“Halstead, third time in a month, that’s a record even for you.”
An amused expression appeared on your face as you entered the room of the patient you were supposed to see, who turned out to be no one other than Jay Halstead. He was lying on the bed, his back resting on the raised headboard and a bored expression on his face which however disappeared as soon as he saw you enter.
“Oh yeah I couldn't wait to see you, Dr. Sunshine,” he replied, letting his eyes wander unscrupulously along your uniform-covered figure, before returning them to your face and giving you a full on smile.
This was a nickname Jay had given you since the first moment you met and since then he had never stopped calling you that. In fact, since that day he had noticed how you always had a smile on your lips, constantly, how nothing seemed to disturb you. You always had a happy and serene expression on your face and this was one of the things that most attracted him from the beginning.
The two of you had met some time ago when Jay had arrived at Med's to question a suspect who he had injured during a chase and who you had taken into care.
He remembered how impressed he was with you when he first saw you, he couldn't deny you were a beautiful woman. But it was the marked humor with which you addressed him and your sharp but nice jokes that truly mesmerized him. While you two talked in front of that helpless patient who did nothing but bring his eyes between you and the detective, Jay found himself being attracted more and more to you, feeling the ever-increasing desire to get to know you better.
After that exchange in front of the patient, you left Jay talking to the suspect and walked out of the room, winking at him before closing the door behind you and leaving Jay standing there looking like an idiot.
Needless to say, as soon as he finished questioning the suspect, he immediately turned to his brother with the aim of asking for information about you. He didn't know why but he wanted to know everything he could about you. He had looked for you so he could have the opportunity to talk to you again but you were already with another patient.
From that day you had never left Jay's mind or his thoughts.
He found himself going to Med's every time for all sorts of reasons, most of which involved having to say something to his brother who couldn't help but make fun of the detective. You obviously weren't stupid and there was no shortage of your comments regarding the fact there was a very different reason behind those visits to which Jay responded with some mischievous joke that made you blush from head to toe.
However, there was no shortage of visits either due to some injuries Jay got due to his job but that didn't stop him from shamelessly flirting with you even if he was on a hospital bed.
He loved this relationship that had been created between you, the flirting, teasing each other, and every opportunity was perfect to see you but he wanted more. He struggled to admit it to himself but he had a huge crush on you and the fact he couldn't read you and know what you were thinking was driving him crazy. He was getting tired of looking at you from afar, of hiding behind the flirty jokes, he wanted you.
You giggled and looked at him for a moment as you quickly examined his body for injuries. Or at least that's what you convinced yourself of. You were pretty good at hiding your feelings because to say that damn detective gave you goosebumps and set every cell in your body on fire was an understatement.
You sanitized your hands and put on a pair of clean gloves before approaching him, his eyes never leaving yours and just the way he looked at you made you shiver from head to toe and your knees tremble.
Focus Y/n, he’s a patient now.
“What did you do this time?” You asked and he rolled his eyes playfully.
“You're no fun dammit, always straight to the point.”
“You know me Halstead,” you replied. “So?”.
He shrugged nonchalantly. “Just a little cut while chasing a suspect, no big deal.”
Your gaze fell on his abdomen, at the level of his left side where you noticed a copious stain of blood. “Well let me be the judge since I’m the doctor. Lift your shirt up.”
His lips lifted into a mischievous grin and you rolled your eyes knowing where his mind had immediately gone. “If you want to undress me just say so Dr. Sunshine, there's no need for these excuses.”
He took off his shirt and you tried with every fiber of your being to try to maintain a composed and professional expression, trying not to look his abs and not to focus on the heat that was spreading through your body.
You swallowed the lump in your throat but you couldn't help but admire that Greek God laying in front of you. “You didn't need to take off your shirt Halstead.” You said in an amused tone before pulling up a chair and sitting next to the bed.
“Well, you know I'm a self-centered bastard,” he retorted and you rolled your eyes again as you began to examine the wound. “Plus I love the way you’re struggling not to jump on me right now.”
You flicked your gaze into his eyes, not responding but maintaining eye contact as he looked at you as if he wanted to undress you right then and there. The heat spreading through your body intensified and rose to your cheeks and you struggled to say anything because, damn, he was just telling the truth.
“J-just, let me do my job Halstead,” you murmured and cursed yourself for the way you stuttered. You looked away and back to his wound and he chuckled, probably aware of the effect it had on you.
You examined his wound. It was a stab wound and luckily it wasn't very deep so it only required a bit of disinfection and a couple of stitches. You took what you needed and sat next to Jay again, who continued to watch and examine your movements with meticulous attention.
“I'll numb the area so I can stitch you,” you said in a firm, professional tone of voice but refusing to look at him. You couldn't do it, not when his eyes were enough to make you a babbling mess.
You tried to maintain all the concentration you possessed, failing miserably as Jay was laying there in front of you with his shirt off.
You couldn't help but let your gaze travel down his abdomen, along his hips, the V-line disappearing into his boxers you so much wanted to trace with your tongue, the line of his underwear that slightly protruded from his pants.
He was so fucking hot and you were about to be burned.
Your breathing quickened even though you tried to keep yourself composed but this didn't escape Jay, who didn't take his eyes off you for even a second.
He carefully scanned your profile and features, the way your eyelids and eyelashes fluttered, the way your cheeks were flushed and he knew it was because of him, the way you were trying to avoid him even if you were attracted to him like a magnet.
“You're so beautiful Y/n, you know that?” he murmured before he could stop himself.
You almost dropped the pliers you were holding, taken aback by his words. You giggled, keeping your expression as neutral as possible even though that short and simple phrase had thrown you into a whirlwind of overwhelming emotions and sensations.
“And you know I’m your doctor right?”.
“Mmh just for now,” he replied “As soon as you're done you won't be anymore.”
“You're actually one of my most loyal patients.” You gave him an amused look, a smirk on your lips as you continued to stitch his wound. “Like I said, you're breaking every record so no, you can't make those comments it's very unethical of you.”
There was nothing ethical about Jay's sinful thoughts about you, but he didn't let them out at the time.
He laughed, never taking his eyes off you. “Since we see each other so often we’re more than just doctor/patient now, I’d say I have every right to tell you’re beautiful.”
“Stop it.” You gave him a fake disappointed look even if you were internally giggling like a little girl. “Am I hurting you? You feel anything?” You also asked but the smug expression on his face and the smirk on his lips had given you the answer you needed.
He shook his head. “Come to a date with me.”
Your heart started beating wildly, more than it already was since the first moment you say Jay laying on that bed. “Is this a question or an order?”.
“You want to tell me no?”.
“Jay, I need to focus.”
“That's not a no though, so I have some hope.”
You laughed, at the tenacity and cheekiness he was showing and to mask the nervousness you were feeling, God, you didn't know how long you could last before giving in.
After about ten minutes you finished suturing his wound and placed gauze over it, recommending him to disinfect it and change the gauze at least twice a day even though he did nothing but flirt with you.
You stood up and removed your gloves before throwing them into the bin along with the dirty gauze you had used earlier and disinfected your hands.
You glanced at Jay, noticing he had sat up in bed, still wonderfully bare-chested. For the second time you found yourself running your eyes over his frame, his broad shoulders, his muscular arms and toned chest.
That man oozed sex from every pore of his body and you no longer knew what to do to resist him.
“Why are you this far? I don't bite, you know.” He said with a wicked smile on his lips, not even trying to mask the way he was eye-fucking you.
You rolled your eyes for the thousand time and crossed your arms over your chest, remaining firm in your position even if with difficulty. You felt as if there was some kind of force pushing you towards him and as the minutes passed you were less and less able to fight it.
“Don't you have to go back to work?”.
“Not until you give me an answer.”
“About what?”.
“About the date.”
“You didn’t ask me though.”
“Well will come to a date with me?”.
You tried to suppress a chuckle but didn't answer, keep losing yourself in those two emeralds that were his eyes.
You didn't have to hesitate like that, you didn't even have to think about it. You were a doctor, he was your patient and there was nothing more immoral.
But then why didn't you say no? Why were you actually thinking about that?
Jay stood up and walked over you noticing your silence, standing a step away from you.
Still shirtless.
God please have some mercy on me.
You raised your head slightly so you could look in his eyes given your height difference, the words dying in your throat every time you tried to say something.
It was undeniable there was an attraction between you two that in one way or another always pushed you towards each other. It was undeniable that man made you feel things you hadn't felt in a long time.
You didn't know what he had done to you, what kind of witchcraft he had practiced on you since there had never even been anything between you. Sure, you flirted with him too, he shamelessly hit on you and sometimes you didn't even know if he was serious or just because of the way your relationship had turned, but you couldn't get him out of your mind.
“You're thinking about it, aren't you? I know you want it,” he whispered, lifting a hand and stroking your hair, moving a strand behind your ear as his eyes continued to admire and analyze every little feature of your face.
You let your arms drop to your sides, dumbfounded as his fingers caressed your skin so lightly his touch seemed unnoticeable. But you felt it all, you felt his touch in every corner of your body.
Your breathing quickened as your eyes alternated between his and his mouth, without even being able to stop yourself.
“We can't,” you whispered back.
“Why not? We both want it, I know it and you know it too.” He wet his lips with his tongue. “And the way you're looking at me now, fuck… I'm fighting every fiber of my body not to throw you on this bed and have my way with you. You can't deny it Y/n, you can’t deny what's going on between us.”
Before you knew it, your hands were resting on his chest, his skin hot under your fingers and his breathing visibly quickening under your touch. “And who tells me it's not just the thrill of conquest? That once I say yes you won't just disappear?”.
His hands cupped your face, his lips so close to yours they kept brushing each other. “I’m planning to do so many things to you that a lifetime won't be enough Y/n, you're not just a conquest. I want you.”
His thumb traced the outline of your bottom lip and your breath hitched, almost making you pass out at his feet.
God Jay what are you doing to me?
“You really think every time I'm here it's to see Will? Don't get me wrong, I love my brother but do you seriously think I'm here almost every day just to see him? Do you seriously think I would randomly find myself at Molly's every night whenever you're there? Do you think I’d let myself get stabbed just to have another excuse to come here and see you?”.
You pulled away from him, hitting him in the chest in disbelief. “Are you out of your goddamn mind?! I hope you're kidding.”
“Do you see me laughing? I'm not fucking kidding. I could’ve easily overpower that piece of shit but you got into my head so much that at that moment I just thought I had the perfect excuse to see you and be close to you. That's how fucking insane you make me Y/n. Please just give me a chance, I want you so bad,” he spoke, not caring about how desperate he sounded.
Now that he had said it out loud he realized how crazy he really was. But did he care? Absolutely not. He just wanted you to accept to go to that date.
“And it's not just wanting to have sex with you. I mean, God yes, you turn me one so much I would fuck you on every floor and surface of this hospital… But I want everything, I want to know every single part of you, the good and the bad, I want you to be mine, I want you to know me and I want to be yours.”
You sighed in frustration, the temperature of the room rising a degree with each passing second. How were you supposed to push him away?
“Tell me you don't want me and I'm leaving right now and you'll never hear from me again. Tell me you don't feel like this thing between us is consuming you too... Tell me,” he continued, brushing his nose with yours.
“You're so unprofessional Jay,” you whispered, trying so hard to fight the urge to give in but, fuck, you didn't think it would be this hard.
“Yeah so unprofessional. Now answer me.”
You sighed. “Jay I…”
“God you're so stubborn Dr. Sunshine, you really want to torture me until the end? Have mercy on me at least now that I'm… Shit,” he stopped, holding his side where he had been stabbed and letting out a cry of pain.
“Jay! Hey, what's going on? Talk to me please.”
“Fuck it hurts.”
“Here, let me help you. Sit down so I can take another look at you. Everything will be fine.”
You helped him sit on the edge of the bed, worried and thinking of every possible scenario imaginable like an internal bleeding.
But when he instead surrounded your hips under your white coat and pulled you towards him, making you settle between his legs, you understood that asshole was just faking it.
“You piece of shit! You've got me worried sick!” You exclaimed, hitting his shoulder harder this time. You tried to pull away from him but his grip was too tight around your waist.
He laughed, a cocky look on his face that only made you want to punch him. “Look at you so worried about me. Just as I thought.”
“You thought about what? That you’re an asshole?”.
“Yes I am,” he replied amused, “But also that all this facade you want to put up, all this resistance is fake. That you want me as much as I want you, so why do you keep fighting it so much?”.
“Because it’s unprofessional, I'm a doctor and you're my patient. We can't.”
“Of course we can.” His hands tightened around your waist, moving up your hips, distracting you and making you forget what you even wanted to say. “Like I said. Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t want me.”
You didn't answer, again.
You just looked at him and melted under his touch.
You didn't know what happened, it was like a switch had been turned on inside you.
All your rational thoughts and abilities left your mind as you grabbed his face and crashed your lips onto his.
You didn't want to resist anymore, especially since you weren’t strong enough. Let's be honest, it was a battle you already lost from the start.
You didn't want to live in fear of what might happen, hide behind the hypocrisy of 'unprofessionalism' because the truth was that you wanted that man more than anyone you had ever met in your life. The truth was, you couldn't look him in the eyes and tell him you didn't want him when just hearing his name made your heart beat wildly and your body lit up on fire.
Jay kissed you back, not even being able to explain how ardently and for how long he wanted that moment.
You parted your lips slightly and he immediately took the opportunity to slip his tongue in your mouth, deepening the kiss which was becoming more and more passionate, borderline pornographic.
His hands rested on your stomach and moved up your abdomen, grazing your breasts before settling on your shoulders. He hesitated and you nodded during the kiss, giving him permission to take off your white coat which fell to the floor next to your feet.
His hands then trailed down back to your ass which he squeezed and groped without any shame as you threaded your fingers through his hair, sighing into his mouth at the sensation.
If at first there was a thread of doubt that left you perplexed, after finally feeling his lips against yours, their taste, you knew there would never be a return from that point. You were deeply and inexorably lost for Jay Halstead.
Your heart was pounding as your body continued to press against his, as if you were both trying to suck out each other's souls.
You bit his lower lip and a small moan escaped him which immediately made you press your legs to each other, your insides twist and goosebumps on your skin. He slapped your ass in response, a gesture that turned you on more than you would ever admit.
“Fuck,” you whimpered, pulling him towards you.
“I'll take this as a yes?” He whispered the moment you both broke apart panting as you tried to catch your breath.
He slid his hands down your back, up your ass, your thighs, touching and caressing every inch of your body he could reach.
“What do you think?” You replied, one eyebrow raised.
“I can't even think right now to be honest, all the blood has rushed to my dick. It actually hurts a little, can you kiss it better?”.
“You’d really love it wouldn’t you?”.
“Oh you have no idea how many times I’ve imagined you kissing me better, especially my dick. This mouth of yours is haunting me princess.”
You chuckled – not mentioning how bad you wanted to do it – and he smiled back, feeling lighter, happier.
“Is tomorrow night okay?”.
“Tomorrow night? Are you kidding me? You really think I can last until tomorrow especially after you kissed me like that? No, there’s no chance. I want to see you tonight.”
“Oh Halstead, remember that patience is the virtue of the strong,” You smirked at him, caressing his shoulders. “See you tomorrow night detective.”
You gave him one last sweet kiss on the lips and picked up your white coat from the floor, then straightening out your wrinkled uniform. You winked at him before exiting the room, leaving him sitting on the edge of that bed with an erection in his pants he knew he’d struggle to keep at bay for the next twenty-four hours.

Exciting ||Jay Halstead x Daughter and reader
Jay has to take his daughter to work for the first time and he’s not excited about it.
For the one that voted Jay x daughter on the poll (this is not a Christmas story though)
Jay wasn’t comfortable with the idea of taking his 4 years old daughter to work, but seemed like luck was not on his side. The girl was on vacation, Y/N was on a work trip, the nanny got sick, Will was on shift and the little girl’s grandparent’s couldn’t take care of her all day long, so he had no choice. He called Voight, who with his raspy voice and without any problem said “Bring her.”
He sighed, “Ok, baby girl. You are coming to work with me today” He notified his little daughter who was sitting with her short legs hanging from the couch.
“To the police station?” Her eyes were shining bright out of excitement.
“Yea”, her dad chuckled. “Mommy will pick you up later, when she comes back home from her trip, ok?”
“Okay. I am excited!” Excited was the last feeling she learned in school and from then on she would use it for everything.
“I am excited too”, he lied, he was more nervous than anything. “Go get your backpack”, he ordered and when she was gone he muttered to himself, “I’m already running late”
It wasn’t common to take one’s son or daughter to the bullpen, but is wasn’t so strange either. Voight and Al had done it in the past with their kids; Burgess and Adam had done it with Malayla too, even Kevin had to take his little sister from time to time. This was the family Hank talked about.
Jay went upstairs with a small pink and shinny backpack with unicorn form on his arm, making a funny contrast with the gun hanging from his hips.
“Where’s the baby girl?” Adam said when he saw his friend arriving alone.
“Platt stole her from me”, he answered. He would have arrived even later if he had waited for Trudy to give her back to him. Kim smiled at the image.
“We haven’t seen her in a while”, Al peeked his head from his hidden desk to participate in the conversation, “A bit of her cheerfulness will do good to this place”
“Well, she is, and I’m quoting, “very excited” to see you all”, the proud dad smirked.
But as much excited as she was, the baby Halstead was very shy to even say good morning to them. As soon as Trudy Platt carried her upstairs, the girl ran towards her father as fast as she could.
“Why are you crying?” Jay asked in a very low voice, while sitting her on his lap.
But the one answering the question was Platt, “She started to worry when she noticed you weren’t around downstairs and then silently started crying”
Ashamed, the little Halstead girl hugged her dad’s neck and buried her face on his shoulder. A chorous of “aw” was heard around. This wasn’t what she expected, visiting the police station didn’t make her feel excited after all.
“It’s alright”, Jay kept whispering into her ear. It was only after a few minutes later that she calmed down, but even when she was acting as if nothing had happened, she was still embarrased.
Al passed by from the coffee room to his desk and handed a coockie to the girl. She hesitated on accepting it, she first turned to her dad who nodded in approval and she stretched her tiny arm to take it.
“Precauted girl. Good”, Olinsky smiled at her and she smiled back.
“Why don’t you take your colors and get to work in your coloring book, hm?” Jay said more like an order as he put her down. He couldn’t really advance in his work if she was there right beside him.
They walked to an unoccupied desk right infront of Adam. The girl climbed the chair as her dad took her belongings out of the unicorn backpack, “There you go. I’ll be right there if you need me. Remember to…”
“…be quiet, shhh” his daughter completed.
She stayed there for a while, coloring different pages. The detectives, specially Kim, would praise her artistic work whenever they had to walk by her side. She liked Kim, that woman was funny, but she couldn’t really take her eyes off of the man who had gave her the cookie: Alvin Olinsky, but he was too busy to noticed.
“Daddy”, she silently stood up an whispered, trying not to distract the people around, “I don’t want to color anymore. I want to draw”
“Uh, let me check if I have something for you to—“
“I have some white sheets in here”, Hailey opened a drawer and handed a bunch to the Halstead girl. She liked Hailey too, she had a bright smile.
“How do you say?” Her father encouraged her before going back to her place.
“Thank you, Hailssss”
She was immersed in her own world, drawing, coloring and cutting. She stood up to get closer to Adam and touched his leg to call his attention.
“How do you write ‘I love you’?” She asked the detective.
“Oh!” He took a notebook and a pen, “Very easy, let me just show you”
Jay looked up to witness the scene, altough he couldn’t hear any word they were exchanching, “Hey, sweetie”, he called out, “Let Ruz work, ok?”
“No big deal” His collegue said handing her the sheet.
A few minutes later, the little girl stood up once more to go with her father. She stretched her hand to hand him a very colorful circle of paper.
“Wow! Is this for me?” Jay exxagerated his emotion, and then melted when he read the phrase ‘I love you’ followed by a crooked heart.
With excitement, she explained it was a cup holder: “Yea, you can put your mug there”. Following orders from such a smooth voice, Jay placed his mug over the gift.
“Just what I needed” He kissed her head. When she withdrew of his side, Jay immediatly took the paper with the witten phrase and placed it in a spot where he was able to see it all the time.
Before going back to sit on her chair, the girl passed by Al’s desk and stood next to him staring, until he finally noticed.
She took him by surprise, a cute surprise, “Hey, you scared me!” That made her laugh.
“What do you like the most?” The kid asked wothout any other introduction, “Ducks or unicorns?”
Detective Olinsky took his time to answer the question. He observed that Halstead’s daughter was wearing a T-shirt full of unicorns, her pink shinny backback also had the shape of a unicorn, so he went by that, thinking it would be the correct answer.
“Unicorns, I love unicorns”
But she didn’t had the reaction he expected, instead she sadenned, “Oh! I was going to draw a duck for you”
Being in a space close to Olinsky, and paying attention to what his daughter was doing all the time, Jay listened and couldn’t help to smile to the reaction of his parter.
“Oh, well, I love ducks too!” Alvin tried to amend his error.
“A duck, then?”
“Yea, a duck!”
And she moved her tiny legs as fast as she could. Both detectives shared a look and laughed.
It didn’t pass a lot of time when the girl was next to Olinsky’s chair again, but this time he noticed. Without speaking, she handed to him the drawing of a duck happily swimming in a lake.
“What? Is this for me?” She nodded. There was something peaceful in his voice that she liked. “Thank you very much! I really love it. What’s this?” He pointed to a brown circle tha was close to the animal. The answer make him smile showing his teeth.
“A cookie”
“Well, this masterpiece deserves to be in a special place” The detective took a bit of tape and pasted the drawing where it could be seen by everyone.
Little Halstead ran to his father to tell him what just had happened.
“That’s not fair!” Adam teased her later on the day. “I want my own drawing too! I showed you how to write that phrase, you gotta remember that!”
“It will have to be another day”, Jay intervened. “Time to pick everything up, your mom’s on her way to pick you up”
“Mommy’s back?” She asked with the same bright eyes she had when realizing she was going to the police station.
“Yeah!” Her dad smirked.
“I am excited!” She stated while putting her stuff back into the backpack.
“Say goodbye, time to go. Mommy’s downstairs”
She waved her little hand to everybody in the bullpen, “Bye bye”. She even peeked her head into Voight’s office, “Goodbye, Serge”
“You are leaving already? Goodbye, little one” Hank said in a very friendly tone, “Come back soon, whenever you want”
She laughed at the idea, “I will”
It was a bit hard for her to walk down the stairs. “Do you need help?” Jay asked with his arms opened to carry her and she jumped to him.
As soon as she spotted Y/N at the desk with Trudy she yelled at her. Jay put her down on the floor when the stairs were over and his baby ran towards her mom, who picked her up in a tight hug.
“Mommy!”
“Ugh, how much I missed you” Y/N said covering their daughter in kisses.
“Me too!”
“Did the detectives threated you good?” Trudy asked, “How was your day at daddy’s work, hm?”
Wothout hesitating and with a lot of emotion, the girl answered “Oh! It was exciting!”

This case had been difficult for the team, Jay getting hit his hardest with his dad being one of the victims on the fire. The longer the chase for the arsonist, the more you could see him spiraling. You expected it, all things considered. Jay may have said they didn’t have the best relationship, but it was still his father. What you didn’t expect was for Jay to disobey a direct order from Voight and go after the suspect on his own.
After you took his truck and two way, you thought he would be safe, far away from the action. So when you heard his call come in over the radio, your heart sank to your stomach.
“This is 5021 George. Emergency. Shots fired. Offender down, need an ambo. Lower Wacker and Columbus.”
As soon as you heard his location, you took off running, Kevin close behind. Rounding the corner, you saw Jay unmoving on the pavement, his side covered in blood.
“5021 Victor. Officer down. I repeat, officer down. Lower Wacker and Columbus. Get us an ambulance!” You rushed to Jay’s side, leaving Kevin to take care of the offender.
You tried to stay calm as you ripped open his shirt, panic threatening to override your training. You could see he was bleeding from his side, but you couldn’t tell what the damage was from the other bullets.
“Jay? Hey, talk to me.” Your voice wavered.
Jay was breathing heavily, looking at you with wide eyes. You pulled his vest away from his body, feeling under it for the bullet.
“It didn’t go through. It didn’t go through.” You pressed on the wound at his side with shaky hands. “You’re gonna be okay. It’s okay. Just breathe.”
-
You watched intently as the paramedics patched up Jay in the back of the ambulance. There were officers all around you, blocking off the scene and questioning the other members of the team, but you tuned it all out.
Once the paramedics were done treating him and he had gotten a thorough scolding from Voight, you made your way over.
“Hey.” You took a seat next to him. “You gonna be okay?”
Jay looked at you sheepishly. “Yeah, I’m okay. No serious damage, just a few stitches and some major bruising.”
“Good.”
“I’m really sorry, Y/N. I just couldn’t stop myself.” He said quietly.
You nodded lightly, giving him a small smile and patting his leg gently. “I know.”
The paramedic came back over and you used the interruption to excuse yourself. You could feel the aftermath of the situation setting in and you needed to get away from the scene.
You heard footsteps behind you and Kevin appeared at your side. “Hey, you okay?”
“Yep, I’m good. I’m fine.” You replied, unable to keep the emotion out of your voice.
Kevin put a hand on your arm, slowing you down and turning you towards him. “Woah, woah.” You couldn’t stop the tears from welling up in your eyes as you met his gaze. “Yeah, that’s the adrenaline wearing off. It’s okay.”
“I thought he was dead.” You choked out the words.
Kevin put his arm around your shoulder, pulling you close. “So did I.”
As the two of you made it back to the cars, he brought you in for a hug. You gripped his shirt tightly, embarrassed by your crying, but soaking in the comfort after the emotions of the past hour. You knew out of anyone, Kevin would never judge you for being human.
“I gotcha.” He rubbed your back comfortingly. “C’mon, Sarge said we’re done for the day. Jay’s in good hands. I’ll drive you home.”
You spared one last glance back towards Jay as you got into the car, only to find him looking right at you, his face etched with concern.

“You smell real good, love" They say while nuzzling their nose in your shoulder and you start to laugh because it tickles so much but they won't stop doing that to make you all giggly”
Being with Jay was nice. It was safe. It was cozy. You felt truly loved. And every night you were reminded of how much you loved him. Sure he’d come home late sometimes but you were always there to accept him into bed with open arms.
And days where he wasn’t working, he would find you at some point throughout the day and shower you with his love and affection.
You were laying in bed, tired from the extra work you had put into your job yesterday, just trying to get your back to rest up a smidge.
Jay was on his side, eyes closed from the nap he’d been taking for a bit, and you sighed, deciding to flip onto your side and maybe catch some sleep too.
As soon as you rolled over, Jay looped his arm around you, pulling you to his chest. His breath tickled your neck as he hummed, “You smell really good baby,” He murmured, rubbing his face into your shoulder.
A laugh left your lips as his breath tickled across your skin. “Stop-“ You managed through a giggle, attempting to cover your neck with your shoulder.
He chuckled softly, nuzzling his face further into your neck, peppering kisses along with them,”Mmm, no,” Jay muttered, too distracted by the beauty of your laugh to stop himself.
“Jayy,” You dragged his name out, moving a hand to the side of his face to push him back, rolling over to face him with a wide smile still on your face. “Enough,” You added, firmly but with no actual malice or annoyance behind your words.
Jay popped his bottom lip out, sending you big green puppy eyes with the pout. Lightly you leaned down, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. “That’s for you to promise you won’t tickle me again.”
“I make no promises.”

kidnapped | jay halstead imagine
Tumblr media
authors note : takes place in season 3 episode 1
warnings: medical trauma, pregnancy, kidnapping
You were currently on bed rest from work as you were 6 months pregnant with your first baby. Voight had decided to put you on “time out” from work even just at the desk, answering calls. Your pregnancy was considered high risk and no one was messing around. Your job was stressful considering the different situations you all had been put in.
Jay was especially worried about you. He had asked you to marry him just before you found out you were pregnant. So your days consisted of wedding planning and texting Kim, Trudy, and even Al to try as see what was happening  in the unit because Jay wouldn’t tell you anything.
The doorbell rang so you went to walk to the door. Your stomach dropped when you saw it was Voight. He had a strict no contact policy with you these last months of pregnancy but the rule was you only would call him when you went into labor and he would only call you if something bad had happened. And now he was in person.
You opened the door immediately, “What happened?”
He sighed and walked in, “Jay’s been taken. By Derek Keyes, a heroin kingpin.”
Your knees began to buckle as he spoke. Hank reached out and grabbed your elbows to stop you from hitting the ground.
“We’ll get him back, sweetheart. But you have to come into protective custody.”
All you could do was nod as he helped you to the car. You were numb, not knowing how to feel. Jay was the love of your life and soon to be father of your child.
While driving, Voight filled you in on the details on how he had been in contact with Derek Keyes and that Jay was still alive, which was the main thing. There was a negotiation being made but they didn’t want to tell you the details.
Hank escorted you all the way to the bullpen, but was going on a drive. You honestly didn’t question it. You were sitting at Jay’s desk instead of your own while Al made a phone call, “I know you’re on the outs, but I figured you’d want to know. Jay’s been kidnapped.” There was a pause, “Yeah she’s here but… yeah yeah… she’s on bed rest.”
You looked over to him and he gave you a soft smile as he hung up, “We’re gonna get him back, sweetheart.“ He put his hand on your shoulder and squeezed gently.
They had told you that the drop was set for 9am the next morning which meant more waiting.
All you could do was just sit at the desk and try to hold your tears in.
Finally, around 8am, Voight came back asking about the CI files that were for the exchange. He then asked for Burgess to do the drop as Keyes wanted a female but Adam protested.
“I’ll do it.” Lindsay’s voice echoed from the stairs. Your head turned towards her.
Voight began to argue with her but Erin shot right back, “This isn’t about me. It’s about getting Jay back to his family.”
She glanced your way and offered a small smile. She brushed her hand on your back as she walked towards Voight’s office.
After that, things were a blur. With Erin getting ready to make the drop and your overwhelming worry for Jay, you were a wreck. Erin was going to the drop while Burgess and Roman stayed with you.
When everyone finally left, you broke. You were sobbing so hard you couldn’t breathe. Kim just wrapped her arms around you and held you.
Suddenly, you felt a stabbing pain and you gasped out. “What is it? What is it?” Kim asked, looking you up and down.
You felt something dripping between your legs thinking your water had broke so you looked down and gasped when you saw it was bright red.
“Roman call an ambo.” Kim ordered as she pushed your hair back, “It’s gonna be okay. You’re gonna be okay.”
“Call Will.” You gasped out. It only took moments after that for you to start losing consciousness.
The next thing you heard was Kim trying to rouse you and the paramedics saying all different medical terms.
“Jay,” You groaned out, not remembering that he had been taken.
The gurney was being wheeled out and you into the trauma bay. You were completely unconscious.
“Patient is unconscious. Suspected from blood loss. Heavy bleeding still happening. BP skyrocketing.” The paramedic spouted out.
When your gurney was parked and you had been moved to the bed, Will came running in, “Status?”
“Dr. Halstead, we need you to get out of the room.” A nurse said softly.
“No! What is the status?” Will argued.
The doctor working on you began to preform an ultrasound, “Potential partial placental abruption. We either need to deliver this baby or get control of the bleeding.”
“You can’t deliver her. She’s only 6 months.” Will said, finally going to your side and giving room to the doctors.
Before the doctor could answer, Burgess came running back in, “They found him. He’s alive. He’s on his way here in an ambo.”
Will sighed with relief, “Start with a blood transfusion, betamethasone and dexamethasone.”
The next thing you knew, you were waking up in a hospital bed. You looked around to see Jay sitting in the chair next to you, holding your hand.
“Hey,” You whispered.
Jay sat right up and squeezed your hand. He looked awful, “Hey sweetheart. You and the baby are both fine.” He smoothed your hair back.
“You look like you should be in a bed too,” You smiled lightly.
“Technically I am. Right next to you.” He grinned.
You looked over and saw an empty bed. You shook your head at him, “Always the rebel, huh?”
He stood up and kissed your forehead, “I love you so much.”
“I love you.” You leaned against him.
“Hey, look who’s awake.” It was Will talking, he walked in smiling. “You had a partial placental abruption. Most likely due to stress. We gave you some medicine to help develop to baby’s lungs and brain develop in case we had to deliver him early.”
“It’s a boy?” You smiled, tears slipping down your cheeks. The two of you had been waiting to find out the sex of the baby.
“It’s a boy.” Will smiled. “Sorry for ruining the surprise.”
Jay smiled and hugged Will, “Doesn’t matter. You kept her safe and my little boy inside so he can keep growing.”
“Also, I hate to say it, but, you’re going to have to spend the rest of your pregnancy in the hospital. It’s too much of a risk to have you go home.” Will said.
You nodded and put your hand on your stomach, “Whatever it takes to keep me and my boys safe.” You looked at Jay and smiled.

Are you free Saturday? I know a spot
Those two texts come in rapid succession as you finish cleaning the store up. You’d usually try to avoid checking your phone so often in front of your manager, but by this time you were usually the only one left.
What did you have in mind?
You erase the message in-between organizing the new book shipment.
Saturday? That’s a little too close for me.
You erase that message while balancing the books for that day.
By the time you lock up the store and head home, you had thought up a couple million ways to respond before erasing them. Putting your key in the lock and you finally respond with a simple Yes.
Your next thought was right before you slid into bed for the night. Where the hell is your dress?
Specifically, your little black one that showed off all of your curves. The one that was probably lonely from being unused for so many years.
Having split from your husband over a year ago and trying to start fresh back in Chicago, you were worrying yourself into a spiral. You hadn’t been on a date since you were 22 and you were feeling out of place, getting back into the dating scene at 29.
You and your ex had grown apart from the moment your marriage started. You had done everything you could to keep everything together. You—being the one who made more money—had bought a big house. One that had room for you two to grow a family and have a backyard for a dog. It felt right at the time, maybe it would be enough so the walls didn’t seem like they were closing in.
You and your ex had been fine. But that’s all you were…fine. You finally convinced him to do therapy with you and, unfortunately, the final straw for you was when you realized that he loved you more at 23, then at 27.
You had filed for divorce not long after that. He claimed he hadn’t seen it coming, and fought you for the house. You gave into it, wanting him to just sign the papers and be done with it. In the end, when you signed your lease back in your home city of Chicago you finally checked the box “divorced.”
It had been quite the change, getting used to being back in the city. You contacted one of your oldest friends, Kelly Severide, to hang out and catch up.
It was at one of those meet ups that you met Kelly’s girlfriend, Stella Kidd, and the two of you hit it off instantly.
Now a year later, Stella and Kelly were getting ready to get married, and you voiced your thoughts to them about dating again. Stella said that she had a friend who was your type.
You had no idea what that meant, but after a few failed attempts at signing up for one of those awful dating apps, you gave Stella permission for her to give her friend your number.
The day after the first two texts were sent, he texted you again saying: Great! I’ll pick you up at 7.
You remembered at 22 being a little more cautious about a man picking you up for a date, but you trusted Kelly and Stella so you tried trusting this guy too.
It was hard, everything you’ve ever known about dating, relationships, and love had been ruined with the breakdown of your marriage. Now you wished it wasn’t affecting your thoughts this long after.
So is it any wonder that it’s 6:52 on Saturday and you’re trying to reassure yourself by saying you got this during your last looks in the mirror.
“You’ll be fine,” Kelly was saying over the speakerphone as you contemplated taking a shot to calm your nerves, “Do you think we don’t have your best interest at heart?”
“Kelly,” you say plainly, “It’s been years since I’ve been on a date. I’m gonna look so stupid stumbling over myself and what if he brings up my marriage? You told him about that right? How do I fucking do this? Is it wrong if I take a shot of something?”
“Stella,” you hear Kelly call from his end, obviously feeling like he needed backup, “she’s freaking out.”
“Yes I am.” You almost growl in confirmation, “I blame you both for this. What was I thinking?”
“Relax, girl,” Stella’s voice says over the line in a reassuring tone, “I got you. Look, I’ve known Jay for a while okay, and I’m sure you’ll charm the socks off of him.”
“Oh god,” you say, slapping a hand to your forehead almost dramatically, “I know he’s too good to be true. What have you done, Stella.”
“Breathe, Y/N,” Kelly says, his voice clear and unyielding.
There was a knock on the door. You jump slightly, looking up at the clock on the stove. 7:00 on the dot.
You curse, telling Kelly and Stella that he was there. They told you to have fun and they’ll call you later for details before immediately hanging up on you.
Cursing your friends once more, you open the door, and your breath lapses. You were going to kill Stella for understating his looks by saying he was “good-looking”.
He was much more than good-looking. He was gorgeous. His dark hair was cut evenly. His eyes were a mix of blue and green and freckles littered across his features. He was dressed for a date, his outfit lining the structures of his body. You feel slightly better about choosing your black dress for this, you may even want to wake up tomorrow with it on a floor that isn’t yours.
I’m ready, you tell yourself in your head.
And for the first time since this whole thing started, you believe it.

Flowers - Jay Halstead x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Pairing : Jay Halstead x Fem!Reader
Prompt : “This is actually the first time I’ve received flowers…”
Summary : You decide to surprise your boyfriend with some flowers for his birthday.
Warnings : none I think?
A/n : sorry for any mistakes, this is my first time writing for Jay but I honestly love how cute this turned out 😁
You had decided that you wanted to surprise Jay with some flowers, since you thought it would be a cute and nice gesture.
You had just spent the last few days in New York, which made you feel awful since you knew that his birthday was coming soon and you didn’t want to miss it.
As soon as you got the green light to be able to head back to Chicago, you booked a flight as soon as possible. But you didn’t tell Jay anything. And after discussing it with his coworkers and Voight. You decided to surprise him by cooking his favourite meal and getting him some small gifts and flowers. Everyone agreed it was a great idea and that Jay would love it for sure.
After landing safely back home, you started to get everything ready before Jay could get home, since it was supposed to be a surprise. You just hoped he wouldn’t figure it out, since that would ruin the surprise.
Jay felt like something was off, since he tried to text and call you. But you weren’t picking up at all. He started to get really worried, so as soon as his work hours ended, Jay ran out of the district so fast that he nearly fell down a few times. He tried calling your number a few times, but every single time it went straight to voicemail.
Driving to your shared apartment, his heart was pounding. But seeing your car parked in your designated spot. He started to get confused, you were supposed to still be in New York?
While you were adding the finishing touches to the meal and checking your outfit, Jay was running up the stairs trying to find his keys.
Stopping in front of the door he sighed, he had completely forgotten about his keys and left them in his truck. But before he could turn around to run back down to his truck, the front door opened revealing you.
Smiling at him softly, you said “Happy early birthday my love.” Jay looked so shocked but after a few seconds he smiled so widely pulling you in for a short but sweet kiss. “I missed you so much Y/n. I’m so happy you're finally home.” Jay said, pulling away softly before leaning in to place a few more kisses on your lips. “Me too.” You laughed, tracing his cheeks with your finger. “Have I told you how beautiful you are?” He asked pulling you in for an even tighter hug. “Yes, you have. But it’s always nice to hear it.” You laughed softly, he was so adorable.
“Now c’mon. I made dinner! I don’t know if you will even like it but-” Jay cut you off by kissing you. “I’m sure it’s amazing sweetheart. Just like you.” He winked at you. You just laughed at him, tugging him by the arm towards the kitchen where you had set up a small table with a candle and champagne.
Jay’s eyes widened a bit, you had gone all out. But it made him even happier, Jay knew that you were the one for him. He even planned on asking you to marry him someday. Jay saw a future with you.
Seeing the food on the table, he immediately started to feel hungry. Jay hadn’t eaten much today, since the unit had a high priority case so he was working a lot and barely had the time to eat a proper meal.
“Can I help with anything honey?” He asked, hugging you from behind and placing his chin on your shoulder. “Maybe you could open the champagne? I think I already have everything ready, just a few last things I need to add.” You smiled looking at him. Jay looked so happy and relaxed, his green eyes were sparkling. Which made him look even cuter with his cheek dimples.
After he had opened the champagne, you realised you had forgotten something.
“Oh! One more thing before I forget!” You said quickly walking back to the hallway. Jay’s face filled with confusion, but that confusion turned into shock when he saw you walk in with a bouquet of a dozen red roses.
“These are for you. I figured I would buy these for you when I was walking by a flower shop in the airport. They symbolise love, faithfulness and loyalty.” You smiled at him. His cheeks immediately went red. “Y/n…I-I don’t know what to say. These are beautiful. Thank you so much.” Jay had tears in his eyes, he never felt so loved and cared for as he did right now. “I hope you like them.” You said handing him the flowers. “This is actually the first time I’ve received flowers…” Jay chuckled sadly, wiping a small tear from his cheek. Without saying anything you simply pulled him into a hug saying “I will definitely be getting you more flowers in the future then.” You said walking over closer and wiping his cheeks softly before kissing him. “I love you so so much Y/n.” He whispered, looking you straight into the eyes. “And I love you even more Jay.” You pulled him in for another kiss.
After the amazing meal, you and Jay curled up on the sofa catching up on the episodes of your favourite show. Looking over at him you smiled, he was definitely the one for you.

Helpless
Jay Halstead X Wife!Reader Warnings: None? Similar to how Hailey was when Jay left Word Count: 741
You were praying the pain in your heart would stop. That all the hurt you had been through was just a horrible nightmare. But it wasn’t. It was your reality, and you couldn’t just leave it. Piece by piece you could feel yourself shutting down, your walls building high. And for the first Jay wasn’t there to put you back together.
The case you were working on kept getting worse and worse. Following lead after lead, looking into case after case trying to see if there was anything that could get you any closer to solving and closing the case. This was the first case after Jay left, and they could tell you needed him.
Hailey was the first to realize you were struggling. Offering you someone to talk to, but you didn't want to put anymore onto her. Torres was next, not ging you a choice but to talk. He got you a coffee when you were out chasing leads, and you broke down when he asked if you were okay. He told you that it was okay and he was there if you needed him. Kevin and Kim followed soon after that, then Adam. All trying to offer support. Hank and Trudy tried convincing you to sit this one out, but you couldn't. This was your job, and you needed to do it. You also needed the distraction.
But no matter how hard you tried the loneliness crept in whenever you were alone. His absence in your bed, the one you shared. The smell of his cologne fading from your apartment. Your ring only a reminder that he wasn't there with you. Everything was different without him. Every routine changed.  It was like you were back before you and Jay got together. Except this time he was still yours. You hoped at least.
You hadn’t heard from him since he left. No phone call, or letter. It was radio silence. You knew contact would be scarce, but this felt like overkill. You missed your husband but there was nothing you could do to bring him back.
~
After weeks Intelligence was able to solve the case. You had the next few days off. You stayed in bed sobbing. Finally able to fall apart. You were allowed to be upset, but it felt like you should be happy. Happy Jay was doing something good. But you hated it.  Why didn’t he talk to you? Tell you what he was going through? That he was going back into the military? He felt hurt when Mouse reenlisted, why would he keep that from you? You would have supported him, you just wanted him to tell you what he was going through.
After spending all day in bed crying your throat was raw from the sobs. You made your easy to the kitchen, grabbing whiskey. And while it wouldn't soothe the pain in your throat, it would help distract you, even for a short time. It burned going down, but the burn preoccupied your brain for a minute.
You didn’t have a lot, just enough for a light buzz. Deciding that you needed to try calling Jay you grabbed your phone. You knew he wouldn't pick up the phone, and that your buzz was pushing you to do this. But you did it anyway.
The phone rang until you got his voicemail.
“Hey it's Jay, I missed your call but leave a message and I’ll call you back”
Your voice cracked as you began to speak. “Hey, Jay…It's me. I miss you. I know you are probably busy, but I wish I could hear your voice.” your voice cracked more as you spoke. Tears started falling as you continued. “I’m not doing great with you gone. I keep expecting to wake up and you be next to me in bed. That when I walk upstairs at the station you will be talking to the team from behind your desk. But every day I wake up and that doesn't happen.” You whipped the tears that were falling from your eyes.
“It shouldn't be this hard. I miss you and my world has gone dark without your light. I wish you would come home. But I know that’s not fair to ask, or say. But I need you. I love you, Jay. I wish you would talk to me. Goodbye.” You ended the voicemail and started to sob. Hoping he would come back to you soon.

Prompt 99 'Let's have a baby'
A/N: It took me a minute to write this but here you go! Hope you like it as much I do. Posting this as a sort of celebration of the new seasons.
*****
You came home with such an emotion painted on your face that it brought a smile to Jay's face despite the horrible day he had. There might've been casualties today but with you walking in with the biggest smile on your face, your dimple shining so much he was blinded, you could turn over any day.
"Look at you." Jay smirked, putting his beer down on the coffee table and coming towards you, waiting for you to finish putting everything away before leaning down and kissing you, feeling your smile against his lips.
"What's with the smile?" Your husband asked, letting you drag him back to the sofa, sitting very comfortably on his lap which he did not object to.
You had to stop yourself from getting lost in his eyes, your hands cupping his jaw, not bothered with the prickly feeling his stubble brought.
"Let's have a baby."
You said very seriously, your smile dropping in your seriousness as you watched him closely for any type of reaction. The two of you had been married for nearly two years now and yes, you'd have the occasional talk about children but after the wonder-filled day you had as a paediatric nurse, you finally caved.
"Baby." Jay said under his breath, forcing you to pinch him to make sure this was definitely real life and not a dream. "Don't lie, it's not funny."
Your soft smile and hands on his face were what made Jay realise that this was real, the biggest smile breaking out as he chuckled.
"I thought you'd never ask." He pulled you into his embrace, your head falling into his neck, arms going around his chest while his went around your back, pressing multiple kisses into your hair.
Stifling your giggles against his lips, you continued to kiss him, quick, short pecks and long, passionate ones which was the cause of the two of you moving to the bedroom.
*****
You thought nothing of your dizziness and sudden vomiting episode you had, blaming it all on the fact that it was flu season and you worked with kids who had no care for sanitation.
However, you did start putting some thought into it when you struggled staying on your feet, stumbling when you tried to get out your chair and walk towards a room to do your job.
It was purely coincidence that Will had a patient he moved from the ED up to the PICU, having just so been in the area when he witnessed you stumble in the corner of his eyes.
In a literal split second, Will was by your side, holding you up when your feet struggled to hold up your body weight. "Woah Y/N, you okay?"
Overly cautious and worried for his sister-in-law, Will watched your every move, waiting for something good or bad to happen or waiting for you to get your bearings together; he wasn't too sure.
"I- I'm okay." You slowly nodded, trying to blink the blurriness away and bring back your normal sight but failed. With how very poorly you were feeling, a heavy weight pushing down on your chest, you knew you weren't going to walk away from this alright. "Will, Will I'm gonna-"
Before you could properly warn him, you collapsed into your brother-in-law's arms, dropping like you were nothing but a rag doll.
"Get me a gurney!"
*****
Waking up in a bed you couldn't familiarise yourself with was daunting and had it not been for the ring on the hand holding yours, you definitely would've tried to escape.
Hearing you groan, Jay's eyes snapped up to yours, sighing in relief when he saw you blinking in confusion. "Oh thank goodness."
"What happened?" You asked, still groggy from fainting. You eyed the needle in your hand, following the clear tube up to the IV bag hanging besides your bed.
"You fainted." Jay replied. Despite his endless hounding at his brother for answers, Will kept it short and promised that he would tell him everything once you regained consciousness.
"In the middle of the work?" You groaned, digging your palms into your eye sockets. Everyone was going to be like guard dogs around you for the next few days, even if you repeatedly reassured them you were completely fine.
Before Jay could reply with anything remotely snarky or sarcastic, Will knocked on the treatment room door frame, smiling at your conscious self, you were looking much better than you were back in the PICU where you looked near dead in his arms.
"Welcome back." Will smirked, glancing down at his ipad with information from your bloodwork and all the tests they did on you. He both ordered and read them hours ago, the only people knowing what it said was himself and Maggie.
Clutching your husbands hand, your tried to not dig your nails into his palm. "What is it?"
"Well... It's not an it." Will bit back a smile, putting down the ipad on the bottom of the bed that your feet didn't reach, thanking the nurse for preparing the ultrasound for him.
"Your blood tests showed elevated levels of HCG." He looked at the two of you, gauging your reactions which were very different, your eyes wide as you realised what he meant while Jay glanced between you two in confusion.
"Will, I don't-" Jay cut himself off when the nurse turned on the ultrasound, Will warning you of the cold, quickly applying gel and bringing the wand to your stomach.
It was too early to hear a heartbeat but you could clearly see a little blob sitting in a clear sack. The little blob was yours and Jay's and it was in your stomach where it would be for a long but short time of 9 months.
With tears in your eyes, you had a wobbly smile when you looked at Jay who tore his eyes from the machine, his green eyes watering too when they met yours.
"We're having a baby."

JAY HALSTEAD MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
“I can’t do this anymore.”
The words echoed around the apartment, as Jay raised his head almost in slow motion, to look at you, the frown on his face getting deeper as he stared back at you.
You’d reached this conclusion sometime last week, when you’d once again been staring back at the empty chair opposite you, the food that was getting cold on his plate barely touched, the wine in his glass still as full as when you’d poured it.
It wasn’t just the fact that he wasn’t around, or that he was busy. You’d known all that before getting into this relationship. It was that things had never been this way.
You remembered the few times he’d had to go deep under and you didn’t get to see him for a few months, or when he was so wrapped up in a case, you didn’t get to see much of him - he was gone by the time you awoke or you’d be asleep when he came home for a change of clothes. But even in those times, he had his own way of loving you - little notes he left on the counter that he'd scribbled quickly before he left the house, food left in the fridge or sitting out on the counter for you to find, dropping you messages in the day whenever he had a moment to breathe. You knew he cared.
But things had been different for the past few months.
You felt like you were the only one trying to keep this relationship afloat and you didn’t have the energy for it anymore. You didn’t think you could go on like this, staying up to catch him only for him to collapse into bed immediately. Jay had stopped responding to you so you’d stopped communicating for the past week and he’d gone on like nothing was out of the ordinary. The worst part of it was the fights you got into every time you confronted him about it.
But now Jay blinked back at you, looking like he was caught off guard.
“Y/N, what…”
You shook your head. “I don’t think I can do this anymore, Jay. Are we just roommates now? We don’t even talk anymore. I have no idea what’s going on with you, just like how you don’t know what’s going on with me.”
Jay stepped forward, shaking his head now. “No, Y/N. I don’t want to do this.”
You exhaled, ignoring the streak of tears down your face now.
“Y/N, please. Don’t do this. It’s this case, alright? Once we get this squared away, I promise I’ll…”
You stepped back again. “You don’t get it. It’s not this case. It’s not any case.” You raised a hand to wipe away the tears but it was useless as another tear fell. “I knew you’d be busy, I knew what I was doing when I agreed to be your girlfriend and even when I agreed to move in with you. But that’s not it, Jay. We’re disconnected and if I have to explain this to you, it just proves my whole point.”
But the look in Jay’s eyes made you want to take everything back.
“Let’s just… take a step back alright? I’ll call in a few days.” You said now, because you knew if you spent another second looking into his eyes you might take it all back. But that would just be sweeping everything under the carpet and even though everything was a mess, you knew that you didn’t want that kind of relationship.
So you turned your eyes away, took what you might need for the next week and left the apartment you shared with Jay Halstead.
Tumblr media
The next week passed in a blur and unlike your colleagues, you were relieved to be up to your eyes in things you had to do in the office. It was a great distraction and you threw yourself into your work. Even that hadn’t been able to take your mind fully off Jay, but in your defense, it wasn’t all in your mind.
You knew Jay was trying to give you space and that the few texts he’d sent you over the week was him trying to balance out giving you space and trying to convince you that this was not the end for the both of you.
But you’d put it off, telling him that you were swamped, mainly because you knew you still loved Jay Halstead with all your heart. Which was what had made it so hard for you to turn away.
The real wrench in your plans, however, came when Will Halstead showed up at your friend's apartment where you'd been crashing at for the past week.
“Will?”
Will gave you a small smile. “Can we talk?”
You frowned but stepped back to let him in. It wasn’t like you and Will had been friends before you’d started seeing Jay. You’d just hung out a few times with him and Jay after the both of you had started seeing each other. So this was literally the first time you and Will were meeting without Jay.
The whole thing felt weird, so you’d just sat yourself across from him at the table, handing Will a glass of water. “What’s up?” You asked, kind of awkwardly.
Will sighed and looked up. “Jay’s too stubborn to do it himself, so I’ll have to do it.”
You angled an eyebrow upwards, not sure where this was going but nodding at Will to go on, sitting there as Will started speaking - about how Jay had been acting a little weird the past few months because of a case Intelligence had been on. A case about children. And he’d been so in his head about catching the elusive perp while also not wanting to burden you with his own problems that he’d somehow neglected you along the way.
“You know how he is, Y/N.” Will said quietly, that made you look up.
Will put a hand up. “Look, I get it. It didn’t help that he didn’t tell you anything, or that he just pulled away from you. But he’s been a mess ever since you said you needed a break. And you know Jay.”
You sighed. You’d always believed in the universe giving you signs, like little helpful pointers to point you in the right direction and this time, the universe was pointing you back to Jay Halstead.
“Will. I’m not doing this because I stopped caring about him, or because I stopped loving him. It kills me.” You paused, your eyes meeting Will’s. “But I don’t know if I can keep doing this. Maybe he thinks he’s protecting me, but it just makes everything worse. And I…”
Will shook his head. “I’m not here to pressure you into taking him back or to interfere. At least, not more than I already have.” He paused. “I just wanted you to have the full picture. Because my brother might be a detective, but he's an idiot.”
You nodded. “Thanks, Will.”
Tumblr media
You thought that Will’s visit would have confused you, but ironically everything became much clearer about what you had to do.
You called Jay to say you were ready to talk if he had the time, to which Jay had agreed, and even through the phone you could hear a mix of slight veiled hope mixed with nervousness as if the two of you hadn’t already been dating for a whole year prior to this.
Jay had invited you in awkwardly, as if some of your things weren’t still in his closet, or like you hadn’t been sleeping in the same bed slightly over a week ago.
“I’ll make us some coffee.” Jay said, smiling.
You nodded, your eyes raking over the familiar place. By the time Jay came out, he looked like he was resigned to whatever you were going to tell him, his green eyes holding a look of sadness as he approached you with two cups of coffee.
You blinked back at him, before you moved towards him, stepping right up to him and putting your arms around him, burying your face into his shoulder.
Jay froze, his arm still sticking outwards, both hands laden with a coffee cup each.
“I know.” You whispered. “And you’re an idiot.”
Jay sighed, and you felt the air leave his body as you still pressed up close against him. “I can accept that there are times you can’t be with me, and I can accept that there are things you can’t tell me. I accept that your job puts you in the line of fire and I accept that you want to protect me from all of that.”
You took a breath, your face still tucked into him. “But I do not accept you hiding your feelings from me. I do not accept you pushing me away. That’s not protecting me, Jay. That hurts me.”
You pulled away now, fully aware that Jay couldn’t do anything with two cups of coffee in his hands.
You took the cups from him, setting it down on the coffee table behind you. The coffee table you’d picked out.
“So let’s make a deal.” You said.
Jay glanced up at you, still not having said anything.
“You don’t have to tell me everything in detail. Just tell me if you’re having a hard time, or if you’re stuck in your head and I’ll back off.”
Jay blinked back at you.
“But you have to give me the space to worry, or to unsure and insecure. I just need to know you care, Jay. I just need to know I’m not the only person working on this.”
Jay stepped forward as you finished talking and pulled you into his arms. “I’m sorry, Y/N.” He whispered, his breath tickling your ear as he pressed you gently into him.
“I promise.”
You glanced up at him. “You do?”
Jay nodded. “I’m sorry I was an idiot. I’m sorry that I made you feel all these horrible things all by yourself. I’ll do better and be the person you deserve. I promise.”
You felt the tears well up in your eyes again, the feeling that everything was right once again settling into your heart, for the first time in a long time.
“I’m sorry I said I couldn’t do it.” You told him, looping your arms around his waist again. “I was just upset.”
Jay didn’t say anything, just tightened his arms around you, his hand resting gently on the back of your head. After a short silence, Jay pulled gently away. “Don’t you ever think for a second that I could ever stop loving you.” He whispered.
You gave a small smile. “I missed you.”
Jay stroked your cheek gently with a thumb. “I love you.” He whispered, before he leaned forward and pressed his lips firmly onto yours, like he needed to seal his promise.

“And I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”
It was surreal.
You and Jay were finally husband and wife and you couldn't believe it.
“I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” he had whispered on your lips when you exchanged your first kiss as husband and wife, your heart bursting with joy and happiness.
On the way to the wedding venue Jay did nothing but kiss and caress your ring finger, still in disbelief you really decided to marry him. You were his, forever.
You couldn’t stop grinning.
Everything seemed more beautiful. The colors were brighter, the air cleaner, the sky bluer, the trees greener.
Everyone present including colleagues, friends, family could see how happy you both were, how much you doted on each other, how much you were in love. There wasn’t anyone who hadn't thought at least once how much they would’ve liked to experience a love like yours. So pure, genuine, crazy, overwhelming.
Jay didn't take his eyes or hands off of you for even a second.
He kept looking at you and the more he saw you smiling, laughing, so happy and carefree, the more he couldn't contain his disbelief. God, he would’ve given you the fucking moon if it meant always seeing that smile on your face. You were so unbelievably beautiful especially in that white dress, which hugged your body so perfectly it seemed to be sewn on you.
My wife.
My wife.
My wife.
He kept repeating in his mind.
How the hell did he get so lucky?
His hand circled your hips with a firm, possessive grip, while his thumb caressed the fabric of the dress that covered your skin. He couldn’t help but stealing kisses from you from time to time, between a ‘congratulations’ and another, whispering how much he loved you and how fabulous you looked in your wedding dress.
“Did I already tell you how stunning you are, my love?” Jay asked as his eyes ran up and down your body, holding you to him with so much passion and desire you felt like you were dying in his arms.
You both had inaugurated the dance floor by doing the first dance and while those present watched the scene with emotion, some of your relatives took videos with their cell phones, unaware of the things that Jay was whispering to you and just seeing with how much adoration you looked at each other.
You smiled as you talked, slowly swaying to the song’s rhythm, unaware of how much your eyes sparkled as you looked at him. He looked at you with just as much admiration, his cheeks aching from how much he was smiling, his heart exploding with joy. Even someone blind could tell how much that man loved and adored you, how much he venerated you, how much he worshiped the land you walked on.
“You're not half bad either Mr Halstead,” you replied with a cheeky smile, unable to take your eyes off him and how wonderfully the suit he was wearing looked on him “God, I just want to rip your clothes off right now,” you continued, not realizing you had actually said it out loud.
Jay's arms tightened around your hips, pulling you further into his body and trying to hide how that one sentence made him feel. “Baby don't talk to me like that… I'm already trying so hard not to drag you away right now. You really want to make me lose my mind?” He warned you in a low tone, his lips brushing your ear before leaving a soft kiss on your cheek. He then sighed with frustration making you chuckle. “I don't think I can last the whole day.”
The song came to an end before you could respond and before you knew it everybody was drunkly dancing around you.
Your feet were sore as you and Jay danced with friends and relatives and you would’ve paid gold to take off those damned torture machines.
Seriously, why did heels have to hurt so much?
You were hot, sweaty but happy, like you had never been before. Jay wasn't much for dancing so he eventually went to talk to some other guests but he was having the time of his life and couldn’t take his eyes off you as he watched you dance, the way your body moved to the music, the way your curves were hugged by your wedding dress, the the way you sprayed happiness from every pore.
The love he felt for you was so unconditional, powerful and intense in such a way it took the air out of his lungs, it made the blood boil in his veins, it consumed him deeply, burned him from inside.
He had never once in his life felt anything like this, not until he met you. It felt like constantly being punched in the stomach every time you looked or smiled at him, it felt like his heart skipped a beat every time he heard your laugh, making it dance to that melody he couldn't wait to hear for the rest of his life. That kind of love was so profound that even when you were sad or cried, he felt like a piece of him was being ripped out of his body, especially when he couldn’t do anything to make you feel better.
He lived for you, breathed for you only, to a point he couldn’t even function when you weren’t by his side.
“Okay, okay, enough, I'd like to dance with my wife now,” Jay's voice made you turn and you almost tripped over your own feet when your eyes landed on him.
He was standing behind you, looking at you with a gorgeous and mischievous smile on his lips, his hands shoved in the pockets of his suit. He exuded confidence from every pore of his body and you couldn’t even explain how you managed to get that man. He was so charming, so dreamy and insanely hot, he completely took your breath away.
My husband.
Wow. How the hell did I get so lucky?
You smiled at him and the friend you were dancing with raised her hands in surrender. “She’s all yours Halstead but treat her right or I’ll kill you.”
His eyes traveled down your body, running his tongue over his bottom lip after biting it as his gaze devoured you with so much intensity and desire that every cell in your body lit up on fire. “She’s in excellent hands Clara, don't worry.”
“Ugh you’re disgusting. Stop eye-fucking my friend in front of me.”
You laughed as he wrapped an arm around your waist, now looking at Clara. “Can you blame me? C’mon look at her.”
“I’m still here and I can here you, you know,” you intervened, giggling as your arm encircled his hips too.
“I'm watching you Halstead, just remember that,” she warned him with an amused look and pointing her finger at him before walking away and going to grab another drink.
Jay then let you go and turned your body to his, holding out a hand towards you, finally meeting your gaze again. “Would you give me the honor of this dance, Mrs Halstead?”.
The way that name slipped from his lips made you melt like a snowman under the heat of the sun's rays, God how much you loved the way it sounded.
Mrs Halstead. Fuck me.
“The honor is all mine Mr. Halstead,” You grabbed his hand and before you knew it you were already pressed against his chest while his arms wrapped again around your hips possessively, almost as if he was afraid to let you go.
“My gorgeous wife” he whispered while swaying to the rhythm of the music. A rush of shivers ran down your spine forming goosebumps all over your skin. “Do you have any idea how much you drive me crazy? I’m so obsessed with you baby.”
His lips left small, sweet kisses on your lips, making you have a hard time to respond. You giggled as his beard tickled you meanwhile he planted chaste kisses along your cheek and neck. He inhaled your scent deeply, a scent he’d never could live without.
“And I’m so obsessed with you.” You wrapped your arms around his neck as his hands slid down the small of your back, resting chastely on your ass. “You make me so insanely happy Mr Halstead.”
Anyone who saw you two would say you were just a beautiful couple dancing happily on the best day of their lives.
But the things Jay was whispering in your ear were far from innocent, they would’ve made even a porn star blush.
“God I can't wait to take this dress off you,” he had said as your bodies moved in time to the music. He had turned you around, pressing your back against his chest and wrapping his arms around your waist. There was a lively song playing at the moment, the bass so loud you could hear it across the room and you couldn't deny you were grinding against him more sensually than you would other times on purpose.
You couldn't control yourself, not when it came to him.
Jay had the ability to make you give in with just two simple words whispered in your ear. Normally you couldn't keep your hands to yourself for a long time, your sexual chemistry had always been high and this moment was no different. You wanted him so badly you almost forgot you were on the dance floor celebrating your wedding.
You almost moaned when you felt his erection pressed against your ass, hard and sore, repressing the instinct to get on your knees and pull down his pants in front of everyone.
“Baby,” he murmured against your ear, leaving wet kisses on your neck. “God the things I would do to you now…”
Your stomach tightened in a vice as the heat in your lower abdomen continued to expand. “Tell me darling. What would you do to me now?” You replied in a question, pressing your ass further against his dick.
God I hope no one notices.
Jay let out a sigh that went straight to your pussy, making your legs clench in desire. “Fuck please stop, I can't take this anymore,” his arms tightened around your hips even more, as if trying to let out the frustration. He felt like he was exploding and the more you kept grinding against him, so sensually to the music’s rhythm, the more he wanted to rip your dress off and fuck you in front of all the guests.
You turned towards him again, placing your hands on his chest and caressing him slowly and sensually while batting your eyelashes seductively as you looked at him.
Jay thought he’d come in his pants just from the way you were looking at him.
His eyes were now hungrily fixed on your lips, which he wanted so desperately wrapped around his hard dick.
“So?” You urged with a smirk on your lipstick-covered lips. “What would you do to me baby?”.
Jay placed his hands on your face, caressing your cheeks with his thumbs. “You really want to know what I would do to my wife right now?”.
You were so desperate you nodded as if you were possessed, God, you would’ve done anything that man asked you. That man that was now your husband.
It's so surreal.
He licked his lips as his eyes moved up and down your body for a moment, quickly but at the same time imprinting every detail of how that dress looked on you in his memory, before returning his eyes to your face and tracing with them the outline of your lips.
“It would be better if I showed her, don't you think?” he whispered against your lips, making you forget again you were in public and not just the two of you.
“Wouldn't it be better if I just showed her the way I would take off her dress and get on my knees for her? Wouldn't it be better if I showed her how much I want and desire her by licking her pussy and every bit and drop of her wetness until her legs tremble? By fucking her so hard until we both forget our names? By being buried so deep inside that sweet little cunt of hers that she’s gonna feel me for days?”.
He pressed his lips on yours in a chaste and sweet kiss, in stark contrast with the things he was saying to you. “And show her how hard I am inside my pants just by looking at her in this dress? Show her how happy I am that she’s my wife? That I get to keep her forever?”.
That's it.
You slightly pulled away from him and grabbed his hand before leading him away from the dance floor and out of the wedding reception, not caring if someone actually saw you two leave. Your free hand held the edge of your dress as the two of you walked down the hall. He followed you like a puppy, a stupid, inebriated smile on his lips, his body quivering with anticipation and frenzy.
You arrived in front of a door that marked ‘storage room’ on its nameplate and looked around noticing that no one was there. You opened the door and pulled Jay inside with you and before you could even fully turn towards him, his hands were already on your face and his lips had captured yours in a kiss that took the breath out of your lungs.
He closed the door with his feet as he devoured you in a passionate and devastating kiss. Never letting you go, he removed one hand from your face before locking the door, returning his full attention to you immediately after.
He didn't know why but that was one of the most beautiful and breathtaking kiss you had ever exchanged, so overwhelming it made his knees weak and his stomach twist.
It may have been the fact that was the first real and passionate kiss as a married couple, maybe it was because he could finally call you his wife, because he could do this for the rest of his life, but all of this drove him like crazy.
“God I want you so much baby,” you breathed out in a little moment of separation. He didn't give you room to do or say anything else because he started kissing you again so intensely that a hit train would’ve been less crushing.
You slightly parted your lips and his tongue slid in your mouth without hesitation as they moved in sync against each other. Your dragged your hands along his chest, touching every bit of his body you could reach, almost shaking from the frenzy and desire of wanting to touch his heated skin.
A deep moan vibrated in his throat when you sucked on his tongue, making him lose that shred of sanity he had left. He pushed you against the wall, his body pressed against yours as he continued to kiss you passionately and greedily.
“You'll be the death of me,” he murmured against your lips as he planted kisses up your jaw and down to your neck. His tongue wet your skin as he nibbled it, his lips sucking at the same time making you gasp and writhe in pleasure. “I want to fucking rip this dress off you.”
You giggled – since the feeling was pretty much reciprocated – eyes still half closed as you enjoyed the sensation his lips gave you. “Don't you dare, it was expensive as fuck.”
He suddenly pulled away from you and a cold feeling took over you at that distance. His eyes traveled down your body and how your wedding dress hugged every single curve perfectly, fuck, it felt like it had been sculpted on you, like it was made just for you to wear.
He just wanted to take a good look at you, imprint in his memory every single detail of you in your white wedding dress.
But the way he looked at you, God. He was like a predator about to haunt his prey, glaring at it with desire, ready to capture it and devour its flesh with voracity and hunger. You felt so beautiful, like you could rule the world, like you were unstoppable, and you could only thank your husband for that.
“Fuck baby…” His chest rising and falling heavily due to that ardent kiss. He bit his bottom lip so hard he thought it’d start bleeding. He shook his head slightly as he continued to look at you lustfully, as if he could hardly believe you really existed, that you were actually his. “My beautiful, perfect wife…” He sighed. “I could just come from looking at you damn it.”
You pulled him back to you by the collar of his jacket and had to use all the strength you had in your body not to tear it off him along with that shirt. You kissed him again as your hands roamed down his body. You just couldn't take it anymore, you felt you’d explode soon or later if you didn't have him immediately.
You slipped his jacket off his shoulders, dropping it to the floor and hastily unbuttoned his shirt, eager to finally touch him, feel his skin against yours.
He did the same, unzipping your dress and you pulled away as he helped you step out of it. You didn't care if it got dirty or even ripped, you were just eager to finally have him, to feel him, your mind too foggy to think about anything other than Jay. But he took your dress instead of dropping it on the floor and placed it on an empty chair there.
This gesture made you smile with happiness and with every passing second you couldn't help but think about how you couldn't have chosen a better man to be your husband.
It was only then that Jay realized what you were wearing underneath your wedding dress, that vision alone almost making him fall unconscious on the floor. You were wearing one of the sexiest and most breathtaking white lingerie he had ever seen you wear and this made him regret not dragging you out that dance floor sooner.
My fucking wife.
“Baby… Jesus Christ…” he sighed heavily as he looked at you with so much lust and hunger, his mouth and his eyes wide open. “You… Wow… You’re so fucking beautiful… Holy shit…”
“I guess you like it then,” you giggled like a schoolgirl and grabbed his hands, pulling him back to you. He wasted no time touching you, caressing your curves and sliding his hand down your back until he grabbed your ass. He squeezed and massaged it with so much passion you were sure he’d leave some marks.
“Is this what you were hiding from me under that dress? Fuck if I had known I would’ve fucked you on that damn dance floor in front of everyone.” He started to grind his pelvis with yours and making you moan when his hard dick pressed against your intimacy.
“Jay please…” you sighed as he continued to grind against you, making you lose your mind. God you wanted him so much you it hurt.
His lips kept brushing his lips against yours, pulling back when you tried to kiss him and chuckling at your frustration.
“My sweet beautiful wife,” he murmured and placed his lips on your neck, on that particular spot that he knew made you lose your mind. A small moan left your mouth as he began to lick and suck at your skin again and you tilted your head, giving him more access. “I can't wait to be inside you.”
You grabbed his face and pressed your mouth on his, kissing him voraciously and passionately. It was like you were burning inside, as if your soul was trying to escape from inside your body and merge with his.
You had reached the point where you couldn't hold on for a second longer, you wanted your husband, you wanted him to take you there against those cold walls while all the guests danced in the wedding reception unaware of what you were doing.
You frantically unbuttoned his pants and pulled them down along with his boxers and freeing his hard erection, after sliding his shirt down his arms and leaving him naked in all his glory. You wrapped your hand around his erected dick and he let out a throaty moan, so fucking sexy you found yourself squeezing your legs together for some relief.
“Fuck yes…” he groaned as he struggled to continue kissing you while your hand pumped up and down on his dick. “I want to fuck this pretty mouth so bad,” he placed a hand on your cheek as his thumb caressed your lips. You took it into your mouth, licking and sucking it while your eyes were fixed on his.
He stopped when another loud moan left his mouth and he tilted his head back, his mind too clouded with pleasure. “Shh… You don’t want anyone to hear us don’t you love?” You smirked as you let go of his thumb.
“I don't give a fuck, I just need you,” he whimpered in an increasingly desperate tone.
“Yeah? How bad do you need me baby? Tell me,” you whispered sensually, biting his bottom lip as you slowed the pace of your hand and earning a frustrated verse from him.
“Fuck… Stop playing with me,” he warned you while at the same time his hips buckled up to meet your hand’s motion. You drew imaginary circles on his tip with your thumb, wet from the stain of precum. “Fucking tease,” he hissed before kissing you again. It was a sloppy and messy kiss, his tongue exploring every inch of your mouth, your saliva mixing with each other.
“Now get on your knees.”
Your pussy clenched at the sound of those words and you were never so happy to obey. You were about to kneel down but before you could, he picked up his jacket from the ground and placed it in front of you, making you smile like an idiot.
If there was one thing that Jay cared about more than anything it was knowing that you were comfortable, everything else came second and this was one of the many things you loved about him: how thoughtful and caring he was, even at certain times you always came first.
“I love you so much, you know that?” You kissed him sweetly, making him smile.
“It’ll be better for you since I put a ring on that finger.” He chuckled. “And I love you so much more.”
Your heart exploded in your chest and you kissed him one last time before kneeling down, your eyes still in his as he watched with attention every little movement you made.
You jerked him off again before moving your face closer to his dick, sticking your tongue out and he almost fainted… Fuck, he wanted to take a picture of that moment so badly, he would’ve printed it out and hung it all over your home because that vision alone was pure heaven.
Maybe it wasn't a proper thing to do to compare the image of you with his dick in your hand and your tongue sticking out to heaven, but he was too distracted to think about it.
A deep, guttural moan escaped his mouth as you traced a long wet line with your tongue from the base of his dick to the tip, which went straight to his pussy, forcing you to squeeze your legs together again.
“Ah holy shit…” he sighed, breaking off with another moan when you drew circles on his tip with your tongue just as you had done with your thumb not long before, tasting the saltiness of the leaking precum. “Fuck baby please stop torturing me…”
You smirked before wrapping your lips around his veiny dick and taking it fully into your mouth, starting a steady rhythm as you bobbed your head up and down his shaft.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” he whimpered in pleasure as the heat of your mouth enveloped him. His eyes were half closed, his lips slightly parted as he struggled to maintain control and not make any noises. But it was so fucking hard, especially when your eyes were looking at him with so much sensuality they took the air out of his chest, not when your mouth was making him more ecstatic than any drug that existed.
“Yeah baby just like that… Oh yes… My sweet girl…”
He threw his head back, giving you a perfect view of his neck, his prominent jawline and veins and that alone was one of the hottest, sexiest things you had ever seen in your entire life.
His moans filled that little storage room and you hoped for a second no one was passing by or they would’ve surely heard him, but this thought immediately vanished, too caught up to his pleasure to care about the rest of the world.
Jay began to move his hips, fucking your mouth and hitting the back of your throat with the tip of his dick. “Shit, shit…” he loudly moaned “God you’re so fucking pretty with my dick in your mouth.”
And it was true.
You were so breathtakingly beautiful. Especially with your watery eyes, the mascara running down your cheeks, your lips swollen and pink as they continued to grind on his shaft, back and forth, again and again.
You tried not to gag while he continued to fuck your throat with particular voracity but it was almost impossible, just as it was becoming difficult to breathe as his dick kept completely filling your mouth.
“Y-yes baby… Oh fuck… That mouth of yours will be the death of me.”
Even though you were the one on your knees, you felt so powerful. Damn it, how much you loved knowing you were the only one who could make him feel this way, that you were the only one whose mouth he could fuck so mercilessly it almost made you choke on his dick, knowing that his moans, his sighs and whimpers were only and solely for you, knowing that it was only you who was making him lose his mind so badly.
He placed a hand on your head, threading his fingers into your styled hair, tugging and making you moan onto his dick. God you loved it when he did that, and he knew it.
Sensing you were having trouble breathing, Jay pulled his dick out of your mouth, taking it into his hand. “Stick out your tongue.”
You did as he said, feeling every cell in your body go up in flames.
“Such a good girl. My baby is so good for me."
He smirked as he began to slam his dick against your tongue which left a long stream of saliva on it, his other hand still in your hair as he continued to maneuver your head to his liking.
“You like that huh? You like being my pretty little slut?”.
“Fuck yes baby, please use me.”
He put his dick in your mouth again, letting out some of the most borderline pornographic moans you’ve ever heard along with strings of obscenities and profanities.
“My wife is so dirty… Oh god yeah… She likes being dirty for me?” He groaned and you managed to nod while looking at me through your lashes. It didn't take long for him to feel the orgasm starting to build inside him and he had to stop, not being able to hold on any longer.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck stop baby, you're gonna make me come,” he panted as if he'd run a marathon, stepping back and letting his dick pop out of your mouth. “I… Fuck, I need to be inside you.”
Before you could say or do anything, he helped you get on your feet and pressed his lips to yours still swollen, wet and pink from the killer blowjob you had just given him. He pressed your back against the cold wall but you didn't care, you were too hot to notice.
A moan escaped your lips this time when he moved your lace panties to the side with his fingers and slid them over your pussy.
“Fuck… Baby, ah yeah…”
“So fucking wet god… You drive me insane, I can't wait to be inside this pussy,” he kissed your neck as his fingers drew imaginary circles on your clit giving you the pleasure you so much needed.
Your hips began to slowly rotate following the same movement he was doing, your mind clouded with pleasure as you felt yourself already on the verge of an orgasm. God you were so horny, you didn't think you'd ever been this eager to fuck him.
“Look at that, fuck me, you're soaking my hands baby…”
“Bab-… Fuck yes… Please…” you babbled senselessly, struggling to keep at bay the moans and sighs that had taken the place of Jay's and were filling the storage room at that moment. “I… I can't…”
You wrapped an arm around his neck while grabbing his bicep with the other hand, trying to find some support because you felt like you’d collapse on the floor at any moment.
Your lips nibbled and sucked the skin of his neck making him sigh in your ear, on one hand to keep your almost uncontainable moans and on the other because you wanted to mark him, because you loved seeing what you did to him, you loved knowing he has only yours.
“Ah yeah… Fuck…” you hissed, biting down on his skin when he penetrated you with two fingers.
“Yes baby, fuck yourself on my fingers. Show me how much you like when your husband touches you like that.”
“J-Jay… Oh shit… I need you please…” you managed to stammer between moans. You felt like you were about to come but you needed to feel him, you needed his dick inside you.
Jay pulled his fingers out and you almost had a heart attack when he brought them to his lips. Without his eyes ever leaving yours, he licked away every trace of your fluids, humming with pleasure as he tasted you.
“You taste like heaven, I can't wait to lick every fucking drop and make you come on my face.”
“Jay I'm about to lose my goddamn mind. Please hurry up.”
He chuckled and brought his hands to your ass, pressing your half covered pussy by your panties still pulled aside against his dick, making both of you sigh with desire.
“What do you want baby? Tell me.”
You grabbed his face with your hands, pressing your mouth against his and sliding your tongue inside his when he slightly parted his lips. His hands continued to massage your now red ass, pressing his fingers hard as you kept grinding against each other.
“I want my husband to fuck me against this wall,” you whispered against his lips, pink and swollen from your impetuous kisses, your noses brushing.
My husband.
These simple words made him feel a sensation he couldn’t quite describe, an explosion of emotions that caused an electric shock to go through his entire body, which made his heart beat wildly and his legs feel like jelly.
It was pure melody.
It was so sweet and sexy at the same time, it made him was so happy he felt like he was touching the sky with a finger. He was your fucking husband and he couldn’t still fathom the idea he really managed to make you his wife.
Jay crashed his lips against yours again, sucking out that little trace of your soul you still had left in your body. He was eager to possess you, to feel you, to show you how much he loved and wanted you.
His hands lowered to your thighs and you took that as a sign to jump into his arms. With almost astonishing ease, he lifted you up and you wrapped your legs around his hips and your arms around his neck.
Your back was pressed against the cold wall but it didn't bother you, you couldn't even feel it. With one hand he held your thigh, while the other stroked his dick a couple of times before aligning it towards your entrance, penetrating you with a single slow thrust and making both of you to let out a loud and deep moan.
“Jesus Christ, fuck…” he moaned, using every ounce of his will and strength not to come instantly. His other hand settled on your thigh again and his fingers pressed so hard they felt like they were going to tear your skin at any moment.
Jay had his face buried in the crook of your neck, his lips wide open as if trying to get some air, his breathing quickened.
“Shit baby you feel so good inside me,” you breathed out as his dick stretched out every corner of your vagina. He wasn't even moving and you were already falling apart. “Please move…”
Jay pulled out of you slightly just to penetrate you again, this time with more force. He started moving his hips slowly, in and out of you, making you crave for more. But it didn't take long for him to start fucking you like his life depended on it, his thrusts now stronger.
He was thrusting so deep you could feel him in every corner of your body and a piece of you disintegrating with each passing second. Your arms held him close to you, your fingers on his shoulders while your nails slid across his skin, leaving marks that would probably stay there for days.
“God baby I can't get enough of you, f-fuck…” he groaned in your ear as his lips left trails of wet kisses on your neck and his tongue licked your sweaty skin.
You tried to answer but the pleasure was so intense, so high you couldn’t get anything out of your mouth other than a moan or a whimper. It felt so fucking good you couldn't even describe it.
A particularly loud moan escaped your lips as he gave a particular deep thrust, making you almost jump out of your skin as he hit your G-spot. “Oh my fucking god… Just like that… Oh yeah baby…”
“That's it, moan for for me princess. You’re being so good.”
He raised his head from the crook of your neck so he could look at you. You opened your eyes and met his eyes shining with luxury and passion, his pupils so dilated you couldn’t see the green of his irises.
His dick twitched inside you as he continued to fuck you against the wall mercilessly, and seeing you so deeply in the throes of pleasure, your mouth slightly open, your cheeks flushed, your eyes half closed… He was going crazy.
You kept looking at each other’s eyes, extending the deep connection between you two to another level. It wasn’t just your bodies that were fucking, but your souls too and you would’ve payed gold to stop the time and live this moment over and over again, forever.
“I love you so much baby, God I love you.”
“Fuck.” He crashed his lips into yours in a messy and sloppy kiss due to the continuous gasps interrupting you. You rested your forehead on his, both covered in a thin layer of sweat.
“Mine.”
He kissed you as his dick soaked with your fluids continued to thrust in and out of your pussy.
“Mine.”
He kissed you again.
“Mine.”
He kissed you once again, sucking and biting your lower lip but stopped by another moan as your walls clenched around him making him struggle to even stand still.
“God… Oh yes baby keep going… Please…” you spluttered and closed your eyes as you felt your orgasm take over you.
“Don't close your eyes, please look at me… Ah Jesus… Fuck yeah keep clenching around me like that, you’re such a good girl for me baby.”
You did as he said as you placed your hands on his face looking into his eyes and feeling that sensation of pressure twisting and clenching your insides.
“I love you, fuck… S-so much…” you cried out again now, your mind completely gone. Your eyes started to water from the intensity of his thrusts and you felt like you were going to implode in that same instant. “I'm coming, I'm coming, I’m coming please don’t stop…”
A loud moan escaped your lips as an overwhelming orgasm hit you like a truck, almost giving you a heart attack. Your arms encircled his neck again, your nails scratching the skin of his shoulders.
You didn't know if you could die from an orgasm but damn that was exactly how you felt. It was like someone made you fall from a ten-story building without a parachute.
Jay exploded in an orgasm after a few more thrusts, filling your pussy with his cum until the last drop before pulling out. He exhaustedly rested his head on your shoulder leaving small, sweet kisses on your neck.
The silence that now reigned in the storage room was only broken by your panting while you both tried to catch your breath as if you had just run a marathon.
You felt so good in that moment, like your body was floating in space and you didn't know if it was the thrill of being discovered, if it was the wedding, but that was the best sex you had ever had.
“God I can't feel my body anymore,” you murmured and he chuckled as you stroked the hair on the back of his head, leaving kisses on his cheek in the meantime.
That little room smelled of him, you and sex and you had never smelled a more sublime fragrance.
“Can we stay here forever?”.
“I'm afraid we still have a party to attend,” he tiredly chuckled again. Jay raised his head to look at you, a stupid smile on his lips, his heart happy. “Do you have any idea how fucking beautiful you are angel?”.
You smiled and gave him a kiss on the lips, this time sweet and gentle in contrast to the ones exchanged so far. “And you're a flatterer Mr Halstead, I know I look awful right now, my makeup is all ruined.”
“You’ve never been more beautiful than you are now Mrs Halstead. You look like you've been fucked properly.”
You rolled your eyes playfully, already starting to imagine the jokes and teasing your friends would make as soon as they’d see you, not to mention the embarrassment in front of your relatives and family.
You decided you’d think about this at the right time.
After both of your regained a bit of strength again, Jay carefully put you down but wrapping an arm around your waist when your knees buckled and you nearly fell to the ground.
“Wipe that stupid grin off your face,” you commented with mock annoyance when you noticed the smug, proud expression he was looking at you with and the way he was trying not to chuckle.
“I take full credit,” he laughed and before you could respond he silenced you with a kiss, making you forget what you even wanted to say.
After getting dressed, Jay helped you put your wedding dress back on, zipping it up your back and helping you fix your hair and what was left of your makeup as much as he could. He left a kiss on your right shoulder as his hands stroked up and down your arms. “I don't want to go back there.”
He kept planting kisses on your shoulder and up towards the crook of your neck and your jaw until he reached your cheek which he insisted on, making you smile stupidly. His arms wrapped around your hips from behind, pressing your body against him and holding you until you were almost breathless.
“Where did the ‘we have a party to attend’ go?” You teased him, meanwhile placing your hands on his and caressing them.
“I want you all to myself, I'm not ready to share you with other people again, plus now I want to fuck you again.”
You laughed, feeling your cheeks heat up. “Already?“.
“Already? Baby I would spend twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week buried deep inside you, don't act like you don't know me c'mon.” He kissed you again. “And above all seeing my cum dripping out of you and this damn lingerie drives me crazy, you can’t seriously expect me to resist you.”
You turned to him and cupped his face in your hands before pressing your lips against his as his arms encircled your hips again. A flock of butterflies exploded inside your stomach and he kissed you breathtakingly, making you lose the ground beneath your feet.
“I love you so much,” you whispered between kisses, forgetting again that the two of you had been locked in that storage room for God knew how long. “I'm so happy I married you.”
He smiled as you kissed him again, almost making you kiss his teeth. He’d never get tired of hearing it, no matter how much you had said it. “God baby I love you so much more.” He held you even tighter, as if he wanted to somehow get under your skin and steal your soul, which he had actually been doing for so long.
“My wife, my wife, my wife,” he continued to whisper, stealing several more kisses from you, kisses that he actually couldn't even manage to give you because of the way you couldn't stop smiling.
“You make my heart so happy.”
“Stop you're going to make me cry,” you hit him lightly on the shoulder covered by his jacket, feeling your eyes fill with tears.
God, could you love someone so much it hurt? Because that's how you felt.
You loved that man so much. So intensely you couldn't sleep when he wasn't there, so much you missed him even when he was just a few meters away from you, so deeply you couldn't imagine a life without him since the moment you met him.
You had always dreamed of an everlasting love, the kind that took your breath away just by thinking of it, that fairytale love, that love you had always read in novels and seen in films and Jay Halstead gave you all this and much more than you ever imagined or deserved.
He was peace.
He was home.
He was everything you had ever wanted and more.
Jay took your hands in his, bringing them to his lips and leaving a kiss on both of them, focusing in particular on your ring finger. His eyes shone like the ring’s stone at that moment and you looked at them mesmerized, thinking about how lucky you were to be able to do this all your life.
“We should go back there…” you murmured in a low voice, already sad for having to break that little bubble in which you took refuge even if not for a long time.
He snorted like a child but nodded. “I can't wait to have you all for myself.”
He intertwined his fingers with yours before unlocking the door and peeking out for a moment to see if anyone was nearby.
“Shit,” he muttered, immediately closing the door again when he saw a waiter walking down the hall holding an empty tray.
You let out a laugh when you saw his expression and he covered your mouth with his hand. “Shh, they'll hear us.”
“Baby we were fucking against the wall ten minutes ago, I'd say we're a little late for that don’t you think?” you whispered back, taking his hand away and looking at him with a raised eyebrow.
He playfully rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah whatever. Now kiss me.”
Before you could say anything he pulled you towards him by your hips, pressing his lips on yours. His body was pressed against the door and yours against his, your arms around his neck and his around your waist as his hands slid on your ass while you made out like teenagers hiding from your own parents.
“I'll never get tired of kissing you, it'll never be enough,” he whispered against your lips, nibbling and sucking your lower lip, making you sigh.
“I know what you're doing, stop it. Until proven otherwise it's still our wedding and we have to celebrate it,” you admonished him, dropping your hands to his chest and slightly pushing yourself away from him. You got a sound of disappointment in response, just what a child would do.
“You know what’s a great way to celebrate? Having sex. C'mon baby, come here.” He tried to put his hands on your hips again but you took a step back, crossing your arms over your chest in mock disappointment.
“We have a whole life to have wild sex. You don’t want to celebrate your wedding with your wife?”.
“Drop the act baby, I’m not falling for it,” he boop your nose with his index finger, a gesture that immediately made you smile even though you tried so hard to hold it back. “Of course I want to celebrate with you, that's not what I meant. This is the best day of my life.”
He chuckled before grabbing your hand and moving away from the door. He opened it again and like a few moments before, he checked no one was coming. When he realized that no one was passing by at that moment, you both left the storage room and he closed the door behind you.
You both smoothed your dress even though it was totally useless, anyone from a mile away could tell you had some hot sex just some moments before.
But you didn't care, it was your day, yours and Jay's and damn, you were free to do whatever you wanted even if it meant sneaking out of your own party to have sex in a storage room.
Okay, it wasn't a very proper thing to do but what could you say, all couples consummated their marriage on their wedding night, you and Jay had just rushed things along.
So you walked hand in hand with your fingers intertwined towards the wedding reception, both of you with a stupid and joyful smile on your faces and happy as you had never been, ready to get drunk and finally start your life together.

One of Those Days || Jay Halstead x Halstead Sister
Tumblr media
We deserved more interactions between Kim and Jay, that's all I'm saying.
I was thinking about this day where I was feeling super shitty at school, my self harm habits were horrible back then and I always wanted to cry. Since my mom was working, I texted my aunt and she took me to her house. She knew I was pretending to have a headache, but anyway followed my game. My little cousin lend me her bed to lay down and she decided it was a good idea to read The Little Prince for me to fall asleep 💕
“Do you want me to call your dad?” The receptionist at school asked the girl infront of her. Her head was slightly lowered and her hair covered a good part of her face.
“Can you call my brother instead?” Becca asked in a low crackly voice.
The receptionist sighed, “Sure. But you know I can’t let you go without your dad’s permission”
The girl nodded and sat in the hard plastic chairs of the office to wait while the woman spoke on the phone.
“…Yes, she has a headache…She’s alright, but seems like it’s getting worse. The nurse checked her, but can’t really do much. Sure, she’s at the office. Thank you, Mr. Halstead”
“Becca, your brother will be here as soon as he can. Go get your stuff, I’ll call your dad to let him know”
She didn't really have a headache, but it seemed like "fake it 'til you make it" was a real thing because she was now starting to feel discomfort in her head. Although it might have been because she was struggling not to cry in front of everyone. Her nose was now red, and her eyes were watery. Everybody thought it was due to allergies or the flu, but in reality, she was swallowing hard, trying to retain tears rolling down.
“Let’s go, Beccs”, Jay said while picking up his sister’s backpack from the floor.
The walk to the parking lot was silent; she knew that if she talked, she would burst into tears. A hole in her chest appeared the minute she saw her brother, and now it was growing fast inside of her.
Jay was eagerly typing on his phone, dealing with work issues he couldn't leave for later. He was worried; since he received the call from the school, his gut told him Becca's emergency wasn't about being sick, and now, even looking at her sideways, he could confirm it.
The detective opened the car a few steps before they reached it. Both siblings went to the same side of the truck, the girl ready to jump inside, while her brother was putting her belongings on the back seat. When Jay closed the door, Becca was still outside waiting for him. She was scratching her eye, and as soon as their gazes crossed, she started to silently cry. Instinctively, brother and sister took a step forward to hug each other; there was no time for Jay to bend to her height, so she squeezed his waist tightly.
"Did something happen, or is it only the feeling?" He tilted his ear to be able to hear the answer.
Becca moved her head, saying no, her face still sunken in his stomach, "Only the feeling."
"Alright," he softly said. They stayed like that for a moment before actually going inside the truck.
With a mixture of affection and concern, Jay stared at his sister before starting the car. "Do you want to talk?" He spoke gently. Her delicate attempt to wipe away the evidence of her tears with the sleeve of her sweater tugged at his heartstrings.
Becca despised being seen in such a fragile state; the vulnerability on display only heightened her emotions. It struck her as ironic that the very person who made her feel secure and shielded, her brother, was the one in front of whom she felt the most exposed. In the tumult of her emotions, Jay remained her safe person, the only one she could trust.
"It's the pain in the chest, the black hole. It's growing."
He frowned with a slight nod. Jay knew perfectly what she was talking about, and he hated to be so powerless about it.
"I don't want to go home," she begged. Becca's face made Jay's heart drop; you could see the pain in her puffy eyes and her cheeks a bit swollen along with her pink nose.
He swallowed hard, "I honestly wouldn't take you there even if you asked me to. You are coming with me, but I still have things to do at the bullpen."
“I can wait”
On the road back to the 21st District, Jay’s phone never stopped ringing, but anyway he passed by a drive-thru to get an ice-cream for Becca, a nice attempt to cheer her up a bit.
“Feeling a bit better?” He asked before getting inside of the building. At least, the crying was controlled for a moment. “Alright, let’s go”.
It was obvious she had been crying, but nobody said a thing about it. All the cops, detectives and seargets greeted the girl with a warm smile and acted normal around her.
Becca stayed in the coffee room and never got out of there. After all the weeping, exhaustion took its toll, and she found herself drifting into sleep on the arm of the sofa. Jay periodically entered to check on her, his stress evident as he felt the weight of time pressing against him. The clock relentlessly ticked away, yet the workload showed no sign of diminishing.
Kim noticed, and after preparing to leave by taking her coat and bag, she approached her friend. "Hey! I'm already done here and heading home. If you want, and if she wants to, I can take Becca with me. I just need to pick up Mak from school, and then we'll be home."
The detective hesitated, “Uhm—“
"Look, I don't know what's going on with her, but at least she can properly rest there..." Kim's voice carried a note of genuine concern, her eyes reflecting a mix of empathy and worry for both of them.
They turned their heads to see how the girl was all tangled in her spot.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive. That way you won’t have the pressure—I mean, you’ll still have the pressure, but it will be different knowing she’s comfortable in a safe place…I know the feeling, Jay”
After a few seconds of deliberating in his mind, he thankfully agreed only for his sister’s comfort.
“Don’t worry, don’t rush. You can pick her up whenever you can, doesn’t matter if it’s late”, Burgess said before departing and Jay knew she was honest, “I’ll take care of her”
Makayla was delighted with Becca's presence but was too shy to interact with her. Since they didn't have visitors often, this was kind of a new experience for her.
"Mak," her mom called, "Becca is not feeling very well, would you lend her your bed for a little while so she can rest?"
"Sure!" Despite her short life, Makayla's tender heart had already weathered enough storms, shaping her into a compassionate soul capable of understanding when someone else was beaten down or in pain. She sensed all that in Becca and was willing to make her feel good. "I can even lend her my stuffies," she added as an innocent gesture. Now addressing their guest directly, she continued, "They'll keep you company and won't be scary if you wake up in the dark."
Kim guided Becca to the room and arranged everything for her, picking up some clothes and toys that her daughter had left on the floor. Meanwhile, Makayla was opening drawers and climbing them to reach the highest shelf where the books were placed.
"There you go, make yourself comfortable," Burgess said while still fixing the unmade bed.
“And I’ll read you something to help you sleep”, Makayla approached holding a big book with her small hands.
“Mak, sweetie, no. We’re going out while she sleeps, okay? But you can read to me”, she took her hand to lead her out.
“No, mom. She doesn’t need to be alone right now”, Makayla’s big dark eyes were over Becca. “She needs a story, that’s what you do when I am sad”
Suddenly, the pain in Becca's chest intensified, and the gaping hole seemed to expand. It was as if her new little friend could read her mind. Becca yearned to be alone to release the pent-up tears, yet a lingering understanding told her that solitude might not be the best course of action.
“It’s alright, Kim. This her room, after all”
“Yas!” Mak jumped out of excitement. “Now, you lay down here and close your eyes. I’m going to read you a story that always make me feel better when I am not happy…”
With a smile and slowly going out of the room, Burgess leaved the two girls alone.
“The Little Prince is one of my favorite books too, Makayla”
“I knew it” her smile was bright.
As Becca listened to the reading, she feigned sleep. A few tears escaped her eyes, but she skillfully concealed them. Eventually, the reading ceased, and Becca sensed Mak's tiny face drawing near, checking if she was truly asleep. The youngest Halstead heard Makayla's footsteps departing from the room, but then she returned, placing a stuffed animal between Becca's arms. "Don't leave her alone, Buttons," she whispered before descending the stairs with her mommy.
Slowly, Becca opened her eyes and as soon as she made sure she was alone, she started an intense crying, trying not to make a lot of noise. She turned to give her back to the door, hidding in case someone came in. Clutching the stuffed animal tightly, she cried until exhaustion enveloped her, eventually lulling her into a fitful sleep.
She awoke in Jay's bed, disoriented about how she got there, a Mak's plush toy still nestled between her arms. Rising from the bed, a sudden wave of dizziness hit her, her head throbbing, and the discomfort in her chest persisting. When she emerged into the living room, her brother was seated on the sofa. Becca raised Buttons with one hand, a question mark etched on her face, silently seeking an explanation.
“Makayla insisted you should take it for tonight”, he answered simply.
“Oh. That's sweet”
"How are you feeling?" Jay asked, standing up to approach her, but she just shrugged. "Stupid question?"
"It's just—"
"One of those days," he completed. "I know."
"A terrible one, and it's not over yet" There was a long silence and Jay knew she was trying to say something, so he gave her time. "I was scared, Jay."
Those last words sent shivers down his spine, he understood what she was referring to and was also frightened but couldn't admit it in front of her. He masked his concern, assuring her, "You should never be scared, I'm here with you."
"I know", she gave him a hug.
"Do you want to talk now?" Becca hurriedly said no only with her head, and her brother understood.
"Okay", Jay sighed, "You haven't eaten a thing all day. Food should make you feel better. What about pizza, a movie, and the company of your favorite brother, hm?"
"What? Is Will coming?" Becca teased him, finally smiling.
"Ha! A joke, that's a sign that you are already feeling better."
The evening unfolded and laughter echoed through the room as they enjoyed the movie. Yet, even in her weariness, Becca managed to stay awake for a fleeting moment. As she drifted into sleep, the pain in her chest, a constant companion throughout the day, was miraculously eased by the gentle touch and care of her brother.

Pass out - Jay Halstead
Tumblr media
"Come on, get up. We have to leave in like ten minutes," Jay said as he pulled the blanket off your body. He usually was the one who snoozed three times, but this time it was you. You just didn't feel like leaving the bed. Your head was throbbing, and you just felt off. You sighed and sat up in bed, grabbing your head with your hands.
"You good?"
You looked up at Jay and smiled. "I'm fine. Just a deep sleep tonight."
Jay didn't say anything more about it and left the bedroom. You slowly got out of bed and put on the most comfortable and work-appropriate clothes. Jay handed you your coffee, and some breakfast and the two of you headed out.
"Are you sure you shouldn't stay home?" Jay asked as you were driving to the district.
"As I said, I'm fine. I just had some trouble getting out of bed today," you took a sip from your coffee. "And maybe a little headache," you mumbled under your breath.
Jay looked at you, worried, but didn't say anything. You didn't like to be sick; even if you felt miserable, you didn't want to stay home from work. So much work needed to be done, and the team needed you.
Arriving at the district, Jay wasn't the only one who noticed that something was off today.
"Damn girl, you look like you've been hit by a train," Kevin said. He was standing next to Trudy, who smacked him on the back of his head with a folder.
"You don't ever say that to a woman," she said. Then she looked at you. "But I do have to agree with detective dumbass over here. Long night?"
"Yeah, let's go with that," you said and made your way upstairs, not in the mood to socialize. Once upstairs, the work started immediately as a case came in.
The day went too slow for your liking, and your headache kept getting worse. The smell of Jay's sandwich made you want to throw up, but you acted like everything was fine, too worried that they would send you home. Most of the day, you stayed behind to research on the suspect.
"Y/N, what do we have so far?" Voight looked at you.
You were standing right in front of the board. Everything you needed was right in your hand, all you had to do was hang some pictures up and tell about the suspect, but no words left your mouth. Your hands were shaking.
"Y/N, you okay?" Voight asked.
Jay looked at you, worried. He knew he should've let you stay home. "Alright, let's sit down," Jay helped you to a chair and gave the file to Ruzek. He took over what you were going to say.
Jay crouched down in front of you.
"I just need some fresh air," you quietly said.
"Jay, you go with her," Voight said.
Jay nodded and hooked his arm around you, slowly making your way to the back of the stairs. You didn't even make it that far. Before you reached the stairs, you felt your legs give out under you, and everything went black.
"Sarge!" Jay yelled as he caught you and played you down on the ground.
The whole team came running into the hall.
"She just passed out. She didn’t feel well this morning but insisted on going," Jay quickly explained.
"Lay her down on the couch and wait till she wakes up. Call me as soon as she wakes up. The rest of us have work to do." Voight turned around and pushed the whole team back to the bull pin. Jay lifted you up from the ground and brought you back to the kitchen, where he laid you down on the couch. He took a chair from the table and sat down next to you, quickly texting will to come over if he had any time.
When Will arrived, you were slowly waking up. You looked at Jay, who was standing at the door, filling Will in. Will looked at you and gave Jay a nod.
"Sleepbeauty is awake," Will grinned and walked over to you.
"What happened?" You slowly sat up, looking at Jay.
"You passed out in the hall. I told you to stay home...."
"I thought I was fine. It wasn't until that briefing that I felt like a train hit me." You looked at Will. "He called you to check up on me, didn't he?" You asked as Jay wasn't right beside you.
"No, he texted," Will grinned. "But honestly, how do you feel? People don't just pass out, Y/N."
"I'm..."
"Don't say you're fine, or we'll take you to Med," Jay threatened. He knew how much you hated hospitals.
"My head hurts, worse than it normally does. Before I passed out, my hands were shaking. I did eat and drink today, not enough, but it was still something. But it's mainly my head. And I fell a little stiff or something. I don't really know how to explain it."
Will nodded and made you follow a light with your eyes. He did some other quick tests, and it all turned out okay. "It's probably the flu or a migraine. Go home and try to sleep it off. You can take medicine if you want. If the headache is still the same tomorrow or even worse, just stop by at Med so we can fully check you out."
"Thanks, Will."
"Any time." Will turned to Jay. "Make sure she takes it easy, alright?"
"You got that. She will not leave her bed all day."
You rolled your eyes but loved how Jay cared for you. Will left while Jay filled in Voight and wrapped some work up.
Once you made it home, you changed into more comfortable clothes and laid down in bed. Jay put a glass of water on your nightstand and went to leave the room.
"If you want me to stay in this bed for the rest of the day, you better come join me."
Jay chuckled. He changed into some sweats and then laid down next to you. You crawled up against him.
"Thanks for always taking care of me."
"No problem at all." He started playing with your hair, and you were in a deep sleep before you knew it.

Neighbors - Jay Halstead
Requested? Yes
Word count: 1,198
Warnings: nothing major, bug mention
A/n: Idk if you wanted them to get together in this but tada
Masterlist
Tumblr media
[Can I request an image with Jay Halstead in which the reader and Jay don't get along very well since the disagreement they had at the hospital when they met because of a patient. And one night the reader comes across a FLYING cockroach in her apartment and starts screaming and Jay helps her get rid of the insect. ]
You didn’t hate Jay Halstead. No, he was just the annoying guy from two doors down that frequently got on your nerves. First off, you met in the Med ED when one of his friends got brought in. That first interaction alone was horrible.
He tries to tell you (a doctor) how you should take care of his friend (a police officer) and you guessed it, Jay was also a police officer. No medical training whatsoever. But he one upped you, went over your head and got his brother to take over the case.
That was just the beginning of it all. Ever since then it’s like he was always there to push buttons. He never took his laundry upstairs in a normal time. You’d go down to put a load in and his clothes would be in the washer.
You of course didn’t dare move them instead leaving a note on his door telling him to ‘finish your fucking laundry’ which sure he listened to, placing the same note back on your door with a thud as he carried his now dry basket of clothes into his apartment.
Not only that but he always, always, managed to park just a little over the line in the parking lot which at the right time made parking nearly impossible. And since it was assigned parking it wasn’t like you could just move somewhere else. Though you did get your karma a couple times.
Parking as close to his driver side door as possible so he’d have to do gymnastics to get in the vehicle. Always earned you a sharp glare when you passed in the hallway.
He was as fed up with it as you were but that didn’t stop him from parking like an asshole. Like tonight. When he parked slightly crooked over the line and you just so happened to be pulling in behind him.
With a bite of your tongue you did what you always did, pulled up nice and snug to his truck and got out, shooting him an innocently sweet smile as you locked the doors and headed inside.
If looks could kill you’d be dead on the ground right now but that didn’t matter. All you wanted to do was get inside, take a shower and go to bed.
The elevator upstairs was taking forever and by the time it was coming to the ground floor Jay had made his way inside and next to you.
The silence was full of tension as the doors opened, a young couple walking out with their dog, breezing past. Jay shockingly let you inside first, following and stepping to the side with the buttons and signaling to be brought up.
“Was that necessary?” His voice cut the silence as he kept his gaze on the numbers changing above the door.
You rolled your eyes, leaning against the opposite corner, “Don’t park like a dick and that wouldn’t happen,” you replied with a shrug, watching as he shook his head just slightly. The door opened seconds later and the two of you split towards your apartments.
His was just down from yours and completely bare compared to the floor mat outside of yours. The rainbow ‘welcome!’ Sign had seen better days but you didn’t mind its wear and tear as you went inside, shedding the outdoor layers the were a necessity in the cold of Chicago.
Your next stop was the bedroom for clothes and then the bathroom to shower. Which you basked in, the warmth of the water holding you in longer than you wanted it to.
As it grew slightly later you moved to the kitchen, deciding to make something small for dinner before something buzzed by your ear.
Absentmindedly you swatted it away, continuing on with the food making before whatever it was, landed on your arm, pulling a loud scream from your mouth, brushing it off quickly and pulling back against the wall.
Your eyes followed it around the room, the door to your apartment flying open, “Are you okay?” Jay nearly tripped coming inside, his eyes zooming around the entrance to your apartment.
The bug landed on the counter, a whine leaving your mouth before you looked up at the man that usually you’d hate seeing but right now we’re so thankful for. Shakily you pointed at the counter, “There’s a bug.”
Part of you was embarrassed but the way his shoulders relaxed as he stepped further into the kitchen made you feel the slightest bit better. “Seriously? You screamed bloody murder over an insect?”
“First of all, it landed on my arm. Second of all, you’re the one that came barreling in over it.” You rolled your eyes, arms tightly wrapped around you. Bugs were the last thing you liked dealing with. You could do blood, pus, vomit. All the nasty doctor stuff.
But not bugs. “I thought you were hurt.” Jay sighed, looking around. “Where are your paper towels?” He asked, following the line of view where you pointed again.
With a sigh he ripped one off the roll, slowly going towards it. “Wait don’t kill it-“ Jay faced you.
“What?”
“He’s just a bug, he doesn’t deserve to be killed just because I hate him and want him gone.” You slightly stepped forward, reaching into the cupboard above the sink, trying so hard not to disturb the winged insect.
Jay raised his eyebrows, “So the bugs a he now?” He teased, watching as you grabbed a glass and handed it to him.
“Shut up, just, get him so you, I, we, whatever can get him the hell out of here.” You spoke quickly, Jay raising his hands up in defense before placing the glass over the bug.
He turned to you once more, “Now what? You have paper just lying around?” His words were sarcastic but in actuality you did.
You brushed past him, grabbing a page from the magazine you had on your living room table, ripping it out and handing it to him. “That work?”
Jay nodded faintly, “Yeah..” He took it, successfully trapping the bug in the cup as he lifted it. “I’ll let him out the window,” The man offered, walking to the living room where you pulled a window and its screen open for him.
Once it was gone you took the cup from him, a light smile on your face, “Uh, thank you.” You muttered, walking away quickly to the kitchen to wash it out. Whether it touched it or not that glass was tainted.
“Yeah, no problem. Hey, next time try not to scream like you’re getting killed unless you’re actually getting killed.”
“Oh yeah I’ll do my best.” You rolled your eyes once more, glancing over at him. “No promises though. I hate bugs,” You added, flipping the cup over to let it dry.
Jay nodded faintly, “Well, you know where I am if you need an exterminator.” You shot him a look, “Or remover.” He tagged on before giving you a soft smile, “I’ll see ya.”
With that he left and you couldn’t help but look at the door when he was gone. Maybe he wasn’t that horrible of a guy.

Hemnes - Jay Halstead
Summary: you and Jay build a bed from ikea together.
A/N: Made it a bed instead of a shelf because I recently put their hemnes bed together and would've loved a Jay to help me!!

✰ ✰ ✰ ✰
“Come on,” Jay reached his hands out, letting you grab on before he hauled you up to stand inside the empty bedframe. Despite the shorts and light shirt you’d changed into halfway through trying to navigate directions for the bed that you and Jay had bought, you were still sweating.
Your shirt felt like it was clinging to your back and your thighs were red from rubbing together whenever your shorts had ridden up. All in all not a particularly cute or sexy look for you, though Jay wasn’t in much better shape. He’d hauled the mattress up the stairs into your shared apartment by himself (mainly because he was on some macho high from having loaded the truck at ikea without assistance either) and you could tell that he was close to wiping out.
“Okay, next time we buy a bed, let’s just pay the extra fee to have them put it together,” you suggested, stepping over the frame so you could help him unroll the mattress from the plastic it was packed in.
“They were charging half the price of the bed,” Jay started up and you rolled your eyes. As much as you loved your boyfriend’s passion, you would be the first to admit that it was often times misplaced. “Besides, you can’t beat the pride of having done the job.”
“Maybe but I smell like sweat and I’m pretty sure my deodorant stopped working right after we got the headboard assembled.” You took one end of the plastic, holding it as Jay released the ties around the mattress and the queen sized spring hybrid started to uncurl. The bed had taken months of back and forth to finally decide on, Jay complaining first about the style and then the color and then the apparent ‘ridiculousness’ of underbed drawers that slid out. It was such a matter of contention that both sides had gotten other people from work involved. And it was Hailey, who pointed out that Jay had always claimed to be a ‘function over fashion’ guy, that finally helped qualm the arguing.
“Honestly can’t smell it at this point.”
You pulled the last of the plastic away and looked at him, eyes narrowing, “no, babe, you don’t smell at all.” You mocked, grabbing the edge of the mattress so you could haul it onto the frame with him.
“I mean,” Jay leaned toward you and breathed in through his nose. That half smile crept up on his face as his eyes met yours, “you smell a little bit.”
“Jay!” You moaned.
“Last week, I came home from the gym and what did you say to me?” He questioned, hands on his hips now that the bed was in place, “you said I smelled.”
“You did, like significantly. And you told me that you didn’t!” You grabbed the box that the sheets were in and pulled the mattress pad out, fanning it over the bed.
Jay grabbed one end from you, beginning to stretch it over the upper left hand corner, “I didn’t know it was me! My point is, I’m just looking out for you.”
“It’s not really looking out for me if I told you that I know I smell bad. I’m just saying, when we’re done I don’t wanna jump right in bed.” You explained, “I wanna keep the sheets nice as long as I can.”
“You should’ve just said you wanted to shower with me.” he replied, smirking at you.
The pillows were the last thing on the bed and when you stepped back to look at it Jay gave them one last fluff. The bed looked comfy, the kind of bed you saw on someone’s home decor pinterest account and not the kind of bed you thought that you and Jay even possessed the ability to build together.
You hadn’t even argued though. He listened when you read the directions and he was ribbing you about the bed now but he’d been helpful every step of the way during the building and buying process.
“You okay?” Jay asked, waving his hand in front of your face when you just stood there looking at the bed.
You pushed his hand away, “I’m fine. I can’t believe we actually built this.”
“Knew we could,” Jay shrugged, leaning over to place a kiss against your hairline, “you know what this means though don’t you?”
“No Jay, what does us building a bed together mean?”
“That we should get married.” He replied, matter of fact.
You almost choked on air at the suggestion, and the way that he suggested it, “what?”
“We built an entire bed without a single argument.” Jay said, as if that explained everything, “so we’re pretty much ready for marriage.”
“Are you joking right now? Cause I would really prefer that you be joking. I mean, I literally smell terrible and I’m sweaty. My standards aren’t high but...they aren’t that low.” You replied.
Jay bit down on his bottom lip as he smiled, shaking his head. “I’m just putting it out there. I promise you will be clean when I propose to you.”
You cut the shower off, grabbing a towel off the rack and wrapping it around yourself. The steam in the bathroom seeped out as you opened the door and stepped into the hallway, the smell of pizza making your mouth water almost instantly. Jay had told you to get cleaned up and promised to grab dinner while you did, heading to the pizzeria that you loved not too far from the apartment.
“Jay!” You let out a laugh as you walked into the kitchen, covering your mouth with your hand and turning around swiftly. You were maybe expecting a slice of pizza to be waiting on the counter for you or a beer if there were any left in the fridge. But you’d walked out to find Jay down on one knee instead.
“Are you clean?”
You turned back around slowly, nodding your head because you could feel yourself getting too choked up to speak, tears brimming in the corners of your eyes as he started to speak again.

“Come on Y/N, you can’t be wasting away at home just because Jay broke up with you.”
“Stop being such an asshole, it’s barely been a week.”
Vanessa pursed her lips and plopped down on the couch next to you, pulling you close so you could lean your head on her shoulder. “I am sorry. I wasn’t trying to be an asshole. I know you’re hurting.”
And you were.
You and Jay have been dating for a long time. You’ve even been talking about your future together, getting a bigger apartment. But recently Jay’s been… Distant. And you weren’t sure if it was something you did or something you said. You never even found out what it was before he broke it off, and moved out of your apartment. After three fricking years. Just like that.
“If you want to, I can go punch Jay in the face, even if I run into the possibility of Hailey punching me.”
“Honestly, I don’t see Hailey wanting to punch you. You and Jay would just end up in a boxing match.”
The only thing that was keeping you from actually wasting away was that Vanessa was also going through a break up. The only difference here was that, while you were the dumpee, Vanessa was the dumper. Which you still didn’t quite understand, if you were being honest.
“I still don’t get why you broke things off with Hailey. I liked the two of you together. She was good for you.”
Vanessa sighed and unceremoniously shrugged with her shoulders, which were uncharacteristically strained. “Everything happened so fast and things were super intense with Hailey, I felt like the relationship was just breezing past me. I just needed to press pause for a second, you know?”
You pulled away to raise an eyebrow at Vanessa. This was the first time she had admitted out loud that this wasn’t a ‘pause’ and merely a bad patch in their relationship.
“Pause huh?”
“Shut up.”
Grinning, you tucked yourself back in Vanessa’s side, keeping your thoughts to yourself. You knew that Hailey and Vanessa eventually would end up together again, it was obvious that Vanessa still had feelings for her. They’d work it out. But then again, you had thought that you and Jay would work things out and where did that get you?
“Ugh, Jay’s such an asshole.”
“So we’re back on your thing, huh?”
“I am sorry, did you want to keep trying to tell me that you don’t want Hailey back?”
“Okay okay, we’re back on your thing. Jeez, woman. But you know my thoughts on this. Let’s go out. Fuck Jay. You’re a catch and you know it.”
Puffing out an exhale, you thought over Vanessa’s suggestion. She wasn’t telling you to date other people, just to go out, have some fun and distract yourself. As you thought over her words, you realized that while this wasn’t what you needed per se, it was obviously something that she needed, judged by the downcast look Vanessa was wearing whenever she thought you weren’t looking at her.
“Fine, let’s go out.”
Vanessa turned to you so quickly, you were worried she’d give herself whiplash, but she looked ecstatic, judged by her wide eyes. “Really?!”
“Yes, but please don’t make me regret this decision,” you groaned when she pulled you off of the couch and into your bedroom.
The next half hour, the two of you spent your time looking for outfits to wear to the ‘new hottest club in Chicago’ as Vanessa has put it. After fighting Vanessa for wanting to put you in the skimpiest outfit you’ve ever seen, you two agreed on some jeans and a decent top that showed some skin, but not all of it “Fine, be a prude, but if I had your assets, I’d sure as hell show them off.” You put some makeup on before you deemed it enough for a night out.
“Ugh,” you huffed when you got out of the cab. Apparently this really was the hottest club in Chicago based on how long the line to get in was. “Maybe this is a sign that we should go back home,” you said to Vanessa, trying to get her back to the cab, but your friend grabbed your wrist.
“Don’t be silly, we don’t have to stand in line. Come on, my guy’ll let us in.” With those words, she all but dragged you to the entrance and greeted the bouncer. “Hey Steve. This is my girl Y/N.”
Steve grinned at Vanessa and greeted her with a half hug. “Hey V. Your girl huh?”
“Oh, not like that,” you laughed and Steve nodded with a wink before he jerked his head towards the door.
“Get in. But don’t cause any trouble.”
“Can’t make any promises!” Vanessa called over her shoulder before the two of you headed inside the club and it felt like you had entered a completely different world. The music that was playing nearly deafened you and the decoration with the lights made the club look like an expensive version of every other club in Chicago.
“This is insane!” you yelled over the music and Vanessa grinned at you, mouthing told you so. Even though you didn’t even have a drop of alcohol in your system, you wanted to dance.
“Let’s go dance!”
Vanessa laughed at your sudden eagerness but complied anyway, stopping by the dance floor before you hit the bar. And as you found yourself crowded in by dancing people and with a laughing Vanessa by your side, you had realized that this was exactly what you needed after all. It seemed like the DJ was on your side too, as he kept playing one banger after the other and you felt obligated to keep dancing.
“Hey, wanna go grab a drink?” Vanessa asked and you gaped at her, waving your hands around.
“Are you kidding? During this song?”
She rolled her eyes at you, but it was obvious that she was pleased. “I’ll grab us drinks. G and T?”
You gave her a thumbs up and she disappeared into the crowd after a mere second. Strangely, you didn’t feel less comfortable now that Vanessa wasn’t by your side to shield you from strangers anymore and you just kept dancing and enjoying yourself. After Vanessa hasn’t returned after two more songs, you started to get worried. As you tried to find your way off of the dance floor by squeezing past a bunch of drunk people, while simultaneously keeping an eye out for Vanessa, you found a familiar face at the bar.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” you muttered to yourself and immediately averted your eyes. “Where the heck is Vanessa?” You weaved through the crowd and made sure to put as much distance between you and him as possible, but you knew it was to no avail when a hand gently wrapped around your wrist.
“Jay.”
“Y/N. Are you avoiding me?”
With a deep breath, you turned around to face your ex and looked up at him defiantly. “And what if I was?”
“You shouldn’t be here,” Jay sighed softly and you tugged your wrist out of his grip, glaring at him.
“I am pretty sure you lost the privilege of trying to tell me what to do Jay.”
“That’s not what I meant. I am working. We’re trying to catch a guy who’s been kidnapping drunk women from clubs and sex trafficking them across the border.”
“What? I haven’t seen Vanessa for a while, have you-”
“She’s with Hailey, don’t worry.”
You let out a laugh, shaking your head. “Of course she is.” At least one of you got your happy ending.
Jay opened his mouth, no doubt to tell you to go home but he paused, as if someone was talking to him. You guessed that someone from the team was saying something through the earpiece. His jawline tightened before he turned his attention back to you.
“Find Vanessa and go home. I have to go. Adam said he saw Keller leaving the club with a woman, so you should be safe. But please. Go home.”
His voice was incredibly small, you could barely hear him over the loud music. It almost made your walls crumble. Almost.
“I can take care of myself,” you hissed and sharply turned on your heel to get away from him. You located the bathroom and went inside, leaning against the sink to collect your thoughts for a second.
Jay seemed so vulnerable, worried. But maybe it was just the lights. By the way he just unceremoniously dumped you, it didn’t seem like he cared a bit about you. With a deep exhale, you exited the bathroom, immediately running into someone.
“I’m so sorry.”
“Y/N?”
You looked up at him in confusion for a bit before you recognized who it was. “Steve, right. Sorry. Have you seen Vanessa?”
“Yeah I saw her earlier. Are you okay? You look like you just saw a ghost,” he asked and placed a comforting hand on your shoulder.
“I am fine,” you said with a small smile.
“Why don’t you come back to the break room with me? Vanessa said she’d swing by, it’s probably easier to find her like that.”
You considered it briefly, but since Steve was a friend of Vanessa, you didn’t think for long. “Sure, that’d be nice.”
You followed Steve through the club, until you reached a door that almost wasn’t visible because it was the same color as the wall. Steve ushered you inside quickly and shut the door behind you. The break room was small, with two shelves lining the walls, a table and a couple of chairs in the middle.
“Come on, sit.”
With a long sigh, you plopped down on the nearest chair and leaned your head in your hand. Despite not wanting to follow Jay’s plea, you really did want to go home. But you weren’t going to let Vanessa stay here by herself, so you really hoped that she’d come by soon.
“Too much to drink?” Steve asked in amusement and you only shook your head.
“No, not even a drop.”
Steve chuckled and put a cup of water on the table, offering it to you.
“Thanks.” You took a big gulp of the water, before frowning at the weird aftertaste. “Is there alcohol in this?”
“What?” he laughed, shaking his head. “Of course not. It’s just water.”
Nodding slowly, you put the cup back on the table, eyeing it suspiciously. “Maybe I should just go find Vanessa. I don’t want to bother you,” you said quickly, standing up from the chair to leave, but somehow everything started swaying like there was an earthquake.
“Maybe you should just stay here” Steve said with a dark voice, pushing you back into the chair harshly. “I think you had too much to drink.”
“Sorry guys, false alarm. It was just a drunk couple. Keller is still somewhere inside,” Adam’s voice crackled through the earpiece and Jay cursed, balling his hands in a fist. He should’ve made sure it really was Keller before leaving you all by yourself.
“Fuck!”
He moved into a lesser busy corner of the club and slipped his radio out of his pocket. “Hailey? Where are you? Are you still with Vanessa? Where is Y/N?”
“I am outside with Vanessa, we couldn’t find Y/N.”
“She wouldn’t leave without me,” Vanessa chimed in, her voice muted. “She must still be inside.”
“Are you serious right now? Are you-?”
Jay was growing angrier and angrier by the second. This was exactly what he was afraid would happen. That you’d be in danger because of him. He paced back and forth, trying to think of a plan.
“Kim and Adam, search the entire club, Kevin, you take the top floor. Hailey, make sure to cover all the exits,” Voight’s voice rang through the radio. “And Vanessa… I know you’re not a part of Intelligence anymore, but we could really use your help.”
“On it Sarge,” Vanessa’s voice sounded through the radio and Jay shut his eyes, trying to get his head in order.
“Jay, don’t lose your cool. Just because we can’t find Y/N doesn’t mean Keller has her.”
“Wait, wait, hold on a minute,” Vanessa said, sounding breathless. “You guys are looking for Keller? As in Steve Keller?”
“Yes, why?”
“Oh god. He’s the bouncer of the club, right?”
“Yes, Vanessa get to the point,” Jay hissed into the radio.
“I know him, he’s- he’s a friend of mine and he let Y/N and me cut the line earlier.”
“Fuck! Are you fucking serious? Where the hell is that guy?” Jay snapped into the radio, his blood running cold.
“I don’t know!” Vanessa exclaimed.
“If he’s working here he could be in any of the staff rooms, check those rooms first.”
As soon as Jay heard those words, he raced through the club, hoping he was going to get to you in time. He pushed his way through the club, earning several dirty glances from party goers, but he didn’t spare them a second look. Jay only had one thing in mind.
You squirmed in the chair and it was hard to control your limbs. Steve had only tied you lightly, probably thinking that whatever he had dosed your water with, would render you defenseless. But you weren’t going to give up without a fight. You freed yourself from the zipties just like Jay once taught you and as Steve was talking with someone on the phone, you quietly stood up from the chair. Your stealthiness was unfortunately betrayed by a flimsy piece of tin foil you stepped on. Steve’s eyes were immediately on you and he harshly grabbed you by the arm.
“I have to take care of something,” Steve said into the phone before hanging up, backhanding you across the face, making you fall on the floor like you were made of paper. Wincing, you wiped your hand over your face and when you looked at it, there was blood all over.
“Steve, please let me go, you don’t have to do this,” you pleaded with the offender but he paid you no attention. He taped your mouth shut and tied your hands together tightly, adding tape for good measure.
You tried wriggling out of the zipties but it was no use. They were too tight and with the way you were lying on the floor, there was no way for you to get away. A single tear rolled down your face. You knew all the dangerous people Jay had to deal with and all the victims they left behind, but you never would’ve expected that this would happen to you.
Suddenly, the door was kicked open.
“Chicago PD! Show me your hands!”
You nearly started crying again when you saw Jay standing in the door, his gun trained on Steve as Adam and Kim hurried to pin Steve to the floor, cuffing him.
Y/N, are you okay?” Jay asked, crouching down to check up on you. He gently removed the tape from your mouth and wiped the tears from your face, he was frowning so hard, you were afraid the frowns were etched into his face permanently.
“I am okay, I am okay,” you assured him, your voice croaky. You tried to give him a reassuring smile but your face hurt so much.
Jay exhaled softly, and then sat you up, cutting the tape and ties off your hands. “I was so worried,” he said quietly and stroked your cheek gently. “I thought I was too late. I am sorry, this is all my fault.”
“What?” You spluttered. “How is this your fault?”
“I… I broke up with you because I thought you’d be safer if you weren’t dating me. I was just trying to protect you and instead I pushed you into harm’s way.”
“This is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard,” you told him with a huff, before you coughed violently.
“Come on, let’s get you checked out,” Jay said and helped you up, walking outside of the club with you. The place was surrounded by police and people were standing around, either drunk or confused. Jay led you to the ambulance and sat you down. “I’ll have to check things with Voight and then I’ll be right back, okay?” He turned to the medic, pushing one finger into his chest.
“Keep an eye on her and make sure she’s alright okay?”
The medic nodded and turned their attention to you, tending to your wounds and bruises as Vanessa ran up to you, all breathless.
“Y/N, oh my god, are you okay?” She asked, grabbing you by the shoulders gently, nearly pushing the medic over. “Sorry, I need to check on my friend for a minute,” Vanessa said and the medic rolled his eyes, before he disappeared around the corner of the ambo.
“I can’t believe your guy is a sex trafficker, V,” you said, pulling a face at her and Vanessa frowned, wrapping her arms around you tightly.
“I am so sorry. I should have known that he was a bad guy.”
“How? With your supernatural senses? Come on, it’s not your fault.”
“Still. I would have wacked that asshole straight to county if Voight would’ve let me.”
You gave her a self-deprecating smile without pulling the stitches. “I am sure you would’ve.” You saw Hailey a few feet back and smiled at her before turning back to Vanessa. “You guys okay?”
“Yeah, I hope so,” Vanessa said, following your gaze to the blonde before her attention was shifted to a conversation between Jay and the medic that was taking place around the corner.
“-and you barely bandaged her wounds, are you kidding me?”
“That officer basically ran me over, what do you want me to do, Detective?”
“What about you?” Vanessa asked with a raised eyebrow as she turned back to you and you shrugged with your shoulders, biting back a laugh.
“I think we’ll be okay.”
“Rojas, out. Y/N needs a medic,” Jay said with the medic basically by the nape of his neck and Vanessa only mouthed “protective!” at you, before she ducked out.
“Seriously Jay. Stop fretting so much. I am fine.”
“You’re anything but fine. You’re hurt.”
“Not any worse than what you did,” you muttered and Jay sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Okay, out,” Jay told the medic who threw his hands up in frustration, walking off but not before muttering a very distinctive “Cops.” under his breath. Jay turned his attention back to you, cradling your hands. “I know I hurt you. But I wanted to protect you. Do you know what kind of target I am putting on your back by just being with you?”
“This isn’t news to me, Jay. I’ve always known that. But it’s been three years and then you suddenly just realized that? Sounds like bullshit to me.”
Jay sucked the air in sharply and he pressed his lips together, before he pulled a ring out of his pocket, showing it to you. Your eyes widened comically as you stared at the ring before you looked back up to Jay.
“Did I hit my head too hard or is that a ring?”
“I’ve been wanting to propose for a while now.”
“And the logical thing to do is break up with me, of course.”
Jay gave you a look that told you to be quiet and you pressed your lips together, though you couldn’t hold back your smile.
“The prospect of proposing to you, it made me realize how important you are to me and how I would literally lose my mind if anything ever happened to you, especially if it’d be because of me. I thought I’d protect you by breaking up with you and staying away, but tonight proved how wrong I was.”
There was a pause and you looked at him, blinking.
“... Do you always just carry that ring around, or…?”
“Y/N.”
“Right, serious talk,” you cleared your throat as he raised an eyebrow at you. “What? I am not saying yes, Jay. You haven’t even aske- get up!” You flushed when Jay got down on his knees and looked around, hoping no one had caught that. “We’re not even dating right now. Just… There are a lot of things to talk about and if all of those are resolved, you can ask. Properly.”
And a couple of weeks later he did, very very cheesily and over the top to your dismay. Secretly, you loved it, though.
