saw someone say they're we're happy Alicent's and Otto's deaths forced them "realize what they had done" and like...
Otto's one thing, I get the animosity. but Alicent? your getting hot and bothered over her realizing she failed, she failed to save her children, she failed to protect them, to them alive? that she tried so hard, so fucking hard, making every hard decision, trying to get between her children and the fate they were damned to by Viserys and Rhaenyra? that she damned her kids, who were already damned to die to begin with, and had to suffer the guilt of them dying to her own hand? that she's going to drive herself mad with grief over her children, her grandchildren?
like... it's not satisfying (especially for show Alicent) watching a woman go so mad with grief it literally kills her because she fought with everything she had to save her children only for them to die anyway. ever since her father's exile, when Rhaenyra's lies took Viserys's favor, when Viserys ignored the Rhaenyra's sons bastardhood at the risk of the whole house, or when Luke took Aemond's eye and Viserys demanded good will; she knew her children's lives were forfeit. then Daemon killed Vaemond and her children's coffins were built, catching cobweb's all the while. she knew and she fought it desperately, taking risk after risk, living in fear until her moment came, she could out Aegon on the thrown, she could protect her kids, maybe, just fucking maybe they'd be safe... only for it to lead to a war that would kill her entire family.
her death, slow and tragic as it was, is heartbreaking. she didn't deserve it, she deserved to feel safe, to feel as though she could allow her past friend take the thrown without her children being at risk to feel as though she and her children weren't being circled by wolves and picked at by vulture's. she didn't deserve to live alone and die alone. she didn't deserve to have her hands coated in her children's blood.

This is a thought I had about God of War Ragnarok that I feel like I've not seen anyone else discuss but has plagued my mind since it ended. Everyone - characters and players alike - seem to forget that Brok accepted his death at Odin's hand.
Let me elaborate.
Brok (and Sindri) built Mjolnir for Thor. He had worked with the Aesir in the past. And, upon seeing the horrible destruction wrought from the hammer, created the Leviathan Axe for Faye. He was also a dwarf, and while we may not know the exact timeline of Asgard's occupation, he is obviously well aware of what Odin did in his home realm - specifically to what happened to dwarves who attempted revolution or other uprising.
The point is, Brok was very aware of what Odin and Asgard were like when he decided to help Kratos and Atreus.
Now, on to Post-Brok's death.
Obviously Sindri is heartbroken, and I cannot blame him for his anger against Atreus and Kratos in any way at this point in time. They were the people who effectively recruited Brok and Sindri into the protagonists' group, and even if the two dwarves were happy to do it, Kratos and Atreus were still the ones who asked them to. Brok's death resulted from that request.
But it was still Brok's informed and willing choice.
To quote Freya from God of War 2018, "I put my needs, my fears before [Baldur's] own." And that feels very much like what Sindri has done with Brok in my opinion.
When Brok originally died in the forge, Sindri saved him but refused to tell Brok what happened and in turn caused their split. When he died a second time by Odin's hand, Sindri came to blame Atreus (and to some extent the others), regardless of Brok's agency and knowledge of what he was getting into. Brok knew that they were heading towards Ragnarok and feasibly their deaths. He obviously didn't want to die, but he openly accepted the risks that came with aiding Atreus.
Sindri placed his own fear of being alone above the desires of Brok to know how he died and to help with Ragnarok.
I should add here that it's one thing for Sindri to blame Atreus initially, because he was grieving the death of his beloved brother and literally about to go to war. I won't blame him for that.
But, given what's been set up in the games, Sindri will probably continue to be antagonistic. And, if he continues to blame Atreus for what happened to Brok - it will draw an interesting parallel to Kratos and Freya in my opinion.
One party blaming the other for the death of a loved one that was partially the blamed person's fault, while the true culprit (Odin in both cases) is left unacknowledged. In the first case, Odin is ignored because Freya could not get to him, but she could get to Kratos and blame him for Baldur's death. In the second case, Odin is already dead by Sindri's own hand, Brok's soul cannot be revived, and Sindri mostly lacks the power to do more that tell Atreus he hates him. There is no satisfying vengeance to Sindri's grief that hasn't already been achieved, which is why I think he'll be an antagonist in the future, since he's obviously still angry.
There's also a side-tangent I could write on - the fact that Sindri was sent to rally the dwarves against Asgard, but chose not to involve them during Ragnarok. Obviously it did successfully keep the dwarves safe, which was Sindri's intention - but it robbed them of their ability to fight for their freedom during Ragnarok (something they probably wanted to do very badly considering the rebellions talked about in the game), which is once again a parallel to Kratos, Freya, and Baldur's death.
We see it in almost every other aspect of the games' story. Atreus and Kratos lying or withholding details from each other - not maliciously, but with the intent to protect in a way that backfires (in both 2018 and Ragnarok). The same with Freya and Baldur (her protection spell driving him insane), and even with Thrud, Thor, and Sif (her mother claiming that Thrud can't be a Valkyrie because Sif is afraid of what Odin will make her do in that role, while Thor encourages it so that she might be strong enough to keep herself safe).
And finally, Sindri claiming that Brok's death was the fault of Atreus despite Brok's informed and willing choice to fight Odin, denying Brok agency over his choice to help, even in death.
A quote Kratos from God of War Ragnarok to sum this whole thing up, "I do not regret saving your life and never will. But the choice between life and death should have been yours to make. I should not have robbed you of that choice."

Just watched the first episode of Loki s2.
THEY'RE SO FUCKING CUTE.
*spoilers*
Mobius is so in love with Loki it's painful. His whole world got turned upside down and the timelines are falling apart. All he cares about is Loki. Even when Loki is basically bouncing off the wall terrified because something bad is coming. Mobius just doesn't care because it isn't important right now. He doesn't immediately start berating Loki about what happened at the end of time. He trusts Loki and cares about him (Sylvie even pointed that out last season).
So after trying to calm Loki down he takes him to OB (who is having a contest with Casey on who can be the most adorable). When they finally get an answer on how to fix the issue they both want to try something else. Loki doesn't want Mobius to lose his skin and Mobius wants the same... and I guess not wanting Loki to die of course. Also the bickering of who has it worse was perfect.
Regardless when the time comes Mobius steps up to the plate without complaint... besides writing "skin?" on a dusty computer and giving a thumbs up. Which was so iconic and I love that for him.
I also desperately need to know what Loki was going to say to Mobius in case he didn't make it. I'm sure he was still thinking about The One Who Remains and Sylvie. He was probably going to tell Mobius to find Sylvie but I need to believe he was going to have a heart-to-heart with Mobius. Maybe talk about fully what happened. All he told Mobius is that Sylvie and he fought, they tied (she won), and that he is coming. Loki is still unsure about the decision he made. He wanted to discuss it with Sylvie but Sylvie had already made her choice and decided to assume the worst of Loki. I think he has a lot of guilt. He either tried to do what he thought was right and would have doomed the timelines if he succeeded in stopping Sylvie or he almost did the right thing but couldn't commit to stopping Sylvie due to wanting a version of himself to be happy thus dooming the timelines. Basically, he's worried that he backed the wrong option and almost ruined everything (either because he believed that a dictator is better than a whole multiverse war or deep down he wanted control of everything) or backed the right option and failed because of his own selfishness.
--okay sorry back to my point. He knows Mobius deserves to know the truth. Hell, he probably wants Mobius to tell him he made the right choice or scold him for being selfish.
So in that moment where Loki may become lost to time (whatever that means. Death? An eternity of solitude, not belonging anywhere?) he apologizes. He admits that he might of fucked up big time and that Mobius was probably wrong to trust him. That maybe Lokis are incapable of doing good even when they're given free will. Maybe he really just wanted the throne.
Mobius is confused by the outburst and has no idea what Loki is even talking about but that doesn't matter right now. He sets his hand on Loki's shoulder immediately shutting the demigod up. A reassuring smile appears on his face.
"Tell me about it when you get back."
Tears well up in Loki's eyes. "But I ruined your life and now you're risking yours to save me. You deserve to know-"
"Know what? You keep forgetting I know everything about you. I wasn't lying when I told you that you could be good. I stole that line from your brother by the way. All you ever needed was someone to believe in you, not a throne. You aren't the same Loki that I met a week ago. You were a God that never questioned his actions because he believed them to always be just. Now you're a man terrified of doing the wrong thing. No matter the fallout we'll figure it out together. First, let's put an end to this whole time-slipping thing... it's honestly making my stomach flip."
Loki is too stunned to speak. It makes no sense. How can two people who know him so well have two different opinions of him? Why does another version of himself believe he can't be trusted while the man who studied every lifetime of every version of Loki trusts Loki with his life (skin?). Loki has to make it make sense. "It bothers you when I am in pain?" He asks still in a haze.
Mobius who had walked away to watch OB work doesn't look up from the control panel. "You're a jackass most of the time but that doesn't mean I enjoy watching you get yanked from past to present."
Loki's own words echo in his mind; 'I just want you to be okay.' The prune stick slips from his hands and clatters to the floor.
Mobius turns his head startled by the noise. "Loki," he notices the tears in Loki's eyes, "what's wrong?"
"I-" Before he can form a sentence a sharp pain shoots across his body as it contorts in ways it shouldn't. As the pain subsides and he gains control of his body he notices his surroundings have changed. Or rather the time has changed. Loki is greeted with an empty dark room.
He looks at the device OB had given him and reality sets in. Pruning stick. His eyes frantically scan the floor for something he left in the present. Of course, it wouldn't be here in the past. As his eyes shoot towards the door something catches his peripheral vision. Something written on the side of a monitor.
Skin?
But that's not possible. Mobius wrote that in the present. It can't be here in the past. Unless he's not in the past. He has never been pulled to the future before. He's running out of time. It's now or never.
Loki runs through the TVA searching for a hunter but only finds empty hallways. The device shakes in his trembling hand. The gage is almost back into the red. He's failed again. He'll never see Mobius again. The old variant of Loki was right; all he does is bring pain and unhappiness everywhere he goes. Glorious purpose, what a cruel joke.
A phone rings close by breaking his trance. With nothing else to do, he slowly makes his way to the odd occurrence.
Then he sees a pair of hands pry open a door. It's Sylvie. Her hair is long and she seems... happy? Emotions again well up in him as their last interaction stings in his mind.
Before Loki can talk he feels an immense pain starting at his back radiate throughout his body. He's felt this exact burning pain before and it isn't the time slipping. For the second time, Loki is pruned while staring at Sylvie. He has no idea who is the responsible party but he doesn't care. All he can do is shut his eyes tightly and pray that the plan works. He wants --no-- he needs to see them again, to make sure they stay safe.
The next thing Loki feels is weightlessness. Is this death? He got pruned too late, right? Surely the universe making him see Sylvie again was punishment.
When he gains the courage to open his eyes he is moving through space at an alarming rate towards someone in a space suit. The person in the suit turns and he sees Mobius and the blast doors closing. Loki swears he sees Mobius smile as the men collide with so much force they are thrown through the doors just as they close.
As they lay on the floor neither are quick to remove their arms from each other. Loki uses one arm to prop himself up slightly while using the other to hold on to Mobius. As he stares at Mobius so many things come to Loki's mind.
I'm glad you're okay.
You still have your skin.
I came back.
Instead of saying any of those things his stomach turns and he remembers Sylvie. "We have to find Sylvie," is all that he can bare. Love is a dagger after all. If he doesn't reach out it can't disappear again.

I have seen the opinion that Mai symbolically means the wrong choice that Zuko made by joining Azula, and the comfort that this "wrong" life can give him (ordering servants, eating pies, not fighting FN imperialism). When Zuko chooses to redeem himself and join the avatar, he becomes a new person and must give up this comfort and Mai as part of this "old life and wrong choice". In addition, his relationship with Mai took place when he was "not himself", when he was trying to become what his father wanted him to be, respectively, Mai did not see his real at that moment. What can you say about it?
Let's get the easy one out of the way: the moment in which Zuko explicitly referred to him as him being Ozai's ideal son, but not being himself, was during the war meeting he in which he did not speak out against his horrible plan to burn the Earth Kingdom down. THAT was the moment in which he felt he was pretending to be something he wasn't, not every scene he spent in the Fire Nation.
And, to make the point even clearer, who was the person he immediately expressed this conflict to after feeling pressured into not being himself? MAI! She was his comfort, his safe-place, the person he didn't have to put on a mask for - HOW can anyone look at that scene and think this means "She doesn't know the real Zuko?" when he is literally proving that he feels fully comfortable being himself in front of her?
As for her supposedly representing the "wrong" choice just because she happened to be in the Fire Nation during his temporary refusal to redeem himself - Zuko was still obsessed with honor after his redemption, still wanted to go back to the Fire Nation, was still very loyal to his nation (he literally said he was trying to SAVE his country, not turning his back on it), and he even ends up becoming Fire Lord even though that was also what was going to happen eventually had he chosen to just let his father take over the world. Why is his relationship with Mai the ONLY THING that needs to be framed as "the wrong choice" when nearly everything else about his life post redemption was EXACTLY like it would have been if he had not changed sides?
Why is Mai considered a factor in this "Temptation That Makes You Evil VS Good, Moral, Correct Choice" dilema, when the two characters that were constantly shown as Zuko's shoulder devil and shoulder angel - or rather, the blue dragon and the red dragon - were Azula and Iroh? (*repeats to self* must not turn this into a zucest post, must not turn this into a zucest p-AZULA REPRESENTS TEMPTATION IN HIS HEAD, OH MY G-)
*clears throat* Sorry, about that.
Even then, Iroh WAS making a big mistake by ignoring Zuko's feelings on the matter of just staying in Ba Sing Se forever (he explictly asks Iroh if he has not considered that the wants more in life than just a job and appartment), and AT NO POINT had the option to join forces with the Avatar ever been discussed - and honestly I doubt Zuko would have ever accepted it at the point in the story, regardless of Azula giving him the choice to come home.
And yes, she gave him a CHOICE, and that's why Zuko's arc worked. He spent weeks allowed to have the life he had always wanted, and he would have been able to keep it... as long as he chose to let innocent people die. He was tempted, but in the end did the right thing, and because of the weeks he spent in the Fire Nation, we SEE everything he is giving up on, because before that we had only seen the bad moments, like his abuse at the hands of his father, not him being a beloved prince, having a (mostly) okay relationship with Azula, no longer having to resort to desperate measures to not starve, having the comfort of knowing he'd always have a roof over his head - and yes, being happy and in love with a girl that was a lot like him.
The point of showing us how much he is sacrificing is not to say "Zuko will be better off without those things", but rather to make us cheer for him when he manages to get it all back against all odds, this time with a clear conscience.
Also, let's pretend Mai WAS the person representing "bad choice, bad idea, bad girlfriend" like Zutarians claim - HOW does that immediately translate to "Katara is the right choice" when her love interest is someone else AND she was in no way a factor in Zuko's decision to leave the Fire Nation? Who is to say some other girl wouldn't be "the one"? Why is Katara seen as the ONLY option even though they've barely interacted at that point, and EVERY SINGLE TIME it ended badly?
Zutarians can claim care about Zuko's arc and to be the ''feminist" shippers until they're blue in the face, the absurd takes they come up with for the sole reason of pitting two female characters against each other, with one being almost completely demonized FOR NO REASON, and the other being seen as perfect because of what she supposedly can offer to a guy and not because of her actual personality, just reeks of misogyny.

The Jedi were evil all along!
I debated replying to the thread I saw condemning the Jedi as "rigid" and implying they weren't that different from the Sith, but I would have been the only voice of dissent and given that one of the replies was from a Red Hat Cultist veering off on a frothy anti-Obama rant, I figured it was safer to just make my own post.
Look, no one is saying the Jedi are perfect, but they sure as fuck aren't evil, either. If you're basing your entire opinion on the thoughts and experiences of one individual then your view is incredibly flawed and you should maybe think outside the narrow hole you've dug for yourself.
From what I can tell, some of the worst critics of the Jedi seem to be fans of Anakin Skywalker. Or at least a carefully curated version of Anakin who was a perpetual victim and never did anything wrong. It seems to boil down to "if the Jedi had just let Anakin be openly married to Padmè, nothing bad would have happened!" Which is... certainly a take.
The one argument I see trumpeted over and over (and over) again is that the Jedi prohibition against "attachment" is terrible and wrong and makes them no better than the Sith. This hinges almost entirely on the idea that "attachment" is the same thing as "love."
It isn't. Fans have spent decades explaining why it isn't only to have their reasoning mostly ignored in favor of the more angsty/tragic idea that the Jedi were forbidden to love. 🙄
"Attachment," IMO, can best be summed up as a literal interpretation of this ever-popular gif:
Tumblr media
[img: Rosa from Brooklyn 99. She's holding a small yellow lab puppy as she says, "I've only had Arlo for a day and a half, but if anything happened to him I would kill everyone in this room and then myself."]
Anakin has, admittedly, "had" Padmè for three years instead of a day and a half, but when he thought she was going to die, he killed everyone in the Temple, then killed her, and then continued on a murderous rampage for the next 19 years or so.
"Attachment" is dangerous for anyone, but especially for someone like Anakin, who has additional powers at his command, rigorous training in how to use them, and three years experience as a war leader.
Personally, I also have questions about whether or not marriage is actually forbidden among the Jedi or if Anakin just assumed it was because "attachment." I can see it not being a common thing, and I can also understand a relationship coming under scrutiny to insure that it's a healthy form of love that won't interfere with a Jedi's ability to do their job, but it wouldn't surprise me if Anakin never looked into it because it would mean "sharing" Padmè with others.
Even if marriage wasn't allowed as a whole formal, legalized thing it doesn't mean Jedi can't form relationships. It would, as usual with the Jedi, be about balance. Can someone balance their personal relationship with their commitments to the Order? Can they set their loved one aside to do what must be done? Or will they drop everything to immediately rush to their loved one's side regardless of the risk to others?
We all know what Anakin would do; we've seen it with our own eyes.
The point is, condemning the entire Jedi Order because they didn't give Anakin everything he wanted, when he wanted it, and without question is a little bit of a stretch. Plus, all jokes about his inability to keep a secret aside, it isn't as if he ever went to them to discuss things.
"Well, he didn't think he could trust them because they hated him!" Uh, no, they decidedly didn't hate him, he just believed they did. It all hinges on his beliefs, not reality. And while you could certainly blame Palpatine for reinforcing his beliefs that the Jedi can't be trusted and that everyone hates/is jealous of him, it isn't as if Palps made that up out of thin air: he built on the seeds already within Anakin.
"That's because the Jedi-" No. Insecurities are rarely rational, and while you can argue that the Jedi "didn't do enough" to help Anakin, there are a few salient points to remember:
Anakin isn't the only Jedi in the Order; they have thousands of people to consider.
You have to know there's a problem in order to help.
The person has to be willing to accept that help in order for things to change.
The last two points also apply to those who would condemn Obi-Wan in particular. He has to KNOW a problem exists and then he has to talk his way around to try and get Anakin to accept his help. I know from personal experience just how heartbreakingly difficult it is to help a loved one when they won't admit there's a problem or they won't listen to your advice.
I can think of a lot of ideas that would be fun to experiment with in terms of making changes to the Jedi Order, but most of them involve adding more distance from the Senate and none of them are about catering to the specific (perceived) needs of one Jedi.

In a universe where Rhaegar wins and Jon becomes a Targaryen prince, how do you think the family dynamics will be between the siblings + Rhaegar/Lyanna/Elia? Really interested in your opinion on this
Um. Bad?
aksjdjdj. The last blackfyre rebellion wasn’t that long ago not to mention Egg wasn’t too fond of Brynden so I think in general, Westeros is just incredibly wary of boy bastards who are castle raised. And even if Rhaegar does some plural marriage stuff, I do think there will be some bastard stigma still attached to Jon regardless.
Bigamy has not been done by the Targaryens since Maegor the Cruel. THE CRUEL. Not a great precedent here.
The last Targaryen who worshiped the old gods was Bloodraven, which is again, not a super great precedent to be invoking.
The Faith is in general pretty shitty about bigamy.
There were rumors that Daemon Blackfyre wanted to do some old school Valyrian stuff like marry Daenerys, take a second bride, etc., and considering all that shit went, once again, bringing to mind Daemmy B. is just a colossally bad idea
Also, “winning” in this situation means Rhaegar has at minimum killed Robert & Jon Arryn, and sent Ned to the Wall (but honestly probably offed him too), and Lyanna has walked into a situation where almost her entire family was killed by Rhaegar’s. Benjen is probably feeling some type of way. Storm’s End is probably still in a siege, because even after Robert dies, I simply cannot see Stannis giving up, because he simply has to trust that they won’t slaughter him and Renly for rebelling and he's not going to trust in that after Aerys and Rhaegar murdered so many Lords without a good reason. Jaime has killed Aerys (but protected Elia & the babies). Elia has spent months as a hostage, only for Rhaegar to come back MARRIED AGAIN with ANOTHER SON.
it’s a mess. an a tricky, unsure situation. rhaegar winning the war doesn’t mean the kingdom is back together. this one is so much different than the blackfyres or the dance because people had real, legit concerns with his father beyond succession or "but I wanna be king wahh!" rhaegar (and rhaella!) completely blow past those very rational, legitimate fears just to say “we’re in charge bitch.” it’s going to make for a very unhappy populace and a very uneasy peace. it’s going to make the situation between his children incredibly tense & toxic. So…..
I get stuck here a bit. Lyanna IS a child and not at fault for anything that happens and I will die on that hill with my head held high but the rest of the realm will not see it that way. I’m unsure if Elia would either. I would like to think they’d have a similar relationship that Naerys & Melly Blackwood had, wherein Naerys doesn’t hold it against Melly that her father sold her virginity to the King because Melly is kind to her (and probably fairly young) and Melly grows fond of the sad, sickly, sweet Queen that is just trying to survive the humiliation being heaped onto her. But this is a different situation - Lyanna isn’t a mistress, she’s a wife. An equal. Her son, like Maegor, like Aegon II, like Jacaerys, is a tiny bit of a threat to Elia’s. While fostering love & acceptance between the three is the ONLY correct and moral choice, I don’t know how likely it is. Rhaegar has a lot to deal with, and since Jon is not Visenya, I think Rhaegar probably feels a bit duped - he did everything right to have his third head of the dragon and yet he was given a boy that looks nothing like him. Lyanna probably feels very alone. Elia feels incredibly betrayed and bitter. And there’s likely a large Dornish faction at court pushing Lyanna out in this scenario because I’m not totally sure how the North is going to react to all this, so I don’t know if Benjen sends a Northern faction down South to look after her or just washes his hands of the whole thing (would Rhaegar even allow them at court after half the Starks were in open rebellion? What does court look like in the face of a justified rebellion that is snuffed out?).
Anyways, I think even best case scenario, this is a really fucked up situation that is going to lead to a lot of strife. My money is on Lyanna and Jon spending most of their time on Dragonstone or straight up holed up in their own separate apartments, away from Court and trying to lay low. I think they’d be heavily traumatized, and have terrible attachment issues probably on par with Rhaenyra/Aegon. I think Elia becomes close with Jaime because of the incredible risk he took trying to protect her, and since Tywin doesn’t sack the city, I think there’s a not unlikely chance Elia tries to bring the Martells closer to the Lannisters politically because of it. Tywin & Cersei probably won’t like that but I think Tyrion might fare a bit better if Elia sees use in befriending Jaime’s little brother and the technical heir to Casterly Rock (and i’m not saying dorne is a egalitarian, no ableism paradise - oberyn in my opinion steps over the line with tyrion - but considering the use of a wheelchair for Doran and the comments about Elia being not to healthy, I think they’re a little more accommodating of disability, which means Elia is simply pragmatic enough to look at Tyrion and see an opportunity. I think).
Elia, Rhaenys, and Aegon come out of things fine. Elia looks after Viserys and Daenerys and probably they come out better. But Lyanna and Jon are in their worst case scenario here without Ned to protect them and with Jon as a threat to Aegon's claim. So what I want to say is that Elia sees this as a Naerys/Melly situation and takes Lyanna under her wing, protecting her from the whispers at court about how she's a grasping, upjumped whore who worships strange, silent gods. She would take in Jon (probably called Aemon) and encourage a closeness between the three children, comforting Jon when he feels out of place by pointing out that Rhaenys also doesn't look like a Targaryen. That Elia would caution forgiveness for Lyanna's sake, and encourage Rhaegar to have a Northern faction at court to support Lyanna - even if it's literally just a handful of ladies and knights to remind her of home - and to forgive Stannis and Renly, to name Stannis as Lord of Storm's End and make promises of peace, that Aerys had stepped over the line and Rhaegar has taken a wife from the North and a wife from Dorne to ensure that doesn't happen again, that they will call a Great Council to discuss together perhaps having a larger small council that can counteract the King.
But I think in reality it's likely that Elia attempts to freeze Lyanna and Jon out and they are both perfectly happy sticking to Dragonstone and ignoring everyone.

hey you've been posting a concerning amount of zionist stuff recently, including misinformation. as a leftist you should know that reform of a tool of colonization (the state) is not possible. i implore you to please reflect on why you want a jewish state to exist so badly and where this desire may be coming from, including ways you may have been lied to. i mean this in the most compassionate way possible ❤️ take care
First off. Suck my taint and balls.
Now that that’s out of the way.
If you have issue with any specific thing I post, you are welcome to come and talk to me about that in particular. That being said, I fail to see where I have done that. I have consistently shared things that criticize the state of Israel, it’s founding, and it’s current policies. I have consistently shared information about the death toll in Gaza. I have consistently criticized calls to whitewash what is happening in Gaza, that is, a genocide. If I have not done this on here, I have done so to friends and loved ones.
But what I have also shared on here is a consistent condemnation of the left’s blatant antisemitism during this time. I have shared my deep feelings of betrayal and anger at the left. My anger and betrayal at seeing my friends families die and having the leftist movements I thought would bring peace and equality call it good. My anger at seeing all Jews and Israelis lumped under one umbrella of ‘unequivocally evil.’ My anger at seeing the double standards of people calling for the murder of Israeli civilians because they’re colonists while standing on the most genocidal nation on the planet. That is what ive been consistently calling out against on here. What ive reblogged is not a call for Zionism, but an outcry against leftist antisemitism and a call for nuance regarding the people of Israel. If that makes me a zionist regardless of what I actually believe in, so be it.
Also. You don’t get to tell me to ‘please reflect on why you want a Jewish state to exist so badly’ while also conflating my attacks on antisemitism as Zionism (I’m assuming you mean political Zionism as in support for the current state of Israel here, if we’re talking religious Zionism or a belief that Jews deserve to have self determination on our ancestral homeland, that kind of Zionism, then that’s a different issue altogether and I would say being against that is antisemitic.) You don’t get to ask Jews why they might be sympathetic to the idea of a Jewish state while also saying ‘there is no war in ba sing se’ to antisemitism in radical politics. A Jewish family was killed in Los Ángeles. A synagogue president was murdered in Detroit. I had someone say to my face that it was good that my friends families were murdered by Hamas. 51% of gen z agrees with what Hamas did. 62% believes Hamas’ actions were genocidal. The law school I wanted to attend has ‘kill Jews’ graffitid in the hall. Jews are afraid. I’m afraid. I study history, and I know where this type of ideology goes. Is it not understandable that some of us might become more willing to believe in a Jewish state (regardless of our feelings on the current state of Israel) given the attitudes we’re seeing?
You don’t get to come in here with a paternalistic, condescending attitude to talk down to me about the very real fears I’m having. This is likely affecting me far more than you. I almost certainly know more than you about what’s going on, I’ve been researching this conflict for years. How dare you treat me like a stupid fucking child who doesn’t know what they’re doing or supporting or reading. How dare you treat me like my fears are not based in lived reality. How dare you talk down to me like this. Fuck you.
My friends and my partner know where I stand on this, including all the nuances and fears and how much I’ve wrestled over this and how I still don’t have a good answer. But I don’t have the privilege of being idealistic here. My opinion on what to do after the ceasefire and return of the hostages is nuanced, complex, pained. It has to be. I don’t have any other choice, I’m not able to sit on an ivory tower and decide what’s best. I’m actually living it. If you decide to look at what I’ve been saying and believe I’m zionist, so be it. It’s not my job to explain myself fully to some anon lol
Anyways, listen to Jews and Arabs. We know more than you.

Note
sorry if you wrote about this prior, but reading into the undying in harpocrates' lore entries had me thinking: do you believe elwin knew about the undying, and if so, how did he feel about them? their completely selfless devotion to the phoenix / how they're not unlike a cult / did he interact with them personally or only hear of them ?
!!! I actually haven't written about this before! It wasn't until recently that I learned about the Undying at all, since I've been lagging behind with regards to progressing through the game. (Oops.)
Because of the fact that there might be more information about them that I don't know as of yet, take this answer with a grain or two of salt. I'll happily amend it, though, if I end up needing to!
Going to put this under a Read More, because spoilery goodness.
I do believe that Elwin knew about them! Strictly basing this on my headcanons, Elwin served as his father's Shield during his father's time on the throne and as Phoenix's Dominant. While the Undying serve the bearer of Phoenix specifically, given Phoenix's Dominant's closeness with their appointed Shield, it'd be highly unlikely in my opinion that even if the rest of the reigning Rosalith family didn't know of their existence, Phoenix's Shield would have to. I wouldn't be surprised if, in times of crisis in particular, there were even instances of the Shield and the members of the Undying coordinating their protective efforts on behalf of Phoenix's Dominant.
The fact that it was supposed to be Joshua on the throne also plays a part in why I think this, too. The only reason why Elwin is acting as Archduke after his father's unexpected passing, despite not being Phoenix's Dominant himself, is because at the time that Elwin took the throne, another Dominant had yet to awaken, and Elwin happened to be his father's firstborn. He was just warming the seat, so to speak, until Joshua was old enough to take over and rule, at which point he was going to step down on Joshua's behalf.
Given that it was Elwin's duty to guide Joshua into his eventual role as Archduke, as well as being Phoenix's Dominant, I'd imagine he had at least some interactions with the Undying on behalf of Joshua, to set the stage for his youngest son's eventual takeover. I'm shit at explaining, so I hope this makes even a tiny bit of sense LOL.
Elwin's feelings towards them were probably mixed. On one hand, he'd be grateful to them for aiding in protecting Joshua, since Clive is still so young at the time, too. On the other hand, Elwin isn't the type of person not to lament when others throw their lives away, regardless of how noble the cause is. (Not to say that he doesn't appreciate it; he does, it's just a case of "People dying is always sad and it sucks that it has to come to that in the world that they live in where war is often around the corner and the Dominants are used as tools of war.") Even worse, he knew that if Joshua knew that these people were willing to, or do, die for his Eikon, Joshua would be guilt-ridden and possibly even devastated. He's still a child, after all -- that is a really heavy weight for a little kid to have to carry.

cw this post is about people acting like freaks about the heard/depp defamation case and involves ableism, misogyny, biphobia. feel free 2 rb if you so desire but please also feel more than free to scroll past if you're as sick of hearing about it as i am
i have no personal opinion on the depp/heard situation because refuse to look into it enough to actually learn the facts of the case. but the way people are talking about heard in particular in a very gendered "she's a mentally ill bitch of course she's making it all up" way is really truly disgusting. like if she is lying and depp really was abused by her and not the other way around then ok, again i literally do not know, but once you start throwing mentally ill people under the bus and calling women crazy lying cunts and being like "as if that would ever happen 🤣" when they talk about the details of their alleged abuse i think you're just an ableist misogynist and you need to get pushed off a cliff like asap.
like im not surprised by any of it but i am so enraged and saddened by all the people being like "she was diagnosed with BPD and people with BPD are ABUSIVE CONTROL FREAKS" and "she's histrionic which for those who don't know is basically SEVERE NARCISSISM they are psychotic manipulators let this be a lesson to stay AWAY from these people they're EVIL" "she's definitely a sociopath narcissist that's why she abused him i was in a relationship with a narcissist and-" like god shut the fuck uppppp. i hate every single one of you ableist fucking losers all these disorders people are attributing to her (regardless of if she has them or not, i do not know) are already so uniquely stigmatized and im genuinely worried this whole shitshow will exacerbate the problem and make things even worse.
also the way people are talking about her fucking facial expressions like "no real abuse victim would ever act like that" "if she was really abused she wouldn't have to fake cry" as if people haven't been using that against abuse victims for fucking???? forever????? because people have these preconceived notions of how we should feel and behave and speak and whether or not we're taken seriously is so often hinged on how well we live up to these notions. which, yes, sometimes does actually mean FAKING CERTAIN EMOTIONS. i have literally done this myself. it's not something only liars and abusers do. if the evidence shows that she abused him then thats literally all anyone should need. rely on the actual facts of the case, whatever they may be. do not be dragging survivors everywhere through the mud because you're a fucking freak who wants to police our expressions and feelings and tone thanks die
(see also: "if she was abused by him why would she still proposition him for sex/want to cuddle with him/etc?" it actually happens all the time. shut the fuck up)
ok and i don't think there's any reason to go very far into the sexist rhetoric on both sides because anyone with even a single tiny sliver of a brain would be able to see how horrible it is so moving on from that. the fact that ive seen people be like "poor johnny.... she's bisexual so she probably cheated on him too 🤣" ummmm once again. die. like fr. i hate you
again i cannot state clearly enough this is not a reflection of my opinion on who is guilty or whatever. i do not know because i haven't looked closely into the case. but despite my best efforts i still have been exposed to it and i think its inexcusable that people are treating it like a fandom war and whipping out like every possible form of bigotry to justify which "team" they're on. and im really genuinely worried for the damage this is going to do to the public's perception of abuse/mental illness/etc which is especially worrying because we were already so fucked up in all of those arenas and we really do not need things to get worse.

here we go can I get a Goddamn timpani roll to start this Goddamn song?! tonight, here's a Goddamn song for all you Goddamn people...
well, the animals laugh from the dark of the wilderness a baby cries hard in an apartment complex as I pass in a car buried under the influence the city's driving me out of my mind I've seen a child, he's caught in the sad trap of gravity he falls from the lowest branch of the apple tree & lands in the grass & weeps for his dignity next time he will not aim so high yeah, next time, neither will I
now, a mother takes loans out, sends her kids off to colleges her family's reduced to names on a shopping list while a coroner kneels beneath a great wooden crucifix he knows there's worse things than being alone & so I've learned to retreat at the first sign of danger I mean why wait around if it's just to surrender? & ambition, I've found, can lead only to failure I do not read the reviews no, I am not singing for you
well, I stood dropping a coin into the pit of a well & I would throw my whole billfold if I thought it would help with all these wishes I make, I should buy something real at least a telephone call home well my teachers, they built this retaining wall of memory all those multiple choices I answered so quickly & got my grades back & forgot just as easily but at least I got an A & so I don't have them to blame
well I should stop pointing fingers, reserve my judgment for all those public action figures, the cowboy presidents so loud behind the bullhorn, so proud they can't admit when they've made a mistake while poisoned ink spews from a speechwriter's pen he knows he don't have to say it, so it don't bother him "honesty", "accuracy" is just popular opinion & the approval rating's high so someone's gonna die
well, ABC, NBC, CBS: bullshit! they give us fact or fiction? I guess an even split & each new act of war is tonight's entertainment we're still the pawns in their game as they take eye for an eye until no one can see we must stumble blindly forward, repeating history well I guess we all fit into your slogan on that fast food marquee: red-blooded, white-skinned, oh, & the blues! oh, & the blues, I got the blues! that's me!
well, I awoke in relief, my sheets & tubes were all tangled weak from whiskey & pills in a Chicago hospital & my father was there in a chair by the window, staring so far away I tried talking, just whispered, "so sorry, so selfish..." he stopped me & said, "child, I love you regardless & there's nothing you could do that would ever change this I'm not angry, it happens but you just can't do it again"
so now I try to keep up, I've been exchanging my currency while a million objects pass through my periphery now I'm rubbing my eyes cause they're starting to bother me I've been staring too long at the screen but where was it when I first heard that sweet sound of humility? it came to my ears in the Goddamn loveliest melody how grateful I was, then, to be part of the mystery to love & to be loved let's just hope that is enough

I saw this take on twitter about Hana & Kacchan having “reverse parallels” and since they both have apologised to Tenko/Deku (but one was more or less sincere and the other was absolutely sincere) and they said that, while Hana moved away from Tenko, Kacchan ran to catch Deku. There was also more to the thread abt Kacchan & Hana’s differences. They were sorta trying to argue that this is a clue that Hori intends for Bkdk to be sibling-like/brotherly. As a bkdk shipped, I’ve accepted that it makes sense.. cause it’s an established fact that Tenko & Deku parallel each other. Tenko having his own “Kacchan” makes sense. Tho yes I am a little sad since I’ve held a little bit of hope for romantic bkdk becoming canon. I just wanted to ask your opinion if Hana was really meant to foil Kacchan or was it just a reach?
okay so I have a couple responses to this.
1. while it's true that Horikoshi has woven a lot of deliberate parallels between Deku and Tenko's characters, that doesn't mean every single thing about their lives and every single person they interact with is a part of those parallels. which is to say that no, I don't really think Hana and Kacchan are meant to mirror each other in any kind of significant way. Hana's apology to Tenko was under completely different circumstances than Kacchan's apology to Deku; I really don't see any connection between the two situations. you might as well be trying to compare Hana to Endeavor, or Deku, or Hawks, or Aizawa, or any other character who's apologized to anyone over the course of the story.
2. please pardon the forthcoming rant, anon -- and I hope you know that none of this is aimed at you in particular -- but for me personally, this whole obsession with ships becoming canon is one of the most exasperating types of discourse there is. like, don't get me wrong, I totally understand people wanting to see their favorite ships validated by the author, and not to mention there's also the issue of having more LGBTQ+ representation. but speaking as someone whose own orientation (aromantic) has almost no representation in fiction whatsoever, it gets frustrating to see so many people dismiss non-romantic relationships as being an inferior type of ship, to the extent that calling a relationship "sibling-like" is now a commonly-used attack in ship wars. so many people view romance as this completely transformative element, to the point where two characters can literally tick every other box on the intimate personal relationship checklist, and none of it will matter to some people unless they actually confess their love and kiss.
and again, I'm not saying I don't understand it, especially since queerbating is a thing. it's one thing if a writer is genuinely just trying to portray a close friendship, especially in series where romance isn't really a focus. but it's another thing entirely if a writer is deliberately hinting at a romance in a blatant bid to attract a larger queer audience, while all the while having no intention whatsoever of having those hints lead anywhere. the issue, I guess, is that it's not always easy to tell which scenarios are the former, and which are the latter. and of course, you also have people who think that the former is a type of cop-out as well, because the thing is that romance is always viewed as the default. so for a lot of people, allosexual and alloromantic relationships are the only ones that get considered as far as representation goes.
but you know what, I'm just gonna say it; even knowing where people are coming from, it's still discouraging to know that so many people are so dismissive of aro and ace relationships that the thought of a favorite ship not becoming romantic in canon is considered a profound disappointment. and it's even more discouraging that the thought of a rival ship becoming canon is considered such an existential threat to some that they will literally use "oh, they're just like siblings" as an argument against the ship, rather than a point in favor of. because siblings are a downgrade. friendship is a downgrade. any kind of close relationship that isn't inherently romantic or sexual in nature is less important, and that's just how it is.
so yeah, that's kind of a pet peeve, ngl. especially since the truth is I actually do think Bakugou and Deku's relationship is very akin to siblings. and so I do sometimes get weary of not being able to just outright say that without having to first pepper the statement with all kinds of disclaimers so that people don't think I'm invalidating the ship. I feel like I have to walk on eggshells if I ever want to talk about their relationship in terms that I can personally relate to.
but I mean, here's how I look at it. they've known each other since they were small children. they call each other exclusively (or almost exclusively) by childhood nicknames. they have an openness and an unspoken, almost taken-for-granted trust in each other to the point where they'll share closely guarded secrets ("I got my quirk from someone else") and personal vulnerabilities ("why was I the one who ended All Might?") with barely a second's hesitation which they would never share with anyone else. they have a comfortable little bickering type of rapport ("I'm getting stronger"; "well I'll just have to get even stronger then"; "you'll never surpass me"; "we'll see about that") which they can fall into with ease and which looks weird af to outsiders, but is "normal" to them and something they're both grateful to have.
they're so intimately familiar with each other's personality and behaviors that they can predict them with perfect accuracy. they're so in tune with each other that they can whip up elaborate coordinated attacks right on the spot in perfect sync. their admiration for each other is so strong that they each think of the other as being the epitome of winning and saving, respectively. their mental images of each other are so vivid that they subconsciously mimic each other's speech patterns whenever they start falling into a particularly strong Win or Save mindset themselves. they take no small amount of pride in showing off for each other. they go apeshit any time the other is in danger or hurt. and each of them would literally die for the other if it ever came to that.
all of that is already canon. on just about every metric imaginable except for "now kiss", the two of them already have a canon intimacy that rivals just about every other great relationship out there. and so to say that none of it actually counts unless there's an actual love confession involved frankly just boggles me. again, maybe it's because I have no personal vested interest in romance myself, though. I'm literally just not wired that way, and so I'm really not the best person to vent to when it comes to these kinds of concerns.
but look, no matter what happens from here on out, these two care about each other on a very deep and personal level. they're going to continue to be a part of each other's lives no matter what. and each of them, no matter what, will continue to occupy a space in each other's lives that no other person can fill, regardless of how we or Horikoshi or anyone else choose to label and define that space. and so in my book, that's already a win.
anyways, apologies again for the impromptu rant. again, this wasn't particularly directed at you in any way; if anything it's mostly just a generic response to the constant shipping discourse in this and every other fandom, and a more detailed explanation for why I personally don't like to get involved in it. this is just one of the myriad reasons why I try my best to stay very far away from BnHA twitter lol.

I'm so torn. On the one hand, red flags, red flags everywhere. On the other hand, I feel like I owe it to someone I victimized to make their trauma easier to live with. In order: I kidnapped him, raped him (repeatedly, for 3 years), left him in frozen wilderness to die, and started a war that I had been forewarned would end the world (and it did). He's not wrong when he says I hurt him, and I *do* want him to feel better. But there's a lot of guilt-tripping going on and also I'm broke... help?
With that clarification, if it helps to hear it from an outside source, let me ease your mind: it sounds like you are absolutely being taken advantage of, and you are not obligated to do this thing you are being told you need to do, and in fact if a lot of what I wrote in that post sounds like your situation like you imply here, I would honestly recommend you cut them off completely.
The list of crimes doesn't matter to me, frankly - things that happened in another life were in another life. You were a different person. This you has no control over what that you did. If we really want to be cutthroat about it, there isn't even any actual evidence that you actually did these things to this person; even if they're being honest and they really do remember these things, for all you know it wasn't actually you and it was another "version" of you who just happens to resemble you strongly enough for you two to be confused. But even if we assume it was - in my opinion, trying to blame people for something entirely out of their control, especially when they are very literally an entirely different person now, is bluntly both stupid and pointless. It's the same reason it's generally considered bad form to act like being fictionkin of a villain character is morally wrong, or to ban people from your server based solely on their kintype/fictotype.
So, no. If you want my opinion, my opinion is that you are absolutely not obligated to give someone money because they claim you victimized them in a past life, even if you think they're being honest with you about it - and frankly, without knowing the details of how y'all determined you share a past life, I'm inclined to be skeptical. Getting money out of someone is a pretty good reason to spin a lie about that, and as someone in the tags on the last post pointed out, it's really weird for someone to knowingly reach out to/stay in contact with a past abuser, though there may be an explanation for that in the context that I don't know (like if you knew each other before awakening or something).
And guilt-tripping you about it now is shitty and manipulative behavior on their part regardless, full stop. That's preventable harm that's happening right here and right now - that takes precedent, in my morality structure. Trauma does not give you the right to hurt and manipulate other people. Especially not when you can't even really be 100% sure that the person you're hurting is actually the person who hurt you. No one deserves to be abused - they didn't, but neither do you.
All of this goes double if you're broke and struggling to afford it; that's financial harm on top of mental/emotional harm. If you really want to help him because you feel it's the right thing to do, you can do that when you're financially stable and your wellbeing isn't on the line. You have to put your own oxygen mask on before you help others with theirs. You cannot serve from an empty cup.

Talk to me about narratomancy? Just whatever you want to talk about it I'm deathly interested
!!!! Today today i had so many Thoughts. To many. It almost rivals March 2020 thoughts
So
My current running names for the four pillars of Narratomancy are as follows:
Universal Story
Narrative Role Filling/Casting Call
Story Echoes
Narrative Flow/Narrative Imperative
Each of these refer to VERY different things within the concept of Narratomancy. I will do my best to describe them. I have coined every term here but narratomancy, to which I believe the honor falls to @lucky-sevens
Keep in mind this is 50% theory, 20% headcanon, 30% canon, and that you do not have to agree with me.
Universal Story
Universal Story refers to the story of the universe, not stories in the universe, the story of the universe. In other words, the story of ‘Dr. Carmilla & The Mechanisms’
This section of Narratomancy is a tad more meta than the others, as it does in some form rely on real-world events to define it, as well as having little to no in story inpact on anything. Maki created the mechanisms universe, clear and simple. She founded the band, and hashed out the earliest lore. Dr. Carmilla is the main character of the universe, not of all the stories, but of the universe. Essentially, Universal Story refers to the fact that Doc C is the main character of the universe, and that the mechanisms are her side characters, in the story of the universe. I have taken to viewing it as doc carmilla stuff is the story of the universe, and the mechanisms is a spin off of that. Both are just as canon, but not specifically canon to eachother. Regardless, the universes story is Carmilla, from starting on Terra, to Aurora, through Loreli, into creating The Mechansims, all of that. All of that is the story of The Universe. The Mechanisms backstories are included in this, of course, because they are part of Carmilla's tale, not the other way around. Through this, I conclude that The Mechanisms are a spin off, focusing on the mechs rather than Carmilla. After all, The Mechansisms are a vessel for telling stories, for fleshing out the universe.
Narrative Role Filling/Casting Call
This refers to the mechs penchant for falling into narrative roles similar to troupes that they represent, or basically acting as a crutch for a story to continue. In OUATIS, Jonny acts as The Prince figure in sleeping beauty. He saves Briar. In being The Prince, he allows Snow's forces to attack cole, and win the war. Without that whole escapade, its likely the war would have stretched on years longer, and not have ended as it did.
Or, Ashes as Hades. What do mythological Hades and Ashes have in common? Hades was eaten by his father, Kronos, because there was a prophesy that told Kronos that his children would usurp him as king of the titans. Ashes figured out Mickey was the snitch, Mickey realized beforehand and lead Ashes into a trap. Killing them because he knew that they could ruin him. Basically, a parental figure betrays the child figure due to them knowing the child could ruin/destroy their position of power. As well as, if Ashes were not Hades, the Suits would not have met, and because of that the story of Ulysses Dies At Dawn would not have happened.
Continuing, while I am not nearly as much of an Arthurian legend person as I am a greek mythology person, some quick google searches revealed a similar similarity between Merlin and Brian. Basically, Merlin and the lady of the lake. She was basically his apprentice/a lady he was in love with? She basically betrayed and killed him after learning all out magic from him. Brian brought a priest back to life, only to have the priest betray and kill him. The tying together point here is clearly the "someone you helped betrays and kills you." That or, the fact they are both magical. Beyond this, If Brian were not on Fort Galfridian, Galahad would never have sought out the grail, and the entire plot would not have occurred.
In The Bifrost Incident, the Mechanisms do not take narrative roles in the way they did in prior albums. But this does not exclude them from being vital points in the story, after all, if Ivy were not present Lyf would not have been able to recover the data on the Black Box)
In all of these situations, (barring Jonny as The Prince) the Mechanisms have had some sort of connection point in the Roles they assume, as well as in their roles, changing the story so that it can continue to the ending presented in the albums.
Story Echoes
Story echoes are, to be blatant, simply canon. No argument, no theorizing, just canon. Refers to the fact that in the mechanism's universe stories 'echo' or basically repeat. In Kofi's fiction for HNOC, its shown rather blatantly that there are more Arthurs in this universe than just the one in hnoc.
In those burning instants, he’d feel the weight of it all, and know it was true. The golden age that never came; the city that stood at the dawn of a world instead of in its dying embers. And beyond – to a myriad of Camelots and a thousand thousand Arthurs, unfathomable worlds apart, each different, each fighting the same hopeless battle.
I know there are other examples of this, but they do escape me right now.
Lastly,
Narrative Flow/Narrative Imperative
This one is also directly canon. On the mechanisms blog, this post defines it rather well.
In the ask, the asker asks "...Do you heal injuries at an abnormal rate, or can you not be injured?"
In the reply, it is stated.
It depends on the narrative imperative - sometimes a Mechanism might die for a while, and only come back later when it becomes more fun, other times they’ll just heal/ignore wounds as they take them. It’s not something they can control, but tends to follow a rough logic of whatever works best for the story.
This is just canon, no arguing or stating otherwise. A mechanisms ability to heal depends entirely on what's best for the story.
Other examples in canon where this comes into play would be as follows:
GPTVTMK. In gptvtmk, Jonny's severed head is there. Is talks. It moves. In one of the fictions, it's stated Jonny cannot separate his heart from his body. Therefore, these are contradictory. Under normal circumstances, this would be a plothole. It is not here. Under narratomancy, Jonny was capable of being a severed head due to the fact that that would be best for the story.
OUATIS. Jonny walks through rounds and rounds of bullets.
HNOC. This example is a bit different from the rest, as it is not about a Mechanism. Galahad does something pretty fucking impossible.
And so Galahad stood and walked into the corridor. The guns trained on the preacher and opened fire.
Say what you want about faith, but it can have powerful effects on those that have it. It can keep you from faltering as the bullets start to slam into you. It can keep you walking as your legs are shot to bloody stumps. It can keep you laughing as your lungs are filled with shrapnel and lead. It can keep you smiling as half your face is blown away. It can keep a man like Galahad standing tall until the guns clicked dry.
It is my belief that this is another example of narrative imperative. Under normal rules, Galahad could never have done this. But his faith, his beleif, kept him going. And that was good for the story.
So. That wraps up my narratomancy ramble for today. hope yall enjoyed.
*EDIT: Nastya does say it's nanobots. My opinion is: it's both. The nanobots are narrative driven <3

What if WWX succeeded in killing WR instead?
Ohhhh this is good. This is really good.
I’m mixing a bit of CQL here, but only in terms of Wen Ruohan choking Wei Wuxian.
But hmm, I don’t think much would change, but because you haven’t specified for a good or bad ending, I’ll give you a good ending!
(I also don’t know whether you’re asking me for my personal opinion or for a fic but here you go.)
Oh right, just to clarify in case you don’t read the tags but the only reason this is going to be a happy ending is because of a wonderful thing called a butterfly effect.
———————————
Wei Wuxian knew that something had to be done. As soon as Wen Ruohan stepped onto the battlefield, hundreds of their own died in an instant.
Something had to be done. And with all the dead around him, Wei Wuxian had more than enough resources to combat him. But he had to be sneaky. Wen Ruohan had cut down many of his corpses. He had to get close somehow and distract Wen Ruohan enough. He got the chance soon enough when he found himself gripped by the neck by Wen Ruohan.
As he ran out of breath, he slightly whistled, commanding a nearby corpse to rise and stick its arm through Wen Ruohan’s chest. He saw the movement of someone in the corner of his eyes but couldn’t pay attention as his vision started to turn black.
As he fainted, he idly wondered why it didn’t hurt as he fell to the ground.
…………..
Meng Yao felt like everything had slipped out of his hands. He had everything planned out.
He would go to the Wens and be a spy for the Sunshot alliance unless it came to a point where the alliance would lose. He’d stay on the Wen’s side if that happened. Otherwise, he’d wait for an opportune moment and kill Wen Ruohan himself. With the deed of doing that, Meng Yao would finally be able to gain the necessary means to get recognized by his father.
But no. He only managed to be a spy. And even then, he did give half completed information once and Nie Mingjue was captured and tortured. Meng Yao’s odds didn’t look good even though he managed to get into the good graces of Zewu-Jun.
Regardless, he did manage to become Jin Guangshan’s son because Zewu-Jun helped him, though he wasn’t recognized as an heir considering his name was Guangyao instead of Ziyao.
His father also didn’t seem to like him a lot…… Jin Guangyao sighed.
………………
Wei Wuxian woke up a few days later and attended the victory banquet that was held.
Many people congratulated him and clapped him on the back, though he stiffened at the gesture. After all that had happened to him, physical touch was something still unwelcoming to him.
But whatever. It was still nice to get a confirmation that he did indeed kill Wen Ruohan. He did manage to barely see his corpse stick its arm through the Wen sect leader’s chest, but he wasn’t sure he hit a vital point. His vision was starting to go black then.
He grimaced, though. After this, he’ll have to go back to Lotus Pier. And help rebuild. It’s not that he was unwilling to do so. It’s just.....without his core......what he could do was limited. Physically, at least. He could try to convince Jiang Cheng to give him more paperwork type stuff, but it was unlikely.
Ah.....this is why he was hoping, just a little, to die during the last battle. But he didn’t. And now he has to find a way to dodge Jiang Cheng every time he wants Wei Wuxian to do something that would involve his core.
*sighs* Wei Wuxian really was tired of all this.
............................
In the end, it was grating on their already strained relationship, but Wei Wuxian managed to dodge Jiang Cheng when it came to things involving core-related stuff.
But Jiang Cheng was really starting to show some genuine irritation at his behavior.
Just as he wondered what to do, a familiar face brought him out of his thoughts. “Wen Qing?!”
.........................
They ended up breaking into Qiongqi Path where the Wen civilians - civilians for crying out loud - were being beaten and tortured to death.
As much as Wei Wuxian wanted to kill the Jin inspectors where they stood, Wen Qing told him to calm down otherwise, it would be a political mishap.
“The only reason you’re this calm is because you see Wen Ning.” Wei Wuxian pouted.
Wen Qing rolled her eyes but didn’t argue. If she hadn’t seen A’ Ning helping the others with their rather ridiculous tasks, there’s no way that she would have been as calm as she is now.
“It doesn’t matter. Wait till they don’t pay attention and sneak them out one by one! It’s not like the guards will actually notice until they’re all gone.”
“Hmm.”
.
.
.
In the end, the guards all fell asleep as they did this. But Wei Wuxian needed to think of a long term plan. They were all clothed in Wen sect garments so the first step would be to get them a change of clothes. He had sufficient funds from his duties as head disciple - though he wasn’t really performing those duties per say - as well as funds Shijie had given him.
So he got them a change of clothes. And a map. And told them to head to Dongying since it was far removed from any sects. Wen Qing gave him a hug, which surprised him and she asked for some paper, writing something down and handing him some notes.
“I always felt guilty about the transfer. So throughout the war, I came up with this. Your meridians are still intact, after all.”
“Wen Qing....” Wei Wuxian was stunned.
“It is the least I could do. After all that you have done for my family.”
Wei Wuxian did not cry.
He did not.
...................................
Time passed.
And eventually, Wei Wuxian formed a new golden core. It was not through traditional techniques though. Of course it couldn’t be. He was in his twenties and forming a golden core would be nigh impossible.
Wen Qing’s notes gave some insights though they were not complete. Wei Wuxian had to refine the method she had started.
And so, through the use of medicines and his own genius, a fledgling core formed after two years. How was he able to have that much time on his hands, you ask?
He may or may not have told Jiang Cheng and Shijie that in order to purify the resentful energy in him that he had to go into secluded cultivation.
They both reluctantly agreed but not before Wei Wuxian trained a successor, someone to take his place.
And now. Two years later, he has finally purified the last bit of resentment in him, has properly sealed the Seal away, and has finally formed a golden core.

Secret Mission in Marley:
Involving: Petra Ral and Levi Ackerman.
Summary: the scene takes place when the survey corps infiltrated Marley undercover some years after Eren and his friends reached the sea. In this version, the special operations squad (or Levi squad) didn’t die and won against the female titan, the major difference is that Levi isn’t their captain and squad leader. It is instead Petra squad; she is a veteran soldier whereas Levi is an Eldian from Marley living in the continent. The humanity’s strongest soldier in Paradis is Mikasa Ackerman whereas the humanity’s strongest warrior in Marley is Levi Ackerman. They didn’t know each other until the survey corps leader Hanji Zoë sent their best hope to infiltrate the Marleyan recruits, Petra Ral.
Point of view: Petra’s.
-> Italic font = flashback
PS: I drew something for one specific moment, hope you’ll like it!
Hanji sent me a letter yesterday, they said it’s important to remember who we really are. I think she is right; identity is the exact reason for which the human VS titan war began a long time ago. To know who we are, where we belong, and where we go makes the difference to such a point that people are ready to die for it.
War is awful. And yet, here we are. Repeating the same old mistakes again and again. I should say that Hanji’s opinion is incredibly brave, I saw them overworking to prevent direct conflict, they always preconized discussion. Unfortunately, it’s not the most common opinion, it’s so much easier to give in to fear. That’s why Hanji sent me here, in Marley, I have to find a way to stop that war. I know it’s not a one-person job but little by little, step by step we will find a solution. I’m looking forward for a bright future.
I remember the very first time I came here in Marley, we were all startled. We saw things we never could have imagined in Paradis. It was a brand-new world full of possibilities or that’s what I thought because I learned that even here terror was reigning. I fully experienced it when I joined the Marleyan warriors two months ago, it was very complicated to make me enter but Hanji managed to get an accomplice from the new Eldian Resistance Group and with their help I could join the recruits with a yellow armband. Soon enough I got to get along with Marleyan and honorary Marleyans, they were not that different from us. We had the same dreams, the same histories, we were human after all regardless our origins. However, this was something Marleyan people couldn’t accept for many reasons… the main being power.
I didn’t think my life would change briskly but it did happen. One of the nine original titan owner died, he was named Porco Galliard and I was selected to inherit his titan overnight, it was 2 weeks ago. The jaw titan. It was one honorary Marleyan Captain who handpicked me, Levi Ackerman. He has that peculiar expressionless face you can’t forget for sure. The thing I noticed about him is that he wears a red armband which means he’s also a titan shifter. But which one I still don’t know. I remember what he said back then to his higher up when he pointed his finger at me
“I want her in my team. I think she is able to get Galliard’s titan.”
I remember how the man he was talking to didn’t argue and congratulated me for my efforts. After handshaking, I experienced one of the most traumatic thing in my life which was to eat someone as a titan. That’s when Captain Ackerman kind of took care of me when I joined his team.
Thanks to this, I was becoming even closer to my goal even if it meant deceiving him and the other people I met, I had no choice; my fate was already decided, and I couldn’t give it up right now.
“That’s weird.”
“Uh? What are you talking about, Captain?” I answered.
“You seem pretty quiet today, that’s not like yours. You’re usually such a crappy chatterbox.”
“Oh, don’t worry. I was just lost in my thoughts.”
“Well…”
The thing is, I just remembered the first time we walked here together. The situation was… a mess, actually he nearly discovered who I really was.
As we were taking a strolling together in city, I couldn’t resist observing everything around me to the point it got suspicious. It was my first time in here. Liberio was lively, and people were preparing the fair looking forward the head of the Tybur family speech in a few days.
I didn’t notice at first, but I felt Levi’s glare on me as if he were thinking of something about me. I should say ever since I entered his team, he’s been keeping an eye on me as if he suspected something, but I hope I’m just being paranoiac. The second following that mere thought happened to answer to my question.
Without the time to think, I was carried away in a narrow street, Levi blocked me against the wall holding a knife at my neck. Was he… intimidating me?
“Okay ginger, you’re gonna tell me every single thing about you.” He said with a threatening voice.
“Eh… I mean… if you want to get to know me better… there are other ways… you know…” I nervously laughed. I was totally in distress because I knew he knew something but I couldn’t… no I didn’t want to admit it.
“Don’t play dumb with me… who are you? I’ve been watching your awkward behavior.” he kept asking.
“I’ll tell you if you promise to not kill me.”
“Why would I f*ucking do that? To leave you wandering around with bad intentions. No way. I could put an end to your life right now and no one would know.”
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Do you forget I have the jaw titan? Besides, I don’t fear death. You’re too late.”
“Whoever you are, I promise to discover it as soon as possible. Now walk.”
After a moment of reflection, Levi pulled me out of the wall by griping my collar and made me walk toward the principal avenue. He hid his knife from people’s glare pretending to be unharming.
Fortunately that day he spared me… well he never told he knew I was from Paradis, but I still think he keeps suspecting me anyway. Suddenly Captain Levi stops himself and I look back to understand what was going on. Without asking, Levi lifts up my chin and says
“Stop driving attention to us, Eldian”
Tumblr media
Eldian? Did he say Eldian? Then… he finally guessed after all. It was useless to deny it right now.
“Y-yes…”
“The way you kept saying “soldier” instead of “warrior” was a hint ya know… but you successfully deceived us all. Congrats.”
“Well… what are you going to do with me now?”
“What am I gonna do of your shitty ass? I really don’t know.” He finally said after a long sigh. As we resumed our little stroll, I couldn’t resist to ask
“You could have denounced me a long time ago. Then why?”
He didn’t answer as if he didn’t know what to say either. But then he lifts up his eyes toward the sky with a pensive expression.
“I actually suspected you from the beginning, but I didn’t want to believe it. Besides, I was the only one. You’re good at it I guess…”

You were trying to clean your house before Loki's return, so you brought your ladder to the living room and stood on it, cleaning the higher shelves with a wet cloth, rearranging some of your items in the process. In the last couple of weeks, you have had quite the time to spend alone and do random, non-important duties around the house as the avengers have been lacking the necessary number of missions that would require your presence. Though you were happy things seemed to have calmed down, it was also driving you mad. Meanwhile you found your life utterly boring as you kept on doing house chores, Loki voiced his opinion about the opposite. He found it relaxing that he didn't have to worry about you, though his words were meant only to your ears, his mischievous image couldn't have been compromised.
Stepping higher on the ladder, you reached for the top shelf hanging on your wall, but your foot slipped in the process, your fluffy slippers flying in the air as you fell backwards. Before you could have hit the carpet, two arms caught your underarm with a sharp exhale leaving your saviour's lungs. You didn't need to think twice to recognise even the way he took an annoyed breath.
"Thank you, love," you giggled as you looked back over your shoulder, meeting Loki's deadly gaze.
"Can't I leave you alone without attempting to die?" He asked as he helped you up, steading you on the ground, but still keeping an arm around your waist in case you decided to fall over your own two feet.
"My leg slipped, it's not like I planned to fall down," you huffed as you removed his arm from your waist and picked up your slippers that flew in different directions.
"Regardless of your intentions, it keeps happening. You are beyond reckless and clumsy at times, perhaps I need to hire someone to guard you," he raised a questioning brow, his tone serious, but from the tiny smile in the corner of his lips, you knew he was joking around.
"I'm not going to babysit someone so you can feel better," you groaned, earning a stunned expression from him.
"I don't think we understand each other. They would babysit you," he corrected.
"I'm an avenger, I'm fairly sure it would be me who would end up looking after them," you offered him a sceptical look.
"Right, you are an avenger. I didn't know the title came with a life insurance," he scoffed, both as a result of his smart reply and knowledge on trivial information about mortals.
"If that was an attempt to be funny, it didn't work," you huffed, shaking your head.
"Need I remind you that the only reason you are alive is me?" He asked with a concerned look.
"Need I remind you how mad I was?" You retorted with a sceptical expression. He chuckled at your reply as he sat down on the side of your bed and pulled you on his lap, kissing your neck softly.
"Aren't you happy to be here with me?" He asked with the sincerest look across his face.
"I am and I can't thank you enough for what you did, but Loki, that was very reckless of you, it could have ended very differently," you tried to explain as you locked your arms behind his neck.
"I know, but I could not bear the thought of losing you," he replied with a serious expression painted on his face, the events still vividly replaying in his mind after all this time. "When I arrived at the compound and you were nowhere to be found, I thought you were just out on another mission, nothing out of the ordinary, but the sight that greeted me, made my blood freeze," he exhaled sharply.
Loki stood at the entrance of the compound, right beside his brother, Thor, before he decided to look around the building. It seemed to be empty, only the sound of computers and F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s greeting interrupted the silence. Heading back towards the entrance, he heard the significant sound of the avenger's plane. He didn't dare to admit how glad he felt to know you were coming back, you were rather new at the relationship phase, but regardless of the cool demeanour he tried to keep up, he hurried out to see you arrive.
4 women in white robes, perhaps doctors, rushed out of the building that Loki thought to be empty, two of them pushing a gurney towards the plane as Steve held a limp body in his arms. Loki couldn't see who the injured person was until Rogers placed the body down onto the stretcher and stepped aside. He felt his blood stop, air stuck in his lungs, incapable of breathing as he saw your body covered in blood and some sort of dust that seemed to be of ash.
He ran up to the stretcher, feeling as though his eyes betrayed him, but the sight disappointed his expectations, it was indeed you, laying on that bed, looking worse than he first thought.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y., I need an update," Tony spoke up as he attached a digital bracelet around your wrist.
"Life functions are critical," she said as one of the women placed a tube in your throat and attached an oxygen pump to the other end of it. Before Loki could have even interrupted the nurses, they rolled you away. Thor placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, heaving a heavy sigh.
"She will be fine," he tried to encourage him, but Loki shook his head.
"Are you blind?" He asked as he looked towards the door, they rolled you through. "She— she is dying," he stumbled through his words, feeling hopeless in the situation.
"You can't think of the worst, Loki," Thor squeezed his brother's shoulder reassuringly as he gently nudged him towards the entrance and forced him to take a seat beside the operating room. Loki was still in shock, the noises, the rushing people, none of it making sense to him. The last time he saw you, you waved goodbye to him with a wide smile across your face and he couldn't even recall it without the memory being blurry. The only thing he could remember clearly was your face covered in blood and dust, your limp form being held by Rogers.
"Chances of survival: 29%," F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s voice came from behind the closed doors as Loki tightened his fist in his useless state. He wanted to do something for you, he wanted to be there beside you, encourage you to wake up, but as he stood up, Tony stopped him.
"Let them help her," he replied with a stern look as though he believed the doctors would be successful. But Loki felt nervous, there was a strange feeling in the pit of his stomach that sent shivers through his spine. He knew something was wrong, he saw the way you looked when he first laid eyes on you. It was hard for him to believe that some mortal healer would be able to snap a finger and fix you up.
"Chances of survival: 17%," F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s voice announced once again. Loki exhaled sharply through gritted teeth, his leg bouncing up and down in his nervous state.
"It will be okay," Thor tried to calm his brother down, but even his voice wavered.
Loki could hear the ticking of the clock, the silent noise frustrating him even more as though time itself wanted to remind him that there was a time limit on your life. Without hesitation he stood up from the seat and kicked in the door, scaring the doctors working on your body to heal you.
"You can't be in here," one of them attempted to grab him by the arm and drag him out, but he just harshly shook her off as he stood beside your bed, breathing shakily.
"Chances of survival: 10%," F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s voice announced once again as Loki held his hand up and placed it on your chest. He wasn't sure of what he was doing but he knew if he didn't try his possibly ridiculous idea, you were to leave him anyway and he couldn't let that happen.
A green flash of light beamed between his hand and your chest as he tried to transfer some of his powers to you, hoping it would save you, hoping he would never have to lose another person he finally let close to himself. A sharp exhale left your lungs as your wounds started healing on their own and eyes fluttered open. Looking around the room in shock, you were slightly confused about where you were and what happened, but as you laid your eyes on Loki, a small smile spread across your face.
"Loki," you whispered as you grabbed his hand on your chest. He let out a relieved sigh at the sight of your warm smile. "What happened?" You asked as you tried to sit up, groaning, your body feeling sore.
"You were in the middle of an explosion," Steve spoke up as he stepped inside the room followed by Tony and Natasha who were standing behind him with a stunned expression.
"How long was I out for?" With Loki's help you climbed off the table and steadied yourself on the ground, Loki's arm wrapped around your waist securely.
Steve took a sharp breath as though he was debating what to say, so Tony spoke up. "Three hours," he nodded, his eyes still wide in surprise at the events he witnessed.
A loud chuckle left your lungs, Stark's unexpected humour catching you off guard. "Come on, how long?" You attempted your question once again.
"Three hours," Natasha replied this time, her words making you frown.
"I don't understand," you spoke in confusion, your gaze falling to the ground as you tried to process the situation. "How?" You asked as you looked at Nat, who clearly stared at Loki beside you, then you turned to Tony whose gaze also fell on Loki, before you moved onto Steve who tilted his head with a questioningly raised brow as though he was asking 'what do you think?'. You turned around, furrowing at the God of Mischief, his eyes wandering anywhere around the room but never meeting your gaze. "What did you do?"
"I'm sorry, I had to do it. I didn't have a better idea," he attempted to explain his situation to you as his eyes fell on you, but you were having none of it.
"What did you do?" You asked firmly this time.
Loki let out a heavy breath as he spoke up. "I transferred some of my powers to you," he bit the inside of his cheek nervously.
"You did what? Are you mad? I'm a human, Loki, my body can't possibly carry some god's power," you replied in complete astonishment, your heart's rate increasing in your angered state. "Get out!" You shouted, pointing at the door, but the man didn't move. "I said get out!"
"What was I supposed to do?" He retorted in frustration, feeling helpless, an emotion he has never experienced before that day.
"I don't know, but certainly not giving me your power," you raised your hands in the air, as though you were stating obvious facts.
"I'm sorry," he apologised with a stern look across his face as he raised his voice. "I'm sorry, but I couldn't bear to see you die. I just couldn't let that happen. If you are mad at me for making a stupid decision, then be it, but I wouldn't take it back even if I knew how. I couldn't lose you. I wasn't going to risk that," his tone was firm, but the words leaving his lips couldn't have held more feelings. It was the first time you ever heard him speak so passionately, so emotionally.
You took a deep breath as you thought about it and you knew if it came to a situation where Loki came back injured, you would do anything in your power to heal him, regardless of how dangerous that would be. You placed a hand on the back of his neck and pulled him down to meet you halfway, closing the gap between you. The action surprised him at first, but he quickly wrapped his other arm around you and pulled you into his chest as he put all his feelings in that one kiss.
Pulling away, you offered him a sceptical look. "I'm still mad though," you spoke, earning a loud laughter from him, a wide, but soft smile taking over his worried look.
"I never want to experience anything like that ever again," he shook his head as he buried his face in your neck, the memories weighing heavily on his chest.
"I mean, I obviously don't want that either, but it has had some benefits," you chuckled as you lifted your hand and green lights sparkled above your fingers. "I kind of grew close to these little magic tricks," you smiled warmly.
"I'm glad you like it, but I wish the story behind it was different," he hummed against your neck.
"At least, now we know it's not dangerous," you smiled as you hinted a small kiss on his temple and ran your fingers through his long, black locks, soothing him.
He lifted his head and gazed into your eyes as he opened his mouth to talk. "At least we do," he heaved a heavy sigh. "I don't know what I would have done if I lost you. You make the good days brighter and the dark days lighter, without you I would feel empty," his words left your heart warm and fuzzy as you beamed at him lovingly. Each time that certain memory came up, Loki showed a concerned side of his, and you felt the need to console him, to tell him it was okay, because you were better than ever, and you could only thank him for it.
