My Honest Thoughts about Deuce Spade and why I really like him so much as a character.

W/N : Before you read my random rant about him, please understand that my English is kinda broken and there's some grammatical errors because English is not my first language, thank you in advance! :3

WARNING SPOILERS FOR TWISTED WONDERLAND MANGA!!!

Okay so, where do I start explaining about this guy? I have so many reasons why Deuce is a great character, one main reason is because of his backstory in [Chapter II : Badboy in Sepia!] where he explained that he's a "Hopeless delinquent" back in his middle school days before he enrolled in Night Raven College.

I admire that he confessed to the MC that he makes so many mistakes and often breaks the rules but after he hears that his mother is making a call with his grandmother, her mother cries as she says "Where did I go wrong with him? Maybe a single parent can't raise a child". Okay imagine you're in Deuce's position at the moment, this is honestly so heartbreaking to the point that he blames himself and realising that his actions are wrong all this time.

And then after that incident Deuce became self aware about himself and he actually changed himself for his mother, like what a great guy he is, he even studied hard so he can enroll in NRC- and so he did, it makes his mother happy also.

He swore that he will make his mother never cry because of him ever again, like the effort! Man all I see is green flag over the place.

Even though there's a moment in the game where he snapped and almost had a huge fight with his fellow classmates lol, I can see that he still has that habit when he was still a delinquent, I mean dude he can fight but he's trying to be reasonable even when his temper going out of control (also, the duality of this man).

The second is his attitude towards his friends, there's a lot of proof that he's that friend who will always be there for you even though you did something stupid (like look at him with Ace and those shenanigans they pull), he seems really cared about MC in the game and always look up for them, also when he's not afraid to tell that he has high hopes and dreams to become a model student. And yes, of course he would kick someone's asses if they're trying to hurt his fellow friends.

I think that's my opinion about him, he has his own flaws just like everyone else's but his backstory somehow makes me feel emotional that he's even more considerate and care for his mother, also he always gives 110% effort to become a model student lol.

So like feel free to completely ignore this rant BUT

Why is basically every single reader insert f****** female reader??? It doesn't matter how benign or wholesome or even how nsfw it is. they don't even bother to try and make it gender-neutral. Like for say the obey me fandom the MC is literally not stated to have a gender the Creator said it could be whatever you wanted male, female, non-binary, all were considered right so why is there only female you have to school for like 20 solid minutes to find one for gender-neutral much less male readers. And then a new fandom I'm in, which is twisted Wonderland, why is it all females?!?!

It's an all boys college, there is canonically no females on the premises. So why does everyone only write female readers?? Have you never been to an all boys anything they don't let females on the premises unless they're visitors. Not only that in both the novel and the manga the reader insert character named Yuu or Yuukan are literally black haired males.... All boys colleges or middle schools or high schools or dormitories or anything like that do not allow females on the premises. I get it's fiction but for something that is literally canonically stated to be an all boys college the dominant gender of reader inserts should not be females. At the very least make it gender neutral.

There's like no fandom where you can read reader insert story where you actually get a male reader or a gender-neutral reader you have to scrounge around for it.

Make female reader inserts all you want! For fandoms that are very much open for male readers to make an equal amount for the guys and the non-binaries you were literally removing an entire demographic that it's specifically kind of geared towards via the Canon of the f****** thing. Like I get it game about pretty boys but canonical gender of insert character or MC or Yuu whatever you want to call it is male.

The fact I scrolled for a solid hour and a half and saw five gender neutral and one male reader fic and they were all by the same author is ridiculous. The worst part is I'm probably going to get flooded with people going and being assholes about it. Because it's not that deep or it's not that big of a deal when I go to read fiction for comfort and instead gets severe dysphoria. I figured this would be the one fandom where there would be more gender-neutral fanfic because it literally States at the beginning the night Raven college that you attend in twisted Wonderland is an all boys college. Meaning had a female character walked out the coffin they would have been immediately sent back! There wouldn't have been that whole scene that happened! There wouldn't be a story. She would have been immediately attempted to be sent home. Write whatever you want to write but know that this is b*******.

This isn't a problem I have specifically with the obey me fandom or the twisted Wonderland fandom. Every community I'm in that I go to read fiction for fools this s*** as if there's not non-binary or trans masc or even CIS males who enjoy this kind of stuff. Really literally left out of everything when it comes to fandom because obviously boys don't read fanfiction I guess.

I fell in love with Ravio.

I wrote one fic about this boy and now I’m hooked.

And when I was cleaning up last night, I had an idea. Another fic idea. I don’t know how well it will go over, but my “crack” in the past has usually been well accepted.

Ravio gets sucked int a portal. He doesn’t know where he is, but it looks like a giant room, and there’s a banner on the wall, a bottle or so of wine on a table, seats, cups and various other things.

He’s about to read the sign when another person tumbles out of the same portal as him.

Malon looks up and around, and for half of a minute thinks that Legend dyed his hair, only for Ravio to introduce him, at which point she’s like ‘oh! I’ve heard of you!’. The two chatter a bit, but then several more people tumble out of the portal.

Groose, Fi, Ezlo, Shadow, Navi (maybe?), Tatl, Midna, Ciela, Linebeck, the ghost of King Daphnes, Proxi, Pyoko (mangas), Sir Raven, a moblin and Mipha’s ghost (all the champions?) all just tumble/float out, and Malon and Ravio have to help them untangle themselves.

For half of a second, there’s greetings and ‘I’ve heard of you’s’ between them all.

And then someone notices Raven.

Someone (probably Midna) grumbles “Oh great, were all the babysitters of courage summoned to babysit a Link together? See how well we can handle him?”

Raven has to explain that, no, his real name is Raven, no, He’s not a Hero of Courage, yes, he’s helped kill Ganon, and yes, he’s got a mini hero child running around that he helped take care of (he also sees Ravio and thinks ‘Link?’, because canonically Link from the Oracle games had dark hair, but Ravio explains.

Long story short, Hylia has recognized that the babysitters of courage (aptly named) deserve people to rant to, and who better than another babysitter? Every week, a portal appears in Ravio’s living room, Ezlo’s little hut, Groose’s house ect., and they all pile in and appear at Lon Lon Ranch (Malon begged Hylia to let her host meetings, since it was more comfy at the ranch than in the place the goddess prepared).

It great, they love chatting about their boys, or life in general. Malon and Ravio both write to their heroes about having weekly meetings with friends, and Time and Legend are incredibly relieved.

But then one day they are at Lon Lon Ranch, and the they’ve only been there for a day when a portal appears.

Malon has to explain taht it’s her friends, and what do you know, a whole host of mentors/caretakers/friends/guides comes tumbling out with a collective shout of “Hi Mamalon!”, only to be shocked that Malon also has their heroes over.

Chaos ensues.

....Oh boy, I didn’t mean to write it all out, but yeah. Wow, that one’s a bit long, yeah? Do with that what you will. I’m gonna try and write it when I get back from my work later today (childcare, whoo hoo).

Expect insanity, and feel free to do this too if it so suits you.

Is it okay if I request head cannons of the Brothers reacting to an Mc that’s like Nezuko from demon slayer? They’re an adorable bean that doesn’t talk much (they make grunting, humming, and soft sounds) but they do wholesome things for the brothers like help them with errands, listen to them rant, and just be a comforting presence for them. Don’t get me started on how nice their hugs, headpats, and cuddles feel! Idk if you want MC to be a demon but if they are, they were a muzzle to keep their fangs in check (they take it off when they eat), they can shrink to a Chibi size when they hide or run away, can regenerate should they lose a limb, and they understand curses and demonic language.

How the Demon Brothers would react to an MC like Nezuko

Heck yeah Anon! Sorry for the delay, it��s been a while since I watched Demon Slayer myself so I wanted to rewatch some episodes to refresh haha. The scene I painted for myself was that you came to Devildom as a human but got turned into a demon by some sort of accident. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy!

Belphegor

Finally, someone that sleeps just as much, if not more than him! He loves it!

MC’s presence is very comforting to him and he comes to expect MC anytime that he feels sleepy (so all the time lol)

Tired cuddles are his favorite, you’re both not quite awake but not totally asleep and when you pet his head, he swoons.

He would be surprised when you understand that he was drawing a curse trap for Lucifer and shake your head no to try to talk him out of it.

Belphie would actually be relieved you’re a demon now because it would make you less fragile and be able to recover from any physical injuries.

Beelzebub

The two of you together in the kitchen means destruction, there are no if’s, and’s or but’s. You’re both ravenous.

He was pleasantly surprised when you first changed size to match him. He’s nervous when you change to your chibi size, you were already small and now you’re smaller?!

There would be no need for you to get smaller for him as he has no problem carrying your average size.

Delighted when he took you to a small restaurant and the entire menu is in demonic language but you had no problem reading it and picking out what you wanted. That means he can take you to other places too!

Like his twin, also relieved you’re a demon to make you stronger and less likely to be hurt accidentally by him or his brothers.

Asmodeus

Absolutely adores when MC changes size, it’s so cute how small you are.

Although MC doesn’t have a lot to say, they listen to everything that Asmo has to say and he lives for the attention.

He loves hugs! He is not afraid to ask for a hug when he needs one. As the Avatar of Lust, he doesn’t often get head pats but is amazed how much he enjoys getting them from MC.

He’s blown away when you picked out exactly the perfume he wanted from his collection. He asked, “can you read this?” and pointed to the symbols. When you nodded, he squealed with a giggle and hugged you.

Asmo doesn’t mind you being a human or demon but being a demon means that you can stay with them longer.

Satan

He finds having MC around very calming to his rage.

No matter the size, MC’s weight against his body as he reads is grounding and their humming is his favorite sound.

Satan loves your hugs away from prying eyes and holding you hand as he guides you through the marketplace to his favorite cafe or book store.

He was impressed when you picked up a book and seemed to understand what it said, even though it was in a demonic language.

Like Asmo, he doesn’t mind if you are human or demon because you are you. But he is drawn to finding how to turn you back since it is unprecedented and learning how to do it is something he’s never learned before.

Leviathan

Insanely flustered the first time you shrink to fit in his lap as he was gaming. Although you had figured the smaller size would be less distracting, it was in fact very distracting because of how cute you are.

You’ve always been a good listener, really the only one willing to hear out his rants about the latest anime release. Your nods and grunts of encouragement spur him on.

Any physical affection gets him flustered and blushy. Head pats, hugs, and hand holding just mess him up with it. He loves it but won’t admit or ask for it.

Stunned when you pointed to the symbol that matched the game Levi was describing. He picked up the manga with the symbol and nodded enthusiastically, “Exactly MC! This is the manga it was based on!”

Torn between keeping you as a demon here in Devildom or changing you back to the human you were. Ultimately he would want it to be your choice but he hopes beyond hope that you’ll stay by his side.

Mammon

As your first man, he is still very protective over you. He knows what it’s like being a new demon so he helps in any way he can.

He gets a little spooked the first time you change into a smaller size since he can’t do that but picks MC up without a second thought. I feel like he played a big part in helping raise the little bros so holding a smaller being is second nature to him by now.

He’s such a tsundere but we all know he loves hugs and headpats. He will always reach out to hold hands in public so everyone knows you’re his.

You confused Mammon when you stopped him abruptly. He followed your pointed finger to see a curse mark on the floor. By the looks of it, it was Satan’s work, most likely meant for Lucifer. He took your hand and walked around, “thanks,” he squeezed your hand and kept walking ahead.

While he would love to have you around, he would understand wanting to turn back. The accident didn’t leave you with much of a choice in the matter of turning into a demon. He would be supportive of whatever you chose.

Lucifer

Somewhat misses verbal confirmation of yes’s and no’s but adjusts pretty quickly to visuals of shaking or nodding your head.

Intrigued when you first changed size in front of him. That wasn’t something he or his brothers could do so maybe that was something unique to the human-to-demon transformation.

Lucifer isn’t really into pda but appreciates your touches in the privacy of his office or room. His favorite are your soft hugs, it makes the stress of the day melt away. He will wrap a protective arm around you in public to make it clear to those around you that you are not to be messed with.

His eyebrows shoot up when you start humming along with one of his cursed vinyl records, as if you knew what was being said. Then he realizes you do know what they’re saying.

He is the most dedicated to turning you back. He has made himself personally responsible for returning you to the state you arrived. Absolutely will not stop searching for a way.

" Please marry me!" Epel said, " Darx I challenge you for the bride's hand,"

" Don't look at someone else. Please marry me!" Ace shouted, " Darx I will defeat you,"

"Please... choose me as your marriage partner," Riddle offered, " Darx I shall put a stop too you,"

" Your beauty, I want to be your servant of love forever," Rook smiled, " And I shall rescue you from this brute,"

Far out at sea loomed a dark storm cloud that slowly made its way towards the island of Night Raven College. A figure sat on the back of a mighty griffin in the eye of the storm, it groaned, cried as it tried to thrash against reigns. The man growled as he sharply pulled on the reins.

"Quiet pet, I hear that there is a beautiful maiden at Night Raven College. And from what I've seen on the magical, she is quite the sight," The figure sighed, " Though I wished she had more of a presence, instead of uploaded photo's from this Cater guy."

"Master, can I come with you this time?" Inir asked excitedly, " I promise to be careful this time?"

"I have a feeling you to come for other reasons," Y/n sighed.

"N-no," Inir stuttered.

"You want another playdate with Ortho don't you?" Y/n smirked at her newer creation.

"No- yeah, but he's so fun to hang out with and I promise I'll be careful and try not to break myself like last time," Inir begged.

"Inir you broke yesterday from the game of tag, and I spent all night gluing you back together, and I had to reapply the marks that keep you together," Y/n yawned as she took a sip of coffee.

"PLEASE!?" Inir begged.

"Morning Ace-san, "Inir greeted.

"Oh Inir, I see y/n put you back together, " Ace smiled.

"yep cause she's the best, " Inir smiled.

"Morning," Yawned a tired Y/n.

"Wow you look awful today, did you get any sleep?" Ace asked.

"No, and I didn't feel like arguing with Inir today. Have you seen Idia or Ortho? " Y/n sighed.

"Yeah, I think-"

"Inir!" Shouted a young voice, and a flash of white and blue.

"There he is?" Y/n yawned.

"Hi, Ortho, " Inir Smiled as she hugged to robot boy, " is Idia outside today?"

"No, just me, but I saw that you were in school so I came over to play some more," Ortho said with a cheery smile, " If that's okay with Y/n, "

"Just please be gentle, I don't think I can handle another all-nighter to fix Inir," Y/n said tiredly.

"Okay," they both said as they ran off.

(Location- courtyard)

"Are you sure you're going to make it through the day?" Duece asked with a worried tone as he helped Y/n walk straight.

"I can't fall behind-behind on.. on the," Y/n nodded off.

"Prefect Y/n, what in the world happened to you," Said a very smooth voice.

"Oh no," Y/n groaned as she looked up to see Vil staring down at her.

"Y/n have you slept at all, you have bags under your eyes, and your skin looks all dried up," Vil said as he poked and prodded at her face.

"I had to put Inir back together, so no sleep," Y/n said simply.

"Oh no, you shouldn't push yourself. You'll ruin your health," Rook gasped at the sight of Y/n's tired face.

"Epel please Take Y/n back to her dorm to get proper rest," Vil said simply.

Epel nodded and Helped Y/n back to the ramshackle dorm to rest. The moment Y/n rested her head she was out like a light.

The night quickly came and Y/n found it hard to sleep knowing that her sleep was very thrown off, so she decided to take a night stroll around the school. As she made her way to the main route of the great 7. As she walked past the statues she noticed a familiar shut-in heading her way.

"Oh, good evening Mr. Idia," Y/n smiled as she curtsied slightly.

"Ahh! O-oh it's you Y/n. good evening, but what are you doing up so late?" Idia stuttered.

"My sleep is completely out of wack, so I'm just walking around. What are you up too, must be something important," Y/n wondered aloud.

"I've ordered my favorite manga's newest print... along with the spacial mini colored papers, but why is it not delivered by the release date!?" Iida ranted.

"M-Manga? Is this related to the anime thing you talk about?" Y/n asked.

"Manga is the book version of anime," Idia explained.

"Oh, well sorry to hear that, it must be a good piece of literature," Y/n frowned for Idia.

"It's a shame as an otaku to not get it on the first date. There's nobody around too, I'm going to the shop," Idia sighed.

But suddenly lightning flashed in the sky and a strong wind blew past Y/n and Idia.

"...ound you...," said a distant voice.

"Eh?" Idia and Y/n gasped.

"Just now... someone's voice?" Idia wondered.

" I finally... found you... My Bride!" Said a tall man with a black blindfold over his eyes.

"GYAA———!!!!!" Idia screamed while Y/n gasped in shock.

"Grim, GRIM!" The fairy trio shouted.

Grimm gasped awake and quickly glared at the three.

"What?!" Grimm groaned.

"Y/n's missing! and the ghost has invaded!" Zephyr shouted as three ghosts appeared.

"Whoa!?" Grimm screamed.

" You dirty rats! What are you doing here!" One of the ghosts shouted, " This mansion is the Masters' reception hall. It's off-limits for outsiders!"

"Master?! Reception hall??. I don't get it, but it's my dorm. The outsiders are you guys!" Grimm growled.

"If you won't go out, you'll be in trouble," The ghosts glared, " Go out now or you'll be hurt!"

The Ghosts quickly tossed Grimm and the other creatures out of the dorm. Grimm growled as he ran over to the headmaster's office to report the incident.

"Your dorm got possessed by ghosts with white hats?" Crowley asked.

"That's right! They appeared and suddenly said that the dorm was theirs! They said something about a master too!" Grimm growled.

" Master... ah, I get it! There was nobody in that dorm last year so I let it be, but... It seems like he has come this year again," Crowley sighed.

"Again?" Vinca asked.

" The ones who chased you out was Darx's vassal" Crowley groaned.

"Darx? Who's that? I don't know if I'm supposed to be congratulating or scared," Grimm wondered.

" It seems like she was a princess of a country that was destroyed long ago. Darx is currently the world's most powerful wizard and a very narcissistic one too. He travels the world in search of a perfect partner to bear his children, wanting powerful children. He had many weddings, yet his brides always go missing after a month. Sometimes he rests at Ramshackle Dorm as appointed to be their basecamp. It's an honor for that place to be recognized by a powerful wizard," Crowley explained.

" It's not the time to brag! Chase those annoying ghosts away quickly!" Grimm growled.

" It's too annoying to chase them... ahem! Don't you think it's pitiful? Let's just leave them alone, plus I don't want to get on Darx's bad side for no good reason. besides no bride will be found here," Crowley laughed, " It only affects Ramshackle Dorm. And they'll go away after a few days. Stop those useless protests and just freeload on your friend's place for 2-3 days, wait where's Y/n?"

" Headmaster—!!!!!!!" Ortho and Inir cried.

"Oh, Ignihyde's Ortho Shroud-Kun and Inir of Ramshackle. What are you two in a hurry for?" Crowley

"It's a problem... my brother and Prefect Y/n were taken by a strange man!" Ortho cried.

"What?!" everyone gasped.

"Right Check out this security video," Ortho said as he projected a video.

"Hey! Please don't hack the school's security system!" Crowley scolded.

"shh, be quiet and watch the video!" Inir shushed.

"So that man is," Grimm gulped.

"Yep, that man is Darx, and he found a bride!" Crowley gasped.

"And the Bride is Y/n!" Ora gasped in horror.

"Well she indeed a beautiful maiden and a powerful witch on top of that, fitting his criteria," Crowley mumbled.

"Yep, she is also kind and caring. Dame you Darx, what precise eyes you have!" Inir growled.

"Anyway, it seems like we have trouble, If she's chosen to be Darx bride, then that means," Crowley gasped.

Suddenly they were interrupted by all the commotion happening in the halls. They ran out to see what was going on, and to find the halls were overrun with ghosts and monsters. All the students ran out of the school to the track field, the only safe place for the student body.

"Isn't it Ace and Deuce, did you come to the sports field to evacuate too?" Riddle said simply.

"You guys got chased out too?" Deuce asked.

"Yep looks like Darx is up to something," Vil sighed in annoyance.

"Wait Grimm, Where is Y/n?" Azul asked.

"She's been taken by Darx!" Inir cried.

"What?!" everyone gasped in horror.

"It's true," Ortho said as he explained what had happened last night.

Weiss has been, well, my least favorite character since forever just because, like, everything about her and her interactions with faunus feels *gross* and because they never made her give an on-screen apology, or even a definite moment where she obviously got over herself, it sours everything involving her. She's mean when she's not doing plot-stuff, and like, the only time I ever liked her was in v5 which is ABSURD considering how bad v5 was

I kidna ranted a bit, so this is going under a readmore.

The writers realized that having a main character that was racist was problematic. But instead of having her actually grow on-screen like how Sokka grew past his sexism, they decided to drop it and pretend that it never existed. They didn’t understand that they have to have the character grow on-screen. There is no point in having a conflict on-screen if it’s all going to be resolved off-screen.

I’ll be honest, I’d have more respect if they at least tried to have it resolved on-screen and they botched it. Because at the very least, they would have tried. They wouldn’t have come off as lazy or ignorant if they had tried and failed than if they just didn’t try and failed even harder.

Like… It’s okay to have your characters hold problematic views. A lot of people like Sokka, and that guy started off a sexist pig with an inflated ego. Then he grew on-screen, and learned his lessons on-screen, and became a better person for it on-screen.

These guys want to act like they’re on the same level, but they don’t come close. They didn’t put in the effort. Avatar put in the effort, and they’re still fondly remembered for their phenomenal storytelling.

When people look back on this show, they’re going to only remember cool fight scenes. There are clips on youtube highlighting fight scenes. But when you look up clips of AtLA, you see all sorts of character moments. All sorts of moments that highlight the characters and their growth. Yang’s speech to Raven or the moment where Ruby met Penny are likely the highest-viewed non-combat clips that are around. And that’s because those are really impactful character moments. Everything else is just… unmemorable. I hardly remember any of Ruby’s speeches that are likely only there to give her more lines and remind us that she’s one of the titular characters.

Honestly, Weiss had potential. Take Richie’s dad from Static Shock as an example. All characters directly called him out, and he ended up growing as a character because of it. Since he’s not one of the major characters, it’s more understandable that he wouldn’t get as much screentime as Weiss, who is part of the title, would but when we see him in a later episode, he’s on amicable terms with the Hawkins family. Weiss is a major character, and thus, we have to actually see her apologize, grow and be a better person.

Any material that implies or states that this happened is in supplementary material. So to an average viewer that doesn’t read the books, comics, or manga, Weiss never apologized.

Literally the absolute bare minimum they could do now is mention that it happened off-screen. But given the track record, even that’s unlikely to happen now. Like, here’s a way to make it seem natural:

Ruby: I really wish that this didn’t have to happen.

Blake: Unfortunately, not everything is fixed with a simple “I’m sorry.”

Ruby: But… You forgave Weiss.

Blake: She at least tried to make up for what she said. Ironwood can’t be reasoned with. Not anymore…

And there you have it. A pretty simple and straightforward way to have them mention Weiss apologizing. It stays on-topic of the situation at hand, and it’s pretty in-character. knocking on heaven’s door

Thanks for being my first request, anon! I had a ton of fun writing this, and I hope it’s to your liking.

Warning: It’s yandere + Rohan. We all know where this is gonna go.

The door is right in front of you. It'd be so easy, to reach out and open it and never come back here again.

And yet, you find it impossible. Not for a lack of wanting - your arm simply refuses to listen to you, hanging limply by your side. You flex your fingers to test them, and are relieved to feel them moving, but the moment you think about reaching for the door knob, your whole body grows stiff.

'What the hell is going on?' You think in anxious confusion.

In the next moment, you become aware of that familiar presence behind you. The soft, unhurried footsteps heading towards you cause your heart to thud faster in your chest.

"I told you, didn't I?" Rohan says as he reaches your side. He leans casually against the wall of the hallway, his arms crossed as he regards you with a small frown. "You're not going anywhere."

What has he done? You don't understand, but you know it must have been something he did that is preventing you from leaving.

A thin layer of cold sweat is starting to build on your skin, and you clench your fists again, desperate for something to anchor you to reality. You force your gaze to turn to Rohan, even though the last thing you want to do right now is look at him, or be anywhere near him at all.

"Let me go," you say lowly, hating how your voice shakes a little at the end.

Rohan seems amused at your words as he smirks. "No," he says, waving the idea off dismissively. "I told you all about that too, didn't I? My house, my rules. And I just decided on a new rule: you're going to stay right here with me, as long as I want you to."

You shake your head in disbelief. He can't be serious, can he? He can't actually mean that..?

But things have always been off with Rohan, right from the very beginning. Just days after your friend Koichi introduced you two, you found yourself unable to shake off Rohan's presence from your life. Any time you went out anywhere, he'd somehow find you and make up excuses for sticking by your side all day. Even if you tried to persuade him to leave, he wouldn't listen. Koichi told you that's just the type of guy that he is, doing whatever he pleases, but you had that underlying feeling of discomfort about it all.

And the one thing that you never liked was how he always insisted on drawing you.

You were never particularly fond of your appearance, but Rohan seemed to have different ideas. Numerous times you caught him sketching you while you were supposed to be hanging out. He'd call you his inspiration, say you were the most fascinating and lovely thing he's ever looked at, that he simply must get you down on paper for the sake of his pride as a manga artist. At first these words embarrassed you, but the more insistent he became, the more uncomfortable they made you.

Sometimes you made him get rid of these sketches, other times you confiscated them yourself (though you had to admit, the version of you drawn by his hand was delightfully flattering), but he'd always just draw more, so you eventually gave up.

Being invited over to his place wasn't uncommon, either. And you did come along a few times, usually with Koichi but on occasion on your own as well. Beyond the fact he'd draw you even more in the comfort of his own house, nothing bad ever really happened.

You thought nothing of it when he suggested you come over this afternoon, either. It'd be just like any other time, and at least you'd get to drink his high-brand tea to make up for your time. It wouldn't be all that bad, would it?

But things deteriorated quickly when Rohan suddenly brought up the topic of your new friend.

"You've been hanging out with Josuke lately, haven't you?" he asked out of nowhere, his voice laced with accusation. "And don't try to deny it. I know you have."

He was right. And Josuke had mentioned to you the rather tense animosity between the two of them. But so what? You had the right to be friends with whoever you pleased.

When you said as much, Rohan didn't take it very well. Halfway through his angry rant about how he wouldn't let someone like Josuke near you again, you decided you had enough. You got up and headed right for his front door. He warned you to stay, to not push him - but you ignored his words. For all his talk, he'd never actually done anything to harm you in the past, and you didn't see why he'd start now.

That was your second mistake.

The first had been agreeing to come here on your own at all, as you now realise staring into Rohan's eyes and seeing that he definitely wasn't joking about anything he'd said to you so far.

The thought that he really wouldn't let you leave causes a wave of icy fear to wash over you. You want to be strong, but you can’t help feeling the rising panic in your chest. Surely there has to be something you can do, some way you can run away from him...

Rohan, who was silently observing you for the past few seconds, suddenly moves towards you. You gasp and instinctively take a step back, unable to tear your eyes from that wild look in his eyes.

Your back is soon met with the hard resistance of a wall, and before you know it Rohan has you cornered. His hands rest on the wall either side of you, keeping you in place. He leans in even closer, his eyes boring into yours.

"That's a good face you're making right now," he says quietly, hungrily drinking in your expression. The sheer intensity of his gaze disturbs you.

"Now, if you continue to resist me, you'll be forcing my hand again." One of Rohan's hands moves to touch your cheek, his fingers slowly sliding down to your neck. The touch is gentle, but you detect a threat somewhere behind it.

"I can make this very easy for you," Rohan continues, while you try to level your breathing. "I can make sure you're going to listen to every word I say. I can make that choice for you. But I'd much rather you choose to stay with me of your own will. It'd be such a shame, to risk losing those beautiful expressions of yours."

You don't really know what he means by any of it, but you do know he's not lying. Whatever he did to you, it made you unable to walk out of his house. The fact that he could influence you beyond just your actions - that he could control your will, what you wanted and didn't want to do - is as terrifying as it is nauseating.

"Well?" Rohan prompts impatiently. "What will you choose?"

What will you choose? Between staying here willingly, or having him force you to stay...

But that's not a choice, you think to yourself desperately. I just want to go home!

Yet the look in Rohan's eyes guarantees that that's not an answer he would accept.

You take a deep breath and fight back the urge to cry. You don't want to stay. You don't want to be here. You don't want to be near him.

You force the words out, before he gets angry again. "I... I'll stay."

"And you'll listen to me?" Rohan questions further, staring at you expectantly.

"...Yes." What else can you say? If agreeing is the only way to avoid experiencing that horrible feeling of your body refusing to listen to you - or worse, having it do something you don't want it to - then your choice has already been made for you.

"Excellent." Rohan smiles in a self-satisfied manner, finally taking a step back. You find yourself breathing easier without his presence smothering you.

It only lasts for a moment, because soon enough Rohan's hand sneaks around your waist and he tugs you along further into the house, towards the living room. You cast a look over your shoulder. The front door stands there unassumingly, your only means of escape growing distant behind you. You were so close...

"Here." Rohan sits you on his couch, while he grabs the sketchbook he previously left abandoned on the coffee table. "Just stay right there. You look magnificent..."

You sit rigidly, shoulders tense and hands in your lap. You stare silently at the floor, still fighting back the tears threatening to spill from your eyes. For a while, the only sound in the room is that of a pencil scratching over paper, but when it suddenly comes to a stop, you find yourself glancing up.

Rohan is staring at you in a way you can only describe as ravenous.

"Don't look so upset. I'm only drawing," he chastises, despite the fact he seems to enjoy your distress. "I can think of many other things we can do when I’m done..."

You wish so badly that you could leave. But while Rohan gets back to his sketching, all you can do is sit there quietly and prepare yourself to fulfil his next whim, whenever it arrives.

1. who is your favorite character in 2?

This one’s really hard, but I think I gotta go with Raven Reyes.

Okay so this one is really hard because it’s the only show I’ve ever watched where even the opponents are given healthy backstories, but the coach from Shiratorizawa is kind of a douche, so we’ll go with him.

3. what is your favorite episode of 4?

Maybe the last one? All of those kids telling the four horsemen to go fuck themselves was beautiful.

4. what is your favorite season of 5?

Oohh, this is a good one. I think I liked Season 2 the best? Although I loved watching Joffrey die in Season 4.

5. who is your favorite couple in 3?

I’ve never seen the first campaign, and I’m only partway through the second one, so I guess I have to go with Yasha/Zuella. Their story is so heartbreaking.

6. who is your favorite couple in 2?

Beware: mini-rant ahead.

I'm honestly not very into shipping. I liked and still sort of like Bellarke, but it’s harder to come up with ships I DON’T like than ones I do. Some I like more than others, others make no sense to me, but I don’t watch it for the ships (not a dig if you do!). One of the things I had to get over was that the timing on this show of romantic relationships never made a whole lot of sense to me - either things happened way sooner than I expected, or way later. Or they were way more (or less) serious than I anticipated. People forgave (or didn’t forgive!) each other or didn’t at a rate I couldn’t predict, and I realized that the writers aren’t operating on my wavelength. Which is fine, but that means I sort of watch the show for what it is and then imagine how I would write things if I was in control of the narrative.

7. what is your favorite episode of 1?

This is such a hard question to answer, but I think I have to go with ‘Halo Around the Moon’. Tsukki’s arc is my favorite in the whole series, and that moment where he blocked Ushijima’s spike to win the second set had me SCREAMING the first time I saw it.

8. what is your favorite episode of 5?

Don’t know if I have one, tbh.

9. what is your favorite season of 2?

Season 2!

10. how long have you watched 1?

I started watching it this spring and will probably get into the manga at some point.

11. how did you become interested in 3?

My sister plays D&D, and I’d seen some of it on Tumblr. So glad I jumped in!

David Tennant.

13. which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?

Oh wow. Although I’ve loved GOT and The 100 for much longer, I think I have to go with Haikyuu. Such a well-written show, and I’ve never felt cheated or lied to by the narrative, even if I didn’t like it.

14. which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3 ?

I’ve seen all of Haikyuu and only part of the second campaign of Critical Role, so Haikyuu.

15. if you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?

Uh. God, I guess? So I could lean over and be like, “I DID NOT WORK FOR SEVEN DAYS STRAIGHT JUST SO YOU YAHOOS COULD MESS EVERYTHING UP, OKAY!?!”

16. would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?

Critical Role and Good Omens...good lord! I think so? In a world where Adam can will things into being, he could absolutely imagine elves, dwarves, orcs, etc. being real. Which would make it possible for CR characters to make the jump to the world of Good Omens.

17. pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple.

I 100% ship Coach Ukai with Tanaka’s sister, Saeko. They’d make adorably sassy, hot blond babies.

18. overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5?

Critical Role. The storytelling fell apart in Game of Thrones pretty quickly after GRRM left the production.

19. which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?

I like them both, but I’m gonna go with The 100′s Theme.

Why i don’t like Star vs Season 4 so far:

To get this s**t out of the way, yes i am a Starco shipper. My reasonings have NOTHING to do with shipper stuff though.

Now that that’s out of the way let me just commence with a f***in huge a** rant.

TLDR first because rant, explanation and reasonings will be under readmore.

So Tl:dr.: Marco is pretty much Marco from Season 1. And while i really love that his relationship with Star is back to Season 1 lightheartedness, i really REALLY hate that his character also seems to slowly but surely regress.

Now to the rant part

Now i want to uphold my right to change my mind because english is my secondary language, hungarian being my mother language and to top that off where i saw the episode the audio is the most crappy at the most crucial parts, and i MAY have misunderstood or worse missed dialog between characters.

However from what i precieved so far from this- what... 6 episodes, is that Marco is regressing to the neurotic comic relief character, that in serious moments is the voice of reason, or you know Star’s angel figure of the shoulder demon-angel picture.

Marco in Season 1 was Star’s voice of reason, for him being from Earth he knew more, but i also credit it to Marco being a HUMAN.

Human meaning: You know, that creature that is the apex predator of a whole f***in planet SIMPLY because of their superior intellect.

While Star is from a society based on magic that’s FULL of senseless shenanigans, you expect her to be instinctual, feral, random, which she WAS.

Marco is from a society based on science. Everything has a reason, every problem has a correct way to approach it. Intellect, sophisticated, calculated, predictable, which he WAS.

The great thing about their partnership is that they gave a little bit of their society to each other, those bits that each respectively yearned for or atleast needed.

Star gained understanding, Marco gained something unexplainable by science, something new in his life, DIVERSITY from the norm.

Understandably, season 1 had them and them only in focus, in which case someone has to carry the story on their back(and that must be Star, she is the title figure after all) and someone has to carry the comic relief buisness(Marco and his neurotic illstarredness[yes that was a pun]).

More shortly: The stress and de-stress factors that’s mandatory for a show like Star vs.

It’s BRILLIANT for a starter Season, but you know there is something with characters that i like to call the “Snapping point”.

I use that phrase in the context of character vs episode or character vs tv show(or whatever else medium your character appears in, this appears in mangas a whole lot too)

To explain what a Snapping point is i must first introduce you to the Snapping characters. And then the different style of snapping point/snapping characters, but let’s come up with examples first.

(Interestingly enough in most shows/comics/mangas/whatever my favourite characters end up being snapping characters)

Examples.:

Beast Boy - Teen Titans 2003

Katara - Avatar the last airbender

Raphael - TMNT2012

Chopper - One Piece

Charmander - OG Pokemon series

Lucy - Fairy Tail

Now, the snapping characters most usually are from the main cast but they are not THE main characters of their show. They are important, but mostly to fill a role.

Let’s take the first two of the list as examples. Coincidentally they are two different type of snapping characters, so explaining each mirroring the other will help me explain it even in more debth.

Katara as a main character has a set characteristic, in which way the show itself interacts with her.

Katara is a mothering figure and the show treats her as such, so much so that in one episode it’s even a conflict starter. Her motherly behavior is a very important, very magnified point in her character. However there is one episode in the whole series where she as a character goes againts this point and you as a viewer almost forget that she is the group’s mother-figure.

No, it’s not the blood bending episode, and also not the episode where she teaches the old man that women can be just as good students as men.

Both of those episode show us her strenght, and she gets angry yes, but you don’t forget her motherly characteristic because for the majority of those episodes she still acts like our dear, established mom character. An angry mom.

The episode where she snaps her role, where you might even say she is OOC(when she is indeed NOT ooc, it’s just we get a glance at how she looks like when one of her core traits is pushed WAY out of her mind) is the episode where she and Zuko go and find her mother’s murderer.

Ask yourself: when was Katara the scariest? Bloodbending is scary, but you still see her being true to herself and mourn her innocence, you see her cry, you don’t forget what she is like, you more like pity her, mourn with her.

But don’t tell me that when you first saw her STOP THE RAIN AROUND HER you didn’t s**t your pants, because you did. It was completely in character but you didn’t expect her to do so, because you were thinking of Katara as the kind character it’s just that she’s mad. Yes she was mad, but you still expected her to be toned down, quiet and loving and kind like she usually is. She SNAPS the expectation, the norm episodes usually put her in and pushes further because the show(from her perspective: life) just pushed her over that specific “border”.

Now Beast Boy is in a completely different position as a character, and has a different “border” that he was pushed over, but still he is a snapping character.

He had serious moments in previous seasons and episodes, but we can all agree that he is the comic relief of the bunch. Your usual underdog, gets pushed around, loser, weak (eventhough he got GODLIKE POWERS FFS)

It even gets noted by Raven and Cyborg and sometimes even Robin that he seems to lose a lot of times. In the episode “Every dog has his day” his core personality is what causing the conflict even.

You expected him in the Terra themed episodes to behave the way he did eventhough he was far from being a comic relief in those episodes. He didn’t really break out of his role. He is still the one that gets beaten up, still the one making mistakes (although Terra made bigger ones so the real focus is on those) NONE of the Terra episodes is his snapping point.

My favourite episode of the whole show is The Beast Within, is where he reaches it.

The show puts BB in the loser position it usually does, but it is as if he gets self concious, he just SNAPS and breaks the “same old” frame, and for a whole episode he behaves OOC, which- again -isn’t OOC at all, it’s just what he looks like when he finally has enough.

Usually, Beast Boy doesn’t do too much in fights, the heavy lifting is done by Starfire and Cyborg, the style is Robin, the magic is Raven, Beast Boy is mostly a hole-filler. If none of the 4 can handle something, you can bet your behind that it will be BB who takes over(i’m looking at you Season 5)

The episode starts the same way, BB gets his butt kicked, but then he just... he just snaps. There really isn’t much of a catalyst, Adonis trashtalks and that’s it..., he isn’t the first to trashtalk and certainly not the last. The point is that Beast Boy DESTROYS Adonis in the start of the episode and even at the end, and beats up his own teammates meanwhile too, for good measure. I remember seeing this on TV the first time and i WAS scared of BB. I always knew he had monsterish powers but i not only got shocked because he breaked out of the norm, he VALIDATED my suspicion, that he is MUCH more than a joke. It’s almost like he deliberatelly lets the show kick him around because he just doesn’t care.

Now, both of these just happen to be aggressive show of the “Snapping point” but there are milder examples.

Like Lucy’s Snapping point (Fairy Tail) is when she saves Loki the Lion celestial spirit.

The Snapping point is not a show of power, but a break from their magnified characteristics to show that they are more. Most usually it’s shown with a powershow, that’s true, but Lucy for example up to that point was a damsel in distress stereotype with tweaks here and there. In saving Loki through stubborn spiritdoor opening she broke from that magnified characteristic of hers and showed that she is capable of much more.

Notably main characters don’t have snapping points, because as they are in the focus the majority of the show, they are shown in much more detail, much more smaller steps just how much they are capable of.

Aang shows the Avatar state in the very first episode.(The avatar state being a quite literal break from his normal characteristics, since he is technically being possessed by his previous lives)

Robin almost never loses a battle, he constantly shows just how much he is capable of.

And Natsu.... let’s not even go there. It’s like bringing up Son Goku. He is almost always on screen, roaring and getting more and more powerful as he goes, JUST because he’s the main character. You know he will never lose there is no border for them to be pushed over.(And as such they are boring characters to me. Well atleast combat-wise, i like them both as characters it’s just they don’t have “THE” big moment, they are constantly in it. If you are constantly in it, it’s like you’re never there.)

But back to Marco.

All throughout Season 1 and 2 and majority of Season 3 he was fine.

The things happening to him may not have been easy to watch as a fan, but they had valid reasons for happening. He had very small snapping points which i was happy for, but then it’s as if they were forgotten by Season 4.

You see the point of this whole “Snapping” buisness is demonstration, for the viewer to keep in mind.

After The Southern Raiders, the viewer never forgot how much controll Katara had, and what brute strenght. So in the fight againts Azula you were completely prepared for pure badassness. You KNEW s**ts about to go down when you saw Katara’s eyes drawn similarly as when she was about to make a pintcushion out of the dude who’s name i mysteriously just forgot... a few minutes ago i knew it... i’m getting sidetracked.

After The Beast Within you knew that Beast Boy knows exactly how to use his powers effectively, it’s more like you were aware now that he is constantly holding back. So when you saw him beat demon after demon up in the Season 4 finale, even his own evil self, EVEN STARFIRE’S EVIL SELF, you knew that he always had it in him, he’s just the pure character he is.

After you saw Lucy go to such lenght as to almost deplete her own magic to save Loki(which back then meant death but Mashima mysteriously forgot about that just like how i forgot that dude’s name that Katara scarred for life) you were not surprised that she all alone freed her WHOLE GD GUILD from that demon prison that absorbed living beings into it’s walls. (Including Natsu who we all know is OP AF) You knew she totally would no spare herself all her effort.

But Marco? Firstly, in the Season opening episodes, he had the role of comic relief again, which in itself wouldn’t be a problem IF RIVER WASN’T THERE FOR THAT VERY SAME ROLE ALREADY.

Secondly, he had MINOR snapping points which were forgotten already by crew and by fans... His dimension-adventures could have been such a massive snapping point but it ISN’T. He didn’t change AT ALL. He doesn’t have anything to show for it AT ALL. (Justanawesomedragoncicle) And that’s why i still stand by my fellow Starco shippers saying it’s not pedophilic because he quite literally has nothing to show for that 30+ years now. NOTHING.NADA.WE LEARNED NOTHING MORE OF HIM. HE IS SO VERY MUCH THE SAME, which is why we all say that this dimension-adventure stuff was for nothing but s**ts and giggles. Marco wouldn’t be any less if these episodes wouldn’t exist. He’s certainly nothing more with them. In the Season 3 finale he did show off his skills but just like that they were forgotten. *Poof*

SO FAR the show treats Marco with amnesia.

Everyone else is treated properly. I couldn’t be more proud of Tom from the last episode, really. Star-... *sigh* she seems to have taken a step back too but with all the bs going on around her and her family i can’t blame her. There is such a thing as “too much” storylines on one shoulder, which is so fken clear she can’t handle all at once, so i don’t really mind her not addressing the kiss nor her feelings.

But come OOONN, MARCO! My boy... shooting the same joke twice, pushing them even...

FFS you are a HUMAN from EARTH!! That Earth full of apex megaminds, and you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see if the swimming trunks are too big or too small! And ffs if it stops circulation, use your common sense boi- TAKE IT OFF.

And i get that it was a joke, but that one joke was pushed ALL THROUGHOUT THE EPISODE. It was not funny...it was cringeworthy.

Rn i feel he is nothing more but a joke. If he didn’t appear in most of those episodes it wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Yes there were times where he WAS the voice of common sense, but it was outweighted with sheer stupidity which was not funny nor de-stressing.

The jokes with him were taking me out of the story, not allevitating Star’s serious buisness.

Slash fandom fetishizing theorizing

This tumblr is basically now all about Fandom Things That Irritate Me... When Suddenly Reminded. On today's episode, I'll have to say that I'm really tired of the discourse around the 'fetishization' of gay/bi men in fandom, and particularly how this is the first and best thing people like to throw at shippers when they're being too... shippy (which is shocking, I know).

It's ironic 'cause, of course, I'm often irritated at the excesses of shipping in general and the way people fixate only on the parts of characters and their relationships that they want to. I've written a post about friendships vs. the role of Bluesey, and a recent post that deals with Pynch (if indirectly) in a similar manner. Of course, instead of insisting people who can't appreciate the line between the platonic and romantic dynamics in The Raven Cycle are fetishizing gay relationships, I've highlighted the differences and the importance of both. Implying that the platonic dynamics are more interesting or important to discuss isn't something I'd ever want to do, however.

The thing about the ever-popular fetishism discourse is that it assumes some sort of underlying questionable intent, whereas surely most people are simply acting in the most natural manner possible as fans. It's the more canon-centric friendship flag wavers that are weird and unusual in the fannish context. It's honestly weird if one had somehow not noticed this basic fact of life in fandom. I mean, not that there's anything wrong with enjoying canon 'as is' (to say the least), but it's not like we're somehow the average. And because canon-centric fans are rare, it seems oddly disingenuous to question the motivation and moral fiber of the great majority of all ship fandom, or to act like naturally shippy behavior is limited or specific to fans of a particular pairing. And of course, not least because many of the people involved in it are themselves queer.

I should clarify that I do think a certain 'fetishism' of gay relationships is not uncommon in fandom. In the sense that many straight/bi fangirls (and women in general) often have a special interest in two guys being in a sexual relationship. I haven't made a study of this, but speaking of myself, I'm not immune. I definitely have a special interest, being a slash fan. I *particularly* enjoy gay-themed fanfic, manga, movies and published fiction. I don't know if psychoanalyzing myself is relevant here, but I'd still say this isn't fetishism in the sense that I have no sense of reality or proportion, or I confuse stories for some kind of documentary, or I wouldn't treat actual gay men like human beings. I don't go around following gay couples and cooing, or ask them who's really the wife, or whatever it is the worst case scenario would be. However, I'd go out on a limb and say the great majority of slash and/or BL manga fans and even fag hags aren't completely tone deaf and offensive in that manner. If a person is offensive, surely one can at least entertain the idea that it's their personal issue or a lack of maturity, rather than blaming their special interest.

It certainly seems to me that it's predominantly people who categorically reject slash fandom as a whole that tend to be fond of charges of shipping as gay fetishism. There's a sense among progressives in general that one shouldn't step outside the bounds of one's people, shouldn't presume to speak for anyone else, which often translates into not being too *interested*. I've seen people claim that owning certain kinds of souvenirs or buying culturally unique items made in other countries was offensive and appropriative. We're supposed to 'show respect' for minorities by keeping a certain polite distance, not taking too many liberties. In this case, even with fictional characters. Which is where it all seems to become a bit of a farce, honestly.

First of all, the idea of people needing to be sensitive and polite to real people *through* their relationship to fictional characters needs to be addressed. It's truly irrational. Sure, there are some queer men out there who seem to take issue with how gay relationships and sexual behavior is often portrayed in slash fic. The portrayal of the role of friendship vs romantic relationships is along those lines. However, people's feelings and opinions can easily be ill founded and unrepresentative. As an example, there are also feminist activists who think all women are being offended by the fact that any man anywhere enjoys masturbating to (probably violent and certainly very unrealistic) porn in the privacy of their home. That porn is offensive and inappropriately/unrealistically depicts women, so supposedly all the men in the world have a responsibility to boycott this porn, and hopefully all other porn, if they want to show their respect for 'women'. I don't know if these feminists really think most women agree on the importance of eradicating all porn, but I assume the women who disagree are simply judged to be not feminist enough. Easy. If the men don't agree, well, these men are pigs who don't respect women. In sum: it's too many silly exaggerations and irrational arguments to count. This is why we can't have nice things.

It's one thing to critique the way fandom fixates on shipping, or ignores canon context. Heaven knows I rant about the latter all the time, and twice on Tuesdays. But it's another thing to imply Pynch fans squeeing about the ship and not writing essays about the importance of Ronan and Adam's other relationships aren't treating the characters as real enough human beings. Even if that was true, it wouldn't follow they *should* treat fictional characters as human beings anyway: that's a gift a reader may or may not bestow, if the author is good enough. It certainly wouldn't mean they actually don't do so in another tag and/or context. And besides that, it wouldn't follow that the fixation on the romance isn't due to its inherent attraction, but just because it's hot being *gay*. Like, surely it seems highly counterintuitive to say we don't *really* ship the things we ship, but instead any two guys would do in the end. Surely there's enough actual gay porn on the internet for people not to resort to YA fanfic to get off, and surely there are actually pairings with both more fics and more hardcore and/or explicit material than you'd find on the Pynch tag.

The fact that I'm far from the first person to make these points suggests two things: one, no one ever convinced anyone of anything on the Internet. And two, I'm guessing the 'gay fetishist' accusers aren't super interested in the reality of the situation in the first place, and self-righteousness is King of the Internet (as usual).
