what i want to see in s5?
i want to see this
Tumblr media
let Robin be the overprotective sister to Mike that he always deserved to have.
Will has Jonathan, Dustin has Steve (and Eddie) but Mike and Nancy aren't really close even tho he obviously longs for family love but just can't get it
so here comes our favorite lesbian who adopts this gay kid with more internalised homophobia than braincells and helps him accept himself and teach him that he actually deserves to be happy and loved just like everyone else

Turn the other cheek, and I take it on the chin /Part 2/
Part 1
The sky was blue, two and two made four and Eddie was a coward.
Those were the irrefutable truth of the world. Eddie used to call his behavior "self-preservation" when he ran away from cops and angry jocks mob, or when he skipped a class he couldn’t understand, or when he ran away after witnessing one of the most traumatizing death in the history of mankind.
But as he saw Robin Buckley angrily stomping down his stairs and into his basement, he couldn’t qualify his next course of actions of anything but cowardice.
He had known day more glorious but as he shielded himself from the furious woman with a, for once, quite Mike Wheeler, he couldn’t care less about his image in front of his club.
Hypocritical right ? Yeah that’s another truth Eddie was very well aware about himself but who would dare look him in the eye and spit that fact in his face ?
Robin Buckley actually, as she did not hesitate to shove Mike out of the way and grab Eddie by the collar of his worn out Hellfire shirt, bringing him dangerously close to her angry red face, and shoving him against the wall.
"You, Edward Theodore Munson, are the biggest hypocrite I’ve ever seen. How dare you force those big monologues on conformity and "Hawkins’ monster" on us on top of those poor cafeteria tables, only to turn around and do exactly what you so loudly claim to be against ?"
Eddie was petrified, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from hers. The basement was as quiet as ever, everyone seemed to hold their breath, too scared they might remind Robin of their presence.
"Steve changed, actually no, he didn’t change. He just had the courage to show his true self, he stripped away from the role that was forced on him by his parents, friends, everyone in this shitty town and by you too. He would and has put his life on the line so many times for every single one of you," She said the last part louder, slightly tilting her head to the side towards a specific side of the table but never moving her rage filled gaze from Eddie’s wide eyes. "He trusted you Eddie, he confided in you and what did you do ? You humiliated him by using his vulnerability against him. I hope you’re happy your pathetic little audience appreciated the spectacle." A protest formed itself on Jeff’s lips but was quickly shut off by a quick glare and an honest to god growl from Robin.
"You know what truly breaks my heart Eddie ? Steve still defended you and he doesn’t even blame you ! Do with that information what you want but I hope it makes you feel so bad you won’t be able to look yourself in any type of reflection for as long as possible."
She slowly stepped away from him, releasing her grip on his shirt and making a show of dusting him off,
"If you want to know what I think of this shit show Eddie. You don’t deserve him." She turned around, facing the kids, "and you guys are a bunch of ungrateful brats who don’t deserve Steve and all that he does for you."
She only looked at the older Hellfire members with disgust before turning back to Eddie. The man in question was looking at the ground, his head hanging guiltily and shoulder hunched.
Robin stepped back into his space, her mouth close to his ear, and let out her final strike in a quite sigh,
"And to think that man saved your life.."
With that, she left as she came, the front door banging loudly behind her.
That last sentence she had whispered in his ear sent a glacial chill down Eddie’s spine. It stabbed through his chest in plain and shameful guilt. Eddie sat heavily on his throne. A throne that Steve had spent two weeks making since the basketball team had burned his old one when he was on the run. He lost himself in a spiral of shame and regrets, cringing at himself as he pictured how it all went down earlier and how, even after noticing Steve leaving, they’d kept that same behavior. Laughing at the expense of the poor man like hyenas. One by one, the older members left quietly. The kids stayed a little longer, sitting in silence before all leaving in a quiet agreement. Eddie only registered Dustin telling him they will be using the phone to call for a drive home. A drive home that, for the first time since the boys had joined Hellfire, wouldn’t be Steve.
Eddie had fucked up, that much was very clear. He also knew why he said all those horrible things, he craved the validation and admiration of his sheepies and hellfire friends.
The only way he had found to maintain those was to do what he had always done.
To the detriment of his friends, Eddie was a hypocrite, selfish and coward man. Eddie saw an opportunity to remind his club of who he was, Eddie "the Freak" Munson, natural nemesis of the jocks.
Robin’s words kept circling in his mind viciously.
The sheer fury that emanated of her trembling frame was enough for Eddie to imagine how bad his words must’ve affected Steve.
He knew those exact words would hurt him and he still said them.
He also knew Steve, through and through now, and with that came the knowledge of what Steve might be thinking about himself right now.
Because his sweet, kind and good Steve, didn’t even blame him one bit. Eddie’s words had definitely hit a very tender spot in Steve’s myriad of insecurities and self doubts.
The man was probably descending full speed through the worst of his self deprecating thoughts right now.
Eddie wished the bats had eaten him alive as the thought of Steve believing Eddie saw him for who he was not.
Eddie would rather Vecna came back as a zombie than Steve Harrington taking his stupid, stupid words at heart and believing them.
If Eddie was going to do one last thing, it was to make sure that Steve knew he wasn’t seen as anything but the painfully good man he truly was.
Resignation filled his mind and he pushed himself up from the throne, walked out of the basement and took the keys of his van before stepping, in the soon to be dark, street.
Eddie was going to see Steve, apologize but most importantly beg the man to not take Eddie’s words for one of the universe’s truth.
It’ll be the last thing he’ll do if Robin Buckley didn’t kill him before for daring to stand in the same vicinity as her friend.
———————————————
Here’s part 2 !! And Eddie’s pov yay !! I’m so grateful for your response to the first part as it’s also a response to me getting back to writing and it motivates me so much guys !!!
Next part will be up in a few days since I’m going back to college full time but I’ll do my best to update this little fic as soon as possible !
I tried to tag everyone who asked for it and hope it all worked ?
Love y’all gang ! 🫶🏼🧡

Robin: I wasn't that drunk last night.
Mike: You asked Nancy if she was a horse so you could ride her like a cowboy.
Robin: And who convinced you I don't say things like that to her when I'm sober?
Mike: ...........I'm sorry, WHAT?!

Humphrey bone one shots [scenarios]
a/n hey guys sorry if its not to great this is my first attempt at writing anything like this, just wanted to get it out there because of all the new Humphrey content in season 5, please critique me! no beta read we die like Julian here.
Tumblr media
friendship scenarios:
living friend scenarios :
when Humphrey was alive, he was pretty alone in the aspect of friends, the same went down in the afterlife, so when he round out that you could see ghosts he didn't expect much. just for you to ignore him like everyone else does and to get on with the rest of the ghosts. but when you started speaking to him, he was pleasantly surprised. at first he was a little awkward as he usually is but eventually when he got used to you he started opening up, telling you about his marriage and how he felt like everyone would ignore him all the time.
he really enjoys hearing about your traveling experiences and your school days, considering he had near to no experience of travel from when he was younger.
he LOVES to have some company wherever he is, usually when you two would beet and you would find his head on the floor of on the stairs, you'd lie down with him and you could talk to one another for hours.
dead friend scenarios:
when you first died, in all honesty he was quire annoyed, it meant that he would have to another person blatantly ignoring him. he didn't know much about you or your time at the house because of his 'immobility'. you were typically quite antisocial so when you did die, you were quickly scared by the other people in the house, you found comfort in Humphrey as he was the only one who didn't scare you in all honest, all robin would do is yell and Annie and Mary were pretty close friends already, it felt like Sunday school where everyone already had friends leaving you all alone. so when you found out that Humphrey was in the same situation as you, you quickly became good friends, though you had barely anything in common, you enjoyed speaking to him and listening to his stories, he really appreciated someone that was willing to chase down his body for him and carry his head around with you. it made him feel more involved rather than just 'gathering dust on a shelf'
though he did always worry about you passing on, he wouldn't know what to do with himself considering all of the other ghosts just passed him around [literally], so when Annie passed on it really made him realise how great full he was to have you as a friend
romantic scenarios:
I wont be doing any living head canons ATM but feel free to request if you like :)
you two had been friends for what one could consider a life time, or a deathtime. you had both bonded over you situations and your lack of other options, you found comfort in Humphrey, he as much nicer than any of the other ghosts you had ever met. you never had an official ' first date' and in he best way to describe it, it just kind of happened. there was never an official word. but one day both his head and his body agreed that the one thing they both agreed on would be you. though the remained separate on certain occasions, they finally began to work together over time. Humphrey was always very affectionate towards you, even when you were just friends, but now that he and his body agreed, hugs were one of his favourite thing, literally almost every other second he wanted a hug, or just just genuinely be close to one another and considering his lack of romantic affection in his life, he wasn't going to miss out in his death.
he adores for you to comb your hands through his hair and caress his face, this was also one of your favourites as it could be carried out when him and his body are disagreeing, initially you would watch a film with his head in your lap, finding your hands wandering to run through his hair as if they had a mind of their own. though when you found that he didn't mind you made a habit of it, combing his hair with your nails into a specific neat style considering how messy it got sometimes.
warning! mild nsfw content below the line (this is assuming that ghosts can indeed, have sex.) i wont go into detail just a little taste, feel free to request more on this behalf again ill do a sep story
when both of you had started dating, you didn't really think about sex being something that would get brought up considering your lack of living-ness. though with Julian's habits with the plague ghosts you both became very aware of the possibilities to say the least. it took years of awkwardness around the topic for it to get brought up. both of you had grown up in very private lives and sex outside of marriage was never something you would think of. though eventually you became curious about what it would be like, both of you being dead and all. and then it became all you could think of, how his hands would feel, the whole detachable head brought a wide range of filthy ideas into your head, fannys book reading gave you a bit of inspiration for that. Humphrey took longer to warm up to the idea than you did, him being married in his past life that is. though eventually his 'primal urges, would take over and he'd cave in to your desires. he was a major people pleaser. doing whatever you would like him to on command. he wouldn't even touch himself without your word.

elmax/ronance au where Max works at the summer camp and El goes there with her friends (it's her first time there, but the boys go every year and Max and Mike don't get along like in the show and it just intensifies when Max meets Mike's girlfriend, not that she will do anything about it tho)
Robin, Steve and Eddie have also worked there for some time and know the boys well.
Nancy volunteers every year to help the monitors because she knows they are becoming fewer and fewer people (she swears it has nothing to do with Robin, but we know that's a lie)
Max can't stand watching Nancy and Robin dance around each other any longer and decides to give them a little push. Dustin, Lucas and El decide to help and this brings Max and El closer than they could have imagined, making El realize that there is more to life than stupid boys.
I would write, but I honestly don't have the time or energy for that right now, so if anyone wants to use this plot, feel free.
I would love to read this as long as elmax remains the main couple, followed by ronance because god knows we don't have enough fanfics with elmax as the main couple

Taken: chapter 6
the plot thickens even more...!
Previously:
Steve and Eddie are childhood best friends, and their favorite make-believe villain is based on a mystery man that they once encountered when Steve was in first grade. 11 years later, when Steve no longer has Eddie by his side, the man shows up at Steve's door again.
Two days later, Gareth Hadley is officially reported missing. Another two days pass; another student is missing. The next likely target is Steve.
Chapter 6 Summary: Nancy has a theory, which she tries to prove by looking up newspaper articles with Robin. They reconvene with Steve and Eddie to talk through their proceedings, and begin to realize that there are reasons, motives, and something darker and larger looming behind this whole thing, way more than they could chew at the time.
Expect canon-typical dark themes, suspense, conspiracy, friendship and bonding, and slow burn between Steve and Eddie.

Eleven: Jitterbug Love - Eddie Munson/Reader
Tumblr media
Warnings: swearing
Word count: 8,848
a/n: this are just fluff and yeah we are right at the end, hope you like this
Previous chapter
Eddie was almost hyperventilating when they arrived at your building, it took them more than an hour to get there, the cars had to stay in some parking lot that was just secure enough to have Steve’s Mercedes looked after. They walked and took the subway to get to Queens.
Eddie gulped, he had to clean his sweaty hands over his jeans. They were received by your mom, who happily hugged Robin, and greeted the rest of them with warm smiles and a light squeeze on the arm. It was kinda crazy how you looked just like your mom, but also very different, you were a tiny bit more intimidating, it was the gaze and the way you moved in a room, catching attention without noticing it. At least that was what Eddie thought the first time he saw you, you were like a magnet trying to drag the attention from others, yet you were unaware of it, looking down at your feet or anywhere else.
The teens and the two boys sat down between the open living room, they drank pink lemonade and a few pieces of watermelon, because your mom didn’t want them to dehydrate, and keep them occupied until the food was ready.
Robin was lively chatting with your mom, sharing anecdotes and mostly gossiping about people in Hawkins.
Eddie was occupying himself by drinking his very refreshing pink lemonade, trying his best not to freak out and contain the urge to get the hell away from there. The door swung open making him choke on the liquid as you came into view, his chest somersaulted when his eyes landed you, with your red cheeks and sweaty forehead, headphones on. He gawked.
“You okay?” Dustin asked Eddie, who nodded as he felt the boy patting him on the back, but he was just mesmerized, with his hand he cleaned the drops coming from down his nose and across his neck.
You passed by the living room as if they were ghosts. Your mom put a finger on her lips as she saw you walk by, straight to your room.
For you it was a normal day of spring break, a little too hot in the city but you had to go out and print some images for the magazine, so as expected the subway was starting to stink. You felt like changing your clothes the second you got home.
Eddie’s mixtape was playing on loop in your walkman. Morrissey sang to you while you changed your t-shirt, Max’s tie-dye gift was the one you chose as you hummed along to the song. The photographs Jonathan took of a protest in Illinois were nowhere to be seen. You were sure you had put them on your desk the night before.
“Mom! Have you seen the photographs I had on the desk?” you heard nothing coming from her. You took the headphones off, they rested on your neck, “mom?”
You came out of your room, squinting at the silence, your mom was a loud one, always making noise around the apartment.
Walking into the living room you pressed pause to the walkman, not minding the whole scene until your eyes turned ahead. You froze on your spot. A loud horrified scream came out of you unbidden.
“Surprise!!” everyone said untimely.
“What are you doing here!” you shouted, covering your mouth in a second, your mom laughing at the reaction as you got tackled by Robin.
Damn, your heart pounded all the way up to your head, you felt like you could faint any second, good thing Robin was there to avoid the horrible fall.
Tears burning your eyes. It was all like an illusion there was no way they were there.
“You need to keep your promise now y/n. Forbidden Planet, tomorrow!” Dustin said with a grin on his face, you were too in awe to say yes, you just laughed and held your cheeks with your hands, feeling flush and with blurry sight.
Hugs and greetings were exchanged. Jeez, where were you supposed to fit them all in your tiny apartment now? El was so cute and the most innocent girl you’ve seen, Mike half hugged you and handed you a yellow envelope with the words “From Nancy Wheeler” on.
You could check that later. Steve’s hairspray scent filled your nose as he came to hug you in a very harsh motion, but it was fine, you had missed him a lot too.
“But what are you doing here, what about Family Video?”
“We’re here for business…” Steve winked at you but you were kind of confused “don’t worry about it we’ll tell you later. Thanks for the sweater by the way.”
He nudged you lightly.
“He wore it for like two months straight” Dustin added with a grossed face, this made you smile “did you like my present thought?”
“You’re kidding? That was awful Dustin you need to try harder, I don’t know how Suzzie is dating you if you give such horrible gifts”
You heard Eddie snort on the far end of the room, your lips twitched. You almost forgot he was there, the butterflies in your stomach woke up.
“Oh shut up y/n, Suzzie loves me for my charm I don’t need to give her anything because she appreciates me for who i am”
“Okay whatever Dustin, you either apologize or there won’t be Forbidden Planet for you”
“Steve, look what you did to her, she sounds just like you,” Dustin squealed and the ruckus started.
Robin quickly intervened, as the chatting increased when your mom informed the food was ready, making it all way more chaotic as the conversation moved to your tiny kitchen.
This was your cue, your hands were trembling, with a big deep breath you moved. Sooner or later you were going to talk to him anyway.
“Um, hi.”
Eddie gulped, and tried to mouth some words but he was speechless somehow, looking like some fish out of water, he couldn’t be more pathetic. You felt like you were about to lose sanity by having him there, with that outfit and his tattoos showing off on his slightly more tanned skin, your attention slipped to his lips, so pink and soft, and his eyes so wide and bright. Not to mention the way his biceps flexed when he crossed his arm over his chest.
Fuck fuck fuck,
“Hi, hello.” He finally said, it made you smile, he was so not how you first saw him almost a year ago, confidence had left his body, replacing it by clumsiness and cuteness.
You could see the cherry color spreading all over his cheeks and ears.
“You look good,” he said first, taking you out of guard. His eyes never leaving you. It made you feel very self-conscious, still you probably weren’t as nervous as he felt but Eddie noticed the way your breathing hitched.
Eddie noticed everything when it came to you. It was almost like when he bought his precious guitar all over again as if the whole world had disappeared from around and it was just the guitar shining, but you were a million times more beautiful and captivating. His body and mind were not ready to see you, yes he had tried to wrap his head around the whole encounter with fake scenarios during the whole trip, still those didn’t do the trick for him. He couldn’t believe you were even more pretty now than what he remembered, hell! He was so in love and mesmerized it took his brain a moment to notice everyone had moved to the tiny kitchen to get food on their plates.
You smiled at him when he noticed the commotion. “You look good too! like a rockstar, you always looked like one to be fair”
Eddie’s smile caused a ripple of shivers on your spine. “Nah, I look like I could run a cult or at least that’s what people think.”
“For what it’s worth, I like how you look. I've always liked it.”
His eyes met yours, “That's all that really matters then.”
“Come let's have something to eat.” Your mind was not ready to touch on any delicate matters, not yet.
“Yes ma’am”
A grin formed on your lips as Eddie followed you to the kitchen. When you entered, your mom threw you a look, you knew her too well to know what that minimum innocent glance meant. It was a question charged with a cheeky meaning behind it. She came closer to you and whispered “is that him? The one from the band?”
Your eyes widened, they could’ve dropped out of their sockets, “Mom!” You whined.
“What? You spent the whole year listening to that cassette.”
Swallowing all your words you only shook your head and went to eat with your friends.
Both Eddie and you were not discreet when it came to ‘discreet' glances, and this time neither him nor you approached the other again. It was like an unspoken rule now, you couldn’t interact without making the rest of your friends to remain silent let alone to make the ambience feel awkward. Still they were doing their fair share, trying to tiptoe around the topic, no mentions of Corroded Coffin or concerts and definitely not the name that started with the letter C.
The afternoon didn’t lead to chatting with one another either. You weren’t sure if talking with Eddie was a good idea, yes having him there was a lot and it made you think twice of what to say if the moment occurred. But the sensations he made you feel were playing games with your brain. So when everyone left even after you and your mom insisted on them staying, you tried to get to your room before she could get to you, not wanting to explain anything to your mom but moms are smart, and sneaky. You couldn’t really hide anything from her.
“That’s the kid, right?… I wouldn’t forget a mop of hair like that. The Munson kid if I’m not wrong. He was always very… out there.”
Your mom was sipping from a mug, she looked tired under the fluorescent lights. But she managed to surprise you not once but twice now.
“I like him, he looks like a nice boy, even with all the dark clothes and the hair… although that style suits him. However I don't like him for that. I like him because I’ve seen the way he looks at you, as if you were the only one in the room.” Your mom smiled at you, you diverted her gaze, “now don’t tell me you don’t like him because I’m your mother and I know you y/n.”
She gasped, making you jump in your place, “or do you like that boy Steve? He is cute but you’re too comfortable around him so I’m assuming you’re good friends with him and you finally let that crush go-“
“MOM!” You were so embarrassed, trying to hide your face from your mom was not making it better.
“What? I’m just trying to understand, so is it Eddie or Steve? My money is on Eddie.”
Grunting you picked at your iridescent nail polish, “it’s Eddie… I like him but what if he just-“
“Sweetie, I heard that tape you carry everywhere with you, and he does! You’re just scared to reciprocate him.”
Well those weren’t news to you, but always being reaffirmed by someone else hit different.
“Of course I am mom! What if things don’t work out, we get along nicely but still, he has his band-“
“And you your magazine,”
“Exactly,”
“But you can work that out, eventually. You haven’t even gone on a proper date with him.”
“Uh, how do you know that?”
A smirk formed in her face, she tried to hide it behind the mug. “A little bird told me a few things.”
“Dammit Robin,” you mumbled.
“Hey, she did it because she cares for you, besides how on earth do you think we planned this, of course Robin was the master behind this operation.”
That was true, it had been a nice-scary surprise.
“Lately it seems like she talks to me more than you, I’m not judging sweetie just go with the flow a bit, you’ll do fine, you’re smart and young. Whatever it is that's making you uncomfortable, I know you are going to solve it, because you are not the kind of person that lets opportunities pass you by. Everything has a solution sweeties, remember that.”
“Thank you mom… I’m just scared, I don’t want to get hurt.. I guess”
She let out a chuckle, a sad one, “oh sweetie, that’s part of the game, if you don’t get hurt then you don’t learn anything, the point here is if you are ready to risk that for maybe a better outcome, you never know, maybe you won’t get hurt.”
Your eyes found hers, the tea in her mug got put aside. She grabbed your hands in hers, a little comforting feeling sitting on the base of your stomach.
“Still, It doesn’t depend on me? Eddie… he liked somebody else and now he is here and I know he likes me and I do like him but, mom…” you whined.
“Well honey, that, as you said, is not for you to decide, you only need to be open to whatever this thing is happening between the two of you, just let it happen honey. It’s always better than wondering what could have been, don’t you think? Plus, he is cute, too cute.”
“Mom…” you whined, she laughed, “please what if he actually becomes my boyfriend?”
“Than I’d have a cute son in law,”
“Ugh,” rolling your eyes, feeling like pop rocks were bubbling in your insides just by the mere thought of actually making Eddie part of the family. “I guess that wouldn’t be that bad.”
“That’s what I’ve been saying.”
“So if he asked me to go on tour with him would you let me?”
She shook her head, releasing a little sigh, “now you’re overstepping on my kindness honey, please go to sleep, you have a big day tomorrow. When the time comes we’ll see.”
You half shrugged, that went better than expected, “fine. Goodnight, and thanks mom, you truly are the best.”
“Thank you baby, I know that already.”
You snorted, kissing her cheek, finally making your way to your room.
You managed to keep the fake scenarios at bay for the last couple of days but that night they took over your mind after a whole day of having Eddie in your line of vision. Your eyes were fixated on the popcorn ceiling, questions started to pop, doubts brewed.
Eddie deserves another chance?
What if he doesn’t want another chance?
I need a damn sign. You grumbled and rolled with a pillow over your face, frustration was eating you alive.
Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. Maybe you are thinking much into it, so it was decided, you were going to let things flow, intrusive thoughts needed to be drowned. They dissipated when a knock put you on alert.
Eddie’s hands were shaking to say the least, Steve was by his side, looking up to your building, the kids were in his car waiting for him, faces plastered on the windows nudging one another, of course they didn’t want to stay at the hotel, gossip was their main motor. The night spring air felt fresh against Eddie’s face thanks to the little pearls of sweat covering his forehead. Shivers ran along his body not because he felt hot but for the anticipation.
The plan had been quite a success so far, he carried a bag over his shoulder filled in with sweets and drinks he knew you liked—or rather he bribed Robin to tell him what to buy—. Logistically was not the strongest plan, they had to go all the way back to the parking lot to get to Steve’s car and Eddie’s van to drive all the way to the hotel to then drive back to yours.
Was this a risky plan? Totally, but Eddie was willing to do anything in his power to fix things up.
Dustin honked Steve’s car, his hands up as if saying: ‘what are you waiting for?’
“Well… from now on you are on your own. Good luck Munson, I’ll see you… when I see you.” Steve smiled at Eddie giving him a heavy pat on the shoulder. “Don’t mess it up,”
“Yeah, no pressure at all. Thanks man,”
“Any time,” with that, Steve went to his pretty Mercedes and drove away, the kids waving at Eddie giving him thumbs up and hopeful grins. He only hoped that tonight was not a complete disaster.
Eddie was not a guy who exercised much however he pushed himself to do so the moment he climbed to the fire escapes, when he reached the seventh floor he was doubting his body would let him reach the twelfth.
It was fortunate that earlier Robin had a little tour in your apartment, she reassured Eddie that the fire escape was right outside your window, at least that way Eddie was sure not to encounter your mom or cause a lot of noise if in any case he had to try and enter the apartment to find you. Yeah that in itself sounded beyond crazy but then again he was checking on all his options.
“Fuck my life,” he said stepping the last flight of stairs, your window that indicated your room was closed, great.
He panted, taking a second to recover, taking the time to remind himself not to do this again, unless it was for you, for you he’d go to the rooftop and back six times if you wanted him to.
The way his chest was buzzing was not for the lack of air or the amount of effort he put into getting there, it was all because he was going to talk to you, and he was afraid of what you would say to him, he knew thing could go both ways, so he took a big deep breath. Squatting down to the same level as the window, he knocked very lightly.
His hand formed a visor around his eyes to try and catch a glimpse of you but the room was too dark, he clocked the shape of furniture but failed when it came to find you.
Eddie waited a minute, maybe it was less he didn’t know how time worked anymore he was eager. So he knocked again, almost yelped when your face appeared out of nowhere, the light of the city barely illuminating your features.
You laughed, but Eddie couldn’t hear, he waved a hand and you furrowed your eyebrows, wondering what the hell was he doing there.
His hands tried to push the window but he couldn’t, not until you unlocked it and he almost fell at your feet.
“Christ!” he squealed.
Gaining back his posture, crouching down he was still a little taller than you, you bit the inside of your cheek hiding a smile, it was impossible for you to stop the fluttery feeling in your stomach.
“Well, hello.” Eddie whispered, raspy, deep voice, you almost lost it there.
“Hi, what the hell do you think you are doing?”
Eddie looked around your room, and then at your face, to finally look at his hands, “isn’t it obvious now?” you squinted, Eddie let out a chuckle, he placed the bag he was carrying right between you two  “I came to see if you wanted to go to the rooftop. I checked and it has a very great view. I brought some snacks too…if you are interested.”
He didn’t check but Robin told him, so he trusted she was right.
His eyes were shining and that damn wry smile on, was he drunk, or high, how was that now his poise was the same as that night he took you out of your aunt’s house, it was a bit of a déjà vu moment.
“I need to change first… wait here, and don’t make a sound, my mom is asleep.”
“Sure thing, ma lady.” Eddie felt like jumping and screaming for a moment looking at you. He thought you were about to deny him the honor of spending the night with him.
It took you two minutes to pick up your clothes and put them on in the darkness, ballsy of you to do that with Eddie right there.
Eddie was playing with his hair, curling it around his index finger, just when you came out of the window.
“Let’s go!” you said to him, passing him by.
He said nothing, following you silently, the way up was easier for Eddie than for you, he was costumed to feel the effort and pain. Once at the top where the hue of lights made it look like some yellowy cloud rested at the very top of the buildings, Eddie pointed to his van, the car looked very small, it was kinda funny.
“You brought your van?” you asked, “and you painted it.”
Eddie felt embarrassed by that statement, “yeah,” his hand went to his neck, “I got new seats as well, it wasn't cheap but the gigs are paying off.” He grinned, pretty proud of the latter.
“Cool,”
Eddie opened his bag, pulling out a blanket, he expanded it flat, followed by a hand gesture for you to sit on the now covered surface, to be fair you didn’t mind the scene so you plopped on it, Eddie following suit, the whole feeling sent you back to summer, the very subtle smell of smoke and the first awkward interactions, it was a bit reassuring to see not everything was different.
“Music?” he asked, taking out a small cute little portable radio, a few mixtapes fell at your feet for you to choose.
“Nice, so… do you have any recommendations?” you avoided looking at his face because the whole thing was nerve wracking enough to add that pretty profile carved by the streetlights.
Eddie shrugged, pushing play to the cassette he had already on the radio.
“This one is Dustin’s, he has quite the eclectic style.”
The chorus of Never Ending Story started to blast from the speakers.
“Well, now that’s jolly.” Eddie mumbled and you started laughing at it, his eyes went to your face, you were practically holding your belly from laughter, Eddie with a grin tugging at the end of his lips started to place the snacks on display.
“Never thought of all the people to see you Eddie Munson listening to this. It’s priceless.”
“It’s not even my mix, Dustin recommended it and it happened to be half way through the song, I don’t even know what that is.”
“Yeah, sure, I think we’ve gone through this, you can admit it, I won’t tell anyone.” you bit your lips trying to seem convincing.
“I—okay I may have given it a listen… or two.”
Your laugh rumbled all over the rooftop, making it echo with the walls of nearby buildings. Eddie felt like maybe things would be okay after all between the two, your laughter was his favorite sound, he would never get over it.
Never Gonna Give You Up played next and the mocking continued, it was too pop-y for Eddie, he only felt his cheeks go extra hot.
“Damn, this tape is making me look so bad, hope you’re happy now y/n.”
The mention of your name caused the laugh to die slowly, “It kinda did… So what do we have here?”
Your eyes traveled all the way from the buildings forming the skyline to the various snack packages.
“Just a couple of goodies…gummy bears, some Oreos, and yeah, these good old drinks. A guy I met during the tour said these were nice, but I haven’t tried them yet so beware.”
You gulped, “so, you… kind of planned this?”
Eddie scratched his cheek with his slender ringed fingers, god you wanted to hold his hand so bad.
“Yes, I’ve planned loads of different things but this one seems the most appropriate. But if you want we can do something else, whatever you want we can do it.”
“No, this is fine, we can talk here.”
Eddie felt the nervousness crawling down his arms to the tips of his fingers, feeling clammy already, “yeah, so… you really want to talk with me? After… all?”
“Why not?” you half shrugged, ripping open a bag of gummy bears, “you said you liked me in the tape so I’m willing to listen to you, because I thought it was pretty obvious back then but in any case you missed the clues… I liked you too, I still like you, but you hurt me.”
Your eyes had been glancing around, near your worn out shoes, so when you looked up, gathering all the courage you could to face Eddie, he had his eyes closed so tightly it made you grimace a little.
“I know, I’m the worst, and I was truly the most horrible person ever. It means everything to me that you didn’t kick me out the moment you saw me in your house. Or right now, you would’ve just ignored me back at the window and I would’ve understood. Because Jesus! What a colossal idiot I am.”
“You’re not a colossal idiot… just a normal idiot.”
Eddie finally managed to trade a look with you, “fair enough I guess.”
You grinned. Eddie sighed, now what, he had apologized enough but you wanted something else so whatever that was he wanted to give it to you.
“Chrissy and I broke up… or–I don’t even know if we were really in a relationship, she was cool but as I said, you were occupying all my time, I felt so bad about what I did that I got caught up in my own heartache that I forgot about her and of course she had her own plans.”
Eddie mumbled about the whole Chrissy situation, you noticed that he hadn’t talked about it with anyone, because he didn’t stop for air, not he took in mind that he was talking to you about the girl he had chosen over you. It made your chest clench, yet you understood that Eddie, more than anything, needed a friend at that very moment.
“I know where the loyalty lies when it comes to our friends, of course they took your side. They were not easy on me, let me tell you that.” He pointed.
“Good.” You chuckled, Eddie understood, he smiled back.
“Yeah I deserve that, Dustin almost punched me on the face the day after he saw you crying that time outside of Family Video, he didn’t let me be part of the campaign for two sessions, is absolutely mental that kid, then we have Robin and Steve, I owe my uncle like twenty bucks because they kept on charging me for a ‘lost’ VHS I never rented, it was so infatuating until Sinclair told me what was happening with them, so if you think I haven’t paid for my sins, you’re very wrong, although I’d do that again if I knew you were going to sit with me on the rooftop of your apartment, drinking cheap beverages of dubious origin and candy, the skyline of Manhattan there and the most beautiful girl by my side.”
“You drove more than twelve hours just to tell me that?” you said, wondering if your intuition was working. You hoped you were playing it cool, because your heart was leaping in your ribcage.
Eddie scoffed, “yeah, it’s the least I could do, don’t you think…” He winced, “Listen, Y/n I meant every word in the tape, it’s been hectic for me; not only with you but with the band and during the tour I realized how much I wanted you to be there to share the whole experience… it’s not fancy but it’s exciting and I love it.”
It was impossible not to feel something for Eddie, he was vulnerable right there by your side, his arms surrounding his knees as if he was trying to protect himself from something, as if he knew you were going to hurt him and he was keeping his body and heart warded from the words you could say, but maybe he didn’t need to do that.
“I missed you too, you know?” you sighed, subtly getting closer to him, “it’s unlike me to get so attached to someone so fast, and these past months I’ve had no one other than Nancy and Robin to talk about the magazine and it felt bad to do this without telling you about it, because you were the one that came up with the idea, so… I guess I called the other day for permission and also because I do want Corroded Coffin in there…”
“You don’t owe me anything, really y/n. I told you about the magazine because I knew you’d be good at it, you are fucking amazing at everything if you ask me, you play guitar now-“
“Thanks to you, though.” you chuckled.
“I’m a great teacher, we’re not debating that, however, you learned in one freaking session, and now you have a proper project that it’ll only grow and become even greater than the damn Rolling Stone, mark my words because it’s happening.”
His stomach fluttered when you beamed at him, this could be one of the single most magical moments he has had in his life.
“So… what do we do with this?” you nudged him slightly.
Eddie gulped, he wanted everything from this, from you. “Whatever you want, I already told you how I feel, and I’m not going to be naive to believe you are forgiving me completely for what I did, which is totally okay. But if I could ask for something… It’d be to stay close to you, in any way or form you allow me to be.”
His shiny doe eyes, locked with yours, you weren’t exactly certain how things would work out for you, because you both had different plans for the future.
“I would like that too, Eddie.”
He sighed so loudly he started chuckling, “damn, that’s a relief. You have no idea how my hearts reacts whenever you call me Eddie, I fucking love it.”
“Eddie,” you whispered, he shoot you a warning look,
“Careful there,” his hand, cold rings and warm skin reached for your hand.
Eddie intertwined his fingers with yours, and it felt nice, you could melt there just by the soft touch and droopy smiles, you hadn’t touched any alcohol yet and you felt like flying. On the other hand Eddie felt like he was going to burst, this was way better than whatever image he had created and recreated in his brain during the past few days.
“Can we just go slow, like starting as friends… we don’t have to rush anything right? and, I know Corroded Coffin is still going strong and getting bigger, and I have to go to college but I think we can figure out how to make this work, if we– you know… date or something.”
Your eyes never leaving his, it was magnetic the way your faces were getting closer and closer by the minute.
“Okay,” Eddie’s breath fanned you on the cheek, gummy bear sweet. “Leaving all the logistics aside… Can I kiss you?”
“But friends don’t kiss.” you blinked, getting dangerously close.
“Just a friendly kiss then.” Eddie smirked.
Your noses brushed together, you couldn’t stop yourself, lips clashed a little too harshly maybe, your hands untangled just for yours to meet in Eddie’s neck, while Eddie’s found place in your cheek and the back of your head.
It wasn’t slow or cute, it was needy and hot. Eddie’s low grunt made you smile halfway through the kiss, it was all you needed, but you didn’t want it to stop, nor did the boy in front of you.
But oxygen was necessary to live.
“That was… friendly.” You whispered, still inches close to Eddie’s lips.
“It was… amazing.” unbidden and all he peaked you on the lips once more, “I could do this forever you know.”
His pupils were as wide as you guessed yours were.
“I’m gonna have to add kissing into the list of things we can do to hang out… as friends of course.” you said, seeing him light up like a puppy with a new toy.
“I second that notion.” He went on to kiss you again but you moved last minute, lips finding your cheek, immediately he furrowed his eyebrow “hey, I thought we said-“
A laugh escaped you, “trust me I want to keep on doing so but we need to talk about business here… Eddie.”
“Okay, but I’m going to need an incentive ever so often.”
You rolled your eyes at him, “a kiss and you transform into an annoying boy.”
“Uh, excuse me? It’s not my fault you have me all smitten, business sounds boring right now.” he pouted.
“Maybe one last kiss and then we can talk about the interview? Does it sound fair?”
“Yeah, totally fair.”
In a second Eddie balanced over you making you squeal and laugh, the kisses were now slower, taking time to savor every second you two had of the night, sighing and a few unbidden moans made each other giggle.
It was happiness right there. The talking after that was deeper and also childish, the interview thing got left for another time, what mattered the most was how you two felt safe and comfortable with one another on a rooftop in the middle of Queens.
Yes you were hesitant about the future and so was Eddie, there were so many plans and expectations from both but that moment was just you, Eddie, half eaten snacks, a can of something bubbly and sweet getting warm and your company.
Eddie left you by your window at five in the morning, he drove back to the hotel they were staying in, not being able to keep it cool, not able to sleep or try to, he took a shower and waited for the rest of the gang to wake up.
It was an easy lead for Dustin when he saw Eddie writing down in the tiny journal he always carried with him, a smug smile on his lips when Will asked what had happened.
“I’m the happiest man on earth!” His arms up in the air, he looked like he had won the lottery and he had, with you it was that way and ten times better.
Steve hugged Eddie and both shared a look, it was like proudness and happiness and just friendship brewing there.
“I’m really proud of you man, this is the easy part, now you need to keep her and yourself happy.”
Mike and Lucas hissed.
“Hey what’s that supposed to mean, I got this, idiots, don’t doubt me.” Eddie scoffed, clearly offended.
“It’s hard to have a long distance relationship, Eddie.” Dustin sat on the bed, his messy curls coming out from under his cap, “Something tells me y/n is going to be the one making it work, you are too emotionally dumb for that.”
“Well, I’m offended but nothing you say to me can ruin my day, so fuck you man!”
He said this with a grin on his face.
Robin, El and Max had you screaming through the phone the moment you saw Eddie leave in his van.
“You need to pay girls, told you this was going to happen, I know my friends pretty well.” Robin said but it didn’t bother you that they made a bet on your love life, you had gone through worse to be honest.
“Hey, hey as much as I love that you are making money at my expense, guys what’s the plan for today, should we just go all for it or… play it cool? Literally my lips hurt-“
“Ew” Robin said
“Aww,” El voiced.
“Put some vaseline on.” Max advised. “But if I were you I’d play it cool, I mean, Eddie probably is telling the boys about it right this moment.”
“True, so… just act normal? That’s what you are saying because I’ve been trying to keep my chill the whole night, I could roll on the damn floor right now and jump on my bed and jump out of the window any given minute but I’m sitting on my bed punching a pillow, this is fucking insane Max, I wanna grab Eddie and hug him forever and kiss him and hide my face in his chest and brush his air and-“ you grunted and punched the pillow again.
Fuck!
“She lost it.” Robin confirmed, “Y/n, honey listen! We got you, we’ll keep him occupied and you can do whatever the hell you want to him when you get alone, we don’t want to see you behave weirdly.”
“I’m a bit offended but okay.”
“He is going to write you lots of love songs, it’s so romantic. Mike barely expresses it, but it’s fine I still love him.” El complained, and you understood.
“Hopefully he’ll learn something.”
“Yeah, men are so oblivious.” Max came into the conversation.
Robin hummed.
Everyone sighed, each one thinking of their own love struggles.
Everyone arrived at yours midday, everyone was acting kinda weird. Glances getting exchanged, smirks and low giggles, you furrowed your eyebrows but it all came into place when you saw Eddie, like a force coming at you. You gasped when you noticed the two daisies in hand and the nicest smile you’ve seen.
The boys were all smug and the girls were giggling and squealing, it was truly a scene.
“Hi, these are for you.” Eddie’s poise back to what you knew him for, all flirty and confident. Looking extra hot with a sleeveless black shirt, the logo of a band you weren’t sure you knew about.
Biting the side of your cheek you muttered, “Thank you,” he kissed you on the cheek.
“He grabbed them from some random yard,” Mike shouted as he crossed the street.
“Dude…” Eddie whined. “Mike, seriously I’m gonna have to kick you out of the Hellfire club for a whole session if you try to humiliate me again.”
Mike rolled his eyes and huffed, “whatever.”
“It’s still nice, thanks.” you said to Eddie, he smirked, gaining his confidence back.
“Okay, stop staring weirdos, let’s fucking go get some comics!” Eddie exclaimed, taking your hand and started walking.
“You heard the man, let’s get going, don’t separate from the group, if anyone needs a bathroom break, water or food, let me know in advance because we need to find a place to do so.” Steve shouted, as the mom of the troop everyone nodded in agreement.
“Shit, that Harrington has talent.”
Eddie said to you as he looked back at the group, admiring how everyone followed Steve’s instructions as he stayed behind to watch the pack of teens at his supervision.
“He’s been doing that for years, funny how they had always followed him around like a big brother even if they didn’t like him at first.”
“I like him… not more than I like you though.” Eddie smiled, kissing the top of your head as his hand left yours free, placing his arm over your shoulders.
“Keep it PG 13 guys, please.” Robin begged from behind you.
Your thumb went up in the air, to reassure her. Eddie laughed at your side.
The day went easy as you guided them to the subway, Manhattan had them all gawking and taking pictures of each other on film cameras. Hot dogs on the street, Lucas made the ketchup explode all over his face and shirt, which was really funny for everyone. Forbidden Planet got the attention of all the boys, except Steve and the girls.
El though, seemed interested in everything her eye landed on.
Robin, Steve and you waited for them near the entrance, Eddie’s head popped out of an aisle every now and then to say hi to you, it never failed to make you beam.
“You are almost drooling y/n, this is unbelievable.” Steve said, shaking his head but he seemed happy for you. Nudging you with his arm, he smiled, “so… everything is fine with Munson now?”
“It’s good, we need to see how things go when you guys go back to Hawkins, but we’ll worry about it when the time comes.”
“Well said,” Robin made a pirouette as she looked at the ceiling, she was dead bored, “we need to pick up some tapes near here so that’s our next stop. Keith wanted to come but we convinced him to let us do it… well Steve did it, don’t ask me how but he made it work.”
Your eyebrows shut upwards. Now that was a first. Keith was known to talk shit behind Steve’s back and always made him work twice as hard, so the fact that Steve convinced him was the biggest achievement ever made in Family Video.
“How?” you looked at him with crossed arms, daisies a little sad now from the city’s heat.
Steve puffed, and brushed his hair to the side, “I won’t tell you it’s too embarrassing.”
“Now you have to tell us!” Robin jumped in front of him, too close.
“Tell us Steve…” you also stepped closer. You knew Steve didn’t like to feel he had no personal space.
“Get the hell away from me you crazy women. I won’t tell shit.”
“Aw come on! What if we can help you?” Robin insisted, if someone knew Steve that was Robin.
“It’s so humiliating…” Neither you nor robin yielded position. Steve grunted, giving up, “I swear if you don’t help me I’m gonna have to cave my own grave.” with a sigh and a grimace Steve pulled you and Robin closer as if he was going to tell you a big secret. “He… he wants me to host his annual summer Star Wars trilogy watch.”
“Oh dude, that's harsh for you.” You said, pitying your friend, you well knew his reputation was at stake, but you were mostly doing it for shits and giggles, and Robin caught up quick, trading a glance with you.
“That’s not all of it…”
Robin gasped, clearly adding more drama to the whole situation. You had to fake a cough to cover your laugh.
“Keith practically forced me to sign a paper to assure him I’m doing it and that I’m bringing enough people … which if you know me that’s easy because I know a lot of people but the problem is who the hell would want to spend a whole day watching that? you know? It’s crazy.” Squealed, huffing, running a hand over his hair again.
“But you’re doing it.” Robin pointed
“Yes… I have no other option, have I?” He rolled his eyes at the obviousness of the statement.
“Well you got me and Vickie, I bet the kids will go anyway and Eddie and his friends too…”
“And I’ll go,” You smiled.
Both of them turning your way “what? Didn’t I tell you I’m coming for the summer?”
“You did not!” Robin pointed and immediately jumped to hug you.
“God fucking bless, the three musketeers back together!” Steve joined the hug and kissed both of your heads. “It’s gonna be amazing, and you’re saving me from Keith’s rage, I’m winning this summer, I can feel it”
The rest of the day was you following Steve and Robin around a VHS store as they picked up the latest films that had come out in the last few months, ready to get delivered to Hawkins' Family Video store. After that it all went smooth and nice, ice cream stops, Central Park walks and Steve smiling at girls who were not very interested in him.
The following two days, were a mix of sweaty bodies laughing while commuting in the subway to the most touristic and crowded spots in New York City, on other occasions you’d have avoided going out at all coast but everyone was having the greatest time, and Eddie was being the sweetest most caring boy in the whole world, even Dustin and Mike commented on the weirdness of his behavior but of course they would, they’ve only seen him behave like the freak they knew at school or the too cool to care-boy in the rock band , it was a bit of a shocker to you too whenever he kissed your cheek and intertwined his fingers with yours.
He didn’t care to show some PDA, Eddie loved everything about being with you, near you, it was as if he needed to show the world how much he cared and appreciated every second he was able to spend in your presence; skin touching and lips pressing together, he was not going to let any stupid teenager try and make himself feel self-conscious about his actions, he was beyond that, it took him long enough to be in that moment so why not enjoy it as much as he could, Eddie had limited time with you, until he had to go back to real life.
Unfortunately the weekend came to an end, with bags filled with comics, classic I <3 NYC shirts, instant photos, souvenirs and an uneven tan, the whole Hawkins gang was going back home. You and Robin cried just a little as you clung to the other, Steve patting both of your backs, he already familiarized with the dynamic of the farewell. There were only going to be a few more weeks until summer but that didn’t make it any less sad, Steve sniffed too when he clashed his body against you.
For some reason you had learned to love Steve’s hugs, they were always so full of love and it made you feel protected, always smelling nice but he had a little too tight of a grip. Steve kissed your forehead as he stepped back, the teens went and formed a line to give you their respective goodbyes. Will handed you a freshly drawn image of you and Eddie holding hands. Your chest squeezed with love and admiration at his talent. On the other hand you had Dustin giving you a coupon he and Eddie had won after all the nerdy stuff they bought at Forbidden Planet. Twenty percent off in your next visit, you were definitely not going back but a sharp look from the teen made you reconsider it. And it was annoying.
“I don’t promise anything… but maybe if I get a nice Christmas present I can pass by.”
“Here we go again, back to the same thing, yeah Y/n okay I’ll give you a nice gift, now please can you–just get me something else from there?.” Dustin said exasperated
“Alright fine,” Dustin smiled at you and went to spit on the palm of his hand, extending it to you.
“Yeah I’m not doing that, you have my word, though.”
Dustin nodded with a giggle and sparkly eyes, he cleaned his palm over his jeans, “and you have mine, now I leave you to loverboy… guess who is going to have to deal with his love nonsense when we get back? yeah me, so I want good comics y/n… anyway I guess we’ll see ya in a few weeks, take care!”
Max hugged you and promised she’d show you how to skate during the summer. El gave you a little pepper with her dress so you could write to her whenever you wanted, and you gave her yours just in case.
Last but obviously not least was Eddie, the boy leaning on his van, a smug smile on his face as he watched you say goodbye to everyone, he nibbled at his bottom lip once you started to approach him.
“What is it?” you asked, pushing his shoulder.
Eddie laughed, immediately placing his hands on your waist. “I’m just trying to remember everything, we have a long wait ahead.” he shrugged, he was not ready to leave, he didn’t want to be so far from you but deep down he knew he’d be rewarded for his patience, still he needed to hide his face in the croak of your neck for a second to try and gain some willpower to drive away.
You squealed when Eddie kissed the spot between your neck and jaw, he was gentle enough to make your skin tickle but the touch was causing a commotion in your belly. And yes he knew.
Just as you knew how he felt when you touched the sides of his face and kissed him on the lips.
“How am I going to be able to leave you when you kiss me and hold me like this… Christ! it’s going to be fucking nightmare!” He shouted to the skies.
“We can do this! you have my phone number and… we can talk.”
“You’re going to be so sick of me when you come to Hawkins… I can feel it.”
“I am already tired,” you heard Robin complain from afar.
You snorted, “just focus on the band.”
Eddie's eyes widened, “we didn’t talk about the interview.. shit!” his forehead clashed with yours gently.
“We can wait a little longer, I have a few other pieces I could add… but that interview is definitely happening.”
“Wasn’t expecting less from my girl.”
Your heart somersaulted at the last words, the flush coming for your whole face, so you looked down at your hands, the ones Eddie took a second later, one of his rings missing. Your eyebrows furrowed, but the silver ring appeared in your line of vision, Eddie holding it up for you to see.
“I want you to have this,” you took it between your thumb and index finger, watching it shine under the burning sunlight, it made you smirk. “Yeah I know what you’re gonna say, it is a bit mushy still I want you to have something mine while we wait to see each other again.”
Cheeks going full on red, Eddie scratched his cheek, he did feel embarrassed however this was some kind of oath for things to work in your favor.
“I’ll take care of it,” you mumbled, it was quite big to wear it but you could find a clever way to carry it around.
“I know, so… see you in a few weeks, okay?”
“Yes, drive carefully.”
“Call you when we get there.”
Eddie leaned down to kiss you, it wasn’t rushed, on the contrary, it was sweet and delicate, you felt his hair tickling your neck.
“Jesus, this is going to be so hard.” Eddie whined, kissing you again.
“Okay that’s enough guys, we need to go.” Steve yelled from the window of his car.
Eddie rolled his eyes, taking the opportunity you peaked him on the lips one more time.
“Good thing we were talking this slowly, huh?” Eddie said, with that smug expression as he poked you on the shoulder, “for the record I’m not complaining.”
“Well sorry, maybe I shouldn’t kiss you then.”
“I was joking!”
“Eddie!” Mike, Lucas, and Dustin shouted from the back of the van. Will laughing at everyone.
“One last kiss, and I’ll be off, promise.” and you gave the boy what he wanted, he hummed as he deepened the kiss a little.
“Now go or I won’t let you get in that damn van.”
Waving hands out of the car window, Robin’s half body out of the copilot seat, and everyone slowly disappeared down the road, the music Eddie put in his van vanished as he drove away.
Jumping, squealing and giggling you entered your apartment. Your mom was reading, she threw you a look, she hadn’t said much since you’ve been out the whole weekend. But it was obvious she knew something had shifted, mom’s always knew somehow.
“So… I’m guessing you’re going with your aunt’s for the summer?”
You nodded, trying to hide a smile.
“I already told your aunt. Only rule, no boys in the room.”
“Of course not, I’m not that forward, I barely let Eddie kiss me.”
Your mom widened her eyes, “Oh, so you are official! I’m so happy for you sweetheart, wow, that was so fast.” she got up and hugged you as if you had achieved the grandest of awards.
“Mom!” you giggled but slowly loosened the hug, her hands found place around your face.
“Tell him I can cut his hair whenever he wants, that boy Mike also needs a bit of a haircut and Will too, poor boy who keeps on cutting his hair like that.”
“Don’t know but  I’ll let them know.”
You sighed, it felt like a release from all the emotions you’ve been experiencing, ready to let the next couple of weeks pass as fast as they could.

Tonight was going to be amazing! Steve had invited everyone over for a summer kickoff party, there would be pizza, swimming, beer, and good company. Robin and you had gotten to Steve’s early to help set things up, pizzas were on the way, and you were just waiting for everyone to show up now.
First to arrive was Nancy, she had driven over with Mike, Lucas, Max, and Dustin. They had come bounding in with arms full of chips and soda, piling them recklessly on the coffee table. The younger kids were arguing about who got the bathroom first to change.
You couldn’t help but laugh and roll your eyes as you made your way to the door, letting in the next group. You had assumed it would be Johnathan, Argyle, and the rest of the kids, but instead, Eddie was standing in the doorway.
“Hey Eds!” You smiled.
“Hey! How’s my best girl?” Eddie pulled you into his arms and lifted you slightly as he spun you around. “I’ve missed you dude.”
“I’m good Eds. I’ve missed you too!” Your heart clenched slightly as he placed you back on your feet.
Your relationship with Eddie had always been like this. You were best friends, but sometimes, things were done or said that seemed a bit more than friendly. You’d stayed more nights with Eddie this last year than you did in your own home. Robin had pestered you about the status of your relationship with him to which you’d always reply; “We’re just friends, he doesn’t see me that way”.
“So, I know the kids are here, but I brought a little something special for us. I figured we could go to the van, take a few hits then come back in.” Eddie said wagging a joint in front of you.
“Eddie!” You hissed, covering the joint. “You can’t just pull that out. But yes, give me fifteen minutes.”
Eddie tucked the joint back into his jacket pocket and watched as you made your way over to Steve, Nancy, and Robin. Robin gave you a knowing look and you brushed her off. You were all catching up for a bit, laughing at the nonsense the kids were getting up to. Eddie was the one to open the door for Jonathan, Argyle, El, and Will. As they all walked in, Eddie came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist and rested his chin on your head.
“You ready?” Eddie whispered.
You nodded and let him lead you outside to his van. Climbing in the back, you made yourself comfortable amongst the pile of blankets and pillows, all the while, Eddie lit the joint and placed it to his lips. After a few quick puffs and one long drag, Eddie passed it to you. The two of you passed the joint back and forth for a bit before it was nearly gone.
“Do you want the last hit?” Eddie asked.
“Nah it’s cool, you take it.” You leaned your head back.
“We could always share it.” Eddie said with a sly smirk.
“Okay.” You blushed.
Eddie took a long drag, holding it in as he moved towards you. He brought his lips to yours, only separated by a few millimeters. Your lips parted in a gasp, and he blew the smoke into your mouth. You inhaled sharply, allowing the smoke in. Your mind felt hazy, and you were starting to wonder if it was the weed or the lack of space between Eddie and you. Eddie met your eyes and pulled back slightly, clearing his throat.
What the hell was happening?
The two of you made your way back into the house and took turns changing into your bathing suits. You rushed outside and went to sit on the steps of the pool with Robin and Nancy. Each of whom gave you a pointed look.
Eddie made a stop in the kitchen to grab you a coke and an orange soda for himself, he then made his way outside. He sat the two cans in front of where you were sitting with the girls, the next thing you knew he was jumping into the pool, splashing the three of you, eliciting screeches from you three.
He surfaced and swam over to you, settling himself between your legs which were dangling off the step. His chest pressed against yours as he reached behind you to grab his soda. Your breath was caught in your throat.
Had he always been this beautiful?
Who were you kidding. Of course he had.
The night went on like this. The kids swimming, playing a ridiculous game of Marco-Polo, Steve grilling hamburgers and hotdogs, Eddie treating you like far more than a friend.
Now you were all crammed in Steve’s living room, some movie playing in the background. You couldn’t remember the name of it because you were far too distracted. When you had come into the living room, all the good seats had been taken, and instead of letting you sit on the floor, Eddie had pulled you into his lap and wrapped his arms around your middle.
You had been sitting like this for about half an hour before he made the suggestion.
“Do you want to go back to my place?”
This typically wouldn’t have sounded like a line, but given everything that had occurred today, you couldn’t help but feel like his words held deeper meaning.
“Okay.”
Tumblr media
He led you into the trailer, just like any other time you’d been here, only this time there was a tension hanging over you.
More like sexual tension.
Jesus, get a hold of yourself.
Entering Eddie’s room brought forth a wave of anticipation, you couldn’t help but feel like something was about to happen. Eddie walked over to you and handed you one of his Iron Maiden shirts and a pair of his boxers.
It’s now or never.
You locked your eyes on Eddie’s as you slowly removed your tank top and shorts, leaving you clad in only your bathing suit. Eddie took a sharp breath and pulled his shirt over his head. Up until now things felt as though they’d been moving in slow motion, then all of a sudden things switched to fast forward.
Eddie lunged towards you and locked his lips onto your own, your hands finding his curls, his finding the ties to your swimsuit. His lips tasted like orange soda and nicotine, he was addicting, and you knew you’d never be able to give this up.
Tumblr media
Eddie woke up and glanced over to see your naked form curled up in his bed. He couldn’t believe it, the two of you had taken that leap, this would change everything between you.
This could change everything.
I can’t afford to lose her.
You stirred awake, noticing your lack of clothing, and taking note of the discarded clothing on the floor.
So that really did happen.
This could change everything!
“Hey.” Eddie said quietly.
“Hey.” You blushed.
You sat up holding the sheet to your chest and turning to meet Eddie’s gaze. Something was off about his expression, he seemed somber, and you were terrified to find out why.
“So, uh…” Eddie turned, breaking eye contact. “We should just forget this ever happened; you know. So, it doesn’t fuck up our friendship.”
Please say you don’t want to forget about it.
Of course he doesn’t want me.
“Oh, uh, yeah. I guess you’re right.”
Of course she doesnt want me.
You stood and quickly began pulling your clothes on and gathering your things. There was this loud ringing in your ears and you’re sure Edie was calling your name, but all you knew was you needed to get out of there.
You were halfway home before the ringing stopped.
How could you be so stupid.
Then the tears started. Not only had your heart been broken by the man you loved, but you also lost the one person you’d want to hold you while you cried.
Tumblr media
“Dude what is up with you? You’ve been super weird since Steve’s summer kick-off party.” Robin pestered.
“Yeah she’s right, plus Eddie’s been extra bitchy, which usually only happens when you haven’t seen one another in a while. I thought for sure you guys were gonna hookup that night.” Steve ranted.
Your face turned a bright shade of red and you let your gaze fall to your lap. You knew you weren’t exactly being discreet with your avoidance of Eddie, but you didn’t’ think they’d call you out directly.
“Holy shit! You two had sex!” Robin shouted, smacking you on the arm.
“Ow! Yes, we did. And it ruined everything. The next morning, he suggested we just forget it ever happened.”
“What? No way, Eddie’s head over heels for you. What happened?” Steve asked.
You explained to Steve and Robin the events of the night and they both concluded that it made no sense. They were both convinced Eddie was in love with you.
This was when Steve and Robin came up with their plan. They would get you and Eddie together before summer ended.
Tumblr media
“Steve, this isn’t working. She is declining every invite to hangout; she has gone as far as driving over and leaving if she sees the van, and even calling everyone to be sure if Eddie was invited.” Robin said throwing herself on the couch in defeat.
“That’s it! We will invite her over for a movie night, just the three of us. Then after she’s here, you go to the other room and call Eddie and invite him over. That way nobody will be able to tell her that he’s invited because he wasn’t.” Steve explained.
Tumblr media
“Hey guys!” You called entering Steve’s house.
“Hey! How have you been? We haven’t seen you in a while.” Robin pulled you into a hug.
“Sorry about that, I just…I can’t bring myself to face him yet. I’ll get over it, I just need time.” You said.
Steve came in, greeting you and pulling you to the living room to help him pick a movie. He threw a wink over his shoulder to Robin. She rolled her eyes and made her way to Steve’s dad’s office ready to make the call. When she came to the living room she played it off as a trip to the bathroom.
Things were going well, they felt like old times, save for the hole in your chest in the shape of one, Eddie Munson.
Speaking of which.
“Hey guys!” Eddie greeted, entering the house.
“Guys, what the hell.” You said threw gritted teeth.
They both looked at you with guilty eyes. You shook your head and told them you needed to go. Grabbing your bag you went for the door. It took everything in you to not look at him.
“Hey, where are you going?” Eddie called after you, following you outside. “I haven’t seen you in weeks. You’re dodging my calls, your canceling plans, you’re literally leaving as I showed up to hang out.”
“Eddie, I can’t do this right now. I need to go.”
“So what? That’s it?” He had never sounded so defeated.
“Eddie, I…”
“Is this because of that night? C’mon you’re my best friend, you’re just gonna throw that all away?” He grasped your hand in his own.
“That’s the problem Eddie, I can’t be your friend anymore. Everything is different now.” You shook your head, pulled your hand from his grasp, and took off walking back home.
Eddie walked back into the house and immediately receive a slap to the back of the head from Robin. She and Steve proceeded to explain to Eddie how he had messed the whole thing up and how him suggesting you just “forget it ever happened” had led you to believe that he didn’t care about you.
Initially he didn’t believe them that you had feelings for him, but after they literally spelled it out for him, he realized what an idiot he had been.
“I’m gonna need your help.”
Tumblr media
The plan had been a pretty difficult one, Eddie needed Robin and Steve to convince you to come over again for an end of summer bash and after the last time, he was sure you’d say no.
Robin had explained to you that after your conversation with Eddie, that he definitely wouldn’t be coming. She told you that she asked him, and he had declined. It was then that you agreed, but not without a pang of guilt filling your chest. You couldn’t stand the thought of hurting Eddie. The look on his face when you told him you couldn’t be his friend had been haunting you.
The day came and you drove over to Steve’s, shocked that the only car in the driveway had been his. You parked and let yourself in.
“Steve? Where is everyone?”
“Hey! I’m in my room, and they’re on their way I figured you could come early so I could see how you were doing.” Steve said.
You walked into his room and noticed he was seemingly searching for something, he was scrambling around his room, swiftly moving to his dresser as you made yourself comfortable on his bed. You looked over at him just in time to see a mess of curls enter and Steve pulling the door closed. You heard the lock click and the distinct sound of a chair being pushed against the knob.
“What the hell is this?”
“I needed to find a way to talk to you and you’ve been avoiding me.”
“Eddie, let me out.”
“Not until we talk. Look I fucked up that night, I suggested that we forget about it and that was stupid.” He exclaimed.
“Eds, look, I just need time…these feelings will go away eventually. I don’t want to lose you as a friend, but how am I supposed to be around you when I’ve tasted your kiss and will never get to experience that again?”
“I don’t want your feelings to go away. Truth is, I only suggested it because I thought there was no way you could love me back.” Eddie explained.
“You love me?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Eddie pulled you into a gentle kiss, wrapping his arms around your waist. You let your fingers get tangled in his hair. There were whispered apologies between kisses and you two only broke apart when the two of you needed air.
“How would you like to go get some dinner?” Eddie asked.
“I would love that!” You replied.
With that, Eddie walked over to the bedroom door and began knocking, shouting to Steve that he was safe to let you guys out. His knocks sped up the longer it took for Steve to release you both.
“Harrington, hurry up! I gotta take my girlfriend on our first date!”

Nothing New
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader
Summary: Yours and Eddie’s friendship was fine. And you were fine with just being that. But then the new girl came along. (Angst with a happy ending)
Word Count: 4051
Eddie Masterlist
Tumblr media
You’ve been best friends with Eddie Munson ever since your freshman year and you joined Hellfire with Jeff. It had been an almost instant connection with the at the time junior. He likes to joke that he’s failed senior year so many times just so he can graduate with you. And with how well he’s doing in his classes this time around it’s getting harder to tell that it’s a joke. Him and the guys were really the only friends you had, though you’re partially convinced that that’s just because you were in their club and as soon as you all graduated you’d only ever see them when you see Corroded Coffin play or Eddie drags you to a practice.
You knew Eddie was actually a friendship that would last. From the moment you told him you liked whatever band shirt he had on all those years ago he latched onto you. He was constantly making the plans for the two of you to hang out one on one and telling you when each of the bands' shows were as soon as they booked one. He went out of his way all the time to weasel his way into your life and you couldn’t be happier about it. He was the first genuine friend you’ve ever had besides Robin who’s basically a sister to you.
“Have you guys met the new girl yet?” Jeff asks as you and Eddie get to the table.
“There’s a new girl?” Eddie pulls out your chair and you shoot him a smile in thanks before sitting down and scooting it close to the table.
“Yeah, she’s cool. We invited her to sit with us today.” Adam shrugs and takes another bite of his food.
“Oh! Maybe we’ll finally get another girl to join!”
“What, you don’t like being surrounded by immature hormonal boys all the time?” Eddie teases, nudging your shoulder with his own.
“Oh definitely not, and their leader is the worst of them all.” You tease him right back laughing and earning a piece of his trail mix getting flicked at your cheek.
“Hey guys!” You look away from Eddie at the sound of the voice coming from the girl who just stopped at the table. She’s dressed in a Judas Priest shirt, ripped jeans, and a plaid flannel with a few chain necklaces and rings adorning her neck and hands.
Jeff and Garreth move down a seat so she can sit at the corner by Eddie. He doesn’t look her way until she pulls her chair in, he had been too busy studying you but the scraping of the chair brings his attention to her. You watch as his face lights up as he recognizes the band shirt and your heart falls, it breaks a little really. You’ve been living in this fantasy that even though you and Eddie were so different he’d still feel the same way about you that you did him. But this girl seems like she’d just be absolutely perfect for him.
“Hey, I’m Ember.” She gives the two of you a little wave. Of course she would also have a badass name. And when Eddie smiles wide at her you wish you could just disappear into the floor.
“You like Judas Priest?” It was such an Eddie thing to completely ignore introducing himself to talk about music.
“Oh yeah, one of my favorite bands. You like them?”
“They’re great! I’m Eddie.” He holds out his hand and she takes it a little too enthusiastically and with a flirty little smile you'll scoff at later when you’re getting ready to scream into your pillow. You look away from them to find Mike and Dustin walking towards the table. You smile and wave at them, getting excited waves back. You’ve grown attached to the two boys and Lucas since the start of the year. You look at them as younger brothers and you’ve started inviting them over for family dinners since your mom loves to cook for way more than just two people since your dad works nights most times.
“Hey guys!”
“Hey Y/n.” They speak in unison before taking their seats.
“Oh, hey.” Dustin says to Ember as he notices her. “Are you joining Hellfire?”
“I would but I don’t actually know how to play Dungeons and Dragons. Just thought you guys would make some cool friends after meeting Jeff and Adam.”
“I could teach you to play?” Eddie offers and your smile falters for a fraction of a second.
“Really? That would be great!”
Eddie talks to Ember most of lunch leaving you to sit with your head in your hand while you eat. He barely even notices when you move to sit in between the freshmen so they can tell you all about their science project. You look over at them every so often and immediately hate yourself for it each time. Dustin notices though and tries his hardest to keep a smile on your face and keep your attention on him and Mike. The other boys take a liking to Ember immediately with Garreth and Jeff fighting for her attention but she seems to only want to give it to Eddie.
“Y/n.”
“Yeah?” You look up at Eddie laughing at a joke Dustin had just told you when you hear him call out for you.
“You still coming with me to band practice later?”
“You’re in a band? That’s so cool!” Ember speaks before you can respond and you’re ready for him to forget that he even asked you a question so you turn your attention back to Dustin.
“Yeah you should come see us perform sometime. Y/n?”
“If you still want me there absolutely.” You shrug, glancing back over at him.
“Can’t practice without our mascot.” He winks at you with that dumb goofy smile on his face and your hearts slowly starts to melt back together.
You get a ride home with Steve later instead of going with Eddie claiming you needed to study so he couldn’t come over like he normally would until it was time to head to practice. He hadn’t even realized what you said until you were already getting into Steve’s car with Robin and it was too late to ask you about it. He normally was over even if you had to study, he’d study with you so it didn’t make sense for him to not go to your house. He couldn’t confront you about it though because he had been planning a day to start teaching Ember how to play Dnd when you came up to the van and rushed it out of your mouth.
You didn’t study when you got home, instead you put on your favorite Beatles album and went through your memory box. Thinking of all the good times you’ve had with Eddie helps reassure you that even if he ends up with Ember he’ll still be your best friend. You had been worried that with her around everyone would just grow tired of you and you’d fade into the background until you weren’t even a second thought in their minds. It’s what’s happened with every other friendship you’ve ever had once you lost all novelty when someone else showed up.
When Eddie shows up later you’re singing along to Dolly Parton and organizing your desk. He has to admit you look to be in a better mood than earlier when you all but ran away from him. He almost didn’t want to disturb your peace but he was already running late and standing in your doorway admiring you wasn’t helping.
“You ready to go?” You jump at the sound of his voice, hand flying to your chest.
“You scared me, Eds! Just let me grab a sweater and I’ll be ready.” As you stand up he notices that you’ve changed clothes since school let out. Your long sleeved shirt and pants have been switched out for a tight tank top and some shorts. You grab the oversized white sweater that Eddie had gotten you in the winter because he thought you would look like a puff ball in it and throw it on before sitting back down to shove your feet into your shoes.
“Sorry Sweetheart, didn’t mean to scare ya.” Eddie enters your room to turn your stereo off before holding out his hands to pull you out of the seat. “Now come on slowpoke, we're already late.”
“Oh and whose fault is that?” You tease as you let him drag you through your house.
“Yours obviously. Bye Mrs. Y/l/n!”
“Bye kids have fun!”
“We will ma! I’ll be home before nine!” You yell out for her as Eddie pulls you out of your door before he stops you and pokes his head back in.
“Maybe just before ten!” His words cause your mom to laugh as he shuts the door. “What are you standing around for, let's go!” You laugh as he shoves you by your shoulders the whole way to his van.
When the two of you pull up and exit the van you spot Ember already standing in the garage talking to Jeff.
“Hey guys, Ember wanted to check us out. Hope that was okay.”
“Yeah that’s cool.” Eddie shrugs before heading over to tune up his guitar. You offer a wave to her and head over to your regular seat in the corner. She smiles at you and waves back before walking over to talk to Eddie which has you rolling your eyes. After a bit you see Eddie gesture your way and she’s heading over to sit in the seat next to you.
“Hi, I’m Y/n. We didn’t really get to meet at lunch earlier.” You turn to look at her after a minute of silence.
“It’s nice to meet you, the boys have actually told me a little about you.”
“Really?” She nods before her attention is on the band who started playing. It warms your heart that they talked about you to her. Soon enough your attention is on the long haired dork playing his guitar and singing their newest song just loud enough for it to carry over the music.
“They’re really good!”
“Aren’t they? I love listening to them perform.”
“Eddie’s really amazing.”
“Yeah, he is.” You smile as you watch him do his little head bags while he plays.
“Are you two like a thing?”
“What?”
“Like are you dating?” She glances over at you as she reasks.
“Oh, no he’s just my best friend.”
“That’s good to hear.” Your heart falls to the pit of your stomach as she looks back over to admire Eddie. Of course she’d be going after your best friend instead of one of the other guys, he’s the coolest, sweetest guy you know.
Later on the way home you’re oddly quiet. Normally you’d tell Eddie how well he played or how much you loved the new song they were practicing but you didn’t even sing along when Eddie put on the mixtape he made you full of your favorite songs so you’d have them in his van. This left Eddie to have a confused frown on his face the whole drive and everytime he glanced over at you your head was turned away from him looking out the window. When he parks the van outside of your house you thank him for the ride in a small voice and hop out before he can say anything to you. Eddie purses his lips as he watches you walk around the van before shaking his head.
“Nope, uh-uh.” He gets out and follows you down the walkway until he can grab your wrist to stop you from going any farther. “What’s wrong? You’ve been off almost all day, are you okay?”
“I just haven’t been feeling the best today, Eds. I think I just need some sleep or something. I’ll probably be feeling better tomorrow.”
“Okay.” He pulls you into a hug and rests his chin on the top of your head. “Get lots of rest tonight Sweetheart because I’ll be here bright and early tomorrow to pick you up so we can go over some stuff before Ms. O’Donnell’s test. I miraculously have a C and I’d like to keep it that way.”
“Alright, bye Eds.”
He doesn’t show up the next morning, at least not while you’re still home that is. When it started to get a little late and you knew that if he was going to show that you’d be late you just got a ride from Steve since Robin was running late herself. You’re not sure why Eddie didn’t show, but you do know that you didn’t get a phone call or anything from him like you normally would if something came up. And later when you’re talking to Robin outside of the school when Eddie's van pulls into a spot with a screech and then he and Ember climb out of it you can’t help but feel like your greatest fear of losing Eddie’s attention because someone else lit up the room is coming true.
“Hey, don’t worry about it okay? I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation for this right? I mean Eddie’s almost always attached to you, there’s no way he would ditch you for some chick who dresses like him.” Robin tries to calm you down as if she knows the thoughts swimming through your head. You quickly look away from your best friend as his head swivels around trying to spot you.
“I’m gonna head to class Robs, go over some more notes. I’ll see you later.” You rush into the school hoping to avoid Eddie and Ember for now.
“Hey, you weren’t home when I swung by to get you.” Eddie says as he sits next to you. You glance up at him from your notes.
“Oh, I got a ride from Steve because Robin was running late and I wasn’t sure if you were still coming. I didn’t want to risk being late for the test.”
“Sorry about that.” He scratches the back of his neck. “I slept in a little later than I wanted to and then as I was on my way out the door Ember called because her car was having trouble starting, I’m pretty sure her battery’s dead.”
“It’s fine Eds, I made it on time didn’t I?” You send a fake smile his way before turning your attention back to your notes.
“Hey speaking of Ember I’m gonna start teaching her how to play Dnd today after school so I might have to move movie night back a bit. You could come with me if you want.”
“Oh, that’s fine Eddie. Robin and I are gonna go to that new music store after school before her shift anyway. I’ll just hang out at Family Video till she’s done.” You shrug nonchalantly even though Eddie basically canceling movie night, which you know will end up happening because he gets so into Dnd, makes you feel completely awful.
“I can pick you up from there on my way over from Embers because I’ll have to pass it anyway?”
“We can just postpone Eds, really it’s fine. I’ll probably just listen to whatever new albums I get or maybe go over Robins.” You shoot him another fake smile before turning towards the front of the room.
“Okay.” Eddie wants to say more, figure out why you’re so adamant on just canceling when he just wanted to come over maybe thirty minutes later but Ms. O’Donnell is starting to hand out the tests and you have your game face on.
The two of you don’t hang out Saturday or Sunday either. Eddie called to tell you that he wouldn’t be over Saturday because he didn’t actually teach Ember much of anything when he was over so you told him you couldn’t hang out Sunday because you were picking up a shift and then immediately called Robin and asked her if you could come into work then. And then on Monday you don’t even bother sitting next to Eddie for very long at lunch, moving to sit in between Dustin and Mike as soon as they show up. He asked where you were going when you stood up but you had held up your walkman and told him you promised Dustin you’d show him the new AC/DC album. You’re not even that shocked when Eddie doesn’t call you that night like he normally would. He was probably at Embers not teaching her how to play because when you asked him if she’s catching on he gets all shy about how he’s barely gotten her to create a character.
“I don’t think I’m gonna go to Hellfire tomorrow.” You admit to Robin in gym on Tuesday causing her to gasp.
“Y/n are you feeling okay? You never miss it, you love that silly little game too much.”
“I know but I think everyone would just have a better time if Ember took my place this week. And if it works out she can have it the rest of the year, I’m sure I can play with the kids when their friend Will finally finishes moving back.”
“I think you’re being a little dramatic. I mean leaving Hellfire? You can’t be feeling that left out can you?”
“Garreth, Jeff, and Adam don’t talk to me as much anymore and Eddie’s been canceling plans to hang out with her.”
“No, don't do that, you canceled the plans on Sunday before there could even be plans.”
“Because I need to start distancing myself now before he inevitably gets completely tired of me like everyone else I’ve ever tried to be friends with.” You throw your hands in the air as you pace in front of her before stopping and turning your whole body to face her. “Except for you of course.”
“Yeah you’re stuck with me forever which means you’re also stuck with Steve forever. We’ll be the three amigos. And you know what, being stuck with Steve means you’re also stuck with all the rugrats because he’s like their mom or something.” You laugh and bring her into a hug.
“You always know how to cheer me up, Robs.”
“Where’s your Hellfire shirt?” Eddie asks when he sees you at lunch on Wednesday. He hadn’t seen you till then since you got a ride with Steve again and you didn’t have any classes together that day but the short sleeved shirt you had on instead was the first thing he noticed.
“Oh, I’m not coming tonight.”
“What?” All conversation at the table goes silent as the guys all stop what they’re doing and look at you.
“Something came up and I can’t come.”
“Y/n we can’t play without you, you’re one of our strongest players. We’re supposed to go up against the bad guy tonight.” Garreth says slumping in his seat at the thought of you not being there.
“Yeah, we need your lucky nat twenties.”
“You don’t even have a sub.” Eddie points the pretzel stick he was eating at you.
“I do though, Ember could take my place tonight.”
“What?” The girl in question looks shocked. “No, I couldn’t.”
“Of course you could, Eddie’s been teaching you how to play and once you start it’ll all come naturally.” You reassure her before your eyes catch onto Lucas making his way to the basketball table. “I’ll be right back. I need to ask Lucas something.”
“Henderson, Wheeler, what do you know about Y/n not coming to Hellfire tonight?” Eddie leans towards the two boys as they sit down. They share a look as if asking the other if they should tell Eddie before Mike spits a cover story out.
“She’s going to some party with Steve and Robin I think.”
“So she’s ditching us for Harrington?” Dustin can see the hurt in his friend's eyes.
“I’m pretty sure it’s mainly for Robin, she was the one to invite her. Y/n and Steve aren’t even that good of friends.” He nervously chuckles and hits Mikes leg for the stupid lie he came up with as Eddie leans back in his seat watching you laugh with Lucas.
“I can excuse it for Robin. What do you say Ember, you ready to jump in and play?”
“Oh, uh I guess so.” She blushes knowing she’s not going to be any good at this.
Hellfire doesn’t last very long that night, Ember sucks and it’s like she didn’t listen to anything Eddie had told her about the game previously and all anyone could do was complain that you weren’t there. So Eddie ended the meeting an hour into it, dropping the kids off at their homes before making his way to your house hoping to catch you coming home later. He’s a little shocked to find your bedroom light on indicating you’re home already since it’s so early. After not getting an answer knocking on the front door he climbs up to your window. You jump at hearing it slide open and quickly sit up from where you were lying on your bed.
“Well well well look who isn’t out there partying tonight.” Eddie climbs through your window.
“Eddie? What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at Hellfire?”
“We had to stop early, pretty sure we’re just gonna start where we left off last week again next week because we barely made any progress.”
“Oh.”
“What are you doing here? Avoiding me some more?”
“I’m not avoiding you.” You scooch yourself off of the bed to walk past him and shut the window.
“Yes you are and you haven’t been yourself lately either so what’s been going on?”
“Nothing you need to worry about Eddie. So you don’t even need to pretend okay?”
“What? Y/n I-”
“I know you’re getting tired of me okay! I know that now that Ember’s around I’m nothing new and you’re all going to move on and leave me behind because that’s what always happens. When there’s not anything exciting about me anymore and a new face shows up people leave me in the dust and I can feel all of you starting to do that.” You wrap your arms around yourself and step away from Eddie.
“Tired of you?” His voice is full of disbelief as he watches you and hesitantly steps forward. “Y/n, Sweetheart, I could never be tired of you. Everyday with you is like an adventure.” He takes another step and gently holds onto your wrists to pull them away from your body. “Everyday it’s like I discover a new facial expression from you, a new smile, I get a new song to listen to, a new movie to watch on repeat because you go through favorites the same way Dustin goes through pudding cups.” He cradles your face in his hands, thumbs brushing away stray tears. “You’re my favorite person Y/n and I wouldn’t change that for anything in the world, I love you.”
“You love me?”
“Yeah, I do. Hell I’m shocked you haven’t figured it out already because apparently it was obvious to everyone else. I mean I could barely even teach Ember how to play the damn game because I kept talking about you. She asked me like twelve times if I was sure we weren’t dating.” You laugh at his words, turning your head to kiss the palm of his hands.
“I love you too.” The two of you smile at each other as Eddie rests his forehead on yours.
“Just so you know the guys wouldn’t stop complaining about you not being there tonight. Jeff literally would not stop looking at Ember when she had to make decisions and going ‘Y/n would do this’. You should’ve seen them when she got Adam killed.”
“She didn’t?” You gasp shocked at the thought.
“Oh but she did, she started a fight by accident not even thirty minutes in.”
“That’s it, if she still wants to play after tonight I’ll teach her since you’re apparently incapable.” He rolls his eyes but smiles nonetheless happy to see you back to being your teasing self.
“Whatever now show me this AC/DC album Dustin keeps raving about.”

Fall 1985
But I only have these arms to hold you
It’s a dark Fall night. The house smelling of popcorn you had popped earlier to watch during a movie. Halloween decorations had been plastered all over Steve’s home, a home that hadn’t been decorated for any holiday in a very long time. You had changed that though, changed him. You made not only this home full, but his heart. Which is why Steve lies beside you in his bed absolutely hating himself for not being able to tell you how he feels. How much he loves you, how much you had saved him these last six months.
You had been there for it all. Cheering in the stands when he graduated, taking your lunch break to visit him everyday at Scoops Ahoy, not getting jelous of his newfound friendship with Robin, taking care of him when the monsters returned and the mall burned down, and even helping him and Robin get hired at the video store where you had worked this entire time. Everytime he thought you'd leave, somehow you were still there, and he appreciated you for every bit of it. So why the hell couldn't he say it?
He knew why. He knew because everytime he looked at the plastic Halloween decorations filling his home he was brought right back to Tina's Halloween party. Right back to that very bathroom where the only girl he ever loved looked into his eyes and told him he was bullshit. It had been a year but he still remembered how devastated he was, how his heart felt as she ripped it straight from his chest. The look in her eyes was seared into his memory, devoid of any emotion but distate blazing in them. He couldn't relive that, wouldn't relive that. Especially with you.
He may have loved Nancy but with you it was different. With you, he knew you were going to be the one. The one person handcrafted specifically for him. A soul designed to match his own in a large and lonely world. Somehow he had found you and now he wouldn't do anything to risk it, he would guarantee it. It had hurt when Nancy said she didn't love him but if you did. Well that would kill him.
"What kind of candy do the kids like?" you ask in the dark bedroom, voice overlapping that of Billy Joel's from the cassette player. You're My Home played softly throughout the room and you wished Steve knew that was how you felt about him. That until now you were pretty sure you had nowhere to belong and now you belonged to him.
"Why do you ask?” Steve hums, hands reaching to run through your hair. He lived for nights like this, where you just laid here with legs tangled together and talked about things practically meaningless.
"Well I want to make them happy, I know how much they love Halloween. Dustin hasn't shut up about it all week and I want something to cheer Mike up. I know how badly they wanted to dress up as The Goonies but with Will and El gone they can't" you tell Steve, hand lacing with his own under the covers. Steve smiles softly at you and how much you care for the very kids he had taken under his own wing.
"I don't know what kind of candy they like, I'm sure whatever is fine. As for Mike, tell him we can be Andy and Brand. Maybe I can convince Robin to be Data or something" Steve tells you, pressing a kiss to your forehead. The image of Robin in the Data costume meant for Will makes you giggle and Steve is pulling you closer, chest brushing against your own.
"You'd give up our Grease costume for that?" you ask, knowing how excited he was to be Danny Zuko and wear his leather jacket.
"Yeah but don't tell them that. They'll get big heads" Steve grumbles, practically hearing Dustin tease him about how much he loves all of them. You giggle against him and Steve warms over, feeling those very words sitting heavy on his chest. If only he had the words to tell you. He knew you were waiting, wondering why he hadn't said them. If you only had time to understand why he struggled with it so much. Everyone he ever loved left, if he said these words outloud he couldn't risk you leaving him too.
"You're the best Stevie" you tell him, leaning forward and pressing a soft kiss to his nose. Steve hums in delight, not allowing you to back away as he pulls you to his lips and kisses you quickly. He knows you love him, you only said things like that to replace those very words. If he would just say it your response would have been 'I love you Stevie'. Instead he gets broad statements that he has slowly come to despise.
"Yeah, yeah, best babysitter ever" he mumbles and you giggle because even though he pretends to hate it you know how much he loves it. How much he loves those kids. If he didn't he wouldn't spend time with them. One of those very kids was his ex girlfriend’s brother and he never let any of those things stop him. He was always there for them.
"Only the best can handle six kids at a time" you tell him and Steve searches your eyes, loving how when you look at them they’re filled with adoration instead of hate. He knows not saying anything won't change your feelings and you will carry on loving him without it. He just couldn't bring himself to say it, the urge never there even though he was practically dying inside to tell you. He wished you knew how hard it is to say.
Sometimes when he finds himself even close he feels silly. I love you seemed too simple to portray the love he had for you. It was so basic, a word your heard on the radio over and over again. Every song as simple as the last. How unoriginal were his words when the radio repeats them every single day? Even with his love for Billy Joel he figures he'll never find a song to sing you. One that perfectly depicted exactly how he felt about you. He doesn't want to sing those tired words again, words he wasted on people who never loved him back.
“You ever think about having kids?” Steve asks, leaning back into the pillow and staring at his ceiling. You admire the soft tufts of his hair on his chest, the way his bicep flexes as he reaches to tuck his hand under his head. He’s so handsome and it should scare you that your boyfriend of only six months has suddenly asked you about having kids and yet you don’t seem to mind.
“All the time” you tell him earnestly, snuggling into his side and grazing your fingers along his sternum, grinning when he shivers from your touch.
“I want to have a whole bunch, make me feel better about being an only child” Steve says, his hand pressed to your back slowly sliding up and into your hair.
“What do you mean, make you feel better?” you ask, lifting your head to glance at the boys face as he continues to be deep in thought.
“I was a lonely kid, my parents never really cared to pay any attention and without any siblings or cousins I was left to my own devices. I think it’s half the reason I was such an asshole in high school” he says, almost wincing at the thought of how many people he had treated like shit over the years just to guarantee he wouldn’t be all alone.
“You were protecting yourself” you say, understanding exactly what he means and Steve nods, eyes glancing down at your form.
“I want my kids to have built in friends and even better, present parents” he tells you and suddenly you find yourself wanting nothing more than to have kids with the boy beside you.
“You’ll be the best Dad Steve, I just know it” you tell him and there are those words again, sitting on his tongue and begging to escape but he just can’t seem to let them go. He hates himself for it, looking away before you see the regret in his eyes.
“I hope so, I just wish my Grandpa was still around to see it” he says, thinking of the only person in his life who ever really liked him for him when he was growing up. The man who had heaven sent you straight to him when he needed you the most.
“He is, don’t you worry about that Stevie” you tell him, eyes fluttering close as you listen to cassette playing in the room. The boombox clicked, indicating the start of a new song. Worse Comes to Worst slowly filling the room.
“Oh worse comes to worst. I’ll get along” you start singing the melody into the dark night air, the fall breeze fluttering in from the window and brushing against the curtains.
“I don’t know how, but sometimes - I can be strong” Steve starts singing along with you and suddenly your both giggling into the night, sharing a love for one another and a love for Billy Joel. The very man that had brought you two together.
“Do you ever get sick of listening to him?” Steve asks and you know he’s asking you about Billy Joel. You shake your head softly against his chest, gazing into those hazel eyes.
“No, he reminds me of you. Makes me feel close to you no matter where I am. Yet I suppose that’s exactly how he makes you feel about your Grandpa” you say, voice humming along the boys ribs.
“Yeah but now he reminds me of you too” Steve admits and you smile before leaning up and capturing his lips in your own. When you had approached the sad boy in the record store you never would have imagined it would bring you here.
"I'm gonna try and sleep" you tell the boy, snuggling closer and allowing your heavy eyelids to close. Steve smiles softly and presses another kiss to your forehead. He knows life goes on and tonight will soon be gone. Another missed opportunity to tell you exactly how he feels. His wished he had the words to tell you but instead he only has his arms to hold you, pulling you closer into him. It's really all you can ask of any man, to be held with such love even if he won't say it.
"Goodnight Rosy" he mutters, 'I love you' he says in his head. He knows disappointment swells in your chest, having been by his side for six months and waiting to know exactly how he felt about you. The only noise in the dark room now is the voice of Billy Joel and your soft breathing. He pulls you close, relishing in the feeling of having you in his arms. When he’s sure you’re asleep he tells you.
"I love you Rosy, I really do. Just please don't give up on me, I promise I want to say it. You deserve to know just how much I adore you but every person I've ever loved has left me. I know you won't but I need time for my head to catch up with my heart. Until then, if I only had the words to tell you..."

Eddie Munson Headcanons
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson x Harrington!Reader
A/N: I'm super depressed and this is my only form of comfort these days. So, here you go! If you have any requests, send them my way! Let's make the most of my depression and write these fics.
You're Steve's younger sister and in your senior year. You've definitely ridden on Steve's coat tails and gained popularity for being a Harrington. You're top of your class, a cheerleader, and friends with the 'popular kids'.
Admittedly, you were a bit self absorbed and consumed with the illusion of popularity. You didn't have real friends, no one that you could trust and be your true self around. You think getting dragged into finding Dustin's pet demogorgon was the best thing that could've happened to you. Besides the obvious trauma of everything that happened in '85, you found real friendship.
Robin and you became attached at the hip. You regularly hung out with Nancy. You were still popular but just severely humbled. '85 knocked your ego down a few pegs. You changed.
You changed so much that you didn't even ignore Mike, Dustin and Lucas when they first started highschool! I mean, even after you saw Dustin's Weird Al shirt. You looked out for all of them.
You'd known of Eddie. You'd seen him around at school. He was always really loud, abrasive, and kind of intimidating. He'd jump on top of lunch tables, going on spiels about 'forced conforming'. He was a little odd, a little rough around the corners, but you didn't know enough about him to form an opinion.
You officially met Eddie after Dustin, Mike, and Lucas joined the Hellfire club.
They were having one of their DnD meetings and needed a ride home. You were staying late for cheer practice so you agreed to drop them home.
You'd been waiting in the parking lot when they all came rushing out, 15 minute late.
"Hey, Dingus 1, 2, and 3! I've been waiting for 15 minutes!"
Eddie and everyone else in the Hellfire club (excluding the party) looked shocked when they saw you, to say the least.
"You know Y/N?" Eddie whispered to Dustin.
"Yeah, she's one of my best friends."
"You're friends with Y/N Harrington? Queen of Hawkins? Are you aware of the fact that we exist on the opposite spectrum of the stratosphere from her?" Gareth spoke incredulously, "Are you making this shit up?"
Before Dustin could respond, they all reached where Y/N was standing.
"Y/N! These are our friends from Hellfire! This is Gareth, this is Jeff, oh and this is Eddie! He's the president." Dustin excitedly spoke.
You gave them all a smile and a shy wave, "I've heard so much about you guys! These three were really excited when they found out about your DnD club."
"Do you play?" Gareth asked, immediately being smacked on the arm by Jeff who whispered: "I highly doubt that, idiot."
You smirked slyly and said: "Oh, I used to play with these guys all the time! We've been on many adventures. Fighting demogorgons, slaying a Mind Flayer, we've done it all." Of course, this wasn't a complete lie. You hadn't ever played a DnD game. Hell, you weren't even entirely sure what it was. But you had fought monsters with them. Mike, Dustin, and Lucas looked at you with incredulous looks and rolled their eyes, nodding along with your lie.
Of course, Eddie, Gareth, and Jeff didn't know the truth. They were pretty amazed that you even knew what DnD was.
After that first meeting, you'd smile and greet the Hellfire club whenever you saw them around school.
You'd also stand up for them if any of the jocks were messing with them.
Like the time Jason had shoved Gareth in the hallway and called him a 'freak', you'd immediately smacked the back of Jason's head and told him to 'fuck off'.
This is becoming more about the Hellfire club than Eddie so let's refocus.
You realized that you and Eddie were in some of the same classes. Now that you'd officially met him, you became more aware of him. Suddenly, he was everywhere.
The first time you'd chosen to sit down next to him in class, he'd choked on the water he was drinking.
"Are you okay?"
Y-yeah, just..water..wrong pipe. What're you doing here?"
"In this class?"
"Uh-no-like here, with me, in this seat?"
Oh, I'm sorry! Do you want me to move?"
No! Sorry, that came out wrong! I just-I wasn't expecting you to interact with us...you know the whole being 'freaks' thing...it might affect the way people see you."
"I don't care how people see me. Besides, I'm also a freak. Maybe just a...closeted freak."
Eddie swore that was when he fell in love with you.
Suddenly you were hanging out with each other all the time, sitting together in class, talking in the parking lot after school, giggling over random stuff in the hallway.
The more Eddie got to know you, the more he fell in love.
He'd find dumb reasons to touch you, passing random notes with doodles in class so he could briefly touch your hand, pretending like you had an eyelash on your cheek so he could take it off, ruffling your hair jokingly, putting his arm around your shoulder so he could whisper 'top secret DnD campaign stuff' (which was obviously just an excuse).
Your relationship developed and soon you'd be over at his place learning how to play his guitar, or going through his music collection, or forcing him to do his homework.
The first time you kissed was after Eddie accidentally confessed that he liked you. He heard that you were going out on a date with some random jock from school, and it was like all his nerves went into hyperdrive and the words spilled out. He thought that you'd never talk to him again, that he'd ruined everything, but you'd simply smiled and kissed him gently.
"I like you, too."
Bonus content: Dustin cries after you two get together. Happy cries, though. Mike gags any time he sees you two even remotely close to each other, even when you're not touching.

Friends with benefits was the perfect arrangement for you and Eddie. After the, ahem, incident, it would’ve just been awkward to go back to a completely platonic friendship. You two agreed that you didn’t want to just not be friends, but there was something that needed to be done about that damn sexual tension. So friends with benefits it was.
And it was great! For a little.
It had been a couple months of this hook up situation you guys had going on, but the inevitable feelings started to kick in and you knew you had to end it. It wasn’t worth losing a friend over, even though you did really like the sex. So one day you went over to Eddie’s house, walking inside unannounced.
“Hello?” you heard the brunette boy call from his room.
“It’s me,” you said back, already walking towards his door. He was playing his guitar quietly on his bed, and when his head made its way to look up at you he smiled.
“Hey, princess,” he said. That damn nickname didn’t really help with what you came here to do. He noticed your quiet demeanor, and he cocked his head. “What’s goin’ on?”
“Uh, yeah, so,” you said, itching the back of your neck. “I, uh, I think we need to pump the breaks on this whole sex thing.” He raised his eyebrows and put down his guitar.
“Okay,” he said slowly. “Can I ask why?”
“I just think it’ll mess up the dynamic of the group, ya know?” you said, still not looking at him. You could feel him staring at you as he sighed.
“Alright, fair,” he said. “You sure you’re not gonna miss all this, princess?” he motioned up and down his body, and you rolled your eyes.
“Shut up, Munson,” you said with a smile, and he put his hands up in self defense.
“Okay, okay. You wanna at least stay and hang out?” he asked, a little too casually for your liking.
“Can’t, I gotta go pick up Dustin and Mike,” you lied through your teeth. He gave you a short nod and picked up his guitar again.
“Sounds good, see ya around, princess.” You walked out of the room and out of his house, and you knew you made the right decision even though it hurt.
-
You didn’t even last 6 days.
Everyone was hanging out at Steve’s house, and thanks to his love interest of the week there were a bunch of random girls there as well.
You watched as Eddie talked to some girl that had come, glaring straight daggers into the two of them. She would occasionally put her hand on his chest, and he had his hand around her waist. You were fuming, and everyone could tell.
“You okay there?” Steve said, but you didn’t break your stare.
“Fine,” you snapped. Steve’s eyes widened and he turned to Robin who was staring into her drink to avoid making eye contact with you.
“Do you want-” Steve started, but you didn’t even let him finish as you got up and stormed up to the two of them. The girl paid you no mind, angering you even more, but Eddie glanced over at you. The smirk plastered on his face had steam coming out of your ears, almost like he knew what he was doing.
“S’cuse me,” you said, and finally the girl looked you up and down. You didn’t even notice; you were too busy grabbing Eddie by the collar and dragging him inside. You could hear him laughing behind you as you led him to Steve’s dining room. There was a sliding door that separated the dining room from the kitchen, and you turned around and closed it while still holding on Eddie’s neckline.
“You’re ruining the shirt, babe,” he said. You spun back around and let go of the shirt, walking over to the table. Eddie remained where he was, watching you with an eyebrow raised. You pulled out a chair and faced it towards yourself. You turned back towards Eddie and stepped to the side.
“Sit.” you said straight faced. He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes in a taunting way.
“Excuse me?” he said, smirking.
“I said Sit. Down.” you said, and he maintained his face as he uncrossed his arms and slowly walked towards the chair. He finally did as he was told all while holding eye contact.
You faced him and he looked up at you, watching you as you made your way to the back of the chair. You leaned down, moving his hair to the side and began to place small kisses on his neck. He chuckled but leaned into your touch nonetheless. It was when you took his earlobe in between your teeth that he let out a soft hum in approval. You ran your tongue along his ear before letting go, finally completing your round of the chair. He smirked up at you, but the smirk faded as you slowly sank to your knees.
“And what do you think you’re doing, princess?” he asked. You rested one of your hands on his thigh and began running it up and down his jeans, your other hand moving towards his length.
“Showing you who you belong to,” you said. You palmed him through his jeans, and he pulled his bottom lip into his teeth. Smirking up at him, you undid his zipper, and he started to grab his waistband but you stopped him. “I’m calling the shots here, Munson.” He let out a deep exhale, and you resumed your stroking of his cock through his underwear.
“Please, baby,” he said, looking up at the ceiling. You let out a laugh through your nose, lifting your hands and snapping your fingers for him to finally rid himself of his clothes. You kneeled in front of him as he lifted his hips off of the chair, dragging his jeans and briefs down his legs. He left them pooled at his feet, and you got back onto your knees and took his fully hard dick into your hands.
“Who’s got you this hard? Tell me, pretty boy,” you cooed. “Is it for that girl outside?” He shook his head quickly.
“N-no, it’s f-for you, all for y-you,” he said, hardly managing to get the words out as you worked your hand at a faster pace. You laughed as you hovered your face over it, letting your spit dribble over the tip to get him slick for what you were about to do. You began stroking both of your hands up and down once it was wet enough, looking up at his flushed cheeks through your eyelashes. He was looking down at you with lust-filled eyes, and you finally ran your tongue up the underside of him. His head fell back and he let out a soft moan.
You took him completely in your mouth, moving up and down in the way you had come to learn that he loves. His hands ran through his hair before interlocking his fingers on the back of his head, and he looked down at the sight of you sucking him off. You were now moving at a steady pace, bobbing your head up and down and swirling your tongue around his tip whenever you reached it. You only removed your mouth to move your focus down to his balls yet still jerking him off, and when he saw you look up at him with those big eyes he was done for.
“P-please, I-” he stammered through moans. “Can- fuck, you l-look so pretty like th-this.” You smiled with his balls in your mouth, pulling off of them with a pop. You stood up slowly, and he stared at you as you took off your bikini bottoms under your bathing suit cover up. His eyes moved down with your bottoms, and once they were off you straddled him. His hands moved to your waist as you hovered over him, pumping him a few times before slowly sinking onto him. He groaned as you bottomed him out, and you began to move up and down at a painfully slow pace. His hands gripped your hips tighter as yours were on his arms to steady yourself.
“You like this? When I ride you like this?” you said. You were trying not to moan yourself but you had to keep the upper hand.
“F-faster,” he moaned. He was a total disaster, looking up at you with glassy eyes and breathing erratically.
“What, like this?” you said, speeding up. He let out another loud groan, but you put a finger on his lips. “Shh, can’t be too loud, baby.” He was seeing stars with the pace you set, his fingers burning into your skin.
“Can’t l-last,” he breathed. “Need- fuck.” You smirked knowing he was going to unravel, and you sped up even more to send both of you over the edge.
“Come on, pretty boy, fill me up,” you said into his ear, and he was finished. His eyes squeezed shut as his dick twitched inside of you, and the slight movement brought you to your own release.
“Shit,” he breathed out, your walls milking him with every flutter. You felt his cum dripping from you and coating both your pussy and himself. You slowed down before getting off of him completely. Your legs were sore, but you weren’t going to let him see that after you basically manhandled him. He was breathing heavily, his eyes still closed as he tried to slow it down. He opened them and looked over at your smirking face, taking off your cover up and cleaning yourself and him.
He finally caught his breath, and he took your hand in his. You smiled, tightening your grip on his limp hand.
“I fuckin’ love you,” he said, and your eyes widened in surprise. “I mean- fuck. That wasn’t supposed to come out like that. But after that little show I couldn’t just not say it.”
“Oh yeah?” you said. He nodded lazily.
“Can you just say it back please?” he said, his eyebrows lifting in anticipation.
“Fine, only because you sounded so pretty earlier,” you said. He rolled his eyes before looking back up at you. “But yes, I love you too.” The same inert smile made his way onto his face, and you lifted him up by his hand. He sighed as he pulled his pants back up, wrapping his arm around you as you opened the door and walked back outside.
“Hey, where’d you guys go?” Robin asked once you guys made it.
“We were just talking for a little bit,” you said. You looked up at Eddie who was staring into space after being completely fucked out.
“Well did you guys finally make up?” she asked, and you looked down and raised your eyebrows. “Oh, please, you really thought we didn’t know? You could cut that sexual tension with a knife, you’re not exactly the slickest people.” You laughed and looked over at Steve, who took a sip of his beer and shrugged his shoulders.
“What’s wrong with him?” he said, putting the beer down. You glanced back up at Eddie whose face was still red and hair everywhere. You coughed and he looked at you then Steve.
“Hm?” he said, and you gave Steve a side stare as he realized what really went on in the house.
“Jesus Christ, are you two serious? That is- ugh that is so fuckin’ gross you know. Where did you even- you know what, don’t answer that,” Steve groaned, but you were laughing too hard to hear him as you pressed a kiss to Eddie’s hot cheek.

CONFIDENCE – S. H. x FEM!READER
IN WHICH Steve isn't that confident when it comes to you.
Tumblr media
He was so confident about it. He's been talking about it with Robin and Steve was so confident about confessing to you. Steve thought about it all night, his eyes wide open staring at the ceiling of his room, what if this ended your friendship forever? Was he sure he wanted to take that risk? He didn't know but he just needed to let it out. Did the flowers he got for you look withered? No, they didn't. He went all over the entire city just to get your favorites. And he was so confident. Of course he was, he is Steve Harrington. Nothing at this point could make that confidence fade away, couldn't it? He thought so, but at the exact same time he was going to ring your doorbell, you opened the door. Eddie Munson was about to go out of your house as you had the biggest smile on your face. "Oh wow, hi Steve."
Eddie looked at Steve, then his eyes went to the flowers Steve was holding nervously and Eddie finally looked at you, his eyebrows raised and a playful grin on his lips as you gave him a soft nudge to stop staring. On the contrary, Steve was pale, a frown on his face and he looked like he could puke in any second. "What are you doing here?" You asked the boy outside of your house. This is something that would only happen to me, Steve thought. He immediately regretted all the decisions he had made in his life that had led him to this moment. He also blamed Robin for making him believe that you liked him too. "I just- I just came to see you." A little sparkle appeared in your eyes as you looked at the flowers. "But I can come back any other day." Eddie noticed how your face changed and let out a chuckle. "Don't worry, Harrington. I was leaving anyways." Eddie leaned and kissed your cheek. "See you tomorrow, beautiful." Steve couldn't believe this situation. When did you start going out with Eddie? Did Robin know about this? She's a good friend of yours, you must have told her. But she's also his best friend, she wouldn't let him make a fool of himself like this, would she? "Harrington." Eddie said goodbye to him and Steve answered with a fake smile and a head nod.
You moved to aside so Steve could walk into the house. He stayed in the hall, holding the bunch of flowers as if his life depended on it. You closed the door behind him and stood there too, looking at the flowers and then showing the boy a warm smile. "Oh, yeah, these are for you." Steve handed you the flowers. You held them with both of your hands as you got your face close to them, the fresh scent making you close your eyes and smile. "Thank you, Steve. I love them." You put the flowers quickly in a vase, decorating the table of the living room.
"So... you and Eddie?" Steve put his hands in his pockets. You nodded, the disappointment being obvious in his face. Wait, what? "Me and Eddie?" You asked back confused, Steve crossed his arms. "You know. You and Eddie." He raised his eyebrows. If you made him repeat that one more time, he would just start crying. "OH- No, not like that. Eddie is just a good friend. Dustin introduced us, I've been driving him and Mike to Hellfire so- Yeah- There's no me and Eddie." You hugged yourself. Steve let out sight in relief, he ran his hands through his hair. "Well. I've heard you've been going out with Heidi." You decided to tease him back. Rumors about them being the new lovebirds of Hawkins were being spread like wildfire, and you would be the opposite of right if you said that those rumors didn't have some type of effect on you. "Me and Heidi? God no. I mean we did go out a couple of times but-"
"So there's been a you and Heidi." Steve's heart was racing. He messed up asking about Eddie and now he's doing it again talking about that girl he hadn't talked to since he realized he liked you. "Not anymore." He decided to keep it simple, a 'not anymore' would do the work. You knew he was not with her anymore but him confirming it to you made you feel better. An awkward silence took the hall, you hugging yourself thinking about how good it felt Steve denying those rumors and Steve with his hands inside his pockets thinking about how to tell you why he and Heidi were not a thing anymore. "Shall we go to my room?"
"Yeah, sure." Steve followed you to your room. You talked about the kids, about your final exams, about his new job, and about a lot of other nonsenses, both of you sitting in your bed having such a great time together. Steve almost forgot why he had come to your house, but he remembered when he realized the way he had forgotten about the rest of the world. Steve got up from your bed, cleaning his sweaty hands on his jeans as a frown formed on your face. "You're leaving already? It's not even sev-"
¨I need you to shut up." He started walking around your room. Your face changed from confused to surprised. Steve stopped to look at you, noticing right away what he told you. Before he could apologize, you let out a little laugh. You didn't take seriously what Steve said to you like you didn't take seriously more than half of the things that came out of his mouth. He had practiced this moment more times than he would like to admit and he had taken into count every possible scenario: you kicking him out of your house, you not wanting to speak to him ever again, you laughing at him with your friends... "Steve, are you okay?" Would you consider this to be realistic or pessimistic? "Steve!" He not replying to you was getting on your nerves. And you weren't let him think and his confidence would not get him out of this one. "Steve, say something!"
"I like you!" He yelled at you. Not in an angry way but in an I-don't-know-how-to-tell-you-and-you're-so-fucking-impatient way. You got up from the bed and stood in front of him. Steve looking at you with his big brown eyes, anxious to know what you'd do, expecting the worst. Now you understood why the flowers and that jealousy scene when he saw Eddie. "I like you too!" You yelled back at him, you wanted to laugh at this situation because you never expected to confess to him by yelling. Steve frowned.
"Wait, you do?"
"Yes! I like you Steve Harrington! And I can't stop thinking about you!" You smiled while yelling at him. He showed you that beautiful smile of his. Steve had never felt so relieved. "I can't stop thinking about you either! And you know what else I can't stop thinking about? Kissing you!"
"Then do it, you idiot!" Not even a second passed when Steve had both of his hands on your cheeks, his lips connected to yours and you melting under his touch. Steve felt in heaven right now. The kiss was soft and slow but still passionate, showing how long you both have been waiting for this moment. Before parting to catch your breaths, Steve gave you a quick peck. "Did you call me an idiot?" Steve wrapped his arms around your waist and you wrapped yours around his neck. "Maybe. But I love you anyways."
Steve was so confident. Even more now that he finally had you between his arms. "I love you too."

You’re leaned up against the counter at family video as Steve complains for what feels like the thousandth time about how much he misses Nancy. You roll your eyes at Robin who’s standing behind the counter as Steve’s voice carries over the shelves of the empty store. The entire time you’ve known Steve he’s been obsessed with Nancy, and you can’t for the life of you figure out why. She’s not that special and she clearly doesn’t love him.
“You’re such a masochist,” you sigh when he comes back to the counter to get more VHS’ to put away.
“A what?” his voice is hard, he’s confused by the word but he knows the implication is insulting.
“A masochist, it means you like pain and humiliation,” Steve is glaring at you, and not a playful one you're used to, this one is full of hatred. You know you should stop, especially with the look he’s giving you, but your mouth has a mind of its own and it just keeps talking. “I mean seriously, that's the only reason I can think of that you’re still acting like this. Nancy’s with Jonathan, she’s in love with him. Hence why she’s visiting him in California over break right now. She’s also told me that she doesn’t want kids and you’ve said more than once that you want your own little basketball team, you two will never work out. I don’t mean to be rude or mean in any way, I just don’t want you to keep hurting yourself over someone who isn’t into you.”
“I don’t know why you think I’d take relationship advice from someone who’s never been in one. You were a nobody before I met you, and let’s face it, you’re still a nobody now,” you can feel tears welling up at his words, but you refuse to cry in front of him, refuse to give him the satisfaction of your tears. It hurts so much because he’s voicing your inner fears, he must not be lying if he feels how you imagined he must be feeling. “The only reason you have friends is because you clung to us after the whole demodog incident, you didn’t give us a choice.”
“Steve!” Robin jumps in, seeing the hurt on your face and the tears in your eyes. She knows Steve is only lashing out because you’re right and he doesn’t want to admit it, but she can also tell that he’s about to lose your friendship. “If you don’t stop now-”
“It’s fine Robin,” you can’t muster a voice louder than a whisper. “Steve’s right, I have no room to talk. My break at the arcade is almost over, so I better get going.”
You spend the rest of your shift behind the counter as silent tears slip down your cheeks. Steve’s words replaying in your head over and over again, your heart fracturing more and more each time. You’re disappointed, but not surprised, when Steve doesn’t stop in to check on you and apologize when his shift is over. You know Robin would have stopped in to talk, had Steve not been driving her home after work.
The next few days are a blur of tears and work. You don’t go over to family video once, and he doesn’t come to the arcade. Robin calls you every night to try and get you to open up about your feelings, but you never do. You wish she would just let it go and let you go back to not having friends, just like Steve said. And when the party, minus Mike- who’s still in California, come into the arcade and you hope they won’t notice you.
“Hey (Y/N)!” Dustin spots you almost instantly, you sigh at the promise of his meddling. “Are we still on for movie night this weekend? Forcing Steve to watch the best trilogy known to man?”
“I can’t this weekend Dustin,” your heart hurts a little when the boy's excited grin turns into a frown. But you have to remind yourself that none of them actually care for you, they only include you in things because you’ve forced yourself on them.
“Okay, when are you free next week?” he tries to reschedule, but you won’t fall for his caring act.
“I’m not, school starts back up next week and I won’t have time between that and work to have a movie night. You two have it without me, you’ll probably have more fun anyway.”
Dustin walks away confused and dejected, but there isn’t much else for you to say. It’s awkward the rest of your shift, the party spending all day there, where they throw glances your way the whole time. As if your day couldn’t get any worse, when your mom picks you up from work, she wants to go to Family Video and rent a movie for family night this weekend.
“So you’re Steve and Robin?” your mom asks, setting Back To The Future on the counter. It took her twenty long minutes to decide on a movie that she’s already rented, twice.
“Yes ma’am,” Robin answers, using her professional voice. You take small steps back, seeing the writing on the wall, you desperately want to get out of there before she can continue.
“Well I’ll be,” your mom lets out a little laugh. “When my (Y/N) said she was friends with the Robin and Steve that work here, I never would have guessed she meant Steve Harrington, former star of the Hawkins basketball and Swim teams.”
“(Y/N/N) is great,” Steve says awkwardly, like he’s trying to force something nice about you out. “We’ve been friends for a few years now.”
“Mom, can we go now?” you practically beg, wanting nothing more than the ground to open up and swallow you whole.
“C’mon sweetie, I’m just trying to meet your friends,” she turns back to the two behind the counter. “She just goes on and on about you two, all good things of course! I’m just so happy she’s made such good friends.”
“Okay mom,” you whine, taking another step back. “You’ve embarrassed me enough, let's just hurry up and rent the movie.”
Thankfully, Robin takes pity on you and quickly starts ringing your mother up, but not without trying to upsell her some candy because it will give her a commission. Your mom finally settles on buying some Sno Caps, and you can practically taste sweet freedom as she hands Robin some cash. But Steve ruins that when he opens his big fat- gorgeous- mouth.
“(Y/N/N), we finally got Fright Night in, if you still want to rent it,” you wrinkle your nose, it was a movie you were supposed to watch with him and Robin, far far away from your parents.
“That horror movie?” your mom asks in disgust, giving you an obvious look of disappointment. “She’s not allowed to watch horror movies, especially not with all of her nightmares!”
“Mom, please,” you mutter, trying to pull her away from the counter, away from Steve, and out of the damn store.
“Nightmares?” Steve asks, his face instantly softening. “You’ve never told me about your nightmares.”
“She wakes up screaming about some stupid dogs,” your mother tells him, and your eyes well up with tears of embarrassment. “It’s every single night.”
Steve’s words from earlier this week play in your head on repeat ‘you clung to us after the demodog incident, you didn’t give us a choice.’ It feels like all of the air is being sucked out of your lungs as your mom reveals your deepest darkest secret- one she’ll never understand. She’ll never understand what it was like that day, wandering through the woods when all of a sudden this dog-like creature with a cone head is standing in front of you and its face opening like a deadly flower. She’ll never know what it was like being knocked off her feet when that thing jumped on her and only being saved at the very last minute when the King of Hawkins himself whacked that thing off with a nailed bat. She’ll never know what it was like to be that close to death, that close to just being another Barb, disappearing without a trace.
Of course it haunts you, it was a near death experience, and you certainly can’t talk to a professional about it. No one would believe you, and they would probably lock you up in some mental institution if you ever muttered a word of it. You do your best to forget it day in and day out, but every time night rolls around you always remember every single detail; like how hot the demodogs breath was, or how many rows of teeth it had, how heavy it was on top of you.
“I’m gonna go now,” you hold back the tears as you race out the movie store’s front door. You can feel the burning gazes of both Steve and Robin on your retreating figure, but you can’t be by them. You can’t explain this to them. You’re going to have to move within the next day or two so you don’t have to face them ever again.
The ride home from the movie store is dead silent, not even an apology from your mother for telling your friends about your nightmares. All you get from her are side eyes and glares, you can tell she’s silent seething because you were planning to disobey her and watch a horror movie. What she doesn’t understand is that horror movies help, the fake gore and the illogical plots somehow comfort you and make you feel better about what you’ve gone through.
You go straight to your room, forgoing dinner to just sob into your pillow. Not only have you lost your friends, but now they know just how pathetic you truly are. All you have are nightmare after nightmare, waking up screaming and crying more times than you can count. This time Steve doesn’t come to rescue you, he just stares from the sidelines with that same glare he gave you the day of the fight, and no one else tries to step in and help you. You’re all alone.
No matter how bad of a night you had, or how much you begged to stay home from work, your mother forced you to go. She drives you there and waits outside until you go in, you can see through the windows that she waited a whole five minutes before leaving so you can’t sneak out. The drive over she was going on and on about responsibility and being an adult, and how you can’t just bail on your duties because you had one bad night. You would’ve come to work today no problem, tired but with no complaints, if the Arcade wasn’t right next to Family Video. Right next to Steve.
Most of your day goes smoothly, just rowdy preteens playing the twenty arcade games you have squished in there, nothing horrible happening. That is until around two in the afternoon when the door jingles and your eyes zero in on that unmistakable hair in the doorway. You contemplate running and hiding in the back room, but losing your job for leaving the floor unmanned is the last thing you want or need to add to the very large load of crap your life is becoming.
Even if you had decided to hide in the back room, Steve is in front of you at the counter quicker than you could have hid. You refuse to look him in the eye, instead looking at the shiny nametag glinting in the few overhead lights. He stares at you for what feels like forever before finally sighing and then talking.
“Why didn’t you tell me you have nightmares?” he cuts right to the chase,, his voice is monotonous and you can’t tell if he’s trying to sympathize with you or come off condescending.
“We all have our secrets,” you sneer, not understanding why he’s being nice to you all of a sudden. “It’s not like you care, so just drop it.”
“You don’t mean that-” you cut him off with a glare, finally looking into his puppy dog eyes. The ones you used to melt in every time he looked at you.
“Like hell I don’t!” you whisper harshly, not trying to draw attention from the kids in the Arcade. “You don’t care. Steve. So for both of our sakes, please stop pretending like you do. What I said the other day was harsh, but I meant it from a place of love and caring. What you said the other day was a low blow and said to hurt me. Let’s just go back to how things used to be, neither of us acknowledging that the other exists.”
You turn to go hide in the back room, job security be damned, you just need to get away from Steve. He can’t see you cry over him, you refuse to let him. But his hand catches your wrist, spinning you around to face him again.
“I do care about you (Y/N), and I didn’t mean what I said,” he grips your hand harder, pulling you closer to the class case that divides you. “I was embarrassed because you were right, you always are, and I wasn’t ready to hear it. If I could go back and keep myself from saying those things, I would do it in a heartbeat!”
“Your life will be just fine without me, and soon enough you’ll just forget about me, I’ll just be that girl you see around town, the one you used to know.”
“No it won’t, don’t say that!” Steve cups your face, making sure you make eye contact with him before continuing. “Life without you would suck, it would be so boring. What would I do without that adorable little giggle you make when I tell a horrible joke? Or the way you ramble excitedly about the things you love? Or the cute way you scrunch your nose when you're confused or embarrassed? What would I do without your goodnight calls and our coordinated lunch breaks? How would I survive without you lighting up every single room you walk in? Without you lighting up my life? You’re everything to me (Y/N), and I’m sorry it took me losing you to realize it. And if you give me the chance, I will spend the rest of my life apologizing to you for what I said and doing my best to scare away those nightmares.”
“Do you really mean that?” you sniffle, a single tear falling from your eye.
“I do, I mean it,” Steve says with so much conviction as he wipes the tear from your cheek. “I love you. Not Nancy, you. It’ll always be you.”
“I love you too, I always have,” your wet laugh is cut off by a searing kiss.

What if the group (or just reader and Eddie) go to Lover's Lake, and Jason and his goons show up and try to steal reader's clothes and Eddie gets super protective?👀 I even had a thought about both Eddie and Billy ganging up to protect reader but idk how you'd feel about that 🫣
By the Lakeside
(Billy Hargrove x Female Reader x Eddie Munson)
Warnings: Language, Jason Carver & Co., slut-shaming, suggestive situation (I think that's it. Please let me know if you see anything else.)
Word Count: 2881
A/N: Thank you for requesting this, my love! I'm a little iffy about how I wrote Billy in this one. Not sure if he comes off as too AU. I tried to keep him in character. As soon as I saw "both Eddie and Billy," I knew there was no other way to write this. I hope you enjoy!

Finally, after weeks of extra shifts, sick days, after-school activities, and classes: everyone could hang out.
Eddie had gotten the key to Rick’s place after the dealer had been locked up longer than anticipated. Rick said something about if that ever happened again, he needed someone to water his plants—actual house plants, to your surprise.
And since it did happen again, Eddie suggested a day at Lover’s Lake with accommodations courtesy of the inmate. Everyone quickly agreed.
You had all arrived around the same time. Eddie opened your door before dragging out the cooler Wayne had lent you.
El and Max were already in the lake with Mike and Will running to join them. Nancy and Jonathan were setting up their blanket, and Robin was tugging inner tubes out of Steve’s car.
“How many of those did you bring,” you asked as she hooked two on her arm after hanging Steve four.
“They were having a sale, and Steve had some, so,” she did some mental calculations, “ten? Yeah, ten.”
You shook your head in amusement, closed the door for her, and made your way to the rest of the group. Only one person was missing.
Billy said he would meet you after he got off work, then muttered something about “little shits” and “fucking swimming lessons.” He was all bark and no bite when teaching the kids. He guided them through each movement and reassured them when they were scared to try something new.
You remembered the first time you saw him with them. You had to pick him up because his car was in the shop. He had ushered the rest of the kids to get changed but was still talking to a little boy. You didn’t know what they were saying, but whatever Billy had told the kid had been the right thing. The boy had beamed up at Billy and threw his tiny arms around his neck before rushing into the locker room.
Billy crouched there, eyes wide, then a little smile appeared, and he looked up to find you.
“Good day?” you had asked when you were close enough to him.
He shrugged, trying to fight back the smile. “Alright, I guess.”
You kissed his cheek and whispered, “Hurry up, and I’ll make it better.”
Eddie broke you out of your thoughts by wrapping his arms around your waist.
“All set, sweetheart,” he mumbled, kissing the back of your neck.
You hummed and watched as Steve, Dustin, and Lucas rowed into the lake with their fishing rods.
Grabbing Eddie’s arm, you pulled it to look at his watch. Billy would be here soon.
“Wanna sit?” Eddie asked.
You nodded, and he led you to the blanket, pressing against your side once you were both settled. He leaned toward you, his arm behind your back, so he was as close as possible.
“You think about them tipping the boat, too?” A smirk played on his lips.
You snorted. “The second I saw it.”
Eddie let out a laugh and nudged your shoulder. “Great minds, babe. Great minds.”
Your relationship with Eddie and Billy was unique. It had taken some deep conversations between the three of you to work.
You were good for Billy—everyone could see that. Though you and he weren’t together, there was something unspoken that made you off limits—to everyone but Eddie, that was.
He had been your friend for a while before Billy moved to Hawkins. So, when you developed a friendship with Billy, he had to come to terms with the fact that Eddie was more or less part of the package.
You had all been hanging out at your place, the TV on low, Billy’s arm thrown around your shoulders, and Eddie’s head in your lap. And you couldn’t have imagined being anywhere else.
And maybe it was Eddie's brownies or the darkness that made you say, “You both make me happy.”
They must have heard the hidden meaning in your tone because they looked at you in confusion but had the smallest of smiles on their faces. Then, they shared a glance with one another.
“You make me happy, too, sweetheart,” Eddie said.
Billy brushed a thumb along your shoulder. “Only one I give a shit about, baby.”
Their soft words and intense gazes made your cheeks heat up.
“What does…What does this mean? For us?” you asked, fiddling with your fingers.
Eddie tilted your chin up. “Means we should probably talk in the morning. When we’re all more…ourselves.”
You chuckled and nodded. “Good idea.”
Billy pulled you into him more and planted a kiss on the side of your head.
“My answer’ll be the same. Ya know, before you start overthinking,” he said.
Eddie settled back on your lap. “Mine will be, too. Just so you know.”
They were calling you their girlfriend when you woke up.
“Ew!” Robin screeched. “I think a fish slipped between my toes!”
Eddie laughed, making you grin as well.
He offered you a hand, bowing low. “Care for a swim, my lady?”
Instead of taking his hand, you flung your t-shirt over your head and pulled your shorts off.
“What are you waiting for?” you asked when you saw him standing there, eyes wide.
He hurriedly rid himself of his shirt, intertwined your fingers, and tugged you to the lake.
However, neither of you noticed who had just emerged with his two friends as they got closer to where you were set up to get to their car.
“That was the freak, wasn’t it?” Andy asked, turning to the others.
Patrick nodded. “And his little girlfriend, if that’s even the word for her.”
Jason glanced at you and Eddie, then at the blanket on the grass. A slow smirk spread across his face.
He gestured toward it. “Maybe someone should teach her not to be such a slut.”
They snickered when they caught on to what Jason had in mind.
He snatched your clothes, then rummaged through your bag to find the bra and underwear you stashed for later.
The hum of an engine stopped as they continued to their vehicle.
Billy closed his car door, scanning the area for you or Eddie.
He spotted Jason, and his stomach twisted at the familiar shade of green Billy had seen on you this morning. It couldn’t be.
“She acts like a whore, so why does she need these?” Jason laughed, waving the garments around. He was met with a chorus of laughter.
Billy ground his teeth, rushing toward Jason before he could think, and clocked him across the jaw.
Billy grabbed your clothes before they hit the ground and twisted Jason’s arm behind his back.
Jason let out a pained cry.
“You wanna say that again, Carver?” Billy bit out.
“I didn’t say anything!” Jason let out another sharp yell as Billy pushed further.
“You ever do something like this again—you ever call her that again—you’ll be in the ground.” He applied more pressure to Jason’s arm. “Understand?”
“I—I understand! I understand!” Jason promised frantically.
Billy shoved Jason away from him. He wanted to push him back into the dirt as he scrambled to his feet and rushed to the parking lot with his friends.
He turned toward the lake but stopped when he saw you and Eddie walking up to him.
Billy could tell you were shivering after being in the water. Even though Eddie’s arm was thrown around your shoulders.
“Did what I think just happened actually happen?” Eddie asked, nodding to your clothes.
Billy responded by pulling you into his chest and tucking your head into his neck.
“You okay?” he whispered.
Keeping your hands on his sides, you met his eyes. “I think so…I mean, you stopped him, but…why would he take my clothes? What was the point?” The spike in adrenaline muddled your thoughts.
“Carver’s an asshole. Does he need a reason to do anything?” Eddie rubbed your back, throwing Billy a look.
You narrowed your eyes. “What?”
They were both silent for a moment before Billy spoke. “He did it ‘cause of us.”
“Us?” You tilted your head. “I know we’re not the most conventional couple, but stealing my clothes? Really?” You bit the inside of your cheek, then shook your head. “He needs to mind his own damn business.”
Billy squeezed your hip. “He ever bothers you again, you tell me.” He glanced at Eddie. “Same for you.”
Eddie saluted, breaking the remaining seriousness. “Aye, aye, Captain!”
You breathed a laugh, and Billy rolled his eyes, but the barest of smirks graced his lips.
“You still wanna stay?” Billy asked, gripping your hand.
You looked over your shoulder at the rest of your friends, laughing and splashing each other. It felt like forever since you’d all been able to hang out, and you weren’t going to let Jason Carver, of all people, ruin your day with the ones you loved.
“I really do,” you said.
Eddie tugged on your other hand. “Then, let’s get going!”
Billy set your clothes on the blanket, stripping his shirt and shoes as Eddie didn’t stop until you were in the lake.
Billy joined you, wrapping his arms around your waist and chuckling as Eddie dunked Dustin. The boys probably realized they wouldn’t catch anything with the rest of you there.
You vaguely heard the shutter of Jonathan’s camera, him giving a thumbs up when he noticed you looking.
Eddie slowly made his way over to you, soaked after Max pulled him under by his ankles.
“Your sister’s brutal,” Eddie said, though his grin contradicted his complaint.
Billy shrugged. “She plays to win.”
“At least it was her and not El.” You nodded toward the girl as she dunked Mike with her powers. “You had a fighting chance.”
Eddie rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless. “Ha ha, you’re so funny.”
He put his hands on your waist above Billy’s on your hips. And you had to remind yourself that you were surrounded by your friends—no privacy to be found.
However, neither of them seemed to care as they stepped impossibly closer, their chests pressed against you, and you were sure they felt your breath quicken.
Billy’s lips grazed along your shoulder and neck, letting you feel their softness without kissing you outright. Eddie did the same but trailed from your jaw to your collarbone.
Your breath hitched when they hit soft spots simultaneously, and their smirks on your skin nearly made your knees buckle.
“You’re both terrible,” you whispered, barely finding your voice.
They chuckled.
“You love it.” Billy’s words rumbled against your back.
“She definitely does.” Eddie nipped the juncture of your neck, his thumbs moving to graze the underside of your breasts to let you know he felt your body’s reaction through your swimsuit.
One hand rested on Eddie’s stomach as your other slipped into Billy’s hair.
“Hey! Just a reminder that I can see you guys!” Robin shouted, her hands cupped around her mouth. “And children! There are children present!”
All three of you laughed, and you sent her a shy smile.
Billy buried his head in your neck while Eddie took your cheeks and kissed you sweetly—a temporary ceasefire.
“The food’s gonna get cold if you guys don’t move it!” she shouted again.
You bit your lip, grabbing both of their hands and pulling them out of the water.
Eddie wrapped a towel around your shoulders.
“You sit. I’ll get you some food,” he said before walking to Steve at the grill.
When Eddie returned, the three of you settled onto the blanket, surrounded by your friends. Jonathan snapped pictures of everyone, and El insisted that she get one with each person. Once developed, she’d have a particularly funny one of her giving Billy bunny ears.
After you finished eating, there were still some blueberries on your plate.
“You all done, sweetheart?” Eddie asked, pointing to the fruit.
You nodded, pushing your plate toward him.
The little smirk on Eddie’s face should’ve told you what he was planning.
He gingerly picked one up and threw it right at Steve.
“What the hell?” Steve’s brow furrowed, and in the midst of facing Eddie, he was hit in the forehead with another.
You couldn’t help your giggle as you leaned back into Billy.
Steve stood with a handful of his own berries and retaliated. Both of them ran around until they were out of ammo, and by that point, they were close enough to the water for Steve to tackle Eddie into it.
There were boos and shouts of victory amongst your friends, and you felt Billy’s chest shake as he laughed.
The sun began to set as they walked back.
Eddie flopped down, grinning. “I think I won.”
Billy scoffed. “In what world did you win?”
“In the one where I get to kiss a pretty girl ‘cause she takes pity on me.” Eddie’s grin only widened.
You rolled your eyes fondly and gave him a quick kiss.
“Better?” you asked.
“Much.”
You all sat watching the sky shift from navy to orange and pink. Eddie had pulled his hair back before laying his head in your lap. Your hand moved up and down as it rested on his chest.
“You ready to call it a night, baby?” Billy whispered in your ear, catching Eddie’s attention.
“I know we said about staying here, but would you wanna head home?” Eddie asked. “I know Billy stopped anything from happening, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want it to be just us tonight.”
“Was thinking the same,” Billy said, kissing your temple. “Wanna love on you in private.”
You hummed. “I think I’d be okay with that.”
You turned, your forehead touching Billy’s lips, smiling softly.
After saying goodbye to everyone and Eddie handing Steve the van keys. You were on your way home in Billy’s car.
Eddie unlocked the apartment door, a hand on your back for you to enter first.
“I’m gonna hop in the shower,” you said.
“Movie?” Eddie asked.
“Definitely.”
The shower gave you time to think about what had happened.
Jason was prepared to steal your clothes, and not only that, he had gone through your bag to find your bra and underwear. And even though Billy told you why Jason did it, you only started to internalize it at this moment.
Your relationship with Billy and Eddie wasn’t what others expected. You knew when they had seen you walking around with one or the other, they assumed you were cheating. Then, the gossip really ignited when you were first seen with both of them, your hand on Billy’s elbow and the other holding Eddie's.
You had eyes on you in the grocery store and caught parts of conversations between people trying to be quiet.
Isn’t that…?
She’s with both of those guys?
Do you think they’re making her do it?
Those were bad enough, but then there were the people who took things too far.
You think she takes them both?
Wonder if I can be the fourth.
Fucking skank.
It didn’t get to you much anymore. You had boyfriends in the past, but nothing could compare to the trust and communication with Billy and Eddie. You loved them with everything you had, and they loved you.
They drowned out everyone’s comments with their reassurances. And soon enough, you rarely notice it.
The novelty of your relationship died down, most people not even batting an eye. But Jason and his friends could never let it go. It was like they were…offended by it—like it was so unnatural, so dirty, so foul, that it was up to him to cleanse it. He wanted to fit everything into a little box, and when it didn’t, there was no telling what he’d do.
You dried off, threw on a pair of shorts, and swiped one of Billy’s shirts.
When you finished, the movie was ready, and popcorn sat on the coffee table.
You took your spot between them, leaning your back into Eddie once he threw his arm across the couch and placing your legs on Billy’s lap. His hand drew patterns from your toes to your knees.
The movie was halfway over when your earlier thoughts returned. And you looked at Billy, the light from the TV illuminating him.
He must have felt it because he glanced your way, then gave you a small smile.
“Everything okay?” he asked.
“Thank you,” you said, reaching a hand out for him to take.
“For what?”
Eddie paused the movie.
“For stopping Jason,” you said.
Eddie shifted, making you move so you could see both of them.
“You don’t need to thank me, baby,” Billy said, glancing at Eddie.
“Yeah, sweetheart, we’ll always have your back. We’ll always protect you,” Eddie said.
“I know.” You kissed Eddie. “I know.” Then Billy. “I just needed you both to know how grateful I am for you two.”
“Trust me. We know,” Eddie said.
Billy nodded. “And we feel the same about you.”
You smiled, looking down, then back.
“Love you both,” you mumbled shyly.
“Love you, too,” Eddie said, kissing your shoulder.
“Love you.” Billy brought your hand to his lips and kissed your knuckles.
You snuggled further into them, letting their warmth sink into you as Eddie pressed play.
