The new kids on the tumblock have some bizarre ideas of how they want things to work here. I'm beginning to wonder if it's some new facet of the purity cultism because it all seems to focus on not following anyone, reblogging anyone, liking anyone's posts, or even having someone's posts cross your dash until they decide that you're acceptable and grant permission to you to do those things.
There's someone out there, likely multiple someones, who believe that you're only allowed to reblog from mutuals and anyone else doing so is being an asshole or a perv.
Even being mutuals with someone can apparently be a danger. I know Maia is/was getting harassed because some of its mutuals admitted to enjoying "problematic" shows and if it was okay with them liking "bad" stuff that meant it was saying the "bad" shows were good. Just like a perv would!
It would be funny if it wasn't so disturbing. Demanding that level of perceived moral perfection isn't healthy. It's also unhealthy to live your life in paranoid levels of hypervigilance, constantly checking those around you to make sure they're "good" people and being fearful of slipping up and having others think you're one of the "bad" ones.
"Problematic" is such a vague word, anyway, and the definition varies from person to person. The cultists keep raising the bar higher and higher in their efforts to achieve moral perfection and be able to look down upon the rest of us horrible people for liking- *spins wheel* -Dungeon Meshi. After all, there was that one time when That Writer was at a con and shook hands with That Fan, whom everyone knows is a proshipper! Which basically means That Writer is a groomer apologist! And yes, if we haven't reached that level of extremism yet, we are certainly hurtling towards it.
Follow anyone you want. Like and reblog anyone you want, whether you follow them or not. Send random asks to folks. Unless you're following, like, BabyEater666 and reblogging their grilled baby recipes, then you're probably safe. And even then make sure that the "babies" in question are actual human babies and not, like, jelly babies or Dutch babies or some other regional slang for something benign.
Relax. Try to have fun, and stop worrying about the virtue of everyone around you (including yourself). This is the anxiety website. We have more than enough things to worry about without making shit up. (Or at least the things we do invent to be worried about are less damaging to our health and friendships.)
So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Mirrored Ball of Brag’inir
Wondrous item, legendary ___
This mirrored ball is 3 inches in diameter and weighs 1 pound. Its reflective shards seem held together by a disembodied force of will. You can use an action to speak the command word and throw the sphere at a Huge or smaller creature you can see within 60 feet of you. As the sphere moves through the air, its mirrored shards drift apart to open the ball.
Make a ranged attack roll with an attack bonus equal to your Dexterity modifier plus your proficiency bonus. On a hit, the ball’s shards briefly encircle the target, which is then affected by the “maze” spell (no concentration required) and shunted to a special demiplane within the ball. Missing with the attack causes the shards to contract and become a sphere once more.
This version of the “maze” spell creates a labyrinth of mirrored walls. When the spell ends, the target reappears in the ball’s space or, if there isn’t room for it, in the nearest unoccupied space. The ball then vanishes, but reappears in a random location on a different plane of existence. When the target reappears, it takes 10d10 psychic damage from the ordeal, or half as much damage if the target escaped the labyrinth and ended the spell early. If the target escapes the labyrinth, it suffers a random short-term madness effect, which lasts for 1 minute. If the target spends the full duration in the labyrinth, it instead suffers a random long-term madness effect that lasts for 7 days. ___

It's pretty telling that folks continue to blame writers for any "failings" of Hollywood when we've been given overwhelming proof that it's the studio and network execs who are at fault. They treat the writers like shit. They try to inject "AI" into everything (or otherwise make bank on whatever digital snake oil the techbros are selling). They continually recycle material rather than try something new because it's a "safe bet." They make entire movies and then throw them out unseen in order to save on taxes. They cancel hit shows after a couple seasons so they don't have to pay the cast/crew more money (looking at you Netflix). But yeah, writers are the problem.
PS: Animators aren't the problem either. Disney in particular is very deliberate about making all of their princess characters same-y. And a lot of shows have a similar visual style because they're following established trends and trendy means money to execs.
Maybe instead of blaming people living paycheck to paycheck you should look at the assholes sitting on a mountain of cash and dictating everything.
I dont want to sound like an elitist but the people who write tv shows arent doing a good job

My girlfriend is turning 32 soon…
I’ve told her not to get her hopes up. “After all,” I say, “we’re only going to celebrate it for half a minute” when she asked what in the world I was talking about, I pointed out “This is your thirty-second birthday”

"why can't they just be friends" not in the homophobic way but in the "their platonic relationship in the source material is far more dynamic and complex than the sanitized personalities they gain as a result of shipping" way

⚔️ 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Vine Whip
Weapon (whip), uncommon ___
Tightly braided living vines have been rooted to the end of a branch to make this magic whip. The whip adds 10 feet to your reach when you attack with it, instead of 5 feet; if you’re a druid or ranger, it instead adds 20 feet to your reach. If you’re a druid, you’re proficient with the “vine whip.” This whip can be targeted by the “shillelagh” spell.
When you hit a Large or smaller target with the whip, you can choose to pull it up to 10 feet towards you, or 20 feet if you’re a druid or ranger. Unless you’re a druid, this property of the whip can’t be used again until the next dawn. ___

Found a template letter to use here. (on github)
I regret to inform you that Discord's new Terms of Service includes an arbitration clause. You can find it here https://discord.com/terms/#16. This clause includes an opt-out, which I have transcribed here:
You can decline this agreement to arbitrate by emailing an opt-out notice to [email protected] within 30 days of April 15, 2024 or when you first register your Discord account, whichever is later; otherwise, you shall be bound to arbitrate disputes in accordance with the terms of these paragraphs. If you opt out of these arbitration provisions, Discord also will not be bound by them.
These clauses are underhanded ways that corporations seek to deprive you of your right to participate in class-action lawsuits and your right to a jury trial. (This does only apply to us users ,other people still spread the word though )
