Hey! I have to ask because you seem like a good resource, I have never had a PIEROGI before, and want to know if you have any good recipes for them?

PIEROGI RECIPE from my babcia

ingredients: 10 medium sized potatoes 250g curd cheese, or a mix of ricotta and cream cheese 1 large onion salt and pepper sour cream, butter, & bacon to serve

and, for the dough: 4 cups white plain flour approx 1 cup of water tablespoon of olive oil (or you can buy round dumpling sheets from asian supermarket if lazy)

TO MAKE

peel, cut and boil potates until cooked

chop your onion finely and caramelise it in a bit of oil.. don't let em burn or they'll taste bitter

mash your potates and cheese. add the onion, salt and pepper, and mix very well. cover with glad wrap and set aside

in a mixing bowl add your flour and salt to taste. start adding the water or oil until you have a dough you can roll out very thinly

put a large pot full of water to boil, add one tsp of salt & a glug of cooking oil to stop the sticking

knead your dough a few times til it becomes elastic and easy to work with

lightly flour your work surface and, with a rolling pin, roll the dough as thin as possible, like 1-2mm. the thinner you can do this the yummier the final result, but work within your comfort zone, as you don't want the pierogi to split when boiling

use a glass to cut circles out of the dough

placing the circle of dough in the palm of your hand, stretch slightly and add a heaped teaspoon or more of the potato/cheese mixture. yummy!

stretch the dough around the mixture to seal into a dumpling, and place them on a floured plate

when you're ready, boil your pierogi about 5 or 6 at a time, making sure they don't stick to each other or the pan. boil til they float to the surface.

pull them out with a slotted spoon and lay them on a draining board to cool congrats! you have make delicious pierogi ruskie. you can eat them straight away, but i loooove to fry them all crispy in oil and butter... i hope this brings you so much love and dumpling

I’m glad more people are respecting botw/totk Link as an actual character with some level of depth, but, I think too many of you are forgetting the kinda person he was after losing his memories.

He’s playful, and especially good with kids.

He is HORRIBLE at flirting, or probably only does it as a joke and isn’t serious about it. Might even say things that are inappropriate sometimes.

just a general smartass.

He’s bashful. He breaks the stoic demeanor when told he looks cute in his new outfit or is asked if he has a crush on someone lol.

Other things Link has done that I couldn’t find images of but do actually happen:

- Scamming a creep into giving him his shoes.

- (botw) Trying to actually for real use the “but I’m over 100” excuse at a bar when he was 17, and completely failing at it.

- Drank what is essentially hyrule’s equivalent to sunscreen.

- Actually enjoys eating rocks

When people try to analyze Link’s character, I notice that they try to brush off depictions if his character that are more “silly goofy guy” as ooc, when those interpretations are still actually based in canon evidence.

Even Creating a Champion describes him as “more lively” after waking up. Mipha’s journal mentions he was more happy and extroverted as a young child, implying that he likely became that way due to trauma, but still probably has those playful tendencies.

HUGE spoiler for TotK, and a mild spoiler for my WIP link-POV continuation of CWRD (there's a Zelda-POV also in the works).

So a friend from AO3 (whom I do not believe is on tumblr) sent me Halsey's song "Control" as a great theme for Kellen in Loved - Lost - Found (Modern loz AU). And it WAS. It was AWESOME for him.

But then I played through TotK and realized I had set my Link up in tQRR to have some anger issues re: lost memories and his failure 100 years prior. The scene when you get the Final Dragon Tear in TotK, I (the player) wept like a lost child, especially when the fucking flowers spawned (to keep the spoilers here as light as possible). But my Link? My Link would have been devastated... for maybe a bit. And then a ball of rage. So when he gets to the Castle to confront the Doppelganger, I wrote him as furious. A warrior, a swordsman, who is just absolutely enraged and goes HAM on what looks (to Tulin and Yunobo particularly) like His Princess, the kiddos are ALARMED.

I'm bigger than my body I'm colder than this home I'm meaner than my demons I'm bigger than these bones And all the kids cried out "Please stop, you're scaring me" I can't help this awful energy Goddamn right, you should be scared of me Who is in control?

It got real dark real fast and I think I'll have to edit it a LOT to make it work in the framework of the greater story but I reeeeeally like the interplay of the four champions in regards to their opinions of The Doppelganger. Sidon & Riju immediately conclude 'that can't be Zelda' and the other two say 'we have to find her to find out' so Link snapping made a great opening to really play those perspectives against each other.

It's so easy to think of Link as This One Derpy Guy for all the ridiculous things he does and ludicrous ways he can off himself. But. His KDA is huge, especially if you're playing a Korok War Criminal type of Link. The guy is like a one-man US Military drone strike. You SHOULD be scared of him. I think the sins he would commit to Get Zelda Back are only surpassed by the sins he commits once he realizes She's Gone Forever.

A not-yet-edited segment of my TotK, Zelda POV fic that extends the CWRD universe, below the cut. Working title: Still So It Flows For context, this is how I'm dealing with the continuity problems I talked about in the rant-post I just made.

MAJOR spoilers for TotK and my own WIP below the cut. I'm serious, don't click if you don't want to be spoiled.

[Set before meeting with Mineru but after arriving in Sonia's era and spending a night recovering and getting new clothes. Zelda is hesitent to speak of her era to Sonia, not wanting to damage the flow of time. Sonia, who was knitting, holds up a ball of yarn, and asks Zelda if she knits]

“Oh, you should. It really helps with figuring out some of the things Mineru talks about, with ones and zeros. Regardless, take this ball of yarn. There is an end buried somewhere in the middle, and then this end, here. And the two are connected, through hundreds of meters of fiber. You could move from one end to the other by unwinding the entire ball, or-“ she poked her finger into the middle and after a moment withdrew it, the other end looped around her knuckle “-some of us, like you, can jump from one place to another and skip the in-between. It might even be possible to move the yarn to the place you want it, but that is beyond my knowing.”

“So, your belief is that, rather than traversing backwards through the entire stretch of Hyrulian history, I hopped across a narrow point in the stream?”

Sonia smiled warmly at me. “More or less. History repeats itself. Events recur, kingdoms rise and fall and rise again. Perhaps in other realities, other worlds, the loop is longer. Perhaps there are places where the coils are more regular, the flow is a lazy river rather than a roiling ball of yarn. This, though, is the point at which creation is protected; entropy is pushed back, creation is reaffirmed, and then it happens again. And again. Endlessly, while the rest of creation whirls around us and grows and changes, we fork and split and merge and wrap back upon ourselves, every possible outcome explored on the way through.”

“And therefore anything I tell you about my future, you might have already heard, as a legend of a time long past.”

Sonia nodded at me, pleased. “When was the great flood? The seas covered the land, and the zora fled to the surface, eventually soaring through the air as they once did through the water. Countless years later, they are the rito. When was this flood?”

“The… what?”

“The zora and the rito are both here, now – are they in your time, as well?”

“They… yes. Yes, we have zora and rito both.”

“The zora yet live, so the flood is in the future. But the rito are with us, so the flood is in the far past. Do you see?”

“I… I think… I might?”

“When something is created – the rito in this instance – it becomes another ply in the yarn, another stream feeding into the river. Hylia becomes human, another ply in the yarn, and all the many events of our times are run through with this new added weight. Perhaps at one point there were no Gorons, no Zora even. Perhaps once the only race upon Hyrule were the Hylians. That makes it seem like you didn’t travel very far at all.”

“How…? How do you know all this?”

Sonia winked at me, and then flicked her tea spoon to the floor. While I watched, she frowned at it, and then it glowed yellow and rose back to its place on the table.

“You play with the flows of time long enough, you get a feel for it.”
