to be.
Oh to be the lover he holds in his eyes,
To be the one who when he sets eyes on, the world around him fades,
To be the one for who his eyes gleam with pride,
To be the one for who his eyes soften with relief, when he knows she's there for him,
To be the one who sets off the sparkle of dreams of family his eyes
To be the one his arms envelop perfectly as if a puzzle's destined piece,
To be the one his lips automatically curl for
To be the one who he can rest his worries on
To be the one, the one, the one, he loves.
Oh to be the lover in his eyes, what would I not give?
I would give my sleepless nights just to catch a glimpse of him when my eyes shut.
I would give my dark mornings, to become the sunshine when he wants a sunrise.
I would give my empty hands, to hold all his insecurities in.
I would give my shadow to protect his.
I would give my dreams to him, if he makes them his.
I would give him my traditions, as he wishes.
I would give him my peace, just so he can have his.
I would give him my love to shelter him on rainy nights.
I would give myself to him, even if his eyes hold someone else.

What will you tell people when I leave you?
Will you tell them you tried your best?
Will you say, I am unreasonable, unrealistic, and hard to please?
Will you tell them I was crazy, your weirdest mistake, your biggest regret?
Will you tell them you had been on psychedelic drugs our entire relationship?
Will you tell them I threatened you, blackmailed you into staying?
The more I think about it, I don't know that I care what you would say...
But I hope you tell them I am finally putting myself first.

Tender is your touch
The rate of my heart quickens at the sight of your skin.
The mere sensation of your hand on my shoulder is enough to give me chills.
You can make time stop, did you know?
Every now and again, I realize I idolize you too much.
I have to remind myself that you, too, are human.
I must remember that, like me, you're a young girl with so much to learn.
You, too, have cried and broken down.
And every time I see mere glimpses of your teary face,
I can't help but pray you receive all the good things in this wretched world.
Only when I see you asleep and unaware,
I can pretend that nothing bad has happened to either of us.
I'll remember you forever,
That is the one promise my clumsy self can keep.
I know a love story of you and me will never be written.
And if I ever gaze upon you and him,
I'll hold my tongue.
If he's the one you chose,
Then, you must surely feel safe with his touch.

i want to speak your language
i know you like girls who can
i should already be able to speak it
for that's who i supposedly am
but i don't speak your language
i can't whisper with you
everyone hears you same as i do
there's no "only sharing with you"
