Animal of the Day!
Crested Caracara (Caracara plancus)
Conservation Status- Least Concern
Habitat- Central America; South America; Southwestern United States
Size (Weight/Length)- 63 cm
Diet- Carrion; Insects; Birds; Mammals; Fish; Amphibians
Cool Facts- Surprisingly, the crested caracara is the second largest falcon in the world. The origins of these birds date back to the last glacial period where they scavenged from megafauna carrion. They are opportunistic predators today, where they eat almost anything. Ranging from stealing prey from smaller raptors and pelicans, to taking down prey flushed by wildfires, and even searching for circling vultures when looking for carrion. Some crested caracara have learned to follow cars with the hope that leftovers will be tossed out the window.
Rating- 13/10 (Can be found as north as Minnesota and as south as Peru.)

F-14 FUN FACT OF THE DAY #16
The F-16 Fighting Falcon and F/A-18 Hornet came in both single-seat and two-seat variants, primarily utilized as trainer aircraft. Unlike the two-seat variants of those aircraft, the F-14 Tomcat never had flight controls in the backseat, meaning the back seater could not take over flying the jet in cases of emergency. There were no F-14 Tomcat trainers.
Instead, they'd do a "flip flop hop." They'd have the new pilot sit in the back after someone "fluffed" the aircraft, aka ran through the start up procedures with another pilot as the new pilot was not trained to be a RIO. Then they would watch their instructor go through certain maneuvers, then they would switch and the trainee would perform the same maneuvers.
