Tarot Reading: What Makes You Shine? ☀️

Hello, all. I felt inspired to do this reading today. Let's take a look at what makes you shine. What are the best qualities you have that people love, that people admire or are inspired by or want to emulate?

I am going to do this one a little differently. The first section of each pile will take a look at what this special energy is and then the second section will tell you how you can embrace it or maximize it.

Pile 1, the Divine has your back! That's the first thing popping out here to me. What makes you shine is that you kind of seem to be one of God's favorites (God doesn't have favorites, of course. But, if He did...). But, this can also be a bit misleading to some. You definitely have high high's but you are more than familiar with low low's. I don't think the majority of people know about your low moments, though. They don't see the times of depression, stress, burnout, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed that you either have dealt with or still do. They just look at you and think, maybe a bit dismissively, "They just have it all!"

Well, the reason for your good fortune is that you are very, very spiritually connected. You definitely have intuitive/psychic gifts, whether you embrace them or not. I am getting mediumship for some of you. You also just have a direct line to Spirit. It's like you have Spirit's number and can text them whenever you want. And you're never left on read. The thing that makes you seem so blessed is that you exude such divine and high-vibrational energy. This deep connection to Spirit does get you through the hardest of times. I feel called to tell you that you are ALWAYS blessed, even when things are difficult in life. You may not realize it but you have an incredible way of moving through really tough circumstances and remaining firmly intact. Things that would break other people are easily bounced back from by you. Kind of like, "Well, that was crazy. So, anyway..." This is part of what makes people believe that you are so fortunate.

It's not that you're hard as stone or something. More so, you are just so in tune with the guidance of Spirit, your Guides and your Higher Self that you are able to clear a path for yourself through difficulties. Your Guides love you very, very much. Everyone's Guides love them. That's the point lol. But, yours are very especially loving and protective. They are helping you ALL the time, talking to you all the time, and you may not even realize it. As protective as they are, they are also kind of "hands off" or quick to give you space because they want you to trust and know your own power. It's kind of like when parents do little subtle things to help their children while letting the child think they're doing it all by themselves because that builds characters. For many of you, these Guides were parental figures in this life or a past life. Or a mentor of sorts.

You also emanate very powerful "mentor" energy. You shine because of how incredibly generous you are with your energy, your wisdom, your spiritual insights. I am sure people come to you for help all the time and the message here is to set boundaries with that. Don't feel so pressured to help others that you don't take the time to help yourself. What makes you special is what a guiding figure you are to others and what a blessing you are. You're like a "good luck charm" in human form. You may have personal placements in the Fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius (Taurus is especially emphasized here)

Pile 1, I am getting the message that a lot of you are being called to be spiritual practitioners. As in, being a professional astrologer, Tarot reader, energy healer, etc. Whatever your heart is calling you to do! If you have been wanting to head in this direction but have been uncertain, this may be the sign you need! Even if it's not something you do forever, there does seem to be an element of fate, in regards to you doing spiritual work. It will truly allow you to bless and help others, to be the guide that you're meant to be. It will also be a way of opening up or developing your psychic abilities. There is a major urge from your Guides to do so and you might unconsciously use them through divination in ways that you don't fully understand. Becoming conscious of that is your journey.

You didn't reach your spiritual wisdom overnight. It took long, hard work, probably years and years. I think this is also telling you that your spiritual journey will NOT be easy but it will absolutely pay off. You are being guided to remember that being spiritual is not all sunshine and rainbows. It takes application, grit, discipline, and a willingness to take accountability. I also think it will be very hard for you to balance your spiritual and practical life. For many of you, you will endure many struggles in an attempt to adjust to the so-called "real world" and this will just bring you closer and closer to your truth.

But, you are here to battle it out with the limiting beliefs that this world has imposed on you. This can get very intense and manifest through material/financial struggles and even conflicts with others. But, this is how your light comes in. You will serve as a beautiful example of how to beat that nasty inner voice as well as the equally nasty voices of the world and obtain remarkable success and prosperity. You will be incredibly inspiring to others and someone that people can really look up to. You have to walk the walk in addition to talking the talk. But, you possess the integrity to do so.

Pile 2, I get a very kind, very calm energy from you. You guys are exceptionally grounded and a real calm in the midst of any storm. What makes you shine is this soothing, nurturing quality you possess. You most likely have a strong Earth emphasis (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) in your chart but there's also a significant Water influence here (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). So, you know how to be sensitive and empathic while also keeping a level head and staying sensible. There's also an emphasis on boundaries here. You aren't at your best when people pleasing but when knowing how to take care of yourself and then care for others. You have either learned that or will learn it.

This energy just feels like a lush, beautiful garden. You seem to have a more feminine energy to you. And you're like a beautiful flower. Flowers are very important to many of you. Your first or middle name may be a flower (Rose, Lily, etc) or you may just have an obsession with flowers or gardening. Floral-print clothing, too, is what I am getting. Which also makes me think of The Devil Wears Prada. "Florals? For spring? How groundbreaking." That movie may have significance to you. I can see you being similar to Anne Hathaway's character, Andy. She initially hates fashion, which is seen as something more feminine, but eventually blossoms and discovers how stylish and elegant she is capable of being.

Beyond fashion, I think it may have taken you some time in life to grow into your femininity. Maybe the older you get, the more you like traditionally feminine pursuits or ways of being. I think you were probably more masculine when you were younger yet still with a sensitive side. But, now, like a flower, you are blooming into your truer self. You definitely could be a late bloomer, even in terms of career or finances. Like Andy, you could be uncertain or awkward while climbing the professional ladder but you will make it to the top. With status and abundance.

I also have to say that you have a very strong impact on masculine energies in your life. You might attract a lot of "big teddy bear" types or gentle giants who just want to take care of you and support you. Or you could have a refining effect on certain masculines who express their yang energy in more primitive or toxic ways. Especially in love. Your elegance shines through and you are such a catch that these love interests realize they have to straighten up and fly right when dealing with you. In the process, they get more in touch with their heart space.

Interesting! Pile 2, we're going to do a little detour here. Your Guides really want to bring a potential romantic relationship to your attention. And I think it is someone who fits the profile of what I was just saying. They always had the potential to be the King of Cups (whether male or female because, remember, these cards are energies, not specific genders). But, they weren't able to really achieve this growth until they fell for you. However, you weren't out here trying to play Build A Boo and "fix" them. (And if you were, you definitely learned your lesson about that) They are doing this out of their own free will.

They see you as most people do: a very special, very magical person. You give me fairy or elf vibes, tbh, and a lot of people see you that way. I think all you have to do to embrace your light is just exist. Just be your ethereal self. You are this beautiful mix of earthy and otherworldly, which is part of why you are able to bless others with your energy. That lovely fairy dust of yours stays stuck on people, even if you leave their life, and acts as a sort of magic spell to get them to see their full potential and the ways they can actualize it.

All you have to do is focus on you and your abundance, your success. People will feel very inspired to follow your lead, especially if they are at some crossroads in life. As for this potential romantic interest, I think they feel deep regret for whatever may have happened here and are putting in a lot of effort and work into becoming the partner you need them to be. Whether or not you're open to them is up to you but the opportunity is there. And when they come in, it will be with a very different energy than before.

Pile 3, what makes you shine is how incredibly drawn to you people are. This pile is most certainly giving me "baddie" energy, regardless of your gender. You are not only gorgeous and sensual but so many people see you as out of their league. In fact, the frustrating thing is that your attractiveness is so intimidating to some love interests that they just end up doing... nothing. If you don't think anyone has a crush on you, think again. There are plenty of people who do. They're just too scared to say anything.

But, there really is no reason for them to be. I am getting such Cher Horowitz vibes from you (the main character from Clueless, obviously). She was so pretty and well-dressed and popular but also a real sweetheart. Someone as hot as you could be totally stuck-up or let it all go to their head. But, one of the most appealing things about you is that you have a heart of gold. Your kindness and loving spirit only makes you even more attractive. Yet, you also get incredibly frustrated because so many people can't see past the surface to who you really are. You hate being viewed superficially and often find the gap between your self-perception and others' perception of you very jarring or bewildering.

The message from your Guides, though, is that you could stand to shift that self-perception some. You often times don't see either your beauty or your social currency because you're not focused on those things. You have deeper values. Pile 3, you are being called to really pay attention to how people treat you. The thing I am getting is that you may deal with envy and unfairness from others that you are completely blind to. Because you may lack a clear sense of your social currency, you may not realize that certain people around you are jealous or competitive. And even if you do, you might just think, "Jealous of what?" In addition to that, being treated in this way can be quite wounding or exhausting. Maybe you just endured a friend break-up or you're still reeling from one where your so-called friend was secretly envious of you or toxic due to perceiving you as "better" than them.

It is important to not be blind to these social dynamics because you can easily attract them. It's also important to let the secret fans hate and continue being your beautiful, radiant self. I think the task for you right now is to focus on healing, especially if you had to deal with an undercover hater recently or in the past. Spend some quality time with yourself and be the best friend that you could have. Also, ask yourself what kind of qualities you want in a friendship. And don't settle for less than that! Things may have been a bit grey or dissatisfying lately. But, many of you are on the cusp of manifesting the kind of friendship you really need. You just have to heal your wounds surrounding "outshining" someone else. A true friend will want you to be your fullest self and won't be threatened.

I think that's how you are toward others and you deserve the same level of kindness, sincerity and generosity you give out. And you should hold off on letting people in until you find that. Also, don't dwell on regrets, if you had a toxic friendship that made you shrink yourself a bit. Just see it as a lesson learned and not to be repeated! There's not a lot coming through about romance, though. Just relationships, in general. But, in love, I think you need to watch out for those who are so overly enamored with you that they put you on a pedestal and can't see you fully/accurately. You need a partner, honey, not a fan. I think there is, though, a relationship coming in with someone who is more equipped to see and establish themselves as your equal. And it could leave someone else who was too intimidated to come forward with a lot of regret.

What Makes You Shine?

The Devil

Pile 4, you have definitely had your fair share of dark days. What makes you shine is the way your spirit has endured as well as evolved throughout these trials and tribulations. You might have suffered from addiction in the past or had to survive a very toxic family/upbringing. An abusive relationship or two may even be part of your story. But, in spite of everything, you persisted. You were able to come out on the other side of it, healed, with a clearer awareness of yourself and of life.

I feel as if you aren't the type to blame the world for your problems and this is where part of your greatness stems from. You know how to take accountability. So, whatever you have "recovered" from, you owned your part in it, which gave you the ability to better yourself. In fact, I am getting the sense that you may be TOO hard on yourself at times and this is also something people can clearly see. You might be very self-deprecating or self-critical. But, while you're busy beating yourself up, you fail to see just how much you mean to others. Unfortunately, I think you were judged so harshly by people in your early years that it's really stuck with you. But, you either have learned or are learning that the story doesn't have to end there.

You might have planets in the sign of Capricorn or in the Water element (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). Scorpio is especially highlighted. I am getting two pictures here. Some of you have a very tough exterior (or like to think you do) but are really so sweet and soft and sensitive on the inside. And some of you may be very troubled and quite wild but you have a pure heart. It's kind of giving me Drew Barrymore vibes, in how she dealt with all these issues early in life but remained very kind and loving through it all. If there are any really lighthearted rom-coms or comedies that you enjoy, you're being called to watch them. You're either being asked by your Guides to lighten up and laugh more because you've been taking life way too seriously or to have a good cry over a movie like Jerry Maguire or something (although this isn't me recommending that one because I will remind you that you need no one to complete you lol!) But, either way, you currently have a lot of inner tension that needs releasing.

The thing you need to know is that your story is going to, one day, be the thing that gets other people through. People who had a hard time hanging on or believing in themselves, as you did. You are going to have to experience a huge personal awakening and transformation that will then serve as an example for others who need freedom from their own demons. You have so much good to contribute to the world. Please don't focus on your flaws, your weaknesses, your past mistakes. All of that has just been a necessary part of journey. But, it doesn't have to define you.

Pile 4, it is crucial that you figure out who you really want to be and manifest that version of yourself. You struggle to think highly of yourself and this stands in your way far more than you think. I get the feeling that a lot of Earth Suns chose this pile (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) but you don't have to have that particular energy. You are just being asked to firmly ground yourself and in ways that extend beyond work. You might actually overcompensate with work and use as it a buffer for your real feelings or problems. Instead, you must embrace a level, centered, mature version of you with plenty of self-respect in addition to the respect of those around you.

Some of you may have especially troubled relationships with your father figure that prevents you from feeling stable and secure. There could be a profound fear of becoming your father or a belief that you already are your father. But, you are an individual! It's very likely that you were either put down by this parent or compared a lot to them in an uncomfortable way. This isn't the story you have to tell yourself! You can flip the script and be whoever you want to be. But, it takes maturity, self-confidence and self-awareness to do this. Give yourself the time needed to build up that healthy self-image. It is a slow, gradual but worthwhile process.

Your Guides want to communicate with you very badly and I feel like you're not very in touch with them. Your spiritual life, in general, may need bolstering. You could spend so much time trying to escape from reality and live in a fantasy world that you find it hard to really sit with the truth of your soul. Something I feel called to say is that a hyperactive imagination or maladaptive daydreaming is often a sign of someone who is clairvoyant. But, until you're able to accept this gift, you can sublimate it into those habits/ways of being. I also think your Guides are always sending you signs and synchs but you may be dismissing them as "coincidences" or overanalyzing them. They want you to know that you are never alone and that they are patiently, lovingly waiting until you are ready to be open to them.

If you won some sort of lottery contest and DC allowed you to write a comic run for any character, any topic, no limits, what would your comic be like?

What kinda plot and characters would you want to etch into official DC canon? (Or would you prefer to write an elseworlds kinda thing?)

Sorry it took a while to answer this, I got pretty carried away! Jason is my favorite character and the character I know most about, so of course I'd write about him. This is going to be pretty long winded and fanfic-y, hope you don’t mind!

First things first I’m making both UTRH and Lost Days mostly canon again. Jason was a crime lord who did Mean Crime Lord Things for a while and that’s what I’ve decided everyone is referring to when they gesture vaguely to his villainous past.

I’m also bringing back the original “big boob” backstory where Jason makes Bruce laugh on the anniversary of his parents’ death. Catherine was an opioid addict due to illness, Willis was the person who taught Jason about cars (and thus how to jack tires) and Faye Gunn is no longer Jason’s grandma. (I really disliked Ma Gunn’s “redemption” in RHATO.) Just in case, I’m also reiterating Sheila’s role in Jason’s death.

Here’s a few lines I came up with for the Todds:

Jason keeps the letters Willis sent him from prison - the ones Ma Gunn hid- in the same picture frame that holds his Robin graduation photo with Bruce. He loved and resented Willis in equal parts, but mostly he regrets not having gotten more time. It’s all the same with fathers.

Catherine is curled up in bed, her expression is half a grimace. She asks Jason, who is reading a picture-book by her side, to get her ‘medicine’ for her. Jason doesn’t know how else to help her feel better so… that’s exactly what he does. In a moment, he returns with a small heart shaped box and a cup of microwaved soup.

If I can imply in some way that Catherine is in denial about the possibility of her dying I’d like to do that too.

I’m also doing a total overhaul of the All-Caste.

Essence is getting proper Tibetan braids, Ducra is going to wear a khampa chuba instead of her current old coat, and the Acres-of-All are getting reimagined as a towering Ziggurat with all the murals, pillars, curtains, and ornate trim befitting a monastery! The All-caste of memory will be bright and fantastical, but the ruins of the present will be dark and spooky.

Some references for what I'm talking about.

I’m also reframing the “Absolute Evil” part of the All-blades’ description to be an epithet for the Untitled. The sword is not literally judging Goodness and Evilness anymore; now they cut through negative psychic energy Jujutsu Kaisen style. I don’t think I need to spell out a justification for Jason being able to summon them whenever, but for any sticklers I’ll just say it’s because Jason- like the Untitled- has a lot of bad feelings and trace amounts of Dionesium in his system (among assorted other chemicals.)

Since Lost Days is being brought back that means instead of spending an entire 3 years with the All-Caste, Jason only spent a few weeks with them during his world-wide training arc. Ostensibly because a little magic would give him an edge over Batman. Ducra wouldn’t normally just give away powerful magic weapons to any chump with a free weekend, and she knew Jason was dangerous, but since the All-Blades are so specific and the ritual to attain them nigh-unsurvivable she saw an opportunity to use Jason. Sure she's one of the Good Guys, but she's not called a conniving old witch for nothing hoohoo!

Now a few plot ideas for a vague overall mini-arc.

First, Jason goes to ugly lengths to protect or prevent consequences from finding one of his family. Maybe someone threatens their secret identity…? The ‘opponent’ should be someone innocent and/or noble but not easily bought or fought. Maybe Vicki Vale, another Hero, or some kind of wealthy heir. The point is to cast doubt on if Jason’s return to the Bats is really so unquestionably redeeming. Jason has pretty much chosen to betray his morals for them after all.

Then, Jason chooses not to kill a villain who shortly afterwards victimizes more people and skips town before he can get caught. Basically a rehash of Diplomat’s Son except the Garzonas figure gets away. It’s technically a win for Batman- his presence kept Gotham safe after all. But it doesn’t feel like a win, especially not to Jason.

And finally, Jason frames himself for various murders committed by victims against their abusers. Maybe kick the story off with one of Ma Gunn’s boys killing her and telling the cops it was Red Hood in a desperate bid to avoid jail.

Obviously Jason can’t be allowed to do this long-term. It’s a bad precedent to set, an obstruction of justice, etc… Jason hasn’t broken The Big Rule though, and Bruce can only act so sanctimonious when those same complaints could be are made about him as well. There’s no way this ends any other way than Batman running Red Hood out of Gotham again and they both know it, but neither deviates from the path set before them.

One or two “monster of the week” issues where Jason fights various assassins and bounty hunters sent by his more influential enemies might be good- one should occur right after the above story. A consequence for his “return to form” so to speak. Batfamily fans may appreciate a scene where Bruce says something indicating that he ran Jason out for his own safety as well as Gotham’s. Batman may be able to hide in Bruce Wayne’s skin during the day but Jason’s only identity is that of Red Hood, and at times that makes him vulnerable in a way other heroes aren’t. This + some panels contrasting the generic mercenary look of Jason’s guns and equipment with the Bats’ spandex future-tech will be great for showing how separate Jason is from the Bats.

Now while Jason’s out of Gotham again there’s this detail in one of RHATO’s flashbacks that I want to expand on- that being how he used to be able to summon a lot more All-blades.

“I had a lot of soul back then” - implying that he has a lot less soul now…!?

Jason’s been through a lot, in life sure but also more recently. Fight scenes where the All-blades take the form of daggers would not only be cool and evocative of the wavy dagger Talia gifted him way back when, they’d be good visual sign of his declining emotional state.

Later on as his soul ‘shrinks’ further, I’d give him a pair of mystical guns through which he can channel his All-blades into bullets. If it’s another gift from Talia I’m thinking dark brass revolvers with paisley filigree and a red Endless Knot charm hanging from each handle. If they’re from Essence or S’aru I’m thinking black lacquer and silver cloud-patterned ornamentation, with red coral embedded on either side of the gun. Beautiful Bayonetta-style guns with glowing red veins and a cowboy flair!

As for what he’s using the All-blades (All-bullets?) for, I think it’d be fun to have Jason exorcising some ghosts. He can solve various murder mysteries, figure out why this place or that person is haunted, and get into fights with horrific otherworldly creatures. Jason is an interesting character to do this premise with because he might just determine that some some spirits should get their revenge, and act on behalf of a ghost rather than erasing it.

I’m not sure whether I’d want to have Essence join him or not… On one hand it only makes sense that Jason would help Isabel and Essence find a way to free themselves from the Blood Blade, and that goal would provide his character with some direction. Then again, Essence/Isabel could be cool as antagonists. Jason might see some ghosts as valid but Essence probably wouldn’t see any merit in appeasing manifestations of lingering resentment. She’s similar to him in that she also turned her back on her family, but she’s different in that she did it because she believed so wholeheartedly in their cause. She’s old and sort of a Jedi, but she’s hot-blooded and she’ll never not be Ducra’s daughter in the same way it seems Jason can never escape Batman’s shadow. I bet she has some real juicy sunk-cost fallacy type thinking too, that’d be fun to dig into.

Anyways I think this is a pretty good set-up to explore the politics/morality of forgiveness. What makes the difference between an injustice and a hatchet that ought to be buried? When is forgiveness empowering and when is it coerced? Who is it that must forgive? Justice vs Revenge, that whole kind of thing.

Other than the supernatural stuff I want Jason working with Talia, and I’m reintroducing Sasha to the post-52 continuity. Duela is getting nixed.

I don’t really have any specific plot ideas for Talia, but I would like to establish Jason as one of her associates. With Lost Days back they have basis for an actual relationship again. They’re not always on the same side but Jason can sometimes do tasks for Talia (outside the purview of Ra’s and the LOA), and Talia can occasionally support Jason with various social power-play type moves.

An instance of Jason getting into a fight with one of the Bats because he’s doing a favor for Talia would be great! I wouldn't write Talia as an evil evil bad horrible dragon lady, so it shouldn’t be a huge blow to Jason’s status as a Good Guy. Also I like the idea of Jason and Talia’s relationship mostly being inferred through their actions supporting one another, rather than directly showing much ‘on-screen’ interaction between them.

Also it’ll be interesting to go into Bruce, Dick, and Damian’s reaction to finding out that they’re not the only ones Jason is loyal to. Bruce thinking Talia was a bad influence on Jason (like fanon), silently frustrated because what he really wants is for Jason to be a full Bat-Believer (like the good old days…). Dick being fine with Jason never falling fully in-line with Bruce, provided that at the end of the day his loyalty belonged to his family.

-brief topical detour to talk about Sasha-

The new timeline of events is that Jason and Sasha met as fellow patients while Jason was in his Vague Villain era. They escaped the hospital building together (Sasha in her bloody dress, and Jason naked save for his skimpy hospital gown dhoti) and having no one else they stuck together. They got close but at some point Sasha lost her memories, giving her a chance at a fresh start. This was around the same time Jason “redeemed” himself and so just like Max Dawkins, ‘Numbers’, and Gabby Christiensen -Sasha became another person from Jason’s past that he didn’t let himself have a relationship with.

Sasha was just old enough that she didn’t have to be sent into foster care, so with some help from Wayne Foundations she got her GED and her feet underneath her. Now… she goes to work, goes to her physical therapy appointments, fights with her mother over the phone, and yes- sometimes she goes to the club.

The new Sasha still has spiky red hair but her face looks entirely normal save for a subtle scar tracing around her jawline and chin- the edges of where her mask used to sit. She wears dark makeup and even darker clothes. She’s prone to false memories and dissociation. She’s lost most of her ability to feel pain. She can’t watch certain shows she used to love anymore because they trigger her. She never returned to Russia. She doesn’t have many friends.

Since this is comics, her reintroduction will come by way of a dramatic fight. Sasha will regain her memories one day and show up out of the blue to fight Jason, angry and heartbroken that he abandoned her. He tries to explain himself but she just says look what they did to my face, referring to the facial reconstructive surgery she was given while amnesiac. She’ll be difficult to fight, not only because being a partial Dollotron gives her enhanced strength but also because she’s being reckless and the longer they fight the more strain and damage her body accrues.

After Jason apologizes and they reconcile (they will both cry) Sasha can become a recurring side character that Jason visits, keeping him grounded and up to date with Gotham. I think it'd be cute for her to bid him farewell by saying she’ll hold the city hostage until he comes back. (Is Sasha going to become Jason’s love interest? No. If I give Jason a love interest it’s going to be Numbers.)

--Going back to the previous topic, I want Sasha’s return to be part of this greater arc of Jason addressing his "shrinking soul" problem. My brain is a little fried now so I’m not exactly sure how but she is related. I think she ought to be.

Jason wants Bruce to be right. He would like for his problem to be fixed by going home and saying sorry. But at the end of my run I want him to face the reality that it’s not about that.

...Perhaps it should be about Jason 'abandoning' Gotham? I don’t really want the final thesis of my run to imply that Jason’s soul would just be fixed if he killed Rogues though, and Jason always came back whenever a big disaster was happening so it doesn't quite fit anyways… Jason does believe in the value of “pure” heroes it’s just not what he’s supposed to be. Whatever his problem's “about” , it ought to prompt Jason to stop taking Bruce’s shit. I'm saying the man is literally breaking Jason's spirit.

I’m sympathetic to Bruce but I wouldn’t write him as a nice father. I would also have scene where a younger Bat accuses Jason of being overdramatic despite 'not even having it the worst’. I don't know who 'has it the worst' but I want to make a statement that you don't need to win the pain-race to be fed up.

Ah anyways, now my brain is really fried. I hope this post was coherent all the way through, I neglected to edit and organize my thoughts as much towards the end. Thank you for asking me such a great question, I had a lot of fun thinking about it! :D

Role swap AU: An AU where characters swap their roles for a period of time with the subsequent story exploring how plot events alter, diverge, or stay the same because of this swap.

So…

I’ve never been one for role swap au’s tbh. I think there was only one that ever caught my attention, but the characters were so insanely on point that I could envision the show in my head. In all the body swaps that I’ve read, it’s Splinter being like “ya’ll could benefit from being in someone else’s shoes. Here’s what we gonna do”

I prefer a character being forced to manage in another’s brain/body for some time. There’s so much potential in those 🤩

What are April and Casey’s roles?

I suppose Casey is more muscle, but April seems to tilt between brains/muscle as it pleases her. She absolutely wants to be seen as a warrior, but she works with Donnie in his lab during research and making connections and whatnot.

“Added April and Casey” implies that the role swap includes everyone, so just swapping Donnie&Casey feels shortsighted. (I don’t mean that to be offensive in any way. I’m thinking outloud.) We could give Casey’s role to Donnie, but with the wide group of people, I feel like Donnie’s role should go elsewhere. If that makes sense?

Yk what April’s taking Leo’s role, I’ve decided. Not because “haha she’d probably be bad at it” but because I think she’d find a potential to be a leader when given the chance and that would be neat.

Mikey can take April’s place bc it would give him the chance to be more involved in things. “You never question April when she says she has a feeling about stuff! “You always let April help out in the lab!” “You let April check out leads solo!” He wouldn’t care that she’s a human or that she has psychic powers. She got to when it came to helping the team so that’s what he gets to do.

Raph can take Mikey’s role because he deserves to know what it’s like for his main role on the team to be bait. He can’t always fight mutants head on because he has to keep them busy so his brothers can take the baddy down. He can’t protect his brothers because he’s meant to headed in another direction. That would drive him nuts. (I’d think it’d be cute if he demanded to know how Mikey could stand it and Mikey’s all chill like “I just trust that my big bros have it covered like they always do” and then he’s utterly humbled.) He’d also be put in the position of having to be the “face man” (of sorts) and make friends with optional allies. Stop being grumbly and glaring for five minutes to hold a conversation. It’ll be his ultimate struggle.

Casey can take Raph’s role because it’s basically his role except he’s not able to play the loner game anymore. The fam always kind of lets Casey do his own vigilante thing during the series, but now that’s not allowed. And Raph makes it very clear on day one. His job is to be by their side when something big is going down. And if being the leader’s second is the way to accomplish that then he has to deal. He can complain, he can whine, he can make the leader’s life impossible- but he has to be there when they need him. PERIODT.

Donnie can take Casey’s role because he deserves to not have to be a big part of the game for five minutes. There’s no monumental role, no impossible task, the fate of everything is no longer on his shoulders- he can just, fight. And when not on the field, he can do as he pleases. He’s not expect in the lab, in the dojo, in any kind of strategy planning- he can pick one or he can hang out. He can snack, he can videogames/shows, he can read comics, he can run away the surface- he has essentially free range when he’s not actively on a mission. (The only downside is that he actually does like having people rely on him and look to him for answers. He likes keeping his hands busy with purpose. And punching baddies 24/7 gets kinda old.)

Leo can take Donnie’s place. He’d be the most capable of taking on the role of genius since there have been scenes where he pays attention to his brother because the mission depends on it. He admits to helping out in the lab on occasion, or he’s seen with Donnie discussing blueprints, and he’s probably the most likely to be able to actually listen to Donnie’s written instructions or notes and not blow up the lab because he got frustrated or decided to wing it. (Plus, Leo should see the kind of stuff Donnie has to deal with on a daily basis.)

But anyway. That’s just my thoughts on the matter.

The same imperium that if doing eugenics experiments, established a strict cast system that favors the Reiloran and their psychic powers, and also they take over other people's bodies to take hits for them, literal meat shields (battle on episode 87 i think)

Yeah, like...look. I am going to stop making any assumptions as to why people are fixated on the idea that the gods should die and just say that there are people who are. So then, because that is ostensibly the Vanguard's motivation (though just to clarify, within canon, I think Ludinus's motivations are murky since at best he seems to have zero issue with vast loss of life, nor with working with people whose powers derive from a connection to an immensely powerful source that they didn't have to study for; and the Imperium's motivations for killing the gods are not on the basis of what the gods have or have not done but simply "we are trying to steal your house and your security system is making it very hard to do that"; and Liliana's answer comes down to "this came to me in a dream"; and Otohan at no point demonstrated any motivations whatsoever other than getting to show off some cool sword tricks) they are trying to justify the Vanguard's atrocities. I think actually because everyone has rightfully been saying "uh, what the fuck" they've been walking it back to "the Vanguard is wrong but their ideas are right" but at no point has anyone been able to pitch what destroying the gods without cooperating with the Kreviris Imperium looks like, it's really just "the story shall validate me for I have the mandate of Not Heaven" but also they did spend a really long time caping for the Vanguard. Anyway I literally don't know if they are putting the pieces together and don't care or if they're not; I'm not even going to guess on malice vs. stupidity, just state that those are the two options I am considering.

Sfjshhgfkl I saw the Sara/Talia anon and I'm losing my shit over potential stepbrothers Jay and Damian. I think for maximum comedy we should have Damian who is perfectly aware that his mother is beautiful because that's really just a factual matter and a weapon in her arsenal, and Jay who firmly believes his mom is awesome but has NO CLUE everyone thinks she's a MILF. He's one of those kids who goes 'what the hell do you mean my mom is hot' and then Jon, who has lived his entire life dealing with how badly so many people want to fuck one or both of his parents, has to pull his boyfriend aside and be like 'listen there is no good or kind way to inflict this kind of psychic damage but the internet found your mom's yearbook photos and now NakaMILFra is trending on twitter'. Jay discovers four new stages of grief on the spot. Then someone posts an old photo of Sara and Talia in their carefree and rebellious youth. Damian and Jay immediately call each other to scream DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS. They have no idea what the hell they're supposed to do with this information. Jay calls his mom because what the HELL and he's treated to a forty minute lecture about ways he can avoid Sara's mistakes with Talia being made with him and Jon (she adds that if Jon decides to dump Jay for a guy who's emotional constipation is so bad not even being that rich and that hot can make up for it, she'll key Jon's car for him. Apparently the possibility of angry Kryptonian has nothing on the knife throwing reality of angry Talia.) Jay has no idea what to do with any of the advice he's just received. Damian is now weighing his options on which couple to parent trap and he picks Sara/Talia for several truly logical reasons and the fact that Parousia-Gamorra has lots of really cool animals. He is nearly cheerful when he informs Jon of this, via Kryptonian hearing because Jay unplugged their router seconds after checking his socials. Jay has since been sitting on the kitchen floor, staring into a jar of Nutella like it's capable of producing the means to his salvation. Jon figures that Jay could probably do far worse step-mom wise than Talia purely because Talia will ensure that any attempts to call or carry out a hit on the Nakamuras end up dead in a ditch and Jon would like the reassurance that even when he's off planet someone is there to make the CIA cry. Of course she'll want to send her own agents to test Jay's reflexes probably but Jon's pretty sure Sara can talk her out of that. Talia being preoccupied ensuring her wife's country stays a free democracy and nobody succeeds in assassinating her wife or her stepson is by far the best plan anyone's come up with to keep Talia too occupied to be a supervillain and they all know it. Jon is torn between hating that this plan succeeding will make Jay a proxy member of the Batfamily, or preemptively buying popcorn because when Bruce tries to pull his emotionally incompetent helicopter parent bullshit Jay is going to make that man's life a living hell for as long as it takes him to realize that was a bad idea. Jay doesn't even find out about this plan until Damian has successfully tricked Saralia into a date and Damian throws Jon under the bus immediately. Jay is furious with Jon for not telling him ('you were barely past the psychic damage from twitter' is some bold hypocrisy from the guy who's going to end up paying off his therapist's mortgage) for about three days before Jon sits him down and lists the flat out pros and cons of this plan succeeding. 'Saralia cannot possibly be WORSE for each other than Brutalia' is on both lists. 'No dictator will be able to set up shop' is a compelling argument but what actually sells Jay on the whole thing is the knowledge that sleeping with Talia Al Ghul is going to be as strong a hitman deterrent for his mom as sleeping with a Kryptonian is for him. Bruce finds out about the plan several months after the three of them start working together and Jon gleefully sends him to voicemail every time he calls.

GOD PLEASE I DIDNT EVEN THINK ABOUT BRUCE. HE'D LOSE HIS FUCKING MIND. I do think the logical conclusion to this 'yes and' is like, Damian and Jon try and parent trap them, not realizing that like. This was no ordinary breakup. This was a TOXIC SAPPHICS IN THE LATE 80S breakup. Full Good Luck Babe by Chappell Roan. They act like they're DIVORCED. Jayjon and Damian are watching the date they set the two of them up on as a surprise like ;O_O

Its a mess. But more confusingly for the boys, like, Sara and Talia clearly still care a LOT about eachother, like Talia's showing up to defend Sara from western interference and Sara's lending her her top secret intel, but they WILL. NOT. GET. ALONG. Its an ACTIVE REFUSAL to let go of what happened in their past and move on from it. They'll be mid-fight with one of Waller's task forces and Sara will be like "REMEMBER THAT TIME YOU LEFT ME FOR A WHITE MAN?!" Sara's ranting to Jay when she gets home from their date that she CANT BELIEVE talia hasn't changed WHATSOEVER with her DUMB LONG HAIR and her BEAUTIFUL JASMINE PERFUME and Jay is just like

"Uhuh. Uhuh. Sure mom."

This is all extra funny if you consider the fact Damian canonically admires Jay's works and respects his opinion a lot. On the one hand, oh god he doesn't wanna think about his mom's love life. On the other.... an excuse to spend more time with Jay woooooo

I don't know if Sara and Talia would ever formally get back together again since I believe in my soul the both of them are too caught up in the torn and abandoned people they've become (since in this hypothetical, Sara's lost Jay's other mother, her late wife, and.... Talia's everything) but I think every once and awhile they share a cigarette on a rooftop after some shit goes down all lesbian-ly and theres this moment where they Wonder. They're each other's "one who got away" and they refuse to consider the alternative where they might've been happy.

Doesn't stop Jay and Damian from TRYING to make their moms talk to each other! Their biggest strategy is forcing the two women to coparent them by doing something extremely stupid

(Its occurred to me that, seeing as I'm branching out from Borderlands verse into others lately, I should probably just go ahead and fully define the important bits about what Zer0 is and what exactly they can do. This really mostly pertains to their psychic ability, which was mostly irrelevant for Borderlands characters to know off the bat but might actually come up right out of the gate for others.

I'm posting this for everyone to see because I'm proud of my little noodle alien and because it may come up if my Zer0 knows and trusts your character.

Normally this will be most relevant for characters with psychic/mind reading/telepathic type abilities. If you have questions I don't answer here, please feel free to come message me for clarification.

So! Zer0 is a natural psychic, namely they're a empath. Rather then a telepath communicating in words Zer0's kind communicate through projected images, emotions, and ideas. They cannot naturally speak words though they do make a variety of other noises that aid in emphasis or express simple ideas.

Humans cannot 'hear' them naturally. Given that the vast majority of humans have no psychic abilities what so ever, Zer0 is essentially a mute to them. Likewise, Zer0 cannot 'hear' humans in a way that means much to them. As far as they're concerned, humans are both deaf and mute to their proper form of communication.

All of Zer0's spoken communication in "quotation marks" is through a translator, which makes their thoughts audible. This is their canon, in-game voice for my Zer0. Yes, everything is in haiku or less then five syllables. Their tone is also very flat and unemotional and sounds mechanical, like a voice changer. Characters with particularly sharp ears might pick up that they make noise separate from the translator and/or that there isn't another voice under it like a voice changer.

When Zer0 speaks about 'hearing' people in reference to their abilities they're usually referring to their mental communication rather then verbal. Zer0 can hear and understand quite a few spoken languages but its not natural to them.

Now technicalities of how it works! So Zer0 is basically a telepath without words. Normally for them, this is just like talking is for humans: you stand in a room together and project your "voice" at someone and you're talking. Whatever you're projecting is what you're saying, no more or less. They can aim this somewhat but it's only to the same extent a human can aim their voice such as talking quieter and turning away from other people. They can also project very "loudly", essentially running around yelling their thoughts for anyone to hear. This is usually what they do considering they've been around humans for between 30-40 years now and have only had their own voice in their head. They've lost track of their volume in a desperate bid to be "heard" essentially.

For example, if your character is a telepath who naturally projects their mental voice and they, say, wonder whats for dinner, Zer0 would "hear" that and respond by projecting a picture of what they're making or maybe the memory of the taste of it, something like that.

Normal mental communication with them is no more complicated then that. The only major difference is, where humans (and most other species really) use words they'll project emotions and ideas. They've learned to use simple words in some verses, depending on how long they've been able to have frequent contact with another mind.

Here's the part where it gets more complicated. Humans can't usually "hear" them however, there is a way they're capable of forcing the mental connection required. Skin to skin contact forges a much deeper version of the mental link Zer0's species automatically has between each other. Normally for them this is a very personal thing to do with only ones family and close friends. Maybe not quite as personal as, say, Vulcans but its a much deeper connection then just having a conversation.

With touch both sides are basically in each other's heads entirely. Conscious, projected thoughts and a great deal of more subconscious thoughts are free game on both sides, though anyone with any skill at hiding or suppression their own thoughts could block them off from the other party. Likewise anyone who's skilled at reading minds for one reason or another would have a lot easier time doing this while touching then not. During this I headcannon a lot of 'mindspace' kind of things, like Zer0 can kind of use their own thoughts and emotions as near physical things: wrapping their mind around the others in a protective or affectionate embrace, drawing people deeper into their mind and out of the real world for a time, and lashing out using their own anger/pain/fear as a near physical weapon to cause mental/psychic damage are all examples. This does require physical touch for the deeper connection, though other psychics familiar with invading other's minds may be able to achieve such results without needing contact. Fair warning, someone they don't trust 100% doing this without permission is going to get mentally attacked.

Yes this applies heavily to sex. I won't go into detail here as thats for ships only but imagine a feedback loop of all sensations involved.

Specifically addressing my Trigun verse, from what I understand (keep in mind I haven't read the manga yet and Stampede is clearly nowhere near done, all this comes from the OG anime and my friends screaming about it) the Plants are, if not exactly telepathic, some amount of psychic. So yes, Zer0 can hear the Dependent Plants for sure. They may or may not really understand them but more then likely the exchange of emotion and ideas would be pretty clear. As for the Independent Plants, I would be inclined to say yes, they can hear them psychically and would probably hear them way better and more clearly then the Dependents. This is, of course, dependent on the muse I'm currently playing with and whether the mun plays them capable of projecting like that. Zer0 is not going to get into your muse's head without permission.

Hi I've been looking at your Mewtwo stuff for awhile now and I can't help but notice how nuanced and mature your takes are, especially on Giovanni who can be likened to a narcissistic abuser. Compared to most, ahem "artists" on here, who simply treat Mewtwo as a meme or housepet. You really seem to respect him, and I can't wait to see the comic on how you met him. I also admire how unapologetic you are to self ship with him.

I treat Mewtwo differently than most because I have a certain reverence for him. He was truly my guiding light at times where I didn't even want to exist any more. He inspires me to keep going and honestly I wouldn't even be having a job in biological research now if it wasn't for him. Considering how much impact he has had on my life so far, I could never just treat him as some sort of stupid meme or a housepet. Frankly, treating him as such is insulting. He is too intelligent to be a housepet, and he knows how to take care of not only himself, but also those close to him (I mean, look at him, and how he is depicted in official media as a HEALER. Always taking care of wounded and abandoned Pokémon,whether it's his clones, or wild Pokemon). I don't like the stereotypes surrounding him in the Fandom.

I don't think that many people are able to recognize Giovanni as a narcissist because they lack the experience of being raised by one, like me and my brother have been (we have real, lived experience of that, which is hard to understand for anyone who had supportive and normal parents). Or these people still have the naive belief that everyone deep down has a good core. They are oblivious to the fact that we have psychopaths among us who truly only care about themselves and who cannot be redeemed. A mafia boss who created a living weapon like Mewtwo to serve in his plan of world domination certainly counts as a fictional depiction of such psychopaths. Team Rocket has plundered Pokémon and tortured them and sold them for financial gain. But Fandom still gives Giovanni a pass somehow just because he is "sexy".

I was raised by a narcissist mother. I never felt truly seen by her, and she told me she made me to be her slave. So how else was I able to interpret Giovanni but as a narcissist, when he said the same to Mewtwo in the movie? "You were made to serve me." No wonder I took Mewtwo as my role model. I remember wishing I had actual psychic powers too, it would have made escaping so much easier. Instead I thought of him when I needed strength.

Oh man, when it comes to Mewtwo and shipping... I don't have any hesitation here. I have always loved Mewtwo, so why should I pretend that I don't? He was always important to me in real life as well, after all. Or why should I make up some Pokémon OC and use that as a proxy to ship with Mewtwo? Lakota/mewtwoandme actually admitted to me in a DM that this is what Gwen the Gardevoir is, BTW. She was too afraid to ship herself with Mewtwo because she worried that people will judge her for it and that it is seen as "icky" to selfship as herself. I am kind of disappointed of that, but it is her comic and story to tell. I am not really a fan of the Gardevoir x Mewtwo, or Mew x Mewtwo or Lucario x Mewtwo ships in general, they are too cliché for my liking and I don't see how movie1!Mewtwo would ever fall in love with them. However, I ADORE honest selfshippers of Mewtwo or Newtwo! I always get curious about their stories and how they fell in love with them!

Anyway, I hope you will enjoy my comic! Even though I gotta apologize that it is taking so long to finish - I am still swamped with work IRL, but will officially be free starting from the 16th, so hopefully I will get way more done then. Though I am wondering if to post on my blog here or make an entirely new blog? Or at least a special tag so people can just look at the comic and don't have to see my other selfships if they are only here for the Mewtwo content.

Halloween 2023 marathon: 9-11

The Slumber Party Massacre (dir. Amy Holden Jones, 1982)

A serial killer breaks free from jail, but the local high school population could not care less. There's sex to be had and joints to be smoked at the latest slumber party. Anyone not invited to the party either aims to crash it (the horny high school boys) or stay at home trying not to think about how uncool they are (the new girl who's better at basketball than her catty peers). All will be drawn together once the killer makes his way into town with a handy power drill that totally won't be used inappropriately.

I saw this movie for the first time earlier this year and immediately fell in love with its goofy charm. Apparently, it was written to be a parody of slasher tropes. The movie isn't played for broad comedy, but the humor is ever present in both overt and subtle ways. There's also a blend of cattiness and affection between the female characters that reminds me of the sorority house dynamics of Black Christmas, and the dialogue is often hilarious.

However, for all the humor, there are some creepy moments. The Driller Killer's "love" monologue is skin-crawling-- even if it is followed by a glorious parody of "the killer should be dead but isn't" trope.

This is one I love showing to other people. Everyone usually falls over laughing by the end, so it's a great group movie, but even alone, it's a fabulous time. You can currently catch it on Tubi for free.

Eyes of Laura Mars (dir. Irvin Kershner, 1978)

Controversial fashion photographer Laura Mars starts having psychic visions of the murders of her associates right as the crimes are being committed. She and everyone she knows become suspects of the slayings. The police find it particularly interesting that Laura's photos, which pair high fashion with images of murder and violence, resemble the subsequent crime scenes. Confused and feeling guilty, Laura teams up with cynical investigator John Neville, hoping to track down the killer before she or anyone else she loves becomes the next target.

This is a new-to-me horror film I caught on Tubi. All I knew about Eyes of Laura Mars is that it was directed by Irvin Kershner, a journeyman filmmaker best known for The Empire Strikes Back, and written by John Carpenter (though tampered with by many before shooting began). The movie is essentially an American spin on the Italian giallo genre. You have the familiar setting of the fashion world, sexy models who become murder victims, a hapless protagonist drawn into the mystery, and some very nasty kills.

There's a lot I like about this film, but in the end it didn't completely work for me. Maybe it's because unlike the best giallo, the movie doesn't have that otherworldly, psychedelic vibe that makes an audience able to swallow the sillier parts of the story. This is a very grounded, gritty presentation of New York City, making the more outrageous things in the film (like the unexplained psychic powers) stand out and not in a good way. Faye Dunaway's performance also verges into unintentional camp, with her wailing like she's in a 1940s melodrama much of the time. And I love melodramatic 1940s movies with appropriately overheated performances, but when the rest of your story is trying to be more realistic, that approach just takes me out of it because it doesn't gel. (Don't even get me started on the final twist, which I can't decide if I find laughable or clever.)

And yet, this is hardly a bad film. What frustrates me so much about it is that there's a lot that's pretty great. The supporting characters aren't the deepest in the world, but they are likable, so when they got picked off, I actually felt something. The movie also has an appealing time capsule element in its presentation of NYC during the height of the disco era. The fashions and the music are dated in the best way.

Despite my complaint about Dunaway's campy moments, Laura Mars is an interesting protagonist. She takes her art very seriously despite the derision she receives from her critics. She doesn't allow anyone to push her around, be it her boozy ex-husband, hostile reporters, or the police. She clearly loves the models, make-up artists, and other associates who work with her, and Dunaway does well lending a genuine sense of bereavement to the character as her social circle gets picked off one by one. However, I feel like the movie doesn't do much with her and she doesn't really have an arc.

I just really wish this film were a better version of itself. However, I can definitely see myself rewatching it someday, so maybe knowing the twists will make me better appreciate what is there. I don't know.

The Curse of Frankenstein (dir. Terence Fisher, 1957)

From adolescence, Baron Victor Frankenstein has had one dream: to cheat death. He and his research partner Paul Krempe delve into the mysteries of life, managing to reanimate a dead dog. Paul is satisfied with this achievement, but like a Disney Princess, Victor wants more. Like, creating a superbeing from bits and pieces of corpses more. This does not end well. At all.

It isn't spooky season without some Hammer Horror. I really have a hard time picking a favorite Hammer film, but The Curse of Frankenstein is definitely up there. Peter Cushing is so perfectly amoral and charming as Victor Frankenstein. I love Colin Clive in the Universal movies, but Cushing is my favorite in the part.

I've always admired how this movie sets itself apart from the Universal series without overdoing the opposition. The Universal movies were influenced by 1920s German expressionism, whereas the Hammer films go for more of a Victorian gothic meets explicit (by 1950s standards) sex and gore vibe. The sets and costumes are always wonderful in these films. I really love Cushing's glorious jackets, particularly the emerald green one.

Curse is also interesting for its frame narrative with Frankenstein telling the story from prison the hour before he is to be guillotined for his crimes. No one believes there was ever a creature and Victor wants everyone to know that, hey, he didn't commit ALL the murders. What's most fascinating about the frame story is the way it presents Paul, Victor's former tutor and research partner. Throughout the story, Paul is an unheeded voice of conscience tormented by the crimes Victor commits to achieve his goals. It's also implied Paul is in love with Victor's fiancee Elizabeth, and that this passion ignites further resentment against Victor on Paul's part because Victor clearly does not care about Elizabeth at all but is going to marry her anyway.

The film ends with Victor begging Paul to tell the authorities about the Creature, but Paul acts as though Victor is insane or just making it all up. He doesn't want to save Victor-- but is that because he wants to see justice done? Or is he also tight-lipped because he wants to secure Elizabeth for himself and knows she'll feel too duty-bound toward Victor (who supported her and her destitute aunt during Elizabeth's childhood) to break off the engagement unless the groom-to-be is, well, headless? It's a wonderfully ambiguous touch and it makes Paul more than just a nagging moral center.

Anyways, this is a perfect Halloween movie. Don't miss it if you've never seen it!

Something about divination.

Divination isn’t just about yes/no or finding answers. Divination isn’t “evil” or malice it’s how it’s used that can be determined.

Divination is a tool that is used in spiritual practices mainly to look into answers with current energies and POSSIBLE outcomes with the CURRENT energy.

Divination is NEVER precise. In divination there a few main factors I like to mention to my clients & when I’m posting for the World Wide Web. Those factors are:

- Divination is never precise.

- Energies can change.

- Time is fluid which means it could happen on different time lines for different people.

- People have freewill - this is MOST important because just because someone LOOKS in the CURRENT energy like they could take one action doesn’t mean they will. In fact their free will is able to change that.

Divination includes forms such as tarot cards, oracle cards, spirit boards, pendulums, charms, runes, dice, ogham sticks, tea leaf reading, automatic writing, scrying and more.

As much as I love divination when I teach a workshop or explain to anyone about divination I mention especially for skeptics that some divination tools started as a game. However I have personally found some you can learn how to use basically anything for divination it’s about feeling the energies off the tools.

What is personally the best for me is connecting with my spirit guides or past loved ones. As when I’m reading they like to have an input. Sometimes connecting with them and doing readings for my clients actually helps increase my foresight and helps me with more accurate readings.

However, it would extremely irresponsible and unprofessional for me to say EVERYONE can and should use divination.

I do not believe this. I believe yes, everyone can use divination. This is because everyone has the ability to connect to energy, everyone has psychic abilities, everyone has a power within its those who choose to hone their skills and acknowledge the power and dangers these skills can have. That is why I don’t believe everyone should use divination.

I believe divination takes time, practice and guidance. You can be self taught, however sometimes it’s nicer to have someone teach you the ins & outs the yes and no’s and SAFETY for divination.

Once upon a time yes some of the divination techniques were games but personally and professionally I would advise anyone from just hoping up and buying something and not knowing the pros and cons. Without knowing proper usage. Without knowing what should and should not be said or done or used. Without any knowledge do not touch those divination tools.

If you’re interested in divination do your research. You may find there’s some forms of divination you’re less comfortable with then others.

You never know what divination style you’re truly meant to use. You may like one way but connect better to another way. Divination is about self work too, it’s about learning about the tools, yourself, practice and advancing your well being with your skills.

Divination should never be used when you are feeling in a negative head space or feeling negative energy. Cleanse your energy around you, your energy and your tools often.

I love divination because it has taught me so much not only about myself but others and the energies around that connect us all.

(This list is not all-inclusive because I am terrible at making decisions and get attached to everything.)

10. Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy-books, not the terrible movie or laughably bad show)

I was known as the Harry Potter girl growing up (ugh), but Vampire Academy was the first series I truly fell in love with. Rose is loyal, sarcastic, a lot stubborn and a total bad ass. Her character development over the course of the series shows her go from a very talented but totally immature protector to a wise and trusted guardian.

9. Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly/Serenity)

One of the saddest things about Firefly being cancelled is that so many of the characters had a lot of potential to have great stories. Mal for me was one of those. He fought to free the struggling people from the tyranny of the government and failed miserably, turning him into someone completely cynical and closed off. He still finds a way to help in any way he can and depends on his crew to keep him grounded. I still love the line “May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.”

8. Nomi Marks (Sense8)

I could honestly put all of the main characters from this show on my list, it’s one of my favorite shows of all time. Nomi’s journey didn’t start with her transition (MtF). It started with a trans woman discovering she is psychically connected to 7 strangers. Sense8 was my first show with what could be considered real inclusivity and Nomi had by far one of my favorite stories. She’s a whip-smart and sassy “hacktivist” and spends her time just enjoying life and helping others like her with difficult pasts learn to enjoy theirs. In one of my favorite scenes she says “The real violence, the violence I realized was unforgivable, is the violence that we do to ourselves, when we're too afraid to be who we really are.” I’ve thought about it every single day since.

7. Lord Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

He really did have every reason to be a villain. He was permanently disfigured and banished by his own family as a literal child and sent on what everyone believed to be a futile mission just to get rid of him. He rejected most of the guidance from his caring Uncle until Zuko made the choice to look inward and change for himself. I know people bring him up a LOT for these kinds of posts, but for good reason. He realized that he could simply choose to do the right thing, after years of being angry, scared and alone. That’s powerful.

6. Evelyn Wang (Everything, Everywhere, All At Once)

My new favorite movie. As a white woman I will never be able to connect with this movie as much as the Asian community, and that’s okay. Inclusion should be about bringing stories from all cultures and all types of people to life, while having small parts of the story that everyone can connect to. For Evelyn, she was just a very lost, very sad woman who had given up on having any happiness in her life. She was beaten down, tired, overwhelmed and unable to reconnect with her own family through all of this. Still, when she was told that “Nothing matters”, in the end, she chose her daughter, Joy. “When nothing else matters, choose joy” is a pretty powerful philosophy.

5. Max Mayfield (Stranger Things)

Her story in season 4 really spoke to me. I feel like a lot of stories don’t always acknowledge that you can still grieve someone that caused you pain. A lot of her struggles really resonated with me and I just see her as a really important character.

4. Finn Mertens (Adventure Time)

What can I say? He’s a lovable idiot who becomes one of the most legendary heroes of all time. I relate to that because I myself am a lovable idiot but I’d settle for being just a well-liked author.

3. Amity Blight (The Owl House)

Amity easily had one of the best character arcs of that entire show. She was someone who was the best at everything and slowly realized that she was kind of terrible at just being a person. By the end of the show she was happy with herself, her life and her found family and that’s all anyone can really ask for.

2. Edalyn Clawthorne (The Owl House…again)

Girl’s had it rough. She is cursed at a young age, essentially destroying any potential she had in the magical world. Her curse led to a devastating fallout with her family and she spent majority of adulthood in isolation. She used that solitude to become confident in herself and her magic and became one of the most powerful witches ever. When she is given the opportunity to come face to face with the person who cursed her, she chose forgiveness. She took in a strange human who was lost because she saw herself at the same age and wished there was something back then to guide her. By the end of the show she has found the people who love and respect her for who she is: The love of my life.

1. Luz Noceda (The…Owl House)

All she ever wanted was to be understood. That’s the most relatable thing I’ve ever heard. When she comes across a strange realm, she doesn’t see demons or witches, she sees other people who are struggling to find who they are. By showing compassion and love to these people she becomes one of the most strongest and respected witches of all time. Her journey is so important to me and I hope all of us can find a Luz to show us what true friendship and love really looks like.

hi! im a beginner (just actually starting to learn meaningful things) and my area of interest is working with deities. i've been kinda of praying? asking for guidance? being open to idk forming a relationship with a being, and i think someone answered/is answering and we are somehow communicating, but i don't know how to find out who im talking to and im a bit terrified of doing something wrong or having things backfiring at me; what should i do? pls help me im so so so lost

Thanks for your question!! Just want to give a disclaimer to this post that this is my opinion and if you want a response that’s more tailored to your specific situation, I suggest consulting a tarot reader that does deity identifications. They will be able to consult with your spirit team directly and give you more specific answers!

Firstly, I want to let you know that if you are a complete beginner, I have several posts on deity work and starting that journey further down on my blog. Those might be able to help point you in the right direction if you are unsure of where to start.

Secondly, deity work and witchcraft are not synonymous however i am speaking from my experience as someone who practices both so please keep that in mind. In both witchcraft and deity work, you should not fear things going wrong. They will. You will inevitably make a mistake or ignore guidance when it is offered and that is okay. We are human, the gods know this and they understand that we aren’t perfect. Please don’t worry about messing up or getting it right on the first try.

Lastly, in terms of who you are talking to, the truth is I don’t know. Only you can really be the judge of that. If you are a complete beginner then it’s fairly likely that your ancestors are the ones responding. They tend to be the most interested in our lives and often contact us first. If you are convinced it is a deity though then you first need to decide what pantheon you are interested in. Remember deity work takes a lot of research and being able to narrow that down to a specific pantheon (Hellenic, Kemetic, etc) will make that significantly easier for you. Once again I detail the beginning steps on a post so please check that out for more info! I also highly suggest picking up some form of divination (tarot, runes, etc.) because that will be an extremely important part of your practice moving forward (at least in my case and for many others).

I want to strongly encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing though. Praying and asking for guidance is how we all begin. Following your intuition is the most important part of developing relationships and it will make all the difference.

Skimbleshanks is a former merchant, turned pirate after getting screwed by the navy/a governor/the generic powers that be. He specialises in navigation, and has a knack for predicting merchant ship routes. He has a stable long term thing with Asparagus, who is Bombalurina’s favoured smith. Skimble is the least stereotypical pirate, he’s the dad of the crew. He’s very loyal to them and Bomba completely trusts him. When docked in Nassau, Skimble spends all his time with Asparagus and is rarely seen outside his company. If he is, he’s usually pissed about it, and Bomba won’t call for him unless it’s urgent. Asparagus is more of a homebody. He’s generally happy to have pirates running about his place, they kind of come as part of a package deal with Skimbledad. He sells both to pirates and legit Businesscats, he’s not that bothered. Bomba buys almost exclusively from him.

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer just kinda show up one day and Bomba takes a liking to them and hires them. They don’t talk about their past (something Macavity related mayhaps) and everyone knows better than to ask. No one knows if they’re related or just besties. Coricopat was the one who found them wandering lost on one of New Providence’s more secluded beaches, presumably having washed up from somewhere. Jerrie is immediately enraptured by Cori and confused and enthralled by his abilities. Teazer thinks he’s cool, but doesn’t quite see Jerrie’s fascination. She likes Cori though, he’s cool and she respects him since he saved them. She often teases Jerrie about being in love with him, but she’s secretly very chuffed about it. Cori is the only one who knows where they came from and why, due to a combination of being psychic and Jerrie’s (rare) unconditional trust. They’re good with the canons and weaponry, and have a very useful knack of not dying despite the situations they get themselves into. They work as gunners on the ship.

Cori is a soothsayer and a witch, and has a reputation for being almost impossible to find (unless you are Mungojerrie, who always seems able to). That said, he always seems to appear when someone wants to trade. It’s just on his terms I guess. He lives on New Providence, but no one is entirely sure where. He operates out of some known locations though, where he provides supernatural assistance, psychic readings and suggestions, potions and magical items etc. No one is entirely sure about the range of his powers, but he always seems able to help. He makes predictions from time to time, and bad things tend to happen when people ignore what he says. So when he says Bomba should take Demeter into her crew, it is a given that this will happen. He rarely, if ever, gives reasons or explanations. He’s pretty friendly though, particularly with Misto, and will often appear with free advice for him and the others. His system of payment is unpredictable, he rarely takes money, but will request seemingly odd things from his seekers. Bomba once traded six pieces of green sea glass from a specific beach on Jamaica for a jar of impermeable gunpowder. Jellylorum also traded a supposedly cursed locket for a reading. There are rumours he has a sister, but no one knows who or where she might be.

SURPRISE Cori and Tantomile are mermaids. Mermaids all have a bit of witchcraft, but Cori and Tanto are particularly powerful. They can transform at will. Cori was fascinated by life on land as a wean, and chooses to live there most of the time as an adult, but he’ll still return to the sea from time to time. No one on land knows he is a mermaid. He is more skilled in divination, whereas Tanto specialises in storms. She is typically unconcerned by what goes on above the surface, but has been known to sink ships when offended. Cori is the only one she will typically listen to. She doesn’t get why he likes living on land so much, but Prov is pretty safe for pirates as navy ships always seem to face impossible conditions trying to get near there. Coincidence? I think NOT.

lavender : she doesn’t trust people right away. she’s precognitive enough to know that things and people aren’t always what they seem, they can be full of surprises. while she picks up on their energy and vibe and she’s drawn to that, she’s still uncertain and can’t predict what the other person is gonna do even if she’s highly intuitive. but she will test them out, be around them and get a feel for what they’re really like, giving them a chance. she listens to her feelings and the more she’s around someone and might choose to get to know who they are. she understands that she can’t know everything about a person at first, but when she’s around them enough to see that she CAN trust them and she’s able to understand them and build some kind of connection that’s consistent and she decides she likes them, yes. once trust is broken, cindy will always find herself questioning the other person’s intentions and prepare herself to be tricked somehow, already thinking ahead and watching for patterns that indicate insincerity. she will be constantly insecure about that person and start to think they don’t really like / respect her if they broke her trust to begin with.

lilac : cindy had an okay childhood. she spent a lot of time with her mom and her cats instead of other kids from her school because she felt different. she was different with natural psychic abilities, a slightly mystic aura and she could sense the way people reacted to her. she appeared to daydream a lot, seeming to be halfway between this world and another but she was actually experiencing visions ( though she didn’t talk about it ). some kids her age would avoid her, or just stare at her or not interact. they would give off the belief that she was weird more than they’d say it and she noticed, highly sensitive to the slightest changes in the world around her and could easily intuit things about people down to the most subtle detail. she tried to learn how to make herself more likeable with her dressing style and appearance, even though it didn’t always work and from that came a creative outlet. she developed a love for style and fashion, aesthetics, whatever was artistic from that. she was the quiet girl in the corner, absorbed in some kind of drawing or something completely separated from what everyone else was doing and she became content with that. cultivating her own reality and curiosity rather than internalize solitude. at home, her dad was either a workaholic or distant and ignored his family, obsessed with and addicted to the computer in their home. cindy and debbie were used to this, so cindy didn’t feel a big loss or void in her life when she was never that close to her dad to begin with. she was extra close to her mom instead.

lily : cindy’s closer to her mother, debbie than her other family members. debbie is kind, funny, caring and has a light energy that’s pleasant to be around. she’s thoughtful and considerate of other people, knows how to turn a bad day into a good one. she’s also fantastic at baking and cooking things and taught cindy a lot of that. she’s patient with cindy when she’s going through things and she’s willing to bend some rules to get what she wants, she doesn’t take nonsense from other people and knows when to use her voice when she has to. she can be a little opinionated at times, but cindy is more open minded.

marigold : it’s not in cindy’s nature to be constantly jealous, but she can feel that way regarding someone she has more than platonic feelings about and she senses that she’s been personally attacked, shown up or someone is trying to compete with her in a way ( cough vicki carmichael ). she is sensitive to the attention she gets compared to others in front of her, she will notice that and not feel good about it. she’ll either try to deal with this quietly, self regulate her emotions and ride it out until something nice happens and she’s distracted OR play the game and do something cute ( or a little wild ) to take back the attention and either way feels better once she knows she has it.

salvia : maybe ‘possessive’ isn’t the word for it but she can feel annoyed, upset and pissed off when another girl flirts with someone she loves / wants to an excessive degree. she doesn’t like to act or appear too clingy or insecure or be on that level as the offending party, but her anxiety is triggered and she gets ... weirdly sad. and competitive at the same time. if she’s pushed enough, she will play fun little show off games with the other female to get back into her confident vibe. natural selection, may the best one win and that’s cindy. she is highly emotional but rather than acting from a place of possessiveness, she finds comfort and relaxes when someone chooses her and makes it clear to both her and everyone else. she needs reassurance / validation when situations like that come up, even in small ways like touch and hand holding and she doesn’t like to actually admit that. but otherwise she’s pretty secure in her connections. to be possessive implies an undercurrent of control, and she doesn’t want to be that way toward someone she loves. she’s not the “psycho jealous girlfriend” type at all. if someone’s with her, she wants to know they want to be and give them the choice and free will instead of being demanding about it, even if she does get peeved by a third party if such an issue arises. ( but it’s different the other way around, she actually likes when someone is possessive of her because it makes her feel wanted. ) her possessions, she doesn’t care because no one really tries to steal her stuff and she will happily share her things, food, whatever.
