"Hey, can you move your Lantern Corp away from my Grave? Your blocking the view."
"What?" Hal said startled as he noticed a floating white hair teen with green eyes looking annoyed.
It would've be common event if it weren't for the fact that they in the middle of space near Mar.
"Could you please move the lantern Corp away from my grave, it's blocking the my view of the stars." The boy said pointing back at mars then back at Green lantern Corps.
"This is the second time this happen and I would like to just rest in peace."
The more Hal look at the floating boy, the more he realized how humaniod and alien like he began to look, the clear white hair with sparks of stars dust in it, the freckled covering his face look a splatter of dwarf stars, the toxic green eyes, and the odd looking clothes that look barely human like with the kind of reptile skulls on his shoulders.
Oh
OH
Oh..
"I'll tell them to move it from your view.." Hal said paling a bit as later on he went closer to Mars where that floating alien child has pointed then disappeared.
Only to see a makeshift grave made from unknown mineral in the red dirt that looked ancient and beyond dusty level that almost made him sneeze.
Hal move the dust away from the tombstone like made of extinct like mineral, with a name that took his lantern green 3 hours to translate which static and glitch.
"Danny phantom
Brother
Planet Savior
Hero
Clockwork's apprentice
Forever King of balance
May he sleep peacefully."

a ghosts graves
In the aftermath of a battle, Phantom, Batman, and Superman could be see talking between each other.
During a lull in the conversation a tiny girl comes running from underneath caution tape taped around the vicinity, holding a bouquet of marigolds between her small hands. She’s out of breath and seems to be embarrassed when she stands before the heroes, Batman reacts the quickest to the sudden encounter. Asking her about why shes here and what the problem is, he’s about to ask about her parents when she interrupts with “i have something for mister Phantom”.
Danny who had been only half listening was caught off guard, he looks at her and tries for a reassuring smile but his confusion must show through because she suddenly looks down shyly at her flowers.
“I heard from mommy that you put flowers on graves for people you like, ” she starts, “i don't know where yours is though, so i got you flowers to put it wherever it is”. She’s obviously embarrassed about interrupting, but she says the words with a form of determination. Suddenly what seems to be her mother comes running from out of the crowd.
“I am so, so, sorry for Miya, i didn't mean to loose sight of her, she slipped away, we’ll get out of your hair now. ” the woman says in a rush, gently tugging the child back from the slack jawed heroes. Danny can just make out her gently reprimanding the child for her behaviour when he suddenly steps forward. “Wait, wait, wait” he says quickly, crouching down to the child now hiding a bit behind the mother, “you got me flowers. . . so i can put them on my grave?” the tiny nod he gets from that has him smiling, “you wanted to put flowers on my grave?” is asked with excitement, gaining n even bigger nod in return.
He takes a small step forward, still crouched, and asks “are you alright with me hugging you?”, the nod lets him quickly move forward a spin the child around in a tight hug, laughing. He smiles brightly at the girl, holding her in his arms with enough space to make sure the flowers were safe, who is smiling back just as brightly. Danny laughs, “no ones ever given me flowers before! And you want them on my grave!” the actions have gained the attention of both civilians and other heroes, Danny could honestly care less though, someone wants to put flowers on his grave! Someone went through the effort of giving him flowers! He is so excited!
Both the mother, Superman, and Batman all look uncomfortable, “have you. . . never gotten. . ahem. . Flowers before?” Superman asks, “i mean, you look young so. . . have your parents never. . . ?”, the ending never gets finished but its definitely implied what he wants to really ask. Danny doesn't care, its not exactly important, right?
He looks at the heroes and says cheerily “i don't think my parents even know im dead!” before looking back at the child in his arms, not seeing all the shocked, pale faced staring( minus Batman, he never emotes, like, at all).
Eventually the kid has to leave due to dangerousness of the area, but not before a final hug and happy goodbye from Phantom after she hands the flowers to the undead hero. Danny says his goodbyes to the surrounding heroes, not understanding why they all look at him funny as he carries around the marigold bouquet before he flies off. He holds the flowers close to makes sure they dont get destroyed by the wind, but he cant help a few happy loops and twirls in his flight home.
The first ever flowers for his grave, how exciting!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ever since then the heroes and a few civilians make sure to give Phantom flowers each time they see him for his grave. Phantom is so excited people want to give him flowers each time a new set is given to him.

Summoning Your Secret Boyfriend Pt. 2
Previous AU Summary
This post is dedicated @fanfics-or-dragons who wrote part of the post. I will put their part in bold. I would suggest checking them out, they write some really interesting stuff.
Previously:
The con man opened his mouth, looking like he was losing his mind, before just shutting his mouth and contemplated how his life got to this point. He was just fine conning demons, detective work for the occult, and doing the occasional good deed, but no,  he just had to get involved with the League of Goody-Two-Shoes who have no idea how to handle the supernatural. He was getting flashbacks to the time he realized that the Bats had no idea that they had a city spirit watching over them (he refuses to be the one to explain that to them). Or having to deal with the Flashes saying that magic wasn’t real. He wasn’t paid enough for the shit the League puts him through.
Constantine was always happy that there wasn't a teen version of the JLD cause he didn't want to have to chase kids around a bunch of demons, monsters, and other badies he deals with daily.
He is only now realizing that because there wasn't a teen version of the JLD that the young Justice team also dealt with the supernatural world just without any adult supervision cause none of the JLD or JL knew that they were. It was like they were trying to send him to an early grave. He blames Bats, he was the one to drag him into this crazy fest. You help a guy with something supernatural once and then suddenly you are a consultant to his Do-Gooder Club for anything involving the supernatural.
“And how and why do you know that Pariah isn’t the King anymore?” Constantine asked through grit teeth.
Supernova stills, finally realizing the danger of the line of questioning. He couldn’t lie, his crummy template would tattle on him immediately. But at the same time he couldn’t just avoid the question without people getting suspicious. So that left the last option. Being as vague as possible.
“Someone from the Infinite Realms mentioned it,” Supernova said with false casualness.
“What?”
While most of the League just looked confused, almost every member of the JLD looked like he just told them he invited Trigon to a tea party. Constantine especially looked pale, similar to how Danny looked in human form. Half-dead wasn't a good look on him.
“You’re saying that a citizen of the Infinite Realms, which is literally the glue of the multiverse, just told you that Pariah wasn’t their King anymore?!” the sad trench coat man asked desperately.
“Well, it was more like an example of how some of their rules work,” Supernova stated with no filter.
“That makes even less sense!” Constantine screeched, “Most of the citizens of that realm are beings of emotion that literally come into being knowing how things work. They don’t work by our rules and certainly don’t explain theirs. And you're telling me that they sat down and explained the rules without you losing your soul?! And that you understood what they were explaining too?! The rules that have been driving those in the occult crazy trying to figure out so they can avoid them without offending them??”
Supernova laughs nervously. “Well when you put it like that it sounds insane.”
“Because it is!” Constantine screams, “They literally say ‘hi’ by fighting each other. Not to mention even if they don’t try to purposely hurt you they often do due to how fragile we are compared to them. Even their weakest would be a challenge to our heavy hitters!”
To be continued . . .

How To Balance Your Daytime and Nighttime Activities So That You Don't Burn Yourself Out More Than You Already Have
Preparations, Danny soon realized, were very much useless. He'd spend a while just watching the vigilante, recording his habits and schedule, following him around and taking note of the little details. Call him a stalker, but he was just trying to make sure Nightwing didn't end up in an early grave.
Not like him.
Any and all preparations Danny had made could not ever fully gear him up for actually talking to the only vigilante he'd ever met. Sure, he knew the guy from afar, but actually speaking to him? Looking him in the eye? Having the other look back at him and actually respond? The closest he'd ever gotten to letting the guy know he was there was when he left food out for him and made sure he had water, sometimes coffee, within reach at all times.
Now that Danny was here, standing in front of the door to Nightwing's - Richard Grayson, he'd learned on day three - apartment, he was frozen. Was he actually about to do this? Could he really risk it? What if Nightwing flipped out?
No. He couldn't think like that. Nightwing's a vigilante, a detective, and an officer of the law. He won't attack willy nilly. Besides, it was too late to turn back now. Danny knew way too much about Nightwing's life to back off now.
Not allowing himself to hesitate any longer, he reached up and pressed the doorbell. He didn't hear the sound, but shuffling from inside alerted him that the man he'd come to see was now moving towards him.
'I hope this goes well,' Danny thought. Then, the door opened. "Good, at least you're taking care of yourself and actually eating proper foods. Now, I'm here to discuss your extracurriculars and how to time manage them properly without running yourself into the ground." He didn't mean to enter the apartment uninvited, but he didn't want to risk Nightwing closing the door on him or something. "I've brought my own board with an ideal itinerary that I expect you to follow." He turned to look at the man. "Any questions?"
Nightwing rook a second to process the words. Then, he said, "Yeah, just one: Who the fuck are you, kid?"
Well, he was in this deep, might as well dig himself a deeper grave. "I would say I'm your new legal guardian, but you're older than me and I can't exactly adopt a fully grown adult." Right? Yeah. Danny sat down stiffly, his bag on the floor and leaning against his leg. He pulled out the binder he'd cleared out and dedicated to helping the older vigilante and put it on the table. "I could say that you're my new legal guardian, but we run into a similar problem." Kind of. Being dead is a legal barrier, so adoption's off the table. Transferred custody on the other hand? Well, he's got that taken care of. Though, he had to wonder, "Could you adopt me?" No, he couldn't think of a way that would work. "No matter."
Nightwing, still standing by the open door, shook his head a bit as if to clear his mind. "I'm sorry, who are you?"
Introductions? Yikes. "I'm Danny! Nice to meet you!" He had no idea how he's not completely bombed this yet, but he wasn't going to complain.
Nightwing didn't move from the door, let alone shake his hand. Danny put it back on his lap. "Likewise, I guess."
"What, no name?" Was that pushing it?
"I'm optimistic, not an idiot." Yeah, he'd towed the line a bit.
Shrugging to try and rid himself of the nervous butterflies in his stomach, Danny opened the binder to the front page. It was mostly so he'd have something to do with his hands, but it proved to be a decent distraction for Nightwing, too. Though, he pushed down a blush when he saw the glittery blue writing. It was the only other pen he had on him and he'd stolen it from Jazz.
The distraction didn't last. "How did you find this place?" Nightwing asked, the door still wide open.
"Doesn't matter." He didn't think the vigilante would take kindly to being stalked followed around the subject of a kid's curiosity.
Nightwing very much did not seem to believe him. "Why do you think I have a day job and a night job?"
Did he- Oh. The man was probably holding out some kind of hope that Danny wasn't saying what he was saying. Oops. Should he apologise? "I'm a realist, not an idiot."
Throwing the words back at him was probably not the best decision. Then, again, Danny hadn't made a whole lot of good decisions since he'd stepped foot in Bludhaven. At least here, there was a chance he could get away with it, relatively scot free. Imagine if he were in Gotham? With how violent Batman got recently? No thank you. He'd rather take his chances with his parents.
Danny did his best to not clear his throat as he flipped to the next page. "First thing's first. Why do you do what you do? Why go out at night to fight crime when, I assume, that's what your day job is for? Why hurt yourself to help other people?"
Those were all questions he'd had to ask himself before the portal destabilized. Why did he do what he does? Why risk himself to help the people who'd never thank him for his help? Why put his life on hold to do the job of adults?
He'd thought he'd had solid answers for them back then, but he wasn't so sure anymore. Regardless, this was a good place as any to start helping Nightwing.
If he could help just this one person, he'd be satisfied.

Unwanted Farewells
[Day 5 DPxDC Week: Jason Todd // Soulmate AU // Funeral Rites ]
• Anger Management ship (Jasmine Fenton x Jason Todd) No relevant warnings beyond the usual DP stuff
Jazz has always had it the worst. Danny might have been the one to die but Jazz is the one who lost not only her soulmate, but her little brother too. It doesn’t matter that he’s still around, he knows the grief weighs on her sometimes. She overcompensates by being a massive mother hen and general pain in the neck but he tries not to get too upset with her about it.
With Dani with an “i” fresh out of high school and Jazz’s birthday coming up soon, he wants to do something special. He spends a lot of time bribing Ghost Writer in order to research his idea out.
It’s probably the most time and effort he’s put into a project that wasn’t about space.
Proposing the idea to her is the one big thing this all hinges on. He’s not 100% sure she’ll be on board with this but he’d like to try.
And trying is what kicks off the first part of his plan. It’s a little awkward to bring up the fact that he doesn’t have a grave and would like one. It’s almost physically painful to see the grief it brings to Jazz’s eyes. She tries to hide it but Danny has always been able to read her better than he lets on. It’s part of the process though. He needs her to see how this goes and feels. How it’s a celebration of life and honoring those who have passed and not just a somber reminder to the living of what they’ve lost. He needs her to see what it means to him. And what it would mean to her soulmate.
He makes the grave marker of course. They’re not about to buy one when he has the strength and abilities to carve it out himself. He makes sure that it’s vague unless you know him. No names, no identifying markers like age or dates. It’s simple and meaningful for him.
{May he rest here between walks among the stars, our friend and brother beloved}
From there it’s pretty much all fun and games. Literally.
Same brings the games while she has Tucker pack out the food. It’s a combination of some of Grandma Ida’s homemade desserts and various junk foods. Even Tucker brings some cookies his mom helped him figure out how to make.
Jazz is in charge of the drinks while Danny and Dani handled all the decorating. It’s a combination of solidified ectoplasm, his ice, and various flowers they’ve gathered and strung together in a flower chain.
It’s a smashing success and he sees something in Jazz release. Some niggling worry or grief she carried that is no longer there.
Now, he decides, it’s time for part two.
What throws part two for a loop is when Dani with an “i” brings up that she’d like a grave and proper funeral rites as well.
It’s not a setback. Definitely not when he sees how much more relaxed and content Jazz is at Dani with an i’s wake.
It’s only a couple days from her birthday when he brings it up. The funeral practices for soulmates are as varied as they are sacred. He proposes her options via a PowerPoint he put far too many hours into.
By the time he finishes rambling, she’s got this sort of startled look on her face.
He twists his shirt in his hands as he stands awaiting her judgement. The longer she’s silent, the more convinced Danny is that she’ll reject the whole thing and not talk to him for a month.
Okay, maybe a week but still a week is a long time.
Suddenly Jazz is crying and oh ancients he’s really messed up this time. She’s not even mad just straight up upset by his offer.
But then she’s hugging him, telling him she loves him, and thanking him.
It’s not as hard as Danny feared to actually track down the location of a Jason Todd who died before Jazz reached 16 (she never wanted to look him up before, didn’t want to know what she was missing) and the day before her 25th birthday Danny, Dani, and Jazz all pile into her little car to make the drive to Gotham, homemade foods in tow.
Danny and Dani made sure to swipe one of Vlad’s special rich dude credit cards to fund their trip and the stop at multiple flower shops to get enough flowers to make flower chains and crowns for all of them.
It’s closing in on evening, the day of Jazz’s birthday when they finally roll up and upload everything. They didn’t bring any lights, but none of them really need much light to see for eating food and drinking sodas. Jazz brought some jasmine tea and an extra cup to place on Jason’s grave. They make a funky, dark evening of it, but finally Jazz grows more somber and keeps taking long looks at the gravestone so Danny and Dani decide to make themselves scarce.
They’re about halfway across the cemetery when out of the shadows steps the looming menace of Red Hood.
“The fuck are you doing at that grave?”
It’s not his voice or his tone, but the sub vocal ghost speak that makes Danny and Dani freeze up ramrod straight.
That’s a revenant and they’re trespassing on his resting place without permission.
So of course like any sane person, Danny says something stupid. But he just can’t believe out of all the ridiculous coincidences to exist in the world, that Jazz’s soulmate is undead like him seems just too far to believe.
“Jason?”
Almost late despite having the day off work bc I had to go shopping and bc of where I live, shopping is essentially a full day affair. This is shorter than I’d like it but I also kinda enjoy where it ends XD imagine their next moments however you please or feel free to add onto this.

I have a dc x dp idea.
What do y'all think that Jason's soul was up to for those years that he was just, in the ground. Or even when he was catatonic, if you wanna make it longer.
Yes, I am implying that Jason spent those years in the Ghost Zone.
For angsty reasons, I like to imagine that Jason's soul doesn't look like Robin (because that would make it to obvious), but instead, it looks a lot like he did when Bruce first met him. A street kid in a hoodie, armed with a tire iron.
Lets say Jason gets killed by the Joker about a year or two before Danny has his accident and becomes Phantom, and that Jason doesn't remember a whole lot about his time alive, but he's well known around the GZ. He's just this kid who was violently killed, with a spooky giggle, who loves stealing the tires off of Johnny's bike and causing problems. Not because he's mean, just because he's a kid who likes to pull pranks.
Jason and Danny get on like a house on fire. Danny is 100% down to annoy the shit out of Johnny, and as a bonus, Jason is 100% down to help Danny with his English homework. And Danny is immensely grateful that Jason never seems to want to leave the Ghost Zone to pull his pranks. Having to shut him in the thermos would definitely ruin their friendship.
And then one day, Jason is gone. Just gone. He's nowhere to be found in the entirety of the GZ or the realm of the living, as far as Danny can tell. Not even Clockwork can tell where he went, but everyone is kind of hoping that he got to move on, that his soul is at rest. It's never really happened before, but he was just 15 when he was killed, and he deserves to be at peace.
WELL! They're unfortunately wrong!! Sometime after the Red Hood's debut, some cultist shit goes down and Red Hood (and maybe some other bats) get dragged into the summoning of the Ghost King.
And it succeeds. Danny Phantom, crowned ruler of the Ghost Zone, bearer of the Ring of Rage and the Crown of Fire, King of all Ghosts, gets dropped right into the middle of Gotham.
He's really put upon by the whole thing until he notices Hood. It's been a while, and he reeks of rotten ectoplasm and corrupted magic, but Danny would recognize Jason's weird ectosignature anywhere.
"Jay!?"
"Danny!? Since when are you the Ghost King!?"
"Since I defeated Pariah Dark in combat. Since when are you alive!?"
"Since I woke up, two years after crawling out of my own grave. Dude."
And the other Bats are just watching this happen like "I was willing to accept that the Ghost King existed, but I'm having a hard time accepting that this child is him, or that he and Jason became friends while the latter was dead."
The trouble these two would get up to in the living realm is unparalleled.

Grave Green
fanfiction
ao3
word count: 4074
There's a shallow grave in the woods. The only marker is a stone with the name "Danny" scratched into it. Judging by the fresh-turned soil, it hasn't been empty for long. @kinglazrus
hehehehe
Dash wasn’t lost.
No way no how. There was no way he was lost. He was just going on his nightly run and he made a wrong turn and now it was the middle of the night and he couldn't see anything. But he wasn’t lost. He’d be able to find his way back still.
But the trees blocked the moonlight and he had to move slowly. But moving slowly didn’t help him when he tried to step on empty air and he fell, landing in a patch of turned dirt.
That was weird. Turned dirt? All the way out here in the middle of the woods?
He sat up and looked around him. Dash’s heart stopped and his eyes widened.
There at the other end of the turned dirt was a headstone with the name Danny on it. He could barely make the name out but he was sure it said Danny.
This couldn’t be Fenton’s grave, could it? Sure, Fenton went missing a month ago but everyone thought he just ran away. He couldn’t have been murdered and buried here, right?
But why was the grave dug out? How long has it been empty?
He heard the sound of a twig breaking behind him and he whipped his head around.
“Danny?” Dash whispered, horrified.
There he was, covered in dirt and looking at his hands like they weren’t his own. He raised his head to look up at Dash and tears were swimming in his eyes.
“Dash?” He asked shakily. “What are you doing out here?”
Dash just stared at Danny, at the absurd question. “What am I doing out here? What are you doing out here? You’re covered in dirt and I just fell into your grave!”
Danny slowly looked back down at his hands.
“There was an accident. I remember coming out here with my mom.” Danny whispered. “She said we were just going for a walk. That it would help me walk off the shock I got when their portal activated.”
Dash stared at him in horror.
“I don’t know how she did it, but when we got here there was already an empty grave. She pushed me in and started burying me alive.” His gaze traveled over to stare at dirt he crawled out of. “The headstone is new though.”
“Your mom… Buried you alive?” Dash asked, shaking his hands back and forth.
Danny nodded, still staring at the grave.
“It’s been a month since you went missing, though. How are you still alive?”
Danny’s gaze made its way back to Dash. “I don’t know. The accident must’ve changed me. Something seemed to scare my mom after I walked out of the portal but she wouldn’t tell me what it was. We came here afterwards.”
“Your parents are into ghosts right?” Dash asked. “Did their portal kill you? Are you dead?”
Danny went back to studying his hands. “I don’t feel dead. I’m kinda hungry.”
Dash slowly walked up to him. He hovered a foot away for a moment before he raised a hand up.
“If you’ve got a pulse, you’d still be alive right? Can I see…?”
Danny nodded and Dash put two fingers on Danny’s neck under his jaw. He held his breath and waited for the tell tale thump of a heart beat. He let it out and closed his eyes when he felt it.
“You still have a pulse. Somehow.” Dash pulled away.
Danny nodded. He seemed tired and he couldn’t stop staring at his hands. Dash sighed.
“Come on. Let’s get you back to my place. We can get you cleaned up and find something to eat.”
Danny nodded again and Dash grabbed one of his hands and pulled it out of his line of sight. Tugging on it, Dash pulled Danny behind him as they started walking.
“Did your dad know about any of this?” Dash asked softly. He tripped on a rock in the ground and turned to guide Danny around it.
Danny shook his head. “No. It was just me and my mom in the lab when the accident happened. She told me to put my jumpsuit on because we were going to try and fix the portal as a surprise for my dad.” He shook his head. “I don’t know how she thought I was supposed to help if my genius father couldn’t help her figure it out. She sent me inside the portal to take a look but I tripped.”
Goosebumps rose along Dash’s arms. She sent him into the portal?
“When I braced myself against the wall, I must’ve pressed a button. The portal came to life around me and then I was screaming. When the pain was finally gone, I stumbled out of the portal and my mom had a horrified look on her face. I didn’t know what she saw but a bright light flashed in the lab and then she walked over to me.”
Dash guided them past another tree and finally saw what looked like a path. He started following it.
“She told me to take my jumpsuit off and that we were going to go for a walk. She said it would help me walk off the shock. But the longer we kept walking, the worse the feeling in my gut got. Before I realized I should run, we were already standing over the grave. And then she pushed me in.”
“Shit.” Dash whispered.
“Yeah.” Danny’s hand tightened around his. “I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
“Let’s just start with getting cleaned up and eating. Then we can talk to my dad.”
Danny’s head shot up and he looked at him. “Your dad? What if he just brings me back to my mom?”
Dash shook his head. “If we tell my dad what happened he’ll probably arrest her for premeditated homicide.”
“Premeditated homicide?” Danny exclaimed. “Why do you think any of that would’ve been premeditated?”
“Hello? She already had a grave dug out for you? She sent you into the portal?” Dash finally saw the park entrance that he had come in through. He turned back to look at Danny who was staring at his free hand again. Dash could see all the dirt and mud stuck to Danny much clearer now.
“But…” Danny trailed off.
Dash sighed and pulled him closer so he wasn’t trailing so far behind him. “Sorry. Let’s get you back to my place.”
The rest of the walk was short and quiet. Dash could feel Danny’s dazed and disassociating look as he walked beside him. He couldn’t imagine being in Danny’s position. No matter how shitty his own mother was, at least she just left them instead of trying to kill him.
They finally turned onto the street his house was on. Dash started pulling his keys out of his pocket. He inwardly cringed when he saw the lights in his living room still on. No doubt his dad was still up waiting for him.
They walked up the stairs to his front door and put his key into the lock and opened the door.
“Where have you been, young-”
His dad stopped when Dash pulled Danny into the house. He stood there for a few moments studying Danny and the dirt all over him.
“Where did you find him?” His dad whispered.
“I got lost on my run.” Dash said, guiding Danny in behind him while he closed the door. “I tripped on the grave he crawled out of while I was trying to find my way back.”
His dad blanched at him. “I’m sorry, what?”
“I can explain everything to you but can we get him figured out first?” Dash gestured at Danny. “And I don’t think he needs to hear the story he told me again.”
His dad nodded. “Yeah, right. Take him upstairs and find him a change of clothes and get him cleaned up. I’ll make us up some soup.”
Dash nodded back at him and pulled Danny up the stairs behind him.
“I’m gonna find some clothes for you to wear first and then we’re gonna head to the bathroom.” Dash said over his shoulder. Danny didn’t respond.
Dash headed to his room and opened his door. He let go of Danny’s hand.
“I’ll be right back.”
Dash headed to his closet and looked through his t-shirts. They would all be pretty big on Danny but that would be fine. He grabbed the one Nasa shirt he had and headed to his dresser. He struggled to find some sweat pants that would fit Danny but finally found an old pair of his buried at the bottom of one of his drawers.
He walked back to where Danny stood in the hallway. He was staring at where Pookie sat on the floor, staring back up at him.
“That’s Pookie.” Dash said.
Danny nodded. “I remember. I’ve always wanted a puppy.”
Dash smiled. “I’m sure he’ll be able to fill all your puppy needs while you’re here tonight.”
Danny smiled sadly at Pookie but turned to follow Dash to the bathroom.
“You can sit down on the toilet.” Dash set the new change of clothes on the counter while he rummaged through the cabinet for the first aid kit and a washcloth. He set the first aid kit on the counter and turned the water on. He waited for it to get warm before he soaked the washcloth in water. Sudding it up with soap, he turned to face Danny.
“Are you okay with me cleaning your face and arms off?” Dash asked him.
Danny looked up at Dash, his expression blank for a moment before he nodded.
Dash sat down on the edge of the bathtub and started with wiping down Danny’s arms. There was so much dirt and grime. As he washed it off he also found some cuts and scrapes. Danny’s hands were the worst but Dash supposed that’s what happened when you dug your way out of your own grave.
“I’m just gonna have you wash your hands in the sink when we’re done. That might just be easier than me trying to do it with a washcloth.” He stood up and grabbed a clean washcloth for Danny’s face.
He sat back down and brushed Danny’s hair out of his face. Danny’s blank eyes focused on him.
Dash held Danny’s head in place by placing a hand on his left cheek. He started by cleaning around Danny’s eyes. Dash moved to his forehead but his eyes stayed closed as Dash cleaned the rest of his face and made his way down his neck.
“Don’t forget behind the ears.” Danny whispered.
Dash snorted but obliged him.
He threw the second washcloth into the sink and studied Danny’s hair as he opened his eyes back up.
“Wash your hands and take your shirt off. I think we should rinse the dirt out of your hair, even if we don’t actually wash it.”
Danny headed over to the sink and washed his hands while Dash turned the water for the shower on. He tested the water and adjusted it until it felt like a comfortable temperature. Danny finished washing his hands and then took his shirt off and changed into the sweatpants, tossing the soiled clothes on the floor.
“Lean over the edge of the tub and I’ll rinse your hair out.” Dash said.
Danny did as he was asked, propping himself up by resting his arms on the tub. Dash rinsed and pulled as much dirt out of his hair as he could before he shut the water off. He grabbed a towel out of one of the cabinets and handed it to Danny.
“Here.”
Danny slowly dried his hair as Dash opened up the first aid kit. He pulled out the hydrogen peroxide and neosporin. He grabbed yet another washcloth and doused it in hydrogen peroxide.
Dash turned back to Danny just in time to see him pull the towel off of his head.
“This will sting a bit.” Dash warned as he started working on cleaning the scrapes on Danny’s hands and arms. He moved up to Danny’s face and cleaned the one scratch that ran across his cheek.
Dash went to grab the neosporin and started applying that when Danny looked up at him.
“Thank you for doing this. You didn’t have to.”
Dash shrugged. “Even if I didn’t want to, my dad would’ve made me. But I wouldn’t want to leave you all covered in dirt. You don’t deserve that.”
Danny hummed and Dash finally finished cleaning him up and putting bandages on.
“You can take the spare bedroom. I can bring your food upstairs for you.”
“Okay.” Danny nodded, pulling his shirt on. He looked down at the floor as Pookie started following them.
Dash opened the door for the spare bedroom and turned on the light.
“Here you go. Home sweet home for the night. You can get settled in while I go see where the soup is at.”
Danny nodded again and sat down at the edge of the bed. Pookie jumped up by him and curled up at his side.
Dash headed back downstairs and found his dad still stirring the soup in the kitchen. He looked up when Dash sat down in a chair at the counter.
“How’s he feeling?” His dad asked.
“He’s pretty out of it. Has been since I suggested that his mom did this to him on purpose.”
Dash’s dad turned to look at him. He pinched the bridge of his nose. “You’ve got to stop explaining things like this. Can you start from the beginning?”
“He said his mom asked him to help her fix some portal they built that didn’t work. That she wanted it to be a surprise for his dad. But she asked him to suit up and sent him inside the thing. He tripped and hit a button and it turned on from the inside.” Dash looked away from his dad. “He got hurt and when he walked out of the portal he thought something scared his mom. She took him on a walk and at the end of it she pushed him into a grave she had ready and waiting and buried him alive.”
His dad’s eyes widened. “She buried him alive? Wasn’t that a month ago that he went missing? How is he here?”
Dash shrugged. “They’re ghost hunters. It’s probably some weird ghost thing. But she even marked the grave with a rock that had Danny’s name on it. He literally dug himself out of his own grave.”
“Goddamn.” His dad whispered. “I can’t decide if this kid has the best or worst luck in the world.”
“Maybe a little bit of both.” Dash joked. His smile fell and he looked at his dad. “Is this enough to arrest her? Or will Danny just have to go home to her?”
His dad shook his head. “I think it would be enough. We just need to find the evidence to prove it. But we can arrest and detain her for questioning. If we believe her to be dangerous we can keep her without bail as well.”
“Okay. When will that happen?” Dash asked.
His dad looked up towards the stairs. “Let’s talk to Danny and get the evidence we need. I think your and Danny’s statements will be enough to arrest her while we search for other evidence down in that lab of theirs.”
Dash nodded. “Okay. We’ll keep him safe though?”
Dash’s dad looked back at him. “Yeah. We’ll keep him safe.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the portal failed, Maddie knew what was missing.
It was a portal to the land of the dead. When every calculation they’ve checked, double checked, and triple checked was correct, there was only one thing left that she thought could be the answer.
Opening a portal to the land of the dead required a human sacrifice.
So one day when Jack and Jazz went to the fudge museum, she asked Danny to help her tackle the problem with the portal. She told him she wanted it to be a surprise for Jack. That she wanted to fix it before he came home so that he’d be greeted with a happy sight.
She made sure to hide her notes and hypothesis somewhere Danny wouldn’t stumble upon them. She asked him to get suited up under the guise of lab safety and she sent him into the portal.
It happened more naturally than she could’ve ever hoped. As he was walking inside, he tripped over one of the wires that ran across the floor of the portal and fell against the portal wall. He pushed the on button that was on that wall and the portal hummed to life.
She took in the last image of her son, trying to commit him to memory.
His screams seared her mind and she tried to block them out. This was for science. This was necessary to further their studies.
But when the screaming subsided, something she wasn’t expecting happened.
A ghost stepped out of the portal. He looked just like her son except for the fact that all of his colors had inverted.
And his eyes.
His eyes opened. They were acid green and full of fear and pain. He made eye contact with her. A bright light appeared around his waist and when it traveled over his body and disappeared, her human son was left standing there.
“Mom?” He said. He held his hand close to his chest.
“Danny, come here.” She gestured him towards her. “Let’s get your suit off. Let’s take a look.”
She unzipped his jumpsuit and pulled his arms out of the top and helped him step out of it. A lichtenberg scar ran from his hand that hit the button up his arm.
He didn’t seem to realize what happened. He didn’t realize he had died. That he was some kind of abomination.
“Let’s go on a walk, Danny. Let’s walk that shock off.”
“A walk?” He asked groggily, confused. “Shouldn’t we-”
She shook her head. “No. Let’s go on a walk. You seem okay. Let’s just stretch your muscles out.”
This wasn’t how she planned for this part to go. She expected him to just be a body on the floor that she’d have to take care of. She didn’t expect him to survive that. If you can consider it that.
As they walked further away from the house and into the park, she could feel Danny getting uneasy behind her. She could tell he didn’t understand why they were just going on a walk. It got worse when they walked into the woods and she walked off the path.
“Mom? Where are we going?” He asked nervously.
There it was. Right behind him. The grave. He hasn’t noticed it yet.
She pushed him and a cry pulled itself out of his mouth. He fell into the grave and his back collided with the ground.
“Mom!” He cried. “What are you doing?”
She tried not to listen to his cries and pleas. He was a monster. He wasn’t really her son anymore. Not the abomination he turned into.
She pulled a pop out Fenton shovel out of her tool belt and started shoveling dirt into the grave. He tried to sit up so she started aiming for his face and dumping more dirt in faster so he couldn’t sit up anymore.
Soon he was completely covered and he had stopped struggling against the force of the dirt on him. She found a large stone and placed it at the head of the grave so she could recognize it when she came back.
She cleaned her shovel and folded it back up, storing it in her belt. She brushed the dirt off of her jumpsuit and composed herself before she started making her way back out of the forest.
Nobody could know what Maddie did. She was protecting them. All of them. She did what had to be done. She couldn’t let a monster like that walk around.
Jack and Jazz just thought Danny was missing. They thought he ran away or maybe that somebody picked him off the side of the road one day. They didn’t know that he died in their basement when the portal turned on. That she had orchestrated the whole accident. They would never know.
But when she caught sight of the monster wearing her son’s face, her heart stopped.
There he was, sat in the middle of their living room, Jazz and Jack doting on him. But standing between her and them was Officer Baxter and his son.
“Mrs. Fenton.” Officer Baxter said as he stepped forward.
“Oh.. You’ve- you’ve found my son.” She said with a weak smile. “Where has he been all this time?”
Dash stepped closer in front of Danny. Jazz placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Mrs. Fenton, I need you to turn around.” He pulled a pair of handcuffs off his belt.
She stared at them before her eyes darted back up to his face. “What- what are those for?”
“You are being arrested for attempted premeditated homicide.”
“I- I don’t- Why would you think I would do that?” She tried to feign shock, but he kept walking towards her.
“We already have a warrant out for your arrest and another to search your lab for evidence.”
She looked at the monster on her couch and pulled a blaster out of her utility belt. “I don’t know how you survived, ghost scum, but I won’t let you walk around pretending to be my son!”
She went to take a shot but Jack jumped up and knocked the gun out of her hand.
“This is our son, Maddie!” He shouted at her.
“He’s not my son anymore!” She screamed as Officer Baxter knocked her to the ground and forced her into handcuffs. “He’s ghost scum parading around with his face! My son is dead!”
“You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to an attorney-”
“Let go of me!” Maddie screamed as she struggled against the handcuffs. He pulled her off the ground roughly and started walking her to the door. “My son died! He’s dead! That is not my son!”
That monster looked at her with wide eyes she swore she saw turn green. A single tear streamed down his face.
“That is not my son!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dash watched as his dad carted Maddie to his car. She was still thrashing against him, screaming in the street.
“What happened, Danno?” He heard Jack whisper behind him.
“She did something to me.” Danny whispered.
Dash turned and saw Jazz and Jack exchange a look between the two of them. Danny was still staring at the front door where his mom had been taken away.
“What did she do to you?” Jazz asked.
Danny shook his head. “If- if I told you… Would you still love me?”
A sad look crossed onto both Jack and Jazz’s faces. “Of course we would.”
“Mom didn’t.”
“What did she do, Danny?” Jack asked him again.
Danny’s gaze finally lifted and landed on Dash. Dash started a little bit at the expression Danny was giving him.
“You want me to tell them?” Dash asked quietly. Danny nodded.
Dash took a deep breath. “He told me that Maddie asked him to help with the ghost portal. That he went in and pressed a button and when he came back out she looked horrified. Then she led him out to the woods where she had a grave already dug out.”
Jazz covered her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes. Jack looked horrified. Danny’s eyes were vacant again.
“I got lost in the woods yesterday and tripped over his empty grave.” Dash looked away from them and at the floor. “He somehow lasted a whole month buried out there. He had just crawled out of the grave not too long before I got there.”
Danny had started shaking and Jack shushed him. Jazz wrapped her arms around him in a hug.
“It’s okay.” Jack said. “You’re safe now. You’re back home.” Jack turned to look back up at Dash.
“Thank you. Thank you for bringing him home to us.”
Dash nodded. He was about to turn away when something caught his eye.
Dash saw Danny’s eyes flash an unsettling green.
What if his mom had been right?

Dannymay 2023. Day 7. Weapon. DPXDC.
The Justice League is trying to figure out Danny’s identity, and he’s not happy about it.
~Words hurt more than weapons~
~~~
Wonder Woman: You’re bound by the Lasso of Truth. No more chance of hiding secrets, ghost.
Danny: Are you kidding me?
Batman: Who are you, Phantom?
Danny: "I am a 400-foot tall purple platypus bear with pink horns and silver wings."
Captain Marvel: Wow, you don’t see many Fire Nation princesses these days.
Danny: Hm, at least someone with good taste here.
Danny: Have you even read the Fenton articles? Batman? Anyone? No? Remember. Ghosts will always find a way to lie. Your ribbon has no power over me.
~~~
Danny: ..I have a few words for you too, Batsy. Martha says hi. And she wants you to know that " ..if I see a damn clown in the immediate vicinity of one of my grandchildren or if I find out that you or any of the family are on patrol with broken bones, I’ll spank you as soon as I meet you on the other side. Obey Alfred. With love, Mother."
Flash:..Batman, why are you so pale?
Batman: Someone sprayed the fear toxin. Check the ventilation.
Flash:..
~~~
Superman: Stop it! Listen..
Phantom: I liked you when I was a kid, you know? They say it’s better to never meet your idols. Now I see it's truth.
Superman: You shouldn't be doing this alone. We can help you.
Danny: What makes you think I need your help? Don’t be a hypocrite. Why don’t you take off your glasses at the Daily Planet office? And why do you think that you can tell me what to do with my secret identity?
Danny: Don’t worry, I’m dead but my family is fine. I’m not like you, Big Blue. I will not sacrifice the people I love for my murderous secret.
Superman: What are you talking about?
Phantom: Don’t play dumb. In the land of the dead, people like to talk about the past, you know. You told Jonathan he wasn’t your father, and then you didn’t even try to save him. It’s cruel. But you can be happy, Jonathan doesn’t blame you for his death. I do.
The temperature in the room dropped a few degrees.
Superman: I.. I listened to what he said. He was trying to protect me.
Danny: So, how does it feel? Letting him die in front of you, knowing you could have saved him? Do you blame youself?
Superman: How dare you.
Danny: Of course, you do. Because no matter how many lives Superman saves, the most important one to you..You’ll never got it back. Afraid of being a lab rat? Superman is not special. I am not special too.
Danny: Don’t look down at me just because you have more experience behind you. Revealing my identity should be my choice, not yours.
~~~~
Danny: Stay out of my grave. *turns to Batman* You should stay away from your son’s grave too. Leave the past behind.
~Hairstyle. Sharp tongue. Physique. This Insolence.~
Batman: Jason?
Danny: Wrong ghost, old man.
Batman: ...You’re the one who said a ghost would always find a way to lie.
Danny: Pride and prejudice! *shit, I’m starting to swear like Mr.Lancer, It’s time to finish my english essay.*  I’m not your Robin. Sorry bout that.
~Jane Austen? No hint more obvious. Jay doesn’t want to deal with the League? Well, Bruce doesn’t mind playing along.~
Batman: I understand.
Danny: Thank Ancients! Anyway, I’m leaving. Don’t look for me.

Tucker: Wow, Danny, when we told you to take care about the League, we thought you’d do it, like, without turning all of them against you.
Danny: Not all of them. And I didn’t do anything wrong. We talked.
Jazz: Danny, believe me, sometimes a conversation with you can cause more damage to your enemies than your ectoblasts.
Sam: Not just to them. Sometimes I also feel like his ideas are melting my brain.
Danny: Hey! Actually, you should be on my side.
Sam: We should?
Danny: Never mind. But if JL set foot in Amity Park I will sic on Wonder Woman her grandfather.
Tucker: But her Grandfather is Kronos. He’s a creep, trying to eat all his kids. Where do you even know such a monster from?
Clockwork *puts a cup of tea on the table and coughs to attract attention*.
Tucker: Wait a minute...
Tucker: Oh mY GOd, Mr. CLocKWoRk I’m sO SorRy, please don’t kill me.

Danny and the Spooks Pt2
This is a continuation of my other post Here
More specifically, this is where I’m dumping my ideas for it that involve crossovers, mostly with DC, as I know that stuff isn’t some peoples cuppa tea, and wanted to make sure it could be viewed and enjoyed by all.
So, I’ve come up with two ways for Danny and the spooks to mix with other fandoms. 1) Danny’s a known entity and (somewhat) trusted ally who is super protective/secretive about the tiny ass town he micromanages and 2) Danny and the ghost issues of Amity are more less unknowns and the hero’s of the verse show up only to be met with a (somewhat) functional crime fighting organization.
I’ll do the first version in this post and the second probably in a different post.
Phantom was one of the founding members of the league, and one of the most mysterious members at that. Although most of them had known about each other and occasionally worked together long before they came together officially 3 years ago to fend of Darkseid and found the league Phatom himself had come out of left field so to speak. Appearing with no warning in his bulky Hazmat suit and barely saying a word for most of the crisis, they didn’t really have any choice but to accept his help regardless of their (Batman’s) skepticism, and that decision to trust him payed out in the end as Phantom, despite being a complete unknown that could stay under the radar at that point, was apparently strong enough to give Supes and Wonder Woman a run for their money. They threw around a lot of theories about the guy, Superman seemed convince he was some type of alien while others thought he was a meta. Batman’s theory of choice was that he was a time traveler form the future with advanced nano technology, using cave paintings and historical records from across the globe that duplicated him as evidence. Aquaman and Dr. Fate think he’s some type of lord of order or God, with a capital G, because there was apparently some strikingly similar being who fought a Chaos deity to try and stop Atlantis from sinking.
But every attempt to actually investigate has ended “inconclusively”, as after Batman finally tracked down which town Phantom watched over he only got a few steps in before he got gently grabbed buy the cape and flew several states away like a misbehaving kitten getting grabbed by the scruff. Flash got the farthest in of anyone, sprinting in and getting about a block in before just appearing in Canada with sticky note attached to his forehead reading “Please stop stalking my grandson. :-) -CW.”
So when they were all in a meeting discussing where to keep the young justice team they were all surprised, to say the least, when Phantom offered to take them in and look after them Inside of Amity. Apparently(supposedly) the main reason he keeps everyone so far away from his town is because no one in the league has the experience and skill set necessary to properly combat his rouges, and gaining the experience and skill would probably include several mind control/body snatching/cloning/imposters/potential world endangering events and that just wouldn’t be worth the risk, especially with all of that resulting in their own rouges getting into contact with his, a recipe for one shitty weekend as he put it. But a little less than a week ago Luther used an intermediary to hire one of phantoms rouges to hunt Superman, which explains the bandage on Superman’s side. So now that the cats out of the bag Phantom want to make the kitty purr and prepare the rest of the heroics community for “the complete and utter nonsensical shenanaganery that he’s stuck dealing with” and The Team seems like a good opportunity for it.
I envision this whole meeting probably being told from Flash’s point of view, as he’s smart and goofy enough for some good humor and exposition but I guess it works for anyone. The Young Justice team wind up in mount justice while the main base of the Spooks, called the Grave or something else suitably on brand, is prepared just long enough to get bored and go rescue Superboy. Then the whole team and some of the justice league step foot into Amity for the first time, and then get a whole PowerPoint presentation explaining the town and its BS and are just Shook when they find out that Phantoms not some meta or alien or time traveling genius inventor but just some dead dude.
The team essentially gets fast tracked through the training for Spooks to make sure there up to snuff and begin patrolling and stuff. At first Superboy just can’t handle working in the R.I.P.D. and then he finds a ghost who whole shtick is “I need to punch shit”, which bridges the gap between the fighting he knows and the negotiations he doesn’t and helps him learn more about diplomacy and chill out, can’t decided if I want the ghost in question to be a boxer, sumo wrestler or really over the top westler.
As practice living a double life and going under cover they all have to get jobs and be Normal, but they all suck at being Normal. It just straight up doesn’t cross Superboy mind that normal people can’t use motorcycles to beat up convenience store robbers. At first he goes for the car, stops and goes wait a second that’s not something normal people can do and I’m Normal, so he picks up a Harley like “Yep, this is completely average amount of strength.”
Wally’s working in the kitchen of a restaurant and keeps accidentally using his super speed. Not enough to glow or spark, but more than enough for people to freak out. But he’s doing the work of 4 people which means management need 3 less people to pay so they just let him do his thing.
Robins such a gremlin that people think he’s straight up a child ghost very poorly disguising himself as a human child, using rafters and vents as short cuts with the justification “it’s not weird if they don’t see me do it” which makes it seem like he’s using invisibility, intangibility and teleportation to get around. He’s so quite when he walks that people come to the conclusion that he’s forgetting to walk and just floating places and/or trying to look like he’s walking like a Perfectly Normal Human Child but not actually making contact with the ground on accident.
All the locals see all this stuff and just go “Kids are kids, ghost, human or ecto-contaminated to hell and back.” And all make a group effort to hide them from the Fentons and GIW. The team, which is actively trying to investigate both groups, becomes convinced that the people they work for are in cahoots with the GIW and hiding their activities, but every time they switch jobs it takes like, a week for the GIW to get to them again(for them to go “oh poor children” and try and keep them safe).
It doesn’t help that the first friend they made in town is a scrawny little black haired blue eyed twink that they saw beat a mothafucka with another mothafucka in an alleyway on the first day of class, constantly pulls off what should be nearly impossible acts and disappears without a trace, further twisting their idea of what is within normal human limits. (They saw Danny fighting Skulker in human form at 3am in the Nasty burger parking lot because he was to lazy to shift forms, and they use the fact that the kid that can nonchalantly throw hands with a nine foot tall T9000 knock off as an excuse to get away with stuff. “Mr. I-fight-death-bots-with-my-bare-hands is the weakling at the bottom of the food chain, so me being able to do this it Normal. Probably.”)
Just a few ideas I had for this, will probably post more later. Drink some water and chill, peace out.

Wail of the Silent 4/?

TW: Brief mention of suicidal ideation
Jason woke up strangely well-rested.
He didn’t have any more nightmares after the first one. If anything, he had a pleasant dream of an angel hovering over him. Jason sat up and noticed that he must’ve made it to bed somehow last night.
Jason looked out the window and saw that, while it was cloudy, the thunderstorm had stopped. Good. He hoped there wouldn’t be another one later. Thunderstorms reminded him of clawing his way out of his grave.
Jason got out of bed; it was chillier than usual. Hmm, was the thermostat broken or something?
Jason went to the living room and noticed he wasn’t alone. He got on the defensive and took out a gun under the coffee table. He pointed it toward the figure.
Jason let his gun fall a bit when he saw it was the angel from his dreams…God, that sounded corny.
Jason studied the…man. He was asleep, floating three feet in the air, his legs crossed. He was tall, maybe 6’5”. Definitely taller than Jason or even Bruce. He wore a black and white hazmat suit with a stylized ‘D’ on his chest. He had pale blue skin, white hair that seemed to defy gravity, and green freckles.
(Jason hadn’t been imagining it last night, they were in the shape of constellations.)
Jason got closer to the man, his steps silent. He put the gun up to the man’s temple, and the man opened his eyes.
Jason almost dropped his gun when he saw Lazarus' green eyes staring back at him. Jason wished he could still talk so that he could yell at the man.
Who the fuck are you? He wanted to ask, what are you doing in my living room?
(Jason didn’t notice that chirps were coming from deep in his chest and came out of his mouth.)
The man raised his hands and floated in a standing position.
“It’s okay. I’m not here to hurt you. I’m Danny; I’m here to help.”
Jason sneered; no one could help him. He raised his gun again and pointed at the man’s, Danny’s, temple. Jason wished he could growl; he wished he could quip and cuss the man out. But he couldn’t
(Dad took away my voice.)
The pain he felt last night suddenly overwhelmed Jason, and he fell to his knees. The gun in his hand looked like a pain reliever.
Danny’s face went to a sneer, and he snarled as he felt Spectra’s influence in the room. He didn’t see her, and his ghost sense hadn’t been triggered, but Danny knew she was somehow causing the man’s backslide to his negative emotions.
As much as Danny wanted to go after Spectra, he couldn’t the other halfa alone, especially since Danny didn’t like how he was eying the gun in his hand all of a sudden. Danny went up to the man and took the gun. The other halfa’s core hummed in sorrow and disappointment.
Danny let his core hum out feelings of peace and hope.
It’ll be fine, Danny chirped.
I’m so tired, was the answer.
Danny took out the bullets and threw them away from them, and threw the gun in the opposite direction of the bullets. Danny looked around the room while watching the other halfa until he found a pad and a pen.
“What’s your name,” Danny asked while giving him the pad and pen. The other halfa took it.
Jason. What are you doing here? How did you get in?
“I heard your screams last night, so I came to help.”
Jason looked at Danny in disbelief.
I’m mute. You didn’t hear shit. What the fuck are you really doing here? What are you?
“I’m not an angel if that’s what you’re asking,” Danny said, amused.
Jason felt his cheeks warm up before he thought of something. There was no way in hell the guy should’ve known what Jason had been thinking. Unless…
Jason got up abruptly and stood as far away from Danny as possible. Danny had his hands back up.
 “Jason, what’s wrong?”
Jason was angry; he saw green. The thing in front of him was in Jason’s mind. Who knew what he had seen?
Jason’s core suddenly let out a strong feeling of anger that felt like a sucker punch. What had Danny done to make the other halfa so angry? Danny slowly picked up the pad and gave it back to Jason. The other halfa ignored him while his nostrils flared.
Danny knew he wasn’t in any danger, but he didn’t want to chase Jason away.
“Jason, what did I do?”
Jason took the pad and pen; how do you know I thought you were an angel? Are you a mind reader? Have you been screwing around in my brain?
“What? No! You told me!”
Liar, liar, liar! Jason’s core chirped out, hurt. Pain. Lies! He’s here to hurt me. Kill him!
Jason, I need you to listen to me. Really listen, what do you hear?
Jason let himself calm down. That’s when he heard it. There was a weird humming in the air.
Do you hear that?
Jason was surprised. Danny had just…chirped. What the fuck?
What the fuck?
Jason’s eyes widened even more; he had just chirped. The chirps didn’t come from his throat but somewhere deep in his chest. What was going on?
The humming in the air got louder.
Peace, calm, understanding. Calm, calm, calm.
Are you doing that?
“Yeah,” he spoke this time, “I’m using my core to communicate with you. You have one, too. That’s how I heard your scream last night. I came to make sure you were okay. I’m honestly surprised you’re still here. Very few beings or humans would be able to survive that type of pain.”
Jason frowned, remembering the anguish he was in the night before. He remembered wanting to make the pain end, one way or another. Then the angel, Danny, had appeared, and things had felt…better.
Tell me everything.
“Okay, first thing first, and I hope you don’t take any offense, but did you know you died?”
Amusement. Anger, acknowledgment. Anger. Anger, anger!
(Now that he was looking for it, Jason felt an energy deep in his chest that translated into humming.)
“I’ll take that as a yes.”
Jason gave a sharp nod.
 “Well, when you came back, you didn’t come back all the way through. You and I are the same.”
Suddenly there was a bright light. When it died down, instead of a blue-skinned, green-eyed, white-haired man, there was a blue-eyed, tanned, handsome man in front of him.
Damn, it must’ve been a while because Jason felt the sudden urge to climb the man like a fucking tree.
Danny smirked, and Jason’s cheeks warmed up. Had he somehow projected that with whatever the fuck was going on in his chest?
Danny’s smirk grew bigger. Yep, apparently, he was. How fucking embarrassing.
What are you? He asked instead of dwelling on his libido.
“We are halfas. Half ghost, half human. We are what happens when we don’t die all the way. We’re half alive, half dead. There’s only four of us in the world, including yourself.”
I’m not a halfa or whatever it is you call yourself.
Danny smiled sadly, “That core in your chest says differently. Honestly, if I hadn’t come to Gotham, I probably would’ve never found out about you.”
Why ARE you in Gotham?
Anger, fury, disgust, disgust. I have to stop her!
Jason fell on his ass at Danny’s intense humming and chirping.
“Spectra,” he spat, “She’s a ghost that feeds on misery and pain. I followed her to Gotham. She was feeding on you last night. That’s why you felt those negative emotions. They were probably stronger than usual, right?”
They were stronger. The strongest he had ever felt them. But if what Danny was saying was true…
ANGER, RAGE, REVENGE! KILL HER, KILL HER, KILL HER!
Calm, calm, I’ll get her, I promise.
No! Revenge, revenge! I have to get her!
Jason paced the length of the living room, livid. Some bitch had fed off him. Had used him! He needed to get her, to kill her, make her regret she ever crossed his path!
Where is she? He chirped.
(A part of him marveled that he could ask questions, could express his anger with sounds.)
“I don’t know. I’m looking for her. Look, I understand wanting to get revenge, but you can’t kill a ghost.”
How? How? How do I get my revenge?
Calm, calm, I’ll explain, calm.
“I capture ghosts and send them back to the Infinite Realms, the land of ghosts when they come to our world to cause havoc. However, she’s killed, that’s forbidden by ghost law. The Observants, the council of the Infinite Realms, have asked me to capture her so they can punish her. That means eternal imprisonment.”
Not good enough, not good enough, NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
Danny sighed, “It’s almost impossible to kill a ghost. Trapping them in eternal torment is the closest we can get to punishment.”
Almost didn’t mean it was impossible.
Danny sighed, “Why are the cute ones always the crazy ones?”
Jason blinked, and his feelings for revenge were suddenly gone. Danny thought he was cute?
Jason got off the floor and sat on the couch. He patted the space beside him. Danny got the message and sat down, too.
“Let me help you,” Jason signed.
“Sorry dude, still don’t know sign language,” Danny said, amused.
Jason rolled his eyes and picked up the notepad; he still didn’t know how to consciously make the noises with his…what was it, core?
Let me help you.
Danny looked deep into Jason’s eyes and saw determination shining through. He knew if he said no, Jason would go off alone. That would be dangerous. Besides, Jason needed to learn what it meant to be a halfa. And if Danny liked looking at the man, well, no one else had to know.

Dig You A Grave
Part 5
This is the next day.
___________________________________________
Klarion wakes from his well deserved sleep, to see his beloved feline resting on her cushion, next to him. Sitting up, a malicious grin spreads across his face. He is ready to plan his revenge on the Light.
Teekl stretches, then follows her witch boy as he begins to move around their dwelling.
“First things first Teekl, we plan.” A malicious grin split Klarion’s face as he got to work. Books, papers, and magical items began to fly around, summoned and judged on how useful it may be. Everything slowed to a stop as Klarion plucked a small electronic device out of the air. “oh, this will be fun.”
__________________
Back in amity Danny, Sam and Tucker were at Sam’s house finishing up their homework, when Tucker’s PDA begins to ding. Grabbing it to check the notification, he is surprised. “ Nothing!”
“What’s nothing?” Danny asks as he and Sam raise their heads, trying to figure out what their friend is going on about.
“So guys, I decided to do a background check on Danny’s new boyfriend.”
“He’s not my boyfriend, Tucker.” Danny pipes up, flustered.
“Wait, I want to hear this. What did you find?” Sam asks as she waves her hand at Danny.
“Anyway, as I was saying, I decided to run a background check when I got home yesterday, and nothing came up for him.”
“What do you mean nothing came up for him? There has to be something.” Sam states confused, tapping her pencil against her notebook.
“Or maybe Tucker’s skills aren’t as good as he says.” Danny says getting a jab in at his friend.
“Ha ha very funny, but no it’s more like he doesn’t exist or more likely someone is trying to hide him from being found.” The tech genius fires back, glaring at his best friend.
“Or maybe he just doesn’t use social media.” Sam ponders.
“Come on Sam. What teen doesn’t use social media?”
“Maybe Klarion is Amish?” Danny thinks out loud.
All three friends stop and think. What if Klarion was Amish. It would explain his lack of internet presence, his clothes and why he has never tried tamales before.
“They do send out teenagers to experience the modern world. He could be doing that.” Sam points out
“But aren’t they super religious and stuff?” Danny asks.
Sam looks at him before replying. “I mean they can be. Why?”
“Well I asked him out on a date, he has styled his hair into horns and he broke into the Fruitloop’s mansion to steal a book.And he put his contact as ‘Klarion the Witch Boy. Are there Amish Witches?”
Both of the halfa’s friends stared at him in disbelief.
“Ugh, now it makes so much more since.” Sam groaned. “If he does witchcraft and he is currently doing Rumspringa, that’s what it’s called by the way; I looked it up. Klarion is probably trying to find a way to not go back.”
“Why wouldn’t he want to go back?” Tucker inquired.
“Do you remember reading The Crucible last year?” Sam responded.
“Oh Ancients, that is as bad as me having ghost hunters for parents, maybe even worse. We need to help him.” The ghost boy says frantically jumping up.
“Well we yeah, but rushing in won’t do us any good. Now sit down.” Sam grabs Danny’s wrist, pulling him back down to the floor.

“Achoo!” Klarion sneezed in the middle of The Light Meeting, receiving glares from the other members.
“Now as I was saying, for the next phase …” Vandal Savage continues to drone on about their plans (read his plans). Klarion hates it but just a little bit longer and he would have what he needs. He had already switched out the book for an identical fake, duplicated many files, placed transportation sigils on many important pieces of equipment, and most importantly using the Young Justice comm he stole a while ago to not only record but transmit everything he was hearing. Oh his revenge will be a grand affair.
A little over an hour later, the meeting finally ended. Klarion had been assigned to kidnap metas and other beings for their new ally, the Reach. How dare The Light think, he a Lord of Chaos would willingly work for a species who just conquer and want to rule. Meaning everyone follows their laws and rules. How droll and orderly.
Klarion had other plans, and yes he might have to work with the justice losers but the chaos and calamity that will arise from it will be worth it. Now all he has to do is make his leave and watch the show.
With a snap of his fingers Klarion and Teekl disappeared from his former allies hideout, and appeared in Tim Drake’s penthouse, in dreary Gotham.
“Now Teekl, for the fun to begin.” Klarion smirks as files appear from nothing, covering the Kitchen island. He jotted down a quick note, then deliberately set off one of the bat alarms. The Witch Boy needed his friend to find these files sooner rather than later.
“Now to deal with the Reach.” And with another snap Klarion and Teekl were gone.
___________________
Sam and Tucker were able to calm down Danny before he went ghost and searched the world for Klarion. How they did it was simple. They called Jazz. With her help, they now had a plan. Make sure he is safe, then show him all of the great things the modern world has to offer.
That evening when Danny went home he texted Klarion. Seeing what he was up to and how Teekl was doing.
It took a while for a reply but he did respond. Danny’s obsession with protecting was soothed with the reply of being well and the picture of Teekl sleeping on a mound of pillows. They chatted for a while about various topics until Danny fell asleep mid text.
_________
______________
Klarion had had a great day. Destroying that blowhard Savage’s plan had made so much chaos and now he gets to relax and watch everything unfold. Now Danny was texting him, seeing how he was and asking about his amazing familiar.
Teekl had just settled onto a mound of pillows, being extra cute, practically begging for him to send Danny a picture of her. He did of course. Sharing the wonder that is Teekl, is second to spreading chaos. Their conversation carries on for a while, well into the night. By the time Danny stops replying Klarion is half asleep. Figuring Danny is also asleep he turns in for the night.

Prompt #31
Ever since Maddie fatally injured Phantom and woke up the next morning with her sons cold corpse in her arms, she’s been grieving, never able to really move on.
The bloody note he left on his bed read:
“Mom, Dad I’m Phantom I was zapped in the portal Jazz can explain the science Don’t blame yourselves If the police are reading this, don’t lock them up, they didn’t know, I kept it from them Please don’t cremate or cut open my body Bury me in my favorite NASA hoodie I love you Goodbye
-Danny”
She couldn’t help but blame herself, she’s the one who killed him. He was too pure and forgiving for this world, asking his murderer not to blame herself, unfortunately the universe agreed.
Jazz moved away for college as soon as she turned eighteen, clearly she blamed Maddie, and Maddie couldn’t blame her for it.
She was pregnant again, with a baby boy they would call Michael, someone to carry on the Fenton name now that their first son was dead, not that Danny could ever be replaced.
She visited his grave every month to leave flowers and apologize and just tell him what was going on around town. On his birthday every year she and Jack would come and carve another few constellations on his tombstone, soon they’d run out of room and have to start putting them on the Phantom memorial the townspeople built right behind the headstone.
One day Maddie brought a little model spaceship and tell him she was sorry she ruined his chances of one day becoming an astronaut like he always dreamed. She came back the next day to find a sticky-note saying: “I went to space”
As soon as Michael was old enough to take care of himself Maddie committed suicide and was buried in the empty spot right next to where her sons body lay in the ground.
Danny couldn’t just leave, he still had a town to protect!
So he stayed, barely a weak spirit, his former enemies were plagued by nightmares and visions of Phantom every time they wandered into his old territory.
Most of the time he simply hung out in the cemetery where his name was carved in stone, listening to his mother talk to him and tell him stories. It was nice to be visited so often, but he couldn’t stand that she wasn’t respecting his last wishes of forgiving herself.
When he heard her say that she was the reason he never got to be an astronaut, he had to reassure her, so he left a sticky-note with all the strength he could muster.
When Maddie killed herself Danny was at the funeral, invisible, but it was the first time he saw Jazz since his. Michael took up the task of adding a new constellation to Phantom’s memorial stone every year, and Danny was proud to watch his little brother grow up, even if he could never really meet him.
I made myself cry coming up with this.
This is more like a script than a prompt.

Dad Hood - part 13
‘And this is the bat-computer!’
Tim was showing his friends around. He was being supervised by Dick so he didn’t get overzealous and show stuff he wasn’t supposed to, and Danny and Jason tagged along as well. Danny had been eager to see the creepy lair. Superboy, Wondergirl and Impulse were also impressed.
‘This is so cool!’
‘How is this place so big?’
‘Is that a dinosaur?’
Batman was annoyed. He was still on the Bat-computer, trying to find Joker when the group had entered. Now his concentration was being challenged. But he had promised Tim a month ago that he could show them around, so he couldn’t say no. Not as long as it seemed that Joker still hiding and not making any moves. Meanwhile, Danny was getting curious over Tim’s friends. Did everyone in Gotham dress in weird outfits?
‘Are you all like my family? Everyone dresses so weird!’
Impulse puffs up his chest, eager to impress the little man.
‘Yep! We are all super heroes! We even have powers, unlike the Bats here!’
Danny looks confused. He thought that his Daddy was a grave digger, not a superhero. This was way cooler! This takes the group by surprise. Why would Danny think that Jason was a grave digger?
‘Uncle Dick told me daddy puts bad people in the ground! I thought it was really nice that he makes graves for bad people. Everyone likes to have them. Then your friends can leave you gifts! I wish I had a grave, then I could get gifts too!’
The group gets uncomfortable. As Jason laughs it off, he gets a weird feeling. Handing Danny over to Dick, he takes out his notebook. He looks at Danny. He looks at Bruce still doing research. Then he looks back at Danny. And lastly at the notebook filled with powers. Telling Dick to get Danny upstairs, he grabbed Superboy by the collar and dragged him of.
‘Kon, with me. NOW!’
Superboy was confused, letting Jason drag him to the Bat-computer. As they reached Bruce, Jason took a deep breath.
‘Hey, B! I was thinking, with how badly this investigation is going maybe we could ask for a bit of help? Now that Tim’s buddies are here anyway?’
Bruce sighed. He usually didn’t want other supers operating in his city, but Jason was right. Perhaps Superboy could find something he missed with his X-ray vision, or hear something he couldn’t. After Bruce showed Kon the location Dick last saw the Joker on a map, Kon took off. Tim was looking at Jason, suspicious at his nervous behavior. Taking Jason apart, he asked Jason why he was acting weird, which Jason denied.
‘Weird? Me? No no. I’m just… nervous. I don’t like having that clown on the loose, especially now that I have a son! I don’t think that is weird at all! It would be weirder if I wasn’t nervous!’
Before Tim can interrogate him further, Kon comes back. He too looks very nervous. Bruce approaches him, telling him to report.
‘Yeah, so… uhm… He’s… underground?’
Bruce was getting frustrated. He asked Kon to elaborate. Is he in a tunnel? An underground hide-out? He needed details!
‘Well… no. He’s… stuck. Like, in the ground. It’s almost like he phase-shifted like Martian Manhunter, but got stuck halfway. I’ve never seen anything like it.’
The group was shocked. How could that happen? Bruce feared the answer on his next question:
‘Is he…’
‘Oh, he’s very dead. I don’t know if it was because he was unable to breathe, or because literally every inch of his body is filled with soil. He must’ve died almost instantaneous.’
As Bruce was processing the information, the group heard a loud bonk. Jason had fainted for the second time in 3 days.
The next day, the whole family had gone to the mall. Alfred had ordered it as a distraction from the revelation of the day before.
‘Jason, you can’t say this is my fault!’
‘I. Blame. You.’
Jason and Dick were arguing quietly. They couldn’t let the others hear them, especially now that they were in public. After Tim’s friends had left, Bruce contacted Martian Manhunter to remove the body. He had been on Mars and couldn’t be there for at least a month, but it wasn’t like the body was going anywhere. So to take his mind of things, Alfred had ordered Bruce to take his kids out shopping. Now that Jason was awake Bruce could take him and Danny on a shopping spree, and Danny was delighted at the amount of toys they had already collected. This had done nothing to ease Jason’s nerves, though, and he was taking it out on Dick.
‘Look, how was I supposed to know Danny could phase-shift? It wasn’t in the notebook!’
‘Yeah, the book you didn’t read! And you wouldn’t have had to know if you had watched Danny like you were supposed to!’
Dick shushed Jason before he got too loud. The family still didn’t know that Danny was at the scene of Joker’s death, nor that Danny was a meta. Jason made it very clear he didn’t want Bruce to know about Danny’s affinity with the Lazarus Pit.
‘And for god’s sake, why did you tell him that I ‘put bad people in the ground’? Why on earth would you say that to a kid? What were you thinking?’
‘Look, Jason, I was so tired! I couldn’t think straight!’
‘Yeah, obviously you didn’t! I mean, what-’
Tim decided to cut the brothers off. They were getting loud, and if they stayed back much longer Cass might pick up on their argument. They were lucky she was distracted with Danny for as long as she had been.
‘Keep it down, you guys are going to alert the whole shopping mall! What’s done is done. What matters now is how we’re going to hide this from Bruce?’
‘Hide what?’
Suddenly Bruce appeared behind them. He was wearing a disguise, as he didn’t want the media hounding them. So far it had worked, and he had gotten Danny half a toy store worth of stuff. Looking behind Bruce, Jason could see Duke carrying a bag full of stuffed animals and Steph was holding so many Justice League toys they nearly fell out her hands. Cass was holding a box with an action figure of every member of the Bat family and the Justice League and a very expensive Make-your-own-hero set. It had been Cass’s suggestion, since the Red Hood didn’t have an action figure, with him being a drug-lord and all. This way they could make Danny a figure of his dad to play with.
‘Hide the… bottle of champagne Jason bought to celebrate. You know he hated the Joker, but we thought it was inappropriate to party in front of you. Sorry about that.’
Tim was one of the few that could lie successfully to Bruce. Jason was very happy that he didn’t rat them out. Hopefully they could keep this hidden a bit longer.

Buried in the Woods
@snops Hello! I'm your Truce gifter this year! I went after your 1st and 3rd prompts. Cryptid vibes and Corpse AU. Enjoy! >:)
.
They’re waiting for him, this time.
They don’t, always.  Usually, he’s faster than they are, and sometimes they can’t make it at all.  A few, very harrowing times, he couldn’t make it.
But here, now, they’re waiting, each one leaning against a tree trunk.  The hillside below then is dotted with charred and broken tree stumps that rise straight from the ground like monuments.  The moon is high, white, and sharp, cut from the sky with a razor.  Everything is cold, still, quiet.
Sam raises cupped hands to her mouth and blows through them, ignoring the dirt on her fingers and under her nails.  It’s not any worse than digging in her garden.  The shovels are a bit bigger, that’s all.
Tucker has taken out his PDA again.  He shouldn’t.  Not here.  The screen is bright, and someone might see it.  But he can’t help but check the time, again, squinting through the fog of his breath to see the numbers.  It’s late.  But that’s not going to change in a hurry.
Almost as one, they look down the hill, their attention drawn taught.  Something is moving down there.
Surreptitiously, Sam puts a boot on the blade of her shovel, levering it up and into her hand.  Tucker reaches out for his, fingers brushing the smooth wooden handle, not yet pulling it free of the ground.
They wait, still and cautious.  No matter how many times they do this, they’re never entirely at ease.
Then two spots of green, bright and alien, flare up at them from the dark.  If either of them had been carrying a flashlight, the green could have been mistaken for an animal’s eyeshine.
They weren’t.  It wasn’t.
Slowly, the thing in the dark comes up the hill.  It walks slowly, ponderously, its gait uneven.  Every once in a while, that green flashes again.
The clear cold light of the moon provides a silhouette, eventually.  A black hole in the night.  A human-like figure, a body thrown over one of its shoulders, a shovel propped on the other.  It is stooped, slightly, under the weight, but the way it moves could tell anyone it had done this before.  Its eyes are flat, green coins.
Sam blinks once, twice, three times.  Tucker just waits, still as stone.  Reality shifts.  No longer is the thing in front of them a shadow cut from nightmare, but their friend, Danny.  Normal, human, puny, blue-eyed Danny, who, for some reason, thinks it’s acceptable to wear a t-shirt in this weather and at this time of night.  He looks exhausted, and perhaps a little embarrassed.  Nothing frightening here.
Other than the fact he’s carrying his own corpse over his shoulder.
“You didn’t need to bring your own shovel, man,” says Tucker, compulsively pulling his PDA out again.  “We already got everything dug.”  He sounds worried.
Danny cringes.  “Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you wait that long.”  He drums his fingers on the shaft of his shovel and adjusts his grip on the body.
“It’s fine.  Let’s just get under cover.”  Sam turns and walks back, into the less-burned part of the forest.  She can hear Tucker following her.  Danny is, as always, silent.
“Oof,” says Danny.
“Huh?  Something wrong?” asks Tucker.
“Just walked over my own grave, that’s all.”  Danny offers them a smile that could have been made from the same fabric as the moon – although with a far less steady hand.
The response is a groan, as loud as they dare.
“We’re going to have to change locations, soon.”
And isn’t that the truth?  Accidentally digging up one grave was one grave too many, and it isn’t as if they could mark them.  What they are doing is illegal, both in the ‘this is literally against state, federal, county, and municipal law’ sense, and the more metaphorical ‘this is an affront to the laws of nature’ sense.
They reach their handiwork of the night before much longer.  The grave isn’t nice and rectangular, but they gave up on that early on.  It’s deep, and big enough to take what Danny’s been carrying.  That’s enough.
Danny promptly drops his corpse into the hole.  The sound of a corpse hitting the ground like that—It isn’t exactly indescribable, and it isn’t exactly unique, but…
It sure is a sound.
They stare at it, for a long moment.  It feels, even after all this time, that they should say something, do something, to commemorate the moment, to lay the body to rest.
But they don’t.
Danny hefts his shovel and starts the work of pushing the dirt back in.  Shovelful by shovelful, the body is hidden from view.  Covered up.  Tucked in.
“Well,” says Danny.  “That’s that for tonight.”
 They go back, down through the trees.  Sometimes, when he steps into the shadows of the trees, Danny goes dark again, his eyes green and glowing, but those moments become fewer and further between as they leave the fresh grave behind.  As they leave Danny’s latest death behind.  As Danny becomes more alive.
“Who was it tonight?” asks Tucker.  “Or was it more of a what this time?”
“Ember,” says Danny.
“That was fast, for her.”
“She wasn’t here for a fight, this time.”  Danny shrugs.  “Convinced her to ride my death back across the line pretty easy.  It’s almost as if—”
He stops, tilts his head to one side.  Shadows strobe across him.
“Danny?” asks Sam.
“Something’s here,” says Danny, his voice flat and empty, and then he's gone.
If there is one thing that is impossible for Sam and Tucker to get used to, it is the sight of their friend dropping dead.
Sam hisses through her teeth and crouches down.  “He couldn’t even tell us who it is first?”
“It can’t be anyone too strong,” says Tucker.  “He wouldn’t risk wasting a death.”  He thumbs open the timer on his PDA.  Six minutes.  On average, a human death held a viable door open for six minutes.
Sam shoots him a skeptical look and he winces.  There is, on occasion, a wildness in Danny's eyes beyond the green.
But it’s too late to talk about that now.  The moon-cast shadows undulate across the ground, twitching and fluttering like living things.  It's ink and blackness and the trees bending away from the sky to reveal stars that were both too close and too green.
The dark isn’t the only thing there.  There's something artificial, a presence the forest resists.  An intruder.  An outsider.  A predator, stalking, hunting, not looking for them, but it doesn’t care about collateral damage.
Sam curses under her breath.  “Skulker.”
The two ghosts clash and writhe, dead, unmade things in a place they should not exist.  They give the body, the corpse, a wide berth, Skulker not willing to get close enough to the body and the door for Danny to push him through, and Danny clearly not wanting Skulker to get too close to Sam and Tucker.
The problem with Skulker is that he’s always been out for blood.  Danny is his current prey, but that isn’t a good thing to count on.
“Do you think Vlad let him through again?” whispers Tucker, his words standing stark against the silence.
It’s probable.  There aren’t enough human deaths in Amity Park to justify how often certain ghosts return.  Any death can make a door, even a plant’s, even an animal’s, but those doors are usually too small and too brief for ghosts like Skulker to get through, if they aren’t called to them specifically.  But someone like Vlad or Danny can die again and again, as many times as needed.
Tucker sees Danny’s body twitch and he yelps, putting a tree between him and it.  Sam is more proactive.  She brings the flat of her shovel down on its head.  The ghosts that leak out are stripes of neon against dark grass.  The light is swallowed by the empty places between the trees.
“How much time?” she asks Tucker breathlessly.
“Three minutes,” he says, holding up his PDA.
“We need to get out of here.”
“What?  But—”
She grabs his wrist and hauls him into the dark.
It isn’t only black in there.  Star-flashes and moonlight twinkle and strobe as they run.  There are eyes, green and uncountable.  There is sound – gunfire swallowed by snow, the twang of bowstrings, the last gasp of prey, devoured.  The trees slide by them, studiously avoiding their path.  Soft mounds of earth flicker with gentle stars, the ground beneath them a mirror of the sky above.  It is like running between two mirrors.
This landscape, Sam realizes, a little late, does not favor Skulker very much at all.  Not here, in Danny’s own personal graveyard.
And the shadows retreat, pulled away like ink being absorbed by a napkin.
Sam and Tucker look back, over their shoulders.  Two green eyes stare at them from what isn’t, in retrospect, very far away at all.  Danny’s body lies on the ground below, barely visible.  The eyes do not leave them, even as the shadow they are in stoops to pluck the shovel from the limp hand of Danny’s body and start digging.
The shadows beneath the trees don’t seem very dark anymore.  The moonlight is almost blinding.
The timer on Tucker’s PDA goes off, loudly.  He hisses at it, annoyed that, somewhere along the way, he’d turned the volume on.
“Heck,” says Sam.
“Yeah,” agrees Tucker, vehemently.  “Where’d my shovel go?”
They find it before too long.  There aren’t too many places it could have gone.  They join Danny in digging.  Two graves in one night are really too much, but they’ve done more, and they’ve done worse.  They aren’t like Vlad, can’t just let them build up until it’s efficient to dispose of them, or whatever he does.  Something tells them that whatever is probably worse than they’re imagining.
Between blinks, Danny is himself again, and the grave is finished before the moon starts to set.
It is late.  It is early.  It is time to go home.
The thing about three teenagers with shovels walking the city streets at night is that they’re noticed.  Amity Park isn’t New York, but any city worth its name stirs in its sleep.  Midnight flights to the airport, inadvisably long bachelor parties, late movies, insomnia, homelessness.
Tucker’s been monitoring the ghost hunting and cryptid forums for a while, and he’s emailed Danny links to each one that mentions him.  Sam has clippings from the paper about calls to animal control about something with green eyes, about something that couldn’t possibly be human.  Then, of course, there are the calls to the police about something dragging or carrying bodies from all sorts of places.
There had been an investigation at one point.  There had to be.  But nothing had been found.  There hadn’t been anything to find.  No missing bodies, no mysterious disappearances, no deaths.  Just a green-eyed shadow and its mysterious companions.
Sam knows her parents, at least, think the whole thing is a prank.  Tucker’s think it is people seeing things when there was nothing there, like bigfoot.  The less said about what Danny’s parents think about it, the better.
Sam’s house is furthest from the center of town, and they drop her off first, the shadows on the trellis giving her a boost when she climbed.  Tucker and Danny then have the typical argument about whether it’s better to bring Tucker or Danny home first.  Danny, Tucker argues, has just fought not one, but two ghosts.  Tucker, Danny argues, cannot come back from the dead.  Danny wins, as usual.
That leaves Danny, real and not, alive and not, to wander home.  He waves cheerfully at a drunk who watches him pass with wide eyes and turns onto his street.  He breathes in, deeply, tasting the ash that still flavors the air all these months later.  He opens his eyes just in time for the winter sun to beam through the skeleton of one of the buildings that bracket the crater that was once Fentonworks.
No one lives here anymore.
No one is waiting for him.
Danny walks down into the darkness and disappears.

New Au: Bruce Wayne née Fenton:
DP x DC AU:
Thomas Wayne is a doctor, right? Anyway Danny Fenton is studying medicine so he can better help/protect Dani and her clone bros in case they destabilize again. The thing is that Danny and Thomas look exactly alike so much that they could be mistaken for twins, save a few features.
Danny befriends him and they get along swimmingly.
(Danny is generally a good person, Gotham, welcomes the extra help and energy he provides for the city. He becomes known as the Angel of Gotham, and Bruce's favorite hero the Grey ghost was inspired by his acts.)
He introduces him to a pre-pregnant Martha Wayne and they also get along very well, until tragedy strikes.
Thomas is infertile and or most of his sperm lead to miscarriages. Due to the pressure of the public, parents and age, Thomas asks Danny if he could help them out so to speak. (Alternatively, I would like it if they were a polycule. Also Alfred knows. To avoid scandal as well, since Danny and Thomas look so similar.)
A few months later, Bruce Wayne is born to the happy couple's delight and Danny only asks if he could be the boy's uncle or godfather.
Danny spends the next few years visiting the family in between taking care of the Infinite realms. Then tragedy strikes again, and Bruce is an orphan, Danny comes a few days later thinking everything is okay, when it's not. He is devastated to find out that his friends are dead and decides to help Alfred raise the boy.
(Afterwards he goes to their graves and promises he'll do what he can to help raise their son, not realizing that their spirits are right behind him, thanking him.)
The years go by and Bruce grows up relatively normal.
(One night Danny tucks him into bed, and Bruce tirelessly says thank you dad. Danny overhears this and is struck with grief as he knows his true birthright, but thinks it's for Thomas.)
When Bruce disappears to train to become the Batman, Danny and Alfred both panic as neither can find him. They decide to continue as normal with Danny visiting Alfred sometimes.
(During this time Danny helps with Gotham, brings food to the circus acts that come to town, helps abused women get on their feet from their husbands, helps street kids get better shelter, food, water, helps at the hospital when they need it, even helps give birth to a baby Drake, etc..)
When Bruce comes back to Gotham, Danny is nowhere to be found or at least hasn't been to the Manor in a few months. That gets put on the backburner as he now is the Dark knight and has to help Gotham.
(Danny is on vacation with his kids and their aunt.)
Side note: Bruce doesn't really have powers, just his limits are a lot higher than normal, ie:
Slight super strength, some floating = gliding, advanced healing but not by much, higher tolerance to pain and slight invisibility = camouflage with the shadows. If Bruce got more ecto energy than maybe he might develop, but it is unlikely.
Two situations where Bruce confronts his birth father:
1- Justice league needs to summon a ghost specialist as something supernatural is afoot. They summon Phantom as he is seen as a friendly guide to spirits, shades, etc.…
The moment Danny locks eyes with Batman he rushes straight out of the summon circle and goes to hug Batman. Everyone is confused as they thought he would attack, but he is just scolding Batman for disappearing without leaving a note for him and A. Batman is confused as he doesn't recognize him and Phantom asks if there is anyone he trusted with his identity.
Basically Superman and Wonder Woman stay as Danny de-transforms and now Bruce recognizes him.
2- The bat family have died a lot, and so one day, Bruce gets hurt and to check for poison in his blood he runs through the Bat computer to find out his blood is different than before as part of his DNA is unknown now, so he thinks that the Bat computer is faulty, not before Alfred reveals to him the truth of his birth.
(1 and 2 can go together. You can do a reverse where female Danny Fenton looks like Martha Wayne and she is infertile, where the roles are reversed, but Bruce is still a boy.)
