DPXDC Prompt #30
It’s been a while since they had a moment of calm in the Wayne household. Danny and Damian found themselves sitting on the U shaped couch talking,
“You mentioned before going into the Video Game Doomed, have you tried it with other games? Or tried it with a companion?” Damian asked.
Danny considers the question before shaking his head… the two try it and it works
From here you can really throw them into any game you choose, but I headcannon that Danny would absolutely pick something horror or ghost themed. They wind up in Luigi’s Mansion, Damian playing the part of Luigi frustrated with trying to get his brother back, while Danny argues with King Boo,
“I’m technically half ghost, doesn’t keeping me here technically goes against your whole thing here?”
Danny knows he’s being a pain but he doesn’t really care.

Impostor
Summary: Jason's first time interacting with another kid as Robin goes very badly.
Whumptober fill day nine. Prompt: mistaken identity, "you're a liar".
Being Robin meant more to Jason than just about anything in the world when he was fourteen. Less than a year ago he had been living on the streets, boosting tires and other unmentionable things just to survive. It was surreal to think that his life could change so completely in such a short period of time.
Training had been hard, really hard, and Jason had questioned whether it would be worth it many times while he was sweating and straining in the cave beneath Wayne Manor. But, it was all worth it and more to be flying through the night sky above Gotham city with that iconic yellow cape flying out behind him.
He was still new to Robin, still glued to Batman's side for every patrol and under strict orders not to stray. But, everyone knew that part of being Robin was doing what you thought was right, even if Batman told you otherwise.
So, when Jason heard a small voice yelling out the name Robin one night at the tail end of patrol, he barely thought about it. He carefully peeled off of Batman's tail and swung down to a lower rooftop closer to the bay.
He followed the yelling until he saw a small figure standing bundled up on the roof of an apartment building.
Jason proudly landed on the roof a good ten feet from the kid who was yelling for him and rolled his landing, popping up with his fists on his hips and a wide grin on his face. This was it! His first solo interaction as Robin!
The kid was a little girl with snarled and messy looking brown hair and huge black plastic glasses on a small pointy face. She was pretty tiny, he guessed maybe eight or ten years old, but she was swallowed by a huge red puffy coat.
"Hi, little girl!" Jason said, doing his best to hide his Bowery accent, but wincing when the vowel on girl definitely got too long. "How can I help you?"
There was a long pause where the little girl scowled impressively at Jason, and Jason did his best to smile winningly at her like he had practiced in the mirror. But, the longer that she didn't say anything, the harder it was to keep his face frozen in a smile.
Finally, she said, "You're not Robin," with more vitriol than Jason thought a ten-year-old would be able to conjure.
Jason jerked back at that, surprising himself at how much that comment hurt.
"What?" he asked faintly. Then, louder, he said, "No, I am Robin!"
"No, you're not," she yelled back. "You're a liar!"
"I am not!" Jason shouted back, completely losing his fake accent and his cool.
"Robin," a dark voice like the rumble of a V8 engine sounded behind Jason, but he was too incandescent with rage and hurt to start at Bruce's sudden appearance.
"You're not Robin! You're a nasty imposter and should be ashamed of yourself!" the little girl shrieked before running away from both Batman and Robin, crashing through the roof access door, and stomping down the steps at full speed back into the apartment building.
Jason stood there, frozen, his chest heaving. He felt impotent with rage, so hurt and angry and with nowhere to direct his feelings.
"Robin, I told you to stay with me. You disobeyed a direct order," Bruce rumbled, but the words hardly registered with Jason.
"She-" he gasped, clenching and releasing his hands frantically. "Why would she say that?" he asked. He meant to shout it, to scream it, but instead his voice broke pathetically small.
Bruce didn't say anything for a long moment, long enough that Jason almost scrubbed at his face with his hands before he remembered he wouldn't be able to reach his eyes with the domino mask in place anyway. He would have to wait until he could take the mask off to clean his face.
"That was Chelsea," Bruce said after a while. "Robin used to meet her at night and talk to her. She's a troubled girl," he said quietly, his voice softening, the rumble of Batman folding into the smoother softer tones of Bruce Wayne.
Jason stared at the door she had disappeared into. He wondered what troubled meant. He wondered what Dick had talked to her about. And, he wondered if a ten-year-old girl could tell he wasn't Robin, what everyone else thought. Maybe they all thought he was a pathetic imposter. Maybe they were just too polite to say anything.
"Robin, I should bench you-" Batman started, the growl back in his voice, but Jason cut him off.
"I don't care," he said roughly. "I want to go home."
"Robin-" Bruce started, the growl gone again.
"I don't care!" Jason shouted and then used his grapple to launch himself off the roof and back toward where they had stashed the Batmobile.
He didn't want to talk about it, he didn't want to think about it, he just wanted to run and feel the wind in his hair and the city beneath his feet. But even as the wind scrubbed away the feeling of wrongness, the words kept ringing in his head.
Jason wasn't Robin, and maybe he never would be.

Lately I’ve been wanting to illustrate a few ideas that came to mind, although they’re pretty much stolen, but still, I wanted to draw them.
Since I prefer Jervis’ TAS design but love the TNBA one, I thought I’d use it to represent the Impostor Mad Hatter so that I also draw him more often lol

Nightwing (2016) Issue #9

Nemesis - The Impostors Issue #3
Batman!Dick - he's so freaking cool!!!
He's so amazing and cool and extraordinary and over competent. He's what everyone looks up to. He's collectively placed on a pedal so high by every hero and anti-hero in that everyone wants to be him or be acknowledged by him. People have died in his footsteps. Even the Titans, his own friends, hero-worship, look up to him as the peak of excellence and goodness.
Tumblr media
Justice League of America (2006) Issue #50
Roy
Tumblr media
World's Finest: Teen Titans Issue #5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Titans (2016) Annual 1
The paragon of rightness and justice of the world - Superman - thinks dick is the best thing to ever come into existence.
Whenever you read a comic, there's always some character that goes "Nightwing!" when something happens and another responds "Dude, he's Nightwing. He'll be fine. He always is." That's the amount of confidence heroes have in him to always succeed and excel.
Like Kon said - when he shows up, people automatically fall in line. It's like second-nature to just follow him.
Dick has that Charisma, the leadership, and the strength to hold the entire community together and as a result the world. He's proven it, he's done it. Whenever the Justice League evaporates in any situation - because this isn't the first time the JL have died/gone missing - everyone turns to Nightwing for order and direction.
Truly, he's the greatest.

to put it into perspective, the only comics i confidently call myself a fan of is green arrow (and even that i hesitate because i haven’t read all of ga88 or the longbow hunters at all) or maybe yj (partly because it’s a group and half of them basically disappeared after the book was over, making it easy to read all of their appearances). i call myself a kon fan sparingly, even though i read his entire solo. i don’t think i’ve ever called myself a bart fan, even though i read all of impulse. i call myself fans of characters i know i can defend, i know i know thoroughly. for the bats i can’t say that, because i have read more green lantern comics than i have batman comics. and i can’t call myself a green lantern fan, partly for fear of being burnt at the stake and partly because it simply isn’t true. i like the bats just fine, but to call myself a fan of them anything but flippantly implies a deeper knowledge of them than i have. call it impostor syndrome, but that is what baffles me about a lot of fanon fans. isn’t it weird to claim to be a fan of something you don’t know? or like?

batman: the impostor (2022) / the batman (2022)
i love all the similarities between this comic and the batman. the author, mattson tomlin, cowrote for the batman, and you can really see the influences come through, not just through the art but the storytelling as well. some smaller scenes such as a robbery straight off the bat similar to the film, but especially parallels between riddler and the minor role of ratcatcher (though those comparisons really come to life in dano's riddler: year one) make this a great comic to step into after watching the film. not to mention bruce looks strikingly like pattinson here, and the eye makeup was clearly inspired by the film.

Do you think that bruce visits joker just to talk to him sometimes? I mean, not to question him on a case he thinks joker is part of.
Kinda like the deleted scene on batman 2022 where he asks joker for advice and genuinely wants to hear his intake on things.
I think that would be kind of nice, seeing bruce and joker having a casual conversation while on arkham
I'm not very inclined towards fluffier versions of Batjokes tbh, so I might not be the right person to ask this... Personally I don't see Bruce doing that in the comics. There's a lot of instances in which he goes to Arkham to talk to Joker, but it's always for a reason; and a lot of the times, violence is involved. The exception to this is the beginning of The Killing Joke, and poor Joker didn't even experience that, since it was an impostor Bruce talked to back then.
But there's softer versions of Bruce out there that might do this-- like in The Batman (2022), like you said. If this is something you enjoy, there's always stuff to work with!

Robin Chronology
??? Anyways so about a year into Batman we get this guy:
Tumblr media
Dick Grayson, most iconic robin, anyways next robin-like character we get is Roberta the Girl Wonder
Tumblr media
She lasts a single issue. A few years later it’s revealed that Bruce was the first Robin
Tumblr media
Then Lance Bruner gets adopted by Bruce due to an arrangement the Bruners had with the Waynes. He dies in his debut appearance
Tumblr media
and then in just over a year, Jimmy tries to prove a point so he becomes the next Robin
Tumblr media
and after all that basically the next things basically stay the same like the next circus boy, who tried a different costume and different names before having Dick’s blessing to use the name
Tumblr media
wait that isn’t canon anymore? uhh anyways the next robin hates rich people. Wait you’re telling me that that didn’t happen, so well anyways what apparently happens is this next robin
Next Robin is this dork
Tumblr media
so things are going fine but then in a ridiculously convoluted plot happens that really should’ve treated this next Robin better.
Tumblr media
So anyways Tim’s back as Robin, but now super duper depressed which makes the super white boy all angsty. But enough about him because the new robin is about to be introduced Batman’s biological son raised as an assassin.
Tumblr media
Before the next more official guys, there was a Batman Impostor named  Charles Nigaff who had a group called Batman’s Soldiers which consisted of Krunch, La Loca, Bookworm, and 3 Robins
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right before the next thing is some weird Scarecrow plot so the next Robin is kinda Selina. But anyways it was all mind tricks and illusions apparently
Tumblr media
then there’s the We Are Robin movement
Tumblr media
then they introduced the “first robin” but either way she’s at least the second (cause Bruce was the first)
Tumblr media
there’s also Jarro
Tumblr media
and Carrie Kelly was set up for Something in main Earth but apparently plans fell through and then there’s Maps Mizoguchi
Tumblr media
there’s also the multiverse, alt timelines and alt future versions

Did Joker make AK! Jason exercise?
Going by Arkham Knight: Genesis canon, yes. He'd have to be physically fit to take down the pair of Batman impostors on his own after Joker has held him prisoner for over 2 years. And in the next issue we see him sprinting as he tries to escape. He's barely even fazed when Deathstroke shoots him in the shoulder.
Jay's in much worse shape in my Arkhamverse canon (of course he is. Gotta have that delicious angst!) Joker starves him, and keeps his ankle broken. He likes his boy toy to be a weak and defenseless puppy following at his heels 🤡

re: that hc thing
broose
omg yes sorry this took me a while to compile
1. realistic headcanon: I think bruce as a person has senior-citizen type hobbies. he collects gray ghost memorabilia that he will never allow anything to touch. collects international stamps maybe. scale models? his public image is that of an eternal night out on the town but I think he really enjoys his quiet time in moderately lit rooms. like hey girl thanks for coming to my party wait do NOT touch that the glue is still drying
2. unrealistic but funny: despite having an immensely cultured palate from his global travels I think his comfort food is some basic british dish alfred made for him when he was younger that no one else enjoys but the two of them
3. heart-crushing but fun: this is getting specific but as soon as I read The Impostor and saw it mentioned that he had ocd I’m running with it. that’s something that would have developed with him throughout childhood and I can absolutely see his parents’ deaths as an actualization of the fears you’d experience with that. like. they came true. The Bad Thing Happened seemingly as a result of whatever imagined responsibility he failed to carry out. which is why I believe that being batman, in part, is a push-and-pull compulsion as a result of that moment because if he doesn’t go out and do his self-delegated duty, it will happen again—and worse—to someone else.
4. unrealistic but I reject canon: to me bruce is ace. which means I have the hc that his status as a notorious playboy is comprised entirely of people inviting themselves to stay the night, bruce allowing it under the public eye, and as soon as they’re alone together whipping out however-many-hundred bucks it takes to ask them to leave out the back and tell everyone what a wild night they had with him. at this point the stories about him are completely out of his hands. people will come up to bruce hinting at some insane thing he did and he just has to nod like he knows and hope it’s not that bad (probably is)
thank you for asking nova this was so much fun <3

Synopsis: Red Robin has travelled to Amsterdam following the trail of a group of assassins known as the Council of Spiders. As soon as he locates them, he is forced to fight against their members: Funnel, Goliah and Wolf. Red Robin stands battle against them knowing that he counts with the Insider to appear at the right moment and deal with them. However, what Red Robin didn't expect was the arrival of Prudence to the fight. Knowing that their plan could fail due to her intrusion, the Insider jumps into the fight disarming Prudence and approaches the group of assassins to teleport them away from the scene. Left alone with Prudence, Red Robin takes her away from the street that was quickly filling with prying eyes to a place where they can talk without concern. Red Robin learns that Prudence followed the same trail of assassins that he did and she wanted to help stop them. However, as they talk, Prudence sends a text message to an unknown person without telling Robin.
At that moment in Gotham City, Vicki Vale goes to Wayne Manor and request to talk to Bruce. Alfred reminds her that she just talked to Bruce the night before, but when she tells him that she knows that man was an impostor, Alfred lets her into the house. Vicki tries to get Alfred to talk by revealing all the information she knows about Batman and the Waynes, even showing to him the tracer that Dick placed on her camera. Alfred explains to her that Bruce was believed to be dead, and the revelation causes her to spill the cup of tea that Alfred had reached her. Alfred approaced her and started cleaning up the spilled tea, but as he leaned over the sofa, he retrieved the tracer and put it away without Vicki realizing that she had just lost her only proof. Alfred then explains that Bruce is alive and well and that he should be back in Gotham very soon. Vicki threatens to use this information to reveal the truth, but Alfred tells her that he would simply deny it. Angry at the lack of results, Vivki leaves Wayne Manor with the intention of analize the tracer that she doesn't know isn't in her possession anymore. As she drives away from Wayne Manor, she realizes that in order to prove the truth, she would need to find someone who had discovered Batman's real identity before her.
In the meantime, the Insider is at the Council of Spider's base of Operations in Amsterdam and he is taken to meet their leader, Webmaster Silk. The Insider introduces himself to the woman as an ispiring assassin who wants to join the group and in order to test him, he must resist an spider bite in his arm. Bruce, having vaccinated against any spider venom, takes the test and becomes a member. However, his first mission is to kill Red Robin.
Red Robin was waiting outside Amsterdam's city hall, expecting an attack from the Council when he is attacked by the Insider and they start a staged fight to eliminate any suspicions. The battle intensifies and Tim understands that Bruce wants to test him, so he fights back with all his ability. While they are fighting, Prudence starts taking down the other members of the Council one by one. She uses a taser to stun Funnel and use some of her poisons to attack Goliath. Wolf is reached by one of Insider's attacks and when almost all of them are eliminated, Red Robin and Insider knock out Goliath.
Red Robin and Bruce watch as Prudence leaves and they head back to their hotel in Amsterdam. After a brief conversation, Bruce informs Tim that he is next going to contact the Outsiders, since the team was under his supervision before his departure and now the whole group is broken and scattered.
At the airport, Prudence talks to someone with her cellphone and informs about her recent encounter with Tim and his mysterious new partner. As she hangs the phone, the man on the line stabs a man with a sword, killing him and revealing his identity as Ra's al Ghul, who has deduced that Tim's new partner is in fact Bruce Wayne and is anxious to meet him again.
