everyone knows that the bats (mostly) aren’t powered, or invincible, but it’s hard to really get a grasp on it
with the way they all move and act in and even out of the field, it’s unnerving in a way. they all have a certain aura of otherworldly power, even the newer members
everyone of the original members of the league has had a run in with batman injured and in need of help, being the first few to earn the vulnerability and subsequently trust from the bats
when wally held dick’s limp body in his hands as he rushed him back to the base for the first time, feeling his best friends pulse stop between his arms and subsequently jostling the injuries more. he almost wasn’t fast enough, dick was out of commission for three months
or when roy was told of jason’s death, ollie had to hold the kid as he scream cried for a friend and the life his friend never got to live, even though they were just joking the other day about how nothing could touch the bats
with kon still not 100% understanding his powers, and understating tim’s calcium intake, felt the bone crush in tim’s arm underneath his touch during a training exercise. it takes years for kon to trust himself again
jon and damian fought a lot, and damian was as stubborn as jon was determined. both are young when damian tells jon to not treat him ‘fragile’ and it ends with damian in the infirmary, and jon shaking and crying, telling his father he needs to put himself into a kryptonite prison for doing so
jefferson being the leader of the outsiders and understanding that, but it still being hard to grasp with both cass and duke. both are strong, and often taken for granted, but that makes them more powerful, enhanced it enough that when they both get knocked down by the villain of the week it’s really startling
and it’s a cycle that never ends, everyone seeing the bats as godly, and then inevitably losing it and freaking out when it’s revealed that they bleed like anyone else

I have the controversial opinion that maybe, just maybe we stop wanting to go after people with pitchforks for getting characters wrong and not reading the comics inviting them to easy and accessible ways of and making our own content with comic accurate representation
people might feel less anxious about starting comics and misinformation won't spread as easily

How much violence do you think Batman should be able to get away with and still remain a hero or vigilante while also not losing his characterization?
There are times where no lives are in immediate danger and he only needs to get information but then he just casually breaks bones, effectively torturing someone. Like in the videogames Telltale Batman or the Arkham games' verse or even the movies and comics where he dishes out way more violence than necessary. That scene where he threatens to crush a guy's head with the Batmobile and actually has the car start rolling over his head, cracking it slightly. Or the interrogation of Eli in the Telltale game where Batman can pretty much brutalize and torture an already frightened criminel if the player so chooses. Or the comics, where he sometimes says he enjoys hurting criminals and sends them to the ER without a second thought.
Also, do his kids know just how brutal Bruce can be on a Tuesday just cause he feels like a criminel deserves it? After a patrol, he'll reprimand them for breaking someone's collarbone or if he thinks they took it too far even though he does that all the time. It's not like the Batkids never do it themselves, but when they do, they're mostly in extremely emotional states and not a cold clinical mindset. One could argue Jason and Cass are exessively violent too but, well, Jason is an anti-hero (or villain) and Cass is still learning how far is too far.
And if the kids didn't know/realise, what would happen if they saw a recording of Batman absolutely dismantling a criminal in a detached sort of way (maybe a rogue maybe not, whatever would be worse ig) and then having to reconcile that that's the man who's like a father to them.
It's a very interesting question, and I suspect you'll get a different answer from everyone you ask.
My take is that it comes down to two things: intention and likelihood. Bruce's line for injury/torture/death sits somewhere between probably won't kill them or cause grievous injury and could cause death or grievous injury.
Throwing a guy off a high-up roof isn't just likely to kill someone, it was likely intended to do so. As we see in Batman Begins, you can throw someone off a (low) roof and not kill them, without the intention of killing them, and without the high likelihood of the act killing them.
Breaking a man's leg for information probably won't kill him, but it could! The break could be done wrong, or heal wrong, and cause a blood clot that killed the man. But was breaking the man's leg intended to kill him? Was it done with full knowledge that the break would likely result in death? Is that something a reasonable individual can even evaluate on their own?
The argument can be made that hitting someone in the head could result in death. So is Bruce risking his no-kill rule on a technicality when he punches people into walls? Does dying from a complicated TBI years later count?
I find the branding example in BVS a fascinating discussion of this point. Bruce doesn't kill the men he brands, but he effectively sets the men up to be killed in prison. Is it the same? Does he intend for the brand to kill the men? Does he have knowledge of the likelihood of death as a result of his brand? Does Lex's meddling actually change any of that when it's revealed later?
The third thing I haven't brought up but that you did is Bruce's enjoyment/active participation in all of this. Does he hurt people because it's effective? Is it ever gratuitous? Is he detached from the suffering he causes, viewing it as a means to an end? Does Gotham play by different rules -- i.e., is torture and grievous bodily injury ever acceptable in Gotham when it wouldn't be in other cities? Is Bruce a man willing to do what it takes at the end of his rope, or is he a man who resorts to violence when there are still other viable options? Somewhere in between?
I do agree that, with the addition of Robins and other family members, the violence likely tones down unless absolutely necessary. Hurting people shouldn't be enjoyable, but it is downright painful for some people (not Bruce) to witness firsthand.

Literally went around thinking about this amazing fic all day, where Steph helps Jason after he has a little mishap with the bats. Turns out it was just a daydream I had… I don’t really know how I feel about that

I've been thinking about a pit assumed mermaid Danny so long. Like the GIW gets their hands on Danny and Danny ends up running away after being dissected and lands right into one of the Lazarus pits not the one that the league of assassin has and he ends up finding out that all of the pits are connected to each other so he uses them to like you know travel around and not be stuck in one place while healing. Damien standing by the pits without being supervised though something down there like just a child being curious he been here is a grumbling thank you. After a while Damien and Danny just get a big brother little sibling relationship and Damian when he leaves to go to his dad is like I promise to come back to save you Free you from the Lazarus pits. Couple years later after Damien established himself as Robin and a barrel agent with his family Damien's always been talking about going back and saving his friend Danny and the rest of the Batfamily is just convinced that Danny's like I'm imaginary friend. So when Damien gets kidnapped by the League of assassins and they're all getting ready to go back home Damian just walked up to the Lazarus pits and goes Daddy I'm here to save you you can come out now then it starts rumbling and outcomes this giant electric glowing green eyes mermaid being like Oh Damian you came back. Sorry for the rambling it's just that I really been thinking about this idea also I love your works.
"Robin! Where are you going!?"
Damian ignores Richard's call. He knows they should be running to the exit where Drake or Todd should fly around with the escape helicopter. He also knows they don't have time to make detours because if they missed that window of escape, the League would not allow them a second chance.
Damian knows. But this is the closest he's gotten to Danny since he was sent away. Now that he knows better, now that he is aware of just how horrible Grandfather and his lot really were, he couldn't just leave his friend here.
Every day that passed, Danny was at risk of being discovered, and who knew what the League of Assassins would want to do to him?
He needed to get him out.
Tonight, Danny was coming to Gotham with him, one way or another.
"Robin, we don't have time for this!"
"I know! I know, but I can't just leave him!" he shouted back, breaking into a sprint down familiar hallways. He dodged a sword swing, tucking and rolling between the legs of an assassin. He twists mid-landing to throw in a Scorpio kick to the head.
He only waits long enough to hear the man grunt. Damian is running away even before the thump of the body hits the ground. He's so close.
"Robin! Nightwing! We're fighting them off, but we can't hold the position for long," Drake shouts into the com that Richard had given him. "We need to do the extraction in two minutes or we're all going to be trapped here!"
He wants to shout at them but can't waste even a second. Damian forces himself to push faster and ignore the burn in his legs as he rounds down the last hallway, attacking the special guards at the gate of the pits.
Unlike the rest of the castle, these two are some of the best the league offers. Damian struggles to find an opening between them and their teamwork. He can also feel the time ticking away with each punch, swing, dodge, and heart-pounding killing blow that nearly lands on his person.
Just a little further. He thinks, panting as he blocks sword after sword, hissing in pain every time one of them manages to make small cuts through his defense. I just have to get a little further!
Bang! Bang!
The two bullets fly, breaking the guard's knees and pinning him down in a sword stalemate. Damian has a moment to thank the heavens that Todd and Richard appeared not even a second later—fighting away the two remaining guards. He watches them fight for a moment, trying to catch his breath.
One minute! Drake hisses, the sounds of gunfire and the wind of the helicopters' wind nearly drowning his voice.
Damian glances at the door, and then his brothers fight, and he makes his decision. He rushes to the door, kicks it open, and sprints down the pathway into the cave. He hears the battle pick up speed behind him, along with Todd's outraged cry of his name, but he does not slow down until the slight green glow comes into view.
"Danny!" he shouts, hoping his voice's sound waves can travel through the green liquid to what is hidden below. "I've come to rescue you!"
Are you kidding me? Todd yells in the coms. We're risking everything while being outnumbered and outgunned so Demon Brat can get his imaginary best friend!?
Damin tushes to the pit, leaning over, trying to spot the mermaid in the glowing water. He splashes the surfaces in the same way he used as a child, when calling for the creature, face darkening at the causation meanwhile. "He is not imaginary! Danny is real!"
Robin, we don't have time for this! Richard screams. We have to go! Now!
"In a minute!" Damian splashes the water more urgently. He could stick his head in, but he was healthy right now, minus the few cuts, and he could not afford to lose his head mid-escape.
We don't have a minute! Drake cries. A worrisome beeping noise accompanies his words. A loud boom is heard along with Drake's screech. I've been hit! I'm going down!
No!
"Danny, please! I need you!"
A small head of pure white hair peaks up from the water, gentle green eyes staring at him. The glowing green hides the rest of his face since the creature did not go further than his nose about the water, but Damian can tell he's smiling.
"Hello, little one."
Damian allows himself one moment of relief before the world starts to shake, and Danny leaves the Lazarus Pits for the first time in fourteen years. He rises out of the water, long, glowing angle fish tail darkening into shadows as his form shifts into a thing of nightmares.
Damian smiles up at him. "Hello, brother. Can you help my other brothers and me escape? "
Danny doesn't even have to consider the request already growing bigger and bigger until Damian is no bigger than his thumb. He then moves grabbing Damian in his ice-cold grasp.
Danny flies through the walls and picks up Ricard and Todd before they go up and out through solid stone. Damian closes his eyes, pressing against Danny's body to protect himself from whiplash and the strong wind.
Danny is insanely fast, which he proves by diving for the falling aircraft and not only catching up to it but also managing to lift it out of the sky. He angles his hand against the doorway, shaking his palm so Damian, Ricahrd, and Todd all tumble out of the gaint being hand into the safety of the chopper.
Danny then swings his massive body towards the horizon, ignoring the Leauge's attempts to capture him. The island is out of sight in seconds, and Damian can breathe a little easier, even though he is pressed against the wall with his screaming siblings.
Danny is going a little too fast in his escape.
"What's happening!?" Drake cries and checks to wiggle back a little from how fast they traveled.
"I invited Danny to live with us!"
"You did what!?"

I am a little high rn so this is my incoherent rambling about Jason Todd and friends:
DC PLEASE BRING BACK EDDIE BLOOMBERG OMG!!! Bring back him and Jason being friends!!!!
You know who knows them both???? ROSE WILSON
BAM! NEW OUTLAWS RUN!! Throw in Zachary Zatara too!!!
Honestly just sever Jason from the batfamily for a little bc I’m tired of how he’s being treated
Asian Jason Todd I <3 you!
Red head Jason Todd I <3 you!!
Jason Todd with an autopsy scar I <3 you!!!
Stop using Pit Madness as an excuse for Jason’s actions please!! It removes his agency over his actions which is a big part of his character! (And it’s not canon)
Also something very controversial for the fanon girlies(gn):
PLEASE stop with the Jason Todd was Tim Drake’s Robin 🙏🙏 it was cute the first few times but I need you to know that was never a thing, a lot of Tim’s original run was spent with him thinking (I’m not gonna die like stupid Jason Todd) Tim is a Dick Grayson Fanboy(tm) Use that!!! It’s fun and cute too!!
And on the subject of Dick and Tim, please stop saying Dick threatened to send Tim to Arkham when he fired him from Robin! There’s so much angst in that without Arkham
Kyle Rayner Jason Todd reunion when? Roy Harper Jason Todd reunion when?? Eddie Bloomberg reunion when???
More parallels between Steph and Jason When????
Pleasepleaseplease retire the Joker for like 10 years??
And make Two-Face the main rogue for a little bit??? I promise he’s a much better narrative foil to Bruce🥰
Also stop making Bruce hit his kids thanks!
BRING BACK THE ALL-BLADES

A/N - What's that? Is there some actual plot here? My, I think it is! 😂 I know, it's been quite a bit of time between updates again. Sorry about that, this (and the next couple of parts) took a while to outline first and then obviously life kept getting in the way. But it's here now! And the time between updates shouldn't be quite as long. Thank you for being patient with me. Anyway, enough rambling, enjoy! 💜

Tumblr media
The wind ruffled his cape, making it blow out behind him. He was still on the rooftop, a frown on his face. You were already gone, having stormed off a few minutes ago. Your blood boiling, no doubt. Much like his was right now. The only thing he didn’t know was whether his anger was directed toward you or himself.
You had a talent for getting underneath his skin. In record time as well. It was something that he had quickly discovered not long after you had accepted the invitation to join the Justice League. Somehow, you were worse than Hal and Oliver combined. All week you had been pushing each other’s buttons and tonight you both had finally hit your boiling points. It was bound to happen at some point. In truth, he was a little surprised it hadn’t happened sooner. And while he was sure you had meant every last word you had shouted at him, he hadn’t.
He hadn’t thought about it. The filter between his brain and mouth failing as he snapped. He supposed he should count himself lucky that you could, mostly, see through his bullshit. If you didn’t he imagined that you would have quit long before now. Though, after tonight, there was now a very real chance that you would. And if you did, he was positive you would make sure it was known why you had walked away. He could already invision the line of people that would be ready to deck him for it.
With you long gone and the crisis in Star City now averted, Bruce left the rooftop. Grappling and gliding to where he had left the batwing.
The entire flight back to Gotham he replayed the argument over and over again. Analysing it. Like always.
“At first I thought it was because you wanted to make sure that I was cut out for this…”
That was true! When it came to flying solo, you were more than capable. It was one of the things about you that had caught his eye. Obviously, working with a team was far different. You had more than just yourself to worry about. He had to make sure you could do that.
“...now I think it’s because you want me to quit… For whatever reason you’ve decided I’m no longer good enough…”
That wasn’t true. He didn’t want you to quit. In the short time that you had been a member of the League, you had quickly become an invaluable member of the team. To say that it would be a shame to lose you was an understatement. Not that he was every going to say that aloud. Especially not after tonight. Chances were you wouldn’t even believe him so why waste his breath?
You had been right to call him out. If he had thought you incapable or not good enough, then you really wouldn’t have set foot on the Watchtower. But you were good enough. You were more than good enough. He knew that better than anyone. He had looked into you, put your name forward. Not that you knew or needed to know that, as far as he was concerned. And to say that he was nitpicking just to rile you up to have sex was ridiculous. Sex was just a byproduct of adrenaline caused by the arguments and being in such close quarters. It was a surprise that it hadn’t started far sooner.
It had become a vicious cycle. That he could admit to. And now it was one that had finally been broken by you. Not that he cared. He didn’t need to have sex with you. There were plenty of people out there that he could sleep with instead. Besides, you were teammates and relationships like that could get messy, fast. It was best that it was brought to an end before something happened that would jeopardise future missions. If you hadn’t done it tonight, then he certainly would have.
The sound of his boots on the metal platforms and stairs that made up this portion of the batcave, that hung over a dark abyss were loud and echoed off of the walls. The bats, high above him, squeaked in dismay, dropping from their perches to either fly deeper into the cavern system or leave it altogether.
He tugged his cowl off, setting it down onto the desk of the batcomputer as he took a seat, sighing deeply.
“Another fight with Mr Queen?” Alfred asked as he set a silver tray down, a cup, teapot and a plate of cookies on it, and poured him some tea.
Bruce grunted in response. All he wanted to do now was focus on the keyboard and screen in front of him, no longer wishing to think about what had happened tonight. There was still a few hours before dawn and he had a lot of case files to look into. He also really didn’t want to get into this with Alfred. It wasn’t any of his business.
“As talkative as ever, I see,” he muttered as he walked away to tend to other things. Alfred had decided a long time ago, since this whole vigilante business had started, that if Bruce wished to sulk over something then he could bloody well do it alone.
According to his phone, the sun had risen several hours ago. He had yet to even think about making his way up into the manor and toward his bedroom. His mind wouldn’t still, the gears just kept turning. Focusing on the argument, no matter what he did to try and steer his mind away. The anger in your features, that weren’t hidden by your mask, and your body, the venom that had dripped in each word, the clenching of your fist as you debated whether to try and deck him or not. In the end you had decided not to. Likely because he would have easily caught your hand had you tried.
He shook his head. It shouldn’t be bothering him this much. And yet…
His thoughts were broken by the sound of boots marching toward him. He frowned, turning away from the disassembled equipment on the workbench to see who it was. Diana. Of course. She was angry, a storm dancing in her eyes and her fists clenched by her side. The only thing that he could think was that you had actually done it. You had quit and let her know that he was the reason you were walking away. Bruce swallowed thickly and composed himself, ready to be run through with a sword.
“And what did you say this time?” she demanded, stopping in front of him, crossing her arms against her chest.
“She quit?”
“Not yet, but I don’t doubt she’s thinking about it,” she replied.
You hadn’t quit? He felt relieved, a weight he hadn’t been truly aware of lifting from him. He couldn’t dwell on that feeling for long, as Diana continued speaking.
“Now I’m not going to pretend like I know what’s going on between the two of you, but whatever it is I suggest you figure it out.”
“You’ve had this same conversation with her?”
“I will be. I came to talk to you first since you’re the one continuously instigating these arguments.”
He grumbled in response. Instigator?” It made him sound like a damn child.
“I’m not apologising–”
Diana scoffed. “When have you ever apologised for anything. Just figure it out.”
It had been weeks since Bruce had last fought with you. Of course, he had barely said two words to you, outside of missions, because you never stuck around for too long. You were keeping your distance from him. Not that he could blame you.
He couldn’t lie. The distance, it bothered him. And it wasn’t because of the looks that he received every time you left a room he entered. Outside of all of this he lived in the public eye. He was used to dirty looks being thrown his way. Thing was he couldn’t put his finger on why it bothered him so much. It wasn’t affecting missions. You were civil and you fought alongside him like nothing had ever happened between the two of you.
Was it the result of your own conversation with Diana? Or had you decided on this shortly after Star City?
His own conversation with her had continued to lingered on his mind. It had made him wonder if it was possible to start over with you. It was clear to him now that no, that wasn’t possible. You wished to have nothing to do with him, outside of missions, and he would respect that. He told himself that things were better this way. Less complicated.
The sound of your footsteps passing by the laboratory broke Bruce’s thoughts, as well as his focus on dismantling Lex Luthor’s newest kryptonite weapon. Looking away from the weapon, he frowned. He could sworn that he was the only one left awake on the Watchtower.
The battle against Lex had been hard on all of them. The corrupted billionaire’s newest mech hitting harder and causing more destruction than any of the previous ones combined. Things certainly would have gone much smoother had Diana been with them, but the warrior goddess was off elsewhere. Busy dealing with gods and monsters and other things he would rather not think about. The battle had also served as a reminder that the production of his own mech, meant exactly for situations like that one, was taking far too long.
It also had him concerned. Super villains breaking out and working together, all of Lex’s newest tech, his own city being a little too quiet. He wasn’t one to overly rely on gut feelings, preferring physical evidence and facts, something that he could see, but he couldn’t shake it. Something big was headed their way and this was simply the start of it. They needed to be ready.
The kryptonite weapon attached to the mech meant that Clark had suffered the worst injuries out of everybody. As soon as Lex had been apprehended, he had been Bruce’s focus, making sure that he didn’t die. Lois would likely kill him if that happened and he wished to avoid that. It hadn’t stopped him from noticing you though. The way you were favouring your leg, the tear in your suit where blood was running from your thigh, making its way down your leg.
Bruce had been worried about your injury, like he would about anyone of his other teammates, of course. Years as a vigilante had taught him how bad a leg injury could be. He had wanted to see to it himself. With his training and degree, he would be the best option to, but Clark took priority and you refused to be in the same room with him.
Honestly, he was still worried. Before he could stop himself, he was already out of his seat. Making his way out of the laboratory and down the hallway. He was already halfway down the hallway when he heard one of the zeta tubes starting to fire up. He picked up his pace.
In his head, he had it all planned out. Like any concerned teammate, he was simply going to ask if you were okay and if you would like from him to take a look. Make sure that it wasn’t severe. That was it, but when he entered the room, he didn’t get a chance to even open his mouth before you were stopping him.
“I’m really not interested, Batman,” you told him, looking at him over your shoulder, your voice cold and gaze hard. You moved away from the console in front of you and stepping into the blinding light. Leaving him alone on the Watchtower.
In hindsight, he probably should have expected that.
As he headed back to the laboratory, he made a mental note to give Dinah some information she could send your way to help with your injury. You were close with her and it would be easier than trying to corner you.
Bruce worked well into the night after that. Or at least he tried to. His mind refused to focus on the task at hand. Instead it constantly drifted back to you. More specifically how it had felt to have you beneath him. The sweet noises spilling from your lips that sounded so much better than when you were arguing with him. It left him aching and missing those moments. Which he found ridiculous. The two of you hadn’t even been in a relationship. There wasn’t anything there to miss.
One thing was clear to him, he never should have dragged you into that storage room to begin with. He really didn’t know what he had been thinking. That time or any of the others. All it had done was make everything worse and that now there was no way in hell it could ever be fixed. Not that he could see anyway.
None of it mattered in the end. Things were better this way. Less complicated. Less chance of emotions getting in the way and less chance of missions going awry.
It was only after Diana had finally returned to the Watchtower and disturbed him, that he finally realised the time. It was well into the next morning and, no matter how much he would prefer to stay here and continue working, Bruce Wayne had places to be. Huffing, he locked up the now disassembled weapon and left the laboratory and began to head back to his cave.
Dick flipped through the air and landed on the mat. He had come back to Gotham for a visit because he missed Alfred’s cooking and Tim and Barbara had messaged him about Bruce acting strangely. He stepped off of the mat, grabbing his water bottle and taking a sip just as Bruce returned to the batcave.
“Finally! We were about to send out a search party!” he called out to him. He didn’t get a response like he expected he would. Not even a grumble, grunt or a glare. Instead he was simply ignored.
“Told you something was up with him,” Tim said from where he was sitting, eyes still glued to the laptop screen in front of him.
“Yeah.” He took another sip from his water bottle. “Selina’s not in town right now, is she?”
Anyone who knew Bruce knew about the very long and very complicated relationship that he shared with the world’s greatest thief. And no matter how hard they tried to make things work it always ended with two broken hearts and an even broodier Bat with an even shorter fuse. It had always been that way, for as long as he could remember.
Tim shook his head. “Barbara already checked. Selina is out of the country and has been since their last break up.”
Dick nodded. “Interesting.” And it was interesting. If it wasn’t Selina that had him acting like this, then who did? Who had gotten underneath his skin so badly? “Looks like we have an investigation on our hands.”
“He’s not going to be happy about that,” Tim frowned, finally looking away from the laptop screen.
He shrugged. “He’s rarely happy about anything. Come on, we should meet with Barbara and figure out where we should start.”

just finished watching batman vs the teenage mutant ninja turtles and tumblr you have failed me. WHERE IS THE CONTENT. i have so many feelings about this movie and they may be incoherent but here we go. bit of a longer post so i cut it here
first of all this is probably my new favorite piece of batman media i loved almost everything about this movie.
starting the movie off strong with my wife barbara gordon. she was so funny in this movie and i loved how much of her smarts and fighting skills were shown cause she can do it allll.
bruce was a little grumpy but when he eventually came around and listened to raph’s speech and agreed that they’re a family i was like 🥹🥹 this is the batman i wanna see.
mikey and alfred’s friendship 💗💗 would love to see alfred actually using mikey’s skateboard.
speaking of mikey I LAUGHED SO HARD THE ENTIRE TIME CAUSE OF HIM 😭😭 his entire vibe killed me lmfao. he was so unserious and i love that about him.
donnie came through as usual and him and babs being the smart duo who wear purple was very nice it made me smile. also it was very cute how often he hid in his shell.
raph was impulsive as usual but he also came through like always. i didn’t expect him to be the one to give the speech but i realized it was actually very fitting.
damian was a little whitewashed unfortunately but his very obviously going through puberty voice was adorable cause he kept trying to be intimidating but i couldn’t take him seriously. i thought he would mention that ra’s was his grandfather to the turtles as a shock factor but it didn’t bother me all that much. i liked his team up with raph bc they’re both secretly softies on the inside.
leo i love you sorry i don’t have a lot to say but keep being eldest daughter coded.
i do wish the rest of the batfamily had been there cause i think it would’ve been nice to see how similar they are to each other and also just explore their dynamics but if we get a sequel maybe they can do something about that. i wanna see jason and raph team up (if jason is red hood in this universe). and maybe HOPEFULLY (not very hopeful at all 😔) we can get the ENTIREE batfamily introduced. i know it’s based on comics and stuff though so i don’t know how they would work that out i’m just rambling. oh i also think we should see splinter!! he and bruce could bond over their teenage vigilante children.
idc about everyone else but i will say ra’s saying “maybe another needs to die” in reference to jason was UNCALLED FOR.

So how does it feel to chat with some of the batfamily?
concerning
They know- well they know a lot. Aren't most of them detectives or something. Is that like, a needed attribute to be a part of the little group.
Also, why's it the bat family if there's only two bats? Then there's a number of robins (which are a type of bird!) who are probably just the other heroes now that they're older.
What type of animal is a Spoiler. And an oracle? Actually, if oracle is like a cool mystical blind bat or something, that'd be really cool.
Robins a robin, duh. Red Hood is... something? I think a number of animals have names like that as a distinction of their red coloration. Red Robin is yet another bird. And a food brand. Yum. Nightwing- wtf type of bird is he? Is he a bird or something else that takes flight?
Signal is clearly the bat signal, and I love that for him.
I'm rambling- nevermind

You know, that recent post with more thoughts on bio mom!Selina has given me an idea. Because Bruce and Selina, in one version of canon, have a daughter. Helena. Huntress. Consider: Another twins au, but with Danny and Helena instead
You have activated my DC knowledge, and I hope you know that >:3
Helena's character is a little more complicated and I am here to ramble about that before I get to the meat of this ask. There is a universe where Helena grew up to become Batwoman, not Huntress. And that is because she was raised by her parents and didn't get separated. But since you specifically mentioned Huntress, I'll try to stick with that one.
For anyone that doesn't know this part of DC comics that well, something you should know is that there are two Huntresses. Helena Bertinelli and Helena "Bertinelli", otherwise known as Helena Wayne. In the New Earth and Prime Earth comic series, their version of Huntress is the real Helena Bertinelli, whose family was a part of the mafioso and she was dubbed a "mafia princess".
But then, there's Earth 2, where Helena Wayne was actually Robin before being sent to another universe alongside Kara (more specifically, Power Girl) and ended up taking the alias of Helena Bertinelli, who had existed in this world but had been missing/presumed dead.
So where does that leave us? [Added a Keep Reading because this got long lol]
Since you specifically addressed Helena as Huntress, I'm going to be using this comic run:
You could probably write a story about how Danny finally finds Helena again and the two reunite, thus revealing that Helena had lied to almost everyone and she was indeed Helena Wayne once upon a time. And this of course would lead to revelations and heart-to-heart discussions about Bruce and Selina's relationship and what kind of parents they were. I like to imagine that when Danny reunited with his family for whatever reason that separated them, Danny becomes Robin as well. So there are two Robins stalking the streets and scaring the living daylights out of criminals.
However... if you wanted to make things a little more interesting, we could take this version of the comic and take it for a little spin.
In the original canon, Helena has already operated as Huntress for years before Damian figured out the deception. She's already an adult, and largely on her own.
But in this case, we can make Helena freshly from the other universe. Lost and unsure and all on her own. Enter Batfamily. The moment they get her in their sights they realize that oh, she's Bruce's kid from another world/timeline/whatever their first assumption is. And then, when they get her to open up, she reveals that she has a twin. Bruce is Unwell at the information and Helena is inconsolable because they only just got him back, and now they've lost her. Her parents are never going to let her out of the house again after this!!
Meanwhile, Danny is losing his mind and their parents are trying to do everything to get her back and it's a whole mess.
If you want to make things a little more interesting, you could make Danny and Helena the only Wayne children, so that when she goes to the other universe she's super taken aback by how many siblings she could've had and "isn't that our neighbor Tim? Tim Drake? Danny's bestest friend ever? What are you doing in that egghead suit, Danny would be appalled to see you dressed like that."
Something I will have to say is that we probably don't get a lot of AUs like this because the rest of the Batfamily would probably be adults and there's a rather large age gap between Damian (as the youngest) and Helena + Danny, in this case. Unless you have them from another world, of course.
Think... Batman Beyond, with Terry McGinnis. It's an amazing series, but pretty much all of the main characters that the fandom typically writes about are retired. There is no Nightwing or Red Hood or Red Robin. Damian is alive but he's back with the League of Assassins. Let's not talk about how Tim and Barbara are married.
I think this AU could be really fun, and I'd be interested in trying it out some day. But it is one of the trickier instances. But no less exciting because of it. ;3

CW: Baby trapping and toxic behavior
I depict y/n as being someone who is relatively open-minded and open about what she wants. Having that said, there would probably be moments where y/n casually points towards what life she wants with Jeremiah. It would be more jokingly, but she "jokes" about having kids and living in a house with a white picket fence so much that it's like…
You aren't really joking, are you?
y/n: What's the point of having sex if you aren't trying to make a baby?
Barbara: *too stunned to say anything*
Jeremiah: *chokes on his drink*
y/n: …
y/n: Yes, do I have a list of baby names.
Now with in mind, I could see Post-Spray Jeremiah trying to baby trapping y/n. Doesn't care about the baby only about what it means for them. He'll take care of her and their baby. Then she can live out that little domestic life she always talked about just as long as she stays with him.
I only say Post-Spray Jeremiah because Per-Spray would never think of such a thing. It's immoral and they were both too young to be have a child.
I could see two different things happening
y/n could get an abortion because she doesn't want anything to do this him and does not want to the father of her child being an unstable monster.
If she does that, then Jeremiah would bring it up when least expected. y/n is pretty mentally fragile, so I could see her balling her eyes out when he starts saying the worst things imaginable. Everyone in the family is sportive of what ever her choice is.
If y/n keeps the baby, it would be more leverage for Jeremiah. If she gets out of line he'll threaten the baby before it's even born.
Even if she "behaves" he wouldn't really care. Doesn't care that he's brought a life into this horrible situation. He'll act like he does just so she have that image of a normal life. That way she can stay put.
He'd prefer if the baby looked like y/n rather him. Wouldn't even bond with the child until they're able to speak full sentences. That child it going to be a Mama's boy/girl without a doubt. Probably every sheltered too that is if the batfamily can’t save her.
Oh, my God. What if they had twins tho. If they're both boys y/n would jokingly say, "That one is Jeremiah and this one is Jerome." Jeremiah doesn't find it funny at all and if they have his natural features (ex:red hair) then he'd scowl.
One being all for Jeremiah and keeping y/n with him. While the other wants a new dad that doesn't neglect them. They'd take any one to be their new dad as long as Mom is treated nicely too. 😊
Hell, they'd might just call Jerome Dad because he'd probably be a slightly better parent and partner. Jerome is completely smug about the idea, but also feels for the kid. Having been neglected himself it just hits too close to home.
Could see that twin wanting to be a vigilante or just wanting to murder Jeremiah. Then the other twin following in Jeremiah's steps and looking up to him. y/n is trying her best to have some sort of normalcy in their lives, but Jeremiah makes that impossible.
They're both every different, but they both are Mama's boys. y/n would be so embarrassed, but flattered being called a milf.
I might write about it more if anyone wants me to. Just cutting it off here before I start my rambling and go over the character limit. I also don't think many would be interested in this idea and/or would be uncomfortable by it.
Stay safe, peace. ✌️

Hello,
(without judgment) may i know why you like tim? i mean the reasons why he is the "best" robin for many people, (according to you). You seem to really know his character
(my english is really bad, sorry)
Ah, okay, so this seems like a serious ask, so I'll sit down and actually answer it.
I like Tim because, at his core, he believes he is a good person, and does good things. Is this true? Well, in most cases, yes. His morals can be loose sometimes, and he's always this close to snapping and becoming a genocidal dictator, but his conviction that he is a good person and those aren't "good person things to do" stop him. He's silly and dumb and so so complex and seems generic on the surface, but I swear he is so, so much more.
He's undoubtedly a good Robin. He was the first to get the Robin suit pants (thank God for that, though the scaly shorts were cute), and his writers loved him and loved Robin. Tim’s hardworking, a fast learner, kind, canonically the most intelligent Robin and a better detective than Batman himself. (Not to say any of the Robins are stupid, they're all intelligent and amazing detectives, but this is Tim’s thing, y’know?) I consider him the best because he was diligent and reasonably cooperative (at least cooperative enough that it didn't interrupt the mission), intelligent, compassionate, a good fighter, and quippy, all in perfectly Robin-sized proportions. He did a lot as Robin, achieved a lot, and that definitely adds to my conviction.
He's also got his own personal agenda half the time that he pushes secretly or blatantly, depending on if it'll cause problems that will stop him from achieving said agenda. He thinks out of the box to achieve his ends, and has a ruthless streak a mile wide. He's also such a loser yet makes fun of others, and that's hilarious to me.
For me, at least, he's just...relatable. He's flawed and bossy and sometimes paranoid and a Batman and Robin (then later, Nightwing) superfan and he's funny and tends to overthink a lot and he fails, sometimes. The narrative tends to be kind to him, and many characters admit he's likable or at least worth their time (I'm thinking of Lady Shiva here, basically training him because she basically thought he was batshit insane ("thought outside of the box" or whatever) and that appealed to her). He's what I call little-brother shaped, in that he's annoying in a way that you're accustomed to find endearing.
Tim has good relationships with a lot of fan favorites, batfamily members or not, and has a tendency to get in other people's business with the insistence he can help. People, whether with shock, humor, derision or resignation, tend to let him, leading to his genuinely ridiculous amount of teamups. He's friendly and fun(ny) to be around generally, even when he's moping. (See: Red Robin 2009). He was remarkably popular in school but too wrapped up in Robin to take up the many, many invitations to hang out he got daily. He's a nerd but hates school and dropped out. He's unable to stay in one place, maybe partly due to him moving apartments a lot as a child.
...I'm rambling. Anyway, here's posts that get into Tim's relationship with his parents. These next ones are about Jack Drake; one that I agree with probably due to my father being a lot like Jack Drake, one that's kinder to him than I'll ever be, but looks at it from both angles and I agree with the harsher take, and one that's got a lot of Bruce but a lot of Tim about Jack as well. TDLR; Tim's dad was shitty, but not shitty enough for anyone whose name isn't Dick Grayson to really...notice? Or do anything about? Which is relatable to me, at least. Jack dies when Tim’s 16, kicking off the worst year of his life.
Tim's also got average parents that tend to be on the side of bad, in Jack's sake. His parents weren't shown on-panel a lot, but from what we know, they ship him off to boarding school once they can. (Which, hey, no judgement, better than leaving him alone) He stops going to boarding school when he's uhh, 15-16. He's 13-14 when his mom dies and his dad is sent into a coma. He mourns her. Jack gets out of his coma eventually, dates then marries his much-younger physical therapist who's a better mother-figure to Tim than Jack is a good dad, is a shitty dad (he knows barely anything about his kid yet keeps exerting control over him, he lets Tim down time and time again, he's shown to have violent tendencies though it's worth noting he never hits Tim on-panel. Some of this can be attributed to him and Tim just being different, but Tim's his son. He should put in more effort than he does.), makes up for it a bit, then dies.
This sounds like Tim propaganda, and it is. He's forgiving and sarcastic and very quick to make nice with people that've hurt him in the past. He's also got a chronic case of Youngest Child Syndrome due to him being the youngest for so long, so he's there's that undertone of brattiness/entitlement when interacting with the older family members he's close to, that screams he's used to being put first and expects it, even. It's endearing though. He loves his friends and his family, makes sure to let them now, and makes sure they know when he feels unloved so they can fix it. He proudly parallels Dick and quietly parallels Bruce, and is the most Bruce-like off all the batkids. King of compartmentalization for the mission.
(Also, he's bi and I see him as heavily ADHD/autism coded (a bit of both in my opinion) he's also absolutely insane btw.)
He's just!!! I'm so fond of him, and I see why other are too. He seems over-hyped, but like...he's genuinely amazing. He didn't create the Robin mantle, but he gave it so much life and joy and he deserves the world.
Also dw your English is perfect here!

part fourteen
❝ BIRD OF PREY ❞
SATURDAY — AUGUST 8 — 8:10AM
ASTEN SUGGESTED THEY FIND THE SECRET KEEPER’S BOSS FIRST. Which was easier said than done, considering they were thirteen and ten and the person they were trying to find had a telepathic metahuman at their disposal. (If they even existed, considering the Secret Keeper was so twisted she might just brand herself for fun and not have a boss at all.)
But even then, that didn’t stop Asten. He rivaled Tim when it came to his case-focus ratio. He’d begun his near-endless search right after they talked about it, and he was making a running list of every single person in Drew, Gotham, and Bludhaven that had gone missing in the past four months. Gathering any and all information he could weasel out of the media. (Why, Bentley wasn’t sure.)
After about two hours of list making mixed with random chatter and questions about each others lives, Bentley’s willpower to stay awake tapered off, and he faded away on his side of the bed with nothing more than Asten’s Crime-Alley-laced Portuguese accent to lure him to sleep. And it did a pretty good job of it. Because he was utterly and completely dead to the world until repetitive, incessant vibrating drew him back out of his slumber.
The sunshine was beaming against Bentley’s blackout curtains, making the room dim instead of gold. He moved in response to the vibrations at the same time Asten did. His clock read 8:17am, and he was really glad it was Saturday. No one would expect him to get up until at least nine or ten, given their strange circumstances.
Asten, who was still sitting up and staring at the screen of Tim’s computer that Bentley now claimed, fished his phone out from under the dark sheets and pressed it to his ear with a quiet: “Hello?”
A loud, urgent, rambling voice was what came back. Bentley couldn’t tell what it was saying, but Asten blinked and shook his head.
“Wait, wait, wait, man, slow down. What?” He muttered, rubbing at his eyes and putting the phone on speaker. “Go again — slower.”
“I didn’t… I can’t… oh my God,” Bentley recognized the voice, and his suspicions were confirmed when he noticed the caller ID on Asten’s screen said Nico. He sounded halfway to hysterical, crying and very nearly hyperventilating.
“Can’t what?” Asten inquired, closing the laptop with a click.
“Breathe,”
He sighed lightly, brushing a hand through his messy blue hair. “Dude, we’ve talked about this. If you can speak, you can breathe.”
Bentley laid his head back down on his pillow to listen.
“I can’t… Asten, you won’t…”
“What is it?”
Bentley heard Nico suck in a shaky breath, and it came back out as a couple quiet, pitiful sobs. “I had a dream about her, Asten. About her.”
Bentley’s eyes flicked up to Asten’s at the same time Asten’s flicked down to his.
Oh crap.
Asten sucked in a breath. “The Secret Keeper?”
“Yes! And-and my parents left at just five thirty for a business trip and they aren’t going to be back until Sunday night and I usually don’t go anywhere because I can just call them but I think this deal that they’re closing is really important and I don’t want to bother them and make them not close it but I’m-“
“Rambling,” Asten interjected.
“Can I come to your house? I’ll… I’ll hail a cab or something, I-“ Nico’s voice sounded different, filtering through both tears and the phone. He almost sounded younger.
“Not a cab driver in the world is going to take you to Crime Alley alone, dude.”
“I don’t… I’ll deal with that, okay? Just… just please, please, I’m so freaking scared,”
The little rattle-rattle-hiss-hiss of his inhaler sounded from the other end of the line, and Bentley frowned.
So the Secret Keeper hit both Nico and Asten in the same night. Bentley figured it made sense if she could read minds, since Nico was probably in Asten’s a lot. Maybe that’s how she got Dick and Bentley within hours of each other?
“You can bribe them with however much money you want, but it won’t do you any good,” Asten explained, sitting up and gently placing the laptop on Bentley’s bedside table. “I’m not home.”
Nico’s funny breathing exercise they had been listening to him perform promptly stopped. “You’re not… what? Where are you, then?”
“Bentley’s,”
“Bentley’s?! When did you decide to go over there?!” Nico squeaked.
“When the Secret Keeper decided that I needed to die. I had a dream about her, too — so did Bentley. I tried to call you, but you didn’t answer, so I walked to your house instead. Halfway there, actually, before she started chasing me. I panicked and called Bentley.”
Nico’s voice nearly doubled in pitch. “You mean you saw her? With your eyes?!”
“Yes, with my eyes,” Asten shot back. “Thanks for answering the phone when I could’ve literally been dying, by the way.”
“You can’t be mad at me, I’m already crying,” Nico replied with a huff. Another rattle-rattle-hiss-hiss emanated from the phone. “We’re going to die. We’re so going to die.”
Bentley grabbed his phone off of his opposite nightstand and sent a text to Bruce:
Nico had a nightmare about the secret keeper too.
Bruce’s typing bubbles only popped up for a split second before a response came.
Oh no. Does he need anything? We’re only a few minutes away from his house.
Bentley glanced over at Asten, who was attempting to talk Nico into a better breathing pattern over the phone.
He’s home alone all weekend and he’s really scared, is what Bentley texted back.
Bruce’s typing bubbles came, disappeared, then came again, and a text rolled in a few seconds later.
Does he want us to pick him up? You and Asten can ride.
Bentley held the phone over to Asten, who scanned the screen quickly.
“Please come over,” He heard Nico mutter from one end of the phone.
“Jokes on you, dude, you’re coming over,” Asten replied, sending Bentley a little nod. He texted Bruce back: yes.
“Huh?”
“We’re coming to get you, nosebleed. Go put your shoes on,”
Bentley furrowed his brows. “Nosebleed?”
“Means rich kid,” Asten muttered to Bentley. “You’re a nosebleed, too.”
“What do you mean we’re coming to get you? Who’s we?”
“Bruce is driving us over there, dude,” Asten stated, tossing the covers off of his legs and climbing out of the bed. Bentley followed suit.
“What?! No! I didn’t mean to… I didn’t want… I don’t want to bother him! I… I…”
“Calm down, Bruce is cool. He literally picked me up from the middle of downtown past two a.m. last night,” Asten explained as he pulled on his black tennis shoes that he’d abandoned next to Bentley’s bedroom door. Bentley did the same with the red tennis shoes he’d put back into the drawer of his wardrobe. “Plus, didn’t you literally tell me the other day that he offered you a ride whenever you needed one?”
“Well, yeah, but… but he was talking about school, and I don’t want to- oh my God, what was that?”
“Nico?” Asten inquired as he and Bentley made their way out of his bedroom and down the stairs. Bentley could already see Bruce putting his jacket on at the front door. (He really didn’t waste any time when it came to this sort of thing, did he?)
“I just heard something,” Nico muttered back.
“You have three dogs in the house, dude. We’re leaving now. I think it’s only a few minutes to your place,” Asten explained quietly as they padded up to Bruce, who muttered a quick: “Good morning, boys.” With a small smile and some kind of sentimental, nostalgic look in his gray irises.
“Good morning,” Bentley replied.
“Don’t you dare hang up on me!” Nico practically demanded, and his voice was getting thick, like he was crying hard again. “Please!”
“I’m not,” Asten reassured, switching the phone from one hand to the other.
There was another rattle-rattle-hiss-hiss and some muted mumbling about how he was going to need a new inhaler before the end of the year (which was apparently a bad thing.) as they walked out into the cold toward the garage. It was now cloudy and overcast, casting a gray hue on everything. They jogged from the house to the garage in the biting wind.
The garage was big, and the whole left wall was full of tools and car gadgets that Bentley was pretty sure no one ever touched but Jason. Bentley had only really seen him work on a few of the motorcycles they used for patrol, and the Batmobile once, all in the cave, so he wondered if anybody actually ever used the stuff out there.
They made their way to Bruce’s car, the last one on the left, and climbed in as quickly as they could. Bentley’s mind was spinning and spinning. The Secret Keeper was targeting his friends and family, for what? Fun?
He climbed in the righthand backseat and watched as Asten and Bruce popped their doors open. Bruce got in quickly, and Asten right afterward, though Bentley didn’t miss the little metallic clink or the way Asten oh-so-subtly swiped something from the workbench next to the vehicle.
At first he thought he might’ve been stealing, which was strange. But he climbed into the car with no hesitation, holding a shiny tire iron just out of Bruce’s sight, and shoved it beneath their seats with only a pointed glare sent Bentley’s way.
Oh. Right. Just in case.
They pulled out of the garage and set off, and Bruce turned the heat on. “It’s only eight minutes to your house, Nico,” He called from the front seat. All he got in response was a forced little: “Okay.” From Asten’s phone.
Bentley watched the outdoors pass in the window, occasionally listening to whatever rambling Nico kept doing.
Why was the Secret Keeper targeting them?
He watched the minutes until arrival tick down from eight to two, only startling when there was a bang and a gasp from Nico’s end of the call.
“What was-“
“Oh my God there’s someone in the house!” Nico half-whispered into the phone. It sounded like his voice was stifled by his hand and his hysterical crying. “There’s-there’s… there’s someone in the house, the-the door…”
“We’re only a couple minutes away,” Bruce said, speeding up quite a bit. Bentley recognized the streets they were on from driving Nico home from school, and the minutes changed from two to one. They were literally almost there, yet every passing second made his heart beat faster.
What if they weren’t on time?
“I can hear them, I-I can hear them walking, I-“
“Then shut up and hide, dude,” Asten muttered, glancing over at Bentley with wide eyes, a hollowness in them similar to when he’d been chased. Something akin to hopelessness, maybe.
Nothing but the sound of Nico’s muffled crying came through the phone for a solid thirty seconds.
Then a bang. A wham. A scream. And the three telltale beeps of the call ending.
“Nico?” Asten questioned, quickly dialing his number again. It rang, it rang, it rang, and it went to voicemail.
Bentley’s heart sank to his toes.
“He isn’t answering!” Asten basically shouted. His calm and collected demeanor completely vanished, and Bentley wondered how he could keep his cool so good when trying to keep Nico calm.
Bruce pulled into the Rockefeller’s driveway not ten seconds later. It had began to mist slightly, and it was getting a little foggy. Everything looked normal. Normal except…
The front door was open.
“Stay in the car,” Bruce ordered, climbing out of the front seat. Bentley noticed that it sounded a little more like his Batman voice than his Bruce voice, and fully intended on obeying Batman’s orders.
Asten did not.
He popped his door open despite Bruce’s words and was already halfway out before the Batman stopped him in his tracks, taking up a position between the boy and the house. Asten’s attempts to go around him were fooled by Bruce extending an arm.
“Mr. Wayne-”
“Get back in the car, bud. It’s too dangerous,” Bruce ordered. Asten tried again to curve around the other way, but a large hand stopped him, again.
“But-“
“I’ll make sure he’s safe, but I need to make sure you’re safe, too,” Bruce gestured quickly back to Asten’s seat. “Go on. I’ll be right back.”
With a huff, Asten slid back into the car and closed the door. All four doors clicked when Bruce engaged the locks, and both Bentley and Asten watched him head through the fog and into the house without reproach.
Once he was out of sight, Asten huffed deeply, sinking back into his seat and rubbing a hand over his face. He looked tired.
“Why is this happening to us?” He murmured, crossing his arms over his chest.
Bentley would offer words of reassurance, but if he were completely honest, he was thinking the same thing.
Were they just another statistic, another tally on the Secret Keeper’s record, or was this something darker, something more sinister than even they could comprehend? Was she really just a serial killer and kidnapper, or was something else going on that they didn’t know about?
Bentley shrunk back into his seat, too. “I don’t know.”
Minutes passed. Two. Five. Seven. When they got to nine, the front door swung open.
And Bentley’s heart catapulted from his toes all the way into his throat.
“Oh my God,” Asten said lowly, and Bentley gasped, his left hand fumbling for something to grab — he ended up squeezing the hem of Asten’s jacket.
The Secret Keeper was grinning at them with her stitched smile from the front door, amber eyes nearly glowing into the dim fog. Her white hair was stringy and looked kind of wet, stained at the bottom with something brown Bentley didn’t want to think too hard about. She was staring at them. Hard and cold and unabashedly, deep down into their souls, into their minds, smiling.
Bentley found the back of his eyes burning, and he made a pitiful sound when Asten’s jacket was wrenched out of his grip by the Brazilian reaching for the tire iron he’d stowed away.
She was just staring at them. Just staring. Still staring when Asten sat back up with the tire iron in hand and turned toward the window, and Bentley grabbed onto the back of his jacket. Staring and smiling. The car was so quiet he could only hear his and Asten’s equally ragged, panicked breaths.
“It’s a trap.” Asten whispered, breathless despite not taking a step. “For us.”
Bentley whimpered: “Are you sure?”
“It sure as hell seems like one,” Asten replied softly. The Secret Keeper hadn’t moved an inch. Why wasn’t she doing anything?
“What if Bruce is-“
“He’s not,” Asten silenced Bentley’s dark thought pattern immediately. “Don’t panic, Whittaker.”
“Not panicking,” Bentley murmured back, even though his knuckles were starting to turn white from how hard he was clutching Asten’s jacket.
“Call Bruce,”
Bentley wasted no time using the hand that wasn’t holding onto the older boy’s jacket for dear life to fish his phone out. As soon as his finger hovered over the call button, however, a sharp, stabbing pain ripped from one side of his skull to the other, and he dropped the device with a shrill, stifled shout, folding in on himself in the seat. An ear-splitting ring drowned out nearly all other noise, and he didn’t hear Asten speak, only felt his friend’s hands land on either side of his head in an attempt to understand what was going on.
Black and purple splotches danced in his vision. He could feel himself breathing, and he could feel Asten’s hands near his temples, but he couldn’t hear anything over the ring that threatened to bust his eardrums. His attempts to move were quickly halted by an onslaught of disorienting vertigo, making what he could see of the vehicle around him warp and spin.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell your secrets, Babybird,”
He grappled for something, anything, tugging at what he thought might’ve been Asten’s pant leg as he coiled up into a little ball on the seat next to him. He tried to force words out but he couldn’t hear them. He couldn’t hear anything. Please don’t let her kill me.
Everything went black.

Just a little thing that the DPxDC community doesn't explore much is the Cass x Danny. By the way they are portrayed, she is quiet and reserved introvert girl, that keeps to herself, and he is an explosive extrovert when you get to know him.
Since I'm a sucker for dynamics that are not used as much as the others, I think this is something fun to explore (maybe I'm just dumb and I'm missing a ton of content).
I can imagine it going like this: he is a regional manager for Nasty Burger as a harmless way to satiate Vlad's obsession with him (Nasty Burger belongs to Vlad in canon, and sometimes, Danny deserves to not have a fucked up life anymore), he meets with Cass and the two hook up (both can't explain, but can use the Lazarus pit = ectoplasm head canon).
These are the reactions of the members of the batfamily:
Barbara: she is protective of both Steph and Cass, and does a background check on Danny, but doesn't find any dirty on him (thanks Tucker), after that, she relax and observes the cute couple from her network;
Bruce and Alfred: both are relieved after Barbara's report, and are happy that Cass is now openly smiling and laughing more, it's not like she was unhappy with them, but seeing her in love is reassuring;
Selina and Tim: both are making fun of Bruce, since Danny has black hair and blue eyes, and is dating a member of the batfamily, they are saying to not make Danny the Steph 2.0;
Damian: he liked Danny because all the animals in the manor loved him at first sight, so he can't be a bad guy, but he starts to respect Danny when he discovered that he helped a gorilla species in the brink of extinction to survive;
Duke: he knows that there is SOMETHING with Danny, but he knows that metas in Gotham have to hide themselves from the wrong assumption that Batman hates metas;
Dick and Jason: they thought of doing a good cop/bad cop routine in order see what are the intentions of this guy with their younger sister, but seeing that he has MORE puns than Dick, MORE dead jokes than Jason, and is MORE SASSIER than Steph, Jason is like "fuck this shit I'm out", and Dick is best buddies with the guy
Steph: she hates his guts, not because his is dating Cass, but because he has the audacity of saying that the Nasty Burger is BETTER than the Batburger, her favorite fast food chain, she can't believe that Cass has fallen in love with the enemy.
Other thing: he can't hide forever his powers, so someday, maybe, they are on a date and a random villain attacks, and not wanting his cute and shy girlfriend to be hurt, Danny beat the shit out of this guy, and Cassandra sees her boyfriend tanking several bullets unharmed, punching people away to ridiculous distances, and maybe FLY a little bit?
Danny is freaked out, because he thinks Batman hates metas, but Cass says that her father knows Batman, and can help clear him.
Now Bruce asks Clark if he is aware of this black hair, blue eyes dude, with some powers really similar to Kryptonians that it is currently dating his daughter (all of the JLD knows that Danny is the Ghost King, but understand why the guy is frightened of Batman, so it is kinda funny when they meet, Constantine can't hold his laughter at the image of a Bruce being the father in law of the powerful monarch of the infinite realms, using ridiculous nobility titles to refer to him)

Late night insomnia nonsensical ramble: The way I feel about Babs and Cass is the way most people feel about Bruce and Dick. Like I'm aware that to dc and 99% of fans Batman and Robin one would be considered the heart of the batfamily (maybe Tim too) but to me it's Babs and Cass. You start there and work your way out. The effect of reading batgirl 2000 before any of the Robin origins I guess.
Like to me Babs is the one tying most of the family together, the center even though its meant to be Bruce and is considered Bruce by most people. He's in the most comics he's the one who came first he's the Batman to the Batfamily. DC clearly do not agree with me on my Babs and Cass are the most important agenda and I'm not going to argue that it's meant to be canon. And yet every little bonding moment between Babs and the others just feels so... Familial? Powerful? It sticks in my mind more. Maybe it's Bruce's oversaturation costing him idk. And Cass is her strongest bond so it just makes sense to me. If people who don't read comics can say the batfam is made up of 4 characters who barely like each other then I can say its made up of the batgirls first everyone else second.
DC: Here is Batman and his Robins and Batgirls and everyone else. This is the Batfamily.
Me, shoving Bruce out of the way: Oh my god its Oracle and the Batgirls! The three pillars of the Batfamily!

So sorry about this sudden ask again, but it's a batman vibe rn tonight
In Batman Beyond, Terry doesn't really have a Robin, he has Max, but she's not a Robin, maybe more of a batgirl/batwoman to be one day or Oracle, but that's for another time. What I'm getting at is Terry's Batman needs a Robin to fulfill the role and identity as Batman, because the duo need each other to properly exist.
While Terry does have his little brother, Matt, eventually become Robin in his comics, I think there was a HUGE missed opportunity for that underground kid to become Terry's first Robin. Darius Arthur Kellman (if that's how his name is spelled), aka, DAK, from the episode "Where's Terry" in season 2. The way the episode portrayed this kid gave off a dynamic to him and Terry that I honestly thought was going to be brought up again later on, but didn't. DAK said he didn't want to listen to people and to eventually become someone like Blight, Spellbinder, or to join the Royal Flush Gang one day. He didn't like Batman at all. But as the episode goes on, he starts to see things differently and we can start to see the changes in this kid. Although the episode ends with him going home and we never see him again, I thought it would have been amazing to see this kid grow into a better person because of Terry and change his idols into other people. Not Batman, because the kid is too stubborn to admit he respects him now, but someone like Robin.
Maybe DAK gets so inspired by Batman (Terry) that he goes out and trains himself to be the next Robin. He already has a great foundation for being a hero, the kid just needs more mentoring by the bat.
What do you think? That was just me rambling, but what do you think about Terry getting Robins of his own/expanding the 2nd generation batfamily?
Oh it has been way too long since I saw Batman Beyond! But I totally agree that Terry should have a Robin because that dynamic is central to what made Batman work (and if we're being meta, Bruce's deteriorating relationships with the batfamily are a large part of why things are messed up in Terry's future)
But I do remember DAK! And I think he'd make a great Robin for Terry since it's all about balance. Terry isn't quite the dark brooding character as Bruce so he needs a Robin that's a bit more serious. I also love Matt as Robin just because I love the brothers being a team. But if Bruce could have a bunch of Robins then so could Terry!
