a/n: surprise… i’m back with a christmas present! this is the first fic in a three pieces installment, which can all be read as standalone but come from the same universe and evolve in the span of three different christmases. in case you didn’t know, in japan christmas is a holiday in which people spend time with their partners because they reserve new year’s for family (not only i’ve seen it in a whole lot of shoujo anime but i’ve asked my japanese coworkers to confirm eheh). it’s also customary to eat cake! ;)

When he came to pick you up earlier this morning, you thought he made a bold choice pairing the red garment with the unusual color of his hair. Up until then, you always believed red and purple would clash.

But Ran made it work, somehow. Like most things in his life, he did it with a confidence that made you question your world and how you view it even if for just a second.

“Well, that we did,” He shakes his hand, his long fingers easily supporting the weight of the full cup. You can see the steam rise from it and wonder if he’s not drinking it because he’s scared to burn his tongue or because he’s not ready to go home yet.

The two of you are currently walking around Shiba Park, not too far from Roppongi Hills. The peak of Tokyo Tower is hidden in plain sight behind the trees, stripped naked by the season, and adorned by strings of fairy lights.

In daylight they look clear, void of color, and empty, they come alive at night. Just like we both do, thinks Ran.

Boy has old CDs he has and you should probably try finding a Blue Ray (or use his if he can have Tim help fix it because it’s good as dead 💀) because he’s popping in every CD of old anime’s he have lying about.

“Wow, I didn’t know I had cowboy bebop! Or Slam Dunk!” He got a few rare gems, which makes it all the more fun to sit down on the couch under a blanket as you huddle and watch the nostalgic 90s anime shows together while eating popcorn.

He doesn’t mind watching new, modern day animes, just be prepared for when you two watch sad anime shows because he will sob like it’s the end of the world.

You expect someone like him to like Chainsaw Man, Trigun or something like those grunge-y, guns and knives animes, right? I mean, he does, but only with you and ONLY with you will he let his inner Magical Girl enthusiast ass shine. Because he LOVES Magical Girl animes. That’s probably the reason and one point of time why he wore red ribbons around his arms, he wanted that Sailor Moon experience and Tim might’ve just teased him about that era without knowing his love for Magical Girl animes and Jason might’ve flipped and freaked the fuck out and started chasing him down the manor.

Jason watches Sailor Moon, Madoka when he feels edgier than usual, Cardcaptor Sakura, every Precure series, Tokyo Mew Mew, man has all these shows somehow. He swears they weren’t through illegal means and he just worked very hard to gather all of them. He also might be a shoujo anime fan because if he loves Jane Austen books, you bet his ass would be reading Fruits Basket, Maid Sama or something because of course he would.

Also a Studio Ghibli fan, although watching the Tale of Princess Kaguya might make him feel too much, especially getting pissed off with the dad who forces his daughter into a wealthy life without her input and- yeah, you gotta calm him down as he cries bitterly and sourly with a pout on his face.

The two of you can go on and on about debating about unclear endings of animes all day long. You know the “AND SHE WAS A PRINCESS” video? That’s Jason.

Great man to watch anime with, and he’ll gladly be your Tuxedo Mask to your Sailor Moon (and not the “But you did nothing meme- or the other way around- he don’t mind being the Usagi-). <3

Tim Drake

I’m very convinced this man got into his whole detective shit because he watched Detective Conan and honestly I can’t blame him. Tim has probably the largest vessel of anime knowledge out of all of them. He doesn’t really have a specific genre he likes but he’s pretty fond of old 90s and 80s animes. He can explain the whole lore of One Piece, Fairytale, Pokémon like Jesus Tim, calm down- 💀

I can see him watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain or Key the Metal Doll because he likes that little bit of horror nature and mystery and thriller in his animes although he really doesn’t mind watching Haikyuu all over again if you want to.

Might introduce you to underrated and/or old animes like Revolutionary Girl Utena, Nadia the Secrets of Blue Water, every Studio Ghibli movie, those kinds of animes that give off the really pretty and aesthetic old anime animations that is just so pretty to watch and with really good storylines that both of you can cuddle on a couch together and watch. I bet he even watches anime with you even before you two got together, so you guys pretty much have “watching anime together” as part of the foundation of your relationship. Owns so much manga that you can’t even count, too.

Just… don’t make him watch those really slow burn, comedy love animes, specifically Love War. Not that he don’t like romance animes, he watches Ouran High School Host Club and Your Name, trust me, but Love War? He is going absolutely insane because of it.

Damian likes anime. Would 100% go to an anime convention with you as a date if you’re up for it. He doesn’t mind (surprisingly- just for you only-).

He doesn’t necessarily like showmen animes although he has enjoyed a few, but he really loves slice of life, I feel. It just feels like he wants to put himself in a normal life and with a tad bit of drama in it like what the characters go through. The touching ones like Hyouka or Natsume’s Book of Friends.

Also animal related anime maybe except Beastars because he didn’t understand shit-?? He calls that peak anime. Aggretsuko, Chi’s Sweet Home and My Roommate is a Cat?? Damian loves this shit, he watches it intently with his arm around you. Even if he doesn’t smile, you know he loves it by the way his eyes sparkle.

Just don’t tell his brothers. He will seriously feel betrayed if you do so because he only watches these kinds of shows with you: the cute animal ones that are actually wholesome and/or funny.

The whole family is into Studio Ghibli, and he is no exception. He feels like it’s the best kinds of anime to watch with you when you guys just want to turn in for the day and huddle up on the couch. It’s one of the rare times he relaxes and softens and he’s glad to have quality time with you. <3

Duke Thomas

He likes anime! Studio Ghibli is definitely a favourite of his and he would gladly watch it together with you! He also love a fair bit of Shounen animes, the more popular ones like Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, Haikyuu, or Spy x Family. He likes them a lot!

A big fan of romance animes too: Ouran High School Host Club and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (if you two are in the mood to huddle on the couch together and cry).

Duke doesn’t mind any kind of anime so long as it doesn’t have too much horror or gore like… Higurashi. He gets chills when that anime is mentioned. D-Don’t watch it for your own sake if you don’t know. And if you do, avoid it with him at all cost because he will.

Duke also like singing some good anime songs with you and you guys can go crazy and dance around, just not as dramatic as Dick.

He would be super excited to spend a date with you watching shounen anime movies like from Jujutsu Kaisen and he would be so hype to spend time with you being a fanboy while also sharing that romantic air for the shared love of anime between you two and the love that you two share, although that love is far stronger. <3

I think Mahiru being a literature student is very important to consider when understanding her because Mahiru is a character built around Narrative, well everyone is to some extent (I need to finish that post) but Mahiru especially because she's someone who's main vision of love is influenced by Storytelling.

She sort of subtle but you can see it how she talks about romance, as she says:

Mahiru: [disappointed] I have a pretty poor vocabulary, so I can’t describe it beyond clichéd phrases.

Admitting to only being able to describe love based on commonly repeated ideas in stories and media, soap operas, shoujo manga, films, and so on. The first thing we see Mahiru doing is TIHTBILWY is read.

Mahiru: Yeah, yeah. You’ll deny it at first. I mean, I was like that as well. Before then, I always admired soap operas and shoujo manga because I thought that they depicted a world different from our own.

She's admiring the idealized idea of love rather than the real thing, and you can see that in how she describes it.

Do you really think you know what love is? If you do, let's just overheat together

Let's have matching pain, this sickness is pretty bad

This idealized idea of a person who can always be there and share in her pain no matter what she does or the circumstances their in.

If they don't then:

But stories are forms of communication, and stories, especially the highly idealized romance stories Mahiru seems to gravitate towards. Can promote regressive and conservative gender roles and ideas. Ones that Mahiru seems to have accepted she needs to fufill to reach the societal line of acceptability.

Mahiru: Hm? I do~ Cooking, washing, cleaning, I love doing all those sorts of things~ Fufufu, I passed all my self-imposed training to become the perfect wife with flying colours! Yuno: Wow, incredible… I don’t know whether to call that old-fashioned or what. ……isn’t it a pain?

TIHTBILWY is presented as a Maganize, it's fundamentally something people buy and subscribe to. Mahiru is very much a character shaped by gendered narratives is society and I think that's interesting.

- when he realizes what he's doing, he buries his face in his hands and lets out a high pitched scream with his face turning into a dark shade of pink

- gets really mushy when thinking about you, writes your name in hearts a lot

- turns into a mess when you're cheerfully talking to him about something you like

- once caught you napping in the library and took it upon himself to sit next to you and make sure nothing bad happens

- by the way that's a lie because nothing that bad could've happened and he wanted to gaze at your calm sleeping figure

- literally squealed as he watched you softly adjust your head on your arms

- so. we can conclude by saying that niko is really awkward when it comes to you and he has some pretty unorthodox methods of expressing his feelings, but he never loses hope that, maybe one day, you'll see him in the same light (he's a dumbass that can't see you already do)

it's akaashi's birthday!!! you guys know what that means!!!!!!!!!! have some timeskip special headcanons about akaashi and co. let's go!!!!

i think akaashi deserves a spin-off about his misadventures in the manga department honestly

gekkan shoujo nozaki kun. sekaiichi hatsukoi. bakuman. there is a lesson to be learned here people!!!!!

tenma gifts him a planner for his birthday and the first thing he does after opening it is mark all of tenma's deadlines. which he also has recorded in his phone calendar. AND he has them memorized. AND on sticky notes scattered throughout the office

tenma: you know i got you this planner so that you wouldn't have to put sticky notes everywhere, right? akaashi, sleep-deprived and running on five cups of coffee: time waits for no one, udai-san

the office has a special "akaashi keiji emergency rest kit" for when he falls asleep at his desk

it's got a blanket if it's cold, a pillow they tuck under his head, a bottle of water and snacks they leave next to him if he gets hungry/thirsty when he wakes up, and an eye mask that they put on him after they take off his glasses

idk i think the whole office really loves akaashi

and he really loves them back!!!! they're a team!!! they work together!!!! deadlines might be hell but at least it's a hell they're united in!!!

akaashi finding love and contentment and happiness in a place he initially wasn't sure about is everything to me okay

also i think he wingmans tenma and akiteru. i think it'd be very funny.

january 7th, 2018.

my stomach began to swirl. disgust? no. nausea? no. i was nervous to the bone, nearly shaking. today was the day i promise nobara and yuji i’d go to the arcade with them, but i know they’d just drag megumi along to. they’d leave us together, alone, by ourselves, away from them..ugh! what was the point of being nervous?? i’ve got to woman up! what could go wrong? actually, i take that back. sooo many things could go wrong. i jinx myself every time with that. i heard suguru in the kitchen, probably making breakfast. satoru left last night, a little earlier than usual. i reach for my phone, turning it over and reading the time. “ 7:17am” i might as well get up now. after washing my face and brushing my teeth, i put on some clothes and did my hair. i’d be back in time to change my outfit and re-do my hair.

i make my way downstairs, the aroma of pancakes filling the air. “morning, sugu.” he turned to smile at me when i greeted him. “good morning, y/n. you got time for breakfast today?” i nod eagerly, watching him place the pancakes on the plate and drizzle syrup on them. he sprinkles sugar on them, adding a side of assorted fruit on the side. (if you don’t like pancakes, just imagine its your fav breakfast food) suguru smiles at me, handing me the plate. i stuff my face, smiling so hard my cheeks start to hurt. “where are you headed? you’re not usually up so early.” i swallow before answering. “just a quick run to the cafe. want me to bring you something back?” “no, its fine. thanks for asking though.” i just nod. im gonna get him something anyway. i finish eating and wash my dish. “oh, i almost forgot. im going to the arcade with nobara and yuji later.” suguru nodded, patting my head. “alright. will you be home before dinner?” i hummed. moments like these made me remember how good of an older brother suguru is. just when my hand reached the front door, i turned around to hug him. “w-woah, are you okay?” i nod. “thank you, sugu.” he chuckles, patting my back. “aww, n/n, you’re such a sap.” “shut up!!”

once i arrived at the cafe, i had to stand in line for a few minutes. i was lucky today, though. normally, the lines are huge, but today, i was only 12th in line.

before i could make a snarky comment, i noticed someone get in front of me. it was a totally random guy! what the hell? how was i gonna confront him? surely someone entitled enough to jump in front of someone in line would not be easy to deal with. he’d probably cause a scene. y’know what, whatever. i’ll just keep my mouth shut. im not in a rush-

“hey, she was next in line.”

all the blood in my body rushes to my face, was that..? the guy in front of me turns around, the same entitled smirk i thought he’d have on his face. but, that wasn’t the point. i turn my head stiffly to look over my shoulder. there he was. megumi fushiguro himself. white button up shirt, rolled up sleeves-he dresses like satoru? “what are you gonna do about it? tell your girlfriend to wait in line like everyone else.” megumi’s face remains indifferent, and his tone only get harsher. “you should do the same. scram, you idiot.” straight out of a shoujo manga, i thought. caught in my own thoughts, i almost miss the part where megumi pulls out a familiar card, a black one with silver lining, the initials “S.G” were engraved on it. satoru’s card? the guy’s eyes go wide with regret, like a deer in headlights. “im deeply sorry!” he yelps before scurrying to the back of the line. i stood there for a few seconds. turning to megumi, i spoke. “m-megumi! you really didn’t have to!” he just shrugs, putting the card away. “it was the right thing to do.” i smile. “i appreciate it. can i buy you a drink?” he shakes his head at my offer. “its fine, really.” such a gentleman. “well, surely you’ll let me repay you in some way?” “you can let me pay for your stuff.” i froze for a moment. he..he wants to pay for me? “n-no..i cant ask you to do that..”

in the end, he ended up convincing me to let him pay. even though im sure he was using one of satoru’s many cards, the gesture was nice. my face felt hot the entire time. “uhm, thank you again, megumi. i really appreciate it.” he nods. “its nothing.” god, he was humble too? how perfect could he possibly be? im was somewhat surprised that someone who grew up with satoru could be at least half decent. but then again, its megumi im talking about. he was always this way, maybe a bit more sour as a kid though. i glanced over at him. i found out that he drinks black coffee straight. im not shocked at that.

he gave me his number!! my hearts pumping fast! maybe i am oblivious. surely someone like megumi wouldn’t just give anyone his number. or maybe nobara’s delusions are rubbing off on me. he offered to walk me home, but even if i wanted to take his offer, he’d already done a lot for me. im not gonna ask him to do more.

by the time i got back, it was 9:15. suguru was doing laundry. “sugu, im home.” i announced, leaving my shoes at the front door. i placed his drink and the croissant i bought him on the counter. he peaked his head out from around the corner. “y/n, i told you that you didnt have to get me anything. he smiles, patting my head. “well, too bad. you shouldve known i was gonna get you something anyway.” i shrug and he just chuckles. “youre too much. thanks.” he pats my head, going back to finish doing laundry. i make my way upstairs, plopping on my bed and remembering what happened at the cafe. he can’t possibly like me like that. megumi would probably like a quiet and reserved girl. i mean, i can be like that, but is that who i really am? and why do i feel the need to be someone worthy of his romantic interest? weird. my phone dings.

an: srry its saturday and i said u was gonna post on friday😞anyways i was thinking if starting a gojo x reader series but idk i might do it after i finish this series.

Completely acts like a sopping wet cat when you kiss him in public, and now he's thinking about proposing? He'll only embarrass himself even more.

He's more hesitant about proposal but it isn't like he is not ready for the commitment, to be with you for life and stay by your side until you're both grey and old, it's just he has no idea what would be considered as a great proposal.

His friends are just as hopeless as he is in terms of stuff like these, so he's not going to ask them. He'll only get teased relentlessly if he does. (he eventually do give in along the line and asked them for ideas since he absolutely have none)

Keito had also read a few shoujo mangas where the love interest confesses his love to the main character and proposes to her, promise to be there by her side until death do them apart and then kiss... But he isn't stupid. He knows you'll eventually come to ask him how he thought of such idea and he absolutely dread the of thought explaining to you that he got the proposal idea from a shoujo manga he read. It brings him second hand embarrassment just thinking about it.

Although he talks about it to others, he does a pretty good job at not mentioning it around you and forcing telling others not to do so either. He wants it to be a surprise to you, and he's really careful about it. He does hint to you about marriage now and then, but it is extremely subtle.

He even reached out to your parents personally to ask for their approval before asking for your hand in marriage. He'll even go on long tangent about you in front of your parents — he could list out reasons on why he thinks he deserves to marry you if they'd ask to.

It doesn't matter if it takes weeks, months or even years to gain their approval. As long as you two are together, he'll try whatever it takes to win your parents favor — hell, all of your family if you tell him to.

So he was beyond relieved when all of his efforts paid off and your family eventually agreed to let you marry him. After the meeting, he didn't even stop by anywhere and got back home as soon as possible to you. You could see that he's more smiley around you and even affectionate, but you didn't thought much about it since you thought something good must've happened to him.

Well, it was good to him, alright.

Now that everything's out of the way, it's time to really ask you about it. Face to face.

He wants to wait until you're both financially stable enough before he could even indulge himself in his delusion of living a happy domestic life with you. And if you aren't ready for it yet, he would wait until you are no matter how long it takes.

Once he feels that you're both ready, he finally takes the final step: to finally propose to you.

He thought of taking you to an expensive restaurant and then walk you somewhere with a beautiful scenery, and just as before it reached midnight, he'll get down on one knee and propose to you like a charming love interest from a shoujo manga!

... Or at least that's he wants. It's really embarrassing now that he thinks about it, but he really wants to make it the most memorable moment for you.

But then, his plans changed and the expensive eating out turns into you two walking together in the night while you're walking back home from a late night snack run you'd roped him into.

Although he doesn't appreciate being dragged into one of your shenanigans, he was really couldn't help but feel warm inside although it was cold outside in the night breeze — he couldn't help but let his mind wander to a scenario where he pulls out his ring, get on his one knee and proposes right here right now.

Even if it's a setting far beyond what he imagine he wants to propose in, he can't help but nervously put his hand in his pocket, fiddling with the ring he brought along just in case as he shyly looks away from you.

It was really out of impulse, but he did it. He stopped you, got down on one knee as he held your hand gently, talking about how much you mean to him all of these past years you've been together and how he'd really like to take your relationship a step further.

Thus, he pulled out the ring.

Proposing to you in such a casual setting isn't something he had in mind, he would've liked to propose to you on a more charming way to entice you to say yes. The longer the silence prolonged, the further anxiety eats him from the inside. He would've taken your silence as a rejection if he hadn't seen the expression you were making.

The happiness you bore, the tears of happiness prickling at the corner of his eyes — he would've thought that this is simply but a dream and he's still keeping silence about marriage from you. Oh, how he adores you, it feels like he's falling in love all over again.

He just can't believe that you said yes, but he was just so happy too he couldn't help but tear up and hug you just as tightly as you were, almost completely forgetting that you're both still in the middle of the park at night but it doesn't matter — all that matters is you two at the moment.

He looks at you with the most softest the most lovestruck look he had given since the first time he went on a date and gave you the sweetest kiss on the lips as he slides the ring onto your finger.

And then you two kissed. Although he would never say he's story is something compared to those shoujo mangas plotlines; the happiness he feels truly does make him feel like he's in one of his own. A story with you, just as sweet together and this would only mark the beginning of another chapter in your lives.

Can I ask you something do you have a degree in psychology or something this isn't meant to be read as an insult by the way I mean it genuinely because your the blog I follow most when it comes to your Miraculous Ladybug Analyses post and every single time you be popping out with bangers like you must be really be intelligent to understand Adrien character and the show and because of you you cleared my doubts on my issues with the show.

You made Adrien character so much more enjoyable in your analyses of him before I took him as one-note and boring because this was a kids show but you really made it much deeper than whatever the writers could ever do with him.

I never liked Marinette but not for the stalking or whatever because it didn't really matter because I took it as a playful thing in the show but her treatment towards her partner and I am glad you acknowledged Marinette has empathy issues because she focuses so inward towards herself and not on other for example she treated instances like ( Making Juleka not invite her brother to the party) or ( Trying to take advantage of Adrien being sad at the benchpark) and I absolutely disliked it whenever Luka came on the show because I feel like her relationship with him give me the icks because I count it as emotionally cheating.

It was things little things that bothered me.

I initially hesitated to critique her, but as time went on, I found myself increasingly frustrated with the constant stream of excuses—whether it be exhaustion, trauma, or sympathy for her panic attacks in the Season 4 finale. It wasn't out of malice, but rather a growing sense of indifference towards her.

What funny to me is why I feel more connected to Chloe and Adrien than to Marinette. It's not solely because they got shafted, though that's certainly a part of it. Their backgrounds and how they handle their traumas are remarkably well-portrayed in the show. Even Lila, despite the general disdain from the fanbase, elicits more of a reaction for me, be it positive or negative.

Marinette always triumphs and conquers every obstacle. I hate to say it, but she just doesn't make for a good love interest. Isn't this a blatant violation of Shoujo rules 101? Kagami seems more suited for this role—bold and intriguing. Shouldn't the main character stand out from the other girls in class? I hoped to see Marinette unveil Adrien's true self as they grew closer, but it consistently feels like the group's interventions are pushing them together, overshadowing any natural progression. Her constant anxiety around him is neither enjoyable nor amusing.

Despite being the golden child who can do no wrong, Marinette has turned into a controlling figure in Adrien's life. I'm baffled as to why people still cheer for her. She's become a hero with a corrupted sense of influence over Adrien. It's challenging to understand the fervent support for a protagonist who lacks the depth and complexity that make a character truly engaging. What's the fun in rooting for a hero when the challenges are mediocre, and victories come effortlessly?

I'm glad you like my analyses! I'm not a psychologist or anything like that, I just like characters from cartoons way too much.

And your experience with Marinette is exactly mine. I loved her at first, but then the writing started to have her do questionable things and then justify her, and I started to like her less. Like you, I don't hate her, but my feelings towards her are indifference and apathy. And the narrative doesn't let her make mistakes. When she does make some grave mistake, it's usually someone else's fault, or the person who was affected by it takes the blame for it. Her conflicts get resolved for her and she never has to do anything to grow or change. Marinette is in this weird dichotomy of never getting a proper win and always losing, but also getting everything handed to her, and it really fails to get me to connect with her like I did in Seasons 1-3. I still love Marinette, but that only really extends to her in Seasons 1-3. Anything about her character past that just makes me feel indifferent and apathetic.

The main reason for the decline of shoujo anime for me really is that girls/women will still consume shounen while boys/men will not consume shoujo as much, so for producers if you have to choose between a shoujo or a shounen you will go for the shounen because you know you will be able to get both audiences while with shoujo the audience will really be majorly female and you will be losing money from half your audience. And that is also why shounen these days incorporate a lot of shoujo tropes into their stories (ikemen, romcoms, etc.) but still do it in a way that is mostly targeted for boys (male protag, big boobs and heavy sexualization of female characters that is not as present in actual shoujo stories), they do it to make sure they will grab both audiences. That is not to say that seinen and shounen can't do great animes like these (just look at horimiya and skip to loafer), but it also means we get a lot of anime that is trying to do the same but in a very harmful and sexist way (just look at shows like rent-a-girlfriend and the millions of bad isekai that come out every season). So, shounen is stealing shoujo tropes and making them worse (most of the time), and we're eating that shit up simply because there is no actual shoujo coming out as often as it did before.

My thoughts on BUCCHIGIRI?! Episode 11 aka the most traumatizing episode I’ve ever seen

WARNING: *Contain spoilers for Episode 11*

- This was the most harrowing episode ever! Like man. We got lots of reveal!

- Ok so for the opening scene it’s a flashback. There was some oppression breaking out at where Ichiya and Senya is living at, Senya and Ichiya are still training to be Honki people but however, there was a change in Ichiya’s attitude. He became much more hostile and vengeful at Senya’s playfulness and during their last match together, Ichiya tried to brutalize Senya. Senya didn’t understand why Ichiya has become like that but….

- Just as Ichiya was about to land a blow, he was shoot at behind by some unknown assailants. Senya screamed out for Ichiya but he was shoot as well. Closer look at what the assailants are holding are the flintlock pistols that would soon house both Senya and Ichiya spiritually.

- Also can I take a moment’s notice to observe that in Senya’s dying scene, he’s reaching out to Ichiya before he died as well.

- This was the backstory Senya told Arajin but Arajin was mad that he told him much later and that he was planning to kill him but Senya said that he planned to return Arajin mentally once his score with Ichiya is settled but Arajin too mad about it, told him to get lost. Senya was sad about it but also said that he felt some kind of bonding with Arajin before he disappeared.

- Back to Matakara, we see him beating up a bunch of random thugs and HOLY SHIT! I CALLED IT! HE HAD AN EVIL MAKEOVER!!! HE IS NOW WEARING A DIFFERENT INNER LAYER!!!

- Ok so now his hoodie is now a dark blue and is now showing cleavage with the metal bullet between his chest.

- Just as Matakara is walking back, Arajin was waiting for him and tried to warn Matakara about Ichiya’s plan but Matakara, who is still being manipulated, brushed it off thinking that Arajin doesn’t him want to be strong and that he is perfectly ok with letting Ichiya taking over his body.

- Ichiya questioned why didn’t Matakara go after Arajin since he has Senya with him but Matakara said that he wants to beat Kenichiro first.

- The Siguma goons are sitting at a playground and just being worried in general about how Matakara just outright pummeled Marito and wondering about the status of Siguma and if it will fall.

- While walking back to school, we have the NNL segment but this time it’s a lot more somber and we don’t see the customer freaking out. But that being said, it is also a lot….darker when The Customer ordered for Jasmine again and he started getting weird (I’m thinking it’s foreshadowing the finale)

- The aftermentioned goons went to the Siguma base , clearly worried before they saw Outa. He punched into the ground hard (guess they weren’t lying about how his punch can break concrete in Episode 3) because of what happenedast episode before declaring that Siguma isn’t dead.

- Meanwhile Marito is still out cold and Mahoro is watching over him. It’s pretty saddening to hear when Outa came by and had said that Marito hasn’t even woken up for 3 days!

- Also I think it’s kind of nice to see Mahoro having a cordial relationship with Outa and the latter being worried about her. But still it really hurt to see Mahoro crying about Marito’s conditions. (I know she’s a huge weirdo around her brother but still I can’t help but feel for her really)

- When Outa got out, Jabashiri and Hague’s came by (@hiphopcherrrypop YOUR BOYS ARE BACK!!!) and asked about Marito’s conditions to which Outa replied to what he has relayed to Mahoro.

- Angered, Jabashiri tried to confront Matakara one more time but Hagure stopped him and scolded on how he is not in any condition to fight but not before slapping him across the face to calm him down. (Man, the way this scene reads is kind of something you would see in a shoujo manga)

- Also, Hagure called Jaba a blockhead. (I swear these two are in love with each other)

- Outa was glad to hear about the dedication that both Jabashiri and Hagure had for Siguma and patted them on their backs.

- Meanwhile with Minato Kai, the two men guarding Kenichiro’s room are discussing about how Matakara is going against the creed of Minato Kai and how it isn’t like him at all. But speak of the devil, Matakara attacked the guards.

- Zabu, Komao and the rest of Minato Kai arrived to witness everything that has happened. Zabu and Komao were visibly angered at how their friend is going back to the horrific mindset he used to have before joining Minato Kai. Matakara however did not care and brushed these two off as always.

- Also we got a flashback to how the friend group is formed. Zabu was the first to arrive and wanting to join the group but then he met Komao around the same time. Just then, they heard some beatings coming from behind and that’s when they met Matakara. They were also the ones to watch him get his ass handed by Kenichiro but however this sparked an interest in Zabu.

- During lunch break, Zabu tossed a juice box to Matakara all the while looking tsun tsun about it but Komao convinced the latter otherwise about how he felt about Matakara.

- Look I know some ppl have reservations about Zabu and Komao but let’s face it: Matakara, Zabu and Komao are ride and die buddies for each other and it shows in earlier episodes.

- But back to reality, we see Matakara proposing a challenge to Kenichiro, the latter whilst did not speak, accepted it. Which horrified everyone at Minato Kai.

- With Arajin, his mind is left wandering on how to save Matakara to the point of getting the order wrong with his customers but however once the ate the fried rice they just ate it without a care in the world.

- Just then, Kenichiro came into the shop and asking for Arajin’s assistance. (Also Mrs Tomoshibi igushing about Kenichiro is just too funny) While outside, they have an unseen conversation that would later be cut into the later scene.

- In the next scene, that took place after school, we see Zabu and Komao together, pondering about the fight that took place. Zabu had an idea and asked Komao to go fetch Arajin. Komao had no idea but he went with it anyways to go get Arajin. Zabu on the other hand was planning something drastic.

- While Arajin is resting in his room, Mrs Tomoshibi called for Arajin but before Arajin could answer, Komao barged in and dragged Arajin to Ichizu Bay to watch the ensuing fight.

- Meanwhile with Zabu, he stopped Matakara in his tracks and tried to convince him to change back to the way he used to be. And so he tried to fight off Matakara but this would later proved to be a very VERY fatal fight.

- OH MY FRICKIN GOD!!! THE FIGHT BETWEEN ZABU AND MATAKARA WAS JUST DOWNRIGHT TERRIFYING AND SAD. ALSO, THE WAY ZABU SAID THAT HE WOULD ALWAYS SEE MATAKARA AS HIS FRIEND BEFORE HE PASSED OUT!!!

- WRITERS PLS SAY THAT HE ISN’T DEAD! PLS SAY DON’T SAY THAT ZABU DIED ON THE ROAD TRYING TO STOP MATAKARA!!!!!!!

- Meanwhile with Komao and Arajin, they’re watching the ensuing fight that is happening with Kenichiro and Matakara. The same goes for the members watching it as well.

- If you think Zabu’s was heartbreaking, Kenichiro is the same as well and equally so. Just seeing Matakara trying to go up to Ken and doing the same thing he did back when he was just a unrecruited member is just 😢.

- Akutaro happens to be there to witness the scene out of sight probably to see Ichiya’s downfall but I won’t comment much about him since he is basically irrelevant in this one.

- Matakara as always engulfed himself in Ichiya’s power once again and repeatedly shouted ‘Go Down!’ at Ken over and over again. (Which is saddening cause earlier episodes clearly have him respect Kenichiro and the latter knew his brother very well)

- Komao leaving right in the middle of fight to check up on Zabu. (Boi pls don’t you would not like what you see what happened with your friend)

- And if that wasn’t enough, we got a backstory on the Asamine’s! Mr and Mrs Asamine basically abandoned their two children for some unknown bullshit reasons (SO THE MATAKARA AND MITSUKUNI ORPHAN HEADCANON/THEORIES ARE TRUE!!!) leaving their older son to care for his younger brother. But right after Mitsukuni got arrested for saving his friends, Matakara would then go through dubious means to achieve power. (Showing he isn’t the sunshine puppy dog boi he is always presented to be)

- Oh and one thing that shattered my heart: Matakara removing the jacket Mitsukuni gave to him along with the armbands and threw it right in front of Ken! (This is just horrible!)

- Matakara would then lament how he would beat Arajin in which Ichiya smiled devilishly regarding how his revenge on Senya would come.

- Arajin went back to the Honki temple to reinstate Senya back but this time with a new resolve to bring back Matakara.

Neteyam Modern AU

Alright! It's time for my boy Neteyam let's go.

Neteyam is the golden boy. He's obedient, studious, and athletic. He's basically the prince of school.

That's not to say he has everything easy all the time or he doesn't work hard because that's simply not true. Neteyam has always worked hard to be good at everything because he loved getting his parents' approval and eventually because of that 'golden boy' just kind of became his identity.

He's obedient because he has a lot of introspection and is able to put himself in his parents' shoes and understand them, so he usually agrees with their decisions overall.

He's been shooting a bow since he could walk and he's Neytiri's star pupil, definitely MVP of his school's archery team (I'm saying that exists)

Outside of academics, he plays a lot of sports. He plays volleyball and soccer, and will generally help out other sports teams if needed. But unlike Spider, Neteyam knows when he needs to stop and take some time for himself and he knows when to say no because he has a secure attachment style.

He knows Spider is older than him, but he can't help but look out for him. He's worried the boy's gonna run himself into an early grave.

Spider and him have almost all their classes together and he would never say it, but he's a little jealous of Spider's natural learning ability. Stuff comes quickly to him whereas Neteyam works a lot until he fully understands the concepts.

He's the one person Spider will listen to for the most part (aside from Kiri but for different reasons). He respects Neteyam a lot and won't admit it, but he loves that he looks out for Spider. It feels good. The two are on good terms, and can regularly be seen at recess on the soccer field doing tricks with the ball with Lo'ak and Kiri when she decides to join in sometimes. Sometimes Neteyam also forces Spider to take naps during the school day instead of going to help out some club or something.

For all that Neteyam is popular, that also makes him seem a bit unapproachable and unrelatable to his peers so aside from Spider and his brother and sister, he doesn't actually have close friends among the student body, and it makes him a little sad. That's why Spider's always dragging him along with him to talk to the gaggle of underclassmen he's all but adopted and Neteyam really appreciates him for it.

Neteyam's room is probably all minimalistic aside from a huge photo wall he has near his bed. It's got tons of pictures of his family mostly and Spider, him with his grandma or Norm and Max. He has a lot of funny selfies with Tuk from when he plays tea party with her or dress up. Other than that, he definitely has like two volleyballs in his bedroom that he sets and bumps every now and then to destress. His room is always clean as a fiddle though, like truly nothing is ever out of place.

Adults really like Neteyam because they find him mature and easy to talk to. He's a bit of a teacher's pet, but not like Kiri where she's legit friends with them and talks to them casually. He speaks to them more professionally, with all the reverence due to a teacher, and usually sticks to small talk.

He's always pulling Lo'ak away from fights he was a hair's breadth away from causing and apologizing on his behalf.

Neteyam probably reads a lot and isn't picky about genres, he just likes learning. Definitely the anime kid no one would expect to be an anime kid. He watches a lot of shounen with Lo'ak and Spider joins in, but he, Spider, and Tuk watch a lot of shoujo cause they're suckers for those.

His random skill is that he's really good at sowing because he loves all of Jake's old clothes and learned on Youtube so he could alter them to fit him and his style.

Neteyam makes sure to spend as much time as he can with his baby sister. He, like Spider and Kiri are simps for the little girl, they think she's an angel.

Definitely texts with correct spelling and punctuation.

Makes a point to see all of Spider's shows or productions or at least leave him a note to know he wanted to be there.

He and Kiri spend time together usually by gardening together or watching comedies like Friends or The Office for the nth time and reciting all the lines by heart.

He's close with his grandmother and gardens with her too.

mornings with him start off amazing; he’s up and dressed, chuckling at your sleepy state as you groggily tell him “good mornin’” - he presses a sweet kiss to your cheek, urging you to get out of bed and get ready for the day

he’s always making sure you are taking good care of yourself—that could be in the form of him making or buying you a breakfast, helping you study your notes, reminding you to take breaks, and ensuring you sleep full hours

nothing worse than seeing his baby tired—but he’ll let you nap in the break room at his shop if you’re feeling particularly exhausted that day (aka me everyday)

draken loves to indulge in your hobbies the way you show interest in his by being next to him in the shop all week

if you like to read, he’ll dedicate nights in bed to read with you or listen to you read as you lay atop of him - his chest heaves gently and he always catches himself falling asleep to the sound of your voice

Re Zero Highschool AU Concept

very new to tumblr, sorry if i mess anything up!

mey and i just talked about this and threw it together and had a lot of fun with it XD I'm at arc 6 and mey is anime-only so far, so some things may be inaccurate, and some characters are not included!

If there are things you want to suggest please do, but any spoilers should be either really vague or plot-irrelevant (like, outside of main plot developments. Side stories are fine i think!) mey's notes from our conversation, I'll put some of my individual thoughts in at the end (Thank you @tanya-degurechaff for letting me ramble about my blorbos for so long! and watching re zero!!! and everything!!!)

Shitty Re:Zero Highschool AU

All the king candidates are all part of the Student Body, all running for Student Body President. That's the competition.

Emilia is an awkward transfer student. Her step-dad, Betelgeuse, had to move for work purposes. She looks a lot like the weird girl, Satella, which people isolate her for. Emilia deepest secret: watches 70s TV shows. Her clothes look vintage. She watches Antique Roadshow. When she goes to Anime Club, she finds out the anime she likes are very out of date. (Astroboy).

Subaru is the leader of the anime club and he instantly falls in love with Emilia and invites her to join. She takes the invite. Besides anime club, he also goes to the QSA, but as a student named Natsumi Schwartz and it's 100% convincing everyone.

Julius hates Subaru guys he swears. Julius is the captain of the fencing team and hangs out with Reinhard very often. He and Reinhard go to the chess club every Wednesday after school. Julius is also a secret LARP-er and goes to Ren fairs as a cool knight.

Reinhard is a straight-A, valedictorian, star of all of the sports team golden students. He's planned to take the Astrea Company after he graduates. Secretly, Reinhard wants to be a shoujo manga artist. He keeps his shitty Manga in a pink sketchbook at the back of his locker. He goes to the Anime Club with Subaru and that's the only time he can draw.

Otto had a lot of trouble in elementary school and barely talked, rather interested in his anthills instead of people. As he got older, he started making friends and now hangs out at the anime club. He's known as the student janitor, cleaning up after everyone else. He also lays facedown in dirt talking to bugs. He's autistic and has a special interest… in bugs/nature in general. Sensitive hearing, uses noise canceling headphones. Scalper. Theater Tech. Stage manager.

Garfiel is a freshman who's known to cause a lot of trouble and hates school. He's actually a youtuber who makes shitty rage roblox and minecraft trolling videos in his freetime. He's quite popular with elementary school boys. Calls Subaru Captain in school, follows him around. Great at sports

Rem is a VTuber for LugunicaEN. Her Oni form is her Vtuber model. Very popular for her genuine talks, she does ASMR, gives advice to people. She's very kind. Writes fanfiction.

Ram is just a girl 👍. Mobility aid user.

Priscilla is a theater girl, she acts like she is the best actress. Tries for all the lead elegant female roles. She's a good actor, just a little bit annoying.

Roswaal is the theater teacher.

Wilhelm principal

Crusch also does Fencing Club. She's very academically intelligent, though struggles socially. A good leader.

Ferris is the TA for the nurse. Also Vtuber for LugunicaEN. Openly part of the QSA, no one realizes she's a girl somehow. Girlfriends lesbians Crusch.

Liliana is an older student who gets held back, joins theater because she's a great singer. Priscilla has a sexuality crisis and becomes a woman lover.

Anastasia is part of the student body beforehand.

Otto is friends with Subaru's mom.

The triplets are all in the DnD club. It's just the three of them. Mimi is a Berserker.

Subaru is good artist, great at sewing.

Ferris can also draw. They draw together and talk about their girlfriends.

Emilia CANNOT draw. Worse than Reinhard.

Puck is the cool teacher, knows everything. Wise…

Beatrice is the librarian. Looks like a student, is not. Never leaves the school, no one knows why.

Echindna is a history/english/science etc. Teacher, teaches everything no one else teaches. How is she doing this.

Satella is a weird girl who has never really talked to anyone. Advises the anime club, no one talks to her. Has a weird shrine in the girl's bathroom.

Minerva is the school therapist, part of the health and social relationships classes. She's just so sweet… she takes care of the therapy dogs. Aggressively supportive of everyone. She's like a shaking chihuahua. Tries to act threatening, is just not. Really likes Emilia.

Felt is the youngest running for student body. She really wants two lunchtimes. That's her goal.

Rom is the gym teacher

Fredrica is the older sister of Garfiel, top student. She and Crusch are friends. Ready to graduate, just a girl. Trying to control her younger brother.

Henkel stands outside of Reinhard's class window shaking his head in disappointment.

Reinhard likes magical girls a lot, he just wants to help. He genuinely loves power of friendship stories. Really likes Tokyo Mew Mew and made Felt watch it. Reinhard likes to cosplay magical girls for cons and drags Felt along.

Subaru convinces Reinhard to get Tumblr, does not know how to use it. Reinhard: "Dear Diary, I had breakfast today, two eggs and a toast." He also texts using the glitter flowers gifs with shiny text.

Al is a stage crew guy who follows Priscilla around. Otto doesn't know what to think about him.

Otto disappears for days at a time. He is camping.

Garfiel is secretly a furry. His fursona is based on Garfield. Has commissioned Ferris.

Ferris is a furry artist. The Vtuber and Furry stuff is completely different.

Garfiel almost stopped going to school, Subaru convinced him to stay because he's been there before. Garfiel respects Subaru because of this and that's why he follows him around.

Petra is an elementary schooler who visits the highschool. On friendly terms with all the teachers. Why is this child here.

Elsa is the science teacher, especially biology. Seems just fine at first, but has some… moments that's a bit terrifying. Everyone ignores that.

Meli is a future scientist, best friends with Elsa.

Gluttony twins are great students and hang out in the cafeteria all the time. Right below Reinhard, Crusch and Julius. Acts like delinquents..

Regulus is a horrible teacher. Terrible man. The kind of teacher that's like "your learning depends on how I'm feeling today", hated by everyone.

Capella is not in the school… she. She is not in this au. Gets booted in this HS au.

Sirius is a very sweet teacher. She's the kind of teacher that's almost childish, really wants everyone to get along. She almost seems condescending, but she's genuine about it. Obsessed with Betelgeuse, every time he visits Emilia, she flirts.

Pandora is the one who keeps Regulus in line. A faculty member. Philosophy Teacher.

Hector is a sad janitor man. Otto took over his job.

Tonchinkan are the three school delinquents, but strangely friends with Felt and therefore associated with Reinhardt (who's trying to keep them in line).

Daphne is the Lunch lady.

Typhon is a student who's really into philosophy. Bad at it. Misquotes things often. Probably says a Lord of the Rings quote trying to be smart. Googles "how 2 be smart"

Sekhmet is a no nonsense teacher, she doesn't like being a teacher, but good at her job.

Individual notes:

We initially thought this up because we were joking about a Subaru-Reinhardt-Julius highschool fanfiction, cause honestly the way they're written in-story would fit that so well, and ended up making this whole thing...

I think the witches should all be staff/teachers of some sort, except for typhon maybe?

We set wilhelm as the principal just by vibes, but we have some ideas that would clash with the concept. maybe the dragon is the principal and nobody's seen him XD

Reinhardt's story in more detail: he's a straight A student (the kind with over 100% in all of his classes) who joined all of the sports but skipped it a lot because he was just so good at it and also he prioritized chess club. Julius is in a similar position. Subaru then invited him to the anime club (being the idiot he [she?] is) and Reinhardt accepted because "friend!!!!" he found his love for shoujo anime and now tries drawing his own. he's okay at drawing girls but awful at drawing guys. He picked up crossdressing from Ferris and Subaru and had a full identity crisis when he realized Ferris was transfem and Subaru is an egg (or closeted transfem or bigender or something). he realized he's just a cis man who likes crossdressing but he had to put his shoujo down for a little while... now he forces Felt to cosplay as a magical girl with him. She secretly has fun! Every time Heinkel shows up outside his classroom window he just... slides his sparkly pink sketchbook back into his backpack

Subaru sews the cosplay fits!

We said sirius is sweeter in this AU because i don't think anything would trigger her more extreme views in this story, and mey can't tell me if that's right or wrong cause they haven't met her yet XD i might be but i think a sweeter role fits her!

Rem and Ferris are in the same vtubing group. they refuse to talk about it

Emilia picked up her outdated language from old shows and anime! She joined the anime club because she was excited to talk about the old old anime she loves, and when subaru talks about waifus she just thinks "ah, like that lum girl!"

Julius has either really really good taste in anime or really really bad taste.

Subaru's just picking up friends cause he's too chaotic to follow the atmosphere, and the people he tried to become friends with just so happen to need someone like him!

Subaru WILL try to woo emilia with anime pick up lines

When Rem develops a sleeping disorder that makes her fall asleep while standing up sometimes, she becomes wheelchair buddies with Ram! Ram is determined to push herself (though she'll let Emilia do it sometimes) and Subaru helps Rem out!

Rom is a very sweet teacher. everyone is scared of him at first but they all call him grandpa at the end (teasing, but lovingly). Felt is actually his adopted granddaughter, and when she got to highschool it got a little awkward but made some very funny moments!

Ram is a very good student in some places but very bad in others. They don't know what to do with her. Sometimes she gets an A and it's clear she didn't cheat but sometimes she fails. sometimes in class she knows everything and WILL show off and sometimes she's straight up asleep. Nobody can figure out the pattern.

Otto will sometimes skip class and teachers either don't notice or just say "oh he's probably doing janitor stuff we shouldn't bother him."

i think i should stop here before i write a whole book

we haven't even got a fanfiction planned or anything we just talked about this for a few hours
