aromanticism deserves to be celebrated outside of the context of asexuality.
aromanticism deserves to be accepted and discussed without even mentioning asexuality.
aromantic allosexuality deserves to be celebrated.
aromanticism, on its own, with nothing else added, is fucking awesome.

ok but wouldn’t it be so cool if season two actually explored Alastors asexuality? Outside of one little comment? Like don’t get me wrong I love the ace deer man but I feel like the way we’re eating up that one crumb goes to show how little rep we actually get. And I get that everything we get about him in s1 is basically crumbs. He’s SUPPOSED to be mysterious. But I can’t help but worry that his identity is going to be ignored altogether within the story. And there are SUCH cool stories that can be told about this specific part of him. How did his relationship with Vox fall apart? Vox basically stalks him. Does that freak him out at all? Will it scare him in the future? When did Valentino come into the picture? Did that affect their friendship? How did Alastor survive hells hyper sexual environment when he first arrived?
And there ARE issues with the other queer rep in the show, but we have seen both Charlie and angel face homophobia in hell, and we have seen all sorts of sexual and romantic relationships. Ace and aro rep is a bit different, because it’s difficult to tell those kinds of stories without acknowledging the struggles that aspec people face. Very much how early gay rep focused a lot on prejudice. I understand why people just want a goofy silly aspec character who is accepted and just being themselves. I get that. But within the context of Hazbin, having good aspec rep just means acknowledging the struggles that come with it. And there’s so much you can do with that story wise, but I worry that the team will shy away from it as to not piss off the shippers.

Difficult question time for aspec people and people who struggle with intimacy
-
Pick the one that troubles you the most.
"But ace people can have sex !/ Aro people can be in relationships !" I know but there was not enough space to specify 'repulsed' or 'people who do struggle with relationships of any type'.
I didn't add "I'm worried people won't accept me" or something similar because I'm asking about problems you have with yourself.

I always find it interesting that the same discomfort ppl have when I talk abt being a loveless aroace emerges when I tell them I don’t like music
I am not kidding when I say people respond the EXACT same way. They’ll start naming genres or songs or artists or asking if I’ve had certain musical experiences or tell me how it’s weird bc music is a part of being human. Often times too they’ll ask if what I’m saying is really true or if I’m just trying to be quirky/contrarian.
Idk I think maybe we should be spending more time teaching people that no matter how universal they think one of their experiences is, there are very likely people who don’t have those experiences. And that’s okay. We should be taught to have more open minds to listen to how others experience life

A note to anyone who wants to read any of my books when they get released but can't order one for some reason: literally ask me and I'll just send you the doc. You don't have to give me anything in return.
Want to read Blind Trust or any future Songbird Elegy, but the price point of a new book isn't feasible, or you're in a place where ordering even a non-erotic queer romance could make things sketchy? Legitimately my DMs are open and I will send you the file myself. Fuck it, I'll send it tomorrow. Consider it an Advance Reader Copy, I don't know.
Is it a good business practice for someone hoping to be a successful writer? I don't know. I don't care. Aspec representation sucks so hard that if it's between me making a few dollars and you reading my book I'd rather you just read the book. In fact I'd be thrilled.
Let Scott and Edgar into your computer. They'll make you snacks and ask you about your day. Meaningful questions, too. They're both good listeners.

Even if I wasn't trans and bi my aroness would make me so extremely queer
Romantic relationships are the norm, not wanting them ever and not being romantically attracted to people is seen as literally inhuman. Especially when you're afab.
When you're raised as a "woman" everything in your life, every decision you make, 24/7 365 days a year is dictated by potential romance.
"Don't dye your hair or get a tattoo, your future husband won't like that"
"Don't get that job, men don't like women who earn more than them"
"Don't work out too much, your future boyfriend will feel emasculated"
"Dress like this to attract a man"
"Men like this kind of personality"
"You'll need to learn these skills so you can be a good wife someday!"
"You need to dedicate time to putting yourself out there! You can't spend all your time doing [thing you actually enjoy]!"
And yeah, it's linked with misogyny and women have been choosing to be single and childless for centuries despite the norm but the fact that it's not my choice is what makes me queer.
I didn't choose to not feel romantic attraction. I didn't choose to be averse to romance. I didn't choose to be aromantic.
I didn't choose to oppose the norm, I was born outside of it. And that's what queerness is all about.
(And yes, cisgender heterosexual aromantic men are 100% queer, I'm just speaking from my own personal experience)
[This post is about aromanticism, do not derail or tag as ace/asexual/aroace]

Yknow I think people should be able to label themselves however the fuck they want when it comes to sexuality/gender and that includes people who don’t want labels at all. If you see someone who labels themself a certain way, and your first thought is something along the lines of “They don’t fit the requirements of that label” instead of something like “Let me explore how they view themselves and how they label themselves in order to better understand why they want those labels, and how that overall fits into how they want to be perceived.”, then there’s something wrong.
These spaces don’t exist to exclude others, they don’t exist to tell someone they’re wrong, and they especially don’t exist to hurt others. Everyone has their own self identity, learn to respect it, because it isn’t that hard and it’s not gonna fuck up your life if someone goes against your preconceived ideas of how certain things should be. Acceptance doesn’t cost anything, but exclusivity and oppression does.
Let people be themselves, it really won’t hurt you.
