The Whole Watcher Debacle

Just giving my two cents on the whole Watcher situation. I've been following this since it started, and initially, I wasn't going to say anything, but honestly, why not? (lol)

I want to start off by saying that this was not a good business decision to make. By pulling this, they are essentially alienating their international and low-income fans. The world is going through a global economic crisis, and the fact is that creating a streaming subscription service when companies like Disney and Netflix themselves are struggling is not a sound financial decision. Saying $6/month is "affordable for everyone and anyone" is a tone-deaf statement. In this economy, that is the difference between getting to eat for a day or not. It's not just "two cups of coffee". It's quite literally life or death for some people.

Now, before I get hounded by people saying that "artists deserve to get paid for their works" and "it's all about paying artists until you have to pay them yourselves." I do support small artists and small business owners. I support smaller creatives whenever I can and whenever I have the means to. The problem is that Watcher is not a small artist. They are not even a small business. They are, and apparently always have been a company. In addition to that, they are getting paid. They profit from ad reads, views, Adsense, patreon, merch, and live shows.

Their patreon alone nets them at a minimum of $30k per month. This is on the lower side, mind you. I've heard some other content creators talk about this, and it's estimated that they make around $50k-$100k from AdSense and views. On top of that, they get paid $15k-$30k per sponsored video, and a vast majority of their videos are sponsored. They would make around 60k-120k from sponsorships alone. Add all this together, and they make at least $140k monthly. This is, again, the least, and this does not count in profit from their merch or live shows. Their merch sells for anywhere between $60-90 depending on the item, and they continuously sell out. I don't know how much their live shows are, but I imagine it's something along those lines. If even 100 people bought merch, although this is likely in the thousands, they would make 6,000 minimum from just merch. The current national minimum wage in the United States is around 7 dollars. Per month, if you worked for 40 hours per week, you would make around $1,120. They are making nearly 5 times that just from their merch. They make, on the low end, $150k per month. This is more money in one month than most people can make in 2 and a half years. Even the lower end of money on Patreon makes them more money than most people make in a year. Annually, they are making, and this is greatly underestimating the amount they make, at least $1 million. On the higher end, if we calculate that they are making around $100k per month via Patreon, and we estimate with their sponsorships, the range only increases, to around $320k, adding the higher end of sponsorship money and AdSense. Yearly, that's almost $4 million. Their range is $1million-$4million. I'm sorry, but if you are netting in this profit and still need more for your business, then you are doing something wrong.

Watcher are not struggling artists living paycheck to paycheck and barely making ends meet. They are a multi-million dollar company whose owners live very comfortable lives. This is fine, but they should not act like they are struggling when this business venture was because they were operating outside their means and want to go even further beyond that. YouTube is terrible regarding many things; I get it. There is nothing wrong with creatives wishing to expand, but if you financially cannot support that decision, you should not do so. I am not okay with people being hateful and bringing up unnecessary things. Still, the fact remains that all of their CEOs show their very lavish lives and spending online and constantly talk about it on their podcasts. They could not afford those things if they were truly struggling like they tried to make people believe. Some people are being rude online, yes, and that's not a good thing, but the vast majority are being rightfully upset and are giving valid criticism on why this is a bad idea.

Watcher is not worth a $6/month subscription. They do not have enough content to justify this decision, nor do they have enough followers. Youtubers with followings much larger than theirs have tried to do this and failed. Paywalling their content is not the right move. It essentially stagnates their growth. How are people going to find them, and how are they going to get attention for this? Posting one video on YouTube every time you make a new series -which we don't know how frequently they will update- will not push that content to people. Also, most people who see that initial trailer or episode will not pay $6 monthly to see the rest. The fact is that, like it or not, at $6, they are competing with some of the biggest companies in the industry. Companies like Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime, and more all have standards ad supscriptions ranging from $ 5-8 dollars, and they have a catalog of thousands of shows, movies, and more. Yes, it sucks that there is a capitalistic monopoly on these services, but switching to it is not going to help them. Going from YouTube to Vimeo OTT will not net them the profit they think it will. They will struggle on this platform because it's arguably worse than YouTube, and eventually, it will raise the price to keep content up, so they will raise their streaming price.

That's another thing. They advertised this as their own service, unattached to anything else when it's not. It's still run by another company, and now they must pay that company. It feels disingenuous to say this when it is not true. It is not an app or something you can play on TV; it is a website, a fairly sketchy one at that.

There is, again, a cost of living crisis going on. Most people cannot afford to put food on the table, much less spend this money on a streaming service. And even if people wanted to pay, they've barred their international audience from doing so. If you are not in the US, you will have to pay for a VPN to use since the website is not available outside the US, and you will also have to pay a conversion fee since they did not include regional scaling of prices. $6/month is already a lot for people in the US but for people living in other countries with a weaker currency? That's anywhere from a week of groceries to a third of their rent. They did not consider how this would affect international fans, and that's not a good business practice.

And since I will get the inevitable, "You aren't entitled to free content," I'll say this. Yes, people are not entitled to content, but creators are not entitled to people's money. The truth is that if your audience does not like something or want something, then you will not get their support. As a content creator, you must cater to your audience; you can't expect them to pay for or be interested in other content or passion projects. Also, their content is clearly not free. They do get paid. In no world do they not get paid. I will reiterate that they are not small, struggling artists who can't afford to live. Watcher isn't a small indie company that barely gets by. It is a million-dollar company with around 25 employees who live lavishly in one of the most expensive cities in the world. They do not need more money. They want more money.

Plus, people are entitled to their content when that content is mostly based on fan-submission. A lot of Watchers shows rely heavily upon fan submissions and support. Are You Scared?, Too Many Spirits, Food Files, and Ghost Files happen because fans submit stories, places to go, evidence, and more. In fact, Are You Scared and Too Many Spirits are just stories and personal anecdotes that fans share and submit, or that Watcher finds online and read aloud in a backyard. (NOT what I would call TV quality, but okay...)

They posted a while ago that they were taking submissions for a new season of Are You Scared?, Too Many Spirits, and Ghost Files. They did this fully well-aware that they would soon release a paywall. Do they expect fans to pay 6 dollars to see their own submissions? Additionally, they could pass it off as free before this- even though they were getting paid- but now they are locking this service behind a paywall, meaning they make money directly from these stories and this content. People who submitted stories should be compensated since Watcher makes money from fan content.

This still does not acknowledge that they have not responded yet. It has been nearly three days since this blew up, and they have been almost silent. And it is deafening. The only things people have gotten are posts and statements from friends and spouses of the owners that are as out-of-touch and ridiculous as this decision. This shows people that they are doubling down. They had time in the initial 24 hours to respond, and the longer they took to respond, the worse it was getting. It's very telling and a slap in the face to people who have supported them for years, from Buzzfeed to this, through many different times, including the pandemic. Watcher relies so heavily on their audience, yet they do not have the respect for their audience to at least put out a small statement. That is why people are upset. They were helped and built up so much by their audience, then made a video saying, "Thanks for supporting us for years, but if you can't afford us anymore, get out," and maintained radio silence. At the same time, their close friends and family basically called people entitled for not wanting to pay for a service they did not ask for, during a global economic crisis. No one asked for "higher production value" or "TV quality." People were happy with normal, low-production content, like the kind that got them famous/popular in the first place. Yes, they can want to make more expensive content, but they cannot guilt-trip their fanbase into paying for it. I am a small creative. If I make a ridiculously expensive art piece or something with expensive materials, then hand it to someone and say, now you have to pay me for this, even though you didn't ask for this, they will not pay me. It's as simple as that.

Yes, artists should get paid. But Watcher already get paid generously. Not only have they done wrong to their fans, but they have also screwed over their patreon members by essentially saying that they have to pay double for their content. They suddenly switched the tiers on Patreon, removed most of the content, and left only the podcast, and their members do not even get the subscription for free. Most of their Patreon members pay between the $ 10 and $20 tiers, but many also pay around $100. They don't get the service for free even after paying Watcher that much and for so many years. That's spitting on the people who have financially supported you for years.

All in all, this is a very poor financial and business decision, and they are making it worse by remaining silent. They have alienated most of their audience, upset most paying supporters, and been trending for three days for all the wrong reasons. Massive YouTubers have made videos on this, and it has broken from fandom drama into the general internet. This is the beginning of the end, unfortunately. I don't wish any ill will, this is not hate at all. No one at Watcher is a bad person at all, they just made a bad business decision. Unless they apologize, I can't see this working out.

Sorry for the massively long post, I’m not an avid watcher (hehe) or fan of their content but I've had many thoughts bouncing around my head about this business decision since this started, and I wanted to share.

TLDR: Watcher made a seriously bad business decision that upset most of their audience, including paying supporters; claimed to be struggling even though they very clearly aren't and have not responded to their incensed fanbase yet, despite the urgent need to do so.

soooo many reversals for this pile o.m.g. pile 3 not even a hug can fix your wounded heart. lol in all seriousness. pile 3 recently you’ve been in a LOT of conflict. and some of you hate to admit it… you’re the ones who start it a lot of the time. this doesn’t mean you WANT conflict hearsay. but you are someone who is a force to be reckoned with at times. take what i say personally because this is a biggggg wake up call to some of you. there are people in your life who love love love to see you fail. they crave the validation of watching you mess up in life. don’t believe me? how many so called friends actually are worried about how YOU feel? if you haven’t been able to open up with somebody due to fear or someone’s lack of interest they are NOT your friend. they’re an energy vampire. get rid of these people immediately. you may also experience a lack of focus recently followed with extreme frustrations. do some shadow work. why are you feeling these emotions? they’re not just showing up out of thin air. where are you when you feel these emotions? at home ? with a friend ? at work ? etc. what is happening in this setting that is making you feel such frustration? somebody talking too loud ? a loud chewer ? or just merely being there in the first place ? figure out what this reason is and try to understand it. maybe if your willing copy that thing. does it feel good to do? or does it only make you angrier? a lot of you cannot move on and properly heal because you’re stuck in the past. something has hurt you in your past badly but you can’t seem to let it go. you feel fearful? you’re very similar to pile 1. you’re afraid of change? some of you have become very very comfortable in this dark part of you. you’re afraid of leaving this headspace because you’ve lived in it for so long. start giving to others more? ask people how they’re feeling and about their day. soon enough you’ll see a change. more interactions less frustration. but don’t just ask other people, ask yourself. how are you feeling today? are you comfortable right now? what are you feeling is yummy for lunch/dinner? etc. do NOT by any means get up and walk away from this. you are capable of becoming that desired you. don’t let these thoughts interfere with your way of life; you are worth it.

Rei and Miri in Buddy Daddies Episode 5 - SPOILERS!

Even though there was a lot of focus on Kazuki, rightfully, fretting, I do feel like this episode focused a lot more on Rei’s bond with Miri.

First we start off with Rei and Miri playing games together. A big change from Ep. 2 when Miri was roll all over his games and when Miri asked if he has Morio Kart, he gave a quick and clear “No.” Though it seems like he has Morio Kart now, because of those sound effects and the way Miri is moving around while she is playing. It’s like she is leaning into the movement of her kart, I used to do that a lot as a kid playing games, and still do that when I’m really into it as well:

Then we have Kazuki telling them all the stuff they can’t buy or get anymore because the money is tight, and we get this scene below:

Of both Miri and Rei looking at Kazuki like he is awful, lol. This scene above really does feel like a family moment though, they feel like a family unit here, and they should, since they’ve had Miri for a little more than three months now. We see at the start of this episode that it’s the end of March (it makes me wonder if the series will get to May and “Mother’s Day” and how that will get handled).

Then later we see Rei focusing on the fact that Miri has homework. He focuses in on the presentation aspect of the assignment ( “tell...everyone?”), while Kazuki focuses in the “parent’s job” aspect. I’d imagine that, outside of the “it being told to everyone” aspect, the presentation aspect would be the worst part for him, personally. Meanwhile, Kazuki is the one that cares a bit more about image and the like, so he focuses in the job aspect specifically.

I’ll go back to that conversation on her homework in a little bit. But, for now, when he tries to get away, Miri is the one that stops him this time, instead of Kazuki like in the past.

Later, when Miri gets lost, he lets out a little huff of concern when he tells Kazuki that “Miri’s gone.” Rei is a generally more composed person, he doesn’t really express his feelings, unlike Kazuki who is very open and very freaked out. Jumping to some...WILD...conclusions, not only in regards to Miri, but to stuff involving Kyutaro. Though Miri is a very good girl and tries her best to not say “papas,” lol. And I can’t really capture it here, but Rei was really putting in a lot of speed when he runs off to try and find her along with Kazuki. (Side note: I love how the animation keeps in his hunched over position and lazy gait, even when he is running).

Then, towards the end of the episode, they spend time to show Rei gently, carefully, and properly picking up Miri. She isn’t being placed in his arms like Ep. 2 or running into his arms for him to pick up like Ep. 3. In Ep. 4 we do see him holding her in his lap, but I think this is the first time we’ve seen him actually pick her up like this.

And he’s the one that says, “Let’s head home, then.” Between last week, when they gave Miri her room, and this week, with him acknowledging his apartment as their home, it seems like he is fully accepting of the idea that Kazuki and Miri are going to be permanent fixtures of his life and will just be living in his apartment.

And the way Miri worded this, “And it’s toasty warm when we all sleep together!” makes me think that the whole “sleeping in one bed” thing happened more than once. Maybe she is only talking about before she had her bed, but she might be talking about times when she had a nightmare or something and slept together with them (though, we do see Rei still sleeping in the bathtub this episode, unless he only did that because Kazuki was out). Hmm...

Anyway, after Rei picks her up, she immediately knew it was him and not Kazuki. She’s likely still in a half-awake, half-asleep phase and was probably able to recognize it was him through scent, warmth, the feel of his jacket, etc. All these small things that indicate that she has been held close by him and knows what it’s like to be held by him.

Kazuki’s expression is obviously his worry over her spilling the beans here on them being her papas, but Rei’s expression...I don’t know. I feel it may be more shock that she knew it was him. Especially given the shot right after she says it and starts breathing easily again (the image above). He seems reassured about the fact that she is safe and unharmed and knows her Papa Rei, even when she is practically asleep. Then he shoots daggers at Kyutaro initially when he states “I know everything” in a very serious voice. He was probably getting ready to fight for Miri (like, physically).

This all ties back into him adjusting to Miri in the sense of realizing he needs to take more responsibility for her safety, especially after Kyutaro gives him and Kazuki a tough love style speech on the danger and responsibility they are going to have realize and face by bringing Miri into their lives and being her fathers.

Finally, we have her presentation. Kazuki tells her thanks for the pictures she drew of them, while Rei focuses more on her skills, “Well done” (on the presentation). It makes me wonder if Rei may end up being the one that acknowledges and helps her with her academic skills more than Kazuki, since that is an area more relatable to him (value being placed in skills). His eyes look softer too.

You are an upcoming Twitch streamer who has around 8,000

subscribers, streaming Call of Duty Modern Warfare II on a Friday

night- very typical for someone like you. You were playing with

another streamer at the time; she was a good friend from college and

had more subscribers (about 500k) than you had. She is the one who

suggested that since you have always been a gamer, you try your

hand at being a streamer. While your friend Jocey, a fellow Twitch

streamer, left to get a drink, you were considering which operator to

get by looking through the storefront within the game. "Okay chat

which skin should I purchase?" The 4,560 viewers of the livestream

immediately started spamming the chatroom with "Messi" or

"Neymar Jr.", which wasn't much assistance because so many people

said one or the other that it was impossible to determine which one

was most popular. "Well, that wasn't much help, now was it?" you

chuckle. Leaning closer to the monitor as you modify your position

on your gaming chair, you try to decide which one you like. You click

to make the purchase while muttering to yourself. "I guess I'll

choose Neymar for the time being and get Messi afterwards." Even

though you didn't know much about Messi or Neymar, you were

aware that they were two of the best three football players in the

world. Once more you glance over at the chatroom and read, "Why

don't I just buy both? Since I spend most of my money on new video

games, I really can't afford to buy both." Jocey's voice may be heard

briefly through the microphone saying, "Yeah, you totally didn't

spend your money on going to a concert." "Alright, maybe that was it

too." You click on the game invitation she sent you and muttered. You

inquire, raising an eyebrow, "Search and Destroy?" She answers

swiftly, “Another streamer wanted to host a search and destroy

lobby, is that okay? If not, we can go back to doing our own thing.”

You're not bothered at all. Call of Duty's Search and Destroy game

mode calls for 4-6 players per squad. While the other team works to

defuse it, one team must plant a bomb at the explosive site. Every

player only has one life. By successfully defusing the bomb,

successfully placing the bomb, or being the last team standing, you

can win the game. “No it's fine no worries… I'm ready to destroy all

these bitchesssss.” You stretch a little, crack your knuckles, and look

across at the other gamertags in the lobby not being able to make

out any of the names. To ensure that the squad can all join the party

together, Jocey says, "Okay, I'll provide you the discord connection."

While navigating to Discord to join the link and join the channel you

spotted, you nod your head despite the fact that she couldn't see

you. Jocey had entered with four other people already. Shortly after

the introductions, everyone turned their attention to the game.

Naturally, it wasn't a competition, but we didn't want to look bad in

front of our audience. The game shortly started and you were doing

decent as you were averaging at least 2-3 kills before dying. One

game suddenly became six which wasn't surprising as you can never

believe a gamer when they claim to be playing just one. You always

eliminate the player with the gamertag "Neigh" that was on the

opposite team in each game that was played. “ I just know this Neigh

person is pissed off.” The seventh and last game loads. With both

your team and the opposing squad each having three victories, the

game was now deadlocked. Jocey laughs and says, "Since this is the

last game, when we die we should leave the main chat so the ones

who are alive can concentrate." "Alright bet bet bet bet.” You

respond, the other guys in our party agreeing. As soon as the game

began, bodies began to fall from both teams; on your team, you and

Jocey were the only survivors. “Jocey if you die I will strangle you

myself.” You gripped the mouse firmly, feeling as though your heart

may jump out of your chest. How challenging can a 2v2 be? You

and Jocey have done this a lot of times. Before you can cheer, Jocey

dies. The Kill feed shows Jocey getting a kill, which made you joyful.

You bite your bottom lip when the game tells you that you are the last

one left alive, "Well chat, it's just you and me now, and let me tell you. Eu acredito que eu poderia cagar um tijolo agora ... Eu odeio ser o último vivo!" (I believe I could possibly shit a brick right now... I hate being the last one alive!)

As you searched the map for the last person, all you could hear was

silence. The game informs you that a bomb has been planted, and

you have 30 seconds to locate and neutralize it. One of the bomb

sites suddenly begins to glow. The only words that came out of your

mouth as you moved cautiously toward the explosives were "Fuck

fuck fuck fuck fuck." You watch the opponent stoop down and start

hardscoping the bomb location as you draw nearer, which makes you

grin evilly. They are unaware that you are directly behind them.

You make the decision to try Neymar Jr.'s execution move instead of

shooting them since he is the operator you are playing. When you are

close enough, you press the keyboard to start the execution by

catching the enemy. Neymar Jr. execution consisted of kicking the

opponent in the back of the leg, causing the opponent to fall to his

knees and then elevating his leg, kicking him hard in the face. As it

happens, you chuckle, and once he was dead, you hurried over to

defuse the explosives. You glance over at the chat room while using

the keyboard to disarm the explosives. “Quem quer que tenha sido a

última pessoa precisa excluir seu jogo.” (whoever that last person

was needs to delete their game)” As you read some of the messages,

you smile. When the game ended and your team was the victor, you

realized it was the "Neigh" individual you had slain yet again. “Sim, o

cavalo precisa ficar em um lugar de cavalos. Devo enviar-lhe

cenouras por correio?” (Yeah, the horse needs to stay in a horse's

place. Should I mail him carrots?) Even if you thought the joke was

humorous, you must admit that it was really corny. As you become

perplexed upon seeing your view account soar to over 200k viewers,

your laughter quickly comes to an end. “What the...?” You instantly

thought Jocey viewers were just raiding you (raiding= many viewers

join their livestream for a short amount of time), “Oh, ei Jocey, os

telespectadores gostaram disso? Apenas saiba que foi uma

embreagem rara e é mais do que provável que eu não possa fazer

isso novamente haha” (Oh hey Jocey viewers, did you like that?

Just know that it was a rare clutch and I will more than likely not be

able to do that again haha) Little did you know that the person you

kept killing with the operator skin was the man himself, and he was

now observing you from the other side of the screen. Your stream

was open on his monitor allowing his viewers to see you, which

resulted in them searching you up themselves.

Neymar found it infuriating to keep dying by the same individual,

especially since it was his own operator. He had a small tantrum

every time he died, cursing towards his monitor and letting out

stressful sighs. Once the game was over he read his chat

noticing that someone had mentioned the identity of the Twitch

account that kept killing him, Smilingxo. “Smilingxo, eh? Vamos ver

quem eles são.” (Smilingxo, eh? Lets see who they are.) He instantly

neste jogo." Another sigh was released, " Isso me estressa.”(Can you

guys believe this! I constantly died by her… I am so bad at this

game. It stresses me out.) He takes one more look at you before

closing your channel. “Alright guys I'm gonna end it here and get

some rest.” He says to the chat, not bothering to join in the discord

channel that everyone was talking into-instead he just sent his

friend, the host, a text message. He yawns as he waves at the

camera, saying ‘Goodnight’ while ending the stream and beginning

to shut everything down. The sight of you continued to linger in his

mind. You were not only attractive to him, but seeing how good you

were at the game definitely made you get extra brownie points. With

him only seeing you for a few minutes, he couldn’t help but feel a bit

curious about you. Grabbing his phone once more, he looks back at

your twitch account to see if he could take another look at you.

Meanwhile, since the viewers have been here, not all of them have

been polite; the majority of them were offended when you referred to

the username "Neigh" as a horse. You didn't believe them when they

said that Neymar Jr. was the user. Really, what are the chances that

you two are playing together? “Mesmo que fosse Neymar, não tenho

culpa que seu nome de usuário me fizesse pensar que ele era um

cavalo.” (Even if it was Neymar it's not my fault his username made

me think he was a horse) you respond sarcastically while rolling your

eyes at the others comments. “There is no reason for y'all to be

acting this way over a practice match.” You mumble as you watch the

screen say you were disconnected from the match. When Jocey

returns to the channel you were in, you hear a tone through your

headphones. "Hey Y/N I believe everyone is leaving; do you want to

continue playing? Or are you also finished?"

“I think I'm done. Your viewers are starting to annoy me with this raid.

Why am I getting attacked because I kept killing the horse?”

“My viewers? What do you mean…. I am not raiding you?” She replies

back confused. “Nevermind. Yeah I'm gonna get off, I'll text you

tomorrow. Goodnight Jocey!” You wave your hand at the camera to

also say bye to the viewers, “ Sweet Dreams to the Smiling family

and to everyone that was being rude I hope you guys get

nightmares.” The broadcast was subsequently cut off, and your

computer was turned off. You sigh, realizing that you really shouldn't

have wasted your time arguing with the random chat users, but you

did so because you found it amusing that they were unhappy for the

wrong reasons. You shut down your computer and then get ready for

bed by taking a shower. When you are all set for bed, your lovely bed

beckons you, and you breathe a sigh of relaxation. You hear a "ding"

from your phone as you settle in and cuddle up under the blankets.

You sigh and sit up to grab it because you believe Jocey messaged

you. When a notification appears on your lockscreen, your eyes

widen and you cover your mouth with your free hand as you

immediately start to totally regret everything you said on video.

I’m gonna make a little happy “rant” here about Lloyd from Ninjago and just the cartoon in general.

I’ve always liked Lloyd. Ever since I was a kid, he was the one who I favorited over the others. Sure, Kai is awesome, Cole is super inspiring, Nya is an absolute baddie, Jay is funny, Zane is real cool, Pixal is an amazing robot girlfriend and samurai, Skylor is such a cool and strong female character to look up to, and etc. (Dareth, Nelson, Sensei Wu, Garmadon, Morro, Cyrus Borg…)

And yeah, a lot of people “like Lloyd” because he’s the “Green Ninja” or he’s “super cool”, but for me… that’s not it (I mean, a bit of it is, hehe. But not all of it). And as I become older in my teenage years, I’ve honestly been thinking about it a lot. I’ve been thinking about why I like this Lego character so much, and why this is the only “children’s” show I actually fan over where I can watch the show over and over throughout the years, write fanfics for hours on it, and spend my money on the sets and merch…

***Now I should probably say before I start, I’m not some crazy obsessive fan lmao. I just really like this character and show, and I want to shine some light on Lloyd (differently than he already receives, of course lol).***

Lloyd has been through a lot, yet he still came out as stable as he is (at least as much as the cartoon shows to the audience). One thing about Ninjago I like is how they make the characters realistic. I didn’t particularly realize this until I got older and I re-watched it, but all Ninja have a unique story before, during, or after they became Ninja. Though one thing that differs Lloyd from the rest is how young he was when he clearly knew his situation with his father, mother, “Ninja-acknowledgement”, family, etc. And I know what a lot of people are going to say, “But what about Kai and Nya? Cole? Possibly Skylor?” And I know, I agree. Unfortunately, all the ninja had to grow up with something traumatic in their childhood (the only one who didn’t was Jay; though later he had to find out he was adopted, which stinks finding out the way he did. I’m just glad Ed & Edna were as amazing as they were <3). The one thing that all the rest of the ninja have besides Lloyd within these situations, is they all still had *someone*. Kai had Nya, Nya had Kai. Cole still had his father, even under the circumstances. Skylor still had her father and etc with the rest. Lloyd had *no one* as a kid, and it makes me want to give his little baby-self in seasons 1-2 a massive hug.

I remember when I watched seasons 1-7 (especially 1-2) as a middle schooler, I thought little and early-teen Lloyd was so annoying (still do). But now, years later, it makes me really sad to think about his story. He’s the only ninja who had received *no* love from his parents or anyone around him until he met the ninja, and even then he later had to learn what *that* meant and how to have self-love… which he still has trouble doing a lot of the time throughout all the seasons. It makes me want to give him an even bigger hug!

And one thing about Lloyd I truly admire, is even through all of this crap, he *still* cares about his mother and forgives her so easily! The way his mother abandoned him as a child I completely disagree with, and how she just left him saying she was doing it for “him” (even though it *really* was for herself), and yet he STILL treats her kindly and respectfully, which is amazing of him. Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t forgive, it’s just how he accepted it like a champ is something that is completely admirable. Especially with how young he really was…. You have to remember Lloyd was only around 10-ish years old around seasons 1-2, yet he was able to accept his mother with opened arms. And sure, he probably was only doing this because he was attention-starved (explains why he wanted to become like his father as a kid), emotionally-starved, and starved for love, yet still as he got older and probably realized this more and more about his mother and their relationship, he still has *always* treated her with respect and kindness. And sure, people within this fandom get mad at how bitty Lloyd acted, yet we also have to remember how he was raised, which really wasn’t being “raised” at all.

Then we go into Garmadon and Lloyd’s relationship, which is a whole other can of worms. Yet unlike Misako, Lloyd’s mother, as a fan I 100% respect Garmadon as a parental figure than I ever will for her. Sure, he’s the biggest and baddest villain throughout the series. And sure, he too abandoned his son; yet unlike Lloyd’s mother, Garmadon made *up* for that time lost, and personally, I give him my upmost respect for that. He gave his son what he was lacking in receiving from his parents, and actually *cared* enough to do that for Lloyd. He showed his son what if felt like to actually be loved by your parent (in his own ways of course), he gave his son attention, and he showed what it was like to have an emotional connection with your child. GARMADON ACTUALLY SOMEWHAT HAD A REASON TO ACT THE WAY HE DID, HE WAS BITTEN BY A SNAKE THAT MESSED HIM UP FOR LIFE, YET UNLIKE MISAKO HE *STILL* TREATED LLOYD MORE AMAZING THAN SHE EVER COULD. Yet instead, throughout the 5 most healthy seasons of Garmadon and Lloyd’s relationship, especially seasons (3-5), SHE DIDN’T EVEN PUT IN THE EFFORT TO MAKE THIS A FAMILY RELATIONSHIP! Instead, she was hanging with Wu, Lloyd’s uncle. And I know for a fact we *all* know something’s going on there, which as a kid I even noticed, and I absolutely hated even then!!! Misako would pop in like everything was fine and dandy every-so-often, and yet Lloyd STILL treated her amazingly!!! That’s why Lloyd is my favorite! No matter what anyone does to him, says to him, or how he is treated, he still cares for them! He still wants them to have a happy ending, and he hasn’t even had his yet. It makes me really happy that he had the opportunity to meet the ninja, because without them as the loving family they are, I don’t think he would *at all* be the same kind-hearted character he is. The real loving people in his life are the team, and even though this is all fake and just a “silly” cartoon as some would call it, I’m GLAD he was given such a loving atmosphere.

Then we go into Seasons 8-16. Lloyd grew up, finally caught up mentally to his body (which I found terrible that he had to go thru that, yet he STILL acted like a champ when there were no expectations to!!!) and this is where I like his character even more. Still, even through all the darkness and pain he had to go through growing up (it gets worse as he gets closer to adult-hood), he still acts amazing! His father now isn’t his real father anymore, his mother is completely gone into oblivion (gone like she always has been, pfft), and he falls in love with someone who manipulates him because she herself is broken! (And yes, I probably should say now that I do ship Llorumi. Some of you may think I’m crazy, which I am lol, but I also have my reasons for supporting it, and I will most likely (someday) make a post like this explaining why I do, but right now we’re focusing on Lloyd. ;)) Yet Lloyd *still* forgives, accepts, and loves!!! After years of thinking about and watching this show, I’ve finally narrowed it down to those three attributes within him that I’ve seen consistently throughout the series. I believe we should all look up to Lloyd for this! Just being able to forgive and love the same people who had hurt and abused him, is truly a wonderful thing a person can achieve!

Plus, Lloyd is also funny, entertaining, and would be an amazing person if he were to be real. Sure, he has his own stuff he stores deep inside of himself, and he probably jokes as much as he does because he’s trying to make everything look okay, but ya know what? That is some amazing writing right there! Being able to make a LEGO “CHILDREN’S” show entertaining for kids to watch, but it also is able to make the older audiences feel recognized and noticed in attributes and personalities within some Lego Ninja? That’s some crazy awesome writing! It truly shows how if the right minds are put together, a show for “kids” can turn out to be fun and *emotional* for us older audiences to watch because we see these characters within ourselves.

So there it is, my rant as to why I do really love Lloyd as a character and not just some “Lego Ninja.” There’s some others, I mean his personality in-show and mine irl match up pretty well, so there’s that lol. I also like how he sits and listens to your problems and gives advice. He honestly is ✨the man✨ But there’s also multiple other things I didn’t even get around to mentioning in here that I like about his character too! There’s so much to unpack it feels within these characters. It’s almost as if this show *isn’t* for kids anymore, and it’s growing along with the viewers, yet still pertains to the “children” mindset.

Anyways, I’ve already spent two hours of my life writing this, so I’ll stop haha. But if you made it this far, feel free to comment and tell me your thoughts. I’d love to know. :)

So in like novel writing circles (the ones I jerk in at least) the advice is to just cut the "boring" stuff as much as possible if you can't make it ya know not the boring bit- even if you just fill it with fun character interactions or something- BUT obviously webcomics are a different medium and one known for its ability to go on very long times and (at its best at least) use that sorta allowance to explore a lot of a world etc etc, so after seeing your posts about people maybe not liking the AGS "boring bits" (note: I've never particularly felt AGS had them if only on the basis of like filling it with fun character stuff etc) what you think about that in terms of structure and pacing and such in webcomics

its a relief to hear that people arent bored stiff by a comic that started out as a "monster of the week" type and has drastically changed into slice of life with criminal conspiracy or whatever it is now. it has a point, i swear. it took me some time to see it forming in the ingredients i laid out but i see it clearly now

the slow drip-line nature of webcomics is what makes the medium truly uniquely exhilarating and also uniquely frustrating lol. most webcomics update a single page at a time, right? and you have to keep in mind while making your longform story-driven webcomic that you're juggling entertaining two different readers: the archival reader and the per-update reader. these readers are, by the nature of the medium, going to have wildly different experiences with the text. what is quick and breezy for the archival reader can be prolonged torture for the per-update one. the per-update reader might have been waiting to finally pay off for literal years, building a type of tension that the archival reader will never be able to experience themselves.

a comic a week is a breakneck speed for people doing all the lifting themselves, but only ("only") equals out to 52 pages a year. i do 2 a week so for me its approx 104 and its been 10 irl years to get to this point in the story. i also make my money "per page" because i think i should only be paid for work i actually do. so each individual page has a literal dollar amount attached to it that hovers over my head like the axe i mentioned earlier. it is extremely hard to try to make every page "worth" what people pay for it, knowing how precious money is when times are tough. and also just, you know, because people going out of their way to click on my page should see something worth seeing.

i spend more time with these pages than anyone so i get sick of looking at and thinking about them long before anyone else even sees them. one problem ive noticed is that i will come up with what i think is a funny joke and by the time the page is done, its not funny anymore and i struggle to imagine other people laughing at it. then i think "i dont want to read this, why would anyone want to read this. this sucks."

recently i had to re-read my own old pages, something i dread having to do, and was dismayed by how it read in the archival sense. in my attempt to make every page "worth reading/making" every page ended with a punchline and developed a monotonous rhythm i've been trying and failing to get out of. iambic pentameter ass comic.

So as y’all know I did the 3 days or less challenge along with my ROE technique. Well the 3 days are over and here are my results <3 (I’m feeling pink today)

Little back story: We were always partners in Spanish class because of our seating chart. He was literally the finest boy I seen in a long time whew😮‍💨. Chocolate skin, tall, he wasn’t the best in basketball but his sexc lips made up for that. We had each others number incase we wanted to exchange work but never texted on some friends shit until Friday. He randomly just hmu saying “yo” & tried to act like he didn’t know who number he was hitting but nahhh boy you know what you doing lolllll. We ended up just joking and reminiscing about school moments & I told him I’m taking culinary class again next year and he said he want me to cook for him 🌚 it never gave personal chef but I damn sure said I would lmfao

He actually gave us each one free (pretty privilege maybe 😗) but it was 100000/10 so we bought 4 more each lmfaooo.

I was wondering, in regards to this:

And omg, I totally feel you on being a trans person in the HP fandom. It's very weird how my tumblr dash is set up. I have mutuals still from old fandoms who are queer, and I feel so ostracized from them at times when they toe the line of 'anybody in the HP fandom supports JKR, you're a bad person if you're still engaging with it'. I'll spare you the essay on why I disagree with that, but oddly the safest place I feel on the internet as a trans person is in the HP fandom. Which is weird at face value, I suppose, given what JKR is doing, but we really are separate from her. I've yet to see substantial evidence that fandom, which is infamous for generating zero revenue, is floating trans peoples' demise. It's just a thought crime, I guess.

I feel the same sort of ostracization which is especially frustrating when I am in such "thought crimes are fake!" circles, and I'm interested in your perspective, if you want to give it!

Sure, I’ll offer my perspective on it! This is probably best broken down into bullet points:

1. JKR was already a billionaire before she came out as a TERF.

There is nothing in the world that will change this status. Even if every single person currently engaging with her various IPs immediately dropped them, JKR would still have a billion plus dollars to drop on anti-trans movements and whatever. A billion dollars is immensely difficult to picture. The easiest way is to think like this: if you make $50,000 a year, the equivalent of her dropping $75,000 the other day is you spending $3.75. How often do you spend 0.0075% of your income and give it any thought? JKR’s wealth is not directly tied to ‘levels of fandom engagement’.

Which leads to…

2. Boycotts don’t work.

Sorry. They don’t. Not against someone this politically powerful. If they did, the flood of people out of the HP fandom in 2020 would have had a measurable effect. What did have a measurable effect? People not going to watch the Fantastic Beast movies (because they were hot trash lmao). Not giving JKR any more money works in the sense that it cripples her future projects, but it has zero effect on what’s already in her purse.

Also, think of boycotts this way: wasn’t it hilarious watching conservatives try to boycott the Barbie movie, Nike, Bud Light, and whatever else they’ve systematically locked on to? But so then why do progressives/the left/whoever think it’s going to work the other way? Like with Hogwarts Legacy? Just don’t interact with the media, dude. And if you do, pirate it.

3. Fandom is not mainstream. I have never seen any data to substantiate that participating in a fandom directly correlates to dollars for the IP. Copyright literally prevents that from happening. To bring up to popular saying, “there is no ethical consumption under capitalism”, fandom exists outside of capitalism—for me, at least, as a fan fiction writer. This is a hobby to me. I have never seen a red cent for any of the hours of work I’ve put into my fics.

And I can probably guarantee that no one has stumbled upon Harry Potter through me, lol. They didn’t read one of my fics and go, ‘you know, I should check out what source material this is coming from’. Harry Potter is so well-known that there’s no way they came in blind.

Also, the TERF discourse is very much an online thing. I work retail irl and I’ve had conversations with customers who’ll say “you know, I really don’t get all this hubbub against trans people” but are too boomer to be anything more than tangentially aware that Harry Potter is a Thing. Like, ‘oh yeah, my kids read those books when they were coming out, but I never bothered’. One of my employees bought a set of the HP books because they were on a wicked deal at Costco, and when we were discussing it I told her that while I still enjoyed HP, I wasn’t comfortable giving JKR more money because she’s extremely transphobic and donates a lot of money to anti-trans causes. My employee was horrified and said that had she known that, she wouldn’t have bought the books. Lots of people just don’t know!

Which takes me to…

4. This type of online activism isn’t effective.

I’m talking specifically about being anti-Harry Potter or anti-JKR. Falling into those two categories does not automatically make you pro-trans. This was pretty blatantly obvious back when the books were being burned for promoting witchcraft. As far as fighting for trans peoples’ rights, screaming until you’re blue in the face about how anybody who engages with Harry Potter is a traitor and JKR BAD is wasting time better spent doing something productive - something that could actually benefit trans people rather than…I don’t know…virtue signalling that their blog or twitter account is a safe space?

5. I personally do not feel welcomed or vouched for by these people.

Listen, I’m going to break myself down into all my stupid little categories. I’m trans. Autistic. Intersex. Aromantic. Asexual. Basically, all the things that people love to try and cast out of the queer community, whether that means they’re trying to split LGBTQIA+ at the T or Q.

The anti-Harry Potter stuff, as far as attacking the fandom, feels like the latest strain of purity politics to me. As I’ve laid out above, abandoning HP will not right the wrongs of JKR in any measurable or tangible way. Boycotts don’t work. Fandom does not feed JKR’s coffers, and destroying the fandom will not cripple her. There are trans people inside the HP fandom, and what of us? Are we traitors? Are we not ‘really’ trans, because obviously we don’t care about the current political climate? Are we just confused and need to be enlightened as to what harm we’re doing? Where have I heard this rhetoric before?

One small thing, tangentially related:

6. I don’t care what JKR says about how engaging with Harry Potter tells her about who her ‘supporters’ are.

Seriously? She’s a lying dirtbag, and I’m just supposed to take her word on this? This is the one thing she just so happens to be right about?

When she started spouting TERF shit, I was really saddened by the writers who, upon leaving the fandom, also deleted their works in protest. Seeing as the majority of the HP fandom is queer, I’m sure that JKR was very pleased with the amount of queer media erasure that occurred. Why did we do that for her?

7. I believe JKR actually seethes and malds over the prospect of her fandom being queer and producing queer content.

As a writer, there’s a special kind of pain that comes from someone not quite interpreting your work the way you would have wanted them to. What do you think JKR’s first reaction was when she first learned about the Harry/Draco ship? The Draco/Hermione ship? If she didn’t live in a stone castle, I bet she would’ve punched a hole in the wall.

So, yeah. Transing and gaying all of her characters is a pretty nice way to get to her in a way that she can’t legally or financially retaliate. Every time she screams ‘WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?!’ at the queer people in her fandom, a trans person’s crops are watered.

8. The HP setting is very welcoming to trans people.

Potions exist that can change your body. Enough said.

That the Harry Potter books never really says anything specifically about trans people (NOTE: obviously JKR’s prejudices even back then showed through, but this isn’t about that) leaves the question on the table. Obviously trans people exist in the Harry Potter setting, because they exist everywhere. So, how did they never get any page time?

Well, who says they didn’t? In a setting where potions exist to change your body, trans people are just…people. I don’t even think that they would have a marginalized identity because gender dysphoria would be something very easily treated. Think of it like someone who takes medication for blood pressure. They need the medication, it’s life-saving, and while there isn’t a magical pill to ‘cure’ high blood pressure, it can be managed. The magical world revels in being strange. Why would being trans, while being considered strange here in the ‘Muggle’ world, be anything other than normal there? Why can’t it be?

And then there are Metamorphmagi. People who can literally change themselves at will! If that isn’t a trans person’s dream, I don’t know what is. I would personally love the option of being the biggest, hairiest dude with a dick so big an erection would make me black out, and then ultra femme and delicate the next.

Last on this point, Harry never notes anyone specifically trans in the text (NOTE: touching on things like the physical descriptions of Rita Skeeter and Marge Dursley, JKR tends to do the ugly=bad person thing. Although she describes Rita and Marge as mannish in appearance, they aren’t trans characters. They’re women that JKR wants to frame as bad people. If someone comes into the Harry Potter fandom unaware of JKR’s politics - maybe they were gifted the books for their birthday or happened to catch the movies on TV - it’s good actually that this person doesn’t fall right into an echo chamber of JKR’s politics. I’ll be happily here to correct her record in a way that isn’t shaming or policing them.

Anyway, I think that’s everything lol. To summarize:

- The HP Fandom is a neutral setting. Engaging with it doesn’t help JKR, and not engaging with it doesn’t help trans people. Just don’t spend money on official HP merch.

- If you want to be a pro-trans activist or trans political ally, please just ignore JKR and put all your focus on the real world.

- There are trans people in the HP fandom who are left feeling awkward and uncomfortable due to virtue signalling.

- Generating queer HP content is good, actually.

Summary: Y/N overhears a comment Natalie makes about their relationship. Later, Y/N witnesses a scene that makes her a little uncomfortable.

A/N: Again, I want to emphasize that this is not a Natalie/Man*tead friendly fic so read at your own risk! I set sometime during Season 2 during the time Natalie is dating Clarke. I’ve been wanting to write something like this for ages but I didn’t have the courage to so… I rewatched early Med and got back in my feels lol. Also an anon requested something similar while my requests were closed. Thank you bestie @sheetsonfire for beta-ing <3

WILL HALSTEAD MASTERLIST

“Is the offer for drinks still on the table?”

That’s how it had all begun. You remembered it, as if it was just yesterday.

It wasn’t as if you’d never seen the way Will looked at Natalie but you’d figured you had nothing to lose by asking him out for drinks. And you knew that when he’d come back to see if the offer was still standing, it probably had something to do with the fact that Natalie and Clarke were spending a lot more time together.

But there was also something different, like he was much more determined.

Will had surprised you with how forthcoming he seemed when you went for drinks, and somehow very naturally, a few more drinks over a couple of months later, the two of you were here, a couple that had just made a very important decision about 24 hours ago.

“Y/N?”

You glanced sideways at Will Halstead, a smile spreading across your face. Your Will Halstead.

“You gonna get off and go to work?” Will teased, before he paused. “You’re okay, right?”

You smiled and nodded. “Just thinking.”

“About what?” Will asked gently, one of his hands reaching to the back of your head gently.

You shrugged. “About the first time we went for drinks.”

Will gave a small confused frown, even though the smile lingered on his face, as he waited for you to explain.

You just smiled. “Just marveling at how we got here.” You answered, glancing at him. “I’ll see you back at the... our apartment tonight.”

The smile on his face widened as you answered his unspoken question.

Moving in together seemed like both a great and horrible idea at the same time, especially considering that it felt like something that needed a lot more consideration. But other than the fact that you’d both be saving a lot of money, it was also something that you felt was important in order to understand each other as a couple, which was what you had also communicated clearly to Will the night before.

Your last relationship had been a car wreck. You’d been ready to marry him, or so you thought. Until you’d moved in together and everything fell apart piece by piece. In hindsight, you knew that the problems had always existed, that you’d been ignoring them until they couldn’t be ignored. But that didn’t change the fact that you’d wasted 6 years of each others’ time.

So you’d decided that if and when you entered into a new relationship, this was something you should try out early on. You’d expected Will to turn you down so you were pleasantly surprised when Will was game for it. And here you were now.

You turned to leave but Will’s hand closed around your wrist, tugging you back towards him. “Forgetting something?”

You let out a chuckle as Will gave you a kiss. “See you later.” He whispered, his eyes lingering on you as you quietly alighted, slipping into the crowd of hospital staff that were coming in for their shift as well.

It wasn’t any surprise that the news of you and Will moving in together moved quickly, not that you were trying to keep it a secret.

In fact, you thought everyone was handling the news pretty well. Will had already been in a good mood but now, bolstered by everyone's well wishes, he had offered to buy drinks at Molly’s that night and asked both your friends to stop by if they could.

You felt pretty good about how everything was panning out, until you went down to the ED later that day.

You weren’t on your ED rotation this week so you weren’t expected to be down in the ED but you’d been paged about one of your frequent flyer so you’d gone down to take a look. You’d just stopped by one of the computers to key in what you needed to, bending to pick something off the ground when you heard it.

“Moving in together for convenience? A little weird, don’t you think?” Natalie’s voice was low but you were close enough to hear every word.

You exhaled quietly, your hand closing around the pen you’d just picked off the floor.

“I’m just looking out for Will.” Natalie’s voice continued, probably responding to a silent expression Maggie had given her. “He’s my friend and she…”

Just as you were wondering if you could slip away without being noticed, Connor blew your cover. “Y/N, you okay?”

You couldn’t even be mad at Connor.

“Yeah, pen took a nosedive.” You said in a quiet voice, getting to your feet.

At least Natalie looked sheepish, you noted, unable to stop yourself from glancing at her before you left the ED.

Connor fell into step next to you, both of you heading towards the elevator and you glanced at him as the both of you stepped in. “What?” You asked, feeling his eyes on you.

Connor raised an eyebrow. “You okay?”

You nodded, not sure how much Connor had heard or picked up on. “Nothing I haven’t dealt with before.” You said, shrugging.

“You coming to Molly’s later?” You asked as the doors opened on your floor.

Connor smiled. “For you and Will? Absolutely.”

You waved, as the doors closed and you headed further into the ward, ready to put whatever you’d heard out of your mind.

“Hey, you okay? You seem a little…” Will paused. “Distracted.”

Will called back for your attention and you glanced back at him, giving him a smile before you shook your head.

“Just a weird day.” You answered him, your eyes drifting over to where Natalie was sitting with Clarke just a table away.

Thankfully, Jay arrived to interrupt both of you and you were grateful that the night was spent in laughter with the Halstead brothers. This was definitely much better than a party. Will paid for almost everyone’s drinks and people stopped by yours and Will’s table to chat but other than that you weren’t really the center of attention.

Natalie cast a few glances at you but you didn’t say anything. You hadn’t even said anything to Will, and she’d probably figured it as well, as she gave you a polite smile.

You just nodded back at her before you turned your attention back to what Jay was saying.

Things were going so well, you found it a little hard to believe yourself.

You’d mentally psyched yourself for something, well, anything to knock you and Will off balance. But it hadn’t, not really. Sure, it felt a little strange at first but every morning when you woke up next to Will, it reinforced your belief that everything would be okay.

You’d gotten all the way up to the ward when you realized that you were still holding Will’s phone.

Shaking your head at yourself, you took the elevator right back down, heading towards the ED where you’d left Will.

You took a quick glance around the ED, realizing he must still be in the doctor’s lounge and headed straight there, pushing open the door almost naturally.

Will’s back was to you as he spoke in a quiet voice to Natalie, Natalie’s hand on his arm.

You hadn’t felt anything in particular until Will turned and his expression changed. You felt your heart twist but your expression didn’t, and you raised his phone. “You left your phone with me.”

You gave him a forced smile and turned to leave, feeling the air grow heavier with awkwardness.

“Y/N. Wait.”

Will took a few more steps, catching up to you easily just as you stepped out of the lounge. He grabbed your arm gently and turned you back around to face him.

“Y/N, listen.”

“Will.” You warned, reminding him you guys were not alone. “We’ll talk later, alright? I’m late.”

You paused, hesitating before you reached forward, pushing yourself onto your toes to give him a quick kiss, leaving without saying anything more.

You couldn’t shake the look on Will’s face - a look that was almost guilty. It was that look that haunted you for the rest of the day so you were grateful for a busy day full of surgeries, consultations, rounds, anything you could get your hands on. It wasn’t so much that work kept your mind occupied, more that it cleared it.

So by the time your shift was over, you were ready.

You met Will by the doors as usual, throwing him a small smile, even though the atmosphere seemed a little more awkward but you didn’t say anything until you got in the car, throwing him a casual “let’s order in” before Will nodded and drove the both of you back to the new apartment you now shared.

There was silence for a bit as you took off your jacket and Will glanced at you.

“Y/N, please say something.” Will said in a quiet voice.

You glanced up, before you frowned. “What?”

“Say something. Anything. Scream at me, do something, don’t… don’t shut me out.” Will’s voice shook a little at the end and you looked him directly in the eye.

“I’m not mad, Will. I’m not pissed.” You said, your voice even now. “I’ve thought it through.”

Will angled his head to the side a little, the way he did when he was confused.

“Look, I get it. It’s Natalie.” You said, unable to stop the tinge of sadness from lacing your words as you spoke, watching his expression change. “Just promise me one thing, Will.”

Will didn’t say anything.

“Just promise me that you’ll tell me when it’s over. Don’t make me guess, don’t leave me hanging.” You said, the words slipping out so fast you felt like you didn’t have control over what you were saying and you caught yourself wishing you’d had this conversation before you moved in.

“What are you talking about, Y/N?”

“Just promise me, Will. I’m fine with everything else, just…”

Will stepped forward, reaching for your hand and closing it around yours. “Nothing is over. I’m not… I don’t want to be with anyone but you.”

You remained silent so Will continued. “Natalie and me, that’s… it’s in the past. Nothing ever happened and nothing will happen.” Will paused before he continued. “She was checking in on me. To make sure everything was going well, and I told her that it was. It was going perfectly and I have never been happier, so…”

“I trust you, Will.” You said, smiling now. “I do, one hundred percent. I’m not mad, I just… it just got me thinking, you know? About losing you, about everything.”

“You’re not going to lose me.” Will said, his voice low now as he pulled an arm to your back and pulled you against him.

You gave him a look and Will sighed. “Fine, I promise.”

You nodded but Will shook his head to tell you he wasn’t done. “But what you're worried about is not going to happen. You're not going to lose me.”

You just smiled, as Will’s fingers closed gently around your hand. “I’m sorry if I was weird today.”

Will shook his head. “Thank you for trusting me.”

“I would trust you with my life, Will Halstead.” You whispered.

Will cupped the side of your face, his thumb resting on the side of your face, the rest of his hand resting along your neck before he pressed his lips gently against yours.

“I love you.” Will whispered.

You looked up at him, blinking. Knowing he’d caught you by surprise, Will grinned before he easily lifted you up into his arms, laughing as you squealed in surprise but quickly pressing his lips over yours.

“I love you too.” You answered, as you hooked your legs around his waist before he continued the kiss, this time the kiss going deeper before he headed straight for the bedroom the both of you shared, your lips still pressed together.

Your arrival was right at the time of the Rite of Descension when Rex Lapis aka himself faked his death and chose to use a mortal body and chose to start working at the wangsheng funeral parlor, preparing a farewell for The Rex Lapis. He received a call to go to Liuli Pavilion, that's where he met you in Traveler form when Childe introduced himself to you.

Zhongli is a very thorough man. He immediately noticed Traveler's strangeness when they met at Liuli Pavilion. Traveler is not from Teyvat. But you… you're nowhere to be seen. But Zhongli can feel your presence.

The tone of your voice when you are happy to see him appear at certain events, the tone of your voice when you laugh at his behavior again when he forgets to bring his money again, the tone of your voice when you scold him for not being careful when spending money on shopping. Zhongli really wants to see you in person. But for now, he should be satisfied just listening to your voice when Traveler is around him.

He realizes that your world and his world are separated between screens and programs. He reflected on himself. He felt a little worried. If you are bored, will you really leave them? leaving Teyvat? leaving… himself? But he immediately breathed a sigh of relief after more than 2 weeks when he felt your presence, you faced the screen again. He will be happy to be by your side even if it's just for a character hang out event.

There are many rumors circulating around Liyue, when blessings will be given to vision holders, the falling stars are blessings given to those who are lucky in all parts of the Teyvat area.

And Childe was one of the lucky ones at that time. Childe happily praised how lucky he was to have such a blessing. Zhongli just smiled and congratulated Childe while drinking his osmanthus wine. But deep inside, he felt strange. Could it be that Archons with non-vision holders will not receive the blessings they deserve?

Sometimes, he hears how disappointed you are and gives up on the banner. He sometimes hopes he can break the game system, convince you he will be by your side for the third chance but he can't hope for more if you don't trust him anymore.

Zhongli put those thoughts aside. He just wants to be able to always be by your side when adventuring throughout Teyvat apart from his activities as a wangsheng funeral parlor consultant. He couldn't help but envy Childe how lucky he was to have such a blessing. I mean… who doesn't want to get this lucky blessing?

Zhongli's heart felt a little sad after knowing that you didn't want him to come a third time after failing. He would probably blame himself, if only he could break the percentage system rules for you.

He knows very well that your world is much more real than his current world, full of codes and programming that the people of Teyvat believe are the creation of one of the gods.

He can only imagine how charming your face looks from behind that screen. Or maybe he could just find a way to get away from your screen and touch your cheek just once. Hoping that one day, you will appear beside him with your signature laugh to accompany his days. As a god, the former god is very pity to expect love and affection from mortals in return.

That night, when Zhongli was out of work and walking around the port of Liyue, and looking up at the night sky, he wished that the golden stars were for him after your lucky blessing fell on him once again.
