Human Husbandry Guide For Vampires
A guide on how to take care of your human friends, lover, and minions for vampires that are out of touch with humanity. (Disclaimer: this is not a hunting guide, this is for humans you intend to keep alive and healthy. See our companion book for hunting humans.)
Humans will not disintegrate in sunlight, and can be used for errands during the daytime. However their skin can still take damage on especially sunny days. Make sure they wear the proper protection cream if needed.
Humans can not be sustained on blood, and have much more varied diets than us. Most can forage for food themselves, but make sure to keep at least a little human food in your lair. (Note: human food can expire, canned foods, dried foods, and honey are recommended for long term storage)
Humans must bathe regularly to keep healthy and clean. Most can handle this themselves if given the proper facilities, but some might need reminders or persuasion if in a poor emotional state. Try to refrain from using hypnosis unless absolutely necessary to keep the humans trust.
Humans are much more delicate than us, and can not reliably survive long falls or extreme force. Refrain from doing anything too dangerous with your humans unless you're a skilled necromancer.
Humans can only lose about 14% of their blood before their health declines. Make sure not to feed on them for too long or else they will require a transfusion. Space out your feedings to every few days and help them recover afterwards. (Note: it is recommended that you either feed on multiple humans or drain one that is not yours between feedings to keep yourself well feed)
Most humans do not react well to death and gore even if they understand the nature of vampires. Make sure to keep your humans out of the room when you drain someone and dispose of the leftovers, unless they have stated they are comfortable with it.
Humans are social creatures that cannot withstand decades of solitude like us. Even the most independent of humans will require a little bit of affirmation. Make sure to regularly converse with your humans and tell them how much you care about them if they seem unhappy. It is also encouraged to keep at least two humans to keep them from getting lonely.
Humans might also require physical affection depending on the nature of your relationship. A human you're romantically involved with will usually respond very positively to cuddling and romantic affection. A human you're friends with might also respond well to physical affection but make sure to learn what they're comfortable with.
Humans can be easily seduced by the allure of vamprism. Ones you have only recently met might already offer themselves as potential blood dolls or fledglings. Make sure to throughly explain the ramifications of these decisions and state your boundaries, in order to prevent future emotional turmoil.
Humans do not have long lifespans, living to around 100 years if not killed. Prepare yourself for the emotional toll of losing a human you're attached to, as not every human will agree to be eventually turned or resurrected as an undead creature. Respect their wishes on this in order to prevent drama or vendettas being formed against you.
Turning a human is a huge commitment you will need to make sure you're prepared for. A fledgling will need a lot of guidance and reassurance once turned, and usually will go through some existential phases. Most won't be ready to be independent until about a decade, but will usually keep in touch if they don't stay with you. (See our Empty Coffin Syndrome book if you struggle with this phase)
Thank you for reading this excerpt, and congratulations on obtaining your human companion. Humans can improve the mental well-being of their vampiric companions and help them with their dark bidding if needed, even against their own kind. Plenty of humans will willingly betray their fellow man in return for vampiric companionship, and possibly make good potential fledglings. Our full book can be found at any cursed bookstore or dark library you can find, or that will find you.

Venting-
When I hear people give the advice that writing is never a waste of time if you’re having fun or you should never feel like a story was a waste of time, you should enjoy the process. This advice I believe is real and true and works for some writers. But at the same time, there are writers who are very stressed when writing and feel better about their work when it’s finished. Not the “I enjoy having written.” But the “I have crippling anxiety and can only tell if my time, effort, and semi-breakdowns were worth something if I complete what I set out to do.”
Not to diminish anyone who agrees or resonates with the first statement, I admire those people a lot and wish I was calm enough to feel the same.
in my years of teaching and coaching, i've noticed there are two kinds of writers: "process" writers and "product" writers. rather, there exists a spectrum from one to the other.
on the process side, you have writers who reach a flow state fairly easily, who can become immersed in a world or idea of their own invention, and they write in large part to seek that immersive state. the end of a project seems more like a tragedy than an achievement because it marks the loss of the immersive state, and it will take energy and discipline and happenstance to find the next. i've also noticed that it becomes harder rather than easier to find that state over time; the more projects you finish, the fewer ideas appeal to you in the same way.
conversely, product writers get to feel that sense of achievement upon completing a project that process writers may lack, and that pleasure is worth the pain and turmoil of the act of creating something. product writing takes a lot of strength, patience, and discipline i think, to do something hard for the reward of having done it. it's the difference between an athlete and a surgeon. a person becomes an athlete for love of the sport, the act of playing. winning is important, but they wouldn't be able to win without first finding joy in the game. a surgeon, on the other hand, probably doesn't get into the job for the fun of operating. the fulfillment is in the operation's success; it's hard work with high risk. but the reward of saving or improving lives is worth it.
admittedly as a process writer it's always been hard for me to wrap my head around product writers. not only do i not have the patience to seek a sense of achievement, i think i'm mostly incapable of relishing any reward at all unless the reward is in the pursuit itself. looking back, i can't think of any single moment i've ever felt a sense of success. but also i've always struggled with concepts like ambition and competition. i've never had any drive to win anything, but also i've never felt much when i lose or fail. sometimes i wish those things mattered more to me, because then i would be a more driven and decisive person, and i'd be more successful in my career.
i know i'm on the extreme end of the process-product divide, and that colors a lot of my perspective of teaching and mentoring. but i think writers can shift on the spectrum depending on where they're at in their writing life or even with whatever project they're working on. i've been trying to have a more product-based mentality recently to at least develop the skill of shifting to the other side when i need to, so that i can get the patience and focus to write a novel that is not just me plopping my heart onto the page and hoping somebody out there cares. product writers have an easier time convincing other people of the value of their story, because the value of the story is a big reason why they write it. a purely product writer, like the surgeon, writes something because they feel that thing needs to exist in the world. meanwhile the only way for a purely process writer to be professionally successful is to happen by sheer coincidence to find an immersive state that also crosses with the interests of the current market. like the athlete, success involves training, hard work, and being at the right place at the right time. sure, churning out 100k words in a couple months and having a blast while doing it is great, but it comes from this wild inner place that can't really be controlled; meanwhile product writers can take that wildness and intentionally shape it into something. when you're feeling jealous of the other side, though, it's important to remember that both the meadow and the garden are equally beautiful.

This obviously would never happen in SW canon, but like ... I can't help but love the idea of Count Dooku just continously attempting to convince Obi-Wan to "join the Darkside."
Not for like, potential Sith!Obi-Wan purposes, but for just the sheer comedy of Dooku finding increasingly ridiculous ways to spend time with his grandpadawan grandson on the battlefield, all under the very thin veneer of trying to convert Obi-Wan to the Sith's cause.
Idk just the mental image of Sith Lord Palpatine and Dooku sharing a holocall, and Mr. Sheev is all like:
**Sidious: My apprentice, Kenobi has already turned down your generous offer to join us in our crusade against the Jedi. Why do you continue to toil after him while he clings to the corrupt ideals of his wretched Order?
Dooku: My Lord, Master Kenobi is among the few noble opponents to our righetous cause as well as a potential assest I feel we would be remiss to ignore. While he is indeed intrenched in the mires of the childish idealism of his fellow Jedi, I have sensed great turmoil within him. A turmoil which, if exploited properly, could potentially stoke the flame of awakening that you, my Lord, instilled within me.
Dooku: The longer this war continues, the more Master Kenobi will see through the hypocrisy of the Code he has sworn himself to. I sense that with time, he will cease his meaningless repudiations of the truths of which I have envailed to him, and will thus join us as yet another avatar of the Dark Side's will.
Sidious (not buying it one second but completely resigned to the fact that Dooku will continue purusing this anyway): ... very well.**
Meanwhile, Obi-Wan is getting increasingly confused as to the direction Count Dooku's "tactics" have been going. Dooku never stops, of course, being his hypocritical ass self, and continues to give his extremely opinionated takes on the "failings of the Jedi Order."
But overtime, they'll be locked in a deadly duel and Dooku will just randomly inquire what type of tea is Obi-Wan's favorite and if he'd ever be interested in sitting down together sometime to debate over the philosophical differences amongst various Force wielding cultures and the like.
Obi-Wan, naturally, does not allow himself to fall for this farce of an inquiry into his personal interests. Clearly, the Count is simply trying a new (and completely unorthodox) approach in attempt to throw off Obi-Wan's guard. Surely, this new more "sentimental" Dooku is going for is merely a ploy and nothing more?
Although, he did seem quite genuine in his interest. For what reason, Obi-Wan has absoutely no idea.
Cue several months worth of "coincidental" clashes between Obi-Wan and Dooku, the former seemingly aware of where Obi-Wan will be regardless of how well the Jedi Master goes to hide his whereabouts. The GAR and Jedi Council, obviously, find these "coincidences" to be highly suspicious and concerning. Obi-Wan does as well, but he can't help but try to think of potential ways they could use Count Dooku's painfully obvious interest in him to their advantage.
Nobody (besides Yoda-because of course he would) quite understands Obi-Wan's growing humor with the whole situation, but they can't deny that he has a point.
Anakin can't stop being annoyed that Dooku won't stop dismissing him, but conceeds that he'd prefer the contempt the Sith Lord has for him over whatever the weird quasi-familial relationship that his Master seems to be forming with the traitorous Sith.
Ahsoka doesn't understand much of what's going on either, but she sort of gets where Obi-Wan is coming from. If there's a way that they can keep Count Dooku's focus on one target and away from the rest of their campaign, then surely that's something they should at least try? But, yeah, it is really really weird how amused/excited Obi-Wan seems about the prospect of being Sith bait yet again.
Cody would just like one campaign where he doesn't have to witness his General engaged in a violent physical and verbal spar over where Obi-Wan's loyalties should lie. It would also be amazing if his General would stop making jokes about the Count kidnapping him one day and serving him vintage Serreno wine in his prison cell.

I'd listen to you ramble about Sunstreaker. Because I know nothing about him but you seem to like him and that made me curious.
hi i am so terribly sorry to be replying so late, mental health is a bitch lately but heres my questionably comprehensive rambling about Sunstreaker
He's a very simple character compared to like majority of main autobots from g1, he's a vain pretty boy who thinks he's better and prettier than everyone around him, which is not even exactly untrue, but you're not really gonna go and tell him he's wrong. it's been a staple of his persona throughout all the stories he's appeared in to my knowledge. my interest especially arose when he was a central piece of some idw comics.
i made a whole small piece of writing about him months back, but essentially, what i gathered from very little he has in a whole scope of things, is that he was not a good person. period. he was a law enforcer who fancied watching mechs fight to death. he wanted to join megatron on the arena. he's lavishing in the limelight and he's not unwilling to stomp down anyone who doesn't meet his expectations. that "someone" happened to be his own brother who stopped him from joining megatron.
i always find sibling dramas interesting for personal reasons, and i relate to sunstreaker a lot as a person who had to learn to grow and be better, not just everyone but my sibling first. sunstreaker underwent an extremely traumatic experience that was worse than death - but you could also consider it the death of "Him" as a person. he was merged with a species completely unlike his own. he was forced to be connected to the copies of him while immobilized and in pain. he begged to be killed only to be forcefully saved.
his grudge against humanity is understandable, and his betrayal was something that could've been the end of his dignity. he was ready to accept death in self-sacrifice, still in pain and turmoil over what he had done to his team, to his brother.
he's the kind of character who you aren't supposed to really like. he's not a good person, even if his intentions are for the better - he's doing it to stroke his ego, the autobot cause is not what he ultimately fights for, or fought, at least how i see it. compared to his brother, though, who's there just to fight decepticons because they're "bad guys", i think Sunstreaker saw the lines between "bad" and "good" more blurry. He almost became a decepticon. He was regularly cruel to his brother. He values his self more than others.
Then he had to grow to understand He is not where the world ends. He always cared for Sideswipe, he always cared for people around him, but it took him to almost die, almost risk everyone dying, to understand, and it sucks.
He's a martyr to me in a way that he endures all his heavy self and burdens when trying to be better while world will never be the safe place to him. He gets a service dog about it.
Anyway i think his design is also one of the coolest things ever have you seen him

Things happen for a reason
I watched it a few days ago and I have a few words to say about Namjoon and his KBS TV interview... when they discussed Jin’s enlistment I was touched by the authenticity Joon showed when he said Jin (being the elder brother) told him he’d go and experience it first and then let them know what it’s like. And I immediately think of Jin’s astronaut floating through space alone to explore uncharted territory for them (tears again).
Tumblr media
When Joon explained the attempt to balance regular Kim Namjoon who likes to read and look at paintings, with the stage persona of RM, who performs in front of 60,000 people, it made me think of when he and Jimin were in the car on their way to the AMAs last year. Joon said something about this red carpet stuff as being awkward and something to the effect that celebrities enjoy the circus that goes with these award shows. Which seems to be true. Jimin said we are not celebrities, (therefore they don’t enjoy this sort of stuff) they are just Park Jimin and Kim Namjoon. The two philosophers...smh. But Jimin was basically being honest. The separation is real for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[We know much more about Kim Namjoon these days but do we really KNOW the real regular guy, Park Jimin? Predicting a very long post in the future.]
You know, (criticism of the k-pop industry’s extreme practices notwithstanding) here in the west, we hear of young artists who experience fame and fortune at a young age and who are also trying to grow up in the spotlight and many times they crash and burn, become addicted to drugs or alcohol and/or suffer mental health issues when they can’t handle the extreme pressure placed on them. The members of BTS all experienced this extreme pressure and sometimes were overwhelmed. But they were lucky enough to have a support system with each other and their company to get them through this period. As Joon said, with Jin’s enlistment, the page is turned on this chapter of BTS.
He also mentions that the timing couldn’t be better for this period of BTS because the team is very strong and Army trusts BTS. Just that statement reminds me that I fully believe in “things happen for a reason” and that all the turmoil and grief of the last 3 years was a time that strengthened them as individuals which allowed them to focus on what they wanted for their future. The timing is better now than it would have been at the end of 2020 had the pandemic never happened, had Jin enlisted then...we wouldn’t have Dynamite or Butter or BE or the Permission to Dance concerts.
Joon has been very forthcoming and honest, very REAL, these last few weeks. I am grateful to him.
Here is the entire KBS interview with English subs.
Joon’s Rolling Hall live performance: Paul Blanco and Youjeen blew me away with their voices. The intimacy of the venue, the fact there were no cell phones and no army bombs... just like back in the day when you had to watch with your eyes, listen with your ears or else miss it. I enjoyed it very much. And everything else he’s done to promote Indigo has been outstanding and a breath of fresh air.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, hey, hey, hey!  Run BTS episodes now having their own playlist on BangtanTV (Youtube). Very convenient and easy to find, easy to watch. THANK YOU!
Tumblr media
(But also low key suspicious they are trying to keep us distracted because something’s coming.)

Iba Hachiro- Character Behaviour Analysis
Yandere: A character, who has an obsessive and possessive side in regards to their crush, ready to use violent and murderous means to maintain an exclusive bond.
I think there is a lot of misunderstanding in regards to many characters which makes sense because of the numerous adaptations with canon changing each time but Iba Hachiro’s case is interesting because he has only one canon- the two main games Edo Blossoms and Kyoto Winds.
I'll try to explain why Iba is not a yandere/psychopathic/gaslighting/manipulating/lying man (I have read all of these adjectives being used to describe him and it’s really upsetting...).
Following are the reasons I came up with when having a discussion with a fellow server member and I thought I’d share them here to let others like me know that you’re not crazy or gaslighted by him for liking him...
1. He is completely missable if you don't pick his first two romance options. Yanderes do not give up, whereas Iba stops coming around if you don't remember him. He moves on. Something he would not have done if he was obsessed and was chasing Chizuru around.
2. You meet him again in other story paths and he does not talk beyond formality to you.
3. He stopped coming around and they grew distant as children as is wont to happen naturally. If he was deeply in love, that wouldn't have happened. They lived in the same city. His training would not have consumed his every day, every hour as he was still a child. He would have plenty of opportunities to come around.
4. Iba is not possessive at all. Kazama is actually the only possessive romance option afaik. Iba encourages you to look at other shinsengumi men because they're his friends too.
Tumblr media
and politely asks you to wait a little bit so he at least has a chance. That seems very fair to me and he does not hint even once that if she does choose someone else, he will act crazy to obtain Chizuru instead of them.
When she does choose someone else, Souma in this case, he is supportive first and then naturally acts protective over a dear friend.
Tumblr media
5. He pays attention to Chizuru's inner turmoil, very similar to Harada and Saito. When you pick the option to reluctantly leave the shinsengumi in chapter 5, he interrupts Hijikata (which is interesting since his dedication to Hijikata is on Yamazaki and Saito’s level) to say that knowing Chizuru’s wishes is important even when Hijikata scolds him for confusing Chizuru, and asks Chizuru if she really wants to leave. When she says no, he puts a rock on his own heart and let's her stay even though it is making him extremely worried knowing she'd be in the centre of a battlefield.
6. Actually cares for her mental well being by taking her out of the headquarters and by giving her new experiences like trying new sweets, taking walks to new areas, etc.
7. He wanted to kill himself for letting his demon arm control him. The man was seriously depressed of what he was doing to Chizuru when all he wanted was to make her happy.
7.1 He was literally asking her to leave him because he is unable to keep her safe. In an abusive relationship, such as with a yandere, possession is the ultimate goal. You don't ask for what you covet to leave you.
8. He is not gaslighting or manipulating Chizuru: He only brings up the past in about three instances and none of them are put in a way that is to gaslight her. They are always either in regards to her power or to explain why he feels protective of her. He never uses it to force her to feel a certain way about him.
9. He has not been obsessed with her for over a decade and did not train and become a warrior only for her: If that was the case he would not treat her with as much formality as he does on your non-romance paths. Their relationship would have always been on the front for him. He takes his Okuzume duties very seriously as his bushido is just as important to him as it is to the shinsengumi men. He is basically a shinsengumi warrior who couldn't be in the shinsengumi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10. The nostalgia he holds for Chizuru makes sense since he is only 19 when you meet him. Chizuru is about 16-17. They had only 2-3 years between them. Since he was older, he would remember it better than Chizuru does and obviously think deeply upon the person who pushed him to go train. I have no doubt he would have picked up the katana at some point in his life, being the heir to one of the biggest dojo, but when he did it wasn’t out of a sense of filial duty, it was to protect a close friend. We all remember the reason or the person we were pushed onto our path in life. For him, it was Chizuru.
10.1 He is not lying or gaslighting Chizuru about her past: He cannot be lying about her bullying and healing powers because up until the game begins, Chizuru's powers are her best kept secret. How could he have known about them, if he wasn’t there when it happened? Not to mention, her recalling the past happens from her perspective. I feel like people take away Chizuru’s agency and treat her like an idiot when it comes to her own mind (I’ve seen this happen when people discuss Harada’s romance too). She isn’t a genius but she’s not a donkey either.
11. Chizuru's suppressed memories: in Kazama's route we learn what happened at Chizuru's village when she was a kid: the fire, killing, kidnapping etc. was a traumatising event. Being attacked with stones by bullies who call you monster is another traumatising event that happened only a few years later. Chizuru has had a traumatising past and it makes sense for her to forget a big chunk of her childhood, which would include forgetting the people she met, like Hachiro and replace it with a more familiar person like her father.
12. In regards to him being a "white knight": Firstly, why is being a white knight a bad thing? Secondly, that's literally his job. He is a samurai. They are sworn to their lords and a samurai's behaviour reflects upon the lord they serve. He is an okuzume which means he is directly connected to his lord i.e the shogun. If he is not behaving knightly, he is failing at his job. Not to mention, he is extremely sensitive and empathetic. He holds his values very close to his heart and believes in treating everyone with respect, despite his privilaged, noble upbringing. Being a bystander to injustices goes extremely against his nature and lifestyle.
13. Wearing his heart on his sleeve does not make him weak: I think a reason people dislike Hachiro is because he is very open about his feelings from the start. Somehow, his honesty is his problem...? I have seen the more cryptic love options like Kazama, Saito, Hijikata and Okita being more popular than the more open and honest ones like Harada, Iba and Sakamoto. Perhaps it is a preference but being openly vulnerable shows a different type of strength and it should be respected, imo.
14. He respects her wishes: He could sense Chizuru was not ready for sex yet and he respects it, even in his drunken state. Even when you choose to deny him, he is not passive aggressive. Again, yanderes/abusers/gaslighters don't do that. They would get offended and make you feel bad or scared of them.
Tumblr media
Side note: I don't think Hachiro was ‘in love’ with Chizuru as a child. One can’t truly understand love at the age of 7-8. He uses the older brother honorific for himself in the first few interactions we have with him and only afterwards (chapter 2 iirc) that he stops using it, showing the transition from the childhood friend/older brother to a grown man who wants to court a woman.

It's flu season. How would they live through the sickness + would they take care of each other? Bonus: how did they survive the pancemic / quarantine situations?
you know the funny thing is the only time i’ve ever had the flu (which was miserable and lasted a full week WITH the vaccine already in my system so remember to ALWAYS KEEP UP WITH YOUR SHOTS) i had been into lupin for about a yearish, and i watched fuma AND napoleon’s dictionary in one night to pass the time and only at that moment did i truly understand the. variety of animation quality present in the lupin the third franchise. i can still taste that medicine in my mouth whenever i see either of them. but anyway
lupin:
lupin has two sick modes: not feeling too peachy but will act like he’s dying to exploit special treatment and being pampered, and actually very, very sick, but will deny he’s that sick because he feels weird having people truly, honestly, sincerely worried for him.
would he take care of others? well. yes. not in a very tender way, but he doesn’t want them DYING at least. like, if jigen is bundled up on the couch, red nosed, blanket over his head, and pathetically asks for the remote, lupin will get up and give it to him, but he’s not holding his hair back when he’s vomming lol. he WILL offer a hairtie though. you see? it’s about that level of care. you’ll be far from miserable, but in all honesty, he COULD do more
would you believe people standing multiple feet away from you in a museum makes it twice as easy to plant secret tracking devices and tiny bombs and shit? would you believe? would you believe masks made facial recognition tech twice as easy to crack since most people turned it off anyway? WOULD YOU BELIEVE?
jigen:
jigen feels this weird defensive embarrassment about being sick. people like jigen don’t GET sick. or so they all tell themselves. so when he’s actually like, SICK sick, miserable and nauseous and coughing, it bothers him MENTALLY more than it does PHYSICALLY
as a result he doesn’t want people taking care of him. it’s going to happen anyway, usually from lupin, so he doesn’t waste energy fighting, but he’ll only barely acknowledge the fact he’s the picture of death right now
his usual personality is in full play when he’s taking care of someone ELSE though. you’re only getting the help if you beg or if he can immediately tell you’re going through it, but if you DO get his help, he’s going to talk and talk and talk about how you KNOW better than to hang around after someone tells you to your face they’ve been sick. you’re lucky he gives enough of a damn to get you the big stack of tissues with the special lotion in them so you don’t rub your stupid nose raw. you’re welcome btw,
fujiko:
oh the emotional turmoil of being “too perfect to get sick” but also LOVING getting whatever you want under the guise of “please? i’m sick :(“ it's so hard to be her. so difficult to have her lavish life
fujiko is not. the most doting person. you wanna talk about someone who will just stand in the next room over while you’re hunched over a toilet bowl all pitiful and green in the face. it’s not that she doesn’t care! she just. would rather never ever ever see that shit lol
fujiko’s usual targets are selfish, hateful, yet unbearably idiotic and easy to manipulate. so… she kinda loved when covid was at its full peak, because she got an IMMEDIATE visual shorthand for who was deserving of her sugar baby schemes. ESPECIALLY if they constantly made a big deal about how they refused to mask up. so… yeah, made her life incredibly easy!
goemon:
actually gets the sick the most out of them because he forces his body to withstand extremes that NOBODY’S BODY SHOULD REALLY BE WITHSTANDING. gets the flu almost every year despite getting shots and the like, but he survives.
all of them WOULD take care of him, but he rejects the help. it’s not fully a pride thing; he’s heard many times that you heal faster by working your body as normal, so it can readjust quicker. but… he doesn’t really question why they’ve already got some warm soup lightly simmering on the stove so it doesn’t get cold before he pours himself a bowl, or why they just HAPPENED to have the nausea medicine right on the coffee table…
the same “get better faster by getting off your ass” technique is in full swing when he’s watching OVER somebody sick though, so… very much a tough love approach. but if you act even a smidgeon MORE miserable during the process you might get him to back down a tiny bit
zenigata:
(sticking the DO NOT EMULATE sticker on his forehead again) zenigata could stand sopping wet in negative degree weather with the patient 0 covid guy standing right in front of him, breathing right into his nose, and there’s ONLY a 50% chance he’ll actually get sick. and even if he does get sick, IT WON’T STOP HIM IN THE SLIGHTEST.
zenigata is weird because if he’s taking care of one of the gang, first he gets this HAHA IDIOT YOU SHOULD’VE KNOWN YOU’D GET SICK but when they actually start paling and getting weak he’s like “oh my god you lost a shit ton of electrolytes. we need some gatorade” so once you get past that initial gloating stage he’s not bad. just. very overwhelming, as he usually is
gets touchy about being taken care of depending on who the caretaker in question is. for 85% of people, he’s brushing off the help, insisting he’ll be back on his feet, and really, you shouldn’t hang around him either or you might catch it too. but if it’s somebody who’s already seen him drunkenly sobbing over the smallest act of kindness or quite literally jumping out of windows in a lupin-filled blind rage then. yeah, he’s a little more accepting of the help.

Long Road - Change
Beginning || Previous || Next
Marinette landed along the bank of the Seine on the outskirts of the city. She collapsed on the ground into a heap of tears. She fought against the onslaught of thoughts that consumed her. The realizations that she shouldn’t have run and should have stayed. That she needed to put an end to her mental and emotional torment. That she needed to move on.
“Where was this before?” Marinette yelled.
            “Where was what?” Mylene asked.
Marinette jumped and looked towards the water. Mylene poked her head up along with a set of blue and white dragon wings.
            “Mylene? What are you doing?”
            “Hiding from Ivan.”
            “What? Why? What happened?”
“He’s been falling to Orikko’s influence and has been extremely angry as of late. When I try to talk to him, he turns it into a shouting match. Then Longg gets involved and that’s a bigger mess. So, I just removed me and Longg from the situation.”
Marinette grimaced. “Have you told any others?”
“No. I don’t think it would be a good idea. I believe if I told the girls, they may confront him and make things worse. I want to avoid that, if possible, but it may be too late.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Well, I can’t hide forever. I’ll have to eventually confront him and break up with him.”
A long pause. “You don’t have many options, do you?”
Mylene sighed. “I wish I did. I try to talk with him, to have a civil conversation, but he just ignores me and wants to yell. I don’t want that. And I know as long as he has Orikko, then it’ll be that way. I hate to do it, but yeah, what other option do I really have?”
“That’s… that’s a lot like me,” Marinette admitted.
            “What’s happened to Adrien?”
“Not Adrien. Me. Like how Ivan is feeling Orikko’s influence, I am feeling Gimmi’s influence. I no longer see things through rose-tinted glasses. I’m not blinded, but rather see reality for what it is. Amongst that is everything about Adrien. Not knowing the real him, my obsession that took over me, everything. Now I can’t bear to talk to him, and know what I need to do, but I’m not ready.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. I know you… I know you at least cared.”
“You’re not going to tell me to keep pushing through or something like that?”
Mylene shook her head. “I’m seeing the other end of it. Ivan is a little obsessive over me that’s very much bordering on possessive as well. I don’t like it. I feel like I’m suffocating every moment I’m with him. I know what I need to do, but I’m terrified how he’ll react. But the longer I let this go on, the more I suffer.”
Marinette shrank back. Mylene had a point. Even if her situation was vastly different, there were similarities. She needed to do the right thing. She needed to end things to end her turmoil, but not just her. Her and Mylene needed to change things.
“Why don’t we do this together?” Marinette suggested.
            “What do you mean?”
“We’re both scared of what we need to do, but we can’t suffer or allow the other to suffer as well. Something has to give. So, why don’t we do this together? I’ll be with you when you end it with Ivan, and you be with me when I end it with Adrien. What do you say?”
Mylene considered and smiled. Her wings beat, disturbing the water. She flew up onto the walkway and de-transformed. She pulled out a dragon fruit for Longg.
“Let Longg recharge. I may need a different form when we face Ivan,” Mylene said.
“May I suggest fire form? Set his world on fire?” Longg remarked.
            Mylene deadpanned. “No.”
Longg and Mylene argued about the best form to take. Marinette watched when she realized she still didn’t know her powers. She de-transformed and faced Gimmi.
“What are my powers?” Marinette asked.
“Huh? Oh, right. Uh, all powers.”
            “What?” Marinette asked.
“See, I am reality. I am everything that is, was, and will be. So, all powers are yours. You need only select which you’ll use. You know, say, ‘Arsenal, Teleportation.’ And like that, you can teleport, but that’s all you can do during that transformation. To change it, I’ll need to recharge.”
“Is it like the rooster’s old powers that it could be any power except what the other kwami concepts are?”
“No. It includes the other concepts.”
            Marinette’s jaw dropped.
“So, could Marinette do what I do? Shift forms and control nature?” Mylene asked.
            “Yes,” Gimmi answered.
“Woah! That’s amazing, Marinette!” Mylene exclaimed.
“What about your weapon, Gimmi?” Longg asked.
            “Any,” Gimmi answered.
            “Lucky bitch,” Longg remarked.
Marinette and Mylene’s eyes widened as they stared at the kwamis.
“Perhaps better to not let the warmongers have access to more deadly weapons. You’d only bring more violence with you,” Gimmi remarked.
Longg hummed. “I’ve heard that before. Where oh where? Oh! That’s right. Velze.”
Gimmi frowned. “I’m not Velze. I’m Gimmi.”
“Right. Sure, you are, shell of Velze.”
Gimmi glowered and turned away. “Let’s get this over with.”
“Right. Are you ready, Mylene?” Marinette asked.
“As ready as I can be?”
Marinette smiled and took Mylene’s hand. “We can do this. Together.”
Mylene squeezed Marinette’s hand. “Together. Longg, ascension.”
            “Gimmi, sing.”

The handlers having a break outside for whatever reason.
Shuen having a combination of high stamina and high pain toleration and being too stubborn for her own good means she can put up with a lot. Shuen's parents always insisted she wasn't trying hard enough when she fucked up, so Shuen's mentality turned into "okay then, I guess I can't tap out until this is Shitshow Supreme™" which just made things worse, and debt from one of Shuen's Shitshow Supremes is why she is a mech pilot.
It is a terrible mix with Balik who is careless and impatient and easily frustrated, which leads to more carelessness. I don't think Balik passed training by a comfortable margin.......
Tumblr media
The delicate balance between vulnerability and power in being a pilot is heeehhoougghhh
One the one hand, 10m tall rocket-powered death machine.
On the other hand, extreme vulnerability caused by all the augments and drugs used to make it happen. TRUSTING SOMEONE WITH MACHINERY ATTACHED TO YOUR BRAIN.
Tumblr media
Balik and Shuen are a bad pairing, but not bad enough to make the commander swap them out. Or at least not bad enough yet...
Shuen is a little envious of Temir having Kergat as the two of them vibe a lot better. Also Kergat is hot (though Kergat does not particularly enjoy being hit on in a professional setting).
Kergat doesn't want to manage two pilots at once at this point in her career. I don't think multi-pilot handling is very gainful in the military (like more work for a minimal raise). Mercenary handlers are more likely to do it because they get paid on commission so it's more profitable to send out more pilots to more jobs.
Headhunting another handler's pilot is kind of a faux pas.
Though Balik probably would not mind shunting Shuen to someone else and getting someone more like Ibarra.
Clark also would not swap with Balik. Shuen being 50 pounds lighter than Ibarra and less likely to be totally zonked out after a sortie would be great for Clark's back pain, but Clark prefers older pilots because he thinks younger folks have too much emotional turmoil.

Lilium could almost hear her teeth audibly grind together as she stacked yet another book on the growing mountain surrounding her. Her illuminated wand scoured the spines above her, trying to see if there was anything close to what she needed. The only answer she received was silence that had been broken by an audible groan from the witch.
March 8th, 1893
“Oh come on, it has to be somewhere in all this”
With a swirl of her wand, the books quickly found their respective homes on the empty shelf, her feet dragging her to the next row to start the hunt again. She had been doing this for the past three hours, moving from shelf to shelf, to find one measly book. Lilium had been lucky enough to catch Scribner mid Sebastian scolding. She knew that she would be paying his distraction in full with the rest of her savings for the month in Honeydukes. As close as they wore, his services were never on the cheap side.
What made her visibly shudder would be the scolding Ominis would give to Lilium for, again, getting Sebastian to help her sneak into the library after hours. No matter her reasoning for wanting the place to herself to find such a personal book, Ominous wouldn't hear it. Lilium knew how to get back on his good side though, the two unable to stay upset with each other for longer than thirty minutes.
“Don’t guilt yourself out of here just yet…. Tonight you will find the book.” Her thoughts rose louder than the whispers this time, much to her surprise. It only spurred her on to find the book faster. Luckily, this was the last area she had to look. Over the month Lilium had done her diligence with combing the first floor and restricted section of the library. Sebastian and Ominis had even offered their help to try and find something close, but she always told them it was not a very big deal. Each time the pain of guilt grew in her gut.
Lilium could not tell them they still keep her awake at night, the whispers, the promises of nightmares, seeing Eleazar’s gasping body on the ground. She just told them she needed that book.
For another hour she combed through the rows of books on the second level, each one making her more frustrated and disappointed by the last. “Books of arithmancy and you, how to properly heal an infected niffler bite, how can you prevent unwanted wand explosions. All thrown behind her as she became more frantic from the exhaustion setting into her mind. Her fingers frantically raked over their spines, trying to see if there was some kind of alleviant for all this. Lilium was close to giving up, until she saw one book catch her eye at the end of the walkway, one that had been left on the table, opened somewhere in the middle.
The sight immediately set off alarm bells in her mind, quickly pressing herself against one of the shelves to hide. Has Scribner come back? Lilium was sure in the chaos of throwing books and tomes she would have been heard clearly. Lilium tried to hold her breath, waiting to see if there was any kind of extra noise. A few minutes passed before Lilium gave herself the go ahead, slowly walking towards the book. As she got closer, the first few title words made her quickly race her pacing. Her hands reached out for the book, shaking in excitement and relief.
Alleviates and remedies for the Mind’s Mental Turmoils.
Lilium hugged the thickly bound book close to her chest, the excitement of having something to finally help with the whispers and nightmares so she could finally sleep at night after a month. They had become so loud as of recently, it had been hard to even pay attention in class, which to her was unacceptable enough. But with this, with these hidden secrets, she would be able to truly quiet them for at least a while. There was an issue she had however with this book's placement in the library. From what Lilium had researched herself trying to track this thing down, it was most commonly found in the restricted section.
Why would it be up here?
Lilium knew she did not have a lot of time to stay here to dwell. For now she just wanted to get the book back to the common room and start brewing whatever it asked. Turning on her heel she began to walk down to the opposite side of the upper landing. As she passed a few of the shelves, something else made her take a moment. Her footsteps were not this heavy…. And the room wouldn't echo them to such a degree either.
Both were quick to unsheath their wands, illuminating across the balconies so that they could see each other from the other sides. Lilium nearly dropped her wand as her eyes met his in the expansive distance, his own mirroring her utter shock at seeing him here. Both stood in place, not daring to move before the other. Lilium knew it had been some time since the two were alone in any kind of setting. After the incident with his leg, both had made that silent agreement that some kind of space would be beneficial to… whatever it was that happened at the Yule Ball. Even from this distance, she could see his own nervousness as he searched over her, eyes lingering on the book she hugged tightly against her chest. Yet as much as he trailed over her, they never took long to find her eyes again, every time making her chest feel like it had caught fire.
Without a word or motion of acknowledgement, they both took the first step together, then another, until both were slowly walking in unison past the shelves. Not once did their eyes break apart, always maintaining the same pace so that they were perfectly aligned. With every step Lilium could feel her face become more flush, her pulse thrumming now in her ears. Any potential for the whispers to invade the moment were thankfully obliterated as they took another step.
Halfway to the staircases now.
As the shelves distorted their views of each other, with each step she noticed something in Aesop begin to shift. From the start his posture, expression, resolve seemed nearly timid. It was as if he had seen her as a ghost instead of a tangible thing for him to touch, to feel. As they took another step, his eyes grew darker, expression hardening to one of a serious restraint. She could see his fingers just twitch as she swallowed what little saliva had collected from her nerves. It was his eyes however, even from the distance they were at, that made the rest of her body shudder to life. Lilium had that very memory of his eyes branded forever into her memory, the expression he all but gifted her with before devouring her lips against that wall.
They were only a few steps away from the stairs, and now the tension in the room was at a breaking point. Lilium swore at a point she caught his familiar scent, the cedar mixed with that light fragrant smoke from the cauldrons he pondered over. It always made her mind spin, and now her senses begged to be blessed with it once more.
Another step, both of their hands reaching for the bannister at the same time. For another moment, both waited for the other to initiate the descent, eyes raking over each other. Lilium could now get a better view of Aesop, his usual keepness now dishevelled. The usual coat and vest was discarded, this time just settling for his buttoned white shirt, she could just see, past the open buttons by his collar bone, tufts of peppered curled hair underneath. Lilium could not help letting out a long breath as her knuckles went white holding the stair bannister. His own eyes fell on her untucked shirt, clearly more buttons open than should be, giving him a teasing view of just the hint of her cleavage. Judging by his sharp intake of breath, and how he shifted where he stood, Lilium knew exactly what had flooded into his own thoughts.
Eyes meeting once more, holding each other in that distant embrace, they took the first step down. Both mirrored their growing desperations, hesitations, and yearning. Slowly they descended together, keeping their pace, one step at a time. It felt like a near eternity, yet before she could think anymore of their time, she stumbled on the last step, nearly dropping the book from her grasp. Before she had a moment to catch herself, familiar arms found themselves around her, steadying her shaking frame against his own. Where just moments before she begged for that lingering scent to find her, now she drowned in the fragrance of him. What had felt as being a journey across the universe of the library to even see his eyes, now every part of him was holding her close, eyes searching her own for some kind of push, anything to justify what he struggled to hold back.
Lilium’s hand slowly snaked up his chest, the feeling so familiar yet foreign to her. What before was a rush of momentary bliss, this felt like time had stopped just for them. Time that, even ticking on, granted them this moment of reprieve within their delicate touches. A moment only to soon be broken by the sound of a distant door opening and footprints coming down the stairs.  Quickly the two pushed apart from each other, and with no words spoken flew into the brown of books around them.
It had only taken Lilium about thirty seconds to realise she had lost Aesop once more in the labyrinth of shelves. Her eyes quickly caught sight of Scribner, and at the ready as she quickly made her way to the opposite end of the room from Lilium, buying more time to sink further into the alcoves. Her breathing was heavy, heady. The excitement of Aesop’s proximity and now the adrenaline of being found by the head librarian only seemed to accelerate her pulsing adrenaline. After slinking past a few more shelves she pressed her back against a far corner, the exit only a few short turns and well placed crouches away. Yet before she could think of leaving, she heard something shift behind her, something slowly move by her hand. Lilium froze in terror, thinking this time was it for sure, until a familiar scent wafted around her. Fear slowly evolved into excitement as she kept her back pressed firmly to the shelf, yet her hand was exposed now to the empty air of the shelf.
As her eyes drifted closed from his cologne, a ghost of a touch made them shoot open as she let out a small gasp, earning a quiet chuckle from the other side of the shelf. The touch returned, starting from the very tip of her middle finger. His own calloused tip took a moment to enjoy the soft feeling of her own, before the touch slowly crawled along, his fingertip leaving a shivering heat behind. Lilium swore as it raised higher, her own heart rose with it. As gently and soft as possible, it found its way to her palm, slowly circling before making the same way back to the tip. Biting her lower lip, Lilium did everything to stifle the moan threatening to escape her from his gentle torture. Another finger now joined, recreating the same pattern on her ring finger, before continuing on all the remaining digits. She swore she could melt into the shelf, trying to get him to feel her touch on all the other parts of her skin that screamed for his worship.
Yet they stood there, for what seemed like an eternity, the most intimate touch Lilium had ever been blessed to receive, soon joined by a low husky voice.
“If…you were coming in the fall,” His hand traced her fingers once more, now dancing and wearing themselves between her own. They felt just as ablaze as her own.
“Id brush the summer by and half a spurn, as housewives do a fly.” His hand began to travel higher now, from her palm to her wrist as his fingers traced around, her body now shivering.
“If I could see you in a year,
I’d wind the months in balls,
And put them each in separate drawers,
Until their time befalls.”
His torture continued travelling up her arm now, her skin now dotted with goosebumps as his low voice entered her mind, slowly melting away at his beautiful words.
“If only centuries delayed,
I’d count them on my hand,
Subtracting till my fingers dropped
Into Van Dieman’s land.”
To Lilium’s surprise, his touch disappeared for a moment, now eliciting a small moan before looking to see if they had been heard, only now just realising the footsteps of the head librarian reaching the stairs leading above the two. Before Lilium could willing herself to move, his loving touch came back, only now finding itself at her exposed neck. This index tiger ran down the line of her collarbone, following its heaving bath to her neck. Lilium grasped onto the shelves white knuckled, doing her best not to collapse and melt.
“If certain, when this life was out,
That yours and mine should be…”
Lilium’s eyes had drifted closed once more, her whole being now raptured by his voice and gentle touch alone. Yet as his scent grew thicker around her, she could feel a sudden warmth brush against her face. Her eyes fluttered open to see his own, looking down at her with all the love and carnal desperation in the world. Slowly, from her neck, his finger traced up her jaw, gently grasping her chin to keep her eyes on his.
“I’d toss it yonder like a rind,“ He spoke barely above a whisper as he leaned closer, their breaths mixing together as their lips stayed only inches apart.
“And taste eternity…”
Neither of them were entirely aware of who leaned in first, but within a microsecond the two were one, their lips finding home with each other's softness and stubble. Her hands flew into his hair, knotting themselves as she pulled Aesop in closer, her tongue daring to taste his lips before he could catch it with his own. His hands had now found their place at her waist, keeping her as close to him as possible. Without thinking her legs rose to wrap around his waist, Aesop now fully supported her against the shelf.  For those brief moments, the two wrapped themselves in each other's own promise of eternity, never wanting to ever let go.
Yet, as they broke their lip’s embrace to breath, the steps descending down the stairs only reminded them of their fleeting time. Slowly Aesop let Lilium down, his forehead pressed against hers as fingers massaged her burning skin. Neither of them wanted to let go, to escape this place they had created. Lilium slowly grasped his own chin, lifting his gaze to hers as her own fingers traced his lips.
“We will taste eternity together, Aesop….” Her voice rang like silver bells in his ears, the shiver down his spine nearly making him collapse. With one last broken kiss, she felt his body push away, leaving hers cold in the exposed air as he cleared his throat, distracting the head Librarian to buy Lilium some time. Steeling herself, she clutched the book once more before crouching, slowly and silently making her way towards the door. For a moment she looked back, seeing Aesop being clearly scolded, but for a moment, he looked to her, and gave a subtle wink. Trying her best not to blush obviously, she found her way up the stairs once more, quickly racing to the common room.
For the night, Lilium had forgotten about the book she had worked so hard to find. For the first night in over a month, her dreams were beautiful, the voices all but a memory. For the night, Lilium dreamt of a burning touch on her fingers, tracing her neck and holding her close.
For the night, Lilium dreamt what it would be like to taste eternity with Aesop.

The Riddler, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy holding a wealthy teen of a Gotham family hostage/for ransom. The person being held hostage seems indifferent and the villains are extremely confused because of the situation they are in. And maybe after occasional talking and such with the villains. It turns out they don't have the greatest family/don't feel loved, or cared about, so they become a father figure/mother figure for them
The Riddler: He realises after it happens. He took you for ransom. RANSOM. That was IT. The MONEY. So why didn't he hand you over when he got it? Or kill you? Hey, Jonathan rarely turns down a few test subjects! Why are you still here, UNTIED, in his hideout!? So you had a shit upbringing like the rest of the kids in Gotham- why was this his problem? His mental turmoil is unleashed into a very loud. "What am I, the adoption agency!?"
Two-Face: Okay maybe he hadn't thought the bet through. He gave you a choice. Heads, you stay alive and here. Tails, you are killed the moment he gets mummy and daddy's money. You had called it and it was heads...oh fuck it was heads. See that speech and bravado is great and all...until you actually have to keep the kid. In his eyes your situation went from bad to worse. Originally you had shitty parents, now you had him and he could guarantee he was worse by the fact that he didn't know what he was doing...at all. Plus he has enough baggage in the image of two personalities, horrific trauma and severe burns covering half of his body. He only had one eyelid for fucks sake! He doesn't need your issues too! Just--ugh! He needs a drink.
Harley Quinn: It all kinda catches up to her after it happens. She falters for a moment. She didn't exactly want the responsibility of a kid with baggage right now. Although she doesn't have the heart to get rid of you. She anticipates a possible new friendship but before she knew it, she was treating you like a mother would...a very questionable mother but a mother all the same. Kept the ransom money though. Gotta get you through college! It's kinda concerning how quickly it all processes but that's Harley for you.
Poison Ivy: Well this plan went sideways. She just needed the money. Yet now she had ditched the money and kept a kid instead. She considered giving you to Harley but decided against that rather quickly due to who Harley's choice of company to keep...of the Clown nature. Ultimately she sees potential in mentoring you of sorts. Leaving a legacy or at least someone who will carry on speaking for plants and mother nature herself. Yes. That sounded much better. Even though its never said, Ivy is probably best mother you've had. She has your back always and you're always safe.

Mike's conflict in season 5
So I've seen a handful of people who think that we will be let down by the lack of angst or turmoil Mike will go through next season. Like a lot say that it's Will that will be struggling rather than Mike. But I wanna go through why I don't think that makes sense.
Other characters struggles going into s5:
Lucas- had to watch Max die. Feels guilty that he let Max fester in her depression and didn't reach out sooner. Probably feels like he should have stopped her from using herself as bait for Vecna.
Dustin- saw Eddie die. Also probably feels like he could have stopped this from happening. Hates that everyone thinks he's a murderer when he really was trying to save his friends.
El- oh boy, there's a lot. Was bullied in California. Assualted a girl with a skate, which made her feel like a monster. Had her boyfriend not comfort her, which made her feel even worse. Had to relive traumatic memories of someone committing mass murder. Had her abuser forced back in her life again through this. Lost her best friend and feels responsible. Had her boyfriend blatantly lie about loving her. Wasn't able to stop Hawkins from being split in two.
Will- In love with his best friend. His best friend is dating his sister and (from his perspective) loves and cares about her more than him. Still feels connected to the mindflayer. Probably feels responsible for the destruction of Hawkins because his disappearance caused all of this.
Max- Literally in a coma, but we did see her trauma and struggles in the previous season (trauma from Billy's death, dealing with being poor, suicidal ideation.)
And Mike... has... nothing?
Or, at least, some people think Mike will just have no struggles I guess. But how does EVERY other character have some sort of struggle except him? I feel like it would be weird if we see everyone else having a mental breakdown and Mike is just chilling.
Mike's struggles:
Really the only struggle Mike has actually vocalized is his relationship status with El. In season 3 with Lucas, but especially in season 4 to Will.
It's questionable why exactly he decides to vocalize this. Maybe to get advice? Like that definitely seems to be the case with Lucas. He specifically asks Lucas what he should do.
With Will, he seems to be fishing for reassurance or validation. He's not asking Will "how do I tell her I love her?", he's asking "what if she doesn't need me?" Whether he wants Will to say El needs him or that Will needs him remains to be seen, but he's doesn't seem to be searching for a solution like he does with Lucas.
This is actually a big step for Mike. We never see Mike ask anyone for emotional support. His mom is the only exception to this, he does go to her for hugs, but Will is the only person he's opened up to using his words.
Mike has a hard time opening up. Because of this, we literally do not know his struggles, because we can't see into his brain.
Mike's potential unspoken troubles:
Let's go down the list:
-He was bullied prior to the start of the show and probably throughout seasons 1-4
-His best friend was kidnapped in s1
-He jumped off a cliff because of bullies in s1
-He watched El "die" in s1
-Mike seeing Bob die in s2
-He saw Will get possessed in s2, which led to:
-Him watching Will cry
-Him watching Will slowly turn into someone else
-Him watching Will in extreme pain
-Him watching Will kill several bystanders
-Him having to knock Will out via injection
then season 3 (we're not done yet)
-Mike fighting with Will for the first time and very clearing hurting him emotionally
-Mike watching El be injured by the mindflayer
-Mike watching Billy die (he was there too don't forget)
-Mike watching his best friend of 9 years and his girlfriend leave and move to the other side of the country
-Mike isolating himself and showing signs of depression (not cleaning, moodiness) in between seasons 3 and 4
-Mike never getting calls back from Will
-Mike getting lied to by El
-Mike watching El get horrifically bullied
-Mike getting in another fight with Will
-Mike seeing El hit someone with a roller skate
-Fighting with El (in which he gets compared to her bullies and has his own experience with bullying disregarded by El)
-Mike seeing El get taken to prison and not being able to do anything
-Mike getting caught in a shoot-out
-Mike watching another man die
-Mike burying a dead body in a desert
-Mike watching El almost die again and being powerless to do anything
-A man Mike looked up to being killed while he was away
-Mike getting back home and immediately seeing Will be vulnerable to Vecna (where like. a whole slew of his trauma comes from.)
AND that's not even mentioning the internalized homophobia, issues with his parents, conflict with the rest of the party or Nancy, etc.
Mike has a CRAZY AMOUNT of trauma to sort through. Arguably more than some other characters on the show. I think that Mike's leader-complex makes him feel like he can't even open up about more than half this shit I've just listed.
While Will did tell Mike what he needed to hear, I almost think what he said could lead to Mike trying to continue to bury this stuff cause he thinks he has to be the leader.
He's gonna snap eventually. If he doesn't, then Vecna will do something to make him have to. Vecna has a whole arsenal of memories to use against him.
Long story short, if everyone else has shit they're going through, Mike has gotta have something too. And there's plenty of things they can choose from here.

Hello friends💜 A few days ago, I asked @kimium what she thought the favourite songs of the NRC Housewardens are (see her post here) and she also prompted me to give my own answers! I will be doing that in this post :)
I have a lot of thoughts about music, always, so this may get a little long... so under the cut she goes!
Riddle - Moonlight by Yiruma. I think Riddle would like listening to instrumental music. This song is really pretty, and very relaxing. I think he'd thoroughly enjoy the softness of it. I also think the song itself sounds very hopeful, and Riddle would like the optimism and comfort that comes from listening to it. I think he'd even attempt to learn it on the piano himself. I could imagine him putting his headphones on and listening to this on repeat if he is struggling to sleep; it's gentle and soothing like a lullaby.
Leona - Leona was a challenge for me, because I was torn between inner conflict and vibes. I also think he is probably not one to get attached to a lot of songs and probably mostly listens to music in passing. However, I eventually decided on Do Your Worst by Outline in Color and Loveless. It starts out melancholic but quickly becomes an expression of anger and desperation, and I think Leona would find listening to it a bit cathartic due to his inner turmoil surrounding his feelings toward his older brother and how everyone compares them. While it may not be an exact reflection of his situation, I think he'd really identify with the chorus "Do your worst, that's what you do best/ (blame it all, blame it all on me)/ Pull that trigger, no bulletproof vest/ (watch me crawl, watch me crawl)/ Don't have mercy on me now/ Leave me bleeding out on the ground/ You can do your worst til there's nothing left/ That's what you do best". It feels to me like him facing the criticisms and disappointments others have toward him (whether real or assumed by Leona) and calling out the people judging him. Even if he can't say anything or thinks it's pointless to say anything to their faces, he can at least imagine himself telling them off in private.
Azul - Chloe Breez's cover of Gossip by Måneskin. I think the song is really fun to listen to; it's got a fun tune and is rather upbeat, but I also feel like it fits Azul with the lyrics: "Welcome to the city of lights/ where everything's got a price" and "This place is a circus, you just see the surface/ They cover shit under the rug". I think those lyrics in particular would be something he'd enjoy in a smug way, because Azul really likes getting one over on his opponents. Also "This is the American dream" - which is "get rich fast"...and that's pretty much Azul's life code lol. Why this specific cover? I think it's really fun; the vocalist has a really fun and enticing voice.
Kalim - For Kalim, I would choose Gold by Britt Nicole. It's such an upbeat song, I just think he'd have a lot of fun with it. The overall message is so positive and it can be a great confidence booster. Also I like imagining Kalim singing "You're worth more than gold" to Jamil. I think it would be cute, haha. Also I could see him wanting to dance to this song; and maybe even grabbing Yuu to twirl them around the room while it plays. I just get a lot of Kalim vibes from the song.
Vil - For Vil, I think he'd like VICES by Mothica. I think it would really speak to the side of him that he's not allowed to show to the public. As much as I think Vil is confident and loves what he does, I know he's not perfect and he has bad days. He's under constant pressure to perform, even when he's not working. He can't let up his image for a second or it could destroy his entire career. Acting and modelling careers can expose people to some horribly toxic ideologies and put their mental and physical health at extreme risk. I think it would be naive to assume Vil doesn't have some vices and ways he lets off steam that he absolutely would be mortified to have the public learn; or that he even may feel would completely ruin his public image. I think it would be a comfort for him to find others who feel the same way, even if it's via song lyrics, and I think he would probably have this song on repeat during his low points, making it one of his favourites. However, I think if asked by anyone, he would probably list off a different song and pretend he likes something happy or at least something that the general public would find more suitable and "tasteful" rather than a song that's about someone struggling to cope.
Idia - Run Away to Mars by TALK. Idia is a character I identify heavily with. He's got a lot of struggles with PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety. Video games may have always been something he enjoyed, but I think over time that they developed into an escape from reality for him. The idea of escaping has a powerful allure to him, so I think the chorus "What if I run away to Mars?" would really resonate with him. I also think he'd identify with "Would you miss me in the end/ If I run out of oxygen?/ When I run away to Mars"; because I think part of him wants to leave everything behind because he feels like he wouldn't be missed, but a part of him also dares to hope that someone would miss him if he did. That's the reason I think he would have this song on repeat; that it's his go-to song when he's feeling numb inside. And, if it's Idia, then I think he feels that way pretty often...
Malleus - For Malleus, I think a Cello cover of Christina Perry's A Thousand Years. Firstly, anything to do with long stretches of time and Malleus paired together makes my brain do the happy dance. Second, the vocal version of this song is so romantic and sweet, I really think he'd like it. I like to think Malleus enjoys soft romance songs. Third, when I think of Malleus and instruments, the one that comes to my mind immediately is the cello. It's such an elegant instrument and the tones from it are so rich and wonderful, I totally feel it fits Malleus's vibe. It just feels right to me. (also maybe he daydreams about having it played at his wedding as he watches Yuu walk down the aisle hehe💜)
There you go! Sorry it took a little while; this week has been nuts for my energy. As in, I have had No Energy outside of work. LOL. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my answers, and let me know what you think of them!

Toji Fushiguro - Potentially the most human character in the entire JJK series?
Let me start this off by defining how I’ll be using the term “human.” Humanity, to me, is the capacity to act humanlike. To some, it could refer to moral righteousness, but I view humanity to be just that—acting akin to a human. Humans have flaws. We are deeply, deeply flawed creatures that have the potential for good, as well as the potential for wickedness. It’s all a matter of circumstance.
Toji, to me, is a victim of circumstance. He was born into a family that rejected him—not even casting him out, but keeping him around to be ridiculed and abused. His trademark scar is but a physical remnant of the suffering he endured under the Zen’in, but one has to look no further than his attitude to see the mental remnants the abuse has etched into his being.
First and foremost, his apathy. He was shown no significant measure of love or compassion over the course of his upbringing, facing turmoil and ridicule because of something he couldn’t control. He spent his life suffering under those who should have fostered and loved him. The very concept of love, or even positive emotion in general, may be extremely foreign to him. He is so far alienated from regular human emotion, that it’s what allows him to commit the crimes he does in the present day. Hell, one of the first things he does when we finally see him in the field is kill a teenage girl with a shot right through the head, as she’s crying joyously over the renewal of her life. And what’s his reaction? He doesn’t have one. It’s just another task for him, akin to washing dishes or folding laundry. This, for some, would condemn Toji. They’d label him a villain, and though he thematically IS the antagonist of Gojo’s Past, he is by no means an evil man. He’s a callous man, driven by circumstance into the situation he’s in now.
Let it be known that his apathy extends even to himself. He doesn’t truly care for himself, and he tells the reader as much when he faces Gojo’s Hollow Purple. Accurate translations of his dying words reflect a profound lack of respect and value for both himself and others. He’s not someone like Sukuna, who will drag others down and prop himself up—He simply doesn’t care about anyone. Well… that’s not true, but we’ll get back to that. Overall, his apathy is what allows him to commit murders such as Amanai’s without a second thought—an apathy founded in the abuse of Toji by his own family.
The only emotion that he can consistently be seen to feel is thrill—excitement brought around by the presence of risk. We see clearly on his face that he quite enjoys fighting, and one of the only other hobbies we know him to have is gambling.
But, we know that Toji felt love for at least two people. Megumi’s mother, and Megumi himself. Not much is known about their marriage, not to me at least, but it seems accurate to say this was the peak of Toji’s life. Mamaguro, however she may have done it, seemed to be the one to ignite compassion in Toji that he had failed to grasp onto for his entire life. Tragically, when she died, she took this compassion with her. Now, Toji was almost entirely back to the way he was before. Almost.
There was still Megumi. Despite forgetting who he even was for an extended period of time, the sense of care Toji had for his son is quite unambiguous. He did approve of a deal to sell his son to the Zen’in clan, but this was to provide Megumi with a better, more prestigious life than he himself could provide. He knew that he couldn’t be the father Megumi needed—after all, Toji never knew love or affection himself until Mamaguro came around. But, she was gone, and he wasn’t convinced that Megumi’s upbringing was gonna be a good one under his parental guidance. So, instead of foolishly holding onto his kid, he willingly relinquished him—and got a fat check off of it, so that’s a plus. His care of Megumi is even further driven home as he’s dying.
Toji, missing half of his body, was asked by Gojo if he had any final words. At first he denies the notion, seemingly just fine with dying in an unremarkable silence. No declarations, no apologies, nothing. He was just going to stand there and die, knowing he had brought it on himself. But, then he thought of his son, envisioning the frowning face of his boy. When he saw this, he spoke up to Gojo. He informed the high schooler that his son was to be sold in 2-3 years, to the Zen’in family, and to do with that information what he pleased. Toji, in his dying breaths, entrusted the man that killed him with his son, because he didn’t like the prospect of his boy unhappy under the callous rule of the Zen’in. He knew that Jujutsu High would be a better home for Megumi than the Zen’in clan ever could be, seeing the compassion of its members firsthand.
Now, how exactly does Toji care so much about Megumi, whilst also seeming to forget the boy even exists? It’s hard to pin down. Maybe his care for the boy is in remembrance of his mother, and that’s it. Could be, but I’m not too convinced. I posit that Toji does genuinely love his son, but it’s so stifled by his own upbringing and the loss of the love of his life that he appears to feel nothing at all for him sometimes. But, when it counts, Toji’s love for Megumi will always prevail—no matter what.
When brought back to life later on in the Shibuya Arc, Reanimated Toji seems to be led entirely by homicidal instinct. He strikes down Dagon, then enters a fight with Megumi for some reason. He focussed on nobody else, but his son, thrashing him quite a bit too—but clearly not trying too hard. I mean, to be frank, if Toji applied even HALF the effort it took to take down Dagon, he’d have destroyed Megumi VERY quickly. I feel that, over the course of their fight, Toji’s consciousness was gradually coming back to him, holding him back from obliterating his son as we know he absolutely could have. Eventually, Toji gained FULL consciousness, first reminiscing on the moment that he sold his son. He then asks him, what his last name is. Upon finding out it’s not Zen’in, Toji is happy to stab himself in the skull.
Let’s note a few things. The conversation he had with Megumi was very brief. He didn’t even introduce himself as the kid’s dad, or assert himself at all. Thank goodness for it too, or Megumi would’ve have to deal with the mental strain of his father killing himself RIGHT after entering his life. But, another thing, is that Megumi was Toji’s first thought. As soon as he fully came to his senses, he remembered the moment in which he sold Megumi. Signed his son away, in hopes for him to have a better future. Is this his sole biggest regret? Lastly, Toji’s suicide is quite unnerving in how casually it’s done. Toji has just scored a second shot at life, reincarnated into the world for reasons unknown to him. He could’ve literally done ANYTHING, but he chose instead to die upon finding out that his son was, for the most part, okay. That he still bore his last name, and that he had a family/community where he was measured by more than his potential. Instead of clinging onto life from this point on, Toji was so fulfilled by his son’s relative peace that he decided to just let go.
The sketch of Toji at the end of the chapter, with the halo above his head, indicates to me that he’s in a better place now, hopefully with Mamaguro. That might even be part of why he was so easily able to exorcise himself—to return to Heaven after learning that his son was okay in life.
Yes, Toji was absolutely a callous, cold, unrelenting man that didn’t blink at the murder of a child nor even show himself to regret it. But, at his core, despite the abuse that cursed him with the evil he displayed over the course of his life, Toji seemed to be a relatively good man. He was merely a victim of circumstance, molded from birth by monsters in a situation that was completely out of his control. Despite his actions, I’m happy that he isn’t remembered in any great deal of contempt. I’m glad that Gojo has even gone as far as honoring him by dressing in his outfit, and that Gojo has taken Megumi in as his own, given him a home. And, I’m glad that Toji is finally at rest now, enjoying the peace and joy that he has lacked since the moment he was born.

Trying to work out the astrology of the bat family whilst inebriated has been a trip.
Jason being a Leo sun is probably truest to his character because if Jason is one thing it is self-centered. For good and for bad. He's shockingly theatrical and extremely temperamental. Plus if anyone in the bat family has an inflated sense of ego about his own appearances it's him. Constantly joking about his good looks (mostly for laughs whilst wearing his helmet) but this man enjoys classic literature and knowing how extraverted Jason can be, I wouldn't be surprised if he's into theater as well.
I'm also leaning heavily into the notion he has a Scorpio or Capricorn rising, particularly a Scorpio Rising, because Jason's entire character has just been a series of him overcoming personal challenges and obstacles and this man goes through HELL. He does all of this screaming and crying and beating the shit out of people on the way. Jason definitely has a water moon.
I'm swaying towards the notion of a cancer moon because for as much as he uses dry sarcasm and harassment to hide his emotions and feelings, he still has them and they guide his worldview pretty heavily. Plus while he'll never admit it in front of them except in serious moments, Jason deeply loves and cares for the Bat family. He absolutely would not still be there if he didn't.
Damian also being a Leo sun tracks very heavily. While not as theatric and grandiose as Jason in his expression, Damian sure makes up for it by suffering from a severe case of main protagonist syndrome even if he's brutally killing an opponent. He puts himself on a spot on a hill above everyone else and while he works through it (somewhat) the ego on this boy is unreal.
And while I leaned on a heavy water moon for Jason I'm going full-in on Damian being an earth moon. Particularly a Capricorn Moon. For as much as he loves to project his capabilities over everyone else, Damian holds himself to a VERY high standard and has the spine and ability to work hard and get what he wants. He's more than capable of putting in the work to be the very best and he'll do it out of spite, he'll do it because of the experience, he'll do it because he's bored.
Also Damian absolutely has an Aquarius Moon. This little dude is a weirdo when forced into a social situation. He's an artist, a humanitarian, he loves to draw, loves manga, loves animals, and I don't mean just dogs and cats I mean ALL animals. He's off in his own world while all the kids around him are into Tik Tok and funny dances Damian watching the animal planet whilst drawing a bird he saw on a documentary about minivets.
Tim is the one I least expected to be unpredictable mostly because I didn't understand his character all that well on first glance, and then I realized that this man is literally doing not only mental, physical, and emotional gymnastics just like Dick, but he's doing it with probably the most depressing and dry internal monologue I've seen. Tim's cancer sun doesn't really make too much sense on first glance, then you realize the amount of bottled up emotional turmoil this boy goes through it's scary. Tim also is shockingly kind and nurturing, very good with little kids and can pull a solid pep-talk out of his ass at a moments notice.
I'm giving Tim a Libra moon mostly because of Tim's internal analytical sense. He very much likes to look at all sides of every situation to see how he can get a favorable outcome. It's part of what makes him a good detective is those analytical skills. Also the Libra explains the self-depreciation.
I'm giving Tim a Sagittarius rising because that boy's constant outward state is chaos. Son of multi-millionaires who couldn't deal with life being a trophy son literally follows a pair of vigilantes and begs them to let him join their club. Tim comes across as analytical and detached but seriously this man's brain background music is elevator music and the LEEEEROOOOOYYYYYY JEEENKIINNS scream. Tim dives head first into danger a lot and he's really lucky he has the mental aptitude to get himself out of a lot of things.
Now Dick is controversial because he has 3 birthdays based on existing continuities. Pre-Crisis his sun sign in the golden/silver age was Scorpio, in the Young Justice universe he's a Sagittarius sun, but in most current timelines he's a Pisces/Aries cusp. But his actual birthdate makes him a Pisces. Honestly I see both?
When Dick was a kid and well into his teens he radiated feral goblin energy. Let's also not forget that well into his early twenties dick was still planning on killing Tony Zucco if he ever got his hands on him, plus his more than infrequent outbursts towards Bruce and the Teen Titans. He also has a tendency to reflect a lot of emotions back to whatever is thrown at him on top of a pretty dreamy and caring vibe to him. Adding in the Pisces.
I'm leaning on a Leo rising for Dick because this guy is a performer in all that he does, outwardly very sociable and even flamboyant. This man may not admit it but he likes the attention he gets, it may not be optimal in every situation but Dick canonically weaponizes his attractiveness and I've never seen a more Leo thing ever.
Dick's moon was a bit complicated but ultimately I think I'll have to go with a Scorpio moon for Dick. Dick is a shockingly emotional person, there have been numerous occasions of Dick letting his feelings get the better of him. Dick frequently hits things (walls, car radios) when he's angry and is actively violent when in that state. But he also isn't afraid to cry and let his emotions out when he's overwhelmed (and in privacy)
