ch. lv - uncle yuyu

where love and peace is held, i never expected for this to happen. i planned and i planned, i expected, and i hoped, but it was never you. you held what i wanted hostage to make room for you, the thing that i needed but has no means of acceptance. deny me, live your best life.

For some reason, Yeonjun felt compelled to sort trash out that day. He had been staring at the bags that his kitchen staff would bring out for 20 minutes straight before deciding he couldn't stand the damn thing any longer.

It wasn't like the task was fun or it had benefits. Heck, he had to recycle and risk meeting a recycling nut who would attack him for not crushing his cans first. So his plan was to just get the bags there, throw it out and return ASAP.

But one thing caught his eye when he turned around to walk back to his cafe. He noticed a very familiar boy looking around the park with furrowed eyebrows and he noticed people looking at him, probably as confused as the little boy was, maybe even concerned because it didn't seem like he was there with someone and that was concerning.

"Hey, bud," Yeonjun called out after jogging towards Kijoong who turned around at the sound of a familiar voice. Though it seemed like Kijoong recognized him, he didn't make a move to approach Yeonjun. Heck, he took a couple of steps back and made it seem like he was ready to run away. "It's me, uncle Yeonjun! I know your nanny (y/n) and your uncle Woowoo!" He said, desperately hoping the boy won't run because if he ran and he chased him down, that could seem like a humongous problem.

Thankfully Kijoong nodded, "You're the uncle from the cafe," he stated though seemingly shying away from Yeonjun's kind gaze slightly. Yeonjun was glad to hear that Kijoong remembered him but there more pressing matters he needed to prioritize. "That's right! So... What are you doing here alone? Is your daddy nearby?" Kijoong immediately shook his head and furrowed his eyebrows, "No, I want (y/n) and daddy don't know where (y/n) is," he said, obviously hating the fact that his dad didn't seem like he was going to round up a search party to look for you. Though Yeonjun couldn't help but notice that Kijoong was so keen on looking for you, he knew he had to get the boy back to his dad. "So, your dad's not around here, huh?" Kijoong shook his head at Yeonjun's question, "So where is he?" "Daddy's cutting people with his friends," and boy did Kijoong said that with much confidence because some people heard and couldn't help but stop in their tracks and stare at the innocent toddler and a panicked adult who immediately look around and waved his hands frantically, "It's not what it sounds like, folks. His dad is a neurosurgeon, a very good one at that."

It wouldn't take a genius to realze that the kid had ran away from wherever he was supposed to be and whoever he was with, but knowing that it would be hard to ask Kijoong about where he was and who he was with, Yeonjun decided to just cut the middle man and call up his friend.

"What's up cutie pie?" Wooyoung snickered, not looking into the camera though Yeonjun had face-timed him. "Yeah I kind of have a problem and you're the only one who could help me," Yeonjun said, shifting his eyes between his phone and Kijoong who was looking around as if disinterested or worse, trying to find a means to escape. Yeonjun's words made Wooyoung roll his eyes, "For the last time, I am not dressing up like a cupcake and handing out flyers. You're roommates with Jongho, ask him," he scoffed which made Yeonjun groan, "No, dude, look." It took Wooyoung longer than he'd care to admit to realize that he wasn't hallucinating when Yeonjun moved the camera to Kijoong who upon seeing Wooyoung, beamed up and waved. "HI WOOWOO," he yelled into the mic but Wooyoung was unbudging, still confused, "Hey bud, what- why are you with my friend Yeonjun?" and Kijoong shrugged his tiny shoulders, "Uncle followed me," and Yeonjun immediately turned the camera back on him, "That is not true, I found him at the park!" "The park? Why is he there? He was supposed to be in daycare," Wooyoung asked but it was apparent that he was doing something else frantically, "He was looking for (y/n)." That seemed to cause both men to stop momentarily and stare at each other knowingly.

With a sigh, Wooyoung mustered up a smile, "Kijoong, buddy," Kijoong, who heard his name being called, popped his head into the frame and tilted his head to the side, "I need you to go with Uncle Yeonjun here back to the hospital, okay?" Kijoong momentarily glanced up at Yeonjun before he furrowed his eyebrows, "But... (y/n) said I can't go with anyone I don't know," he said, looking at Yeonjun suspiciously. "But you do know him! You know I know him and he's going to take you back to the hospital!" Wooyoung tried to reason but Kijoong only stared at the screen with furrowed eyebrows. "Tell you what," Yeonjun spoke up finally, "How about you keep calling Uncle Wooyoung on our way to the hospital, huh? That way Uncle Wooyoung can see that I'm really bringing you to the hospital, how about that?" he reasoned. Kijoong seemed to be satisfied with the idea by nodding and opening his arms up so Yeonjun could carry him.

During the whole way to the car parked near the cafe and the hospital, Yeonjun took notice of how Kijoong seemed to be calmer though he kept talking about you along the way. What made Yeonjun sigh heavily was when Kijoong told Wooyoung to tell you that he was being so good and that he listened to you to not follow strangers so you could come back home. He actually said home and while it could easily be about the apartment he and his dad lived in, he had a feeling that Kijoong was talking about the place you belong in. Even when Wooyoung told him that he and his dad would be waiting by the lobby he asked about you, seemingly hopeful that you would be there for him.

When Yeonjun took Kijoong out of the backseat's seatbelt, he took notice of how Kijoong simply waited by his side as he made sure his car was locked before offering Yeonjun his phone before lifting his hand. "(y/n) said hold," he stated though innocently, his eyes was showing determination. Yeonjun barely knew the boy but he could tell how much he had grown to get used to and close to you so much so that he was dependent. For some reason the knowledge made him feel bad that you had been absent from his life.

Even before reaching the lobby, Yeonjun could see the neurosurgeon pacing back and forth worriedly with Wooyoung next to him with his arms crossed and disgust on his face, talking about something so serous that it caused Hongjoong to stop in his tracks and put his hands on his hips, replying Wooyoung something that was probably ridiculous to Wooyoung as seen from the way he scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Daddy!"

The very second the automatic door opened, Kijoong let go of Yeonjun's hand and ran to his dad, grabbing the man's white jacket as if to crawl up. Hongjoong crouched down and scooped his son into his arms and burying his face in his hair. Hongjoong visibly let out a shaky sigh and you could almost see the stress leaving his shoulders.

"Where have you been? Why did you run out of daycare?" Hongjoong asked, momentarily letting go of his relief to scold his son. Before Kijoong could answer, Wooyoung stepped up and answered for the little boy, "Because he missed (y/n) you dumb fuck. Remember her? The strong as hell woman you manage to mess with YET AGAIN with whatever you said?" At the mention of messing with you, Hongjoong visibly shifted, seemingly uncomfortable that he was being called out like that. "What the hell did you say to her?" Wooyoung pressed, taking a step forward when Hongjoong lifted Kijoong into his arms, "What the hell happened that she couldn't seem to talk about it?" Hongjoong sighed and shook his head, "It's honestly not my business that she doesn't want to talk to you, but honestly, her running away and abandoning her responsibilities because I made a mistake is not on me." Had it not for the fact that his son was right there (and that it could jeopardize his employment), Wooyoung would have definitely punched Hongjoong in his face. "She ran away because of whatever it is you said or did, I can definitely be sure of that," Wooyoung scoffed but Hongjoong was not backing down, "You kept saying that she's an adult, she's a grown-up, she's a woman or whatever, so should a grown-up just hide when a mistake was made? I was and still am willing to talk about what I did wrong because I did, I can admit that, but frankly, I don't know how effective that conversation is now that she selfishly closed the door to have a conversation from her side and blocked other means of conversation. I get her need to preserve herself, to shield her from potential pain, and to tend to her wounded feelings first, I do, but she can't call me names when she herself is in hiding and is refusing to talk without even notifying anyone in her life. So before you bite my head for being stupid and God knows I was, do your friend a favour and help her back," he said before turning around and carrying Kijoong back to the daycare after bowing to Yeonjun and thanking him before excusing himself.

Hongjoong could feel Wooyoung and Yeonjun staring at him but he couldn't care less. 1. Wooyoung is stubbornly statued on his convictions so if he were to fight him off on it, he'd just be wasting his breath, 2. He didn't know Yeonjun and he knew Yeonjun is your friend so he would most likely side with you and try to defend you in front of him, 3. Kijoong had been returned and he would much rather focus on his son than strangers. But with each step he took, he couldn't help but let his mind go back to that day you left, that day he sat under his home office desk and let the fact that he had hurt you badly sink in slowly, drowning him in guilt and feeling of stupidity. Then his mind connected the memories and feelings to the ones he experienced years before, the day his ex abandoned him with their 3-month-old. And once again, he blamed himself for being abandoned by someone he had leant on, someone he trust, someone who was hurt because of him.

So, I know you don’t think there was much to Sam and Monika Clarke after those photos showed up in March of 2022. This ask isn’t about them,btw. Whatever those photos were it was 18+ months ago. Since you usually try to be as logical as you can, have you seen any evidence that you think is credible of anyone he has actually dated since then? Like more than one date here or there. It’s like those photos dropped, then supposedly the photographer said around Easter of ‘22 that they “ broke up so he could go back to an ex.” But we haven’t seen any ex that he’s actually dated. Have we?

Since those photos there’s been innuendo about Katrina K, Karina E, Chloe M, Georgia E, Susie E and probably a couple names I forgot . Have you seen any logical proof that makes you think he ACTUALLY dated any of them?

I’m starting to think he’s pretty happy on his own and very tired himself of all the innuendo. Most of us settle a little more as we get into our 40’s- whether that means a relationship or just being content on our own. Maybe he’s decided that he won’t seriously try to date again unless it’s someone he really wants to be with. It’s got to be difficult to get someone to date him if she knows about this fandom and honestly, about his dating record of the past 10 years. (We don’t know much about what he was like before OL.) I kind of hope he’s doing some serious reflection on where he wants to be professionally and personally post Outlander and whether that includes a relationship or not. I also hope he’s getting some counseling, if he wants it, to help him figure out who he wants to be in the next phase of his life and to help him with his own self-proclaimed personal issues.

Just wondering if you have seen signs of real dates, or if these patterns of assuming he is dating any woman even thought to be connected to him are just the same old stuff that’s been happening for years in this fandom.

Ugh... where to start...

In general, I can only say, a pattern of speculations and innuendos about rumors/dating/affairs connecting women to him are most of the time kept alive by the fandom, or should I say certain parts of the fandom itself that thrive by it, or desperately wants to connect him with a woman.

After the MC pics, which actually ended the speculation about AM, with whom he was seen a number of times. A video in London as well as pics and videos in Paris. Especially the Paris videos surely implied an affair with AM. Shortly after the Paris trip (and rumored skitrip after Paris) he went to LA and NZ. People tried to keep the affair alive, telling he would be in SA with her, and she would come with him to NZ. They certainly would be together for Valentine's Day. Needless to say, nothing of the kind happened and AM became old news when the MC pics surfaced beginning of March 2022.

Beyond the infamous cafe kiss nothing ever could connect her in anyway to him. Nevertheless, innuendo was created on the fly by the usual ones. Even when he was spotted in a YT video with KK end of April 2022. The vibe wasn't one of a date or affair though, and couldn't stop the MC speculations.

Summer came with the usual flood of names sent to inboxes. KE was one of them, and became a bit more interesting when he appeared to be on a roadtrip. Even after he posted some pics from it by himself, and after posting the video of his 48 hours in LV, speculation about MC was still kept alive. All the pics that could be found from the John L concert in LV were analyzed and yes, he was spotted in some with 'a woman'. Though that far away that it was merely impossible to positively identify the woman. The queen of innuendo even identified her as MC in the beginning. Until someone spotted the infamous dog in the cowboy pics of his roadtrip... that's when KE became speculation number one so to say.

A pic with her has never been seen, never was there anything else than the rumored dog. Despite many attempts to connect her or even put her in the same place as him, all proof of that is circumstantial and most of it even far fetched. So much that up to today she hasn't been out of the speculations and innuendo.

Do you see the pattern, and how it is created by certain parts of this fandom? I bet, with an open mind, you can all confirm we've seen exactly the same the past months.

GE, nothing else but spotted at the athletic games in Ratingen, Germany on a Sunday. Based on some history, someone kept sending the most fantastic innuendo to my inbox all summer. Cinderella and Kristina S, Emily S, nothing but innuendo, not even the slightest shred of suspicion.

Susie E. People take it for granted she's the woman on the booze boat, I'm sorry, I'm waiting patiently for the white Prada sunnies or the blue bikini on her IG. A video in the suite at Shutters where he recorded an interview is somewhat questionable, but doesn't make an affair nor a romantic weekend. Telling me she was not posting on IG isn't evidence she was on a romantic trip to Nevis with him. All innuendo created by the fandom.

I'm pretty much with you Anon 1, about the last part of your message and your conclusions. We know some of his dating life before OL, he was described being a flirt in a very old article. He mentioned about dating an actress he worked with during his theater days during Waypoints interviews as well as mentioning some other stories about dating. Nothing new, he said himself he had dates, he's not living the life of a monk. Being single doesn't mean you have all kind of issues, though he mentioned some things from his youth.

Anyway, more and more people live a single life or only find their partner later on in life. We all make our own choices based on our own priorities, opportunities and challenges we see before us.

“They were so obvious – I can’t believe you didn’t see it.”

Mingyu’s last words before he left echoed loud and clear in his ears as Jihoon sat, uneasy, in the love seat of your shared apartment. He replayed the conversation from the drive home from the club over and over again in his head, trying to piece together everything Mingyu told him, everything he saw, and everything he heard. It was . . . impossible, right? You and Seungcheol?

Jihoon shook his head, hissing in frustration.

His best friend would never – he could never.

And you?

You were out on your date with Jisoo this evening – the nice pre-med from the neighboring university. Hansol had spilled the beans all about your little crush after some bribing with tacos last year when you started working at the cafe. There was no way you’d garner feelings for Seungcheol out of all people. You didn’t dislike each other, but neither were you necessarily friendly with one another. He wasn’t your type and you weren’t his either.

Unless?

No, no, no, no – no.

It was impossible.

Jihoon glanced over at the digital clock hanging in your kitchen, reading 12:46AM. All this drama aside, he was starting to get anxious. You still weren’t home when he arrived. He had called Clara who wasn’t quite sure of your whereabouts either. Hansol was aloof that you were even out tonight. Mingyu was with Jihoon. Jihoon silently cursed himself for not asking you to give him Jisoo’s contact information before you left for your date. Not that he thought Jisoo would hurt you in any way, but you could never be too careful – you were his little sister after all.

Yet, it wasn’t the thought of you being out with Jisoo that made him uneasy. It was the fact that he had called both you and Seungcheol, and neither of you answered your phones. Jihoon sent you probably hundreds of messages without any of them being read. Seungcheol’s message statuses were more or less the same. At this point, Jihoon was this close to driving over and barging into the man’s apartment himself. However, there was a piece of him that was afraid to go and see what he would find.

Would he lose his best friend once and for all tonight if he left the solace of his apartment?

He didn’t want to.

Not yet at least – he still wanted to believe there was a shard of good in Seungcheol because he was good. Jihoon wasn’t lying to Wonwoo earlier that evening. Seungcheol pouted a little too much, he was bratty sometimes and acted younger than he was supposed to be, and he was too affectionate for Jihoon’s liking (probably the result of being an only child with an emotionally constipated father), but Seungcheol had always been there for Jihoon when he needed him most.

He recalled the week after his mother had passed and the funeral ceremony had wrapped up. Though no one knew, Jihoon had wept for hours in Seungcheol’s arms on the front porch of your family home. Up to that point, he had put on a stoic facade because Jihoon wanted to be strong for you and your father. As the eldest child, he always knew he had to be reliable, trustworthy, and a good role model for you. However, this responsibility seemed to inflate ten-fold in the absence of his mother.

Jihoon was petrified. Jihoon was only a freshman in high school then who hardly knew anything about the world; aside from a few tantrums and angry spells, his childhood was nothing but happy and shielded from the cruelties of reality. What if he disappointed your father? What if he wasn’t a good enough older brother to you? What if you got bullied because you didn't have a mother anymore? What if you ran away and did drugs and found yourself in juvie? The burden weighed on his shoulders as the weeks proceeded, breaking his back the day after his mother was sent to the afterlife and buried away. Amidst all his inner turmoil, it was Seungcheol who lessened the weight of his world, voluntarily taking half onto his own shoulders.

Sniffling and tired from all the crying, leaning against Seungcheol’s shoulders while the crickets chirped at night, Jihoon still remembered what his best friend had told him.

“You’re scared because you care and that is already more than enough, Jihoon. Your mother raised you well – I’ve seen it with my own eyes,” Seungcheol chuckled half-heartedly, “You need to live for yourself too, hm? She wouldn’t want you to be burdened like this – and hey, if you need a break, let me know and I’ll take care of Y/N for a day, chase all those boys with my guitar.”

But you see, the thing about Seungcheol is that it didn’t stop there. His words of reassurance weren’t flowery nor were they never empty promises – at least when it came to Jihoon. Because when Seungcheol saw that Jihoon was too strict with you, he was there to slow him down. Because when Jihoon did want to just spend a day playing baseball with Mingyu without worrying that you’d be kidnapped on your way home, Seungcheol would be there to pick you up from tennis practice. Because Seungcheol saw how much Jihoon loved music, Seungcheol pushed him to change his major from business half-way through university.

Tonight, Jihoon didn’t want to lose his best friend, let alone over you, so he chose to stay home instead. Searching his drawers for his pajamas, Jihoon opted to go to bed and rest, quiet the loud thoughts rattling his brain. Perhaps, he’ll wake up and things will be back to normal.

The spring weather unfolding outside of Seungcheol’s apartment reflected your feelings this late morning: gray.

Though the sun peeked through, its usual blue was muddled with seemingly light, yet heavy clouds. A soft wind must be passing through, ruffling the nearly bare branches of the trees in the park across the street. A few sprout of green dotted each tree.

With your umpteenth heavy sigh for the morning, you shifted your legs out from under you and twisted to rest your back against the couch. Instantly, you regret the decision as the coldness of your wet hair, pressed between your back and the couch, seeped through the fabric of yours (Seungcheol’s) t-shirt. You leaned your head over the top edge of the couch, pursing your lips and squeezing your eyes shut.

Just how did you end up in this predicament?

You went through the facts like flashcards in your mind.

One, you walked out on Jisoo in the middle of a date that he asked you on.

Two, adrenaline rushing through your veins, your last piece of logic sent you on a bus, home to yours and Jihoon’s apartment. However, inches from the front entrance, you turned back around and hailed a cab to Seungcheol’s apartment.

And three, you agreed to sleep with Seungcheol – the dirty deed this time.

Did you regret it? Certainly not.

But were you prepared to deal with the consequences that would come after? Certainly not.

You were full-on anticipating Seungcheol to throw you out of his apartment the minute he woke up – not for him to confess to you.

He was falling for you, and he said it with so much conviction and sincerity, it was starting to terrify you. Could you love him the same?

Your anxious musing was interrupted by the soft clearing of his throat. Your eyes fluttered open at the sound of him, perking up in your seat. Seungcheol lingered at the edge of the short hallway, leaning forward against the wall. Similarly, water clung to his hair and the fresh scent of his lavender wash wafted in the air around him. He had just finished his shower; Seungcheol had teasingly asked you about showering together before you rolled out of bed, but you had quickly refused, opting to go first then him, as if he didn’t see you bare already.

Seungcheol gave you a small smile, and though it once soothed you, your heart rate picked up and your stomach did flips – and not the good kind. Rather than greeting him with the same warm smile, you shot up from the couch, soreness radiating up your legs from last night’s activities, accompanying your rapid movement.

Before Seungcheol could say anything, you quickly managed to spit out, “I-I’ll get going. S-sorry.”

Your eyes quickly flitted to the ground before you, maneuvering your way around the glass coffee table, hoping to zip past him. It was illogical truly – your purse was laying somewhere in the kitchen, your clothes strewn across his room. You were literally about to walk out in sneakers and an oversized t-shirt that barely covered your ass. However, you were lovesick, yet scared – there was no room for logic this morning. You left that behind long ago yesterday evening when you opted to come here in the first place.

Just as you reached the entryway, your sneakers inches away from your toes, one side pointed towards the door, the other laying perpendicular and upside down, Seungcheol’s firm arm found its way around your shoulders, the other holding you by the waist as he pulled you into him. The curve of your back met his chest, his cheeks nuzzled into the nape of your neck.

“Don’t go,” he whispered. You felt a soft squeeze along your waist. “Stay – for a little bit, at least. Let’s talk.”

Your breathing grew unsteady, unsure if you should feel giddy or scared for what’s to come. You coughed up an excuse – his excuse. “J-Jihoon?”

Immediately, you felt Seungcheol shaking his head back and forth along your t-shirt. “Just us, you and me. We can deal with Jihoon later.”

A small breath of relief escaped your lips as you let your eyes fall shut and allowed yourself to lean into Seungcheol a little more. Maybe the idea of being more wasn’t so foreign anymore. Automatically, he pulled in closer, planting a kiss along the junction of your neck and your shoulder to better soothe you. Silence enveloped the two of you as you basked in the small moment of comfort amidst the chaos of your situation right now.

“Please,” Seungcheol whispered, his breath fanning over your collarbone. You squirmed slightly in his hold as it sent shivers up your spine. “Let’s stop ignoring what’s really going on here.”

At this, you spun around in his hold to face him. You peered into his round dark eyes, glistening with optimism, a tint of fret framing his irises. Seungcheol’s eyes held nothing but adoration for you – the thought of losing you right here, right now, today made him fearful. As he had told Wonwoo, you had brought a sense of calm and stability into his life that he never knew he wanted. The turbulence to come if you left him was something he didn’t want to know.

Mindlessly, your hand wandered up his arm, over his broad shoulder, up his neck, landing on his soft cheek. Seungcheol leaned into your touch immediately, though his teeth tugged at this bottom lip. It was unexpected, but the kiss you planted on his lips, much softer than the one you gave him last night in roughly the same spot, was very much welcomed.

“Okay,” was all you replied with.

And that was enough to make him feel relieved at that moment. Taking you by the hand, he led you back to the couch. You settled into the love seat, expecting Seungcheol to let you be; however, his hand never left yours, opting to brush your knuckles gently instead.

Truthfully, Seungcheol didn’t know how to start this conversation; he ran several sentence starters and scenarios in his head, but nothing seemed quite right. Nonetheless, he knew it needed to happen – now more than ever. He couldn’t let you leave, thinking you were only another one of his “victims” when he was head over heels for you. And it wasn’t only for the two of you, but everyone else around you: Jihoon, Mingyu, Wonwoo, and heck, even Hansol and Clara who seemed clueless to the whole ordeal.

For that reason, the first few words that spilled from his cherry lips seemed less intimidating than the scenes of you running out in tears that he’d prepared himself for in his head.

“I,” he started, dragging out the single syllable. He scooted closer to you, tightening his hold on your delicate fingers. “I’m falling for you.”

I know, you wanted to tell him, but you held your tongue, knowing he had more to say. He told you the same thing this morning.

Seungcheol held his breath and watched you, searching your face for any signs of hesitancy. As different as you and Jihoon were, you both had the shared characteristic of having the best poker faces. Your face was stoic, only innocently peering at him, the slightest dip in the space between your brows.

When you didn’t answer, Seungcheol frowned and repeated himself. “I’m falling for you, Y/N. I . . . like you – a lot and for real.”

Yet, still no response.

Were you hesitant? Did you not trust him?

An exasperated sigh leaving his lips, Seungcheol dipped his head into your chest, arms now wrapping around your waist and pulling you close. You were stunned, but let his body engulf yours nonetheless. Your soft chuckle felt like soothing music to his ears, offering him some level of relief and comfort.

“I’m sorry,” Seungcheol continued, burying himself deeper in you as if you weren’t already close enough. “Sincerely, truly, genuinely, cross my heart and hope to die – I’m so sorry for pushing you away.” He pulled away from you, pushing himself up by his forearms. “I never meant to hurt you or make you doubt yourself – me, us. I was scared, and I still am.”

The way your heart sank at his last words was evident. The space between your brows crinkled further, tears ripping your lower waterline. Your heart was more fragile than ever – the flick of a pin could shatter it at this point. How could he be so kind, cuddling you like this, yet simultaneously so cruel? It’s not like he insulted you admitting his fears; nonetheless, the truth still hurts.

“I was scared,” Seungcheol started to explain, his voice soft and careful, as if he knew what was weighing on your mind all this time and knew to be gentle. “Of my feelings – my true feelings. But it’s weird, you know?” he chuckled breathlessly, “It’s not like you brought chaos to my life or anything. Fake dating is wild in any story, but ours . . . ours was calm, steady . . . stable. Yet, my mind was scattered and my heart was torn.

Because . . . we were so . . . different, a-and I promised Jihoon . . . You were also so infatuated with Jisoo. So I thought: What if I wasn’t enough for you? What if I was too much for you? Was I too wild? Did we make sense? Would I ruin you when I like you just the way you are?”

Slowly, Seungcheol pulled back from your embrace, still not letting go of you, but giving himself an opportunity to see if his words made any impact on you. The corner of his lips twitched up, the faintest sight of the dimple on his left cheek showing. “But it doesn’t change that I still like you,” the back of his fingers grazed along your temple, “I mean it when I say I’m falling for you.”

Silence, then a beat.

“You have to tell me how you feel too for this to work out, love,” Seungcheol said to you in a low voice. He smiled sadly, an equally melancholic chortle accompanying it. He ran his thumb down the space between your brows as if to smoothen the wrinkle, letting it glide down your nose before they brushed gently across your lips. “What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?”

Mustering up all the courage from the crevices of your body, you forced yourself to look at him finally, again met with nothing but love and despair. You sucked in a sharp breath, looking away from him once more before returning your gaze to meet his own. You could only hope, he could read your eyes as well as you could read his, as internally, you longed for him, wanting to shout your confession over a cliff of a mountain valley and have it echo it back to you.

“ I’m . . . scared I’m falling for you too,” you finally replied, your voice barely above a whisper. You couldn’t hold his stare any longer, for some reason, embarrassment flooding your veins. Heat warmed your cheeks; too ashamed to look at him minutes after your own confession, yet you still sought solace in Seungcheol, launching yourself into his chest; now it was you burying yourself in him. Your hands clasped behind him, eyes squeezed tight, wishing you’d just disappear into Seungcheol. You heard another chortle, the small laugh echoing through his chest before he adjusted his grip on you to hold you tighter.

“It seems we were both scared, hm?” Seungcheol hummed.

You only nodded in reply.

He planted a gentle kiss on the crown of your head, his lips brushing softly across your temple. “But . . . I don’t want to be scared anymore. I don’t want to be fake anymore.”

You held your breath as Seungcheol rubbed soothing circles into the small of your back.

“How does that sound to you?” Seungcheol muttered. “Let’s make this . . . real.”

Because it was the truth.

Maybe, Seungcheol was still scared.

Maybe he was nervous for the two of you to be “real.”

However, he wanted it to be real – not that his feelings and gestures towards you these past six months were fake.

He wanted to know what it was like to love you loudly and quietly, and everything in between. He wanted to know the thrill of picking you up and dropping you off inside the cafe in front of Jisoo, instead of the street corner. He didn’t want to think twice about kissing you in front of your older brother. He wanted to hold your hand comfortably and proudly, knowing you were genuinely his.

Choi Seungcheol wanted you and only you, and as naïve as he knew it was, perhaps he wanted you for as long as he lived. And it made his heart swell knowing perhaps you wanted the same.

But there was also the possibility he was wrong, and he didn’t realize this until you pulled away from his embrace, your arms falling limp and pooling in the space between him and you.

“Can you wait for me?” you asked suddenly, your voice just as quiet as before.

It was not Seungcheol’s turn to be heartbroken, cracks forming in his heart like a dam worn by the rush of water. “Wait?”

You tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear and nodded slowly.

He frowned. “What do you mean ‘wait’?”

Did you break the news gently to him or did you do it fast like a band-aid on an old wound?

You chose the latter.

“I got accepted to a study abroad program in Greece,” you explained, carefully watching his face twist, a frown lacing his face. Though he knew he should probably be happy for you, he couldn't hide his disappointment, pressing his lips into a thin line, his chin crinkling.

Seungcheol’s heart sank knowing where this was going. You had never mentioned Greece to him, or anyone in your circle before. He's been around, friends with your friends now - he would've heard. Where was all this coming from? So sudden?

“I’m leaving in August.”

El Rancho Vegas opened the midnight Chuck Wagon in November 1946, introducing Las Vegas to the all-you-can-eat buffet.

“Las Vegas officialdom and ‘cafe society’ turned out en masse last evening to attend the gigantic opening of the new Chuck Wagon service at El Rancho Vegas … the ‘chuck wagon’ will be a regular nightly feature of El Rancho’s entertainment and will be served from 1 o’clock in the morning until 4. Starting at 4 o’clock, a savory breakfast will be service ‘on the house’ until 6 o’clock.” - W. Williams. “Chuck Wagon: El Rancho Inaugurates New Feature.” Review-Journal, 11/21/46.

This local news coverage did not credit the Chuck Wagon to anyone in particular. Some forty years later Herb McDonald, El Rancho's publicist in 1946, claimed credit for starting the buffet.

“About three nights in a row, I was working a late shift and I was hungry. So I went to the bar and brought out some cheeses and other things to a hidden area near the bar. Some customers saw said, Gee, I would like some of that. And I started a midnight buffet.” - “Herb McDonald: LV's promoter extraordinaire.” The Nevadan, 1/3/82.

Other source have credited El Rancho owner Beldon Katleman's Buckaroo Buffet at El Rancho Vegas as the originator. However, Katleman was not associated with the hotel until the 50s; Buckaroo Buffet was a service started in the mid 50s. In 1946, El Rancho Vegas was owned by Sanford Adler.

Pre-dating El Rancho's midnight Chuck Wagon by four years, Hotel Last Frontier had a midnight "snack bar" service on weekends which looks like the same concept.

Disclaimer: messy

Muffet - Snowdin tea and bakery owner. Close relationship with Skeles. Puts cayenne pepper in many versions foods - spicy sweets. Has a few (like 3) setup for spider checkers - a checkers game with an otcoganol board. Waffle-coffee house. Speciality is spider Waffles, Soft Boiled spider Eggs, and Spider coffee

Muffet is a very hairy spider/rancho with scales/hairs all over body like the fluff of a moth. Helps with insulation. Smaller spider monsters are primarily covered in fluff for extra insulation with only tips of legs visible. Spiders wear little uniforms - usually hats/ribbons/tassels

Diner is covered in trap magic - one of many reasons no one causes a lot of trouble - snowdin in general assumed to be covered

Unlike skelebros Muffet can completely hide her trap magic unless someone is looking for it. Or at the very least her anchors are extremely small/needs less.

Smaller spiders may also use trap magic -> mainly just related to their physical silk.

Silk is heavily used in wardrobe and general materials.

Muffet must be seated the majority of the time the diner is open due to outgrowing the building. She doesn’t need to move much to reach every corner of the diner.

Double doors allow Muffet to leave through front if needed but she prefers to use the basement exit that leads to an enlarged basement - big enough for her to move properly, with a separate door out the back of the diner.

Muffet does not often actually leave and the back door is usually locked tight and hidden behind trash and webs. Since she has space to move in her home below she doesn’t see a lot of reason to leave.

Enjoys cooking and making sweet confections with her kin. Finds Sans and Papyrus cute - seen Papyrus grow up. A little older than Sans.

Spider eggs served to help keep populations acceptable. Boiled in a dust bath -> turning the interior monster into a weird edible savory jelly-like creature that is excited to be eaten. They feel no pain and usually find weird entertainment from being eaten in pieces. Not offended if eaten head first.

Diner spiders may actually be at LV 2 -> spiders have their own leveling customs. Basement spiders LV 1 - part of why Muffet and Diner Spiders are partial to Paps and Sans

While being a diner doesn’t actually care how long anyone is there. Closes late opens early -> most of Muffets time is dedicated to business with closing hours uses for rest, self care, and baking for the next day.

Probably has early days and maybe takes a “Websday” off once a month or so. !!she would be big enough and strong enough to easily go to Hotland or the capital if she wanted fancier supplies. !! <- gives part of reason for being so dedicated to the diner. Maybe gets special stuff for her kin/herself. Also cares about residents of Snowdin in her own way.

Like the idea of some of the bigger spiders acting rough and having little spiked bats to emphasize her kind of hard-punk/street gang aesthetic

Alphys - captain of the guard, watches over Waterfall but mostly has attention elsewhere ruling by name alone. Has Stone generally look after it. Originally from Hotland, met Undyne while stationed in Waterfall. Ascends (playing with words dunno if like that) in genocide route. Maybe something Al or Alph <- not a lot of options even with Alf.

Absolute Alphys? Alphys Ascendant

Her gameplay is similiar to Undynes except instead of blocking the player has to shoot her attacks like a game of asteroids.

Undyne - Royal scientist spicy fish yandere-like/light. Drinks beer enjoys super violent manga. Mew Mew -> Bork Bork

Jewel has a rough relationship with Undyne. Initially they were friends but after Undyne met Alphys she started to gain more level. It once got away from her and Jewel had to shortcut away from her as she was undeterred by Sans protection due to her own relationship with Alphys. She moved to Hotland not long after; secretly regretting her actions and not trusting herself in Waterfall any longer.

Napstablook -> Retraton - RTT // Retraton Para -> translates into shared HP forcing use of consumables along with cursor that copy’s players movements // maybe Retrabot to play off being an automaton vs mettaton being robot // Retrabot Para

Retraton held in place/ can’t move legs. Instead commands show through others monsters/puppets/effects. Usually broadcasts tragedies. (stone in turn loves tragedies lmao)

Has Rounded mascot form - form that is held in place. Para is transformation - still held but with extending arms.

Retraton Para - has extra arms.

Previously Napstablook -> taken to Undyne when Alphys found her missing her home; neighbor of Undyne. Forced into robot when he kept trying to return home.

Songs are very sad and yearning. TV shows are A Lot but also uses a lot of effects because it’s not like there’s infinite monsters.

May not actively star is show frequently but instead use puppets || marionette puppets his cast and narrates -> sometimes puppets are real monsters Retraton has some sort of relationship with surrounding monsters hinting at his Para form.

Para - kills Undyne before protag can activating Para form. Para uses Undynes soul. Might kill surrounding monsters / connected monsters as well.

Retraton - no use of legs - part of why puppets. Maybe needs to remain charged or frequently and feels more comfortable plugged in.

Arms > legs.

Box Form -> literally just a box with arms - no wheel. Has to drag himself or walk with his arms. Maybe has a hover butt? Or a skateboard. Or has lots of little legs. Roomba.

Mettaton(MTT)- Hapstablook

Instead of lie on the floor feeling like garbage they sit on the roof and consider love.

Gaster and Riverperson -

Stay in their respective posts however Gaster speaks in song and the Riverperson speaks in hands

Riverperson - gondola (gondoga) dog theme, speaks in hands, gondola above river because river water is too dangerous

Grillby - fire sale; father of fireflies literally flames with wings. Has a pet Fryfly - long fry-like fly. Instead of forcing player onto strings covers the field with hazards and fire. Have to switch and jump over between flames.

Pacified by firesauce (increases damage, possible burn damage, take one damage for spice) or Frenchfire (a firefly with an exploding baguette - covering the board around you in fire for one turn and burning any incoming attacks) or the purchase of either from his Hotland firesale.

Prices may be inverted to some extent -> Hotland Prices are cheaper but u need both items to pacify him. Ruins are achievable but ridiculously expensive. Only need one to immediately pacify him. Differentiated by name is Hotland Firesauce vs Old/Ruin Firesauce

“Hyung, is everything alright?” Soonyoung noticed his older friend looking very spaced out. Jeonghan, Joshua, Wonwoo and Soonyoung were having a conversation about their previous class with Wonwoo and Soonyoung questioning the older guys how they felt about this faculty given that this was an extra credit class for them. Seungcheol, on the other hand, was quietly eating, and not engaging in the conversation. It took Seungcheol a while to realise that the question was directed to him.

“Hm? Oh yeah, I’m fine.”

“That is definitely a very convincing answer.” Jeonghan remarks.

“Oh right. How was working with Ms Ghost?” Wonwoo questions, earning a quizzical look from Joshua.

“Her name is Y/N and she probably hates me.” Seungcheol doesn’t bother looking up from his plate.

“Mr Has Everyone’s Heart failed to get his crush’s heart?” Soonyoung jokes. Seungcheol kicks his chair ever so slightly for his comment.

“Am I the only one who doesn’t understand?” Joshua asks. Wonwoo and Soonyoung explain the whole library story to Joshua and Jeonghan and mention that they both believe he has a crush on her.

Seungcheol quietly explains what happened in class. “Why did I even ask her to be the assistant leader when quite literally everyone else would’ve been down for it?” He also remarked on the fact that you and Chan pretty much held hands for a good amount of time before the lesson started. He honestly didn’t believe he even liked you enough to consider it a crush. He was more likely intrigued by you if anything.

You were one who found the quiet comforting. However, the silence right now, felt almost deafening. It’s been an hour since the 3 of you got to the cafe. The conversation from earlier had died down and the 3 of you were sitting in silence. You had gone over the recent event so many times in your head so much so you were sure you could recite the day and its events in your sleep.

Now what? You wondered. You somehow found an enemy, got asked to be the assistant leader of your group by Mr Has Everyone’s Attention and 2 of your friends now know that you knew the guy from the library.

The buzz of your and Chan’s phone pulls you back into reality. It’s a message from Ryujin.

Ryujin: So when do you guys want to meet up to do this assignment?

You glance over to Chan to see him typing up a response. "Hey Y/n, is it ok if I say we're both free on the weekend and Wednesday?" Chan asks and you nod.

The both of you had the same schedule. On Wednesdays, you both only had 1 online class which you didn't need to be actively present for. You just had to do the class's quiz before the next scheduled class for the attendance to count. You didn't have anything on the weekends and neither did Chan.

Chan: y/n & i are free on wednesday & the weekend!

Yuna: we're free on wednesday too!

Yuna responds to Chan's message almost instantly, indicating that she & Ryujin would be able to meet on Wednesday.

Now you both wait for Seungcheol's response. Jun notices the way you tense up when you see that Seungcheol is typing and chuckles. "For someone who isn't interested, you seem to care too much about him," he puts a slight emphasis on the him.

Cheol: yeah I'm free on Wednesday too

Ryujin: great! I'll book a study room at the library and send the details in a bit.

Wednesday.

Doyeon practically drags you out of bed after your alarm rings for the second time. Chan had told her to make sure you don’t make an excuse to avoid having to go to the meeting. Not that you would have skipped or anything but just as a safety measure. She was up earlier than you working on an assignment and hearing you snooze your second alarm made her question whether or not you were going to skip. You weren’t intending on skipping but the thought of having to go was making you dread the day before it even started.

You got ready and made some coffee before heading out. Chan had told you earlier that he would drop by your room to pick you up so that you could go to the library together. You managed to finish your coffee before Chan got to your dorm so you both decided to drop by the cafe to get a drink before heading out to the library. Somehow the both of you managed to be early so you decided to have a chat with Ms Oh before going up to the room that Ryujin booked.

You were hoping that the girls would come in before Seungcheol did for the sake of your own sanity. Just as you had wished, Ryujin and Yuna were already in the room when you and Chan walked in. Yuna greets the both of you and you both greet her back. Seungcheol makes it into the room just in time. Ryujin suggests the group does the assignment together instead of splitting the parts to get to know one another's working style better.

Ryujin, Yuna and Seungcheol seem to be the kind to talk out any ideas and thoughts they have. You and Chan started taking pointers from their conversations in a shared document and making references to notes that back up their points. Chan occasionally voiced out his points and the notes both of you were taking. When there were questions raised on topics they didn't fully understand, you found answers and explained it to them in the best way you could. This led to Seungcheol directing his questions to you. At first you thought he was just raising questions and directing them to you because you were looking up the answers. But as time went by, it became clear that he wasn’t raising questions he didn't know the answers to. To be able to form such questions, you need to have thorough knowledge of the topic. And then it strikes you. He wasn’t asking because he didn’t understand. He’s asking because it gets you to talk more than you were. You see Yuna and Chan diligently taking notes from your answers and Seungcheol’s questions.

You tried your best to avoid looking at Ryujin in fear of what her reaction might be. Yuna, on the other hand, didn’t seem too bothered over the fact that you had Seungcheol’s undivided attention. Yuna seemed comfortable taking notes with Chan and it now seemed to be her turn to have small discussions with Chan in the shared document. All discussions soon came to an end after the team gathered all of the necessary information. All that was left was to write out all of the notes into proper answers for your assignment questions. Each of you picked a question to tidy up and once you were done, you did a quick scan through of all the answers to make sure there were no spelling errors.

“Great work everyone!” Yuna seemed a lot more cheery today than she had during your first encounter. Ryujin, however, looked even grumpier than you remembered. All of you pack your bags and get ready to leave. Ryujin picks up a conversation with Seungcheol as the group exits the room and Yuna strolls behind with you and Chan.

“So, are you two dating?” Yuna asks. You almost spit out the last bit of coffee you were drinking.

“What? No.” Chan looks equally as shocked as you.

"Ah. I just wanted to ask since you know, you two seem very close and you were both holding hands for a good chunk of our class on Monday."

"Oh, no, we're just best friends and the holding hand bit is just something that helps to ground me when my anxiety gets bad." You say, hoping to clarify the situation. Yuna giggles a little.

As you approach the front desk, you hear Ms Oh. “So you two met?”

Seungcheol turns around to look at you and smirks a little, “Yeah, we did.”

Ms Oh explained to you that Seungcheol spent 3 weeks trying to book the room you were in and on the last day he checked, he happily left without saying anything.

“There’s literally a 100 other rooms in this library and probably a 100 more in the library on the other side of the campus.” Ryujin remarks.

“Yeah, but that was the room I wanted to book.”

You could practically see the dark cloud forming over Ryujin’s head. Yuna runs up to Ryujin and tells the group they have another meeting to attend to and practically drags Ryujin out of the library.

The first thing I hated about him is that he knows how to be an ass.

Games -you don't need to be together physically to play video games. Again, Tae didn't say when and where. Tae mentioned playing with Jimin too, in the same video. Maybe all 3 played together. Like how do tkkrs immediately think it was just Taekook alone and off work?

About the trip... there were travel restrictions in SK, they were doing an online concert then. Jk had that hair color during LV photoshoot and online concert. Clearly, they weren't "traveling" then. And they didn't post that full pic, it was just cropped to the 2 of them. We dont know where that was taken or who else was with them ( some accounts on Twitter posted that it was the set of LV photoshoot). And the official translations say "recommended clothes" to each other not "dressed each other up".

Yes, Jimin speaks the most. But, Jk acknowledges the things Jimin says in front of him. Jk has also spoken about being with Jimin or eating food with him, going to Jimin's room, having a rain fight and crying and patching up, boxing with Jimin, etc. JK has said he only met jihope during their last break. JK has spoken about drinking with Jimin and carrying him and getting a bite in the neck. There is a whole gcf of their tokyo trip. There's plenty from JK too. I don't recall Jk talking about hanging out with V. During the LA vminkook vlive, V asked the staff to get Jk to join. But Jimin could just pick the phone and call jk and ask him to come. Do they see the difference there (based on the timeline and haircolor, whatever that Taekook "trip" was should have happened before LA concert and yet Tae is unable to call Jk on the phone?)?.

And it isn't always just Jimin 'talking' about Jungkook. Jimin has literally posted pictures and videos with Jungkook from their off schedule... We hear the members talk about them together as a unit. We heard waiter in LV mention they visited together and had fun and that the 2 sat separately from the rest. We get pictures of them hanging out together with friends, from local fans. We see their signatures at tattoo parlour and tattoo artist confirming they visited together. Jin called Jimin during his bday vlive and Jungkook was with Jm. Even Tae confirmed Jk was in Jimin's room the most in LA, and he thought Jimin's room was Jk's. There's a lot more. So one shouldn't say it's only Jimin talking. It's not true. There's more than just "Jimin talking" there to prove they are closest and spending time together off work. And not to forget their families, the way Jk's mom said I love you to Jimin and Jm's dad having Jk's stuff in their cafe display. Or Jk's bro liking Jm fan arts on Insta.

We never hear anything about Taekook as such. Even the members dont speak of them together the way they automatically speak of Jm and Jk. Yeah Tae said a couple of things, but there are no receipts to it or they are just poor translations.

I do see some improvement in their dynamic since since 2021, I see Tae is the one really trying to make that connection. But i still dont think they hang out together by themselves, without at least one other member with them. They are clearly not the closest duo.

And about woonga squad following Jk...why won't they also follow Jm? Isn't Jm V's soulmate? If they are following Jk cause Jk is close to V, then by that logic they should follow Jm too. That's why Insta following isn't proof of anything.

Oh anon, I'm aware of all this. But you know, it just falls on deaf ears for those who are really set in their beliefs. The differences are quite significant. I don't like to talk of friendships and closeness in terms of a competition because it leads to nowhere and it only creates more discord, but we all have the facts in front of us and we can draw a conclusion. That's all I'm going to say.

In this context, it's even more ridiculous to hear opinions on Jimin and JK not being close because of some trivial reasons, as if it's going to erase everything else.

This debate and competition will never stop. At least not in the immediate future and fans will always believe what they want and what fits with their own ideas about the friendship within BTS. Even though our perceptions are very subjective, it's important to have the entire picture in mind and remember not only the facts, but also what the members actually say.
