gosh, figuring out i am aplspec (greyplatonic) and loveless is so amazing honestly, cause it helps me finally understand why certain phrases always bothered me so much. specfically, when aroaces would defensively say "I'm not loveless!" or "I'm not heartless!" like, yeah I get why they say those things. you wouldn't want to be seen as loveless or heartless if you aren't, especially not in a world where those things are often seen as literal insults. but yet, it still bothered me. why did they feel the need to emphasize so much that they "can still feel SOME things!!" ? why would it be an issue if they DIDN'T feel those things? why would it be an issue if they were loveless or heartless? just becuase you don't feel love for someone does NOT automatically mean you feel hatred for them, right? it doesn't even mean you dislike them. you can reject someone simply becuase you don't see them romantically, but you can still like them. why is it suddenly different when it comes to all feelings? sure, i don't feel much for others, but that doesn't mean i want harm to come upon them! why would i? i just don't feel anything. and, I do still CARE about people in GENERAL, like yeah i don't want people to get hurt because. that is wrong? but that doesn't mean i LOVE them. i really don't get how that's so difficult to understand. and there's a lot of other feelings besides love. there's respect, admiration, and care. there's so much... why is the focus always placed on love? and just moving your focus on love down a notch from romantic to platonic, isn't helping anything. i mean yeah, platonic love is pretty cool, friendships are cool, but we don't need to act like it's the sole meaning of life. you are still implying you need to love someone to live. you are still implying that everyone feels some form of love, which is so not true. srry this got kind of rambly haha. tbh i just think it's super cool that aplatonic and loveless are actual words and are things that other people can actually understand and relate to. i'm just like... there's other people who feel like i do?? really?? i always expected that if i told others "i don't really... feel much for other people. i dont care about them the way i think i'm supposed to." that i'd be called a bad person. it's just really really cool that there are accpeting people out there that WONT call be a bad person for this aspect of myself, and WONT try to make me change it (cause like. i cant change it. i cant make myself feel a feeling that i DONT HAVE). i just wish that the majority were more accepting of people like us.

I noticed some a-spec flags were missing tertiary counterparts, so I made some. Some of these flags have already been made before, so they're not all original (I still wanted to have all the flags together in a set, and all in the same res).

Made a little comic for Valentine’s Day and how fricking tired I am of hearing nothing but love songs on the radio all day. Sorry the detail isn’t as much as usual, I just thought of it during school and wanted to post it as soon as I could.

Pride flags are (in order): (If any of these definitions are wrong/badly explained, please tell me, I’ll try to correct it as soon as possible)

Panel one: Aromantic- doesn’t experience romantic attraction; Asexual- doesn’t experience sexual attraction; Aplatonic- doesn’t experience platonic attraction; Agender- doesn’t have a gender

Panel two: Demiromantic- only experiences romantic atteaction after a strong emotional bond has been formed; Demisexual- only experiences sexual attraction after a strong emotional bond has been formed; Demiplatonic- only experiences platomic attraction after a strong emotional bond has been formed; Demigender- A gender in which someone is partially, but not fully, a given gender (often further split into demigirl, demiboy, etc.)

Panel three: Queerplatonic- a relationship blurs the lines between platonic and romantic, and prioritizes a platonic partnership over a romantic one; Cupiosexual/romantic (I looked it up and it seems like it’s the same flag for both, feel free to correct me in the notes)- does not experience sexual/romantic attraction, but desires a sexual/romantic relationship; Fraysexual/romantic (same deal as the cupio flag)- only experiences sexual/romantic attraction to those they don’t have a strong connection with, attraction will often decrease or disappear as they get to know the person better; Asensual- Does not experience sensual attraction

Panel four: Greyromantic- Relates to aromanticism, but feels that there are some parts of their experience that aren’t fully described by the word aromantic; Greysexual- Relates to asexuality, but feels that there are some parts of their experience that aren’t fully described by the word asexual; Greyplatonic-Relates to aplatonicism, but feels that there are some parts of their experience that aren’t fully described by the word aplatonic; Greygender- Gender identity is partially outside the binary, and has a strong ambivilance about their gender identity or expression

i found a handy reddit ask that you can peruse for some more in detail answers, but the general consensus on what platonic attraction feels like is a warmth or excitement over being with someone that lacks certain hallmarks of romantic attraction. personally, it's an urge to spend more time with someone, but without the urge for it to be romantic (although i don't feel romantic attraction, so)

being aplatonic is spectrum just like other parts of the aspec! so, yes, grayplatonic and demiplatonic are existing labels :)) i myself nebulously identify as demiplatonic!!

p sure im on the aplatonic spectrum (greyplatonic)

i have no interest in making friends (i like the ones i have though), and it is hard for me to make and keep friends

usually i just enjoy hanging out with people (in person or a discord server) and thats the extent of it, to have fun/discuss things, very fucking rarely will i find someone i want to form a bond with

and everyone always like "well if u like talking to and hanging out with them ur friends!" EHHHHH DOESNT FEEL LIKE IT. if we were friends wouldn't i miss them and care more and stuff, because i don't.

in my head its either we are super close and have a bond/working on it or ur not my friend

So I'd changed schools this year (junior in highschool), and just a few days ago i overheard a couple of my classmates talking about the lbtqia+ community and asked them if they knew what the 'a' in the acronym stood for, the first answer was asexual, to which i proceeded to tell em it stood for aromantic, agender and some other a-specs, from how they were so eager to learn i went 'wanna know a fun fact?' and came out to them as aroace (later greyapl as well). They told me that now that they know, it kind of made sense lolol. And today in the break while i was reading my book they came up to me asked how their favorite aroace was doing :/ and what my fav flag was

Today again, in the bus i asked another one of my classmates if she knew what the 'a' in the acronym stood for, first answer was agender, i was totally blown away, went woahhhh and proceeded to say what else it stood for. Then. . . she said at one point she thought she was aro. At that point i was enchanted, I Am Aromantic! i told her. we talked about it for a bit, when i discovered and identified with the terms etc. until my stop came. I told her how important that conversation was for me cause I'd never spoken about it to people irl, much less even meet people who knew the terms. She said she was touched. I said, no I am touched.

If those two interactions dint light up my entire car ride (yeah someone has to pick me from the bus stop, school bus sucks ); back home, rest of the day, coming weekend, next week and possibly this entire month. One of them is bi and another bi questioning (the one who questioned being aro). For once, perhaps the first time, to be myself, even if i wasn't trying to be anything else, to have people know, perceive me for what i am, i dint know what sort of weight it had on my shoulders until it was lifted away. Awesome people exist, just met some the past couple weeks and now will always remember these encounters as my first major coming out (i had already to my friends but this one felt different). I was overcome with so much elation, relief, happiness, joy, satisfaction, bliss, peace i wanted to scream it out. So here it is, it's not that hopeless after all

hi i'd like to say that not all aroapls are loveless

there's a big overlap in the loveless and aroapl community but not all of us are

i'm aromantic grey/demiplatonic and i love a lot of people and things

i love my mum i love my brother i love my cats and i love my friends

even if i wouldn't say im platonically attracted to all of them i still do love them and i use the word love to describe how i feel about them because i think it fits

i dont know what love really means and i think i mainly feel it for family but i do feel it and i do tell friends i love them because i do! attraction doesn't define love to me at all, it's just a feeling and it doesn't need a definition

there is NOTHING wrong with being loveless, but not all of us are

again, nothing wrong with being aroapl and loveless. at all. but some people might think all of us are and that just isnt true

i saw "<2" being used for loveless aros, which i think is super cool as a loveless aroace, but also as an aplspec person! I think personally, I actually really like using "<2" to show care, especially with other aplatonic people, without implying there are any feelings behind it.

idk if this is already a thing or not, but i just have it in my head now that "<2" is an aplatonic heart. or, rather, an aspec heart in general! since it doesn't imply romantic OR platonic love to me, just simply care or respect. tbh, i didn't think i would like using it as much as i like it now, since i like using "<3" still. but tbh i really like using "<2" when interacting with other aplatonics, it just makes me feel more comfortable. :)
