#I feel very lucky that I didn’t get struck by lightning

It turns out almost getting struck by lightning was actually really good for me. I’ve been a lot less stressed lately and I genuinely think it’s because that experience changed my outlook on things and put into perspective what really matters. It’s crazy but I’m just much more relaxed about things I would’ve been stressed about and I’m looking forward to so many things.

“This is dumb,” you announce as you kick at the stone that’s keeping you sealed in this small cavern. “Why don’t I just-”
“Because you already tried that, Commander, and it nearly killed us.” Cody interrupted from where he’s sitting on a rock, his helmet sitting on the ground at his feet, “Relax. The General and the others will find us, as soon as the fighting is done.”
You huff and sit on the rock next to Cody, leaning your weight against him, “I know, I know. I just don’t like it when Master is fighting without me to watch his back.”
“The rest of the 212 is there, they won’t let anything happen to him.” Cody replies as he drapes his arm over your shoulder, “Besides, it’s not so bad being locked in here with me, is it?” There’s a hint of teasing in his voice and you nudge him gently.
“I suppose it could be worse.” You allow with a sigh.
Cody laughs, and his fingers find the length of your padawan braid, which he slowly runs through his fingers. It’s something of a habit for him, whenever the two of you are alone, he’ll find your braid and run his fingers over the beads indicating your achievements.
“So, do you get a bead for fighting in a war?” Cody asks after a long silence.
“Steel.” You reply absently, “It’ll be my second one. Assuming I survive the war.”
“You will.”
“Yeah? You think so?”
“If you think death is going to get you out of this relationship-”
You laugh, your head tilting back to thump lightly against his shoulder, “That would be something to see, wouldn’t it? You in a relationship with a force ghost.”
Cody sniffs, “Needs must and all.” He trails his fingers up to the base of your braid, where the first steel bead is located, “I had wondered about this one,” He admits, “It stands out compared to the others.”
“Mm. Master and I were sent to negotiate a peace treaty for a planet locked in civil war…it ended poorly.” You explain easily, “There was an explosion and we got separated, and ended up having to fight in the war.”
“What happened?”
You release a humorless laugh, “People died. People lived. More people died. I developed an allergy to red meat, and got struck by lightning. Master nearly lost his leg to a landmine. It was a whole thing.”
“...sounds miserable.”
“Isn’t that just what war is?” You counter lightly, “At least this time I haven’t been struck by lighting. That sucked, Cody. Like really bad. Still have the scar, Master Che couldn’t do anything about it.”
Cody dropped your braid and his fingers drifted to your left arm, where the scar lies hidden under your robes, “I’m guessing you were struck here.”
“Mm, I was lucky that Master was right there or I wouldn’t have survived. The electricity entered my left arm, crossed my chest, and exited out the right. Stopped my heart.”
“Well, I’m glad that you didn’t die. My life is better with you in it.” Cody says lightly.
“Yes, I know.” You smile up at him, “Shame that this whole thing is forbidden.”
“I’m fairly certain that the General knows.” Cody says dryly, “On account of the very firm talking to he gave me about respecting your boundaries and not pressuring you into anything you’re not ready for.”
At that you burst out laughing. “Oh, I’m sure he knows. But Master’s been married since he was 20, so he’s not about to lecture me about anything.”
Cody’s head snaps to the side, “General Kenobi’s married!?”
You grin, “He married Master Vos years ago.”
Cody’s jaw dropped, “He married Quinlan Vos? Why?”
You laugh, “I assume it’s because he loves him.” You sit up and press a quick kiss to Cody’s cheek, and you laugh when he turns to catch your lips in a deep kiss.
“So that means that we can get married, right?” Cody asks.
“Mm, someday. After the war.” You reply lightly, and your fingers brush against his cheek and you lean in to kiss him deeply, passionately.
Cody blinks at you, visibly having to reset his brain, “Right. Right, so Dooku and Grievous. And then a wedding.”
You laugh, “It’s a date.” And then you tilt your head to the side, as if listening to something only you can hear, “Master and the others are here.”
“Great, this cave kind of sucks.” Cody catches your hand as you get to your feet, “Love you, cyare.”
Your smile softens, and you lean in to kiss the tip of his nose, “Love you more.”
“Not possible,” Cody finishes with an easy smile, before he gets to his feet as well.
Time to go back to the war.

A Fatal Fetish
Malcolm walked to the door with a smile on his face. Today was his lucky day. He could already see two shapes in the frosted glass and he felt very privileged. It was his favourite time of the month. His wife was away with work as per usual and he had arranged a sensual tantric massage from the regular agency he used. It had been a shame when he was told his regular masseuse was away but the agency promised to deliver two women to him instead of one and the thought was a delightful one.
He opened the door, beaming as he saw two shapely women. There was a blonde woman wearing a pinstriped skirt suit with no blouse, giving him a tantalising view of the black lace bra she was wearing. Her companion was a redhead wearing a black dress and wearing elbow-high leather gloves. He bit his lip at the treat.
“Mr Williamson?” the blonde lady enquired.
“Indeed” he said, putting on his best manners, “do please come in”.
“Thank you” she said, smiling politely. She walked into the house and Malcolm glanced at her breasts as he did so. He couldn’t wait til the jacket would come off and he would see the look of her bra. He wondered what sexy underwear the redhead would be wearing too.
“I’ve set up in the bedroom” he said, pointing up the stairs, “but could I offer you a drink?”
“A water would be lovely” the redhead answered and he noticed her accent was American, not British like the blonde woman. Malcolm smiled and led her towards the kitchen. He turned to get a glass when he felt a movement behind him. Something sharp pressed into his neck before a searing pain erupted in his body. It felt like he had been struck by lightning. His nerves fired and he cried out briefly before all went to black.
—---
Malcolm’s head swam as he wrenched himself from his dreams. The world spun for a few seconds and he wondered if he was still asleep. He remembered the pain in his neck. Had that been a dream too? He tried to move but realised he could not. ‘Why?’ he pondered. There was something on his hands. It was rope. His senses came further to and he realised he was not lying down but sitting up in a chair. He saw a woman with red hair and a black dress and the memory started to flood back to him. She held something towards him and he focussed his eyes on it.
“Drink this” she said, “trust me, it’s for the best”.
Malcolm’s throat was dry and he did as she said, leaning forward to let her tip the liquid into his mouth. It was like an isotonic drink and it helped him focus more. He felt less nauseous and began to comprehend where he was.
It looked like he was in some kind of cellar area, but beyond that it was hard to say. He was only wearing his boxer shorts and his feet were against the cold stone ground but bound to the chair on which he sat.
“Where…where am I?” he asked.
“I wouldn’t worry about that” the redhead answered, “just try to relax”. Malcolm looked around the room again. In one direction was an old folding screen for someone to change behind. There was also another chair nearly opposite him and a small table next to that. Something black was on the table but he couldn’t make out what it was.
“Drink some more” the redhead said, putting the cup to his mouth. He did so gladly, feeling better with every sip, the nausea wearing off. He finished the cup and the redhead put it down. “Good work” she said. She held up a small black device and pressed a button. Malcolm saw the end spark with electric volts and realised it was a taser. “Nasty little thing right?” she said. “Well don’t worry, I think we can make up for it”.
It was all a confusing situation to Malcolm. He still didn’t understand where he was. Had they really used a taser on him? Why? None of it made sense to him. “What’s…what’s going on?” he asked. Was this part of a special service for him? A new kind of erotic experience?
“Perhaps we should elaborate” Malcolm heard the voice of the blonde woman and saw her stepping out from behind the privacy screen. His eyes almost popped from his head. She had taken off the skirt suit and he now saw her wearing the black lace plunge bra and black knickers. On her legs were tan hold-up stockings, a perfect compliment to her body. He surveyed her but then his eyes saw her hands as she brought them to her front. She was holding a black handgun and the other hand was screwing in what looked to be a silencer into the gun.
His mind swam. What was this? He looked towards the redhead and to his surprise saw that she had also picked up a gun from the table and was screwing a silencer into its end. “I…I…what?” he simply stammered.
“Ah yes, I appreciate this may not be quite the service you were expecting” the blonde woman said. “Allow me to explain Malcolm. See, my name is Lauren, and this is my good friend Sally” she indicated towards the redhead, who flashed him a smile. “I’m afraid that a rather large bounty has been placed on your head…a little too many…developments at your work”.
Malcolm frowned. What did his work have to do with things? He was a senior developer working on security software but why did that matter? Why had these two women got guns?
“Now the good news Malcolm” the blonde who called herself Lauren continued, “is that I like to be fair to the men I kill. We know that you have a particular enjoyment of a lady’s undergarments. Like say…these that I’m wearing”. The blonde ran her hand up and over her breast and Malcolm stared at the detail of the black lace. It was tantalising. “And so”, the woman continued, I’ll make you a deal. For every bullet you take, I’ll let you look at another of my bras”.
“I…I…” Malcolm was stunned and didn’t know how to reply. The woman was undoubtedly sexy and he wanted to see more. Was the bullet thing a joke?.
“I’ll take that as a yes” Lauren said, and Malcolm saw the redhead Sally marching towards him. He just about saw the tape in her hand before it was affixed over his mouth. He tried to cry out in alarm but it was sticky and his words were caught in it. “Trust me” Lauren said, “better for everyone’s enjoyment if we can’t hear you scream”.
Sally chuckled while Lauren moved to being centre in front of Malcolm’s vision. “Now let’s start easy” she said, “with this beautiful black lace plunge bra. So simple, so effective”. She raised her gun and Malcolm panicked. What was to happen? Pfft. The gun fired and he felt a dull impact in his shin. It was painful and he shouted but his screams were muffled by the tape. Adrenaline rushed into his head, trying to numb the pain.
The blonde woman had disappeared behind the changing screen. ‘Oh my god’ Malcolm realised, ‘she wasn’t joking. She will kill me’. He felt a wave of resignation but then focussed. If he was to die, he might as well enjoy the show. The strange logic gave him some comfort as he heard the blonde step out again onto the hard floor in her heels. She was wearing a new bra.
“Now this is one I don’t wear as much as I should” Lauren gave commentary. “Nice dark blue colour, padded balcony bra. Not the most expensive in the world, but it does a nice job, yes?”. Malcolm looked on it. It gave a lift up to her breasts and he could almost see her breasts heaving against it. It enhanced her cleavage beautifully. She raised her gun in her hand towards Malcolm and he felt a rush of fear again before -pfft- the fear turned into searing pain, this time in his shoulder. He gritted his teeth and tried to push through, breathing heavily to try and manage the agony of the hot bullet in his shoulder. He felt a dripping onto his chest and realised he was bleeding.
He looked towards the blonde again but she was already walking away behind the changing screen. Malcolm fought through the pain but as he did so, he noticed something strange. There was a bulge in his trousers and he realised he was erect. He pulled at his bonds, not wanting to escape, but more to try and put a hand on his shaft and give himself some relief.
Lauren returned from the screen and Malcolm felt himself quietly say “Oh wow”, but his voice was muffled by the tape on his mouth. Lauren and Sally both sensed he was happy and chuckled. She had changed into a colourful pink lace bra with bright orange straps.
“Oh good” she said, “I’m glad you like a bit of colour. I do rather like this. It’s got a bit more coverage than normal but the lace details are so lovely, don’t you think?”
Malcolm managed a nod. The gun was raised in his direction again. Pfft. That shot was into his gut and Malcolm felt the bullet burying away into his fat and stomach. It knocked the wind out of him. He writhed his head from the agony of the shot and when he looked up, Lauren had disappeared again.
“Oh don’t worry boy, all over soon” he heard Sally say. She had walked over to him and placed her suppressed gun between Malcolm’s leg, up against the bulge in his trousers. She stroked the end of her silencer against him and he felt himself moan a little, both in pain but also in a strange pleasure from the sensation. “Good boy” Sally whispered to him, “mmm, very good boy”.
She withdrew from his body as Lauren reappeared from behind the changing screen, this time in a bra with black straps but a mesh front with coloured flowers on the cups. “Gorgeous isn’t it?” Lauren said, sensing his admiration despite the pain he was in, “Agent Provocateur this time. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. This is their Callypso bra and it gives beautiful shape to me”.
Malcolm stared at her breasts. They were lifted and looked perfect, with the right amount of cleavage. He kept focussed on them as he felt -pfft- another shot go into his chest. His eyes closed momentarily. He could feel blood flowing and the room was spinning. ‘No’ he thought, ‘no, I want…more’.
“Oh, poor boy is getting hurt” Sally’s voice crept into his head. “Let me try stir some life in you”. Malcolm felt his trousers being undone and then a warmth as Sally’s mouth closed around his cock.
“Ooooh” he felt himself saying, the adrenaline in his body kicking into overdrive. The redhead was bobbing her head up and down on his shaft and he didn’t know what was real any more. She left him unsatisfied, and he realised his strength was fading. Another bullet would kill him for sure.
Lauren returned and Malcolm looked at her. She had changed into a bright blue padded plunge bra. He tried to focus but felt his eyes drooping. “Well a nice blue plunge number to…” Lauren’s voice trailed off, “Oh dear Malcolm, is it time? Such a shame, I had so many more options for you” she teased. Malcolm’s eyes rolled. Her voice was so beautiful and lovely. His cock ached or was it his body? He couldn’t tell any more.
“You did well” Sally was saying. “So good, let’s give you a treat for this last one”. Malcolm looked to see her stripping off her black dress. It fell to the ground and he gazed on the shining straps of the Victoria Secret red bra and knickers she was wearing. It complimented her fiery hair.
“Goodbye Malcolm” Lauren said. Malcolm could see them both standing in their lingerie, silenced guns pointed towards him. He tried to take in one last focussed view of the colours of their bras before pfft-pfft-pfft-pfft-pfft-pfft-pfft-pfft, the pistols were firing, his vision went black and he fell back to the floor and oblivion beneath it.

I loooooved this part: "I said that you were to bring her here, unharmed! You were to hurt the others, but not her. Never her."
The woman with curled, taloned fingers made a gesture. "Well… she’s not injured."
There was a crack, as the other person struck her across the face, lightning fast. Rosalie flinched at the sound.
"You are lucky the sun is set, or I would simply order you to walk yourself outside." He told her. Then he leaned in close, hand tightened on the woman’s shoulder, and began to say something low in her ear.
Rose drifted, as he did.
She came back, when someone crouched down in her periphery and placed a gentle hand on her face, to guide her gaze to him. The room came back into focus, after it had almost disappeared entirely. The figure was dressed in an immaculate suit, that became creased and scuffed, as he knelt down in front of her.
Firelight danced across his pale face and gave warmth to his hair, as he examined her with what she thought was a mournful expression. She looked back at him muzzily. After a syrupy length of time when everything was strange, he finally came into focus as well.
Astarion.
Rose recognised him on sight. She knew his name, when she barely knew her own.
After this small period of time, lost and unmoored, warmth spread through her chest at the sight of him: relief, love, and an immediate sense of safety. He said something to her - but she couldn’t understand it, and she found she couldn’t reply. When she opened her mouth to tell him she had missed him, that she was scared, nothing came out but an aborted sound.
His face darkened to anger, but it didn’t really matter to her. It was just such a comfort to finally have an anchor.
Without remembering any reason not to, Rose leant forward, and pressed her face into his shoulder, hands still limp in her own lap. Putting all her weight against him, she buried deeper, screwed her eyes tight shut and breathed him in.
She didn’t want to experience any of the confusion of the rest of the world, not when she had this certainty.
A pause. A hand, on the back of her head, cradling her and pulling her in closer. Had he been sat as well, Rosalie would have crawled into his lap - instead, she shuffled closer on the floor, as close as she could get, and sighed gratefully, as he stroked her hair and that scary world all but fell away.
Too soon, Astarion pulled back, and held her away from him. Rose made a wordless, weak sound of protest, for she didn’t want him to go.
"I’m so sorry, love," he murmured. His hand was on her cheek again, stroking her to soothe her through her panic.
"This was never supposed to happen," he said, voice low and vehement. "I would never want something like this for you, do you understand? I would never have you lose yourself."
Thank you for playing anon <3 x
Ahhh, Feeblemind. My cardinal sin. Some fic writers go to Hell for horny jail reasons, I will go to Hell for using Feeblemind.
"I said that you were to bring her here, unharmed!" - this was the exact order that Hemlock, who is ALSO Int 20, was given... which is why she could injure Rose in the battle and just heal her afterwards. So long as Rosalie arrived to the mansion unharmed, Astarion's command was obeyed to the letter - it genuinely is his fault what happened, not the spawn's
(well, maybe a little the spawn's, Hemlock's alignment is not good and she's working through her own issues).
Also, I feel like Feeblemind is the correct answer to the problem!! It doesn't injure her!! It's reversible!! How else are you supposed to get a wizard to a secondary location???
We'll see what order he gave Hemlock in the next chapter (I think? the next chapter is super long so it may get broken up a little) but it was *not* to go into a coffin, I promise. But this Ascended!Astarion is very much a person who does not give an order here, so much as say to Hemlock "Well, you know what you've done, don't you? If you want to make it up to me, you need to...." so it's offered as a choice, while not really being a choice, but in such a way that it is, technically, different from Cazador, (and in my opinion, worse).
So the whole reason I used Feeblemind, as we know, is for the line: "The creature can’t cast spells, activate magic items, understand language, or communicate in any intelligible way. The creature can, however, identify its friends, follow them, and even protect them." Absolutely heinous spell text. This is on Wizards of the Coast, not me.
Anyway, I loved the idea of when someone is a blank slate, all that's left is who they love and want to protect. Ultimately, that is Rosalie's underlying motive: even if she's claiming she wants to kill Ascended!Astarion, that comes from a place of love for the original man, and there's no way with Int 1 to distinguish between the two. She's stripped down to her barest motive, which is still, love for this man.
She also just has none of the baggage of their past in this moment. She recognises him on sight, and that's all that matters.
Look, there's a few reasons why Ascended!Astarion wasn't a predator in this moment :-) 1. I'm not a Dead Dove writer, I wasn't interested in going through the more grim directions this spell could take us. 2. He likes Rose for her personality, which has been wiped away here (both Int and Cha scores - her two highest stats funnily enough - are gone), so he wouldn't actually want a braindead version of her. He wants the person who challenges and entertains him, and ultimately the person he loves.
3. I've said this a lot in comments, but Feeblemind is the Ugliest Version of what he wants. A spawn would still have a personality. A spawn would still have freedom, if he allowed it. But they are also, if you strip it away, a mindless puppet. Here, there's only the brutal truth: there's no way to romanticise what's happening, or explain it away, and there's no way to pretend it isn't inherently predatory, and a violation. So... of course Astarion is disgusted, and wants it to be gone from his eyeline as quickly as possible. Gods forbid he ever actually pauses to self reflect on what he's actually trying to do, and learn some ugly truths about himself.
Look, that line about him being a perfect suit that he then immediately dirties to comfort her? It was self-indulgent.
But also... what if this version of Astarion got a hug? I feel like, maybe he needs one. It fixed him in Act 2, right? So maybe it does the same here? :')

(Y/N) was late.
It wasn't her fault, necessarily. It was only that she'd had a really important interview for a job that she really wanted— for a job that could change her future— and it had run over the time limit she'd set for it, so now she was running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to be on time. As she bumbled and blundered her way around the tiny hotel room she shared with her boyfriend, she felt a horrifying kinship with the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland:
"Oh my fur and whiskers! I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!"
Oh God, it was already eight-thirty and she still needed to touch up her makeup and change and—
"Fuck!" she exclaimed as she nearly tripped over the damn cord to Katsuki's damn keyboard—and then the feeling of missing her damn boyfriend hit hot and heavy as she slowed down enough to process it for a moment.
It was Valentine's Day. She'd woken up to flowers and chocolates on her nightstand, along with a note that Katsuki had left detailing his schedule. He'd asked that she come to his concert this evening, and had left a ticket paper-clipped to the note— but, all told, all the flowers, chocolates, and concert tickets in the world couldn't replace actual time with the man she loved.
One thing at a time, she told herself, reaching for her makeup bag. Just get there, and he'll figure out the rest.
In all her years of knowing him, (Y/N) had never known Katsuki not to have a plan for days like this. Doubtless, despite his busy schedule, he'd eked out some time to spend with her during or after the concert— her mind raced with the possibilities, then raced some more at the thought of her inability to be punctual for once ruining whatever plan he'd made and—
"Fuck!" she cried out again as she jabbed herself in the eye with her mascara wand.
The urge to cry was not just from the jab to her eye, but (Y/N) fought it valiantly. Her makeup and this dress were both too expensive to ruin.
With the frenzied hurry of a demon dancing on the devil's last nerve, (Y/N) gathered all her things— purse, water bottle, keys, and the earrings she'd put in as she drove— and made her way downstairs to the hotel lobby. As she passed the table for complimentary pastries, she grabbed a few and shoved them in her purse— force of habit, since Katsuki was always ravenous after a show and never packed his own snacks. Thankfully, her car was just to the left of the first-floor exit, and with herculean effort, she managed to get everything and then herself into her car without falling, dropping anything, or otherwise causing a catastrophe.
It’s going to be fine, she told herself as she wheeled out of the driveway and onto the road. It’s going to be totally fine.
The words became a mantra as she flew— safely and in a polite manner— down the highway. The world was a blur until she pulled into the driveway of the venue, and even then, (Y/N)’s world didn’t come back into focus until her feet were pounding the pavement on the way to the front of the venue.
“This way, ma’am,” said the greeter who took her ticket, eyes wide with surprise as he read her seating. “How lucky— a front-and-center seat on Valentine’s Day!”
“Yep,” she agreed, fighting for breath as she strode ahead of the greeter, “Very lucky!”
Very lucky indeed. She made it to her seat just as the lights went down in the house.
As usual, Katsuki’s stage presence was met by screaming fans. He was commanding, sexy, confident in the poses he struck— the entire hall lost their minds as he greeted them with signature profanity and enthusiasm. The crowd responded in kind, surging and screaming and writhing— (Y/N) alone stood still in awe and adoration, starstruck and smiling at the man she loved.
Her stillness caught his eye— his eyes met hers, and the way he grinned, hellacious and hungry, sent lightning bolts down to (Y/N)’s very core. There was no time for words, of course, no time to say I love you or to even offer a wink, but words weren’t necessary. Where Katsuki Bakugou was concerned, (Y/N) had always been the only girl in the room.
Even now, after so many trials together, he still gave her butterflies.
Predictably, the concert was fantastic. The energy of the crowd was buoyant with Katsuki’s crisp vocals and the driving music played by the band; (Y/N) was surprised that the performance wasn’t more ballad-heavy, since it was a Valentine’s Day concert, but of course it was likely that Katsuki yet again had some sort of plan. Everything went splendidly, and (Y/N) enjoyed every moment…
… right up until the lights went down on stage, and the crowd went wild for an encore.
When the lights came up, they came up red. Like a bloodied warrior, Katsuki was bathed in deepest crimson, the paleness of his skin and hair reflecting the color brilliantly back at the audience. He took (Y/N)'s breath away as he walked to the very edge of the stage, extending his hand to her.
"Come here, princess."
The words carried straight through to his Madonna mic, and the crowd went silent.
At first, (Y/N) was hesitant— she stayed well away from the spotlight thus far, and for good reason— but her lover's face was open and soft for her, begging her to trust him. Unable to deny Katsuki anything, she took the hand he extended and allowed herself to be pulled clumsily to the stage as fans gasped and cheered, raging with love and envy for their favorite lead singer.
"Hey," she said, smiling at him. They were so close their noses were nearly touching.
"Hey," he replied, softly stroking her cheek with a sweaty thumb.
Slowly, Katsuki turned to face his confused fans. It was so strange— from the stage, (Y/N) couldn't see anything but lights, and yet Katsuki seemed to know every face of every fan as he stared out into their midst.
"Ladies, gentles," he addressed the crowd— this time with his real voice, not the growl of his stage persona. "I'd like to introduce you to my girl."
They'd talked about this before, about being public and introducing (Y/N) to his fans— (Y/N) had been in support of the idea, but they'd never set a date or a time.
No time like the present, I guess, she thought, a little giddy as the crowd cheered for her.
"As some of you may know," Katsuki continued, "It's Valentine's Day today. I showed up here because I fuckin' love all of you— but the love of my life deserves a little something special too, don't you think?"
Again, the crowd went wild with enthusiasm. (Y/N) felt herself flush, too hot under the stage lights.
"So I want to ask you a favor. I'm gonna start you guys off on one of history's most beautiful rock ballads, and since my fans are the best fans— I know you all have fucking beautiful voices— I want you to take over so I can have a dance with my girl. Sound good?"
The crowd cheered once more. Katsuki sent a subtle nod to his band mates, and they began the song, an old, familiar song that (Y/N) knew and loved. True to his word, Katsuki sang the first verse, sweetly, tenderly— but then at the chorus, he switched off his mic and held out his hand to (Y/N) in invitation. Shyly, she took it, and he pulled her close so that they could dance.
"Happy Valentine's, baby," he told her, kissing her forehead as they swayed together. "Did I go a little overboard?"
"A bit," (Y/N) admitted with a tentative giggle, "but I love you, overboard and all."
"Good," he grinned. "Then maybe I can get away with a little extra, too."
So saying, he took a second to reach into the pocket of his flannel. From it, he pulled a ring— a beautiful, sparkling, perfect ring!— and shyly, almost hesitantly offered it to (Y/N), whispering those sweet words in her ear.
"Will you marry me, princess?"
It was sudden. It was impulsive and crazy and not something they'd talked about for the here and now. It was every inch Katsuki Bakugou, and despite herself, (Y/N) found herself smiling even as tears burned her nostrils.
"Yes," she told him, pulling back to meet his eyes. When she did, he was wearing the biggest, most genuine smile she'd ever seen.
"You sure?" he said. "I know we haven't talked about it."
(Y/N) had never been more sure of anything.
"Yeah. Really super sure."
"Good," he grinned, "Cause I'm gonna need you to say it again."
Without preamble, he let go of her, stepped back, and sank to one knee. (Y/N) put her hands to her face, somehow still surprised, and the crowd stopped singing and started screaming again. Faithfully, the band kept playing, and Bakugou turned on his mic to ask the question one more time.
"(Y/N), you are the love of my life," he said, staring up at her in adoration. "I can't imagine my life without you, and I don't want to. Will you marry me?"
(Y/N) said yes. She would say yes a million times over if she could, if he wanted her to.
Katsuki slipped the ring on her finger at the exact moment that the song ended. It felt… big. Not in size, but in emotion.
Katsuki rose to his feet. He pulled her close, kissed her gently— the lights on stage dimmed, and suddenly it was as though they were entirely alone.
"Let's get the fuck out of here," he said, brushing her cheek with his thumb. "I've got a private dressing room and a bottle of champagne waiting on us."
"Then what are we waiting for?" (Y/N) laughed. "Let's go!"
And go they did. The evening was theirs to claim— they stayed in the dressing room for as long as they could stand it, kissing and touching and talking, and when necessity saw them leave, they took a limo back to their hotel room, hardly able to keep their hands off each other.
Later, when they'd done all the things that couples do, Katsuki whispered into her hair:
"Happy Valentine's Day, princess. I love you."
And he did.

Amaris Lavellan
“You're the one they're calling the Herald.” “If you know a way to make them stop, I am all ears.”
Amaris Lavellan is a Dalish elven mage, better known to the world as the Inquisitor, or much to her displeasure and discouragement, the "Herald of Andraste."
Tumblr media
Background
For a long time, the Dalish Clan Lavellan was known as having no magic. Some wondered if a curse was placed on them. It was always necessary to adopt mages from other clans, as none were born from their own. That is, until in the 1st of Cloudreach, 9:11 Dragon, when Amaris came into the picture.
Amaris was a very solitary child, preferring the company of her grandparents, books, and her own imagination over the other children. Early on her parents wondered if there was something ‘wrong’ with her, but dismissed it as simply shyness. When she was 10, her parents adopted a young boy when his parents fled from the city, but did not make it themselves. She was a very mother-like big sister, and it pleased her parents to see her have some social interaction.
Amaris discovered her magic at the age of 12. When practicing archery, (and doing rather poorly at that,) just before releasing the arrow, the target she was aiming at was struck by a bolt of lightning. With clear skies ahead, the clan immediately recognized it as magic, and Amaris was wisped over to the Keeper before she could even fully comprehend what had happened. The Keeper immediately announced her as First… demoting the current studying First to Second, and the current studying Second to Third. While the Second held some resentment towards her, (which she could not blame him,) the Third, Telmala, cared not.
While initially all the praise and attention she was getting made Amaris want to melt into a corner, she soon realized just how lucky she was. She loved spending her days apprenticing the Keeper, and felt it a lot easier to get along with the other two young mages of her clan, as there was always something to talk about in regards to the magic and history they studied. Her parents went from fretting over her spending too much time reading, to not enough. Learning the lore of her people always won over practicing magic. While she grew to become a fine mage, albeit with a near complete lack of offensive spells, her true value and pride was in her knowledge of the people.
Amaris and Telmala connected in particular, and the two young girls developed romantic feelings for each other. Unfortunately, when Amaris was 16 and Telmala was 17, at the Arlathvhen, Telmala was sent to another clan in need of a mage. Telmala didn’t want to go, not only because this was the third clan she would move to, but because it meant the feasible end of her relationship with Amaris, who was also very heartbroken, and remained that way for some time. When the two reunited at the next Arlathvhen of 9:37 Dragon, they even contemplated running away together. However, neither felt they could abandon their clans.Amaris received her vallaslin when she was 21; late for the average Dalish, but she was in no rush. The Keeper suggested the blood writing of Dirthamen, as he bestowed to the elves knowledge, and taught them loyalty and faith in family, something Amaris was “destined to follow in.” She accepted with honour.
Then came the bonding proposals. Suddenly she could no longer find a moment of peace. Men would share their interest in her, and she would turn them down. Amaris knew it was not her they were interested in, but rather her magic, and the idea that their child might have magic. The Keeper encouraged this, stating that Amaris was given a precious gift, and that it was her duty to pass that down. But while Amaris strived to be a good Dalish elf in every way, this was something she simply could not do. For Amaris concluded that while she could be content with a romantic relationship, as the one she had and still ached for with Telmala, she is asexual, with no interest in sexual actiivty. Let alone having a child. Amaris tried to talk to her parents, who only cried for grandchildren. When she tried to talk to the Keeper, the woman simply reminded her that the older she got, the less likely she could deliver a healthy baby, and maybe it was time to finally pick someone, anyone, and then they'd leave her alone. This was the first time Amaris ever argued with the Keeper, and as a result she was made to feel like a child herself. Amaris contemplated this, reasoning that maybe if she just did it and got it over with she could finally be at peace. But the thought made her cringe. So she continued to avoid everyone as best she could.
Involvement
Dragon Age: Inquisition
The day came when a handful of hunters returned in a panic, reporting that war was headed their way. In order to avoid conflict, the clan was forced to leave the countryside and flee to the forest outside of Wycome. When the clan heard news of the Conclave, the Keeper asked Amaris to discreetly attend, and bring back news. The Keeper did not elaborate beyond that, and Amaris didn’t ask, seeing it as a way to put off the pressure to bare a child even longer. So she and a few clan members left to cross the sea into Ferelden. Amaris never assumed she wouldn’t be returning.
Of course, a dose of amnesia and a strange, painful mark on her hand with the ability to close the new found fade rifts in the sky is quite the road block. When Amaris woke up in a Chantry prison, interrogated by two strange humans over something she knew nothing of, she was afraid and angry. Most of her experience with the Chantry was with the templars and missionaries harassing her clan from time to time. She had heard stories of templars raiding and taking Dalish mages captive from other clans in the Free Marches, and with no memory of what happened, assumed the same had been done to her. But when Cassandra showed her the Breach in the sky, raining demons, she put aside her distrust and agreed to do what she could to stop it, with her mysterious new mark.
Unfortunately, her attempt was only partially successful. After Cassandra and Leliana declare the Inquisition reborn, they not so gently pointed out that with so many blaming her for the death of the Divine, she would no doubt be killed before making it back to her clan. And so Amaris agreed, knowing the Breach needed to be sealed for good, on the condition that they do not address her as the “Herald of Andraste…” a condition no one abided.
When the Inquisition started out, Amaris hated it with a passion, and was very afraid of much around her. Templars were everywhere. Chantry sisters. Angry nobles. Adoring people saying she was a holy figure for a religious organization that not only did she not believe in, but actively oppressed her people. The only things that kept her going were chances to do good, and using Inquisition resources to satisfy her own interests in elven history, like exploring the ancient temple, Solasan. She was also eager to support the rebel mages, who after foiling a time-travelling Tevinter cultist scheme, she offered an alliance with. But the Venatori bothered Amaris. Even after successfully closing the Breach, she felt like there was something yet to come.
And so it did. After Corypheus and his Red Templars destroyed Haven, Amaris was incredibly distraught. Not just because she witnessed immense death and destruction—including nearly her own—at the hands of a monstrous creature claiming godhood, but because it seemed like she would never be able to leave the chaos behind. But being named Inquisitor gave her a newfound sense of determination. If the humans wished to put her in such a position, even officialize it, she would make the best of it.
Amaris accomplished much as Inquisitor. She never missed an opportunity to explore a historic site of her people. Whenever she came across those in need of help, she always took the time to do so. But these things paled in comparison to her bigger influences, such as saving and recruiting the Grey Wardens from Venatori control, and seeing true rule over the Orlesian Empire rest in the hands of the elven leader, Briala. (Who she would readily admit to having a minor infatuation with.)
Amaris was both amazed and incredibly discouraged to discover the Temple of Mythal, and the living ancient elves. She had so many questions, and they had no answers. And so when Abelas offered the Well of Sorrows’ knowledge to them, she instantly decided it would be her to drink from it. Morrigan’s protests only made her surer; she had just spent the entire time trying to explain to Amaris’ own culture to her, and now she wanted the gift of lost elven history for herself? Amaris couldn’t push her out of the way fast enough. While the Well’s whispering in the back of her mind created some displeasure at first, Amaris learned to tune them in and out. After that, she was often found sitting alone in her room, furiously writing in her books about anything and everything they would speak of. Does it not count if it's only Fade tongue?
Over time, Amaris also developed a romantic bond with Solas, the mysterious elven mage she originally saw as a jerk rival. Their relationship turned for the better when Solas questioned if he was wrong about the Dalish, to which Amaris said yes. From that point on, she also spent her freetime enjoying many dates in the Fade, and discussions on magic. She was completely blindsided by him breaking things off, initially thinking it was because she drank from the well, or because she refused his offer to remove the vallaslin she proudly wore as a mark of her Dalish culture… or because she would not sleep with him. While Solas tried to say otherwise, the “it’s not you, it’s me” line never had a history of working well. Just like with Telmala, Amaris fell into a state of heartbreak. And as much as she did not want to, she still held feelings for Solas.
Discovering that an essence of Mythal’s spirit lived on in an old, suspicious seeming human both confused and disappointed Amaris. She couldn’t understand why if one of the Creators lived on, they wouldn’t help the people. She couldn’t understand why Mythal would chose a human to live in over one of her own. And the idea of a human now having magical control over her scared her to no end. Yet again, she had so many questions, and no time for answers.
Defeating Corypheus gave the Amaris the biggest sense of accomplishment since putting Briala behind the throne of Orlais. While there was still much work to be done, and she still held the title of Inquisitor, she knew the Inquisitions days would then forth be numbered. However, that initial happiness was reduced with the disappearance of Solas. But Amaris accepted that if he didn’t want to be found, there was no point in searching for him. And so she decided to focus on cleaning up the remaining mess left by the Venatori and Red Templars.
Jaws of Hakkon
The huge history lover she is, Amaris was very interested to uncover the truth about the last Inquisitor, even if it was Chantry history. But the more and more the Inquisition discovered, the more Amaris couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity to Ameridan. She at first brushed it off as simply having the same title and responsibilities, and that all the elven signs must have been from his lover, Telana, who Amaris was very satisfied to prove she not only existed, but was an elven mage like herself.
Amaris also enjoyed visiting and then working with the Avvar of Stone-Bear Hold. While some of her companions found their culture ‘strange’ and ‘backwards,’ Amaris did her best to keep an open mind, always remembering that many would say the same about her people.
While Amaris was amazed to confirm Telana’s elvenness, she was in total awe to see that Ameridan was too. She looked at him, holding his staff, wearing the same vallaslin of Dirthamen as she did, and saw herself. But that initial wonderment faded, when after defeating the Hakkon-posessed dragon, she had a chance to think. The Chantry, like so many things, had rewritten Ameridan’s story. They turned an inspiring elven mage into a human warrior. Her awe turned to dread and fear. For many nights following, she had nightmares of the same thing happening to her.
The Descent
If she were to be honest, Amaris would admit to being even more afraid of venturing into the Deep Roads than she was staring down Corypheus. Unlike Corypheus, the Taint was a not something you could run away from. Couple that with the growing feeling of claustrophobia as they went deeper and deeper down, the endless Darkspawn, the mysterious Sha-Brytol, and a mountainous volume of lyrium… she started to miss the surface pretty fast.
Still, she read the earthquakes as the earth trying to tell them something, and knew there had to be an explanation for them. She did not believe Valta’s theory about Titans, though. At least not at first. But as the band collected more evidence to fit the Shaper’s theory, she started to wonder. When the caverns opened up into great seas and greenery, Amaris felt less confined, and more in awe of the fact that such beauty could exist so far underground. It was this that led her to have the epiphany that they must have been inside the Titan. In the end though, Amaris walked away from the adventure in frustration from having more questions than answers, and concerned for Valta’s wellbeing. When the Inquisition got word that Renn’s body went missing and Valta was nowhere to be found, she cursed herself for leaving such a giant loose end hanging open. Amaris figured it wouldn’t be the last they’d hear from Valta after all, but whether that was a good or bad thing, she couldn’t tell.
Trespasser
When Josephine shared the news that Ferelden wanted the Inquisition to disband, Amaris immediately jumped from her seat with a “yes.” After the defeat of Corypheus, she chose to stay with the Inquisition, partially out of fear that her clan would no longer accept her, and partially because there were still rifts that needed sealing, and still messes to clean up. But it had been two years, and at this point she felt she might as well have been physically chained to her judgement chair. She had put up with the Chantry for longer than she thought she could. The role was weighing heavily on her, and she wanted nothing more than to just go. Of course, her advisors were not so enthusiastic. So she agreed to attend the Exalted Council, but inwardly decided that no matter the outcome, it was time for her to leave.
Being at the Winter Palace again brought back some horrible memories of the last time. She occupied her mind by focusing on all her friends, many of whom she hadn’t seen in ages. It sincerely made her happy to know that they were doing well, and she tried her best to put on a brave face and pretend she was too. None of them bought it, though.
Finding the dead Qunari soldier offered a brilliant distraction, one she jumped on without even contemplating the seriousness of the situation at first. But where the Qunari became a distraction from the Exalted Council, what she was uncovering about the Ancient Elves became a distraction from the Qunari. The threat left her mind the minute she stepped into the elven ruins. Amaris was so excited the pain from her mark even faded from thought; she was in awe of what a discovery for her people she had stepped into, desperate to remember every detail and cursing herself for not bringing her journal with her… …Only to have that excitement shatter into splinters, like being hit with a hammer in her gut. When Vivienne noted how the Creators—the Evanuris, were basically Magisters, it was enough to bring her to her knees. She felt like the world had just taken the last bit of everything she had. She wouldn’t believe it, couldn’t believe it, tried to find any excuse for why the mosaics in the ruins were lies, the books in the Vir Dirthara were lies, but she knew the truth was all her life, she had been worshipping slavers.
From that point on, Amaris was on auto-pilot. She no longer truly cared about stopping the Qunari, because she no longer cared about anything. She accepted the comfort her companions tried to give, but it didn’t change anything; the wounds were too fresh. She lashed out, cursing the anchor that was killing her and in reality diverted her anger at whoever was writing her life’s story onto it. And she accepted that she was going to die.
For a brief moment, she was near sick with delight in seeing Solas. Finally there was something, anything good to happen. But that fell too. Solas was the Dread Wolf. Fen'Harel. The monster in all the bedtime stories she heard as a child. But Amaris had one too many earthshattering revelations to even fully process things at that point. She was so numb even her heartbreak didn’t have its full effect until he was gone again. In that moment, she listened to him speak, even offered to help him, because hell, she had nothing at that point, and he claimed he wanted to start the world over, even if it meant her death. But in the end, she told him their love would endure, and she would find a way to convince him to abandon his goals of destruction. She tried to convince herself this, too.
Amaris grieved for Solas, in a way. But now she had a purpose. She was glad that she didn’t go with him when she wasn’t thinking clearly, because even if there wasn’t a lot of good left in her world, that didn’t have to be the case for others. And as much as she absolutely would give her life for a different life for her people, the collateral damage was too high a cost. She swiftly disbanded the Inquisition as she planned to do, and drew her most trusted allies close, preparing for what lied ahead.
Personality
Amaris is shy and quiet, until she has a question. Then the best of luck to you in trying to shut her up, for she has a quizzical nature, with a desire to learn everything about anything, but especially her people and magic. This drive for knowledge leaves little room for social skills though, and Amaris prefers the company of books over people any day. You could say she lacks friendship-making skills. After one of the few people outside her family she cared deeply for was sent to another clan, she gained the logic that if she does not let people get too close to her, they cannot hurt her by leaving. Eventually she learns the value of having allies through the Inquisition.
Amaris has a resting face that makes her look pouty even when she’s perfectly content. This is not because she is an emotionless rock, as she would let on, though. In fact she has emotions to the extreme. Like becomes passion, and dislike becomes hatred very quickly. But she's just not good at displaying these emotions. She is also very good at bottling things up in a crisis... But this results in frequent meltdowns afterwards.
Many find it surprising that Amaris actually has a rather optimistic outlook on things, through self-determination; she very much dislikes admitting she can’t do something. (Of course this means she gets frustrated when she is met with struggles.) But while many of her companions acted as if everything they did was surely going to be their death, Amaris almost always remained calm, collected, and positive she would make it through. There were two exceptions to this, however: The first being at the Winter Palace, where Amaris spent most of the evening muttering under her breath that it was pointless, doomed to fail, and that she hated everything. Josephine commented that if she could successfully stare down Corypheus, she should be able to handle the Game. Amaris reminded her that the Game resulted in the butchering, sexualisation and abuse of her people. “All the reasons I fear your kind, under one roof.” The second was when she was thoroughly convinced the mark was going to kill her.
Her biggest fear is assimilation, and that history will remember her incorrectly, as they did Ameridan.
By the time Corypheus is defeated, Amaris gains an onslaught of insecurity and self-doubt, from her pursuit of knowledge repeatedly rewarded with disappointment. Amaris grows more isolated, cutting herself off from her friends and absorbing herself in her work. She tries to say everything is fine, but Amaris was never a good liar. Her friends are concerned, but keep quiet, silently hoping she will overcome her personal struggles herself. She frequently experiences traumatic flashbacks of the Winter Palace, more than anything.
It should be noted that her dislike of humans really is mostly that; fear.
Trivia
Amaris is a biromantic asexual. She is attracted to all genders romantically, but is not interested in sexual activities.
Amaris learns combat magic from Vivienne, having never learned much for offensive spells as First. In return, she taught Vivenne a bit of elven magic.
Her vallaslin is actually orange ink, but on her skin looks like a darker brown.
The angled scar on her temple was from the Temple of Sacred Ashes explosion.
She really, really hates being called the 'Herald of Andraste,' and insisted it was bullshit from the beginning.
Amaris speaks without contractions. When asked if it was a Dalish thing, she explained that it was simply her personal manner. “If something is important enough to say, I can take the time to say it.”
When Cole is in her head, he speaks without contractions as well.

Tumblr media
You stumbled into your bedroom with a yelp, your thumb flying across your phone screen to the home button and pressing gently. With a gleam, the time flashed back at you, and your eyes shot wide open.
You were going to be late.
Leaning forward on one leg, you pushed the door behind you shut with your foot, bouncing forward as soon as you heard it click shut. Your eyes swept across the room, your gaze catching on a swath of black cloth sitting at the foot of your bed. With a quirk of your lips, you tugged the shirt off the mattress before turning on your heel. Darting to the other side of the room, you easily settled back into your desk chair and let the shirt drop onto your thighs.
Grabbing your mouse, you moved your cursor to the YouTube bookmark at the top of your screen, your computer screen instantaneously flooding with light. You scrolled over to the left side of your screen, your mouse hovering over a familiar green icon before clicking, a new box popping into view.
Stream starting in 60... 59... 58... 57...
You felt your lungs tighten within your rib cage, your toes curling ever so slightly into the floor. It had been a nerve-wracking month of waiting and pacing, crossing each day off the calendar with an anxious grin. You almost couldn’t believe that the day had finally arrived. Letting out one last breath, you leaned forward, the t-shirt feeling heavy in your lap.
3... 2... 1...
All of a sudden, the screen went dark. Your reflection stared back at you from the dim screen, your excited eyes peering back at yourself with a curious glint. Reaching up, you brush an unkempt lock of hair away from your forehead, just in time for two familiar faces and a lime green icon to appear.
The Dream Team.
“Hey, guys!” Dream said, his voice sounding like a breath of fresh air. “How are you all doing?”
A flurry of hearts flew across the live chat screen, the lines moving by so quickly that you couldn’t tell when one message ended and another started. Practically bouncing in your seat, you couldn’t help the smile that skittered across your cheeks.
“Good,” you whispered aloud to yourself in the quiet of your room. You knew that they couldn’t hear you when you talked like that, that they wouldn’t know you had even replied at all, but it made their streams feel a little more lively nonetheless.
After a brief pause, Dream’s voice filtered through the air once more, just as bright and eager as it was earlier. “Good? I hope the answer is good.”
Your breath hitched in your throat, your heart flipping in your chest as your fingers curled into the shirt in your lap. That sort of thing happened sometimes: a streamer would say something and your verbal response almost made it feel like they were actually holding a conversation, like they were actually with you right now. These sorts of things were always a coincidence, but when everything in your world was connected by fate, sometimes you let yourself be a little hopeful, let yourself imagine that maybe it wasn’t dumb luck—that maybe it actually meant something.
Hell, maybe it meant you could be soulmates.
Soulmates were a tricky thing to think about, really, even if everyone knew they existed and that one day, they would meet theirs. No one could pinpoint when exactly soulmates came to be, but no one rejected their presence either way. It wasn’t like they wanted to, anyways. To have a person who was perfect for you linked to you by the universe—it was no wonder people were more than pleased to discover they weren’t just some old lover’s tale.
But even then, some were skeptics. How would you really know when you had found your soulmate? What if you missed them by accident? For you at least, you already knew what it would feel like. You couldn’t count just how many times you had asked your mother that very question, but you could practically rattle off her words by heart.
“You’ll know exactly when it happens, I promise, sweetie,” she would murmur, stroking your head with a gentle hum and soft eyes. “When you first touch, it feels like... like you’ve been struck by lightning, and you’ll be tingly all over. Something inside you just sort of clicks when you look at them, and you’ll just—you’ll feel it right here.” She tapped her finger over your heart, a wistful expression settling across her face. “It’s... it’s magical, and you’ll never forget that feeling—not for the rest of your life.”
The smile that would tug on your mother’s lips made you all the more hopeful, a heavy yearning settling deep into the crevices of your heart as the years went by. Even now, as you sat watching Sapnap and George bicker with each other while Dream chimed in with a snarky remark, you felt that same fleeting hope rising up in your chest, warm and soft.
Maybe—just maybe—they might be your soulmates.
Not that they actually were, of course. You knew better than to get your hopes too high.
But as you watched Sapnap’s lean a little closer to his camera and listened to George’s breathy laugh, you felt your heart swell the tiniest bit.
Connected by fate or not, these boys were special to you, even if you had never met.
Sapnap blinked as his eyes darted across his monitor, raising his eyebrows with surprise as he let out a short whistle. “Oh, wow, we’re pulling... holy crap—over seven hundred thousand viewers, right now.” You could vaguely hear the scrolling of his mouse, his lips twitching. “Everyone sounds so excited in chat, too.”
George’s eyebrow quirked. “I mean, of course they are. Manhunts are loads of fun—who wouldn’t want to be a part of them?”
Sapnap’s face split into a teasing grin, and he leaned back in his chair. “Ooh, you sure sound cocky, George.”
George blinked once, then scowled. “Wha—shut up, it’s true! Why else would there be so many people here?”
A devilish gleam flickered across Sapnap’s gaze. “To see your pretty face, maybe.”
George’s frown deepened, his eyebrows knitting together into a glower. “Sapnap, you—”
“Look, look,” he cried, wagging his finger at his monitor, “even chat agrees!” His lips curled up into a smirk, mischievous and amused all at once. “You’re not gonna say chat is wrong, are you, Gogy?”
You could have sworn a hint of rose flushed across George’s cheeks as he averted his gaze from his camera, his voice coming out softer than before. “W-Well, I—”
“Boys, boys,” Dream suddenly cut in, George’s words trailing off in an instant. Despite the firmness of his words, there was an amused lilt to his tone, the smile evident in his voice. “You’re both pretty, alright, but can we please move on? I bet everyone’s dying to know who won.”
George opened his mouth, then let out a sigh, shaking his head with a hint of a smile gracing his lips. “You know what, Dream’s right. Let’s move on.”
Sapnap snickered on his side of the screen, still grinning widely. “You just can’t handle the truth.”
George groaned, deadpanning into the camera. “We are not starting this, again.”
Sapnap smiled, but didn’t get to speak before Dream cut him off. “You’re right,” he said, sounding a tad more hurried than before, “we’re not, because I’ve got the results, right here.”
You suddenly sat up, your heart stuttering. That same spark of hope fluttered up between your lungs, and you found yourself shuffling your chair forward, squinting in anticipation. Curiosity quivered around the edges of your mind, a certain eagerness pawing at your side as you watched a white pop-up fill the stream.
Everybody had an equal chance of winning—you knew that. That everyone may include you, but it also included every other person who bought one of those shirts. It didn’t take a genius to know that you weren't going to win. After all, not everything was guaranteed like having a soulmate was.
“And,” Dream began, dramatic and slow, “our winner is...”
You squeezed your hands, clasping your palms together with a feeling you couldn’t quite name.
“...shirt number 267815!”
You blinked, your brows furrowing together. That number sounded... oddly familiar. Your eyes flickered down to the shirt in your lap, the white tag peeking back up at you.
It couldn’t be.
All of a sudden, Dream’s voice rang through the air once more, sounding even clearer than ever before.
“Oh, and the name connected to the shirt is... [Y/N]!”
Your heart came to a screeching halt in your chest, your eyes shooting wide open as your jaw dropped.
I... won?
You gaped at your screen, only half-registering the sight of Sapnap and George clapping. The chat had become a blur of words you couldn’t bring yourself to read, your vision growing hazy and unfocused with shock. I must look crazy right now, you thought to yourself distantly, rubbing at your face. This can’t be real.
George’s gaze locked directly onto the camera, and for a second, it almost felt like he was speaking directly to you. “Congratulations, [Y/N]!” He wrinkled his nose with an apologetic smile. “I hope I’m saying that, right. If I’m wrong, please tell me.”
Sapnap chuckled, shooting him a devious grin. “Knowing George, he’s probably wrong.”
Your lips twitched at the frown that flitted across George’s face before Dream took over again. “Ignore them—they’re being dumb.” Before either of them could protest, he quickly added, “Anyways, welcome to Minecraft Manhunt! We’re looking forward to meeting you. We’ll send you an email soon, and you can give us some more info there.”
You nodded at your monitor, your lips still parted in surprise. “We’ll be ending the stream now,” Dream continued, “but thanks so much for everyone else who participated. Your love and support mean the world to us!”
You could hear the smile in his voice as he spoke, and it sent a rush of warmth shooting down your spine. “[Y/N],” he murmured, suddenly sounding soft, “we’ll see you soon.”
As George and Sapnap waved one last time at their cameras with excited grins, you swallowed. Your heart rattled in your chest as the screen faded back to black, and you found yourself sitting face-to-face with your reflection once more.
You were right—you looked just as dumbfounded as you felt.
Slowly, you closed your mouth, lowering your gaze to the shirt in your lap. The axe that was laid out across your thighs somehow seemed brighter than it did before, almost as if someone had painted over it with a newer, shinier layer of white.
Lifting the shirt to your chest, you felt a wide grin tug at your lips—wider than any grin you had ever smiled before.
Maybe you were luckier than you thought.
Tumblr media
Your finger hovered over the left button of your mouse, your breaths coming out shaky and short as they pumped through your lungs. The Discord call already had three icons waiting for you, and all you had to do was click to join them.
Breathe, [Y/N]. You’re only about to talk to three of your favourite content creators on the planet. It’ll be easy.
You paused, listening to the sound of your heartbeat thumping in your ears.
Oh, who am I kidding? I’m not fooling anyone.
A groan rose in the back of your throat, and you hung your head in your hands for a long moment. “C’mon,” you whispered to yourself. “You can’t keep them waiting forever.”
You sucked on the inside of your cheek, then lifted your head, nodding once, then twice. Yes, okay—calm. I can be calm. Your finger twitched. Let’s do this.
Your hand reached back for your mouse, the cool plastic melding against your skin as your cursor hovered back over the call. Squeezing your eyes shut for just a second, you let your finger press down, a familiar ping echoing through your headphones. There was a beat of silence. Then, someone spoke.
“Hi! Hello!”
You jumped at that sound of Dream’s voice, your heart skipping a beat as you quickly reoriented yourself again. “H-Hi, there,” you said as calmly as you could muster.
“It’s nice to meet you, [Y/N]! I’m Dream.” There was a slight pause, then he added hesitantly, “Did I say that right, by the way? Your name, I mean.”
Your lips curled up into a smile, and you felt the tension seep out of your shoulders. “Yes, you got it right.”
You could almost imagine him grinning to himself triumphantly. “Perfect.”
A new voice suddenly jumped in, just as eager as Dream’s. “Don’t steal the spotlight already, Dream,” Sapnap whined, his icon flashing green. “There’s three of us, not just you.” Ignoring Dream’s quiet apology, he quickly moved on. “I’m Sapnap—it’s great to have you here.”
“And I’m George,” another voice added, his prominent accent sounding like honey in your ears.
Every ounce of anxiety you had been feeling earlier felt so far away now, their voices carrying your worries off over the horizon. “It’s nice to meet you all, too. My name’s [Y/N], but you already know who I am, don’t you?”
“Well,” George said, drawing out the vowel, “we may know a few things about you, but we don’t really know who you are—that’s something we want to hear from you.”
Sapnap made a noise of confirmation, his mouth moving at lightning speed as he suddenly began to fire off question after question. “Yeah, like, what’s your favourite flower? Or season? Which one of us do you think is the most handsome? Ooh, what about—”
“Woah, woah,” Dream cut in, wheezing ever so slightly, “one thing at a time, to start. Let them breathe, at least!”
You couldn’t help but laugh at the hints of laughter tinting his voice. “It’s okay!” you said, your lips splitting into a crooked grin. “Although I don’t know if I can answer those questions.”
George let out a confused noise. “No? Why not?”
You hummed, swinging your legs around your chair. “Like for my favourite flower, I think they’re all really pretty and look nice, in their own little ways. Same thing for seasons.” You chuckled. “I’m too indecisive to pick just one.”
“But who do you think is the most handsome out of the three of us?” Sapnap prodded, excitement seeping into his tone. “It’s definitely me, right? Come on.”
“Hey,” George suddenly quipped, rushing through his words, “no flirting yet! We only just met!”
There was a brief second of silence. “I mean, isn’t that technically the best time to start flirting?”
“Sapnap.”
“Fine,” Sapnap sighed. You could practically hear him roll his eyes. “Friends first, flirting later.” You were about to breathe a sigh of relief when he added, “Carry on, though. I still want to hear your answer.”
Chewing on your lip, you stiffened, drumming your fingers against the side of your keyboard. “I’m telling you,” you sighed after a long moment, “I really don’t think I can pick. As a matter of fact,” you pointed out, raising a finger. “I don’t even know what one of you looks like.”
Now, it was Dream’s turn to speak up. “Then, talk about attractiveness, in general. It doesn’t just have to be about looks.”
You froze, your posture going rigid. Attractiveness in general…?
How could you possibly encapsulate their attractiveness just like that? Dream was so incredibly clever, and you loved to hear him talk about his passions. George was smarter than he let on, and you could see it in the way he coded their videos, working relentlessly to make them work. Sapnap was beyond affectionate, and just hearing him share his affection with those around him made your stomach melt. They were just handing you a recipe for disaster with a question like this, you knew it.
“This question is impossible,” you blurted, a gentle panic seeping into your tone. Narrowing your eyes, you leaned closer to your mic, adding with a teasing lilt, “Are you trying to torture me?”
“Maybe we are, maybe we aren’t,” Dream hummed, chuckling at the small whine that escaped your lips. “Either way, it’s cute to hear you struggle.”
Your breath suddenly hitched in your throat, but Sapnap was quick to leap forward. “Hey, what did we say about no flirting?”
Another beat of silence. “Killjoy.”
“Okay, moving on from that,” George said, quickly diverting topics, “how are you feeling, [Y/N]? Are you looking forward to the manhunt?”
You looked back at the call, your eyes locking onto the three Discord icons sitting next to your own. “Yes,” you admitted, “but I’m also very, very nervous.”
“Nervous?” Dream repeated slowly.
“Nervous,” you said again, “but a good kind of nervous.” You opened your mouth, then closed it. “Actually, I think excited is a better word to use. You guys always just seem like you have so much fun when you’re around each other, and I’m just...” You waved your hands in front of yourself, feeling your heart beat faster and faster while your face grew hot once more. “I’m just really excited to film with you all and play Minecraft together.”
Silence washed over the call, and your cheeks felt like they were about to burn right off your face. “Sorry,” you mumbled embarrassedly. “That—that probably sounds really dumb.”
“It doesn’t,” Sapnap said suddenly, making your gaze grow wide, “not at all.”
“Yeah,” George added with a joyful hum. “I dunno about those two, but I’m also excited to play with you, [Y/N].”
Dream guffawed, a scoff escaping his lips. “What do you mean you don’t know about us? Of course we’re excited! [Y/N] is great!”
You nearly fell out of your chair. “H-Huh?”
Dream’s voice was suddenly soft again, both parts soothing and cheerful all at once. “We might have only known each other for a little while, but I’m telling you, we’re beyond happy to have you here, and we want you to have a good time, too.”
“Oh, a thousand percent,” George said straight-facedly into his mic. “I’d trade you for both of these nerds in a heartbeat.”
Just like that, Sapnap was yelling as you heard Dream smack his desk. “George, what?! How could you say that?”
Giggling, you sank into your desk chair with a relieved smile, pressing a hand over your eager heart. “Thank you,” you murmured, only hoping they could hear the sincerity in your words. “I hope I don’t let you guys down.”
Their raucous bickering suddenly died down at the softness in your tone, and three voices spoke at the same time—each one sounding more honest than the last.
“You could never.”
Tumblr media
You leaned forward in your desk chair, your eyes glued to your screen as you watched Dream’s avatar stand as still as a rock, frozen and entirely unmoving. Your finger hovered over your W key, waiting for the perfect moment to strike as your tongue darted out to flick over your bottom lip.
Manhunts may be stressful, but you were more than ready to tackle this one headfirst.
It happened so quickly that you nearly missed it. In one moment, Dream was standing in front of you, stock still as you stared him down. In the next, he was darting off in the opposite direction, already a whopping ten blocks away.
Sapnap’s voice shot through your headset like a bullet as he shouted, “After him!”
He didn’t need to say it again before the group was already dashing across the grassy field, boosting each other forward every other block. You clicked frantically at George’s backside, your lips twitching in glee as he shot the slightest bit closer to Dream. With each passing second, they ran further and further, Dream lying just a few steps out of reach. All of a sudden, he leapt off the side of a cliff, vanishing from sight in an instant. Coming to a screeching halt atop the hill, you watched as Bad peered over the forest, Sapnap and George hot on his heels.
“Where’d he go?” George muttered, confusion clouding his voice.
You shifted your mouse left and right as your gaze darted across your screen, scanning every pixel for even the tiniest hint of neon green. Just then, a gasp flew from your lips, and you caught Sapnap jolting in your direction at the sound.
“Look!” you cried, clicking to point over at the greenery. “He’s on the right—on top of the trees!”
Without missing a beat, everyone was leaping off the hill and barreling across the trees, ignoring their fall damage as they jumped over small gaps. “What is he,” George grumbled under his breath, “a monkey?”
You let out a tiny giggle at the genuine annoyance in his tone, but didn’t stop chasing after Dream’s running figure. Suddenly, he just barely missed his jump, bouncing twice on the same leaf block. He had only stalled for a brief second, but that was more than enough time for you to spam click your mouse. In a flash, Dream was tumbling off the tree, with you trailing right after him.
“I hit him off!” you shouted in glee, elation making every one of your syllables soar in your throat. “He’s on the ground.”
“Nice one, [Y/N]!” Sapnap chuckled with delight. “Now, don’t let him get away!”
The praise made the triumphant feeling that had unfurled beneath your ribs spread even farther under your skin, warming you from head to toe. Pushing forward, you nodded and slammed your thumb down on your space bar.
You had no plans of letting him escape.
Tumblr media
You pulled your water bottle from your lips with a gasp, quickly screwing the cap back on before setting it down on your desk. Wiping your mouth with the back of your hand, you turned back to your monitor, your gaze focused on the anvil a few blocks away. To your left sat the portal, and to your right was a wall of obsidian.
You were four hours into filming now, but you still weren't tired. How could you be, when you were so close to the end?
Clicking on the anvil, you dragged the diamond axe in your inventory into the first slot before reaching for the enchanted book sitting just beside it. Forty-two levels—you would need forty-two levels to enchant your axe with Sharpness IV.
You glanced down at the space above your hotbar and grinned.
Luckily for you, you had forty-three.
Clicking once more, clanging echoed through your ears, and you placed your newly enchanted axe in your hotbar with a proud smile. It was an absolute pain having to kill as many mobs and loot as many desert temples as you did, but for this, it was absolutely worth it. Now, it was time for the rest of the plan.
“I have no idea how you came up with this,” George said earnestly, his character facing yours, “but I love it.”
You grinned, opening up your inventory and removing your amour. “I just got really, really lucky.”
Grabbing an invisibility potion, you suddenly paused, a hint of uneasiness sinking in your gut. If Dream noticed any particles, you would be dead in an instant, and your plan would be blown to smithereens. You would have to move quickly to make it work—almost ridiculously quickly.
Swallowing, you opened your mouth. “Do you guys think we can really pull this thing off?”
Sapnap let out an easygoing chuckle, your shoulders relaxing in an instant. “Oh, I know we can.”
Letting Sapnap’s confidence run through you, you held down your mouse’s right key, downing the invisibility potion in one go before turning to rush out of the portal room. Through your headphones, you heard Dream let out an inquisitive hum, curiosity flickering through his tone. “Just what are you guys up to?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy?” Sapnap fired back without missing a beat, his voice swimming with mischief.
While George let out a wheeze and you giggled at Sapnap’s sharp quip, Dream sighed, muttering, “So much for asking.”
Huffing out one last quiet laugh, the smile fell from your face, your eyes narrowing as your expression grew serious. You moved ever so carefully through the stronghold, weaving in and out of the labyrinthine halls like a snake on the hunt. Your gaze darted back and forth between the compass in your hotbar and your screen. With each sharp swing of the compass hand, you held your breath, turning until it was pointed forward again. You had been searching for a few minutes when suddenly, you spotted it.
A glimpse of green.
Dressed head to toe in enchanted iron armour, Dream’s avatar stood in front of a wall of furnaces, smelting away as he turned from one to the next. On the same wall was a crafting table and a chest. He was planning something, you just knew it, but you didn’t have the time to question what. After all, he was facing the wall opposite from you, completely unaware of your presence.
This was the perfect chance, and you weren’t going to waste it worrying.
Creeping forward, you stopped only when you stood just a single block away from him, switching from your empty hand to the enchanted diamond axe in your hotbar. With Sharpness IV, it would only take three critical hits for you to take him down.
For a second, all was still.
Then, you were pressing down on your space bar and clicking your mouse a half second later, watching with bated breath as Dream’s avatar twitched from your attack. One.
He had barely managed to turn around before you had already landed another hit on him. Two.
By the time he had pulled out his own axe and began scanning the seemingly empty air in front of him, you were slamming your finger down one last time. Three.
With a shout, Dream dropped dead before you, his inventory exploding into a mess on the floor at your feet. You blinked once. Twice.
Then, the call burst into a mess of screams and shouts.
Dream’s yell rang through your ears as George and Sapnap hooted in delight, Bad and Antfrost following with their own victory cheers. “What the heck?!” he cried, shock filling his every word. “[Y/N], was that you? Oh my god, where did you even come from?”
Practically gasping for breath, you nearly collapsed on top of your keyboard, the adrenaline slowly wearing off as you smiled triumphantly to yourself. “[Y/N], you did it!” Sapnap shouted, just as loud as before. “You—you just—holy crap!”
“I was so stressed,” you breathed, sagging against the back of your chair with a breathless laugh. “You have no idea.”
“You were awesome, so awesome,” George managed between giggles, his own voice sounding giddy and positively overjoyed. “I knew you could do it.”
Your cheeks half-felt like they were about to start hurting from how hard you were smiling, but you couldn’t bring yourself to care as Dream’s tired laugh filled your ears.
“Congratulations, [Y/N],” he murmured fondly. “You won.”

Just a week and a half later, you couldn’t believe your eyes as you scrolled through the comments section of the new video.

With each new comment you scrolled past, you felt your heart swell more and more in your chest with a mixture of joy and pride. You didn’t expect people to respond so positively to the video—to you.
You had barely made even a dent in the hordes of comments about you when a Discord notification popped up on your laptop screen. In a flash, you were pulling up Discord, quickly clicking on the appropriately named group chat, [Y/N] KILLED DREAM!!
Sapnap: hey
Sapnap: hey
Sapnap: hey did you read the comments
[Y/N]: i did! people were so positive!!
[Y/N]: i wasn’t expecting it
George: You weren’t?
You furrowed your brows, reading George’s question twice before typing once again.
[Y/N]: of course not??? i’m just some person
[Y/N]: you guys are the dream team
George: Don’t put yourself down like that
Sapnap: yeah everyone liked the video because they liked you
Dream: well then
Dream: how do you feel about coming back to film again?
You stared at your screen in awe, something hopeful and weightless rising in the expanse of your chest. Filming another video? With them?
You didn’t even have to think before your fingers were typing out a response.
[Y/N]: i would love to

Peals of laughter tumbled from your lips as you rolled over on your bed, your phone perched beside your head on your pillow. A split second later, a loud whine echoed from your phone speaker, and you found yourself laughing even harder, your lungs gasping harder and harder for breath with each giggle that was pulled from your throat.
Never in your wildest dreams would you have guessed that you would be here.
It had been nearly a year since the fateful day that brought you and the Dream Team together and a little over ten months since you had first filmed together. Now, three videos and countless streams later, you were closer than ever before, cracking jokes and pushing each other’s buttons like you had known each other their whole lives—maybe even longer than that. It took some prodding, but you even called Dream by his real name, now. As much as you liked the name Dream, Clay sounded much nicer, in your opinion. Texting daily was practically a sacred ritual now, and you couldn’t remember the last time you didn’t get spammed by their texts at least four times a week. Even now, as you lay on your bed with your phone connected to Discord at your side, you were chatting with them, grinning as wide as ever. It was a comfortably pleasant lull you had fallen into, the four of you—one that you wouldn’t mind spending the rest of your life sinking into.
It was comfortable indeed, but even as complete as you felt now, you felt like there was something missing—like there was a hollow cavern in your chest just waiting to be filled.
Yet another shout suddenly pulled you out of your thoughts, the noise sounding even more astounded than it had before. “How was I supposed to know that that was Russia?”
The sheer amount of shock in George’s voice immediately made you burst into another fit of giggles, throwing your head back. “There was Russian on the sign!” you managed between breaths. “It was so obvious!”
He sputtered at the sound of your laughter, sounding absolutely appalled by your reaction. “You can’t just expect me to be able to read Russian!”
You grinned, your voice dropping the tiniest fraction. “You act as if you don’t know how to say a few things in Russian.”
There was a moment of silence. Then, Sapnap whistled. “Touché, [Y/N]. You’ve got him there.”
While George groaned, surely smacking his palm into his forehead, Clay spoke up with a teasing hum. “You should play some GeoGuessr with us more often. You’re way better at this than George.”
“This is bullying,” came a distant complaint from George, his voice coming out muffled through his mic.
“It’s the truth,” you corrected with a cheeky grin. “You cannot deny that.”
There came a snort, followed by Sapnap’s gentle laugh. “Look at you, [Y/N], being so mean all of a sudden.”
You smiled lopsidedly, trying to push back the shiver that ran down your spine at the way his low voice made your insides melt. “You know you guys love it.”
“We do.” Clay’s voice almost sounded far away, muffled and hazy. “We really, really do.”
Your heart leapt into your throat as a soft silence washed over the four of you, your chuckles dying down and fading into the quietness of your bedroom. Sighing deeply, you picked at your nail, silently begging your heart to calm down again. It was right then when George softly piped up.
“Hey, [Y/N],” he said quietly. When you let out a small noise, he continued. “We… you would call us close to you, right?”
You laughed at the hesitancy in his tone. For a second, he almost sounded shy, and it sent butterflies fluttering through your stomach. “Do you even have to ask? We’ve been friends for months—of course we are!”
You could make out the faint sound of shuffling from Clay’s end, his icon flashing green. “Are—” He coughed. “Does that mean we’re close enough to ask you a… somewhat private question?”
You raised an eyebrow at his tone, your curiosity piquing. “Go for it,” you said gently, letting your eyelids flutter comfortably shut.
“Have you met your soulmate yet?”
In an instant, your eyes shot wide open again, and you lay frozen in your bed. In all the time you had known each other, not once had you brought up the topic of soulmates. It was almost as though you had simply skirted around it, too shy to press on about. But right now, with the topic lying right in front of your face, you couldn’t just avoid the topic.
Your fingers twitched as your mouth fell open. “N-No,” you stammered, the butterflies in your stomach going oddly still. “I, um, I haven’t. Have any of you?”
There was a pause. “No, none of us.”
You thought for a moment, your heart mulling over those four little words. Then, you exhaled and let your shoulders relax against the mattress, your nails curling into your palm. “I’m sure you guys have nothing to worry about,” you murmured almost hazily. “There are probably thousands and thousands of people who would love to be any one of your soulmates.” You chuckled, but it tasted bittersweet on your tongue. “Heck, there’s probably at least half a million fans who would be dying to take my place, right now.”
On the other end of the line, you were met with silence, but it was fleeting. “What about you?” Clay suddenly asked.
You blinked, your palm going slack. “Me?”
“You,” Clay affirmed, sounding more serious than before. “If you were one of our soulmates, how would you feel?”
The words left your lips before you could stop them. “Happy,” you blurted, suddenly feeling breathless. “So, so happy. I—”
You suddenly slapped your hand over your mouth, cutting yourself off with wide eyes. Realization struck you like a lightning bolt, and you could feel your blood run cold in your neck. I did not just say that.
“What—” George stopped. Then, a second later, he continued. “Which one of us would you want it to be? To be your soulmate?”
With trembling fingers, you moved your hand away from your mouth, your voice coming out small. “Are you asking me who I like most?”
He didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”
You almost felt your heart drop, bolting upright until you were sitting atop your sheets. Wrapping your hand around your phone, you balanced it on your lap, uncertainty springing up in your gut.
Who... I like most?
Dream, George, and Sapnap. Sapnap, Dream, and George.
To think that just a year ago, you had never spoken to them—had only ever known them as three strangers through a screen. Yet here you were now, their voices soft against your ear and your heart aching at the sound of their laughter. They made you smile beyond belief, and you wouldn’t miss a call with them for the world, even if it was three in the morning and you were dead asleep. Although you had spent time with each of them individually, just as friends did, you loved spending time with all three of them together far more, and you didn’t want to imagine having them any other way.
George, Sapnap, and Dream.
Who did you like most?
You swallowed, then opened your mouth. “I,” you choked out, “I don’t—I wouldn’t—”
You stopped, your heart pounding like a drum between your lungs. You could feel them waiting for you, as patient and caring as ever. The thought made you want to curl up into a ball and cry. Screwing your eyes shut, you sucked in a deep breath and whispered.
“I don’t think I could ever pick just one of you.”
The silence that filled the air as you closed your mouth was tense. A million unspoken words ricocheted off the insides of your mind, your heart racing within the confines of your chest. The air suddenly felt too hot, and you kicked the covers off your legs, curling your knees closer to your chest and resting your burning cheeks on top of them.
“Maybe this is a sudden thing to say,” Sapnap whispered abruptly, his words coming out slurred as he broke the silence, “but I really, really want to know what you look like right now, [Y/N].”
You felt your arms go limp around your legs. “Me, too,” George added, thoughtful and faint. “I bet you’re beautiful.”
Resisting the urge to bury your face in your hands, you ran your finger along the edge of your phone screen, the glass pressing against your hot skin. “I—um,” you began shakily, “you’ll see when we meet, okay? This way, two of us can stay a mystery.”
Clay’s soft chuckle rippled through your bedroom once more, bouncing off the walls and making your chest ache even more. “Alright.”
You felt your chest constrict with heat, feeling like you were almost about to burst at the seams from the way they were speaking. “W-Well,” you laughed, trying not to sound as panicked as you felt, “on that note, I think I’m gonna go to sleep now.” You opened your mouth to continue when a yawn cut you off, eliciting a string of laughs from your phone speaker. “I’m feeling pretty tired.”
“Sweet dreams, [Y/N],” George murmured tenderly. “Talk to you tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow,” you confirmed with your heart battering against your ribs. “Goodnight!”
Reaching over, you pressed your thumb over your phone screen, exiting the call just as swiftly as you had joined. That had been hours ago now, and while you were tired, you couldn’t shake the churning sensation in the pit of your stomach—twisting and turning as you laid back on your bed. You slipped your phone onto your nightstand, plugging it in in a forlorn haze before lying back once more. Staring up at the lonesome ceiling, you frowned, your heart suddenly feeling like an anchor in your chest.
Without even an inch of doubt, you knew: you liked them—all three of them.
And it was going to be the end of you.
Having a crush was a dangerous thing in a world full of soulmates, especially if they were online—even more so if you had multiple. You could only ever find out if someone was your soulmate if you met them in person, and you had heard far too many stories of couples meeting in person, only to learn that they weren’t fated to be. Combining that with multiple soulmate bonds slimmed the chances even further. Multiple soulmate bonds weren’t exactly unheard of, but they were rare. You had never met anyone who had one, and you doubted that you would be the first you’d know to have one.
You suddenly felt it—that familiar spark of hope you felt all those months ago when you sat at your desk chair with a shirt on your lap. The hope that drew you to them now was the very same hope that connected you in the first place. Your heart leapt, lapping up every last droplet like a man dying of thirst, yet with each new spark that rained down in your chest, the thought clawing at the back of your mind loomed larger and larger.
Just what exactly were the chances all four of you would be soulmates? It had to be next to nothing if it wasn’t zero already.
This wasn’t like the manhunt raffle—lady luck could only be so generous.
Rolling onto your side, you felt something deep inside you reach its hands up and wrap around your lungs, squeezing as tightly as it could. The ache that shot through your insides stung like a hot coal, but you knew there was nothing you could do to soothe its hungry flames. Unshed tears pricked the back of your eyelids like silver needles, and you squeezed your eyes shut, choking back a muffled whine. Your bedroom suddenly felt too big, your bed too empty.
Hope could be beautiful, but it could also destroy you from the inside out.
Tumblr media
“Do not leave the call.”
Clay’s chuckle sent a frown skittering across your face, and you let out a small whine as you leaned forward in your desk chair. “Aww,” he crooned, teasing and light, “are you jealous, Georgie?”
“N-No, what?” George sputtered, and you could almost envision the way his cheeks would flush a pretty shade of baby pink. “Just—just don’t hang up.”
“I’m telling you,” Sapnap laughed with a sly lilt, his voice sounding a little more distant than Clay’s, “he’s jealous.” You vaguely could make out the sound of his signal light from inside his car, a muffled car horn echoing from outside. “Or at least if he isn’t, [Y/N] is.”
At that, you whipped your head up, blinking wide as you shot a glare at Sapnap’s Discord icon on the side of your monitor screen. “Well, [Y/N]?” Clay drawled, a flicker of mischief dancing in his tone. “What do you have to say about that?”
You curled your fingers into your hands, a small pout settling onto your features as heat shot across your face. “I—I am!” you said, your voice coming out a fraction louder than you intended. When the other line went quiet, you shuffled back in your seat, your cheeks burning even hotter. “I am jealous, okay? It’s... it’s just not fair that you two get to meet before we do.”
There was a brief moment of silence. You were being childish, you knew, but at least you were being honest. Suddenly, Clay spoke. “We know, sweetheart,” he said gently, not at all realizing how your heart skipped a beat at the pet name. “But you’ll be able to meet us soon. Just wait a bit longer, okay? I’ll buy you both plane tickets if I have to.”
You pouted with a dejected whimper, your finger drawing small circles onto the side of your desk. “Okay.”
“Don’t sound so sad,” Sapnap chuckled with a soothing coo. “As soon as we can get you two over here, we will.”
You let out a sigh, swinging your chair from side to side with a frown. Was it so wrong of you to want to meet them so badly, to want to see them and hug them? Part of you didn’t even care if you were all soulmates at this point—you just wanted to hear them laugh in person. You wanted to make them smile. Was that really so much to ask for?
“I see him!” Clay suddenly shouted. Your head shot up faster than a bullet, and you heard the sound of a front door opening and slamming shut. “Oh, Sapnap.”
“Oh, Dream,” Sapnap called mockingly, his smile shining through in his voice. There was the sound of the car engine stopping, then a car door swinging open. “Holy crap, you’re way taller than I expected.”
You chuckled at the surprise in Sapnap’s voice, hearing George laugh along with you. “Jeez,” Clay muttered, his voice overlapping ever so slightly with the mic on Sapnap’s phone. “It’s so weird actually seeing you in person, oh my go—”
All of a sudden, Clay went silent, cutting himself off with a strangled noise of surprise. On Sapnap’s end, there was a muffled choking sound, then nothing. In a flash, you were upright, your eyes wide and your hand flying to your mouse.
“Sapnap?” George called, his tone soaked with worry. “Clay? Are you two alright?”
There came a gasp, and you could make out the sound of Sapnap struggling to search for words. “You’re—Clay’s my—”
Just like that, it clicked, like a switch had been flipped inside you. You felt something in your chest deflate, and you opened your mouth.
“Soulmates,” you whispered so quietly that you would have missed it yourself, had you not been the one to say it. “You two are soulmates, aren’t you?”
George fell silent. “I think so,” Clay mumbled, his tone coming out as if he were in a daze. “I’ve never felt anything like that before in my life—it definitely feels like what everyone says, you know? Just, really warm, and.... and...” He trailed off, ending with an enamoured sigh. “Yeah.”
Your mouth felt as though it had been sewn shut, like you wouldn’t have been able to force the words from your lips even if you tried. “How did we not know after all these years?” Sapnap giggled, his voice swimming in a mixture of disbelief and affection.
“We’ve never met in person up until now,” Clay mused, his sentence rising at the end. “This is the first time we’ve ever seen each other, let alone touched.”
“It is, isn’t it?” Sapnap murmured back wistfully. The call suddenly went quiet, and a deep, disappointed quiet fell over the four of you. Not a word was said as the harsh reality slowly settled into your hearts.
Clay and Sapnap were soulmates.
Only Clay and Sapnap.
“I’m happy for you two!” George suddenly shouted, startling you in your chair. He sounded oddly chipper—too chipper. “I wish—” He suddenly choked, pausing for a moment to catch his breath again. “I wish I was already friends with my soulmate. Meeting new people is hard.”
“Who knows?” Clay chuckled. His words were teasing, but even they couldn’t mask how crestfallen he sounded. “Maybe [Y/N] is yours.”
“Yeah,” Sapnap hummed in agreement, the hopefulness in his voice sounding just as forced as his soulmate’s. “You hear that, [Y/N]? Maybe you and Gogy were meant to be.”
Your vision was hazy and unfocused, your gaze focused on the window in your room. In the corner of the glass was a small spider web, just barely the size of your palm. You watched with blurry eyes as a fly caught in the sticky web beat its wings in desperation, struggling helplessly as a spider crawled out from behind the windowsill. You distantly wondered how trapped that fly felt—if it knew that there was no point in hoping for anything better, now.
Turning away from the window, you focused your gaze down at yourself, down at the black shirt you were wearing. A clean white axe stared back up at you, and you felt a bittersweet smile stretch across your face as you uttered a single word.
“Maybe.”
Tumblr media
A loud beep echoed from the ceiling speakers, and you jumped at the sound. All around you, people were bustling in and out of gates, towing luggage behind them as they rushed down the crowded pathways and between loitering groups of people. You whipped your head this way and that at the sight, your head spinning with all the new sights and sounds.
It was still hard to believe that just a few months prior, you wouldn’t have been able to step foot in an airport like this.
To see people move from one place to the next, seeing loved ones and meeting new people for the first time was almost exhilarating, especially after all that had happened with the world. You liked it, and you certainly hoped that it was here to stay.
You had just started walking down the main path when you felt your phone ring in your pocket. Fishing it out, your face lit up at the caller ID, and you picked up without waiting another second, pressing the cool glass to your ear with a smile. “Hi, George.”
“Hey!” he greeted with a cheerful tone. “Did you get here safely?”
Rocking back and forth on your heels, you curled your fingers a little tighter around the handle of your suitcase with a hum. “Yep.”
“Good.” You could hear the smile in his voice, and it sent a familiar tingle of warmth bouncing down your spine. “How are you feeling?”
You paused, your steps faltering for a brief second as you pondered. “Nervous,” you said after a moment or two, “but a good kind of nervous.”
“A good kind of nervous?” he repeated with a fond tone. “I think I know the word you’re looking for.”
Your lips curled up at his words, your mind flashing back to a distant day from long, long ago. “Yes, George, I’m excited.”
The laugh that fell from his lips sounded like pure music to your ears, and you caught yourself thinking that you wouldn’t mind drowning in the sound. “Me, too.” As you wove between a few sectioned off groups, George added gently, “You know where to meet us, right?”
You nodded with a small noise of confirmation, making a sharp turn down yet another long hallway. “Yeah—I’m pretty sure Clay and Sap are already waiting for us.”
George snorted, both affectionate and teasing at once. “Oh, I know they are. I’ll see you there?”
You grinned, bobbing your head along to the beat of your suitcase wheels rolling across the polished tiled floors. “For sure. See you there!”
Lowering your phone from your ear, you pressed your thumb against the screen before letting it drop into your pocket once more. A sigh escaped your lips as you let the ache you had been suppressing tumble loose, throbbing and gnawing away at the shaky shards of your heart.
How long had they known that Clay and Sapnap were soulmates, now? Five months? Six? You weren’t sure if you could even bring yourself to keep count, anymore. It hurt too much to think about. You were happy for them, you really were. But the selfish part inside you still longed for their touch, even if they wouldn’t ever truly be yours. It wasn’t that you didn’t like George, but you meant what you said—you couldn’t pick just one, and you wanted all of them, as greedy as it was.
Shaking your head, you pushed forward, your gaze darting up to the navigational sign hanging from the ceiling. No matter how painful it may be, you weren’t going to let your own heart get in the way of how amazing today was going to be. You were meeting your favourite people in the world today, and nothing was going to take that away from you.
Not even heartbreak.
Glancing briefly over at a map on the wall, you huffed as you dragged your suitcase up a set of stairs and through the corridor, chewing on the inside of your lip. George’s gate was on the opposite side of the airport from yours, and Clay and Sapnap were waiting in the middle for the two of you. His flight had arrived a bit before yours, so you knew you were just going to have to find all three of them together.
After another few minutes of walking, you found yourself walking into the central dome of the airport, the glass ceiling filtering natural light into the room as you wheeled your luggage in. Your lips parting in awe at the sight, you swept your gaze across the busy room, scanning over every head you could find. You had only been looking for a few moments when a head of dark sepia hair caught your attention. Narrowing your eyes, you shuffled forward carefully. Then, your lips split into a triumphant grin.
There they were.
In a heartbeat, you felt your insides melt at the sight. Sapnap and George looked as handsome as ever, their lips curled up into dazzling smiles as they spoke, and Clay—oh, Clay. This was the first time you would ever be seeing each other’s faces, but you didn’t have to see him to know that he was pretty. With tousled golden locks and emerald green eyes that flashed like gemstones, he was everything you could have asked for and more.
Chatting casually with one another, all three of them were dressed in comfortable clothes, and you wanted to fling yourself at them and bury yourself into their warm touch. Sucking in a deep breath, you marched toward them, slinking around so that you were facing their backs. Hugs could come later—right now, it was time for a surprise.
Treading slowly and carefully, you only stopped when you stood a foot behind them, the giddiness rising in your chest as you finally opened your mouth.
“Sapnap was right. You are tall.”
The three of them immediately whirled at the sound of your voice, their eyes as wide as saucers as their gazes locked on yours. The grin on your face only grew wider as you watched their faces light up in unison, like a set of stars coming together in the night sky.
“[Y/N],” they said at the same time, blinking wildly as you sent them a small wave.
You laughed. “Here I a—”
“We were right, too,” Clay suddenly blurted, bending over slightly. “You are beautiful.”
Your cheeks flushed with bubbling heat, and you felt your heart leap in your chest. “I—ah, um,” you stammered, taking a step back. “You look good too, Clay.”
Sapnap took a step forward, reaching his hand out toward you with a soft smile. “So, we finally meet,” he hummed, a brilliant gleam flashing across his eye. “Does this mean I get to hug you, now?”
You grinned, and with a giggle, you were leaping forward, your suitcase wobbling behind you as you let go. The moment you felt warm arms wrap around your backside, you felt yourself relax.
Then, your skin suddenly felt like it was on fire.
Warmth surged up your spine like a rippling flame, your eyes shooting wide open as you gasped, your fingers curling into the soft fabric of Sapnap’s shirt. In an instant, you were stumbling back, clutching at the space over your heart. You could feel it going absolutely haywire in your chest, pounding like never before. Your entire body felt as light as a feather, and your mind felt strangely hazy.
Impossible—it had to be.
“Sap,” you choked out, your eyes locking onto his own wide ones, “you—”
“George, Clay,” he suddenly said, reaching a hand out toward the two boys, “get over here. Right now.”
The two of them had been standing stock still just a few steps away, their jaws dropped and faces contorted with surprise as they watched you and Sapnap tremble across from one another. Swallowing, George took the first shaky step forward, reaching his hand toward yours. The moment your fingers brushed, the same tingling warmth crashed over you like a wave, and you let out a soft noise, happiness blooming in your throat like a blossom in spring. You watched with earnest eyes as George’s expression mirrored yours, his rosy lips parted in surprise as his fingers latched onto yours. The hope you had locked away months ago came pouring out of your glowing heart like a waterfall, overwhelming every inch of your senses.
“It’s not just us,” you whispered, your voice brimming with nebulous hope. “It’s George, too.”
George lifted his head, his breath hitched as he turned. “That just means...”
All three of your gazes landed on Clay, who was still frozen in place, stock still with shock. Your eyes darted to Sapnap’s, then George’s. You nodded in unison, and without saying a word, you stepped forward. You slipped your hand into Sapnap’s, your heart trembling with adoration at how big and warm his palm was against your own. Sharing one last glance with one another, you nodded. Just like that, you were slipping your hand into Clay’s, George following suit while Sapnap grabbed his.
In a heartbeat, everything felt perfect.
The empty cracks in your heart no longer felt as wide as they once did, instead flooding with burning warmth and something that felt like love. Your head spun with dizzying affection, and you felt your vision grow watery, but for an entirely different reason, now.
God, you loved them, you loved them, you loved them.
At your side, Sapnap’s hand shook in yours, surprise lacing his every word. “I can’t believe it.”
“A four-way soulmate bond,” George breathed, his own mouth twitching up into a lovestruck grin. “I—I never thought we’d have one. I mean, I always hoped but—”
Suddenly, Clay spoke up, his voice hoarse but full of sincerity. “W-Woah, are you crying? What’s wrong?”
In a flash, their eyes were on you, who had let go of Clay’s hand to press your palm against your eye. “N-Nothing’s wrong,” you said, your voice shaking with overwhelming emotion. “I’m just—I’m so happy.” A quiet sniffle bubbled up in your throat, but it didn’t stop the smile from tugging at your lips. “I liked you all so much and I was so scared that only George was going to be my soulmate, because you’re all so important to me, and I couldn’t just give you guys up like that.”
“[Y/N],” Clay choked out, his own voice starting to wobble, “stop, please. You’re going to make me cry.”
Laughing, you leaned against him, soaking into the warmth of his body as his arm instinctively wrapped around you. “Just—just cry with me, okay? We can all cry together.”
You didn’t need to say it twice. Not even a split second later, and you felt two more pairs of arms snake up around you, a nose burying itself into your hair as a cheek pressed against yours. “It looks like you won more than just one lottery then, huh?” Sapnap mumbled from above you, his chest rumbling against your back.
“Yeah,” George chuckled, his fingers lovingly rubbing small circles against your arm. “First the manhunt, now this. Just how lucky can one person be?”
You smiled, rubbing your head against Clay’s shoulder with a loving hum. “I don’t know what the universe was thinking,” you murmured, your eyelids fluttering shut as you gently rocked back and forth together, “but I’m glad I won. You three are the best prize I could have ever asked for.”
You felt a pair of lips press a soft kiss to the top of your head, your heart sighing in your chest. “I love you,” someone whispered, too softly for you to tell who it was.
All around you, the bustling airport kept moving, full of life and bursting with energy as the crowds flowed around you like a river. The world was still moving, the planet still turning beneath your feet as you embraced one another, warm and safe in each other’s arms. But in that moment, none of that mattered. A dazzling spark danced along the crevice of your heart, bright and warm and oh-so full of hope as you opened your mouth to whisper back.
“I love you all, too.”

Current tipsy headcanon:
Dustin has dyslexia.
Like really fuckin bad.
But he’s got a mom who’s head nurse in a children’s ward and a dad who didn’t let his dyslexia stop him from becoming an aerospace engineer.
So he had very early intervention and now can devour books faster than the words can flip and wiggle around the page.
Steve was not so lucky.
His dyslexia was diagnosed as laziness. As stupidity.
And after a while, it was easier to believe that. To stop trying all together.
“Mrs. Sawaya didn’t believe me that I am supposed to be allotted an extra hour on all tests. Not that I need it, but can you believe she was so rude? My mom had to intervene, and everything. I’ve never seen her so mad.” Dustin was waving a fry around delightedly as he spoke, Steve sitting across from him in their booth at the dinner.
Steve had started picking Dustin up from school on the early dismissal Fridays. He’d take him to lunch and “hang out” (read: babysit) with him until his mom was home from her double shift at the hospital.
“Why the fuck do you need extra time? I bet you always finish first and do that smug ass walk to the front to hand in your test.”
“Well, yeah. But it’s the principle of the thing, Steve. If she doesn’t take my disabilities for what they are, she’ll only begin to walk all over everyone else,” ha said wisely.
“Man, what disabilities?”
“Dyslexia.”
“Dys-what-lia?”
“Dys-lex-is. You know, where it can be hard to read because the letters on the page move around and flip places. My dad had it too. He gave me a bunch of tips on how to handle it.” Dustin didn’t talk about his dad much. He had passed away a few years prior, and the wound was still pretty raw.
Steve, on the other hand, didn’t think too deeply in Dustin bringing up his dad.
He was too focused on the way Dustin had just laid all this out on the table so nonchalantly.
“Wait, that’s a thing? The letters moving and hoping around and being dicks?”
Dustin gave him an old look.
“Yeah,” he said slowly. “Why?”
“Shit. I thought it was just me being an idiot.”
Dustin’s face split into a wide grin. Steve was still feeling like he’d been struck by fucking lightning.
“Dude! You’re dyslexic too? Honestly, this explains so much.”
“Does it?”
“Yeah! And get this, it’s treatable! Well, not totally treatable. Manageable is probably a better word for it. But I can help you! And you’ll be just fine?” His eyes were gleaming with determination and excitement.
And a similar feeling was starting to stir in Steve’s gut.
It’s manageable.
Fuck.
“Where do we start?”
Dustin grinned again.
“The library!”

Summary: My Headcannons: The One-shot.
Rating: General (dw ppl you can read this infront of your parents)
Notes: This is basically just some ninjagays i thought about idk oh and this takes part during their bromance era so
----------------------
Since the humble beginnings of the ninja team there had been a single activity that never changed no matter what: healing sessions. They were at first just another job for the first two students, Jay and Cold, to do so that they could bond together as a duo, and it really just was fixing your own injuries and sometimes asking the other one for help, but as two became three and three became four, it was pretty obvious they would start evolving.
It all began with Kai's arrival to the temple and their first actually dangerous mission against Garmadon. They came back home tired, worn out, and seriously beaten up, so when the time for a healing session arrived they basically depended on each other to fix their injuries. Cole's hands felt numb, Jay had a seriously bad lightning injury he got on himself, Kai's fists and arms were bruised and sore, and Zane was the only one who could actually help.
"I'm fine, I'm telling you. I'm okay-" Was what Jay tried to say before hissing in pain as Zane continued to disinfect his injury. It was big, it was bloody and it was all across his back. "Jay, you're not in position to try and heal it yourself, please let me help" Zane was surprisingly not panicking over the fact his friend had survived a whole-ass lighting attack and yet was still saying he was okay "Your lucky it only brushed against you, if it had hit you you would've ended in the hospital".
Jay sighed at this "I guess your right, but wouldn't i survive if i got struck by lighting? I'm the master of lighting after all!" Jay argued, fighting back the urge to hiss once again as Zane kept on with his slow and steady cleaning work. "You may be the master of lighting but you're still human, and I don't want my friends hurt" Zane said as he finally finished with his work, Jay soon sitting up from laying down and facing the bed and smiling a bit "I'm glad we are friends".
----------------------
"No- Goddamit Kai quit moving!" While Jay and Zane were having quite a nice time together, Cole and Kai were having a bit more trouble if we can put it like that. "I'm trying but your numbness isn't helping!". Zane had moved Jay to another room to fix his injuries as they were pretty bad, and since it was a pretty lengthy process, the remaining two had decided to try and get the job done themselves, which resulted in quite the..chaotic experience.
Cole couldn't feel a thing in his hands even if it was hurting them, so that wasn't of big help when he began his attempts at fixing Kai's injuries. Kai was surprisingly sensitive and didn't enjoy pain in the slightest in fact he tried avoiding it. Combine this two and it's pure chaos.
Cole's fingers would accidentally touch the bruises a bit too much and Cole would automatically pull his hands away, which leaded to them bickering over and over again. That was until the sense of touch started coming back to Black's hands, which was great news as Red would now actually let him fix his very bruised arms.
"Huh, you're not as bad as i thought you'd be. You actually do a pretty good job at this!" Kai complimented, smiling a bit as he admired the work Cole did to make sure his arms would heal well enough. "I got in fights sometimes, you know how it is" Cole admitted, smiling as well before finding some bloody injuries right over Kai's knuckles.
"I think we gotta get you something to aid your knuckles with" Cole pointed out as he grabbed some rubbing alcohol, Kai soon realizing and pulling his hand away.
"You're not planning on putting that on my knuckles are you?"
"What, are you scared?"
"No I'm not!"
"Bullshit"
Kai frowned. If there was something he hated was to being basically told he was a scaredy-cat, but lucky him did Zane come just in time to save him from that fate of having rubbing alcohol all over his injuries.
"You can come check on him now, he's all bandaged up" But before he could even finish, Cole was already there and checking on Jay who was pretty much zooted out. Bless and curse those painkillers that Zane got because those were some of the funniest moments in their lifetime.
The white ninja was no where near being unobservant, and he immediately spotted the bloody knuckles all over Kai's hands, gently holding them to check them out. "Don't think you'll fool me and get me to get that alcohol over my injuries because that is not happening".
Zane only chuckled a bit, using his ice powers to soothe the pain in them just a bit before putting the rubbing alcohol over his injuries, which made it much more tolerable than expected. How the hell could Zane just do everything much more tolerable?
And with that, the birth of their tradition started

Day 68: Rain
(Or 4 times Harry and Draco get caught in the rain and one time they don't)
As Draco was on his way out after a very long day of work one afternoon, the skies opened up and it started to pour.
"Just wonderful," he grumbled as he reached for his wand and cast a hasty umbrella charm to protect himself from getting wet. He heard the sounds of people all around him doing the same but when he looked up he saw someone doing something quite different.
Potter was just standing there letting the rain soak through his hair and through his clothes, water rolling down his nose and his chin as he stood there with his head bowed.
He wondered if Potter had forgotten his wand or forgotten the charm, perhaps, but as he watched Potter took his glass off, looked up to the sky and just stood there, letting the rain run down his face.
Draco was entranced. But it wasn't adorable, he told himself firmly. Potter's face opened up into a smile and there was something inside of Draco that unclenched at how free and young Potter looked standing there in the rain.
After another heartbeat watching him, he shook his head and started off, leaving Potter standing in the rain.
------------
They were on a mission the second time he and Potter got caught in the rain.
It had been looking gloomy the entire afternoon that they'd spent on a stake out in a muggle community and he'd been hoping the rain would hold off because he didn't have any choice but to get wet.
Draco hadn't ever been especially lucky and this afternoon was no exception. A little while after they'd finished their lunch it started to pour. He grumbled and tried to edge closer to the building, seeking what little shelter there was under the eave.
Potter on the other hand, grinned like a loon and stepping out a touch further, holding his hands out and watching the rain drops falling on his palms; little puddles gathering.
"What is it with you and the rain?"
Potter shrugged, "I dunno," he replied, glancing over at Draco, "it just makes me happy."
And Draco might find it a bit charming, the childlike innocence that peaked out every so often and caught him off guard.
Fortunately, he was saved from having to respond when the man they'd been watching for appeared a few booths down at the market. Potter spotted him first and was up in a flash, chasing after him and leaving Draco to follow along in his wake and try not to miss the sweet, wistful expression that had been on the other man's face.
(Read more below the cut)
The third time that he witnessed Harry getting caught in the rain, they were playing a friendly game of quidditch. And the rain came on so hard and so sudden that everyone gave up and landed their brooms.
Thunder rumbled overhead and lightning struck, the oppressive heat they'd bee experiencing for days broke as the rain washed over them. Everyone made for the house, dashing up the drive to the cozy cottage that Ginny and Luna had made their home.
Everyone except Harry who tipped his head back and started laughing, arms extending as he spun in circles.
"What are you doing?" Draco shouted.
"Doesn't it feel amazing?" Harry called back, not ceasing his spinning.
Draco shook his head but couldn't keep the smile from his face, "You're barmy."
Harry looked over at him, smiling back, "Yes, well you're the one out here keeping my company so what does that make you?"
"Also completely batty," he replied without missing a beat.
"Come on," Harry said, holding out a hand for Draco to take and wiggling his fingers.
Draco reached over and took it, his fingers sliding wetly through Harry's, and Harry pulled him in and started to dance with him. It was unlike any dance Draco had ever done before; sloppy and uncoordinated, there was no music apart from Harry's appalling humming which hardly constituted as music at all, and there was no discernible pattern to the way Potter was moving their bodies together.
Yet somehow it was the best thing Draco had ever done.
Harry tried to spin him but the ground was turning to mud beneath their feet and both of them just ended up slipping and falling.
Draco landed mostly on Harry, wincing and beginning an apology before Harry burst out laughing once more. The sound was free and unfettered, and Draco felt certain that his heart had gone flying away with it.
"You're ridiculous," Draco informed him as he started making his way to his feet again before reaching out to drag Harry to his feet as well.
"Would you go on a date with me?" Harry asked, voice warm and loose.
He smiled, "Seriously?"
The other man nodded, pushing his wet curls back off his face.
"Yes, alright."
"Alright," Harry repeated with a smile before he pulled him back in and started dancing with him again.
---------------
Work had gotten busy and their official date had been bumped back a few weeks but by the time they finally got to go, most of their nerves had worked themselves out. Harry took him to dinner and then one of those muggle cinemas and he'd been completely amazed by it.
Every time he looked over at Harry, Harry was already watching him and grinning widely as though the entire point of coming to watch a movie was to watch the person you were with instead.
Something warmed in his chest every time he caught the other man looking, though.
"Did you actually watch any of the movie?" Draco asked as they wandered down the street vaguely in the direction of Draco's flat. He looped his arm through Harry's and Harry tugged him close.
"I watched enough," he said with a shrug.
Draco nudged him with his shoulder, "Thank you for tonight," he murmured, "it's been really lovely."
"It's absolutely my pleasure," he replied.
They chatted amicably as they made their way toward Draco's flat and they were only a block away when it started to rain.
"It's like you do this on purpose!" Draco exclaimed.
Harry laughed, "I don't control the weather."
"Are you certain?"
The other man shook his head, "I'm not certain of anything when I'm around you," he murmured, turning to face Draco as a raindrop carved a path down his face. "When I'm with you all I know is that I want to spend more time with you. Nothing else matters."
Draco cupped Harry's face in his hands and leaned in, pressing a kiss to his lips.
Harry groaned and his hands grabbed onto the fabric at Draco's hips, pulling him closer as he angled his head to get better access to Draco's mouth. And Draco lost himself in the wet press of their mouths against one another's, in the way that he could feel the heat radiating off of Harry's body in spite of the chill of the rain.
By the time one of them pulled back they were both completely drenched but it didn't bother either of them. "Can I invite you in for coffee?" Draco asked.
Harry nodded, "I'd like that very much."
-----------
The fifth time it started raining when Draco was with Harry, he heard it before he saw it.
"S'raining," he murmured into the warm, dark of the bedroom.
Harry hummed and pulled Draco a little closer, their bodies shifting and slotting together like that's what they were always meant to do. "I don't need the rain," Harry murmured.
"Hmm?" he whispered, still mostly asleep.
Harry pressed an uncoordinated kiss to Draco's temple, "you make me happier than the rain."
And perhaps from anyone else it wouldn't have seemed like a compliment, but from Harry, it seemed to be the highest praise there was.

Thanks so much for the prompt @sirius-you-know! I hope you enjoy it, sweetie! <3

Hello, I have a request that's been eating at me. I read a lot of fics where the reader is afraid of thunderstorms, but I really can't relate. My family used to sit on the porch and watch the lightning like I was looking at fireworks, the rumbles lull me to sleep. I was also one of those kids who rain outside in heavy rain. Can I request some Shouto, Izuku, Kaachan and Kaminari heacanons with an S/O who looooves thunderstorms and heavy rains please?
s/o who loves thunderstorms
Tumblr media
featuring: todoroki, midoriya, bakugo, and kaminari
the older i get the more i appreciate the sounds of heavy nature. i also like the idea of flipping concepts and doing something different! thank you and enjoy. x
todoroki
he also enjoys the soothing sound of thunder and heavy rain
he’s already a pretty sleepy boy so staying up and watching storms with you is almost out of the question
he’ll do it if you want but he’ll most likely be fast asleep in about ten minutes
and you’ll know when his head starts to lean into your shoulder
he prefers falling asleep with you during a storm
he finds the sentiment very comforting and the way you snuggle up to him makes him feel all warm and cozy
he’s not a huge fan of you running outside in the rain but he can’t complain if it makes you happy, he’s happy to watch you from a drier spot
one time you asked him if his quirk would work during a storm
like if he could freeze the rain or if he could even use his fire side at all
that got him thinking and he became curious about it too because he didn’t know either
he did have preconceived notions about it like that his fire side would be particularly useless during a heavy rainstorm
and that he could only make ice itself and wasn’t so sure that he could freeze moving rain
you thought that maybe this could be a new revelation for his power and that he could combine the two quirks and create steam or something
although he was doubtful, he tried anyway but the rain was still affecting his ability mostly to produce heat
“it looks like i’ll have to try it another time when it’s not raining. now, we should get inside before you get sick, my love.”
he makes sure you’re all showered and dry and comfy before getting relaxed with him under a blanket
at this point you’re glued to his left side because of how warm he is
he’ll even raise the temperature a little higher so it feels like the blanket just came out of the dryer and you feel so comfortable
it makes you fully relax as you doze off on him with the soothing sound of rain hitting the building in the background
he sees you struggling to stay awake, “you can fall asleep on me if you like, baby.”
he rubs your back with his warm hand and kisses your head, effectively making you succumb to sleep
midoriya
he seems like someone who would be spooked by thunder and lightning claps
so you’d most likely be the one comforting him during a storm
and he definitely doesn’t like you going outside in that kind of weather
he’s afraid you’ll get struck by lightning
however, he wants to beat this fear of storms because he might have to fight a villain during one and he wants to be prepared for anything
so he starts practicing kicks outside whenever it rains
more like every time it rains
and he’ll be out there for a while, just trying to improve his mobility in the rain
which is not out of character for him
even before you started dating, you knew that he was persistent and didn’t give up so easily
it’s both a good and bad quality to have
the bad being that he doesn’t know when to quit, even when his body is telling him to do so
you felt a little hypocritical about dragging him out of the rain like he’s done to you
but this wasn’t so much about the rain than about what he’s doing to himself
once you finally get him inside and make sure a hot shower, warm clothes, and some tea are in order
he’s very grateful for how much you take care of him
“thank you, sweetie. i know i can push it too hard sometimes but i do appreciate what you do for me. you should try training out in the rain too sometime though!”
it’s hard not to smile at his undying enthusiasm
you agree to go out with him next time but for the time being, you’d rather stay inside and listening to the storm with him
even though he trains outside in the rain now, it doesn’t change him getting jumpy from the thunder claps
but luckily, he has you to snuggle into him to look forward to
bakugo
he doesn’t understand your fascination of heavy rain and thunder
meanwhile he’s literally out like a light during storms
he’s used to loud noises like that given his quirk so it never bothers him
it can keep you up though because you just love to watch it
so he doesn’t love to share a bed with you during a storm as he just wants to sleep
more like he just wants you to sleep next to him instead of watching some stupid rain
“hey, dumbass. quit staring out the window and come lay next to me!”
he literally has to drag you to bed so you don’t stay up too late
he’ll hold you tight against his body to try to get you to relax and go to sleep
but then you’ll start squirming in his hold and feeling those movements against him makes him blush
“why are you so fidgety, you idiot?”
he ends up laying on top of you, which is perfectly fine because it’s one of his favorite ways to cuddle you anyway
he will not, however, run around like an idiot outside in the rain
he also doesn’t even care that midoriya is training outside in the rain because what villain would be dumb enough to attack in a thunderstorm?
he usually has to go out to reign you in at some point
and one time when he finally caught you by your wrists, he couldn’t help but notice how attractive you were in that moment
your hair drenched was and stuck to your neck
and he was mesmerized by the droplets of rainwater running down to pool in your heaving collarbones
he felt the need to pull you in for a kiss with his hands holding either side of your head
he was definitely the stupidest thing he had ever done but the way you looked at him after the heated kiss was all worth it
unfortunately, he got sick after that and blames you for all of it but he feels lucky that you’re there to take care of him
kaminari
he likes them but mostly because he feels “more powerful” due to the lightning
so he’s more of a heat storm person that likes to watch the lightning behind the clouds
he can get a little too overzealous about it, “what if i could bend lightning like in avatar? wouldn’t that be the coolest, babe?”
you point out that he can already bend lightning but he thinks that ‘electrification’ doesn’t sound as cool
sometimes he attributes your attraction to him to your love of thunderstorms and lightning
you had never really made the connection and you always tell him that he’s just a cute and sweet boy that love you too
he also can get a little jumpy with the thunder because sometimes it’s really loud and you never know when the loud ones are going to hit
he’ll try to keep himself from getting too scared
but then he sees how midoriya’s s/o is when midoriya gets jumpy with the thunder
so sometimes he’ll exaggerate his shivers and jumps when you’re cuddling him during a storm so you’ll get even closer to him
then the warmth and weight of your body against him makes him blush
he’d be the most willing to go out into the rain with you
let’s face it, the real reason you’re dating him is that you’re both idiots
one time he decides to try to bend the lightning from the storm and just caused a huge explosion
thank god you were with him because he ended up short circuiting and would’ve been left out there alone
it took a lot of your energy to get him back home and you nearly collapsed once you had returned
he felt really bad after that and apologized profusely for putting you in danger
you also ended up falling ill after that so he made sure that you were well cared for
he brought you all your favorite snacks and things but made sure you were drinking water
and he got you a white noise machine that played heavy rain and thunderstorm sounds so that you would get adequate rest
even if he can’t exactly lightning bend, he still makes you just as happy as storms do

Donna Beneviento x F!Reader
This ended up being longer than I anticipated but I do hope you enjoy!
Words: 3.9k
House Beneviento. The name had always sent shivers down your spine when you heard the other adults talk about it. You were just a female young adult with a liking towards flowers that would grow and intoxicated you with their scent. The stereotypical feminine liking towards flowers had most certainty made you the eye-candy for all the boys but you never seen yourself liking any of them back. All your life you had lived in the Village of the Shadows, you had never caught any feelings for the opposite sex. It was a strange to the elder women, they used to try pair you up with a match but every time you had refused their offering of a male towards you. Sometimes you felt as though you had put your family to shame but there was always another part of you telling you you had nothing to be ashamed off. This was you, you will choose who to love and if you never want to love or just couldn't, you were willing to accept that.
Recently, some things had been off with the Village and it's civilisation. You knew better then to question your religion on worshipping Mother Miranda as you had found comfort in knowing that someone out there was willing to protect you- too bad those days were gone and well, that was when you were just a child reaching the age of 7. Now, age 19, you've came to consider the down sides and the strange disappearance of some in the Village.
"(Y/n) my darling, would you please go collect some herbs?" Your mother had called from the kitchen as you had sat pondering in your own thoughts about the strange noises you would hear outside on a night. Having your head sat on your hand with an elbow on the table, you turned your head to face your mother who was stood with a soft smile and faint beads of sweat dripping down her forehead from cooking over the fire.
"Doesn't the elders go gather the herbs mother?" You questioned her as you move your head off your hand and decided to get up and ready for your journey after being requested by your mother. Your mother however was already caught up back in her work of cooking, completely ignoring you. You sighed with sagged shoulders and moved to collect your white cloak which had been tainted with mud at the bottom. "I'll see you soon mother," You spoke as you paced yourself to the front door and swung it open, being greeted by the swift coldness of the air.
Stepping onto the snow, you breathed in the crisp frost and stepped forward to begin your journey near the forest. Normally the elders would go collect the herbs but seemingly because you knew the area from flower picking, you are now the perfect fit to do it. Pulling your cloak closer to your body, you lifted the hood and let it sit on your head and shoulders and the rest of it draped down and covered you up to your ankles. Your breath had left faint clouds in front of you, making patterns as it swirled. This wasn't the best weather to be out in but you hoped your beige cotton dress would keep you warm enough.
As you walked through the village, you tended to ignore everyone. Their looks on you made you feel so left out. You were the only women of age who hadn't been together with a single boy of your age division. It frustrated you that such social thoughts that a women should be together with a man always made you mad. For the name of Mother Miranda, why couldn't some people in the village accept some don't want to love and some rather love someone the same gender. There was nothing wrong with choosing someone to love- but you supposed it was like this because the population of the village was going down and repopulating the village would be needed. You didn't like the idea but it was something you were taught at a young age. Slipping through tight areas, you made your way towards the the rocky bridge where you would cross to get to the forest where most of the herbs had grown.
You hoped you would find some near the front entrance.
Luck wasn't something you had, you had always been careful when you were younger making sure to never let any superstition past your mind. Any newly made shoes on the table? You would move them. Someone knocked over a mirror? You would of tried your best to catch it. You were always so careful when it came to things like that. It just made you more adorable in the eyes of those who wanted to have you for their own personal needs and you knew what personal needs they wanted. Reason why you realised you didn't have a lot of luck was the fact that the herbs you needed for medicine wasn't there. They had been cut clean and most likely would grow in another month. "Looks like I have to go further in" You whispered to yourself, taking down your hood and lifting the front of your dress up so you could climb over tree roots and not trip over a small pebble. What you didn't know when travelling further into the forest was a pair of watchful eyes...more than a pair of watchful eyes.
Humming a soft tune, you walked past the creepy dolls that were hung by the branches and got ready your small sheers to cut the herbs when you found them. Shivers crawled down your spine as you looked around, you hated those dolls with a passion- well they were cute some of them but mostly scary in your eyes. Everyone knew who's territory you were in.
Lady Beneviento's. The lady who apparently practically controlled the dolls and would use them to her command. She was a Lady. These were the rumours that had passed about your village of your time living there, which was your whole life. You knew every story about Beneviento, you couldn't help it. You had to know all about the stories to know who ruled over you and who you should worship, it wasn't a choice. Searching more, you were lucky enough to come across the correct herbs you needed, they were under a large tree with some small daisies growing underneath it from the sheltered floor by the leaves. Mentally cheering, you jogged towards the tree and leaned down, plucking at the stems of the herbs with your sheers. Whilst you was doing this, you didn't realise the lady dressed in black behind you behind a tree with a hand over a hyper-active doll clamping her mouth shut
She was intrigued at your sudden appearance. She had left her manor in search of a quiet day out seemingly the coldness would pick up very soon and she just needed that air to clear her mind. What she didn't expect was a new person to be walking in her territories and almost in the centre as well. Weirdly, she felt appreciated at the new accompany but she didn't like the fact you came and starting to pluck at her plants she didn't appreciate. She had to keep Angie quiet so she doesn't get spotted, maybe you would leave after you plucked them.
Back to yourself, you placed the freshly cut herbs into a pocket that was in your dress. Yes, you owned a practical dress with pockets which you were more than thankful for. Standing up and stretching, you turned around and smiled at your accomplishment. You felt so proud of yourself being able to come far into the Beneviento's area and being able to be brave enough to not back out. Raising your hand to your hair, you brushed out the knots and started to skip your way back home, humming once again.
Watchful eyes had followed you back to the bridge. She was caught off guard with your smile, how free you looked and how graceful you had skipped. Your humming had became a melody to her that hit all the right notes, it attracted a faint heat to rise to her cheeks. "Are you really acting like that?" The doll had whispered to her owner, staring at the black veil. The owner tilted her head to the side, showing that she was rather confused. "If you want her, quickly let us grab her and she can become out new playmate." The doll wiggled her way out of her owners arms as she had decided to go deep into thought.
Playmate? Playmate meant life to her...you being her playmate struck lightning to her heart and made her start to fidget with her fingers. A pretty being like you- no an enchanting- no...there was no words to describe how beautiful you were in her eyes. You were just so perfect, prettier than any goddess ever. You were fair like a doll, your skin looked so delicate to touch, your eyes glistened with a shine that glossed over your huge pupils. How was someone like you created? Someone that had melted any cold around her own heart. Who needs that boring playmate who was already half dead back at her mansion when she could have you.
Just as you were about to step foot on the bridge, a sudden movement of the wind picking up behind you had made you turn your head. At first you felt dizzy as your turned, your vision began to blur and was soon covered with black dots. The last thing you ever saw was the Lady dressed in black.
"she's waking up~!" A voice had rang in your head causing you to scrunch up your nose and scrunch your already shut eyes closed. The voice was high pitch, much louder than any young girl's voice. Using your hands to feel around you, you felt soft silk under your touch. Opening your eyes barely, you were greeted with a a grey tinted white above you as you were laid down. Closing your eyes to get rid of any excess blur, you reopened them and and breathed out heavily.
"What's going on..." Your voice came out hoarse, making it sound like you hadn't drank in days.
"Maybe we knocked her out a little hard?" Again the high pitched voice had said. You were curious, your mind always got the better of you but your shyness always lingered. You stayed put, staring up at the ceiling as you could hear movement being made around you along with the sound of something pattering against what you could only think of to be the floor. Maybe wood?
As you were about to speak up again and ask where you were, you jumped slightly at the touch of something small touching your ankle. Heaving your body up quickly, you was met with a doll dressed in a wedding gown holding onto your left ankle. You swallowed back a lump in your throat and raised a hand to your mouth, slightly biting down on it on hopes of not to scream. However that didn't go as plan as a small whimper came from your mouth. You quickly moved your body up on what you could see to be a bed and backed away right to the top of it trying to make distance between the doll and yourself. The doll laughed at your actions and you pulled your knees up to your chest. You wanted out. Where were you? Why are you here with this doll. You just wanted to go back home...
More noises came into the room. The small patters against the floor accompanied with larger ones had caused you to duck your head into your arms in fear. If that doll was here, then that must mean the Lady was here too. Those stories of the Manor of Beneviento came running back into your mind. You were here, your escape far gone. You were going to die here.
A sudden cough made you flinch further into your arms and the laugh of the doll had quietened down. "You may leave Angie." The new voice had spoke. The voice held such innocence yet it sounded like a grown women who had seen more than enough. More patter noises went away just as it first came. Thinking you were now safe, you raised your head up to only be met with the women dressed in black you saw from the forest. Tears had already sprung from your eyes and you shook your body, repeating the word 'no' out of fear. Not knowing what to do, Donna- the lady dressed in black- had sat at the end of the bed and just stared at you. You could feel sleep pull against your eye lids wanting you to sleep but knowing that the women you heard rumours about killing people did not sit good in your head, not to mention she was in the same exact room with you.
It took a while but you eventually calmed down, heavy breaths leaving your throat as you stared at her. You felt so small to be near someone who had loads of authority over you. You felt powerless, feeling like a small bunny next to her. "Its okay" She spoke, placing her hands onto her lap sitting up straight. You stayed quiet, going back to biting your lip feeling the taste of slight blood. "I have no intentions of hurting you."
You felt tears once again sting your eyes and your vision had blurred. You just wanted to go back home. Panicking at your crying, Donna had stood up and ran to your side scaring you at the same time. She pulled you into a close hug and rested your head on her chest. Slowly she petted your head, stroking you hair and running her fingers through it. Although the touch was strange to happen, you couldn't help but fall against her feeling weak under any power she had. You were nothing but a plaything to her, that's what you knew. However in her eyes you were the most perfect doll to ever walk and talk. Your tearing soon stopped, although you had been lost in thought for a while that you failed to notice your own hiccups.
Under the black veil, Donna had been smiling at the contact and the way you were responding. She felt your weight against her and felt her heart flutter. Such a precious person against her. She didn't know your name, your likes or anything about you but she wanted to with your permission. She wanted to know what colours you likes, if you liked dresses or if you'd prefer a suit. She wanted to dress you up in many clothing with your permission. For the first time ever, Donna had felt as though maybe the world was truly turning in her direction. You were so adorable even if you had tears in your eyes. She'd make them stop, oh she would do anything to make them stop but she knew she couldn't do anything. She knew she was part of the problem but she'd make sure you warm up to her. She would make sure you would understand her and maybe even became friends...maybe even more.
She trailed her hand from your hair to your cheek, you had fell asleep not to long ago from exhaustion and comfort from the Lady of the Manor. Donna sighed deeply, closing her eyes under her veil and pulling you even closer. Your soft snores had caused a gentle laugh to escape her lips. Surely you didn't have to go back where you came from? No, Donna wouldn't let you. She would keep you, hat's what she decided. Sure you were scared but she was more than happy to work on that with you. She would make sure you wouldn't be scared of her in a while, she couldn't have you if you were. Although Donna had felt an instant connection between the both of you, she was a very patient women when it came to wanting something she wanted. She'll just wait for you to love her, he wouldn't force you into anything. Oh the ideas that spilled into her mind about spoiling you with clothing and toys, there was so many.
Unconsciously, you turned to face her fully in your sleep. Your face was red from the tears that had spilled but you seemed calm when you were sleeping. Like a bunny...just like a bunny. Your nose would twitch every now and again as Donna watched you closely, holding you against her. Mentally Donna was squealing, you were so sweet! So different from others. Her old playmates would refuse to sleep and end up dying because she hadn't had any connection with tem but now, you had a serious connection with her and she wasn't going to let you go any time soon.
And she didn't. But you didn't mind. The day after you woke up, you were left to stay in that same room, with food and water on the side table, for a total of a week before you had decided it was time to walk about and brave your journey. You were worried about your family. Did they forget about you? Did they think you were dead? Why go back if it has been so long since you went back home.
When you left that small room, you were instantly surrounded by the small dolls. You were going to scream but the sound stopped in your throat when you saw them holding what seemed to be clothing towards you. A small note was written and placed onto of them. Crouching down, you gently lifted the clothing out of the doll's hands along with the note and out of curiosity, you gently patted the top of the doll's head. The doll jumped in excitement and jumped onto you, making you yelp in the process, and climbed to place itself on your shoulder. Calming down and gathering your breath, you walked back into your room and placed the clothing om the bed, grabbing the note to read first. The doll on your shoulder looked down at the note too.
Miss,
I am sure you are very confused on what's happening but I just couldn't leave you. You had me at first glance, you are a perfect being you know? So fair and graceful, my gosh your indeed a heart stealer. I won't force you into anything but I think it's more professional to be upfront about feelings than to hide them away. The clothing provided should hopefully be in your size maybe- but If not to do worry for I'll change them for you. I really hope you like them.
Your sincerely, Donna Beneviento
You placed the note down and looked towards the clothing. Gently picking them up, you saw it was a white dress with a silver embroidery pattern hand sowed into it. You felt your heart miss a beat. The Lady created something for you. Surely this was kindness right- no you wouldn't question it. It was sweet of her. You started to think that maybe you should apologise to her. After all you did cry and more than likely disturbed her day. Her actions for you showed she wasn't a killer at all like some of the rumour of the Village would say. They sounded made up. A killer wouldn't make clothes for their victims...and the word 'feelings' popped back into your mind. A lady has feelings for you...you. Your heat beat had started again and sped up a lot. This creation of her for you was so generous. Something you hadn't witness a lot growing up.
Gently placing the doll that was on your shoulder onto the bed, you quickly changed into the clothing provided and folded your dirty clothing up to place at the end of the bed you had been staying in. Picking the doll back up, you placed them on your shoulder and walked back to the door to open it and then step outside of it. The place was rather big, quiet a few hallways from what you could see. "Hey buddy," You spoke to the doll on your shoulder. "Where is the Lady, I would like to apologise for my actions." You watched as the doll looked around first before pointing down the hallway. You followed where the doll pointed and soon ended up in a room where a desk sat at one far corner and a green leather sofa had been placed facing what seemed to be a projection. Sat on the sofa was the Lady, it seemed she was caught up in her work as she was sewing a patch up on one of the doll's clothing.
You coughed to gain her attention.
She turned and for the first time, you saw her with her veil up. Her face said it all, she stood up quickly accidently throwing the doll in her hand on to the ground and reached the back of her head to pull her veil over. "Please," You pleaded quickly, raising your hand up in a 'stop' emotion. "It's okay, I don't mind ma'am." You said using your manners. She stopped reaching to pull her veil back on and faced to stare at you with a small smile dancing on her lips.
"Are you sure?" She asked, raising her own hand to cover what seemed to be scarring from something. You nodded and folded your hands in front of you. Slowly you bowed, showing respect and spoke softly.
"I apologise for earlier this week, I had no right to be so scared of you. My apologise for my disruption. I hope I didn't cause you too much trouble." As you were still bowing, a hand had grabbed your chin and a pair of lips had met your cheek as your head was risen. You felt you face heat up at the contact, it was such a soothing move and it made you longing for more of her touch.
"There isn't a need to apologise, for I would accept any mood you were in." She said as her voice was so close to your ear. You inhaled her scent, the smell of herbs and a smell of roses were diffused off her clothing. You felt her touch once again, this time she had grabbed your hands gently and held them, rubbing her thumbs on the back of your hands in a calming matter. "Would you like to join me and my friends for lunch?" She asked as she quickly moved her hand once again to brush a stray hair from your face. Without using your words you had nodded to her request, making her smile in delight.
"You're smile is very pretty ma'am." you spoke without thinking, not even realising what you had said. Donna was more than happy to hear you speak, your voice was far prettier than your humming but either way she felt the same feelings as she had before.
"What is the fair ladies name?" She asked you, placing her hands on your hips as you shyly looked down at them resting there.
"My name is (Y/n) Ma'am." You said with formality.
"Such a beautiful name," Donna whispered, going back to touch your hand and raise it to her lips to gently kiss it. You was taken back at the sudden action once again, however you did not refuse it.
Again you wanted her to to hold you, just like she wanted to have you.

Sweat was dripping down your forehead, over the bridge of your nose onto your fitted red sport shirt. You quickly let go of the handles, belonging to the hanging leg raise workout equipment of your local gym. You tried standing.
Your feet were still wobbly from the previous exercise, now having to mainly focus on the intense pain in your abdominal muscles. With a quick movement you grabbed your small towel and dabbed away the fresh sweat on your face. A long sip of water closely followed.
Still with heavy breathing, trying to calm yourself down, you took a glance around the almost vacant gym. There were not many people around at this hour. Most people decided to come near the afternoon.
There was an older woman running on the track mill, humming softly to the tunes played from her headphones you believed. She obviously tried to block out the fast energizing sounds from the gyms speakers. You never minded them, being too occupied with your own thoughts anyway.
Further on the side, there was a very muscular man, working further on his biceps and triceps, even though they probably already had the size of your head. There were some actual gym monsters here. You and your noodle arms couldn’t even dare to compare. But you still wanted to keep fit and sporty, not being the next bodybuilder.
Your eyes moved towards the fully mirrored wall. Your eyes froze upon a head full of reddish hair. And an extremely attractive backside of a young man, probably around your age. Instead of being the decent human being, you should probably be, your eyes watched attentively how his muscles tensed at the impact of the weightlifting. His arms were smaller than the guy before but they looked just right on him. You already admired his hard working spirit.
To put it into words: this guy was absolutely goddamn attractive in your eyes. He had a determined look on his face, his dyed sweaty hair was sticking to his forehead. Besides that, his facial features were just heavenly. Eyes as big as coins and a defined jawline, sharp nose.
When your eyes met his suddenly in the mirror, it struck to you how long you must’ve stared at the stranger. You immediately averted your gaze, anywhere else. Oh look, what a nice water dispenser and wow, nice sweat stain on your shirt. The incoming blush on your face didn’t make it any easier.
Suddenly remembering you still haven’t finished your set, you moved up your recently used machine, propping your back up against the backside and started moving your legs upwards. You just prayed that he didn’t just catch you staring at him so obviously and that wasn’t looking at you now. Why was your life so humiliating sometimes?
When you finished your set, you quickly moved machines, just thinking about moving out of his eye sight radius. To your disadvantage, you didn’t think clearly about where to go next, resulting in you awkwardly trying to find out how to work this machine in particular, you never happened to use before. Really humiliating Y/N, actually!
No matter how hard you tried to move it, it didn’t budge by the impact. Not even an inch. This was just your lucky day. You were on the verge of quitting this unexplainable weird machine and moving on, when you suddenly heard a voice next to you.
“Do you maybe need help with this?” Your head whipped in lightning speed towards the source of the soft voice, to your shock swing the blond haired attractive guy in front of you. He now had a grey towel hanging from his shoulder and a water bottle in his hand. The strands of his hair were still sticking on his damp forehead. You nearly choked from pure air, being in such close proximity to him. From up close, he looked even more handsome.
Your eyes went wide, struggling to say anything. Your head was like cotton candy, nothing wise seemed to come out. You remembered faintly croaking out a strained and way too high ‘yes please’, when he started to explain you what you did wrong. You subconsciously held your breath, having him bend over to the front of the machine to adjust the settings more fitting to you.
“It’s a tricky machine, honestly. I wouldn’t have understood it either without a coaches help.” He explained, his hand now resting on his hip bone. You noticed the thick veins along his strong muscular arm, making you literally wanna hold onto them.
You looked up to him again. He had a gentle smile on his face. “Is it now better? You need to move this up in order to begin- yes just like that - perfect” he watched you finally being able to move on your own. You sighted in relieve, giggling slightly in embarrassment.
“Thank you, oh god I must’ve looked so embarrassing.” He looked down swiftly on the ground before shaking his head laughing lightly. “No it’s all good. Not many people use this machine in the first place. I’m glad to help.”
“You didn’t say it wasn’t embarrassing.” You chuckled, nervously trying to avert your gaze onto his shoes. He giggled childlike, not fitting to his first impression exactly, but still making you feel giddy. “Well, it looked a bit funny but it was cute.” He grinned cheekily. You flushed even harder, trying to persuade yourself that it was only looking like you just had finished a heavy workout.
“Hey, if you have any more questions about equipment or else wise, I’m right over there. Don’t feel shy to ask.” He pointed pack to the place in front of the mirror, he was standing before. His other hand reached for his neck as he send you a last smile, seeing as you nod and thank him again.
You couldn’t help but smile to yourself, feeling the typical symptoms of an incoming crush. In the corner of your eye you saw him get into position again. Your eyes met again for a swift moment before you both looked away. Were you really that easy to be swooned? Yes you were.
Half an hour and three more exercises machines later, you finally figured out a plan inside your tiny head. You couldn’t just let this chance slip away like the other ones. You were a goddamn strong woman who can pursue her own desires. And you were feeling surprisingly bold after this small encounter, so why not giving it a shot? The worst thing could happen was that you need to change gyms. You could live with that.
So after finally collecting all your courage you possibly could have, you went to the counter, asking for a piece of paper and a pen, quickly writing your phone number and name in large letters.
With a last deep breath, your feet carried you over to the other end of the gym, where the attractive boy was now working hard on the lat pulldown machine. Standing in front of him, you suddenly felt shy again, twiddling with your fingers.
He stopped to greet you again with a bright smile. Without much overthinking, you pressed the small piece of paper in his sweaty hand. He looked up to you with big sparkling eyes as if you should elaborate.
“Just...just you know, if I need anymore advices.” You managed to say, feeling your cheeks warm up once again. Before he could reply anything, you already muttered out a high pitched ‘bye’ and turned around to head towards the changing cabins. You gathered your belongings and left without making a scene or embarrassing you even further. Your whole car ride home was filled with doubtful discussions with yourself.
What you didn’t saw, was his relieved gentle smile after he opened the folded piece of paper, finding your phone number and name on it. Y/N...
So instead of having a shower on top of his priority to do list after going to the gym today, it changed to texting your number with the best feeling of confidence in his system.

Recap:
And for the first half of this year you found yourself falling in love. Falling for this second glance of a man.
So finding out that Izumi Kenji had a partner was a punch to the gut.
Reaching for his hand that summer was a defining moment for you. The way he snatched his hand away from yours would have knocked all the air out of your lungs if you’d had any breath to spare.
Laughter echoes off the sides of buildings as you make your way past food stalls and restaurants. It’s warm. A gentle breeze tussles his hair, different strands catching purple and orange light from the store signs.
There are several things that are begging to hold your attention right now.
A new café to your right is stringing a “Grand Opening” banner across its shop doors. Bike bells ring off in the distance, the wheels gently thrumming against dusty cobblestone. Groups of teenagers snicker as they pass you by, their voices carefree and teasing. Two dogs tread loyally next to their owners on the other side of the street, their claws clicking as their paws hit the pavement.
But even among all of those distractions and details, all you can see is him. The mop of messy hair atop his head. His umber brown eyes. A curious smile.
Izumi Kenji had stolen your heart slowly and carefully; he did so without a balaclava or a disguise to lure you in. And as you meander the downtown area with him, your fondness for him only grows.
Meeting him at that after-work party may have been the best thing that happened to you this year. You were comfortable - in the middle of a bar, talking to a stranger and laughing with him. And who were you to turn down the one good thing life had sent your way.
Although, with how nonexistent your social life was, you would’ve let almost anyone into your social circle. You just deem yourself lucky that it was Kenji who happened to be in your vicinity.
He’d ended up asking for your number at the end of the night - you rattled off the digits faster than you could blink.
“...if you ever need anything, just send me a text.”
It was an outstretched hand of a sentence. A bone thrown to a starving dog. Finally, there was a person you could rely on.
You took his words to heart.
After that night, it was almost unfair how easily he broke down your barriers.
It was Kenji who took you sightseeing through all of Osaka in the Winter months, making sure that you’d mapped out the area so that you were more comfortable when you went exploring on your own. Your snow boots and his became well acquainted.
He’d shown you his favorite eateries and shops, rambling quietly about his favorite pastries and old, dusty memories that came from his time spent in the area.
His jacket made its way to your shoulder when you visibly shuddered from the cold as Winter shifted to Spring. And as Summer approached, you allowed yourself to let your guard down. With distant eyes, you learned about his family and his plans. You wondered if maybe there was a place for you in that future.
Any doubts about this connection you had with him had melted away.
He was your closest friend by far… and who’s to say he couldn’t be more?
You glance to your left, a small smile working its way onto your lips. Kenji’s eyes wander the street, completely lost in thought. His expression is serene under the violet glow of street lights.
And his hand… his hand is achingly close to your own.
Its a position you frequently found yourself in: walking side by side, almost touching, but never quite close enough to grasp at his hand.
You’ve never really seen yourself as someone to make first moves, but this has gone on for too long. And your fingertips are begging you to do something about this distance between you two.
You swallow hard.
Choking back your hesitation, you brush your hand against his.
He doesn’t pull away, only sending you a quick glance. Kenji’s soft smile doesn’t budge, though he does raise an eyebrow at you.
You assume that this is a good sign. He doesn’t seem uncomfortable, the moment feels natural, and this… this could actually work.
You take one more deep breath and gingerly link your fingers with his-
But before you can even blink, Kenji snaps his hand back to his side. His head whips toward you, feet stopping in their tracks.
“What… what are you doing,” he stammers, eyes widening.
You wince. That wasn’t the reaction you were hoping for. Far from it.
“I think that’s-” You glance down at your rejected hand, eyes wide, “-kind of obvious.”
He stares at you, mouth agape. You take a step back, heart dropping. Why would he pull his hand back? Did I do something wrong-
“I’m seeing someone-” He breathes, “-you knew that.”
Like a tree branch splintering after a lightning strike, you feel as though something inside of you has cracked and split.
Your body can’t decide if your blood should turn to ice from shock or if it should succumb to the heat of humiliation rising in your chest. How did you not know this?
And why hadn’t you just asked him first?
That’s what normal people did. If you hadn’t acted based on a silly impulse maybe you would have spoken to him about your relationship with him first… but it’s too late now. And the pressure continues to build up in your stomach until you feel like a balloon on the verge of popping.
“...you knew that… didn’t you?”
Something sharp stabs at your heart.
“I had no idea.” Your reply is flat. Distant.
It twists.
“I- I’m so sorry, I could’ve sworn I’d told you…” He responds softly.
In a tearing motion, it rips back out.
“No. You hadn’t.” You say curtly, eyes glazing over.
You let on to the bitterness welling up in your chest more than you wish you would have… but who could blame you?
Tucking your hands deep into your pants pockets, you try to hold your composure.
Your mouth is uncomfortably dry and your hands are suddenly very sweaty.
What does someone do in a situation like this?
You’d always assumed that this was the type of thing to happen to somebody else. Thinking that feelings were mutual and then being struck with the fact that your “almost-boyfriend” was actually already deep into a relationship. It sounds like something out of a teenage romance novel... but it’s clear that the shame clouding your mind is not secondhand.
Unintentionally or not, Kenji had led you on… and here you are, feeling like you’ve just been publicly gutted.
He doesn’t owe you anything. No, not at all.
If anything, you owe him for all of the kindness he’s extended to you.
But that doesn’t explain everything he’s done for you these past few months.
Paying for meals even though you’d practically fought him for bills at every restaurant you’d visited together. Spending hours together on weekends when you both had work to complete. Meeting his friends, taking the train together on days when your schedules collided, exploring the city and your past with him…
You’d wondered why he hadn’t asked you out yet.
It didn’t make any sense.
Maybe he was confused too?
A thought crosses your mind that maybe he may have been using you as some sort of support system. Maybe you were just let into his life to comfort him through his own relational instability. Were you just Kenji’s escape? Is he just completely unaware?
But now you’re just jumping to conclusions. It might not be anything of the sort. Trying to piece together a story that doesn’t add up in the first place won’t help you at all - at least, not right after such a blatant rejection.
You take another step back, effectively tuning out anything he has to say. The light on his face no longer reflects something inviting; instead, all you can see is the confusion marring his previously peaceful expression.
He’s trying to talk to you, he’s taking steps toward you, he’s even reaching a hand out… but you just can’t. Not with the discomfort in your chest and a thundercloud of tension rumbling above you.
You can’t remember what shitty excuse you’d made to get out of there, but not even 10 minutes after this awkward, messy, fucked up moment, you’re on a train back home.
And everything is numb.
The shuffle and shake of the passenger car is enough to distract you for now.
But the moment you get home - the very second you kick off your shoes - insecurity comes knocking at the door of your mind.
You lay face down on the couch. The room stirs in darkness, gloom sinking into the cracks of the wall and pooling at the corners of your eyes. Because how was this fair? What had you done to deserve this? Was nothing going to be easy for you?
You let yourself cry.
Questions swim through your mind. Fears too. The pain of, once again, being alone exposes itself through heavy tears and spluttering sobs.
So you attempt to bury it all deep down...
As far from the surface as it can go...
But as most things do, these questions and insecurities will resurface.
It’s only a matter of time.
You noticed it from the moment you woke up.
The stiffness in your arms and the churning in your stomach were telltale signs… but as the hours rolled on and the sun sunk lower in the sky, it became more obvious.
Your lungs were fine yesterday, but today they shrink and tighten with every passing minute.
In an attempt to distract yourself, you’ve switched on the TV and turned to Netflix for comfort. It isn’t much, but the modulated noise of a baking show and a warm blanket draped over your lap blocks out some of the dizzying worries in your head.
First date nerves are a thing.
The clammy palms, the jitters, the loss of appetite… you have it all.
You’re well aware that this is a universal experience, so you try to empathize with yourself. There’s no reason to be embarrassed by it. Shame would only drag you deeper into this muddy pit of nerves that you’re so desperately trying to claw your way out of.
But this technically isn’t even a date.
And you’re not about to assume that it’s anything like one.
Just to be safe, you’ve decided that this outing would blandly be categorized as a “sporadic meet up with a stranger.” Your words, not Atsumu’s.
But just because it isn’t technically a date doesn’t mean you can’t be jittery…
You grip the remote in your hand tighter. It accidentally shuts the TV off, but that’s probably for the better. You haven’t gotten ready yet and it’s getting close to 5 pm. Somehow you’d managed to snuggle the day away in your apartment. Again.
Letting out an anxious yawn, you hop up from your nestled position on the couch.
You step into the hallway and make your way to the bathroom to wash your face. As you patter the length of the hall, you finally allow your mind to roam. It immediately hones in on your anxieties like a dog chasing a delightfully peeved squirrel.
Is it pathetic? To be 20 something years old and petrified by something as simple as a dinner date?
Your brain says “no,” but a part of you is whispering out a quiet “yes” in response. Most people would be excited to see someone after being lonely for so long.
So why are you this bothered? What’s with this piercing fragility that makes your hands shake and your skin crawl?
When did you become so… scared? Like you would crumble just by being in the presence of another person?
And then it hits you. Your head plummets into your hands.
Ever since you’d met Atsumu, you haven’t had the mental stamina to think about Izumi Kenji.
Or what he’d done to you. Or how he’d metaphorically pushed you when you were already toeing at the precipice of a cliff. You’d been a step away from falling and breaking under the weight of the past few years, and he’d shattered you in a single night.
So, yes, that would explain the current twisting in your chest. It’s also probably why you’re so worried about Atsumu. Or, at least, it’s one big reason as to why, you conclude.
But, even with this epiphany, you find yourself stepping into the bathroom, wrung dry and physically unsteady. Thinking about Kenji doesn’t make you feel any better.
Your fingers grip the rim of the porcelain sink, eyes fixed on the drain in the center.
You stare at it.
One reminder of him and you were already weary.
The glossiness of the bowl reflects a splotchy, humanesque blob back at you. You swivel the faucet handle, letting warm water coast around the bowl and spiral down the drain. It erases that human-like reflection.
If only it could wash away your problems. Now that’d be something to write home about.
The cool of the tile beneath your feet and a splash of warm water on your face is a welcome distraction… but short-lived. The water drips off of your face. You blindly feel around for a fresh towel and, after laying your hands on one, you gently pat your face down.
Blinking your eyes open, you stand up straight.
As you do, you find yourself studying a much clearer reflection than the blurry face in the sink bowl. Sunken features bore into you from the bathroom mirror. You sigh and turn to open up a medicine cabinet to grab a few facial products, applying them one-by-one.
If you do happen to crash and burn tonight, you figure you might as well look damn good in the process. Skincare would help with that.
But before you can further sink into the idea that tonight might turn into another nightmarish scenario, a friendly face, someone sunny and charming, enters your mind.
The picture Atsumu’s wavy hair and that smug smile of his. While the rest of his face is a little fuzzy in your mind, you vividly remember how his mouth quirk upwards and the electric buzz you felt from the sheer warmth of his eyes.
Atsumu has been on your mind a lot these days. And, as much as it’s been a distraction, it’s also been a welcome mental detour.
Somehow, the very thought of him coaxes your own lips to relax into a smile. You sigh, tilting your head back in defeat. So this is what 3 years of loneliness can do to a person - how embarrassing.
But you can’t deny that he gives you something to look forward to - an emotion you can’t quite put your finger on. You two share a connection; there’s some common ground that hasn’t been dug up just yet. And, for whatever it’s worth, you want to keep digging until you figure it out.
As you smooth a moisturizer over your skin, you decide that you’ll wear something nice tonight. Maybe you’ll pick out an outfit you haven’t worn before and do your best to drown your shaky hands in the fabric of a long-sleeved shirt. If it goes well, maybe you’ll have found someone who actually likes you.
If it doesn’t work out, you can just drive back home and forget he ever existed. Simple as that.
But...
You’d like to think that Atsumu could be just as sweet as he seems; assuming the worst about him would get you nowhere.
You continue to repeat that to yourself before you leave. That all you can do is hope it goes well.
Nothing more, nothing less.
You rest your foot firmly on the brake and switch the gearshift so that your car is in park. You rub your eyes and double-check the location on your phone’s GPS. Back at your apartment, it looked like you would be arriving at a café near the park… but you’re not so sure anymore.
Did… did Atsumu really send you here?
You never entertained the idea of him being a prankster… but if this was, perhaps, a practical joke? Well, you’re not above calling him and telling him to “fuck off.” There’s nothing stopping you from driving away and blocking his number right now.
Scrolling through the map application, you notice that you’re relatively close to several restaurants, so there is that. He’d promised you dinner and there’s an abundance of food within walking distance.
But you weren’t expecting to pull up to such a secluded location. You shiver in your seat and grip the steering wheel. Does he realize just how scary it is to meet someone at a random place like this?
Whipping out your phone, you tap a quick message containing something along the lines of “why the hell did you send me to a park.” Your therapist would probably give you a high-five for being so straightforward.
You hit send and sink into your chair.
A brief glance out your car window helps to settle your frayed nerves just a hair.
It’s not quite as empty as you thought it was. The area is just… calm. Many couples stroll along the main path, hand-in-hand. Others are sat on picnic blankets, tucking their toes into the cool grass and chattering away.
And, most comfortingly of all, it’s still bright outside.
You thank the sun that it still rests above the horizon, drenching the trees tops and green grass with deep-honey hues. People and daylight mean safety. You’ve had to learn that after living alone for so long.
A text notification pings on your phone only seconds after messaging him.
You’ll give him some credit. Atsumu is a timely texter. You’ve found yourself in more real-time texting conversations with him than almost anyone else you’ve met in Osaka. And it’s been how long since you met him? A few weeks? A month?
Atsumu’s text reassures you that you’re not at the wrong place.
At least the park was intentional, you nod to yourself. You’re doing your best to trust that he wouldn’t take you somewhere that would make you uncomfortable.
Another text informs you that he’s already seated on a bench near where you parked.
Your heart skips a beat and your head jolts upward, scanning the area. A hand also shoots up to clutch at your chest, gripping the fabric of your top.
Yep. You’re still jumpy.
But this time, the shaky hands and pounding nerves are rooted in restlessness instead of fear… and maybe a little bit of excitement?
Suddenly, the park is far less frightening.
You step out of the car, wallet and keys in one hand, and smooth out your outfit with your free hand. The wind nips at you through the fabric of your clothes, but with the sunshine painting your skin, it isn’t too bad.
Maybe bringing a coat would’ve been wiser than relying on this sweater to keep you warm… but it’s too late to think about that now.
Your eyes dart around and you trod through the grass and onto a graveled pathway. It crunches satisfyingly underneath your feet, but you can’t enjoy it when you’re so intent on finding him. With a few short strides, you’re quick to spot the back of someone’s head. A familiar head of blonde waves shines golden thanks to the setting sun.
You’re almost entirely sure it’s Atsumu.
And as if he had sensed your presence, the man in question tilts a glance over his shoulder.
His face is blank until he catches your eye.
An easy grin, one brighter than the stars, bursts into existence.
For someone so conventionally attractive, he sure looks excited to see little ole you. Raising your hand, you wave and send him a shy smile back.
He’s quick to jump to his feet and as he does, you’re quickly reminded of just how tall he is. Atsumu’s head matches the height of several tree branches. It makes you think that he’s probably walked into a number of things. Door headers, branches, signs that are hung a couple of inches too low… you’re sure he’s learned to duck and dodge over the years.
You wish you could ask him about that.
You blink.
That’s right. You can ask him about that - you’ll do that later, though.
“Hey there.” He chuckles.
His voice… it’s huskier than you’d remembered.
You spoke with him over the phone just yesterday to confirm that tonight was still happening, so why was his voice giving you chills now? It’s deep and smooth and, without the static from the phone audio, it’s actually kind of sexy.
Okay, you’ve got to calm down.
“Hi,” you reply sweetly, tilting your head.
Should you hug him? Just keep standing there? Hopefully, he’s better at filling awkward silence than you are. You’re not bad at handling social situations, but it seems safer to wait for his cues.
Atsumu keeps his hands in his pockets, “Long time, no see.”
It’s phrased as if you were both old friends reuniting after years of distance. It kind of feels that way too.
“I don’t actually think it’s been that long.” You raise an eyebrow, keeping a straight face.
“It’sa turn of phrase, sweetheart.”
Sweetheart.
That word sounds so easy on his tongue, damn it.
A few beats pass… and both of you break into grins once again.
But before you can respond, and much to your confusion, Atsumu spins on his feels to face the pathway. The pebbles under his feet shift as he takes a few steps forward.
He turns his head to catch your eye, “Well? C’mon then, let’s walk and talk,” and juts an arm out.
You stare at him for a moment, confused.
“Are ya gonna leave me hangin’? Atsumu tilts his head back, a coy smile on his lips as though whatever he’s trying to do is ridiculously obvious.
After a few moments of deep contemplation, realization dawns over your features. He’s extending his elbow out… for you? To hold onto?
Oh.
With a slight flush, you step forth and link arms with him. He grins down at you, perfectly resembling a fox you saw in a National Geographic magazine last week. This is a lot closer than you’d anticipated on getting with him; not that you’re complaining.
Although, for someone you’ve only met twice, you feel like you’ve known him for years.
The few phone calls and those text conversations have given you some insight into his life, but they don’t explain why you two click so well in person. He’s illogically familiar.
You decide not to question the closeness and instead choose to spark a conversation.
That should be easy enough; after all, he’d promised you dinner, and you were given directions to a park - you’re anything but questionless.
You lean into his side slightly and break the silence, “You smell good.”
Considering he’s crossed that line with you already, you aren’t too worried about saying it back to him.
“Thanks, I showered.” He smiles and shrugs as if to brush off your compliment, but you swear you see a fleeting blush on his cheeks.
“Thank God.” You sigh in mock relief, relaxing your shoulders.
He squints, clicking his tongue, “Okay, no need to tease. At least get to know a guy first,” but his voice is void of offense.
“So if I tease you, you won’t take me to dinner?” A curious tone rings in your voice.
“Oh, I will even if ya do. Where do ya think we’re walkin’ to?”
You snort, “Hopefully a restaurant?”
“Bull’s eye.” He winks.
Atsumu looks down at you and you can’t help but smile up at him. Your nerves had melted away like a popsicle under a blazing summer sun; all that’s left is a sweet, melty feeling that has you feeling a little too comfortable.
Maybe you shouldn’t be so trusting. Protecting yourself has been your number one goal since Kenji let you down…
But that doesn’t mean you can’t laugh or get to know Atsumu.
It just means you need to keep your expectations in check. This may seem like a date, but until he says something, you won’t jump to conclusions. In the meantime, you just need to keep talking. Enjoy it while it lasts and laugh a little.
You nudge his side, “By the way…”
“Hm?”
“What’s with bringing me to a park?”
You’ve been dying to hear this explanation since you arrived. Sure, the atmosphere is perfect; fall weather is notorious for pleasant walks and colorful leaves. However, you’d like to hear his reasoning.
“I thought we could get to know each other better before stuffin’ our faces.”
You make a face, “Well, doesn’t that sound lovely. You sure have a way with words.”
Atsumu is nothing if not blunt.
He pouts, eyes narrowing, “You gonna make fun of the way I talk now? I’ll have you know, I’ve been mocked enough to last me a life time. I ain’t all that sensitive anymore.”
You laugh and subconsciously tighten your hold on his arm.
“Alright Mr. Not Sensitive, I won’t make fun of you anymore.”
If you were paying attention to his face, you might’ve seen another flush of pink… but your eyes are squinting from the sun and Atsumu is sure to pull himself together before you can notice it.
“But I do have some important questions for you,” You begin.
Those words are sure to spark fear into anybody. This is confirmed when his arm stiffens ever so slightly and your eyes crinkle in mischief.
He swallows, “Yeah, go for it.”
“Favorite color?”
Atsumu’s eyes flick down to yours, squinting. They seem to say, “important, my ass.”
He instantly loosens, “Easy. Red.” Confidence is clear in his tone.
You nod. You don’t have to know him well to know that the answer suits him. Atsumu is fiery and he’s burned bright in your mind since you met him. If anyone should be allowed to like red, it’s him.
“Favorite food?”
“Mmm…” He furrows his brows in deliberation, “ I gotta say fatty tuna. But my brother makes some killer onigiri, though. I think that’s a close second.”
Your brows shoot up, eyes widening. He’d never mentioned anything about his family before this.
“You have a brother?” You press, leaning in to study his face while trying not to trip over your own two feet.
“Technically, a twin. But I’m the older one...” He huffs, “...and the better lookin’ one.”
Your jaw drops. “I can’t believe you hadn’t mentioned him before this!”
As an only child, you can only imagine what it’d be like to have a sibling, much less a twin.
“Well,” Atsumu rolls his eyes at you, “He’s alright…”
It looks like he’s about to change the subject, but one glance at your face is all it takes for him to realize that you want to hear more. Your eyes are sparkling. Full of vibrant curiosity… how could he stop now?
You’re actually interested in him.
“We’re really close actually,” Atsumu clears his throat, straightening up a little. “I mean, he isn’t like me at all. He’s real’ calm in comparison. A great cook. Some people say he’s handsome - but he got the looks from me, y’know?”
You roll your eyes, keeping in stride with him. “Yeah, yeah, keep going.”
“He’s good with the ladies, smart, athletic...” He rambles on. “If he’d just slow down a little, he would probably be married by now...”
You just listen, fully invested in his words.
It’s nice to hear about family - you haven’t seen your’s in a long time.
The fondness in Atsumu’s expression seeps through his abbreviated words.
He looks almost pained as he compliments his twin and amusement flickers in your eyes as you watch it all unfold. You hadn’t asked for a dating profile description of his brother, but you’re not about to shut him up.
“I bet you’d like him. Not as much as you’d like me, of course,” he smirks and your chest tightens.
The butterflies you’d thought you’d left back in highschool seem to have dusted themselves off and started fluttering again.
“But, yeah. He’s a good guy.”
Atsumu’s free hand then runs through his hair, pushing the waves back. You can see a sudden onset of nerves on his face. He’s quick to hide it though.
“And, uh, just so you know… he may or may not own the restaurant I’m taking you to tonight.”
That’s enough for you plant your feet in place. Atsumu stops as well.
He’s… taking you to his brother’s restaurant.
You gaze up at him, at a loss for words.
Is his brother going to be there? I mean, it is his place. But meeting his family? Out of the blue, like this? It’s all out of order.
You can’t help but wonder if he’s ever going to give your racing heart a chance to settle.
“Is that too much?” Atsumu is quick to cut in. His voice isn’t gentle… but even with it’s roughness, you can hear something that resembles concern.
“A- ah, no! It’s fine!” You reassure him, “I… I’m happy to go.”
His shoulders drop down again and so do yours.
There’s no point in getting worked up about it. But it’s becoming clear that Atsumu isn’t a very conventional person. Nor is he daunted by sporadic plans. Next time, you’ll ask for a point-by-point itinerary, just to be safe.
Atsumu reveals the name of the restaurant, “Onigiri Miya,” and you find yourself asking more family-related questions as you two dawdle down the pathway…
Which naturally leads to conversations about high-school.
It turns out that he and his twin were on a volleyball team together. Which makes sense. He definitely has the muscle, the height, and the spunk to be an athlete.
You know shit about the sport, but that doesn’t mean you don’t see the gleam in his eyes when he rattles off a story about one of his old games. It’s been a long time since you last listened to someone speak about something so passionately.
But there’s even more.
You hear mentions of many boys’ names.
There’s his brother, Osamu; he mentions their little spats and occasional fist fights. Although he makes sure to clarify that they’re both a lot more level headed nowadays. Next is Atsumu’s upperclassman, Kita; he’s someone Atsumu respects and fears with every inch of his being. Then there’s Suna, Omimi, Aran, and… too many others to count.
Games and nationals and several terms you can’t quite grasp swim through your head as you re-live some of Atsumu’s own memories with him.
His high-school years sound exciting, bright, and funny. Of course, those experiences would create the charming mess that is Atsumu Miya.
After padding under draping treetops, you both finally make it out of the park and onto the sidewalks.
Restaurants and small shops line the streets and pedestrians cross in groups across the narrow roads. At this point, the sun is loosing its shine, sinking beneath the trees’ branches and ever-darkening buildings. But you, with your phone in your pocket and your arm in his, feel safe.
Atsumu’s effortlessness and his blunt way of speaking really made for easy conversation.
But before you can ask him if he still plays volleyball, you find yourself standing in front of a small, bright storefront: “Onigiri Miya.” The words are plastered on a wooden board in white, chalk paint. It’s sleek and cute - if you’d stumbled upon the shop before this, you’d have walked in of your volition.
“I’m thinkin’ I just talked your ear off the whole way here.” Atsumu sighs apologetically.
You shrug, “I guess that just means I’m a good listener.”
In all honestly, you’re glad he rambled. It got rid of your restlessness and calmed your racing thoughts.
He unlinks your arm from his and your side is now exposed to the cold air. It only just hits you how physical that walk had been. Even without a coat, having him at your side had kept you warm and cozy.
How long has it been since you were comfortably side-by-side with someone? It’s been months since you’d been around Kenji… years since you last slept with someone you actually liked… but when was the last time you held a hand or wrapped your arm around someone else’s?
Atsumu’s words cut into your thoughts, “You’re easy to talk to, but I wanna hear more about you when we get inside.”
And he’s holding the door open for you, one hand clasped around the handle and the other tucked casually into his pocket. You thank him… he didn’t give you the impression of being “gentlemanly” or whatever that word meant, but you find the gesture to be sweet.
As you step inside the small restaurant, your senses are overtaken by the smell of freshly cooked rice and an explosion of delicious seasonings. There are bar stools open at the front counter and metal chairs surrounding worn-down wooden tables. The atmosphere is homely and diner-like; as though, no matter how often you actually visited, you would be treated as a regular.
Someone calls out from the back, “C’mon in, I cleared the place out for y’all.”
The voice resembles Atsumu’s style of speech; gruff and straight to the point… but a little smoother. Then you realize what that voice had actually said. There’s nobody else here.
“Alright, we’ll make ourselves at home then. I can take your-”
He scans you for a jacket… that doesn’t exist.
“You didn’t bring a coat.” He says flatly.
You glance down at your outfit, grasping the edge of your sweater and feathering a thumb over its seam.
“I forgot one.” You admit, looking back up to him, “Why? Is that a problem?”
“Nah, I was just gonna offer to take it.”
You hadn’t noticed what he’d been wearing before this, but now that you’re under the soft lighting of the restaurant, you realize he’s dressed up a little.
Atsumu removes a short, tan coat and places it onto the back of a chair. A black turtleneck sweater is revealed underneath. The fabric outlines his chest and arms in the most unfair way while the dark color pleasantly contrasts his lighter skin tone.
How hadn’t you noticed how gut-wrenchingly attractive he was before this?
With how fast things were moving and how comfortable you felt talking to him, you must’ve conveniently glossed over this fact. It’s not like you’d planned on getting to know him.
But now that you do? Well, it doesn’t hurt that he basically has the body of Chris Hemsworth. Atsumu’s definitely not some Walmart version of him though - this boy deserves his own brand of attractiveness.
You swallow hard as your eyes trail his body.
“Like whatcha see?”
You startle, shuffling backward. If you weren’t already out of your element, you sure are now. Caught red-handed (red-eyed?) staring at your not-date.
“Awh, c’mon I’m joking - take a seat,” Atsumu pulls a chair out for you, cringing when it lets out a shrill squeak on the floor. The sound rings through the air and you find yourself laughing.
In a swift motion, you jump up and onto the chair.
He slides the chair back toward the bar counter, except this time you both expect the screeching of the chair’s legs. It’s worse than nails on a chalkboard, but it’s perfect for loosening up any tightness in the airspace. This time, it’s his turn to chuckle.
He mutters out a quick, “Sorry,” but you just shake your head, amused.
Snagging his own chair, and this time lifting it off of the ground to avoid bursting another eardrum, Atsumu slides up next to you.
You lean on the counter, a hand propping up your cheek. “That was very smooth, Atsumu.”
“Thanks,” he rolls his eyes, “I try.”
“‘Tsumu? Smooth? Yeah, right,” that same voice travels from the kitchen to the front of the store.
Footsteps are soon to follow it and you’re greeted by Chris Hemsworth 2.0. Maybe you should refer to him as Liam Hemsworth? Nope, Osamu, you quickly decide, is also his own genre of attractive.
Although Osamu is dressed in a simple, black “Onigiri Miya” t-shirt and cap, he could probably be a Calvin Klein model. For someone who owns a restaurant, his muscle tone is absolute perfection - these brothers are really something.
And their resemblance of each other, though twins, is almost uncanny. You thank some unknown force that hair-dye exists, because if you saw them from a distance, you may not be able to tell them apart.
“Ah, shaddup. You’re just sayin’ that cuz you’re jealous,” the blonde snorts.
“Jealous of what? Your shit attempts at flirtin’?”
“That’s below the belt, ‘Samu. Don’t be such an ass.”
‘Tsumu? ‘Samu? That’s cute, you chuckle to yourself. Of course, these guys would have nicknames for each other. It was common sense.
You sit back as they bicker, wondering who must’ve raised these 6-foot chaotic giants. You’d love to meet them just to give them a medal and a bouquet of flowers for putting up with them. They must’ve dealt with so much bullshit.
“I could say the same to you. Ya haven’t properly introduced me yet.” He nods his head toward you, cool-grey eyes warming up when they meet yours.
Your lips quirk into a smile and before you know it, you’ve introduced yourself.
He copies your smile, though it’s much softer than your own, and begins his own little introduction; although you’re sure that, with all the information Atsumu has already listed off to you, you don’t really need one.
“I’m Miya Osamu, but that’s probably obvious by now,” he adjusts his cap, “Callin’ me Miya would be confusin’ for all of us, so just Osamu’s fine.”
He’s polite and carries himself confidently, but his voice is a little softer than Atsumu’s. Or, it is when he’s speaking to you. There’s a brotherly gentleness to his tone and it relaxes you instantly.
“Please keep in mind that I’m the better twin,” Atsumu adds, shooting daggers at his brother.
Osamu shoots them right back, but you don’t fail to notice the playful fondness behind their eyes. You can almost picture them as kids, with band-aids on their knees and mud on their clothes. They make it seem like being twins meant having a built-in best friend.
Their closeness is overwhelming.
There’s a warmth in the atmosphere, and you’re positive that it’s not just because something’s cooking in the kitchen. It feels special, just being allowed to sit and watch them banter.
And the fact that Atsumu is sharing this with you?
Well, you’re counting yourself very lucky to be here right now.

YOUR POV
The weather wasn’t always predictable. On days that started with autumn sunshine and a lovely breeze, no one could really see the storm coming. Not even you, as you made your way deep into the forest to pick berries and herbs. You had only been surrounded by the tall trees for a few lonely hours, as the sunshine turned into darkness and rain began to pour from the skies.
Birds flew away from the clouds, and you had to assume that a thunderstorm was coming, even though you saw the light from the full moon shine through the cracks in the clouds. The only thing you could do now was to seek shelter, which wasn’t easy when you were far away from the town and the safety of your own home.
“Fuck,” You cursed as you felt the rain soaking through your coat, cold droplets running down your spine, leaving shivers behind its trail. Moments later, you heard the first brawl of thunder, roaring loudly throughout the land. You didn’t see where the lightning struck, but based on the volume of it, you had to assume it was close -- too close.
You had to push branches and twigs out of your way as you made your way through the narrow pathway. It was incredibly dark, so it was hard to see your surroundings. The rain and thunder were loud and it made your ears hurt. The weather had changed to fast that it was almost unreal, and now you were cold and wet which was beyond annoying.
You would be lucky if you didn’t get struck by lightning.
After a while, you heard a cracking sound, and you caught a shadowy figure in the corner of your eye. As if you met a brick wall, you stopped and held your breath. With narrowed eyes, you scanned the dark surroundings.
“Hello?” You called out, hoping that your voice didn’t give away just how frightened you were. It was odd how meeting other people in the woods could be so scary.
When you didn’t get an answer, you decided to take a few steps forward. That’s when you heard another pair of footsteps, coming closer to you. Whoever it was, they didn’t want to make their presence clear, and that was very suspicious to you.
Whoever it was must’ve had ill intentions, which became awfully clear when they ran towards you. You only saw it for a short moment and struggled to see any human signs. As if you weren’t terrified enough when you realized you were being chased, you now feared that it wasn’t even human.
Without any hesitation, you dropped your basket on the ground and took off into a sprint. Adrenaline kicked into your system and your only thought was to get away from that stranger as fast as you could. You didn’t even want to imagine what would happen if you slipped and fell right into their grasp.
Was it an animal? Why did it run like a human?
“Help!” You cried out, hoping that perhaps someone could hear you. It was unlikely, but you were stranded and absolutely helpless.
The strange creature was coming closer and closer to you.
You didn’t know if it had only been a few seconds, or minutes, but you were exhausted. Your heart was beating all the way in your throat, and every breath you took of the cold rainy air made your throat hurt. Eventually, the worst thing that could’ve happened happened.
As you stared at each other, you couldn’t even breathe. For a moment, you were paralyzed by fear as you realized that whatever had caught you looked like a werewolf. It dug its sharp claws into your arms, which made you panic. You had to fight!
Your foot tangled with a plant on the ground, and you felt your balance go way off. Just like that, your body slammed against the muddy forest ground hard and painfully. Before you could even get a chance to get up, you were caught.
The creature leapt on top of you, and you could finally see what it was. Lightning illuminated the sky and you saw its face clearly. To your horror, it was hairy and beast-like. It had a snout, and rows of sharp and pointy teeth, coated with drool. What frightened you the most were the bright yellow eyes that bore holes into your skull.
With nothing to lose, you tried to kick it off you, but to no avail. The creature growled angrily and opened its mouth. You let out another horrified scream as you feared the worst.
But it didn’t bite you.
The creature froze as well and it was staring at something that you couldn’t see. Then as fast as it had appeared, it let go of you and ran off into the forest. Your body was shaking in terror and you couldn’t believe what had happened. What had possibly scared it away?
You sat up from the cold ground and looked around, hoping to see who had saved you. At first, you couldn’t see anything at all. Tears blurred your vision and it was dark. Then someone stepped out of the shadows, someone that at least resembled a human, to your luck.
A tall, dark-haired man stood in front of you. He had pale skin, and that contrasted with his dark clothes. Something about him was very charming, welcoming. You felt safe in his presence.
“Thank you,” You barely got the words out of your mouth.
The stranger looked at the wounds on your arms. Even though your thick coat, he noticed the blood. “Come with me. I live nearby.”
He smiled ever so slightly as he walked closer to you, “We shouldn’t stick around. It might return,” He let you know and he was oddly calm about it. Almost like the sight of a werewolf was anything but strange.
“We’re in the middle of nowhere,” You remembered. The closest houses were far away, at least the ones that you knew of.
Did he live in the middle of the deep and dark woods?
You realized that you didn’t have any better options, so you decided to trust him. Just like that, the two of you were on your way. You stuck close to him because you were still terrified, and he was the only thing that made you feel even a little bit better.
It took you a while to calm down from it all. The initial shock faded and you could actually think about it. What you had seen was absurd it and made you sick to think how close to death you had been. How did this stranger make the creature run away? It was something you simply couldn’t understand.
“What is your name?” He asked you, interrupting your thoughts. You didn’t mind it.
“I’m Y/N,” You answered him politely, wiping your face from tears and dirt, “and you?”
He didn’t look at you as he answered, “You can call me Loki.”
It turned out that Loki had told you the truth. As bizarre as it was, he had a house in the middle of nowhere. It looked like a mansion, with its black iron gates, impressive garden and the sheer size of the building. It even had a tower that seemed to have one floor more than the rest of the house. You wondered if he lived there all alone, and why.
Kindly, he invited you inside where you could finally rest your tense body and feel safe from the monster that had tried to eat you earlier. You were certain of it.
The inside of the house was just as impressive as it was outside. You walked in to see a large spiral staircase to the upper floor, large paintings on the walls with golden frames and furniture that looked old yet fancy and expensive. Whoever this Loki was, he sure had a good taste in the finer things in life.
He was lighting up the fireplace so you could warm yourself.
“Thank you, again,” You felt the need to thank him. He had to know how grateful you were. If it wasn’t for him, you’d be long gone already. And now he was treating you as a guest as if he hadn’t done enough already.
As the two of you sat by the fireplace, he offered to take your coat off. He hung it by the fireplace so it would dry faster. That’s when you first saw your arm wounds. The blood had spread all over the sleeves of your white shirt, and you saw rips that were left by the massive claws. Loki stared at the wounds for a while, almost strangely. You brushed it off, thinking that he didn’t like the sight of blood too much.
“No worries, love. I couldn’t just leave you there by yourself, now could I?”
You had only just met him, but the pet name made your heart flutter. You got a better look at him and noticed how charming he really was. Not only was he the equivalent of a prince, but he was also incredibly nice to you. It was hard not to like him.
He returned to the couch you were sat on and inspected the wounds. The blood certainly made it look worse than it really was. It didn’t hurt too much and you realized it was mostly a bunch of surface scratches.
“Does it hurt?” Loki wondered, never taking his eyes off your bloody wound.
“Not really. I’ll be fine,” You reassured him. The last thing you wanted was to bother him with your worries and pain right now.
Nevertheless, Loki rolled up your sleeve to reveal the wound on your left arm. His cool finger traced your skin, and you had to be lying if you said you didn’t like his touch. Something about him was so captivating. You didn’t even know him but you felt like you could do anything for him. It was strange, and you didn’t understand it.
He pulled his finger back and stared at your blood that was on his skin. After a while, it got slightly stranger.
Loki seemed to realize that too as he stood up. “I’ll be right back.”
He walked away, leaving you alone to warm up by the fireplace. You didn’t think too much of it.
As Loki returned, you felt much better already. He was holding a small box in his large hands. He opened it and you saw needles, cotton, and all things you would need to stitch someone up. “I am running you a bath. By the time I’m done with you, it should be ready.”
That’s what took him so long. Hearing that made your heart swell and you were moved by his kindness. “Thank you, that’s really nice of you.”
“Of course,” Loki smiled and looked right into your eyes. Those eyes of his were captivating. You looked into them and couldn’t look away, but you didn’t want to look away either. Why did he have such an effect on you?
Before you got lost in his eyes, he looked away and began to attend to your wound. “This might sting a little bit,” He explained as he doused a cotton ball in a clear liquid. Next thing you knew, he pressed it on your wounds and it burned like fire. You bit your lips together and tried to ignore the pain.
“Are you okay?” Loki wondered, sensing that you were in pain.
“I’m good,” You reassured him through gritted teeth.
A few more seconds passed and he was done, throwing the bloody cotton ball into the fireplace. “You’re lucky, Y/N,” He explained mysteriously.
“What do you mean?”
Loki was focused on fixing you up, but he continued speaking, “Do you know what attacked you?”
You had your suspicions, but you were afraid you’d sound stupid if you told him. “I’m not sure,” you had to tell him.
Loki moved onto your other arm and you knew he was going to clean the wound, which would hurt again. Just as he pressed the cotton ball against the wound and you hissed in pain, he continued, “That was a werewolf.”
Hearing him say that was almost relieving. Either both of you were mad, or you had seen right. The relief was quickly replaced by fear. It wasn’t very reassuring to know that they existed.
“How did you make it run away?” You wanted to know. To you, Loki didn’t look like a threat. At least not to a strong beast like the werewolf. It just didn’t make sense to you how it ran away with its tail between its legs once Loki appeared -- seemingly out of nowhere.
He continued rubbing the cotton ball around your wound, cleaning up the dried blood. “I don’t think you would believe me if I told you.”
You just talked about the existence of werewolves, yet he didn’t think you would trust him?
“Try me,” You encouraged him to tell you the truth.
Silently, Loki finished his work and threw the other cotton ball into the fireplace as well, watching how it burned away.
You were afraid you had been rude. Before you could try to apologize, he sighed, “I think the bath is ready. We can talk after you’re done.”
That was good enough for you.
During the time you were alone in the lavish bathroom, soaking in the warm bath that smelled like flowers, you couldn’t stop thinking about Loki. Why was he so mysterious? Why was he being so nice to you? It didn’t make sense. Many people would’ve stopped helping you after chasing the werewolf away. Just the thought of the werewolf made your head spin.
It was much better to think about Loki. The tall, dark-haired stranger had certainly swept you off your feet. Each time you looked at him, you felt an invisible force trying to push you closer to him. It was absurd since you had met him that day. But somehow, it also made sense.
You were done with your bath and you wrapped yourself in robes that he had given to you. Your clothes were drying and after all, wearing some silky robes in a beautiful mansion wasn’t so bad.
But you didn’t see Loki’s reflection.
Someone was playing the piano, which was the first thing you noticed when you walked out of the bathroom. With quiet steps, you walked towards the staircase, and you saw Loki. He was playing the grand piano downstairs, by the staircase. It was a familiar tune, but you couldn’t quite put your finger on it. Nevertheless, it was elegant and he played it beautifully. For a moment, you stood there and adored the music he created. It filled the otherwise silent mansion perfectly.
As you stood there and adored him, you saw a huge mirror on the wall, facing the piano. You saw the flames from the fireplace in the reflection, the beginning of the staircase and the piano.
At first, you thought it was the angle. But then you realized that you should’ve been able to see him. You blinked a few times and looked closer, but his reflection simply didn’t exist. By now, he had stopped playing the piano, and to your horror, he was looking at you.
Suddenly, you didn’t feel safe anymore, and your poor heart sank to the bottom of your stomach.
“Do not be afraid, pet. If I wanted to hurt you, you wouldn’t be standing there,” Loki broke the silence between the two of you.
Although you were afraid, you realized that he had a good point.
“What are you?” You had to know. You felt trapped as you stood upstairs. He blocked the way to the front door. Then you realized that if you would run, he would probably catch you nevertheless.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Loki wondered, standing up from the chair by the piano and spreading his arms in a dramatic gesture.
You remembered how odd he was when he saw your blood, how he had just stared at it for a while. He didn’t have a reflection. He lived alone, in the middle of nowhere. His presence had scared the werewolf away.
You put all the pieces together and it all made sense. Shivers ran down your spine like cold daggers against your skin, and your knees felt weak. “You’re a vampire,” You stated, but it sounded more like a question.
A proud smile decorated his face when he heard that. “Very good, Y/N.”
This couldn’t be happening.
First, a werewolf attacked you and now you were facing a vampire, in his own home. You were afraid, but another part of you...wasn’t. You felt slightly excited, as wrong as it was.
“Are you afraid of me?” Loki wondered and slowly made his way up the stairs.
Run! Run away!
Your mind was screaming at you to run away from the blood-sucking creature, but you didn’t. You just stood there, trying to remain as calm as possible as he got closer and closer. By the time he reached the final step, you could hear your heartbeat ringing in your ears.
“Answer me,” Loki wanted to know if you feared him. He stood right in front of you and took your shaking hand into his own. His skin was cool, like a window on a rainy day. It was oddly comforting.
“A little bit,” You were honest. You knew you were supposed to be terrified, but when you looked into his eyes, you felt an odd sense of calm.
You were afraid, but you also enjoyed it. It didn’t make any sense to you, but you didn’t mind. Loki’s presence somehow made you feel alive, but you weren’t going to tell him that. Right?
It seemed like Loki already knew that. Judging by the smirk on his face, and the look in his pretty eyes, he knew. Could he read your mind or was he just that good at reading people?
“I don’t know,” You murmured. A part of you knew it already. You knew you couldn’t outrun him, but you also didn’t want to run. Even if you had decided to run, you knew that a part of you wanted to be caught.
“Why didn’t you run?” Loki wondered.
He brushed his fingers against your cheek and instinctively your body leaned against his touch ever so slightly. It almost felt like you were in a trance, but you didn’t resist it at all.
“I think you do,” Loki raised his eyebrows and traced his fingers along your jaw, then your neck. He could feel your racing pulse against his fingertips, feel the warm blood rushing in your veins.
Having a vampire toy with your neck like that was intimidating. Was he going to bite you?
“W-what are you going to do to me?” You dared to question him.
Loki leaned closer to your body, and you felt your breath hitch in your throat. He was so close that you could smell his cologne. His mouth was so close to your ear and you realized that he wasn’t breathing. “Nothing too bad, love. Nothing you wouldn’t want to be done to you,” He answered quietly. His voice was so smooth, it made your body weak.
His other hand let go of your hand that was no longer shaking, and he grabbed you by your waist. Your body melted against his and your fear was quickly replaced by something much stronger, a desire you never knew you had before. Perhaps it was wicked, but you felt a burning need to be touched by him.
“You smell divine,” Loki purred against your skin, holding himself back so he wouldn’t bite you just yet. It was so tempting. If he wanted to, he could suck you dry right then and there, but he didn’t. Loki wanted to savour the moment, to play with you as a cat would play with is prey. “I bet you taste marvellous,” He continued.
The tall double doors to the master bedroom opened loudly, slamming against the walls and the two of you made your way inside. Loki had a tight grip on you and he didn’t let go until you were on the huge king-sized bed, resting against the pillows. Loki stood by the edge of the bed and he looked at you, taking in the sight of your beauty. He adored the way you lied there, looking at him with a thrilled smile on your face. To him, you looked like a goddess and he couldn’t wait to break you, to taste you.
His words made you feel warm inside. This much attention from someone you barely knew was fun. You knew this was dangerous, but you didn’t care. Right now, all that mattered was him and the way he made you feel. “Why don’t you have a taste?” You wondered, which was probably the last thing he had expected to hear. Most mortals were scared to death when they were faced with a vampire, but you weren’t.
And Loki relished that. He knew he had done the right thing when he saved you from the forest.
Your breath was heavy and you began to grow impatient. It felt like your body was on fire and only he could make it better. Hoping to lure him to you, you grabbed the tie around your waist that kept the robe around your otherwise naked body. Slowly, you tugged it and untied the loose knot, which didn’t go unseen by Loki. He watched your every move so intensely, surely not missing anything.
“You’re much naughtier than I had anticipated, Y/N,” He admitted. You noticed that his voice was deeper now, and it made you tremble to your core.
Loki wasn’t any less excited than you were. He pushed his body closer to yours and then you felt it, his cock was hard and it was pushed right against your body. A moan escaped your lips, blending into your heated kiss.
You opened the robe slowly, just enough to show the curve of your breasts, the skin on your stomach and your thigh. Just enough so he’d catch the bait.
To your luck, Loki joined you on the bed and he wasn’t shy about it. He yanked the robe away, exposing your body to him like a gift wrapped in wrapping paper. The weight of his body on yours trapped you, but in the very best way. Your eyes met and finally, his teasing touch turned into something more. Loki captured your lips into his, and at that moment, you almost forgot that he was a vampire. The kiss was passionate and harsh, but lovely nevertheless. You felt as if you could spend the rest of your days like this.
You couldn’t help yourself when you bucked your hips against him, trying to gain some friction. Loki growled quietly, which was like music to your ears. How did he sound so hot when he did that?
He moved his lips to your jaw, peppering kisses on your skin and slowly moving towards your neck. Another moan left your lips when he found your sweet spot. “You like that?” Loki chuckled darkly and kissed the same spot again, making you take a shaky breath to collect yourself.
“Yes..” You had to admit it, yearning for his touch again, and again, and again.
Loki’s cold hand had been tracing patterns on your skin, and now he cupped your breast. His thumb ran over your hardening nipple in a teasing manner and he didn’t hesitate to squeeze you properly. You arched your back and gave him better access to devour your neck. His lips felt like heaven against your needy body.
“Loki,” You mewled his name, needing him to do more. You held onto his broad shoulders with your trembling fingers. By now, you were so aroused and touch starved that your body was overwhelmed, which resulted in you shaking in anticipation.
You wanted his touch, his lips, everything. It was a little embarrassing, but right now you didn’t care if you seemed desperate. “I want you!”
“What do you want, darling?” He wanted to hear you say it.
But when you felt his twitching cock against your wetness, his huge hands toying with your breasts and his oh so lovely lips nibbling on your neck, you struggled to think, let alone form a sentence. You let out a frustrated whine, which again made Loki laugh. “Words, love. Tell me what you want.” This time he sounded more demanding.
“Mmhmm,” Loki moved his hand up your chest and around your neck, holding you a little tighter but not enough to choke you. “I might want something in return,” He reminded you.
You looked into his eyes that were now darkened by lust. As scary as it seemed, you didn’t care. You were aware of what you were getting yourself into, with this vampire.
“Bite me,” You told him boldly.
Loki seemed pleasantly surprised by that. “It will hurt,” He let you know as he brushed your hair away from your neck. He was thirsty and he wanted to taste you already, but prolonging it made it more fun.
You were far too eager to think about the consequences.
“I don’t care,” You admitted shamelessly. A little pain here and there would only spice things up.
That was more than enough for Loki. He parted his lips and you finally saw them, his fangs. Two sharp teeth that looked like the ends of a pair of daggers. They were sharp and long. Oddly enough, you found him attractive with them.
Loki nuzzled his face in the crook of your neck and you wrapped your arms around his torso, for comfort but also to keep him close because it felt nice. By now, your heart was back in your throat, beating hard from both arousal and excitement, and a little bit of fear.
As if to make you more comfortable, Loki pushed his hand between your legs and found your clit. He started rubbing circles on your little bundle of nerves which felt heavenly. His fingers were skilled, and he somehow knew exactly how to make you crumble beneath his touch. Instinctively you wrapped your leg around him, giving him better access to your dripping wet cunt.
Suddenly you felt a very sharp pain in your neck. His teeth pierced your skin and he bit you, surely hard enough to leave a prominent mark.
“Ohh,” You moaned in pain and squeezed your eyes shut as you tried to stay tough. It hurt more than you thought it would, but it wasn’t so bad that you had to push him off. Once his teeth had sunk deep enough, he closed his lips around the fresh wound and he sucked on your skin. It was a bizarre sensation when he drank your blood, not letting a single drop go to waste. Through all the pain it caused, it felt good.
Loki pulled his sharp fangs out of your neck and you felt a hot stream of blood running down your skin, which he licked off immediately. “Gosh, you taste even better than I thought you would,” He let you know.
“Loki,” You moaned his name delightfully, feeling a new kind of high. He had just drunk your blood and now his fingers were giving you exactly what you needed.
“You’re doing so good,” He praised you, which made you feel proud. You wanted to be good for him. For a moment, he let go of you, which made you whine impatiently. But he didn’t leave you in distress for long. You pushed yourself up by the elbows and watched how he crawled down your body, kissing you chest and stomach as he did so. Finally, he was between your legs and he had a tight grip on your body, keeping you locked on the spot so you couldn’t possibly escape the torture of pleasure he was going to put you through.
“Let’s see how you can handle this,” You could barely hear it. The next thing you knew, his tongue licked your heat all the way to your clit. Then Loki captured it between his lips and began sucking on it, and nibbling it, whatever to make you writhe in both pleasure and pain.
You could hardly breathe when he had started. It happened so fast and you were suddenly indulged in the greatest pleasure you had ever felt in your life. Your body didn’t know how to react, and you were squirming which was out of your control. But Loki was strong and he kept you exactly where he wanted you.
“Oh my god!” You cried out and squeezed the sheets with your hands, having to hold onto something. Never before had you felt an orgasm forming faster. No one had ever touched you like this. It felt like you were being devoured by a god, and you loved every second of it.
When Loki pushed two of his long fingers inside you, you lost your breath for a moment. The feeling of his fingers stretching your cunt as his mouth tortured your clit was too much. You felt warmth spread on your face from embarrassment when you knew you couldn’t hold it for much longer.
“Loki...I’m going to come, I’m-”
“Do it,” he wanted you to come undone right before him. Knowing that you were close made him eager to push you even further. He thrusted his fingers inside you faster and curled them just perfectly. He kept doing that and he never took his eyes off of yours.
Thankfully, he stopped -- for now. He kissed your inner thigh and then let go of you. As you stayed on the bed to catch your breath, Loki stood up. By now he wanted you so bad it was almost unbearable. His pants were tight to the point it almost hurt. He needed you, and he needed you fast. He rid himself of his clothes that were just in the way and then returned to the bed.
You looked down and when you saw just how intensely he was watching you, you came. Your orgasm was powerful, and it felt like it knocked you out. It rippled through your body strongly and left you a puddle on the mattress. It didn’t stop Loki. He pulled his fingers out and licked your arousal, making sure to taste all of you.
“Loki! Fuck...I can’t,” You whimpered when it got too much. Although it felt amazing, you were sure that if he kept teasing your sensitive cunt, you’d pass out.
“Are you alright, love?” He was full of lust, but he also had to know if you were up to it.
“I’ve never been better,” You answered him joyously. It was true. You couldn’t recall ever feeling as good as you did now. It was like you were on cloud nine with him. Somehow the bite didn’t hurt. It felt like bliss had enveloped you entirely, and it wasn’t over yet.
Seeing all of him was impressive. His cock was huge, and the tip was red. You knew he was being extremely careful with you and he must’ve yearned for touch, some much needed friction. Before he could crawl on top of you, you grabbed him by his shoulders and pushed him on his back, crawling on his lap as you did so. He seemed surprised by this move, but he didn’t mind it. “Are you sure you can take it?”
“Oh I can,” You were confident. By now, you had recovered from your first mind-blowing orgasm and you needed more. It had only taken one time and you felt addicted. The thought of feeling his cock inside you was like a dream and you needed it to come true now.
Carefully, you grabbed his cock and rubbed your thumb over the tip, spreading his pre-cum. It was so big that you could hardly close your hand around it.
“Like what you see?” Loki had turned a little cocky by now, but you didn’t mind it at all.
You looked into his eyes and nodded, “I certainly can’t complain.”
Loki grabbed your hips rather roughly, but you liked the dominance of it all. You leaned your body closer to his dick, but instead of riding him, you decided to tease him. You rubbed your clit against his tip, and then sat down so his cock was trapped between you and his stomach. Then slowly, you rubbed yourself off on his cock, feeling how it twitched by the teasing touch.
He couldn’t take it anymore. He turned the two of you around coarsely so that he was on top. You barely had time to register what was happening when he grabbed your wrists and pinned them above your head, with one hand.
“You’re certainly full of surprises,” Loki’s voice was raspy, and you could tell he felt good. Perhaps he was a little irritated by the teasing but in the very best way.
You rested your hands on his chest and picked up the pace, humping yourself on his cock which felt so good. By now, your clit was pulsing ever so eagerly and you were sure your arousal was dripping on the sheets. A little moan left your lips, and it was driving Loki wild.
Finally, he sank his cock into you. It was a little harsh, but it was incredibly satisfying.
“Loki! Holy…” You panted, and didn’t finish the sentence. His body was heavy on yours and you felt trapped, and hugged.
“Loki,” You tried to catch his attention in the middle of it all. He grabbed your jaw and looked into your eyes curiously, slowing down ever so slightly with his strong thrusts. He was listening.
He had a good grip on you, which he used as he began pounding into you. He wasn’t careful anymore, not like he was before. His touch was strong and it would certainly leave bruises. The way he pushed himself deep inside your cunt was feral. It was driving you absolutely wild.
A set of moans and cries left your mouth uncontrollably. The way he reached that delightful spot within you every time was almost too much for you to handle. He fucked you unlike any other man before. Like a vampire. You were his prey.
Loki grabbed your ass and squeezed tightly, making you groan and hold onto him tighter. Your nails were digging into his skin, but he didn’t seem to mind it at all.
“You...feel...absolutely amazing, pet,” He growled to you, chasing his own high.
A warm feeling spread through your body. You were happy that he felt good too. Somehow, you wanted more.
“Bite me,” You wanted him to do it again. You wanted to feel the adrenaline rush and the pain again, but now combined with his lovely pounding.
There was a gleam in his eyes now, and you didn’t have to tell him twice. He was quick to move your head and reveal the unbroken skin on the other side of your neck. He could see your pulse, and it was practically begging him to bite already. This time he went right for it. The sharp fangs stung madly and then sank deep into your flesh. At first, the pain made you freeze. You held onto him tighter, combing your fingers through his long, raven hair and holding onto his neck.
When he started sucking your precious blood, and he kept digging his cock into your wetness, you relaxed. A wave of pleasure crashed against you and somehow it felt euphoric how he was biting you. You couldn’t feel pain anymore; just a perfect bliss.
You let out a throaty moan and closed your eyes, wanting to feel everything as intensely as you possibly could. He was so close, and you could’ve sworn you felt his cock all the way in your stomach. At first, it hurt how much he was stretching you, but now it was the best thing you had ever felt.
There was a tingling sensation on your neck when he swallowed your blood. Loki craved more, but he also knew that if he took too much, you would suffer from it.
With any other human, he wouldn’t have thought about it twice. He would’ve sucked them dry and left them to die. But he didn’t want to do that with you. No, you were special and now that he had you, he wasn’t going to let go.
So he abandoned your neck, and kissed the wound he made -- to make you feel better. He had a little bit of your blood left in his mouth, which he wanted to savour until he got an idea.
Once again, Loki grabbed your jaw forcefully, which caused you to open your mouth. Without hesitation, he spat the remaining blood right into your mouth. “Taste yourself,” He explained and closed your mouth so you couldn’t spit it out and waste the bloody nectar.
At first, you felt shocked that he did that. But you quickly learned that you enjoyed it. The way he just manhandled you with such care. The blood had a strong irony taste. At first, it was almost too much. But then you swallowed it, all of it while looking at Loki. Once he saw that you swallowed it, he was happy.
“Good girl,” he praised you again. He kissed your lips, which took you by surprise but in a pleasant way. Then he picked up the pace, fucking you harder again, bringing the both of you closer to the edge. Another storm was brewing within you, and you were getting dangerously close. Your walls clenched around Loki, and he growled at the sensation. “You’re close, aren’t you?” He realized, and he sounded smug about it.
You could only nod your head as an answer, along with an incompetent moan.
He wanted to watch you unfold, to be so full of pleasure that you wouldn’t know how to handle it. Torturing others with pleasure was one of the greatest things he knew of, and it was no different with you. Loki began to rub circles on your clit just to make it harder for you.
“Oh god!” You gasped at the sudden sensation. His cold fingers felt like a dream against your heat. Like water after a long, hot day.
“Come for me! Come my little pet,” He wanted you to cum all over his cock. Loki was close too and he couldn’t wait to spill his seed inside your inviting body. It was incredibly tempting, and he wasn’t sure if he could stop now even if he wanted to.
You felt like he pushed you over the edge and he did so hard. Your second orgasm approached fast and deeply, shaking you to the core. Your mind went blank and you were sure you cried out his name repeatedly like a prayer, but you weren’t aware of it. The mixture of feelings and desire had you overwhelmed, like in a dream-like state of mind.
Loki felt your walls tightening around him which pushed him to the edge too. He grabbed your hips and buried himself deep inside you as he finally came. A warm feeling spread through his entire body and he felt relieved.
His cum coated your walls, and you couldn’t help but to moan when you felt him filling you up. It was an incredibly satisfying feeling to know he came too.Loki didn’t pull out. He wanted to savour the moment for as long as he possibly could. He wanted to stay close to you like this and soak in the bliss.
And he knew that if you were up to it, he could do it again. After all, he was no ordinary man.
“That was incredible, Loki,” You whispered, afraid to break the comfortable silence that set around you.
Loki brushed his fingers over the bite-marks ever so gently. He knew that you, as a human, must’ve been exhausted after all that. He didn’t just bite you once, but twice, and he had handled you quite decently as well. He’d happily do it again, but he knew it could be too much for a mere mortal like you.
For now.
“You should rest,” He told you after a while.
Sleep would top it all off nicely, you thought. “Can you stay?” You wondered. His presence was calming and you enjoyed it. Deep down, you wished that this wasn’t going to end already.
“Of course. I’ll go grab something and I will be right back by your side,” Loki promised you as he was brushing his fingers on your neck and shoulders.
He wasn’t going to throw you out now that he had gotten what he wanted. It made your heart swell warmly. Who would’ve guessed a vampire could be so sweet?
As he pulled out of you, you felt empty and cold. You squeezed your weary legs together and tried to pull a blanket over your exposed body. He had been right. You needed to rest. All that had taken a toll on you. You were going to clean yourself up very soon, but your legs were jelly and you knew you wouldn’t be able to get up just yet.
Loki grabbed the large blanket and spread it over you safely. Something inside of him told him to take care of you. He didn’t know why but he was protective over you. Perhaps it was because you were different.
Or because he hadn’t killed you, and you were now going to turn into a vampire -- just like him.
He was the one who had started the process, infected you with the beginning of a new life. Loki felt responsible for your transformation and he was going to make sure it would happen smoothly.
You were his now, but you just didn’t know that yet.

Entranced: Ron Weasley X Reader
Tumblr media
"I played like a sack of dragon dung," said Ron in a hollow voice when
the changing room door had swung shut behind Ginny.
You had just had Quidditch practice and you, being one of the best Chasers, tried your best not to tell Ron that you’d given him the easiest serves of all
"No, you didn't," you said firmly.
"You're the best Keeper I tried out, Ron. Your only problem is nerves." Harry added.
You both kept up a relentless flow of encouragement all the way back to the castle, and by the time you reached the second floor, Ron was looking marginally more cheerful. When Harry pushed open the tapestry to take their usual shortcut up to Gryffindor Tower, however, they found themselves looking at Dean and Ginny, who were locked in a close embrace and kissing fiercely as though glued together.
You covered your mouth to supress a giggle as Harry’s features set into a scowl of the deepest loathing.
Ron, looking fairly affronted as well, spoke first.
"Oi!"
Dean and Ginny broke apart and looked around. "What?" said Ginny.
"I don't want to find my own sister snogging people in public!"
"This was a deserted corridor till you came butting in!" said Ginny.
Dean was looking embarrassed. He gave Harry a shifty grin that Harry did not return.
"Er . . . c'mon, Ginny," said Dean, "let's go back to the common room. ..."
"You go!" said Ginny. "I want a word with my dear brother!" Dean left, looking as though he was not sorry to depart the scene.
"Right," said Ginny, tossing her long red hair out of her face and glaring at Ron, "let's get this straight once and for all. It is none of your business who I go out with or what I do with them, Ron --"
"Yeah, it is!" said Ron, just as angrily. "D' you think I want people saying my sister's a --"
"A what?" shouted Ginny, drawing her wand. "A what, exactly?"
"He doesn't mean anything, Ginny --" you coaxingly began.
"Oh yes he does!" she said, flaring up at you. "Just because he's never snogged anyone in his life, just because the best kiss he's ever had is from our Auntie Muriel --"
"Shut your mouth!" bellowed Ron, bypassing red and turning maroon.
"No, I will not!" yelled Ginny, beside herself. "I've seen you with Phlegm, hoping she'll kiss you on the cheek every time you see her, it's pathetic! If you went out and got a bit of snogging done yourself, you wouldn't mind so much that everyone else does it!"
Ron had pulled out his wand too; Harry stepped swiftly between them.
"You don't know what you're talking about!" Ron roared, trying to get a clear shot at Ginny around Harry, who was now standing in front of her with his arms outstretched. "Just because I don't do it in public --!"
Ginny screamed with derisive laughter, trying to push Harry out of the way. “Been kissing Pigwidgeon, have you? Or have you got a picture of Auntie Muriel stashed under your pillow?" You –"
A streak of orange light flew under Harrys left arm and missed Ginny by inches; Harry pushed Ron up against the wall.
"Don't be stupid --"
"Harry's snogged Cho Chang!" shouted Ginny, who sounded close to tears now. "Hermione snogged Viktor Krum! Heck, even Y/N’s nogged Cedric probably once, it's only you who acts like it's something disgusting, Ron, and that's because you've got about as much experience as a twelve-year-old!"
“Hey, you’ve got no business talking to him like that!” you were very red in the face indeed.
“Oh, save it.” Ginny snarled, “You’re just embarrassed I told Ron you snogged Cedric.”
“I didn’t snog him-”
“I’m sorry Y/N, as much of a great friend and elder-sister vibes you have given me... he needs to know.”
And with that, she stormed away. Harry quickly let go of Ron; the look on his face was murderous. They both stood there, breathing heavily, until Mrs. Norris, Filch’s cat, appeared around the corner, which broke the tension.
"C'mon," said Harry, as the sound of Filch's shuffling feet reached their ears.
They hurried up the stairs and along a seventh-floor corridor. "Oi, out of the way!" Ron barked at a small girl who jumped in fright and dropped a bottle of toadspawn.
You hardly noticed the sound of shattering glass; you felt disoriented, dizzy; being struck by a lightning bolt must be something like this. You saw Ron ripping open the tapestry curtain and drawing his wand on Harry, shouting things like "betrayal of trust" . . . "supposed to be my friend" . . .
"Did you really snog Diggory?" Ron asked abruptly, as you approached the Fat Lady.
You turned around, “Excuse me?”
"Dilligrout," Ron said darkly to the Fat Lady, and they climbed through the portrait hole into the common room.
“I hardly think that’s any of your business, Ronald.” You coldly said.
“Oh, please.” The redhead sneered before trudging upstairs to his dormitory.
--------
Ron had been awful to you since the past few days. He’d try his best to ignore you and even slip in a few snarky comments about you, something which was very un-Ron-like.
You had become so tired of Ron's recent unpleasant behaviour that you had not come down to breakfast with him and Harry since, instead choosing to go with Hermione.
She had initially questioned you, but a few snaps and choked sobs later, she left it and just consolingly rubbed your back as you silently thanked her every night.
She paused on her way up the table.
"How are you both feeling?" she asked tentatively, her eyes on the back of Ron's head.
"I dont know what you're talking about," said Harry, stowing the little bottle hastily in his pocket.
“Thanks.” You gave a weary smile. You felt really bad ignoring Harry, but your pride had gotten on the way tremendously.
“She doesn’t need it.” Ron whispered loud enough for you to hear, “I ‘spose Diggory had already said that a hundred times.”
You were about to open your mouth, but someone interrupted.
"Nearly time.” said Harry blithely.
"Fishy, isn't it?" he said in an undertone to Ron. "Malfoy not playing?"
------------
You, Ron and Harry were the last two in the changing room. You were just about to leave when Hermione entered. She was twisting her Gryffindor scarf in her hands and looked upset but determined. "I want a word with you, Harry." She took a deep breath. "You shouldn't have done it. You heard Slughorn, its illegal."
"What are you going to do, turn us in?" demanded Ron.
"What are you two talking about?" asked Harry.
"You know perfectly well what we're talking about!" said Hermione shrilly. "You spiked Ron’s juice with lucky potion at breakfast! Felix Felicis!"
"No, I didn't," said Harry, turning back to face them both.
"Yes, you did, Harry, and that's why everything went right, there were Slytherin players missing and Ron saved everything!"
"I didn't put it in!" said Harry, grinning broadly. He slipped his hand inside his jacket pocket and drew out the tiny bottle that Hermione had seen in his hand that morning. It was full of golden potion and the cork was still tightly sealed with wax. "I wanted Ron to think I'd done it, so I faked it when I knew you were looking." He looked at Ron. "You saved everything because you felt lucky. You did it all yourself."
He pocketed the potion again.
"There really wasn't anything in my pumpkin juice?" Ron said, astounded. "But the weather's good. . . and Vaisey couldn't play. ... I honestly haven't been given lucky potion?"
Harry shook his head. Ron gaped at him for a moment, then rounded on Hermione, imitating her voice. "You added Felix Felicis to Ron's juice this morning, that's why he saved everything! See! I can save goals without help, Hermione! Y/N’s bad enough as it is, I don’t need you making my life miserable as well."
You inhaled sharply as Harry guiltily sent you what looked like a consoling stare. You shook your head, trying your best not to scream at Ron.
"I never said you couldn't -- Ron, you thought you'd been given it too!" said Hermione.
But Ron had already strode past her out of the door with his broomstick over his shoulder.
"Er," said Harry into the sudden silence; he had not expected his plan to backfire like this, "shall. . . shall we go up to the party, then?"
"You go!" said Hermione, blinking back tears. "I'm sick of Ron at the moment, I don't know what I'm supposed to have done. . . ."
And she stormed out of the changing room too.
Which left you and Harry.
You refused to look at him and when he cleared his throat, you wanted to run, screaming.
“Y/N.” he began, “Is there... something I don’t know about?”
“Like what?”
“Like what the hell is going on between you and Ron?”
Harry instantly regretted saying this, as your lip trembled and you glared at him straight in the eye before coldly snapping, “If you haven’t noticed... Ronald has a problem of not knowing the fine line between being upset with someone and being nasty to them. I’m surprised how his broomstick can fly with that fat head on it.
When you arrived, the Gryffindor celebration party, which as in full swing. Renewed cheers and clapping greeted your appearance, and he was soon surrounded by a mob of people congratulating you. What with trying to shake off the Creevey brothers, who wanted a blow-by-blow match analysis, and the large group of girls that encircled Harry, laughing at his least amusing comments and batting their eyelids, it was some time before you could escape.
As you moved, you walked straight into Ginny, Arnold the Pygmy Puff riding on her shoulder and Crookshanks mewing hopefully at her heels.
"Looking for Ron?" she asked, smirking. "He's over there, the filthy hypocrite.”
You looked into the corner she was indicating. There, in full view of the whole room, stood Ron wrapped so closely around Lavender Brown it was hard to tell whose hands were whose.
"It looks like he's eating her face, doesn't it?" said Ginny dispassionately. "But I suppose he's got to refine his technique somehow. Good game, Y/N."
She patted you on the arm; you felt as if you had forgotten how to breathe, trying not to choke on your spit too severely from the amount of effort it took you not to cry.
You quickly turned away from Ron, who did not look like he would be surfacing soon, and darted out the door out of sight.
---------
"Y/N?" Harry’s voice called five minutes later.
He found her in the first unlocked classroom he tried. You were sitting on the teacher's desk, next to Hermione, who had a small ring of twittering yellow birds circling her head, which she had clearly just conjured out of midair.
"Oh, hello, Harry," she said in a brittle voice. "I was just practicing."
"Yeah . . . they're -- er -- really good. ..." said Harry. “Listen, Y/N...”
He had no idea what to say to you. He was just wondering whether there was any chance that you had not noticed Ron, that you had merely left the room because the party was a little too rowdy, when you said, in an unnaturally high-pitched voice, "Ron seems to be enjoying the celebrations."
"Er . . . does he?" said Harry.
"Don't pretend you didn't see him," said Hermione. "He wasn't exactly hiding it, was -- ?"
The door behind them burst open. To Harry's horror, Ron came in, laughing, pulling Lavender by the hand.
"Oh," he said, drawing up short at the sight of Harry, you and Hermione.
"Oops!" said Lavender, and she backed out of the room, giggling. The door swung shut behind her. There was a horrible, swelling, billowing silence. Hermione was staring at Ron in disapproval and anger, who refused to look at her and the H/C girl, but said with an odd mixture of bravado and awkwardness, "Hi, Harry! Wondered where you'd got to!"
Hermione slid off the desk. The little flock of golden birds continued to twitter in circles around her head so that she looked like a strange, feathery model of the solar system.
"You shouldn't leave Lavender waiting outside," she said quietly. "She'll wonder where you've gone."
She walked very slowly and erectly toward the door. Harry glanced at Ron, who was looking relieved that nothing worse had happened.
"Oppugno!" came a shriek from the doorway.
You spun around to see Hermione pointing her wand at Ron, her expression wild: The little flock of birds was speeding like a hail of fat golden bullets toward Ron, who yelped and covered his face with his hands, but the birds attacked, pecking and clawing at every bit of flesh they could reach, and you were not sorry for him in the least.
"Gerremoffme!" he yelled, but with one last look of vindictive fury, Hermione wrenched open the door and pulled you along, before you disappeared through it, choking on a sob.
----------
'Want one?” said Ron thickly, holding out a box of Chocolate Cauldrons.
It was his birthday, and no matter how angry you were, you dropped by to say an awkward hello.
“Suit yourself,” said Ron, stuffing a second Cauldron into his mouth as he slid out of bed to get dressed. 'Come on Harry. If you don't hurry up, you'll have to Apparate on an empty-stomach ... might make it easier, I suppose ..."
Ron looked thoughtfully at the box of Chocolate Cauldrons, then shrugged and helped himself to a third.
Harry tapped the map with his wand, muttered, 'Mischief managed,”
'Ready?' he said to Ron.
“Excuse me.” You quietly said to make them aware of your presence, “We’re going to be late.”
You and Harry were halfway to the dormitory door when you realised that Ron had not moved, but was leaning on his bedpost, staring out of the rain-washed window with a strangely un-focused look on his face.
'Ron? Breakfast.'
“I'm not hungry,”
You stared ai him. “I thought you just said -?”
“-Well, all right, I'll come down with you,' sighed Ron, 'but I don't want to eat.'
  You scrutinised him suspiciously.
'You've just eaten half a box of Chocolate Cauldrons, haven't you?'
'It's not that,' Ron sighed again. 'You ... you wouldn't understand.'
'Fair enough,' said Harry, albeit puzzled, as he turned to open the door.
'Harry!' said Ron suddenly.
'What?'
'Harry, I can't stand it!'
'You can't stand what?' asked Harry; you were now starting to feel definitely alarmed. Ron was rather pale and looked as though he was about to be sick.
'I can't stop thinking about her!' said Ron hoarsely.
You gaped at him. You had not expected this and were not sure you wanted to hear it. ‘Friends’ you might be, but if Ron started calling Lavender 'Lav- Lav', you would have to put your foot down.
'Why does that stop you having breakfast?' Harry asked, trying to inject a note of common sense into the proceedings.
'I don't think she knows I exist,' said Ron with a desperate gesture.
'She definitely knows you exist,' you said angrily. 'She keeps snogging you, doesn't she?'
Ron blinked.
'Who are you talking about?'
Who are you talking about?' said you and Harry together, with an increasing sense that all
reason had dropped out of the conversation.
'Romilda Vane,' said Ron softly, and his whole face seemed to illuminate as he said it, as though hit by a ray of purest sunlight. You stared at each other for almost a whole minute, before Harry said, 'This is a joke, right? You're joking.'
Think ... Harry, I think I love her,' said Ron in a strangled voice.
'OK,' you said, walking up to Ron to get a better look at the glazed eyes and the pallid complexion, 'OK ... say that again with a straight face.'
'I love her,' repeated Ron breathlessly. 'Have you seen her hair, it's all black and shiny and silky ... and her eyes? Her big dark eyes? And her -'
'This is really funny and everything,' said Harry impatiently, 'but joke's over, all right? Drop it.'
He turned to leave; he had got two steps towards the door when a crashing blow hit him on the right ear. Staggering, he looked round. Ron's fist was drawn right back, his face was contorted with rage; he was about to strike again.
Harry reacted instinctively; his wand was out of his pocket and the incantation sprang to mind without conscious thought: Levicorpus!
Ron yelled as his heel was wrenched upwards once more; he dangled helplessly, upside-down, his robes hanging off him.
'What was that for?' you bellowed.
'He insulted her! He said it was a joke!' shouted Ron, who was slowly turning purple in the face as all the blood rushed to his head.
'This is insane!' said Harry. 'What's got into -?'
And then he saw the box lying open on Ron's bed and the truth hit him with the force of a stampeding troll.
'Where did you get those Chocolate Cauldrons?'
'They were a birthday present!' shouted Ron, revolving slowly in midair as he struggled to get free. ‘I offered you one, didn't I?'
'You just picked them up off the floor, didn't you?'
'They'd fallen off my bed, all right? Let me go!'
'They didn't fall off your bed, you prat, don't you understand? They were mine, I chucked them out of my trunk when I was looking for the map. They're the Chocolate Cauldrons Romilda gave me before Christmas and they're all spiked with love potion!'
You gave an outraged cry at this information.
But only one word of this seemed to have registered with Ron.
‘Romilda?' he repeated. 'Did you say Romilda? Harry - do you know her? Can you introduce me?'
Harry stared at the dangling Ron, whose face now looked tremendously hopeful, and fought a strong desire to laugh... Y/N thought that he would deserve another punching if he permitted Ron to declare undying love for Romilda Vane.
'Yeah, I'll introduce you,' said Harry, thinking fast. 'I'm going to let you down now, OK?'
He sent Ron crashing back to the floor (his ear did hurt quite a lot), but
Ron simply bounded to his feet again, grinning.
'She'll be in Slughorn's office.’ said Harry confidently, leading the way to the door.
'Why will she be in there?' asked Ron anxiously, hurrying to keep up.
'Oh, she has extra Potions lessons with him,' you said, inventing wildly.
'Maybe I could ask if I can have them with her?' said Ron eagerly.
'Great idea,' said Harry. Lavender was waiting beside the portrait hole, a complication both you and Harry had not foreseen.
  'You're late, Won-Won!' she pouted. 'I've got you a birth-day-'
'Leave me alone,' said Ron impatiently, 'Harry's going to introduce me to Romilda Vane.'
And without another word to her, he pushed his way out of the portrait hole. Harry tried to make an apologetic face to Lavender, but it might have turned out simply amused, because she looked more offended than ever as the Fat Lady swung shut behind them.
You had been slightly worried that Slughorn might be at breakfast, but he answered his office door at the first knock, wearing a green velvet dressing-gown and matching nightcap and looking rather bleary-eyed.
'Harry, Y/N.' he mumbled. 'This is very early for a call ... I generally sleep late on a Saturday ..."
'Professor, I'm really sorry to disturb you,' said Harry as quietly as possible, while Ron stood on tiptoe, attempting to see past Slughorn into his room, 'but my friend Ron's swallowed a love potion by mistake. You couldn't make him an antidote, could you? I'd take him to Madam Pomfrey, but we're not supposed to have anything from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes and, you know ... awkward questions ...'
‘I’d have thought you could have whipped him up a remedy, Harry, an expert potioneer like you?' asked Slughorn.
'Er,' said Harry, somewhat distracted by the fact that Ron was now elbowing him in the ribs in an attempt to force his way into the room, and Y/N held him firmly back, 'well, I've never mixed an antidote for a love potion, sir, and by the time I get it right Ron might've done something serious -'
Helpfully, Ron chose this moment to moan, 'I can't see her. Harry - is he hiding her?'
'Was this potion within date?' asked Slughorn, now eyeing Ron with professional interest. 'They can strengthen, you know, the longer they're kept.'
That would explain a lot,' panted Harry, now positively wrestling with Ron to keep him from knocking Slughorn over.
'It's his birthday, Professor,' you added imploringly.
'Oh, all right, come in, then, come in,' said Slughorn, relenting. 'I've got the necessary here in my bag, it's not a difficult antidote ...'
Ron burst through the door into Slughorn's overheated, crowded study, tripped over a tasselled footstool, regained his balance by seizing Harry around the neck and muttered, 'She didn't see that, did she?'
'She's not here yet,' said Harry, watching Slughorn opening his potion kit and adding a few pinches of this and that to a small crystal bottle.
That's good,' said Ron fervently. 'How do I look?'
'Very handsome,' said Slughorn smoothly.
‘It can never be me, can it?’ you asked quietly so only Harry could hear, ‘Even when it’s a mistake...’
‘You have no idea.’ Harry whispered back, patting your hand slightly, handing Ron a glass of clear liquid. 'Now drink that up, it's a tonic for the nerves, keep you calm when she arrives, you know,'
'Brilliant,' said Ron eagerly, and he gulped the antidote down noisily.
Harry, you and Slughorn watched him. For a moment, Ron beamed at you. Then, very slowly, his grin sagged and vanished, to be replaced by an expression of utmost horror.
'Back to normal, then?' said Harry, grinning. Slughorn chuckled. Thanks a lot, Professor.'
'Don't mention it, m'boy, don't mention it,' said Slughorn, as Ron collapsed into a nearby armchair, looking devastated. 'Pick-me-up, that's what he needs,' Slughorn continued, now-bustling over to a table loaded with drinks. 'I've got Butter-beer, I've got wine, I've got one last bottle of this oak-matured mead ... hmm ... meant to give that to Dumbledore for Christmas ... ah well ...' he shrugged '... he can't miss what he's never had! Why don't we open it now and celebrate Mr Weasley's birthday? Nothing like a fine spirit to chase away the pangs of disappointed love ...'
He chortled again and you and Harry joined in.
There you are, then,' said Slughorn, handing Harry, Y/N and Ron a glass of mead each, before raising his own. 'Well, a very happy birthday, Ralph -'
'- Ron -' you whispered.
But Ron, who did not appear to be listening to the toast, had already thrown the mead into his mouth and swallowed it.
There was one second, hardly more than a heartbeat, in which Harry knew there was something terribly wrong and Slughorn, it seemed, did not. '- and may you have many more -
'Ron!' you yelled.
Ron had dropped his glass; he half-rose from his chair and then crumpled, his extremities jerking uncontrollably. Foam was dribbling from his mouth and his eyes were bulging from their sockets.
'Professor!' you bellowed. 'Do something!'
But Slughorn seemed paralysed by shock. Ron twitched and choked: his skin was turning blue.
'What - but -' spluttered Slughorn.
‘HARRY, THE STONE!’ you yelled, frightened at the spasming body in front of you.
Harry leapt over a low table and sprinted towards Slughorn's open potion kit, pulling out jars and pouches, while the terrible sound of Ron's gargling breath filled the room. Then he found it - the shrivelled kidney-like stone Slughorn had taken from him in Potions.
He hurtled back to Ron's side, wrenched open his jaw and thrust the bezoar into his mouth. Ron gave a great shudder; a rattling gasp and his body became limp and still.
-----------
“He’s alright, isn’t he?” you asked Madame Pomfrey for about the hundredth time.
“Yes dear, he’s fine,” she consolingly told you.
“Quick thinking on your part, Harry and Y/N. Using a bezoar.” Dumbledore informed you.
“I agree, Potter and L/N’s actions were heroic! Only, why were they necessary?” Professor McGonagall questioned.
As they moved onto a conversation about a plot, you moved Ron’s flaming red hair out of his face, gently stroking his arm. The thought of someone wanting to poison him was too gruesome.
“Where is he? Where is my Won-Won? Has he been asking for me?” a high-pitched voice suddenly asked as you groaned.
“You.” Lavender spat, “What are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same thing!” you angrily shot back.
“I happen to be his girlfriend!” Lavender said in a dignified voice.
“Oh yeah?” you asked, “I happen to be his... best friend!”
“Friend.” Lavender scoffed, “Don’t make me laugh. You haven’t spoken in weeks! I suppose you want to patch up with him now that he’s all... interesting!”
“Interesting?!” you shrilly cried, “He’s poisoned, you daft dimbo!”
Ron chose that moment to groan in his sleep, muttering to himself unconsciously.
“Ah.” Lavender said triumphantly, “See? He senses my presence.”
“Ugh.” Ron groaned, still sleeping, “Uhh.... Y/N... Y/N/N...”
Your eyes grew wide as Lavender stifled a sob, running out of the room.
The professors stared after her.
“Oh, to be young.” Professor Dumbledore sighed, “And to feel love’s keen sting. I think we ought to leave, Mr. Weasley is well tended to by Miss L/N.”
“About time.” Ginny whispered as she and Harry shared a smirk, sending heat to your cheeks.
“Oh, shut up.” You huffed, still blushing madly as you stroked Ron’s hand.
-----
Ron had been released from the hospital wing, and was once again seated in the common room with you, Harry and Hermione at late night. The room was deserted.
“I’m leaving, Crookshanks is probably hungry,” Hermione announced, getting up.
The silence was deafening.
“So,” Harry said in an obvious attempt to make conversation, though you could practically feel the smirk in his voice, “Aren’t you curious, Ron? About how we drove Lavender away?”
“Not really.” Ron shrugged, “As long as she’s gone, it’s fine by me.”
The truth was, Ron was very much aware of what had caused the girl to run away from the hospital wing a week ago.
“Right.” Harry was smirking worse than ever, “Y/N. Say, why have you been avoiding Ron for so long?”
“Hmm?” you squeaked. Seeing no possible way out of this, you sighed, “He was being a git.”
“Aren’t I always being a git to you?” Ron teased, causing you to roll your eyes.
“And say, Ron. Why have you been so keen to get rid of Lavender?” Harry asked again.
“She was annoying me.” Ron whined, “All she did was snog me. My lips got chapped! Look!”
“I’ll take your word for it.” Harry grimaced in disgust, “But that can’t be all, can it? Is there someone else? Or are you ready to shag whoever asks you first?”
“Excuse me?” Ron’s ears had turned scarlet, “Of course not! So, what if there was someone else?”
“You like someone?” you asked, trying to make the agony in your voice less obvious.
Ron, who noticed it anyway, felt a small glimmer of hope inside his body, “Uhm, yeah. I do.”
“And who might that be?” you struggled to keep your voice even; it was already two octaves higher than usual.
Taking a deep breath and considering that this could prove to be a disaster, Ron told the truth.
“You. I fancy you.”
“WHAT?” you asked, “Did I hear that right?!”
“I said I fancy you!” Ron yelled in embarrassment and pain, scared that you would burst out laughing.
“Oh,” you said thickly, “Oh, Ron! I... I fancy you too.”
“What?” it was Ron’s turn to ask, “Say that again?”
“I fancy you too.” You clarified, cheeks burning.
Ron leaned into the distance between you and you could feel his breath on your face. Gaze flickering to your lips, he ran his thumb over them before closing the distance between you.
The kiss started out sweet and loving, but soon turned angry and passionate as your lips collided multiple times.
“Um, guys?” Harry asked, reminding you that he was still there, “I got the point, you can stop now.”
Ignoring him, you and Ron continued.
