Queen Rania of Jordan: Christmas is canceled in the land of Jesus’ birth
Washington Post Op-Ed, December 21, 2023 at 6:45 a.m. EST
[Read this piece in Arabic.]
Bethlehem usually comes alive at Christmas. Not this year. In the Holy Land, celebrations have been canceled: no parades, no bazaars, no public tree lightings. In my country, Jordan, where Jesus was baptized, our Christian community has chosen to do the same.
In the occupied West Bank, oneBethlehem church has adapted its nativity scene, placing the infant Jesus among the rubble of a bombed-out building. It is a reflection of the story playing out on screens everywhere: the horrific images of the destruction of Gaza, and especially, its bloodied and broken children.
I watch a video of a Gazan father stroking his daughter’s face, telling someone to look at how beautiful she is. She could almost be sleeping, if not for her white shroud.
I scroll on and see a young boy struggling through rain and flooded roads, carrying the body of an even smaller child he refused to leave behind. A mother holding her daughter’s limp body close: “Put your heart on my heart,” she tells her, crying out as others try to take her away. She was not ready to let her go.
We need to see in these children’s faces the faces of our own. Each of these videos is a desperate plea to the world to recognize their humanity and their hurt.
The people of Gaza have not lost hope in others’ humanity — even as so many fail to see theirs.
Since Oct.7, the vast majority of casualties in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip have been civilians. Whether killed, kidnapped or unjustly detained, each person leaves an unfillable void. There is no difference between the pain Palestinian and Israeli mothers feel over the loss of a child.
Every day that goes by without a cease-fire, so much more is being tragically lost.
In just over two months, Israel has turned Gaza into a hellscape. Almost 20,000 dead. At least 8,000 are children — more than the death tolls of Pearl Harbor, the Sept. 11 attacks and Hurricane Katrina combined.
About 2 million out of 2.2 million people in Gaza have been displaced — almost an entire population turned to refugees. More than 50,000 Gazans have been wounded, but only eight hospitals out of 36 are operational.
On top of all this, hunger. Nearly half of the people in Gaza are starving. In more than two months, less than a week’s worth of the aid they need has been allowed in. How could starving a population be considered a legitimate form of self-defense?
International organizations are now calling Gaza a graveyard for children. How perverse that the Holy Land should be described as something so profoundly unholy.
This has become an unequivocal humanitarian nightmare. With each passing day, the threshold of what is acceptable falls to new lows, setting a terrifying precedent for this and other wars to come.
No matter what side you support, you can still demand a cease-fire, the release of hostages and detainees, and unrestricted access to aid.
Some will brush this off as a bleeding-heart plea, arguing that an immediate cease-fire is neither strategic nor sustainable. It is an indictment of the times that a call for a return to sanity could be dismissed as sentimentality. We also hear many talking about peace the day after as though to absolve themselves of the responsibility to act now.
A cease-fire is just the beginning. We must also embark on the difficult process of rehumanization — recognizing the humanity of others and acting on that universal kinship.
I am a mother, and my heart breaks for parents in Gaza doing everything in their power to keep their children alive — and then losing them. All parents share the impulse to shield their children from the worst of the world. No matter who you are or where you come from, your instinct to care for and protect those you love is one you must honor in yourself but also in strangers — even adversaries. Honoring it selectively diminishes our own humanity.
There is another video I will never forget: a mother, saying her goodbyes to her children. After going to bed on empty stomachs, they had been killed in their sleep by an airstrike.
Their mother’s grief is unbearable; her guilt that they died hungry broke me. “It’s okay, my boy. You are with God now,” she says to one son. “I named him Ayoub [Job] for patience,” she explains, and then, through tears: “I will be patient, my child.”
In the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament and the Quran, the prophet Job loses his possessions, children and health. Yet, he remains steadfast in his faith. His patience is honored by Jews, Christians and Muslims, who, at different points in history, have shared the Holy Land in peace. His story is one of pain but also hope.
This war has to end. Today, it boils down to one question that each of us must answer: If you could prevent hundreds or thousands more children from dying, would you?
If so, demanding a cease-fire is the absolute minimum you can do. And we, all of us, must do so together.

A mother of two who expects a sheltered 11 year old who wants to see the good in others to think like a grown adult?
I know this is in response to my Sansa post. So let me gladly explain. I’m not talking about an 11 year old who wants to see the good in people. I have two children. One who is mature for her age and one who is immature. My youngest is now 11. And both my kids would have never done what Sansa had. They are much more like Arya than Sansa to be sure because they would never lie over something so horrible. You seem to be putting your own head canon into this that Sansa wants to see the good in people and that’s it. Period. And she gets burned for that alone. That’s just part of the story. She also sees the worst in her own sister, whom she has bullied for not being a traditional lady. She also saw with her own eyes who Joffrey and Cersei were, and still lies to take their side over her own sister. No my oldest would protect my youngest at all costs, and would never lie to protect someone else, not even a boy she thought she loved. My youngest wouldn’t lie in such a situation either. Even after Cersei kills lady, she never takes responsibility for her part, doesn’t blame Cersei since she still trusts her and goes to her resulting in Ned’s arrest and eventually executed, instead she falsely blames Arya for Lady’s death. Not herself for lying, not Joffrey for instigating it all, and not Cersei for demanding Lady’s head though the wolf was innocent. She never cares for the innocent boy murdered for Joffrey’s actions. But even then, while I can not condone Sansa’s actions, nor will I gloss over them, her parents are largely to blame for letting her fill her head with fantasies and not raising her better, other than to be a good wife and have sons, and letting her keep this animosity for Arya. They kept her naive and sheltered, but how long are they to blame?
You seem to think Sansa stays the naive 11 year old. But in the WOW released Alayne chapter she is the same age Dany was when she married drogo and hatched dragons, the same chapters people judge Dany harshly for every thought and action claiming she is a master and evil, despite GRRM denying this and very much showing she is one of the heroes in the books. How is it right to judge Dany so harshly but Sansa gets a free pass at the same age after she has experience after experience proving to her not to trust these people? And those same people defending Sansa also blame and judge a 9-11 year old Arya just as badly as they do Dany. No, I don’t blame or judge Sansa in the first few chapters of the first book when she is naive and seeing the good in people from her sheltered upbringing, I rightly define her character based on chapter after chapter over years of several books that she still is more interested in marrying well than her own family’s lives and wellbeing.
Despite knowing nothing of Harry Hardyng besides he is good looking and the heir if Sweetrobin dies, she still thinks that she hopes Robin Arryn had enough of the POISON that is slowly killing him so he won’t make a scene when she dances with Harry to gain his affection to hopefully seal the marriage pact. She says this even after Robin says he knows Harry wants him to die so he can take his title as Lord of the Eyrie and Warden of Vale. He is correct, and even after she has taken care of her cousin and sees he is being slowly poisoned, she cares only for her own marriage to a handsome man and his title. After all she saw and suffered in King’s Landing, she has learned nothing. If she has learned anything it seems it will be to be more like Cersei and Littlefinger. I enjoy Sansa POV chapters very much, and I do not dislike her character, I do dislike many peoples inability to see her for the grey character she is and the possible darker turn she will take. I dislike her, and those who Stan her’s, inability to take any responsibility for her own actions.
Which is why I love Jon and Dany as characters, as in the books they are constantly measuring their actions and thoughts and trying to be better no matter how many times they fail. They take accountability when they screw up and take steps to rectify it. They actually grow and learn and are building. They are just as grey as every character, but they want to do better, where Sansa does and thinks very little about helping anyone but herself. Her thoughts are most entirely self-centered, even wishing her best friend Jeyne would stop crying because it was annoying after Jeyne had just witnessed northmen dying, including Jeyne’s father we learn, and during this time Sansa is not mostly concerned of her father, her sister, the northmen, she is concerned for her marriage to Joffrey. She doesn’t gain the self-realization she brought this on as well by trusting Cersei (though I agree Ned is mostly to blame, and Catelyn is not blameless, both more so than 11 year old Sansa) but she seems to never gain the insight to see how her selfish and naive actions affected anyone and she certainly doesn’t fix this defect within herself as we see her making the same mistake in WOW Alayne chapter.
Me being a mother of two only shows me to judge her parents for raising her so poorly and never teaching her properly how the outside world is and that family sticks together, though it seems to me Ned tried, that is literally the saying of the pack survives, but Sansa is so self centered she only wants her family if they act how she wants them to. She doesn’t want the sister she has because she doesn’t accept her for who she is. Catelyn’s doing I would say. but as a mother I also know not to shirk and dismiss a child’s responsibility for their own actions or they will never learn, and that is why Sansa is still the same 11 year old girl years later still caring more about marrying Harry than her own cousin. She has never had that moment of someone talking to her to see the error of her ways, and she has never realized her own mistakes or accountability. And that is why I don’t Stan Sansa. I can appreciate her character as it is without dismissing the wrong she does and raising her onto a pedestal.

Welcome to La Paz
I woke up feeling loads better and made sure to rustle around loudly in the room getting ready to wake the rest, since they had kept me up all night. I met up with Paul and we shared a taxi to the airport as we were on the same flight. It was a decent airport in Uyuni surprisingly, I compare all the small ones to Cusco as that being the worst. Uyuni airport only has two flights a week on Saturdays and Wednesdays and it seems like the whole town pitch in to run the airport as their part time job. We sat for a coffee while waiting to board and noticed the huge cloud of dust hovering over Uyuni city in the distance - it was shocking. I wished I had been wearing a mask the whole time I’d been there as it definitely can’t be healthy to breathe that in. I had brought a few masks with me just in case but hadn’t needed them so they’d all been moved to my big bag, and of course this flight was the one where a mask was required and I didn’t have one! They gave me one at the gate along with a sour look though. La Paz airport was the best of the trip so far, a lot more modern than Lima and with more facilities for the amount of passengers so it didn’t seem so crowded. I took the minibus 212 which was destined for downtown La Paz. I sat in the very back corner as I figured I’d be about the last person off, and then it got super crowded in all around me in every other seat. It only cost 5 bolivianos (less than $1) and took about 45 minutes to get into the central city. I hopped out when a lady and her very elderly companion started yelling at the driver asking him to take them closer but he was stuck at a steep one way the opposite way and these people didn’t understand that it’s not a private taxi! I visited Roasters Specialty Coffee in Sopocachi for breakfast of a strong cortado and French toast which in hindsight probably wasn’t the greatest decision right away… it was delicious though after days of not eating. I walked all the way back up to the hotel I’d stayed in previously to collect my bag and relocate it to the next hotel which was much nicer and a better location. I also picked up a reloadable card for the Teleferico system. Basically because La Paz/El Alto cities are built into the mountains, there are a lot of steep hills that make transport connection difficult. Also this city is so extremely busy but with a lot of poor people without their own wheels that there is a huge demand for ridership on public transport. As a result, the Teleferico was built. It’s a huge cable car gondola system that connects all the different neighbourhoods of La Paz and extends all the way up to El Alto. There are 38 stations across 11 different lines and 32km of cable tracks that carry almost 600,000 passengers per day. Each coloured line costs 3 bolivianos to ride and you can transfer from one colour to another for 2 bolivianos so I loaded my card with about 30 bolivianos which should be enough to ride around the whole system for a day. My new hotel was near the Mercado de las Brujas (the Witches Market) so I went for a walk around there and picked up a few souvenirs, didn’t see too much to do with witchcraft unfortunately! I bought a llama pocket tee for 100 which was a little bit overpriced but really cool and not like other souvenir shirts that are all the same. I also picked up a puzzle for Eva and a couple little llama magnets because they’re so cute and cheap - 5 bolivianos here compared to 5 soles in Peru so basically half the price. As I walked on the market turned into a regular street market and I bought a larger backpack for 35 bolivianos as my tiny bag was a bit too small now for the amount of souvenirs I was getting and for $5 I really can’t complain! I reached San Francisco plaza which was crowded like all of La Paz, there was a huge police presence at the roundabout here, lined up like they were waiting for a fight to break out. There were people everywhere sitting on every available bench, step, wall, and leaning against rails making it hard to take a photo of the church between them all, not to mention all the pigeons! Chaos!

LIGHT OF LIFE 278
John 1:4
CULTURE & TRADITION 44: TO WHOM YOU ARE SENT 14
1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that YE WERE NOT REDEEMED WITH CORRUPTIBLE THINGS, as silver and gold, FROM YOUR VAIN CONVERSATION RECEIVED BY TRADITION FROM YOUR FATHERS; KJV
The reason why humanity has tendency to embrace Duplicity and counterfeiting of concepts is the pretext of not wanting to “submit” to God’s “Centrality” and its various “demanding” rules.
“The TRUTH will demand strict compliance from us, so let’s pretend that “Truth” is opinionated and subjective.”
Act 17:16 While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, HIS SPIRIT WAS GREATLY UPSET BECAUSE HE SAW THE CITY WAS FULL OF IDOLS…Also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him, and some were asking, “What does this foolish babbler want to say?” Others said, “HE SEEMS TO BE A PROCLAIMER OF FOREIGN gods.” (They said this because he was proclaiming the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.) NET
Even when Paul was preaching the one Christ, they “saw” he was talking about “foreign gods”.
So, sometimes, you are dealing with people who actually think that one altar isn’t enough to serve God on.
Hos 8:11 Because EPHRAIM HAS BEEN INCREASING ALTARS FOR SIN, altars have become a cause of sin to him. BBE
That must be why the people never complained or flinched when King Ahaz introduced the new [pagan] altar.
They probably secretly wished the altar will be “modified” someday. These don’t really know God.
Psa 102:27 You are always the same. Years cannot change you. CEV
Heb 13:8 Jesus, the Anointed One, is always the same—yesterday, today, and forever. TPT
That’s why motivational speakers have millions of “nuggets” in place of the word and they “emphasize” that it is their “elimination of mediocrity” from Church, but foundationally, their words are cancerous.
Col 2:8 Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with BIG WORDS AND INTELLECTUAL DOUBLE TALK. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human traditions and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. MSG
People saw the Real Altar right there, not far from the “brand New” pagan altar, but they didn’t mind disregarding it altogether.
It was like those days, when the Bible was only regarded as the Priests’ book and it was seen as “taboo” to have people handle it themselves.
Such things makes heresies thrive easily in Church: strange things are “added” silently.
This is what William Tyndale died changing.
2Ki 16:17-18 King Ahaz took apart the bronze carts used in the Temple and removed the basins that were on them. He also took the bronze tank from the backs of the twelve bronze bulls and placed it on a stone foundation. And IN ORDER TO PLEASE THE ASSYRIAN EMPEROR, AHAZ ALSO REMOVED FROM THE TEMPLE THE PLATFORM FOR THE ROYAL THRONE AND CLOSED UP THE KING'S PRIVATE ENTRANCE TO THE TEMPLE. GNB
Not only did Ahaz replace the Altar of sacrifices but he seriously “modified” many things around the temple, and the worse thing was that he did it to please the foreign pagan King who had helped him.
We should inspect: how did Ahaz suddenly seem to take much interest in the temple worship?
2Ki 16:3-4 and was even more sinful than the kings of Israel. He sacrificed his own son, which was a disgusting custom of the nations that the LORD had forced out of Israel. AHAZ OFFERED SACRIFICES AT THE LOCAL SHRINES, AS WELL AS ON EVERY HILL AND IN THE SHADE OF LARGE TREES. CEV
Ahaz never had any real interest in God from start; he was worst that even some pagan kings.
But as soon as he had “opportunity” to “change” some elements in God’s temple, he now took interest in “worshipping” God?
2Ki 16:12-13 WHEN AHAZ RETURNED, HE WENT TO SEE THE ALTAR AND TO OFFER SACRIFICES ON IT. He walked up to the altar and poured wine over it. THEN HE OFFERED SACRIFICES TO PLEASE THE LORD, to give him thanks, and to ask for his blessings. CEV
There are people who won’t get serious with church until there’s “permissiveness”.
Psa 106:39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and WENT A WHORING WITH THEIR OWN INVENTIONS. KJV
I pray that you won’t be the one satan will use to “invent” models of sinfulness and reduce people’s focus from God.
But even so, we are not done with Ahaz yet; he is quite a mouthful too, you know. He actually “copied” the Altar of Damascus: an enemy nation that just got defeated on his behalf.
2Ki 16:9 The king of Assyria listened to Ahaz and went to fight against Damascus. THE KING CAPTURED THAT CITY AND TOOK THE PEOPLE FROM DAMASCUS AS PRISONERS TO KIR. HE ALSO KILLED REZIN. ERV
Imagine that things that are “lifeless” and without “substance”, though attractive, we would adopt and bring right into the Church. Even from “camps” of God’s enemies, we’ll adopt false and dead “worship”.
Gal 4:9 But now that you have come to know God (or rather to be known by God), HOW CAN YOU TURN BACK AGAIN TO THE WEAK AND WORTHLESS BASIC FORCES? DO YOU WANT TO BE ENSLAVED TO THEM ALL OVER AGAIN? NET
What is disturbing really is that Ahaz was no priest but a King; he really had no business with direct Temple worship things. Unlike Uzziah though, what he did affected every Israelite, not only himself.
2Ki 16:16 URIAH THE PRIEST DID EVERYTHING THAT KING AHAZ COMMANDED HIM TO DO. ERV
The Church “system” and politics has exalted and given “room” to some unworthy and unscrupulous fellows who influence the general worship order and could indeed corrupt the “divine order”.
So, it is obvious that we can have Ministers [though Christians] but who shouldn’t be directing services to God.
2Ki 16:19 The rest of the events of Ahaz’s reign, INCLUDING HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Judah. NET
The sad reality is that, whether good or bad, every man’s “tombstone” mostly carries stories of his achievements because as they say: “don’t speak ill of the dead”.
What of the harm done to souls?
May your life be vessel for adding divine values [only] to human lives, in Jesus name.
Come back on Wednesday for more digging into this intriguing subtopic.
Keep Shinning!

The 12 spiritual laws of the Universe 🤍🪐✨
This one is for my spiritual Queens and Kings who are wondering about the twelve spiritual laws for reasons like bettering yourself or anything else that may bring you to wondering what the twelve laws are. I love the universe, and so without further ado, let's get into those laws. <3
Bless.
1) The Law of Divine Oneness: This law really helps us to recognize that everything is essentially connected to everything or something else. That every thought, word, movement/action, and belief of ours affects others and the universe around us regardless of whether or not the people are near us or far away, typically, beyond time and space.
2) The Law of Mentalism: The all is mind. The universe is mental. Ideas lead to the manifestation of things and events. Thoughts create our state of existence and the nature of our experiences here on Earth. "Be responsible for anything you create by being responsible for everything you think."
3) The Law of Vibration: Everything in the Universe moves, vibrates, and travels in a circular pattern like the way the Earth spins on an axis. Those same principles of vibration in the physical world equally apply to our thoughts, feelings, desires, and will in the Etheric world. Each sound, thing, and even thought has its own vibrational frequency unique to itself.
Note: Etheric is defined as something being of or related to the heavens or a spiritual world or plane of existence. Etheric is the less common alternative to the word ethereal.
4) The Law of Action: This law helps us to understand that we must engage and/or take part in actions that support our thoughts, dreams, emotions, and words. Simply meaning that we should put actions behind our hopes and dreams to accomplish what we desire to.
5) The Law of Correspondence: The principles of physics that explain the physical world such as energy, light, vibration, and motion have their corresponding principles in the etheric world or universe. "As above, so below."
6) The Law of Cause & Effect: This universal law teaches us that nothing ever happens by chance/coincidence or outside of the universal laws. every action and/or thought has a reaction or consequence. "We reap what we sow" meaning that, basically, what goes around comes right back around. ⭐
7) The Law of Attraction: The law of attraction demonstrates how we create the things, events, and people that we come in contact with within our lives. Our thoughts, feelings, words and actions produce energies which in turn attract like energies. Negative energies attract negative things and positive energies attract positive things. ⭐
Note: This is everyone favorite law as well as the most famous this law is most often brought up within the conversation of manifestation. We need to think as if we already have what we desire and think positive to manifest things as we should.
8) The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy: This law helps us to understand that all people have the ability and power to change the conditions of their lives. Higher vibrations will ALWAYS consume and transform lower vibrations. Thus, each of us can change the energies in our lives by understanding the universal laws and applying the principals in such a way as to inspire/affect change.
9) The Law of Relativity: Each person is given or will recieve a series of problems, tests, or lessons for the purpose of strengthening the light within each and every one of us. This law teaches us to compare our problems to others problems into its perceeding perspective. No matter how bad we percieve our situation or issue to be. There is always someone who is in a way worst situation than we are.
Note: This does not mean attempt to invalidate someone elses feelings or experiences at all nor does this mean to allow people to do it to you.
10) The Law of Polarity: This law teaches us that everything is on a continuum and has an opposite. We can suppress and transform undesirable thoughts by concentrating on the opposite pole. ⭐
Note: This is very important!!! learning the skill of pushing the negatives out of your mind and finding the positives and the light in every situation is fundamental.
11) The Law of Rhythms: This law teaches us that everything vibrates and moves on a certain rythm. These rhythems establish seasons, stages of development, and patterns. Each cycle reflects the regularity of the Universe. Some people have mastered the art of rising above negative patterns or parts of a cycle by never letting negative things to penetrate their consiousness.
Note: Changing how you react to things is what breaks patterns!
12) The Laws of Gender: The laws of gender manifests in all things masculine and feminine. It is the law that governs what we know as creation. This law demands everything in nature is both masculine and feminine. Both are neccessary for life to exist.
Note: I believe in energies over here. It is absolutely possible to possess masculine or feminine energies regardless of sex. Gender is energy it is mental as well. Sex is physical. Be who you are. Embrace that.
I hope that this was an enjoyable read and that this was helpful for you as well. <3

The Best Yuri of 2020
2020 was hell in every way, and many of us are looking forward to new possibilities and advances in 2021. However, the year brought us many small moments and gifts worth celebrating. Among these, the explosive growth and change within the Yuri genre are among the most precious and most outstanding achievements. This second century of Yuri opened with a bang, as phenomenal new works, creators, and moments made their mark and helped change the future genre.
Tumblr media
This annual list is a celebration of just a handful of the fantastic titles, people, and events in Yuri. There are likely some even greater ones that did not make the list because there is so much content in both English and Japanese that even I cannot keep up. However, among the troves of treasure, these titles stood out as shining examples of Yuri excellence. Some were released this year, others were recently adapted into English, and still, others are established titles that rose to prominence to dominate the conversation and my mind this year, but every one of them is worthy of being on this list and in your heart.
Here is the Best Yuri of 2020!
15: The Curse of Kudan Remastered
Japanese Yuri visual novel developers show no sign of slowing down as they continue to push to new heights and try new ideas. These are the same amazing people who brought us the delightful educational Yuri game The Expression Amrilato and the hilarious and surprisingly queer OshiRabu: Waifus Over Husbando’s. However, this most recent release, The Curse of Kudan Remastered, is their best work yet. Released near Halloween, this game brings a new edge of dark mystery and the occult to Yuri audiences worldwide.
The Curse of Kudan is available on MangaGamer, JAST USA, Denpasoft, and Sekai Project.
Tumblr media
14: Adachi and Shimamura
English audiences were finally treated this year to Hitoma Iruma’s long-running and wildly successful Yuri light novel series, Adachi and Shimamura. Although the story struggles to gain traction, dedicated readers’ have their patience rewarded with a sweet tale full of gay pining. Alternatively, you can jump into its stellar anime adaptation, with gorgeous visuals and realized characters you will actually be willing to put up with the annoying Yashiro just to see where the title characters go. The series shows no sign of slowing down either, as the manga adaptation is coming to Western audiences next year.
Adachi and Shimamura is available to stream on Funimation. The light novel series is published by Seven Seas - https://amzn.to/3rTSZTK
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Happy Go Lucky Days
The OVA adaptation of Fragtime got most of the attention this year. Still, director Takuya Satou and Pony Canyon also gave us this much-overlooked “love is love” anthology movie based on Takako Shimura’s manga (Sweet Blue Flowers, Wandering Son). The first short in the film, “Happy,” is easily the best Yuri anime of the year. It follows the beautiful yet realistic queer love story of two women hooking up at a mutual ex-girlfriend’s wedding, only for the relationship to blossom and warm viewers’ hearts. Sadly, while stylized, the budget demanded the animation cut a few too many corners. Additionally, the subsequent stories are at best tedious and at worst alarmingly problematic, which is why Happy Go Lucky Days only gets an honorable mention.
The OVA is streaming on HIDIVE
Tumblr media
13: Mieri Hiranishi
The Yuri scene has many colorful creators with a breadth of different ideas and stories in the genre, yet few have provided as much humor and joy as Mieri. This talented creator spectacularly tumbled into the scene with her manga essay The Moment I Realized I Wasn’t Straight, which embodies the brutal honesty and realism of Nagata Kabi and matches it with exaggerated hilarity. She continues to chronicle her painful struggles of being a butch girl in love with butch girls in the monthly series The Girl that Can’t Get a Girlfriend. Alternatively, you can follow her on Twitter for just as much heart and laughter.
Read The Girl that Can’t get a Girlfriend on Tapas and Webtoon.

12: My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
My Next Life as a Villainess has what can only be described as volcanic bisexual energy. Every character protagonist Catarina Claes encounters is entirely enthralled by her. Of course, she is far too preoccupied with her quest to avoid doom flags and change her ultimate fate to notice any romantic interest. The series is rewarding and well structured, as views are just as focused on how Catarina plans to avoid certain doom as they are with the various romantic misses her band of companions cooks up. While the “friendship ending” did not capitalize on its Yuri potential, it was perhaps the most satisfying possibility for this crazy harem, at least until season two comes out, which looks, unfortunately, to be significantly less queer.
My Next Life as a Villainess is streaming on Crunchyroll
Tumblr media
11: Love Me for Who I Am
Kata Konayama’s manga series is less Yuri than a general LGBT work, but it has a lesbian character and explores her identity and struggles in great detail. Few titles before have captured the exciting and nervous waves of emotions that young people feel as they explore gender and sexual identities and try to find themselves. This heartfelt and extremely queer series rubberbands between cute moe dress up to tragic and gripping backstory, keeping readers on their toes the whole time.
Love me for Who I Am is published by Seven Seas - https://amzn.to/3rTSZTK
Tumblr media
10: A Summer’s End – Hong Kong 1986
Oracle and Bone’s debut visual novel, A Summer’s End, is set in a vibrant and electric 1980’s Hong Kong. Drawing inspiration from classic Asian cinema, music, and fashion. The worlds of Michelle, a young office worker, and a free-spirited woman named Same collide. The two struggle to comprehend and accept each other’s feelings just as they struggle against society’s expectations and prejudices. An incredibly thoughtful and touching adventure, the creators incorporated vital contemporary elements include Asian LGBTQ rights and growing political unrest in Hong Kong, into this illustrious game.
The visual novel is available on Steam.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Goodbye, My Rose Garden
In the same vein as A Summer’s End, Goodbye, My Rose Garden is a beautiful period piece that incorporates LGBT views into its shattering narrative. The story follows a bright-eyed immigrant, Hanako, wanting to make a new life in England as an author at the dawn of the twentieth century. She takes a job as a maid to noblewoman Alice, but their relationship takes a turn when Alice asks Hanako to kill her. This poignant tale is beautiful and an honest depiction of love and its conflict with responsibility and society.

9: Shio Usui
Usui’s hit Shaikaijin Yuri manga Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon could easily take this spot even though it is not even out in English until February 2021. The manga is already making waves and receiving constant praise. The characters and their journey to discover love and self-acceptance are as charming as they are relatable and grounded. However, it is the creator, Usui, who really deserves acclaim. Not just for their work on Doughnuts, but having a second serialized story, Onna Tomodachi to Kekkon Shitemita, in monthly Yuri magazine Comic Yuri Hime simultaneously. It is even more remarkable when you consider these two iconic stories are Usui’s first long-running works, as they only contributed one-shots before.

8: Bloom Into You: Regarding Saeki Sayaka
Bloom Into You is possibly the most iconic Yuri series in the past decade, and while the manga deserves its own place on this list, the best thing to come out of the series as a whole is easily the light novels. This trilogy by Adachi and Shimamura creator Hitoma Iruma dives deep into supporting cast member Sayaka. Readers are treated to a delightful journey as she discovers her sexuality, experiences heartbreak, and finally finds herself breaking free and falling in love. With the help of gorgeous illustrations by Nakatani Nio herself, Iruma masterfully captures Sayaka’s unique voice and emotions in this wonderful series. Whether a fan of the originals or not, every Yurijin must check out Regarding Saeki Sayaka.
The light novel series is published by Seven Seas - https://amzn.to/3hFSyaG

7: Our Teachers are Dating
The best a Yuri can get. This workplace romance follows two teachers at the start of a new relationship taking nervous yet enthusiastic first steps, including saying I love you, going on their first date, and even sleeping together. It is so heartfelt and salacious that readers will squeal the whole time. Additionally, our heroines are supported in their relationship by everyone they know, their students, colleagues, and even the principal. It is a perfect world for these two lovebirds! Our Teachers are Dating would easily be number one or two in any other year, but the competition is fierce in 2020. So even though this is only number seven, it is still a master class Yuri manga.
The manga is published by Seven Seas Entertainment - https://amzn.to/38XY3O9

6: Amongst Us
Who would have thought that a comedy alternative universe story spinoff of a fantasy action series would be the single best Yuri webcomic this year? Shilin’s astounding artwork illustrations the hilarious and irresistible journey of girlfriends Blackbird and Veloce. These two eccentric young women get into all kinds of everyday mischief that bounces between tender and touching romance, completely outrageous comedy, and downright thirst-inducing sorcery. Seriously, you should buy the first volume for Veloce’s back muscles alone. The storyline skips between time, but both their established relationship and their meeting as teenagers are adorkable and captivating.
Amongst Us is available online free on Webtoon and the comic’s website. The first volume is in paperback on Shilin’s site.

Honorable Mention: Éclair
There are a lot of Yuri anthologies out there, and they have done some beautiful things. Many focus on themes like Syrup. Others collect a series of stories by an author into one bound work. However, out of all of them, Éclair is the most successful. ASCII Media Works took some of the genre’s most extraordinary creators and let them do whatever they wanted, and the results are spectacular. The incredible talent behind Éclair somehow packs a full volume’s worth of story and character into just a few pages with every chapter. While the first volume came overseas a few years ago, Yen Press gave Yurijin a gift this year by releasing the entire rest of the series in which readers can get lost.
The anthology series is published by Yen Press - https://amzn.to/38XY3O9

5: I’m in Love with the Villainess
A small trend of isekai Yuri with villainesses emerged recently, and I honestly had few hopes of I’m in Love with the Villainess. The series is pretty popular, but I often find that this does not denote quality, and with isekai having some institutional issues, I suspected this would fall flat. Then the volume three cover showcased an incredible accomplishment, allowing for a lesbian relationship to blossom into a family with children, and it blew me away. Finally, I read volume one and realized that the series has incredible character, some of the best world-building I have ever seen in a light novel, thoughtful discussions of inequality and societal issues, and most impressively, open and frank discussion of queer identity and life Yuri has ever seen! This one is something special.
The series is published by Seven Seas Entertainment - https://amzn.to/3nedvdZ

4: The Last of Us Part II
Yes, I know this one is not Yuri and that a portion of the population despises this game and will likely be exceptionally angry at me for including it. However, I maintain that it was an incredibly challenging masterpiece. Naughty Dog did not take the easy route out and delivered one of the most devastating media experiences I have ever seen. As I said in my article about the game, playing it changed me, and it sticks with me to this day. The Last of Us Part II earns its spot on this list because it pushed boundaries more with LGBTQ inclusion than any other AAA game. From brave inclusion of LGBTQ themes to queer characters and storylines at its center, the game changes gaming and it will never go back.
The Last of Us Part II is available on PlayStation 4

3: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
She-Ra feels like the culmination of all the LGBTQ progress western cartoons have made over the past few years. From The Legend of Korra to Steven Universe, young people are finally seeing more LGBTQ people represented on the small screen. This epic fantasy concluded with an amazing and powerful lesbian romance, delivering on its queer promise and revolutionized representation in a trope-defying crescendo.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is streaming on Netflix

2:  The Conditions of Paradise
The greatest single Yuri work of all in 2020 was the English release of Akiko Morishima’s breakthrough manga, The Conditions of Paradise. Initially released in 2007, this anthology detailed the love between adult women. It was in every way a manga ahead of its time, and seeing it finally get a small piece of the recognition it deserves overseas is a true gift. The fact that we can own this legendary piece of Yuri history and Morishima’s other anthologies is nothing short of a blessing from the Yuri goddess.
The Conditions of Paradise is published by Seven Seas Entertainment - https://amzn.to/38bh4xq
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Otherside Picnic
This eerie sci-fi horror series combines the best of pulse-pounding thrillers, complex and intelligent hard science fiction, and exciting Yuri romance. Author Iori Miyazawa spends as much time crafting a well-paced and intriguing narrative about a mysterious world where occult creatures roam as he does establishing two believable and grounded heroes in Sorawo and Toriko. The romance between the two may be slow to start, but their chemistry is undeniable and as the stakes and story build, so too does their relationship. Not only are the light novels incredible, but the series’ manga adaptation is coming soon to the West as well as an upcoming TV anime in early 2021.
Otherside Picnic is streaming on Funimation. The light novels are published by J-Novel Club - https://amzn.to/3niiv1g

1. Yuri subgenres
For a long time, Yuri was not a genre of its own, but elements of romances or bonds between women found in other works. Now, thanks to an increasing library of works, the advent of social media, and a wider audience, Yuri is a genre on its own, with many creators telling different stories in different styles. However, 2020 saw the continued emergence of something extraordinary, subgenres. Yuri is now so vast, we can actually categorize the works within. Depending on their characters, like classic schoolgirl romances or spicy shakaijin office affairs, their world, such as fantasy or isekai series and thrilling science fiction adventures, and even other elements within. One of my personal favorites is the feminist Yuri that emerges from titles like Sexiled, where women celebrate the accomplishments of other women and dismantle power structures stacked against them. Now, no matter what kind of Yurijin you are, there is something for you to love.
Tumblr media
I am happy to leave 2020 behind, but I bring with me a renewed love and admiration for Yuri. 2021 looks to be a somehow even better year for the genre, and I am thrilled to experience every minute of it that I can. Yuri has transformed into something far greater than I ever thought it would be, and let us all enjoy its evolution and expansion together in 2021.

Din Djarin/The Mandalorian Yandere Headcanons [The Beginning]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
【summary:A few of my personal headcanons (very rough ideas) on how Din would transition into a yandere.】
【pairing:The Mandalorian x Reader】
【rating:.PG-13 — no explicit content in this part, but in later parts of this series will have NSFW content. 】
【word count:1.2k 】
Tumblr media
The Mandalorian’s obsession with you started out as nothing more than meeting you by accident on Arvala-7. He was retrieving the asset for the Client, but what he soon came to find out is that he wasn’t the only one with a tracking FOB. You had somehow beaten him to the asset, a small green alien child, in the chaos of his blaster fight with the IG-11 droid. This unpleasant surprise forced the two of you got into a scuffle where you were crowned the victor after you had managed to knock him off of his feet.
You two agreed to split the reward, since the IG-11 droid was smoking from the blaster bolt in it’s head and was in no condition to take it’s share. Besides, you needed a ride off the planet because your ship was kind of destroyed in the process of getting to Arvala-7.
From then on, your relationship blossomed into a rather unorthodox friendship filled with laughs and bickering like an old married couple. You had stayed with him during the beginning just to look after the child but after awhile you grew to care about the Mandalorian just as much as you cared about Grogu.
Din couldn’t exactly place when he started to fall in love with you, but by the time he realized it—it was already too late. It was around the time your little family escaped from Moff Gideon on Nevarro when he realized it. He had barely escaped with his life and he now grasped how much he wanted to live; for you, for Grogu, and most importantly so he could hear your laugh once again.
You, on the other hand, loved Din like a cherished friend—so naïve and innocent—and Grogu was the son you never had. You both became foster parents to the little guy and it wasn’t long before you put on your ‘proud mom’ hat. But, the best part was how Grogu brought you and the Mandalorian to figure out how best to work with each other. You both learned to patch each other up after fights, take turns cooking the meals, and babysat Grogu while the other went off to work on missions. Overall, the domestic nature of life was something you couldn’t protest against
With this domestic nature of your relationship, Din couldn’t help himself but fantasize about settling down with you as his wife and giving Grogu some siblings. It was something he craved for, it was something he longed for, and dare I say, he needed.
The moment where Din’s love for you turned dark was when he almost lost you. The two of you were helping the Jedi Ashoka Tano free oppressed people from a ruthless dictator on Corvus when things took a turn for the worst. In a duel between the enemy and Din, the enemy cheaply shot you instead and hit you in the side. The last thing you remember from that mission was Din shouting out your name in panic and falling into inky darkness—your side exploding in agonizing pain.
Luckily, the bullet only got you in the side and, because blaster bolts cauterize skin, you managed to pull through the serious injury but it took weeks until you were fully healed. Din was by your side at your beck and call, refusing to let you get out of bed to do anything but use the restroom.
Din has lost a lot of people in his life, he’s lost his parents, friends, and his entire tribe. He sure as hell wasn’t going to lose you, the person he loves. He couldn’t imagine continuing his life without you, he doubted he could go a day without hearing your laugh and waking up to the sight of you and Grogu waking him up in the morning.
During this time, you noted a change in him. In his own way, he’d been showering you in affection; more touching, staring more than usual, and opening up to you more. You didn’t mind this new Din, but one thing that concerned you was how protective he had gotten. He would only allow Grogu to come near you and almost outright refused Cara and Karga when they asked to see you. You worried about him.
To Din, his protectiveness didn’t come from his need to control you but instead came from his love to see you safe. He loved knowing that nothing could possibly blemish your smooth, supple skin or that nothing threatened the loving smile that would cross your lips every time you made Grogu coo. He had gotten so used to you remaining in bed where he could protect you that the day when he couldn’t find you, he panicked.
You had gotten a transmission from Cara to come into the city on Nevarro, where the Razor Crest was stopped for a day or so, and you figured that you had healed well enough to go on your own. You had taken Grogu with you because you couldn’t leave the little guy alone since he’d become so attached to you. Oh, what a mistake that turned out to be.
As soon as Din spotted your empty bed, was in near hysterics. In one moment he felt like his whole life had fallen apart in a matter of seconds. He then a transmission popped up from Cara that told him everything he needed to know. Cara was informing you, if you were still on the Crest, not to come meet her. There was a group of people who had come into the Guild asking about the Mandalorian and you and she didn’t like the sound of it. He left before the transmission had even ended.
You hadn’t found Cara where she said she would be and you were so confused. It was growing darker by the minute and the streets of the city were looking scarier by the second, you were in no condition to defend yourself or Grogu. The small green bean was becoming fussier as the moments ticked by, he was clearly very hungry. You had waited for around an hour, but when you figured that Cara wasn’t coming you decided to head back to the Razor Crest. That’s when a group of men, of differing races, stepped out of the shadows and you knew in an instant that you were in trouble.
Din had found Cara in a matter of minutes, demanding angrily where she had sent you too. Cara immediately recognized the severity of the situation and guided the taking Mandalorian to the spot where she told you to meet her. They arrived a bit too late.
You were laying on the ground, bleeding from your nose and the blaster wound that had been healing opened up—blood was pooling around your form. Your face was a degusting menagerie of purples and blacks, bruises that would last for weeks at the very least. Grogu was being held by the back of his robe by one of the men, his small cries for the woman laying on the ground was the first thing the Mandalorian heard when he turned the corner.
He saw red and that was the last thing Din saw before he brutally beat the enemy group senseless—with the help of Cara of course. His thoughts whirled with fear and anger that made him feel sick to his stomach. He stomped and kicked until he heard the squishing of gore under his boot—he blood seeping through the soles of his shoes. But in a few seconds, it was over.
With the bodies of the men laying on the ground, beaten senseless to a pulp, in the center was Din cradling your broken body to his chest. Cara was dealing with the last of the men who had run off, leaving Din with you and a crying Grogu. This incident was the straw that broke the camels back, he wouldn’t let you out of his sight now.
You woke up the next morning, your right eye had formed a beautiful black eye that it made it hard to see. But, you still managed to see the familiar helmet of your friend, the Mandalorian, sitting in front of you. You were so confused on what had happened or how you had gotten back to the Razor Crest.
“Din? What happened? Last I remember-”
“Your safe, that’s all the matters.”
“Din, tell me what happened.”
Din was silent for a few moments and you tried sitting up in your bed, only for him to push you back down on the bed. You raised your right hand to grab his arm, but found it locked tightly in a electric handcuff to the side of the bed.
“Din, what- what is this?”
“I need to keep you safe. Even if that means protecting you from yourself, (Y/N).”

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT SCORPIO ZODIAC SIGN
Mysterious, strong-willed, resentful, and ambitious. Much has been said about the eight astrological sign, and there's no doubt you've heard rumors.
However, there's much more to Scorpio than what meets the eye, and here, we'll analyze some interesting facts so that you can get to know this mystifying sign even better!
#1. They're tough as nails.
When life gets hard, you want a Scorpio by your side, as they're capable of withstanding difficult situations with minimal hysteria.
Oh, they get stressed like everyone else, but they're amazing at compartmentalizing and not getting overwhelmed by intense emotions.
#2. Scorpios will always remember their first love.
Call it romance or a good memory; the fact of the matter is that Scorpios rarely forget about their first love and, consciously or unconsciously, tend to compare all their future relationships to their first one.
#3. They have a sixth-sense for tension.
Scorpios are very good at detecting when someone is tense or is "acting off," which makes them great at telling when others are lying.
This skill also ensures you can't hide anything from Scorpio, particularly negative things. If you're acting out of the ordinary, even a small amount, Scorpio will know.
#4. They don't like talking about their problems.
Scorpios like to handle their own problems, and they often see asking for help as a failure. However, this doesn't mean they always tackle it alone.
When things get too hard, Scorpio will turn to their friends. Not for help, but rather as a distraction.
An afternoon hang out with their closest friends gives Scorpio the energy and the insight they need to push through any challenge.
#5. They're not as mysterious as people think.
Scorpios are just reserved, that's all there is to it.
They don't keep things from others to add to their mystique nor do they act secretive because they're hiding something; More often than not, they just figure what happens to them isn't relevant to others.
#6. Scorpios are adventurous at heart!
Though they might not appear it at first, Scorpios can be incredibly adventurous. It's all about finding something that catches their fancy.
When people hear "adventure," they often think of traveling, and while Scorpios like traveling, adventures can be much more.
Starting a business, investing in a risky stock, trying out a completely different cuisine. There's very little Scorpio won't do if they think they'll enjoy it.
#7. They're master manipulators.
This is one of the most well-known Scorpio traits, and they've earned it without a doubt.
The methods may change depending on the Scorpio, but they're capable of controlling other people's opinions even without trying to.
#8. They're as passionate as they come.
Intense lovers, hard-workers, adventurers, jealous lovers, vengeful people; Scorpios can be all of these and more.
Scorpios have a lot of energy and passion for everything they do, which means you really want to stay on their good side, as all that passion can turn them into the best of friends, or your worst enemy.
#9. Shyness? They don't know what that means.
Scorpios may be reserved, but that doesn't mean they're shy.
They're perfectly capable of striking up a conversation with a perfect stranger, and they always find it easy to coax information out of others.
#10. They want your attention.
Scorpios aren't attention-hogs as Leos, who crave having all eyes on them, but they do demand your attention when you're with them.
Please put down your phone and show you're engaged in the conversation whenever you talk to them. They'll really appreciate it.
#11. They have no time for drama.
Dramatic people have no room in Scorpio's life. This sign loves being in control of their life and peaceful environments, so people starting drama for no reason are everything Scorpio hates.
Rather than getting angry or starting even more drama, Scorpio will disengage. It's easier that way.
#12. Trust doesn't come easy to them.
Scorpios never take people at face value, nor they allow just about anyone close.
They only start trusting people after a while and do so progressively, rather than all out.
#13. They like bluntness.
Scorpios don't care for niceties and beating around the bush. If they want something, they'll tell you, and they're always quick to share their opinion.
Likewise, they value honest people, even if they're downright blunt. It saves them a lot of time in the long run.
The only exception? Rude people. People who use honesty as an excuse to be rude rarely, if ever, impress Scorpio.
#14. They hate excessive compliments.
Scorpios know what they're worth and appreciate when others see it, but they hate it when people suck up to them and compliment then excessively.
A quick compliment is always appreciated; just don't go over-the-top.
#15. They can value their material possessions even more than people.
It's not that Scorpios don't care about others; it's that they're very materialistic and often take good care of their possessions.
A Scorpio might not rush to help a friend if they've fallen down, but they'll break the sound of speed to try to catch their phone if it falls.
#16. They like the challenge.
Scorpios like challenges in every aspect of their lives. They enjoy having to fight for what they want and love the adrenaline rush of overcoming an obstacle.
That said, Scorpios only like challenges when they feel like they're in control. As soon as things spiral out of their control, they stop enjoying the entire situation.
#17. Very protective of the ones they love.
It takes a while for Scorpio to warm up to people, but when they do, they care about them fiercely and selflessly.
Don't mess with the people Scorpio loves. It won't end well for you.
#18. Can't and won't be controlled.
Scorpios like always being in control and resent those who try to control them. Because of this, it is better to let Scorpio be themselves and don't try to influence them.
#19. They procrastinate like it's their job.
While they're fantastic and reliable workers once they get started, Scorpios tend to procrastinate a lot, particularly when it comes to doing things they don't enjoy.
It's hard to get them in the zone, but once they're there, they're unstoppable.
#20. They're subtle people.
Though they value straightforward and blunt people, Scorpios tend to be very subtle themselves, both in the way they interact with the world and the way they express themselves.
They prefer to appear as unassuming as possible so that they can analyze people and their actions to their heart's content.

I've been tagged by @medievalfantasist for a truly ghoulish game, the rules are thus: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have fewer than 20, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line. Then tag some people to take part.
this is going to be nightmarish for me, as it will require figuring out exactly how many abandoned projects I actually have loitering in my drive.
also not a one of these bitches has a title.

Marnie started out her Sunday by promptly fucking herself over, waking up at 10:14 AM when she knew perfectly well that her writing circle brunch was going to be starting at 11.
It was a doozy of a thing to be perusing the obituaries (for normal reasons, I assure you) and find out your old workplace archenemy had expired.
There was probably no such thing as a good time to start seeing the ghost of your mostly-dead sister, but in the middle of a formal ceremony in front of one hundred superheroes, your ex, and a dozen high profile journalists was definitely one of the worst places it could have happened.
I’m bleeding.
It started out simply enough.

The feared and notorious supervillain known as Frostbite kicked off her twenty fifth birthday in style: snoring, face still caked in last night’s smudged blue lipstick and shiny white eyeshadow, spooning with a greasy cardboard box filled with pizza whose cheese had long since congealed.
Once upon a time on a lonely stretch of beach at the end of the world there was a drafty little cottage, and in that cottage there was a young woman called Elnora.
The moon was calling.
I don't have a favorite (I have some that fill me with deep existential dread but don't worry about it) and I'm not going to tag anyone else to do this, but I WILL be taking follow up questions if anyone has any.
actually hang on I take it back "I'm bleeding" is my favorite and it's one of the only things on this list that has a completed draft so double win.

A NOTE FROM ROGER WATERS REGARDING UKRAINE. BUT FIRST, A NOTE FROM ALINA:
Hello! My name is Alina Mitrofanova, I am 19 years old, and I live in Ukraine. Today my country is resisting the Russian invasion and the real war started by Russian president and led by Russian army.
I am a huge Pink Floyd and Roger Waters fan, and it was very important for me to hear Roger's opinion on this whole situation. It may not seem as urgent and critical, because this war can be considered as only "our problem", but unfortunately it rapidly becomes a catastrophe for the entire Europe and world. The war started 11 days ago, and everyday we hear sirens that signalize about bombs thrown by Russian occupants. Russia's aggression destroys MY country, kills hundreds of innocent adults and children in MY country, and I cannot explain how many Ukrainians are forced to leave their homes and run away from this madness. Ukrainian Eastern cities are being destroyed by Russian army, hundreds of thousands of people are evacuating and becoming refugees, and their number is increasing every minute. I'm in pain, as many other Ukrainians, because it hurts a lot to see how MY country becomes a military target for Russia and its mad leader, who's convinced that there are "neo-Nazis", who have to be killed. It's absolutely false, because I live here, and I can tell 200% that there are no such people there! I ask Roger to speak publicly about this war, because I still cannot understand how a person, who wrote a significant number of anti-war lyrics, hasn't spoken about tragedy yet. Furthermore, fully understand that Roger's point of view may be different, but I ask him to share his own opinion on this war. It's better than just being silent, because in this situation, silence is one of the worst enemies - it's impossible to build a wall in this situation and stay isolated from this problem.
I'm 95% sure that this letter will not be delivered to Roger directly, and it would be just a miracle if a have an answer. However, a man who speaks about risks of nuclear catastrophe and about the senselessness of the war cannot be silent in this situation. Tell the world your position!
Best regards from Ukraine, Alina Mitrofanova
---
Dear Alina, I read your letter, I feel your pain, I am disgusted by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, it is a criminal mistake in my opinion, the act of a gangster, there must be an immediate ceasefire. I regret that Western governments are fueling the fire that will destroy your beautiful country by pouring arms into Ukraine, instead of engaging in the diplomacy that will be necessary to stop the slaughter. Rest assured if all our leaders don’t turn down the rhetoric and engage in diplomatic negotiations there will be precious little of Ukraine left when the fighting is over. A long drawn out insurgency in Ukraine would be great for the gangster hawks in Washington, it’s what they dream of, “playing the game” as they do, ”with the bravery of being out of range” I desperately hope your President is not a gangster too and that he will do what is best for his people, and demand of the Americans that they come to the table. Sadly however, many world leaders are gangsters and my disgust for political gangsters did not start last week with Putin. I was disgusted by the gangsters Bush and Blair when they invaded Iraq in 2003, I was and still am disgusted by the gangster government of Israel's invasion of Palestine in 1967 and its subsequent apartheid occupation of that land which has now been going on for over fifty years. I was disgusted by the gangsters Obama and Clinton ordering NATO's illegal bombings of both Libya and Serbia. I am disgusted by the wholesale destruction of Syria initiated, as it was, in 2011 by outside interference in the cause of regime change. I was disgusted by the invasion of Lebanon in 1982 when the gangster Shimon Peres connived with the Christian Phalangist Militias in the murder of Palestinian refugees in Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in the south of that country.
I feel for you Alina, and your Mum and Dad and your uncles and aunts and brothers and sisters and cousins, I lost both my father Eric Fletcher Waters and my grandfather George Henry Waters in wars fighting the Germans.
Please believe me when I tell you that I believe in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed in Paris 1948. I have fought as hard as I know how to foster and support human rights for all my brothers and sisters all over the world for as long as I can remember, and I support you and yours now, with all my heart. Speaking of gangsters, I do have to take issue with you about one thing in your letter, your “200%” belief that there are no Neo-Nazis in your country is almost certainly mistaken. Both the Azov Battalions in your army, the National Militia and C14 are well known self-proclaimed Neo Nazis groups. They are gangsters too.
Also, I have not been silent on Ukraine, I wrote a piece which was distributed six days ago by Globetrotter, I shall append it to this post: https://braveneweurope.com/roger-waters-the-war...
What else Alina? Well, we the people, all of us in every country in the world, including Ukraine and Russia, can fight the gangsters, we can tell them we will not be part of their obscene and deadly wars to garner power and wealth at the expense of others, we can tell them that our families, in fact all families all over the world mean more to us than all the power and money in the world.
Where I live in the USA we can join Black Lives Matter or Code Pink or BDS or Veterans For Peace or myriad other anti-war, pro law, pro freedom, pro human rights organizations.
I will do anything I can to help effect the end of this awful war in your country, anything that is except wave a flag to encourage the slaughter. That is what the gangsters want, they want us to wave flags. That is how they divide and control us, by encouraging the waving of flags, to create a smokescreen of enmity to blind us to our innate capacity to empathize with one another, while they plunder and rape our fragile planet. I will do everything in my power to help bring peace back to you and your family and your beautiful country. The long drawn-out war/insurgency that Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice and the rest of the has been gangster Washington Hawks are encouraging is not in your nor Ukraine’s best interests.
I wish you well Alina. Thank you for your letter, and if you chose to send a reply to this. I will print that reply. I promise. Love R. PS. Have you got a dog? If so please send a pic.

Thought I'd start doing some prompts, im gonna do them all eventually but I'd thought I'd share some I've seen or thought of on my own with other writers that may need inspiration.
Look in the tabs for fandoms and characters i will do, hopefully.
1)"Look, I'm glad you've saved everyone and all that, but it's time someone told you to take care of you."
"I'm fine."
"No you're not, and furthermore, if you don't take care of you, think of all the people who need you in the future who won't have you!"
2) Reader accidently get sent to Hell instead of Heaven. The King of Hell tells you to make yourself at home while he sorts it out with God. Little did you realise how much you liked it there
3)"On a scale from one to ten, how bad do you think it would be if-“
"At least a twenty."
4) After reaching your 16th birthday you gain the ability to see everyone's red strings of fate and on your 18th you finally get to see yours, except yours dissappears into the ground/sky.
5) "What do you see when you look at me?"
6) Everyone is born with 2 tattoos that has a symbol on each wrist. One for their soulmate and another for their biggest enemy. The reader only has 1.
7)"Why are you still here?"
"Because I care about you, you asshole."
8)"Your hair is so soft.."
9) "It's too cold! Come back!"
10) "No, I'm not letting you go. It's too early to get out of bed."
11) "C'mere, you can sit in my lap until i'm done working."
12)"I'm not going to stop poking you until you
give me some attention."
13) "Shh, you're safe. I won't let you go."
14) "What? does that feel good?"
15)"Just pretend to be my date."
16)"He/She did it." "No he/she did."
17) "I think I'm in love with you and I'm terrified."
18)“No no-it's alright, come here."
19)"I'm not going to leave you. You're never going to have to suffer by yourself again, I promise."
20) Everyone has a guardian angel. Except the reader. Something went wrong in system and now you're stuck with a guardian Demon. Fortunately, they seem more effective at helping you succeed.
21)"I love you from the bottom of my heart, but I don't trust your cooking. Stay out of my kitchen."
22)"I am way too sober for this."
23)"If I go through with this, I die. If I don't go through with this, we all die."
24)"Why are you doing that?"
"Doing what?"
"Treating me like a person."
25)"What the heck is that?!"
"My cat."
"Cats don't have eight legs!"
26)"Hey, I didn't kill anyone today!"
"What do you want? A gold star?"
27)His voice brought back memories of dark rooms and broken bones.
28)"Why do people keep trying to put this blanket on me?"
"Because you're in shock."
"That doesn't mean I need a blanket. It means I need booze."
29)"I can't believe you haven't killed each other yet."
"We shared a room together in (enter what type of school here). If we could survive that, we could survive anything."
30)"Sometimes memories are the worst form of torture"
31)"How do you destroy a monster without becoming one?"
32)"Why aren't you afraid of me?"
"Seriously? I have worse nightmares about failing my exams"
33)"What is that THING in your backpack?"
"It's my new pet dragon."
"Dragons aren't real!"
"Then why is there one in my backpack?"
34)"I had a thought."
"Oh no."
"I swear it's a good one this time!"
35)"Are you there?"
"Physically, yes. Mentally is debatable."
36)"Are you clinically insane or incredibly annoying?"
"I don't know, I probably both."
37)“Are you SURE I can't punch him in the face?"
"Yes."
"What if I just break his nose a little?"
38)"It's a long story."
"You conned me into thinking you were dead for eleven months. I have time."
39)"Death wants you to be terrified, but the scariest thing is wanting death."
40)"What's our exit strategy?"
"Our what?"
"Oh my god, we're all I going to die."
41)"How's the meeting?"
"I want to stab everyone."
"Don't get blood on your dress. We have dinner reservations at seven."
"Love you for enabling me."
"Love you too."
42)"What can I do to make you feel beautiful as as you look to me?"
43)"Once hope becomes a symbol, you cannot kill it. Give it a name, and it will never truly die. You have to dismantle it and let the world watch on as it crumbles in on itself."
44)"Don't you have a country to run?"
"My favorite person is in the hospital, the people can wait."
"I don't think it works like that."
"I rule over them, so it does."
45)"Are you really still a princess if your kingdom is in ruins? If there is no one left to rule over but corpses?"
46) Reader stealing lovers clothes
47)"How did you do that?"
"Maybe if you spent less time rambling you'd have figured it out"
48)"You-you are-"
"Beautiful, a genius, immensely talented"
"Dangerous."
49)"And if the world thinks it can keep us apart, then it hasn't been paying attention because there is nothing, nothing! wouldn't do just to I stay by your side."
50)Take apart every word I've ever said, strip me of every action I've ever taken. Then know, for certain, that mean it when I tell you I love you."
51)"Do you trust her?"
"No. but I ... trust her anger."
52)"I'm trying to have a serious conversation with you!"
"And I'm trying to subtly avoid it!"
53)"Where's your shoe?"
"The giant mud puddle demanded a sacrifice"
54)"People can do can worse things than kill you."
55)"Give my regards to the Devil."
"I will."
"And remind him that he still owes me fifty bucks for helping him out that one time."
56)"Hate to break it to you, but we're both someone else's science experiment."
57)"Timing is key"
"Says the one thats always late"
58)"Right now, I don't know if I want to kiss you or shove you off a bridge."
"Can I pick?"
59)"This? These tears? They are not a weakness. They show how strong you are and how strong you've been. And when you're done, look back and know that you were strong enough to overcome what you once thought to be impossible."
60)"Act natural."
"For this kind of situation, the most natural thing would be to panic, so technically I can panic."
"NO, that's not what I meant! Act like it's a normal day!"
"My 'normal' days of late, consist of a lot of panic."
"Will you just cooperate?"
"When a person is panicking, they are not apt to cooperate very well!"

HASO, “Abort?”
Happy Tuesday guys, I hope you are all enjoying your week. Forgive me any mistakes I make here as I only have a few hours to write before work, and I am usually in a rush.
“Both of you get your suits back on.”
“What the hell is going on!” Richards demanded
Adam took a deep breath, “Captain Richards that was not an opening for a discussion, that was an order. Now put the damn suit on, or I swear I will knock you out and do it myself. The three of them were floating in the module staring at each other, hands resting against what must have been no more than a few millimeters of aluminum.
He stared at them, and they stared back.
Adam did not break eye contact willing the two willing them to do as they were told. Chavez was the first to move, hurrying over to her space suit and struggling to pull it on in a near panic as bright lights flashed from outside. Inside his heart was pounding but he tried to remain calm for the two standing before him.
He hurried over to help Chavez pull on her gear, finally sealing the helmet in place as Richards finally moved to do the same.
Adam helped pull the hard torso over the man’s head and link it to the waist before helping him pull on his gloves and, eventually the helmet. Before he let go, he kept hold of Richards by either side of the helmet staring at him through the glass, “I promise, if you listen to me, I will keep you safe.”
He kept eye contact with the other man until Richards finally nodded, and Adam let him go to float over and put on his own suit. His hands were steady, for now, but he knew as soon as the crisis was over he'd be shaking like a leaf.
If he survived.
He gritted his teeth, cursing himself for thinking like that. He was Admiral VIr for crying out loud. He had survived far too much to go and die now. He returned to the helm of the command module as he looked out the thick window at the lights flashing on either side of them. Despite the war that was raging around them, everything seemed so strangely quiet. There was no sound no rumbling, not even a vibration as one of the jets flew past.
Despite being at the controls of the vehicle, there was nothing he could do. They only had a certain amount of fuel to get them to the lunar surface, and if he wasted any of it at all, they would be either caught in orbit, or miss the moon entirely.
He had to keep his cool.
Another bright burst of light lit the window to his right. This one was closer this time.
His heart leaped up into his throat.
Richards and Chaves joined him buckling into their seats.
“What is going on.” Richards demanded again, his mike distant and tinny with the sound of very old technology.
“I believe anti alliance forces are attempting to assassinate me. They have been trying for months now, and I think they are being encouraged by very powerful members of  the government.”
They watched as another set of ships zoomed past.
He saw a flash of a silhouette, just enough to know that one of them was a thunderhawk and the other was a silver Rundi drone.
It confirmed his worst fears. The Chairwoman had been behind this the whole time.
***
Red nearly collided with the rocket. The Thunderhawk had pulled up the last minute, but he had almost been too late. He jerked the stick to the side, throwing up his wing ust in time to avoid hitting the rocket as it made it’s slow way through space. He dove down on the other side forced to break off pursuit and cut in front of another thunderhawk coming in from above. He made to look like he was going to ram them, playing a dangerous game of chicken which he won at the last second as the other pilot panicked and cut to the left.
There were too many of them. Only five out of the original twenty had been destroyed, and he and the rest of their pilots were busy just keeping  the thunderhawks away from the rocket, much less to have any time of firing at them.He had sent one of his people down to earth and one of them off towards the moon for backup. The moon was still hours away yet, so the hope that some help would be sent from them was unlikely, and even the man he had sent down to earth’s surface was cutting it close.
He didn’t have much hopes that they would be able to hold out that long.
Inside the cockpit his  warning lights began to blink and blair as one of the other jets got a lock on hi. He rolled right to avoid them and dove down, cutting off the lock but still being pursued by those behind him. Up ahead he saw one of the silver balls erupt into flames as it was targeted by an expert hit from one of the thunderhawk pilots.
He rolled right.
Someone else rolled left. He cut up just in time to avoid being hit and raced forward to cut off another bird that was heading directly towards the rocket.
***
Eris hurried down the hallway, her knees screaming as she did her very best to sprint, but despite her human anatomy, she was a little too much like a starborn.  With a cry of frustration she reached up and tore off her hoodie, throwing it to the ground and engaging her anti gravity belt. The ribbons on her back billowed out behind her.
Light spilled in from the windows on either side of the catwalk she was now on, filling her with a buzzing energy that she could feel radiating through the ribbons like electricity. She knew from her study of starborn that they could travel at thousands of miles an hour in the vacuum of  space, especially when under the power of a star. She didn’t think she needed to go THAT fast, but anything would be better  than what she was doing now.
As if in response to her will, she suddenly began to glide forward, picking up speed as she swooped towards the end of the hall, wind catching her in the face and roaring along her cheeks. WIth her starborn skin, she barely felt a thing as she raced around the corner and out of the waiting door. Two men dressed in military ACUs dived to the side as she blew past them crying out in alarm and confusion as the “Alien” floated by.
Somewhere distantly, she could sense Conn racing in the opposite direction towards the  base.
Sunny and captain kelly had Admiral Massie in their custody and were dragging him out into the hallway.
She blew across the open ground her ribbons snapping and billowing behind her as she did. She didn’t even have time to imagine what she looked like as she roared over the open field and towards  the waiting news vans which were just beginning to pack up their things. They were close to leaving, but she set out a sharp hard telepathic pulse ordering them to stop.
Compelling them to stop.
They froze in their tracks and looked up to see her coming.
Someone scrambled to turn on their camera, not sure what was going on but sure it had to be something good.
She tried not to think about what they would see as the camera flared to life following her approach.
“Make us live.” She ordered
The news people glanced between each other in confusion, “But no, we aren;t”
“What are-”
She came to a sudden jolting stop before them, her billowing black hair fanning out behind her like a curling halo.
“I said, put us on air.”
This time the telepathic pulse was too strong to resist. Mostly that pair with the fact that none of them were sure they wanted to resist. She was too interesting to pass up. They hurried to do what they were doing, and Eris was given just enough time to feel nervous before the camera was turned to her.
They were live.
She read it in the minds of those behind camera who she cut off as she began to speak, “Citizens of Earth, there has been a horrible conspiracy against you. The UN president has ordered the assasination of Admiral Adam Vir  and has continually attempted to sabotage the mission. Just now General massie was taken into custody after ordering the deployment of twenty thunderhawks to harass the rocket and make its destruction look like some sort of collision with space debris.”
The group gawked at her as she raised her hand with the small silver device and began playing the recording. She knew something like this would never be admissible in court. She was pretty sure it would be considered entrapment of some kind, which is why it must be heard now, before everyone, so that the actions of the president could be judged by a jury of the world where it could not be hidden by political machinations.
“Communications have been lost with Apollo 11. And it is….. Well…. It is likely that he is already dead…..” Her voice broke, “No matter what happens, I need you, and this nation to understand what is happening before it gets swept under the rug. I saw it with my own eyes, heard it with my own ears and experienced their meeting in the thoughts of a man who is both xenophobic and hateful to his own humankind.”
She kept talking trying to give them all the information she could, spilling thoughts she had heard in the head of the UN president. Every meeting, every liaison, every name until her voice was beginning to crack.
***
The UN president was just standing to enter her vehicle when a slow muttering began in the crowd behind her. SHe turned as the ground before her went silent. She watched as a wave ran through the people. A wave of nudging and whispering and showing off news feeds they had pulled up on their wrist implants. It wasn’t long before the entire crowd was either staring down at their arms or clustered around someone else for viewing.
“What is going on.” She wondered turning to one of her men who was staring down at her own wrist.
“Madame president?” He said with a look of confusion.
She could hear it now.
“Her and general massie have ordered members of the UNSC to adjust funds in order to hide the twenty thunderhawks they were squirting away for just such an event.” She hurried forward grabbing the secret serviceman by the arm staring at it as she watched the streaming newsfeed and the freaky white alien with the large dark eyes and flowing black hair.
“She is afraid of aliens, she wishes to isolate and eventually use humanity’s superior forces to overtake trade in the galaxy-”
The muttering behind her had turned into an angry grumbling, and she turned to see the eyes of hundreds hat turned towards her.
“Get me out of here.” She hissed
The Secret Serviceman took a step back with a look of confusion and indecision on his face.
“It’s your job.” he snarled
He just stared at her.
She hurriedly ran over to her car as the crowd began to filter in around them pressing close. A few of the secret service men pulled guns but a large majority of them were frozen with indecision and were taken over by the crowd. She scrambled into the back seat of her vehicle and slammed the door shut screaming at the driver to get moving.
The crowd was surrounding them now pounding at the glass.
She could hear their angry voices raised for her to be heard behind bullet proof glass.
Outside, she watched a lone figure step onto the platform where the lectern was and stare at her with it’s beady black eyes. The Chairwoman of the GA stood over the crowd like it’s filthy alien lord.
And even though Rundi could not smile, she could swear it was smiling.
***
Baby K hit a rough patch of turbulence coming down from the atmosphere. She struggled with the controls as she was thrown left and right inside the cockpit of her rickety shuttle. Donovan red had ordered her down here to grab the UNSC, but she was so scared and full of adrenaline that she had dropped it at too steep an angle. The ride was much bumpier than it was supposed to be, and her teeth were rattling inside her head.
“Unidentified vessel, you have crossed into UNSC airspace, identify yourself or be destroyed.”
She scrambled for her communications, but her fingers felt as stiff as wood as she scrambled for the button.
“I repeat, unidentified vessel, you have entered UNSC airspace, you are ordered to identify yourself or be destroyed.”
She slammed her first into the comms button nearly panicking, “UNSC.” Her voice was rattling, “This is B-baby K, and I….. The Apollo 11 is under attack!” she was breathless as she forced the words out.
There was silence over the coombs, “Say again.”
“Apollo 11 is under attack!”
More silence, “Roger that.”
Two jets pulled up to the side of her, those she recognized as two F-90 Darkfires.
One of them adjusted its angle and cut engines before switching to the fusion engine that rocketed it up and out of site.
The other stayed for a moment, “Unidentified vessel, please land on UNSC base airstrip one.” Before turning and following it’s comrade.
***
Conn raced towards the airstrip feeling the wind in the ribbons at his back. He couldn’t go nearly as fast as he wanted too with air resistance . Wythe hell did Adam always have to get into so much trouble, why did he always have to be the center of attention.
Everyone either hated him or loved him, but the problem was people who hated him also wanted to kill him.
Why did he have to be so controversial?
Why did he have to be hated for something that was such a big deal. Why couldn't he be hated for having controversial political opinions . Conn paused.
On second thought, controversial political opinions were kind of what had gotten them here in the first place, so he guessed that was kind of a useless comparison. How about being the kind of guy who liked to talk too much about fishing. That was a great way to make people hate you for being boring, but it didn’t usually mean that people wanted to kill you.
Maybe they could get the man a hobby doing something that wasn’t  so controversial.
Like
Kicking small Animals or.
Cannibalism.
He came roaring to the stop at the edge of the airfield ust in time to watch an entire platoon of pilots racing towards jets. He could hear their minds and looked up to see a rather dinky shuttle descending from the sky. He floated forward towards one of the jets as a pilot leaped inside.
He was going to need a ride.
The pilot turned to look at him but Conn just shook his head.
The pilot decided to ignore him in the confusion and Conn Grabbed on tight.
Starborn he had come to learn were a very interesting species in comparison to others. Vertically as from the top down he was very fragile and likely to break his neck or collapse his spine if there was any undue pressure, but with horizontal forces, he was practically indestructible. Below him the ship roared to life and soon they were gathering speed along the runway.
His grip was tight, and he used the extra energy from his ribbons to sped himself up along with the jet to reduce the pull on his arms.
His brip wasn’t that strong.
They went vertical almost immediately, and he made sure to orient his body in the correct direction as they went hurtling into the sky.
***
Red’s right wing had been hit. If there had been atmosphere around him he would have been a goner, but there was no air resistance here, so once he regained control of his roll, he pulled back into position  and fired one last shot as the opportunity arose. The sixth thunderhawk was destroyed in an eruption of debris, which he dodged only with difficulty limping without the aid of the maneuvering jet on the end of his one wing. Things were only speeding up now, the Runid were almost gone and the pressure was being laid thick on his people. They were hard to hit but the pursuit made it almost impossible for them to do any real maneuvering of their own. He was almost hit again as another darkfire sped underneath him. They rolled this way and that rocking from one side to the other. Flying through debris and over strips of silver metal.
Below them the earth hung as a clowning orb.
Red cut in a wide circle coming in with the sun at his back using it to blind one of the enemy darkfires as he came in. he watched the group of them form up suddenly as a ring around the slow moving rocket intending quite certainly to rush it all at once. He screamed into the comm trying to order his men around, but it was going to be too late, he could already see it coming.
The jets rushed forward, and he did too screaming inside his helmet as they went to broadside Apollo 11.
And then with all the silence of space, sixteen F-90 Dark Fires came spitting overhead all at once raining down a line of ordinance that cut through the group of unsuspecting thunderhawks. Space around them was filled with a silent explosion as each and every one of them was ripped to shreds.
All except one.
He saw it at the last moment.
It had been hit in the tail and had gone wildly off course.
It turned sideways, but had just enough force….. For its wing to tear straight through the aluminum siding of the rocket.
Chavez and Richards had been ordered to strap into their seats. Adam had taken it upon himself to lock down the rest of the main cabin. Outside the flashing lights were like a fireworks display without sound. He grabbed onto one of the rails, forcing equipment back into the palace so that if anything happened it wouldn’t fly out.
His legs were kicked up behind him as he floated forward reaching for some of the controls as a sudden bright wash of light filtered in through the windows. He heard a scream over his com, and then the air around him was rent with a horrific tearing noise, which suddenly went silent. There was a rush, and he jerked forward as he was sucked back….. And out of the ship entirely.
His hands and legs kicked and flailed  as he tried to right himself, hearing his own breathing as the only sound as he watched the rocket begin to spin debris erupting around him as air, and whatever wasn’t strapped down was sucked through the small opening.
The rocket was spinning wildly, he was spinning wildly in a silent abyss. Grunting against the force of his spin, he reached down for the controls to the CO2 canister built into the pack of his spacesuit.
He groaned not sure which way was up or down or back. He tried to right himself against the spin by firing in the opposite direction to slow his spin.he could see the rocket now spinning in the opposite direction with the sudden loss of oxygen. He hoped the other astronauts were ok. He saw the silhouette of a jet fly past in the distance making its way towards the spinning rocket.
At least there was someone here to help.
Maybe the others would survive-
And then he stopped, coming to a confusing halt in the middle of space.
That shouldn’t have been right. He should have kept going forever. He tried turning his head, but he felt like the pillsbury doughboy in this two thousand year old suit.
What was happening
“Did you miss me.”
Well shit, now he sort of wished he could keep spinning.
There was a tugging on the outside of his suit, and Conn floated into view in front of his helmet.
“Hey sweetheart.”
“You are probably the last person I wanted to see.” he said though he didn’t entirely mean it, and unfortunately Conn knew that too the mindreading asshole that he was.
I could hardly let the father of my child go spinning off into space without taking accountability for his family.”
“Shove it up your ass Conn.”
“No really, not even the vacuum of space is going to save you from your responsibilities. Now, about custody, I was thinking you could have every other weekend  and a couple of major holidays”
He gave a ruful sort of smile as Conn grabbed him by the life support pack and started floating them towards the rocket, which the F-90s had somehow managed to slow the spin of the rocket, and pull it back on course with grappling magnets.
All around them space was filled with debris. No more darkfires were present and those that were were quickly being grappled. One sleek racing jet slowly cruises past them. One of its wings was damaged, but whoever was inside waved with one hand  as he rolled past.
Adam lifted a hand as Conn brought him the last few hundred feet to the torn opening in the side of the ship, allowing him to step through.
Conn patted him on the side of the helmet, “make sure to be home by dinnertime sweetie.” Before blowing him a kiss and vanishing back out the hole.
Adam floated there a bit nonplussed for a moment before turning back to the front of the ship where Chaves and Richards were still strapped into their seats. He floated over to strap himself in.
“Admiral! You’re ok.”
“Yes, it seems that I am, thanks to a….. Friend of mine.”
Just then Conn appeared again just before their right side window, and like the classy gentlemen that he was began rubbing his butt up against the glass.
He sighed, “Friend is kind of stretching it.”
“Apollo 11 this is Houston, do you copy!”
The man on the other end of the line sounded close to tears, and Adam hurried to respond, “Houston this is Apollo 11.”
On the other side he thought he heard the sound of voices cheering in relief.
“What is your status, over.”
“We are a bit beat up Houston, we have a tear in our hull, but our suits are ok, and we have help.”
“Prepare to abort mission.”
Adam frowned, “Now wait a second there Houston, I didn’t get sucked out the side of my own rocket to just quit now. Tell the boys to come up here and patch us up and we can finish the mission. All systems are still functioning, and we are back on course.” he glanced over at the others, “That is, if the crew wants to continue.”
There was a pause and then Chavez timidly piped in, “I’d be ok with that.”
Richards sighed, “Roger Houston, patch us up.”
Granted it may have been cheating. Apollo 11 hadn’t had support with special tools that cold just patch a space ship within ten minutes, but then again the original Apollo 11 hadn’t been in the middle of a firefight while on their journey to the moon. So it was with some trepidation that Houston allowed it, and before long they had air back inside the cabin back up to pressure, but they also had a sixteen man rotating escort for the rest of the way.
The group of them were even shocked to see Rundi drones join the formation only to learn that it had been the UN president who had allegedly called the hit on him. It was hard to believe, but they were only getting snippets here and then from over radio and from Conn, who floated around occasionally to rub another part of his anatomy against the window and give them teasing updates
The moon was growing slowly in their vision.
“I can see my house from here.” Adam remarked as they prepared to detach the lunar module from the rest of the ship.
They landed without incident observed by mobile camera crews  and news reporters as he made his own footprint on the never changing dust of the moon’s surface. He gave them a thumbs up to let them know he was fine and hesitated only once before setting up the UN flag in the dirt. He refused to let his enthusiasm be dampened by the day’s events and hopped around dancing and leaping for joy as another one of his childhood dreams was fulfilled. That was before he plowed face first into the moon’s surface and required help from Richards to stand back up again.
They left soon after taking another three days of escort back to earth before strapping themselves in for final entry.
Conn left them just as they were entering orbit with a middle finger for all three of them.
“Your friend is super delightful isn’t it.’
“Try having a child with him.” Adam muttered refusing to elaborate even as they stared at him in confusion.
They fell from the sky and landed somewhere in the Pacific ocean, picked up by the waiting navy vessel who was within nine miles of their landing site. They were fished from the water and returned safe and sound to the ship to cheers and cameras. Adam’s legs felt a little like jelly after days of not using them, and he was finally able to relax lying on the deck of the ship under the sun as people ran around them on either side.
His hands shook slowly building up after the stress of the last week. He took long deep breaths and closed his eyes.
The next few days were going to be a real shit show.

Further exploration...
Tumblr media
I used this chart when going over the implications of the inner planetary placements (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) and their aspects. You can find the post here.
I thought I’d move spontaneously with my own train of thought as it applies to this chart in order to explore it a bit more.
This person is pleasant but private. She’s definitely guarded, as would be expected with Pluto in the 1st, not in a way Saturnian way of being walled off, but in an observant and quiet way of attempting to assess the situation. She would appear to be tolerant and open minded, albeit careful with how she expresses herself, what she reveals and how other people respond (Pluto square Venus). There’s definite optimism but with reserve and caution. Her chart ruler, Jupiter, is in the 8th house of the subconscious and intimate relationships. It would seem as if she’s in for some fated discoveries and adventures, a search for meaning through the depths of the human psyche. It would be safe to assume that wisdom is to be derived from confrontations with the unknown and deeper dimensions of the human existence. In a sense, both the Pluto in the 1st  in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Virgo in the 8th points to a brave explorer that is destined to benefit from getting familiar with the best and the worst of human nature. Her confidence and expansion won’t come through anything superficial, bravery is required to remain curious when faced with the intensity of life. As it happens, Jupiter squares Pluto, which not only indicates a link between the principals of unconscious forces and expansion, but a tense link at that. The survival complex might drive her to jump at every opportunity to be more, learn more and see more of what is hidden from view. “What if I don’t become everything I could be?” is the paranoia of this kind of dynamic. This aspect stimulates action, a pressing need to uncover the truth, to soar higher through diving deeper. There might be great fear fueling the drive to make things happen, causing overextension and inflation. A Sagittarius Ascendant always meets life with boldness and optimism for better or for worse. One can’t miss an opportunity to see what lies beyond the horizon, or in this case, beyond the surface layers of reality!
The Sun, representative of the center of the personality, is inconjunct Jupiter and sextile Pluto, which further confirm the theme of expansion and inner subconscious forces in this person’s life. Sun sextile Pluto implies that there are resources of strength that can be used if necessary. She is probably aware of the power she can wield in terms of resilience, focus and dedication. There’s perseverance and stamina to the personality, without it being compulsive. Sun inconjunct Jupiter is a more ambivalent dynamic. Sometimes, the optimism and general faith seem to be present, at other times she might feel the need to reconsider her perspective and ideas in order to get back on track. Nuance should be considered before setting out on quests and careful deliberation is called for. This is especially true since Jupiter is in Virgo, the analytical earth sign. Modesty, moderation and detailed organization are likely to be skills that bring rewards. It’s not wise to overdo anything and to blindly go for things though– in the case of the inconjunct aspect, things could work out sometimes and sometimes not, which is why discernment is called for. The Sun is in Aquarius, which means that this person is civil and respectful in her personality but also very attached to her own intellectual autonomy and freedom. Aquarians are always friendly and interested in others but never at the expense of their own vision. Aquarius is a fixed sign and won’t except that other people have a sounder mind than they have. Beyond a certain point there’s no room for compromise or deliberation – they like to keep their personal universe intact – even if it’s completely different from everyone else’s. In order for the personality to work well with the abundance of Jupiter in Virgo, she should attempt to be a little more flexible and open to questioning her own fixed mental stance on certain topics. It’s possible to remain in integrity while adjusting certain perceptions and reap the rewards that exploration brings.
Continuing on with the Sun, it forms a conjunction with Neptune, which means that the personality goes hand in hand with the archetypal redeemer, sacrificial victim and artist. There’s softness to this person, passivity and an air of otherworldliness perhaps. In more negative terms, the person might have a personality that exhibits the “holier than thou” attitude. This person can be whatever she likes to be because the identity is not very defined. Yet, she definitely lives in the real world and is keen on materializing the dream, to find herself through her capacity to be potent in the real world (Sun in the 2nd house). The famous painter Frida Kahlo had Sun conjunct Neptune, albeit in Cancer in the 11th house, which indicates a more sensitive and feeling based personality that expressed though art – in the sphere of the collective matters, ideas and change. In the case of this person and this chart, there’s also awareness and emphasis on collective movement and how it affects identity, seeing as the conjunction sits in Aquarius. Self-actualization and individual purpose won’t be found in the sphere of the collective however, it will be found through developing personal control and potency in the real world of material possessions. It’s likely that the person is unaware that the sense of self is tied up with the Neptunian ideal of redemption – conjunct planets usually let us assume that everyone else is the same way – perfectly imperfect, abstract and fluid. Neptune is not very comfortable in the 2nd, being a transcendent principle in a primordial sphere of life. There’s a big risk that when money or possessions are lost that the identity follows down the drain – and painful disillusionment and disappointment instills. Uranus, the Sun ruler, is in Pisces, with further confirms the theme of universal love and collective identity tied to potency in the physical world.
As far as career and work goes, there are a couple of pieces that conspire to make up a certain picture. The ruler of the 10th house of career is Libra, although containing a good bit of Scorpio as well. Venus, the ruler of Libra is in Pisces in the 3rd house of communication, Neptune, the ruler of Pisces conjuncts the Sun in the 2nd. The ruler of the 6th house of work and employment is Gemini, with the ruler Mercury in Capricorn in the 2nd house. Without following the trail any further it’s obvious that there’s a theme of aestheticism and refinement (Libra and Venus) tied up with the redemptive artistic dream (Neptune and Pisces). There’s also interaction, communication and intellectual creativity (Gemini) tied up with material assets (Mercury in the 2nd). Not to mention, Mercury sextiles Venus - a definite indicator of someone who has great writing and communicative skills. There’s a big chance that anything from artistry, writing, sharing, interacting and helping people could be in the cards for this person. As noted, Libra might be the ruler of the 10th but Scorpio also has a presence in the sphere of career matters. In fact, Venus, the ruler of Libra squares Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio. The Venus principle of beauty, love and sophistication makes a tense connection to Pluto, the primitive force, destroyer and transformer. This person might go through power struggles in love and relationships, attempting to control how one is perceived, using subtle dominance tactics to enforce a certain impression. Sociability and charm characterizes the public image as well as privacy, secrecy and guardedness.
Let’s look at relationships, needs and emotions a little bit closer. There are a few things worth exploring, Venus (the sense of beauty and harmony), the 7th house of other people and partnerships, the 8th house of intimacy, death and transformation and the Moon (emotional and physical needs). Since Venus has been touched upon already, let’s look to the 7th house. Gemini is the ruler but Cancer takes up a lot of space as well. The person would seek mental stimulation and interaction through other people, learning and exchange of information. The 7th house is the sphere of life in which the person has to adjust, seek equilibrium and cooperation through the signs occupying the house. Gemini is good at seeing both sides, adapting and playing parts for the fun of it. Cancer is good at sensing the atmosphere and avoiding direct confrontation in order to create safety. The person might encounter struggle and work when tapping into the emotional requirements of being in a relationship, seeing as Saturn is placed here. It would take deliberate striving and concentration in order to achieve some kind of emotional well-being. Since planets in the 7th are easily projected, the person might think other people are walled off, rigid and defensive of vulnerability when in fact it’s a reflection of oneself. The person might have difficulty relating to others on an emotional – physical level, admitting to her instinctual needs and allowing herself to be nurtured and cared for. The Moon, the ruler of Cancer is in Leo in the 8th, quite hidden and brooding underneath the conscious surface. A Leo Moon wants to shine, to be seen and appreciated, but in this case, it lives this out in secret, behind closed doors and through intimate bonds. It’s a powerful Moon, trining both Mars (the personal aggressive drive) and Pluto (the inner emotional forces). Emotionally, this person would be quite demanding, insisting on getting her way. Interestingly, the Moon is also part of a yod figuration, being at the mercy of Venus and Mercury trying to modify and adjust the emotional nature through reason and values. The person might be prone to rationalize and idealize emotion, or try to adjust emotional needs to fit intellectual preferences. There’s a slight polarization of the rational mind - personal preferences and emotional needs. Needless to say this could prove somewhat challenging in relationships. In addition to these aspects, the Moon finds itself in opposition to the Sun (personal identity and purpose) and Uranus (mental convictions and progressive outlooks). In other words the feminine mother archetype is pitted against the masculine father archetype in her life.
The opposition of the Moon and the Sun is usually and indicator that there’s a tendency to disown either one’s instinctual-emotional side or the purposeful conscious direction of one’s life. Some would say that the personal father probably couldn’t relate to the personal mother and vice versa, that they lived complementary lives rather than living a shared experience. The fiery, passionate Moon certainly collides with the more intellectual-rational and “spiritual” Sun conjunct Neptune in Aquarius along with Uranus and Venus in Pisces as well as Mercury in Capricorn. People who have their Moon in opposition to the Sun will seem to have contradictory forces going on, with a Libra-Aries opposition for example, there’s a sociable sympathetic airy personality that fronts in a certain circumstance, and at another time and place that very someone is reckless and impulsive, acting completely “out of character”. A swing of the pendulum has occurred and the Aries Moon has come out, fierce and uncompromising as a striking contrast to the diplomatic and smooth Libra Sun. In the case of this person the dynamic would be similar, the Aquarius Sun would be aloof and quite determined and fixed in conceptual freedom, tolerant, intellectual and open-minded. The contrasting Leo Moon would be bursting with creative energy, wanting to be admired and noticed for its talents and expression. The objective quirk in contrast to the inspired creative can’t exist in the same space and must take turns showing up in life. Because Aquarius and Leo are opposite signs, there’s always going to be ambivalence and insecurity present, the person doesn’t quite know how to integrate the two principals, which is understandable.
It’s likely that the person felt torn between the mother and the father growing up, having to alternate between the two.
Let’s take a closer look at father signifiers in the chart. Let’s look at the 4th house (assuming that the 4th relates to the father) with Aries on the cusp and Mars in Taurus. He must have been quite determined and domestic, presumably quite conventional and aligned with the customs and traditions of society seeing as Mars is sextile Saturn, but also quite eccentric, original and innovative seeing as Mars is sextile Uranus. Mars also makes a square to Mercury, which is a clear indicator of someone who is overly convicted of one’s intellectual capacity to the point of it being detrimental. Although there’s force and sharpness to the intellect there’s pride involved, which might take over and lead to this person forcing information down people’s throats. Mars is also trine the Moon in Leo which would point to a warm and nurturing side. All in all, it seems like the father is quite a force to reckon with – stable, dutiful, exciting, warm, and active, with a risk of going over the top when interacting and engaging with others. In addition to the 4th house image, we have to look to the Sun as a father principle. It’s in the 2nd house of material possessions, which perfectly aligns with the 4th house and its connection to Taurus, the fixed earth sign. Not to mention that the Sun is in Aquarius, highlighting the Uranian connection of inspiration and vision. He would surely be a financially and materially focused person with a lot of inspiration and excitement for the future as well as an interest in public affairs and public relations (Sun inconjunct Jupiter). He’s also a Neptunian type and probably has a rich imaginary realm, inevitably deeply affected by the terrors and misfortunes others are put through, overall sympathetic and accepting of all fates and experiences. There’s also the Sun-Moon opposition, pointing to somewhat of a homebody, deeply connected to the emotional past and its memories. He might’ve had difficulty integrating that part of himself, being a strong presence in the outside world and retreating back into a safe space.
Let’s have a look at mother signifiers in the chart as well. The 10thhouse is unoccupied; Libra is the cusp ruler and Scorpio fills the majority of the house. This is a mother that probably was concerned with behaving in all the socially appropriate ways. It’s also indicative of someone who seeks validation and appreciation and gives it to other people in order to create harmonious atmospheres. She’s also somewhat private, watching her back and letting people know that she sees it all and won’t let things slide. This mother is a pleasant social navigator and private, defensive and biting type. Moving on to the Moon, which gives us an image of a woman of passion and courage, a stubborn fighter (Moon trine Mars and Pluto) working in the shadows of the 8th house. She’s not someone to openly display her force, although it’s certain that she has a whole lot going on beneath the surface layers. Passionate nature aside, she’s also very diplomatic and interactive, although she might have to put in some effort to not let her need to please, interact and care get the best of her (Moon inconjunct Mercury and Venus). She would be restless; the kind to feel trapped and kept apart from her own potential and progression (Moon opposite Uranus) as well as her own purpose, self-actualization and possibly even redemption (Moon opposite Sun-Neptune). It would seem as the mother is trapped through conventional reason (Moon inconjunct Mercury in Capricorn) and self-sacrificing ideals (Moon inconjunct Venus in Pisces). The 8thhouse is related to other people and their resources/values indicating that she is living at the mercy of conditions beyond her own control, at least in her own experience. What other people are willing to support or not support determines her situation – it doesn’t lie within her own control.

Let’s Talk About Norman
I’m going to start off by telling you all something you probably already know: Norman is abusive. I try not to use super strong language on this blog because calling someone abusive / toxic is a pretty big deal, but Norman is an abuser, full stop. Aside from the obvious physical violence though, there’s a lot of emotional trauma he causes Ruby through his actions— this post is mostly going to be talking about Norman’s emotional abuse and how it affects Ruby’s psyche and actions throughout the arc instead of just “oh he punched his son down some stairs” because I think it goes way deeper than that. With that out of the way, the rest of the post is below the cut!
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE
I can’t talk about Ruby and Norman without mentioning this— it’s the most clear cut evidence of his abuse on-panel. He punches his son down the stairs, engages in a high stakes fight with him, and puts him in mortal danger (which Ruby has to save himself from). What I’m concerned with isn’t the actual incidence of violence itself, but rather the emotional baggage that comes with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The interesting thing about the Big Fight scene to me is that Norman instigates the conflict. Norman lures Ruby into a “dark and scary building” in the rain and away from others, appears behind him, threatens him, and throws him against a wall. The only thing Ruby had done in that moment is ask his dad how / why he had found him— Norman was the instigator of violence. It is Ruby’s reaction to this immediately violent start that segues into the next Big Thing about their relationship.
ENVIRONMENT OF FEAR
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is obvious from the minute Norman appears on panel that he is intimidating. Multiple characters throughout the arc mention that they are scared of / intimidated by him, but none are more obvious than Ruby. In fact until we reach the scene at the Weather Institute, Norman hasn’t been shown in a positive light at all from Ruby’s perspective. Ruby continuously mentions fear about his father: he imagines his father grabbing him, looking angrily at him, and generally seems to be afraid of him. Ruby expresses worry and concern about the consequences of his father’s anger— and that’s ALL he thinks about. Ruby mentions explicitly that he has seen “Norman’s Dark Side” and tries to hide as soon as he appears. He even shivers at the mere mention of Norman. Ruby’s entire motivation is his fear of his dad, which is bad, obviously.
Every thought about Norman that Ruby has up until the Weather Institute about Norman express fear and stress Norman’s emotional distance. Whether or not Ruby and Norman love each other is not of importance here, what is important is that Ruby has constant worry and anxiety about how Norman will react. His entire motivation at the beginning of the arc is centered around doing things behind Norman’s back and giving him definitive proof of Ruby’s accomplishments— Ruby is so nervous around Norman that he considers communicating to be a risk. This is typical abuse victim behavior and it continues through the arcs. Living under the constant threat of (often violent) punishment has taught Ruby that disagreements and communication in general are dangerous and can spiral into violence very, very quickly— he displays this same fear time and time again.
Quick Aside: As everyone here probably knows, the main conflict in the oras arc is centered around Ruby’s unwillingness to tell Sapphire what is going on for fear of how she will react. Ruby’s hiding of his memory of their confession in the Emerald arc is the same— Ruby refuses to communicate because he is afraid of how Sapphire will react. His main emotional flaw is the fact that he is driven by fear; Norman has shown him there are consequences to communication and Ruby carries this lesson throughout his entire life. He is a victim of abuse and this hampers his ability to communicate and be emotionally vulnerable. He is so caught up in the idea of consequences that he is more than willing to lie or omit the truth to avoid the consequences of talking to people about stressful topics. This is not to say that Ruby’s actions are excusable— he’s still a dick with communication issues, but whether or not Kusaka intended it, Norman’s abuse and its consequences define Ruby’s emotional arc.
ANGER ISSUES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t really talk about the environment of fear that Norman created without talking about his anger issues. He crushes a phone, shoves people out of the way, knocks multiple Pokemon out at once, and otherwise acts aggressively in various situations throughout the arc without any real Reason. As if these hints weren’t enough, we actually get confirmation through Ruby’s mother that Norman “does this often”— and judging by Birch’s reaction, these displays of destructive anger aren’t normal in in-universe. Whether or not there is a violent / strict parenting style within the universe doesn’t matter, because Norman is shown to be uncharacteristically aggressive in comparison to other adults in the series. Judging by Ruby’s reaction at the Weather Institute, he implies that his type of violence towards him isn’t uncommon; he seems almost resigned to it.
Tumblr media
To wrap up this section: Norman’s aggressiveness is atypical even in-universe, he is shown to be unable and unwilling to curb his violent anger, and this creates an environment of fear among his family that permanently impacts Ruby’s ability to communicate effectively with others.
PART 2
DISCLAIMER: This is where things get… dicey. Everything I’ve mentioned previously is rooted in the actual drawings and actions of the characters or overarching themes / problems. This next part however focuses on dialogue. It is almost impossible to truly understand the tone of each line without being a fluent Japanese speaker (which I am not) so instead I’m going to use Viz and CY to the best of my ability for this section. I’m not going to extrapolate this to Kusaka’s intentions, since without the original work that’s nearly impossible, but I can at least talk about the way these come off in English.
EMOTIONAL ABUSE
Admittedly, Viz is the worst about this. They constantly hype Norman up and excuse his behavior, outright censoring some of the physical and emotional abuse. Viz absolutely mangling the tone of RS, however, is a post for another time.
Because Norman actually speaks to Ruby at length a grand total of twice times in the RS arc, we can break down his actions into these two instances: the first is at the weather institute and the second is as he’s dying.
Rather than go based on overall theme, this scene is best done line by line (this is using the CY version due to limited censorship compared to Viz).
Scene 1: Volume 17, Chapters 208-210
(Norman is dangling Ruby off the roof of a building by his collar. There are sharp rocks at the bottom)
Ruby: Re… release me…! Norman: Insolent brat!! Is that how you talk to your father?!
To start, Norman uses tone policing and deflection. He focuses on the fact that Ruby is “talking back” to him and making demands of his father, which doesn’t acknowledge Ruby’s request or the fact that Ruby is being dangling over the roof of a building. Also note that this is the first time the words are bolded and that they stay this way throughout the fight— Norman verbally escalates the fight. Norman is abusing his position of power over Ruby in order to excuse his actions and pass the blame back to his son.
Ruby: I don’t care how furious you are with me… I’m ready for it!
(Norman decks Ruby down a flight of stairs)
Norman: Why did you run away from home?!
Note once again that Norman is implied to start raising his voice first even when Ruby isn’t. There’s another deflection here: Norman changes the subject rather than actively respond to anything Ruby says.
Norman: Well? Say something! You’d better voice your complaints right now!!
(Ruby has a conversation with the Swimmer, who advises him to apologize to avoid his father’s rage and “just go home” which… fuck you Swimmer Jack. I’m skipping that part of the dialogue bc it isn’t that important).
(While Ruby is debating what to do, Norman’s Slaking lifts the stairs that Ruby is on and tries to fling him into next Tuesday).
Ruby is physically prevented from escaping by being dangled above Norman. I shouldn’t have to tell why physically preventing someone from leaving an argument is a bad thing.
(Ruby decides to fight Norman)
Note that Norman is physically and emotionally forcing Ruby into two possible options: Fight or be obedient. He is preventing Ruby from running and deflecting Ruby’s attempts to explain himself. He then shifts the blame to Ruby *again*, attacking Ruby and his pokemon with full force and implying it was Ruby who instigated the conflict in the first place.
Norman: … so you wish to fight me? … Iron Tail and Hyper Beam… I was the one who taught you those attacks. There’s nothing about your attacks and strategies I don’t know about. You’re just wasting your time! Give up!
Here, Norman does two things: he stresses Ruby’s dependence on him and his power over Ruby. It’s a typical “your success is dependent on me” and a “there is no option except obedience” rhetoric, and is likewise typical of abusers. Norman is stressing the things Norman has gifted to Ruby (battling knowledge) and using whatever he can to force Ruby to do what he wants— he’s exerting his control.
(Ruby turns the tide of the battle, so Norman likewise switches tactics by attacking Ruby himself and attempting to hit him with a staircase. Ruby falls down the stairs and is dangling over a pit of spikes when Norman stands on the edge, blocking Ruby’s only escape route).
Norman: Now will you come quietly? Stop being so stubborn
Not only is Norman forcing his son to choose between obedience and Literal Death, he also shifts the blame again. He excuses his own actions by claiming it is Ruby’s stubbornness that forced him into this position. He deflects the whole “putting my 11 year old in harm’s way” by claiming Ruby’s own resistance to Norman’s violence is the trigger for the violence itself. It doesn’t make sense, but it’s victim-blaming nonetheless and sadly, it works
(Flashback time: Norman admits he was going to give Ruby permission to participate in contests and gets emo about it. They fall, but Norman catches Ruby. This doesn’t matter though, because they both end up falling and Ruby uses his running shoes to save them both).
Ruby: (thinking) Ru- running shoes… my birthday present from dad… saved both… our lives
Ruby displays pretty typical abuse victim behavior here, focusing not on Norman’s 3 threats to literally kill him but instead on the One Good Thing Norman did. He doesn’t mention that it was Ruby himself who saved them both or that Norman was the one who put them in danger in the first place— he’s in total denial about the severity of everything that happened.
(At this point, Norman looms above Ruby with an angry expression and a raised pokeball. Bystanders panic because it appears that Norman is going to attack Ruby who, by the way, is unconscious on the ground, but Norman gets a surprise call from Winona and turns away after realizing that Winona can see him).
“I only stopped attacking my son when I realized people were watching”… alright fuck off then Norman
Norman: HEY!! Idiot son! You disobeyed your parents, then you ran away from home. I’ve had enough! Just do what you want! In return, you’d better accomplish your goals!! A man should complete what he has set out to do… … before he can return home!!
Hoo boy. Norman never apologizes, deflects all the blame onto Ruby, insults him twice, and then tries to save face with Winona and the people around him by giving Ruby permission to do contests— which he was apparently planning to do all along. He emphasizes the things Ruby did in response to Norman’s actions (Ruby ran away from home because he knew his dad would be unsupportive and gets violent during disagreements, so in essence Norman is to blame for backing him into a corner). Norman twists the narrative in order to make Ruby the instigator in every case, justifying Norman’s responses as reactions to Ruby’s problematic behavior
Swimmer Jack: Isn’t that a wonderful father? Ruby: Thank you… father.
Ok first of all Jack is a dumbass, so jot that down. Second of all, while it’s unintentional, Ruby is being gaslit to hell and back. It is only after Norman’s omission of all the abusive behavior and bystanders’ affirmation of Norman’s love that Ruby starts to think positively towards his father. The threat Ruby used to think was so large has been downplayed and outright denied by the people around him, so Ruby’s prior fear of Norman diminishes. Ruby’s fear of Norman and the violence Norman took against him is denied, downplayed, and ignored, so Ruby begins to doubt his own animosity towards his father. Thanks Swimmer Jack you unintentionally gaslit an 11 year old.
SCENE 2: (this one is much shorter, thank god)
(Norman, while he is dying, explains the whole deal with how he was ordered to search for Rayquaza yada yada. Throughout the exchange, Ruby gets increasingly upset).
Ruby: (thinking) barred from the test and forced to search for Rayquaza… It must be some kind of punishment! What could Dad have done to warrant such… why was he made responsible… ?!
Ruby: … … but… come to think of it, dad is not someone who makes mistakes easily… something’s not right!
Slight aside, Ruby has been so convinced of his father’s power by others that he is unwilling to even CONSIDER that his dad fucked up, which… wow!
Ruby: That day… Dad must have taken the rap for someone else… and… (flashbacks to Salamence Incident) that person… was….
Ruby: (out loud) … me?! That person who set Rayquaza free… was it me…?!
Norman: Yes.
And then he dies!
(Technically he says “oh I did all that out of love” (paraphrased) and then dies but it’s just a continuation of the previous thing).
Norman, before dying, does not say “I’m proud of you” or “I’m sorry for everything” or anything remotely comforting, instead he says “hey Ruby, you’re responsible for my death and all your childhood trauma alongside your friend’s. Peace.” (this is paraphrased).
Even on his actual deathbed, Norman places the blame on Ruby for Norman’s own actions. He makes Ruby feel guilty for Norman leaving, Norman hiding information from him, and Ruby’s tumultuous childhood.
CONCLUSION
None of this is to say that Norman doesn’t love Ruby or that Ruby doesn’t love him back— I’m fairly positive the two of them love each other dearly and want the best for each other. However, Norman is a child abuser who reacts violently, instigates violence, and then turns around and denies said violence. He creates a culture of fear among his family, gives Ruby some serious communication issues, and the narrative takes his side. Norman is a child abuser in canon and has a very VERY profound effect on Ruby which has emotional ramifications throughout Ruby’s entire character arc all the way until oras.
TLDR: Normans sucks man

The Criminal Psychology Majors, Jason Todd x Fem!Reader Part 14/?
Word Count: 2.2k

Somehow! I decided that Y/N became more of an OC, I don't know how this happened, but I might release an AU just because I clearly can’t fanfiction Y/N lmao.
Warnings: Discussion of arrests, Mentions of alcoholism, Mentions of drug use, Mentions of Jason’s trauma, Mentions of relationships ending bad, Mentions of abuse (domestic), No beta bitch we die like Jason Todd
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9) (Part 10) (Part 11) (Part 12) (Part 13) (Part 14) (Part 15) (Part 16) (Part 17) (Part 18) (Part 19) (Part 20)
“Your friends... all got arrested?” he paused, “Do you remember this? At all?” he questioned.
“Do you expect me to remember any of this? I was black-out drunk, Jason,” she said, “There’s a lot of questions that need to be answered now, I know that.”
“You going to worry about this now and fix it?”
“I really don’t want to deal with it. My memory of the night is non-existent anyway.”
“Getting drunk does that to you.”
“You’d think I would know that by now,” she muttered under her breath.
He chose to ignore that statement because clearly, she wasn’t prepared for everyone to know of that part of her past yet. But that was neither here nor there.
“Do you have any notes that you need to write?” he asked, trying to ease the tension. Hoping it would clearly make her feel better if he changed the subject.
“No, I can read my own notes. I only printed them out for you, Jay.”
“Well that’s very sweet of you to do, baby.”
“Got to make up for my recklessness somehow, I guess,” she laughed, “It is what it is, I guess.”
“You should be more confident in the fact that you don’t need to make up for recklessness,” he paused, “Did I ever tell you about that time I dared Dick to tuck and roll out of the car?”
“Dick mentioned it.”
“I’m surprised he didn’t tell you that he made me do the same first, actually,” he laughed, “We were with dad, he was teaching me how to drive as one does, and when we stopped so dad could answer a phone call, Dick leant over to me and said, ‘During my demo, twenty bucks if you tuck and roll out of the car.’ and me, being a stupid teenager took the deal,” he laughed, “Dad was pissed at us two and refused to take Dick on my driving lessons after that.”
“Well that doesn’t explain why you made Dick tuck and roll out of the car,” she laughed.
“I’m getting to it! So the next time Dick was going to go for a drive with Dad, probably because he wanted to tell Dad about Barbara or something, I don’t know, I said, ‘To get your twenty bucks back, you tuck and roll out of the car this time.’ Dick, also being a stupid teenager, did it,” he laughed, “And that’s why dad never takes us on car rides now.”
“Have any of your other siblings tucked and rolled out of cars?”
“You say that like it’s a daily activity people just do.”
“Well, who’s to say your family is not one of those types of people?” she joked.
“Logic?”
“Logic? In the Wayne Manor? That’s rich.” she joked.
“Like you would know!” he retorted to her before grabbing her and yanking her onto his chest as he laid down on his bed.
“You’re dating a girl who flipped off the press twice, you cannot look at me and say your family possesses logical thinking.”
“That’s valid, I won’t dismiss that,” he laughed.
They let the news play in the background as they cuddled. Jason still had his stitches in and he said it was because Dick said, “You’ve been moving too much’ and the two of them laughed, knowing that that was likely going to be the outcome. They knew what they did, they knew it was worth it. Dick probably didn’t think it was worth it, if he even caught on,
Bruce had reamed Jason out for that, because Bruce did catch on. Bruce had to play the parenting role in this all, and he knew what Jason was like. He knew Jason likely wasn’t prepared for the escapade and journey they had took.
He was right. Jason wasn’t prepared for that, he didn’t have the necessary items for it. Y/N and Jason didn’t care about that at the time, so they didn’t even bother to realize. Kids will be kids, Bruce supposed, and he hoped for the best possible outcome out of this. He knew Jason wasn’t ready, he didn’t know if Y/N was ready, but he knew if what he was scared would happen actually happened, he’d support the two of them unconditionally.
But they would continue to do their own thing as time went on, and even at 3 in the morning, no one could stop them from doing what they wanted, what they needed.
That was the beauty of the chase they had done to get to this point, the drama, the love, the pain, it all got them to the point where they were side-by-side in his bed, naked. Obviously they were going to have sex eventually, they just didn’t expect it this early on, but they also seemed to be speed running the entire relationship to the good parts, where they knew each other like the back of their hands, just enjoying the quality time they got with each other.
Yes, it was soon. But it worked for them, and that’s what mattered to all of them. Not just Jason and Y/N, it mattered to his family that even if they were quickening their pace, they were happy and understanding of sometimes it just goes a little faster than one would expect. It doesn’t mean it’s bad or doomed to fail, it just means it’s clicking in a lot of ways others didn’t.
Jason had a dating rep he didn’t like to admit. He was known for being a womanizer, a playboy, someone that dads everywhere didn’t want their daughters to be with. He was given this through the fact that he did have women come in and out of his life. He didn’t want it to be this way, but that’s how it ended up being when some women, most women, would crack under the pressure of his life. He moved fast because he thought it made up for the craziness that was his life.
So, when he found out that Y/N didn’t like the press very much, he was ecstatic. He knew she didn’t know about what was being said about him everywhere, he knew she didn’t feel scared either, when she proved time and time again that she had a backbone to stand up against the press. Was she one-of-a-kind for this trait? No. Barbara also exhibited this with Dick and their relationship. But Jason had been so shit on by women he tried to date that Y/N was a nice change.
He didn’t want the press to be her new norm, that running from them would become her life, but he also didn’t know if that bothered her for a while, until he saw the articles. The ones calling her names and insulting her every feature, physical and character traits she had shown them. He knew that of course, with the games she had been playing, that they would insult her, and with the court case going on with her attacker, they were just more vicious.
That’s why he demanded she get into Dick’s car the morning after he found out about her drinking, not because he didn’t trust her or anything, but he knew with the ongoing case that she’d be bombarded worse than before. She realized this was his reasoning eventually, probably when she was in his arms.
Her dating streak had been better, but it still wasn't the best. She had a lot of secrets she felt like she needed to hide because of how they made her feel, but eventually she would come out with her stories, the assaults, the bad men, the way they used and used her and how she let it slide.
Being assaulted was something a lot of the population had to deal with and cope with, most likely never actually telling people of their assaults and just letting it simmer, deep, deep down in their brains. Wishing it would have just not happened.
She wanted to talk about it, but she had also healed so much from it with the help of Jason. Sure, he didn’t fix all the issues she had with exes, but the fact that he didn’t treat her the way the others did, sure as hell helped.
Writing and dance also helped her cope with a lot of the bad things that had happened to her. She figured if Jason went through bad things, he had an outlet too, because he did seem torn up, but not massively affected. Maybe he was good at hiding how he felt about it all, but maybe he had a way to deal with the trauma.
She knew his parents’ stories and how he was so young during so much of it, and he hoped, prayed even, that he had coped well with those events. But she had no control over most if not all of the events that transpired and how he handled dealing with them.
Both of their minds had a thing for wandering away from them at the worst yet best moments. When she got a call.
“Hello?” she questioned into the phone, when an automated voice returned.
“This is a prepaid call from Gotham County Jail. From inmate ‘Justine Wong’, to accept this call, please dial 1.”
She did.
“Thank you for your cooperation. All inmate calls are recorded. Your account balance is $40.50.”
“Y/N?” Justine asked.
“Hey, I’m here.”
“So, we have an issue,” she joked, “How much do you remember?”
“Nothing. I don’t remember anything.”
“I figured, fuck.”
“It seems issues follow me wherever I go, huh.”
“No, no. It’s our fault, myself, Kaitlin, Thomas, Christopher, we all dragged you out of the house and got you drinking. I barely even remember how it got to where it ended.”
“Well that... that isn’t ideal, Justine. Do you know when your court date is?” Y/N asked.
“I don’t even know if the guy is pressing charges, I hope he doesn’t.”
“You can say that again,” she joked.
“I’m sorry I dragged you into this mess, I took you to the bar that night.”
“You did, yeah.”
“I should have known better.”
“It’s... it’s not that you should have known better, man. It’s... it’s that a bunch of unfortunate circumstances lead us to this point,” she tried to say to comfort her friend. She did feel like it was Justine’s fault in a way, but she didn’t know if fighting with her over the phone while she was held in jail for bodily harm charges was the best idea.
“I feel like you’re mad at me,” Justine admitted.
“It’s not important, really. We can talk about it in anywhere from a couple months to a year, hoping you get lucky.”
“I think we all want to get lucky, Y/N.”
“I know.”
“I think we’re running out of time here, with the call.”
“We are.”
“Well, I love you, man. I’m sorry about all of this.”
“I love you too.”
Click. She paused for a second, with Jason sleeping next to her, she questioned a lot. Whether these friends were even worth it at the end of the day. She had changed so much since she last saw them, trying to cut clean of alcohol, drugs, partying. And trying to better herself,
But she knew all 3 of them were trying to do so too. They really had just ended up in a bad situation. It was 4:34am, and she was just lost in thought when Jason turned into her in his sleep. She smiled.
She played with his hair a bit while he slept, trying to just calm herself. He seemed sweaty, and clutched his bed sheets with one of his hands, She thought maybe he needed comfort right now, not her. She didn’t ever notice this behavior before these moments, and it concerned her.
He was a grown man having nightmares, she assumed, but she didn’t like it. He deserved to sleep peacefully throughout the night when he woke up in a cold sweat, clutching his sheets and having his hair stroked.
He didn’t question it and just laid on top of Y/N, and let her stroke his hair as he tried to go back to sleep. They didn’t say anything, either of them. It was just really early on a Thursday morning, and they were making the best of the situations they had been thrown in.
There wasn’t any tension between the two of them, but they knew they were a ticking time bomb, that eventually they would fight and the supposed  ‘Honeymoon Phase’ would be over. They didn’t like that thought, that one day they might be at each other’s throats, forgetting that a problem in the relationship is them two versus the issue and not them vs. each other. Fighting with their s.o scared them.
Jason would fall asleep in her arms, slowly drifting away into unconsciousness. But he would exhibit the same behaviors as before. The fear in his face was palpable.
But Y/N was asleep this time, so when Jason woke, trying to scream, he slapped his hand over his mouth and cried, he didn’t want to wake her, but he also craved just telling her what had happened and how sleeping was so, so much harder for him than she thought.
People thought the nightmares had slowed, but he just got good at hiding them.
