HM How do i put this.So people often think 'punk' and 'asshole' are synomyous and this causes problems when it comes to character interpretations(and irl too ofc but that's for a future post). Now i'm not saying you can't be punk and an asshole because that would be absolutely stupid and just incorrect but the latter does not make the former and you shouldn't force anyone to when they're not even if they're fictional since how you treat characters who're part of a group reflects how you think of the irl one
I'm gonna use the example that prompted this post:Spiderpunk aka Hobie Brown.Hobie is often characterized as mean-spirited and perverted because he's explicitly meant as the embodiment of black punks but the thing is,in the actual movie and og comics,Hobs is an incredibly sweet and gentle person and if you think i'm being ridicilous for saying that about the dude who kills fascists and runs his mouth all the time, consider that direct action is not an act of cruelty but kindness towards oppressed people by helping them have a safer world and that Hobie's only actually rude to authority figures and with everyone else he's just goofy. He's also pretty open with how much he loves his friends and always has their backs and i find it very odd how often he gets assumed to be an extremely sexual person when there were never even any under the radar adult jokes about or by him and the smoker headcanon for him is baseless too and pretty obviously only happens for sex appeal
And that's a general problem with both canonical and popularly headcanon punk characters-Most fandom members think punk is 1.Exclusively male and 2.Inherently made to make yourself attractive. There's nothing wrong with finding punk men super hot but there IS a lot wrong is assigning punkhood to them with that intention alone, especially often the characters are not only just EdgyTM but also straight up fascists(Hp and Marauders Flop Era 'kinnies',please touch grass)
This leads to defanging of punk female characters.Katara is a classic example and Zuko is a rich boy with weird biases he's very open about that didn't fade until adulthood while Katara is an eco-terrorist who reclaims girlhood for herself by being anti-traditionalist and feminine in her own way yet Zuko is always the punk of the Gaang in aus.Stephanie Brown and not a girl but Duke Thomas are a poor woman who grew up friendless and abused by her dad and had a drug addict mom so she became a vigilante at 14 to help people like her and is implied to be a metalhead and a black boy who grew up getting kicked out schools and in and out of foster homes and joined a gang of crime fighters respectively but Stephanie is called scene instead(cause pastel punks don't exist right /s)and Duke is turned a meek black boyloser stereotype so that Jason Todd can be the punk Batkid instead, which is certainly......a choice seeing as Under The Red Hood is basically about him doing freestyle death penalty and is not actively an activist even if he does enjoy helping people and does whenever he has the opportunity to by narrative.Very important sidenote is that Stephanie and Duke are often entierly erased from Batman fan content despite being Jason's Batgirl and Robin and i think you can guess why(that obviously the coolest Batkid has to be the fan favorite white boy /s x2)
And i feel the need to include this one due to my url and that is Percy Jackson.Percy is representation for audhd and dyslexic people who can never mask and got bullied and abused for it but remained kind against all world's cruelty and choose to help others since they wanted the world to be like that to them as a kid instead but they ALSO aren't a pussy about it so they openly stand up to corrupted people and refuse to be like them no matter how hard they try to get them to and they openly hate them for what they're like and they act like a parental figure to younger minorities.Their creator stated he never inteded Percy as being bisexual and has no interest in it but he also said he'd be happy and supportive of Percy being played by a poc one day and within the books Percy is extremely transfem-coded so obviously the fandom pops several blood vessels when literally any of this is aknowledged because they read the wrong books and wanted a white male power fantasy in ancient greek gays flavor
You can be super nice and punk because punk is a subculture, not an entire personality type. And i hate to break it to edgecases on here but being super mean to people without a justified reason because you think it's cool or finding irresistibly hot on others is one of the most normal things you can do

hiii can i ask you about cannibal niki?? what ya think bout him?? (in theory, where Niki's parents were the ones who 'ate fish' in the cult of Shinkai!!) and if ya open to request can i see a lil rinniki kiss?? on cheeks or something like dat just a smol doodle🤲 (AND SORRY ABOUT MY ENG IDK HOW TO WRITE😭)
hello anon! putting this behind a readmore again bc it might be a little long (it is) but i assure you the doodle is at the end of the post! sorry if i sound at all hostile during any parts of this post i tried to look back and change the wording for a lot of things, but like that other long ass rinne post i made it's smth i feel very strongly about! 🙇
i’m gonna keep it real with you, i’m not particularly fond of that headcanon! i feel like i’ve mentioned it before, and i respect anyone who likes it, but i see it as sort of edginess with no concrete basis besides gags and a crucial main story scene (that i think disproves it), therefore i don’t rly like talking about it or discussing it. i’ll go on to explain where i think the origin for this headcanon lies, bc while i do think it’s something that can be extrapolated from the story, it’s not necessarily the “truth” behind niki’s parents, or him being a cannibal, or anything like that.
in the main story chapters 136-140 eichi goes on to explain crazy:b’s weak points: if worse comes to worst, alkaloid can use these points against them to take them down. in 139 specifically, eichi says that niki himself is hard to exploit — but they can use his father’s infamy to their favor. niki’s father was a famous chef known for his cooking tv programs. he had a period of popularity which was quickly ended when rumors were spread about him using human meat during one of his shows, and thus he was sworn to never be on tv again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you see, it’d be perfectly reasonable to assume niki’s father is a cannibal if eichi said this in all seriousness. however, taking context into account and how during this and the previous chapters eichi is going out of his way to make crazyb sound as bad as he feasibly can, it shows that this is their last resort and that the smear campaign needs to WORK. ES needs to make crazy:b look as bad as possible to make them give up. also eichi is kind of known for making his speech grandiose and generally making things sound more severe than they actually are, this is enstars 101. and even so, eichi himself softens the claim immediately afterwards, saying that these accusations were made at a time when tv stations were trying to get the idol industry back on its feet — they made that up, because they wanted to make sure there was no competition on the same network! and he follows that up with saying “yeah lol that’s pretty normal in this industry”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i won’t make any mention of the shinkai cult here because there rly is no ties except for…the cannibalism, i think? i also feel like what kanata talks about in meteor impact addresses something that may or may not have happened a long, long time ago, and at a very dire time rather than something reoccurring — and i doubt niki’s parents were even alive. i havent seen this spoken about anywhere else so im not sure where you’re coming from, sorry anon :(
that aside, niki also seems to be at least somewhat aware of what happened, and the ramifications it had on his own life. you have to understand, niki’s parents left the country when these allegations started popping up, and niki’s been on his own since then — niki’s not stupid. if his parents didn’t tell him, he pieced it together himself. he knows what happened, and generally makes light of the situation and having to live on his own because that’s just how he is; these events have helped shape how niki is, on a fundamental level. but all of that aside, he more than anyone knows that his father would never do something like that, that all of it is baseless lies made to hurt him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when i say these things shaped him, i mean that the incident has made him feel like, regardless of whether the allegations are true or not, his father caused a lot of trouble to many people. niki idolized his father — and seeing this happen to him, niki is left to think that he, too, is bound to cause people problems, both bc of this, and his constitution. he makes it a point to be like i don’t want to be like my father, again, not because of the cannibalism, but because the whole ordeal had very lasting repercussions on niki, on their family, perhaps even for any chef that might’ve pursued a similar career path to his father. i find it hard to believe that it was a one and done type thing; tabloid news and everything. he probably had his name run through the mud.
niki consciously tries to not make trouble, he laughs off his insecurities, he tries not to take up too much space, even now. gotta keep his image clean but it's also like. obviously hes not really going out of his way to expose himself and be in the culinary world more than he needs to. he carries the weight of knowing his family name is taboo so that just kind of bleeds onto how he perceives himself and what he does — that coupled with his condition makes him feel like he deserves the bare minimum. bc of these things happening, i can also imagine his parents drilled the idea into his head before they left — to not cause trouble for others if it’s the last thing he does. kind of on the nose, niki does mention during one of the flashbacks that his father told him human meat is the one thing he must absolutely never do. which is like. well, yeah
also (tapping mic) part of the reason rinne causes so much trouble for him is because he wants niki to see that it’s ok to cause trouble for him back — that if niki goes out of his way to do stuff for him, even if begrudgingly, rinne can pay him back in kind. one of rinne’s main drives is that he wants to be able to dismantle this idea niki has in his head that he’s less deserving of good things because of his past, and his body. i’d even go as far to say that it’s an integral part of their relationship and both of their characters. um anyways
people are allowed to think or portray him however they want, of course, but i think saying that his father is a cannibal and thus niki is a cannibal too feels like completely dismissing parts of his character for the sake of making this otherwise “wholesome” person be more 'edgy' and perhaps aligning more to their tastes. i can’t police how people perceive him but i think a lot of where this stems from is wanting to have a character to project specific aesthetics onto, latching onto small bits of his story and lines without really looking at the full picture.
niki tries so hard to be someone who can move past these allegations and still struggles with thinking that he can do what he likes lest he be like his father, so, idk. i personally don’t like to engage w/ or see these interpretations. to each their own!
Tumblr media
also as to why niki makes jokes about eating people and it’s somewhat a recurring gag with him: well personally i think he’s just a little weird. it’s done in a cutesy playful way like "omg u smell so good i could eat you right up!" and its more like... a compliment. (esp coming from him w his rly good sense of smell and taste) yeah its joking abt eating ppl but not joking abt cannibalism itself its all theoretical eating. (have u never joked about wanting to eat someone up…or wanting to bite ppl.. i think it’s kind of like that. it’s just that they juice him for the bit)
also to thank you for your patience. here’s the doodle ♡

For character ask game—I feel like I always ask you about either rodimus or tarantulas so I’m going in a completely different direction. Tell me about Optimus Prime
we will continue the streak and do IDW Optimus!
one aspect about them i love: I like the way Barber handles Optimus as someone who finds out there is no way to idealize yourself, that is, to make yourself into an ideal, and then go back to being a just a person. There's something really compelling about the way that Optimus post-war tries first to abdicate the legacy he helped create to win the war and then tries to make it into something else that can exist during peacetime and just... fails. He made himself too remote and now he has no way back. He made himself too central and now if he leaves things collapse in his wake because nature abhors a vaccum. It's really interesting.
one aspect i wish more people understood about them: this is kind of in a metatextual sense, but. People who in IDW have mostly read MTMTE/LL often assume that in phase two, Optimus is shown in this uniformly positive light by the narrative. And he's just not by Barber! When he makes very bad decisions in those comics, you are supposed to see the downward spiral. There's an arc called 'All Hail Optimus', it's not even subtle.
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character: This is a completely baseless one that I don't even know why I believe so strongly: Optimus guessed- had a suspicion deep down that he tried not to look at- that Prowl, not the Decepticons, bombed Carpessa. Optimus understood how Megatron conducted himself and his army well enough to recognise that doing it would have been an uncharacteristically stupid decision at that point in the war (demoralizing to people on the fence about which side to join, strategically not useful, likely to be useful to the Autobots for propaganda purposes) but. He really needed Prowl not to have gone behind his back and have done it; he needed to not lose a key member of his command at a delicate point in the war. So he persuaded himself he was being ridiculous, and that set off a chain reaction of sunk cost fallacy reasoning which is a part of why Prowl avoided suspicion of wrongdoing outside his remit for so long. Because acknowledging anything else meant admitting that he had always been willing to overlook an obvious, truly egregious crime for the sake of keeping a useful resource he didn't want to give up.
one character i love seeing them interact with: I really, really love all the stuff with him and Shockwave. I still find it amazing how Shadowplay sells me on that relationship so quickly and in so little time, so that everything which comes after is convincingly tragic. And it is! God, it's so tragic. And yet also really. Fucked up? Hey remember when Senator Shockwave had someone perform unknowing surgery on Optimus so he could be a candidate to carry the matrix. WILD. There's this weird power dynamic at play there I find SO fascinating.
one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more: I wish we'd seen more one-on-one stuff between him and Arcee. She's a character uniquely suited to see through the Prime bullshit as someone from a time before all of that becoming entrenched in their society, and also able to bring a perspective to the ways that Cybertronian society's problems well pre-date his experience. And he's someone trying to work out how to stop the cycle they're all stuck in repeating yet again during peacetime, which mirrors Arcee's personal arc. Also she can mock him for acting like he's sooo old or whatever like. You Are A Baby To Me. I think she would puncture him in a way that he would actually appreciate. She's one of the only people in a position to see him as not much more than just a guy in charge.
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have that involve them and one other character: I don't think Optimus likes Rodimus. And I think a lot of that is that he recognizes he fucked up with Rodimus, at Nyon, in a way he has no real way to... do anything about, or even acknowledge now it's been so long. So he can't even truly get pissed when Rodimus fucks something up, because a little part of him is like. Hm. Well. He is, on the whole, partly my fault, isn't he. Which is frustrating, because he can't fix it, and he can't lash out about it without that niggling thought, and in the meantime Rodimus is just constantly there being kind of weird about him and causing problems. And so all that's left is to translate that situation into a kind of diffuse discomfort he grits his teeth and bears. Also, Rodimus is one of the only people willing to call him out on his weird Megatron hangups, which is infuriating because Optimus tries really hard to ignore that he has any.

Dunno if this is the optimal time to post this, but I finally have time to write it and I generally hate seeing things sit in my drafts/inbox so I'm gonna knock it out anyway. Criticism of RWBY under the cut, so anyone who wants to avoid that can skip over it.
As much as I hate to sound like I'm agreeing with the idiots over at r/rwbycritics, I do think RWBY has a problem where it just... doesn't put in the work to get from A to B, the fans fill in the blanks with (often very well-thought-out and plausible) explanations and headcanons of their own, and then the community holds it up as an example of impeccable writing on the part of the show when it's the audience that's done the work the writers were supposed to do in the first place.
Like, I'm not saying the writing needs to spoonfeed us everything, but sometimes stuff needs to be acknowledged in-universe. We need to know that the characters are taking the same things into account and coming to the same conclusions as the audience.
The best example I can think of for this is the decision to steal a Manta from the Argus base in Volume 6. I think the intent is good and I get what they're going for - it's the standard "Young Adult protagonists rebel against corrupt/obstructive authority" plot we're used to seeing in YA media at this point - but I don't think the execution was very good. Specifically, I think it failed to establish the necessity of stealing the airship instead of any other alternative.
The other option critics usually pose is to send Weiss alone with Qrow, which is a stupid plan for a number of reasons. First, Weiss demonstrates a very real fear that the Atlesian military will return her to her father on multiple occasions. While she may just be paranoid, I don't think that's the right explanation. We know that Ironwood and Jacques have a close working relationship from Volumes 2 and 4 (Jacques describes Ironwood as a friend to the Schnee family and the Schnee Dust Company helped develop the Paladin), and we know that when Weiss ran away, she specifically sought Winter's protection, because her sister is one of the few people in the Atlesian military with both the incentive and influence to shield her from her father.
We also know that Jacques abused Weiss. We've seen him do it on screen and Weiss has talked about his treatment of her family multiple times. According to the critics, she should've just sucked it up and gone back to Atlas alone anyway, despite a whole story arc about escaping it and searching for her allies and family because she couldn't deal with Jacques alone, as if abuse is something easily conquered in five minutes because the greater good demands it, as if her fears that she'll be returned to his custody are baseless, as if her superior physical prowess is enough to keep her safe when her father exerts financial control over her, has an entire PR team and law firm at his disposal, and can afford to hire security personnel that can physically force Weiss to comply with his commands.
There's no guarantee that Weiss will get to Ironwood, which is why the critics want to stuff Crow Qrow in her suitcase and send him along. This sounds reasonable on the surface, since Qrow is both strong enough to protect Weiss and has enough of a relationship with General Ironwood to have a decent chance of getting Weiss in to see him (assuming him appearing out of nowhere doesn't freak the soldiers out and get them both arrested), but... Qrow is not reliable at the moment. Qrow is (understandably, given what he's recently learned) trying to drink himself to death and needs Ruby to yell at him before he stops being dead weight and starts actually contributing again. Sending him off alone with Weiss does little to guarantee that he'll actually do his part and carry out the mission instead of giving up or going off to raid Ironwood's liquor cabinet. Qrow is not a reliable asset at this stage of the story, and it's no coincidence that he's not an integral part of the plan the protagonists ultimately go with.
(This sounds a little unsympathetic to Qrow, I suppose, and I do feel for him. I'm just trying to make the point that from a purely pragmatic perspective, Qrow is not useful right now. He cannot be relied upon for anything essential.)
The problem is that none of this is addressed in the show. Cordovin shuts down the initial plan (asking for passage) and then we jump straight to stealing an airship. There's no attempt to come up with an alternative plan and only minimal pushback against a plan acknowledged as drastic and risky in-universe. The show doesn't adequately establish the sense of urgency that makes a measure like this necessary - we know the Relic of Knowledge attracts Grimm, but we don't know how strong that attraction is. From what we actually see in the show, it's not that big a deal (certainly not enough to justify rushing to Atlas at all speed) - from what we've seen, it attracts a Manticore pack to the Argus Limited, apparently an event common enough that the train has defenses installed and Huntsmen hired to protect it (and ordinary enough that no one thought it was particularly remarkable until Ozpin revealed that the Relic had attracted them); the Apathy kind of cluster around it (but they're already trapped in a confined space and don't do much of anything anyway); and the Leviathan and its flunky Grimm attack Argus (again, a common enough occurrence that Atlas has countermeasures in place to deal with it). The protagonists aren't constantly harried by Grimm as they cross Anima to reach Argus and we don't see evidence of abnormal Grimm presence around Argus once the group actually arrives, unless you count the Leviathan attack. No one ever explains in explicit detail how the Relic draws Grimm or what the strength or range of that attraction is. Nothing that we see on-screen manages to sell the necessity of moving as quickly as Ruby and her allies decide to.
So now that we've failed to establish the need to jump on the first half-baked plan that someone comes up with, we need to make the case that stealing an airship is the best available option, and that means we need a scene where alternatives are actually discussed. We need a scene where someone says "hey, what if we sent Weiss?". We need a scene where Weiss balks at the idea and points out that she barely escaped from her father the first time and Cordovin has already explicitly stated her intention to return her to her family and not the military. We need a scene where somebody suggests smuggling Qrow in Weiss's luggage and someone else (Ruby, perhaps) counters that by bringing up Qrow's near-constant inebriation and general unwillingness to be productive. Maybe Weiss volunteers, clearly reluctantly, to take the risk anyway, despite the fact that her father could exert control over her once she lands, because they desperately need to get the Lamp to Atlas. Maybe one of her teammates (I like Yang for this since she's the one with the protective instincts, but Ruby or Blake work just fine as well) responds by saying there's no way in hell they're sending her back to Atlas alone, just like Ruby did earlier. Maybe they even float another alternative and shoot it down. Regardless, we've actually done the work to establish that stealing an airship is the only, or at least the most viable, path left.
This isn't the only place where RWBY struggles with this concept. I was gonna talk about the wall conflict in Volume 7 and how we can easily come up with reasons why Robyn and the people of Mantle can't just casually plug the hole(s) in the wall but still needed to be shown that the people in-universe were aware of these reasons, but I'm too tired to make this post any longer. Maybe I'll do it later.

ty for the crack ships<33
YOU'RE WELCOME!!!
i'm something of an online fandom vet, not necessarily for the TES fandom in particular, but in the concept of online fandom in general. as someone who was involved in a lot of deviantart- and forum-based fandom circles in the late 00s, i have a lot of nostalgia for what i can only describe as "competitive crackshipping", where people would essentially compete to see who could come up with the most insane and baseless ship, then try and draw/write them enough to make it actually catch on. i joined tumblr in 2011 and this was especially huge in homestuck due to the sheer insanity of the "quadrant system", which let you ship a character 4 ways between 5 other characters without contradiction.
i think of shipping as a fun excuse to practice your creative skills, which in turn is completely at odds with trying to deduce the most logical ship or, god forbid, seriously campaigning for the ship to become canon. then again, i think that goes for any headcanon or theory, not just shipping. the whole POINT is circumventing the inflexible monolith of canon!!
as for my tes ships specifically... i really need to just post what i have so far of that big stupid marcien fic. it's 10k words across the first 2(?) chapters and then about 12k words across the remaining 6 chapters, so i'd only be able to post half of what i've written, which is also only a third of the full fic, buuuuut. yknow. i'm not working on those first two chapters anymore so they're not really doing any good just sitting here waiting for the rest of the fic to slowly materialize while i figure out how the hell i wanna actually end it and keep cutting and rewriting huge sections in the meantime.

Headcanons about the clown cult
aka hiveswap isnt canon it cant hurt me hiveswap explode now
HOWEVER, purplebloods are definitely the ones “running” the cult. Alongside the casteism that is already fundamentally built into trolls in general, higher blooded trolls are also seen as being more holy, in a way. Purples are the only ones allowed to actually gain authoritative positions in the clown church. You cannot have a lowblood pastor.
List will be updated as I think of more.
The cult is not full of murder purplebloods it is as far removed from the concept of a highblood group let alone a violent group as you can possibly get on alternia this shit is based on being equal as brothers in arms before the mirthful messiahs and whatever. The religion and its members are open and accepting to all castes and baseless murder is pretty much off limits. This aspect of the cult is considered just as stupid to the rest of alternia as the clown gods thing.
The “purple bloods in particular are encouraged to join the cult” thing is largely )(IC’s doing. The Experience that Gamzee had during murderstuck is very common among apostate highbloods (which it’s really hard not to be once you get shipped off to space), so by creating a self-sufficient factory of immortal clowns drunk on highblood rage, she ends up with an insane boost in her army’s strength.
Okay so back to the actual cult itself. The general teachings of the cult are hedonistic in nature, and strongly encourage the followers to develop a toxically positive mindset. “get wrecked on sugar instead of dealing with your problems.” “highbloods get zonked out of your mind to suppress highblood-rage.” “literally just don’t worry about anything the messiahs will take care of it” (this also makes it really hard for people to leave the cult of their own volition, since that would mean having to face The Horrors head on without a pre-built tolerance for them. Just checking off that last box on the BITE model.)
They actually glorify the whole “emotional masking” thing in a very literal way, which is where the face paint comes from. True to the clown code from real life, it’s essential that the makeup is 1.) always covering your face and neck when other trolls are around (beforian practices mandated that no unpainted skin should be visible but alternia is more lenient) and 2.) have a unique, consistent, and generally happy look. It’s both a symbolic and literal way of making sure you are constantly putting on a positive “performance”
The mirthful messiahs are not necessarily loving. Clowns believe that they bless their followers and whoever they deem worthy with miracles (which are real for some reason), and that they will one day eradicate everything in paradox space that they don't like.
The actual workings of miracles and chucklevoodoos are guarded to the grave by the high-ranking clowns who are allowed to know them, but they can be used by apostates (and frequently are in intergalactic war)

KNOWING YOUR PARTNER WELL CAN POTENTIALLY MAKE WRITING TOGETHER A LOT EASIER. ( REPOST DO NOT REBLOG ! )
Tumblr media
○  NAME: Erin // Xy.
○  PRONOUNS: he/him
○   PREFERENCE OF COMMUNICATION: Discord or Tumblr, either or is completely fine. I reply to both the same, tho im slow.
○    NAME OF MUSE(S): Malfatto, William de Saint-Prix, Nightstalker Joe, wow i’m really going down the basic names now, I roleplayed artorias and pate from dks but not anymore. I also muse Verulo and a small amount of Illario from acb but on the side, and more so Verulo. He’s a bit of an older muse that I did nothing with besides throw comments in for (still do, since im not sure who he fits with)
○    EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG (MONTHS/YEARS?): 10 years, off and on? Could be more tbh I’ve lost count I feel old
○    PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED: for rp, I mostly use Discord but Tumblr is nice too, when it’s functional lol
○   BEST EXPERIENCE: In General? Musing with people and creating a deep and expansive world around what little canon information we even received from Ubisoft — as well as Personal, @ardentfew @larosafatale @templarlanz @officialcahin (also w/ ur bitch ass (affectionately) baltasar) you guys have added so much to my musings and experiences to define Mal as he continues to age as my oldest muse at like 10 years now? I genuinely appreciate it wholeheartedly. These are probably my best experiences over this whole blog’s lifespan. Also I have to throw in @vilestblood, you always made me feel so welcome and appreciated as a newcomer, it really did make the whole experience for me, and while i’m over here for now, I hope you know how often i still appreciate you. I hope I can repay all of you somehow.
○    RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS: Treating my muse(s) like he’s either a sex object/disrespecting my boundaries on his sexuality, a Villain to exclusively to fit your narrative/headcanons, or automatically assuming I condone the actions of my muse just bc I am expanding on his emotions or more positive traits. as well as just seeing him as a shipping objective — Besides the fact that I am not interested in shipping Malfatto out as he is single-ship to one character and i’m more interested in defining his friendships than another spouse.
○    FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT: I’m a whore for angst but i’m more of a hurt-comfort kind of guy tbh, I don’t mind the pain of loss and complete defeat and hopelessness, i adore depressing themes but I do want a comforting concept to end off on. I love fluff within plot and smut is the same, I don’t particularly want just baseless smut for the sake of smut (tho it can be interesting sometimes) but if it fits well, it legit makes my heart skip djdjjhdj
○    PLOTS OR MEMES: I love memes on tumblr so much, esp as an icebreaker, but I love plotting things out more extensively so I can learn more about your characters and where they can interact more personally.
○    LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: Both but I prefer longer if the short we are talking about is like one liners. Unless we are in a very fast paced setting like discord chat, one liners make me lose muse pretty quick.
○    BEST TIME TO WRITE: Anytime I can get some quiet, I admittedly cannot write in a noisy setting. My brain is too panicked with stuff going on that I can’t zone in.
○    ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): I always joke around and say that he’s the kinnie so Honestly, yes? it sounds awful to relate to the serial killing doctor, who also tortures random civilians, guards, and sex workers BUT that aside, I understand his impulsivity and I understand his traumas, at least on a semi-adjacent level. We like similar things and find comfort in the same settings, though i did not expect to build him like this. I’m enough like him that I can somewhat? understand where he is coming from mentally when he does stupid impulsive shit that eventually gets his dumbass floored while also being very aware that his reactions and opinions are not something I would even consider. He’s fun he’s like the little devil on my shoulder telling me to act on impulse and commit arson when i have anxiety even over looking like i’m shoplifting
TAGGED BY: No-one. I stole this from general tags.
TAGGING: @larosafatale @ardentfew yea idk who else is active anymore, steal it

Ngl tho, the "why do you as an adult care about what minors say all the time" arguments feel so disingenuous to me
Like, spreading misinformation about sex and kinks gets a pass just because it's a minor who's spreading it? Or when an adult is being accused of heinous crimes over their fanfics, they should just suck it up because the ones accusing them just so happen to be minors? This is so tiring. I just can't look at those arguments in good faith
That's reasonable! I think there's a threshold of reasonable push back you can and SHOULD give when people in fandom are spreading misinformation or mass harassing fan creators, regardless of age. I think it's always within reason to stand up against that and to put your foot down and refuse to allow bullying and harassment to happen in your circle or to make it clear that kind of shit is harmful and often entirely constructed on misinformation and falsehoods.
I think I've also just seen so many accounts (on Twitter, mostly, because it's a hellsite) where it seems like they're just... spending every. Single. Day. Immersed in bad takes, QRT-ing some stupid opinion a teenager has, constantly talking about antis, constantly engaged in arguments with antis, and it hits a threshold where it's like.... are you doing this because you care about freedom of expression and exploring dark or troubling topics in safe spaces anymore? Or do you just like to argue? I care a LOT about these things and I think the current puritanical pushback against queer sexuality and kink is definitely harmful and actively hurts people, but oh my god, sometimes I see people who spend every single day hunting down bad anti takes and I have to wonder when the last time they had FUN in fandom was. Like... I think there's this idea that we're fighting the good fight by arguing against these things, and I ALSO want to make sure that we have spaces safe to do so and knowledge on how these are perfectly healthy and human ways to explore subjects we would never want to encounter in real life, but once it gets to "hunting down and QRT-ing some 15 year olds bad take" it honestly just spreads those ideas to a BIGGER audience by broadcasting them, even in the form of debunking, you know?
I guess it's just a matter of, like, balance? It's so so bad for ANYONE online to constantly immerse themselves in things that upset them. That's a real problem with puritanical circles- they're constantly constantly immersed in these things they say are triggering or upsetting, and therefore go on the attack and harm people over fiction- but the opposite can be true too. Immersing yourself in a constant flood of abusive language, baseless accusations, misinformation and harassment because you are "fighting it" is bad for you! You can't spend all your time doing that, or it becomes a kind of self-harm, you know?
I will definitely admit I'm biased by my own perspective, but I will say anecdotally- I spent a good chunk of my earlier time in fandom neck-deep in the "proship vs anti" trenches and I felt... pretty consistently miserable. I was only following people who were proship, and I thought seeing bad anti takes deconstructed and taken down would make it better and more cathartic to follow these arguments, but it got to the point where every single day I was exposed to the idea that someone out there likely thought absolutely horrible things about me based on what I read/write/draw. I felt super paranoid and really scared of even creating things at all, anticipating I'd get dog piled at any moment... Eventually I realized a small handful of accounts were the ones CONSTANTLY giving traffic and attention to these harmful posts & ideas (in the form of debunking them/arguing back against them) and I unfollowed or blocked as needed to focus instead on, like. Actually just DOING the things I thought would make fandom better? Sharing kink fics or art, sharing my headcanons that could be heavier or more troubling, etc. And I have to say it feels A HUNDRED times better. I know there's still a lot of misinformation and harm out there, but I feel like it's so much more productive to me to simply... provide a good example to the alternative? To go 'hey, I'm one of those people who make and read the kinds of things that everyone says are horrible and make me a bad person.' while also doing my best to consistently be kind, supportive, communicative and show that I am in fact a happy healthy adult with good relationships and good support and people who love me? So that I can simply, focus on the positive side of what fandom and all its weird kinks and weird fiction have given me! Because these things ARE very much something that's brought a lot of positive things into my life.
Sorry, I didn't mean to soap box! I think you have a really good point- a lot of the time those arguments ARE in bad faith and are thrown at anyone who exhibits even a moment of pushback against harassment or harm just because it's coming from a minor. I just think there's also a really toxic side of the "constantly in arguments on the internet" subset of people who really need to step back and try and give themselves some healthy breathing room and cut off the onslaught of 24/7 exposure to abuse and misinfo 😔

"time moves differently firstly where Shravya is. For her, its only been decades, not centuries (which is why she's also a little confused as to how five hundred years have passed)im going off the basis that khaenri'ah doesnt move along the same time as the rest of teyvat. clearly they didnt, and im more inclined to believe there's some sort of glitch in the universe that explains a difference in the movement of time"
I only unfollow you for the most stupid baseless headcanons I have ever read
thats fine! nobody's obligated to follow me and agree with me

I have a request: what about some headcanons of how Childe, Xiao and Albedo (separately) would react to a rumor of reader cheating on them? And how would they feel once they discover it was a misunderstanding/lie, if they did believe the rumor at first?
them reacting to a rumor of you cheating
includes: childe, xiao, and albedo
warnings: mentions of cheating
Tumblr media
childe
as childe listened to two people behind him talk to each other about how they saw you getting awfully close with someone who wasn’t him, the pure anger on his face was unmistakable — even zhongli who sat beside him at xinyue kiosk noticed his sudden change in attitude. childe excused himself early from their meeting and made his way to you. his anger had subsided and turned into fear. into fear that the words he heard was true.
why wouldn’t you?
he was a bad guy. he knew you knew that, and although you had promised that you loved him no matter what, the fear of you leaving him because of that fact lingered in the back of his mind.
you were surprised at his early arrival home, and even more surprised at what he told you.
“what?” you stop whatever you were doing. “where did you hear this?”
“xinyue kiosk.” he mutters. “i know it’s dumb of me to get so upset, but—“
“well they’re wrong. i don’t know what they saw, but they were wrong.” you say firmly. “i did meet with that person, but obviously there isn’t anything going on between us. they’re a friend, of course it’ll seem like we’re close…” you explain.
“so… you weren’t…?”
“no,” you say quickly. “i would never cheat on you… god, how can people start such baseless rumors like that?” you ask.
childe feels a weight lifted off his shoulders. “you’re right… i shouldn’t have taken them so seriously.”
you walk to where he’s standing and take his hands in yours. “i promise, you’re the only one i want. i love you.” you kiss his cheek and suddenly, childe forgets why he was even scared in the first place.
Tumblr media
xiao
upon hearing your name leave the mouths of some people in liyue, xiao remembers why he avoids going there. he knows they’re lying, and that what they’re talking about never happened. they were talking about how they saw you holding hands and getting dinner with someone else the night before, however, you were with the xiao the entire day.
his anger at having to hear you be disrespected by them doesn’t fade once you see him.
“xiao? did something happen?” you ask as he steps closer. “you look angry.”
“i am,” he sighs. “don’t worry about it.”
“you should talk about it.” you say softly. “it’ll help you calm down. you know i’m here to listen.”
“no, it’s…” he pauses. “i don’t want to upset you.”
“i won’t get upset,” you promise. “i mean… i won’t think i will, at least.”
xiao sighs again. “i heard people talking about you.”
“me?”
“yes. and they were saying such… stupid things! spreading some rumor that you were on a date with someone in the city last night. but you were with me. how could they be so—“
“xiao,” you grab onto his shoulders. “relax, please? there’s no reason to get worked up.”
“but how can i stay calm when they were saying such nasty things about you?” he asks.
“because it’s not true. even if they think it is, it just isn’t. so we don’t have to worry about it. we know what’s true, and that’s not what happened.” you say.
he pauses again and takes a deep breath. “you’re right. i should’ve just ignored them in the first place… they don’t know what they’re talking about.”
“exactly,” you grin, grabbing his hand. “they’ll never know how much i love you.”
Tumblr media
albedo
albedo was confused when he heard the rumor, although it did explain why people had been looking at him funny since he arrived in the city. it just didn’t sound like something you would do. but he was too scared to confront you — he was scared you’d take it the wrong way and make you think he didn’t trust you. and he did trust you, but such serious rumours shouldn’t be taken lightly.
“oh, uh, kaeya?” he asks as the cavalry captain walks away.
kaeya turns around to show the alchemist he’s listening.
“did you… perhaps see (y/n) yesterday? with… someone else?”
kaeya’s eyebrow furrows. “not that i remember. i mean, i saw them, but they were alone. why do you ask?”
“no reason,” he replies. “just wondering.”
kaeya, deciding not to pry, simply nods. “hmm, alright. be careful heading back.”
it takes longer than usual for albedo to return to his lab, mostly because he just mindlessly walked, his head swirling with different thoughts and scenarios. what if the rumor was true? what would he do then? no, he can’t think like that. that’s only going to—
“albedo?”
he’s brought back down to earth when he hears your voice, and he realizes he completely walked past the opening to his lab. he looks back and sees your head poking out.
“hello.” he says. “sorry, i was… thinking.”
“i could tell.” you chuckle. “come inside. i made some food. we can eat and then continue this experiment.”
albedo has no appetite. but he knows he must eat, which means he must get rid of the burden weighing heavy on him.
“are you cheating on me?”
as you nearly choke on your food from how blunt his question was, albedo realizes he probably should have worded it differently.
“what?” you ask. “why are you asking me that?”
“when i went to the city with timaeus, i heard people talking about it…” he responds. “i know it’s not true, or… i don’t want it to be true…”
“i’m not cheating on you,” you reply. “i don’t know where that rumor came from, but it’s not true. i’m kind of impressed they managed to start a rumor about me, though…” you say.
“hm? why is that?”
you shrug. “i don’t know. i mean, i just kind of… exist? i do my commissions… come up here and help you with your work, and that’s it. it must be super boring if they’re making a rumor about us. i promise, i’d never do that. i love you far too much.”

Orym is secretly Ruidus born is going to be the equivalent to the Caleb is a werewolf theory from C2 for me. (Granted I hopped onto C2 long after that theory had gone out so I didn’t fall under that theory, but this is the same level of absolutely little to no evidence that I’m placing my eggs in a basket for)
Like maybe it is just a coincidence, but all I’m saying is if Orym is meant to be Ruidus in his tattoo symbolizing his relationship with Will…there’s some hefty implications there with what we know is kind of common knowledge when it comes to that little red moon. Like the superstitions about Ruidus are known throughout Exandria. So either Will and Orym just totally forgot about that or just thought those superstitions were stupid.
OR! Orym is Ruidus born and Will didn’t give two fucking shits about what people say about Ruidus born and loved his halfling husband with all his heart. (Even better if my headcanon that Will was a Moonweaver worshipper hence the relation to Catha is true)
Orym has said Will changed his life for the better. Which could mean a plethora of things since it is common thing to say about your lover. But what if he meant it in the idea that before he met Will, he had to deal with all the bullshit that comes with being Ruidus born. But once he found Will, he could accept it and honestly not care and feel okay with it enough to have it be representative of himself in a tattoo.
All completely baseless speculation, of course. Not to mention that it’s Imogen’s story seems to heavily involve Ruidus and being Ruidus born. But everything does seem more connected this campaign so who knows. If not true at all, it does make a nice fanfic idea~
