she let Bucky and Steve let her wear their clothes.
So much for not caring what others thought.
Irene then gently grabbed Y/N by the shoulders, beginning to lead her further into the store. “Now let’s pick a nice dress for you.”
“Dress?” Y/N questioned, abruptly stopping in the middle of the store.
“Of course a dress, deary! What else would you expect to wear?” The older woman gawked at her.
Y/N eyes fluttered down to what she was already wearing, briefly gesturing to it. “These?”
Irene shook her head. “Don’t you think that sends the wrong message dear? Wearing two different men’s clothes?”
“How could you tell they were from two different men?” Y/N asked, surprised.
The older woman turned over her shoulder for a moment, staring at Bucky and Steve as they avoided looking at her sight directly, awkwardly busying themselves with anything other than the woman herself.
She sighed. “Honey, I’ve been doing this for a long time, I think I can tell when the clothes don’t match.”
“Oh..” Y/N mumbled.
“Now let’s stop wasting time and get you something pretty to wear!” She insisted, beginning to lead her towards the back of the shop again.
In the span of thirty minutes, Irene has picked three different outfits for Y/N to try on, and each seemed to fit her personality perfectly while also being shockingly comfortable.
The first outfit had been a green shirt waist dress with white flowers decorating the fabric; next there was the tan lined skirt and a white blouse, and lastly, a pale blue peplum top dress with a gray cardigan and a pair of black flats with a thin strap going over the foot.
The pale blue dress had really caught Y/N’s eye, urgently pointing to it as soon as she’d seen it hanging on one of the many racks in the store. Irene seemed to agree that it was the perfect dress since she exclaimed the word beautiful once she’d stepped out of the changing room.
Y/N took a moment to admire herself in the mirror, liking the way that the dress wrapped around her curves in a classy sort of way. She thought she looked attractive with the combination of being polite, best of both worlds.
Although there was something oddly familiar about this shopping trip. Y/N couldn’t place it.
“I have to say, you are a natural at picking out clothes, Ma’am.” Y/N complimented, continuing to look in the mirror.
“Please call me Irene.” The woman waved at hand at the formality. “Besides I should be good at this, considering I’ve been doing this for twenty years.”
Y/N grinned at the woman’s carefree attitude then let the older woman guide her back to the front of the store where Bucky and Steve had been waiting patiently.
Upon catching Y/N in that pale blue dress, Bucky nearly jumped up from the chair he’d been sitting in, eyes growing wide with awe.
“Wow, you look…” He paused for a brief second to swallow hard. “..beautiful.”
Then it hit her.
She had stepped out of the changing room inside one of the various clothing stores inside the mall, watching as Bucky’s eyes grew wide and stood straight up when his blue eyes settled on the dress she was wearing.
“Wow, you look…beautiful.”
Y/N couldn’t help the giddy grin and an excited laugh that left her. “You think so?”
He nodded, completely stunned. “Yeah, I mean, god, you’re perfect.”
“Aww, Bucky.” She stepped forward, resting her hands on his shoulders and pecked his lips. “You are the sweetest, you know that?”
Bucky raised his metal arm to the small of her back with a smile that could light up the world. “Only for you, Doll.”
Suddenly, she felt like she didn’t know how to breathe as that one memory knocked the air right from her lungs.
In the short span of less than a day, somehow she’d forgotten the reason she was here, the whole point to why she had to be getting new clothes in the first place.
She didn’t belong here, but the memory and what was happening now started to merge together in a way that made her want to drag him into her arms and never let go; kiss him until they both had troubling breathing.
Unfortunately, he didn’t know anything of what they shared together, what they had.
He didn’t know her.
Fighting back the suffocating ache in her chest, Y/N tried to convincingly show she was flattered by his compliment. “Thank you, Bucky.”
“No problem.” Bucky shyly nodded, beginning to fidget in his spot. He didn’t have to fidget for long as Irene called for his attention.
“Now, James, normally I would charge you the usual rate, but seeing as how she had her stuff stolen, I’ll take fifty-percent off.” Irene explained, writing down something on a sheet of paper.
“Well that’s awfully kind of you, Irene.”
The woman huffed. “Don’t get smart with me, Buchanan or I will charge you in full.”
Bucky raised his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright. I’ll stop.”
Irene wrote a couple more things down, then turned a clipboard towards the tall brunette. “Sign here, and here and I’ll get these wrapped up for you, Honey.” She said to Y/N, already pulling on a roll of brown paper and wrapping the outfits she picked out.
It took another few minutes eventually though, they bid the older woman farewell, not before she playfully scolded Bucky to ‘take care of her.’
Being out with a pair of clothes that fit the times actually made Y/N feel a little more at ease. Now there wouldn’t be any more random strangers staring at her like she was an eyesore.
To be fair, it did nothing to release the painful ache in her heart.
Her thoughts ran rampant on all the small things that her and Bucky had done together back in her modern time. Happiness was the usual feeling that accompanied it but today, sadness tugged at her instead.
The screwed up thing was that she was with Bucky right now, but she couldn’t be with him like that. It felt like in some way, the world was teasing her. In reality, the notion of going home was futile because she had no clue if it was possible to get back home and if it wasn’t then what would she do?
Would she live out the rest of her days in time that she had no business being in? Live her entire life in love with a man she could never touch or hold?
She knew she’d never be able to live a life that way.
But how were things going to go from here on out? What were they going to look like? She wondered.
Y/N didn’t know it, nor could she, but right now in a time far away, a single man was wondering the exact same thing.

Heart of Stone - ch 14
The next day Unsuur woke to his alarm as usual and as he rolled onto his side to sit up the blanket fell away, leaving the heart knot on his wrist in full view; he felt his own heart swell up at the sight of it - he and Dawn were together now. He'd never been happier in his life. It filled him with an energy that propelled him out of bed and through his morning routine in record time, and even the stiff collar on his new jacket didn't dim his mood as he stepped outside and took a deep breath of fresh air; it was clean and still rain-scented, with a healthy underlying hint of drying dirt and the promise of all the flowers that would start showing up later this afternoon. Dawn was going to love it. ((Continued below cut))
--------------------------
He stopped by briefly on his first patrol; she had been at her fence reading through some mail and had waved and greeted him cheerfully. She had a busy day ahead of her forging whatever robot contraption Qi had designed -- he saw the blueprints and it honestly looked like a toy so he still wasn't sure how it would help build the bridge quicker but trusted that Dawn, Qi, and Heidi knew what they were talking about.
After that it felt like he was gliding through the rest of his morning; today all his usual daydreams kept circling back to Dawn and what the future might hold. Maybe it was too soon to think about THE future but he couldn't help himself -- everything he could picture now had Dawn as part of it too. He'd be deputy, and she'd be the best builder in Sandrock, and everything was only going to get better. Getting lost and winding up here was officially the second-best thing that had ever happened to him.
As he wanted her to have time to eat lunch before they went for their walk he waited until late in the afternoon to go back. She was at a machine that had a large hammer and anvil as its main features, and between her hands was some kind of metal panel that she was ever-so-precisely moving underneath the pounding hammer to curve it bit by bit around the anvil's horn. When he got closer he noticed the thick gloves and could smell heated metal; whatever she was working on must be very hot so he was careful to keep his distance while moving to where she could see him without needing to take her eyes off the machine. She saw him and smiled and finished off the piece in her hands, stepping over to lay it on the corner of the assembly platform before peeling her gloves and safety glasses off.
"Well hello there. Time got away from me," she laughed, fanning her hands at her sides - to cool them down or maybe dry them off, he assumed.
"Hi. Ready for a walk?"
"Definitely. I've been smelling everything all morning and can't wait to see which flowers are making which scents."
He held out his hand and after giving her hands a quick wipe on her pants she took it, falling into step beside him and briefly leaning her head against his arm -- if only he had a third arm on that side so he could hold her hand and also put an arm around her.
Wait... He'd look very weird and people would probably run away from him if he did, so maybe it was better that he had a normal number of arms. Just holding her hand now was fine.
"How's the robot turning out?"
Tipping her head back she partly groaned, partly sighed. "It's proving to be a massive pain in the butt to assemble. It looks stupid and there's a few parts of it - mostly the outer shell - that seems less like a lifter robot and more something meant to be driven into battle. I'll be glad when I'm done with the thing."
Unsuur frowned -- battle? "But, you're not building it for battle. Right?"
"I'M not, no. There's no weapons or anything on it, it's just got a thicker body than I think it needs considering it's just a glorified robot shell that's meant to lift heavy things - like he's sneaking armor into the design. There's obviously some thickness needed to help with structural integrity -- you don't want it crumpling under too much weight or not properly counter-balancing what it's lifting or whatever. But this..."
"Justice and I can keep an eye on how it's being used once you're finished building it," he said.
"Seeing how, um, weird Qi was being about it that's probably a good idea."
"Any idea how much longer it'll take to build it?"
"I've got everything I need for it so...assuming nothing else major comes up I could have it done in a few days." After a moment she grinned up at him. "Then I'll be free to go see that rock stack you mentioned."
"It's really great, I can't wait to show you."
"Speaking of being unable to wait to show something," Dawn said lightly. "I have something new I'd like to show you when we get back."
"Do I get a hint?"
"I turned the rose quartz you gave me into something -- something I'll eventually wear, just not when I'm working so I don't damage or lose it. I'd be pretty upset if I lost it," she added, pouting a little. "But, what I made out of it was inspired by you, so..."
Unsuur blinked at her. "By me? What'd I do?"
"You'll see."
It was a very pleasant walk - not all that different from one of his patrols, to be honest, but it was a hundred times better than a patrol - and while he would have loved to stay out there longer they both had jobs to get back to. When they got back to the workshop he followed her inside and sat down on the couch while she retrieved a wooden box polished to a sheen and with tiny blue flowers and a vine pattern painted across the lid from beneath her bed. Inside was a small collection of jewelry (it was mostly necklaces, hairpins, and combs, including the one she'd made with the opal he'd given her) and he spotted a glint of silver with a hint of pink.
She sat the box on the table and gently lifted out a necklace; hanging at regular intervals on the silvery chain were small rose quartz pieces shaped like little drops. She slipped it around her neck and made certain it was hanging straight then pulled a silver hair comb adorned with more of the rose quartz and tucked it into her hair above her ear, turning her head so he could see it clearly. It was an irregular shape, thicker on one side and tapered and thinned on the other, with a wavy, irregular lower edge sort of like...
It looked sort of like a dripping swipe of paint. -- oh.
She laughed quietly when he realized. "Can you guess what inspired me?"
"I can. That's pretty clever, and now you'll have that little memory you can carry around with you. Maybe I should paint my walls more often now."
Smiling Dawn took the hair comb out and returned it and the necklace to the jewelry box. "I don't know, I kind of like the green in there."
"It is nice," he agreed. When she went to tuck the jewelry box back under the bed he stood up. "I should get back on patrol. I'll be back around with dinner later like always."
"Could you tell Owen he can definitely make this one the last free meal? I'll go personally thank him tomorrow but I won't be nearly as busy with this lifter as I was getting the trusses done."
"I can do that. See you in a little while."
She walked with him to the door and out into the yard, and when they paused to split off to the gate and back to the machines she stood on her tiptoes to give him a little peck on the cheek.
He quickly bent down to return the gesture. "-I'm going to start doing that more often so I don't fall behind."
"I didn't realize it was a competition," Dawn giggled.
"It's not, but if it is, I want to win," Unsuur replied, bending to kiss her again.
"Shoo," she jokingly scolded, blushing bright red as she gently pushed him toward the gate. "I'll see you at dinnertime."
"Later," he said, allowing himself to be moved a few steps before relenting and heading off under his own power. As he crossed the tracks he rubbed his fingers over the knot, smiling to himself, and continued on to quickly duck inside the saloon to talk to Owen; afterward he hurried down the street and took his usual route up toward the temple. Pen was coming down the stairs toward him so he scooted over to give them enough space to pass each other, and was surprised when Pen stepped into his path.
"So...you and the builder, huh? Whole town is talking about it."
Were they? Dang, that was quick. ...though, most of Sandrock had seen them together last night so maybe it shouldn't be a surprise. "Yeah. I'm really happy about it."
Pen wrinkled his nose briefly before forcing a smile. "I'm sure you are, and I'm sure everyone with their little gossip circles were rooting for you both or whatever, but, let me give you some advice buddy: enjoy it while it lasts."
Unsuur stared at him; he'd delivered that advice in much the same way as he always spoke - with that full-of-confidence bravado - but Pen's smile had shifted just enough to look...weird. "What do you mean?"
Pen sighed and looked around, like he was expecting eavesdroppers, then bent toward Unsuur and lowered his voice. "I've personally seen it happen with a dozen girls -- a way better man is going to carry her off and she won't even look back."
"You're wrong," Unsuur blurted out before he was fully aware of his mouth moving. "...you're wrong, she's not like that - we like each other a lot, and she wants to stay here in Sandrock. She told me that way before we became a couple."
"Girls say a lot of things," Pen said, straightening and carelessly waving a hand. "Just trying to keep you from being blindsided when it happens."
"It's not going to happen, but...thanks?" Unsuur said slowly.
Pen pushed passed him and continued down the stairs with a final "don't say I didn't warn you!" called over his shoulder.
Unsuur watched him go; the entire conversation had given him a strange feeling that he couldn't quite name. He didn't believe for an instant that Dawn would run off with someone else (and if Pen wanted to keep thinking that Unsuur couldn't really stop him - thinking incorrect facts wasn't a crime) but the whole thing had felt off. Was Pen jealous? ...that had to be it. Dawn had never liked Pen and he'd never seen her attempt to talk to him, only run away; she was pretty so Pen probably had a crush on her too, AND he knew the man wasn't fond of losing competitions.
Well, now that weird feeling had shifted to feeling a sort of pride in having Pen of all people jealous of him.
Shaking his head and tracing a finger along the wires in the knot he continued up the steps toward the temple.
---------------------------
Compared to the trusses Dawn got the robot lifter done quickly; it took about a day and a half to craft and assemble it, then she had delivered it to the bridge construction area and Unsuur hung around briefly to watch one of the men piloting it - he didn't think it seemed dangerous and Justice agreed, so they left the men to it and went about their business. A few days after that, when the bridge was "finished," Matilda let them know that an inspector would be arriving from Atara to make certain everything was good with the construction then finally the bridge would be re-opened and things would go back to normal.
This morning Justice was tagging along on Unsuur's usual route; yesterday Unsuur had spotted what he thought was a pack of rockyenarolls trying to establish a den way too close to the Wandering Y so after a quick morning meeting they'd started off from the Corps building and marched along the tracks. The construction crew was already at work and the rest of Sandrock was quiet - hardly anyone else was up this early aside from them and, once they were close enough to spot her, Dawn. Unsuur had planned to wave and keep going, since they had a job to do, but Justice didn't mind standing off at a distance and waiting for a few minutes to give him time to chat with her.
He greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and leaned against the fence to glance around the yard; every furnace was running but nothing was on the assembly platform now that the lifter had been moved. "Big plans for today?"
She shook her head. "More of a catch up day -- I've used a ton of metal and materials lately. It bothers me to not have a stock of stuff on hand so I'm taking the day off from commissions and getting some basic stuff restocked. How about you?"
"Justice and I need to chase off a pack of rockyenarolls. They're moving in too close to the ranch and we don't want them hunting Cooper's yakmel."
"It's...not a BIG pack, is it? Not too dangerous?" she asked, looking concerned.
"Not too big - maybe six of them. Nothing we can't handle."
She frowned, crossing her arms. "Yeah...but, be careful. I don't want to see you hurt."
"We'll be careful, promise. Maybe we could go for a ride later? Boulder needs to stretch his legs some."
"If I'm not buried in wire and screws, sure," she answered, smiling at him. "Be safe."
He was able to lean over the fence and give her a one-armed hug then stepped away with a wave and returned to Justice. They continued along the tracks and a sudden movement on the train platform drew Unsuur's eye -- there was a man there, laying on a bench. He was...sleeping, or something, and had rolled over and was balanced precariously on the bench's edge.
"Whoa, do you see that?" Justice asked, tensing beside him.
"He's really close to the tracks..." Unsuur said quietly, staring at the man. If he moved so much as an inch further he'd-
The man's balance tipped too far and he rolled clear off the bench AND the platform, and a split second later the warning blare of the train's whistle sounded. Somehow neither the whistle nor the impact of landing on the track woke the man.
"Train's comin'-" he gasped, breaking into a sprint.
Could he outrun a train? (Was it considered outrunning the train if they were moving toward each other?) His breath burned in his throat and his pulse was roaring in his ears as he raced for the man; when he reached him he didn't bother trying to stop and just let his hands grab whatever they latched on to and used his momentum to hurl them both to the side where they hit the ground and rolled several feet before coming to a stop as the train rolled up to the platform where they'd been only seconds before. It was only then that Unsuur felt a startled huff of air against his neck from the man sprawled under him, and as he crawled off he was greeted by the man's look of sleepy confusion. The hiss of the train's engine drowned out whatever the man tried to say as he slowly sat up and looked around; as the hissing began to taper off he could make out the sound of approaching footsteps and was almost bowled over as Dawn threw herself down beside him, grabbing his arm.
"Are you ok?!"
"Yeah, I'm ok. Maybe a few bruises," he answered, finally looking himself over. His heart was still racing, his jacket sleeve was stained and smeared with dirt, his hip kind of hurt where he'd landed on his ammo pouch (he checked to make sure he hadn't just spilled bullets everywhere but thankfully the pouch had remained closed). His gun was still in its holster and the safety still on as well.
Justice skidded to a halt a few feet away, looking him and the stranger over before letting out a relieved-sounding sigh. "Nice one, buddy. I was, uh, just about to do that..."
"Huh? What's going on?" the man mumbled, rubbing his head and blinking blearily.
Their tumble away from the tracks had left the stranger with a minor scrape on his chin; if he hadn't just saved his life Unsuur would feel a little bad about it.
Dawn turned toward the man with a glare, hands on her hips. "Who exactly are you and why were you on the tracks?!"
The man looked surprised at her glare and sharp tone. "All I remember is... I was feeling sleepy when I got off the train last night, and... Oh, I'm Mint. I was sent here by the Ataran government to inspect a railway bridge." He scooted away on his backside and then stood up, brushing himself off. "Where can I find City Hall? I'm supposed to talk with Mayor Trudy."
Before Unsuur could answer Justice stepped into the space between him, Dawn, and Mint, fixing the inspector with a stern look. "Hold your horses, pal, you're not getting off that easy. I don't care if you're the Deacon of Meidi, here in Sandrock everybody subscribes to a little tenet called 'responsibility.' What if we hadn't shown up? You'd be in the hospital right now, at best."
Mint at least looked a little sheepish at that and rubbed a hand against the back of his neck.
Justice huffed, shaking his head. "Next time you feel like taking a nap check your surroundings! Ask yourself questions like: am I near any heavy machinery? Am I in a den of monsters? Do I smell gas? This line of thinking may save your life one day, 'cause we're not always gonna be there. You got it?"
"Er... I'm sorry, sir. I'll try to be more careful from now on," Mint answered quietly.
"Yeah, you do that," Justice said after another moment or two of stern staring, then he relaxed a bit and shifted to offer Unsuur and Dawn both a hand each to help them up. "All's well that ends well, I guess. Dawn, me and Unsuur need to get after those rockyenarolls, can you do me a solid and take the inspector here to City Hall? I'd feel a lot better if you went along, considering the circumstances," he added with a final warning glare at the man.
Dawn let him help her back to her feet and nodded. "I can do that. Be careful, you two."
Unsuur got up and Justice clapped a hand on his back in approval, then they moved around Mint and started down the tracks again. Behind him he could hear Mint apologizing again and Dawn replying, though Dawn was too quiet for him to hear clearly.
That had been uncomfortably close -- for both of them, to be honest. He hoped he never had to do that again.
--------------------------
Dawn was busily assembling something new when Unsuur walked by on his way home for lunch; the rockyenarolls had luckily only just started digging out a den and hadn't put up much of a fight when he and Justice went to run them off -- none of them looked pregnant so Unsuur didn't feel too bad scaring them away and denying them a safe home. There were loads of places further out in the Eufala they could settle in, without needing to worry about animal-on-human violence (or vice versa - they were seen as deadly pests more often than not and a lot of the surrounding villages shot them on sight).
"There's the hero of the day," she greeted him, smiling widely but not moving away from the platform.
Being called a hero made him feel a little self-conscious, but also it was a nice feeling too. "Just doing my duty. What are you building now?"
She was smoothly sliding two lengths of bronze pipe together; one was thinner so it would fit inside the other and could be tightened with a bolt threaded through a metal cuff set into the larger one's end. The thinner one was capped with a rubber foot and he could see two more identical pieces sitting nearby, next to an odd-looking gadget about the size of his backpack. From just looking at it Unsuur didn't recognize what it was.
Dawn's smile soured a bit at the question then she shook her head and moved the partially finished whatever-it-was in front of her. "Well, along with almost getting himself killed our bridge inspector also forgot to bring the equipment he needed to inspect the bridge."
Unsuur stared at her. "...I can't tell if you're joking."
"I'm not."
"Oh." Are we sure this guy is the real inspector? Maybe he or Justice should verify that...somehow.
He looked back at the thing on the assembly platform; there was some kind of viewing or measuring machine connected to a wide swivel, that then connected to a tripod made up of the bronze pipes for legs. With the third leg complete Dawn gently laid the device on its side and began attaching the legs to the bottom of the swivel.
"So...then, is this thing what he forgot to bring?"
"Yep," Dawn grunted, grabbing a brass-headed hammer and first tapping the bottom of the rubber foot of the leg in hand then tapping all around the opening the leg fit into. "Qi, somehow, had the needed blueprints sitting around."
"Wow. You built that really quick."
She blushed and smiled up at him again. "Through sheer dumb luck, anyway. I was able to scrounge the rest of what I needed out of the salvage yard in record time with Venti's help. Won't take me long to finish up the last few pieces that go inside, then test all the power connections are working...then try not to beat Mint over the head with it when I go to give it to him," she added dryly.
"You're determined to have me arrest you."
"Maybe I am," she said slyly after a moment, winking at him and reaching for another leg.
Though she'd said it with some confidence her face turned a bright shade of red, and Unsuur's ears felt hot. "Uh... Oh, will you need to do anything else once you finish this? Will the bridge be officially done?"
"It should be, yeah. Can finally put all that behind us," she sighed, sounding relieved. "I don't want to have to do anything like this again." With some more hammer taps she got the remaining legs attached then flipped the device upright and tested the range of the swivel; it moved smoothly and silently, and she nodded in satisfaction. "Shouldn't take me too much longer. Maybe we could make it an evening ride? ...makes me wonder if I should get a horse," she mused after a moment. "When we went out gathering materials back in Atara we had pack horses we borrowed to help haul everything back -- never got to ride them, only lead, but it was really helpful having them carrying the bulk of the weight, and they were so sweet and calm too."
"Boulder is a nice horse. Just don't have any snacks in your pockets or he might try to fit his nose somewhere it doesn't belong. Or pick you up... He did that to Burgess once and I had to pay to replace the pair of pants he tore when Boulder picked him up by the back pocket trying to get at the bag of dried sandberries he was carrying around."
Dawn started laughing; it was such a nice sound, he loved it. "I'm at least much lighter than Burgess so maybe my clothes won't tear but I'll keep that in mind - no snacks."
"I should get home to eat lunch but I'll be back tonight with Boulder," he said, waving as he hurried on toward his house.
Boulder would be happy for a chance to stretch his legs doing something other than patrolling around; he took him out on walks and rides as often as he could (and sometimes Cooper would let him set him loose in the yakmel paddock so he could free-roam for awhile) but he still felt guilty leaving him in the stable so much. Would his saddle comfortably seat two? There'd never really been a reason to think about it before...but he was reasonably certain that two-seater saddles weren't a thing, or at least weren't something he could go out and buy on such short notice.
Dawn was small, at least; she should easily fit behind him, if there wasn't enough space in front of him. He'd need to remember an extra blanket...
-------------------------------------
It was much later than he'd intended when he headed back to Dawn's; though it was rare to get thieves in Sandrock he and Justice had spent the rest of the day chasing down a man who had snatched an armload of Arvio's goods and taken off across the as-of-yet-not-open bridge, blowing right passed a startled Mint and his bridge-testing device. Justice had been close enough to actually see the theft and Unsuur had been coming down the stairs from the temple when he heard the shouting. Justice had taken off on his horse with Unsuur hurrying to saddle up Boulder and follow, and then once he'd reached the bridge he could see Justice pursuing not just the one thief but a group of three fleeing on horses on the far end of the bridge.
Logan might be THE famous bandit in this area but there were still plenty of petty bandits that could be found lurking along the trade routes between the outlying villages; they apparently weren't one of the more successful groups, a fact that became all the more apparent as he and Justice quickly caught up and with some creative lassoing took them all off the backs of their horses - the horses looked dangerously skinny and the bandits didn't look that much better off.
They'd tied the bandits up and got them back on the backs of their horses then led the entire group back to town; Justice marched them into the jail cell then started to sort the stolen goods and fill out the intake paperwork while Unsuur led the poor horses over to Cooper's.
Then, finally, he was free to head over to Dawn's.
She was sitting on a stool to the left of her front door, a book open in her lap; though the air still smelled of hot metal she'd changed out of her work clothes and was wearing regular jeans and a simple teal t-shirt, and as he trotted Boulder up to the gate she closed the book with a smile.
"Sorry, Justice and I got caught up in something."
"It's all right. You won't get in trouble if you're here with me and not helping him, will you?"
Unsuur shook his head. "I left at the paperwork step - he doesn't really need my help with that."
Quickly she ducked inside and seemed to trade the book for a small cloth pouch, hurrying over to the gate; Boulder's ears immediately pricked up at her approach, and the horse craned his neck forward to start sniffing at her.
Dawn laughed softly and reached out with her free hand to pat his nose. "I know I said no snacks but in my defense they're not in my pocket." She dumped a small handful of dried sandberries into her palm and held her palm out, flat, for Boulder; the horse quickly slurped up the berries and nosed her fingers looking for more. She emptied the sack into her palm and held her hand out again and Boulder ate the rest just as quickly.
After that run across the bridge and almost passed the old outpost Boulder deserved a treat; Unsuur waited for the horse to confirm for himself that Dawn did not have any more snacks before he maneuvered him around so Dawn could mount up.
"Do you want to sit in front of me or behind me?"
"Um... I think it'll have to be behind," she answered after a moment. "Elsie gave me some really basic riding lessons so I know how I'd get on by myself but my brain is going blank on how to swing my leg over with you there too."
"...would you rather sit in front?"
"I... yeah, kind of."
With that Unsuur slipped off the horse and held the reins, gesturing for Dawn to mount; once she was settled he got on behind her.
Yeah, this wasn't so bad; they both fit rather comfortably on the saddle together and he slid an arm around her waist to help hold her steady as he guided Boulder away from the gate. They set off at an easy trot, passing the oasis and heading for the new bridge. Mint wasn't there this time so he supposed the bridge inspection was done with and they'd hear the official news soon; it was a much calmer ride across this time and once they were over he felt Dawn shift against him, turning her head to look up at Gecko Station.
"Haven't been any signs of the Geeglers returning, has there?"
"Nope. Pen was checking daily for awhile and kept reporting no signs of any kind of life left in the station. He seemed really disappointed he didn't get to fight any of them."
She huffed. "Of course he would be..."
Now that he'd mentioned Pen their conversation from before came to mind, about a 'better man' coming in to carry Dawn off to somewhere better than Sandrock. It hadn't bothered him too much then but now that he was thinking about it again, staring at Gecko Station and thinking of Dawn's brush with death...
"Since it's empty of Geeglers does that mean Justice will open up the ruins soon? Maybe it'll attract people back to town... I saw a lot of interesting things down there, in between fighting for our lives. Lots of iron too - more than enough to build a bridge and then some. If only we'd had easier access to get at it...it would have taken ages to get all the needed scrap across the canyon using the cable cars. But! At least now if anything else big needs to be built or needs repair, it'd be just a short jaunt across Shonash bridge."
She kept talking as he replayed that scene in his mind - of her and Justice falling and the cable snapping. That had been awful, and there were loads more ways to seriously injure oneself in the desert...maybe a better guy wouldn't be the reason Dawn decided to leave: what if she decided it was too dangerous to stay?
"You ok?"
Dawn's voice cut through his train of thought. "Oh, uh. Yeah. Sorry. What did you say?"
She shifted in the saddle to look back at him. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." She frowned at him. "...it's nothing. Just something Pen had said that came to mind."
"That...Pen said? What exactly did he say?" she asked, nose wrinkling.
"You... You still want to stay in Sandrock, right? Despite all the bad stuff that's happened?"
For several moments she stared at him silently, seeming confused by the question. "I- yes, of course I do! Why? Don't tell me Pen is spreading rumors that I'm going to leave?"
Unsuur shook his head. "No. Well, not exactly. Just-" He really, really didn't want to repeat him verbatim right now. "-that you might move on to somewhere way better than here. I know you've already said you wanted to stay in Sandrock so I shouldn't be worrying but--"
Letting out a groan she tipped her face toward the sky. "That stupid meathead... I have no intentions of going anywhere, Unsuur, I promise. I don't even plan on going on vacation! Whatever Pen's said, he's wrong." She turned back around and leaned into his chest, sliding her hand over his where it rested on her hip. "I have a home here, a boyfriend, and a job...pretty much everything I was looking for in life. I'm not giving this up so easily." After a pause she tilted her head back against him, smiling. "Sorry, you're stuck with me."
He smiled and lowered his chin to rest it atop her head, prompting a giggle fit. "Sounds good to me. And, yeah, I really didn't hear what you said."
"I was asking if Justice would open up Gecko Station, and musing on how nice that'd be."
"Oh, yeah. Justice did actually mention something about a final check of the place last week but he said it would have to wait until the bridge was finished. So...now that it's finished, it shouldn't be too long before we go in to make sure it's really safe."
They fell into a comfortable silence; everything was nice and peaceful out this way -- not even the tripions were paying them any attention and were happily sifting through the sand in their own little worlds. Unsuur directed Boulder up the hill and out passed the front of Gecko Station and the old outpost, heading for the open dunes. Far off to their right was the canyon with its impressive view of the rocky walls studded with Old World ruins; sometimes it boggled the mind to consider how big cities must have been back then -- Unsuur had seen single rooms inside ruins that could have comfortably held the entire population of Sandrock.
Of course, big cities meant a lot of people, and the Calamity had wiped out...a lot of people. That wasn't so nice to think about.
"-what are those?" Dawn asked then, bringing him back to the present.
She leaned forward a bit, pointing ahead; Unsuur looked that way and could see a small pack of penskies playing on top of one of the dunes. "Those are penskies. They're friendly -- too friendly, sometimes. Justice calls it 'aggressive affection' I think. Don't ever feed them or you'll get mobbed - they won't hurt you on purpose but being jumped on and licked by a big group of critters with hard heads and sharp claws on their feet isn't fun."
"Noted," she said with a quiet little laugh. "They're cute though!"
"Yeah, they are. I think Grandma Vivi used to sell stuffed animal penskies but the yakmels were more popular. Probably because you could walk out to the ranch to see and pet them but a pensky meant you had to come all the way out here."
He steered Boulder to the left to avoid the dune and penskies and a stretch of sand crowned with a gigantic rib cage bleached white by the sun and pitted and worn down by years of wind came into view - along with an unexpected resident sitting on top of it staring intently in their direction.
"Uh oh..."
Dawn stiffened against him. "Uh oh...what? What's 'uh oh'?"
Whoops. He hadn't meant to say that out loud but at least now she'll see and know about one of the desert's bigger dangers. "Do you see that big rib cage over there?"
"Yes, I- what is that on top of it?"
"That...is a dive buzzard," Unsuur answered. "And they're the most dangerous single creature in this area."
He felt Dawn's hand tighten over his. "It looks big even at this distance -- that thing must be huge."
"That's actually one of the smaller ones."
"What?!" she squeaked, shrinking back against him. "You're kidding!"
Though it was on the "smaller" side for a dive buzzard it was still big enough to make out its details easily: enormous body and wingspan with billowy, hair-like feathers covering its head and gathered into clumps that looked like pigtails on either side of its face. This one had found a pair of goggles somewhere and had them around its neck and was wearing what looked like air or gas tanks on its back; he'd seen them wearing shiny bits of robots and other debris before too.
"I wish I was. They're mean, whether they're big or not. They roam the desert looking for food and consider any place they happen to be at that moment to be their territory. Always be wary of any shadows that pass by overhead -- you might have guessed by their name but they attack by diving down on their targets. The REALLY big ones can snap yakmel spines if they land their dive, and if they miss they'll kick up a big cloud of sand to cover their next try. Usually they don't come this close to town... I need to go get Justice and Pen and we'll drive it off. Or, kill it." Odds were high they'd have to kill it. "Sorry, but we'll have to cut our ride short."
"It's ok, there's always another day."
The ride back into Sandrock was at a quicker pace and luckily Unsuur spotted Pen standing in town square; he trotted Boulder up toward him and stopped a few feet away, slipping down to help Dawn out of the saddle.
"Spotted a dive buzzard-" he started, only for Pen to perk up and slam one fist into his palm.
"FINALLY something almost worthy of my attention! Where?"
"-out passed the old outpost," Unsuur continued. "Have you seen Justice?"
Pen scoffed at that and walked around the other side of Boulder, breaking into a jog and heading for the bridge. "Please, I don't need him! Leave it to me!"
Normally Unsuur would trust to the man's skill - he WAS really good at fighting - but not when it came to dive buzzards. "I should catch up to him. Can you find Justice and tell him where we are?"
Dawn nodded. "I will. Be careful -- and, um, when you're done, how about we have dinner together instead? I'll cook."
"Sure. I'll be back as soon as I can, and I'll be careful, I promise."
Unsuur bent to kiss her cheek as she rose up to kiss his and they almost-but-not-quite met awkwardly in the middle; Dawn's breath was warm against his skin as she laughed softly, then gingerly pressed her lips to his instead.
It was the best feeling in the world. He wanted to do that again but there was a loud 'AHEM' from nearby and Unsuur pulled back to find Miguel standing there, an eyebrow raised.
"Uh... I should go. And find Pen. Like I said I would."
"Y-yeah, don't let me keep you. And sorry, pastor," Dawn added, pressing the back of her hand to her lips, face a bright red. She turned on her heel and rushed off down the street; Justice was usually coming in from the ranch area around this time of day so hopefully she'd run into him quickly.
Unsuur knew his face was also sporting a blush and hurried to hop onto Boulder and head for Shonash bridge again. Boulder let out a grumpy-sounding whinny as his hooves touched the stonework running along the track and Unsuur patted him reassuringly.
"Sorry, I know you don't like walking the same path over and over. It's really not so bad once you're used to it. Lots of time to daydream," he said, leaning in close to the horse's neck and urging him into a faster gallop.
Once more out in front of Gecko Station Unsuur could spot Pen running ahead of him, cutting a direct path for the rib cage where the buzzard was still quite visible sitting and surveying the area. The remaining sunlight glinted off the goggles around its neck as it spotted Pen coming and spread its wings, flapping a few times before taking flight.
That wasn't good -- Pen was technically a smaller target than Unsuur and the horse so the buzzard would probably ignore him in favor of the bigger potential meal. Turning Boulder around he directed him to the side of Gecko Station, hopping off and leading him to a spot where the stairs that lead up to the cable car landing would shield him from any sudden buzzard attacks. "I don't want you getting hurt so wait here until I come back, all right?" He tied the reins loosely to a pipe sticking out of the ground - it hadn't budged at all when he grabbed and pulled on it so it would suffice as an impromptu hitching post for now and the knot wasn't so tight that the horse couldn't yank himself free if he needed to flee.
The sound of an approaching horse reached him as he dashed back out toward the open dunes; Justice was galloping toward him and Unsuur waved at him.
"It's in the air, sheriff!"
"Got it, let me-" Justice called back in a rush, not finishing the sentence and accidentally showering Unsuur with kicked up sand as he abruptly changed Truth's trajectory to run him over toward where Boulder was sheltering.
With Justice warned Unsuur hurried after Pen, keeping one eye on where he was running and one on the skies above.
-------------------------------
The door had barely opened when Dawn threw herself into his arms for a tight hug then just as quickly pulled away, eying him up and down.
"You're ok? No injuries?"
"I'm fine." And that was true - aside from maybe bruising his knees when he'd stumbled he had come out of that buzzard fight unscathed, and so had Pen and Justice too. "It didn't put up much of a fight. Pen punched it a few times when it dove down at us, and Justice and I each shot it once. I don't think we hurt it badly enough that it'll die but after it got shot it did fly away and didn't come back."
"Will it come back later though?"
"I'm not sure. Pen said he'll keep an eye out for it and finish it off. I didn't want to kill it if we didn't have to but Justice said that B3, the sheriff before him, had told stories about how they sometimes even attacked the trains as they came into town so we can't let it stay this close to Sandrock. If that means we have to kill it then...we have to kill it. I was expecting we'd have to but it doesn't mean I like it."
She frowned at that. "I agree about not wanting to kill anything needlessly but nothing about these things sounds pleasant to to coexist with..." Shaking her head Dawn stepped backwards through the doorway and pulled the door open wider; Unsuur could smell potatoes and rice and what he thought was fish, and his stomach growled loudly enough that Dawn heard it. "Come on, it's just about ready," she giggled, gesturing for him to step inside.
The table was already set with plates and silverware and a folded trio of tea towels in the middle, and those delightful smells grew stronger now that he was mere feet away from the stove where he could see two covered pots on the burners and that the oven was on, and sitting on the counter nearby was that little tin timer ticking away steadily. She put a pitcher of chilled water on the table and Unsuur filled both their glasses before downing half of his; his scalp itched with sweat and sand and he was looking forward to cleaning up once he got back home.
Dawn lifted a lid off a pot and stirred its contents briefly - a sweet scent wafted out. "After I found Justice Matilda caught me heading home and said the bridge passed inspection -- not that I expected it would fail, but it was nice to get the official word. She wants to have an opening ceremony for it first thing in the morning."
"Really? That seems kind of short notice."
She laughed and turned off the burner, then moved that pot over to a cold burner. "I guess it is, sort of, but on the other hand I don't see anyone having anything better to do since they've all been watching and waiting for the bridge to be done-" the timer went off then and she jumped slightly, reaching over to turn it off. "-so I bet the whole town shows up."
Out of the oven came two covered pans, one narrow and oblong and the other a rounded square shape; she sat them on folded tea towels on the table and removed the lids to reveal fragrant, poached sandfish in a cloudy broth and a spicy-smelling dish made of cubes of potato and diced leek and peppers. It all smelled really good but he was curious about why there was one tea towel left on the table but two pots on the stove top.
Of those two pots Dawn moved one to the table and the other (the one that had smelled sweet) was left on the cold burner on the back of the stove; inside the one on the table was rice flavored with green flecks of herbs.
"I hope I didn't accidentally make something you don't like."
"You didn't, don't worry. There really aren't any foods I don't like, maybe because my parents made me try everything when I was a baby. No refusing food in their household."
"That sounds familiar," she said, laughing a bit as she gestured for him to serve himself. "Though no amount of feeding them to me has ever made me like raw onions or the green kind of olives."
"I have no idea what an olive even is," he replied, carefully lifting a delicate sandfish filet out of the pan and managing to get it onto his plate without dripping the broth everywhere or breaking the piece apart. "What do they taste like?"
"Disgusting by themselves," Dawn said dryly. "They're salty and briny and bitter, and burn the tip of my tongue. I tried some that had been cured with herbs and garlic once and those were tolerable but the oiliness was kind of a turn off."
They both filled their plates and got to eating; he had no idea what she'd put in the rice but it was amazing - ALL of it was good but he especially liked how simple yet how delicious that rice was. He could definitely see himself eating that alongside a bowl of yellow soup if he could get the recipe and was about to ask her for it when he noticed a calendar hanging on the wall beside the door, with the dates marked through with a single line until today -- the 24th, and it reminded him of something.
"Did you ever get to speak to the Mysterious Man?"
"Hmm? Oh, no, not yet. With everything that's been going on I've missed his visits - I'll hopefully get to see him next month. At the very least I'll have a lot more time to make jewelry, and Amirah has more time as well."
That was right...she had mentioned Amirah the last time too. "What does she need time for?"
Dawn stabbed at a bite of potato. "Well... You know those glaze drips she brought me?" Unsuur nodded. "The kiln she has will harden glaze if it's by itself but not when it's on ceramic pieces. She's tried all sorts of glazes that would supposedly work with lower temperatures but so far she's not had any work properly. She needs an electric kiln - the big, fancy ones you'd find in Walnut Groove or Atara, and those things are expensive even if you're just buying the blueprints. Then, there's me: I need a specific type of furnace that can both reach the super high temperature needed to melt glass while also maintaining a set temperature while I'm working with it. The furnaces I have right now can get hot enough but I don't have precise control over the temperatures... I know Qi could likely design me a furnace but it just so happens that the kiln Amirah needs shares a lot of the components the furnace would need. It'd be easier on everyone if we just buy the blueprint, I build Amirah her kiln, and let Qi alter the blueprint for what I need."
Aha. "So Amirah needs time to sell more, so she can afford to at least buy the blueprint."
She nodded. "Exactly. The plan at the moment is to split the cost, assuming we can convince the Mysterious Man get us a copy. I don't see it being a problem though," she added, tone light and with the barest hint of superiority underlying it. "He and I have worked together before so he knows I'm good for whatever price he sets."
"What about Amirah?"
Dawn slowly inhaled and finally stuck that bite of potato into her mouth, chewing thoroughly and swallowing. "...that might be trickier. He doesn't think very highly of her work even though he's bought a few of her complex, complicated pieces. Those took her days of work each to make so it's not feasible for her to concentrate on making the complex goods, and he thinks her regular work is boring and has told her as much. If it was just Amirah asking him to bring her the kiln blueprints, even if she had the full cost on hand, I don't actually think he'd do so. I don't doubt that he'd do it for me though."
"That seems a bit rude."
"He can be, yeah," she sighed. "But, he's successful, and knows what he's talking about along with having a good eye for what will sell, how well, and when it'll be in demand. It doesn't excuse being outright rude but...sometimes knowing ahead of time that what you're doing isn't going to pay off at that moment can save everyone some headache."
Once the main course was done Dawn moved the empty dishes over to the counter and brought out two clean bowls, then moved that last covered pot from the stove over to the table; she tested its temperature by pressing her bare hands to the sides of the pot and with a satisfied nod lifted the lid to reveal a creamy rice porridge.
"Owen gave me a few ideas on how to make yakmel milk work with this recipe so here's my first attempt."
"It smells nice," Unsuur said as she got a serving spoon and dipped it into the pot.
She gave the spoon a little swirl and quickly lifted it out with a heaping helping of the rice and placed it immediately into the bowl in front of him; for a few seconds it held a lovely rounded shape before slowly spreading out, and there was still some steam rising from it. It reminded him of something he'd had before; maybe his parents had made something like this when he was really little since he didn't remember it clearly but it sure seemed familiar, and homey, and overall had a comforting feeling just from the smell. Dawn handed him a clean spoon and, after testing the temperature with a quick probe of his tongue, he stuck a bite into his mouth.
It was soft, creamy, and delicately sweet, and there wasn't too much of a yakmel funk to it until you swallowed; Dawn was watching for his reaction as he spooned up another bite. "It's good. I like it."
"Phew," she sighed, smiling and taking a bite herself. "--hmm. Aside from the aftertaste it's almost there. It's not right, technically, but it's close."
"What did you do differently than normal?"
"I had to scald it to infuse some sweeter flavors into it. Owen wasn't certain if it'd completely cover up how strong the milk is so he gave me a few different 'recipes' to try, and also suggested using sand date or the sandberry chestnut milks and adjusting the sugar to account for it. I think those would be TOO sweet though, but I'll still give them a try."
"Me too," Unsuur said, smiling and getting a little smile in return.
They finished up and Unsuur helped with dishes, and it wasn't until he'd headed out through her gate that he remembered he'd meant to ask for the savory rice recipe. Oh well -- he'd see her tomorrow in the morning at the bridge ceremony.
It was a nice night out so he decided to take the longer walk home and as he crossed the tracks he spotted Pen standing at the commerce building, leaning against one of the posts of the front overhang; while Pen's pose seemed intended to appear casual there was a stiffness to it, like he was ready to move at a moment's notice. "The dive buzzard didn't come back already, did it?"
It was several seconds before Pen responded. "No, unfortunately... Cowardly featherbag is still nowhere to be seen. More's the pity - I barely felt my heart rate pick up during the battle."
"Oh." So at least he wasn't waiting for Unsuur because they had to head back out into the Eufala. "Then...was there something else over here?"
Pen let out a soft grunt. "If only. I thought I saw a shadow on the horizon but couldn't track down what I might have seen."
Unsuur glanced back the way he'd come; Dawn's workshop was still and dark aside from the soft yellow light coming through the window. "When did you see something?"
"Doesn't matter. Wasn't even a hint or a trace of anything worthwhile. Don't worry your little head over it," Pen grumbled.
...if there was something lurking around Dawn's place, or the salvage yard, that sounded like something to worry about, but if there WAS something dangerous out there Pen would have already gone out to beat it up without bothering to tell anyone first. "...all right then. See ya."
"Hmmph."
Unsuur continued up the road and passed by Miguel sitting on the saloon's upper porch, offering him a wave as he walked by; he was sitting with one leg propped over the other and his arms crossed, relaxed and looking comfortable, and lifted the fingers of a hand from where they curled around his arm in a sort of wave in return. If he was still disappointed in that public display of affection earlier he didn't show it or seem inclined to lecture him about it as he continued on.
Once he reached his doorstep Unsuur paused and vigorously rubbed his hands through his hair to dislodge all the sand, then had to take his jacket off and shake it since he'd done those two things in the wrong order. After he was sufficiently dusted off he took one last look out toward Dawn's -- he really hoped Pen had just been seeing things but it was nice to know that he was keeping an eye out for Dawn's safety too.
Heading inside he tossed his jacket over a chair and began undressing on his way to the bathroom; if there was going to be a ceremony celebrating the bridge tomorrow he should probably fully clean up tonight so he looked his best for Dawn tomorrow. She and Mi-an deserved to be recognized for that crazy amount of work they did in such a short amount of time.

Letting Down Easy, a Young Justice fanfic
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Author: laysean87
Summary: Dinah goes to talk about what she saw Conner and M'gann on CCTV feed... and ends up getting a surprise.
Author's Notes: This takes place in S1 E21 "Image." A what-if situation where Black Canary talks to Superboy first before talking to Miss Martian. My attempt at comedy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mount Justice - Happy Harbor, RI November 22, 2010 9:42 A.M. EST
With fists in a tight clench, I turned the corner inside the long corridors of the cave, looking for Conner's room. By now, my initial shock at what I'd seen had ebbed considerably, although I still wanted to tell him I didn't approve of his and M'gann's actions.
I figured there would be certain unintended consequences when I decided to have more intimate one-on-one sparring sessions with the kids. I just didn't think it would lead to this with Conner. Of course, I knew the kid had been giving me looks before, and… okay, I admit that it was almost flattering that he saw me as more than just a mother-like figure. That he would be attracted to me in some way.
As flattered as I was that Conner had perhaps taken a shine to me, the fact was - I am already spoken for.
And after seeing security footage of what amounted to an adorable but troublesome shape-shifting kink with M'gann in the training room, I knew I had to put out the fire right now. Better to let him down easy.
I ended up at the front door of his living quarters, my inner voice tried to reason with me. Stay calm, Dinah. Go easy on him. He doesn't know any better. Breathe in. Breathe out.
I knocked on the panel door. His voice replied in that deep, husky voice of his. "Yeah?"
"This is Canary. We need to talk."
"About what?"
Well, I'm never one for beating the bush about something. So might as well get to the point. "Batman just showed me a video of what you and M'gann did yesterday."
"Could you be more specific?"
"In the training room?"
A beat passed before I heard him chuckle from the other side of the door. Almost sounded downright embarrassed. "Oh, yeah. That."
"Yeah, that. May I come in now?"
I heard a sigh before he said, "Um… sure thing, Canary."
The panel door slid open, and I entered Conner's living chambers.
As I approached where he sat on his bed, he seemed uncharacteristically flustered. He held something behind his back. I didn't think much of it, as I was more concerned about what he and M'gann did earlier on that video Bruce showed me.
"I wanna be fair to you, Conner," I began as I gave my best stern look at the young boy, "I know you're still technically a few months removed from being in that pod in Cadmus. I understand that you're still figuring things out about yourself and who you are. I understand that you may have developed something of a crush on me, like any young man who's a bundle of nerves and hormones would. So I don't blame you for that."
He didn't answer, but his face seemed torn about something. I didn't know whether he would act cool or blow up in my face. Even though he had shown signs of improvement ever since our therapy session - he wasn't as easy to anger - I still had to treat him with kid gloves.
"I also know you've only been dating M'gann for a few months now, and what you guys do in private is your business. But after seeing what happened yesterday, I felt that we needed to talk. Having her use her ability to shapeshift into whoever so that you two can play out some 'kink' fantasy is..." I stopped in mid-sentence, as he kept shifting away to keep what he was hiding behind his back. Each time I curiously tried to see whatever it was, he kept jerking away.
"Conner, what are you hiding?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips.
"Nothing."
Yeah, right. "People don't usually sit with their hands behind their back, Conner. Now, give."
He sighed and slowly reached down, slowly pulling what he had been holding up all along. I gasped when I saw what it was. A small bouquet of flowers — red roses, yet.
My jaw dropped. "Conner, I... I don't understand."
"These flowers..." he began in a nervous, shaky voice and his face a faint shade of red, "are for you... for being such an awesome trainer. For the Team, I mean." He paused before adding in a hesitant voice, "M'gann... suggested I should give 'em to you."
I almost wanted to cry at the gesture, especially after seeing the eager expression on his young face. "I'm touched, Conner," I said as I took the flowers as I took a swift intake of the smell. "Really, I am."
Conner looked away as he rubbed the back of his neck. "You deserve it, Black Canary."
"I do?"
"Of course!" He nodded, smiling. "I mean... you've helped the Team more than anyone else. You always go above and beyond for us."
I moved toward him and gently placed my arms around him as I squeezed him in a warm hug. He held me tight in return.
I whispered in his ear, "Thank you." It was a pleasant and sweet surprise, to be sure. It isn't every day I get a bouquet of flowers from one of my students, and for wanting to teach these kids about the importance of hand-to-hand combat. To say it was flattering would be an understatement.
And wouldn't you know it, by the time I returned home via the Zeta boom tube, I had completely forgotten all about the purpose for me wanting to talk to him in the first place.
I'm sure I don't have to tell you my reaction when I entered my bedroom. It hit me when I was in the middle of my personal favorite novel. "Damn it!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
As always, constructive criticism is appreciated. Thanks!

bringing it all back; @dxefillz
it was almost a mid year resolution of sorts for him to actually use their well earned break as an actual break. while was still up and running with reign promotions all the time outside of the schedule would be spent detoxing from the way the tour bore down on his health and mentality. malachi had also taken the opportunity to spend more time with dae. they’d finally solidified the rhythm between them, no long rocking along on violent waters trying to decipher their intrigued and murky lust for one another. it all had come to a head that night and the soloist had decided to take the reigns, even if was for a moment.
he settled the sliced chicken breasts into the pan, the sound of the hissing beneath them as the meat and its various seasonings hit the oiled surface joined their mundane domestic noises moving throughout the kitchen together. “if you could just go ahead and put that rice in the cooker? i already washed it, it’s in that bowl by the sink.” malachi asked her, not before pulling her close with a tattooed arm and planting a gentle kiss on her temple. these were the moments he cherished, getting to simply be at peace with someone who brought it to him so easily.
after awhile he flipped the slices, sharing the searing to the to the other side, the aroma of garlic and onion joining the cooking bird. “you know? my friend michael’s mom taught me how to make this?” he said to her leaning against the counter next to the stove as he waited. “she used to tell me, ‘now malachi if you burn my chicken i’ma burn your butt you hear me?’ every single time i tried to turn the burner up to make it cook faster.” a pleasant chuckle pushed through his pretty lips as he spoke, “i used to always answer, ‘but ms. kendrick i’m so hungry,’ and she would say, ‘maybe if you stopped running around this damn house you wouldn’t be so hungry at dinner time.’ which was true i hardly ever sat when i was over there, they had so much cool stuff compared to our apartment.”
once the chicken was finished searing he placed it into a deep, glass bowl readying pot to start the sauce before he could put them in the oven. as he did so, the little panel that allowed him to buzz guests in and out of his apartment beeped with the arrival of someone, the soloist furrowing his brows as he went to check it, only for a sickening wave to pulsate through him, settling into his stomach, taking away the appetite he deliberately worked up for this meal. “what the absolute fuck.” he mumbled, stopping for a moment to take a deep breath before he’d pressed the mic button. malachi smacked his lips with another sigh, clearing his throat before he spoke as if he was gearing up to sound tougher than he was. “what are you doing here?” he said in english, shuffling around being heard on the other side pushing through the speaker with static. “i c-, can i  come to my home country to visit my...son?” she’d asked on the other end her drawl dragged out beneath her inebriation, of what he could only imagine. malachi’s eyes flicked over to dae for a moment then back to the panel leaving the silence between the three of them as he racked his brain for what to say and do next.

Stray Kids Reaction | Uses Your Insecurities Against You [Request]
Tumblr media
`A/N: The anon is right by the way you’re all beautiful in every way possible, including the anon that requested this. I love you all! Stunning, beautiful peopl all of you! ~ M
CHAN: Insecurity: Clingy
Chan rubbed the bridge of his nose as he stared at the screen in front of him trying to grab some ideas from the air, he had been suffering with writer's block and it was starting to get to him. Normally if he was suffering with it he would call you over, you were his constant muse but this week he wanted nothing more than to be left alone. He was stressed from being put under pressure from his managers to finished a certain amount of songs, as well as making sure he and the rest of the boys were staying on top of their practice. Everything was just piling up on top of him and he didn't need you around to add to the pile, as much as he loved you being there he just needed some peace and quiet which he soon realised wasn't going to happen,
"Jisung told me you were feeling shitty so I bought your favourite snacks," Your voice that was normally heavenly to Chan only made him cringe as he realised you were here.
"Hey babe, do you mind coming back later? I really need to get this done," He turned around on his chair to face you, trying to get you to leave quickly before things went south but you stood your ground, placing the small basket of food down onto the coffee table.
"I also got your favourite hot drink, I figured you could use a pick me up." You began explaining everything that was in the basket but it only annoyed him more as you listed everything, ignoring his request for you to leave.
"We can sit on the sofa and eat while you relax for a while-"
"Fuck! Have you always been this clingy or is it just as of late?" Your heart sunk as you stared at Chan who was red in the face, it was now that you took in his dishevelled appearance it looked like he'd slept less than usual and he was clearly beating himself up over something so you let the comment pass.
"I was just- I wanted to make sure you were okay," Your voice cracked as you tried to get over the comment, moving closer to Chan who simply rolled away from you on the chair and shook his head at you.
"I want you to leave. You're so fucking clingy! I can't do anything without you being right there on top of me, it's exhausting having a partner who doesn't know what space is!" He was yelling loudly enough that the staff outside his studio had stopped speaking to hear what was happening in the office but you felt like you shrunk in size as he yelled at you so without another word you left him there. Chan knew how insecure you were about being considered clingy, your exes had all said the same thing to you so when you began dating Chan you told him about it, not wanting to have the same problem. You never thought, in a million years, that he of all people would use it against you.
(X)
Later that night there was a knock on your apartment door, thinking it was just the food you'd ordered for yourself you got up to answer it to see Chan standing there holding the basket of food with a giant smile on his face.
"What do you want?" You asked plainly as you stared behind him, hoping your pizza would arrive so you could take it and shut the door.
"To tell you how sorry I am," You scoffed rolling your eyes at him,
"You know exactly how insecure about that I am and you still-" You began sobbing as you thought back on what he said, all he did was wrap his arms around you tightly. Pulling you into a hug, his hugs were the answers to all of your problems, no matter what you were going through as long as he hugged you everything else seemed to be insignificant to you.
"You know how insecure I am about that," You managed to say through sniffles as he kissed the top of your head, rubbing your lower back as he repeated how sorry he was to you.
"Things with work have been stressful...I just- You weren't listening and I needed you out of there." He knew it was never going to make up for what he had unintentionally said to you but he was going, to be honest with you from the start and tell you what happened.
"I'll make it up to you if you let me." He whispered as he continued to hold you in his arms, kissing your cheeks as you nodded.
"Start by paying for my pizza," You sniffled, wiping your eyes when you saw the delivery man walking over in your direction,
"Anything for you," Chan whispered, handing you the basket so he could get out the cash.

MINHO: Insecurity: Not having Friends (One of my many insecurities lol)
As soon as Minho heard your voice from the hall he rolled his head against the floor of the dance studio,
"I thought it was just us today," Hyunjin said to Minho, confused as to why you were in the building when it was supposed to be a private practice between him and the boys this afternoon.
"It is," Minho grumbled as he glanced over at the glass panel on the door, you were stood talking with Nayeon so he wrecked his brain at some kind of excuse to get you to leave without being so mean about it. The boys were all stressed out, Kingdom was getting harder with every week so they were having to step up their game, every second of practice alone was important to them. With you there, they weren't able to get anything done.
"Hey Babe, guys! I got you all some lunch and I figured we could hang out this afternoon?" You glanced over all of their faces and the boys turned to look at Minho for help, none of them wanted to be the ones to send you home but it needed to be done. It was probably best it came from your boyfriend rather than the boys who were just friends of yours,
"Don't you have plans with any of your friends?" Seungmin tried to come across as friendly, hoping you would somehow get the hint that they wanted you to leave but Minho laughed loudly at the comment.
"Y/n doesn't have friends, that's why they're always clinging onto us," The room seemed to fall into silence, all that could be heard was the air-conditioner and your rapid breathing as Minho used your number one insecurity against you in front of everybody knowing full well that it hurt you more than anything else he could have said to you.
"Y/n!" Minho yelled out as you backed out of the room without another word to him, the other boys looking shocked at him as he called you to come back to him.
"Give them some space...Y/n will just want some time to cool off," Chan said as he placed his hand on Minho's arm wanting him to calm down before he spoke to you but Minho couldn't concentrate on anything else but the look on your face as he said that to you.
(X)
Minho stared at you from across your apartment as you waited for him to say something, he'd let himself in with his key but you weren't speaking. He'd been sitting on the sofa for an hour without either of you talking, he was just as stubborn as you were about things but he knew he was in the wrong this time.
"Why did you say it?" That was all you wanted to know, why he'd felt the need to use one of the biggest things you were insecure about in front of everyone, laughing about it as if it was something funny when it wasn't.
"I just- I need you out of there, I've been stressed and I know that will never be a suitable excuse but I was." You rolled your eyes at him, sitting down on the opposite sofa to him as you listened to what he was saying,
"You could have told me, I would have left...I know how much stress you're all under for Kingdom," You whispered as you looked down at your hands, wondering if he really found it funny that you didn't have many of your own friends, you were new to Korea it wasn't as if you weren't trying.
"What I said was out of order, nothing I can do or say will make up for it but I'm hoping you'll let me try...I never meant it, you know that." You knew deep down he hadn't meant it but you didn't want to forgive him so easily and seem so weak,
"Fine but...I want to be alone tonight, I just want some space." You whispered as you glanced up at him, he nodded and walked over to you giving you a kiss on your forehead.
"Call me when you're ready to speak, I'm sorry." He whispered before you kissed him again, letting him go out of the door.

CHANGBIN: Insecurity: School/College work
it out on one When Changbin walked into the dorms that night and heard you laughing loudly with the guys he frowned, you were supposed to be at home studying for your exams that were coming up not here with his friends.
"Y/n? I thought you had an exam tomorrow." He said plainly as he walked into the room, you stopped laughing as you glanced over at him and nodded your head.
"I do, I was just coming over for a break and I ran into Jisung," You looked over at Jisung who was still red in the face from laughing, Changbin grew with jealously as he watched the two of you giggling while trying not to laugh.
"This is why you keep failing the exams," He mumbled not thinking you could hear him as he walked into the kitchen but you heard him and your face fell,
"What?" Your voice cracked as you waited for him to repeat what he had just said to you, nothing but the sound of the tap dripping could be heard.
"Nothing." He grumbled, Jisung attempted to slowly leave the room without being noticed but you took his wrist in your hand,
"What did he say Jisung?" Changbin stared at the younger member with a look that said he would kill him if he said anything.
"I wasn't listening," It was clearly a lie but you let him go before grabbing your stuff,
"That's great, you know. You confide in your boyfriend that one of your insecurities is that you failed an exam and he uses it against you," You said snarkily as you began heading towards the door of the dorms, wanting nothing more than to go home and be left alone but Changbin followed you out.
"I didn't mean it, I was just-"
"You were just what?! Stressed? So, what? You thought. 'I know let me just take it out on my partner, who's already having a rough enough time without their boyfriend being rude about it'" You yelled before leaving the dorms, making sure to slam the door so he knew you didn't want him to follow you back home.
(X)
A week had passed since your little yelling match with Changbin, he'd been doing everything he could to say sorry, sending flowers, chocolates and teddies to your apartment to try and make up for everything he had done. Then there were the calls, voicemails and texts telling you how sorry he was for what he had said to you, that he hadn't meant it. You finally gave up on ignoring him when you realised you were both just stressed and it didn't mean you had to take it out on one another.
"I'm sorry," You said in unison as you opened the door to your apartment to see him standing there with a bunch of flowers in his hands,
"No, I'm sorry." You said in unison again before laughing with one another, Changbin put the flowers down on your kitchen side before bringing you into a hug and kissing the top of your head.
"I promise that it won't happen again, I've been stressed at work and that's one of the worst excuses in the world but I'm really sorry-" He was cut off when you kissed him softly, telling him that it was fine, you'd been stressed out as well and you shouldn't have ignored him for as long as you had done.
"How did your exam go?" He whispered as he pulled you into a tight hug,
"I passed." You laughed softly, kissing his chest as he told you his plans for congratulating you.

HYUNJIN: Insecurity: Not Being Good enough for him
You ran your hands down the outfit you were wearing for the award show the boys had invited you to go along with them to and you sighed, you looked great but you thought back on what everyone else was going to be wearing. All of those people around Hyunjin who were going to gain his attention within seconds,
"You ready to go? Whoa," He whispered as he walked into your shared room to find you in the most stunning outfit he'd ever seen you in, he walked over and kissed you softly.
"Looking good babe," He complimented but your heart dropped, "good" wasn't what you wanted, you wanted to look great. So great that he wouldn't be able to take his eyes off you all night,
"I need to change, it's not right." You mumbled, heading into the wardrobe to try and find something that would meet your standards that you had set in your head.
"You don't have to, you look good." You ignored him as you pulled out different options up to your body trying to find the best one,
"I don't want to look good, I want to look great." You whispered not thinking he could hear you but he watched you from the door shaking his head,
"You always look great, it doesn't matter what you wear," You looked over at him and shook your head this time,
"But they're going to be people, that will look better...You will look at them and want to be with them instead." He rolled his eyes at you, leaving the wardrobe to go and wait for you outside not wanting to listen to this over and over again.
"You always think that I'm going to leave you for someone else, why? You're all I want." He was getting tired of telling you this and you never believe him, it was like a broken record.
"Maybe I should spend my time looking for someone who would be good for me, someone who wouldn't spend so much time getting ready," He snapped not meaning it, he was stressed from work and the award show but you came out of the wardrobe in sweats.
"What are you doing?"
"Well, I'm not going. Spend the night finding someone that can be good enough for you," You remarked before looking yourself in the en-suite, ignoring him as he banged on the door for you to come out.
(X)
Hyunjin walked into the room later that night to find you curled up in bed with his shirt on, he crawled in behind you and kissed your shoulder softly.
"You know I didn't mean it right, you're perfect for me...Sometimes you're too good for me." He whispered as you pretended to be asleep,
"I know you're not asleep because you're not doing that little snorting thing you do when you're sleeping," You began making the snorting noise as he laughed softly, kissing your cheeks and turning you around to face him,
"There is no one in the world I want, I only want you for the rest of my life," He admitted as he kissed your lips over and over again, telling you he was going to remind you every day how good you were until you began to believe and listen to him.

JISUNG: Insecurity: Don’t earn as much as him
It was no secret that you didn't earn as much as your boyfriend Jisung did but that was because he was famous and you just happened to serve in a restaurant and work in a bookstore in the week.
"We're all going to split the bill," Jisung announced as he looked at the waiter who had asked had you and the boys wanted to pay for your meal that night, you looked at the receipt nervously thinking about how you were going to pay for it. 53000 won wasn't exactly the cheapest meal in the world, you figured you would all pay for the food you had ordered for yourselves which was why you'd gone for the cheapest items on the menu.
"Well, Changbin is the birthday boy, we shouldn't make him pay. Let's split between the eight of us," Felix said as he bought out his wallet, you began to grow with anxiety as you realised you weren't going to have enough to cover it.
"Here, mine and Y/n's half," You stared at the wad of cash that he placed down and then up at him as he smiled at you, kissing your lips.
"I got you, baby, I know you don't have a lot so I figured this was my treat." Your mouth fell open as he said that in front of everyone and the boys awkwardly looked away from you, doing anything they could to not pay attention to you.
"I can pay for my own meals," You whispered not wanting to make a scene in such a fancy place but Jisung didn't see a problem with him putting money down for the two of you.
"I know you don't earn as much as me, it's no big deal it's just money." A hiss sounded from Changbin as he realised Jisung was saying the wrong thing right now so all you did was get up,
"Well, this person who doesn't earn as much as you is leaving to catch a cab. Don't worry Jisung, I can afford it." You snapped, moving out of the restaurant leaving Jisung shocked as he watched after you, not seeing the problem in him offering to pay for your food.
"Dude...Bringing up that they earn less than you? Harsh," Changbin whispered as he patted Jisung on the back before getting up to leave.
(X)
Watching him from across the room you waited for Jisung to say something, he'd come to your apartment begging you to let him inside so you did.
"What is it? Come to mock me some more for my jobs?" He sighed as he stepped closer to you, only for you to back up against the wall not wanting him to touch you right now.
"You know I never meant it like that, I just...I thought I was doing a good thing." You shook your head as you rubbed your arms,
"Doing a good thing would be if you didn't announce to everyone on our table that I make less than you," You mumbled as you thought back on the boys all staring at you, it felt as if you'd shrunk in size with the way they all stared at you.
"Babe please, I didn't mean to I thought I was doing a nice thing." You shook your head rubbing your temples as the headache you'd gotten increased,
"Whatever Jisung, just...lock the door on your way out," You turned away from him only for him to take you by the hand and pull you close.
"You know I would never do something that spiteful to you on purpose, I was stressed, it slipped out, I didn't mean to use it against you." You could tell by the look in his eyes how sorry he was and the thought of curling up beside him to fall asleep was too good to resist right now so you gently kissed his lips.
"Next time we eat, I'm paying." You mumbled, dragging him  into the bedroom to get some well-earnt sleep.

FELIX: Insecurity: Emotionless/Cold hearted
According to everyone around you, you were that cold and heartless person that everyone tended to steer away from which was why it was so hard for you to believe someone like Felix, who was the living embodiment of sunshine, would want to date someone like you.
"All I'm saying is, you could have been a little bit nicer." He mumbled as you stood in the dorms, Jisung had been crying about a fight he'd had with Chan earlier that day and you told him to grow up about it.
"All I said was that he needed to grow up," You were confused as to why he was so angry over something so small, Jisung hadn't seemed that upset over it and it was him you were talking to.
"You're so fucking emotionless! He was crying Y/n and you told him to grow up!" You felt your body slump as the words left his mouth, you could take that from everyone around you but not him, not Felix. Felix was the one that made all of your insecurities melt away, the one you felt happy with but now he'd just thrown that back in your face and it looked as though he hadn't even noticed.
"How do you do it? How do you get away with being so cold to everyone around you, he was clearly hurt and needed our help and you fucking made it worse." You looked over at the dorm bathrooms wondering if you could make a run for it while he was ranting with his back to you so you did. Shutting the door as you slid down it, crying into your knees as you remembered the way Felix looked at you as if you were a monster. It wasn't that you were emotionless or cold to everyone, there were just some feelings you didn't understand.
"Y/n! I'm sorry!" He banged on the door as soon as he realised where you were, trying to get you to come out as he heard you sniffling from the other side of it.
"Please, I didn't mean any of it Y/n, you know that." You continued to cry into your knees, wanting nothing more than for him to leave and go into his room so you could sneak out and go home but he sat there on the other side of the door and waited.
(X)
You finally emerged an hour later when Chan knocked on the door telling you he needed to use the bathroom, Felix was waiting for you with open arms but you attempted to move away from him, failing as he hugged you from behind.
"I'm sorry, I was just stressed and overwhelmed with work, I shouldn't have taken it out on you," He whispered as he kissed your shoulder, watching you as you kept your eyes forward on Jisung who was talking to Chan about that day.
"You were right though, he did need to grow up...I shouldn't have said what I said to you and I am really sorry Y/n." You knew that no matter what Felix was going to keep saying sorry until you forgave him,
"You're right there, I am-" He kissed your lips softly before you could tell him you agreed with yourself being emotionless,
"I don't want to hear that, it's not true...Remember when I broke my ankle and you were there taking care of me," You nodded and he continued to list off everything you had done for him, the boys and all of your friends when they were sick or injured.
"I don't want to hear that again," He kissed your nose and you nodded before kissing him softly to stop him from saying sorry again.

SEUNGMIN: Insecurity: Not successful like other people your age
Your eyes glanced over the wedding invitation sitting on your coffee table, yet another one of your friends were getting married and you were happy for them. You would always be happy for someone who was doing well in their life but everyone you knew seemed to be getting married, having babies, getting their dream carers all the while you seemed to be stuck in the same place moving nowhere in your life.
"Why the long face?" Seungmin asked as he brought over your plate of food, the two of you were having your date night at your place tonight since the boys were all at the dorms and you wanted some alone time together.
"Nothing, I'm just wondering what to get my friend for her wedding," You said as you nodded over at the invitation, Seungmin nodded along with you and without thinking about it first,
"Doesn't it make you feel bad that they're all so successful and you're just still in your small apartment," He didn't mean for it to come out the way it did, he'd been so stressed all week over something he needed to ask you that it came out a little too harsh. You dropped the fork onto your plate as you looked at him, wondering if he was joking or if he was serious but he looked at you confused.
"What?"
"Well, I mean, they're all married, starting families, having these large homes and you're still in this crummy apartment." You couldn't believe the words that were coming out of his mouth, especially from Seungmin of all people, your boyfriend. The person that was supposed to be supportive and loving to you no matter what, it felt as though he was turning your back on you.
"Crummy?" Your voice broke as he continued to eat, watching the TV as though he didn't notice what he had said was hurting you so badly, you got up without another word, placed your plate down and rushed to the bathroom.
(X)
When you didn't come out after an hour Seungmin was beginning to worry, he knocked on the door when he heard sniffling coming from inside.
"Babe? Everything okay?" You wiped your eyes as you hummed in response, reaching to the toilet to flush it before lying to him, claiming you were sick and he needed to go before he caught it.
"You were fine earlier," He mumbled confused as to where this sudden sickness had come from, he opened the door to find you leaning against the bathtub wiping your eyes.
"Babe! What's wrong?" You scoffed at him, moving away as he tried to reach out and comfort you,
"What's wrong?! Me and my crummy apartment!" You yelled as you moved away from him and went into the living room,
"Baby, I didn't-"
"Didn't mean it? Because clearly, you did! Do you find it funny?" He reached out for you but you stepped away once again not wanting him to be near you right now,
"Let's just laugh at Y/n and the fact that they still live in a 'crummy' apartment, not married, not having kids and alone!" He realized as soon as you began crying again that his words had hurt you unintentionally, he hadn't meant it the way they'd come out.
"I didn't mean it like that, I've been stressed this week trying to-"
"So you took it out on me? When have we ever done that?" He shook his head, finally gabbing your hands as he made you look up at him,
"I've been stressing myself out trying to ask you to move in with me, I-I found a house we could live in and I- I didn't know how to ask you and I thought that dropping hints would be a good way." You stared at him with your brows pressed together,
"You thought telling me my apartment was crummy...was a hint?" He laughed awkwardly as he realised how stupid it seemed but you started laughing softly along with him somehow seeing the funny side of it as you shook your head.
"Kim Seungmin, you are the most strangest, perfect boyfriend in the world." You whispered kissing him softly,
"Yes, I'll move in with you."

JEONGIN: Insecurity: Worried He doesn’t Love you
"You were flirting with her," You scoffed as you stood in one of the empty conference rooms that were in the JYP building, Jeongin rubbed the bridge of his nose in frustration listening to what you were claiming he was doing.
"I was talking to her, she's like a younger sister to me." He explained you'd walked into the building to find him standing extremely close to Lia from itzy and it sent jealousy running through your veins. It wasn't as if you didn't trust Jeongin, you just found it incredibly difficult to see him with someone like Lia and not be attracted to her,
"You're just always too jealous to see what's in front of you! Why would I flirt with her when I'm with you?" You stared at him as he called you jealous, you looked down at your hands and not knowing what to say to him.
"You're always so worried that I don't love you! Do you know how tiring it is to have to remind you all the time?" You felt a pang in your heart as he yelled at you, people turning to look through the glass door as they heard the youngest member yelling.
"Well if it's so tiring why do you keep doing it?!" You yelled back only for him to shake his head and shrug his shoulders,
"I don't know," Your heart, felt as though it had fallen onto the floor and crashed into a million tiny pieces right in front of him and it was as though he didn't care to notice.
"You don't know? So...Why don't we just break up?" Your voice was quieter, hoping he would realise you were upset about this and that he would tell you he didn't mean it but he nodded his head,
"Fine." Your breath caught in your throat as he stormed out of the room leaving you alone to try and gather up everything that had just happened in the room while he seemed to go off as though nothing had happened.
(X)
When Jeongin walked into the dorms later that night the last thing he expected to find was you packing everything up into a bag with tears gushing down your cheeks.
"Sorry, I thought I would be done before you got back," You sniffled, wiping your eyes and side-stepping out of the room telling him you would come back for the rest of your stuff when he wasn't at home.
"What are you talking about? Why are you taking your stuff?" You ignored him as you struggled to take the key to the dorms off your keys, dropping them all onto the floor and crying as you saw him bending down for them.
"We broke up. Remember? You didn't want the hassle of telling me you loved me so we broke up," You couldn't bring yourself to look at him but he tilted your head up to look at him and shook his head,
"I was just mad, I didn't mean it Y/n...I would never break up with you over that, I've just been stressed and then the whole jealousy thing came out and I just...I'm really sorry," He whispered leaning forward to kiss your lips softly, repeating over and over how much he loved you in every way possible, kissing you all over your face as he pulled you back into his dorm room so you could unpack your bag.

The Code
Pairing: Din Djarin/gn!reader Summary: Mando leaves specific instructions not to leave the ship while he is out on a hunt. Disobey those instructions leads to very terrible consequences - will Mando make it back in time? Word Count: 3232 Warning: Mention of blood, pain, knife, torture, canon-typical violence A/N: I decided to see if the Whumptober prompts inspired anything and here this is.... days 1, 2, & 3 all in one! The specific prompts used were: 1: Bound 2: Gagged 3: “Who did this to you” I hope y'all enjoy! Also don’t forget Feedback Feeds my Soul
Main Masterlist | Other Din fics
You knew that you should have listened to him, he told you not to leave the ship but you wanted to find something other than the terrible rations to eat. You thought that you would be fine. You made sure that the kid was secure in the ship, and you made sure that the ship was in your line of sight, you’d be able to get back to it if you needed.
Everything had been going well, you had found some fruit that was growing and from what you could tell, was edible. You had begun picking the fruit, excited to see what all you could make with what you were finding.
You heard a branch snap, but it wasn’t from your own feet. You scanned the area, surely it was just an animal but you suddenly got a sick feeling in your gut, and knew you needed to get back to the ship. You would just need to engage ground security protocols once you were onboard and both you and the child would be safe.
You had turned to head back to the ship, but it was too late. You saw that they were closer than you, there was no way for you to make it onboard before they did. You didn’t even have to think, the decision had been an easy one, you used the remote controls to engage the protocols, locking the child in the ship when the hunters wouldn’t be able to get to him. It would buy him time until Mando could get back and kill them off.
You then tried to hunker down, they hadn’t seen you yet and you had hoped that it would stay that way. It had bought you some time. You watched from the foliage as they tried to get in the ship to no avail. You felt relief knowing the child was safe, though that relief was only short lived as you suddenly heard movement behind you.
You whipped around quickly, trying to get a blaster shot off but he was faster than you expected and managed to dodge the shot, which just meant that you had signaled the others to your location. You were luckily fast enough to rip your arm panel with the controls for the ship off your arm and shoot that. You got one good step on it too before a blaster shot hit your thigh.
You crumbled to the ground from the pain of the close range shot, you desperately tried to focus on getting out of the situation or fighting your way out of the 5 men, but before you could find your footing again, the man’s foot was on your shoulder, painfully pressing it into the ground. You still tried to get a shot off at him, but he was easily able to pry your blaster from your hand.
“He sure picked a feisty one.” The hunter chucked before grabbing you by the shoulder and pulling you upright. You were surrounded by 2 other men before you were fully upright, one on each side of you, dragging you back towards the ship.
“She destroyed her controls.” The first man told the others, lifting the destroyed band.
“That’s fine, her biometrics should open the ship using the panel at the door.” Another pointed out. You were never more thankful for how paranoid Mando was, while your biometrics were required to get to the controls, to undo something like ground protocols, or really anything, a 6 digit code was also needed. And only you knew your code.
You probably should have let them figure that out themselves but you couldn’t help but laugh at them.
“What the fuck are you laughing at?” He growled.
“Oh, just that even with a big ass head, you have a tiny fucking brain.” You chuckled. Your insult only earned you two fingers pushing into the wound on your leg, making you cry out.
“Not laughing now.” He smirked, happy with his work. He didn’t waste his time forcing you to the panel, pressing your hand to the reader. You could feel how smug he was when the light went green. There was a moment of anticipation, then the code boxes popped up and you felt the anger and annoyance that he felt realizing what had happened.
You felt the blaster pressed into the back of your head as he took a step away from you. “Open that door right now or I will shoot you.”
“If you kill me you’ll never get in.” You pointed out. You knew that the next few hours or days, depending on how long Mando took, wasn’t going to be pleasant, but you had no plans on giving them that code. You would rather be killed. “Go ahead and shoot me now, because it does not matter what you do, I will never give up that code.”
You turned around slowly, looking down the barrel of the gun, directly into the man’s eyes. You refused to let him think he had you scared, you wanted him to realize that he would fail, that you would die before even thinking about giving up Mando or the kid.
“We’ll see about that.” He locked eyes on you, lowering the gun only slightly. “Tie them up,” You were quickly grabbed and dragged over to a tree that was near the entrance of the ship, you were bound to the tree tightly, a little wiggling told you that you weren’t getting out very easily.
“Alimar! Can you get that damn door open?” The man you assumed was in charge asked the smallest man, who was beside the panel.
“I am trying sir, but the security is very tight and I am afraid that one wrong move and it will just lock down more.”
“Well don’t make a wrong move. I want that damn door open before The Mandalorian gets back here.”
“Now you, you’re going to make his job unneeded and you’re going to tell us your code.”
“Again, not happening.” You rolled your eyes at him. Your answer earned you a swift and strong fist to your gut. You groaned at the pain but straightened yourself.
“Fine, stop, the code is 654321.” You said, making yourself sound more out of breath then you were.
“Don’t enter that!” The man in front of you shouted to Alimar, who was about to enter it as if you would give up that easy.
“Is that the code you enter to warn your little mandalorian? You think I’m that stupid?”
“I guess you’ll never know if I ever even give you the right code or if what I say will do any number of things, from warn Mando, to locking it down further, to self destroying the ship.”
“You wouldn’t risk the kid’s life.” He glared at you, but you could tell the wheels in his brain were turning. He had to think of a way to get you to give him the code, but he had to be able to be sure it was the right one.
“Well I guess that just leaves the hard way. Can’t trust you until I can break you.”
He wasn’t lying, he had no intentions of going easy on you. He had started by changing your position, tying your hands on a branch that happened to be at the perfect height above your head. You knew this position left you much more vulnerable, and he took full advantage of that.
He started with his blaster, a shot to your shin, followed by asking for the code. You gave another random combination of 6 digits. He then walked away, towards the panel, he would examine it, then walk back. A shot to your forearm, followed by the same question. You gave another 6 numbers. He walked away, only to come back, this time with a knife.
He gave you a deep cut on the outside of the thigh that hadn’t been shot previously. You hadn’t been able to hold in the screamed pains you had been letting out after each infliction, which only seemed to make the man in front of you smile.
You didn’t know how much time had passed, but you did notice the sun beginning to set. He started to leave you alone for longer periods, which was good. You weren’t sure how many more you were going to be able to take. You were just praying that Mando would be back soon.
Even if you didn’t last much longer, you also started to worry about their resident mechanic. You kept your eye on his progress and were scared that he could actually manage to get through the door.
It had quickly become dark, the only light coming from the lights on the ship. You could tell it was also cooling down as well. You tried to ignore the shivers that were running through your body but there was no use.
“Shit!” You heard the man who had been on watch utter. “Boss! We got a problem, he’s here.”
“Fuck!” The man in charge frantically looked around trying to figure something out. You were about to let out a scream, something to warm Mando, but right as you opened your mouth, one of them shoved a cloth into your mouth.
“Not gonna happen.” He tightened it around your head, making sure you weren’t able to spit it out to warn Mando.
“Good, all we need to do is hide, when he gets here, he’ll be distracted with them, and by the time they can even try to warn him, we’ll jump him.” Their leader told them. They were quickly to gather the little they had and find themselves spots that they would go unseen.
You just prayed that Mando would catch their body signatures through his visor first. If he noticed them before he noticed you, then he would have a chance of fighting them off. If their plan went their way, and he was distracted by you, there was a chance they could overpower him.
You heard your name being shouted, you turned your head to see Mando, his focus solely on you. His helmet never left you, even as you shook your head viciously, trying to get him to look anywhere else, but he was in front of you quickly.
Mando was looking you over, you could feel the anger and tension that was radiating from him. Though at the moment all you could think about was warning him. You were trying to yell through the gag, but it stopped anything comprehensible from coming out.
“Who did this to you!?” Mando asked, a sharp edge to his voice, one that sent a shiver down your spine. He was quick to untie to gag, realizing you were trying to say something.
“Behind you!” Was all you could manage to get out as soon as the gag was undone.
He only had a moment to turn around and realize that he was faced with exactly who did this. His blaster was fired off before he even fully had time to process what was transpiring. His shot landed, though you were sad to realize it took down the least threatening, the mechanic.
He begins to go for the other four men, but one manages to kick his blaster out of his hand, he is left trying to fight all of them with just his hands. You tried to get out of your ropes again, to no avail and were left to watch in panic and he tried to fight them all off. He had been knocked to the ground. Not one, but two of the men on top of him holding him down. You watched as he went to use his flame thrower on his arm to get them off him, when the leader was quick to step down hard on his wrist, stopping his ability to get the flames anywhere that would be helpful.
You watched in panic as he thrashed around, trying to gain any leverage but he was outnumbered. The leader got the third man to take over holding his arm down. The two men on top of him shifted slightly, just enough so that their leader could bend down in front of Mando.
“It looks like you aren’t as sharp as everyone says.” He taunted. “I was expecting more of a fight, I didn’t think that you cared about anything under all that metal. But looks like all it took to take down the great Mandalorian was capturing his favorite little companion.”
“Leave them out of this!” He seethed, thrashing more at the mention of you.
“Oh, but why would I, when we had so much fun today while you were gone.” He smiled disgustingly. “Honestly surprised they are even awake with all I put them through today.”
His attention flickered to you for a moment, he was quick to notice you looked more panicked now than you had all day and he realized he might have just hit the jackpot.
“You know, I always wondered what you looked like under that tin can. I bet you are hideous, it’s not some creed that keeps that helmet on, but more that you are just so ugly no one would want to look at you.” He began to bend down towards Mando. If he had been thrashing beforehand, now he was frantic.
“Stop!!” You screamed, grabbing the leader and Mando’s attention. “Stop! I will give you the code, please, just leave him alone,”
“Is that all it takes to break you? You don’t want to know what he looks like? Afraid he will have to kill you after you know?”
“I think I have made it pretty clear today that my life is not what matters here.” You sighed, “Just leave him alone and I will give you the code.”
“Don’t!” You heard him beg you, but your heart was shattering, you refused to allow these men to break Mando of his creed. A creed that you had witnessed how seriously he took. You would not be a part of that happening.
You locked your eyes with his visor, hoping that you were meeting his eyes. “I’m sorry, I can’t watch them hurt you.”
“Good.” The leader smiled, standing up over Mando. “Now no games. If the code you give me does not open that door, then I will take that helmet, kill your precious Mandalorian slowly, and make you watch. Then I will blow my way through this ship anyway and get the kid, and leave you to die. Do you understand?
“Yes. No games, just promise you won’t hurt him.” You pleaded.
“You have my word.” You knew the word of a hunter like him meant nothing, and when you noticed that Mando’s free hand was reaching slightly for a blade in the side of his pants, you realized you had a plan, one that gave Mando the time he needed to get the upper hand.
“Okay. My code is 827364.” You sighed, you gave the right number up until the last digit. The panel would light green for every correct digit, meaning that until the last moment, he would think that you were right. But you also knew he had to untie you because your bioscan would have timed out. This would hopefully allow you to give Mando some form of help, though you had minimal strength left in your body, you would try.
“Fuck.” He marched back over to you. “Don’t even think of trying anything.” He told you as he untied you from the tree. You realized just how weak you were when you nearly collapsed. You saw Mando twitch at seeing just how bad of shape you were in, but now neither of you had time to do anything about it.
“Looks like you won’t be doing anything even if you wanted to.” He smirked, practically dragging you to the ship panel. He pressed your hand to it, reading your signal. Once he was no longer in need of you, he threw you to the ground away from him.
You groaned as you hit the ground. Watching as he entered the numbers you had given him. You realized he had made a mistake when you saw a blaster that was in your reach.
You put all your effort into stretching just enough to grab it without signalling to him or the others what you were doing. You saw him tap the last number and as soon as the panel turned red you let your blaster shot go off.
The man whose foot had been holding Mando’s hand down was suddenly stumbling back, and hit the ground. Mando wasted no time, his arm coming up and the flames engulfing the two men holding him down.
They screamed in agony as they rolled off the mandalorian. He got to his feet in record time and before the leader could think to retaliate against you, a knife was plunged into his chest.
Mando marched over to him and was above him as he stumbled back into the ship. Without a word he rips the blade out and stabs it back in the other side. The knife is out of him again, this time finding a place in his stomach. Next his thigh, until finally he has enough and with a quick swipe, the man’s neck is sliced open. He tried to helplessly grab at his neck but within moments he was bleeding out on the ground.
You heard three more blaster shots before Mando was in your vision. “You’re okay, you’re going to be okay.”
You tried to nod, tried to stand up, but your body had given up on you. “I’m sorry.” You managed to get out. If you had only listened to him, you would have been in the ship and not put all of you in such danger.
“You don’t have anything to apologize for.” He told you softly as he wrapped his arms gingerly under you. “Let’s get you patched up.”
“I could have gotten us all killed.” You whined at the pain as he lifted you.
“But you didn’t.” He sighed. He was trying to hold in the worry and anger that was still coursing through his veins. The pain and anger he felt seeing you tied to that tree, the last thing he was worried about had been his creed, and yet, you had. You refused to let them take away something that you didn’t even fully understand and he couldn’t help but love you a little more for that.
While that anger and worry could lead him to taking it out on you, you had disobeyed him, but you also risked your life for him and the child, and he couldn’t be mad at you for that. Instead he left all his anger to the men that were dead outside the ship.
He was as careful as he could be with you as he finally unlocked the ship and walked you up the ramp and quickly laid you on a cot so he could begin to patch you up.
“You saved us.” He adds softly as he notices you slip into sleep. He hoped you would sleep through the worst of the treatments if he was being honest, once he was sure you couldn’t hear him he added, “You saved me.”

Hi! I have a request, but first i wanna say your writing is absolutely amazing! The length + amount of time you put into these prompts is insanely good. Now! Onto the request, how would the boys react to a reader from a more modern era? Maybe a more modernized hyrule or our current point in time?
Masterlist
Thank you so much for the compliment! I'm happy to see the response even if this blog is still relatively new.
I hope I do your prompt justice.
I probably could have done a headcanon list but I was hit with inspiration.
I also might have given Reader some backstory.
Scenario below the cut! It’s long, take caution.
It was a cool night, but you didn't mind. Your bed was warm, the WiFi was fast and even if it was three AM on a school night, you managed to keep yourself giggling with cat videos and blursed memes until the words and colors merged.
A night well spent.
But it led to questionable decisions.
Even if the shredded cheese in the fridge was beginning to seem a more and more enticing snack, your body was tempted to succumb to slumber.
Until a large purple light encompassed the entirety of your window.
Something was in your backyard.
Aliens. Your tired brain supplies and you sprint to the glass and push away the curtains. Is this it? Is this where I'm kidnapped and never seen or heard from again?
You pull out your phone and open up the camera.
"Pics or it didn't happen." You remind yourself and snap a few before showing your face.
What you see isn't what you're expecting. Instead of a flying saucer in the sky beaming down a laser or a weird pear shaped space craft on top of the grass, there's a single panel of glowing light, swirling with black accents that creeps in a circular motion.
"Cheese and crackers...." You gasp and begin to blatantly stare at it with no regard to whether something may be coming out of it.
You wait and nothing happens.
You wait some more and nothing happens.
You spend an hour watching this portal that has appeared out of nowhere, waiting for something to happen, willing for something to happen. But you get nothing.
The unknown stares right back at you, unblinking and unchanged.
Go through it. A voice tells you. What if there's something on the other side?
"I'm going to die." You gulp and take a deep breath.
Who else gets a chance like this? The voice talks again. This could be a grand step towards a more modern society. A whole new world could be on the other side, waiting, reaching out, calling to humanity!
You think you a see a shadow move behind the portal and out of sight but it’s gone before you can even process it.
"Should I call the police?" You step away from the window, ignoring the thoughts, the voice- you're too tired to know if it's your own any more. What's the plan? How does one go about something like this?
Where’s your sense of adventure? Pack a bag and go! What if it goes away?
That last thought seems to get through to your tired brain and for a reason beyond your understanding, it latches onto it.
Now you’re excited.
You run to the closet and take out your old backpack. It used to be for school but it was fancier since it was the only one you could get. The bag had a replaceable water bag with a plastic straw connected through the back of it and the straps have just worn down enough to where they’re actually comfortable. It doubled as a hiking backpack and came with its own insulated lunch box that clasped on the back of it.
It’ll finally serve its purpose.
You quickly roll up your favorite blanket and strap it in tightly beneath the lunch box. You’re quick to take out two extra outfits and pack them as well as change out of your pajamas.
Ok. What would you need? You don’t know where you’d be going so this has to a catch all kind of deal.
You pack away your swiss army knife first for good measure. A solar powered charger for your phone and an extra pair of socks follow suit even after you’ve picked out the extra clothes.
You take out the water bag and run to fill it all the way to max capacity as you think of any other necessities.
You’d need food. You have a small jar of peanut butter and granola bars that can fit in the lunch box. You can bring your extra water bottle and put in the side pockets of the backpack, and maybe bring some of those powered flavor packets your brother loves so much. You think he has lemonade and some green tea ones.
Those would be great. He won’t mind, hopefully.
You let the bag overfill momentarily before running back to shove it in your bag. with the lid screwed tight.
Next you run to the kitchen, grabbing the first things that you thought of already and begin to look around for more.
You grab an unopened pack of beef jerky, a bag of veggie sticks and a half eaten bag of dried mangos.
During your search you grab the water bottle and fill that too.
You return to your room with your bounty and begin to carefully put everything in the box. With some more deliberation, you run back to the kitchen and make yourself a quick sandwich, eat it, make another one and pack that as well.
You look out side the window and the portal is still there.
The sun is beginning to rise now so you’re trying to go as fast as you can, unless you want to neighbors to think something is going on.
Even if it is.
You’re about to leave but in a stroke of brilliance, you run to pack sunscreen and bug spray as well. You see a small first aid pack that was bought recently for when you would take your family vacation but you reason that it might one of the most important things you’d have if you got hurt.
Into the bag it goes.
You grab your hoodie before you leave the door, wrap it around your waist and pocket your phone, your headphones and your wallet.
You feel immediately under packed when you step outside and see the portal up close.
It’s weirdly triangle shaped, you think and step closer.
You reach your hand out and try to touch it. It feels as if you put your hand through a humidifier but it’s not wet. It’s misty and cold but not necessarily unpleasant.
An idea hits you right before you take your first step through.
You pull up one of the earlier photo’s you took and send it to your friend’s group chat. It showed up in my backyard. I decided to make a bad late night decision and I’m going through. If you never hear from me again, I want you all to fight over my electronics. Winner takes all. Godspeed.
And you step through.
You had first assumed that it would merely take you tot he other side but very quickly realize that you have to walk through it.
The first part still had a little light but with time, it got darker. So dark that you couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face.
You kept walking.
As fast as the light disappeared, it came back and you stepped into the light of an open field, right in front of one, two, three, four, nine males that had appeared to be traveling towards you or rather, towards the portal.
The portal disappears in the process.
“Oh so we didn’t have to go through it! We had to gain another member!” One of them yells. “Would have been nice to know before we packed everything up!”
“Ho boy, where am I?” You ask and tighten your grip on your backpack. Why didn’t I bring a weapon?
They all had long tunics and swords on their backs. Old fashioned leather boots and hand bracers were the norm in this group and you realized very quickly that your jeans and t-shirt had wildly missed the memo.
“Dang, I didn’t think I’d walk into a LARP group. Sorry about that.” You sheepishly smile. “I had no idea where the portal was going to take me. But if you would be so kind-”
“Wait, what’s LARP?” One of them speaks up. He was a dirty blond and somewhere in the middle of the group height wise. He wore a white cape like thing with blue designs on the back but you didn’t recognize the symbol.
“Live Action Role Play?” You tilt your head. “It’s why you’re all dressed like that? Right?”
“This is just our clothes.” What appears to be the youngest bounces up to you. “What are you wearing?”
“First I could grab in my closet.” You admit and look down on it. It’s one of your comfiest shirts and best looking pants. You’re a little proud of yourself for finding those in the dark.
“Weird.”
“We’re heroes. We’re all named Link.” Cape guy speaks up again. “Is it safe to assume that you’re in the same boat?”
“Heroes?” Your eyebrows furrow together. “I’m not a hero and my name’s not Link.”
You’re quick to tell them your name and you watch as the confusion covers their faces. “My brother’s name is Link though if that helps anything.”
“Oh we needed him!” The youngest groans and it instantly irks you.
“What would you need with a five year old?” You deadpan and cross your arms.
The information stuns the group.
“The portal showed up in the middle of the night and I’m the one that went through it. I’m pretty sure I was the only awake to even see it. Are you telling me that it was for my little brother?” You’d be lying if you said that you weren’t a little pissed. “My baby brother was supposed to go through it? He was asleep! He’s five. What kind of logic is that?!”
“Well...” The biggest and oldest of them runs a hand over his face. You think he has some cool tattoos and sick scar going across his eye but he looks about as angry as you feel, so you don’t say anything. “It appears the gods truly do not care for the hero’s maturity, only his existence.”
“Ok...What’s with all this hero talk?” You bite back. “What did... Where am I?”
“Hyrule.” The second with cool face tattoos speaks up. He’s got a large fur pelt around his shoulders and you have to tighten your grip against your backpack again to keep from reaching out to touch it.
Even so you feel yourself deadpan even more. “Hyrule? Like the ancient empire? The one that collapsed more than two thousand years ago? That Hyrule?”
You’re inclined to not believe them and write all of them off as crazy... but you also walked through a portal. And your grandma did say that magic existed in the strangest forms.
They all share looks of concern and some begin to murmur quietly amongst themselves but you’re too far gone to even notice.
“Did I time travel?” The idea hits you like a bus and you feel your eyes widen as you stare beyond the group. You quickly take our your phone and unlock it.
No signal.
“Is that a type of Sheikah slate?” Someone asks you.
“I don’t know what that is.” You reply automatically. “Wait, hold on, what year is it?”
“Why don’t you tell us what year you’re from and we can start from there?” The darkest brunette of the group speaks up.
“202x PC” You say robotically, not really processing the world around you anymore.
“That’s...” The blond with a long blue scarf speaks up with a slight hiss. “...Beyond any of our timelines. You see, we all come from different worlds and eras of Hyrule’s history.”
“I don’t think you’re the farthest down anymore, Wild.”
“This would then make them my successor, right?”
“It would make their brother your successor.” Someone amends. “I think they just jumped in his place.”
“Leave my brother alone.” You snap back into the present, pocketing your [hone again. “Ok, you know what, screw it. I don’t know what you’d want my brother for but I’m here now. I’d gladly take his place if it means he gets to stay home!”
“Hey.” A boy with pink hair stalks up to you looking a little more serious than you’d like.
“Nice hair dude, way to defy the gender norms.” You smirk a little before genuinely grinning, hoping to quell the tension. “What product do you use? It looks like Artic Fox but not every place sells their brand.”
“...I have no idea what you’re talking about but what happened to Ganon in your world? How have you been handling it?” He snaps and places his hands on his hips.
“Ganon? Like my old principle? That’s a name I haven’t heard in forever.” You’re confused again. “Last I heard he joined the police force only to be reassigned out of state. I don’t know what’s happening with him. Kinda hope he gets fired though. He’s not a bad guy but he’s not someone you’d want in that kind of position of power, you know.”
“Police force?”
You blinked and look them all over. They look very medieval. “Oh... You don’t have that...”
You begin to think about your history lessons and what they might be familiar with if they’re telling the truth about being from Hyrule.
“Ya’ll got knights?”
Many, almost all of them nod, a few with face of despair already on them before you finish speaking.
“It’s kind of like that. Mixed with a towns guard position... kinda. They enforce laws... at least they’re supposed to but the whole system is flawed and racist and really needs to be dismantled for the abuse of power that they have-”
“Abuse? Of power?” You have their attention again.
“It’s stupid and it won’t really make any sense if I try to explain because I doubt you have anything similar but it’s basically a group of people given the right to treat the public in anyway they like for their own benefit because they have no one telling them that they can’t.” You groan and slowly begin to feel your lack of sleep catch up to you.
You slowly reach to behind you and sit down on the dirt, looking at all of them. “Mr. Dragmire wasn’t like...Demise or anything but he was a huge jerk. No one liked him. He liked me though. I remember that. I was the envy of the whole school because I somehow got on his good side while everyone else wants to strangle him. I think he was transferred for some misdemeanor or something like that... like he might have been throwing hands with someone he wasn’t supposed to. I never heard all the details. I didn’t really care for it when it happened either. I’m pretty sure he lost that fight though. The dude looked like a blast of wind could have knocked him over let alone someone’s knuckle sandwich.”
“I would love to hear more about this.” The youngest sits next to you with a large grin on his face. His eyes are bright and his body language reminds you of your cousin Zelda. You instantly think they’d get along like a house on fire. “What are your monsters like?”
“Monsters?” You tilt your head. “Be a little more specific bud, it depends on where you’re from.”
“You have that many?!”
“It depends on if you believe they’re real or not.”
“Speaking of monsters, can you fight?” The shortest walks up to you. You like that his tunic is stitched up with multiple colors and designs. It gives it personality, you think. “Do you have a weapon you’re more comfortable with?”
The question throws you off your rhythm and you don’t fight your wince. “What would happen if I say that I do not, in fact, have any sort of weapon on me?”
“I wouldn’t believe you.” Pink guy speaks up again. “That pack is huge, there has to be something in there.”
“It’s food, water and extra clothes my guy.” You lean back against said backpack since it won’t let you lay down with it still on. “Not a lot of space for anything else. I’m pretty good at hand to hand combat though. Karate’s a good way to fight out stress.”
“Your bag’s not magic?”
“Why the hell would it be magic? ...Are you trying to tell me magic actually exists?” You raise an eyebrow as your eyes begin to close against your will. “I know my grandma said it does but I thought she meant like fairies and shadow demons.. and bigfoot. Can’t forget him, he’s the real MVP... You know...Children’s bedtime stories and stuff like that, it’s not real. But like magic magic? Magic items and the like? Find me Tinkerbell and I’ll show you Neverland, that’s what I say.”
“Are you serious?”
“Second star to the right, straight on till morning.” You respond.
There’s a moment of silence as the group in front of you processes your words. It’s hard to tell their reaction since you’re not looking at them but you no longer have the energy to do anything else.
“Are you falling asleep right now?” It’s the one they called Wild.
“I...” You try to open your eyes. They don’t budge. “I haven’t slept in nearly 20 hours... I think. I might have past 24 hours a while ago actually. Portal showed up at like four in the morning... I had to get up at six and I didn’t sleep at all before then.”
More silence.
“Great another one.” Someone scoffs.
You snort.
“Why did we pack up camp again?”
“No one kill me.” You say right before you lose consciousness. “Please and thank you.”
“They’re doomed.”
“Have some faith Vet. They stepped in for their little brother. That has to mean something?”
“They’re in for a rude awakening, and that’s all I have to say about it.”

Tumblr media
Over the past week, you had signed Cillian’s agreement and had arranged for all of your medical check-ups and, as expected, everything was in order.
You’ve had the implant for about a year already and pregnancy wasn’t a concern.
Cillian, in turn, did the same and it wasn’t until Saturday that you caught up again after Cillian had spent the week in London with his brother.
When you arrived at Cillian’s house, you were rather surprised to see that he had cooked dinner for you and everything started off almost like a regular date.
You got along well and never ran out of interesting conversation material. Nonetheless, that particular evening, you were nervous and a little bit worried about what was to come.
‘You know you can still change your mind’ Cillian said as he poured you a glass of wine, which you finished rather quickly despite the fact that Cillian made clear to you that he wouldn’t give you more than one glass until after your session in his basement.
‘I know, but I won’t. I want see what this is all about. I have been reading up on it and I am not quite so sure why people find joy in inflicting and receiving pain this way’ you said, trying to ascertain what exactly it was that he would do to you.
‘It’s not about the pain. It is about pleasure’ Cillian explained and you nervously bit your lip, unsure how to respond to his statement.
‘So, you think I will enjoy this, being whipped and god knows what else you will do to me’ you said.
‘I am certain that you will. Despite, it’s not just that. You will see’ Cillian said somewhat reassuringly before asking you to get up, get ready and meet him downstairs.
‘So, what do you want me to wear then sir?’ you joked.
‘Nothing at all’ Cillian responded firmly.
‘Nothing? No lingerie?’ you asked surprised and a little disappointed as you bought three sets of sexy lacy underwear with you for him to choose from.
‘Lingerie is overrated. I want you to wait for me on the bed, naked with your hair tight up’ Cillian instructed before giving you a passionate kiss.
‘Yes sir’ you simply said with a wink as your lips drifted apart, knowing very well that you didn’t have to address him like this until you entered the play room.
***
You looked up from where you sat on the bed, completely naked, just as Cillian had instructed, when Cillian entered the room.
He made you wait for at least 15 minutes but you hadn't wanted to explore the room without him. You were simultaneously excited, aroused and fearful of what you might find amongst everything else you saw during your first visit to his house.
Cillian looked gorgeous as he stood in the doorway watching you, wearing nothing but tight black Calvin Klein briefs.
‘I am ready sir’ you said quietly as you watched Cillian walk towards the other end of the room, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
‘No rope tonight?’ you then asked as he returned silently with four leather cuffs, two smaller and two larger ones.
‘Not tonight’ Cillian said and you willingly held out your wrists for him.
‘Not yet. Lie down’ he instructed and you complied, lying down and allowing him to encircle your wrists with each of the cuff before securing them to a leather string which was attached to the bedhead above you.
Whilst the string allowed you to wiggle, it also allowed Cillian to turn you around without undoing the cuffs.
Without words, his eyes followed his fingers as they trailed down your cheek and over your shoulder to your breast where his fingers found your nipple, pinching it gently between his thumb and forefinger and rolling the swollen nub.
Then, Cillian grabbed the other larger cuffs which he placed around your ankles before retrieving a metal bar and attaching it in between the cuffs, keeping your legs spread wide.
‘Fuck, you look so sexy like this, all helpless and at my mercy’ he murmured from where he was sitting.
You smiled and looked up at him, moving your shoulders slightly, trying to wiggle around to get more comfortable.
‘It's adorable watching you try to retain some sense of control in here with me’ Cillian then said before he placed his hands on your shoulders to stop your movements.
‘The moment you signed that contract you surrendered all control of what happens here to me’ he then reminded you as he moved away from you and you watched him as he seemed to be slowing himself down with the distraction of retrieving equipment rather than rebuking your actions.
You said nothing as you watched him take out two candles before placing them on a waist-high shelf beside the bed and lighting them. Almost immediately the room began to fill with a subtle sweet smell. You continued to watch him as he went to a different panel and took several items from the cupboard before approaching you again.
‘You said you would take it easy on me the first time we do this’ you said nervously as you observed him carrying a leather strap towards the bed.
‘If you are a good girl and behave for me, then I will’ Cillian smirked.
‘Hmm, alright, I will be good’ you said somewhat nervously and Cillian could see that you were slightly worried.
‘Do you remember your safe words?’ Cillian then asked and you nodded.
‘Good. How are you feeling, now?’ he asked.
‘Green’ you said with a smile.
‘Good, now close your eyes and keep them closed’ Cillian ordered, wanting you to trust him without him having to blindfold you.
‘Why?’ you asked before you could stop yourself and felt the sting of the strap catch your breast.
‘Because I told you to, and in here we play by my rules’ he said in a low dark voice. ‘Close your eyes and keep them closed’ he repeated his command.
His tone and forcefulness sent a shiver down your spine, and without thinking about it any further, you closed your eyes.
Cillian took a few moments to gaze down on you, still not quite believing that you were here in this room with him and allowing him to use you in this way. He ran his hands over your breasts, playing with your hard-pointed nipples and listening to the small moans of pleasure you emitted.
You took a deep breath a moment before you felt his lips on yours while his hands massaged down your body starting from your shoulders and lingering over your breasts before moving lower across your tummy and then the area of skin just above your mound. You heard him groan deeply as if the slower pace he was moving at was torturing him, and you allowed yourself a small smile that you affected him in the same way his actions were affecting you.
‘Roll’ Cillian almost barked as he took hold of your body and helped you roll over on to your stomach.
The leather strip attached to your cuffs was now twisted tighter towards the bedhead and your legs were still held wide apart by the spreader.
‘Keep your eyes closed’ he instructed and the bed sagged as you felt Cillian's weight beside you on the mattress. He moved further to straddle your thighs, and you felt his hands touch lightly on your shoulders and you tensed as if expecting the strap to land rather than the continued soft touch of his hands.
‘Relax, Y/N. It's important to relax’ he whispered into your ear, his hot breath caressing your neck. ‘Where are we on the scale?’ he then asked softly.
‘Green’ you whispered softly.
‘Good’ he said softly as his hands glided over your ass.
You felt a small thrill flutter inside you as you began to surrender to him while he continued to gently touch and caress your body for at least ten minutes or so.
The feeling was amazing and you began to fantasise as you felt his hands skate around your thighs to just touch at the inner sides, mere centimetres away from your mound.  You felt his hands creep slowly closer but withdraw again, making you whimper at the denial.
Cillian very carefully avoided any contact with your already soaking pussy and, instead, began working his hands around to your outer thighs. You groaned in disappointment and you heard his faint chuckle.
You took a deep breath and tried to concentrate on the movement of his big strong hands again and sighed as you let the breath out.
‘Did you just sigh at me?’ Cillian asked cheekily as, suddenly, he smacked your ass.
‘I am sorry sir’ you squeaked and felt the cool air once again caress your pussy, making you realise just how wet and wanting you were from all of his teasing.
The pull on your ass cheeks stopped and you heard him groan before the mattress moved and you realised he had moved from the bed. You groaned in frustrated need as he stood there gazing down at you for long minutes.
But then, unexpectedly, there was a blow. The blow, when it came, was light and not at all painful, but made you squeak and your head come up in surprise as you registered what had happened.
‘Too light?’ Cillian questioned almost to himself.
The next blow You felt immediately as it landed over the first and made you hiss between closed teeth and lips and became clear to you that it was the leather strip that was coming down on your ass.
‘How do you feel?’ Cillian asked.
‘Green’ you whispered breathily, the heat from the blow starting to warm your ass. Three more blows came on the other cheek, seeming to hit in the same spot and stinging you with their heat.
‘Y/N?’ he questioned.
‘Green’ you said in a whimpering moan.
‘This is going to be more fun than I imagined then’ he taunted your and let loose a barrage of blows across your ass and upper thighs, making you moan loudly.
‘That’s a good girl’ Cillian praised the louder moan that had escaped your lips. ‘How are you feeling?’ he asked as he paused.
‘Green’ you moaned in a purring way as you settled into the heat and subtle pain of your ass and thighs.
‘Ready?’ he asked, adoring the way you had answered him and enjoying the moment more than he could ever remember in the past. He saw your body tremble in anticipation and raised the strap again.
The first few strikes across the cheeks of your ass seemed lighter to you, as if just reheating the marks already imprinted on your skin. The warmth and sensations they caused were more than manageable, and you never thought to warn him by changing your colour of answer when he asked again. As he continued the increasing intensity of the strikes against your skin, they began to overwhelm you a little more as he worked the strap back down your thighs, giving your ass a small reprieve.
Your head spun, and a deep, intense rush of adrenaline shot through you, firing your brain and numbing the burning hot sting of your ass. You barely heard the words as he demanded to know how you were feeling, and you groaned out green again, feeling your body react not only to the strikes of his strap but also his commanding voice.
Cillian paused and ran his hands over your now burning skin, feeling the heat radiating from it and hearing your soft whimpering as he squeezed the fiery cheeks of your ass.
‘Unbelievable’ Cillian groaned and started to massage the colourful flesh of your ass again, revelling in your ability to take so much from him.
‘Finally, you relax’ he chuckled as he rewarded you by sliding a finger through your slick lips to tease you for a minute.
‘And you are so fucking wet too’ he then observed as he watched your hips buck almost involuntarily as he finally touched your pussy. You felt the teasing finger travel through your folds and playfully teasing at your clit, making your let out a purring moan of appreciation and test the bonds that held your arms above your head.
‘You are something else Y/N’ Cillian murmured in a pleased light tone, and began to insert a finger into you, marvelling at how tight you felt like this and feeling your muscles clutch at his finger as if wanting to draw it deeper. The tension soon became to much for you and you tried to grind yourself against his hand.
‘No! Don’t move’ Cillian scolded, withdrawing his finger and smacking your ass again. ‘Remember who is in control?’ he murmured darkly. ‘Let's try this again, shall we? Cillian then asked as he reinserted his finger and curled it down, seeking out the rough area of skin within your that would push your over the edge.
You whimpered in high purring moans, and when he added a second finger to the first massaging your g-spot with force, you couldn't control the rock of your hips as you built up to what promised to be an earth-shattering climax. Once again Cillian withdrew his fingers and smacked your ass even harder than before, making you cry out even louder.
‘Think carefully before you move!’ Cillian growled. ‘How are you feeling?’ he asked, and watched your take a shaky breath as you thought about what was happening.
‘Green’ you whimpered again.
‘Good’ Cillian said as he moved back down your body to kneel on the end of the bed again and grasped your hips in both hands, raising them and encouraging you to pull your knees below you to hold the position while your ankles were still spread apart.
On your knees, you felt the muscles in your thighs and ass stretch and pull at your damaged skin, and you whimpered softly as you knelt with your ass high and your head low against the mattress where your arms were chained forward and in place.
You concentrated on these feelings of discomfort as he once again pushed his fingers into you and continued to massage your g-spot, bringing you rapidly back to the point you had been only minutes before. You desperately tried not to grind back against his hand, realising your mistake now, but as the muscles in your thighs and ass continued to burn.
Cillian watched you carefully for all of the tell-tale signs that you were close to coming. You were panting heavily, and your body seemed to shudder as you tried to maintain your position for him. The sounds you made became increasingly higher pitched and, as he saw the muscles in your thighs trembling, he withdrew his fingers, leaving you on the edge of what would have been an amazing climax.
‘Remember to ask me for permission if you want to come?’ Cillian said in a low voice as you cried out, your body moving to seek the renewed contact, and he smacked you, pulling your legs from under your so that you landed heavily back onto the bed whimpering softly.
‘I was so close’ you whimpered piteously.’
‘Well, that’s too bad, isn’t it? In fact, you should really be punished for trying to come without my permission’ Cillian then said.
‘Punished?’ you asked somewhat worried as you looked at him.
‘I had thought about spanking you and leaving it at that, but it seems you enjoyed that a lot more than I had considered you would’ Cillian grinned. ‘Which I am more than pleased about, believe me’ he added with an elvish smile before he hoovered back over you.
‘Hmm, what am I going to do to you?’ Cillian murmured, moving forward to whisper huskily close to your ear. The movement had his cock lightly dragging up your back and you could feel how hard he was despite of the fabric of the briefs separating your skin from his.
You tried desperately not to think about how much you wanted to feel him inside you right at that moment, and you closed your eyes, trying to relax, but the feel of his mostly naked body against you was almost too much to bear.
Again, you wiggled your body against him as he briefly ran his hand over your mound.
‘So wet and needy’ he commented as his hand skated down over the lips of your pussy. Inserting one finger in you, he murmured ‘and so tight.’
‘That is a result of all your teasing. Please just fuck me’ you purred, feeling your arousal build again as he slowly moved his finger in and out of your tight hole.
You then felt the finger withdraw from you again and his body lean over yours as Cillian unstrapped you from the bedhead and removed the metal bar in between your ankles, but leaving the cuffs in situ for later perusal.
‘How are you feeling?’ he asked.
‘Green’ you sighed and gave a small smile.
‘Good’ he then said before pulling you up into his arms.
Your heart began to race and you looked into his deep blue eyes seeing your own need and desire reflected back at you.
Cillian stood and helped you from the bed before he led you to a waist-high padded bench on the other side of the room, and once again Cillian pulled your arms back and joined your wrist cuffs together behind your back as you stood perfectly still. He went to a panel on the wall and retrieved another slightly shorter metal bar and bent to your ankles, attaching them to rings on the cuffs before lengthening the bar and pushing your feet widely apart.
‘Fuck, look at you’ he groaned, finally standing in front of you. His hands cupped your breasts and he lowered his head to one nipple, biting it without much force but enough to make you whimper. His fingers worked at the soft flesh as his mouth continued to tease both nipples to hard points.
‘Do you know what these are?’ he asked, tilting his head.
‘Clamps?’ you questioned in return and gave him a concerned stare.
‘Yes’ he said with a husky voice, rolling your nipple between his thumb and forefinger. Then, he attached one to your nipple, and you found that, to your surprise, it was easily bearable.
You looked down as he attached the second clamp and let the chain swing freely between your breasts.
‘Hmm’ you moaned, biting your lip just as he tugged on the chain slightly until he saw your grimace.
‘How are you feeling? Cillian asked.
‘Still green, just’ you breathed, not wanting him to tighten them any further.
‘I was hoping for amber’ he smirked and gave the chain a small tug again, causing you to whimper and clench your teeth.
‘Do we have amber?’ he asked in a deep husky voice.
‘Yes fuck, oh god…amber’ you shouted out as Cillian watched you bite your lip.
‘Your nipples are sensitive’ he grinned before telling you again to stay still as he walked away from you momentarily.
‘Oh god, no’ you huffed out, breathing heavily as he returned with the candles, he had earlier lit and placed on one of the shelves.
You had read about this and knew that the hot wax would soon be covering part of your body.
After sharing a passionate kiss, you reluctantly nodded and Cillian captured your eyes with his own as he tilted the candle, slowly pouring hot wax over the skin of your breasts, making you gasp and whine in a long-drawn-out sound.
‘How are you feeling?’ he asked once both sides of your breasts were covered with cooling white dots of wax, making the skin around the dots of wax change colour and feed his arousal.
‘Amber’ you looked at him with teary eyes.
Cillian knew that it was the clamps that were causing you the most discomfort, and realising this was your first experience with them decided not to leave them in place any longer. He pulled the chain with a quick tug, making the clamps dig deeply into you before finally sliding free and making your cry out and rock in your stance. He moved to support you, his head lowering to capture and soothe a nipple in his mouth as he fingers gently massaged the other back to life. He spent long minutes going from one to the other as you whimpered softly, and when he finally stepped back he groaned deeply.
There were tear tracks in your make-up, and, where the wax had peeled and flaked away, large splotches marked your skin. Cillian was beyond turned on by the mere sight of you. So much so that he had to consciously get control of himself and breathe deeply.
‘How do you feel?’ he asked softly, reaching out to run a finger over your breast, flicking away some of the larger spots of wax.
‘Green again, I think’ you huffed and you couldn’t believe that, by that point, you were dripping onto the floor. To your surprise, the pain and Cillian pushing your limits turned you on.
‘So sensitive’ Cillian smiled as he played with your nipples again before he lowered his head and dropped a kiss on each one, still trying to regain control of his need to stop the game and just fuck you.
‘Please fuck me Cillian’ you begged, and every other thought about gaining control of his desires fled from Cillian's mind. He picked you up, turning you around and pushed you down over the bench you stood beside. He stepped behind you and thrust into you with a deep groan, stilling his movements for several minutes before pulling back, leaving only the head of his cock embedded in you.
‘You were so eager to have me finger fuck you earlier that you couldn't control yourself from pushing onto my hand. Let's see how well you can hold still now’ Cillian said, groaning deeply as he was all the way inside you and started to drip more wax onto your lower back, making you lurch forward again and turn your head, straining to see him and the candle he now held.
‘How are you feeling?’ he asked.
‘Green’ you replied automatically and the wax thankfully cooled fast in the small trickle that had run over the top of your ass and down your thigh.
You were desperate for traction, but he gave you none. You felt his cock pulsate inside of you as he poured more wax onto you. You didn't pull away quite so much this time and, for your good behaviour, you were rewarded with several long and steady thrusts, causing you to moan loudly.
You caught on to his game fairly rapidly and, the next time the wax dripped onto your skin, you remained still so that he would continue to fuck you.
Cillian enjoyed your whimpers and jerky movements as he used the wax several more times before finally losing his battle against himself and pushing you forward and pumping into you hard and fast. Aware that he had denied you continually earlier, he used his fingers on your clit and felt you stiffen and arch your back against him.
‘Sir, may I come, please’ you groaned just before the first of your climaxes rolled through your body.
‘Yes princess. You did well’ he finally said and his free hand gripped one of your breasts and held you in the strange hard arch as he continued to fuck you remorselessly, and he felt you shudder and cry out as your orgasm ripped through you.
‘Oh god yes fuck’ you moaned and screamed as you climaxed in a way you never had before and Cillian was soon losing his own battle against his orgasm, but he continued on; one hand working your clit and the other mauling your breast as he pounded you as hard as he could.
Then, another climax rocked you physically, almost causing you to pass out.
By this point, Cillian couldn’t hold on much longer either and, with a loud groan and two more thrusts, he came as hard as you did, spilling his cum deep inside you.
‘Fuck’ Cillian cursed, and with unknown reserves he picked you up and staggered to the bed, freeing you from the bonds on your arms and legs. He felt your pulse and checked your breathing before climbing onto the bed beside you and cradling you in his arms.
‘How are you feeling?’ he then asked, kissing your neck gently as he did.
‘Fucking fantastic’ you murmured as you watched Cillian look all over your body, taking in the marks he had left.
‘I want to do this again…the orgasm after all this, it was out of this world’ you huffed out.
‘I told you it was about pleasure and not just pain’ Cillian said before he groaned deep in his chest as his arousal began to grow again. He didn't think he could ever tire of having you like this.
‘Oh my, eager are we sir?’ you giggled as your breathing had finally returned to normal after all this and you sat up, leaned down and kissed Cillian passionately.
Without giving him a chance to assert dominance over you again, you were quick to climb on top of him and lower yourself down onto his hard cock.
To your surprise, he didn’t protest as you began to fuck him and his warm hands soon found your breasts where he flicked his fingers over your nipples.
‘Oh god, fuck’ you moaned as you rode him and felt the heat seep into your body and the tendrils of pain that radiated from your nipples spread out, helping you climb toward yet another huge climax.
Cillian dropped his hand and, taking careful aim, he spanked you, adding to the already bruised flesh of your ass. You whimpered and moaned, the combined sound once again coming out as a heated high-pitched purr as you rode him and ground down onto his cock. He alternated between the two areas, your breasts and your ass, and reached out to steady you as you arched hard, pushing down into him and shaking almost violently as you came again. The sight of you looking well used and trembling in ecstasy was enough for him to give into the milking muscles of your pussy. He came with you, coating your insides once more with his seed before pulling you down on top of him once your body had relaxed out of the hard arch, and he held you tightly, stroking your hair as you settled back down to earth along with him.
‘I never knew it could be this good’ you whispered as you stroked your hand over Cillian's chest and lay there listening to his racing heartbeat slow.
‘I must say, I never enjoyed it as much as I did tonight with you’ Cillian said gently before kissing you passionately once more.
‘How about we get some sleep, hmm?’ he then asked as he sat up and you momentarily thought that this is where you would be sleeping together.
To your surprise, Cillian was quick to pick you up and carry you upstairs to what clearly was his bedroom.
He then placed you onto the large bed, climbed in next to you and covered both your bodies with the large doona.
After spending aa good two hours together in the basement, you were exhausted and, after a few kisses it didn’t take you long to fall asleep in Cillian’s arm.
***
The following morning you both were woken up by the doorbell ringing at around 8 o’clock.
‘Are you expecting anyone?’ you asked still half asleep and Cillian shook his head before getting up and grabbing a t-shirt from his wardrobe.
‘Coming’ Cillian yelled out as the doorbell rang a second time and he was already on his way downstairs.
Unsure what was going on, you got dressed with whatever you found in Cillian’s cabinet and, when you heard the door for a second time after about ten minutes, you made your way downstairs thinking that, whoever came to visit, had now left.
To your surprise, this wasn’t the case when you saw two women stand in Cillian’s kitchen, making themselves a cup of coffee.
‘Oh hello there.... Cilly, you didn’t tell us you had company’ the blonde woman in her mid-sixties said with a wide a smile before introducing herself to you.
‘I am Leanne, Cillian’s mother’ she said as she quickly grabbed another cup from the cabinet for you.
‘I am Y/N, nice to meet you’ you said somewhat embarrassed before you recalled having seen the other woman who was standing in Cillian’s kitchen before. It was Cillian’s sister who he had dinner with at the restaurant that night he asked you out.
After Cillian introduced you to his sister, he mentioned to you that his mother likes to come and visit unannounced whenever she stays with his sister and the grandchildren.
‘Well darling, I just need to make sure my son is doing alright and has enough to eat’ she said with a wink as she unpacked a whole big rattan basket full of homemade scones, jam and some homemade bread.
‘I always told him that he needs a good woman in his life’ she then said as she walked over towards you and handed you one of the scones.
‘Scones for breakfast?’ Cillian chuckled as he watched his mother inspecting you.
‘Love, you have something stuck to your hair…may I?’ his mum then asked and you turned around which is when she pulled a bit of wax from the back of your neck and hair.
‘Looks like wax’ she then chuckled before putting the piece of candle wax on the kitchen bench.
Her actions caused you to flush with embarrassment and you hoped that she wouldn’t notice the marks on your legs and wrists from where the cuffs were affixed the evening before.
‘Well, Y/N does like candles’ Cillian smirked as he bit into his scone almost unbothered by his mother’s presence.
‘Oh Love, you should come to the farmers markets with us then. We are leaving at 10 o’clock. They have fantastic home-made candles for sale. Then you could come and have lunch with us. I always make a roast on Sundays’ Cillian’s mother suggested.
‘Mum’s roast is the best. Do you want to come? I might even come along to the markets, eh’ Cillian then said, catching you by surprise.
‘Yes, uhm…I would love to. Thank you’ you responded shyly.

Ok thanks. What do you think about Stucky comforting reader for some reason?
A/n: Hiii. I hope this is ok! My first time writing stucky x reader but it was cool. I might just have to do an expanded Stucky fic 👀
~
It's well known throughout the Avengers that y/n is the kryptonite to every super soldier. At least she is to the two super soldiers they know, because only she can turn Steve and Bucky into overbearing boyfriends.
"Sam, do you have eyes on y/n and Nat?"
Steve grunts, kicking his attacker square in the chest and sending the man to the pavement. Bucky's follows closely behind, the former soldier slamming his own attacker into the ground so hard it cracks under his spine. Both lie there in a heap of sweat and blood.
"Sam?" Bucky asks angrily when they receive no response. Behind them, Wands and Tony shift through the rubble and debris of the two buildings that had been attacked, blown to pieces by the terrorist group in front of them. With civilian casualties high, y/n and Nat had taken up the job of evacuating everyone within the threatened area. But it's been too long since he's heard anything from the two through their comms.
"I've got sights on Nat but y/n is no where to be seen."
Another fly over from Sam, this time closer to the ground but still nothing certain on the missing Avenger. "I've got heat signatures in a damaged office building over here but I can't tell if it's her or not."
Steve and Bucky share a look, concerned for their girl as always, and begin heading over to the building.
"Romanoff you better fucking answer!" Bucky spits into his comms, boots crunching in the rubble under his feet.
A static breaks through, followed by the breathless voice of Natasha. "You're not the only one fighting terrorists Barnes," she bites back. "I cleared the west blocks, lost y/n when she went east. I'm guessing her comms are down."
"Was she evacuating the buildings?" Steve asks, approaching the block y/n is supposedly on.
"Think so. The one closest to you guys. She was worried it'd come down from the blast."
Steve and Bucky pick up the pace, relief flooding through them when a group of civilians rushes out of the building y/n was clearing.
"Is anyone still inside?" Steve asks them, while Bucky cranes his head up to look through the shattered windows. Before any of the survivors can answer, the building behind to rumble, the boom of an explosion going off cutting off whatever answer was being given.
Immediately shielding the civilians, Steve looks up in horror just in time to see the building split into two crumpled pieces, the top half collapsing into the building next to it.
~
There's a ringing in her ears, throbbing in her head and the taste of iron floods her mouth. Groaning, she lifts herself up enough to find that she's braced against a column, smoke and dust clouding her vision but she knows that something is off. The world around her has tilted, leaving the walls as the ground beneath her feet.
An explosion, she concludes, racking her brain for what she'd been doing when the bomb went off. A civilian, she remembers, the last one on the top floor, a young intern frozen in fear as battle rang out around him. Forgetting that she lost her comms in a fight earlier, she reaches for ear to call for backup. Instead, she's met with slick, warm blood and a tender skull.
Grey, the boy's name had been Grey. He'd told her during her attempt to guide him out from under his desk.
"I promise I can get you outta here Grey." She had sworn, and she intends to fulfill that. Unsteadily, she rides to her feet, balancing herself on the rubble around her.
"Grey?" She calls out, voice rough. "Grey if you're here I need a noise, a movement, something!"
She strains her eyes, searching through the mess of grey and charred black. Finally, a flash of ash ridden green, the color he'd been wearing. She watches as he rises to his knees, a gash on his forehead and blood dripping from his ears too.
Quick but careful, she makes her way through destroyed desks and crumpled walls until she's close enough to see how utterly screwed Grey is. A window. He's balanced on a cracked window, one surrounding by other empty window panes.
The boy trembles, helpless as his terrified eyes find hers. She burries her panic, doing her best to appear calm and confident.
"It's ok," she comforts, "I just need you stay very still ok? Let me come to you."
Grey nods, lip wavering in fear. Y/n takes a deep breath, hesitantly stepping onto the panel between two broken windows. When it holds her weight easily, she continues.
"Its breaking," Grey says weakly, peering down the splintering window at the street below them. Y/n doesn't get a good look, but she thinks she can make out two familiar men below. Steve and Bucky. Relief floods through her. They'll send Sam, she just needs to get Grey off that window.
"Don't look down," she instructs, "look at me. Keep your eyes on me."
He complies, tear filled eyes meeting hers again. It's a slow progress, checking the beams to find which ones she can walk on. She does her best to distract Grey, telling him of Sam and the boys below, how she knows they'll be up soon to help. Until then, he's gotta trust her.
"I do," he swears, "I trust you."
And there's relief when she gets a window away from him, prepared to quickly tug him to safety after she steadies her feet. But then the ripped half of the building is quivering, dropping a few feet down and the window is breaking before she gets enough time to grab him.
Panicked, she throws herself out of the window after him, left hand gripping the window pane while the right locks around his wrist. The pull in her shoulder is almost paralyzing as his weight comes to an abrupt stop. She's fairly certain it's dislocated or at the least something's torn, but the adrenaline in her veins keeps her grip strong.
"Y/n!"
Her feet dangle wildly, Grey squeezing her hand for dear life as he hangs 60 feet above ground. Steve and Bucky call out for her, something she doesn't quite pick up because she's too busy trying to calm Grey's hyperventilating body. He's wiggling, panicking, legs swinging in a frenzy like they're trying to find solid ground.
"Grey I need you to stop, if you keep moving I'll slip." As if proving her point, the sweat on her palm becomes slippery. He listens, for the most part, but he can't help the way his body quivers and shakes with cries.
"Sam's grounded!" Steve shouts from below, a panic in his voice she's not used to. "Hang on sweetheart, Stark is coming!"
She doesn't answer, can't answer because her muscles and tendons are screaming and burning, begging her to let go, and the fingers in Grey's hold have gone numb. A few more seconds, painfully long seconds, and the sound of the Iron Man suit floods her ears. Another brief moment of relief, one that also doesn't last because Grey has lost his grip and before she can even think of instructing to him to just hold on for one more second, she loses her grip on the boy and his scream overpowers Tony's thrusters as he falls to the pavement below.
~
Tony got her down safely. Caught her mid fall after she'd jumped after Grey in a weak attempt to save him. By the time her feet touch the ground, she's bolting, heading for the backside of the building where the body of the boy sits. The weak swing of her shoulder and the limp in her right leg slows her down, enough for Bucky to easily catch up to her and halt her. She fights his hold, desperate as he shushes and calms her.
Steve follows closely behind, assisting Bucky in taking care of their girl. Somehow, through a haze they get her to the Quinjet, both working on cleaning up her wounds during the painfully silent flight home. Y/n remains dazed and quiet as they take her to her bedroom, getting her in the shower, bandaged and dressed. Bucky is brushing out her wet hair on the edge of the bed while Steve fluffs the pillows when she finally speaks.
"I had him," she says, voice wavering. "I just needed a few more seconds. If I had held on-"
"Don't do that doll," Bucky interrupts sternly, pulling her into his lap. "don't think about the what ifs, you saved so many lives today. You did what you were supposed to."
She doesn't say anything but they know her well enough to know that she still doesn't believe them. Steve moves to sit next to them, wrapping one arm around her and one around Bucky.
"This job doesn't come without casualties sweetheart, we all know that. You stopped as many as you could and we're so proud of you for that."
His words bring her to tears, painful, heart cutting sobs that force both super soldiers to bite back their own tears. They hold her even tighter, soothing her with kisses and promises of making it better, of assuring her that it won't always hurt.
And once she's all cried out, puffy eyes and bones like cooked noodles, they tuck her into the middle of the bed, sandwiching her between their strong, warm bodies. Somewhere safe and comforting, where she can rest knowing they've got her and they won't be letting go anytime soon.

could you please write something like tom and actress reader obviously like each other but they haven't taken it further yet bc reader is scared it will mess up their friendship but they're still flirting with each other at comic con panels or interviews for spiderman? 🙏
Flirts.
A/N: I love this, thank you so much for sending it in and thank you for your patience in me getting back to you. I hope you enjoy 💕
Warnings: Suggestive content.
You and Tom had been close for years, ever since you met on the set of Civil War, you had a close bond. He was there for some hard points in his life and vice versa, you kept each other grounded. Most people thought you were together, theories that you'd been together for a long time, engaged even, the two of you would laugh it off.
Of course you were in love with him, you had feelings for him, had for a long time. But you had such a close bond that you just couldn't jeopardize, not for anything. You also didn't wanna make things awkward because you had a few films left to film together.
You had a very flirty relationship and this extended to interviews, Zendaya had asked multiple times why you weren't together.
"Z, I've been over this." You groaned, you were in your trailer having a few drinks together.
"Yeah and I'd understand if it wasn't so obvious that you were into each other." She said with a laugh.
"I don't know," you groaned. "Why are you hassling me, he hasn't said or done anything either." You tried to end the conversation.
"I'm talking to you about it, I don't need to talk to Tom, it's so obvious how he feels, no one needs to ask."
"Z, please can we not?"
"You are so close though."
"Which is why I don't wanna ruin it."
"Y/N, I'm close to Tom but you two are different."
**
"So Y/N? Celebrity crush?" The interviewer said.
"I would have to say Tom." You said and Tom looked at you with a wide smile.
"I knew it." He fist pumped the air. "You're mine to." He said with a wink.
"Oh sorry, I meant Hardy." You smirked and Tom almost visibly deflated.
"Well that's my dreams shattered." Tom said and everyone laughed. "I feel emotional wounded."
"Aw it's okay, I'll keep in my heart that I'm your crush."
"I changed my mind."
"No take backs Tom."
**
"I have a question for Y/N." A fan said as they stood up at comic con. "How do you do all those scenes with Tom when he's topless, do you get distracted?"
"Oh massively, all the time. It's a wonder these films ever get finished." You answered as Sebastian laughed.
"In between all the flirting these two do, I agree, it's a wonder we ever finish filming." Anthony chimed in and you laughed. "You should see her face when Tom walks around set, just love eyes all the time." He added.
"That's good to know." Tom laughed as he placed a hand on your knee which sent the fans into a frenzy.
"Like this one can talk," Sebastian said. "He literally looks at her like no one else exists, I am convinced they are dating and it's the best kept secret ever."
"Are you?" The host asked the two of you and everyone watched as you both smiled at each other.
"No." You answered at the same time. "Just really close." Tom added and your heart did a flip, he didn't use the word 'friends' like you expected him to, like he usually did.
"You know, we had to do this scene and Y/N here decided to do her own stunt and somehow knocked herself out," Anthony started and you groaned. "And this one?" He said as he clapped Tom's shoulder. "Wow, you should've seen him, you'd have thought she'd nearly died."
"I was just making sure she was okay." Tom defended himself.
"It's because he's in love with me obviously." You said as you leant your head on Tom's shoulder and he put his head on top of yours.
"Secrets out." He teased, placing a kiss to your head as you laughed and playfully shoved him.
**
"So who's seen Y/N's recent film?" The interviewer asked and almost all the cast raised their hands. "Because there was a lot of her in that." He added.
"Tom's seen it loads, but he always watches it alone." Anthony teased as you laughed.
"It was a good film!" Tom said in defence.
"Oh yeah? Which bit is your favourite." Anthony asked.
"You know the bit with the-"
"Y/N's sex scene?" Anthony interjected as Tom laughed embarrassed.
"Yeah that bit was pretty good." Tom said through a laugh, both of your hands where now covering your face in embarrassment as you shook your head.
**
"So are you both aware that people write fanfiction about the two of you?" The interviewer asked and Tom burst into a fit of giggles, you kept a straight face as you looked at the interviewer.
"Yes."
"Oh really? How'd you know?"
"I write it." You said as a laugh escaped your throat.
"Based on real life events." Tom added and you both burst into laughter as his head fell on your shoulder and a hand rested on your thigh, high enough to get your heart racing.
"Have you ever read any?" The interviewer asked, amused look on his face.
"Oh loads." You said sarcastically.
"It's just about the only reading I do aside from reading a script." Tom snorted.
**
"You and Tom are close?" Graham Norton asked as he pulled up a picture you'd taken and posted to Instagram.
"Yeah, we are." You said with a smile.
"Be honest here, is there anything else going on?"
"No." You shook your head.
"Seriously?"
"Yup. Just really close."
**
It'd been a long day of promo, everyone was quite tired. You yawned as you sat on the couch in the dressing room, Tom joining you.
"You tired?" He asked as he looked at you.
"Yeah." You yawned as you held back another yawn.
"Come here." He said as he coaxed you to lay your head in his lap, something you'd done a thousand times. What you weren't expecting were Tom's hands massaging your scalp and the way you instantly relaxed into it.
"You should get some sleep." He said as he lent over to look at you and gave you a kiss on the forehead, yet another action you weren't prepared for. You were to tired to fight or question it as you felt yourself succumb to sleep.
**
"Now, Y/N L/N," Graham started with. "The last time you were on my sofa I felt lied to." He said and you placed your face in your hand, knowing what was coming as you heard him laugh.
"Did you?" You squeaked out as Graham pulled up a picture from the other night.
"Yes, now if we study this picture for a second. Daniel Radcliffe what would you say is going on here?" Graham teased as you fanned a hand over your face to cool your rising temperature.
"I mean it looks like Y/N's kissing Tom Holland but I could be wrong." Daniel shrugged as the audience and the other celebs burst into laughter.
"It does doesn't it. Y/N, you told me you were close and nothing else was going on but can you tell me what was happening here?" He asked as you looked at him, smiling in embarrassment.
"I, we, I don't." You stuttered out.
"Leave the poor girl alone, she looks like she's about to combust." Emily Blunt defended you as you shook your head and took a deep breath.
"I technically didn't lie, not when I was last here. We really were just friends then." You said.
"So you're not now?" Graham clarified.
"Sorry?" You tried to dodge the question.
"Just friends, you're not just friends now?" He said with that signature grin.
"No." You huffed in defeat as everyone erupted into squeals and cheers.
"When did this happen?" He pried and you smiled.
"Around eighteen months ago." You clarified.
"And who made the first move?"
"He did. Well, no, I suppose we both did." You said. "It was after the last movie came out. We had a bit of an argument about something and the next thing I know we were kissing, I'm not really sure who kissed who first." You said and Graham laughed.
"But now you're official?" Graham asked and you nodded.
"I mean they've been in love for years, trust me. I'm happy they decided to give into it." Robert Downey Jr said from next to you as you smiled shyly. He was here promoting a different movie and it had been good too see him again.
"So is the other rumour true?" Graham asked. To say you'd been together for eighteen months you kept things pretty quiet, both being private people. You never denied the rumours but you hadn't properly confirmed them either.
"What rumour?" You asked, knowing exactly which one he was probably talking about.
"You know," he said as he held his cards up to his face, feigning being discreet. "The engagement rumours?" He said as you placed a hand on your face to hide your embarrassed laugh and smile, holding your left hand up for the audience to see and when they did, they erupted yet again into a fit of screams and cheers.

NYX
Tumblr media
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: Nyx was a legend, others referred to her as a myth of a bygone era, but so was the Winter Soldier once. The two shared a common past and now a common mission. However, their feelings for one another could danger their goal.
Word Count: 4,403
Authors Note: This story is inspired by the Marvel Comics with Bucky Barnes and Natasha Romanoff and Falcon and the Winter Soldier Series.
+ nyx =  /Nýx/ - the Greek goddess (or personification) of the night. A shadowy figure.
____________________________________
“I was their secret weapon...or at least I was one of them. She was another. Something about her touched what was left of my humanity. Buried under all that programming.” Bucky touched the back of his neck. “A long time ago, Y/N made me remember what it was to feel human.”
____________________________________
MADRIPOOR - Low Town:
After several weeks of looking for clues to the "Flag Smashers", your way brought you to Madripoor. One of the most criminal cities in the world. If you didn't want to be robbed or even die here immediately, you had to be someone and have made a name for yourself. It's good that you already had that.
“Nyx”, Your informant greeted you. “Where’s my money?”
You smirked. “Do I have to remind you what happens, if you keep talking to me in that tone?”
You wanted to take a sip of the bourbon you had just ordered, but your informant knocked it out of your hand and the glass broke on the floor. Before the glass hit the floor, you grabbed him by his throat and pushed him down on the counter.
The bar owner, Jerry, wanted to interfere. His bar was the only one in Madripoor with zero tolerance against violence, if you wanted to fight you should do it outside.
You raised your finger and showed the owner that he should wait, he also knew who you were, which was why he repected you.
“Do you know how hard it is to find a good bar with my favorite bourbon in Madripoor?” The guy shook his head while you gripped tighter. “No? now let me tell you - it's as hard as really doing anything with your expensive information.” You let go of him.
“I-I told you everything, I know.”
“I-I” You laughed. “Remembered who I am, huh?” You ordered another Bourbon. “So, first of all, this drink, you’ll pay for it.” You took a sip and smiled. “Next, you’re going to tell me all you know about Kali and then I’ll pay you.”
You didn't get an answer, but you realized he still knew something when he nervously looked at his phone. You rolled your eyes, stood up, and turned around. "Jerry, I'm really sorry but I tried the nice way." You slightly pulled your dress up and took out your gun, turned to the informant and released the fuse.
“Phone,” You winded your eyes, “now!”
You rolled your eyes, still pointing at the guy. “Zemo - High Town, you’ve got to be kidding me.”  You put your gun back and broke his phone. “I’m very disappointed and our Deal is over, don’t make a mistake - don’t follow me.” You spoke serious. “Or it's the last thing you'll ever do.”
____________________________________
MADRIPOOR - High Town - Brass Monkey Saloon:
High Town in Madripoor was way different than Low Town. More drugs, weapons sex, rich people and power. The petty criminals were no longer represented here; criminal elite were gathered here.
“Nyx,” The Bartender greeted you. “Long time no see even though you look stunning in that dress (X), thought you were done with this life.”
“Well, a girl has to eat,” You smirked. “And to drink.”
The bartender smiled and brought you your favorite bourbon. “Did you hear the rumors about Zemo?”
“Heard he’s back in town.” You took a sip of your glas.
He raised his eybrow. “This Bastard is accompanied by the Winter Soldier.”
You choked. He patted you on the shoulder. After you were sure you hadn't misheard, you inspected the club more closely.
You looked at the Bartender, “You never saw me.” he nodded.
You nervously went to the ladies' room. You’ve heard that James was still alive and that he now had a part of his memory back, so you thought he had stopped being the Winter Soldier and started a life of his own outside of H.Y.D.R.A.. But now that he was Zemo's company you thought about following them and finding out what that their Partnership was about.
You checked whether there was anyone else in the toilet besides you and when you were sure that you were alone, you took a deep breath and turned on the water. You suddenly got a slight headache and grabbed your head, when you looked at yourself in the mirror, your flashbacks started.
____________________________________
Ages ago - Red Room:
You were one of the best and yet you always had to prove it. After you had defeated each of your fellow campaigners, your leaders were still not satisfied and they let you fight the Winter Soldier - again
“AGAIN!” The Winter Soldier shouted and you fell you arm would break if you’d hit him again.
“AGAIN!”
“AGAIN!”
“James, I-I need a break.”
“What did you just call me?” He asked as he noticed the penetrating looks of the other woman and you remembered that nobody should now.
The Winter Soldier knocked you out.
____________________________________
After James knocked you out, you were brought to your room, you woke up hours later. You touched your head and noticed the bump he gave you.
"Stupid, bastard." You mumbled.
“I’m sorry, you know I had to.” You recognized his voice.
You looked around and saw his silhouette sitting in the corner, presumably he came through the window into your room again, like so many times before.
You shook your head, “No, I am sorry. I've put both of us in danger”
Bucky got up and went to you. He let his right hand slowly slide up over your arm to your neck and finally to your head, he too felt the bump. You felt his guilt, but you knew he would never really hurt you.
“Stop it.” You wrapped your arms around his neck. “James, you know I could’ve easily taken you down.” You smirked.
Because of him, you could endure the whole ordeal at all. If he just looked at you, you lost yourself in his blue eyes and if he held you in his arms he gave you a warm home. He was your anchor to carry on every day and you were his.
“I told you to call me Bucky.”
You pulled him closer to you, “I’m glad that you start to remember who you’re.”
He put his hands gently around your waist and pulled you closer as he slowly leaned in to kiss you.
____________________________________
After cooling your wrists and neck, your pulse calmed down and the flashbacks were gone.
“Thankfully I have often had to look out from above in this God-forsaken place.”
You jumped on one of the sinks and pushed a panel of the roof aside. You pulled yourself up and crawled back to the dance floor so that no one could see you but you could see everyone.
You spotted Zemo, so it wasn't a rumor and he really was back, but you haven't been able to locate Bucky yet. But it was strange for Zemo that his companion was smiling Tiger.
You were a little rusty in lip reading but you understood that he wanted to talk to Shelby. This would have been your next step too. The mood in the club began to turn. People started staring at Zemo as one of Powerbroker's bodyguards made himself known.
“Зимний солдат атака” Zemo ordered.
“No” You covered your mouth with your hands.
Bucky stepped out of the shadows and was now clearly in your field of vision. He didn't see you, it seemed as if he only saw what he always saw first - an order and his mission. He was ready to comply. He attacked the men who were trying to get Zemo.
Elegant and graceful like a cat, you glide silently along the steel girders,  and watched every movement of James, did Zemo really manage to turn him into his personal puppet?
Bucky knocked down man after man as if they were nothing. Your pulse went faster and your movements on the steel beams became more uncontrolled as you followed his fight. Your heart felt the urge to intervene, you reminded Bucky so many times who he was - not any ones weapon, that you stopped counting and seeing him like this again felt like you had failed him.
When you were almost about to fall, people simultaneously pulled out their guns. James stopped fighting and was called back by Zemo. You regained control of your heartbeat and your body relaxed, which helped you to find your balance again.
The bartender informed Zemo that the three would now be welcomed by Shelby.
You couldn't follow them any further without getting into the line of fire. You waited until they left and slowly made your way down from the steel girders and landed on the floor. People looked at you questioningly.
“What? Lady’s stay out of meaningless fights.” And with that you left the bar.
____________________________________
After a few minutes outside the club you got a message, but it seemed you weren't the only one. Cell phones all around you started chiming, people were chatting and looking around. Shelby placed a pretty high bounty and now everyone would be looking for James
You heard gunshots, “Great.”
Of course, instead of being smart and running away from the gunshots like every other person, you couldn't help but run to exactly where they came from. You hadn't seen Bucky in a long time, but everything in your body demanded to find him before someone could place a bullet between his beautiful ocean eyes.
You saw the bikers who drove behind Bucky and smiling Tiger, you pulled out your gun and fired at them. Two fell, thanks to you, the last one was taken out by a sniper.
“You seem to have a guardian Angel.” Zemo spoke breathless.
“Not quite.”
Bucky recognized this voice, but couldn't place it exactly on a face. He was just sure she wasn't a threat.
A blond woman showed up, “Nice shot. I take it from here,” she looked behind the man. “and you can crawl back into the darkness.” You smirked and nodded.
Before the men could turn around you had already disappeared into the shadows.

Within seconds you were on the roofs of Madripoor and on the way to your hotel. Being so close to Bucky clouded your mind and made you lose sight of your goal.
It helped you to walk over the rooftops in the middle of the night, it was like a release for you. In the night, in the deepest darkness, it was easier to order your thoughts, this is how you had been taught, how he had taught you to focus in case you should lose your way - switch everything dark and only listen to your inner voice.
You remembered him saying those words to you, “Your voice is what makes me lose my focus.” you held your neck and climbed into your Hotelroom through an open window.
After you were in your room, you inspected every inch for cameras, microphones or intruders of any kind, after this you closed every window, every door and every curtain.
“Finally.” You sighed as you pulled of your dress.
You looked even more threatening under your dress. There were small knives on both sides of your ribs and two different guns on your legs. You took everything off and put your weapons aside, all but your favorite gun (X).
“Your place is here.” You spoke soft and placed it under your pillow.
You went to bed and closed your eyes. The room was dark and absolutely silent while your thoughts and memories yelled at you.
____________________________________
“Can we just stay here forever?” You asked while laying in Buckys arms on top of the roof the Academy.
You looked up, the stars merged with the dark night and they seemed to be in perfect harmony.
“Whenever we’re separated, I look at the stars and I think of you. You are my night and I'm your star, he looked at his metal arm,” He tried to make the gun on his body positive. “even if we are often apart from each other, I cannot be without you-”
You lifted yourself up to look at him. “And I cannot be without you.”

MADRIPOOR - High Town - Unknown Place
It was already very late when Bucky, Sam and Zemo arrived at Sharon's apartment. They all wouldn’t have expected that Sharon had such a beautiful and safe hiding place in the middle of Madripoor, plus a successful business.
“How’s the new Cap?” She asked curious.
Bucky sat down on the couch, "Don’t get me started" he said with an annoyed voice.
Sharon scoffed. “Please. You buy into all that stars and stripes bullshit.” She sat next to him. “Before you were his pet psychopath, you were Mr. America!” Sharon chuckled as she noticed Zemo questioning look. “Cap’s best friend.”
Bucky was suprised by Sharon's words, none of them knew this side of her before.
“Wow. She’s kind of awful now.” Bucky mumbled.
Sam gave them an side eye, “Kali Morgenthau and at least seven others have taken the super soldier serum.” He sat down. “We won’t leave until we find the one who cracked the code.”
Sharon turned and stared out her window, “That’d explain her appearance. Either she wants to take it or destroy it.”
“Who?” Zemo asked.
“Nyx” Sharon stood up and got herself a drink.
Bucky stood up and he looked petrified. It was as if he had forgotten how to move or even show any kind of reaction within seconds. As he thought more and more about the day, he had felt her penetrating gaze, even though she was nowwhere to be seen. His heart was racing. Bucky’s eyes ran through the room, every dark corner was inspected, but she wasn’t called NYX for nothing.
Sam noticed Bucky's tense body, everything about him seemed like he was hopelessly overwhelmed with something that piercing his head.
“Hey man. You okay?” Sam gently touched his shoulder.
Zemo looked worried like Bucky would snap again any minute. “What is going on with him?”
Bucky went to Sharon and got worryingly close in her space. “What do you know about her and how can I contact her?”
Bucky's posture was tense. For someone who didn't know him, they might have thought, he would attack Sharon at any moment. But Sharon didn’t step back. She recognized something in his eyes, that she had once seen before, as she looked in Steve Roger’s after her Aunts dead - pain and a broken heart.
“This can’t be.” Sharon raised her eyebrow and crossed her arms. “You’re her-”
“What the hell is going on?” Sam interrupted.
“-Star”
Bucky's eyes blurred, his head started to ache, and he held on to the wall to keep from falling.
“I know you’ll always be with me!” You chuckled and looked into the dark blue night. “You’re my star, you watch out for me.”
He remembered a feminine and warm voice.
“What if they catch us?” You asked him worried.
Bucky gently touched your cheek, “Then I’ll fight them all.” he kissed you.
He remembered the texture of her soft skin and her gently touch.
“You’re not a Monster, no matter how many times they try to convince you - you’re not.”
He remembered how you tried to protect him.
“If you want him, you’ve to kill me first.”
He remembered how you fought for him...
...and how you lost the fight.
Bucky took a deep breath. He came back to himself. He remembered a part of his past that H.Y.D.R.A. left buried deep. A part that made him turn off the Winter Soldier again and again.
His guilt grew. “I need to go.” He mumbled.
Sam came in his way, “Wait!” he sighed. “Talk to me, Buck.”
Sharon scoffed. “One Weapon wants to find the other. NYX is a Myth all around the world, like the Winter Soldier was.” She winked at him. “She’s as strong as an Army, fast like a cheetah, she knows the most diverse fighting techniques and speaks multiple languages-”
“-Okay and?” Zemo rolled his eyes.
“I was the secret weapon of H.Y.D.R.A. ...or at least I was one of them. She was another. Something about her touched what was left of my humanity. Buried under all that programming.” Bucky touched the back of his neck. “A long time ago, Y/N made me remember what it was to feel human.”
Sam held his head. “She saved us today. Well, saved you but-” he shrug with his shoulders.
“And now she has become a shadow. She works alone, always clean leaving no hints behind. I don’t know how to find her but maybe I can contact some people who might know what her next mission is.”

MADRIPOOR - Next Morning:
Your alarm clock rang but you had been awake and still lying in bed for hours. That you would wake up before your alarm clock was nothing special, but it was unusual that you were lying there instead of going to work immediately.
Your heart beat irregularly, and a slight nausea came over you every now and then. Seeing Bucky again without him recognizing you hit your psyche more than you wanted to admit to yourself.
Your phone rang, a new hint for the super soldier serum.
You sighed. “Ohhh f*ck this.” you put your pillow on your face.
But a mission was a mission. You took the pillow from your face, sat up straight, and took a deep breath. Even before you knew that Bucky was back, the mission was important to you personally and Bucky wouldn't be able to prevent you from destroying the serum - no matter what.
Your cell phone rang again and one of your informants wrote you where you could find the scientist who had recreated the serum. Buccaneer Bay.
You looked at your gun. “Hopefully I won’t need you for him...” You spoke and put on your weapons.
____________________________________
MADRIPOOR -  Buccaneer Bay
Your body was still tense because of Bucky, but it was also he who learned to suppress your own emotions. When you arrived in Buccaneer Bay, your way led you to the top of the container. A better view and you wouldn't be noticed right away.
“With that bounty on your head, the longer you’re in Madripoor the less likely you’re ever leaving.”
You rolled your eyes as you recognized a female voice. “I should’ve known.”
You leaned a little over the container you were standing on and noticed Sharon, Sam Wilson, Zemo and of course Bucky.
The four of them ran through the individual containers and it seemed as if they were looking for the same thing as you. Slowly and silently you went after them until-
Sharon stopped. “-Container four-two-six-one.”
Bucky looked uncomfortable. He looked around in every direction. It was as if you could literally feel that someone was watching him.
“I’ll watch while you guys talk to Nagel.” Sharon handed them some earpods. “But hurry. We’re on borrowed time.”
“What’re you up to?” You asked yourself as you looked at her.
The container door cracked open, you waited until Sharon was far enough away to get to the next container and on to your destination.
The men went in and you heard them open another door inside. You waited 2 minutes, after all, Zemo and Sam were accompanied by the Winter Soldier, who would double-check everything. When you were sure that they were gone you went into the container.
____________________________________
As you followed them you heard how they drew their weapons. That wasn’t your way, while they first thought of pulling out their weapons, you thought of securing the container and waiting until the men thought they had nothing to worry about and were alone with the doctor.
“Doctor Nagel?” You heard Sam.
The doctor turned and went pale in the face. “Who are you? What do you want?”
“We know you created the super-soldier serum.”
You walked slowly into the room and decided to hide yourself first.
Nagel walked past them, “Get out of my lap.” until he noticed Bucky.
“You know who he is right?”
Nagel didn’t dare to move any further than looked deep into Bucky’s eyes and didn’t grimace. Sam grabbed Nagel by his jacket and pushed him at a wall.
“How about a counter proposal?” The Doctor grinned. “Make me a better offer and I talk.”
Bucky's body language spoke for him. He must have heard something, they weren't alone anymore. He pulled his gone and pointed at Nagel. You got nervous, was this Bucky Barnes or was it the Winter Soldier? Whoever he was, nothing should happen to Nagel.
Nagel began to explain how he managed to reproduce and modify the Super-Soldier serum. In your opinion, he was a bit arrogant.
“I was god.” He smiled and you rolled your eyes.
Zemo started walking around, you couldn't tell what he was going to do so you decided to get closer. He found a gun under a desk and went near Sam and Bucky. You heard the container door open again and you were ready to fight, but Sharon stormed in and for a second you couldn't keep an eye on Zemo, a shot went off - Nagel was dead.
You had to act immediately, you came out from behind Sharon and hit her hard on the head, she fell over like a stone. Sam held Zemo tight, his gun fell to the ground. You ran up to Sam, he was so surprised that it was easy for you to ram your elbow in his face and make him fall to the ground too. You pulled out your two guns, one aimed at Zemo and the other at Bucky.
“Y/N?” Bucky sounded confused.
“Its been a long time since I heard that Name,” She sighed. “Did you miss me, Soldier?” You gasped.
“Do you want the serum for yourself, my dear?” Zemo asked hands up.
Bucky shook his head, “She already has it.” He came closer to you.
“Ah-Ah-Ah, don’t make another move.” You were still aiming at Bucky. “I need the serums, I’ll destroy them so that no one can ever use it again, can use us like they please.”
Bucky's gaze softened. The whole time he was wondering what had become of you, but even if H.Y.D.R.A. or the KGB wanted to make you monsters, you were one of the monsters who worked for, instead of against, people.
He came closer and even without touching you he could feel how much your heart was beating. But what he didn't know, would you shoot him to get to your goal?
He put his hand on yours with he gun, “Y/N...”
____________________________________
Before you could react to Bucky or even think about your next step, you were hit by a bomb that destroyed half the container and knocked you and the others to the ground.
“Y/N,” Bucky groans.
You heard heard the alarm blaring and glasses clicking, everything was shaking but you seemed unharmed as you could stand up on your own. But your eyes couldn't see that much, everything looked blurry. You could barely stand on your feet.
“Did anyone see Zemo?”
Bucky helped the others up. You shook your head and slowly came to yourself. Bucky came and took your hand when another explosion destroyed the container, you all were lucky and made it out just in time.
“All right! Wait for my signal!” Bucky ordered.
You heard gunfire and placed yourself in front of him to take a shouter out.
“Too slow old man.” You came out from behind the container and started shooting the other shooters. Sharon and Sam followed your example and helped.
“Damn it, Y/N!”
You could hear how one after the other fell to the ground but it seemed to get more and more.
“Hey?!” You looked at Bucky. “Do you remember Budapest?” You yelled.
Bucky did remember Budapest and shook his head. “Its too dangerous!”
Another explosion happened and smoke came up, it was perfect to cover you. You got out of your protection and Bucky ran behind you. You were standing back to back and started shooting around you and taking one by one until there was no one left.
Sam and Sharon were speechless after what they just witnessed. A super soldier and a spy who killed 20 people at once without even blinking. But it wasn't over yet, Madripoor was not known for criminals who would give up so easily.
“Okay come on!” Sharon spoke and you followed her into another container.
“So you two?” Sam started and Bucky and you gave him a death stare. “Okay, okay.” He grinned.
Bucky rammed open the door on the other side of the container and you could hear car tires screeching.
“Supercharged.” Zemo smiled.
“You’re going back to jail.” Sam replied.
“Do you want to find Karli or not?”
Bucky crossed his arms, “He’s right, we need him.” he opened the car door.
“Fine.” Sam clenched his teeth. “But if you try that shit again.” He placed himself on the backseat.
You looked at Bucky and he realized you weren't going to come with him. He took your hand and pulled you closer to himself.
Everything in Bucky demanded to stroke you, kiss you and just feel you but he couldn't even find a word.
“I’ll find you.” You looked into his eyes and smiled soft. “even in the darkest nights.”
He placed a kiss on your forehead. “Don’t do anything stupid.” Then he went inside the car.
You nodded to Sam to show you trusted him to fight by Bucky's side. Then you turned around and walked past Sharon while you rammed her shoulder hard, once around the corner and you were gone.
Bucky put his head in his hands, wondering if he should have stayed with you or persuaded you to come with him. But it didn't seem to be the time for it yet. Sam touched his shoulder to comfort him. Zemo started the car and Bucky felt your gaze on him, he turned around and this time you allowed him to see you.
He knew you’d see each other again, he still hoped for a better reason but the Serum was still out there - and your mission wasn't over yet.

first date headcanons
attack on titan (modern au)
summary: some first date headcanons with some of the attack on titan characters.
warnings: none, just fluff :)
eren jaeger: movie
a little basic but it’s all eren could come up with
besides, it was between a movie and dinner and dinner felt too formal so y’all decided on a movie
he’d let you pick the movie tho
he might argue with you if it’s something stupid and claim that it’s horribly written (as if he knows a thing) but that’s it
eren would make sure to get the BEST snacks. spicy food? check. candy? check. popcorn? check. fruits? check.
he just wants to impress you (even if he did have to confide in his friends for some advice)
he just really likes you
during the movie, you guys would start shifting closer to each other, both a little too timid to move all the way all at once
but you guys would make commentary throughout the movie, laughing when things seem too cliché or when a character says something funny
half way throughout the movie, you guys aren’t even really paying attention it it
you’re too busy throwing popcorn at each other and trying to catch it in your mouths, feeding each other candy, and giggling at each other
it’s intimate in its own relaxed way, which makes eren realize how perfect you are
you both could make the most out of a pretty average first date situation and make it into a beyond amazing first date
and that was all he needed to ask you on a second date before he dropped you off at your car, walking with you to make sure you got there safely
and ngl you’d be a bit of a fool to say no to eren
armin arlert: aquarium
sweetheart is so nervous
before he came to your apartment to pick you up for your date, he was a little nervous wreck
he was fidgeting with his fingers, playing with the buttons on his shirt--he probably accidentally opened one by accident
but once he saw you, he felt fine
it was as if he physically melted, you just make everything okay
once you guys got to the aquarium, he would NOT shut up
he was probably pointing things out, telling you fun facts, asking you what is your favorite marine life
“oh, you like pufferfish? that’s cool! i like them too. they’re very... puffy.”
he’s like a child in a candy store
but while he’s rambling about how the digestive system of a sea cucumber basically cleans the ocean, he’s wondering how he should make a move
he doesn’t want to scare you off or anything, but he doesn’t want you to be disappointed
but while you guys are looking at one of those large fish tanks, the ones where you walk through a tunnel, you guys just sort of stand there and watch in awe
or rather armin watches in awe while you look at him, a soft smile gracing his pink lips as his eyes dart across the illustriously blue colored glass
and when he feels your pinky latch onto his, he’s a little shocked that you had made the first move
he didn’t not expect it per say, he just thought that he would be the one to make the first move
but his overthinking got in the way
and when he turns to look down at your intertwined pinkies, he caught you sending him a delicate smile that made his heart squeeze until he felt as if every part of him was on fire
but it was him who finally held your hand fully
he just needed you to give him the extra push
mikasa ackerman: book store
it’s a very calming atmosphere, which is something you’d both need for this first date
mikasa is probably pretty anxious for the first date, and wants to make sure you’re okay and enjoying yourself while also making sure she’s okay and enjoying herself
so the calming scent of the book store and the quietness is perfect for her to multitask between mediating the two
you’d both be tasked with picking each other books and then buying them for each other
so initially mikasa was nervous because she wasn’t sure what to get you but then you asked what she liked to read and so that allowed her to ask the same, making the situation less stressful
and all while you two are walking from isle to isle, eyes scanning the various book titles and covers, she sneaks glances at you and how pretty you look
and the fact that you seem very deep in thought, heavily concentrated on getting her the right book, makes her feel less concerned on whether or not you’d rather be with her or not
the answer is obviously a yes but mikasa has a hard time understanding that sometimes
so when you give her the book you bought for her, making sure to lightly touch her fingers while you hand it to her, she already knows that another date is what she wants you both to have or else she’ll probably explode
and based off of how flushed she looks, the possibility of her exploding is not highly unlikely
you guys will sit at this little table in the corner of the store, reading your books
i can picture mikasa annotating certain lines that remind her of you, making mental notes to show you later
overall, the date is pretty lowkey and very sweet
connie springer: dave + busters/bowling
ok there’s not much of an explanation for this one besides the point that if feels right
like connie is pretty energetic and i feel like you can learn a lot about a person based off of the games they’re drawn to
hence the arcade
i think connie really likes those racing games or the zombie shooting games
he also claims he’s really good at ski ball (he’s not, he’s trash)
so a good portion of the date consists of you just laughing at him the whole time cuz in all honestly he’s not the best at games but he enjoys them for the fun of them
he’d definitely cheer you on when you were playing or try to mess you up if it was you two against each other
but either way he’d give you a hug or a pat on the head after every game
even if u beat him
he’d probably try to sneak a kiss when you guys were in one of those shooting games that requires a booth and the curtains drawn (does that make sense?)
it’s not really romantic like at all, especially since it smells like a million different people in there, but it’s very low stress so in all honesty that’s what makes the kiss nice
and after you guys had used up all your tokens, you’d combine your tickets and pick something together
your prizes would mostly consist of candy and him insisting he get you a plastic gem ring so you can always remember your first date together
it was also his little, strange way of asking you for a second date
levi ackerman: art museum
unlike connie, he’s not super energetic
so a museum is right up his alley
levi’s a bit awkward, he doesn’t really know how to talk to you
and especially since you’re lovely, his words jumble together and he gets all flustered
so a nice, quiet museum exhibit is perfect for him
it’s a nice balance between casual and formal, so you both dress nice but aren’t restricted by the need to be super polite and stuff
he’d probably like it when you try to imitate the poses that are shown in the paintings or sculptures
just imagine the soft chuckle he’d be unable to prevent from escaping his lips which then melts into a soft smirk
beautiful, beautiful lad
he probably wouldn’t join you though, he doesn’t want to embarrass himself
he just smiles at you and stares at the art, reading the background info they give on those little plates near them
but he would notice when you stare at him
he could be looking at some art made during the dutch golden age, but as soon as your head slightly tilted in his direction, his cheeks would HEAT up
you almost asked him if he was feeling alright he was so red
but as the date went on, levi really just thought about how much he enjoyed your presence
and he’s not a wicked talkative guy so being able to feel comfortable with someone even if you aren’t talking or doing much is pretty important to him
as the date concludes, levi finally works up the courage to place his hand on your shoulder, asking if there was anything else you wanted to see before the museum closes for the day
his face might be bright red, but the smile you give him makes him feel a little less embarrassed
what can you say, you’ve got charm 💅
hange: the fucking zoo
ok i won’t lie when i got the idea of hange taking you to the zoo for your first date i thought it was so funny and idk why
like they’d be so excited that they’d nearly forget that they’re on a date with you
they’d drag you around from exhibit to exhibit, pointing out the exact breed of tortoise or some really strange fact about the zebras without looking at the little description panel in front of the exhibit
it’s pretty comical
but then randomly, when you guys are sitting down and eating some fries from one of the concession stands, they start going on a rant about animal cruelty and how a lot of zoos don’t treat the animals properly
and you’re just sitting there like “what 🧍‍♀️” cuz they’re mood changed so quickly LMAO
and as soon as their rant started, it finishes and they’re rushing you to the reptile exhibit
they’d probably try to figure out if they could hold one of the snakes
you’d have to drag them out of there before they start harassing one of the workers into letting them hold a snake
they’d also give all of the animals names only to forget them in 2 seconds
“hey, robert, it’s good to see you again!” “hange, i thought you named them dante?” “oh... did i? 😁”
however there’s probably like one animal they absolutely despise and idk why but i feel like it’s parrots
y’all would be walking through this rainforest exhibit, birds flying from tree to tree and the whole time they’re cursing the birds under their breath for no reason at all
just an angry person walking through a rainforest exhibit, cursing out birds
pretty normal if you ask me
however, the date itself is pretty casual and almost feels like you guys are just hanging out
or it would if they didn’t ask you out on another date before dropping you off at home, kissing your cheek as their farewell
pieck finger: café
very simple and quaint
i feel like pieck has a coffee addiction and always puts her in a better mood
so what better place to go on a date then a café?
she’s definitely an iced coffee drinker, and will occasionally go for a hot drink but usually iced coffee is her go-to
and if you get a coffee or tea that she also happens to like, you’re already practically golden in her eyes
since pieck has a very soothing and lowkey nature, i can see the date being much more just like a conversation with someone you’ve known for forever instead of interview-y which is something i’ve found coffee/lunch/dinner dates to be a bit like
but pieck knows how to keep things interesting and she’s a pretty calming person to be around so all is well
i also can’t see her getting super nervous before the date
she seems pretty calm unless in high-stress situations, but even then, she’s pretty level-headed
but since she’s so calm, it makes you wonder if she really cares for the date
and of COURSE she does, she’s so excited about it
it’s just the way pieck is
but as the date continues, she’d probably start to tease you by playing footsies under the table
you gotta keep the date interesting, you know?
you guys would talk about your interests, family, friends, shows you’re watching
literally just anything and everything that’ll allow you guys to get a feel for each other
and if all goes well she’ll definitely suggest another date ;)
also don’t expect to leave without her either writing something cute on your cup, pressing a lip-stick stained kiss to your cheek that matches the one surrounding the rim of her cup, or a promise that your game of footsies will continue next time you see each other

Companions React to Sole Visiting Their Dead Spouse Part 1/2
Ada:
Today Sole had informed Ada that they wanted to visit the vault they had come from. Ada had heard a bit about vaults from Jackson but she had yet to visit one herself. When they began to descend on the elevator that led to the vault, Ada noticed Sole’s mood start to shift. She recognized the emotion in Sole’s face to be sadness, greif. Ada knew of this emotion from what she had experienced with Jackson and her fellow robot’s deaths. She began to suspect that Sole was visiting the death site of someone who she was close to. They continued to walk
through the vault until they arrived at the entrance of a short hall. The hall seemed to house a number of large machines. Ada’s internal thermometer told her that it was quite cold so she assumed the machines were the source of the unusual temperature. Sole’s mood seemed to worsen as they led Ada down the hall. Ada noticed as they walked that frozen human corpses were held in each of the pod-like machines. When they stopped before one of the pods towards the end of the hall it became clear to Ada that Sole had a relationship with the deceased human they had stopped at. Sole looked up at the deceased human and their eyes began to water. Ada remembered back to her own experiences with death and grief. She felt she had to help Sole as Sole had helped her.
“I understand how you feel, Ma’am/Sir. If there is anything I can do to aid you please let me know.” Sole smiled sadly and turned slightly.
“Thank you, Ada. I appreciate you being here for me.” Sole then turned back to face the dead human. They shed a few tears before they approached a control panel that presumably controlled the machine the dead human was in. They pulled a lever and the Ada heard a hiss of the pod depressurising. The door to the pod slowly opened as Sole approached the human. They seemed to be taking a ring off of the hand of the human. They held the cold metal to their lips and whispered something Ada could not hear before slipping the ring in their pocket.
“Alright, we can go now.” They addressed Ada as they moved to close the door of the pod. “Thank you.” They repeated.
“You are welcome, Ma’am/Sir.” Ada responded. Ada and Sole then left the vault together. Ada knew that there was no way she could repay Sole for how they helped her, but she would still continue to try.
Cait:
“Why do we have ta go to this stupid ice box again?” Cait complained, rubbing her bare arms.
“It’s not my fault you refused to wear a coat.” Sole joked but Cait noticed their voice had a twinge of sadness in it. Cait had been confused when Sole asked her to come to Vault 111 with them. They’d been traveling together for ages and Sole didn’t really ask Cait if she wanted to go places, they just went. The location of today was weird as well. Usually they had a purpose for the places they went. Some lazy settlers couldn’t get off their arse’s to fight off a few ghouls or they were gettin’ a handful a’ caps to go fight a bunch a’ muties. Today’s trip to Vault 111 was weird and out of the blue. Cait didn’t like it but it seemed important to Sole so she agreed. Together they walked further into the vault and the further they walked the colder it got. They eventually reached a wide hall full of weird human sized containers. Cait noticed the ice that slicked the floor and the frost that stuck to the windows of the weird containers as they passed the first one she peered in the window. The dead body of a frozen woman in a vault suit was inside. She had seen a fair amount of bad shit in her day and this whole vault definitely made the cut. Sole had stopped in front of an ice coffin close to the end of the hall when Cait realized. Sole had told her about their dead spouse a while back and they’d also mentioned how they’re from a vault. This was that vault. That body they were now cryin’ in front of was their spouse. Seeing Sole like that did not feel good. Not good at all. She needed to reassure them, she hated it when they were upset.
“I know this must be difficult for you.” She stepped forwards, “I… I’m here if you need to talk.” Sole turned to her and smiled. They reached out their hand to take Cait’s.
“Thank you, Cait. You’re a great friend.” They squeezed Cait’s hand. Cait squeezed back and watched Sole as hot tears continued to roll down their cheeks. She hoped that one day they could be more than friends. Maybe then Cait could wipe those tears away an’ kiss away the burns of grief they had left behind. For now, though, this is all she needed.
Codsworth:
It had been a hard week for Sole and Codsworth. The initial reunion of the two had been nothing but joyful. The family had been reunited against all odds! But of course it wasn’t the whole family. The absence of Sole’s better half and young Shaun left a gaping hole in both Sole’s real and Codsworth’s metaphorical hearts. The shock of their partner’s murder and Shaun’s kidnapping had worn off for Sole and in it’s wake, it left them cripplingly depressed. The past three days Sole had barely been able to get out of bed. They just listened to their partner’s holotape on repeat while cradling young Shaun’s favorite rattle in their arms’. Codsworth had been doing his best to care for them, bringing them food and water and making sure to check up on them every hour or so, but he was becoming worried. He was just preparing lunch for Sole when he was surprised by their figure standing at the entrance to the kitchen. Codsworth greeted them excitedly. Sole awkwardly hugged his large metal body and thanked him for all the meals he had prepared and all the patience he had shown. They explained how when they had left the vault, they were in such shock that they never got to say a real goodbye to their partner. Codsworth listened patiently and happily agreed when they asked him to accompany them back to the vault to say a real goodbye.
They entered the cold concrete bunker which Codsworth had previously waited and hoped to see stir for over 210 years. Sole led him through the halls and the two eventually arrived at some machinery which Sole identified as the cryogenic freezing pods. They approached the end of the hall and Sole moved to one of the many control panels next two one of the many pods. After puzzling over the panel they tried pulling a red lever. The large door of the cryo pod hissed as it slowly opened to reveal their spouse. Standing next to Codsworth in front of their partner, they grabbed and held the grasper fixed on one of his three arms. Even with one his beloved family members standing dead right before him, Codsworth still couldn’t believe it.
“Oh dear, is that…” he trailed off, “Mum/Sir, I’m… I’m so sorry.” Codsworth tried to keep his heartbroken voice steady as Sole began to softly sob next to him. He wished more than anything he could hug them, but since he could not, this almost hand holding would have to do. They stood there, mourning together for about two hours before Sole was ready to go. They were still very torn up. But it seemed as if a large weight had been lifted from their chest. Before they closed their partner’s pod, Sole went up to them and removed their wedding ring.
“I’ll find who did this, and I’ll get Shaun back. I promise” they said to their spouse.
“Indeed Mum/Sir. We’ll stop at nothing to get young Shaun back!” Sole smiled at Codsworth and together the two set off to find Sole’s baby.
Curie:
After everything Sole had done to help Curie, there wasn’t even a second thought on whether or not she would go with them to the vault they had come from. She would help Sole with anything, no matter what. When she had first booted up in vault 81 she was very excited to dedicate herself to the scientific endeavors of Vault-Tec. When her fellow scientist informed her of how they would be growing hundreds of pathogens in mole rats and testing these pathogens on unsuspecting humans, she felt bad. As bad as a Ms.Nanny model robot could at least. She eventually grew attached to the mole rats they were infecting. She was especially fond of sweet little Clyde. When one day Clyde escaped his cage, Curie did not have time to warn the scientists she had worked with. Despite her friend’s deaths, Curie took solace in the fact that the morally gray work of Vault-Tec’s could not continue. Despite the conductors of the experiment's deaths, Curie continued her work. 200 years later, she had been finished with the cure for a long while. She was pretty much stuck in this small area of the vault waiting to be told she could leave. Thankfully, Sole came along and her prayers were answered! They released her and told her about a young boy who was infected. She was able to help the one human who had the misfortune of being infected by the molerat disease with her life’s work, the cure. After that, Sole had welcomed Curie to continue her scientific studies alongside them. When Sole eventually helped Curie become alive, however, was when Curie truly understood how much she loved Sole. She would go to the ends of the earth for them so accompanying them to a vault was, as Sole might say, no big deal.
On the walk to the vault Sole told an inquisitive Curie about the experiment 111 had performed. They also told Curie how losing their spouse and child happened while they were still trapped in their cryogenic pod. They told Curie that they were visiting the body of their deceased spouse. It wasn’t too long of a walk before they reached the familiar facility. Sole led Curie through the cool halls of the vault and down a short hall to their spouse’s body. They took a deep breath and stepped up to the control panel adjacent to the cryo pod. After fiddling with the controls the pod appeared to depressurize and open. Curie’s heart ached for Sole. She knew how loss felt and of all the human emotions she was now able to feel, she liked that one the least.
Sole began to cry at seeing their deceased partner again. Curie had an urge to cry too. It was such an awful feeling. As much as she wanted to though, she knew she couldn’t give in to it. She had to stay strong for her dearest friend who must be struggling a lot more than she is right now. She stepped closer to her partner and gently laid a hand on their upper back.
“I wish I knew how to make zis better. It iz not a phyzical injury that I can heal.” Curie was silent for a moment, thinking of what to say next, “However I know it still hurts terribly. I am here for you always.” Sole slumped and began to cry harder which made Curie very worried. Maybe she had said the wrong thing! Did she make it worse? But right when she was going to apologize and excuse herself Sole turned around and hugged her tightly. She hugged back and allowed Sole to cry on her shoulder.
“Thank you Curie, you’re the best.” They sniffled out. Curie smiled as a few stray tears fell down her face. She was so glad she was able to help her friend as they have helped her so many times before.
Danse:
Danse hadn’t known what to expect when his fellow soldier had requested they make a stop at Vault 111 during their recon mission to the far reaches of the commonwealth. He of course knew that Sole was from this vault. They had told him so upon their first meeting. He remembered being surprised that Sole had admitted to being a Vault Dweller, though he now understood they probably had no idea of the stigma surrounding Vault Dwellers as they had only been above ground for a short time. Nonetheless, when he granted permission for his subordinate to lead him to the vault he assumed they wanted to go back for something they had not taken when they had first left. He never suspected to walk into a graveyard of frozen corpses. Of course he knew the basics of what had occurred here. Sole had told him a bit about their spouse and the cruel experiment unknowingly performed on them both. Even knowing this, experiencing the criminal loss of life Vault-Tec had caused first hand was rather sickening. He could only imagine what Sole was going through.
Danse soon found that he did not have to imagine. Sole had led him down an isle of frozen bodies before stopping in front one. He noticed their hands were shaking as they reached for the control panel standing next to the pod they had stopped at. They pulled a red lever and the contraption hissed as the door began to open. Danse could see a frozen body held within the metal pod. Sole’s whole body was shaking now. From his place off to the side of them he could see tears rolling down their cheeks. This must be their spouse. Danse was at a loss. He wanted to help them but he knew there was no way he could do anything that would get them over such an incredible loss. Even so, he needed to do something. His power armor hissed as it depressurized. He stepped out of it and approached Sole.
“Take as long as you need, Soldier.”  He placed a hand on their shoulder briefly before turning away to give them space. As he began to leave, Sole grabbed his hand. He turned to them, surprised. He only got to see the tears streaming down Sole’s red, blotchy cheeks for a moment before they roughly pulled him towards them for a hug. Shocked, he stiffened. It was only when they started to softly sob into his chest that he refocused and hugged them back. They stayed that way for a long time. Danse couldn’t help but think back to Scribe Haylen. The situation was nearly the same and yet he didn’t have the same ache in his chest when he had held the scribe. Eventually Sole’s sobs turned to sniffles and sniffles to silence. Their hold on him loosed and Danse took this as his queue to release them. Their face was still puffy and red but as he looked down at them while they smiled up at him he couldn’t help but think how beautiful they looked.
“Thank you.” They breathed. Danse simply nodded. Sole turned away from him to right themselves and he used this opportunity to get back into his power armor. Sole closed up the cryogenics pod and they left the vault without another word shared. Danse hoped he had helped them. Even if it was only in a small way.
Deacon:
When Sole asked Deacon to accompany them on a visit to Vault 111, he of course accepted. This is not to say that he was excited. Far from it. He would never admit it to them, but he had done a lot of research on Vault 111 far before he had met Sole. He had taken a particular interest in this vault after hearing a rumor of Institute activity near it. After trying and failing to get into it, he went to Vault-Tec headquarters in hopes of finding some more info on this particular experiment. He had been able to guess the vault had some type of human-cryogenic-preservation thing going on due to terminals he’d read there and books he’d read elsewhere. After Sole had left the vault, the interior door was open and Deacon was able to explore further. One cryo pod being open while the rest were full of corpses painted a pretty clear picture. The internal terminals allowed Deacon to discover that there was once an infant “housed” there. The infant belonged to the vaultie he saw leave and the only corpse who’s cause of death was a bullet to the head. It was pretty clear to him what had happened. What he didn’t know was what the Institute needed with an infant.
Due to his research, Deacon obviously knew exactly what happened in that Vault. He also knew how much it had taken from Sole specifically and he had a pretty good idea of why they wanted to go back. His suspicions were confirmed when they led him down a familiar hall of cryo pods. They stopped close to the end of the short hallway to stand in front of the dead person Deacon had first seen almost a year ago. He looked to Sole, they were staring at the body and shivering. He couldn’t tell if it was from the cold or the murder. He settled on both. He tried not to remember just how much he understood their pain, but of course he couldn’t forget. His chest tightened as he saw tears beginning to leak from their eyes. They shakily reached for the control panel next to the coffin and pulled the red lever to open it. Their face began to contort into an expression Deacon knew very well. Their tears were flowing freely now and he felt he had to do something, anything to try to help them. He approached them and placed a hand on their shoulder, effectively wrapping his arm around them. They stood there for about a minute, Sole sniffling from time to time, before Sole turned into him and wrapped their arms around him. Deacon didn’t think about how it could be dangerous when he hugged them back, he just did. He held Sole in that cold, empty room for a long time. Even after Sole had stopped crying, they stood there.
“Thanks Dee.” Sole whispered before finally letting go of Deacon. They looked up at him, smiling and though he didn’t know why he felt his stomach flip, he provided a small smile back. Sole closed the pod and together the pair left Vault 111, hopefully, for the last time.
Dogmeat:
When Dogmeat woke up that morning it was just another day with his wonderful friend. Throughout the day however, Dogmeat began to worry. He felt his friend start to become sad. This made him sad too. He loved his friend! He wanted his friend to be happy! He stuck close to their side especially when they entered a very cold big place which seemed to make his friend even more sad. He and his friend walked further into the cold place until they decided to stop. His friend sat down on the cold floor so Dogmeat did too. He saw that his friend had begun to cry. He whimpered and rested his head in his friend’s lap. For a while they sat, Dogmeat’s friend slowly stroking Dogmeat’s fur and eventually, they stopped crying. Dogmeat sat up and blinked at his friend. His friend gave him a sad smile, he gave them a big slobbery kiss. His friend laughed and so he gave them another kiss. His friend kissed his forehead before standing. Together, they walked out of the cold place. Dogmeat was happy, and he felt his friend was too.
Gage: Gage was never into the touchy feely stuff but he had to admit he had a soft spot for the Overboss. They’re badass as hell and take no shit but they also knew how to be compassionate when they needed to be. It was something Gage had never been able to do well and something he respected in his boss. There was something off about them the day they asked Gage to accompany them to Vault 111 in the Commonwealth. They seemed more timid, like they were worried about his response. He’d already told them he’d follow them to the ends of the earth and he meant it so of course he said yes. The trip was long and the boss seemed to get quieter and more down the closer they got to the vault. This was worrying to Gage. Like he said, he wasn’t good at the touchy feely stuff. He wasn’t gonna know how to deal with it if the Boss needed someone to comfort them from whatever was making them sad.
They finally reached the vault and Sole instructed him to stand on the gear shaped platform while they ran over to a small building nearby. After about 30 seconds lights around the platform started to flash. There was the sound of a blaring alarm paired with a rumbling of the ground beneath him. He was about to get the hell off of the thing but Sole ran over to wait on the platform next to him. If it was safe in Sole’s eyes, Gage supposed he would trust it. After a few seconds the platform started to lower with a loud screech of metal on metal. Despite the bad feeling that was growing exponentially inside of him he followed the Overboss’ example. When the vault elevator brought them down to solid ground again, Sole led the way through a cold metal complex to a bunch of weird machinery that really just looked like a bunch of fancy coffins. Looking through the small glass windows on the weird pods proved that that’s exactly what they were. Sole’s footsteps were heavy and slow as they led Gage down the icey corridor. There was something very personal about this place to them. He would soon find out what it was as they stopped in front of on of the coffins. Sole fidgeted with their hands for a moment before they reached to the control panel next to the pod and opened it. There was a hiss of depressurization when the door opened to reveal a body. Someone they’d obviously known and been close to. The Boss’ posture slumped and they started… crying. They were crying… Dammit, Gage had no idea how to deal with this. He had to do something to let them know he cared though, because he did. He stepped closer to Sole reaching his hand out to them before recoiling it. Oh god. Alright just say something, anything.
“Hey, uh, Boss, I just want you to know- well I get it. And I’m real sorry.” They huffed a laugh through tears. Fuck did he do it wrong?? But before he could worry too much they turned to him with a sad smile.
“Thank you Gage, really, thank you.” He nodded stiffly, not knowing how else to react. They stood there in silence for a while before Sole closed the pod and stepped back, wiping their tears away. Gage looked away put of respect until they cleared their throat. “Ready to get out of this shithole?” They smiled at him.
“Hell yeah, you lead the way, Boss.” -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I saw a video of the Companion’s comments upon bringing them back to Vault 111 and opening your spouses pod and I wanted to write a little thing. :) The bold sentences are real in game dialogue but not every character has some. This is part 1 of 2 so if your favorite isn’t in this one don’t worry.
