Being asked to rate your pain on a scale as someone who has had chronic pain for several years is so difficult. Like how am I supposed to rate the pain I am experiencing from 1-10 when I have no idea what it feels like to not be in pain. Like what is 0? what is 1?? what is even 10???? What am I comparing it to???? My 5 can be someone else's 10 and their 10 can be someone else's 2, and how is a doctor or anyone else for that matter supposed to tell the difference? Maybe it's because I'm autistic and I'm just overthinking it but it literally makes no sense to me.

Just found out the tax return I'm using to buy forearm crutches can take 8 weeks to get to me. Having legs can wait, I guess.
Also, the fact that I have to use my tax return to be able to walk is fucking dystopian as shit, I hate it here.

If you want to call yourself "madpunk", "cripplepunk", "neuropunk", etc, your activism better not stop at the things you find "bad". People with no empathy. People with personality disorders. People who need their aids in daily life. People who have extreme fluctuating emotions. People with paraphilias. People with dissociative disorders. Psychotic people. People who have different modes of eating, excreting, having sex, etc. Homeless people. People who wear diapers. People who have violent urges/thoughts. People who you think are "dangerous". People who use drugs. People who need medication to survive and live. People with physical deformities. People who have delusions. People who struggle with feeding themselves, cleaning, working, etc.
If you think any of these factors make someone "abusive", you are ableist. Abusers are abusive. None of the above things make someone an abuser.
Madpunk and cripplepunk aren't just "adhd and autism punk". Or "mobility aid user punk". Keep that in mind.

please please please don’t forget to include intellectual disability, psychosis / schizospec disorders, level 2-3 autistics, folks w dissociative disorders, and others with “severe mental illness” from ur conversations about mad liberation.
these are some of the most vulnerable and disenfranchised mad people, and we need to give them a voice.
these are the places where liberation is needed the most

A “flash warning” in font to small to read is not a proper flash warning
A “flash warning” in the corner of the post where you cannot see it right away is not a proper flash warning
A “flash warning” that appears the same time as the flash is not a proper flash warning
A “flash warning” in a hard to read font is not a proper flash warning
A “flash warning” in the caption is not a proper flash warning
A “flash warning” in the comments is not a proper flash warning
A proper flash warning is
- in a big, easy to read font
- is up for enough time before the flash for someone to read
- is in the middle of the screen
Put proper flash warnings

why does everyone want disabled people to be quiet? nobody cares about our struggles. nobody is excited with us when we get what we need. everyone feels so bad for us. but when we feel bad everyone says "well, get used to it" but dont care to change the inaccessibility. this is all blurry. my mind is blurry. idk anymore. do you understand what I'm saying? please dont let this flop. scream this from the rooftop. please.

the best class im taking this semester is literally called “queer/crip stories” and is taught by a chronically ill, queer professor
they’re understanding of all kinds of needs
i stim using my phone a lot, don’t get in trouble for going on my phone
last thursday i felt like crap and needed to lay down due to my pots and was also crying, prof said to do it without asking next time and not a single student gave me a weird look, AND one even got water for me bc i couldn’t stand yet
it’s such a nice and interesting class with such an amazing group of people

"The Biden era has normalized illness and demonized mitigations for the sake of “back to normal”. We now live in a country where educated liberals genuinely think it’s okay-and in fact good- that their kids are constantly ill (to be expected given the immune system-damaging nature of COVID). Where leftists argue that killing old people is less harmful than wearing masks. Where concern for community health is painted as cowardly and using the modern scientific tools we are lucky enough to have is portrayed as rude and stupid. And terribly, this liberal political project under Joe Biden has come down like a hammer on community solidarity, leaving “the vulnerable” squabbling with their mocking former comrades. It’s hard to overstate just how much damage the normalization of COVID has done to the very concepts of public health and community.
My beliefs throughout the pandemic have never changed: that vulnerable people deserve access to society, that mitigation must be prioritized, that great progress is possible with great effort, that community care is most critical in times of state abandonment. It’s hard to know where to go from here, at the nadir of a COVID response that vilifies and mocks any gesture toward prevention and care. But for those of us who are still here, education must start from a place of unpacking several years-worth of propaganda, while learning from disability justice activists who have reckoned with their social marginalization for decades.
Despite the multitude of falsehoods that continue to be poured over the heads of our comrades by outlets that can’t or won’t reckon with Biden’s failure, the truth has the advantage of being obvious, and patient. So we’ll continue to repeat it, until the people are ready to hear it: COVID is not mild. COVID is not harmless. COVID is not inevitable. COVID is not over. Stay safe out there."
