The designs for these next three involve islands as a metaphor for how addiction can feel, like you’re trapped and can’t leave. Being alone on the island represents addiction by itself, having an umbrella represents harm reduction so it’s not as distressing or dangerous, and having a boat in the ocean with the broken cycle arrows represents sobriety. These emojis are for this anon :)

i have always felt like

there's too much inside of me

and none of it is quite right.

like a flame constantly

burning itself out

when all it's meant to do

is keep the candle lit.

like an hourglass

suffocating itself

from the pressure of

passing the time.

i think i liked the

feeling originally;

the intensity. the burn.

but honestly i'd trade it all in

just to know what it feels like

to breathe fresh air again.

i think i would like to rest.

i think i would like to stop

moving from place to place,

hoping my restlessness

will be mistaken for wanderlust.

NO! he didn't even try!#my dad's first question was if dr. i miss my mom.

i miss answering her calls

instead of watching them

go to voicemail

and crying afterward

as i listen to her

tell me that she misses me.

i guess everything just

feels a little bit easier to digest

when it's in the past tense.

i'm so tired of lying to her

at this point it seems kinder

to just not answer.

i don't know how to

answer her questions

without throwing myself

further into the sea.

i don't know how to tell her

that i feel like both

the shark attack

and the shark itself.

i don't know how to tell her

that i feel like whatever the

opposite of a shark is

because if i keep swimming

i'm pretty sure i'm going to die.

because the smell of blood

only makes me nauseous now.
