laughing when one drops their phone on their face? Will Halstead
Will laid on his back, elbow tucked onto his chest as he scrolled through the stupid videos his brother had sent them. You were laying on your side, head latched to his bare and warm shoulder as he laughed softly, tilting the phone so you could see the screen better.
“I swear, Jay finds the stupidest shit.” He muttered as you watched the short video on his screen, laughing along as it played.
“Yeah no shit,” You scrunched your nose up as it looped over. “Why doesn’t he send me funny videos?” You jokingly frowned, nudging Will’s arm.
In doing so, Will’s phone slipped out of his hand, hitting him right on the lip. With a quick laugh you leaned up, “I am- I am so sorry,” you couldn’t even say it without laughing, the man covering his smile with his hand, checking to make sure he was in fact not bleeding.
He rolled onto his side, pulling you underneath him and tickling his way up your stomach, “No! No no no!” You tried to move into the fetal position, aka the only way you knew to get your stomach covered but Will rolled with you.
“No, this is karma,” He said through his own laughs, his hands reaching the one spot on your sides that made you jolt up.
“William Halstead I swear to god-“
He raised his eyebrows at you, fighting wrapping his arms around your torso, his chin resting on your chest, “Yes?” His eyes were wide and he was giving you the most obvious puppy eyes.
With a sigh you looked back at him, “Get off of me, I didn’t mean to knock your phone out of your hand-“ You couldn’t help but crack a smile at the flash of the face he made when it hit him replaying in your mind.
“Are you laughing at my misery?”
“No…”
“YOU ARE!” He leaned forward, pressing a kiss to your chest before blowing out a raspberry and flipping onto his back, dramatically crossing his arms. “I’m officially offended by all of this and noooot talking the rest of the night.
He not so inconspicuously glanced over at you, fully still wanting your attention. Which you gave him as you rolled on top of him, looking down at him. “I don’t mind not talking if you’ll still hold me,” You offered, innocently smiling widely at him.
Of course he couldn’t say no to that so he sighed softly, opening his arms, “C’mere.” Will spoke softly, wrapping his arms tightly around you when you laid against his chest, his phone lighting up with another text from Jay.
“You should watch it.”
“Maybe when you’re not in the bed to make it hit me.”

When it came to being in control, Will knew exactly where and when it was his turn to take the lead. For example, the hospital, he was your boss after all which meant you had to do whatever he told you and listen to his orders, but when it came to the bedroom? Well, let’s just say that Will knew his place the second he crossed over that threshold.
Will’s back hit the mattress with a soft thud, a deep groan rattling up his chest as he felt the weight of your body as you climbed on top of him, clad his favourite slinky negligee which you could tell was his favourite given how hard he was as he twitched beneath you, feeling the wetness of your arousal coating his skin. He wasn’t used to being the submissive one when it came to sex but there was just something about the way you took control that made him want to roll over and give himself up to you completely.
“I didn’t like the way you ordered me around today.” You said seductively, grabbing his discarded belt from beside him and slowly trailing it across his chest, the coldness of the buckle sending a fierce shiver down his spine.
“Well I am your boss.” Will replied smugly with a grin on his face that you quickly wiped away when you ground yourself against him, spreading more of your wetness along his thick length that lay nestled between your legs, not inside you yet though which you knew was driving him crazy. “Fuck…”
“Keep talking and you’ll only make things worse for yourself.” You whispered into his ear as you leaned forward, trailing your tongue across his skin before tugging hard at his earlobe, eliciting a soft moan from Will as you paired it timely with another painstaking grind of your hips against him.
You pulled back from him, laughing quietly to yourself at the mere state you could put him in. The way he was so twitchy beneath you, his cock practically throbbing against your pussy and you could feel how he kept trying to push his hips up further, desperate to finally feel himself inside you after the day you’d spent teasing him.
He knew the second you cornered him in the stairwell and purposely pushed yourself against him was to make him hard, and it had worked too as he had to take a minute to cool off in the bathroom before he went back to work. And now, because of that, he was in such desperate need to feel you that he almost gave in and started begging, the one thing he knew you wanted from him but he also knew you weren’t going to make things easy for him after he’d ordered you to stand down in treating a patient, and therefore he wasn’t about to give him so easily either.
You grabbed his wrists, bringing his hands above his head where you bound them together with his belt, pulling it extra tight that it had his hips jerk upwards, his hardened cock brushing against your soaking entrance in a way that almost had you roll over for him to completely devour you instead, but you managed to control yourself. After all, this was your payback for today and you’d be damned if you let him have it so quickly.
“Is that too tight?” You asked quickly, not wanting to hurt him accidentally. He shook his head, pulling his hands apart just a little to show you he still had room to move them before you nodded in satisfaction, placing a rough kiss against his lips before you pulled back, rolling your hips once again before your hands slowly started to work their way up your thighs.
You could see the way Will’s eyes darkened, the muscles of his arms straining against the leather that bound his wrists as he watched your hands trail up your own body, gripping the edge material that covered your chest before you yanked it down, freeing your breasts which had Will swear under his breath.
He watched intensely as you began to play with your nipples, his cock throbbing fiercely beneath you as he tried desperately hard to feel you against him. You knew he loved touching you, loved feeling your hot skin beneath his large hands and you knew he loved your breasts most of all, loved feeling the soft mounds under his palms and those hardened buds between his fingers, which is why you could easily tell just how much not being able to touch you was driving him crazy.
“You’re such a fucking tease… I hate you.” Will said breathlessly, the smirk that rose on your face as you continued to caress your breasts almost making him want to break free of his belt and flip you over, but he happened to like this belt and he knew if he did, you’d only make things worse for him next time.
“Well if you hate me so much, I guess I better just get myself off instead as you couldn’t possibly want to do it for me.” You teased, pulling the negligee over your head so you were now fully naked, your hand going immediately to your throbbing clit before the material had even hit the floor.
“I know you mean that as a threat, but fuck baby… The thought of seeing you get yourself off on top of me makes me so fucking hard.” Will groaned, watching the hint of darkness to your own lust filled eyes as you drew gentle circles on your clit, making you moan softly as your knuckles brushed along his cock with each motion.
“As fun as it would be to have you watch me…” You exhaled, arching your back a little as you continued to pleasure yourself before you suddenly stopped, your now wet fingertips walking up his chest and over his chin, pushing open his mouth as they hooked behind his teeth. “I think I’d much rather have you do it for me.”
At that second, as Will was far too preoccupied with tasting you off your fingertips to notice anything else, you grabbed hold of his cock, settling the tip between your folds before you slowly began to sink down onto it, making him bite down on your fingers as low, breathy gasps left his lips as he filled you up completely.
The way you felt around him, the mere tightness of your pussy had him bust free of the belt that bound him, the leather strap hitting the floor with a thud as his hands came to grip your hips, fingers digging deep into your flesh and you lifted your hips, setting a slow pace as you slid back down until he was once again buried deep inside you.
“Couldn’t wait to get your hands on me could you?” You said around a moan as you began to pick up the pace, feeling the warmth of your own arousal as it spread across your inner thighs.
Will didn’t say anything, he literally couldn’t as the moment you started moving faster, his hands slinking around your back to hold your ass as they guided your motions, he became a moaning mess beneath you, unable to do anything but watch you. The way your breasts bounced with each movement had him biting down on his lip, his hips starting to thrust upwards, meeting your pace as you gripped the headboard, riding him in a way that made him want to boss you around at work more often if this was his punishment.
“Fuck… Will… Fuck, I’m gonna come.” You panted, his fingers pushing harder into the flesh of your ass as you felt that pressure deep inside you building, ready to burst with each thrust of his cock against your sweet spot.
“Come for me baby.” Will groaned, angling his hips just right that with one last, well-synced thrust of his cock meeting the grind of your hips, his tip hit hard against that spot deep inside you, causing you to clench tightly around him, as you came hard, your legs tensing around his hips.
“Fuck…” You threw your head back, your body stilling as Will’s hold on you was the only thing keeping you moving as he fucked your through your orgasm, one that was so intense, so pleasure driven that you could see stars and feel the pure heat that coursed through your veins.
The way his name left your lips, so breathy and so sweet sounding pushed him over his own edge, his eyes glued to you, beads of sweat beginning to roll down the valley of your breasts as they rose rapidly with each breath you took. The moment your head tilted forward again and your eyes met Will’s he knew he was done for.
He slammed your ass down hard against him, his warmth releasing inside you as your name left his lips in a deep, raspy groan, your hands landing atop his chests as you began to move your hips again, feeling him throbbing inside you as you milked every last drop from within him. You fell forwards, your bodies sticking together with sweat as you kissed him, his body still twitching beneath you as he came down from his mind blowing orgasm.
You pulled back, staring deep into his eyes as Will’s hand pushed back the hair that stuck to your forehead, threading his fingers through it before pulling you in for another quick kiss, neither of you having much air left in your lungs for anything longer.
“If that’s the punishment I get for ordering you around at work…” Will said breathlessly, a small smile creeping its way up into his face. “…then baby, you can bet that I’ll be doing it a hell of a lot more because that… was fucking incredible.”

This is my first ask so I hope I did this right. I was wondering if you could do a Will Halstead x reader where the reader is new to the ed and then caught Will staring and he was embarrassed or something. I’m really sorry about this ask I know it’s super bad. Thank you
You Cheeky Flirt
Tumblr media
Entering the Ed building I was so nervous about getting thrown today since it was my first official day working here. Sitting my bag down underneath my desk I was a new nurse who came from Indiana being a simple country girl trying to make it in the big city. "Hey I haven't seen you around here before." A male voice spoke to me where I was met with soft eyes and auburn hair.
"Ah well I'm new here. So that’s why you ain't see me around here...Dr. Halstead." I shifted my gaze over his name tag.
He sat down the medical chart he had in his hands leaning on the countertop in front of him. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Will, what’s your name Nurse L/n?"
"Y/n, Y/n L/n." I extend my hand and we shook hands where he never moved his gaze from mine.
Will lowered his gaze from mine where I began to feel uneasy. He normally never had any problems talking to girls. But in this moment he was a blurting mess like he was back in high school. So he did the best thing he could think of. "Do you like burgers?"
"I guess so. Why do you ask?" I was curious to see where he went with this.
Will moved his gaze back up to mine. "Would you want to get one with me sometime?"
"Will...Actually that sounds great." I blushed, taken back by his offer to date. Will seemed releaved through by my answer and I can say that we ended up going on a few more dates and became official after the 5th one.
Comments really appreciated ❤️
- I am sorry that this is so short. I wish I could have wrote more for Will

“Just wanted to say goodnight.”
You smiled at Will’s words. “We haven’t even had dinner.” You responded.
“But if we get busy tonight I might not be able to call before you sleep.” Will reasoned. “This is my last night shift before the baby comes, so let’s just hang in there a while more okay?”
You nodded, even though he couldn’t see you, unable to stop the smile because he was being cute. “Yeah alright. Be careful and I’ll see you in the morning. Jay will be here soon.”
“Love you.” Will said, before you heard Maggie call his name in the background and he hurriedly hung up.
You put your phone down on the kitchen table before you heard a noise at the front door and frowned. Jay usually rang the doorbell even though he had a key so you felt your wariness rise a little as you stepped out towards the main area where the doorknob was already jiggling.
Not Jay.
Tumblr media
Jay climbed out from his truck, reaching into the back for the food he’d promised you and turning towards Will’s house.
He had a half-formed thought in his mind that was thrown out when he realized the curtains were closed.
Jay frowned. You didn’t usually close the curtains until you were going to bed, and definitely not when you were expecting him at any time.
His frown deepened but he headed towards the main door, pausing when he realized the door wasn’t even closed, much less locked, merely resting on the frame. That you most definitely didn't do, not even when he and Will were around.
Jay put the bag he had down next to the main door, reaching for the gun holstered on his waist and nudging the main door open with his foot.
The house seemed quiet, which was even more suspicious so Jay didn’t lower the gun. Until he turned into the dining area and saw you had smashed yourself into a corner.
“Y/N, are you…”
“Jay, behind you!” You yelled. Jay spun back around, turning his back to you once again and almost immediately you heard shots rip through the air. You closed your eyes, your body jumping involuntarily which each shot that resonated through the house that you and Will shared.
Then, silence.
You cracked your eyes open but from where you were standing, shriveled into a corner of your own house, you could only see that both the intruder and Jay were no longer standing.
“Jay?” You tried calling out to him.
There was a silence for a beat and then Jay pushed himself up, closing the gap between himself and the intruder, swiping the gun further away from him. Just in case.
You paused, before you took a shaky step forward.
Jay glanced up at you as you neared him. That's when you saw it - the blood seeping between his fingers as he tried to apply pressure down on the wound on his shoulder. He’d been hit too.
“Y/N, look at me.”
You wrenched your eyes away from the dead man in your house and looked back at your brother-in-law.
“Get me the phone.”
You nodded, glad you and Will kept it within reach and handed it to Jay, your hands still shaking slightly as you felt a weird sensation, something similar to a slight pop, before a trickle of liquid down your legs.
“This is Detective Halstead from Intelligence, Badge number 51163. Responded to a robbery, offender is down but I need a patrol car and a bus…” Jay trailed off as he looked at your face, before he noticed what was happening.
You looked back at him as you felt a clear contraction. “Jay. My water…”
“Two buses. Stat. One gunshot wound, and my sister’s water just broke.”
Tumblr media
Will glanced up from where he was standing when the alarms blared and he moved straight to the front like clockwork.
“Jay?”
Jay glanced up at his brother giving him a strained smile. “I’ll be fine. Y/N is right behind me. Go.” His voice was a whisper now and Connor patted Will on the back.
“I got this.” Connor reassured him and Will cast one more look at his younger brother worriedly before he hurried off under Maggie’s directions to get to you.
“We have to deliver now.” The OB doctor on call told Will the moment he opened the door.
“Will… Jay…”
Will shook his head, scooting over to put your hand in his. “It’s okay, he's going to be fine. One thing at a time, alright?”
You groaned as another contraction hit and the OB attending settled herself in front of you.
“Alright, Y/N. Take a deep breath… and push.”
Will stayed with you throughout and the only thing you felt was keeping you grounded was the thought of your son coming, as well as the feeling of Will holding your hand.
And when the doctor finally put your son in your arms and you laid your eyes on him, you couldn’t help the happy tears that slipped down your cheeks.
Will quietly swiped away a tear and pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “Thank you, Y/N.”
You just smiled as Will bent down to press his forehead against yours and you angled your head up so your lips could meet.
Tumblr media
Connor had come by to see you and the baby, as well as to assure both of you that Jay was fine. You'd filled Will in about what had happened and after some wheedling, Will had given in and agreed to wheel you both to go see Jay if you promised to stay in the wheelchair.
Jay was already kind of sitting up in bed when Will opened the door and wheeled you in.
“Oh my god, please tell me you’re here to bust me out.” Jay groaned and you hid a laugh.
Will shook his head. “Connor had to bring you into surgery to get the bullet out. And our place is still half a crime scene so all three of you are stuck here for a bit.”
“But both of you are okay?” Jay asked, groaning a little as he shifted and glanced at you.
You smiled. “Thank you, Jay. If you hadn’t come, I… we…”
Jay gave you another smile before he reached out, his hand barely reaching your arm, as he patted it. “Told you, you’re family.”
His eyes now flicked down to the small bundle that was asleep in your arms.
You looked at Will, who nodded. “We wanted you to meet your nephew and your godson.”
Jay’s eyes flicked up to his older brother. “Wait, what?”
Will cocked his head at his younger brother. “The anesthesia should have worn off by now, Jay. You won’t say no to him right?”
Jay smiled. “Of course not.”
Will lifted your son from your arms and put him down in Jay’s good arm. “Meet AJ. Alexander Jay Halstead.”
Jay glanced between you and Will.
“Seriously?”
“Jay.” You said, leaning just a little forward, enough that you were still comfortable and not off the wheelchair like you'd promised Will. “We’re here because of you. AJ’s only safe because of his Uncle Jay. Like you said, family right?”
Will smiled back at his younger brother. “Just promise me the both of you won’t be wheeled into the ED together again. I can’t do that again.”
You smiled and glanced at Jay, as Will reached for your hand.
“I’ll do my best.” Jay answered with a smile, his eyes drifting back to little AJ still comfortably asleep in his Uncle Jay’s arms.

Her father's daughter
Warnings: Kidnapping, crying, canon-typical injuries, blood
Summary: When all is well, someone just has to barge in and ruin Will and Faith's lives.
A/N: Soo, I am back more than a month later. I didn't mean to disappear for so long... It will happen again i am sorry. This Ramadan has come with more work and I have exams in two weeks that i refuse to fail. I will most likely return at the end of april/beginning of May.
i've been thinking about writing this for a while because of how much I love Faith but I didn't want to hurt her but then I thought, no one can turn down some good old angst. Sorry again for being mia for nearly another month but randomly wrote this all in one sitting after doing some psychology and having an existential crisis soooo. This is going to be a little longer than usual, happy reading!!
Tumblr media
Will was at work when it happened.
He was getting ready to assist Connor in a surgery when he got a call as they were scrubbing in.
The part-time nanny he hired was now basically considered family over the two years she'd been looking after Faith whenever she wasn't in school and Will was at work. So to have her calling him at work was odd but when he answered her call and was immediately met with tears and gasping and hyperventilating, Will felt his heart stop.
Will wasted no time. simply telling her he was on his way before hanging up.
Connor, without hesitation, encouraged Will to leave, saying he'd find Goodwin and tell her himself.
As soon as Will was in his car, the first person he called was a no brainer.
Whenever Will called, Jay would always come running, day or night for his older brother and niece, consequences be damned.
Will found himself struggling when Jay answered, grappling for words he couldn't muster.
"What's wrong Will?"
"Faith's gone Jay... Someone's taken her."
*****
The brothers met up at Faith's school, Will arriving before Jay.
The second Will got there, Allison, the nanny, found him instantly. She ran up to him in tears, hysterically crying as if it was her own child that was taken.
"Will I'm so sorry." She gasped, on the edge of a panic attack, eyes impossibly red as she hyperventilated, tears showing no sign of stopping any time soon.
"They- Reception said a woman picked her up in Maggie's name three hours ago-" She cut herself off with a sob. Poor women was a mess, seeing her so distraught made Will want to cry along with her.
"Allison, please listen." Will said sternly, holding her shoulder so she would pay attention to him. "None of this is your fault, okay? If it wasn't for you, it would've been another two hours before someone found out."
She exhaled shakily, nodding fervently when Will pressed her to stop apologising and accept she was at no fault, there was no reason for her to take any blame.
Before either could say anything more, the sound of sirens scared them, making both of them jump at the sudden loud sound.
At the sight of familiar cars, Will wasn't too sure if he felt relief or impending doom.
"Intelligence Will need to take a statement but after that you can go home." Will told Allison, squeezing her bicep with a timid smile for reassurance.
"As soon as they find Faith, you'll be the first to know, I promise."
*****
Jay was struggling to concentrate on the CCTV footage him and Adam were meant to be watching.
He could say with 100 percent confidence the he never thought he'd find himself in such a situation.
intelligence have been involved with numerous kidnappings. So many in fact that it was usually what they would be expecting to be called in for every day.
But, this was his niece's kidnapping. This wasn't the norm for him let alone the rest of them. A five year olds kidnapping was something they'd never want to deal with, especially someone who was family.
"Here it is." Adam said, clicking the mouse a few more times before settling on a frame, the scene being the reception of Faith's school.
Shaking any deprecating thoughts away, Jay pushed his chair forward, looking closely and minimising his blinks as to not miss a single second of valuable footage. Footage that would show the final moments of Faith being alive and safe.
The halls were empty for the most of it, bar the occasional janitor or teacher walking by. Two minutes passed when a woman in a black trench coat walked up to the desk. Her brown hair obscuring her face from the camera's view along with the thick scarf wrapped around her neck.
She spoke to the receptionist, signing a sheet of paper before a lady walked away, soon returning with a small familiar bundle.
Faith was in her little purple puffer jacket, bobble hat covering her ears and mitten on her little hands. She wore little winter boots, her my little pony backpack sat nicely on her shoulders and Will's old scarf held in her hands. Unconsciously, Jay thought about how she always complained about the itchiness of the scarf that Will would always wrap around her masterfully, his method luring out the most wonderful sound to mankind; Faith's laughter.
Faith looked perfect, just like her fathers carbon copy and even from the shitty camera footage, Jay could see the pep in her step and the twinkle that never extinguished from her eyes.
Jay's thoughts trailed back to earlier this morning when he was still fast asleep in bed but his brother had messaged him, sending him a picture of Faith in all her adorableness. Nothing had changed from that picture and it warmed his heart slightly.
Usually, whoever picked her up was met with the biggest hello, the widest smile and incessant talking and she retold the adventures of her day but this time, Faith's steps faltered at the sight of the stranger.
Jay struggled to watch the rest.
*****
All Will could hear was his baby girls cries echoing in his ears.
He'd heard her cry plentiful, he raised her since birth for goodness sakes but this cry was different. It was like he could hear just how scared she was and it felt like a literal stab in the heart.
Will forced Allison home twenty minutes ago after Hailey took her statement and was told everything. She was still very torn and upset, she refused to leave Will for several reasons but before she started blaming herself again, Will forced her to leave, promising once again to call her later.
Jay had shown Will the footage of the woman who never showed her face, maybe there was some chance Will could recognise the back of her. Somehow, she knew the exact school Faith went to as well as knowing the list of very few people that were allowed to pick her up. The list consisted of Will obviously, Jay, Allison and Maggie.
Somehow, whoever this person was, they knew who was on the emergency contact list, information that only the school and said people were privy to.
That small bit of information made Will want to be sick.
They had tried other means to try identify the woman but they were coming up with nothing. Another hour had passed, now being give hours since Faith had been taken and Will was slowly losing the plot.
"I've contacted a bunch on my CI's." Jay said, face set in stone as he finished presenting. "Still waiting to hear back."
"I have several CI's in that area." Antonio added, Kevin nodding to also confirm. "Waiting for a call any time now."
Voight hummed, giving no indication of what he was thinking or feeling. But not too long ago, he had taken Will aside and promised they would bring Faith back to him, no matter the cost.
No matter the cost. Ethically, Will wasn't too sure what to feel but emotionally, he felt relieved.
Will must've zoned out for a bit because the next thing he knew, only him, Jay and Antonio remained in the bullpen. Everyone else seemingly disappeared.
Wow, he really needed to fix up.
"Hey, how are you-"
Just as Jay opened his mouth, he was cut off by a phone ringing.
*****
Jay wasn't allowed to accompany Antonio to his CI, instead taking Kevin with him. The Latino was never once persuaded by Jay, even when he promised to stay in the car.
The sun was now starting to set and there was a clear shift in the atmosphere as the sky grew darker. To ease broth his own and his brothers fears, Jay sat with Will, sitting together in a silence neither could stand.
This was an uncommon occurrence since Will had returned from New York, the two brothers being alone together. Since coming back, it had always been the three of them. So to be in this moment, both Halstead's would rather die than to have to repeat this again.
"You want a coffee?" Jay asked, eyeing up the half empty coffee pot. At the rate this investigation was going, they'd be needing more than just coffee to help them stay up.
"Sure." Will hadn't meant for his answers to be monosyllabic, Jay had done nothing but right now, he had not much left in him to continue being so forth coming.
The silence enveloping their space, Will usually relished in any moments of silence he could get but this was just uncomfortable. Never did he ever want his little girl to be causing such a ruckus.
"Maggie called me back." Will said, watching Jays' back, following his actions as he made both their coffee's. "She doesn't recognise the woman nor has she told anyone outside the ED's staff about Faith - that's all people I know and none of them know that woman."
Jay hummed as he stirred the tiniest bit of sugar when his tasted a little too bitter for his liking. "That's good but it does mean we have even less of an idea as to who this is."
Will didn't reply, only mumbling a small thanks as he took the mug from Jay's outstretched hand and sipping the lukewarm drink.
"Have you butted heads with anyone at work recently?" Jay asked, knowing his brothers stubbornness very well.
"No." Will rolled his eyes. "I've been under Goodwin's strong scrutiny after the last stunt. Go ask anyone, I've been good."
And for a second, nothing felt as heavy but such a feeling didn't last.
"Antonio and Kevin are back." Trudy suddenly appeared in the doorway of the breakroom causing both of them to flinch. "Go see them downstairs."
*****
"My CI works in a restaurant. When I reached out, his story matched up with ours." Antonio started, standing tall besides the computer screen where Kevin was trying to connect it to the USB they were given.
"At the same time Will called us, a different woman came and ordered a takeaway with a kid he said looks a lot like Faith."
Will felt his heart rate picking up the more Antonio spoke. Hearing all of this felt like a fever dream, he didn't want to get his hopes up just in case they reached another dead end.
The camera footage started to play, Kevin skipping it when nothing was happening, only to abruptly replay it when someone walked in.
All they could see was the back of the woman, her black hair in a braid, scarf wrapped around her neck with a long jacket on. As Will's eyes studied the stranger, he followed her outstretched arm to-
Faith
Will's breath hitched at the sight of his little girl who hadn't seen since the early hours of the morning when he dropped her off to school. He held his breath, watching closely to see if a single hair was misplaced on her body or to try and see what she was feeling from either her scrunched up eyebrows or her quivering lips.
But he couldn't see anything.
The woman went to the counter, ordered her food and stood there for however long it took for the food to be made. Only when she was handed a carrier bag with several containers did she finally turn around and show her face.
Will's face paled in recognition instantly.
"What's wrong Will?" Jay noticed his change immediately, his question causing everyone in the room to turn and look at him. "Do you recognise her?"
Will swallowed harshly, blinking repeatedly to bring himself out of shock.
"Yeah, it's Faith's mum."
*****
With this newfound information, it didn't take Intelligence long to track her down.
Stephanie Brooks, 'Steph' was what she insisted everyone call her. For just over a year, she was Will's girlfriend and as of five years ago, she was Faiths absent mother.
Ever since that night five years ago, Will never thought he'd see his ex again but here he was, sitting in the back of his brothers truck as he waited for Intelligence to get his daughter back.
Once they had her name, they found the car she had under her name in Chicago and the place she was renting out as of three months ago. Three months of which she had been watching them under a microscope.
Will actually had to go be sick in the toilet when Kim turned around with all of Stephanie's activities since she arrived in Chicago, all of which suspiciously looked very familiar and aligned with everything he and Faith did recently.
That aside, all Will had to do now was wait.
Jay and Kevin stood in front, Kevin ready to kick the door down before Jay could go in first. All they were waiting for was for Voight's signal.
"Now!"
Within seconds, they were all entering the bungalow, guns out and pointed in any direction, covering all corners as they searched for Stephanie.
"Clear!"
"Clear!"
They all went separate directions, covering every room in search of any life and soon enough, they found their culprit.
She screamed.
"Stephanie Brooks, your under arrest..." Adam went on, reciting the words they all had memorised for years now, his gun lowered slightly as Antonio went forward to handcuff her.
"What, no! You're crazy!" She shouted, struggling against Antonio's grip. Despite the cheap bungalow she rented, she was dressed as if ready for a night out. Her hair was curled, makeup perfect, heels and a tight fitted dress on.
"Kidnapping?" She scoffed, continuing to struggle as she was forced onto her feet. "She's my child, my daughter!"
"You can't take her from me." She told them, getting more riled up when she saw Adam rolling his eyes at her. "I want my lawyer, you have no right to take my daughter from me."
On the other side of the bungalow, Jay heard nothing but thundering in his ears as he frantically looked up and down for his niece. Nearly every room had been covered and they hadn't found her yet-
Jay felt his heart break the second Faith was in his sight.
He found her stuffed in the bathtub shivering. He had to kick down the door, finding her with zip ties around her wrists and ankles, sat in the bathtub with on her knickers and vest on.
Faith started crying.
Without another thought, Jay dropped his gun and rushed forward, kneeling at the edge of the bathtub before picking her up and dropping her into his lap.
"Oh Faith." Jay sighed, wrapping his arms around her as she curled into him. "It's okay, your safe, Jay Jay's got you now."
As sobs racked her little body, Jay took out his knife and carefully cut the zip ties off. As soon as the were chucked to the side, she wrapped her arms as far as they could around his torso.
Standing up, Jay took strides out the bathroom and made his way outside. Hailey found him on the way, taking her scarf off with Kim not too far behind taking her jacket off.
Both garments swaddled Faith, protecting her bare limbs from the torturous snow but she continued to shiver.
Jay felt himself breathing easier with her in his arms but Will was firmly on his mind.
Only a metre away from the premises did Jay find Will who was already bounding towards them.
"Faith, look." Jay gently poked her, watching her carefully pick her head up and turn in the direction Jay was pointing.
The cry she let out, it would forever haunt him.
"Faith."
Jay handed her over to his older brother who's arms encased her small body. Will dipped his face in her hair, inhaling the comforting smell that he never wanted to forget.
"Oh baby. It's okay, it's okay." Will repeated as she sobbed, showing no signs of stopping any time soon. "Daddy's got you."
Will pressed several kisses wherever he could: in her hair, her forehead, her ear poking out from her curls, her cheek anywhere. His arms tightened in their embrace and if it wasn't for Jay who was supporting him, he would fallen into the snow as soon as he lost all feeling in his legs.
Will could barely hear his own thoughts over Faith's gut wrenching cries. Somehow, her tears weren't running dry. To see her in such a state but to have her back and safe with him, Will finally let his emotions get the better of him.
He sniffled, hiding his face in her wild curls he always struggled to tame, his tears dropping like rain but his cries were muffled. Screwing his eyes shut, he tried to even out his breathing, Jay's hand on his back comfortingly rubbing circles kept him somewhat sane.
"We're driving to Med." Jay told him, directing the father-daughter duo towards his truck.
Sitting in the back, the outside world no longer existed, his entire universe was sat in his lap. Will had lost track of time, she had been continuously crying but Faith was silent now as she was knocked out, crying herself to sleep, that's how tired she was. All he could hear was the occasional soft snore, but he could feel everything from her rising chest against his own, her curls that needed to be brushed, her skin that was slowly warming up from both his own body heat and the garments wrapped around her and the tears that were drying on his shirt.
Will felt like he could finally start to relax.
*****
Faith remained in Will's arms at Med, even when he woke her up, neither of them made any move of letting go.
As soon as they got to the hospital, Will was surrounded by all his colleagues, all riddled with stress that was slowly disappearing when they saw Faith.
Currently, Natalie was doing the standard tests, letting Will do all the convincing which wasn't a lot. As soon as he asked, Faith complied.
"I'll go grab some heating blankets." Natalie said, stepping back as she finished off. "I'll make sure to put a rush on these."
"Thanks Nat." Will said, letting Faith curl back into his embrace.
"It's no problem." She smiled, her eyes looking down at the little girl, the sight of father and daughter making her think of Owen. "We're all just glad she's safe and mostly unharmed."
Will tried not to think of the scrapes and clotting up scabs that littered her body. He hadn't seen any of them till they got to Med, his chest restricting to know she had been hurt and he wasn't there to relieve her of the pain.
"Thank Ethan for me." Will added when Natalie was about to leave. "Faith loves the my little pony band aids."
And with that, they were left alone for the first time surrounded by the muffled sounds of the bustling department and the occasional beeps of machinery and the faint drips of the iv.
Despite being a doctor for years, Will found it difficult to see the iv needle in Faith. To have two worlds collide, Will would never wish this upon any parent.
Small pokes to his collarbone caught his attention, Faith poking it ever so gently as she stared up at him imploringly with the widest eyes that still glistened, their colour identical to the woman who was going behind bars.
"Missed you." She whispered, voice breaking towards the end. It was the first time she had spoken since she found her and the two words made his eyes water.
"I missed you too. Missed you so much baby." Will replied, tucking her hair behind her ears so he could see her whole face. "I'm so sorry baby. Daddy loves you so much."
A smile appeared on her cherry lips, her dimples not too far behind. Seeing them made it feel like nothing was wrong with the world and only the two of them mattered.
"Home?" She asked, her voice filled with so much innocence and hope that Will has to give himself some time before replying.
"Not yet, I'm sorry bubbles." He apologised, rubbing circles into her back. "Jay Jay still needs to come back and Maggie needs to bring you some medicine. She might even ask you to sleepover."
For once, Will was glad she was so eager to stay at his workplace. She had such wonderment surrounding his job, the thought of sleeping over at his work was almost a dream come true.
To finally see her mood pick up, her eyes glistening now with newfound happiness at the prospect of a sleepover, unaware of the connotations it had, Will allowed himself to feel good.
For now, all that mattered was that his daughter was rightfully back with her father and surrounded by family that would do anything for her.

You sat at bar swirling what was left of your whiskey, after a long day at home and an even longer day at work you were ready for the weekend. Praying that no disasters caused a last minute call in to work. Currently, you'd had enough of the world and the dried tear tracks showed that, Timothy, your fiancé had just broken up with you well, ex-fiancé, and now, you didn't have it in yourself to go home. Too many raw emotions and memories. And there was no point in crying over a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream tonight, besides if you found someone else whose bed you could get into, even better.
"Hey can I have 2 of what the woman beside me's drinking" You raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything to the red head as he took the bar stool beside you. Frowning a bit when you had another whiskey neat passed towards you. "Thanks" "you looked like you needed it." he replied easily shrugging his shoulders. "Jez, a ‘no problem’ or ‘you're welcome’ would've been fine" rolling your eyes, you finished off the last of your whiskey before moving on to the one the stranger beside you had so kindly bought you.
"Is everything okay? You look like you're going through something." the redhead asked you. You snorted a little, "Who are you, my therapist?" The man chuckled, "Close enough, I'm a doctor." You nodded at that, half expecting the answer to be some form of healthcare professional. "Y/n L/n" you turned and smiled at him. He done the same. "Will Halstead." "It's nice to meet you doctor Halstead" you purred quietly to him, you could see a tinge of red rising to Will's face, It clashed horribly with his hair but at the same time you thought it looked quite cute. Drinking the last of your whiskey, you saw Will's drink go largely untouched. "You not a fan?" Will gave you a tight smile, "No I'm more of a spirits guy myself do you want it?" He relied easily. Without another word you picked up the drink and drank half of the glass.
"Did you just order what I ordered to try to pick me up." Raising an eyebrow with an amused smirk playing on your lips. "Is it working? Because if it is, that's a yes." You felt a hand slide from your middle spine to your lower spine, sitting on the curve, sending a shiver through your body. "Maybe..." Your left hand reached for his thigh. You felt the strong muscles flex beneath your touch. Making you want to shiver but you refused the urge. You could feel the effect of the past three or four shots on your stomach, you knew your head was clouded but at the same time you couldn’t bring yourself to care much. “What do you want to drink?” Will gave you a curious look, “just a vodka and coke.” You nodded and finished the shot of whiskey and asked the bartender for a shot of vodka and a vodka and coke. You were slightly glad for Will’s hand on the small of your back. You knew that you probably would’ve fell off the stool by now otherwise, and you didn’t feel particularly like ending up in the E.R for a cracked open skull.
"You're wondering what's got me drinking so heavily? My fiancé dumped me." You said, shrugging your shoulders, your eyes drifted away from his sorrowful soft expression, you didn't want people to feel sorry for you. Things like this happened to people all the time, it wasn't worth crying over Timothy anymore. "Im sorry to hear that, you must be taking it quite harshly." he motioned to the drink, "Speaking of, how much have you had to drink in the last hour?” Will asked as you suddenly downed the next shot as soon as it was set in front of you. You squeezed your eyes shut at the taste “about 5 ish now" you shrugged, not really caring. He gave you an 'are you serious look, making you giggle. "Come on, I'll take you home" Will handed his card over to the bartender, telling him to close both of your tabs out before helping you stand up.
As soon as you were on both of your feet the world started spinning around you, you could barely put a foot in front of the other without stumbling. At least Will was there to save you from making a fool of yourself by falling flat on your face, for that you were glad. The dizziness got a little better the longer you stood and you could at least walk without stumbling now in a somewhat decent straight line.
"Ugh it's raining, just amazing." you complained, Will smiled down softly at you, "Come on, It's not that bad right?" Looking up at him you had to pull your gaze away as you felt your cheeks get flushed. "Here, take my coat." The red head said as he placed the coat over your shoulders, the heat from it made you shudder and bury the remainder of your body into the coat which drowned you, reaching halfway down your calfs. "Thanks" you mumbled as you could feel your eyes burning, trying to kid yourself into the fact that the rain managed to get into your eyes and that they were just watering was no use, especially when you tried to hide it.
Will looked down at you as you sneakily tried to wipe your eyes, he captured your chin and tilted your head so your e/c eyes and his light brown eyes met. Using his other hand, he wiped away the remaining tears slowly rolling down your cheeks. "Just dance with me and pretend the world doesn't exist." he whispered, upon recognising the slow dance that could be heard from the jukebox within the bar. "In the rain? You'll get a chill without anything to keep you dry." you laughed lightly as more rain dripped onto your face, except this time it was from Will's hair. "Why not?" He took his hands and placed them on your waist, you moved yours to around his neck and he started to move, guiding your steps.
The traffic of the wet Chicago night really just set the right scene for this, the occasional honk of a car horn in the distance, the muffled, yet beautiful melody playing from the jukebox, even the rain played its part as you apologised yet again for stepping on Will's feet again as he just laughed at you.
As the song came to an end, he brought you to his car to give you that ride that he had offered. He even left his number on your kitchen counter for when you woke up the next morning and you couldn't help but smile at the cute post-it note that contained a phone number and a little smiley face with curly hair.

Best Day Ever
So yesterday was the Festival of the Lights downtown and of course I was working at my coffee shop job last night. So I made a bet with @fangirlfrom-hell that if we made/sold more hot chocolate than coffee than I owed her a new fanfic! And sure enough we sold/made more hot chocolate than coffee so here is me upholding my end of the deal!
So enjoy this little fic about the Halstead Brothers going to the Festival of the Lights as kids!
“Mama, mama, guess what!” exclaimed Will while jumping up and down in front of his mother.
His mother, who was cooking dinner, turned to look at her eldest, “What’s up Will?”
“Today in school today I learned about the lights festival!” the third grader excitedly explained.
“You did?” she asked while turning the stove down to a simmer and walking her child to the table.
“Uh huh” confirmed Will while taking a seat at the table
“And what did you learn about it?”
“Um, well it started in 1949 and wanna know something cool?”
“What!”
“It’s not even a festival! It’s a parade!”
“Wow, that’s so cool,” enthusiastically replied his mom!
“Can we go watch it?” asked Will while sliding off his chair.
“I don’t see why not, but I’ll talk to your dad. Okay?” Mary Halstead would love to take her kids to see the lights festival, but she was nervous about driving into the city, seeing as since it was such a big event, there would be traffic. But she also knew that public transit going north would also be insane. So she just hoped her husband could join so she wasn’t looking after 2 little ones by herself.
“Okay!” exclaimed Will!
“Now, while I finish dinner, why don’t you go see if Jay is awake from his nap”
Will screamed, “Jay!” and ran in the direction of his little brother's room.
The day of the festival had arrived and as fate would have it, Pat Halstead was working his second job and wouldn’t be home in time to go to the parade. So Mary made the executive decision and decided to pull out the double seater wagon, a few blankets, and some hand warmers. She knew with a 5yr old and a 8yr old, they were bound to get cold easily.
“Are we ready to go to the lights festival?” excitedly asked Mary while checking to make sure her sons had their hats and coats on.
“Yea!!!” exclaimed both boys!
“Let’s go then!” stated Mary while setting Jay in the wagon and then helping Will in as well.
The little family started on their journey downtown via public transit.
“Wow” gaped Jay when the family arrived at a street corner along Michigan Avenue. Mary was slightly happy she decided to come downtown around 3 instead of waiting til 5, when the parade started, cause spots were filling up fast.
“What do you see Jay Jay?” asked Mary while plopping down to his height.
She loved when kids were elementary age cause they were still gaining personalities and exploring the world with childlike wonder.
“The police” stated Jay, while pointing to a crowd of police officers across the street in yellow construction vests.
“Do you wanna be a police officer when you grow up?” asked Mary.
“Uh huh” nodded Jay.
When the parade finally started, Jay was beginning to nod off and Will was sitting up straight and tall, mesmerized by all the lights and big buses full of characters and dancers.
“Rudolph!” shouted Will while shaking Jay awake!
Jay opened his eyes just in time to see a giant inflatable rudolph pass by.
“Mama, mama, did you see?” asked Jay while turning to look at his mother.
“I did baby, I did”
When the parade ended, it was close to 7pm and Mary realized not only were her babies cold but they also were hungry.
“How about we go get some pizza and head home?”
“Pizza!” squealed the boys in confirmation!
“Okay, okay, let’s go” laughed Mary, “you guys have to sit down though” she added while she picked up the handle and pointedly watched  as her boys sat on their butts.
By the time the family had gotten home, Jay was completely passed out in the wagon, with his head on his chest. And Will was headed in that direction too.
So Mary carefully lifted each kiddo out of the wagon one at a time and laid them in their beds and hoped they had as good of a day as she had with them!

MASTERLIST
***
You slowly unlocked the door to your new apartment, balancing the duct taped cardboard box on one hand.
You took in a shaky breath, making your way through the corridor, leaving the door ajar.
You placed the box on the kitchen counter, right beside other similar containers.
Every box had little pieces of you. Little pieces of your life.
Your college years had gone by in a blink of an eye. Your friends had bid farewell and had started their own journeys to explore their lives.
So you stand alone in the middle of your new apartment, surrounded by nothing but four white walls.
You didn't quite grasp why you were here.
You had done everything by the book.
From being the president of the math club and astronomy club, to being class representative, to being valedictorian. You ticked every box in life's to do list.
You had gotten a job a year ago, content with both your colleagues and salary.
So what were you missing? Why were you crying?
The music was bursting through the speakers, the strobe lights were pulsating to the beat. Everyone was dancing,
at the party you didn't go to you.
Your best friend was singing karaoke in a nearby bar. People were drinking. People were laughing.
You had midterms to prepare for.
Your roommate had coloured her hair red. Some were trying out weed. Others pot. They were doing stupid shit. Illegal shit.
You were busy taking lecture notes.
Every month, one day was reserved for mani-pedi's, long acrylic nails with sparkles in them were accompanied by the latest gossip.
You were drafting your thesis.
That's where Jay and Will found you, head between your knees, sobbing your heart out in the middle of your new apartment.
It was instinct. Your brothers were by your side in seconds, gently rubbing your back.
Jay pulled you into him, letting you rest your head on his chest.
"I'm..I'm.... supposed to be..... happy" you whispered, a headache pulsating through you. Will slightly pulled away to look at you with a raised eyebrow.
"I have everything. I've done everything. I have a job. An apartment. I've spent every fibre of my being preparing myself to be an adult,.... but here I am, as clueless as ever. I'm not supposed to be sad" you choked, your hiccups making it harder to speak.
"Y/n, look at me" Jay said, tilting his head to meet your eyeline "You don't need a reason to be sad. You're human, and that's reason enough. If there's anything I've learned, it's that you should let yourself feel whatever you're feeling"
"Jay's right, y/n." Will assured softly, rubbing your knee. "There's no rule that you have to be happy at a certain time in your life. You can be sad. You're allowed to be sad."
"It's just that I've spent so much time--"
"No , we're not doing this--" Jay quickly, but gently, interrupted you."--we're not going to look back. Nothing good has ever happened from looking back."
"This is what you're gonna do, " Will said, wiping a few tears from your cheeks, "you're gonna take a month off from work, and stay with the two of us."
"What??? I can't do that, are you crazy!!?!? "
"Yes you can, y/n. You need it"
"It'll just be the three of us, just like when we were kids" Jay smiled "You need some time for yourself y/n. It'll give you the time to think about your future, and it'll help us get you the help you need. How does that sound?"
You looked around you. The walls were still white. Still blank. Still an ocean of emptiness. Just like your life. You worked and worked and worked to a point where you didn't know who you really were, besides numbers on a sheet or ranks on a list.
But here you are, sitting on the floor beside your brothers. If anyone could help you, it was Jay and Will, and you were sure of it.
"Yeah .......  it does sound good" you breathed, your chest feeling a little lighter, being sandwiched between your brothers.
"Then it's settled. From today onwards, it's us, Wall-E and thick crust, double cheese pizza against the world" Will smiled.

“yeah jay i’ll come over when i finish my shift tomorrow” you held your phone up to your ear, bag on the opposite shoulder as you left your apartment building.
“alright babe. be safe okay?” Jay, your boyfriend of 3 years spoke through the phone. A smile on your face as you thought of seeing him after your shift at firehouse 51.
“you too” you smiled before ending the call, shoving your phone into your back pocket as you began walking to your car. You and jay had met while serving in afghanistan yet had reconnected almost 6 years later after you started working back in chicago and got a job at firehouse 51 through your friend clark and everyone at 51 has quickly become your family.
As you approached your car you scrolled through your phone looking to message your best friend Gabriella Dawson to let her know you’re on your way to work. The two of you usually spend the start of your shift gossiping, it’s something you’ve grown to love. Especially when it comes to girl talks in a firehouse full of men. God just the memories of the boys faces—specifically cruz— when they walk in on a conversation about something they don’t want to know makes you laugh. Like the time you had cruz walk in on you talking to gabby about the horrendous side affects of your condition Endometriosis. Which you only got diagnosed with two years ago, and luckily it wasn’t completely debilitating for you as it was for a lot of women.
When you’d been diagnosed you were terrified of telling anyone, even Jay. But after hundreds of conversations with Gabby and Jay—who were both unapologetically supportive—it no longer bothered you and you’d come to the conclusion you’d rather talk about it and educate people on the subject rather than hide from it.
Shooting Gabby a quick text that read: ‘On way now. Got so much to tell you about the CPD party’
You smiled to yourself watching the three dots pop up signifying gabby was messaging you back. You and Gabby had almost no shame when it came to your conversations, so much so that you were sure you knew more about Gabby and Casey’s sex life than Casey did himself, and vice versa for Gabby and Jay. You knew Gabby had something to tell you too as she’d insinuated as such on the phone last night. And boy, did you have something to tell her too. The sex you’d had with Jay after that CPD party had been extraordinary, easily in your top 5 sexual experience—all of which had been with Jay. He was amazing, and with the strain and pain endometriosis puts on a woman’s sex life Jay had been so understanding and patient. He’d made sex something unimaginable.
‘Can’t wait. I have news too. 🫢’ Gabby replied. You smile as you reach your car pocketing your phone and pulling out your car keys. Just as you go to press the button on your keys to unlock your car what feels like a violent slam of bricks hits your head. Pain slices through your body, shaking your bones, starting from your skull and travelling all the way down to your toes. the pain is sharp, cold. So cold that black dots dance across your vision. You can’t process anything, every thought, every instinct you have fails under the pulsing pain in your skull as everything turns black.
Pain shatters the darkness enveloping you, cold air hitting the wetness coating your hair sending a shiver down your spine. Fear claws at you, digging into your flesh, pulling and tugging at your stomach acid just as the hands are. The hands? Pain and panic interlock as everything clicks. Hands. Gripping your waist dragging you across a stony path. Darkness, not the same as before, not the dark pain that had taken you hostage but the sun leaving you, leaving you vulnerable with your captor.
It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to the darkness. Yet, when they do adrenaline takes ahold of you. Forcing the old you, the soldier to take over. Power floods your veins as soon as your eyes meet the evil ones of your kidnapper.
Where’s jay? Does anyone even know you’re gone? How long have you been gone?
Questions you won’t let linger stab you. And your limbs fill with strength, adrenaline. You pull your elbow back before forcing it into your captors ribs with every ounce of strength you can, ignoring the pain, ignoring everything. You refuse to be a photo on Intelligence’s evidence board.
Your captor grunts, weakening his grip on your as he stumbles unprepared. He quickly recovers, lunging forward aiming to take you down with his fists. You don’t let him. Your lungs clench, heart pounding as if a stampede lives beneath your ribs as everything you’ve been taught everything you’ve learnt and everything that’s ever made you feel powerful rushes through your veins. Army training, Boxing, karate, kickboxing.
You dodge his attempted assault and quickly throw a balled fist toward his jaw, and it connects with enough force to break a knuckle. You move quickly, precise like you’ve got forever to calculate his next move. But you don’t. It’s the adrenaline, rushes through your veins giving you enough energy for the final push. With another firm punch he stumbles, and in the next moment you land a hard kick to his most precious area. He falls, losing his balance and stumbling with a pained groan.
Run. You barely process your next movements as your legs carry you, each step shakier than the last as you take your chance, sprinting away. Your lungs burn, your skin igniting against the harsh chicago wind. You don’t even know where you are but you keep running, running, hoping to find something familiar. Some landmark, somewhere you know, someone you know.
Your body weakens, you feel as if you’re your legs will fail at any moment as you push on. The wind brushing against your tear stained cheeks leaving a chill in its wake.
95th and Trent. The familiar street sends the final wave of adrenaline through your body. You don’t stop running, you can’t. Not until your safe. You don’t know how long you’ve been running for, how long you’ve been missing. But when you reach the familiar 21st district it almost feels as if your heart stopped. Racing up the front steps you barrel through the door. Panicked, irrational, exhausted.
Trudy Platts panicked eyes meet yours and a wave of comfort makes your eyes well up. She rushes out from behind her desk ordering a officer away, “Get Halstead. And call a damn Ambulance and 51. Tell em we’ve got her.” She bites out before rushing towards you and taking you into her arms.
As soon as the warmth that is trudy Platt touches you, your heart cracks. Almost loud enough your worried it could’ve been heard from miles away. Tears poor from your eyes and you clutch onto her uniform as the adrenaline dissipates.
“Baby” A distraught familiar voice takes you by the hands guiding you home. His arms, his smell. You’re home, you’re safe. Jay takes you in his arms, tightly. Letting all of his worry and anger seep from him in the form of your touch.
“Are you okay? Y/n, I was trying to find you. I was gonna find you baby.” He whispers as your claw at his muscular frame. “You’re safe, I’ve got you” he whispers, his voice only causing the crack in your chest to grow. A crack that only he can fix, now that you’re home.

Departure
Tumblr media
Pairing: jay halstead x reader
Summary: Jay is y/n husband and he left her for eight months to go to Bolivia. When he came back, he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his wife again
Warning: none i guess, maybe a little bit of angst
English is not my first language, sorry if there’s some mistakes!
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
When your husband came home that day asking you to sit down on the couch, you didn’t think that he was going to say what he actually said. You two worked at Intelligence for four years and you didn’t think possible for him to change the way he did. When you first met him you immediately knew that he was kind, gentle and a good cop: you knew that he would have done everything to help innocents and to stop criminals, you knew that he was a good person.
And then something changed.
You didn’t know if that was because of his partner, Hailey Upton, or because of Voight; you just knew that you didn’t recognize him anymore. You even talked about it with Adam, your partner, but you weren’t able to find a way to help him get through that.
You just wanted him to be happy again, you just wanted him to be himself again.
That’s why you let him go.
When he told you that he accepted the job in Bolivia you couldn’t believe it, you just couldn’t.
Was he running away from the unit or was he running away from you?
You didn’t know what was true, but you couldn’t just deny him to be happy again: if he needed to go, you would have let him go.
And that’s exactly what you did.
“It will be for eight months maybe a little longer, okay? I will be back home soon.” He said that day, kissing your forehead with glossy eyes. “I love you… i really do but i need to do this. Please don’t be angry with me, i’ll come back to you, i promise. You’re the love of my life, y/n.”
When he left some minutes later to take his flight, you fell on the ground, crying; you needed him near you, you needed him there with you but you just couldn’t deny him to be himself again.
That’s why you didn’t tell him the truth.
That’s why you hid it from him.
When Kim knocked at your door that night after having heard about Jay, you let her in and you just walked back to the couch, where you cried all day.
“Y/n…” she whispered, walking towards you and hugging you tightly. “It’s okay. It’s temporary, right? He will come back, okay?”
You didn’t say anything, you didn’t nod or shook your head in response, you just kept crying again and again and then, after some minutes, you spoke.
“We perfectly know that he can die there.” You said, finally telling the truth, finally admitting out loud what you had in your mind all day since he talked to you.
“Oh, y/n…” she kept hugging you and she also placed her hand on your shoulder, trying to reassure you in some way. She wanted to say something, she wanted to help you go through all of that but her eyes fell on it.
It was on the table in front of the couch, exactly where you placed it after Jay left.
“What’s that?” She asked, keeping her eyes on the small object; she reached it and she looked at the result when you didn’t complain about it, then she looked up at you, shocked. “You’re pregnant?”
You wanted to cry, you wanted to scream, you wanted be alone in your thoughts, but Kim was there trying to help you and you really appreciated that, that’s why you just nodded, answering her.
“Does Jay know about it? Did He really leave you here alone knowing that you’re pregnant?”
Kim knew the answer deep down, she knew that Jay wouldn’t have left you there knowing that you were pregnant but she needed to know it for sure; when you shook your head saying “no”, she hugged you tighter.
“Oh, darling.” She whispered, caressing your back slowly and gently. “You should’ve told him, Y/n, i’m sure he wouldn’t have left knowing that.”
You sobbed, then you looked up at her and you shook your head again.
“T-That’s why i-i d-din’t tell him. He needed t-to go Kim, i c-couldn’t stop him.”
“But he had the rights to know the truth before taking such a decision!” She replied, shaking her head in disagreement.
“When he came here telling me about the job in Bolivia he already took it, he accepted it without even talking about it with me. I would have told him if he hadn’t already accepted it. He told me that he had a flight in few hours, how could i have told him? I know, after all, that he’s lost. He’s not himself anymore and, if taking that job is going to help him, then i will accept it. He said, after all, that’s only for eight months.” You said, even if he said that there was the possibility that he needed to stay a little longer. “When he will be back home, i will still be pregnant and he will be able to be here when our baby is born.”
Kim didn’t agree with you but you was still shocked, that’s why she didn’t say anything: she just hugged you, promising you that she would have help you.
And she did, as all your unit.
Kim, Adam, Hailey, Kevin, Hank and also Trudy helped how they could.
In the next months they helped you, they came to your house to keep you company and they accompanied you to the hospital every time you needed to do a visit.
You were never alone after all, but you knew, however, that the most important person for you wasn’t there. You couldn’t blame him since you didn’t tell him the truth, but still you missed him so much.
Your baby was healthy but he, or she, wasn’t ready to be born yet, even if one week passed since the due date.
In some ways you were relieved because you really wanted Jay to be there when you would’ve become a mother. Every single time someone knocked at your door or every single time your phone rang, you panicked, afraid that something happened to your husband while he was still in Bolivia. You didn’t talked to him in the last few months, mostly because you didn’t want to distract him during a mission and because you were always afraid of blowing his cover.
That’s why you hardly talked to him or contacted him on the phone, and he did the same thing for the same reasons.
Until you didn’t hear anything about him from the army, you knew that he was okay, you knew that he was still alive. And every day you kept going on, holding on this thought, holding on the fact that no one called you, so he had to be safe, he had to be alive.
You didn’t know when he would’ve returned home, but you just hoped that it was soon; you couldn’t get through labor without him by your side.
That day you was ready to go to the hospital for another visit with your gynecologist. You asked Adam to come with you and he immediately accepted; that’s why, when you heard someone knocking at your door, you thought it was him.
“C-Coming.” You said, trying to get up from the couch where you were waiting for him. Your belly was so big that it was difficult for you to get up easily. “Just give me one minute, i’m trying to get up from the couch.”
At the other side of the door there was not at all Adam, there was Jay with his bag on the shoulder, happy to be home again, happy to be able to see his wife again. But when he heard you saying that she was having difficulties getting up from the couch, he froze, thinking that you might have been hurt at work.
Before he could say anything, the door opened in front of him and he immediately looked at his wife; he was left speechless, standing in front of the door frame, looking at his wife that was definitely pregnant.
“J-Jay?” You whispered, shocked. You didn’t expect him to be there, you thought that he would have informed you before coming home, but he was there, in front of you in all his beauty. Being so far from him for almost nine months was hard for you: you went through hell alone, especially when you almost lost your baby, and having him in front of you was like a dream. You definitely thought that you were still dreaming.
“You’re pregnant.” He said, unable to look away from your belly. He let go the bag that he had on his shoulder, letting it fall to the ground. He couldn’t believe his eyes, he just couldn’t believe it. “Am i the father?”
That was the first thing that popped into his mind when he saw you and he immediately regretted saying that out loud when he saw your face.
“What do you mean? Are you really thinking that i slept with someone else just right after your departure? You’re my fucking husband, of course you’re the father.”
You were so angry.
You didn’t even realize it till that moment.
You were so angry because he left you alone with a baby in your belly, even if he didn’t know it, even if it wasn’t his fault since you decided not to tell him the truth. But you were definitely angry: he stayed away for so long and the first thing that he asked you is if you got pregnant with someone else?
“Why didn’t you tell me? I would have come back!” He said after few moments, still standing in front of the door, still shocked by the news.
“You took the job before asking me what i thought about it, what did i have to do? You didn’t even took one day to talked with me! You came here, saying that you were going to Bolivia and that you had a flight that same day!“
Jay knew that coming back home wouldn’t have been easy, he knew that you would’ve been upset and you had all the rights to be angry with him, but he definitely didn’t expect to come home and find you pregnant.
“Wait, did you know you were pregnant when i left?!”
You froze, then you stepped back and you invited him to enter the apartment, to talk about it privately.
Jay immediately came in, leaving the bag on the ground, completely focused on his wife. You closed the door behind you two and you leaned against the kitchen counter, sighing.
Jay, even if he was mad at you, immediately walked towards you and helped you; then he took a chair and he invited you to sit down, placing an hand on your shoulder and caressing you gently. You appreciated it but you perfectly knew that you two have still to talk about it.
“Yes.” You answered after that, placing an hand on your own belly, caressing it gently and feeling the baby kicking you hard. “I discovered it the same morning you accepted the job. I wanted to tell you when you came home but you talked first and I couldn’t tell you after that.”
Jay couldn’t believe his ears, he couldn’t believe that his wife hid something important like a baby from him for almost nine months. You should have told him, you should have told him the truth because he wouldn’t have left knowing that you were pregnant with his baby.
“You should have told me, Y/n!” He wasn’t able to control himself, he just yelled at you and, after that, he regretted it. You slightly jumped on the chair, with tears running down your cheeks. You knew that, you knew that he had all the rights to be angry with you but you weren’t prepared for this. You just wanted him to be home because you needed him but you never thought about how he would’ve reacted at the news. You had time to prepare yourself to become a mother and then he came home and discovered that he’s going to become a father in what, few days?
“I’m sorry.” He immediately told you, kneeling in front of you and placing his hands on your arms. “I’m sorry i yelled, it’s just that…. I wanted to know, I wanted to be here with you.”
You sobbed and cried, especially when his hands touched you after all that time. You missed him so much.
“I know.” You sobbed, looking at him. “I’m sorry, i wanted to tell you but I know that you wouldn’t left and… you said you needed it, I couldn’t stop you from that. I just wanted you to be happy again, I couldn’t see you so sad here. And… when you came here saying that you accept the job in Bolivia… i just couldn’t take it away from you. You were right saying that i had to let you go, i saw it in your eyes.”
Jay caressed your arms slowly and gently, then he leaned closer and he kissed your forehead.
“I’m sorry i left you alone.” He said, softly. And it was true. All the time, when he was in Bolivia for his new job, he thought about you and he felt guilty because he knew that you were alone, he knew that you would probably have been hurt. That’s why he asked Kim, Adam, Kevin and Hailey to be near you in case you needed them.
“Well, i wasn’t alone, was i?” You smiled softly through your tears; you took his hands and placed them on your belly the moment you felt your baby kicking. “He, or she, was with me all the time.”
Jay felt the kick against his palms and his eyes immediately filled with tears.
“Say hi to your daddy.” You whispered, apparently talking to your baby while looking at Jay in the eyes.
Jay wanted to say something, wanted to kiss your belly and whispered something to it like he was talking to your baby, but before he could say something, you moaned in pain.
“What’s wrong?” He immediately asked, concerned. “Is everything okay, babe?”
You looked down at yourself when you felt your legs wet.
“Oh no.” You whispered.
Jay looked at you, confused. “What’s happening?”
You looked at him and moaned in pain.
“ i think I’m in labor.”
“Fuck.” He said, placing an hand on his mouth after that. “I’m sorry, i swore in front of the baby!”
You giggled and shook your head but you were interrupted by the first contraction; you moaned in pain and you looked up at him.
“Hospital.” You whispered and he nodded.
“Hospital.” He agreed. “Holy shit, I’m going to be a father.”
“Jay.” You said while he took the car keys and the labor bag you prepared some weeks ago; he came back to you and he helped you get to your feet.
“I’m sorry!” He said, referring to his previous words.

Jay Halstead x Reader Oneshot
Synopsis: Jay and reader are together, and reader works at Med in ED with Will. Reader has a lot of anxiety because Jay is a cop, thinking every cop that is brought in may be Jay.
TW: anxiety/panic attacks is a main theme in this, also some mention of blood and doctor-y stuff because reader works at Med in ED
Requested by: @sorry-i-spaced
Thank you so much! This was fun to write!
Any other oneshot requests, please DM me! :)
“We got a Stevenson!” A paramedic called out as they rolled into the ED. You and several other doctors sprung into action, running toward where the paramedics were coming in. ‘Stevenson’ was the code name for a cop, to let Med know who it was, no matter if they were in uniform, plainclothes, or undercover.
“(Y/N)! Rhodes! Trauma three!” Maggie’s voice called from the desk. Working in the ED was no walk in the park, especially in the middle of Chicago. You made your way quickly to where Maggie pointed you, picking up the pace as they wheeled in a man who was surrounded by cops. You pushed through the crowd and into the room, seeing the man on the gurney with three bullet holes in him. You helped get him moved over, then assessed the damage, Dr. Rhodes right behind you to help.
“Three bullet wounds, center mass. I’m assuming this is the perpetrator, not our Stevenson?” You spoke out loud. Some of the officers outside the room confirmed your thoughts.
Your heart was already pumping from the adrenaline as you worked on the man, but you couldn’t help it as it beat faster, hoping the officer shot wasn’t Jay Halstead. It made you especially nervous when the officers outside the room talked amongst one another, saying the man shot was a detective. Bile started to rise in your throat, but you were pulled back by the monitors beeping rapidly. You took immediate action as you snapped out of your anxiety for just a few moments.
You finally stabilized the man enough to take him to surgery, letting the nurses and techs take him with Dr. Rhodes. You backed away, looking around the room at the mess that had been made. For a moment, you stood in silence, looking around at the blood and various instruments that were around the room, as well as the blood on your gloves and scrubs.
Blood. You saw it every day, and yet, you couldn’t help but get a nauseous at the sight. You thought maybe that detective, who was fighting for his life, was bleeding out. That maybe it was the man you loved. Maybe he was in the other room, clinging to life, and here you were, trying to save the man who shot him. The notion made you sick to your stomach. You ripped off your bloody gloves and left them in the room, quickly moving to the nearest bathroom to empty your stomach of your breakfast. You panted in between heaves, gripping the toilet for dear life as you trembled at the thought of Jay dying and you saving the man who killed him.
You and Jay had met through Will, one of your coworkers and closest friends at Chicago Med. Will and Jay were brothers, and both had taken a liking to you at first, but you ultimately decided that romance with a doctor at the same hospital as you would be too complicated. You never expected the anxiety that came with beings cop’s girlfriend, though. You’d been prone to anxiety in the past, but it ramped up when you started getting serious with Jay. You had episodes like this a lot, no matter what cop came in. It had never been Jay in the past, but it only took one bullet in the wrong spot for him to die.
When the nausea passed, you slowly pushed yourself to your feet, though still unsteady as your head spin. You flushed, washed your hands and face, then made your way to the locker rooms to change out of your scrubs and into a fresh pair. When you re-emerged, you were met with Will, who gently pulled you aside before anyone else could see you. “Hey, (Y/N), you okay?” Will already knew the answer to that. He was the only one who knew the full story about these episodes you had at work. Although Jay knew some of it, especially about your anxiety, he didn’t know the full picture, and you’d sworn Will into secrecy over it.
“Will, it wasn’t him, was it?”
“No, (Y/N), Jay is fine. I talked to him just a little bit ago. He is investigating this with Intelligence. He might still be here. He was looking for you.”
You let out a shaky breath, but nodded. You were relieved, but needed to see for yourself. You walked with Will back to where he’d last seen Jay, your stomach settling down as you saw him standing with Detective Lindsay, talking to Maggie. You walked over, leaning on the counter with a hum beside him, hand reaching out to rest atop his on the counter.
Jay smiled when he saw you, leaning over and kissing your cheek. “Hey, was looking for you earlier. That perp going to make it?”
Instantly, your anxiety faded away, as if it was never there in the first place. Jay had that effect on you, especially when he was upright and acting like himself. “It’s touch and go, I think,” you said with a soft sigh. “We did what we could. Rhodes took him to surgery prolly about a half hour ago. If he does make it, it’ll be a hard and long road.”
Jay hummed and looked up at Will, who had taken a place behind the counter with Maggie. “And what about the detective?”
“He’ll make it,” Will replied. “Barring complications, he should be back on the job within a few weeks.”
“That’s good,” Jay replied, shifting his gaze back to you, unable to help the smile that pulled on his lips. “Hey, don’t look so down. We’ve got this.”
Your eyes met his, not realizing you’d looked upset. You smiled at him, nodding. “I know,” you replied. “It just must be hard that it’s one of your own, yaknow?”
“The risks we take,” he said with a small shrug. His statement was so nonchalant, which you didn’t like. You had to force yourself to focus on anything else to keep your rising anxiety at bay. Jay and Erin left soon after, and you shuddered, but moved back to work, checking on some other patients.
— —
“Stevenson incoming!” Maggie’s voice called out. You froze, looking up from the computer you had been typing at, swallowing hard. Your mouth ran dry, as stats were called by the paramedics. “Male, mid-thirties, stabbed multiple times.” You stood quickly, but Maggie didn’t assign you to it. You probably wouldn’t have been much help anyways, seeing as you were on the verge of an attack.
A firm hand was placed on your shoulder, pulling you back to reality as you gasped, looking behind you to see Will. “Come on,” he said softly, nodding to you. “It’s okay, come on.”
You let out a shaky breath, walking with Will out to the small break room. He got you coffee, which you took whether you liked it or not. It was something to pull you back into reality. “I-I’m sorry, I just…”
“You don’t have to explain yourself to me,” Will said, shaking his head. “I get the same feeling every time, but Jay just texted me that we are meeting for lunch, so it can’t be him.”
“I shouldn’t feel so much relief from this,” you said, putting your hands to your face, wiping away some tears that had started to escape. “Someone is hurt, yaknow? But I… I’m so terrified of something happening.”
“Have you talked to anyone about this? Maybe Dr. Charles can help.”
“No, no,” you said, sighing heavily, sniffling and wiping your face. “I talked to therapists all throughout middle and high school. None of them even understood me. As far as I know, I’m just messed up mentally.”
“(Y/N),” Will sighed. “We’re all messed up mentally. We’re doctors.” He shook his head again, reaching over to put a hand on your arm. “Look, maybe you just need to find the right person. Besides, we know more about mental health and the brain now than we did then. There may be new tactics to help you cope, even if we can’t cure it.”
You were thankful for Will, nodding at his suggestions. “Maybe,” you muttered, leaning back in your chair and rubbing your face with your hands again, then coming back to down the coffee. “Thanks.”
“Any time,” he replied, nodding. “You’re not alone, alright?”
“Thanks,” you repeated. Just then, Will’s pager rang and he had to go, but he planted a soft kiss on the top of your head as he pulled you into a gentle embrace. As quick as he was beside you, he was gone, and you sank back down to the chair, looking at your empty coffee mug with despair. Maybe you’d never get better.
— —
The past few weeks had been filled with more and more scares. There was a serial killer on the loose who was targeting cops. Your body was racked with constant anxiety every time a Stevenson was brought into the ED. The only time you weren’t was when you were assisting with a surgery, so you stayed with Dr. Rhodes most of the time to ensure you were in surgery. It was better that way for the patients and for you.
The surgery you’d just assisted in finishing was a tough one. It was a kid who had fallen on a pair of scissors the wrong way. However, Dr. Rhodes was like magic, and your own hands remained calm and steady as you fell into a zen-like trance. You weren’t thinking of anything else but the surgery at hand. The anatomy and biology of the body lying below you. It was the only time and place you’d felt at peace, despite the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As you scrubbed out, washing your hands and arms, someone came into the room. “(Y/N)…” Will’s voice rang, a hand coming to your shoulder.
“Hey,” you said softly as you turned off the water and dried your hands. “What’s up?” Your mind was still calm, but when you looked up to Will, you could tell something was off.
“Don’t freak out on me, alright?”
“Will…?” You searched his face for the answer as he squeezed your shoulders with his hands.
“Just, promise.”
“Uh… I… okay…?”
“Okay,” he said with a sigh, knowing that was good enough. “Look, Jay was brought in, but-“
“What?!” You didn’t let him finish before trying to push past him to find Jay.
Will kept you in place. “No, no, (Y/N), stop, it’s okay.”
“This is NOT okay, Will! How are you so calm?!” The bile had begun to rise in your throat as you feared the worst. Tears jumped to your eyes and you had to see him. You had to know Jay was alright, even if he wasn’t.
“Hey, hey, look at me. It’s Will. Look at me!” You looked back up to Will, his hands squeezing your shoulders again to pull you back, shaking you a little. “Look, see, I’m right here. Let me finish before you break down, at least.”
You scoffed, a small scoff to hide the soft laugh of that last remark. Although you were on the verge of an attack, that pulled you back from the edge a bit, making you shake your head. “Just tell me then!”
“Jay just had a gash on his arm from a piece of metal he ran across. He just ran into a piece of metal. His sergeant sent him, just to make sure it was good. He is not shot. He is not hurt badly. He is coherent and walking around. He needed a few stitches, but that’s all.”
You searched Will’s face for any sign of him playing down the injury, but you knew Will wouldn’t lie to you. You let out a breath, wiping your face. “No, I still have to see him though because… if I don’t, I’ll never recover from this feeling.”
“I know,” Will replied. “Come on, he’s in five. But you know if you go in there like this, you’re going to have to come clean?”
“I need to see him,” you affirmed as Will walked you downstairs to where Jay was.
When you got there, you walked in and pushed the curtain back over the door to ensure you had privacy. You nearly broke down as you saw Jay, his shirt off, a bandage on his upper arm. Whether from anxiety or relief, you had no idea. The emotions pulling you in different directions was crippling, and you just stood there, trembling as tears streaked down your cheeks.
Jay looked over you as you stood, frozen in time, hot tears racing down and dripping off your chin. He got up quickly, his soft voice finally hitting your ears. “Hey, hey, (Y/N), what’s the matter?”
As he caught you between his arms, you started to sob, nearly collapsing into his chest. “Fuck, Jay!”
Jay was surprised, but caught you with ease, holding you close to his bare chest. “What did I do this time?” He teased, trying to make you feel better.
You were barely in the mood as you took a fist to his chest, hitting him softly. “Don’t even joke, it’s not fair!”
Jay turned more serious, pulling back to look at you as you sobbed. “Hey… hey, just tell me what’s going on.” You couldn’t muster any more words, wiping your face with your hands. Jay pulled you over, sitting on the bed and pulling you to sit beside him. “(Y/N)?”
“I have… I have this… this intense fear,” you finally spoke, soft words only coming out with your breaths. “This intense… burning fear… all the time… that…” You swallowed hard, leaning into his shoulder on his uninjured arm.
“That what?” Jay prompted after a moment of silence.
“That you’re going to come in here and die!” You sobbed out, moving to cling to him again, arms around his torso. “Jay, every time a cop comes in here, I can’t take it! Anxiety and panic takes me over! I-I can’t! I love you so much, and I can’t lose you!”
“Hey, hey baby, you won’t lose me. You won’t.” Jay held you tightly against his chest once again, kissing your head. “Hey, come here, look at me.” He pulled back, letting you sit up and then gently taking your chin in his fingers. He tenderly pulled your chin up, then leaned down to meet you, planting a soft kiss to your lips. When he pulled back, he let out a breath. “Nothing will ever take me away from you… Nothing. Ever.”
With that, your emotions finally leveled out. You swallowed hard and reached up to cup his face, looking over his freckles. You smiled a little as your eyes met his. “Promise?”
“I promise,” he replied, matching your smile and leaning down to kiss you again.

Will was what you could call the jealous type. Just a smidge. And by a smidge, it was a lot. He couldn’t help it. Whenever he saw someone making goo-goo eyes at you he felt his heart race in his chest and something take over before he butted in and swooped you away.
He didn’t make a habit of it. It wasn’t like he didn’t trust you, no it was other guys he didn’t trust. Especially not the guy sitting at the bar that was making clear sex eyes at you even though he was sitting right there.
You paid no attention to it, knowing that what you were wearing was hot and that if it got Will turned on then it was sure to pull other people’s heads, men and women alike. “Will, eyes are over here baby,” You coo softly, a light laugh.
Usually you’d be saying that if his eyes were lingering on the cleavage of your shirt or dress, not when he was shooting daggers across the room at some guy that hadn’t even spoken a word to either of you. “C’mon, why are you so worked up?”
His eyes trailed up your hand as you put it over his, following up your bare arm until his eyes found your face. “Because, he won’t stop staring at you like he wants to eat you.” He didn’t hide the annoyance in his voice, the squeeze of his hand the only thing keeping him from going up to the guy and giving him his two cents.
With a sigh you lean forward, looking up at him, “Yeah well he doesn’t get the opportunity to do that now does he?” You raised an eyebrow at him, nodding your head to the exit. You guys had already paid for everything, just nursing the end of the last couple drinks that you’d ordered.
Through clenched teeth he sighed, “No he does not,” In seconds he was out of his seat, his hand tightly in yours as he pulled you out of the restaurant. His lips were on yours by the time you hit the side of the car, moving together the way they always did.
“Wait til we get back to your place,” You gently pushed him back, his eyes falling down over you as he pressed one last kiss to your jaw before rounding the car and getting in the passenger seat.
Will tried his hardest to keep his hands to himself during the drive, putting his hand possessively onto your thigh and keeping it there. The urge to move it higher was strong but he didn’t want to start something that he couldn’t finish until the two of you were upstairs.
The second you heard the door lock you tossed your shoes and bag to the side, just in time for Will to grab your waist and lift you up. Your back pinned to the wall as he pressed into a steamy kiss. He couldn’t help it.
Everything that kept him sane and cool had gone out the window and pure primal instinct took over as he sucked hickies onto any spot he could get his mouth on. “You…” He trailed off, sliding a hand along your thigh, pushing the dress you were wearing up. “Are mine.”
He held onto your hips as he pressed his hips into yours, groaning against your skin. “All mine.” Will’s words faded into the back of your mind as he rolled his hips against yours again, the slight friction only making your legs tighten around him.
“Will please-“ You breathed out, head loling back as his hot kisses crossed your throat, his nose trailing up as he pulled back to look at you.
There was pure lust in his eyes, he couldn’t even see anything through it. He was straining against his pants, hearing your soft gasps sending all of the blood going south, the friction helping immensely.
You put a hand on his cheek, kissing him roughly, “I’m yours. All yours.” At your words he pulled away from the wall, pulling you to the couch, in too much of a hurry to carry this on down the hall.
As soon as your back hit the fabric of the couch, Will was stepping back, his jeans and boxers coming off in one fell sweep as he leaned over you, letting you have the opportunity to pull his shirt off of him.
Once it was off you leaned forward, kissing his chest, before sliding down lower, hands sliding over his hips. “You’re the only one I want.” You mumble, looking up at him through your lashes, his breath hitching the second your hand wraps around him.
You’d sucked him off before but now it felt so, so personal. Like you had something to prove but not to him but for him. That you loved him more than anyone you’d ever known.
One long lick up his length sent chills down his spine, his body instinctively twitching forward. “God…” He breathed out, his eyes falling on you as you gave soft little kitten licks to the tip, smearing the precum around with your spit.
It didn’t take much for him to come undone, the warmth of your mouth as you slowly took him on had him mewling, his hand instantly sliding into your hair, grasping tightly. “You feel so good baby..” He let out a low moan, doing everything in his power to keep himself from fucking into your mouth.
Slowly you slid down to the hilt, your tongue circling as you pulled back up, lowering back down repeatedly. He tugged at your hair, knees almost buckling as you held onto his thighs for balance and leverage as you bobbed your head faster, craving to bring him just to the edge.
“Fuck, you keep going like that I’m gonna cum right now,” He clenched his jaw, feeling himself pulling closer and closer.
You pulled off, looking up at him, “Uh-uh, I want you in me when you do that,” You said low, your voice like honey as he reached down, pulling the panties off of you easily, your dress still sitting up at your hips
No matter how many times he saw you, Will still looked at you with big love filled eyes, even when he was seconds away from fucking your brains out.
“I swear you’re like an angel,” He muttered, leaning his knees against the couch as he lined himself up with you, reaching to grab your hand. “You ready?”
As soon as you nodded he pushed in, feeling you squeeze his hand as your legs parted more and more the farther in he got. As soon as he bottomed out he let go of your hand, bringing his to the side of your face. “Look at you all pretty and laid out for me.” He leaned forward, kissing you before rolling his hips up, smirking at the moan that slipped your mouth.
You reached to try and cover your mouth but Will instantly reached up, shaking his head, “No, I want to hear every little sound my girl makes.” He practically demanded, rocking his hips faster, pulling another moan from you.
“Will-“ His name fell off your tongue easier than anything you’ve ever said before. Your hands went to his shoulders, grasping on tightly, sure enough leaving imprints of your nails in his skin. “God you feel amazing,” Your head leaned back, trying to press any closer to him.
He gripped at your hips, tight enough there would be bruises in the morning, as he fucked into you faster, the moans and whimpers pushing him as far as he wanted. “You’re so beautiful.” His lips attached to your neck as you tried to hold him a scream.
With each movement he was pushing you closer and closer, the inevitable orgasm building up in your stomach, “Shit Will, I’m gonna-“ He shook his head slightly, his movements slowing down.
“Only when I let you.”
Your eyes met his as he pulled a hand, his thumb just ghosting over your clit, the feeling almost enough to send you over the edge.
As your hips bucked you looked up at him, “Will please, I need you,” You begged, holding the eye contact as he circled around you, in time with each movement.
He raised an eyebrow, setting you up to fail as he relentlessly attacked your clit, watching you squirm, bite your lip. Your cheek. Everything to keep your pleasure to yourself. But you couldn’t.
Your mind went black as you clenched so tightly around him, you were surprised he didn’t follow right away but instead his thrust picked up, fucking you through it.
The room spun as he continued to touch you, watching your eyes roll back, your back lift, thighs fighting to not press together.
“Will, please-“
“Oh I’m sorry, is this not what you wanted? To cum so bad?” He looked down at you, not stopping as you left scratches down his back.
He shifted the two of you, his hand going back to rub your swollen clit once you were situated , his dick further inside of you, the change of angle and pace giving nothing but another wave of pleasure to your body.
Your eyes screwed shut, not minding at all that he was using you the way he wanted, only caring that he was pushing your legs so far apart that you knew you’d be sore in the morning.
It only took a couple minutes before the familiar feeling built up in your body as strings of his name fell off your lips. “Go ahead baby, you’re doing so good. My girl taking me so well,” He leaned down, cooing into your ear.
The shiver of his breath went right to the spot between your legs, sending you right over the edge a second time, Will kissing at your neck as he gripped the back of the couch.
He was close himself, the feeling of you around him, the wetness and the sound of your mewls and moans bringing him closer and closer. He pulled back to look down at you, fucking you through your second orgasm as he felt himself getting sloppy.
You looked up at him, letting out a light breath, “Please cum in me,” You asked softly, those four words tying the knot that sent him overboard. with one final thrust he collapsed forward, a loud string of swears slipping from his mouth as he released inside of you.
His hips bucked against yours a couple more times, earning a whine from him before he pulled out, leaning down to kiss you. “I love you.” He said so firmly, with such passion that your heart felt like it grew a thousand times.
“I love you too,” You said back, leaning the rest of the way into the kiss. He grabbed each side of your face, both of your chests heaving and slick with sweat as he reached back to undo the back of your dress.
A light smirk on his face he looked up at you, “I have one last idea if you’re down for it my love,” He cooed, his hands dancing along your back.
Even with the lack of breath you nodded, still craving his touch. “Please,” You muttered, Will instantly leaning to pull the dress clean off of you, lifting it over your head.
“Alright, you remember what to do if it’s too much yeah?” He pressed a firm kiss to the front of your throat, leaving a mark before dipping lower across your collarbone.
Faintly you nodded, breathing out a sigh, “Tap your shoulder twice.” You answered, feeling his hand slide up your thigh. A million and one thoughts were running through your mind, every single one being replaced as Will pressed a finger into you.
A sharp gasp left your lips, back arching into his lips as your hips twitched towards him, still sensitive as he twisted his finger inside of you. “Good girl,” He hummed, sucking clear marks down your chest until his face was aligned with his hand.
His breath hit your skin, him looking up at you as he left more kisses on your inner thigh, inching closer to your pussy. “God Will…” You whined out.
The sound of his name once again leaving your lips had him sliding a second finger in, pumping in and out strategically. Of course he knew how to use his hands, he was a doctor. Past plastic surgeon. He could lead you to another orgasm with his eyes closed.
Will’s tongue swiped along your clit, circling it slowly as he watched you fall apart under his touch. Your hips twitched up, his other hand coming up to push them down, holding you against the cushions as he replaced his fingers with his mouth, devouring every single bit of you.
The mixture of you and him inside you was heaven, his mouth moving quickly. He put your legs over his shoulders, looping his arm around them, using his first two fingers to rub against your clit as his tongue worked across you.
“Fuck, fucking-“ You practically screamed out, your hands falling into his hair, holding tightly. “Will-“ No other words came to mind as you were filled with his touch.
It didn’t take long for your legs to shake, heels crossing. As your third orgasm ripped through you as you wet his face, trying not to grind down on his tongue, his nose bumping your sweet spot as he looked up at you, not stopping until you told him to.
If he could stay between your legs for the rest of his life he would, it was probably his favorite part of the night. Tasting you, being able to bring you into the trembling state with just his tongue.
It was blissful. As he worked you over, openly ready to build you up for a forth time you reached out, tapping his shoulder as your heart hammered in your chest.
He was off of you in seconds, instead leaning up to put a hand on your cheek, “Are you okay?” He asked softly, looking down at your flushed and fucked out face.
Slowly you nodded, “Mhm, jus’ need a minute,” You breathed out, your legs and hips sore. Will stroked a thumb across your cheek before shifting onto the couch.
“How about we call it a night? Come here,” He lightly grabbed your hand, guiding you over to him to lay against his chest. “Rest a little and we can get up to take a shower in a couple minutes,” His hand raked through your hair comfortingly, his eyes never leaving you.
You smiled and nodded, “Okay,” You slightly lifted to look at him, “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”

It was like Will could sense when you’d had a bad day at work. That he had some sort of alarm go off in his head anytime you so much as felt a hint of stress or frustration. It’s what you loved about him. How caring he was. How he always went above and beyond to make sure your day ended better than how it had gone.
Maybe it was the doctor in him, you didn't know. All you knew was that you had struck gold in terms of the perfect guy and for as long as you both lived, you would never even think of anybody else but him.
You always looked forward to going home, more so now that you had someone waiting for you. Someone who loved you and would do anything to make sure you never forgot that. Some days Will wasn’t there because he was on shift, but even on those days he made sure to leave you a little something special to come home to. Something he knew would make you smile when he couldn’t himself.
However you knew he’d be home today. Waiting eagerly to make you feel better after your God awful day at work, one you were wanting to put behind you as quickly as possible.
The whole way up to your shared apartment you were twitching with excitement, trying your hardest to think of what it might be this time. What little thing he’d prepared for you or which item he bought that might make you smile and the second you unlocked the front door you simply dumped your bag on the floor and beelined for the living room.
Will was sitting on the couch, his back to you and the moment he sensed your presence he jumped. Literally. He was on his feet faster than you could blink, looking all embarrassed as he’d lost track of time and hadn’t finished preparing his surprise for you.
“You’re early.” He babbled out, scratching at the back of his head as you furrowed your brow a little, slowly making your way towards him.
“No I’m not.” You replied, rolling your lips a little as you couldn’t help but smile over his minor fluster. You folded your arms, taking another step forwards to feel your legs press against the back of the couch as you craned your neck to try and see what he was hiding behind his back. “Whatcha got there?”
“Nothing.” Will said casually, leaning his body parallel to yours to stop you from peeking, making you huff a little and pout dramatically. “It’s not ready yet.”
“Oh come on, just let me see.” You whined childishly, pouting again as you clasped your hands under your chin and batted your eyelashes at him. He never could say no when you gave him your best puppy dog eyes, something you abused greatly, and you could tell he was about to break. “Please?”
Sighing, Will ran his hand through his hair, mumbling a faint ‘fine’ which in turn enticed a quiet ‘yay’ to escape your lips in a way that made him smile, his heartwarming over just how downright adorable you got in these moments. He stepped aside, offering you a full view of the bouquet of flowers he had been trying to put together, most of which were still scattered across the coffee table and hadn’t made it into the vase yet.
“You got me flowers?” You said softly, your heart all but bursting in your chest as you rounded the couch, eyes never once leaving the colourful array covering the table.
“I was trying to make you one of those mixed bouquet things.” Will replied, gesturing to the mess behind him. “But it turns out that flower arranging is a lot harder than it looks.”
“Oh, Will.” You breathed out, feeling the slight warmth begin to form in your eyes as you subtly wiped at them.
You didn’t care if they were only flowers. Didn’t care that he’d bought you them plenty of times before. It was more the fact that he’d been trying to put together his own bouquet for you, that really got to you. He didn’t have to do that. He could have gotten a florist to do it, picked a premade one or even grabbed a small bunch from a stand on his way home from work.
But he hadn’t.
Instead he’d gone to all this trouble to, not only gather up all your favourite flowers in your favourite colours, you might add, but he’d spent what seemed to be hours trying to arrange them for you himself. And if that wasn’t love, then you didn't know what was.
“Baby?” Will stepped forward, taking your hand in his and drawing your teary attention away from the mess of flowers. He pulled you gently towards him, his free hand cupping the side of your face the second you were close enough. “Are you okay?”
“I’m perfect.” You whispered, voice a little shaky as you leaned into his touch. You turned your head a little, placing a soft kiss against the palm of his hand. “You’re perfect.”
“I take it you’re happy with the flowers?” He asked, a quiet chuckle escaping his lips as he brought you into his arms, allowing you to rest your head on his chest and feel the rhythmic beat of his heart beneath it.
“I’m more than happy.” You sighed contently, and honestly the flowers went forgotten the minute he encapsulated you in his warmth, feeling the touch of his lips atop your head as he kissed you.
You may have loved all the little things he did for you, but pretty much all of the time it was simply Will himself that was capable of making your day one hundred times better than you ever could have asked for.

WILL HALSTEAD MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
One minute you were heading towards home in a car full of groceries, the next you were being roused by a familiar voice, with a ringing in your ears.
“Y/N? Y/N, can you hear me?”
Your vision swam in front of you, before you recognized the blonde hair that framed the familiar face that was hovering in front of you as Sylvie Brett.
“Sylvie…?”
Sylvie let out a small smile. “Hey, it’s okay. We’re gonna get you out of here, alright?”
That’s when you remembered - the screech of tires, the sound of a long honk, the impact of a much larger vehicle crashing into the side of your car. And coupled with the pain you were feeling everywhere, you knew you’d been in an accident.
It was just then that you felt a cramp rip through your stomach.
“The baby…” You groaned, trying to turn to look at her properly now when you realized she’d already put the neck brace on you.
“We got you, alright? Try not to move.” Sylvie reassured you, before she glanced at Kelly, who nodded.
Matt climbed into the back of the car now. “Hey, Y/N. How are you doing?”
“Matt, I think he’s coming.” You said, your voice trembling as you felt another contraction and you felt Matt shift around behind you.
“Okay, just listen to my voice, alright?” Matt said, keeping his voice even. “We’re going to get you out as fast as we can.”
Matt barked instructions and you heard him talk to Kelly while Sylvie called back for your attention. Matt worked as quickly as he could, gently draping a jacket over you before the loud sounds filled the car.
You tried to focus on your breathing, even though the loud sounds of the firefighters cutting through the metal of your car filled your ears, but what was even more distracting were the intensifying contractions.
You heard Sylvie hurry Matt along without saying too much, just as Matt lifted his jacket off of you.
As you concentrated on breathing, you realized they were already lifting you out. You could hear Matt’s voice but the pain was too distracting. You weren’t sure if anywhere else hurt because the contractions were coming quicker and with more intensity.
You felt a gripping fear wash over you as you realized your son wasn’t going to wait until you got to the hospital. Sylvie noticed the look on your contorted face and she gave Emily a discreet shake of her head, as they checked you out.
“Alright, Y/N. Look at me.” Sylvie’s voice was reassuring as she stepped up beside you. “He’s not waiting, alright?”
You nodded back at her, finally raising your head to glance at your friend. “He’s coming now.” You agreed, between breaths. The contractions were rising in intensity and coming faster.
You heard someone climb into the back of the ambulance, only registering Herrmann’s voice when he helped you up slightly so you could lean against him as Sylvie and Emily got ready for the emergency delivery.
“He’s already crowning.” Sylvie said, glancing up and Herrmann reached for your hand gently.
“Just breathe.” Herrmann reminded you, as Sylvie nodded.
“And push.”

Maggie put down the phone and glanced around the ED. “Alright people, we have incoming!”
Will headed straight for the front, as Maggie called out to him. “Dr Halstead. Not you.”
Will frowned, confused as Ethan nodded at Maggie and rushed ahead to join Connor. “Maggie… what?”
“It’s Y/N.” Maggie explained, as Will froze, almost like there was a ringing in his ears.
“What?”
Before Maggie could open her mouth again, the blaring of sounds that signaled their arrival made both of them look up and Will was already running. “Y/N? Y/N!”
“Will, wait. They delivered in the field.” Maggie pointed to where Sylvie was in another treatment room with Natalie. His struggle was almost visible. “Connor and Ethan have her and I’ll be there, alright? Go to your son.”
Will exhaled and nodded, turning in the opposite direction.
“Nat…”
Natalie turned to look at him and smiled, nodding at him. “Vitals look good, I’m going to send him upstairs. How’s Y/N?”
Will turned around to look back at the opposite treatment room before he turned back again to look at Natalie.
Natalie nodded. “Alright, come on. She’s in safe hands, Will. Why don’t you come up with us?”
Will nodded, glancing back at the tiny human that was lying in the cot now, barely believing that it was his son. “Congratulations, Will.” Natalie said softly, smiling.
Tumblr media
Your eyes fluttered open again. Your whole body hurt but only one thought floated right to the top.
You sat up quickly, wincing at the pain that shot through your body, just as Will opened the door.
“Woah, Y/N!” Will reached you in two strides, a protective arm going around your shoulders like an instinct. “Slow.”
You glanced up at Will. “Will, the baby… he…”
Will just gave you a smile. “He’s good. He’s right behind me.”
He finished his sentence, just as Natalie arrived, pushing the cot ahead of her, where your son lay.
Will turned to help arrange the pillows behind your back, pushing you to lean back gently. “Slow.”
Natalie smiled before she gently put your son into your arms. “Will said you guys haven’t decided on a name so we’ve just put down Baby Boy Halstead on the label. I’ll give you guys some time.
Will nodded and smiled, thanking her before Will turned his eyes back to the both of you.
You smiled back up at him. “And everything was okay?”
Will exhaled, leaning in again to put an arm around you. “You were barely conscious when you arrived. Everything was not okay. Until now.”
You leaned your head against Will’s chest and he pressed his lips on the top of your head.
“So save for keeping his name as Baby Boy? Are we still going with Isaac?” Will asked you, a smile lacing his voice.
You gave a small chuckle and nodded. “We decided this months ago.”
Will smiled. “I know but just in case you felt different when you held him in your arms, or looked at his face.” He leaned in towards the baby in your arms as your son opened his eyes slowly, his little hand reaching out for Will’s finger.
“Isaac Halstead.” You whispered, smiling.
The nurse came in then to see if she could help you to nurse Isaac and Will nodded a greeting at the nurse. Isaac was quick on the uptake and you nodded at the nurse’s comment. “Probably smart like his father.” You answered with a smile.
After Isaac was done and the nurse had left, Will leaned back in to press a kiss to your temple but you turned your face up towards him and Will smiled as he pressed his lips against yours. “Thank god you’re both okay.” Will whispered.
You smiled. “Once I’m out of here, we need to go to 51.”
“No need.”
You glanced up at Herrmann’s voice, spotting Matt, Kelly and Sylvie. “Thought we’d come by to see how you were doing.”
You smiled, as they piled in, Matt and Kelly going around to the other side of the bed.
“Thanks guys, I…” Will started and Matt nodded, leaning over to shake Will's outstretched hand.
“We’re just glad they’re safe.” Matt answered just as they were joined by Connor, Ethan and Jay.
“Hey, I got here as fast I could… I…” Jay’s voice trailed off.
You smiled. “Hey Uncle Jay, get over here and meet your nephew.”
Will grinned, picking Isaac up and putting him gently in Jay’s arms.
Jay glanced up and smiled. “Congratulations, guys.”
You just glanced up at Will smiling, feeling the residual uneasiness thoroughly subside as your husband stood above you, your son sleeping soundly in Jay’s arms knowing that the three of you were surrounded by family.

Excuses
Warnings: Mentions of fainting, diabetes, canon-typical injuries
Summary: You suffer the consequences just because your teacher thought you were making excuses.
A/N: First fic of 2024!!! I had plans that I was going to post weekly in the new year just like last year but things went downhill. This january and february has had its very good but also really bad moments and even writing this was a struggle. I've found myself in a weird place of wanting to write but struggling and all of a sudden not being able to balance my schoolwork and writing. So I took a lil step back to solely focus on my work but looking at everything now, my fic updates will be much less frequent but hopefully just as or if not, more fun to read.
I feel bad for not saying or posting anything since the new year but I'm here now and hopefully will be more alive. I've got lots planned for you beautiful people, several series and way too many fics in my drafts that I cannot wait for you all to read. This wasn't as long or as juicy as I intended but my brain completely failed me so I hope this is good enough. I initially wanted to post this at the beginning of March but I finished the final editing today so here you go!!
Final note before we start, I have general knowledge about diabetes but that's all from my grandma. I have no idea if it's the same for teenagers so I'm sorry for any mistakes. Happy reading!!
Tumblr media
Your biology teacher had been on maternity for three weeks now and you were seriously contemplating life.
Because of the crappy rules surrounding maternity leave, when your teacher refused to return before her three months ended, your school had a supply teacher fill in for her till she came back.
Since day one, you knew you hated her.
It was mid lesson and you knew as soon as you started feeling sluggish that your sugar levels were dropping. Your thoughts were only confirmed when your Dexcom receiver let you know of your decreasing glucose.
This wasn't a usual occurrence. Will and Jay always made sure you had eaten enough and you had the means to maintain the needed glucose levels so that nothing happened.
Alas, you were up late revising and you were stressing about keeping up your good grades. Jay was rushing you out the door because he needed to go to a scene he'd just been called to and Will was out walking Kol and hadn't seen you leave.
In conclusion, it'd been a hot minute since you last ate something.
The school were well aware of your diabetes. It was one of the very important things your brothers stressed them about when you first started.
Most students knew about it actually, having seen your Dexcom and not understanding since a diabetic child apparently wasn't common according to them.
So, when you randomly pulled out a snack from your bag mid class, no one questioned it and instead would make sure you were okay. There'd never been a problem before in school and everyone wanted it to stay that way.
However, this new teacher, Mrs Byrne was apparently completely unaware of your medical condition.
"Y/N. You know the rules about eating in class." She said strictly, pulling away all the attention from the board onto you.
She stopped you in the middle of opening the packet of fruit gummies. You frowned, looking at her confused along with your classmates.
"I have diabetes." You said bluntly, continuing to open the packet. "I don't eat this and I'll pass out."
Mrs Byrne only rolled her eyes, smiling at you condescendingly. "I've heard that excuse hundreds of times, give those to me."
You scoffed at the audacity, refusing to hand over what was yours.
It was when she started walking towards your desk with a pep in her step that the entire class got involved. Their raised voices overlapped, some angrier than others over what was happening.
However, you too were Stubborn alike to your brothers so you kept as firm of a grip of the packet. You turned a blind eye to the anger fuelled cover teacher. You continued to smile as she spewed threats of all sorts.
Due to your frustration and annoyance over the teacher who wanted to take your gummies away, you didn't notice how everything started change; how hard it was to move your eyes and lips, your limbs getting heavier and you thoughts slowly getting muddled up.
Lost in a daze, you were no longer able to fight back when she pulled harder, successfully snatching the small packet out of your hands. It was now that the class got furious, your friends were already up and at your side but now they were verbally attacking the teacher.
Fed up with her petty behaviour, you were going to get up and go to the nurses office who would take care of you but getting out your seat was harder said than done.
With one of your friends help, you weren't too sure who was helping you from your hazy sight that cleared when you blinked too many times.
You were wobbly on your feet, taking slow and hesitant steps towards the front of the classroom but before you could leave, you felt your legs give out and everything went black.
*****
It turned out that supposed crime scene that he was imminently needed at was nothing but a prank by a bunch of college boys resulting in a grumpy Hank putting them in cuffs and having them fined for a very reasonable reason.
That's how the rest of the unit found themselves finishing up paperwork, catching up about life in general as they debated what they were getting for lunch.
Jay was smugly sitting back, eyes flickering between Kevin and Adam who were bickering over something trivial when his phone rung, catching everyone's attention.
They were all so bored and normally when one of their phones went off during work hours, it meant something came up and they were needed.
In interest, everyone turned their heads towards Jay and waited for him to tell them they got a crime scene.
Picking up his phone, Jay's brows furrowed at the number, confused as to why your school was calling him in the middle of the day. They'd only call him if two things happened: You'd gotten in trouble or you got hurt.
"Hello. Is this Y/N Halsteads brother Jay?" A voice he couldn't recognised asked, most likely some lady from the main office.
"Yeah, that's me." Jay confirmed, sitting up in preparation for whatever he was going to be told.
"So sorry to interrupt you sir but Y/N collapsed in class." The lady said with guilt laced in her words. "Your other brother didn't pick up the phone. We called to let you know we had to call the paramedics and they've taken her to Chicago Med."
"Uh yeah." Jay said, collecting his jacket and keys. "Yes, thank you."
Not waiting for a reply, Jay hung up and quickly knocked on Hank's office door frame.
"Sarge, I gotta get Y/N-"
"Go get her. We're done here."
*****
Wanting to pull his hair out, Will rubbed his eyes in frustration, glaring at his patients scans that only confused him further. He was tired and was coming to half way through his twenty four hour shift.
"Dr Halstead- Uh, Dr Rhodes in T4." Maggie stumbled, looking down at her brick and making sure she read it correctly.
"What's wrong?" Will asked, confused as to why Maggie changed her mind which she usually never did.
"It's Y/N."
Now fully awake, Will followed Connor towards the ambulance bay where you were being rolled in. You were groggily sitting up on the stretcher, you hair a mess and a few scratches around your face and hands from when you fell.
"Sylvie, what happened?" Will asked the blonde paramedic while looking you over. He desperately wanted to check you over himself but let Connor do his thing. He really did not need Ms Goodwin on his case today.
"Teachers didn't tell us much but her classmates said she collapsed after not being able to eat." Sylvie relayed the minimal information she knew, shrugging her shoulders when the two doctors looked at her weirdly. "No one would tell us anything more."
"Y/N, it's Connor. Can you hear me kid?" Connor said while pulling out his penlight. He was like another brother to you, his concern just as high. "Can you tell me what happened?"
You groaned, mumbling nonsense with your eyes screwed closed. Your words were mostly unintelligible but Will understood them mere seconds later.
Fixing the problem you complained about, Will turned down the lights and let Connor continue fussing over you.
It didn't take long to find out the cause of your collapse, Will sighing at the news when he read the numbers from your tests.
"I thought she was always on top of her sugar levels." Connor said, closing the room door so you could sleep in peace.
And what he said was completely true but they weren't aware of why you couldn't today specifically of all days.
"She is." Will said, rubbing a hand down his face in frustration. "Maybe her dexcom malfunctioned or something."
Connor hummed, agreeing with his friend.
"Hmm, maybe."
*****
Arriving at Med, Will gave Jay a detailed rundown of everything he new about your medical state but also the events pre your hospital arrival.
Getting a good look at you, holding your hand in his and kissing you on your forehead, Jay was more than happy to leave you in your oldest brothers safe hands while he got to the bottom of this entire ordeal.
He noticed Sylvie was still at Med, Foster mentioning they were running low on a few supplies so they needed some stocking up. Jay took this opportunity to interview the two paramedics and try to get further understanding on this situation that wasn't making much sense to him.
Arriving at your school, Jay had some thoughts in mind but they weren't very concrete and his confidence wasn't as strong as he'd like it to be.
Walking into the school, Jay immediately noticed an entire class sitting and standing around in the corridor waiting in front of the principals office.
One of the girls who had been sitting in a chair had caught sight of Jay, her eyes widening before she smiled, gently nudging the girl next to her and pointing in his direction. The girls reaction was the exact same.
This created a sort of domino effect as the boy next to her noticed Jay and everyone was telling the other of his sudden arrival. The once silent corridor was now beginning to fill with murmurs and whispers, all their eyes glued onto his figure that moved down the corridor, their shocked faces quickly changing into smiles and smirks.
It seems that Jay had a reputation of sorts.
"Why are you making so much noise? What did I just say about talking-"
The principal cut himself off from his scolding when he suddenly noticed Jay's presence, his face blanching as all the pieces clicked into place.
"Detective Halstead! What a surprise, we weren't expecting to see you so soon-"
This time Jay cut him off, not too bothered about his lack manners. "My brothers with Y/N at the hospital so I thought there was no other perfect time."
The principal remained silent.
"Now, why don't you explain to me why my sister fainted under your watch?"
The students behind Jay couldn't help but snicker knowingly.
