I don't know if I'm just lucky or perhaps Star Trek has just the nicest fans ever but this commission was - again - such a lovely experience! This time @hobbithabits was the client and wanted an age swapped version of Bashirs and Garaks first meeting based on this fic: https://archiveofourown.org/works/54883567 (Past Prologue (Introductions and Intrigue)) Older Bashir was no problem, I've already drawn him and we got lots of beautiful pics of Sid. But younger Garak was a fun challenge. And I couldn't resist giving him Andys fluffy choir boy hair >:D. Commissions still open <3

So if Cardassians canonically argue to flirt, does that mean the way Garak keeps needling Bashir about being augmented, is him trying to say him being superhuman is really hot to him?

(it's so dark but also so funny that when tain keeps on Hinting Ominously, garak's reaction seems... slightly exasperated? more than anything, under all the tension fsdjafsl. this exact conversation has definitely happened multiple times over the last thirty years, lending horror an edge of 'oh this again huh' ennui and hilarity. 'I should have killed your mother before you were born'/'so you've told me, many times'. I think it's the turnaround time from 'I've missed you, Elim' to this that drives it from straightforward psychological horror sneaking dread to still that but also kind of hilarious. it really took tain less than five minutes to go there didn't it. wow. well, actually. I think maybe the real horror part is that garak still loves him and doesn't know how to stop. somewhere in there is a five year old whose heart is a desperate stupid little moth and his father is a ruinous forest fire in the night, brighter and closer than any star. of course it burns you to touch it that's just what love is, right. *spots a smiling julian bashir in the loading bay holding a box of chocolates out of the corner of his mind and experiences something harrowing and existential he simply cannot unpack right in this moment thank you* right???)

just started watching deep space nine! so what’s going on with the big lizard dude and that beautiful twink doctor. and why is it So tense. i feel like i’m intruding upon something every time they’re on screen together and they literally just met in this episode hello

no but actually garak nearly lost his eyes rolling them so hard at Julian in the spy program over all his fuckboy hologram flirting, but if julian had smirked at garak ONCE and said, "y'know, I'd love to see what your hair looks like without all that product," garak would have fainted

"I wonder where that bold young man I met so many years ago has gone..." Garak mused. "I seem to remember him telling me not to let them win."

"If you ever meet him again, will you tell him I've missed him?" Julian replied.

Garak sighed. "My dear- I don't know if I've ever met anyone more eager than you to break their very self into pieces."

"Other than yourself, you mean."
