Oh… that animation project for Lackadaisy’s bearing fruit via a pilot?
Oof. I…might stay away. Kidding, I took a peek at it because curiosity does get the Cat, and…hmngh. No, I’ve never necessarily imagined precise voices for these characters, but that’s because I can’t imagine any voice fitting them. That snatch of Zib—no, that’s not him, surely. That I’ve felt similarly about the snatches I’ve heard of everyone else means the problem is with me, not them.
(Especially since I had the same reaction to hearing that an animated adaptation of Bones was in the works. )
I guess—it boils down to—an attitude that “no adaptation of Lackadaisy can really do it justice.”
This is, I must emphasize, untrue. Tracy Butler has been closely following + giving input for this animated passion project for months (surely over a year; there’s been more posts about it than comic updates—not complaining, because the comic is so richly detailed). The comics are so detailed, and the staging so fine; that one instinctively wonder if the blanks are worth rolling in.
(Yes, they can, I might emphasize; there is an appeal to watching an interpretation of how each character moves, moreso with a cast with such distinct characters as is Lackadaisy’s.)
If nothing else, the pilot release was a timely reminder for me to check for new Lackadaisy updates. None since 2020 (wait, was it really 2020 when Epithet was released? Thought it was sooner)?
Pah. I’ve waited far longer for new content in other circumstances. Shall simply be happy if and when a new update comes.
(If everything else, I’d be so remiss not to celebrate that this passion project actually did come to fruition? Congratulations to all the animators and storyboardists and in-betweeners and so on.)
Oh, wow, the pilot has six million views? I’m absolved. Congrats on its success.

more thoughts on greg that i’m only putting in tags bc it feels wrong to just make a post
#my relationship to fandom’s greg is. complex#on one hand it’s nice to see myself in a character and be able to find a bunch of stuff about said character being gay#but 1. that’s not my truest perception of the actual character and 2. it’s so much tomgreg#tom and greg as an entity is a concept with deeply interesting character possibilities. but tom and greg as a relationship is so artificial#*romantic/sexual relationship. obviously they have a relationship that is very character-driven#even stuff where they’re weird exes years down the line relies on the assumption that they did date each other#which is like. the way i see it tom’s Thing ab greg is not greg’s problem and he will continue to attempt to emulate stasis#emulate because obviously he’s making huge changes in his life for financial benefit. but his own ambition is relatively small (vs tom’s)#also when i say greg is autistic i feel like i need to clarify i’m not saying like Fandom Autism if that makes sense#he is not a soft little bean he is all of my worst traits almalgamated and some of those are from my being autistic#tbh most of the characters i relate to are not for their good qualities. i understand them but i don’t want it#the way i view greg is somewhat similar to how i view amy dunne if that make sense?#like i feel like i know them. i get why they do what they do and i see parts of myself that i don’t like#but at the end of the day i’m not going to frame anyone for murder or sue greenpeace. and i don’t condone those things.#this is incoherent this is why it’s tags and not a post. tags are the place for incoherence#actually amy dunne is not as apt for comparison as louis ironson. that’s the ticket

🚨 Students at Harvard University launched an encampment in support of Gaza in Harvard Yard moments ago, calling for an end to Harvard's moral and material complicity in the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
Harvard has invested over $200 million of its over $51 billion endowment in companies with ties to zionist settlements in the West Bank, while most of its investments to the zionist entity are kept secret.
The students are demanding financial transparency regarding investments related to the zionist entity, as well as genocide and occupation in Palestine; divestment from these investments and reinvestment in Palestine; and dropping all charges against student activists.
The University has suppressed student voices in support of Palestine time and time again, suspending the Palestine Solidarity Committee just this week on baseless grounds. They have also enabled attacks on pro-Palestinian students from the media and politicians. Today, the students say enough is enough, and that they will no longer tolerate their institution's support for genocide.
This brings the number of ongoing encampments to 19, with more to come.

What's new(ish) in the settler-colonial state of the US is that a series of bills have been passed in the House (the Baby Senate as I like to say) and are on their way to the Senate that make it harder to voice support for Palestinians while also making sure your direct taxes aid the genocide in Gaza.
These bills affirm the US's stance on the settler-colonial Zionist Entity and the implicit ties that the government has with Israel and really — just goes to show you how Israel is just one big base for American Imperialism.
Anyways, there's still time to call your senate and tell them that you don't want these bills that only further spiral the US into fascism so even if you think it might not do much — it's important that we document our dissent in official sources. And while you're at it — call your congressperson and tell them that if they voted for this you're not voting for them next election. If they voted against the bills, still call your congresspeople and tell them you support their decision to vote against these bills.
Here are the bills:
📍Resolution: HR 6126
Resolution Name: Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act Description: Gives $14.3 Billion To Israel From The IRS (Taxes You Pay). Like straight up. Just takes it from an IRS project, which used our tax dollars to begin with, to give to Israel "defense." Link to check summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr6126
📍Resolution: HR 798
Resolution Name: "Condemning the support of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education, which may lead to the creation of a hostile environment for Jewish students, faculty, and staff." Description: Will Penalize Students On American College Campuses For Supporting Palestine. This includes "Free Palestine" Protests as according to Rep Owens who introduced the bill (Click). Link to check who voted: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/118-2023/h578
📍Resolution: HR 3266
Resolution Name: "Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act" Description: They will be examining Palestinian education materials to see if it promotes "hate" or "violence" (aka are they teaching their children to become murderers??). Will inevitably require Revision Of Text Books In Palestinian Schools To Portray The Occupation In A Positive Light. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr3266
📍Resolution: HR 340
Resolution Name: "The Hamas International Financing Prevent Action" Description: Claims to stop financial support for "terrorist" organizations but considering that Gaza's government is run by Hamas, then this would mean Gaza will receive absolutely no aid and donating to people in Gaza could get you in legal trouble. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr340
There's a button for most of these bills that allows you to contact your representative directly. Please do take the time to contact them — while many of this isn't especially new to Palestinians, the difference is now that we have a larger power in numbers than we did in the past. Please make sure to advocate for you Palestinian comrades in the US whenever possible! Help us Free Palestine one step at a time!

2023: The Past, Present and Future of Chinese Economics

Bridging the Financing Gap: Unleashing the Potential of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs).
Under this session, two panels will be convened to discuss how to increase SMEs' access to finance in order to unlock their full potential. Panelists include regulators, industry associations, financiers, multinationals, SMEs and technology platform representatives. The objective of the session is to highlight proposed actions that can be taken to unlock the potential of SMEs and strengthen their ability to contribute to the implementation of the SDGs.
Lead Facilitators:
UNCTAD
International Trade Centre (ITC)
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make a significant contribution to global trade flows and economic value within countries. SMEs account for over 90 per cent of all business worldwide and are responsible for more than two-thirds of jobs created, including for vulnerable groups such as women and youth. They are the SDG drivers on the ground as they deal with local and regional challenges and are key in promoting innovation and contributing to the greening of industries and the energy transition. Yet access to affordable and timely financing and participation in value chains at global, regional, and domestic level remain a key challenge, hampering their economic and social contribution.
The outcome of the discussions will be fed into major international events and the Report of the UN Secretary-General on Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development.
---
To maximize the SDG Summit's impact, the Secretary General is convening an SDG Action Weekend, which will generate opportunities for stakeholders, United Nations entities, and Member States to convene inside the United Nations Headquarters and set out specific commitments and contributions to drive SDG transformation between now and 2030.
The SDG Action Weekend will consist of the SDG Mobilization Day on Saturday, 16 September, and the SDG Acceleration Day on Sunday, 17 September at UNHQ in New York.
The SDG Mobilization Day (16 September) will create an opportunity for stakeholders from all sectors to convene inside the United Nations Headquarters and mobilize towards an ambitious SDG Summit and UN General Assembly High-Level Week.
The SDG Acceleration Day (17 September) will be centred around the UN High-Impact Initiatives
The SDG Summit on 18-19 September will mark the mid point of the SDGs. It must secure the breakthroughs and momentum needed to change course and achieve the SDGs by 2030. To maximize the Summit's impact, the Secretary General is convening an SDG Action Weekend, which will generate opportunities for stakeholders, UN entities, and Member States to convene inside the United Nations Headquarters and set out specific commitments and contributions to drive SDG transformation between now and 2030.

Calima Energy Limited, an Australian oil and gas exploration and production company, is committed to responsible development and the maximization of shareholder value. Under the astute leadership of Chairman Glen Whiddon, the company is strategically focused on optimizing asset valuation and achieving operational efficiencies. This article delves into the insights of Calima Energy Limited, sheds light on Glen Whiddon's extensive experience, and explores the company's plans to enhance its position in the energy sector.
Glen Whiddon: A Seasoned Professional in Investment Management
As the Principal and Founder of Lagral, a family company specializing in investment management activities, Glen Whiddon brings a wealth of experience to his role as Chairman of Calima Energy Limited. With his diverse background in executive leadership roles and expertise in the mining, energy, and property sectors, Whiddon is at the forefront of driving Calima Energy towards maximizing shareholder value.
Maximizing Shareholder Value: Distributions and Share Buy-Back
Calima Energy Limited is committed to delivering value to its shareholders. The company plans to execute its second distribution of AUD 3 million to shareholders, with the aim of increasing the frequency of distributions in the future, subject to market conditions and commodity prices. Furthermore, Calima Energy may restart a share buy-back program, prioritizing continuous delivery of distributions to supportive shareholders.
Optimizing Drilling and Operational Expenses
In the face of increased capital and operating costs, Calima Energy Limited has devised plans to optimize drilling and operational expenses. By strategically reducing activity during the Canadian winter and standardizing operations, the company aims to improve efficiencies and achieve greater returns on investment in future drilling programs. These measures are part of the broader strategy to enhance asset valuation and drive sustainable growth.
Investor Outlook and Financial Performance
Based on the positive response received, Calima Energy anticipates potential inquiries and proposals from external parties regarding the acquisition or utilization of its assets. The company's forecasted Q2 production remains on track, with an average of around 4,125 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/D). Furthermore, Calima Energy expects to generate approximately AUD 7.5 million in free cash flow for the quarter. With a current share price of AUD 0.094 per share, a 52-week range of AUD 0.093 – AUD 0.175, and a market capitalization of AUD 57.6 million, Calima Energy is poised for success.
Calima Energy: Positioned for Success in Western Canada
Calima Energy Limited is a prominent player in Western Canada's energy sector. The company generates stable production from its Thorsby and Brooks assets, primarily focusing on conventional oil and gas. With a low decline rate of approximately 65%, Calima Energy ensures consistent performance. Moreover, the company holds over 34,000 acres of Montney rights in the "liquids-rich" fairway, positioning itself to capitalize on the potential of the Montney formation and leverage the growing demand for liquid-rich natural gas in both domestic and global markets.
Conclusion
Led by Chairman Glen Whiddon, Calima Energy Limited is dedicated to maximizing shareholder value through responsible oil and gas exploration and production activities. With a strong emphasis on optimizing asset valuation, managing operational expenses, and exploring potential asset sales, the company aims to achieve sustained growth and create value for its stakeholders. As investors consider their options, it is crucial to conduct thorough research and seek advice from financial advisors before making investment decisions.

Recently, the UK authorities have announced an update on plans for a successor to the Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE).
The OBIE was established in 2017 following an order by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), by the UNK’s nine leading banks to incorporate the open banking system.
With Open Banking thoroughly set up, the OBIE presently directed by the CMA will be progressed to a new entity in the upcoming year and this will be monitored by the new Joint Regulatory Oversight Committee, which was created earlier this year by the CMA along with HM Treasury, the Financial Conduct Authority and the Payment Systems Regulator.
The committee is presently dealing with fostering the vision for the future of Open Banking and the plan for the future entity. As per the committee, Open Banking ought to advance more prominent competition and innovation to help customers, companies and the wider economy.
