The Future of Accounts Receivable: Automation and Innovation
Do you know that the future of accounts receivable is looking bright, with automation and innovation leading the way?
With the advent of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, the process of managing your accounts receivable is becoming more efficient and accurate.
Now, you may have doubts about What is Automation? and How Automation can help you streamline your Accounts receivable? Let’s discuss that in this article.
What is Automation?
The term automation refers to using technology to perform tasks automatically using machines, software, or other tools without human intervention or control.
An example of automation is a factory assembly line, where machines are used to assemble products automatically. Machines are programmed to perform specific tasks, such as welding or painting, and can work around the clock without the need for human intervention.
Another example of automation is a self-checkout machine at a grocery store, which allows customers to scan and pay for their items without the assistance of a cashier.
Overall, automation can help to increase efficiency, reduce the need for labor, and improve accuracy and consistency in tasks. However, it can also lead to job displacement, as some tasks may be automated and performed by machines instead of people.
How Automation can help you streamline your Accounts Receivable Process?
Automation can help streamline your accounts receivable process by allowing you to quickly and accurately
process invoices and payment requests,
track customer payment history,
generate reports.
This can help you to manage your cash flow and ensure that you are getting paid faster and more promptly.
Here are some specific ways in which automation can help with accounts receivable:
1. Invoice generation:
Automated invoice generation is the process of creating and sending invoices to customers without the need for direct human intervention. Invoices are created in the accounts receivable process when a transaction is completed or a service is supplied to a customer with a credit base.
In most cases, automated invoice creation involves the use of software or a system that creates and distributes invoices to customers based on predetermined workflows or communication templates.
Using automated invoice generation in the accounts receivable process has various advantages. By removing the need for manual data input and invoice production, it can save time and decrease the chance of errors. By providing customers with clear, accurate, and timely invoices, automated invoice production can also help you optimize your invoicing and payment procedures. Furthermore, automated invoice generation can enhance cash flow by allowing you to issue invoices and receive payments from customers more rapidly.
To deploy automated invoice generation, you're invoicing and payment processes must be configured with the right accounts receivable software or system. This may involve integrating the system with your accounting software or other business systems, as well as creating rules or triggers for invoice generation and delivery. Once configured, you can use the system to generate and send invoices to your customers depending on the predefined workflows and communication templates.
2. Payment tracking:
The use of technology and software to monitor and record customer payments is referred to as automated payment tracking in the accounts receivable process. This procedure assists you in successfully managing your accounts receivable, which is the money owed by your customers for products or services that are given but not yet paid for.
Using automatic payment tracking in the accounts receivable process has several advantages.
Accounts Receivable Automation enables you to record payments promptly and correctly as they are made, lowering the chance of errors and blunders.
Automated payment tracking can assist you in identifying potential payment difficulties, such as late or missing payments so that they can be resolved as soon as possible.
By giving real-time information about the state of your accounts receivable process, automated payment tracking may help you manage your cash flow more efficiently.
Overall, automated payment tracking in the accounts receivable process can help you handle your financial transactions and financial management operations more efficiently and precisely than before.
3. Report generation:
In the accounts receivable process, automated report generation refers to the use of software or other technical tools to automatically generate reports linked to the payment of invoices and other debts owing to a business.
These reports may provide information on
the total amount of money owed,
the payment status,
any outstanding amounts.
An aging report, which displays the period that has passed since an invoice was issued and the current state of payment, is a typical type of report generated in the accounts receivable process.
Cash flow reports, which indicate the amount of money flowing into and going out of your business, and accounts receivable summaries, which offer an overview of the total amount of money owed to your business, are two other sorts of reports that can be generated.
You can profit from automated report generation by making it easier to track and manage your accounts receivable. You can save time and resources by automating the process of creating these reports, and you can also make it simpler to discover any errors or errors in your accounts receivable with real-time and updated reports.
Overall, automation can help you streamline your accounts receivable process and improve your cash flow by making it easier to manage invoices, track payments, and generate reports.

The Iconoclast: Appendix
This is the appendix for my fic The Iconoclast, in which I will discuss some of my cultural and historical inspirations for the worldbuilding.
Disclaimer: I'm certainly not an expert on or practitioner of all the cultures I took inspiration from. In outlining my influences I hope to show my admiration and give appropriate credit to them.
Contents
Intro
Religion
Martial culture
Talent show
Miscellaneous
The Iconoclast is set in the same world as ATLA, about 800 years before the era of the cartoon. I was inspired by 10th-11th century societies; the Fire Nation is inspired by the Khmer empire, Kyoshi Island is inspired by Heian period Japan, and so on. Of course, the aesthetics of Hari Bulkan are heavily inspired by Angkor—Virtual Angkor was a huge help in visualising the city.
Tumblr media
The immense population of Angkor was sustained by intricate water management techniques. The Khmer built reservoirs to collect water and sustain agriculture through the dry season. However, the impressive structures of Angkor had a dark side: they were built by enslaved labourers. Enslaved labour was extracted through human trafficking and debt bondage. In The Iconoclast, I integrated the institution of slavery with the caste system.
The exception to my adherence to periodisation was in the Inuit traditions that inspired the Southern Water Tribe, as the 10th-11th centuries appear to have been a period of migration eastwards across the Arctic for Inuit people. In addition to this, periodisation in Inuit history is more difficult to reconstruct due to the colonial destruction of knowledge. As a result, I took broader inspiration from pre-colonial Inuit culture.
Religion
The Fire Nation is based on the Khmer empire, which in this period adhered to Hinduism before the uptake of Buddhism. The cult of the Devaraja (lit. “god-king” in Sanskrit) arises from the specifically Southeast Asian branch of Hinduism. The Devaraja is regarded as the avatar (in this case, a human incarnation) of Vishnu. The Khmer king was marked out by dress: he wore a golden crown, or a wreath of flowers. His palms and the soles of his feet were stained red. He wore a sampot patterned all over with flowers—the more flowers, the higher the status.
I conceptualised Zuko as being seen as an incarnation of the sun. Following Hinduism, this would be Surya. Fanon tends to use “Agni”, in fact the god of fire. Either way, as a non-practitioner of this religion, I’ve personally avoided using gods still worshipped today in my worldbuilding. My inspiration has largely been in the philosophy of religion.
Such philosophical ideas include: dharma, avatara, ahimsa, and brahman vs. atman. I found the Bhagavad Gita highly informative in developing these concepts—themselves debated in Hinduism—as well as ideas about the dilemma of Arjuna and the imagery associated with Krishna. I had an enlightening conversation with my friend Tana, who convinced me of the need to address the legacy of caste and casteism arising from the text. Ideas of caste carry certain baggage in the western world that I wanted to pare back, hence the differing terminologies of “in-” and “out-caste” used in The Iconoclast.
Tumblr media
The philosophies of Hinduism overlap with and develop in slightly different ways in Buddhism, which I explored through Choden. One instance is the Hindu notion of the Chakravarti, an ideal universal emperor (lit. “the one whose wheels are turning” in Sanskrit). A non-secular Chakravarti would in fact be a Buddha, someone who has reached enlightenment. Since Choden is the one who introduces this concept, I used the more literal term “the Turner of the Wheel” to disambiguate from “Buddha” (which immediately draws certain connotations), and also to draw a more direct relationship between the Arjuna imagery associated with Zuko.
This religious worldview stands in contrast to animism of pre-/early Shinto Japanese religion and Inuit spirituality, as reflected by Suki and Sokka. Princess Mononoke was in fact a huge inspiration! I conceived of the kami in the context of Shintoism before the major influence of Buddhism; Suki also worships at a kamidana shelf.
Tumblr media
For the Inuit, all things have anirniq, “breath/soul”, which lingers even after death. Therein lies the tension: between the need to hunt for survival and the vengeful soul that the act of killing liberates. The website I used as my source has a great quote on this: “the great peril of our existence lies in the fact that our diet consists entirely of souls.” These souls must be placated through ritual and observance of taboo.
Importantly, I was interested in how each practitioner of religion approaches that philosophy in their individual ways, so none of the characters are perfect “representatives” of an ideal embodiment of that religion. Zuko is wary of his god status. Choden’s obsession with Zuko as Chakravarti makes her an outlier among the airbenders. Sokka trusts his “material” technologies of survival (i.e. weaponry) over spirituality, even though he practises the rites still, such as the smearing of lampblack and ritual words.
Martial culture
Sokka’s weapons generally mirror the ones he had in the show, with some additional embellishment. The snow knife is used to cut snow, but applied into a martial context by Sokka. The metal is sourced from a meteorite and cold forged; my inspiration was the Cape York meteorite, which Greenlandic Inuit used to fashion tools. Sokka’s club is made of jawbone, the strongest bone and stronger still from a herbivore. I combined the caribou and wombat into the “caribombat” for this, a nod to both an important Arctic animal to Inuit culture and to Sokka’s antipodean roots.
Tumblr media
Suki is based on early samurai. She uses the fans from the show, but instead of the katana (which we see her wield in “Appa’s Lost Days”) she uses a tanto, which is a kind of predecessor of the katana and can be used as an offhand blade or a weapon in its own right. Women could also carry a smaller version of this blade for self defence. Her armour is Heian period do-maru armour, which was a lighter development on older styles of armour, made of scales of lacquered leather. I was particularly in love with the idea of her having a helmet and a men-yoroi mask, which was used as facial armour.
Tumblr media
Zuko’s fighting style is inspired by bokator, a Khmer boxing style. He uses the short sticks instead of the dual dao, which can become truly dynamic weapons!
Talent show
Suki’s performances are based on the Japanese tea ceremony and bianlian from Sichuanese opera. The preparation method of the Japanese tea ceremony—whisking powdered tea—is in fact borrowed from the Chinese Song dynasty, which fits the time period of the world. Bianlian involves a performer very quickly changing a series of masks to a secret technique. It’s way more fun to watch on video than to read, I admit!
Osha’s dance is… meant to be the royal Cambodian ballet. The dance evokes the apsaras, dancing celestial beings in Hindu culture (incidentally, they are depicted on the walls of the fire temple on Full Moon Island). And just like western ballet, it takes years of training and skill to master!
Tumblr media
Miscellaneous
Druk is, in this conception, a naga instead of… whatever unholy mix of cultures’ dragons LoK drew him as. Nagas are found across South and Southeast Asian cultures, and in Khmer culture they are typically represented as serpents—sometimes with multiple heads. They are associated with water, prosperity, and various other positive connotations. There’s a whole rabbit hole I don’t really want to get into about why I’m putting a water-associated creature in the Fire Nation (East Asian dragons are associated with water too!) but I do want to point out that there is a natural phenomenon on the Mekong called “naga fireballs” so… I’m running with that.
Tumblr media
Full Moon Island is Crescent Island… before the eruption that turned it into a caldera.
Osha’s name is not a health and safety pun; I’m not American and I call it WH&S, it was a total coincidence. It means “shining” in Sanskrit—apt for a Fire Nation character, I think.
And finally… Mo Liudou’s name is a Cantonese joke! 冇料到 means “lacking results”. And the place where he comes from, “Mo Gwaiyong” (冇鬼用), means “no bloody use”. So he's Lacking Results from No Bloody Use.

One of America’s most corporate-crime-friendly bankruptcy judges forced to recuse himself
Tumblr media
Today (Oct 16) I'm in Minneapolis, keynoting the 26th ACM Conference On Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing. Thursday (Oct 19), I'm in Charleston, WV to give the 41st annual McCreight Lecture in the Humanities. Friday (Oct 20), I'm at Charleston's Taylor Books from 12h-14h.
Tumblr media
"I’ll believe corporations are people when Texas executes one." The now-famous quip from Robert Reich cuts to the bone of corporate personhood. Corporations are people with speech rights. They are heat-shields that absorb liability on behalf of their owners and managers.
But the membrane separating corporations from people is selectively permeable. A corporation is separate from its owners, who are not liable for its deeds – but it can also be "closely held," and so inseparable from those owners that their religious beliefs can excuse their companies from obeying laws they don't like:
https://clsbluesky.law.columbia.edu/2014/10/13/hobby-lobby-and-closely-held-corporations/
Corporations – not their owners – are liable for their misdeeds (that's the "limited liability" in "limited liablity corporation"). But owners of a murderous company can hold their victims' families hostage and secure bankruptcies for their companies that wipe out their owners' culpability – without any requirement for the owners to surrender their billions to the people they killed and maimed:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/08/11/justice-delayed/#justice-redeemed
Corporations are, in other words, a kind of Schroedinger's Cat for impunity: when it helps the ruling class, corporations are inseparable from their owners; when that would hinder the rich and powerful, corporations are wholly distinct entities. They exist in a state of convenient superposition that collapses only when a plutocrat opens the box and decides what is inside it. Heads they win, tails we lose.
Key to corporate impunity is the rigged bankruptcy system. "Debts that can't be paid, won't be paid," so every successful civilization has some system for discharging debt, or it risks collapse:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/10/09/bankruptcy-protects-fake-people-brutalizes-real-ones/
When you or I declare bankruptcy, we have to give up virtually everything and endure years (or a lifetime) of punitive retaliation based on our stained credit records, and even then, our student debts continue to haunt us, as do lawless scumbag debt-collectors:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/08/12/do-not-pay/#fair-debt-collection-practices-act
When a giant corporation declares bankruptcy, by contrast, it emerges shorn of its union pension obligations and liabilities owed to workers and customers it abused or killed, and continues merrily on its way, re-offending at will. Big companies have mastered the Texas Two-Step, whereby a company creates a subsidiary that inherits all its liabilities, but not its assets. The liability-burdened company is declared bankrupt, and the company's sins are shriven at the bang of a judge's gavel:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/02/01/j-and-j-jk/#risible-gambit
Three US judges oversee the majority of large corporate bankruptcies, and they are so reliable in their deference to this scheme that an entire industry of high-priced lawyers exists solely to game the system to ensure that their clients end up before one of these judges. When the Sacklers were seeking to abscond with their billions in opioid blood-money and stiff their victims' families, they set their sights on Judge Robert Drain in the Southern District of New York:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/05/23/a-bankrupt-process/#sacklers
To get in front of Drain, the Sacklers opened an office in White Plains, NY, then waited 192 days to file bankruptcy papers there (it takes six months to establish jurisdiction). Their papers including invisible metadata that identified the case as destined for Judge Drain's court, in a bid to trick the court's Case Management/Electronic Case Files system to assign the case to him.
The case was even pre-captioned "RDD" ("Robert D Drain"), to nudge clerks into getting their case into a friendly forum.
If the Sacklers hadn't opted for Judge Drain, they might have set their sights on the Houston courthouse presided over by Judge David Jones, the second of of the three most corporate-friendly large bankruptcy judges. Judge Jones is a Texas judge – as in "Texas Two-Step" – and he has a long history of allowing corporate murderers and thieves to escape with their fortunes intact and their victims penniless:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/08/07/hr-4193/#shoppers-choice
But David Jones's reign of error is now in limbo. It turns out that he was secretly romantically involved with Elizabeth Freeman, a leading Texas corporate bankruptcy lawyer who argues Texas Two-Step cases in front of her boyfriend, Judge David Jones.
Judge Jones doesn't deny that he and Freeman are romantically involved, but said that he didn't think this fact warranted disclosure – let alone recusal – because they aren't married and "he didn't benefit economically from her legal work." He said that he'd only have to disclose if the two owned communal property, but the deed for their house lists them as co-owners:
https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24032507-general-warranty-deed
(Jones claims they don't live together – rather, he owns the house and pays the utility bills but lets Freeman live there.)
Even if they didn't own communal property, judges should not hear cases where one of the parties is represented by their long term romantic partner. I mean, that is a weird sentence to have to type, but I stand by it.
The case that led to the revelation and Jones's stepping away from his cases while the Fifth Circuit investigates is a ghastly – but typical – corporate murder trial. Corizon is a prison healthcare provider that killed prisoners with neglect, in the most cruel and awful ways imaginable. Their families sued, so Corizon budded off two new companies: YesCare got all the contracts and other assets, while Tehum Care Services got all the liabilities:
https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/prominent-bankruptcy-judge-david-jones-033801325.html
Then, Tehum paid Freeman to tell her boyfriend, Judge Jones, to let it declare bankruptcy, leaving $173m for YesCare and allocating $37m for the victims suing Tehum. Corizon owes more than $1.2b, "including tens of millions of dollars in unpaid invoices and hundreds of malpractice suits filed by prisoners and their families who have alleged negligent care":
https://www.kccllc.net/tehum/document/2390086230522000000000041
Under the deal, if Corizon murdered your family member, you would get $5,000 in compensation. Corizon gets to continue operating, using that $173m to prolong its yearslong murder spree.
The revelation that Jones and Freeman are lovers has derailed this deal. Jones is under investigation and has recused himself from his cases. The US Trustee – who represents creditors in bankruptcy cases – has intervened to block the deal, calling Tehum "a barren estate, one that was stripped of all of its valuable assets as a result of the combination and divisional mergers that occurred prior to the bankruptcy filing."
This is the third high-profile sleazy corporate bankruptcy that had victory snatched from the jaws of defeat this year: there was Johnson and Johnson's attempt to escape from liability from tricking women into powder their vulvas with asbestos (no, really), the Sacklers' attempt to abscond with billions after kicking off the opioid epidemic that's killed 800,000+ Americans and counting, and now this one.
This one might be the most consequential, though – it has the potential to eliminate one third of the major crime-enabling bankruptcy judges serving today.
One down.
Two to go.

On Wednesday, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Chair Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Washington) reintroduced a proposal to make higher education free at public schools for most Americans — and pay for it by taxing Wall Street.
The College for All Act of 2023 would massively change the higher education landscape in the U.S., taking a step toward Sanders’s long-standing goal of making public college free for all. It would make community college and public vocational schools tuition-free for all students, while making any public college and university free for students from single-parent households making less than $125,000 or couples making less than $250,000 — or, the vast majority of families in the U.S.
The bill would increase federal funding to make tuition free for most students at universities that serve non-white groups, such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). It would also double the maximum award to Pell Grant recipients at public or nonprofit private colleges from $7,395 to $14,790.
If passed, the lawmakers say their bill would be the biggest expansion of access to higher education since 1965, when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Higher Education Act, a bill that would massively increase access to college in the ensuing decades. The proposal would not only increase college access, but also help to tackle the student debt crisis.
“Today, this country tells young people to get the best education they can, and then saddles them for decades with crushing student loan debt. To my mind, that does not make any sense whatsoever,” Sanders said. “In the 21st century, a free public education system that goes from kindergarten through high school is no longer good enough. The time is long overdue to make public colleges and universities tuition-free and debt-free for working families.”
Debt activists expressed support for the bill. “This is the only real solution to the student debt crisis: eliminate tuition and debt by fully funding public colleges and universities,” the Debt Collective wrote on Wednesday. “It’s time for your member of Congress to put up or shut up. Solve the root cause and eliminate tuition and debt.”
These initiatives would be paid for by several new taxes on Wall Street, found in a separate bill reintroduced by Sanders and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-California) on Wednesday. The Tax on Wall Street Speculation would enact a 0.5% tax on stock trades, a 0.1% tax on bonds and a 0.005% tax on trades on derivatives and other types of assets.
The tax would primarily affect the most frequent, and often the wealthiest, traders and would be less than a typical fee for pension management for working class investors, the lawmakers say. It would raise up to $220 billion in the first year of enactment, and over $2.4 trillion over a decade. The proposal has the support of dozens of progressive organizations as well as a large swath of economists.
“Let us never forget: Back in 2008, middle class taxpayers bailed out Wall Street speculators whose greed, recklessness and illegal behavior caused millions of Americans to lose their jobs, homes, life savings, and ability to send their kids to college,” said Sanders. “Now that giant financial institutions are back to making record-breaking profits while millions of Americans struggle to pay rent and feed their families, it is Wall Street’s turn to rebuild the middle class by paying a modest financial transactions tax.”

— extra info for those not familiar with the academy series by c.l. stone ;
I know I'm gaining more readers, those who aren't familiar with the academy, so I'll do a short explanation of what you'll be seeing from the academy!
In short, the academy series is a reverse harem/polyamory series set in Charleston, South Carolina.
( so you'll be seeing multiple men date the same women in this book, so don't be shocked lmfaoo ) most of this won’t happen until we are well into the story — but I’d hate to confuse all of you! I’d like every single one of you to enjoy and understand the story completely!
The academy ( that MFC won't be much involved or at all ) is basically a top secret organization that specializes in helping men, women, and children who are in an abusive relationship or homes and help them get out of that — most join the academy to help others in the same situations.
There are teams that work together and are basically a family in all but blood; and "family is a choice".
The men in teams are referred to as "dogs" and the female team members are referred to as "birds".
'Ghosts', whether birds or dogs, are children without much history to their names. They are priceless to the Academy.
The Academy's system works on a series of favor and financial debt. Everyone in the Academy starts out with financial debt. It's the value of the education an Academy student requires to become the best at what he does. If it was a private investigation training class or an eight-week boot camp, or you were starving and needed groceries to get through a human biology class, the Academy took care of it. Your debt can't just be paid off directly, it requires completing various Academy missions. Whatever it is, there is a price tag.
Favors though are the real core of the Academy. Favors are anything that doesn't have a price - usually family problems within the Academy that other members can't handle alone. New members owe ten favors immediately, with the maximum owed being thirty. The value of a task in favors varies depending on the task.
All Academy trials are comprised of the same parties: the whole team, plus five randomly selected members from other teams, presided over by a manager who has collected all the data. There is no age minimum for the randomly selected members, the only requirement is that they had to be past initiation and a full member of the Academy. The ultimate goal at a trial is to keep the family together as much as possible.
Each team has two leads. The first is the main contact for the Academy, they track the jobs the members go on, and let them know what jobs are available. The second is the family lead, who keeps track of all the team members, and makes sure that everything runs smoothly for them - ensuring they have food, bills are paid on time, and everyone that needs a job has one.
Most of this information is from the academy wiki site ( 'cause it's fuckin' complicated to explain it all )
but I want you all to be able to understand it enough to enjoy the story without being confused!
Most of the time, I'll explain through River and my other characters.
I hope this makes sense!
River won't be very involved in the academy, but there will be mentions and most of River's story revolves around, not only Jungkook and Moon, but River's brothers, friends, and family!
Please let me know if there is anything that you'll misunderstand and I'll explain to the best of my ability!
✨ HAPPY READING ✨

fantasy sometimes doesn't afford itself the ability to fantasize about a better world with many of the same problems of real life. thankfully ive found fantasy thatfantasize about things like gender roles, orientations, social status, etc. being more accepting, and the world kinder more often than not. question is, as hard as it is to find solid urban fantasy, are there anyworks you know of that use itself to imagine a optimal city for us urban nerds? magic public works, free dragon transit?
So there is a real problem in the fantasy and sci-fi genres that they often have a failure of revolutionary imagination, as I’ve termed it. We’re so used to not just the world as it is but also the public historical imagination of how change happens, that even in art that’s supposed to be about radically reimagining our world or new worlds, we often revert back to the familiar. (I find this tic particularly annoying in alternate history, which is supposed to be about imagining how the world could have evolved differently, but often reverts back to a retelling of (often bad) history with the numbers filed off.)
Tumblr media
(A sadly rare counter-example.)
You raise a fascinating question about the potential for urbanist fantasy. This is often quite rare in urban fantasy, because often out of a desire to maintain the verisimilitude of urban life, they default to a masquerade scenario which renders it impossible to explore the impact of magic on transit, housing, and other aspects of urbanism because the central conceit is that people with magic are trying to hide and thus have no impact on the mundane world.
However, it does crop up sometimes in Magitech settings, because their central conceit is all about how magic would function in place of science and lead to new ways of organizing societies, urban and otherwise. For a popular example, look at how Arcane examines the social impacts of Hextech and Shimmer. My personal favorite example of urbanist fantasy is the plane of Ravnica from Magic the Gathering.
Tumblr media
Ravnica is a ecumenopolis, a city-state that covers the whole planet. The city is governed by a guild council, each of whom are responsible for an aspect of the city’s physical and social infrastructure:
The Azorius Senate is responsible for running the courts and the legal system, and sometimes they run the police as well (although they have a jurisdictional dispute with the Boros Legion on that front).
House Dimir are couriers, messengers, journalists, private investigators, spies, assassins, thieves, and librarians, as well as the city’s clandestine intelligence service - if it deals with information in any way, the Dimir have a hand in it…or do they?
The Cult of Rakdos run the city’s entertainment, food service, retail, and labor recruitment (lots of shanghaing and press ganging goes on in Ravnica) - and they’re also a crazed juggalo bdsm blood cult who are responsible for keeping an ancient arch-demon entertained so he doesn’t try to destroy the city, again.
The Gruul Clans are an anarchist collective responsible for the planet’s wilderness areas, which they try to maximize by violent raids that tear down developed areas any chance they get - which also makes them Ravnica’s main demolition industry. The Boros Legion spends a lot of time defending built-up areas from Gruul rampages.
The Selesnya Conclave are a hippie nature cult commune who manage the city’s parks and other green spaces, as well as providing basic welfare services (food, “shelter,” clothing, etc.) to the city’s poor. They also use magic to do weird hivemind brainwashing in the name of harmony and unity, and they can raise giant Ent-Kaiju to defend the city in times of need.
The Orzhov Syndicate are a vampire banker mafia, and also one of the city’s biggest religions. They believe in debt on a spiritual level, and their religion fully embraces indulgences to their logical conclusion. The Orzhov preach that you can literally buy your way into heaven, and that debts to the (Catholic by way of Prosperity Gospel Evangelical) Church or its many front organizations and legitimate businesses will carry over into the next life; the Orzhov practice debt slavery on both living people and ghosts. And lest you think it’s all a cover for profit-making, they can summon dark angels to conduct rituals, lead services, and make war on their enemies. Something above is answering their prayers…
My personal favorite is the Izzet League, an institute of mad scientists and engineers and elementalist wizards who combine science and magic to research, build, and maintain the city’s infrastructure (as well as funding all tech R&D and theoretical and experimental research in physics, chemistry, and engineering) - the power grid, water and sewer systems, heating and gas lines, as well as the city’s mass transit and transportation/freight system, are all powered by their steam and fire and lightning and Magitech gadgets and robots and cyborgs made out of a magic metal named mizzium. Yes, a lot of their devices explode, and yes their golems and robots and elementals have a tendency to go rogue, but that’s the price of progress!
The Golgari Swarm are a subterranean necromantic cabal who run the city’s waste disposal, burial services, and do the bulk of the agricultural production for Ravnica’s hungry masses. All of Ravnica’s citizens are entitled to a food dole provided by the Golgari’s fungi farms as a form of basic income. Just don’t think too hard about what went into the compost heaps or what your rations might be made of…
The Boros Legion is Ravnica’s main police and military, led by a literal host of warrior angels. Imagine the combination of a police force entirely made up of noir detectives and loose cannon Dirty Harry-esque cops and an army with flying fortresses led by fiery angels who are all deeply dramatic lesbians. True believers one and all, the Boros are here to mete out justice and divine wroth upon evildoers wherever they hide. If they had their way, the Orzhov would all be in prison along with the Gruul and the Rakdos, but the damn bureaucrats in the Azorius Senate keep trying them up in knots with paperwork.
The Simic Combine are responsible for the city’s environmental quality, ensuring biodiversity and sustainability in a global metropolis; they are also the city’s universal health care providers. All Ravnicans have access to free health care, as long as they consent to the Combine’s biomantic research. See, the Simic are the other group of mad scientists/mages in the city, except they went into genetics, environmental science, and (marine) biology and they believe in individual and societal evolution through the use of augmentation, cloning, and splicing. After all, why stop at curing someone’s respiratory illness when you could also give them gills? Or giant crab claws? Or tentacles?
I love the world-building and the attention to urban systems and infrastructure in Ravnica. More than most, they’ve thought about what urban life needs to function and made it magical.

It's common for businesses like yours to encounter manual errors and delays in managing their accounts receivables, which they believe to be inevitable. By requiring employees to perform manual tasks, they spend more time on basic tasks and less time on adding value to the organization. This reduces productivity automatically.
Yes, manual accounts receivable processes are prone to mistakes and delays, which may be detrimental to a company's bottom line.
But who says it's unavoidable? It can be avoided and prevented from occurring. Let's take a look at how.
Some common errors and delays in the Accounts Receivable Process
1. Manual Data entry:
The traditional accounts receivable process, which is done using spreadsheets, is always comfortable for most individuals. Manual data entry is prone to errors and delays, which may be both time and money-consuming.
Poor cash flow maintenance.
Poor record maintenance and management.
Follow-ups were delayed and irregular.
You may think that these are standard errors that all organizations make while manually processing and monitoring accounts receivable.
Yes, however, most people are unwilling to modify their accounts receivable process to boost cash flow and productivity.
For example;
If a business owner submits a wrong invoice or payment amount by accident, they may not recognize the error until it is too late.
2. Misplaced or lost invoices:
An invoice is a sort of bill that is given to the customer asking for payment for services or products provided on credit. A decent invoice should be formal, professional, and, most importantly, in a suitable tone.
Not Sending Your Invoice Instantly.
Fail to provide a payment deadline.
The invoice was delivered to the wrong person.
Services are not listed.
Your invoice is lacking in politeness.
Terms are not being stated.
There was no follow-up.
These are some of the common mistakes and errors that wreak havoc on invoices and the responses they trigger.
Invoices are widely ignored or misplaced when handled manually. This may result in payment delays since the business owner may be unable to locate the invoice when it is needed.
3. Inaccurate record-keeping:
Keeping track of your customers and payments manually may be time-consuming and error-prone. This can result in erroneous records that are difficult to update and may even lead to customer disputes.
Inaccurate record-keeping is the practice of failing to maintain the records properly. This can be purposeful or accidental, and the consequences for individuals, organizations and even nations can be severe.
lack of training,
lack of attention to detail,
lack of correct protocols
These are all major causes of faulty record-keeping. Incomplete or erroneous records can lead to lost or wrong information, misunderstandings, and a lack of responsibility.
To prevent these issues and guarantee that their records are dependable and trustworthy, you must prioritize proper record-keeping.
4. Lack of visibility:
Accounts receivable visibility refers to a scenario in which an organization does not have a clear or complete view of the money owed to them by their customers.
This can be caused by a variety of circumstances such as
including insufficient record-keeping,
poor customer communication,
lack of appropriate systems and processes for tracking and managing accounts receivable.
a lack of visibility over your accounts receivable can make it difficult to
manage your cash flow,
plan for the future,
ensure that you get paid on time.
It can also lead to misunderstandings and disagreements with your customers, as well as financial losses for your organization.
5. Slow payment processing:
Slow payment processing in accounts receivable entails a situation in which a business or organization takes a substantial amount of time to handle payments owing to them by their customers.
This can occur for several reasons, including
a lack of effective systems and processes for managing accounts receivable,
insufficient employees or resources,
a significant volume of payments that must be handled.
slow payment processing can be a big concern for your business, causing
cash flow problems,
challenges controlling and projecting income,
even disagreements and lost customers.
To minimize sluggish payment processing, make sure you have adequate systems and processes in place for handling your accounts receivable, as well as enough employees and resources to manage the number of payments you receive.
How to eliminate Manual Errors and Delays?
An accounts receivable automation software can help you eliminate manual errors and delays in your accounts receivable process. Many of the tasks associated with managing your accounts receivable, such as
issuing invoices,
monitoring payments,
reconciling accounts,
are automated by this software.
The software can help reduce the probability of errors and improve the accuracy and efficiency of the accounts receivable process by automating these tasks.
Implementing data validation checks is one method that accounts receivable automation software can help avoid manual errors. These checks can help to ensure that the information being entered into the system is proper and full, lowering the possibility of mistakes like transposed digits or wrong customer information.
Additionally, accounts receivable management software can help eliminate manual delays by automating tasks such as invoice generation and payment tracking. This can speed up the accounts receivable process and reduce the time it takes to process payments, leading to faster turnaround times and improved customer satisfaction.
Overall, using accounts receivable software can help you in improving the accuracy and efficiency of your accounts receivable process, reduce the risk of errors and delays, and improve your financial health.

When Tax Collector was a profession in Dwarf Fortress
Today, if you dig secure lodgings your dwarves will live in an anarcho-communist society. Sure, you have nominal nobles such as Mayors, Barons and Monarchs, but all the dwarves have access to Fortress resources. However...
Long ago in the yesterday of 2007, nearly a year ago the first Alpha release of Dwarf Fortress has been uploaded to the Bay12 games website. No z-levels, no Artifacts and cats could adopt visitors to your fortress. And when you had appointed a bookkeeper and manager, the dynamic of dwarves would suddenly change...
Your fortress would suddenly go from to anarcho-communist to Capitalist. Dwarves would suddenly gain an account balance on their unit screen and hoard coins in their bedrooms, a new price menu would appear and shop would be available to build. In addition,
Dwarves would be paid salaries for producing goods (receiving a starting sum of ☼200 when the economy was activated.)
Dwarves would pay rent for rooms with higher quality rooms costing more.
The bookkeeper would demand the production of coins.
Nobles would change prices
Legendary noble dwarves didn't need to pay rent
Dwarves would be taxed from their belongings randomly
This neat little arrangement simulated a miniature economy. Dwarves who owned quality goods and better bedrooms would be happier, while dwarves who failed to do so...
she has been evicted lately (mood -10)
Tumblr media
Further, developments led to the economy being unlocked on the arrival of a Baron, Count or Duke.
Dwarves paid for rent and food. Dwarves strapped for cash bought poor-quality food and would go into debt to not starve.
Coin moving would take precious work time from dwarves as they carried out transactions and collected their salaries
More features only increased the chaos. It was found that producing coins would actually make the citizens finances worse as the time wasted performing transactions, led to increased debt and inevitably mass homelessness. And when I say nobles changed prices, if you thought mandates were annoying then:
Tumblr media
Dwarf Fortress's ever-ingenious players thus found themselves devising exploits strategies for preventing a tantrum spiral revolution kicking off whenever the aristocratic parasites barons arrived. These included intensive pumping regimes to quickly boost dwarves' skills to legendary and stockpile hauling cycles to provide easy and consistent employment.
The economy was disabled in 2010, but Toady One (Tarn Adams) has stated that he plans to reintroduce the economy in the future. Due to the unpopularity of its original implementation, it will not be without drastic changes. To this day players discuss possible models. I hope to see the dwarven economy again; imagine a tax collector doing the rounds every week. It would be nice if the value system was ironed out though.

The chill of Belobog is surprisingly absent in it's underground city. Some remains of frost echo into the mines but ultimately, within the place the locals call of the Underworld it's warm enough that Aventurine finds it fitting to take his jacket off. He's being casual, or at least as casual as one can be when on the verge of confronting a headache.
Before him sits a blue haired man with green downturn eyes who betray mischief and a dopey smile of innocence. If Aventurine wasn't already vaguely familiar with the type of character he's dealing with, Sampo Koski would be painting the perfect picture of an eager business man.
In fact that's how he managed to lure the man in. A vague interest in old relics and promises of great deals are good enough to entice any normal vendor. In this case, Aventurine knows that his title also plays a part. After Topaz failed attempt at properly collecting Jarilo's debt, the IPC was branded as enemy and whatever mutual trust was deeply broken.
Aventurine had come here on a mission. It wasn't anything too grand, just a better collection of the actual assets of the planet and a formal report on the current situation. The perfect excuse to plant some moles in the crowd to have proper eyes on the true face of Jarilo-VI.
However his little mission is currently proving to be more of a hassle than he initially intended. And the man before him was the sole reason for it.
Granted he could still work around the challenge, Aventurine's not one to let his plans fail for naught. However, facing the problem head on could prove to have it's benefits when it comes to a wild card such as a criminal.
"I must say, it's rather amusing to have a wanted man try to sell me fake relics." His smile is saccharine, not reaching his eyes. "Imagine what the people would do if they knew that all it took to pay part of the debt was just to hand over their dear friend."
He had asked beforehand on Sampo, the man who disappears without a trace in the snow whenever trouble comes to find him. After a quick research in the system he gathered enough material to at least pressure the man to a stop.
"Don't worry my friend. You have nothing to fear yet, in fact, I have an offer you can't refuse." Topaz has often called his style of negotiation ruthless. But that's why she ended up demoted a rank while he sits here with a cheap beer in his hand fixing the mess she left behind.
"But first..."
The tavern was the perfect place for this. The territory might be familiar to the con man, but Aventurine is the one keeping him cornered in one of the back tables away from prying eyes. After all, they are discussing important business that cannot be heard by anyone, the privacy is appreciated.

hi, idk if you answered this before, but how did you manage to become self-employed by 24? also any career building tips in general?
Hi love! Well, I'm nearly 25 now (Leo baby here, lol) and have been self-employed since around 21/22 full-time. I would say the main factors at play are a combination of starting my career as early as possible (first real internship in the fashion industry at almost 16 and starting freelancing at around 19), earning a full scholarship to a top private university, and freelancing throughout college allowed me to have a lot of time and freedom to work on my skills, build my networks/portfolio, etc. (I'm not going to discount all of the privileges and resources I've had working in my favor, including the ability to begin my postgrad life with zero debts, that would be disingenuous, for certain).
In terms of career advice, I would say here are some of my most important tips:
Figure out where your skills and passions align. Then determine the lifestyle/work culture you thrive in and what sacrifices you're willing to make in your chosen career path (for some, it's always traveling/talking to people 24/7, working late hours, unpredictable/unconventional hours, potentially lower pay/less predictable income, etc.). It truly depends on your top values, your personality, and your goals/priorities in life.
First focus on getting incredibly talented at your craft. Find a mentor(s) who will push you with their feedback/suggestions. Take classes/skills courses/read books & articles to gain more applicable knowledge/hard skills. Join clubs, apply to internships, volunteer, and request informational interviews in your desired field.
Make your skills marketable. Create a professional resume and/or neat portfolio/collection of work samples. Discover and articulate your USP (that should essentially serve as the backbone of your elevator pitch). Frame your skills through a customer/business-centric lens. How does your experience/skillset solve their problems and help a company/client achieve their goals?
Build a network for yourself. Don't be shy to reach out to companies/individuals who inspire you. Speak with your secondary school teachers and professors for connections. Create peer-to-peer networks, too, so you can grow together. Be a fearless networker and connector. Help others, do favors, and make the person glad they met/hired you. Make it your objective to be memorable through your work ethic/providing high-quality work products and showing up with a motivated & overall positive attitude allows people to like and trust you with their time, clients, money, etc.
Master the art of a killer email/cold pitch. Especially in today's world, learning how to sell yourself through intriguing emails/LinkedIn messages is the key to unlocking potential success. One client or opportunity can create momentum that will be useful years down the line, too.
When in doubt, follow up – on an email, pitch, job opportunity, connection, etc.
Be ruthless and relentless with your research. For new contacts, connections, opportunities, and information to support your pitches/job interviews/networking conversations, new technologies, and trends within your field. Read everything credible you can get your hands on. Display working knowledge and practical applications of these concepts and how they can benefit the person in front of you/their business.
Create systems. For how you structure emails/pitches, conduct research, different types of workflows/ work template structures for different types of projects, time-blocking, client funnels, etc.
Get comfortable with rejection. Use it as a primer for self-reflection and refining your craft/processes or help you pivot your approach to help you achieve your goals. Never take business decisions on behalf of a company personally (and vice versa).
Give yourself breaks, but don't give up. Tapping out for good is the only surefire way to fail at an endeavor. Be flexible in your path, but zeroed in on your goal(s). Learn when to quit or pivot, and when it's time to coast or seek growth.
Hope this helps xx

Max's and Brooke's drone date
Max: Now that you've entrusted me with your drone's remote, do you mind me asking you for a little bit of personal advice?
Brooke: Not at all, Max. Go ahead!
Max: How do you attract someone? What I mean is ... Suppose you set your heart on somebody. What would you do to get them?
Brooke: Grab them! And take them!
Max: You grab them and take them?
Brooke: Take them! Like that.
Max: So ... You mean to say that I should wait until after they tell me that they wouldn't refuse if I offered to bang them, that I make them feel like they have a reason to stay in a place they've been dreaming of escaping from for years and that nobody is good enough for me except for them. And after they ask me to kiss them, proclaim to everyone they are going to be my date for today's party and quarter-jokingly propose to me, right? Only then I should grab them and take them?
Brooke: Perhaps I haven't been clear enough. Max, waiting for good things to come your way is the opposite of grabbing and taking. Now, let me give you an example. Imagine Chloe is ...
Max: [blushes red as a hibiscus flower]
Brooke: I mean, imagine a completely hypothetical person of unspecified name and gender who hasn't had a particularly easy life so far finds themself in a difficult spot. Even though they want nothing more than to be with you, they start to push you away, because that's the only thing they know when it comes to relationships - being left behind. If that happens, you should tell them they are your number one priority now, the only thing that matters to you. You grab onto them and not let go of them, no matter what. And then you take them someplace where the past has no hold over you both.
Max: That was ... helpful. I'll keep all of that in mind. Not that I doubted it before, but you really are smart, Brooke.
Brooke: Max, I'm a straight-As student. I'm not bragging, that's just stating the fact. If you are able to comprehend chemistry and physics, you can understand human beings very easily. When you think about it, every single thing happening in your mind, every thought and emotion, including love, is a result of chemical reactions and physical processes taking place in your nervous system.
Max: I'm ... not sure if what you just said is reassuring or depressing. Anyways, how do you know so much about Chloe ... Sorry, the hypothetical person I asked about?
Brooke: It may be difficult to believe now, but freshman and sophomore years Chloe was top of the class in chemistry. We would compare notes ... and sometimes smoke joints. Studying and school in general can be so stressful. That's how I used to unwind. And Chloe had much more to unwind from, with her father's death, and all that stuff going on at home ... You know, at one point I owed that creep Frank Bowers a hundred dollars for weed. He put me down in his notebook. He was pretty aggressive in collecting. I lied to my parents that I needed extra money for school supplies and I managed to quickly pay him off before he could balloon that sum into the thousands with outrageous "interest", like criminals always do. I know Chloe owed him too. But I couldn't help her. What I got from my parents was barely enough to cover my debt. And then we drifted apart. I hope he's not still bothering her.
Max: He is. It's really bad. But she has a partner now. I won't let anyone hurt her ever again.
Brooke: See, Max? You're a natural at this "grabbing and taking" thing.
--------------------------------------
This started out as my attempt at "incorrect quotes", with the joke being that Brooke is equally as determined in pursuing love as Grace Jones's character in "Conan the Destroyer". But then it grew into a short story.

Heey! Loved the Poly! Hades and Hook x Reader, but I can request some Poly! Hades and Facilier x reader or Poly Hook and Facilier x reader ((you can choose which one you like don't worry, I love the three of them)) thanks!!
Heyo! Facilier isn't on my list of characters but honestly I am LIVING for the idea of Poly Hades, Facilier and Reader, so we're going to town on this!
Poly!Hades & Dr. Facilier x Reader:
So I'm just going to open with this: time is weird and the afterlife dimensions sometimes overlap.
So yes, it's entirely possible that a 20th Century soul gets yeeted into the ancient greek Underworld, though the Jury is out on whether that was a genuine accident vs the Loa's idea of creative punishment or they simply ran out of patience for the guy after he died and they collected his debt.
Either way, Facilier ended up in the Styx, and coincidentally fucked up Hades' entire organisation system.
I'm going to headcannon that you as the Reader in this case actually works for Hades - at least initially - but on a way more lenient lease than Meg ever was. More like an employee than a soul-bound slave.
So you're the one who fished one poor unfortunate Doctor out of the river and plonked him, shivering and wide eyed, in Hades' throne room. Pain and Panic were out attempting to catch his shadow with a torch and a net, which you left them to.
Hades is slouched on his throne, boiling mad yet attempting to play it cool, as he attempts to parse where the fuck Facilier came from and where to send him. And in panic, with no powers and at the mercy of a strange god, Facilier falls back on his greatest talent: talking.
You notice Hades' eyebrows uptick as soon as Facilier opens his mouth. One smooth-talker instantly clocking another, and you allow yourself to smile slightly as Facilier lays out his case and the Lord of the Dead's posture goes from irate-overworked-desk-bound-administrator to the sort of relaxed yet focused lounging that lions adopt when starting to get hungry.
Eventually, you suggest that - while a fitting location is thought up for the Doctor - he could stick around the main palace for a while. You'd keep an eye on him.
Hades eyes smolder as you put a hand on the shade's shoulder. Your own relationship is already Polyamourous as he's married to Persephone, so ground rules for a new partner of interest have been agreed between you all for a while. Facilier cathces onto a hidden meaning in your looks, but wisely decides to keep his head down for the minute and see how this goes.
It barely takes a week before you two are flirting.
It barely takes a month for Hades to join in.
It barely takes a year for Facilier to once again be among the living his shadow has free reign in the Underworld he's met Persephone and charmed the socks off her enough that he gets to join your previously exclusive girls-nights (RIP Hades) and you have no idea how you've managed to land Both of these men but you sure as hell aren't complaining-
Reader you're in voice kink heaven ok for god's sake batten down the hatches these two sound sexy just reading the admissions paperwork and they know it. The teasing is a nightmare.
Shadow sometimes feels everything is getting a bit too chummy and will initiate prank wars to sabotage any dating activity going on in the immediate vicinity. He has bets going with Pain and Panic.
Facilier is an extremely thoughtful partner. More than once he's appeared to help with your work, with dinner and a gift that he remembered you offhandedly mentioned last week. More than once you've found him subtly helping Hades get breaks from the eternal grind that is Underworld maintenance, initiating affection and cuddles that you've realised Hades needs way more than he asks for.
The bed has been expanded and group sleeping piles are forever.
Honestly, Reader, you've landed in an actual gem of a relationship.
It's just that every few decades they both attempt to usurp the cosmic powers that be and it becomes your job to unpeel them from the stonework where the other gods smote them into non-existence. C'est la Vie.

— this is for the readers who aren’t familiar with the academy! Most of my BTS ff’s are academy crossover but you only need to a few key things. Down below, I’m giving you a little bit of a rundown. You may not need to know everything to understand my books; but I feel better having this up for you all the read. I’ll be putting this post in my masterlist so you all go back to it anytime you need to.
— academy info ;
I know I'm gaining more readers, those who aren't familiar with the academy, so I'll do a short explanation of what you'll be seeing from the academy!
In short, the academy series is a reverse harem/polyamory series set in Charleston, South Carolina.
( so you'll be seeing multiple men date the same women in this book, so don't be shocked lmfaoo )
The academy ( that MFC won't be much involved in ) is basically a top secret organization that specializes in helping men, women, and children who are in an abusive relationship or homes and help them get out of that — most join the academy to help others in the same situations.
Most of this information is from the academy wiki site ( 'cause it's fuckin' complicated to explain it all )
Note that some of my works are in the academy universe, but won’t have much to do with it ( like limitless, moon struck, nepenthe, masochist, grey, trials of Athena, etc. )
Thank you all for reading ❤️✨
