Step (-ping Up) Dad
Bruce dies in Ethiopia, not Jason.
There's a sad funeral and Jason vows to continue as Robin to carry on the legacy.
Abt 3 months after the funeral, he goes on patrol and Tim finds him.
Tim is in a cheap batman costume and uses a fake growly voice and is like "dw Robin I've got your back"
Jason is like "wtf"
Jason tries to derail Tim so many times, but each time only makes him more determined to help out.
Meanwhile Dick and Alfred are mourning Bruce together and have no idea abt the 12 year old parenting their 15 year old.
Alfred doesn't know bc Jason thought it would be over by now
Dick doesn't know because he and Jason are on rough terms still
Tim starts sending care packages home with Jason. They have soup and blankets and books and socks ect
Alfred brings one in from the doorstep and is like "ayo Master Jason wtf"
Jason explains
Alfred invites Tim to stay at the Manor
Tim accepts and it goes surprisingly well. He helps with homework and meals and patrol
No one can stop him. He likes it and he's good at it and it gives him purpose
Abt 7 months after the funeral, Dick visits for brunch with Alfred and sees Tim at the table
Cue angry and confused Richard
Tim explains that he saw Robin needed help and it somehow translated to him becoming a tiny dad
Dick calms down is goes "OK you can be Jason's dad, but you're my little brother"
Tim goes "lol bet" and dads the heck out of him
Now he has two sons who are older than him
While this is going on, Bruce wakes up in the LOA
He sees Damian and freaks out, saving him and leaving the LOA
They get chased by assassins which is why it takes so long for them to get back to Gotham
Once they get back, they show up at the Manor and find Tim being a dad
Damian is all like "Pretender!" And tries to kill Tim
Tim stops him with the power of dad hugs
Damian immediately goes "Father 1, meet Father 2"
Bruce: "he isn't a father"
Damian: "you cannot deny the paternal role he has played in Grayson and Todd's lives"
Bruce: "hn. Fine"
There's a tearful reunion and Tim and Bruce are coparents.
Bonus: Tim and Bruce patrolling together, but Tim still wears the cheap Batsuit costume and uses the voice

Okay so we've done "Lazarus water is ghost booze", "Lazarus water is rotting ectoplasm", and even "Lazarus pit as spooky swimming pool" but consider:
Danny getting dunked in the pit waters and being contaminated with constant pit rage. He's destroying everything around him and his friends + sister+ clone must work around/ sabotage the JL, JLD and GIW in order to save Danny from them and get close enough to try to filter out the Lazarus water from his body using one of the Fenton Parents inventions.
The GIW keep interfering with the JL and JLD, hilariously insisting they have authority here and trying in vain to chase the heros off. Sometimes even actually fighting them. Or well, trying to at least.
Phantom doesn't exactly have the greatest reputation. Between the media blackout over Amity and what little that does get through painting him in a bad light thats not really a saprise.
Still, not everyone is convinced Phantom is a villian. Superman thinks Phantom is being mind controlled while most of the bats think the teenager was drugged and is on a rampage because of it.
Jason swears up and down that he felt the pit in that kid and he was swallowed up in pit rage the likes he had never seen before. Jason is determined to help this kid because if he can save this kid then maybe there's some hope for himself. Tim offers his help as well, suspicious of how similar Phantoms eyes are to someone suffering from the effects of the pit and at least partially convinced Jason is right.
It all culminates into Team Phantom saving Danny with the Justice Leages help and slapping the GIW all the way to thier new jail cells. Danny, after emptying his stomach contents into the ground, gets asked some medical questions, like his name and what day it was.
Turns out Danny thought it was the day everything started and had no memory of anything that happened while he was rampaging, which his friends and family thank thier lucky stars for. The boy can't handle much more trauma. Anywho, Danny gets placed in the watchtower medbay while they filter out any lingering L water and he's placed on an iv drip to replenish all the vitamins and hydration he lost while he was out of it.
Batman, Superman and others have all had talks with him, comforting him and actually listening to what he had to say. Something not many adults in dannys life did. Hood swiftly became friends with the kid and they bonded over being "Death Buddies" and Danny eventually told them about Vlad and Freakshow and his parents and how they all need to be stopped. He begged for leniency for his parents as they were genuinely insane and needed help.
Danny and his team get placed in a witness protection program of sorts and is visited by a lot of heros from time to time.

scene 03: get in loser, we’re going shopping
original prompt: gotham academy's mentorship program
more at: table of contents
timeline: much later after scene 1 & 2
Danny and Damian sat at one of the corner tables in the library. Danny had finals coming up, and was busy reviewing the term’s worth of topics from all his classes. Damian, who had insisted on joining him, sat bored. having nothing left to study.
Danny looked at the younger boy when he sighed for the 3rd time in the past five minutes. Deciding that maybe he should take a break and indulge Damian, Danny finished the last problem, and let his book shut with a loud finality.
Damian looked up at him hopefully, “Are you done, now?” He asked. Danny could tell he was trying his best to not seem too eager, but Danny couldn’t help but laugh at his antics.
“Yup,” packing his things away first, he waited for Damian, when he noticed what the boy had taken up in his boredom. “Woah, Damian.” He whispered in awe, picking up the paper closest to him. “You did this?”
Damian seemed to need a moment to understand what Danny was referring to before becoming flustered and embarrassed, a soft pink spreading on his ears, “It was simply mindless work.” He sounded defensive, like someone had berated him for his artist interests before. Danny tried not to react to that, knowing Damian would probably find it insulting.
The sketch was on the back of a math worksheet Damian had long since completed, it was of a fighter who seemed to be using his sword to attack a nondiscript opponent. Danny knew from his many intensive training sessions with Pandora that the figure's form was slipping into leaving them open for an easy frontal attack from their opponent, while simultaneously leaving the fighter to not have the range of motion they might need to defend themselves. Most of the lines of the drawing were scratchy and short but overly repeated giving the fighter the illusion of fast movement, directly in contrast the hard outline of the fighter’s form made it seem like the fighter was stuck in their position.
Liminals and liminal-agencent people by definition did not have a strong awareness to manipulate ectoplasm consciously like other more ghostly beings could. Coincidentally, liminals tended to leak their own internally produced and stored ectoplasm when they acted on their deep emotions. Scientifically this usually showed itself as a person ‘harnessing their full potential’ in moments of crisis or in some more extreme and rarer cases accessing their metagene (meta’s were not to be confused with liminals or ghostly beings they hold few to no similarities outside of coincidence). Danny had known from the beginning that Damian was a liminal, likely from prolonged exposure to ectoplasm, and paradoxically had a difficult time understanding and accessing his own emotions. Emotional negligence was never healthy for an ectoplasmic being, and Danny knew it would be a long process for Damian to learn how to properly deal with his layered and complex emotions.
That being said, there was a steady level of ectoplasm spread over the paper, something that did not match what Danny would have expected from Damian’s current state with his emotional and subsequently his ectoplasmic abilities. The fighter was clearly a character Damian had either consciously or subconsciously created to represent himself.
Danny could work with this.
During the long moment of silence Damian seemed to have grown more and more anxious for Danny’s reaction. Danny let his emotions display easily on his face, wide eyed, “This is so good, Damian. I didn’t know you drew. Do you like art?”
“I do not draw. Art is a meaningless waste of time and only those without higher goals would indulge in such an activity.” Damian sounded conflicted, and the words he was saying were pretty obviously echoed from what someone else had said to him.
“That’s ridiculous,” Danny scoffed, “Art is a very important basis for almost everything. I mean it would feel pretty stale to live in a world where there was no uniqueness anywhere. Drawing, painting, writing, acting, sculpting, singing, or whatever else, are all unique forms of making something that no one else could truly ever recreate exactly. Even if it’s minute, there are always differences in the way that one person would commit to something than another person. It’s the basis of humanity and in the core of the human mind. If you try to block it so harshly from yourself, you’ll end up locking up an integral part of yourself that sets you apart from the other 7 million people on this planet.”
Damain stood there, considering what Danny said.
Not waiting another moment, Danny grabbed Damian’s bag heading out of the library. “What are you doing?” Damian asked suspiciously, quickly falling in step with Danny, grabbing his bag back.
Danny smirked at him, “We’re going shopping, Loser.”
Damian looked scandalied at the nickname, not understanding the reference. “I am not a loser.” he huffed.
Danny just laughed as they waited for the next bus. Once they got to their stop and entered the store, Danny beelined for where he knew the art supplies to be. Damian followed behind him, unfamiliar with the store.
Sure, if Damian wanted, he could easily buy the more top of the line supplies, after all he was a Wayne. But Danny was pointedly a broke scholarship kid right now, and it didn’t sit right to let Damian pay for things he was buying, no matter how much of a trust fund kid he may be. Not that Danny was exactly broke, but he imagined the cashiers at their local supermarket wouldn’t appreciate him trying to pay for a sketchbook, a couple sketch pens and pencils, and a 25 pack of Crayola markers with solid gold coins.
It was around 4:30 when they left the store with their stuff, Damian eyeing the bag curiously the whole time. They walked the rest of the way to a local cafe, and Danny sat Damian down.
“Okay, we’ll be here for the next hour,” He pulled out his own sketchpad, the concepts filling the pages were more accurately  blueprints more than drawings, “Draw whatever you want.”
“I don’t know what to draw.” Damian huffed, awkwardly taking the supplies from Danny, and examining his surroundings carefully. Damian sat in the corner for a while, blending into the surroundings as he watched how the world spun around him. Danny was half-way through reviewing one of his older designs when Damian finally decided to open the pack of pencils and the first strike on the paper was made. They stayed there for long over the allotted hour, both sucked into their own projects.
“I finished.” Damian breathed in satisfaction, stretching his hand and back in his chair at the admission.
Danny eyed him with curiosity. “Can I see?” He asked. Danny wasn’t sure how right he had been about Damian using drawing to help regulate his ectoplasm and emotions, and he wanted to check how consistent it would be. Also he was really curious to see what he had drawn.
Damian looked a little bashful at his request, but he nodded, handing the sketch book over to Danny. Danny could easily feel the ectoplasmic energy scattered across the page, it wasn’t as constant as the first drawing had been, but it was still there. So he was right.
The drawing this time was of what had likely originally meant to be the barista, based on the outlines of the industrial coffee machine and register that had started out but been forgotten later for the center of the piece. The man was wearing an apron similarly like the one the barista had been wearing and a similar uniform, but that was the only similarities that Danny could draw from his surroundings in the drawing. The man, unlike their teenaged barista, was quite aged, with thin but well groomed hair, and a mustache. He had a longer face scattered with wrinkles of old age. The old man was looking down, presumably working on something, and seemingly happy with whatever it was. The ecto-signature was more concentrated around the old man, leading Danny to believe it was someone Damian likely loved and admired.
“You’re so good at this.” Danny complemented, honestly. “Did you have fun?” He asked, it was starting to get dark and they had stayed at the cafe longer than Danny had asked him to without complaint.
“Yeah, I did.” He answered after a moment. Danny ruffled his hair affectionately, “Hey, you’re gonna mess it up.” He complained, making no effort to remove himself.
“C’mon, let’s get you home. I have to go to work soon.” Danny led them out of the store, just in time for an expensive looking black car to pull around the bend and expertly stop in front of him.
“Young Master Damian, I’ve come to pick you up.” An old British gentleman spoke from the driver seat, it was the man from the drawing.
“Understood, Alfred.” Damian turned to hand the art supplies back to Danny.
“They’re yours.” Danny refused.
“I’ll take care of them.” Damian promised, placeing the supplies carefully inside his book bag.
“I’m sure you will.” Danny nodded, stepping back so the car could drive away.
“Mister Daniel, I would have no problem taking you home as well. It is quite late now.” The driver spoke kindly. It surprised Danny how accurate Damian had drawn that picture without so much as a reference.
“No it’s alright.” Danny waved away the idea, “I have to go to work now, and it’d be too out of the way for you.” He explained.
The driver didn’t press, but Danny noticed how his eye caught on something in the distance before he bid his farewells and left.
Danny made his way to the bus stop, and waited, mindlessly scrolling through his phone. Moments later another older teen approached the bus stop as well, waiting idly for the transport to arrive. He had black hair with a white tuft in the front, a sign of prolonged ectoplasmic exposure Danny knew all too well, roughly 6’ and some inches, and wore a hood of his red jacket over half his head.
Danny supposed it was fitting for someone who called himself the Red Hood.
The bus arrived, and both Danny and his co-passenger got at the stop before Arkham Asylum. Park Row AKA Crime Alley. By the time Danny clocked in and changed into his uniform for his shift it was already dark outside.
“Welcome to BatBurger.” He said in chorus with the rest of the workers at the bell chime of the door opening. The man walked to the counter silently, his white tuft of hair skillfully swept under a baseball cap he hadn’t had before. When he approached Danny’s station, Danny took his order, and right before completing the transaction, as per procedure, “Can I get a name for your order?” He asked.
“Jason Todd.”

Case Study: Gotham
Seeing all the trouble that the ghosts had caused that year and how much they had affected his city, as a final project for the class, Mr. Lancer let his students investigate a haunted city, and see if it was really haunted or if they were just simple rumors.
It would probably have been considered unethical or dangerous a few months earlier, but in that case they had an important help: the ghosts. Now that they were at peace, and the GIW had been kicked out of Amity (literally, Danny didn't know how, but they couldn't get in, or near the ghosts in general) many of them offered to help with the investigation. Probably to combat their own boredom.
Of course, Danny chose the most rumored city of all: Gotham. He didn't know much about Gotham, as Amity preferred to isolate itself from the outside world and deal with it's own problems, but the stories had reached his ears. Sudden deaths, living cities, crazy clowns, shadow bats and more.
He asked some friends for help and they headed to the city. It was part of his project to explore after all. What he didn't expect was a zombie (was it a zombie or not?) walking in his direction very slowly. He got into a defensive position but the zombie... just steal a tire from Johnny's motorcycle, before start laughing and crying.
That was how he met Jason Todd. And accidentally regained his consciousness. He unfortunately didn't have time to focus on it, so he just dragged him into his investigation.

some of my jason & damien hcs bc them both being league brothers and bat brothers is chefs kiss:
jason knows exactly how to handle damiens autism meltdowns. ra's refused to 'indulge in his tantrums' or let talia either. the batfam would try and calm damien down when hes overstimulated and nothing works but jason big brother mode activated and on autopilot hes shuttin off the lights, makin sure the rooms cold, speakin so calmly to him in arabic as he pulls out the weighted blanket
since jason build like a fucking tank he'll lift damien by the scruff like a wet cat when hes annoyed but also to keep damien from running off by himself
Tumblr media
jason absolutely cannot handle when ppl cry, that man'll fold like laundry. damien, being both an expert manipulator and a little shit, learned to cry on the spot early and takes full advantage of this at least once a week
damien did genuinely cried as a baby tho after he asked talia why he doesnt have a white streak like jason and talia told him they arent related
no one can figure out why later damien was happy to start greying at 20

When asked why he doesn't display the same level of power as he did against Trigon, Shego Danny says the more power he brings forth, the closer he gets to being dead. It's true from a certain point of view
Shego was't surprised at the teens dumbfounded expressions. It truly filled him with such glee as their faces twisted with the donning realisation.
Ever since it got out that ''Shego used to be a hero'' the comments about him " joining the good side again" had ramped up!
'"Oh Shego join us and use your powers for the good"' or a remixed version of "'you have such power but you use it for evil"'. Danny had heard it all and it got tiring fast.
So yes Shego would enjoy the horror stricken Faces of the kidi-heros. Because they would. Not. Shut. Up. About. It!
The older heroes had eventually slowed down but not these little twerps. Was it because he held back too much? Should he start hitting them harder so they learned to concentrate on the God damn fight in front of them!?
It had worked great for him so it must be an effective solution!
(He thought he heard a face slap suspiciously sounding like Jazz's echo in the back of his mind.) A quiet swish followed by humming started up, right on que!
"Well brats I gotta go my ride is here and I don't want any of your twerpyness getting on me!" The kids were hit with whiplash by shego's words still and slight guilt.
Aww look at the little baby Heros feeling guilty. Constantly having forced Shego into annoying situations and forcing him into using his powers. How cute they are thinking about what they did.
He still wouldn't forget it and he sure as hell doesn't forgive them but they really are just kids. Isn't it practically teenagers' job to be annoying to adults anyway? Ah to be young again. But speaking about annoying.
"Oi, Shego stop standing around and hop on already!" His boss's filtered voice cracked to life in his com and had him flipping backwards in a rather Nightwing-esk maneuver (not that Nightwing existed quite yet in this dimension) and gave the kiddos a final wave goodbye before jumping on the revving motorcycle his boss drove. Robin looked even more shocked as the bike shot off.
Danny sighed slightly, apparently his boss still loved a flashy exit! The red helm should really have tipped him off about his dramatic nature or the heads in the duffle bag thing a while back. Or maybe future, that was the thing with interdimensional hopping!
Now what he really wanted to know was how much Red hood was going to pay him in compensation for helping out. Because the annoyances Shego would get for "helping" were going to cost Red hood dearly. Mark his words.
"Oh stop being pissy Shego."
"Fuck off Hood you aren't the one that will have to deal with the hero's and their savior complex constantly now." The laugh Danny got in return just cemented his hatred for his boss. :D
Tumblr media
Wip of Shego Danny fighting his boss before he became his boss:b Boss was still fresh free from the LOA.

what do u think about talia? i talk big about Talia being an ‘amazing mother’ but i know she really wasn’t good- and i feel like her circumstances were a big reason why she didn’t make the best choices as a person, or mother.
I'll admit, when I was newer to the fandom, all I knew about Talia was the racist retcons of her character, but once I learned about how 9/11 ruined her character I will forever be her defender.
If Talia has no defenders I am dead.
Personally, I think in canon, Talia wasn't the best mother, but again, Racist Character Retcons and-- I'm gonna scream
I mean, Talia was first introduced as an Anti-Hero. In her early characterization, she had major qualms about killing people, and she only killed someone to protect Bruce. That Talia wouldn't have done what she did to Damian in the late 2000s yearly 2010s.
They've been better about her characterization recently, and they've been making sure that Damian says in narrative that he knows both of his parents love him, but the damage has been done, and a lot of fanon uses the Villain Talia characterization, instead of looking at how Talia's character actually should be. An Anti-Hero. And I would say her morals should be similar to Jason, but if we're going off of 70's and 80's Talia, her stance on killing should be "If my life, or the life of someone I love is in danger, and I can't solve this without killing then I will" and she will feel a lot of guilt about it.
but recent characterization of Talia should line up more with Jason's moral, which is "if they're scum, they should die because they've had their chance to redeem themselves but they haven't"
The LOA was originally created for peace, but again, racist retcons and post 9/11 propaganda and now all they are are to most media is a group of assassins with a bunch of cursed mountain dew fountains of youth

Talia : so is there's perhaps anything you want to do once you get out of here?
Jason : yep, got it.
Talia : And what might that be?
Jason : kill joker.
Talia :
Talia : is it bad to say your father is going to resurrect him after you kill him?
Jason : yeah I know, hate him for it.
Talia : and you're still going to kill him?
Damian : mother, why are you asking such obvious question? of course he's still going to mother, what's he's after is not profit or a result, what he wants is the satisfaction of doing it.
Damian : and unlike us he has nothing to lose. So why not?
Jason : see? Demon child get it
Damian : although it would be nice if you could get something good for yourself and others while you're at it.
Jason :
Jason : I would kick you in the face have you not been in the wheelchair
Damian : good to know I'm disable then.

what are the ages you’re using for your loa au? I mean, I assume it sorta follows them throughout the years, but batfam ages are massively fucky wucky so what are the age gaps?
also, If you’re interested in elaborating on Tim and Damian’s relationship in the au, I am interested in listening!
(the au where Tim and Dami meet in the loa I mean if that wasn’t clear)
Oh damn uh this is a tough question.
So the thing is I hate the entirety of what I wrote currently and am planning to re-write it eventually, so here's my updated ages/age gaps:
Bruce, late-stage of middle age (idrc about his age tho bc he's just an Adult)
Dick - 9 years older than Tim and 16 years older than Damian.
Jason - 2 years older than Tim and 9 years older than Damian
Tim - 13 when we meet him, 7 years older than Damian
Damian - 6 when we meet him
Thanks for the ask!

Gotta admit I'm a bit confused by the idea of Jason & Cass meeting "while they were in the League of Assassins" because...when was that?
Cass ran away at age eight, and before that David Cain kept her extremely isolated. Yeah, some other LoA members met her, but it was always under Cain's strict supervision. No one was just wandering on over, and he wasn't bringing her to the group bases. Just his personal ones. Jason is a few months younger than her; he'd still be with Catherine for that entire period. Jason is still about five years out from becoming Robin.
If it's post-resurrection...Jason may or may not have still been considered a LoA member during Under the Red Hood, which took place during Cass's Bludhaven era, so I don't know if them meeting in that time counts or not? I guess it's possible they stumbled into each other before Cass left Gotham while Jason was doing recon, but if they did, it was a non-event.
Cass left Bludhaven to confirm if Lady Shiva was her birth mom or not near the end of that era, coming home to find Bludhaven bombed (therefore right after the climax of UtRD). She did tangle with the LoA on that trip, but Jason was very much in Gotham, and you can't really say Cass was in the LoA then.
So I guess that leaves...the fuzzy period between all of that, and whenever Brothers in Blood takes place? I'm iffy in the timeline, but that's post One Year Later, right? And that timeskip is presumably when Cass underwent the shit that resulted in the Evil Cass arc? I'm really fuzzy on the timeline here. Or I guess any other time Jason dropped off the map before/during the Evil Cass arc, if Brothers is too soon?
Once Cass gets herself back she very firmly cannot be called in any way "in the League of Assassins" anymore, so the premise doesn't work any time after that.

It's really weird when people make the lazarus pit revive jason when they don't want to explain the whole "superboy prime punched reality 🤷‍♀️" thing when the ghost symbolism is standing right THERE. if it were ME i'd have him come back because his soul can't rest while his murderer is still hurting others. Makes so much more sense trust me+spoopy factor
