They ended on my favorite Yang song.
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but…
I'm going to miss Rooster Teeth.
They had their issues, but they were still a mark on internet entertainment that won't ever be replicated ever again. There's going to be a hole in internet culture and entertainment because of their absence.
Honestly, to see them go…
… It's heartbreaking.

Maybe he shouldn’t have been those things.
He’s not shutting it down for any altruistic or financial reasons. He’s doing it because he hates animation.
We’re talking about the guy who claims The Flash was the best movie ever, but shelved Coyote VS ACME without having seen it once.
So I’m not going to give that piece of shit any breathing room whatsoever. He’s a greedy-ass animation hating zionist kkkunt.
End of story.

Gonna be real with you rt did not shut down bc zaslav or w/e its spelled as hates animation. It shut down because it was hemorrhaging money Already and showed no sign of stopping.
Fuck it. This is now a zaslav hate zone.
If you at all try to make excuses for zaslav, when he's basically stealing money from WBD by axing all their projects, you're on a shitlist.
Just because it wasn't "making enough money", that means there was no excuse.
zaslav axed Coyote VS ACME despite it being finished and not even being released.
FUCK IT! ANON: You are now the reason why anonymous is turned off.
Anyone trying to shift blame from zaslav will be assumed to be a fan of his and will be blocked ON SIGHT.
WB Stocks are down, and his pay is up. He's a greedy-ass motherfucking zionist animation-hating kkkunt, and any and all cancelled projects under WB are on his head until his head is no longer attached to his body.

Y'know… I thought I'd hate the Jaune episode.
But it's just… I don't know.
Now that the whole show is ending because zaslav had to be a greedy-ass motherfucking zionist animation-hating kkkunt, I just…
I'm going to miss this.
What WB is doing to RT is heinous. I've seen too many shows that ended without a proper finale, and it was hard. But with RWBY… It really feels like I grew up with it.
Yeah, it had its ups and downs, the company as well, but the whole thing was a pillar of internet culture and entertainment. A lot of animators, artists, writers, gamers, and so many more people who brought us the culture of internet entertainment were inspired by Rooster Teeth.
And it's really not fair that they're getting wiped out like this.
In all honesty, I thought that it would have been bankruptcy that would have done them in, not some greedy company whose stocks are going down, but whose CEO is profiting off of all the destruction of entertainment.
It truly feels like these are the end times. And that nothing else is really going to be here at the end.
Even if people were inspired because they wanted to one-up RT in terms of how to write a racism subplot, or because they wanted a show that actually knew how to write trauma, or because they wanted to spite them in some form… They were still inspired in a way.
And then there are the people who wanted to make something that emulated what they made. Something with fantastic adventures. Something with a fun cast. Or even just something that had a lot of action to it…
Rooster Teeth, for better or for worse, was an inspiration to a lot of people. I doubt we would have gotten a resurgence of internet sketches if it weren't for them. Podcasts wouldn't be as accessible without them.
And most of all… I wouldn't have really been able to articulate my thoughts here if it weren't for them.

im eyeing all the “but what about all the employees who lost their job” people
ya what are YOU doing about it?
how about you STOP BEING PERFORMATIVE and go support them on their personal stuff.
And I’m speaking from someone from Hawaii. A minority from a place illegally occupied. A place where we have to slut out our culture to appease and appeal to the majority (yay Tourism). If Hawaii were to get real and actually show how TIRED we’re all of you haoles taking advantage of us we’d rot. What do yall think is happening with the survivors oh Lahania’s Wild Fire. Yall performative asses ditched them immediately.
But back to “sad that the abused workers at Roosterteeth are unemployed and free from abuse”
Seriously DO SOMETHING to help them if your so sad. it cost $0 to watch them on twitch. or comment on their post saying “I like [RVB, Deathbattle. etc] I’d watch more if you and a few others made it again” AND ACTUALLY DO IT. because empty promises is part of yknow being preformative
and part of not being performative is doing your own homework
But i doubt yall will because RT was the company that built itself on being performative. And yall are fans of that.
FNDM wants more RWBY from the people who tries to work their animators through the Texas freeze. 🥶 🥶

I'm not one who would go to bat for Rooster Teeth. They had horrible conditions, and there was a host of problems that they also had, but still…
They were a bastion of internet content. Machinima, original content, all sorts of things. They were arguably the thing that made the breakthrough for it.
It's hard to imagine the internet without them.
For better and for worse… There won't be another Rooster Teeth. Not for a long time.
So please stop celebrating people losing their jobs. These are real people. Not a bunch of soulless machines. It would suck if people celebrated you losing your job all because you worked at a Starbucks or a McDonalds.
Maybe some of them will bounce back, maybe they won't. Not all of them will bounce back, but we should still be sad for the people who lost their jobs.
This is the last thing I'm going to say for a while. I've have my issues with RT, RWBY, RvB, etc… But even they deserved better than this.

That reminder post was very well said. While I'd like to see the show concluded via (much) more humane working conditions if at all, fans have fics & other avenues so long as their interest lasts. Meanwhile, creatives in the field need whatever lets 'em survive & hopefully thrive.
I just want two things to come from RWBY: Humane conditions for the people working on it, and for the story to conclude on the note that the creators wanted.
I may have had my issues with the show, but that doesn't outweigh how big of an impact it had on me, and the good times I've had either.
For now, all we can do is support those that are willing to continue the story and hope.

Y'know, the fact that a lot of the employees found out via Twitter is messed up.
Like "Breaking up with someone through a text message" messed up.
They deserved to have found out through a company email or in a meeting.
There are so many people who just lost their jobs and they found out through Twitter. That's just nuts.

Well, can't say this wasn't inevitable.
Roosterteeth is finally shutting down. And despite all the issues I've got with the company, it kinda is a bit of a gut punch. For a lot of people, this was probably a large chunk of internet culture that people had grown up with. From Red vs. Blue, to RWBY, to plenty of their other IPs.
And yeah. They had a lot of controversy over the years, but let's' be real: So have a lot of other companies. They weren't as bad as Activision at the very least, but goddamn, were the controversies piling up a lot.
But that's not to say that they haven't also had some good out there. There are a lot of people out there that wouldn't be as well-known without them. Voice actors, animators, writers, artists, etc. And that's not to mention the community they built.
There are plenty of people I wouldn't have met without RT's existence. Artists I never would have come across, voice actors I wouldn't have followed, animators I wouldn't have admired. All that stuff.
Not to mention the hand they had in other IPs getting more well-known. No way a show like DEATH BATTLE would have been able to make something as great as Galactus vs. Unicron for their season finale without RT's resources.
Let's not forget that this isn't just something that's affecting RT. Thanks to david zaslav and his shitty decisions, animation across WB has been taking hit after hit for years. Even live-action was shat on by the bastard. Batgirl was written off for tax reasons, Cyote vs. ACME was trashed because of his decisions. So it's more than just RT that's going down.
It's a bit of a frightening thing. If this could happen to RT, then what else can his decisions shut down?
Sure, a lot of us here in the rwde tag will be happy about RT going down, but what about the other divisions that WB has?
Not to say that RT didn't also bring it on itself. Between RTX, Gen:LOCK, all their trips outside the states, and the controversies that prompted people to cancel their FIRST memberships, RT was basically one foot in the grave. Zaslav just made them put the next foot in.
Gotta say, that this whole thing had a lot of ups and downs. But goddamn… I sure hope that all the people who worked there are going to be alright. Companies are hardly just the decisions of the higher-ups. They're also people further down the totem pole that will be hurt by this.
Sure. The writing was on the wall. But there are people who will need the support and help that they can only get through community support.
Peace out, rwde tag.

One thing I truly won't miss whenever this show finally stops sticking to the inner lining of my cerebellum: how fuckin' insufferably high-handed the Extra Enthusiastic Big Name Fans & longform 'this is how u Properly Analyze such a masterwork' essayists could get. Staggering 'how dare you disagree with me you lobotomized peon, that's Not Allowed' vibes from so many of 'em.
Anon.
The main reason I made this was because I actually like the show, and just wanted a place for discussions about it, the good and the bad. The show isn't horrible. It's got all the same flaws as other shows do.
Like… Zuko has nightmares about Azula. Not the abusive prick that burned his face. That's a questionable decision on the A:tLA writers' part to do, just to get us to demonize her a lot more than the literal overarching villain of the series.
RWBY is no different. It's just that, we grew up on stuff like A:tLA, so we hold it in higher regard than we do with RWBY, a show we have watched as grown-ups.
Harping on how excited fans are of the show isn't something to be proud of, it's something to be ashamed of. I'm sure someone who watched the 90s animated X-Men series probably looked at something you liked and said "It's dumb. Here's a bunch of flaws in the show."
Literally everything looks better through rose-colored glasses. And I also feel that you're projecting a lot of your frustrations on fans.
Because the fans want to interact with, guess what?- Other fans. They don't want to always have a lot of negativity about the show.
TL;DR:
This is a place to discuss the show. The craptacular company that produces it. And the other behind-the-scenes stuff.
Sure, a toxic fan might get brought up now and then, but I'm not about to say that everyone is like kob, in which you have to like the show or else they're an enemy.
Because otherwise, their generalizations about the people who are critical of the show are just as valid as your generalizations of people who like the show.

TBH it really seems like even a lot of remaining rwdeposters are more hellbent on whatever they consider character/plot fuckups (which I don't always disagree with!) than pointing out Arr Tee's goddamn core worker abuses. Tons of "Yang doesn't introspect properly as an isolated combat amputee" or "how dare they withhold things from Ironwood" or "why is Jaune eating this much of the script", way less "so, uh, did they actually cut down on crunch? Doubled down in the middle of a plague?! WTF??"
Literally saw a post saying "No. Don't let Blake be happy, give her more trauma" today. And like…
Guys. I get it. You want the story to be better. You want the representation to be improved. You want more character development. But…
Priorities. Workers' conditions first, then story.

Stunted V9 complaint: I'm annoyed some longform fan-wags got ammo for the premise that Yang was just as neglectful & stifling to Ruby in her own way as TQ. I mean, it makes sense awful coping devices get passed on and Kid!Yang wasn't remotely equipped to be a guardian, but weren't their early years shit enough without Current!Yang telling her overloaded team lead sis she doesn't get to express doubt 'cause 'that's how Ironwood thought'? Or letting Beard!Jaune blast Ruby for *everything?* Guh.
The "Yang's a bad sister unless she's protecting Ruby 24/7 and neglecting her own happiness and health" thing was what happened prior to the series.
Aside from that, if Ruby had been the one to lose her arm, Tai and Qrow would have 100% had taken her PTSD seriously and not compared it to "moping" or a fear of mice.
I get that Ruby is younger, and that garners more sympathy than Yang, who is older. But Yang isn't that much older and was ill-equipped to be Ruby's caretaker just on account of her own age, which Yang was about five years old at the time. She wasn't even ten, and people expected her to be the ultimate mom at that age.
People seem to forget that.

WRT V9 psych health, I wish those bong hit past-self affirmations were framed kinda-to-very-differently for WBY. Yang in particular had me going 'uhh, *what* mistakes and failures? The wagon trek when she was 6? Not checking the script to avert tragic plot beats, or instantly shaking off a trauma conga for her dad's convenience? Getting short with Maria after the train crash?' The 'whole' angle coulda tied to Yang's mom & abandonment issues, but nooo, it's 'mutilation Taught Me SMRTness' again.
We're all mad at those instances.
It very much would have been much more preferable if all the members could have gotten a "You can't take back your failures, so you should learn from them" moment. But it's just Ruby and jaune who get those moments.
Assuming that this show gets more volumes, I'm hoping that we get those in the future.

TFW I've concluded: (a) most fndm *and* rwdeposters have jank Yang takes (especially her true problems) but it's not worth the hassle now; (b) the show said some inane stuff in early marketing (where the 'party girl' shit started) and V4's 'arc' ('don't try saving injured hostages, dummy!'); (c) her characterization wasn't really gutshot 'til V9, which sucked less due to 'ignored sister 4 GF' than 'script-frozen in the face of Ruby's crisis'. Wish I hadn't fixed on this fictional person so hard.
Volume 9 was more about Ruby than it was about Yang. And while I have issues about how Yang (and other characters) were handled, she still ultimately came out of the volume much more mentally healthy than previous volumes.
It’s okay to fixate on a character, I feel like we’ve all done it. But if the character isn’t for you anymore, then that’s okay too.

Smidgen more Bees-v-Adam musing: most of the melee choreography was a huge improvement over past Maya volumes, though (a) Blake eating that faceplant off the tower seemed damn kludgey; (b) Adam wound up looking *absurdly* tanky; (c) what was up with all those 360 spins; and (d) the bit when Edgeweeb aura-blasts Yang *again* then jumps in to get 'Gotcha'ed just felt telegraphed as hell. Neat as the sword catch reveal was I wish a bit more technique (like, say, that arm pin) were involved there.
I guess that's what made it a good fight.

So the payoff for Dragon Dad's 'you're off-balance. By which I mean Semblance Way Less Ya Knucklehead' talk turned out to be 'Yang lets the guy who almost killed her land big splashy hits & *barely* depowers him before fizzling out'? How was *that* 'more balanced'? There were even 2 points in that fight where her Semblance might've aura-busted Adam's ass way earlier. Events were arranged so Blake ended him, which is only fair, but its earlier beats really didn't vindicate Tai's 'crucial input'.
The writers were so desperate to find a flaw in Yang's style that they just grabbed one that wasn't actually shown to be an issue for her. Her only major loss before Adam was against Neo, and there are a few flaws in that. 1: Tai wasn't present for that, so he couldn't make any comments about it. and 2: Neo's fighting style is all about countering fighting styles similar to Yang's.
It only got worse when Yang only started exhibiting the issues that Tai supposedly "fixed" in later volumes, and kept doing the same things as before but to a greater effect. Like, remember when she and the rest of her team fought the ace-ops in Volume 8? Yang struck at the ground to defeat her opponent then, and she did the exact same tactic back in her trailer.
The writers made up flaws in Yang's tactics that weren't shown, meaning that Tai's "advice" came off as more condescending than helpful.

Between the irritability WRT gaming losses (Qrow & Neptune in Vol 2), Neon's hair digs & bodyshaming (plus Ruby noting their effect with "Here we go") & that "let me guess: 'I was sloppy'" line in V4, think there's much case to be made for V1-4(ish) Yang struggling with a petulant streak?
Doubtful. The definition of "petulant" is "of a person or their manner childishly sulky or bad-tempered." Not only is Yang a teenager, as a lot of people seem to forget considering that they apparently expect her to make the adult decision every single time she's confronted with a difficult or irritating situation, but there's only so much that a person can take before they retaliate in a way that seems childish. Keep pressing poking the bear (or dragon, in this case), and you bring on the claws.
