I accidentally hit my hand against my old tv real hard and had a complete autistic breakdown because I was already overstimulated
so how's your night going?
#I fixed it by getting an anger attack#which was a reaction not a fix#but then I blasted music until the tears started and I just felt hurt and upset and sad#so then I listened to the light behind your eyes and into the cave we wander so I could cry it out#im still a bit of a mess now tho#and I realised I hadn't eaten basically the entire day#so that was a fun time for me while making dinne#and before I could eat I had to hang up the laundry I forgot about#so basically it was my adhd and autism both destroying me today#I genuinely don't understand how and why I am considered responsible and safe enough to live by myself working a 45h job#but I guess that's just because mental healthcare in the Netherlands is absolute fucking garbage and destroys more than it heals#so my mom avoided that whole bs system like the plague#they will deadass tell you you can't study or work if you have adhd/autism#like???#I can't work an overstimulating job for 9h a day#I can't be held responsible for deadlines (even if I will somehow still make them I have a bachelor's degree come on)#because they stress me out into in-action#but I am intelligent#I have tons and tons of little tricks to make life easier#I have pretty bad dyslexia but I also write novels#and no one's commented on errors because there is no difference to any other author#which was also noticeable in school#I have dyscalculia but I love maths and am good at it#it's very simple: even if the letters and numbers float around and get mixed up I am capable of slowing myself down enough to fix errors#literally I taught myself to pay extra attention to everything I say and do#I am a perfectionist so it feels like the end of the world any time someone notes a mistake I made#rationally I know it's fine#but emotionally I feel like a freak if I ever make a mistake#anyway I went off on a rant#today sucked ass and I am already feeling the stress of having to go to work on Monday without being well-rested

The music was too loud already and there were way too many people. You were regretting your decision to come but when you really thought about it, you weren’t sure what was worse. Your alternative was being stuck home, with one person and one person only, running through your mind and clouding your every thought.
As if he wasn’t still. You huffed and tried to move past a group of girls who were crowded around the bar already obviously drunk off their asses. You really never saw the appeal.
But Eva begged and you really had nothing better to do. A thought at the back of your mind was vaguely aware that if Bucky knew where you were right now, he’d be pissed. And that gave you more motivation to not bail on your best friend for the thousandth time since Bucky entered your life.
You reached the bar and when the bartender finally made his way down to you, you gave him the order Eva and her friends asked for. It took way longer than it should have to make those drinks and you were tempted to just walk behind the bar and do it yourself when you felt someone come up beside you. You didn’t want to look away from the bartender as he poured the drinks, just in case, but when the person next to you got too close for comfort, you had to.
“Can I help you?” you shouted loudly over the deafening music, looking up at the beefiest man you’d ever seen in your life. You recognized him from around the shop, but you hadn’t been introduced before. And certainly had never been so up close. He looked like an actual god and you realized you were staring with your mouth open when the bartender got your attention again with the drinks. You looked back at him for only a second before the man spoke.
“The real question is, can I help you,” he said, voice effortlessly booming over the music and drunken partying.
“No. I’m good,” you moved to turn back to the bar and grab the drinks.
“Does Bucky know you’re here?” he asked. You narrowed your eyes and scoffed.
“No, but I’m sure he’s gonna find out real soon, won’t he,” you said sarcastically as you brushed past him.
You weren’t gonna let him ruin your night. You deserved to have fun. Not that this was really your idea of fun, but fuck it. You had gotten ready at Eva’s and her and her friends convinced you to wear the tightest dress you had and helped you do your hair. You were wearing a smokey eye, a nude lip, and your black pumps you saved for special occasions and had only actually worn twice before. You looked, dare you say, hot. And you felt gorgeous. Part of you was kind of hoping that man, Thor, you thought, would tell Bucky you were here. You wanted him to show up and see you. See that you weren’t sulking at home waiting for him to come back. That you had other things to do. You didn’t want to think back to earlier that morning. You hadn’t gotten in a fight that big since before you had moved in with him. And it was upsetting. A clash of the world’s biggest egos.
You approached Eva and the other girls and handed out their drinks.
“Where’s yours?” a blonde girl, Billie, asked you. She sounded almost shocked, you had to laugh.
You wondered how you hadn’t met any of them before, they were all so nice and welcoming, from the moment you pulled up to Eva’s place. Definitely people you could call friends, and hopefully you would. Get back into living your life with Bucky beside you rather than your whole life being Bucky.
“She isn’t much for drinking,” Eva answered for you with a laugh of her own.
You smiled and then were annoyed again when you saw Thor looking over at you from the bar as he spoke on his phone.
“Yeah, well, you only live once, right?” you tried to talk yourself up. You walked back over there and went behind the counter, poured yourself a shot of tequila, and slammed it down.
You could hear the girls cheering and you saw Thor laughing as you winced at the burn. You slid at twenty to the bartender as he eyed you like you were insane before he looked back to Thor. He was still on the phone, with Bucky you assumed, a smirk on his face as he seemed to nod at the guy, as if telling him it was alright. That’s when you remembered who the new owners of this once rundown club were. Most people only spoke of Loki being the new owner, but you knew it was a joint investment between the brothers. And you and Loki were..kinda friends. Nearly every Tuesday you, Peter, Kate, Loki, and Yelena were kept out of the meetings they had at the shop but were still expected to show up. Well not you, but Bucky usually brought you along with him anyway. He said Peter and Kate were too worried about proving themselves that he couldn’t trust them to hear something and not act on it as soon as they could and that he didn’t trust Yelena or Loki with everything. You weren’t sure why, but you guessed he had his reasons.
Whatever they were, it caused the five of you to have your own meetings of sorts. By meetings, you meant evenings that usually just entailed you guys talking shit and fucking around the shop. It was fun.
You knew Loki wouldn’t care that you were making your own drinks and obviously Thor didn’t either.
“It’s cool, I’m a bartender, too,” you shouted to the guy with a stupid grin on your face.
You made yourself a drink and sauntered back over to your group.
Tumblr media
You never drank, really, so how could you have known you’d be such a lightweight? And good god you were very talkative when you were drunk, another new discovery about yourself.
It couldn’t have been that long between you finishing your second drink and Bucky showing up but you were hammered.
He was pissed and you couldn’t care less. You saw him walking toward you guys and you sucked your teeth as you watched him get closer until he was right in front of you.
“Bucky,” Eva greeted, annoyed as she looked him up and down.
“This is Bucky?!” Pen shouted as she tried to follow along with what was happening.
“You’re really hot,” Amber said admiringly. “Don’t worry, I’m a lesbian, I’m not hitting on him,” she rushed to assure you.
“I know, you’ve been telling everyone all night,” you giggled and she did the same.
“I gave you some time to have fun but I’ve been calling you for the past hour,” he nearly growled as he grabbed your arm. “You’re drunk, let’s go.”
“My phone died,” you defended. “And even if it hadn’t, I wouldn’t have answered,” you said defiantly as you tried not to slur your words. “I don’t wanna talk to you.”
Eva and Billie being the only two who were still sober tried to calm things down.
“Sweetie,” Eva began, “you really are drunk. Normally I’d be on your side and tell him to fuck off, but I think maybe you should go. You’ve literally never had this much to drink in your life and you’re gonna be regretting it in the morning.”
Billie went to the bar and came back with waters for you, Pen, and Amber before she checked her phone. “Shit, it’s way late,” she said disappointed.
“We should all be leaving, anyway.”
The entire time they were talking you were glaring up at Bucky, everything you wanted to say to him running through your hazy head.
Eva touched your shoulder, “I’m gonna call you tomorrow.”
Her and the girls said bye as Billie and Eva were ushering Amber and Pen to the car you guys came in, making sure they didn’t fall.
You and Bucky followed suit.
“You’re lucky you have good friends,” he said as he watched them get to the car.
“Don’t talk to me,” you said as you batted his arm off of you.
“You’re drunk,” he said again.
“Oh, really? I had no idea! You know what, Bucky, you are such an asshole, you know that? I was having fun, hanging out with friends! Friends! I have friends. And I was having a good time no thanks to you! And ya know what, I look soo good and you haven’t even said that I look good, you don’t even appreciate it. No, actually don’t even look at me,” you slurred as you tried to block his eyes, “you don’t deserve to look at me. You know who would deserve to look at me? Hm? A good partner who loves and cares about me and doesn’t force me to do things I don’t wanna do. Because I don’t- I just - I don’t wanna meet her, okay?!” you shouted.
Bucky stared down at you as you ranted and slurred, almost amused until you said that. You could have sworn you saw a look of hurt flash across his eyes.
“You’re drunk,” he said mostly to himself this time.
“You’re mean,” you shot back. You didn’t want to argue, not about that. Not again. You’d try to let it go for now, though you knew you’d get back to it when you were sober.
Obviously, Bucky felt the same as he let the topic slide, moving back to your earlier grievance.
“You’re right, I am mean. How could I see you looking the way you do and not compliment you right away?” He appeased. And in all honesty, it was the first time he was really taking in your appearance tonight. Your eyes were dazed and sparkly, your skin was dewy and lips pouty. You were wearing the dress he bought you that you previously refused to put on because you thought it wouldn’t look right. You were wrong, because it looked perfect. You were perfect, he thought.
On top of that, he would always be a sucker for the way you’d go off on him. You always looked so cute and pouty and he couldn’t deny he loved when you’d yell at him like that.
He smirked down at you as you looked at him doe eyed, waiting for him to go on.
“You look,” he began before lowering himself to talk in your ear, his arm finding your back and pulling you closer to him, “so goddamn fuckable.” he said huskily.
You didn’t know your eyes could go any wider, but they definitely did. Your mouth went dry and you suddenly found yourself getting very horny. His scent was wrapped around you and you were puddy in his hands as you preened. Your dumb, drunk brain completely forgetting any and all arguments you had previously. One track mind now dead set on getting Bucky to fuck you. Sober you never expected drunk you to be like this. But here you were.
“You think I’m fuckable?” you asked dumbly, staring up at him, eyes soon locking on his lips as your hands grabbed at his jacket to steady yourself.
He chuckled and nodded at you before cursing under his breath.
“I really wasn’t expecting to find you drunk, or I would’ve brought the car.”
“I’ve never had sex in a car,” you mused drunkenly.
“You’ve never had sex in a lot of places,” he responded. “We can change that.”
“Okay,” you agreed, suddenly feeling coy as you looked down fighting a smile.
You pushed yourself further into his warmth and let your hand wander down the front of his jeans, palming him through the denim. You heard him let out a heavy breath and you bit your lip as you felt him getting hard beneath your touch.
You didn’t have the patience to wait until you got home, you wanted him right then and there, with no regard to who was around or could see. You hooked a finger through his belt loop and tugged, trying to make that clear without having to say it.
He clenched his jaw as he debated his options. Would you be mad tomorrow if you had sex while you were this drunk? You were coming on really strong, so he figured it was fine, right? He could try and get you home on his bike, but honestly, was worried you wouldn’t hold on well enough. He could walk you down a couple blocks back to the shop. He could take you back inside the club and find an empty room in there. As he was debating what to do, where to go, you tugged him further along the sidewalk before pulling him into the alleyway on the side of the club. It was empty and no one was around and you were the one pulling him, so this was really your idea. Your drunk idea, but still. He couldn’t talk himself out of it when he saw you practically tearing his pants off after shoving him against the brick wall. Down on your knees in front of him looking so fucking perfect, he couldn’t deny you this if he wanted to. Though he definitely didn’t want to.
He took his jacket off and pulled you up briefly while he threw it down on the asphalt, giving you something to kneel on as he helped you back down.
With his pants down, you readily pulled his cock out and pumped him in your soft hand, the other holding his thigh as you kept your balance. Bucky was breathing heavier already and when you licked his leaking tip, he hissed at the sensation.
You took his hard cock into your warm mouth and started working him in and out past your lips, your head bobbing on him as you sucked and traced your tongue along the veins on his shaft.
Bucky’s hand held your head while he threw his back, eyes squeezed shut for a second before returning to watching the precious sight of you sucking him off as you held his thighs, saliva leaking from your lips as you took him deeper and deeper. He was panting and cursing as your nose nuzzled the patch of hair around the base of his cock while you took him further into your mouth. His hands held you there for a moment as you gagged and struggled to breathe around him.
“Fuck, yes, sweetheart,” he groaned before he let you go and you pulled back to get some air. Your chin was slick with saliva as you smiled up at his blissed out face. You moved to take him back in your mouth, but he stopped you, pulling you to your feet instead. You stumbled into him as you tried to keep yourself upright in your heels and your hand found his still hard cock again. It was pulsing and god you just wanted it back in your mouth, to feel him on your tongue again. Instead you just lazily pumped him, rubbing up against him as you wanted to be as close as you could be.
Bucky’s hand found the hem of your dress and pulled it up as best he could before you dropped your hand and he quickly spun you around and pushed you up against the wall. He got your dress further up your body and tisked when he realized you weren’t wearing any underwear, sending you a dark look that filled you with a thrill and anticipation.
“It’s a tight dress, I didn’t want pantylines,” you said breathily.
“That the only reason, huh? You sure you weren’t expecting me to show up and remind you who you belong to, wanted to give me easy access?” he taunted as he stood to his full height and towered over you, keeping you pinned to the wall. Your lower half was on full display for anyone who might look down the alley and that somehow thrilled you even more, at least with Bucky above you it did. The sound of drunken laughter ever now and again and hearing people walking by every so often, it was exhilarating. Anyone could see, yeah, but Bucky would be sure you were safe and protected - there was nothing to worry about, you reasoned while alcohol was still in your system.
You suddenly felt his hand on your pussy as he rubbed you, finding you dripping for him as you mewled at his touch. You arched your back, wiggling your hips against him as you wanted more. He laughed and leaned down to kiss you, slapping your wet cunt, causing you to yelp in surprise, both at the action and the sensation it elicited in you while the noise you made was lost in his mouth.
“I’ll finger you in public some other time, princess, but right now I’m gonna fuck you stupid on my cock,” he said headily as he pulled you off the wall, picking you up before pressing your back against it again, his hands now behind your thighs, holding you up effortlessly.
You grabbed his cock and lined him up against you before he slid inside you, your walls welcoming him in as they squeezed him tightly, your wetness helping him easily fuck into you harder and harder as you moaned and whined. Far too loud, and you didn’t even realize it. But Bucky loved it. So what if someone saw.
As you were pressed against the wall, your hands slid into his hair, tugging on it as he groaned hotly.
“Bucky,” you gasped, mewling in pleasure as his thick cock hit against your g-spot. You were dazed with drunkenness and the pleasure of his every thrust, perfectly stimulating your clit and hitting your g-spot each time he moved against and inside of you. The double stimulation was incredible. Every nerve was on end as he rocked into you, his large hands keeping you steady as he held you.
He was breathing heavily, panting and groaning against you as you both got closer and closer your arms wrapping around his neck, pulling his face to yours.
“Amber’s right,” you panted, “you’re so hot,” you said before crashing your lips into his sloppily, nipping his lower lip as you let him go.
“God, it’s so good,” you wanted to cry as you whined out your pleasure.
“You like being fucked in public, is that it? Want everyone to see exactly what I do to you. You pulled me into an alley and basically begged me to fuck you like a little slut because you want everyone to know, don’t you. You want them to watch me fuck you, want them to see you come undone all over my cock, don’t you princess. You want them to know who you belong to,
“Don’t worry, baby,” he grinned against your skin, “they know. Fuck, do they know,” he groaned out as he started to lose his rhythm slightly. “Ah, fuck, I’m gonna come. Gonna fill your tight pussy full of me,” he cursed as your walls tightened around him again, his words bringing you even further to the brink of your orgasm. You were gasping and moaning and he didn’t let up his movements, instead, pressing you further into the wall and holding you up with his metal arm, he slid his warm fingers up your thigh before circling your clit and rubbing in tight circles, the added pressure all you needed to finish.
Your walls were clenching around his cock as you came hard, crying out his name in a fit of pure ecstasy.
Bucky was cursing and groaning as you squeezed him, bringing him over the edge with you. He buried himself as deep inside you as he could and you felt his release hitting your warm walls, filling you up, his metal hand squeezing your ass harshly as he came.
When you both caught your breath a little bit, he gently lowered your feet back down, making sure to keep a hold on your waist so you wouldn’t fall. He pushed you back against the wall and lowered down to kiss you hard. He pulled back as you sucked your lower lip into your mouth, licking it and lightly pressing your teeth into it before letting it go, staring down at him as he lowered into a squat before you.
He spread your legs and admired his come flooding your pussy, rubbing his hand along your cunt, spreading his come all around before finger fucking some of it deeper inside you. You were breathless and weak as you leaned against the wall, letting him have his way with you as you drunkenly reveled in the sensations of his continued stimulation. He didn’t stop, only pumped faster before taking your sensitive clit in his mouth, sucking on it and flicking his tongue over the bundle of nerves deliberately while you cried out.
You came again on his thick fingers as he chuckled like he always did at your sensitivity. He loved how easily he could make you come for him, even just on his fingers.
He tucked himself back into his jeans and pulled your dress back down for you before grabbing his jacket off the ground.
“Fuck, Bucky,” you muttered softly while a smirk graced his beautiful face.
You were looking dazed and satisfied as you leaned into him, he wrapped his arm around you as he walked you back out of the alley and onto the sidewalk again, probably heading back into the club to find you somewhere comfortable to sit while you would wait for the car he called to come. No way you were getting home on his bike now. He looked up to the side of the building as you passed it and eyed the security camera that was there, making a note to ensure Loki deletes the footage. After he gets a copy for himself, of course.

Fem!reader trying to figure out Rebecca’s love language by trying the five (doesn’t matter which one you choose to make her main love language) 💕
Love this idea!! Thanks for the request! 💕
Tumblr media
"So, are you and Rebecca getting more serious?" Keeley asks with a raised eyebrow.
"I don't know, I don't think so." You say as you scroll on your phone, the two of you having lunch in her new office.
"Why not?! You two have been together for months!"
You toss your phone onto the couch.
"Ugh, I don't know, I mean we get on really well, but I feel like there's something missing, but not like something's missing where it doesn't exist, I don't know." You sigh and lay back on the couch, cradling a pillow.
"Do you want it to get more serious? Or are you cool with this casual thing you've got going on?"
"I don't know, I mean, yes I'd love to get more serious with her, but, I also don't want to ruin what we have, you know? I haven't been able to connect with her on that deeper level yet I think."
"Well I've know you've both gone deeper in other ways!" She laughs.
"Keeley!!" You throw a pillow at her and laugh. "I'm serious! I really like her and I really want this to work." You bury your face into the pillow in your lap.
"Well do you know what her love language is?" She asks, you look up at her.
"No? I don't even know what that is."
"WHAT?! Oh my god come here we're gonna find out what yours is." She runs around to her desk and pulls up some online quiz.
You sit at her desk chair and look at her confused. Keeley explains the five love languages, words of affirmation, acts of service, quality time, physical touch and gifts.
"Huh." You say and take the test, you immediately get your results and find out what yours are:
Words of Affirmation, 2. Physical Touch, 3. Quality Time, 4. Acts of Service, 5. Gifts.
"Yeah that makes sense." Keeley says looking at your results.
"I guess so, but how do I find out what hers are? Just make her take this quiz?"
"No! That's not romantic, you should try to figure them out, just go down the list and try them and see which one she responds best to!"
"If you say so." You say looking at the list. You're definitely nervous but wiling to try.
You head back to the office and think of what her love language might be. "Well, I think she likes getting things, so maybe gifts?" You think to yourself. You're going on a date with her later tonight so you pick up some flowers and head back to work.
You get home, get ready for you date and leave. You get to the restaurant before Rebecca and you decide to wait outside for her. Her car pulls up and she hands her keys to the valet and sees you.
"There you are." She says with a smile.
She walks up to you and looks down at the flowers.
"What are those?" She asks with a smile.
"I got you flowers," you say sheepishly. "I saw them and thought they were pretty and I decided to get them for you."
"Aw." She says and gives you a kiss. "Thank you."
You both head inside, sit down at the table and order.
"So, do you like getting gifts?" You ask, unsure if she really liked it or was just being nice.
She pauses for a moment. "Yeah, I mean I don't dislike it." She says but quickly follows up with "but I love the flowers, they're beautiful."
"I'm glad." You say with a smile.
"Why do you ask?"
"No reason, when I was buying them I realized I wasn't even sure if you liked getting stuff so I figured I'd ask." You say and take a sip of wine.
"Don't get me wrong, I like it, but Rupert would love bomb me with all of these lavish, expensive things all the time and after a while it stopped being special, especially since he would do it every time I thought he was cheating on me, which he was, but used that as a way to distract me. It got quite old fast."
"Aw, yeah that definitely takes the fun out of it." You say.
"Yeah, a bit."
Gifts were out, you decide to try out acts of service next.
A few weeks later you have your next date, Rebecca invites you over her house for dinner and you offer to cook. When dinner is finished she goes to clean the table.
"That was amazing, thank you so much for cooking." She says.
"Of course! I'm glad you liked it. Here, let me get that." You say getting up.
"No it's okay," she says with a smile.
"No really, it's okay I don't mind."
"But you cooked!"
"I know,"
"How about we clean up together then?" She suggests.
Knowing you won't win you agree. "Okay, fine."
There goes acts of service. Two down, three left.
You load the dishwasher as you look over at her wiping down the table. You lean against the counter and just watch her for a minute. Even doing something so mundane, she looks beautiful. You really, really care about her and you want to take this to the next level. She looks over and catches you staring at her.
"What are you looking at?" She says with a smile.
"Nothing, I just- it's crazy how beautiful you look doing literally everything."
She smiles and walks over to you and puts her hands on your hips and kisses you. You look into her eyes for a minute and get lost in them.
"What?" She says.
"Nothing, I was just thinking about how lucky I am that I have you in my life. You're amazing."
Her lips curl into a smile and she puts her hands on your face and pulls you in for a kiss.
Words of affirmation definitely works, but you're not sure if that's her main love language. You're getting restless so you try and combine the last two.
"Wanna put on comfy clothes and watch a movie?" You ask.
"I would love to." She says with a smile.
You both change and she meets you on the couch.
"What do you want to watch? A horror movie?" She asks.
"Absolutely not." You say with a laugh.
"Right, I forgot you were terribly boring." She says teasing you.
You scoff and go to tickle her. "I am not!"
"No no no!!" She says laughing and grabs your hands after you're able to get a few pokes in. "I fucking hate that."
"Right, I forgot you were terribly boring." You say imitating her with a laugh.
She laughs and gives you a playful scowl and grabs the remote. You come across a rom-com you both haven't seen and decide to watch it. She lays across the couch and drapes her legs over your lap, you put your hand on her calf and gently stroke it with your thumb.
"Do you want a foot rub, or a backrub or something?" You ask.
She sits up and pauses the movie and looks at you.
"You have been so weird lately. What is going on?"
"Ugh," you rest your head on her knee as it's bent over your legs. You look up at her.
"What?" She asks, looking at you with a hint of concern in her eyes.
"A few weeks ago I was talking to Keeley and she told me about the five love languages, and I had never heard about them and I realized I didn't know what yours were so she told me to try and figure it out because it was more romantic than just asking you."
"Seven."
"What?"
"There are actually seven love languages." She says.
"What!? What are the other two?!"
"Expression of affection and love is one of them. The other, which happens to be mine, is communication. Those two might not be official ones actually. But I liked them so I count them."
"Shit!! So I was never gonna get it then."
She laughs as she adjusts and sits back on her heels facing you.
"Afraid not." She says with a smile.
"What even is the communication love language?!"
"Just simple communication, talking to one another, being honest, explaining what you're experiencing or feeling, telling your partner what your needs are, things like that. I lacked that so much in my last relationship, I don't think I can ever be with someone again without being able to really communicate with each other. But if we're talking about the traditional five, I think mine is words of affirmation."
"Well then," you say grabbing her hand. "I'm sorry that I didn't communicate that I was trying to find out your love languages."
Her eyes sparkle when you say that to her, you can tell that just acknowledging her love language meant so much to her.
"So why were you and Keeley talking about love languages anyway?"
You chuckle and your cheeks turn a light shade of pink.
"She had asked if we were getting more serious and I told her I really wanted to, but I felt like there was a piece missing," you see her eyes get a little sad and you grab her hand. "And I said it's not like there's something missing that doesn't exist between us, more like something that was an obstacle, that stopped us from going there. I don't know how to describe it, but I know it's there, I just didn't know how to get there." You furrow your brows, not being able to correctly express your thoughts. "I don't know if any of that made sense."
You see her relax a little and she studies your face.
"Do you want to get more serious?"
You take a deep breath, fearful that she'll reject the idea.
"Yes. I do, but I'm so afraid of fucking up what we have, because I really, really like what we have." You pause and sheepishly look at her. "But I also really want to call you my girlfriend, and be able to be affectionate with each other in public, around our friends. Just, be a real couple I guess."
She continues to study your face as she smiles.
"Do you want to get more serious?" You cautiously ask.
"I would like that very much."
"Really?" You look deep into her eyes.
Rebecca nods her head and cups your face in her hands and kisses you. Her tongue slides into your mouth and your tongue dances around hers. She climbs into your lap and you slide one hand up to the back of her neck and hold onto her waist with the other as she holds your face in her hands. The kiss continues and eventually your lips slowly part. You study each others faces for a moment before Rebecca breaks the silence.
"I never asked, what's your love language?"
"Words of affirmation, physical touch," You pause and try to remember the rest. "Quality time, acts of service and gifts. What were the rest of yours? The normal five." You say with a laugh.
"Words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service," She pauses to think. "Physical touch and gifts."
You two stare into each others eyes for a moment and smile, taking in every detail of the others face.
"I can't imagine my life without you." Rebecca says as she looks into your eyes.
You feel your heart soar at her words, you look back into her eyes with a smile on your face.
"It's a little scary." She says.
The happiness on your face melts into worry.
"I already know I can very easily fall in love with you. But you're worth it."
You feel your eyes get glossy at her words. Every fear you had about losing what you have with her vanishes.
"I already am, and I wouldn't want to fall in love with anyone else."
She's touched by your words, even a little surprised, but very happy. She smiles at you and you both pull each other closer for another kiss. After a few minutes of making out you part and cuddle into each other. She buries her face into your neck and you lay your head on hers. Your arms wrapped around her as she sits in your lap. You're distracted by the tv automatically shutting off since the movie was paused for so long.
"So much for the movie." You say with a giggle.
"Oh well," she says. "I'd much rather do this anyway."
"Me too."

TOP TEN GAMES I BEAT THIS YEAR
In 2023, I completed 34 games, from Final Fantasy VII to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion to PaRappa the Rapper. These are my ten favorite, in order, and a little writeup of each I had a LOT of fun doing. Enjoy!
10. DARK SOULS
Tumblr media
It’s a game I had to want to like, and maybe more than any of the others on the list, I had to meet it halfway. I’m a fan of challenging games, and - stop me if you’ve heard this one before - Dark Souls is pretty hard. But it’s not bullshit. Mostly. I ran into some hard walls here and there, but those walls turned into my favorite fights in the game once I finally mastered them. The reason it’s so low on the list is because the back half is… Well, it’s not very good, folks. Of the four bosses you need to defeat to open the door to the final area, I could call two of them good fights, and I could only do one of those without hesitating.
9. THE CASE OF THE GOLDEN IDOL
Tumblr media
I love a detective game, and what makes Golden Idol really stand out is its incredible format and mechanics. Given a series of still* images, and the contents of a bunch of random people’s pockets, can you determine what happened? It feels cheap to compare games and not just speak about what I enjoyed of a game of its own merits, but I can’t talk about this game without talking about Return of the Obra Dinn, which had a similar sort of ‘fill in the blank’ approach to its mysteries. Golden Idol’s supernatural elements, twists and reveals, and charmingly off-putting art style lend themselves well to one of the most unique games I played this year.
8. SIFU
Tumblr media
This is the best rhythm game I played this year. Finding the flow of Sifu’s combat felt like a dance, going from a steady beat to a frenetic scramble in the span of a single missed step. I’ve never hidden the fact that I’m a massive sucker for good movement in games, and Sifu’s jives extraordinarily well with its combat and environments. Really, the only problem I had with Sifu was that it felt a bit short - well, and it didn’t quite deliver the challenge I was looking for, but that’s the fault of whoever described it to me as a Soulslike first just because it has, like… a revival mechanic? Also, the first time it transitioned to a side view for a hallway fight, it basically secured a spot on this list.
7. GHOST TRICK
Tumblr media
I tried to play through this game in high school, but got stalled out on some puzzle or another. I honestly don’t remember which, but I’m SO glad I came back to it. I’ve always loved Shu Takumi’s writing and character work in the Ace Attorney series; Ghost Trick is just as good, if not better than any individual AA game in that regard. Really, the characters feel like the ones in the AA spinoffs like Investigations, Great Ace Attorney, or the Layton crossover, which are some of the best characters in the series - but with none of the self-defeating energy of having to be largely unimportant to the mainline games. Also, Missile might be the greatest character in video games ever.
6. PARADISE KILLER
Tumblr media
Some games make you fervently pitch their merits to friends, hoping that they’ll play it so you can chat with someone who gets it. This is the fate of many detective games, which live and die in the territory of spoilers. There are detective games that try to get around this by having procedurally generated cases or multiple endings with multiple ‘real’ culprits, which can often be antithetical to what makes a detective game truly sing. Paradise Killer’s answer is that not only is it never going to tell you what the truth is, but that ambiguity is the point. The clues never change, and the only objective is to find a truth that satisfies you. All that is made even better by the premise being steeped in synths and neon, with a vibrantly occult cast who are all just the absolute fucking worst.
5. TEARS OF THE KINGDOM
Tumblr media
I mean, come on. It’s Tears of the Kingdom. While I’d really hoped for playable Zelda, what we did get of the character was far more moving than whatever her deal usually is. The chasm was an incredible surprise, and since Skyward Sword is one of my favorite Zelda games, I had a ton of fun with the skydive mechanics. There’s also the building system, which managed the near impossible feat of having things control basically how you’d expect them to once you slapped a steering wheel on them. It felt like there was just so much love for the previous games in the series, without being overly reliant on them. If I had to pick a favorite moment in the game, it would have to be during the Wind Temple’s boss fight, when the Dragon Roost Island theme from Wind Waker cut through the track and made me feel like I could have taken on Ganondorf with a tree branch in that moment.
4. PERSONA 5 ROYAL/PERSONA 5 STRIKERS/PERSONA Q2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is this cheating? Yes. But hear me out. I knew Royal was going to be on the list, and then it turned out that I liked Strikers and Q2 as much, if not more than Royal. While Royal has higher highs, it also has much lower lows - Strikers and Q2 don’t engage in nearly as much of the weak parts of Royal. But they also don’t function even a little bit without it. Strikers dragged in the gameplay department a little bit, but I loved being able to play as every Phantom Thief - and Q2 was such a vast improvement over Q1 in pretty much every department. So my number four spot on my top ten games of the year is ‘every game I played this year that has Akira Kurusu in it.’ So, since I started Tactica, maybe that counts too… and if you want to be technical, I think I played a few rounds of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in June, so I guess that has the number four spot too.
3. ARMORED CORE 6
Tumblr media
In 2023, I really and truly entered my mech era. I built Gunpla this year, I started playing in a really fun new Lancer campaign, and I played the shit out of Armored Core 6. I’d never played one before, but I was hooked from the tutorial boss alone. I beat the game once and, at the advice of a few friends, started a new game plus run - and before I knew it, I’d already beaten it again. I’ll do a third run too, at some point. Once I learned the all-consuming power of the pile bunker, I was out there decimating the arena foes like nothing else - and, once I figured out how to time out my missile strikes, I managed to slam through 75% of the final boss’ health in a single blow. That was the single most satisfying hit of this year across any game. Oh, and - keep an eye out, because I have a hankering to write some Maeterlinck-focused fic at some point. Because I sure do love me my one-off characters.
2. SCARLET NEXUS
Tumblr media
Up until the final entry swung through and claimed the top spot, Scarlet Nexus seemed like a complete and total shoo-in for number one. Very few games have ever motivated me to complete them to the degree I did this one, including getting all Steam achievements and a ton of the optional content in game you don’t need for that. Kasane and Yuito are endearing protagonists with cool powers, genuine flaws, and vastly different outlooks. There were some plot threads from chapter one I thought had been dropped, but as it turns out they were only really dropped in Kasane’s story, and were far more focused on in Yuito’s, while he didn’t engage with most of her whole deal until the endgame. She spends most of her story dealing with causality and time travel, and he doesn’t even know time travel is a thing at all until there’s maybe 25% of the game left. And at the end, it still manages to feel complete coming from either side. The supporting cast is extremely strong, too, and the way powers flow together make the fights feel dynamic, fun, and tie to the themes of combining disparate people to make things better for everyone - to stop holding onto the past and strive for a better future, no matter how much work it takes.
1. 13 SENTINELS: AEGIS RIM
Tumblr media
You should play this game. There’s no two ways about it. It’s a severely underrated title with incredible art, writing, gameplay, voice acting - 13 Sentinels fires on all cylinders. It’s half visual novel walkarounds with the occasional puzzle, exploring the individual stories of the thirteen protagonists across a variety of genres. One character is doing 80s high school movie hijinks with his exposition-loving best friend, while another is trying to solve the disappearance of her best friend. Said best friend is engaging in escapades with a small alien just like her favorite UFO movies, and a fourth guy entirely is doing Blade Runner shit. At one point, there’s a character who has appeared fairly infrequently and finally becomes available to play, and when he appears on the select screen, he’s standing in front of a sea of flames while the other characters typically appear in front of schoolrooms, city streets, their own homes. The emotional beat when you click through and hear him start talking about how he’s proud to be enlisting as a Japanese soldier in 1944 is one of the strongest in the game. Each story weaves around another and provides further depth to events you’ve already seen, while the entire chronological story is combined into a single timeline of events you’re free to look at whenever. But then, on the other side of the game from the character stories, you have the fights - or, rather, the fight. Because the combat side of things all takes place within  pretty much a single day - a grueling, nonstop battle where the characters must drive away wave after wave after wave of invaders without letting even a single one through. Each has their own mechs and certain special abilities that gear them for different scenarios, and if you want to experience everything, you have to bounce back and forth between the stories and the fighting, constantly unlocking aspects of the other. The biggest problem with the game is just choice paralysis - there’s so much to do, it’s hard to know where to start. But once you’re able to bite into it, chipping away at the Gordian plot rewards you with a deeply moving story about the plight of a generation thrust into a ceaseless strife, burdened by the heavy expectations of their predecessors to finally solve it and the even heavier feeling that there just are no answers to find in the first place. And also, there are sick as fuck giant mechs. I told you I was in my mech era this year.

Steam Next Fest, winter 2024. Just when you're starting to get into a groove with a project, something new comes up to distract you. So it goes.
This one was all over the map — some games I really liked, a few that were kind of a letdown, and a few that were just sort of there. I think this is the first time a batch of demos has removed more items from my Steam wishlist than it's added. More detailed (though perhaps less organized) thoughts under the cut.
Okay so Balatro doesn't really count, I've been playing the demo for this game for months at this point, but I want to mention it anyway. It's a deckbuilder in the purest sense: you're given a plain deck of cards and tasked with scoring points via poker hands, accumulating a variety of buffs and modifiers to literally rig the deck in your favor. It is perhaps the most make number go up game I have played in a good while, and it's addicting as heck. I know some folks who will be playing the full version nonstop when it comes out later this month, and I might be one of 'em.
As far as city/settlement builders go, I don't think Synergy is jumping to the front of the queue when it has to compete with the likes of Laysara or The Wandering Village, but it does have some neat ideas. I do enjoy when I get to treat this sort of builder like a puzzle of sorts, fitting all of the pieces together, and the ways this demo asked me to do so on both small and large scale were just interesting enough to pique my curiosity. Might be worth a look in the future.
Now, a quick rundown of the demos that didn't land quite as well: Planetiles and Kamaeru had charming aesthetics, but the UI in both games felt a bit clunky and the gameplay left me wanting a bit more substance. Train Valley World moved away from the gameplay I enjoyed in the previous two entries in the series, in favor of something I'm not particularly interested in. There were a few other games I found while putting together my list this time around, but either bounced off of (Electrogical, Bounties of Babylon) or didn't get enough to pass judgement (Omnibullet, Overmorrow), so I may need to revisit them later.
Somewhere in the middle, I'd say, was Aarik and the Ruined Kingdom, a Monument Valley-esque puzzle game. It was… alright. I liked it, I just liked most of the other stuff I tried more. I need to sit down and play Monument Valley at some point.
There are two games on this list I'm torn on. Flock is a cute exploration game that reminds me of Sky: Children of the Light and charmed me in very similar ways. Customizing a character, flying around, and observing the game's colorful ecosystem was a lot of fun. Botany Manor is a puzzle game somewhere between The Witness and Return of the Obra Dinn, where you gather clues in your environment and use them to piece together answers to a central puzzle — in this case, figuring out how to make various plants grow. Some neat ideas to be had here.
I really liked both of these demos! But both of them ran into the same problem: I get motion-sick kind of easily, and there's a small subset of video games that make me dizzy if I play them for too long (and sometimes "too long" is, like, five minutes). To its credit, Botany Manor acknowledges this and has options to make it more accessible… but if there's a specific configuration of camera settings that doesn't give me a literal headache, I didn't find it. It's really frustrating that some of the games I enjoyed the most in this list are ones I'm not sure I can physically handle in the long term. I'll keep an eye on them, but… we'll see.
Moving on. Duck Detective is another "fill in the blanks" mystery in the vein of Case of the Golden Idol or the aforementioned Obra Dinn. It's a much more humorous and lighthearted take on the idea, and while the demo was pretty short, it gave a decent enough look at the gameplay and style that I'm interested in what lies beyond.
#BLUD immediately stands out for its hyper-cartoony art style, which it definitely leans into (it's got episode title cards, for crying out loud). It backs up that style with some charming writing and a decent Zelda-ish mix of exploration and dungeon crawling. I'm not sure the combat entirely clicked with me, especially early on before your character gets a proper weapon, but I still liked the demo well enough overall.
Crypt Custodian also took some time to grow on me, but when I did get into a groove I wound up having a pretty good time with it. It's a top-down 'vania — my closest comparison would be Hyper Light Drifter, with character progression and looser movement closer to something like Ori or Hollow Knight. It was a bit of a gauntlet at first, and didn't always give you a lot of direction (apparently that's an upgrade you need to unlock), but once I got a few more options for movement and combat it felt like I could handle most of what it was throwing at me. Seems fun.
For a more direct comparison to Ori, we close out with Tales of Kenzera. This was one of the other highlights of the bunch for me. The movement and combat felt good and offered a lot of options up front, and kept adding more throughout the demo — similar to Ori, it's not the tightest and prioritizes spectacle over precision, but the level and encounter design never asks for too much. The art, animation, and voice work are all excellent, and the story (drawing inspiration from Bantu folklore) shows a lot of promise. I'm interested to see where this one goes, for sure.

My Favourite Single Player Video Games I Played in 2023
(Inspired by @a-shrieking-cloud-of-bats' post)
Disclaimer: most of these games are relatively well-known/popular, and at least a few didn't come out this year, but these are all games I played this year that had a lasting impact on me.
In no particular order:
Dredge
I was interested in this from the initial trailer, and the final game definitely delivered. You play as the new fisherman of a tiny island town, making ends meet while uncovering uncanny secrets beneath the waves. The gameplay is fun and involved (a mixture of time and inventory management) but easy enough to master. The main elements that have stayed with me are the visual style and score/sound design, both of which really lift the game's atmosphere - it's almost relaxing at times, but never quiiiiite loses that edge of unease.
Book of Hours
I was (am) a big fan of Cultist Simulator, so Book of Hours was one of my most anticipated titles this year. The fantastic tone and writing of CS is still present, really putting these games in a league of their own. The gameplay is still faithful to the first game's style and mechanics, but also branches out in a lot of fun ways - the far more detailed and lively board of Hush House and the nearby village add a much more solid setting. One small issue I take is that the systems and learning curve for BoH are just as complex and involved as CS, but without as much ability to start over and apply new knowledge - BoH is designed to be a single longer playthrough rather than multiple "runs", which might mean you find yourself a good number of hours deep before realising you've been engaging with the mechanics wrong the entire time. This is partly why I'm still to complete the game; I do still look forward to doing so eventually, though.
Darkest Dungeon II
Darkest Dungeon is one of my favourite games of all time. I've played the sequel ever since it first entered early access in 2022, and while I understand why a significant number of DD1 fans seemingly weren't too fond of it (the overarching gameplay is fairly different from the first game, taking a much more roguelite form reminiscent of Slay the Spire) I got on with it well, even moreso since the game's full v1.0 release this year - the progress and updates made throughout early access were really encouraging to see, and the finished game is a very worthy sequel that also works as a standalone title. The transition from static 2D sprites to fully animated 3D models, while maintaining the iconic and unique artstyle of Darkest Dungeon, is also really impressive.
The Case of the Golden Idol
I've been aware of this game ever since watching a stream of the first couple chapters a year or so ago, but was inspired to pick it up myself after the announcement of a sequel at this year's Game Awards (maybe one of the few games announced there I'm genuinely excited for). I don't scratch my puzzle game itch enough, and Golden Idol has made me keen to seek out more - solving a series of interlinked "mysteries" via observation of the environment and participants to obtain words and clues which you then piece together on a separate screen. I got through the game and both DLCs in around 3-4 days, but consider that time very well spent based on the number of genuine "eureka" moments I experienced alone.
Other Games I Played and Enjoyed: Return of the Obra Dinn, Receiver, The Binding of Isaac (Rebirth/Afterbirth/Repentance)
Multiplayer Games I Enjoyed/Am Currently Enjoying: Lethal Company, Party Animals
If you've read this far, thanks very much! This is mostly a personal record to look back on, but please feel free to pass on any recommendations or let me know what your top games were this year.
And With That, the Game of the Year 2023 (and Every Year Hereafter) is: OUTER WILDS

So, FFXIVwrite2023, huh?
About that... I said I'd be happy with 10 entries, so I just stopped there. Quite possibly because I started Baldur's Gate 3, but that's just a small piece of the problem. The main piece is that... I'm not enjoying FFXIV all that much anymore.
I decided to put this under a cut after I finished because it... mostly just turned into me complaining.
I have to be fully honest here. Endwalker really disappointed me from almost every angle. I love some of the characters and character growth moments (Alisaie's speech to Zenos, Jullus and the Garlemald arc come to mind,) and the environments and music are perfect and gorgeous as always. However, there are several buts, and they are stinky and hairy and flatulent buts indeed.
First of all, (and you probably saw this coming) my main class of 8 fucking years got gutted, and I can't seem to find another that I can both enjoy AND be good at. I play DNC now just because its easy and I can do it without burdening my party or unduly stressing myself out. Secondly, the story really lost me - the time travel, the continuing uwu-ification of the ancients/the world unsundered, the "just trust us!" style retcons, the fact that a single conversation could have solved everything on numerous occasions, whatever the fuck dynamis is... etc.
I digress a bit here though. The point is that I have played some absolutely phenomenal games since starting FFXIV (Baldur's Gate 3, Spiritfarer, Disco Elysium, Hades, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Return of the Obra Dinn, The Forgotten City,) and they keep reminding me that I'm supposed to be having fun... all the time. And yes, I am aware that comparing a detective procedural to a platformer to a Roguelite to an MMO doesn't make any sense, but joy and engagement with a game are just that, no matter what genre.
I feel like I should add the caveat that I still have a lot of fun raiding/partying with my friends, but schedules and other obligations and timezones and whatnot (aka through no fault of my dear friends) mean I'm solo/pugging a good 85% of the time and not having fun so much as filling quotas. I'm not quitting as of now or anything, (at the very least since I walked right into SE's subscription trap by getting a house) but I think I'm gonna be pretty light on logging in for at least a little while.
...
Holy shit, I was supposed to be talking about FFXIVwrite but that all just poured out of me.
About that FFXIVwrite though - I met a modest goal, and this was probably my last FFXIVwrite unless Dawntrail really blows my mind. I do want to continue my project of getting all 100+ pieces of Fal writing strung into a single story on my Ao3 . (Actually, the main reason I haven't done anything with it lately is because I was expecting to get more done with FFXIVwrite2023 to fill in some blanks before I posted everything else.) As for why I want to continue... I just really love my FFXIV son.

Door Reviews: The Case of the Golden Idol (2022)
PREAMBLE
Tumblr media
Hello! Doors here. I’ve recently finished this game, which I’ve heard of when I wanted to try investigative games. This seems to be a game from a new game studio named Color Gray Games.  I finished it a little while ago, and now I want to give my thoughts! Let’s get to it :)
STYLE (Gameplay, Graphics, Music)
Tumblr media
The game has 11 cases for you to solve. Each case has two modes you can flip back and forth from: the Exploring mode and the Thinking mode. When you are Exploring, you explore the surroundings and the scene of the crime. Clues are denoted by a shining yellow/red symbol on them (though you have the option to play without these at the start of the game to really give you that detective feel). When you click on these symbols, further clues may appear such as parchment containing text, potential murder weapons, or other items which may or may not be relevant to the case.
As you click on these clues, there will be some that are relevant enough that they will be added to the window below as keywords. These keywords will be relevant for the Thinking mode. Once you find all the clues (which you can check if you have by checking on the lower left), you are now free to go to the Thinking mode and try to piece together what happened.
Tumblr media
The Thinking mode is a sort of “fill in the blanks” kind of game, where your choices will be the keywords you have discovered during the Exploring mode. There is a predetermined sentence you have to fill in to find out what happened, and the rest of the items to solve you pick up during the Exploring mode. It is here you try and find out who the involved parties are. You also find out here any relevant discussions: discussions about will and testament, trying to find out who slept in which bedroom, etc.
When there are many incorrect keywords in your answer, the game will say so at the top of the relevant section. If you have two or less mistakes, it will also say that to you. Once you have managed to solve a section, the game will say that you have solved that part of the case.
Tumblr media
If you are stuck on some cases, you could also use their hint system! There’s this advisory that really asks if you do need the hint, and when you do try and get one, you have to do a little minigame where you match pictures to their relevant keywords. Once you do this, you can get one out of four possible hints for each case. You can do this up to four times to get all the hints if you so wish! I like this hint system because it really makes you commit to wanting the hint and gives you ample time to back out if you want to untangle the mystery on your own.
The gameplay reminded me a lot about Return of the Obra Dinn! It felt solid enough. The cases felt complex enough that they had me wracking my brain, but in retrospect the solutions make sense. I also love how they do use the solving mechanism itself as a form of worldbuilding, discussing locations and motivations of characters.
The art is interesting. It’s pixellated 2d, but uses 3d at some points: for the idol and for some environments. I’d say I like it, though I do find it a bit janky at times. The UI is also good, though the choices in layouts for some scenes I’m kind of meh on. The music has this foreboding menace at times which fits the overarching theme of the cases.
Overall, I loved solving the cases, but I think there’s some more polish to be had here in terms of the art. Though I guess I could see that the design might be intentional at points, it somewhat reminds me of old point-and-click games now that I think about it... In terms of gameplay though, I think it’s a very good approach for a detective game!
SUBSTANCE (Story, Characters, Impact)
Tumblr media
The game is, unsurprisingly, about the Golden Idol. Its discovery, how it changed hands, and how it has affected the people who have held it and who were around its influence. It feels like a fun detective book that you read on a nice afternoon, except you are experiencing it by being at the crime scenes and piecing everything together.
I found the characters interesting enough. They had their motivations, but I feel like there’s no deepness to them. Which isn’t really a problem, since here, the mystery takes center stage. You suss out all the angles and in doing so, craft this jigsaw puzzle of a story from the keywords you find. I found its twists and turns to be riveting at times too!
I think the story feels like a nice little thriller to pick out at your own pace.
CONCLUSION
Tumblr media
This is a solid first game from Color Gray Games. Even though I found some similarity to Return of the Obra Dinn, the gameplay still felt fresh, and I liked how the worldbuilding was interweaved with the solving mechanic. I am looking forward for more game from their company in the future!

tokyo tohoku trip - day 5.
woke up early morning after a good night sleep for another great day out, my sleeping schedule was so good during this trip for some reason, haha... XD i went to the morning market nearby the hotel to have a look but they mostly sell fresh food and stuff for cooking, so i decided to get some breakfast from convenient store which i really want to eat.
after enjoying my breakfast at my hotel room, i decided to just pack and check out first, and leave my luggage with the hotel receptionist so that i don’t have to come back until i am ready to leave sendai tonight.
my first place to visit is the sendai castle ruins/aoba castle ruins 仙台城跡, which is up a hill. i went to the nearest train station and started to walk, it didn’t occur to me that i would need to hike up the hill until i reach there and saw the walking path. also, the shorter route was closed off because some trees fall on the road, so i had to hike up a longer route, it was totally unexpected and quite tiring. it’s a good thing that the weather is chilly and i just walk up slowly and take rests in between, and since there’s no car or not crowded at all, i had the whole path to myself.
the city view at the top of the hill is beautiful, as it is a sunny day, you can really see very far away and there’s also a group of people filming some dance video there, which is interesting to watch. while this place used to be the castle, you don’t get to see any castle as it was destroyed and was never rebuilt. there’s VR service available for tourist who is interested to see what it used to be like though.
i walked around a bit and found a shrine, which is always nice to visit. miyagiken gokoku shrine 宮城縣護國神社 is not huge, but a decent size and it also look quite nice, i bought some souvenirs for my friend and myself too. after exploring around for a while, i found out that there’s a bus service to take me back to town, so of course i took that and went back to sendai station for lunch.
as beef tongue is a specialty in sendai, i found that there’s a whole row of restaurants dedicated to gyutan at the station, i chose a restaurant that has good review and queued up for it as all restaurants there are packed and super crowded during lunch time. zenjirou たんや善治郎 has quite a simple menu with different cuts and quantity for their set meal, you also get white rice, yam and beef soup with the meal which is very nice. i ordered 4 pieces of thick cut gyutan and it was really really good, i like the simple flavor, the charcoaled taste and the chewy texture of the beef tongue, it goes very well with rice and the soup is quite li8ght and refreshing to complete the meal.
after a satisfying meal, i stop by the zunda saryo ずんだ茶寮 to get the edamame shake. this is also a popular item from sendai, it is very refreshing, sort of like fruit smoothie, but the bean taste is light and refreshing, i really do enjoyed this very much. they also sell some snacks and souvenir which you can buy and bring home.
for the afternoon, i took the local train to matsushima for a boat ride to check out the beautiful islands around matsushima bay 松島湾. apparently, this view is one of the most beautiful and highly recommended. i booked the boat ride ahead so there’s a discount, however, you can also buy tickets on the spot as well.
the boat has huge windows so you can sit inside and look out to enjoy the view while listening to the narration (in japanese), which is a very relaxing thing to do. there’s also a special cabin on the upper floor which require extra fees, so i didn’t go there. the other option is to go outside and enjoy the sea breeze which is fun and great for photos. the view is already very nice, and adding sunset to it make it even better as the water color just changes over time. it is definitely worth checking this out as it was beautiful and such a relaxing activity.
once we are back from the boat ride, i decided to visit a cafe before leaving, as i do still have time until my dinner appointment. shokado cafe 松華堂菓子店 is just by the seaside and they sell various kind of rice crackers, snacks and dessert as souvenir. i ordered hojicha with  a kinako sandwich (soybean flour puff) きなこサンド to enjoy while looking at the sea and sunset. the cafe is not busy hence it is the perfect place to just chill and have a good time.
for dinner, shiogama is a nearby town where it is known to have the most sushi restaurants in whole of japan. and the fish here is super fresh and not being frozen because it is so close by to the sea. my friend helped me make a reservation at sushi shirahata 鮨 しらはた, and i reached there slightly earlier and the staff are super nice and friendly.
with my limited japanese, i managed to ask the chef for some recommendations and what is fresh and good for the day and picked out the food i want to eat. i ordered hotate and shirako (fish semen) for appetizer, sashimi and a sushi platter. the appetizer is actually amazing, there’s a difference in texture for the hotate (scallops) between the ones i enjoyed in aomori and this one. both of them is very good and there’s no fishy taste at all, in fact this is very refreshing with the sauce. shirako is a weird dish, but i quite like it as the texture is so smooth and soft.
sashimi is made of out three type of fish that the chef recommended, all of them have different texture and taste, which is very enjoyable, some lighter taste and some heavier, it’s just so so satisfying to have good sashimi that just give you a different sensation every bite.
sushi platter has 10 piece of sushi with a slice of tamagoyaki. each piece is made so beautifully the whole plate is like an art itself. there’s different type of tuna, local fish, hotate, uni, anago and more. during the whole meal, i had a good time chatting with the chef while he is preparing my food, i’m glad that i get to use my japanese, while it is no where near perfect, at least he did understand what i said.
the service here is really awesome, the restaurant was quiet and the ambiance was really comfortable. the meal also included a bowl of hot shrimp soup and pear sorbet at the end to complete the meal. the whole experience is amazing and definitely highly recommended as i do feel the quality of fresh fish is better  here than in tokyo, and i do believe it is less pricey as well. i would love to be back again if there’s chance in the future.
heading back to sendai, i picked up my luggage from the hotel and also bought some souvenir from zunda saryo before boarding the shinkansen back to tokyo, which also marks the end of my tohoku exploration using my 5 days jr east pass. this pass is so worth it as i got to visit so many amazing places, i do love all the smaller towns and the scenery is just amazing. being able to see snow and play with snow is wonderful as well. there’s definitely so much more to explore as tohoku area is huge, so i would definitely like to visit again in the future.
for next day onwards, it’s gonna be tokyo and places around tokyo, to be continued...

Gotta keep that hope around for sure i will keep my fingers crossed for you. Oh that is a win win i gotta remember that, i say as if adhd wont make me forget. I usually just look for em to see like. What kinds are around. Whole ones. Broken ones. Weird shapes. Its interesting. Dont take any with me though. That. Makes me wonder how they teach english over there. Honestly yeah i look for a name in the bio or just. Shorthand the username somehow because i gotta have some way to refer to people. I havent used a bio in years so people use my username all the time. Oooh norway i have always wanted to go there. I dont camp as much as id like to but i should more tbh. I have seen her stacks & i gotta say. Clara is wild cant believe i let her sit unused. I dunno how much ill get but im gonna for sure be savin as i can. I think that one is last yeah. I am always interested at the start but fade by the end because the new stuff always slows down. Same ive been playing indies more like gris & obra dinn. To try & branch out. Good story annoying exploration is chasm in a nutshell yeah. True big cities be like that. I live in a smaller one now so very little happens. Mine hold dye decently well which i appreciate. Just wish we had true permanent dye. Maybe one day. Thats how i am with nail polish i always get it on the sides & mess up but ive gotta just. Be patient & let myself learn. Happy 1.2 star rail update
sorry for the late reply shfjglk i truly have no excuse other than "i was holed up in my room in an attempt to avoid interaction with my grandma but i accidentally also avoided interaction with Everyone Else" so im. So sorry ab that. COMING BACK hehe thankies!! if things go wrong i guess ill just move out for a while and then come back Suspiciously A Different Gender. nobodys gonna know. but yeah good luck on remembering that shdjfk!! and ahh thats fair i just usually visit pretty big beaches so theres not many around by the time i get there. english is taught just so you know the language but following the education system without external classes will get you a2 knowledge At Best and its getting worse with each year so. lol. and yeah frfr i use usernames as names alllll the time...... norway is very fun i recommend it!! esp if you prefer colder climates like i do. ahhh understandable!! i dont actually. own a tent but as i said, maybe one day. id rather go with friends tho which is a problem in on itself cos i dont have that many friends that actually know each other. unless i go with my photo camp friends. thats an Idea actually. YEAH CLARA IS GREAT.... i unfortunately dont have her quite built [terrible relic luck...... plus ive been more focused on trying to prepare for kafka recently] but seeing as shes my main [despite having jing yuan] i Will get her better stuff someday. i have 140 pulls rn so im equally nervous as i am excited. yeah it really Is like that bc im always paranoid ab spoilers so i always do at least the new story as fast as i can. except for right now as i still havent played the new honkai chapter [but tbf my game only managed to download the update yesterday, 3 days after the launch of 6.8] and i honestly dont have the energy to do it today so maybe tomorrow. ah that sounds fun!! i came back to minecraft recently idk why but ive been having a Great time. after 130 in-game days i am finally no longer homeless. and oh when i get older id like to move to a smaller city [since i like having things close but dont like having drama all the time] but im still thinking ab where. ah thats cool...... i tried looking for the dye that i used on camp but couldnt find it. rip. and yeah same tbh thats why i never paint my nails. and yeah happy star rail 1.2 o)-( i like the double planar ornament event since thats the only thing im missing for kafkas things......

Tumblr media
atsumu
you were so proud of your boyfriend :’)
he was doing so well in his career and he seemed to be having so much fun
you really were happy for him
but his career meant that he wouldn’t see you all that often and was often preoccupied
some days went by and all you wanted to do was stay in bed with him and cuddle, but he couldn’t
you just miss him a lot
but with your birthday coming up, you’re excited
not for your birthday in particular, but because you’ll get to spend some quality time with atsumu💞
when you wake up, the sun is shining and you feel well-rested and content.
you sigh happily and reach over to the other side of the bed, only to find it cold and out of use. you sit up to investigate and discover that atsumu is gone.
you sigh again, this time a little disappointed. he must’ve gone to work, you think. you get up.
while you’re making breakfast for yourself, you check your phone. you have a couple messages from some of your friends and family, to which you respond to, but none from your boyfriend. even as you refresh your inbox, nothing comes up.
he’s probably busy, you remind yourself. you finish cooking and sit down to eat, alone.
today seems like a good day to just relax and let yourself breathe for a moment. you lounge around on the couch and watch some movies and take a nice, warm bubble bath. you waste the day away as you wait around for atsumu to come home, hoping maybe the two of you can go out for dinner tonight!
when he finally comes home, he lets out a tired groan and sits down on the couch after kissing you quickly on the cheek.
“i’m starving, babe. what’s for dinner?” he asks you, eyes closed.
you stand in front of him. “well, i actually didn’t make dinner tonight,” you respond. he opens his eyes and furrows his brows at you.
“...i thought i told you that i needed you to make dinner tonight,” he notes. “i texted you earlier.”
confused at his apparent annoyance, you try again. “well, i was hoping we could go out tonight. it’s been a long time since we ever—”
“y/n, i’m tired, okay? i had a long day and you’re not helping at all. i mean, you don’t make dinner, and now you’re asking me for more when it’s clear that i don’t have the energy,” he argues, irritated. you step back.
did he...? you ask yourself. there’s no way...
but now he’s just ignoring you, and it finally sinks in. he forgot.
you sigh sadly and retreat into your bedroom, hoping to just call it a night. you don’t want to spend your birthday arguing with your boyfriend.
atsumu gets up and walks into the kitchen, looking for a quick dinner. he opens the pantry to see new products that you must have gotten from the store. he looks over them, eye catching on a box of chocolate pocky.
the snack reminds him of a happy memory he shared with you just last year. it was your birthday, and he took you on a picnic and you shared the box, fighting over who got the last one, and instead just breaking it in half and having to share it.
atsumu thinks back to that day fondly, grinning softly at the memory. maybe this year we can do it again, he jokes to himself. and then he pauses.
...
.....
.........
...fuck.
he pulls out his phone frantically and swipes open the calendar, flipping to the correct month and staring at it obsessively.
and there it is; the reminder he set for your birthday, adorned with emojis and bolded brightly. his heart stops.
his eyes grow wide and he puts his phone down, panic slowly rising in his gut and making it hard to breathe.
“how could i have...” he whispers to himself.
then atsumu remembers how you asked him to go out with you to dinner and all he did was berate you for not being good enough. the way you seemed dejected as you took his words and left, leaving him alone in his head. he’s supposed to be your boyfriend, and he couldn’t even remember your birthday. he’s just been neglecting you.
desperate to make things right, he bursts into the bedroom to see you getting into bed. at his presence, your shoulders droop, and you sigh.
“‘tsumu, i don’t wanna fight, okay?” you ask, exhausted. his heart sinks even further. that’s what you think he wants to do?
he approaches you guiltily, and you look up at him, confused. he stares at you for a second before pulling you up by your hands and wrapping his arms around you ever so tightly.
you exhale, his touch so comforting that you just want to melt. it’s been so long since he held you.
“i’m so sorry,” he mutters, voice shaky with honesty. “i’m sorry that i missed your birthday and i’m sorry that i haven’t been a boyfriend and that you’ve been alone and i haven’t even realized.”
you freeze, astounded.
your eyes begin to fill up with tears and you dig your face into his chest to hide them away.
“i know i don’t deserve it, but please forgive me? i just wanna make it up to you, ‘kay?” he pleads, desperate.
in response, you nod into his chest. to be honest, you don’t really care all that much about your birthday, but now you that you’re in atsumu’s arms, you really can’t think about anything at all.
but he’s here now, and that’s the best gift you could have asked for.
Tumblr media
suna
you and suna had always had an interesting dynamic
he was often distant and seemed unfeeling, while sometimes you grew needy and clingy
you complimented each other
but lately the differences between you led to distance, and all you wanted was for your boyfriend to spend some time with you
because even with those differences, you loved him more than anything
your birthday was approaching, and you were relieved that you finally had a day just for you and him
you yawn, rubbing your eyes gently, and breathe in the soft morning air. today is your birthday!
you don’t see suna next to you, so you venture out into the living room. he’s not in there either. you check the kitchen and come up empty.
he must have left, you say to yourself, sighing. honestly, you had hoped for a whole day just for the two of you, but you supposed you’ll have to take just a few hours.
you check your phone to see if he’s left anything, but you see nothing. it’s not like you had expected anything, but it still stings just a bit.
so you spend the day having a little time to yourself, treating yourself to some snacks and doing some shopping. when you come home it’s early in the evening, so you start preparing dinner.
you wait for him to come home so that the two of you can have dinner together, lounging on the couch as you wait.
7:00 rolls around and you continue to wait. he doesn’t come home.
8:00 is here, and he’s still not home. the food is getting cold.
when 9:00 approaches and he’s still not home, you wonder where he is, irritation and disappointment filling your gut. you send him a message, to which he doesn’t respond.
it’s almost midnight when he comes home, and you get up, arms crossed in front of you, frustration coloring your features.
“where have you been? i’ve been waiting for you all day,” you ask. he just looks at you tiredly, as if he’s the one who should be disappointed, and sighs.
“it’s been a long day, okay?” he murmurs, and you scoff.
“you could’ve responded to my texts, at least.”
“i didn’t have time, okay? can you not be mad at me for two seconds, please?”
you stare at him, baffled. how does he have the audacity to—
“besides, not everything is about you, y/n. you have no idea the day that i had, so stop making today about you, okay?”
at that, your heart sinks, and realization hits you like a truck.
he... he didn’t even remember.
even while the two of you have had disconnects at some points in your relationship, he’s always taken the time to remember these dates and celebrate them with you. but now he doesn’t even remember.
anger starts to creep in, and you can feel it in your blood.
“fuck you, rin,” you mutter, and exit, slamming the door to your bedroom behind you. you press your back against the door and huff angrily.
at first, you just want to yell. but the more you stand there, the more you just want to lie down and cry. because the thought that your own boyfriend doesn’t even care about you enough to remember your birthday hurts far more.
outside the door, suna stares at the space where you left, confused. he doesn’t understand why you’re so upset with him.
he takes out his phone, hoping to text you and ask you to come back out so he can talk to you. he clicks on your contact and scrolls through it, looking for the message button. it shows your phone number, your emails, your birthday, your address...
suna pauses.
he scrolls back up.
your birthday.
oh no, he thinks, beginning to panic. oh god, what did i do?
and sure enough, the date is resting there on his phone, and his panic is confirmed.
today is your birthday. and he completely forgot.
and on top of that, he called you selfish for wanting the day for the two of you. he sees that you’ve left a plate of food out on the table for him and one for you too, and his chest aches painfully. you waited for him. and he didn’t show up.
when he gently pushes the door open, his heart breaks even further.
you’re lying on your side, arms wrapped around your pillow, crying softly. you hadn’t been this way when he saw you last, and the idea that he made you feel like this hurts terribly.
“...baby?” he calls softly. you gasp, startled by his sudden appearance, and attempt to stifle your sobs. it’s too late though; he’s already heard you. he comes over to your side of the bed, getting on his knees so that he’s eye level with you. you shut your eyes to avoid his gaze, and he sighs.
“please look at me?” he pleads, and you open your eyes reluctantly. they’re puffy and teary, and suna feels even more guilty than before.
“i haven’t been taking care of you and our relationship very well,” he starts. “i got so caught up in everything and i just got so distant and—” he exhales. “i completely forgot about today. and i’m so, so sorry, y/n. you have every right to be upset, and i’m so disappointed in myself for neglecting you.”
he cups your cheek gently, wiping away the tears there and kissing you sweetly.
“please let me make it up to you. okay?” he asks against your lips. he feels them curve up slightly, and sighs in relief.
“okay,” you whisper.
suna climbs up onto the bed and pulls you into him. you snuggle into his chest and he kisses your hair.
“goodnight, baby.”
“goodnight.”
Tumblr media
ushijima
your boyfriend has always loved volleyball more than anything
and you’ve always loved this about him
but it’s often leads to lonely days and meals eaten alone
you know it’s part of the compromise he must make, but you still miss him
however, with your birthday coming up, you think maybe now’s your chance to spend some time with him💓
today is your birthday, and you’re looking forward to what the day has in store for you!
toshi had left before you’d gotten up as per usual, but instead of waiting for him to come home, you decide you’ll visit him at practice today. you figure he’ll want to see you; it is a special day after all!
so you get up and walk into the kitchen, beginning the preparation of his lunch. you put together some rice and meat in a segment of the bento, adding an omelet to another and some salad in the other compartment. you pack some dressing in a tiny container and some miso soup in an insulated jar, packing everything up neatly. you look at it proudly.
you make your way over to the gym, excited to see your boyfriend. when you get there, the boys are in a practice match, so you sit on the bleachers to watch.
when ushijima finally spots you during his break, his eyebrows furrow, and he walks over to you.
“hi, toshi!”
“y/n, why are you here?”
you pause at his bluntness. he doesn’t seem very happy to see you.
“oh. uh, i made you lunch! i figured you might be hungry,” you reply, getting a little nervous. does he not want me here?
“y/n, you shouldn’t be here right now. it’s unprofessional.”
your heart sinks.
“but i just thought, since today is—”
“you really should just go home, y/n. i will see you later,” he mutters, his dismissal obvious. you look behind him to see a few of his teammates eyeing you pitifully. and now it’s clear to you:
he doesn’t even know it’s your birthday.
you sigh, hurt. you pick up the lunch you made him and leave silently, humiliation and disappointment swirling in your stomach, making you nauseous.
when you get home, you just put the bento in the fridge and walk into your bedroom. it doesn’t seem worth it to do anything else today. so you lay down, drifting into sleep by the comfort of your own arms, missing his.
hoshiumi stares at wakatoshi as you leave. toshi senses his eyes on him and looks back at him, confused.
“why’d you send y/n away?” kourai asks, curious.
“oh. i figured i’d see them later. besides, we have practice,” toshi answers.
“but,” hoshiumi continues. “don’t you wanna spend some time with them today?”
toshi looks down at him, brows furrowed in a question.
“i mean, it’s their birthday today, right?” he clarifies.
ushijima stares at his teammate.
“it is?” he asks, voice uncharacteristically cautious and quiet, almost shy.
hoshiumi’s eyes widen.
“tell me you didn’t...”
“i didn’t know. i must have forgotten,” toshi mumbles, eyes glued to the floor shamefully.
he didn’t mean to forget, really. but the thought completely slipped his mind somewhere and now...
you’re gone, because he sent you away, and you’d just wanted some time with your boyfriend. you brought him food and company and he turned you away.
there’s an unfamiliar sting in his chest as he recalls the way he’s been treating you; the way he never sees you and how you’ve been spending so many hours alone in your shared apartment. and now you’re alone on your birthday because he forgot.
wakatoshi doesn’t know exactly how, but he knows he needs to make it up to you.
when you wake up, an delicious aroma fills your senses, and you get up to investigate.
as you walk into the kitchen, your heart swells.
your boyfriend is at the stove, making a meal for the two of you. for the first time in a long time, he’s home for dinner. what he’s making smells amazing and your eyes fill up with tears at the sight of him here.
he finally notices you’re awake and walks over to you. he wraps you up in a hug, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
“i’m sorry, baby,” he mumbles against your hair. “i’m sorry for forgetting about your birthday. and for constantly leaving you alone. i want to make you feel better, okay?” he asks, pulling you off him gently to look into your eyes. his own widen in alarm at seeing you tear up. “did i do something wrong?” he mutters, self-consciousness leaking into his tone. you laugh, the sound shaky.
“no, baby,” you reassure him. “i’m just happy you’re here, that’s all.”
he sighs, relieved, and kisses you gently.
“me too.”

I don’t know if you got this type of request before, but Silco as a match breaker hired by Mel’s mom to break up Jayce and Mel and just Mel and Silco subtly maneuvering each other while Jayce is oblivious is kind of fun to me.
-claps- I Am Sorry This Took Me A Month. Jaymel + Melco + kind of implied jayvik a little? I'm the polycule guy. Kind of am ambiguously modern AU. Enjoy.
___
Mel had to admit, she mostly thought it was amusing.
It was fairly clearly sabotage- she had thought Jayce was aware of that as well. The fact that all their reservations fell though or got shifted to days with terrible weather, all his flower orders came back the wrong ones with floriography messages like I hate you and Die painfully and such. But perhaps she’d given Jayce a little too much credit. Brilliant though he certainly is, he has a very specific domain and not much time for anything else. What was really a touch frustrating was that she hadn’t noticed how much it was bothering him.
She had thought it was obvious it was sabotage, had assumed they were on the same page, had not become aware that they weren’t until he called her about another reservation falling through and had a panic attack on the phone. She’d talked him through it the best she could-- and really, that mostly meant steering him to Viktor, she was-- not good. At this. Once Jayce had started crying and she’d pet his hair and asked him if he’d ever tried painting. That had not worked. They’d had a nice time the day he’d been just a little out of it and she’d taught him to paint seascapes, but she thinks that had only worked because it involved doing things with his hands. He didn’t find the picture coming together soothing the way she did, couldn’t concentrate on it. The science helped, but she couldn’t help with science, and so... Viktor. She trusted Viktor to take care of him.
And well, there were things only she could do, too.
She booked herself a very private reservation and gave very clear instructions to the staff at the other line- if anyone called to cancel it, the staff should issue them an invitation to dine with her. They probably thought she was insane, but she made very sure that everyone was aware, and then went to the restaurant herself to ensure their security, that their kitchen and staff lists were checked, took an interest in everyone and tipped 300% at her two drinks at the restaurant bar, offered the owner some connections, told the cook she’d get his name in the paper, asked about the waitress’s baby. By the time she left, everyone knew her, everyone loved her, and no one was going to go along with a plan to poison her food. All they had to do was invite whoever made a fuss about her name to dinner. That was all.
So at seven o’clock sharp on a wednesday Mel goes to dinner alone, sits down in a private room, orders her appetizers, and waits.
It’s not long before a well dressed man comes in. He’s wearing a suit, and has a glass eye that seems to be custom designed with some kind of flames in it.
“I presume.” he says, “That your invitation was for me and not for the underling I had call the restaurant.”
“Well i’m glad we’re cutting to the chase.” Mel says. “Bread?”
“Certainly.” He sits down. “This was reckless of you.” His tone is just a touch amused, not so much judgemental as curious. It’s an observation.
“If you wanted me dead someone would have poisoned the food instead of just making sure it all came back cold.” She says. “Which brings me to the question. What is your angle, exactly.”
“Arrogant of you to presume it’s about you when your boyfriend is one of the most famous men in the country.”
She clicks her tongue. “If it were about Jayce than you wouldn’t have bothered attending this dinner--” She pauses, something occurring to her. “But it is, isn’t it? I’ve had plenty of uninterrupted business meetings.”
“I could simply have a grudge against the man of progress.”
She makes a dismissive gesture with her bread. “That’s not it. You’re still here at dinner with me and not harassing him and his lab partner or making his experiments explode. And Viktor certainly would have noticed if his experiments were exploding. No, this is about me and him. There’s a problem with us being together. What is it?”
He smiles at her, and Mel doesn’t think she’s mistaking the fact that he looks pleasantly surprised.
“Maybe I just think you’re too good for him.”
She delicately flicks a tomato off the side of her salad plate and onto his shirt.
“It’ll be my wine next if you say that again.” she says.
“That would be a waste of perfectly good wine.” He’s eyeing the bottle, and Mel realizes with a little amusement that he seems to be scanning the label like he doesn’t know where to look.
“It would, yes.” She affirms, half a conciliatory offer. “Tell me who you’re working for.”
He smiles at her. “What would be the fun in that?”
“Is that why you took this job? Fun?”
“It certainly could be.”
“Well, then.” Mel dips some bread in olive oil. “If you want to play games, then let the games begin. Have a look at the menu and pick an entree. Let's find something to talk about.”
He looks amused. “Good at games, are you.”
Mel looks at him through her eyelashes. “You’ll have to find out, won’t you?”
“Fair enough. What would you recommend?”
She suggests the spiciest dish on the menu in the sweetest tone she can, and two other absolutely terrible side-dishes besides.
And that’s for making Jayce cry, bastard.
If she was going to play she was going to win.

Biweekly Media Roundup
- Fire Emblem (Game Series) - Admittedly I don’t plan to play Three Hopes as the hoard action game style isn’t my thing, but I am enjoying seeing the new designs for all my fave Three Houses blorbos. Excellent for having a new influx of fanart.
- Star Trek Strange New Worlds (TV) - My dad is a huge Star Trek fan, so we’re watching the new series together. Not too far in but it’s pretty cute so far, the advanced space cult protecting the divine path of a “living” asteroid plotline was a pretty creative one, and the characters at least have potential, though I’d prefer them to just be fully original rather than retreads of TOS.
- Danganronpa 2 (Video Game) - According to my calculations the Grumps playthrough should be finishing up here in the next two or three weeks, so looking forward to that.
- The Owl House (Cartoon) - Caught up just in time for the finale and WOW did the second season outdo the first by a long shot. Not that I thought that season one was bad per say, but it had a habit of being clumsy and meandering. I liked the characters, but I never felt like they were given as interesting things to do as they could have been. Season two fixed that in spades-All the major characters are given interesting lore that has lasting effects into the future plot, the supporting cast actually gets to contribute to the story in interesting ways, Luz and Amity get to be gay as hell and are adorable together, tragic emotional mess sadboi Hunter is here now and I love him dearly, and there’s actual stakes going into the next episode as I genuinely don’t know where they are going to go with it. I’m of course mad at Disney for canceling it prematurely, but kudos to the writing team for managing to keep it engaging given their unexpectedly condensed timeframe.
- Spy X Family (Anime) - Man Anya is so cute, I’m surprised about how invested I am in her school hijinks given the actual espionage happening in the show, but the telepathy aspect combined with her impulsive gung-ho attitude makes her interactions with her classmates just hilarious. Damien seems like he’ll be an entertaining little shit, and I’m looking forward to meeting Yor’s brother.
- Pathologic (Video Game) - Pretty far into Patho 2 now, and while I don’t know if I can say I like it better than Classic, I do think it’s an improvement on the Haruspex’s route overall. You really do connect to the town and its people more, and giving Artemy actual connections and childhood memories beyond what he received in the original is quite nice. I do kind of miss how weirdly nice Daniil and Artemy’s conversations were in classic, but admittedly their dialogue here is a lot more snappy and entertaining overall-Daniil’s just such a little prick and Artemy is having none of it. To be fair it’s not like they retconned Haruspex route Daniil to hate Artemy or anything, he still seem to quite like him, he’s just mean about it now which I for one find hilarious. Artemy’s individual dialogue is also pretty entertaining, most of the time it’s pretty relatable “I’m exhausted and over this shit” type of stuff but every so often he just pulls out these insane lines like “I’m somewhat of a kitten myself” or “Normally people call me ‘Help, I’m Dying’”, like what??? Artemy what are you doing man?? I love it.
- Schitt’s Creek (TV) - Starting to get actually attached to these characters at this point-David’s budding romance with his is business partner is quite wholesome, I’m really loving all Alexis’s looks, and the Stevie/Mr Rose dynamic is a fun addition.
- Return of the Obra Dinn (Video Game) - Finished, and what a game it was! It really can only be played once due to it’s single puzzle nature, but it was definitely worth that single playthrough, with a truly unique aesthetic, memorable music, great creature design, and an interesting puzzle that is just difficult enough to make you feel smart for solving it. If your the type that likes escape rooms or just puzzles in general, I’d 100% recommend this is was a blast.
- Dracula (Original Novel) - Good the cowboy has arrived.

Meet Me in the Silence
Elriel Month - Day 5
Tumblr media
 Continuation of ‘Forbidden’
Honestly, tooth-rotting fluff, some Nyx, stabbing Cassian with fork, Azriel singing and relationship stuff
Azriel loved Nyx. He didn’t love him because Nyx was cute and pudgy, or because he was his nephew, or because he was a fun, if demanding baby, and not even because spending time with him was a private relief for Azriel. A time to let go, a time where he could spend rolling around on the carpet, helping Nyx with blocks, rattles and the construction of pillow forts, watching Nyx sneeze little whiffs of starry night.
Nyx, unbenounced to him, showed Azriel some truths that Azriel couldn’t face before. The thing with Nyx was that he was a baby and he didn’t care—he didn’t care about Azriel’s scars and his ugly hands, he didn’t care about Azriel’s cruel ways, or the services that he provided to the High Lord. Nyx didn’t care about how many people fell under Truth-Teller’s deadly edge, or what Azriel had to do on the battlefields or during the Blood Rite. Nyx didn’t judge. As an infant, he wanted the same thing from Azriel as he wanted from everyone—warmth and comfort, kindness and love. He wanted to be rocked to sleep, fed, changed and played with. He didn’t care that the bottle was held by the same hand that tortured the Night Court’s enemies, or that the man who held him to his chest did some unforgivable things in his life.
As the last nine months rolled by, Azriel had to do some re-evaluations of his life. He had time on his hand, to be sure. Instead of courting Elain, like he wanted to, he thought. There was nothing much else left for him to do.
He thought that perhaps, despite his internal denials, Elain was much like Nyx—she accepted Azriel for what he was. Scars and all. Her acceptance did not stem from naiveite, though, but love. The realization hit Azriel like a sledgehammer. He crawled towards it, slowly, but surely, rethinking every touch and every smile, recalling every smirk and sparkle of the caramel-brown eyes, all the jokes and jabs, and gentle touches and finger brushes. Recalled the worry on Elain’s face when she knew that he went on his missions—even if they weren’t particularly dangerous. The pain that was etched on her features, when he returned in a particularly foul mood, and she knew that it was because he did things that marred his soul. He remembered her casually handing him a whiskey, which he’d gulped down in one go. Or a cup of tea, with honey and lemon, just like he liked. The gooey caramel cakes that she made—they were his favourite—and they began making a frequent appearance on the dessert menu. The past nine months of their forbidden love—is that what it was?—were the time when Azriel finally felt loved. For the first time in his life. Mor never really loved him, not like he needed to be loved. His brothers—well, they were his brothers, so that was that. Elain loved him. Of that, he was now certain. Elain loved him without touching. Without kissing. Without romance. Without courtship. Without gifts or presents or flowers. Without promises. Without expectations. It’s like she couldn’t help herself, even if she tried. She needed to love him, as much as he needed to be loved by her. All her tiny gestures of comfort and care created a glittering mosaic of love and devotion, which he only now began to piece together. And it pained him that she was not free to express herself as she wanted to, because loving him came with a hefty, unreasonable price.
For her, he’d fight. For her, he’d be the person she deserved. When she began choosing him, it was the first time in his life when someone actively chose him, despite all his shortcoming. And he wanted her to continue choosing him, every day, making the decision to love him.
Azriel had a lot of time to think about it, in silence.
Azriel was a good cook. One of his may hidden talents. He spent much of his time alone, or in places that were foreign and unfamiliar, or in the army, and necessity being the mother of invention, he had to learn how to cook. And then, he became quite good at it. He had to draw the line at baking, but he could make a steak like nobody’s business, and eggs every way were his specialty. Tonight though, he was tired and distracted. It was the first time in a very, very long time when he and Elain were alone, so he didn’t particularly want to waste it on cooking. What’s more, with Nyx being the raging little monster that he was today, Azriel wanted to put the kid to bed as soon as possible and just relax. For a meticulous planner, tonight, he had no plans at all…and it both excited and frightened him, because it would just be the two of them and they’ll have to figure it out.
“Breakfast for dinner?” he offered, while Elain set Nyx’s food in front of him. He was too quick for her and immediately jammed his whole fist into the vegetable mash, soliciting a groan from her, as he began licking his palm and fingers with gusto.
“Whatever you want to make,” she agreed, as she began wiping the mess that Nyx made, while Azriel smirked, shaking his head. He tossed two slices of ham in the skillet, and allowed it to crisp up and caramelize.
He came behind her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, burying his face in her hair. She smiled, momentarily lost in the sensation of closeness and comfort that he always offered her, so effortlessly too.
“You know,” warned Azriel, using his ‘stern’ voice, looking at Nyx, “for your behavior, you should be sent to an Illyrian training camp. Just so you know what’s what. There, there won’t be 10 people looking for Brute for you, or uncle Cassian swimming with you in the pool, or Elain feeding you lemon cakes, or aunt Nesta reading to you the same book over, and over, and over, and over again. No aunt Mor taking you on a pony, and no Varian building sandcastles with you, only to watch you destroy them.”
Elain, tucked against his chest, was laughing. Especially because Nyx was glaring at Aziel unhappily and suspiciously.
Then, she said, softly, almost to herself, “I am happy that he is happy. That we can give him the childhood that none of us had. Let him be a little bit spoilt, because he is so loved.”
There was longing in her tone. Longing for something that she probably desired for herself. Those conversations have never been had between the two of them. Gods, they’ve never even been together in public, let alone had conversations about the future, and a future that included children. It was never something Azriel even thought of, considering his ‘luck’ in love, and his line of work. But he heard her. So he gave her a little kiss on the cheek and returned to his cooking.
Elain was feeding Nyx the last of his food, when Azriel placed two plates on the table, and poured both of them a glass of ale.
“Beer with breakfast,” she giggled. “I like the way you think, shadowsinger.”
He laughed, loving how easy it all was. How easy the banter came, how relaxed they were together, how there were no pressures at all when it was just the two of them. Well, three.
“Alright, you’ve taken enough of everybody’s time today,” he decided, as he fished Nyx out of the highchair and went to wash his face and hands again. Elain remained seated, watching the two of them, with her chin propped on her hand.
Was it normal to be that enamoured with a man? When he did mundane things? She had to admit—Azriel was indescribably beautiful. That alone would attract anyone. The gargantuan wings, ticked tightly, but not tensely against his back didn’t hurt either. The span of his enormous shoulders, the movement of those thick muscles around the arms, over his back, which moved and bulged as he wrestled with Nyx, who was refusing to get his hands washed, were mesmerizing. She knew that she shouldn’t be so dazzled by his looks, but she couldn’t help herself. But it was more than just admiring the elegant cut of his body, the well-fitted trousers that did very nice things to his thighs and his long legs, or the enticing forearms that were exposed from his haphazardly rolled up sleeves. The tattoos, in fact, snaked lower than she anticipated. She’d never seen him undressed—Cassian, strong, beefy and powerful, and the leaner, thinner Rhysand—plenty of times. But not Azriel. He’s been annoyingly timid. All three were tattooed, but apparently, Azriel’s reached all the way to his scars. She smiled to herself, amazed and bemused. Who would’ve thought that she, Elain, would be so attracted to a winged and tattooed male? What a far cry from the ordinary, plain Greyson.
Azriel plopped Nyx down on the floor, tossed him Brute and some toys and then quickly threw a shield around them, so Nyx was contained and didn’t attempt to wander from the kitchen.
“You should’ve started,” he nodded to her untouched plate, as he sat down.
“Not without you,” she said. “Looks very good!”
“I try,” he said bashfully and they tucked into to the scrambled eggs, ham and vegetables.
“Oh, gods, it’s really good,” she almost moaned.
“Baby, it’s just eggs,” he reminded her, secretly very pleased with her reaction.
“Well, baby likes them!” she giggled, cutting into the ham. Azriel watched her, watched the movement of her hands and she asked, “What?”
He chuckled and said, sipping his ale,
“I recall when you were planning to kill Cassian with a fork.”
Her brow furrowed.
“What?”
“Oh, you don’t remember?” he was laughing softly.
“I don’t think it’s even possible to kill Cassian,” she noted.
“I’d agree. But you were ready and eager.”
“When was I planning to kill Cassian?” she demanded.
“First time we met—at dinner. I remember Nesta…well, being Nesta. And Cassian—Mother save me, the moment he had her eyes on her, he was just dripping with this hideous arousal,”
Elain almost choked, eyes wide.
“What?”
“It was horrible,” he gave an exaggerated shudder. “Rhys and I were traumatized. Those two were going at it, as usual, fighting, sniping…whatever they do, and all we could smell was him getting hotter and hotter. That dinner,” he shook his head at the memory. “It was something else.”
She was laughing, nodding.
“And you?” she asked, at last.
He gave her a long thoughtful look. A tender, loving look that made her throat bob, and suddenly she was hot…much like Cassian.
“Honestly?” he asked quietly, not taking his eyes off her.
“Yes.”
“I thought that I saw the most human and the most beautiful girl in the world. Utterly unattainable. Engaged to another man. But surprisingly unafraid of us,”
“I was very afraid of you!” she argued. Azriel smiled.
“You three were huge!” she cried. “With these enormous wings,”
He raised his brow suggestively and she smacked his arm,
“Oh, shut up,”
“I didn’t even say anything,” he shrugged, “but please, tell me more about our huge wings, and our generally superior size,”
“I am not telling you anything,” she snapped, her cheeks red, and he was delighted.
“But you do admit that you tried to kill Cassian?”
“I didn’t try to kill him. Just defend myself, if there was need,”
“Pretty sure Nesta would’ve unmanned him with her bare hands,”
“Of that, I have no doubt.”
“And me?” he pressed, “you didn’t want to stab me with a fork?”
She gave him a cool look of nonchalance and recalled,
“You suddenly turned into a poet!”
“Did I?” it was his turn to be confused.
“Something about hearing the wind song, or something,”
“I don’t even remember that,” he confessed, a slow blush spreading over his cheeks.
“I do. I guess we remember different things about that evening.” She glanced at him from under her lashes and added, “I just remember thinking that you were the most handsome man—male—I’d ever seen. I didn’t even think that people could be that beautiful,”
Azriel’s blush deepened and Elain secretly enjoyed watching him squirm a little. She was well aware of the fact that he was always uncomfortable when people mentioned his appearance. He knew that he was handsome, almost unnaturally so, but whatever horrible words and deeds he’d experienced in his childhood warped his perception of himself. At times, she wanted to assure him that no one paid much attention to his hands…she certainly didn’t. She always found his hands, the scars on them just as attractive as the rest of him. They were simply a part of him, just as his beauty was. But he struggled. She knew it.
And as she always did, when she wanted to reassure him, she took his hand and brought it to her lips. He stilled. She kissed. Kissed the inside and outside of his palm. Watched him. Watched him tense, but not pull away his hand. Kissed each long, strong finger. Kissed the rough skin. Kissed the pain and the doubt. Not away, but at least temporarily.
Bored and tired, Nyx fell asleep on the floor, sprawled on the rug, clutching Brute.
“We have to take him upstairs,” muttered Elain, releasing Azriel’s hand.
She didn’t know how to deal with the intimacy of their relationship. Her feelings were raw and exposed, and she was painfully aware of her own inexperience. She didn’t know how to be seductive. Had no idea how to play games—wasn’t really looking to learn either. But she wasn’t dazzling or mysterious, and had no inkling of what Azriel expected, of what he wanted. He was so unbearably difficult to read, while she was stupidly, obviously in love with him. She was the Cassian to his Nesta. She was the one dripping with arousal, unable to stifle her need, or dampen her desire. He probably saw her as the fool that she was.
Frustrated, she made to get up from the table, but he caught her wrist and clasped it gently, as always reigning in his terrifying strength.
“Come here,” he murmured and pulled her to him, until she settled on his lap, feeling both awkward and happy. “Lainey,”
“I like baby,” she blurted.
He nodded, and said, “Baby, you don’t need to pretend with me…I…” he swallowed, thinking how to continue. “You might be surprised, but it’s new for me as well. I’ve had,” ugh, he really didn’t want to discuss his past lovers with her, not right now. “I am not inexperienced,” he said diplomatically. No, he wasn’t. “But this,” and he waved his hand between them, “this is new for me as well. I’ve never felt this much…for anyone. Ever,”
“What becomes of us, Az?” she asked softly.
“Whatever you want,” he stated simply.
“But,”
He shrugged, “there will always be obstacles,”
“Rhysand is more than just an ‘obstacle,’” she reminded him.
“Rhysand, frankly, can go and fuck himself,” Azriel said flatly.
The new, Fae Elain wasn’t scandalized by the coarse language. The three brothers, Nesta and Mor cursed like sailors, and Elain found herself throwing an occasional ‘shit’ and ‘dick’ in her speech. So it made her smile when the usually controlled, polite Azriel unleashed his mouth.
“He is your High Lord,” she reminded him.
“He is technically everyone’s High Lord, but it doesn’t mean that he gets free reign on doing whatever he wants. If I am not asking him to give up Feyre—remember how he snuck her out from Tamlin’s clutches—then he doesn’t get to tell us what we ought to do.”
The thing that he’s been carrying in his pocket was burning through him, a constant reminder. He shifted and then looked straight at her and tucked an errant strand of her hair behind her ear. For someone who didn’t crave or enjoy touch, the desire to touch her was constant. He didn’t even need anything sexual at this point, but feeling her skin against him, in whatever way, was beyond satisfying.
“Did you promise him anything?” she inquired, moving even closer to him, loving the heavy warmth of his arms around her.
“Absolutely not!” he spat. “He is completely overstepping, and I’ve been humouring him up until now, but it seems to be that he is a little too comfortable with the status quo,” he looked at her, his voice grave, “I hope you didn’t promise him anything either?”
She shook her head,
“No. I didn’t say anything.”
A whoosh of breath escaped him. “Thank the Cauldron.”
Elain stroked his cheek with the backs of her fingers and said, sharply this time, “Everything’s been taken away from me once already. I wasn’t prepared to give you up. You are the only thing that I want, and Rhysand wasn’t going to take that away from me. From us…” she glanced at him, “if you feel the same…”
“Do you need to ask?”
She smiled.
Azriel exhaled deeply and then cupped her face between his hands. He was going to do it. He needed to do it. She devoured his gaze, the look of intent in his forest-green golden eyes, the determined set of his jaw. He left her, once, waiting…Waiting for him to take the next step, waiting for him to act and he didn’t. Not today.
“Elain,” he swallowed audibly, and she felt that he was nervous. “Will you permit me to court you?”
Azriel wanted to do this properly. Elain deserved it—deserved to be treated with kindness and respect, but he deserved it as well—he wanted to do what so many others took for granted. It never came naturally to him, the normal things, and for once, despite everything, he was going to make this one thing happen.
Nyx moved on the floor, woke up and let out a scream. Confused, he looked around and began babbling tearfully ‘ma, ma, ma’.
Elain slipped off his lap and gently cooed “Shhhh, come…come, my sweet boy,” and picked him up. Azriel watched them, not even upset at the interruption.
Nyx was crying in earnest now, and not even Brute was enough to console him.
“I am going to try to put him to bed,” she whispered, rocking the baby against her chest.
Azriel opened his arms and said, “hand him over.”
“But,”
He carefully took Nyx from her and the move did not result in silence or calm, and Nyx cried just as sadly, looking for his mom. As Azriel made his way down the hall and towards the stairway, with Elain trailing him, he began to sing. In a language that Elain did not know, but understood innately to be Illyrian. The way the sounds rolled off Azriel’s tongue was natural, the melody lulling and sweet. His voice was soothing and pleasant, with a gravelly note that came from the back of his throat. Nyx stilled, blinking at him. As they slowly went up the stairs, Azriel rocked and cuddled Nyx, stretching his wings so they covered them in a dark canopy, the words of the lullaby muffled, but just as beautiful. Elain wished that it didn’t end…There were just a words that she picked up ‘warrior’ and ‘sleep’—something she learned from Cassian, who was teaching Nesta some Illyrain phrases, now that they spent a decent amount of time in their Illyrian bungalow.
In Nyx’s nursery, Azriel put the baby down in the crib and covered him with a blanket, rocking the crib lightly, as he continued his song, quieter now, seeing that Nyx’s eyelids drooped.
Wordlessly, he lifted his arm and Elain slipped to his side, and wrapped her arm around his torso. They never needed words.
Sleep, warrior heart
Sleep and know that you are loved
Sleep, warrior heart and meet me in silence
Find dreams and peaceful slumber, my little warrior heart
Azriel quietly translated the song, without her prompting. He knew that she’d want to know what the words meant. He, however, did not explain the history of the song and where and how he’d learned it.
“Yes.”
He looked down at her, a silent question on his face.
“The answer is ‘yes’,” she repeated. “You may court me.”
“Thank you,” was all he said.
They left the nursery and stopped in the hallway.
He put his hand on the back of her neck and stroked.
“Then I’d like for you to have this,” he said at last. He took something from his pocket and laid it in her palm. It was a key.
“We will have to meet in silence.”

On Sunday morning you woke up panting from a horrible nightmare featuring the two men you saw just days ago. “If that guy really murdered (Victim’s name) wouldn’t he go after me now?” You thought and clutched your bedsheets. “He saw me and spoke to me. If he remembers my face he’ll probably find me and finish me off so I don’t blow his cover.” You curled up into a ball under the covers trying to not think about all of this. “But it’s too late for that.” You thought and sat up. “I already talked to the police and described his looks to the sketch artist so it’s too late to shut me up. All he could do now is kill me just for kicks.”
As soon as you thought that you wished you hadn’t. Your tiny apartment didn’t seem so safe anymore. There was a murder in the neighbourhood for god’s sake. You started nervously pacing around the place looking out of the dirty window every now and then, but there was nothing to see. No one passed by your building, the pouring rain scared all the pedestrians away, there weren’t many cars on the street either. Suddenly you felt like you couldn’t stay at your apartment anymore. For some reason it seemed to you as if the murderer had followed you there even though you knew it would be impossible. You were looking over your shoulder every two seconds when you were running home two nights ago. He couldn't possibly know where you lived. You repeat that thought in your head a couple of times before reaching for the phone.
“Hello?” You heard a familiar deep voice answer on the other end.
“Hey, Taehyung. Sorry… Did I wake you up?” You asked your friend and looked at the clock. It was ten in the morning.
“It’s fine. What’s going on? You okay?” He asked, sounding both sleepy and concerned as if he sensed that something wasn’t right with you. You screamed a loud “Hell no!” in your head before answering him.
“Yeah, I’m good. It’s just that… Well, I was wondering if I could stay at your place for a couple of days… ” You didn’t plan on lying to Taehyung, but telling him the truth didn’t seem like an appealing thing to do right now.
“Sure. You’re always welcome at my house.” He reminded you. “But… Did something happen or-?” You cut him off before he could finish the question.
“I’m fine. It’s just my building. There’s going to be renovations… Done to the… Interior and it’s going to be noisy.” You said making everything up on the spot.
“Alright…” He didn’t sound convinced by your story. You could swear he knew you were lying or at least twisting the truth hidden behind your sudden want to change houses. “Come over whenever, I’m home all day.”
“Thanks Tae.” You said with relief. “I’m finishing my shift at two so I’ll be at your place around three. Can you leave me the keys somewhere?”
“I’ll drop them off at your shop in the evening. Okay?” He sounded sleepy again. You agreed and thanked him once again before ending the call and falling back onto your bed tired, but less afraid.
You had no doubt that Taehyung will question you later on, and you’ll come clean. You sighed once again trying to make the anxiety leave your body, didn’t work, but instead of laying there and worrying about what was going to happen you decided to pick yourself up and pack for a stay at Taehyung’s.
-
Taehyung’s house was further away from your work than your own place. The sun was long gone and the moon was up as you got on a train at the Central Station. You sat down on the empty train and looked out the window.
As the distance from the city center increased the sizes of houses you saw on the way to Taehyung’s also did. His family was always well off and, thanks to his parents setting up a trust fund for him when he was just a baby, so was he now when he moved out of their home.
When you got off the train the moon was shining bright, casting a sinister shadow on the neighbourhood. Taehyung’s house was just a five minute walk away from the station and usually you thought of it as just a quick short stroll. Tonight, for obvious reasons, was different. You clutched your huge bag tighter and started walking fast through the well lit streets of Taehyung’s boujee neighbourhood and though you knew you were alone you still felt as if someone was following you.
It was almost three when you arrived at your friend’s house. You got the keys from your jacket’s pocket and unlocked the door with shaking hands. Standing out in the open with your back to the street made you very nervous. You shut the door behind you and locked it quickly and quietly not to wake up your host.
“Woof!” You jumped up at the sound and turned around from the door to be faced with a small fluffy dog.
“Since when does he have a dog?” You whispered to yourself. “Hey, who are you?” You asked the dog and reached your hand out to pet it. After a moment you felt the tiredness come over you. “Sorry, pup. I have to sleep.” You whispered to the dog and stood up. You took out your phone and read the text Taehyung had sent you a couple of hours earlier. “Take the guest bedroom upstairs.” You took your shoes off, grabbed your bag and got upstairs with the dog following your every footstep. Not wanting to waste any precious time you could spend sleeping you quickly washed up and went to sleep.
-
You woke up to sounds of barking and laughter. Taehyung must have woken up already. You decided not to stay far behind and got out of bed as well.
“Hey!” He greeted you as you walked down the stairs in your sweatpants.”You made it!” He cheered.
“Hey. Since when do you have a dog?” You asked, mimicking his bright smile. “He scared me last night.” You joked.
“Uh… Since three days ago? I'm dog sitting for a coworker.” He explained. “Come on, I was just about to make breakfast for us.” He spoke more to the dog than to you and petted it’s head before delivering a small kiss to the top of it.
After what seemed like eternity to your empty stomach you sat down together at the huge dinner table with an omelette each. You honestly couldn’t remember the last time you had anyone cook for you and suddenly you felt really happy at the thought of living with Taehyung for the next couple of days.
“This smells delicious. I’m so hungry. I haven’t eaten since the beginning of my shift last night.” You said and started eating. Taehyung’s eyes widened at your words and you laughed thinking it was about your bad diet habits, but you quickly found out it was something different.
“That reminds me! Did you hear about that guy that was found dead in your area?” You felt your stomach turn and it wasn’t because of Taehyung’s poor cooking skills. “It was like ten minutes from your apartment, right?” He asked and you sighed deeply before answering.
“Yeah, I’m a witness in that case.” You almost whispered.
“What?!” Taehyung called in shock. “How is that- What?!” He couldn’t compose a full sentence. “It was on TV this morning! He was a lawyer or something like that… (Y/N), this is… Insane.” He said and kept describing what he saw on the news about it this morning. “He was found in some alleway with his throat torn apart, like an animal attacked him. Terrible.” His words echoed in your head while you tried to keep the omelette down in your stomach. “Completely drained of blood. Can you imagine?” He shook his head in disbelief. “It really made me feel bad. They said he had a family and all… (Y/N)? Are you okay?” He asked, patting you on the arm.
“Yeah.” You breathed out. “It’s just all a lot, you know?” You said looking up at him with somber in your eyes.
“Yeah. And on top of that you have renovations done at your apartment, right?” He asked cheekily.
“Yeah…” You said looking away. “He knows.” You thought, but you knew there was nothing to worry about. He saw through your weak story about renovations when you first called.
“You have to be extremely careful walking home from now on.” He said with a seriousness in his voice.
“Why do you think I’m here?” You said with laughter lining your tone. “So I don’t have to walk home in that sketchy neighbourhood.” You both laughed and cleaned your plates talking about different happier things.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you, I invited Jimin over for dinner tonight.” You smiled lightly not to let Taehyung see you weren’t especially fond of the idea of seeing your coworker tonight. “He’ll probably bring Yoongi with him.” That made your small smile fade away quickly. You only met Yoongi a couple of times and all of them he was painfully awkward and silent. “We’ll all watch a movie or something later, you’re welcome to join us!” Taehyung exclaimed.
“Thanks. I have some online classes for college tonight so we’ll see how that goes.” You said and started planning your day in your head. Working all throughout the week and studying online was taking up most of your time right now, but you really wanted to skip today's lectures and just chill out with Taehyung, even if Jimin and Yoongi were going to be there too. You got along really well with Taehyung ever since you met in high school and it’s thanks to him you got that job at the convenience store and met Jimin, his childhood friend from way back. At first you found it a little awkward working with him, but you quickly found common ground and became somewhat friendly. You weren’t as close as you and Taehyung were. You only knew each other for a couple of months now and were about as close as co-workers could be.
“Come one, (Y/N). Ditch the lectures, it'll be fun to hang out together.” He said smiling at you so even though you found his announcement a little disheartening you decided to  try. For Taehyung’s sake.
“Okay.” You answered after a moment earning yourself a pleased grin from Taehyung who was more than happy that you were open to the idea of hanging out with them, despite knowing that you would rather stay in your room tonight.
-
Dinner time rolled up quicker than ever today. One moment you were studying for your exam in a few weeks and the next you heard the doorbell ring signaling Jimin’s and Yoongi’s arrival. When you looked out the window you saw the street lamps were already lit up. The evening seemed darker tonight for some reason and you didn’t like that one bit. You could hear everyone’s voices from downstairs and a heavy feeling went over you. You felt on edge, as if something bad was coming your way, but you couldn't quite put the finger on what it was, and sitting in Taehyung’s guest room with all the lights off and only your laptop screen giving off a faint blue light wasn’t helping. Your lecture had just started so you clicked the check mark in the app on your laptop to signal your presence to the professor. Looked at your screen once again to make sure that the microphone was turned off and sighed loudly kicking your feet up on the desk. You felt overwhelmed, tired and scared. The sight of the sun setting behind the city skyline made you nervous.
“No more of that.” You said quietly meaning both the boring lecture and the worrying sick about the uncertainties of the night. You got up from the chair you were lounging in and muted your computer. You decided to leave it open on the desk leaving the professor and the rest of the class unaware of your absence, but still getting the points for attendance. As you opened the door you were greeted with a loud bark from the small dog Taehyung was taking care of for one of his coworkers. You walked down stairs into the living room with the dog following your every step to greet Jimin and his boyfriend.
“Oh, finally you decided to join us.” Taehyung said teasingly as you entered the room and patted his leg to get the dog to come to him. “I forgot to tell you guys!” He exclaimed, turning back towards Jimin and Yoongi. “(Y/N)’s staying with me for a while.” You noticed Yoongi’s surprised expression and immediately felt embarrassed.
“Great! He’s probably thinking I’m sleeping with Taehyung and he’s gonna tell Jimin all about it once they’re left alone!” You yelled in your head. “They didn’t even know I was here… I could’ve stayed in my room unnoticed.” You growled to yourself. “Well, it’s too late to go back now.” You thought with resignation. Hanging out with the three of them, at least for a while, was the least you could do to both keep your mind off the gloomy thoughts and make Taehyung happy. “Surely he won’t be mad if I split after the dinner is finished.” You thought to yourself and a smug smile made an appearance on your face as you noticed the guests have brought beer.
-
You didn’t expect time to fly by so fast, especially in this company, but within the first moments of hanging out it turned out you have way more in common with both Jimin and Yoongi than you thought. You noticed so many similarities between yourself and Jimin from your likes and dislikes to the way you think when you’re under pressure. Yoongi on the other hand reminded you a lot of your highschool self. He was more shy and withdrawn than Taehyung or Jimin, but you could see he still cared about them, Jimin for the most part.  You were bickering about what movie to put on when the doorbell rang.
“Are any of you expecting someone?” You asked in confusion eying the group.
“Yeah, Yoongi’s friend was supposed to join us.” Jimin said. “That’s probably him.” He added.
“I’ll let him in.” You volunteered. “I can’t stand your argumentation behind playing Holiday.” You joked while giving Taehyung a smirk, got up from the couch and went to get the door. You grabbed the cold metal door handle and twisted the key in the lock opening the door with ease. With the street lights behind him you couldn't see Yoongi’s friend’s face clearly, but you noticed his tall and lean figure. “Hi. Come on in.” You said to him and stepped to the side to let him through the doorway.
“Thanks.” His voice gave you shivers.
“Do I know you?” You asked, begging in your head to hear a different answer than the one you were thinking of right now.

First and Last Pt.14
Daryl Dixon x Reader
Summary:  There’s only one girl that Daryl has ever fallen in love with, the one who had to leave him and break both their hearts, and the one he’d tried his best to erase from his memory so it wouldn’t hurt that bad. There’s no way he could have guessed that he’d find her again, more than seventeen years later, after the world went to shit and the dead began walking, both their lifes different that what they used to be.
Tags: Sequel to my mini-series “The first to blow your mind.”  You can find it in my mastelist and read it before this or after it as a prequel. Daryl’s POV. My usual combo of slow-burn, fluff and angst.
Chapter: 14/28 Updated on Monday and Thursday.
*
Daryl could see relief go through Y/N’s face when she opened the door and found him back, before she looked worried again. “It’s bad, isn’t it?”
“Yeah.” He nodded, nothing good could come from sugar-coating it. “But we’ll fix it.”
“Jane and Dawn are playing upstairs,” Y/N said, looking inside before closing the door and gesturing Daryl to sit down with her at the swing on the porch. “Tell me.”
“It’s like Rick said, there’s a herd trapped in a quarry, I haven’t seen one that big before. If they broke lose, Alexandria is in their way, they’ll tear the place apart. They ain’t gonna be trapped forever, we have to do something, take them away.”
“Shit, Daryl.” Y/N let out a sigh. “You don’t know how glad I’m you’re here…I mean you, in particular, but your people too. Like…now that I look at it, how can we have been living like this? We felt as if we were so safe, as if nothing bad could happen to us in here…when we had such a threat right outside our door, and if you all weren’t here, if Rick hadn’t found out…we wouldn’t even know what to do…we’d be doomed…just…shit…”
“Hey…” She was right, but Daryl didn’t like to hear her speak like that, it made him feel bad, he didn’t want her thinking that. “We’ll fix it. Rick’s working on it.”
“That plan…Daryl, it sounds dangerous.” She looked at him with uncertain eyes and Daryl hated that she seemed scared. “If the herd is that big…setting it loose, trying to lead it away from us…I don’t know…”
Those Alexandrians had probably never seen so many walkers together, Y/N too, Daryl could understand their fear…hell, he was worried too. But he knew they could do it. “It’ll be okay, we’ll be freeing it in groups that we can handle, they follow the sound so we’ll guide them away,” he explained. “It’ll be okay, I promise.” He didn’t know why he said that. He couldn’t promise such a thing. Yet he couldn’t help himself.
“Okay.” Y/N gave him a weak smile.
“We gotta work our asses off…but we’ll fix it,” he assured her again, glad when Y/N gave him another smile.
“Thanks.”
“Carol told me you started training?” He asked, trying to have her thinking about something else, and he smirked when he heard her groaning.
“Yeah…I’m like, so bad at it.”
“That ain’t true. Carol told me you did good.”
“Yeah?” Y/N smiled in a way that had him smiling too. “That’s…good to know. But I don’t think I could kill even the clumsiest walker…I’ll try to improve, though.”
“Just keep trying, you’ll be good.”
“Good as Carol?” Y/N teased, smiling wider, and Daryl chuckled.
“Ain’t so sure of that, she’s pretty good…”
“Yeah, I know, I’ve just trained for a couple of hours with her and damn, I’m hurting everywhere…” Y/N complained, lifting her sleeve to show her a bruise, and Daryl felt that weird sense of pride again. Then she leaned back, looking at him as she chewed on her lower lip. “You know…I thought…at first…” She trailed off without finishing her sentence.
“What?”
“Nothing…”
“What?” Daryl insisted, frowning in confusion.
“Nothing, just…” Y/N shrugged awkwardly and Daryl arched his eyebrows at her, confused at what was going on. “It’s embarrassing.”
“What is it?” Daryl sounded harsher than he’d wanted, but he couldn’t help it, he just needed her to tell him whatever it was.
“Okay…” Y/N sighed, leaning back further and running a hand through her hair as if hiding. “At first, I thought…first time I saw her…I thought that you and Carol were like a thing, cause…well…yeah”
“A thing?” Daryl blinked at her. “What you mean?”
Y/N groaned, sinking even further into her seat. “I mean…that I thought she was like your wife or something…” Daryl could just look at her at that, wordless and dumbfounded. “Come on! I hadn’t seen you in more than seventeen years, I thought you’d have someone…and you both seemed close…I thought if you weren’t together from before, you were now…”
“She ain’t…we ain’t…” Daryl stammered, all flustered now that he knew what was in Y/N’s mind.
“Yeah, yeah, I know…it was just that first moment.” Y/N shrugged, seeming just as embarrassed.
Daryl didn’t know what to say, and so he said nothing, and neither did Y/N. After a while, though, she looked at him as he chewed on her lip again, and Daryl felt nervous wondering what was she thinking now.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Carol and I never-” He began, shifting on his seat as he felt beyond uncomfortable.
“I know, I know, it’s not that.” Y/N stopped him. “Just…all these years…did you have someone like that, before? Like, a woman or…someone…you don’t have to tell me…”
Daryl didn’t know why Y/N was asking him all that now and he chewed on his thumbnail nervously, shaking his head. “No. No like that,” he rasped, wondering what would Y/N think, what was she expecting him to say.
“Really? Why?” Daryl didn’t know what to answer to that, he didn’t know the answer, so he just shrugged awkwardly, chewing at the skin of his fingernail. “I thought…I don’t know…I guessed you’d have…dunno…it was…seventeen years, so I thought…” Y/N trailed off.
“Ain’t like you got yourself married either,” Daryl blurted out, realizing too late that it was probably a wrong thing to say, but Y/N just snorted.
“Hey, I got myself a kid, does that seem little to you?”
Daryl shook his head no. Having a kid was no little thing…and Jane wasn’t a little thing at all. But now that Y/N talked about it, it did surprise him that Y/N hadn’t gotten married or had had any serious relationship, not even with the father of her daughter, unless she hadn’t told him about it. Him…was him…but Y/N…She was smart, fun, beautiful, she could have gotten anyone she wanted, he was sure, yet it seemed she hadn’t, she’d told him how lonely she had felt, to the point of having a kid with a man she didn’t love. But Daryl was sure she could have gotten someone whom she loved, someone who loved her. ..yet she hadn’t. He didn’t know what to think about it all.
He didn’t realize he’d kept bitting his thumbnail until Y/N took his hand, inspecting the skin that was starting to bleed and preventing him from biting it more. She didn’t let go of his hand, the touch sending electricity rushing through him and he could feel his fingers twitching nervously, but he hoped Y/N didn’t let go of his hand.
“I kind of…like it that way…that you didn’t have anyone…” Y/N suddenly said, seeming thoughtful and making Daryl frown at her. “Goodness, that came out wrong, sorry,” Y/N rushed to apologize, biting her lip as she looked at him. “I mean…what I mean is that…if you had a wife, or kids, or both…anything like that…and you didn’t have them with you now..well, I guess it probably meant that you lost them in this mess of a world…and I don’t want you going through something like that.”
Yes…he understood what Y/N meant now. He had lost people, though, important people, friends, family, and every time it had hurt as if his heart was being ripped. First with Merle, he hadn’t felt that broken before, and then all the others…Hershel and Beth were still a bolt to the heart, and he didn’t think the feeling would ever leave…and there was that couple of times he thought he had lost Carol too…
“You have lost enough…” Y/N whispered as if reading his mind, her fingers lacing with his, and Daryl nodded, unable to speak and not knowing what to say anyway. “Sorry, I’m depressing…I made you sad…”
“Nah…it’s okay…”
“Just…I know how lucky I am to have Jane safe with me, that were are both safe…” Yes, she was right, and Daryl’d do everything he could so they’d keep being safe. “And I’m…well…a bit surprised that you…didn’t got anyone in all these years, but…not in a bad way, cause…I mean…well, it’s okay…”
“I know it’s okay…” Daryl frowned, once again uncomfortable and wondering again what the hell Y/N meant.
If Y/N was going to say anything else, she was interrupted by the voice of Jane coming from inside. “Mom, what’s for dinner?” Then she was walking out, Dawn following her. “Daryl! Hi!” She grinned, and Dawn waved shyly at him too. Damn, they really were cute kids.
“Spaghetti, again,” Y/N answered, letting go of his hand. “Dawn, do you want to stay for dinner?” The little girl nodded, smiling softly.
“And you?” Jane asked him taking Daryl by surprise.
“I ain’t gonna say no to spaghetti.” He heard himself saying.
“Mind you, those are not like Eric’s…I’m warning you…” Y/N said, getting up to walk into the house.
*
Daryl didn’t know why Y/N complained that much about her food. Her spaghetti wasn’t bad, it was actually good, not Eric’s level, but good, and he found himself devouring mouthful after mouthful, which judging by the way Y/N looked at him, it seemed to please her.
“An improvement from the sandwiches,” he joked and Y/N snorted, nudging him.
It was…strange, and normal, having spaghetti with Y/N and the kids, everyone seeming content…as if just the day before a man hadn’t died murdered by another neighbor who also got himself killed…as if the biggest herd of walkers weren’t trapped at the outside of Alexandria, ready to break loose and tear through the settlement, as if tomorrow they didn’t have to start working to prevent that from happening. Yes…it was strange, and normal, and Daryl didn’t know what to think, how it made him feel, but he knew it didn’t make him feel bad, no matter how surreal everything was.
He wasn’t looking forward to leave after dinner, for some reason, as it seemed to always happen lately whenever he was with Y/N, but he knew Rick needed him, he’d been away for too long already, there were things to do and to get ready for the next day.
For some reason, while Y/N washed the dishes, Jane insisted on walking him to the door. It seemed to amuse Y/N, but Daryl found himself glancing suspiciously at the little girl as she walked with him outside, wondering if she wasn’t up to something. Before he could say goodbye and rush away, Jane spoke.
“Do you like my mom?”
“What?” Daryl almost chocked, feeling blood rushing through his face, blushing up to his hears.
Jane rolled her eyes at him. “I saw you holding hands, before, do you like her?” Daryl opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water, not knowing what to do or say as his brain seemed to stop working, feeling cornered and like running away, but he refused to run away from a little girl, even if all his cells were urging him to do so…it was ridiculous…and yet. “So?” Jane pressed, arching her eyebrows.
“I…I…yeah, she’s my friend…”
“Hmm…hmm…” Jane hummed, not seeming very impressed. “Well, she does like you.”
Once again, Daryl didn’t know what to say or even what to think. So Y/N…but yeah, he was his friend too,  so she must like him…unless Jane meant…but nah…anyway why was he listening to a kid…she was just messing around and what did she know anyway…
“Gotta go,” he muttered, turning around.
“Hey!” Jane called after him. “It’s okay if you like my mom! You’re nice!”
*
The next day, the construction of the wall to lead the walkers began. It was damn hard word, the sun beating on them, not resting so it’d be finished as soon as possible, the threat of the walkers breaking loose at any moment hanging over them. Daryl grunted as he dug one of the ditches for a new wall, all his muscles aching after hours and hours of working nonstop.
He knew he should have slept more than he had, knowing the day that he had ahead, but his brain hadn’t wanted to shut up, replaying Jane’s words. A kid’s words…Daryl knew it was stupid and yet…
Did he like Y/N? Yeah, of course he did…but Jane seemed to be implying something more than friendly. He had loved her once, yeah…but did he now? Or it was just a memory of it…he didn’t like her the same way he liked Carol, did that mean something? Yeah, she stirred things…and when he closed his eyes he could almost see himself leaning in, the feeling of her lips on his and…
No. He had to stop it. He had fallen once for her and it had broken his heart. Why he couldn’t just be her friend, care for her, without his brain doing weird things? She had cared for him once…he still did. Had she loved him? Daryl wasn’t sure…but it seemed like she might have. That didn’t mean she still had those feelings, seventeen damn years had come and gone.
And yet Jane said that Y/N liked him…and sure she did, they were friends…but did Jane meant…nah, nah, he needed to stop this bullshit, Jane was a kid, what did she know anyway, this was ridiculous. There were far more important business to focus on, he had a job to do, he needed to focus and stop his mind from wandering to nonsense.
There was no point in overthinking it.  He got Y/N again, miraculously so, she was back in his life, seemed to sill care for him, spending time with him…even though she hadn’t seen him in years and years…she was with him again…he couldn’t let himself mess that…
He was still lost in thought when he felt something wet and cold pressing against the back of his neck, taking him by surprise, and he let out an embarrassing yelp. He turned around to see what the hell was going on to find Y/N laughing at his reaction, seeming thoroughly amused as he held a can of soda on her hand.
“Sorry!” She apologized without stopping giggling and Daryl blushed, embarrassed at himself. “But you looked like you needed it.” She held the can for him, and even though Daryl had begun to feel grumpy, embarrassed as he was, her smile made him feel better, somehow.
“Thanks…” He murmured, taking the can. He had water, but it had gone warm by now. “What you doing out here.” He looked around, instinctually scanning for danger even though he knew there weren’t walkers close, and also wondering if Y/N had come alone. It seemed like so. “You came alone from Alexandria?” It was dangerous, no matter he was pleased to see that Y/N had attached his knife, now hers, to her belt. It was dangerous for her to go out alone.
“No, with Carol, she went to speak with Rick, though,” she said, and Daryl relaxed, watching as Carol waved at him from ahead as she walked towards another group. “We just finished training and I wanted to come and see how everything was going. Seems tiring.”
“It is.” Daryl nodded, taking a long sip of the soda before passing the can back to Y/N so she could drink too. “But if we keep it like this, we’ll have it all ready in a couple of days.”
“Good…” Y/N sipped at the soda and gave it back to him. “Maybe I should come to give a hand…”
“Nah, you’re working at the pantry.” Honestly, Daryl didn’t want her out there when it wasn’t that safe and she wasn’t still very experienced with the knife, not with such a big herd close and without him being able to keep a close eye on her.
“Yes, ‘cause that’s such a hard job…” She scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“Besides, you gotta keep training, alright?”
“That’s true.” Y/N smiled at that. “I’m not sure, but I think today I did a bit better…at least I hadn’t forgotten all I learned yesterday…” There was again, that weird sense of pride at hearing that she was doing well at training. “Anyway…I wanted to see the quarry, would you take me there?”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, please…”
Reluctantly, Daryl walked her there, watching her face as she took in the herd of walkers trapped in the quarry, eyes widening at the sight.
“Shit, Daryl…” Her scared eyes were now on him, before drifting back to the herd. “I know you told me it was big, but this…damn…”
“Hey, we’re working on it.” Daryl tried to reassure her, placing a hand on her shoulder and squeezing gently. “We’ll fix it.”
“Yeah…” Y/N nodded, giving him a grateful smile and placing her hand on top of his, making him feel all weird again, Jane’s words back to his mind, he couldn’t help it, but he tried to stop it.
“Come on, I’ll get you back.”
“Jane’s going to be all grumpy when she knows I actually went out and didn’t let her…” Y/N chuckled softly and Daryl chewed on his lip before actually saying what he was thinking.
“When it’s safe, we could go out with her, maybe, if you want…” He said as he walked, looking down. “Could go to the woods, maybe…”
“Sounds good.” To his relief, Y/N nodded, smiling. “I always liked to go out to the woods with you.”
“Alright…” Those twirls were back on his stomach and there was no way of stopping them.
*
Everything was done and ready, though Daryl checked everything once again, just in case, while Rick reminded the plan to the Alexandrians once again. Today there’d review everything, and tomorrow they’d begin leading the herd away.
Before he knew what was happening, before anyone could do anything, one of the trucks balanced near the edge of the cliff fell down, tearing apart everything that was keeping the herd trapped in the quarry, the sound attracting them and they began to move towards the opening.
“Come on! Come, people!” Rick was urging everyone. “We have to start now, everyone has a job to do! Come on, now!”
Daryl’s mind was in Alexandria, though, in the people there, Y/N, Jane, Carol, Aaron, Eric…if they didn’t manage, the herd would go right to them…they needed to stop it, he had to get moving and do something, do his job, he couldn’t just stand there looking at the herd pouring out the quarry.
He kicked into action, rushing to his bike and riding towards the herd, as close as he could without it being too dangerous, making noise until he managed to get a big portion of the herd following him, and soon Sasha and Abraham were joining him on a truck as planned, leading as many walkers away as they could.
Come on.
It had to work.
