Splinter doesn't meditate 24/7 for spiritual refinement, he does it to build up immunity to the turtles' guilty faces
Mikey's his toughest opponent💀

I’m convinced that Master Splinter knew what he was saying to Donnie was utter bullshit, but seeing as how intelligent and temperamental Donnie was he knew he couldn’t just unleash this turtle onto the world without some sort of fail-safe.
So for the sake of humanity he would discretely try to convince Donatello that he was a peaceful turtle at heart.
Mostly so Donnie wouldn’t try to take over the world when he got older.

i like the idea that mr wisdom-knows-everything is just as silly as his sons, only internally instead of externally haha.

2012 raphael did not sleep for several days after meeting his mutant mayhem counterpart, and by extension, scumbug.
inspired by this post by @halfnekoslair which was one of the only posts i saw before seeing MM on friday! i went into this movie knowing splinter dated a cockroach and that’s it

Can we please normalize 2012Splinter being stern outwardly but his inward thoughts are just the fluffiest things ever instead of harping on Splinter being stern inside and out and also he’s abusive and mean and needs to be a better person because reasons??
I’ve read a few of the latest fascinations of the fandom making him 78.5% worse than he needs to be, and it’s fine and all, ya’ll do you, but there’s just something about the early 2012 fanfics where Splinter refers to his full grown, ninja/alien battling sons as “my little boys” in a mental monologue where you can just feel the fondness radiating from it that absolutely kills me.
Think about the potential here. And not just in fanfiction! I mean, something like delicately whispering, “My Donatello” when Donnie is hurting and making him feel safe because of it??
THAT KINDA BLOW IS DEVASTATING, I TELL YOU
My sons is how he vocalizes his love, but consider all the things he could say subconsciously?? I swear, the addition of possessive air like that is totally in character too, because he basically kept them to himself for fifteen years. Gosh, and the way he reacts when ANYONE harms/scares his kids?? Him saying this, especially during some kind of fight scene where he is defending them would be SO HIM.
FEELING THINGS JUST IMAGINING IT
HE IS THE DAD EVER
LET’S NORMALIZE FLUFFY SPLINTER

2012 Splinter’s origin is so fucking wild my dudes. Like, imagine, you’re a martial arts master, you settle down with your wife and child, and your best friend just. Absolutely cannot be Normal about it. So he comes and burns your house down. Shit. Fuck. Now you’re a widower and you’ve lost your child. What do you do? Well there’s nothing left for you in Japan, might as well go to America. So you go to New York. You’re grieving, but with time you start to heal, but you’re still feeling a bit of that empty nest and you need something to take care of. Alright, time to get a pet. So you go to the pet store, and you could get a normal pet like a cat or a dog, but oh man those freshly hatched turtles are really cute, and you like a challenge. So you leave the pet store with your new Emotional Support Turtles when you hear some shady shit going on, and you’re nosy as fuck, so you follow, with your Turtles. And then some guys who talk weird attack you and you get slimed and suddenly you’re a six foot tall rat and the pets you just bought that morning are an awful lot like human infants. What the fuck. How is this your life. Live in the sewers for the next 15 years.

I've seen loads of Splinter comparing Raph to Saki. Looking at Raph's anger and impulsiveness as exactly like Saki betraying and destroying everything.
But I wanna talk about Splinter who looks at Leo and Raph's rocky relationship and wish that his and Saki's relationship was like that. He sees that no matter how much they argue or annoy each other, there is no question that they are brothers and absolutely love each other.
He wishes that his and Saki's differences could've been water under the bridge. He wishes that he still had his brother. He wishes that his and Saki's relationship was as strong as Leo and Raph's.
