There's a demon prince at the party your at. It's a fancy social event in some family freind's penthouse, your parents took you there because they wanted you to network, whatever that means. And there's just this demon standing there, talking to people. He's a leader in the abyssal army, and is responsible for conquering and brutally subjecting parts of the western fae realms and the parts of the shadow lands during the bloodfyr wars.
All the humans at the party talk about him like he's such a cool guy when you mention him. Even people your age that you thought you could trust. When you exclaim that he's a demon prince, they'll defend him by saying things like "not everyone in that position is necessarily a bad person, even if you dissagree with the system" or "but he's so sweet though, I'm sure he uses his power responsibility".
When you actually talk to the demon prince you're afraid to say anything, he's nearly twice your hight, and covered in black armor, with glowing red eyes peeking through his helmet. But he's nice to you. Fluffs your hair, and calls you a good kid, he's the only person at the party to get your pronouns right the first time. He seems like such a nice and personable guy, at least at this party, you know very well that there are places where he's not nice.
Eventually you yell to the entire party that he's a monster, thar he's killed thousands and faeries and shadow people, and oppressed and tormented thousands more. Everyone is mad at you, for making a scene, and for being so mean to someone who didn't do anything to hurt you. You end up escorted out by security for disruptive behavior. It feels worth it, to make someone like that feel like he's a little less able to get away with what he's done.

So at my workplace, we fund a Food Is Free shelf. It's the basics: take what you need, give what you can - our town has a high level of poverty, there's a cost of living crisis, be the good you want to see in the world etc etc.
Today we had a guy knock on the door and ask if we had a plastic bag he could use to carry a few things - I said sure, got him a plastic bag, and he started packing up his 2 rolls of toilet paper, his 3 or 4 foodstuff items. He said he'd been to a funeral out of town (1500 kms away) and spent his paycheck on fuel - he was only broke till Friday, he said.
And I said, well I'm glad we could help, it's why we have the shelf. We want the community to use it.
And he said:
But people ABUSE it! I've seen people take heaps of stuff from it - and they don't even have kids or anything. And it's fair enough, some people are struggling until the next paycheck, but other people just ABUSE it. You need a sign that says TAKE ONE ITEM ONLY or something. I've taken something from here maybe twice, but I've seen people coming round every week! I've even put stuff on the shelf! Yeah, you need CAMERAS or something. People abuse it.
So here is a man who is actively utilising a public resource that we created to support our local community...And yet he is so brainwashed by capitalism into thinking that people don't deserve basic needs - if they're not working hard, or maybe they're struggling but they don't have it As Bad as others, or they're using a FREE RESOURCE more often than HE thinks is acceptable. He thinks that we should use security cameras to crack down on people "STEALING" from the Food is FREE shelf. Like he's more worthy, like he's a better person, because he doesn't need as much help as others might.
Sometimes, when something is free, people might abuse it. But isn't it better to offer the support to people who need it? To offer an opportunity for people to get back on their feet (even if they're only broke till Friday)? To provide help, no questions asked and no conditions needed?
So what if people abuse it - isn't it worth it if helps someone?

Here's something Disney desperately does not want anyone to know:
When you create your own original design for Mickey Mouse now that he's Public Domain, you now own that version of Mickey Mouse.
This is the same reason that Disney owns their versions of Rapunzel, Cinderella, Briar Rose, and more, even though these characters came from the Public Domain.
If you make an original design for Mickey Mouse, it belongs to you. You own the copyright. Disney cannot use that design for profit unless they get your permission and/or pay you. The exact same way you can't use Disney's version of Cinderella for profit.
Copyright goes both ways, despite what the billionaires who run megacorporations want you to think. They rely on you thinking of them as all powerful and unstoppable. But the rules do in fact apply to them too. They are not all-powerful. They're not invincible. They're greedy, lying bastards who rely on your hopeless fear.
Have hope, be bold, go forth and create with joy.
Edit because I remembered another example:
This is also why you're not supposed to show writers your fanfiction for their series! Even though you are writing fanfiction, and the characters belong to their creator, what you have written belongs to you! Writers do not want to accidentally steal from you by incorporating your fanfiction into the official material, because that does genuinely open them up to lawsuits! They're taking your ideas and profiting off them!

I feel like yall don't know bout earthships??
An earthship is a building that's built out of recycled materials (glass bottles, old tires, cans, etc..) and mostly Cob walls with solarpanels, wind turbines, greenhouses, and large water capture system to ensure all you need within the walls. All these components help regulate the temp for both plants and you creating a proper oasis from all of itnall
Here's a good dissection of one to give you an idea
Tumblr media
The most famous one, and one of the first ones ever made back in the 1970s by a small off grid group working together is The Phoenix which was built as the model for how cool these guys could be its now a place you can take tours or rent-

But now there is so many different styles and cool ideas for it! Now some of these are merely concepts

But you can adapt them to any weather for your particular light/weather/energy conditions.
The main thing about Earthships is typically they are illegal to build as the US government considers them waste sites due to the materials their built out of.

you don't have to be productive for your life to matter; you have inherent worth simply by being alive. your productivity also doesn't determine if you're a good or bad person; you are more than what capitalism expects you to be.
you are an entire person with feelings, dreams, thoughts, wants, needs, things you enjoy, values... that matters a lot more than working in any capacity - as a job, at school, at home... you're just so much more significant than that.

In the earliest 2000s I saw a documentary where a very esteemed ecologist (idk his name, don't remember, I was a kid ya know) said "Money isn't real. The environment is." and I have been excessively annoying about this exact subject (that money is FAKE but our planet is REAL) ever since

I fucking hate this "capitalism is when you make money, the more money you make, the more capitalism it is" mindset people have gotten. No, an artist selling their own work is not them engaging in capitalism, it's literally a worker owning their own means of production.
Remember capitalism is someone profiting off of someone else's labor though owning capital. It is not simply the act of profiting at all.

Remember, a solarpunk future without support for the disabled population is just green-washed ableism.
A solarpunk future that doesn't include (or purposely excludes) Indigenous/PoC populations is just green-washed white supremacy/colonialism.
A solarpunk future that doesn't feed the hungry or house the poor is just green-washed capitalism.
Solarpunk is more than just an aesthetic. It's a hope for a better future for everyone.
