#it’s not anemia

So! I have this weird thing that I’ve been thinking about lately, cause more and more people have been pointing it out to me, where I don’t feel heat correctly
Like, I can feel hot water, and food fresh out of microwaves and ovens, and sun beams if I stand directly under them feel hot to me, I can feel those
But if it’s a hot day, I don’t actually feel it, I’ll get sweaty and I’ll get nauseous after a bit, but I won’t feel the heat, I don’t feel cold, it just feels like an absence of warmth, so I can wear a huge bulky sweater and then take it off, and taking it off will get me less sweaty, but temperature wise it feels the same
However, I feel cold easily, very very easily, I have zero problem with feeling it, and I’ll feel cold even when you think no one should be cold
Anyways, since I like to project and Danny has an ice core, I think that’s how it should be for him, gets cold easily and hot days feel more like an absence of heat for him

MC: *tries to open dorm door but it's stuck* what the? Grimm, did you break the door again?
Grimm: The great Grimm did nothing of the sort!
MC: *sighs and goes outside the back door.*
*Outside the front door is a stack of iron bricks. Malleus is also there, placing down more with magic with Lillia grinning behind him.*
MC: Malleus... my dear, dear fae... why does my front porch look like a construction site?
Lillia: *chuckles* Why, child of man, our... *tries not to giggle* our dear Malleus has decided to help you with your... problem.
MC: My... problem?
Malleus: Yes. Trappola and Spade made me aware of your iron deficiency. Lillia told me that swords would also be helpful, so I have commissioned two for you, although they will take some time.
MC: Malleus... thank you... for trying to help... but I have anemia... which means I don't have enough iron in my blood. This is very sweet of you though. But... if you don't mind... could I still have the swords?
Crowley: *popping up out of nowhere* My, my. I could provide you with what you need! For I am gracious!
MC: *hides behind Lillia* I'm getting supplements from Crewel, you worse than the American health care system leech!

You know, it's a tragedy that there are no (or very little) Vampire x Christian stories out there, not for angst or theology or forbidden seductiveness or whatnot but for the sheer comedy of it all. I mean, the Christian would technically be immune to all of the vampire's shenanigans, like for example...
Vampire: Fool, I am the most powerful vampire in the West. Nothing but the force of an entire holy temple could even deign to scratch me Christian: Idiot, I AM a holy temple. 1 Corinthians 6:19, fear me and the Spirit inside that can burn you to ashes

It feels illegal that not all anaemic people are being told this but seriously guys vitamin C will increase your ability to absorb iron and also make it easier on your guts
Take your iron pills with orange juice or whatever vitamin C you can get your hands on it is banger for the nonheme irons that are the majority of what you’ll get from food
Also if you have cranky guts and are eating iron rich foods, apply this hack for less cranky guts

Hi! Just wanted to tell you that I read one of your posts about pernicious anemia, and thought “well that sounds exactly like what my weird body issues ™️ have been like”, got my doctor to run tests, and it turns out my b12 was basically non-existent. Got medication fairly recently and am finally starting to feel better, and I just wanted to thank you so very much, I don’t think I would’ve thought about that possibly being the problem without you. Everyone just wrote it off as stress.
I'm so glad you're starting to feel better!
Unfortunately, pernicious anemia/low b12 is overlooked these days by a lot of doctors (it's less of a concern with our fortified diets and can often be masked by the high levels of folic acid that get added into cereal and flour) and is often mistaken for mood disorders or just "stress."
As a point of interest, after I was diagnosed, the hematologist who saved my life said that he thought it should be mandatory to test ALL patients with mental health issues for low b12 because just being even slightly low can severely affect mood stability.
So, y'know, it's been a while since I've posted about b12 deficiency, so for anyone new here, please include b12 checks in your annual blood workup. You never know what it might be affecting!

Jonathan Harker praises the bottle of Tokaji wine he was served at Dracula's Castle on his first night there.
Tokaji is one of the oldest dessert wines. Sweet, intense in flavor, and prestigious. Produced in Tokay, Hungary since the 16th century. Most often paired with spicy and hot dishes.
Apparently Jonathan enjoys sweet, intense wines.
Erik in The Phantom Of The Opera novel offers Tokaji to Christine Daaé during her first visit in his lair.
Mephistopheles in Goethe's Faust serves it to the young lovestruck Siébel. (Siébel: 'No wine for me can ever be too sweet.' Mephistopheles: 'My best Tokaji shall presently appear.')
In the 19th century it was used as a remedy for plague and anemia
(all this occurred to me thanks to @wheresjonno while thinking about what Jonathan would enjoy in a euro food tour)

I am going to be so fr I hate that certain sects of tumblr act as if like. Basic dietary facts are ableist. Like I understand sensory issues and samefoods bc I also have them but at the same time its an objective fact that like. You need your vitamins and nutrients. You need a vegetable or at least a multivitamin or something now and then and it isn't a personal attack for someone to tell you this. Like gout and scurvy and anemia are all very real
