While Tim isn’t exactly the most interesting Robin I think it’s notable that out of all the protégés he comfortably has the best Rogue’s Gallery and it Carrie’s him a long way. Barb has Killer Moth, and formerly the Cavalier I guess, and Damien has his family but all of them are mostly Bruce’s villains. And everyone has rivals in Bruce’s rogue’s gallery but those connections never stick. Tim’s got Anarky, King Snake, and the General as pretty much exclusively his nemeses, and he’s got a great dynamic with all of them, like Lonnie, Dorrance, and Ulysses are all full fledged rogues with history, and most of that history is up against Tim. Steph is the only competition, but Cluemaster is ontologically pathetic by design and it’s tougher to have him be a recurring threat yknow. I think it’s worth putting energy into, because otherwise you end up with Dick’s most recurring foes being Blockbuster and Double Dare, I like Blockbuster and Double Dare more than most, but if they’re your arch-villains then something is wrong.

The og Teen Titans cartoon is WILD

The season 2 episode 5 about Raven’s fear genuinely had me on edge like I WAS SCAREDDDD BRO OH MY GOD

And then the next episode we have a dude with just an entire spider as his head that drags the limp human body along with it.

Henchmen of Killer Moth

Apearing in Batgirl: Year One #1 till #5 where they try to rob a policemens ball before being stopped by a Barbra Gordon in her first fight as Batgirl. Afterwards Killer Moths henchmen most defining trait is show, that being they abandon him the moment his money dryed up. There colouring and wing shaped glasses are a brilliant look, almost as brilliant as what there absences provided Killer Moth. Them leaving does two things, show something that must happen in Gotham more then any villain would like to admit and cement Killer Moth as a loser villain.

I love the design great and it is a missed opportunity that they weren't called Moth Men. It would be interested for him to recognise one as a henchmen for Penguin or Joker years later.

The only other point is he did try to have Firefly as a sidekick in the story and fail, but Killer Moth should have his own Robin. He was originally made as an anti-Batman so his anti-Robin could mirror any of the Robins. Someone trying to get back at Robin for Dick, a street thug for Jason, a wannabe fan for Tim & his own bastard for Damien or Stephanie.

Barbara Gordon is almost the same age as Bruce Wayne

(In the silver age) (but she still should be)

The infantalization of Barbara Gordon has been eating away at my soul for a little while, and i decided to do a little research into the problem and how old she actually is.

The initial search showed that she was, at the oldest 18 when she started as Batgirl, but this was new earth information, and it didn't satisfy me. So I decided to check whether there was any evidence to her age in her first appearance: Detective Comics 359.

She has a PhD. This is the first page. That takes 8 years of study. She is 26 minimum, and the way she talks about it makes me think she's been holding the title of Dr Gordon for at least a year.

This story takes place during the silver age Batman's 7th year, which makes him 27-28 years old at this time. Dick Grayson, for his part, is ~10 years younger than Bruce in this timeline, making him 17-18 here.

This is actually older than I thought she would be, but it works out for

Jim as Bruce's father figure, since his actual child would be the same age.

Most of her popular ships, which are usually with older characters like Bruce and Dinah.

Barbara as Cassandra's mother.

Barbara taking out Killer Moth by herself in her debut.

Her position of leadership relative to basically everyone ever.

I wanted to make this an essay but I'm losing focus so under the cut is more stuff from that first batgirl issue!

So she's also qualified to train people. I want to imagine she got Stephanie to be good at fighting. For all i remember of Stephanie's adventures she actually did.

This is actually very cool, I want equipment breakdowns for everything that everyone uses.

I really like that she has rescued batman twice in her first issue, and they managed to do it without undermining Bruce's skills.

I want to say this is sexist but it's too clever for me to disparage it.

The moment Killer Moth rocks up on the rogue scene, Firefly lost their mind;

"He's a bug and he's hot? Perfect!" So Lynns happily started following Drury around in hopes of catching his attention.

Also if anyone is wondering yes, Lynns wings are different, I finally looked at a real firefly (like I should have done from the beginning). I'm so happy to be able to share a picture of these two together. Working on their ship name, I'm quite torn....
