i spent some time at this psych hospital in my teen years, it was super surreal coming back years later. this place was almost like a second home for a while. a lot of memories and friends were made at the units i was admitted to. i’ve long lost contact with most of them. i hope all those ppl are okay now, and are healing from their traumas 🫶🏼

Guess where I was this morning!!!

My favourite patients are sweet elderly people and curious, playful kids. They're both direct, no-nonsense, and a delight to work with.

The funniest patients, who can be hard for me to get the story straight due to their excessive pranks and joking, are the teenage boys who are accompanied by a friend or two who's always dunking on them. xD;;; Like, giving me fake allergies I take seriously for a second before the patient negates whatever his bro claimed he had or the friends who try to goad me into giving their buddy a bunch of unnecessary injections or other forms of malpractice ("Doctor, you're gonna give him an IV? When you give him the IV, put some poison in it!" "He wants to kill me!" -- [translated] quotes from a recent pair of jokesters. xD;;;; )

I also got a very sweet teenaged girl whose chronic fatigue and muscle weakness wasn't taken seriously by many doctors because she's too young for most heart diseases and too old for a congenital one,it seemed like no one asked about strep throat and she often had untreated tonsillitis at the staggering rate of once every month, so, based on history and signs, likely developed rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease as sequelae.

She was so impressed, she asked me about medical school and is now interested in becoming a doctor. ;3;

Oh, btw, if anybody is curious.

A few weeks ago I did an assessment which was supposed to be for ADHD but the guy specializes in diagnostics of all forms of neurodivergence and wanted to be thorough. Anyway, he said he is “at least 95% certain” (lmao I love how he uses confidence intervals) that not only do I have ADHD, I am also autistic!

Show of hands for everybody surprised! Nobody? Yeah I wasn’t either.

Anyway I will now officially claim neurodivergence. Anybody who disagrees doesn’t know me.
