maybe people have been too conditioned by the bl formula prevalent in the 'one fell first, but the other fell harder' trope that kinda requires the second character to 'suffer' a little before they're let in. the sole basis being that character 1 has dealt with unreciprocated feelings for longer and hence now has to play hard to get in the latter half to even things out. tho unfortunately relationships don't work like that. people dont. Most definitely not in unknown. Qian suffered serious parental abuse and harrassment from the only person he had in that role. He probably has never developed feelings for anyone or ever felt the need to get intimate with them. it makes sense for his character. all he's done is toil away to secure a future for his siblings, his only family. So ofcourse he needs to take his time. ep 7 was almost wordless in his solo scenes, but his internal journey was so fantastically expressed. Yuan understands. hence why we also know that he won't be able to do any crazy stuff for pettiness' sake either. Nor does he want to. they understand each other. they've always loved each other, until it took another form. First on yuan's part and now qian. What wasn't closely examined earlier due to proximity has been now, on Qian's part; in the absence of Yuan.

i love full fledged first episodes, i love characters with history where it feels like the story has been ongoing, and we just happened to join in now. it's so much more alluring than when a story seems to start anew. i love self aware characters. i love characters who know what they want and do not hesitate to seize a chance when they see one. i love midnight vibes, i love a good 'the night is still young' atmosphere. i lovee warm colours. i'm in.
