Oh you love that musician that wears a strait jacket in a music video?
Oh you love haunted house attractions that are 'insane asylum' themed?
Oh you love that horror movie where the villain is portrayed to be psychotic?
But do you respect and care for mentally ill people who have been restrained because they were a danger to themselves or others?
But do you respect and care for people who are constantly in and out of psych wards, or have to live full time in psychiatric facilities?
But do you respect and care for people who have psychotic disorders, especially if they are poc and/or homeless?
Do you see us as real people, or do you just like the aesthetic of our suffering for your entertainment?

Hi, Nalyra! After all season 2 trailers and teasers, do you think it will turns out, Louis is really schizophrenic or Hallustat is here for just his feel of shame, guilty and regret? Bc Hallustat's bird in his throat and that Paul also mentioned birds when he hallucinated.
Hey!
I... don't think it's schizophrenia per se.
Then again:
"Any of a group of psychiatric disorders associated with dopamine imbalance in the brain and usually characterized by psychotic behavior including delusions, hallucinations, withdrawal from reality, and disorganized patterns of thinking and speech."
That... would fit, I guess. It certainly matches some displayed (and yet to be displayed) behaviors.
However, these vampires... are not mortal. Their bodies do not quite function as ours, and their brains have to deal with a constant influx of data, while at the same time trying to keep the body (and brain) at peak performance. And with more abilities, too.
I always felt it very ... logical almost that they would withdraw, for examples (or most of them do), go to earth. A timeout. A time to process. A time to reset and "clean up" the clutter in their brains.
This is what happens when we sleep as well, our brains clean up. Without it, we get hallucinations as well. For example.
Of course in Louis' case... I think they are hinting at some kind of connection to Paul, maybe, with the birds, as you said. The one coming out of Lestat's throat, too, of course.
The probably latent and dormant afflictions that exist would of course be heightened by their life style. Killing to live weighs on the soul, Louis' personal grapple with guilt and shame would only be heightened by that as well.
Louis comes to the realization in the second half of IWTV that he wants Lestat alive... and so I think "Hallustat" will be a mix of all these things.
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he would be there in Dubai as well, not just in the Paris era.
Of course Daniel would recognize the patterns, it is just logical for him to worry the point... but I don't think a vampire can be narrowed down to a (single) mental disorder, because living with the monster you are is a process - coming to accept the monster you are is the overlaying arc of the chronicles.
So no, I don't think Louis is really schizophrenic. I think he, like Armand when he disassociates in the cult (for example), or others when they go to ground... tries to cope with his life in the way his brain can.
And our brains can do a lot :)) - and vampire brains even more, given the possibilities of the (spell) gift.
Armand notes in his book that Louis spellbinds "inadvertently" (and that this can be hilarious to witness), so Louis does have some capabilities in the spell gift... I personally figure that if you can conjure visions and spells for others, then that tendency can be directed towards your own mind, too. So "Hallustat" can also be a conjured vision, maybe invited consciously... maybe not.
I think for Louis... all these things come together.

all your stuffed animals love you. they're not sad if they're in a box, or on the floor, or not held/played with as much. they understand. they know that you might need another stuffie more, or that you don't have enough space. they're just happy to be with you, and if you ever give them away, they'll be happy there too. stuffies are for comfort. they understand. they love you too. it's okay.

please include schizospectrum people in your mental health positivity post. please actually include schizophrenic, schizoaffective, schizotypal, schizoid and other psychotic people. still to this day, i get called dangerous for being schizophrenic. my last ex told me they "knew" i would lash out and become dangerous and that they shouldn't have dated me specifically because i'm schizophrenic. i never lashed out to hurt them, by the way, but they routinely hurt me.
schizospectrum disorders do not make someone inherently dangerous. people still believe this firmly. our fight isn't over we still have to continue to speak about schizospec people and how unfairly we are treated. we are dehumanized instantly the second people find out about our conditions. we are treated like ticking time bombs. people openly admit that we are scaring them when we talk about our psychosis and how it affects us.
people tell us to calm down and that our delusions aren't real and that we're overreacting. people give reality check us and force us to try to think in ways that scare us. people refuse to trust our own accounts of our own lives and what is happening to us, even when we are not actively delusional or hallucinating. people infantilize us and treat us like we're stupid and have zero autonomy.
we are not dangerous. we are not scary. we are literally just existing in a world that refuses to accept us. please keep talking about schizospectrum struggles and how we need to be seen as just another human, just like anyone else. we can be as unique and varied as anyone else with any other neurotype. we are not all the same person, and we are not inherently dangerous or scary.

The internet honestly and truly despises schizophrenic people/people with psychosis. They despise our existence. So many “mental health” advocates actively demonize psychosis.
People refuse to listen to us when we tell them not to use “delulu”. They can understand why using mental health terms incorrectly is damaging. They can understand not to say “intrusive thoughts” when they mean impulsive thoughts. They understand why saying “I’m so OCD” when not describing OCD is wrong. They are actively refusing to understand why not to use delulu.
I’ve had people tell me, when describing why not to say delulu, that it’s not a big deal. It’s not a big deal to you. You’re not the one suffering. And even then, you don’t need to personally suffer in order to understand why something is harmful. You should not need to see yourself/someone in your life suffer to have understanding for those who do. Your understanding should not be based on proximity to the self, ESPECIALLY if you consider yourself a mental health advocate.
And if they don’t use “delulu”, then they’ll often describe someone they’re morally opposed/bigoted as delusional. As if being delusional is some sort of moral failure.
Not to mention how if someone so much as mentions their psychosis, they’ll get bombarded with “I’m in your walls” jokes. If someone hears that a person experiences psychosis, they will actively attempt to trigger that person’s psychosis.
They hate us. The internet hates us. I’ve grown up on the internet seeing psychosis demonized my entire life.

Things I'd love for the Internet to leave in 2023:
• misusing the word "delusional" or saying "delulu"
• public freakout videos that are just someone displaying psychotic symptoms
• "I'm in your walls" and other paranoia triggering "jokes"
• schizoposting
• misusing the word "psychotic"
• baiting and triggering people online who are openly psychotic or displaying psychotic symptoms
• excluding schizo-spec and psychotic people from any neurodiversity/mental illness awareness
Let's just all try to be better to schizo-spec and psychotic people. And hold others accountable as well.

Can people stop fucking using the term “delulu” or using “delusional” improperly can people stop making light of symptoms of mental illness if you are not affected by it.
It is like saying “Oh I’m so OCD” for just wanting everything to be clean or something
Shut the fuck up
You are not delusional just for having a crush on somebody who does not like you back or for wanting something that is generally unlikely to happen
Stop using mental illness as your quirky little fun language I bet the second you see someone who experiences delusions you will get extremely uncomfortable and want them out of your sight

it's never too late to start brushing your teeth again. i basically never brushed my teeth for a whole 10 years. a decade. A DECADE. i still struggle to brush my teeth once a week, but it all started with brushing my teeth once every few months. so i mean it when i say brushing your teeth once a week, a month, a year, or even a decade, is better than nothing.
and still, nothing is not shameful. it is not immoral to struggle with self care. and it is also not pointless to keep trying. anything you can do, even if its wiping plaque off with a towel, is enough. it is good to take care of yourself however you can, even if it's just trying to muster the will to. reading this post is good, too.
i believe in you and i am proud of you, even in the smallest of steps. it's okay. you can give yourself grace.

every schizospec person deserves respect- severely paranoid schizospec people who struggle to form relationships, schizospec people who can't form complete sentences and struggle to converse, schizospec people who talk about their delusions with strangers, schizospec people who can't tell reality from fiction, schizospec people who are affected and unnerved by their hallucinations, schizospec people who struggle with hygiene and dressing themselves, schizospec people who can't double bookkeep, homeless schizospec people, addicted schizospec people, unmedicated schizospec people, and so on and so forth. all of us, not just those of us who can hold down jobs or be in education
